Welcome, my strangers, to Sandbox/Iceaura39, a page of my own creation.

Here is where I will be storing profiles for ideas in the Trope Pantheons. Feel free to look, or even edit if you wish to help out.

Without further ado, let us begin!

Ascended Deities:

    Asimov

Asimov, God of Super Supremacy (Takefusu, Demerzel, Sumeragi's AI)

Click here to see his true form as Demerzel.

  • Intermediate God (Greater God in Luminous Avenger iX)
  • Symbol: The QUILL symbol
  • Theme Song: The Collision of Thunderstorms, Thunderstorm
  • Alignment: Appears as Chaotic Good, but is actually Neutral Evil (Lawful Evil as Demerzel).
  • Domains: Electricity, Terrorism, Supremacy, Psychics, Betrayal.
  • Portfolio: Super Supremacist, Rebel Leader, Evil Mentor, Affably Evil, Evil Running Good, Wearing Cool Shades as a Power Limiter, White Hair, Black Heart, Being The Second Azure Striker, Expressing Pride For One's Opponents, Being Gunvolt's Final Foe, Walking Spoiler.
  • Allies: Sun Li, Eneru, Elpizo, Magneto, General Zod.
  • Enemies: All other ascended Azure Striker Gunvolt deities, but especially Copen, Nova and Blade, Ange, William Stryker.
  • Rivals: Ghetsis Harmonia
  • Opposes: Amon, all Muggles in the Pantheon, but mostly Embryo, Adam Taurus.
  • Opposed by: Gunvolt, Toriel, Asgore, Thor, N, Izuku Midoriya.
  • Evil Counterpart to: Professor X
  • Admires: All Ninjas in the Pantheon.
  • Avoids: Anyone making use of Anti-Magic.
  • Pities: Izuku Midoriya
  • 20 Minutes into the Future, a psychic power known as Septima began to develop in certain humans, known as Adepts. What followed was chaos, as society began to collapse, and as a result, these beings called Adepts became feared and hated by the regular human populace. An attempted remedy of the Adept problem was brought about by the Sumeragi Group, who behind closed doors, partook in cruel experiments with the Adepts as their subjects. Led by Asimov, the resistance group known as QUILL works to take down Sumeragi by any means necessary.
  • Of course, this was a front for Asimov's true goals. He sought not equality for Adepts, but supremacy, and the eradication of humans. To this end, he had Gunvolt do the heavy lifting for him, only to reveal his plans after Nova had been taken down. Wishing for his former ally to help him spearhead the Adept uprising, he kills him when the latter refuses, only for Gunvolt to be revived by the power of the Anthem and face him again, this time emerging victorious.
  • His ascension happened after his demise at the end of the first Azure Striker Gunvolt. Being unambiguously dead, he found himself confused when he suddenly found himself in the House of Life and Vitality. It was explained to him that he had ascended as the God of Super Supremacy, something that he felt happy about, feeling it gave him precedent to continue his oppression of Muggles.
  • As a result of the above, he and Gunvolt are currently not on very good terms. While Asimov does not hate Gunvolt outright, he has proven willing to throw away whatever bond they had before the ending of the first game and kill Gunvolt. On Gunvolt's part, he was horrified to hear that Asimov had ascended, and is keeping tabs on him in case he attempts to restart a variant of his Adept uprising in the pantheon. He was not very pleased to learn of the events of Luminous Avenger iX, and is doing all in his power to prevent such a thing from happening here.
  • It is worth noting that he and Gunvolt have something of a shared history, both being the sole successful products of the inhumane Project Gunvolt, where they were given their ultra-powerful Azure Striker Septima. Asimov is actually responsible for rescuing Gunvolt from Sumeragi, as well as teaching him to harness his Septima, causing the latter to see him as something of a father-figure. Gunvolt actually seems to have forgotten about the teaching part, much to Asimov's disappointment.
Gunvolt: Hey, I got it. Who are you lecturing? It's my Septima.
  • His relationship with Gunvolt's rival, Copen, is much more reciprocally negative, due to Copen being a human and Asimov having defeated him and stolen his gun. This animosity is escalated tenfold whenever Copen is in 'Luminous Avenger iX' mode, where he took on Sumeragi, now led by Asimov, and became the latter's nemesis in Gunvolt's stead.
  • As a fellow villainous father-figure, it didn't take long for him to find a kindred spirit in Ghetsis Harmonia Gropius, though their contrasting goals for humanity do sometimes lead to disagreements. That is, Ghetsis wishes to conquer it, while Asimov would rather destroy it. Nevertheless, they aren't on terms that can be described as completely friendly or unfriendly, which naturally worries both Gunvolt and N. The two of them have agreed to help take care of each other's father figures should they go out of line in the Pantheon.
  • On that note, he also admires Sun Li, who doesn't qualify as a muggle due to being one of the greater players in the game he is from. The two get along, being father-like Evil Mentors, and he seeks to become a Magnificent Bastard on his level, feeling it would help his plans go off much more hitchlessly. He intends to give Sun Li a place in his Adept empire, something the Glorious Strategist is strongly considering.
  • His actions have earned the scorn of much of the House of Family and Relatives, most notably Toriel, who despises him for his willingness to harm his own 'child'. They mostly avoid each other, Asimov out of apathy, and Toriel because she recognises putting herself on his radar to be an ill-advised move. Asgore also shares this sentiment, but is willing to stay out of his way as long as none of the Undertale deities are hurt by him.
    • Despite this, he does not necessarily support the Child Abuse Supporters, and for good reason. He actually treated Gunvolt quite well, and is rather fond of him, viewing killing him as a Necessary Evil required to carry out his goal. He stays out of their way, while disapproving of their abuse of their children for what he sees as no good reason.
  • He and Eneru get along quite well, the two of them frequently comparing their capacity for the lightning element, all in good fun. His Luminous Avenger iX incarnation goes toe-to-toe with the 200-Million Volt Eneru, with the two being said to be rather evenly matched. That they both view themselves as good guys for all the things they've done helps, albeit for different reasons - especially considering Asimov only shares his god complex as Demerzel.
  • As Demerzel, Asimov undergoes a serious personality change. He becomes much more insane and sociopathic, and considers himself to be a God of Thunder, which puts him at blows with Thor, the actual bearer of this title. Demerzel has yet to prove himself superior to Thor, something that greatly frustrates him, but he is trying nonetheless.
  • Being an icon of Muggle Power, in what seems to be a similar vein to Copen, Asimov is strongly opposed to Amon, seeing him as one of the greatest obstacles to his muggle-free world. The feeling is mutual, but became greater on Asimov's end once he learned that Amon wasn't even a non-bender in the first place. He now sees him as little more than a confused hypocrite.
  • He has something of an interest in Izuku Midoriya, seeing as like him, the youth was a former Muggle who was granted superpowers. As such, he has attempted to recruit the boy to his cause on more than one occasion. Midoriya is staunchly against this, taking the stance that while he is aware Asimov has suffered, it doesn't justify his attempts to eradicate humanity, and cannot forgive his attempts on Gunvolt's life once he learned of them.
  • As the Adept leader of a Kill All Humans scheme and an Un-Sorcerer with Anti-Magic capabilities, who was oppressed for her lack of capacity for magic, it didn't take long for Asimov and Ange to become enemies. She is one of the few muggles he views as an actual threat, as he does not know if her Anti-Magic touch works on his Septima, and he really isn't interested in finding out anytime soon.
  • Disapproves of the school of Anti-Magic, mostly because he finds the idea of it being used on him to be utterly repulsive. He cannot stand the idea of being unable to use his Septima, and he believes he speaks for all superhumans when he says that being rendered in a state that makes him no better than a mere human is the worst thing that can happen to someone like him.
  • Due to misunderstandings, the House of Machinery and Technology once awaited his arrival, only to soon discover that he was nothing like the Father of Robotics, and was in fact a very evil man who was completely apathetic to his cause. At the very least, this earned him the support of most of the evil deities in the House, particularly Metallix, if only for the 'Kill All Humans' aspect of his plan.
  • A fellow Super Supremacist himself, Asimov sympathises quite sincerely with Magneto, though this definitely doesn't quite apply to Demerzel, who Magneto has quite the dislike for, viewing even him to be monstrous. Both have been victims and perpetrators of Fantastic Racism, and thus see a little of themselves in one another. Asimov has also developed something of a respect for Magneto's Friendly Enemy, Professor X, and is curious as to why he sympathises with humans so much despite being a mutant himself. He aims to change his mind on this aspect and recruit him into his Adept empire, though with little success so far.
  • Another Super Supremacist he gets along with is General Zod, whom he knelt before upon learning about him, asking for his assistance in his mission. Zod, for his part, is still strongly considering accepting.
  • When he learned of another human-hater in the Hall of Weapon Placement, he immediately made a beeline for said Hall and discovered Adam Taurus. The two...got off on the wrong foot. Adam refuses to work with someone who is technically a human, even if he is an Adept, and Asimov wound up disappointed that for all his strength, he turned out to be little more than an overly-obsessed ex.
  • Strangely enough, he has a fascination for Ninjas, and their culture, finding them to be intriguing. Most of the ninjas in the pantheon are no exception, though Bang Shishigami is a bit of a disappointment to him. The ninjas, on their part, usually want nothing to do with him, since they tend to be good or neutral-aligned.

"I took a wrong turn with you somewhere... I'm sorry for that. But you've made your position clear. I'm on one side of this line... and you're on the other! You see, you're not the only Azure Striker. You were just the strongest... until now."

    Goblin Slayer

Goblin Slayer, God of Genocide Against The Evil (Orcbolg, Beard Cutter, The Frontier's Kindest, JonTron)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/goblin_slayer_anime.png

  • Demigod
  • Symbol: His helmet, stained with goblin blood.
  • Theme Song: Rightfully, Goblin Slayer
  • Alignment: Easily misconstrued as Chaotic Good or True Neutral, but is actually an overzealous brand of Lawful Good.
  • Domains: Hatred, Anger, Slaughter, Determination, Goblin-Slaying
  • Portfolio: Justified Goblin Genocide, Only Goes By "Goblin Slayer", Skill Over Strength, Good For Killing Goblins but Otherwise Middling In A Fight, Heroes Prefer Swords, Boring, but Practical, Never Takes His Armor Off, Sociopathic Hero who Becomes More Sociable Over Time, Immune to Fate.
  • Heralds: Priestess, Cow Girl.
  • Allies: The Doom Slayer, White Mage, Ophilia Clement, Aerith Gainsborough, Shadow the Hedgehog, The Doctor, Hoss Delgado, Celica A. Mercury, Ragna the Bloodedge, Lance (Epic Battle Fantasy), The God-Emperor of Mankind.
  • Opposes: The Green Goblin, SKYNET, Doctor Boom, Khazrak & Gorthor.
  • Opposed By: The House of Prophecy and Fate (sans the Hall of Opposing Fate).
  • Enemies: Skarsnik, Jareth, The Overlords.
  • Agrees to Disagree with: Rimuru Tempest
  • Conflicting Opinion On: Eren Yaeger, Goku and Vegeta.
  • Avoids: Grimgor Ironhide
  • Pities: Velvet Crowe
  • Interested In: Ainz Ooal Gown
  • Indifferent Towards: Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson
  • One day, a man lost everything to the vile creatures known as goblins, who thrive on horrific acts of murder and rape. As they attacked his village, he was unfortunately the Sole Survivor. Undergoing Training from Hell, he rose up as a new man - one with a burning vengeance targeted at all the goblins in the world. He was christened as the Goblin Slayer, the man who swore to "be like a goblin to the goblins".
  • Goblin Slayer's ascension to the Pantheon was nearly unsuccessful, entirely because he couldn't care less about being the God of anything. After all, he had other, more important things to do elsewhere. He was persuaded to come along, however, after learning of the wide variety of goblins in the Pantheon - a man going by the title of Goblin King, and even a Goblin God. It didn't take him long after that to deem the Pantheon as needing his assistance even more than his home world was, and thus he consented to his ascension.
  • One of his first and most well-known friendships is with the Doom Slayer. Names/titles aside, the two are notorious for being very similar to one another, as both are single-minded slayers of a specific type of monster, which they despise with a passion. The main difference is that Goblin Slayer is much less openly gung-ho about his distaste for goblins compared to Doom Slayer and demons, but even so, the two are quite well-versed in the art of killing. They see each other as allies of sorts, though moreso on Doom Slayer's end than Goblin Slayer's.
  • For similar reasons, he has become good friends with Shadow the Hedgehog and The Doctor, both of whom are also responsible for guiltless genocide of an Always Chaotic Evil race. Similarly, Hoss Delgado is someone he sees himself in, for their "knowledge" that each and every one of their targets is evil, simply for being what they are - though Goblin Slayer is right more often than not, Hoss often tends to target ordinary monsters as well as the evil ones. Goblin Slayer understands this, and says that just like him, Hoss cannot afford to take such chances.
  • He has nothing but the utmost sympathy for Velvet Crowe, someone who went through similar experiences to him, but came out arguably much worse. That the act was carried out by her fellow man makes things all the worse in his eyes. He wishes her all the best for her life moving onwards.
  • His experiences in his home world have caused him to gravitate towards some of the White Mages in the pantheon, as they remind him of his friend, Priestess. This led to him making friends with Aerith Gainsborough, who in turn is reminded of Cloud. Goblin Slayer is a tad surprised by how foul-mouthed she can be, but isn't all that affected by it. Besides, she seems so much more competent than his friend, with no set limit on how many spells she can cast a day. He has also been getting along with Ophilia Clement, an even more powerful White Mage, armed with powerful light magic as well as the usual healing. She finds him to be rather similar to Therion, a comparison that confuses and annoys the latter.
  • While wandering through the Hall of Giants and Smallfolk on his usual hunt for goblins, he came across Celica A. Mercury, who seemed to have no idea where she was. Recognising her as fitting the exact criteria for "easy goblin prey", he took it upon himself to help her back to safety, and even guided her back to where she was trying to go. Since then, the two have managed to establish something of a friendship, with Goblin Slayer helping her on multiple occasions after this. It was through this that he met Ragna the Bloodedge, though these two didn't get along so swimmingly. Goblin Slayer's similarities to Hakumen did not help, though Ragna at least appreciates him helping Celica out.
  • Realising that most of the goblins in the pantheons are so much more powerful and higher-ranked than him, he realises that rushing in recklessly will not be in any way a valid situation. Currently, he is working on an elaborate strategy to eliminate Skarsnik from the Pantheon. Only time will tell if it works, and should it, he will move on to Jareth, cognizant of the fact that despite their titles, Jareth is actually the more powerful of the two, and that Skarsnik is the representative of all goblins in the Pantheon.
    • Skarsnik hates him, too. Throughout his time in the Pantheon, Goblin Slayer has dealt too heavy a blow to his goblin underlings. The two share an intense mutual enmity, and are plotting against one another to remove the other one once and for all.
    • He steers clear of Grimgor Ironhide, though. While Grimgor has goblins working under him, he primarily governs the Orcs, which Goblin Slayer knows from experience that he cannot defeat on his own without some seriously impressive tricks up his sleeve.
  • He does not like the Green Goblin one bit. The idea of a fellow human willingly associating with...them, is quite disgusting to him, as is the fact that he willingly does evil. Norman Osborne, for his part, reciprocates this sentiment, and Goblin Slayer has found that Norman's status as being more or less human means that there's nothing stopping him from just running him through with a sword when he least expects it.
  • "Fear" is by no means the right word, but Goblin Slayer is very worried as to what Doctor Boom is capable of. He is a goblin, yes, but more importantly, he's an intelligent goblin. Knowing that this goblin is a Gadgeteer Genius means he feels he must plan extra carefully as he gathers knowledge on him.
  • He has been keeping a close eye on the goblins of Warcraft for obvious reasons, and what he has found is rather surprising. Those goblins, unlike the vast majority of goblins in the Pantheon, appear to lack any inherent malicious intent. They tended to be more concerned with their science antics. Of course, for reasons already detailed, he views them as highly dangerous, and aims to exterminate them all the same.
  • He does not like Khazrak & Gorthor one bit, because the trope they represent happens to apply to the creatures he loves slaying so much. This has put them on his hit-list, though because they are not actual goblins, defeating them is more of an afterthought than anything.
  • As someone who keeps goblins in his employ, Goblin Slayer has taken a passing interest in Ainz Ooal Gown. He understands the lich is too powerful for him to take on, but he is specifically interested in the Great Tomb of Nazarick. He wants to explore the tomb, as he feels there might be too many goblins inside, and he can't wait to take care of that little problem.
  • He has an ally in Lance, from the Epic Battle Fantasy party. Like him, Lance is an adventurer who is willing to forgo any personal qualms for the sake of doing what needs to be done. Goblin Slayer is particularly interested in Lance's vast repertoire of weaponry, like his BFGs and nukes, feeling that they could be phenomenal anti-goblin weaponry, though if he were to use them, he may have to try and limit the collateral damage as much as possible.
  • He is one of the biggest thorns in the sides of the Overlords, as while he has yet to do anything directly to them, their minions have been decreasing in number rather dramatically ever since he arrived. This is no coincidence, and everyone knows that. Said minions are not goblins exactly, but they are similar enough for Goblin Slayer to decide that they need to go, preferably as quickly as possible. Thus, he has a target painted on his back, but despite this, he still aims to rip and tear until it is done.
  • The God-Emperor of Mankind smiles upon Goblin Slayer, knowing of his deeds and goals. He admires his willingness to take extreme courses of action for the greater good, and even more so his dedication to killing goblins, despite them being rank-and-file Mooks as far as everything else is concerned; the fact that he is taking care of the small fry that everyone else ignores in favour of the more imposing targets like demons is what he likes about him.
  • It is theorised that he runs a YouTube channel on the side, under the alias of JonTron. It has been noted that even in this persona, his seething hatred of goblins shines through, and he has made it known what his stance on the creatures is. Goblin Slayer, for his part, ignores the rumors, too apathetic to confirm or deny them.
  • He fully disapproves of anyone aiming to Kill All Humans, such as SKYNET, who he shares a house with, and while he knows there is not a lot he can do about these schemes, he will give his verbal approval of anyone who can. He is, unfortunately, too busy with his Guilt-Free Extermination War to actually help these people, however.
    • Upon meeting Eren Yaeger and learning of his plans, Goblin Slayer wasn't sure what to make of him. He recognises that Eren's plans are genocidal in nature, but also learned what drove him to be like this. Overall, he pities him, but is well aware that what he is doing is wrong.
  • Goblin Slayer has a rather hardliner stance surrounding goblins; he has gone on record as saying "The only good goblin is a dead goblin!". While anyone who has seen his home world would doubtlessly agree, or at least see where he is coming from, Rimuru Tempest is one who takes umbrage with this viewpoint, as he has had experiences with many good goblins in his world. Upon learning of this, Goblin Slayer told Rimuru his tale, and showed him what his world's goblins were like. Rimuru found them to be so starkly different from the goblins he is used to seeing that he couldn't do much more than Agree to Disagree with him. Overall, he sees where Goblin Slayer is coming from, and has agreed to help Goblin Slayer kill his world's goblins should they ever ascend to the Pantheon, but for everyone's safety, Goblin Slayer has been banned from visiting the Jura Tempest Federation. Given how powerful the slime and Demon Lord is, Goblin Slayer accepts, albeit begrudgingly, that for now, Rimuru can keep "his goblins" in line.
  • As the sole good members of an Always Chaotic Evil race, the likes of Goku and Vegeta are very confusing to him. He doesn't know what did it, but their ability to overcome their base instincts and fight for good is impressive to him. He would monitor them, but they are so much more powerful than him that he's content to just check on them every now and then
  • He is well aware of the existence of Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, and the influence they have had on his Dungeons & Dragons-inspired world, but overall, he doesn't really care for them. As is frequently acknowledged, he doesn't let anyone roll the dice for him, and the gods and fate have no hold over him. Why should these two be the exception? This has made him a point of contention within the House of Prophecy and Fate, as even the most powerful deities there cannot control or predict his next actions. Conversely, he is considered an honorary member of the Hall of Opposing Fate, who welcome him for being like them.

"I won't save the world. I just kill goblins."

    Linne and Seth

Linne and Seth, Co-Gods of Reverse Grip (Linne: Princess of the Night Blade, Chitose. Seth: The Assassin)

Linne

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seth_clean_removebg_preview.png
Seth

  • Lesser Gods (Linne is a potential Intermediate Goddess or higher in a stronger body)
  • Symbol:
    • Linne: Kuu
    • Seth: The Eliminators, crossed together.
  • Theme Song:
  • Alignment: Lawful Good and Lawful Neutral, respectively.
  • Portfolio:
  • Domains: Weapons, Duty, Speed
    • Linne: Light, Immortality, Teaching
    • Seth: Darkness, Rivalry, Assassination, Atonement
  • Herald: Kuu (Linne's pet)
  • Allies:
  • Rivals: Hyde Kido (Seth only)
  • Enemies: Hilda
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork With: Each other (mostly one-sided on Linne's part)
  • Good Counterpart to: Dante (Linne)
  • Neutral Counterpart to: Gunvolt (Seth)
  • Pities: Yune (Linne only)
  • Opposes: Hazama, Carmine Prime, Ra's al Ghul
  • Opposed by: Jin Kisaragi, Ky Kiske (both apply to Seth)
  • Conflicting Opinion on: Ryuk (Linne)
  • Interested In: The House of Death and Postmortem (Linne)
  • Avoids: Yosuke Hanamura (Seth only)
  • Applies to both:
    • The Night Blade is an organisation dating back to 500 years in the past. Tasked with protecting the secrets and the order of the Hollow Night, they partake in the slaying of Voids. Though their numbers have shrunk greatly in the modern day, there still exist members, such as these two; Linne, the Princess of the Night Blade, and Seth, the Assassin, sworn to his duty.
    • The two of them are known to butt heads despite sharing the same goal of putting an end to Linne's immortality. This is because Seth aims to do so by force, seizing the Insulator, the only weapon capable of doing so, and slaying her with it. Linne does not agree with this because while she does want to die, she has other things she wants to achieve before doing so. Ignoring this, Seth still aims to accelerate Linne's death as much as he possibly can.
    • For this reason, Linne was not pleased to learn that she would be ascending with him, especially once she learned that Hyde would also be there. Predictably, one of the first things Seth did once they ascended was track Hyde down and challenge him for the Insulator. Despite Linne's protests, the two ended up fighting, and though it ended in a draw, Seth made it abundantly clear that he does not intend to give up anytime soon.
    • The two of them earned their position for the speedy, precise and skilful manner in which they wield their weaponry, despite the way they consistently hold them typically being deemed impractical at best. As sharers of the trope, they spend much of their time together, largely due to Seth's insistence on remaining near her whenever possible. This hasn't worked out as well for Seth as he would have hoped, since it means he has to spend more time than he deems necessary around Hyde and Waldstein.
    • Despite not typically seeing eye-to-eye on many things, there is one deity the two of them mutually despise; Ra's al Ghul. As an immortal and an assassin, respectively, neither Linne nor Seth are overly fond of the immortal assassin who chose to turn to evil. Linne also finds his fear of death to be a tad silly, and Seth disapproves of how he had to assemble an entire league of assassins to do his dirty work, while Seth himself has a tendency to work alone.
    • Though not as much as Ra's, the two of them find Hazama to be a piece of work. Having encountered him together, both came out of the encounter incredibly annoyed. Seth remembers him as the "clown" he met during the clash of fates, and as such did not appreciate the green-haired trickster treating him like an old friend. While Linne never interacted with him before, him insistently treating her like a little girl, even after learning of her predicament, irritated her to no end. Hazama's parting words, in particular, left both of them, after all that he put them through, feeling the need to restrain themselves so that they didn't hit someone.
Hazama: Well, Seth, old pal, as nice as it's been catching up with you, I really do have places to be. It can be dangerous up here, so you'd better make sure your daughter stays safe, alright?
    • Speaking of said crossing fates, the two of them received a chance to reunite with many of the people they had met in that time, though Seth was much less enthusiastic about this because he didn't get along with many people there. One such example of this dichotomy was with Yosuke Hanamura, who recognised the two of them and greeted them with perhaps a bit too much zeal for either of their liking. Linne, at least, was able to remember their past battles fondly and humored him a little, though when it came to Yosuke's idea of looking cool, she found herself unable to keep up. As for Seth...
Yosuke: Hah, it's been so long! But now, the Badass Brothers are back!
Seth: Princess...please, do not make me suffer another moment in his presence.
    • One time, the two of them found themselves caught in the crossfire of a battle between a strange armored man and a horde of Skarsnik's goblins. As Linne is, to Goblin Slayer's knowledge, a small, frail girl, this only drove him to fight even harder, lest they get their hands on her. As it turned out, though, Linne was more than capable of taking on goblins on her own, and with Seth by her side, they managed to take a good load of work off Goblin Slayer's shoulders. He has since become good allies with the two of them, Linne and Seth both appreciating his efforts in trying to protect the former, and him occasionally requesting their assistance in fighting goblins.
    • Being a heroic wanderer of the Hollow Night and a proud member of the Night Blade, respectively, neither of them tolerate the presence of Hilda in the Pantheon. Both of them disapprove of her reckless use of EXS, which has clearly not ceased since her ascension, and neither of them want to know what kind of chaos a Re-Birth would bring to the Pantheon. As such, they both want to avoid that happening as much as possible, and so they have made it no secret that they oppose her. This has also triggered some major Teeth-Clenched Teamwork between Seth and Hyde as a result.
    • Additionally, neither one gets along particularly well with Carmine Prime. The dude is just too crazy and irritable for either one to speak on positive terms with, and he's too much of a Blood Knight in their eyes. He spends the Night wandering around and beating up anyone who pisses him off, something Seth experienced once time. While Linne never met him prior to her ascension, stories from both Hyde and Seth have taught her to be careful to not use the nickname "Lobster" or "Crayfish" whenever he's around.
  • Applies to Linne:
    • The princess of the Night Blade, Linne was, alongside her brother, part of the human experiments run by the organisation to create new abilities, and as such, she gained the ability to transfer her consciousness to other bodies, which triggers automatically upon her death. As a result, she is effectively immortal, but the guilt she feels over the countless lives she has destroyed this way has caused her to seek some way to die permanently.
    • Thus far, the only means of this happening is through Hyde's weapon, the Insulator, which can cause Cessation of Existence on anyone he wishes. As the two of them have managed to become friends, however, she has come to not want to force that on his conscience, which further conflicts her. Ascending to the Pantheon was, for her, a double-edged sword; while it is going to be difficult to settle her score with her brother when he has yet to ascend, she could potentially look into other methods of permanent death, which she can find after she manages to meet her goal; the entire House of Death and Postmortem is a point of interest to her as a result.
    • One individual who earned her ire almost immediately upon meeting her was Dante, whose habit of Body Surfing for selfish purposes quickly established her as Linne's Evil Counterpart - after all, the princess doesn't mean to ruin the lives of others with her powers. For her, it just happens, and she wants it to stop as soon as she can. It sickens her to her core, seeing Dante do it without so much as caring for her victims. For similar reasons, she disapproves of The Mage of the Beginning, who possesses whoever kills her and uses their bodies to commit more evil.
    • She is friends with many of the heroic Under Night In-Birth deities, such as Orie Ballardiae and Vatista, both of whom she met through Hyde. Though she has found herself getting a little irritated at imagining the former and Hyde together, the two are still largely on amicable terms.
    • While wandering the House of Death and Postmortem, she came across the Shinigami Ryuk, who had heard of her desire to die and became curious. In their conversation, he offered her a chance to finally die by writing her name in his Death Note whenever she wished. Though intrigued, she rejected the offer entirely, which interested him and caused him to question why. This prompted an explanation of her immortality and the way it works, and actually triggered a hint of sympathy in the death god.
Linne: As much as I'd like to accept your offer, Ryuk, I'd rather not throw away the life of yet another little girl.
    • As much as she laments her own situation, she cannot help but look at Yune's with a degree of pity. Like her, Yune suffers from Resurrection Sickness whenever she is revived, but the Chaos God's is to a much greater degree. It was to such a point that she couldn't take a form stronger than a little bird, and even the few things she could do tired her out because she was so weak. That there doesn't seem to be a solution in sight just made things worse, and so Linne couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
    • Has issues with villainous immortals in general, as for her, they represent a path she could have gone down were she to give up her scruples. As such, she looks upon the likes of Orochimaru with severe distaste, as not only does she know of everything he's done in the search for immortality - it doesn't help that she views his pursuit as mad and honestly not that worth it - but he just seriously creeps her out, even if she's usually pretty good at keeping this contained.
    • Thanks to the clash of fates, Linne has spent time trying to find some of the people she befriended, an endeavour that has proven successful thus far. Aside from the aforementioned Yosuke, she also managed to meet up with Celica A. Mercury, who she gets along with despite the latter's insistence on treating her like a little girl. She knows that unlike Hazama, she doesn't mean any ill will, but doesn't correct her because she doesn't seem like she would get it even if it was explained.
    • Rachel Alucard is an unlikely ally of hers, too. Despite their seemingly-opposite personalities and mildly vitriolic tendencies, the two of them do concede that they work well together in a fight, They can, at least, relate to one another for both being Older Than They Look, even if the circumstances behind both are a little different, as well as having to 'babysit' Hyde and Ragna, respectively.
    • Her alliance with Hakumen is a little tenuous, as while she views him as being overly serious and on occasion patronising, she does recognise that he is one of the few unambiguously heroic characters from his home universe (even if he's a jerk about it), and thus approves of what he does. On Hakumen's part, he is rather interested in how a girl as seemingly little as her can be so strong.
    • As a fellow practitioner of Reverse Grip, she has found herself getting along with Pit, who was eager to meet a representative of one of his less-represented tropes. Upon interacting with him, she found the flightless angel to be much like Yosuke, but admired his strong, eager sense of justice nonetheless, and regards him as a good friend.

"You let your emotions get the best of you. Might want to work on that. Just a bit of friendly advice from an old lady."

  • Applies to Seth:
    • Long ago, members of the Night Blade rebelled against the organisation's goal of controlling how people use the power of EXS, believing that people should be free to use their abilities however they wish. Among these individuals was Seth's ancestor, and knowing this, in the present day, Seth aims to atone for his people's rebellious ways, and as such, he aims to do good by ending the curse put on Linne and her brother using the Insulator blade to cut them down...whether they like it or not.
    • This goal of his has naturally brought him into conflict with Hyde and Waldstein, both of whom have sworn to protect Linne. For the most part, he only really cares about Hyde, as he is the one in possession of the Insulator, which he plans to take from him. And so, a fierce rivalry was born, and one with no conclusion in sight; as the two have a tendency to tie in their matchups. His relationship with Waldstein is...different.
    Seth: Slow legs.
    Waldstein: Puny arms.
    • He found a curious connection to Gunvolt, as the two of them had some similarities as well as some differences; both of them are teenaged assassins torn between their desire to do their duty and their desire to protect the girl in their lives. The difference, however, is that Seth ultimately chose to prioritise the former, while Gunvolt decideed to do the latter, instead. In essence, Seth chose to be Lawful, and GV chose to be Good. The two of them have mixed feelings about one another due to this, but have ultimately chosen to Agree to Disagree. He does have at least a little bit of respect for GV, however, and thus finds him greatly preferable to his enemy, Asimov. It doesn't help that what he does (monitoring people who do have powers) and what Asimov does (oppressing people who don't) are more or less opposites.
    • Seth has taken an interest in many of the other assassins in the Pantheon, feeling as though he might be able to make use of some of their techniques. As such, he has struck up an alliance with many members of the Hall of Killers and Assassins, such as the Black Organisation, Hassan-I-Sabbah and Ezio Auditore. He especially respects Hassan and Ezio for being able to lead their respective assassin orders while still being formidable and active on their own. Not that he has any intention on joining them, though. He's kind of a lone wolf.
    • Having become aware of the existence of other assassins outside the aforementioned Hall, he couldn't help but be curious, especially upon learning that some of them are teenagers like him. So, his search throughout the Pantheon led him to befriend Killua Zoldyck and Maki Harukawa, both of whom were brought into the assassin business at a young age. As none of them are overly sociable, their conversations when they hang out are short and terse at best, but Seth does not dislike their company, at least.
    • While Linne gets along with Pit, Seth finds the flightless angel annoying, a sentiment shared with Dark Pit. It is for this reason, among others, that Seth has found more of a kinship with the dark-winged doppelganger, as they find they have much in common. Much appreciated from Dark Pit's half is that Seth either doesn't know or doesn't use the name "Pittoo" to refer to him.
    • Though he'd rather die than outwardly show it, Seth was rather pleased to learn that many of the deities he met in the clash of fates have ascended into the Pantheon. One such deity is Mitsuru Kirijo, who he treats with an uncharacteristic amount of reverence and respect due to her high status and battle prowess.
    • Another is Naoto Shirogane, who harbor a mutual civility to one another, due to their surprising amount of synergy. Though, he's seen the rest of the Investigation Team and frankly, he's very curious as to how she's able to tolerate those guys, especially Yosuke, regularly enough to constantly work with them.
Naoto: Well...you get used to it, I guess.
    • Additionally, he has found himself getting along somewhat with Yumi, a fellow assassin, and one who he finds to be similar to Linne. That is to say, not only is her personality not unlike his Princess, but he also finds her company to be rather questionable, as she is friends with all sorts of excitable, scandalous types who quickly drain Seth's energy.
    • And finally, he has found himself on decent terms with Blake Belladonna, whose past has elicited sympathy in him, even though to unearth it, he had to do a little digging due to her reluctance to tell him directly. Learning this led to him learning about Adam Taurus's existence, and suffice it to say, he does not like him. Not only because of what he's done to Blake, but because he reminds him too much of Hyde; from the personalities (though Hyde is much nicer than him, other traits such as their Hot Bloodedness remain similar) and their attire. Even Adam's sword is much too similar to the Insulator for Seth's liking. This animosity is, naturally, reciprocated. Seth's human, after all.
    • Despite being another "blue rival to the red protagonist", Seth is looked at disapprovingly by his predecessors Ky Kiske and Jin Kisaragi. Both think he lacks honour due to fighting in the shadows rather than straightforwardly like them, and Ky in particular feels uneasy witnessing his Above Good and Evil attitude, while Jin scorns his "pointless sentimentality" regarding Linne. Seth, personally, doesn't give a rat's ass. What he's doing gets the job done, so why complain?

"Blink, and it goes dark...Chase, and you cannot find...Follow a shadow, the owner disappears. How does it feel to lose to an opponent far superior to you? Humiliating...? Torturous...?"

  • Pitied by: Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • Opposes: The Hall of Darkness and Shadow, the rest of Xehanort's incarnations, particularly Terra-Xehanort and Xemnas, Sheev Palpatine, the Heartless
  • Conflicting Opinion On: Kylo Ren, Kuvira, Riku, Judai Yuki, The Ones, The Venom Symbiote
  • A Keyblade Master is one of the highest titles one can be bestowed with in the world of Kingdom Hearts. It establishes that the one bearing the title has passed the Mark of Mastery exam and achieved true mastery over the Keyblade. Eraqus is one such master, and unlike his colleague, Xehanort, who uses his skills for evil, Eraqus passes his knowledge onto his pupils, who he has always loved like his own children.
  • His swordplay is matched only by his hatred for the Darkness, which he sees as the root of all evil. It was this, combined with Xehanort's manipulations, that led him into conflict with his oldest pupil, Terra. While extreme in his views, many see him as having had a point, since in the Kingdom Hearts universe, darkness is usually evil, while light is usually good, with Eraqus himself ironically coming closest to being an exception for the latter. Terra used the darkness in their final duel and Xehanort himself primarily uses the darkness, with good Darkness users like Riku being the exception rather than the norm.
  • Eraqus' ascension to the Pantheon came about at some point after the third game in his series, after he managed to help Xehanort come to terms with his defeat and redeem himself, the two of them departing for the afterlife. By this time, Xehanort was already in the Pantheon, so his first act was to make sure his old friend wasn't up to anything evil, which he thankfully was not.
  • While he is on amicable terms with the main Xehanort, when he learned of his other incarnations, proceedings were less than friendly. Between Ansem's rambling on about darkness, which struck a bit of a nerve in him, and Young Xehanort's generally smug nature, he found himself more than a little annoyed with those two. But when he learned of Terra-Xehanort and Xemnas, he was furious, first thinking they had done something horrible to Terra to be the way they are. Which...yeah, they did, but he was able to be calmed down upon learning that they currently exist separately from the real Terra, who is safe and sound. Nowadays, he is still wary around them, as their very existence unsettles him.
  • Learning of his surrogate son's safety, he made it a point to check up on Terra, Ven and Aqua, and found them hanging out at the House of Friendship and Camaraderie. Seeing them so happy after all that they had gone through was nearly enough to move the otherwise-dignified Keyblade Master to tears, and as he revealed himself, he once again reiterated his apology to them for everything they had gone through because of him. Though they forgave him easily and happily, they could not deny that his views on darkness, extreme as they were, were not unfounded, as his trope shows - their experiences with Xehanort taught them that rather handily, but he now has faith that they are strong enough to overcome it.
  • As for the other ascended members of his story, he is generally on good terms with the heroes and bad terms with the villains. In particular, he isn't fond of the Heartless. While in his era, he had to deal with the Unversed, he finds the Heartless to be much more potentially dangerous, as they stem from the darkness within people's hearts, and he knows how volatile darkness can be in the wrong hands. But some of them are friendly, which makes him feel a little uneasy, but he has decided to trust them for now. Among the evil Kingdom Hearts deities, however, none are quite so frightening to him as Vanitas. In addition to being pure darkness and loving every second of it, Vanitas may have been one of the original thirteen Darknesses of old. The very idea of such an ancient evil still being around makes Eraqus worried for the future of the Pantheon itself.
  • Even knowing that Terra and Aqua managed to overcome the darkness, Eraqus is still a little wary around darkness-users, and as such steers clear of the Hall of Darkness and Shadow. Dark Is Evil is a very real and very common trope, something Eraqus is aware of. Even if he now recognises through Terra that Dark Is Not Evil can exist, that most of the the Hall's residents are evil is not helping. Most of all, he opposes Chernabog, the resident God of Malevolent Darkness, who he never met in life, but knows exists in his world. Knowing he can rely on fellow Keyblade warriors like Sora to stop him should he rise puts his mind at ease.
  • Naturally, he is much more comfortable and at home in the Hall of Light and Brightness, where he gets along with many of the deities there. Among them, he is impressed with the endeavours of Danielle Baptiste and Satsuki Kiryuin, taking pity on the former for her responsibilities as the Angelus and the latter for her suffering at the hands of her own mother, and wishes to be a figure of respect and support for the two of them. He also looks up to Ezalor as a heroic opposite to Chernabog. However, the Light of Destruction, and all it represents, deeply unnerves him, and he wishes not to associate with it.
    • This has also led to an interesting relationship with Judai Yuki, who wields the Gentle Darkness to counteract the Light of Destruction. Judai's experiences has taught him that darkness can be dangerous, as with it, he became the villainous Supreme King and hurt his friends, but also that it isn't inherently evil. Eraqus believes there is a lot to learn from Judai's story, and gladly takes its lessons to heart.
  • Often, Eraqus will spend time in the Hall of Legacy and Influence, finding a strange kinship with the more heroically-aligned deities there due to seeing Terra, Ven and Aqua as his own legacy. Among them, however, he spends the most time with Obi-Wan Kenobi, who he has found to be quite similar to himself. Kenobi, however, takes pity on Eraqus, knowing how tragically his tale ended, and gives him his condolences. It goes both ways, too, as Eraqus recognises that Terra stayed a good kid at heart the entire time, which is more than can be said for Anakin.
    • While he looks upon Anakin/Vader with pity, watching the revolving door that is Kylo Ren makes him feel more conflicted than anything. As the avatar of repeating history, Eraqus sees him as someone who must be monitored, lest he fall back into the Dark Side, but he has agreed to let things play out for now, as knowing his track record, involving himself in that story may only make things worse.
  • In general, Eraqus has mixed feelings on the Jedi and the Sith Order. While his past self would have instantly jumped onto the "Jedi good, Sith bad" train that many are prone to do, Eraqus now has reflected on himself, recognising it's not just black and white. The saying that "Only a Sith deals in absolutes" in particular has been incredibly thought-provoking to Eraqus, who dealed in absolutes right up until his final living moments. For this reason, he isn't sure what to make of The Ones, who embody each side of the Force, its balance included. The Son is someone to be wary around, and his killing of his sister reminds Eraqus of his own death at Xehanort's hands, but the Daughter and Father seem amicable enough, with the former even asking him not to hate her brother. In the end, he wonders if the Dark Side truly can find balance with the Light Side, and what that says about the Darkness and Light in his own world.
  • While not a villain by any definition, Eraqus still finds himself drawn to the Hall of Anti-Villains, feeling that they understand his struggles, and vice versa, better than their heroic counterparts. In particular, and in no small part due to the similarity in their tropes, Kuvira has become something of a point of curiosity for him. Both of them find kindred spirits in one another, being antagonistic individuals who are deemed to have quite a good point, but are made out as extremists regardless, which, while they are willing to accept the error of their ways now, they were still in vehement belief that they were right at the time. Eraqus isn't sure what to make of Kuvira's more amoral actions, such as almost killing Bataar Jr. or becoming a tyrant, but he knows what it is like to put a goal ahead of one's loved ones, and recognises that she is truly sorry, so he has chosen not to judge her too harshly for it.
  • In spite of all this, Eraqus was not initially sure what was meant by a "strawman", feeling mild confusion as he noted he was made from flesh and blood like any normal man. Asking around led him in the direction of Stephen Colbert, the God of Straw Characters, who, though initially annoyed at the implication that he didn't have a point, was able to explain it to him. Eraqus now occasionally finds himself spending time with the news reporter, finding him peculiar but somewhat interested in his ramblings about this "America" he speaks of.
  • He has nothing but pity for Shinn Asuka, seeing in him a younger, more messed-up version of himself. From his unhealthy belief in absolutes leading to his insanity, to his painful decision of having to choose between being lawful and being good, he recognises that rather than being seen as simply mad, he needed someone to be there for him, and wonders how differently things would have been if he'd had a good mentor to guide his way. Seeing what Asuka has gone through also made Eraqus take a good look at himself, wondering just how badly he screwed up with the Wayfinder Trio, and how he could have ended up if things had been different - for better or for worse.
  • During his time in training to be a Keyblade Master, Eraqus and Xehanort had an encounter with the Magic Mirror. Fascinated by the talking artefact, Eraqus would ask it all manner of questions, some insightful, some less so, only to be interrupted by Xehanort, who reminded him that they were still on a mission. Seeing it again in the Pantheon was quite unexpected, to say the least, and he simply had to ask some more questions, just for old time's sake.
  • Upon learning about the Venom Symbiote and its nature, Eraqus was left feeling a mix of confusion and plain uncertainty. The Klyntar were made to devour gods and destroy "the Light", which would have made Eraqus instantly declare them in need of eradication. What interests him, however, is that once they were freed from their Hive Mind, they instantly betrayed their creator and attempted to protect the Light instead. Being both a form of corruption and highly corruptible themselves, Eraqus figures they most likely mean well, but need to be guided away from those who would use them for evil.

"Darkness is our enemy. Would that we could be rid of it. Push the darkness down. Give it no quarter in your heart."

    Humbert Humbert

Humbert Humbert, God of Unreliable Narrators

  • Herald: None — he tried to get Dolores installed as his, but to no avail.
  • Allies: Molag Bal, Patrick Bateman, Champ of Wild Hunt
  • Enemies: Esmeralda, Chris Hansen.
  • Pities: Judge Claude Frollo
  • Opposes: Most other pedophiles in the Pantheon, Dorothy Haze.
  • Opposed by: Most of the House of Love and Affection, most notably Chloe von Einzbern and Misato Katsuragi, Toriel, Light Yagami, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, all ascended Princess Evangile deities, Shotaro Kaneda, Stanley Kubrick
  • Conflicting Opinion on: Sigmund Freud, The Kankers, Flonne
  • Banned From: The House of Family and Relatives, the House of Childhood and Adolescence, Vincennes Private Girls' Academy
  • To those who don't know his true colors, Humbert Humbert is nothing more than a typical literary scholar with a Repetitive Name. But he has a dark side he hides from society - in truth, he is a vile pedophile infatuated with "nymphets", with a capacity for crime. In particular, the events of his story showcase him finding the perfect nymphet, and the horrific abuses he inflicts on her in the name of his lust. If you asked Humbert himself, however, he would appear significantly more sympathetic - in his eyes, Dolores, or Lolita, as he prefers to call her, is a promiscuous Fille Fatale, and he is perpetually at her mercy. Whether or not you believe him depends on how much stock you put in his narration.
  • Humbert's ascension came about after his unceremonious death in jail, where he awakened all of a sudden, wondering if he'd obtained some kind of eternal reward for his suffering. This...wasn't the case - instead, he was informed that his story of origin had received such infamy for its Misaimed Fandom and its style of narration that he had been chosen as the God of Unreliable Narrators. He didn't take this news well, insisting that his account had been perfectly accurate, and that he had been the victim in all this and didn't deserve to have his name slandered like this. It took the promise of being able to get the "truth" out there for him to calm down and accept his ascension.
  • Ever since he entered the Pantheon, Humbert has not been very popular, as like-minded individuals are a minority within the deities ascended, and those who would gladly destroy him for his transgressions are much more common. This upsets him, as it makes his noble goal of sharing the truth behind his story much more difficult. In particular, he steers clear of Light Yagami, who not only detests his crimes, but finds his lack of self-awareness unsightly. The irony is lost on nobody, save for Light himself.
  • The general disbelief of his tale in the Pantheon is in no small part due to the intrepid reporting of Chris Hansen. The man specialises in pedophiles, which Humbert exemplifies, and knowing of his story beforehand, it didn't take very long for him to spread the word, culminating in visiting Humbert himself and requesting he have a seat while they discussed his desires. Humbert tried his hardest to convince him that "Lolita" was the Manipulative Bitch he'd painted her as, but he wasn't having any of it, calling him out as the pathetic, predatory moral coward that he was, and making sure everyone knew it. With Humbert's plans all but ruined on arrival, he naturally detests Hansen, a feeling that is completely mutual.
  • As a testament to his overwhelming unpopularity, Humbert has managed to get himself banned from two houses. The House of Family and Relatives wants nothing to do with his twisted idea of "family", while the House of Childhood and Adolescence declares him persona non grata lest he attempt to use its members as a Replacement Goldfish for Dolores. Not that this stops him from trying to find substitutes in other houses.
  • While not banned from the House outright, the House of Love and Affection doesn't like him very much, either. A vast majority of them see his lust for Dolores and other children as something truly heinous, and a cruel perversion of everything they stand for, and even a few of the more sympathetic members of the Hall of Tainted Love like Brynhild and Gabriel Belmont look down on or are disgusted by him. Of particular note:
    • Flonne, the resident Love Freak, was warned about him by Laharl and Etna, who were aware of the rumours surrounding him, but decided to pay him a visit, hoping to find good in his heart. Ditzy as she was, she actually bought into Humbert's sob story at first, and was promptly ridiculed by Etna, who saw it as a blatant load of baloney. Humbert continued to interact with her, enthralled by her purity, but with the time spent with him and the warnings from her friends, she began to notice something off about him and the way he looked at her. Realising he was a pervert, she became incredibly disturbed and cut off ties with him, much to his dismay.
    • While he is naturally drawn to children, he makes an exception for Chloe von Einzbern; he doesn't find her physically unattractive, sure, but he is repulsed by how shamelessly lewd she is, far from the pure little nymphets that most girls her age should be. She's still in his strike zone, though - in his mind, she's obviously manipulating him into lusting after her, and he is utterly blameless in the fantasies that she's far too powerful for him to act on.
    • Misato Katsuragi just finds him to be a horrible person, and one who represents a path she's glad she didn't go down - while she may or may not have some attraction towards Shinji, she'd never act on it in the predatory ways that Humbert specialises in, and though flattered at the attention she gets from younger males, she doesn't take advantage of it. In a sense, she can be considered Humbert's Good Counterpart. On Humbert's part, he just views her as a disgusting whore and privately envies the natural attraction the opposite sex seems to have for her.
    • He doesn't really care too much for the Kankers as individuals, but he is quite intrigued by what they represent. Looking into this perception of female-on-male abuse as more acceptable than the reverse, Humbert has latched onto this as a reason why people are so unwilling to believe all the sins that Dolores has forced him to commit with her sultry wiles.
  • Having had to protect his friends from predators in his home game, Masaya Okonogi is no friend of Humbert's, especially after he caught him making eyes at Konomi Yanase. Though, it's not like Konomi would be unable to defend herself from him, being skilled at wielding the naginata, but Humbert still resents Masaya for getting in his way regardless.
    • This, along with his criminal activity, general track record, and leering at many other students besides Konomi, has gotten him banned from the Vincennes Private Girls' Academy entirely. Naturally, the other ascended students have made him an enemy as well, with Tamie Nogi in particular using her influence in the school newspaper to make his depravities known.
  • He isn't without his allies, however, as some other deities have found themselves able to relate to certain aspects of his character. One notable one is Patrick Bateman, who, like him, has the desire to do various evil actions to those around him, but hides it behind a well-crafted mask. They get along superficially, with Humbert's lack of overt affluence not giving Bateman much to want to kill him over, and Bateman has yet to do so on a whim yet. Humbert, naturally, remains cautious around him, but cannot resist the allure of someone to commiserate with.
  • Molag Bal has taken an interest in him, viewing him as a potentially interesting perpetrator of that which he stands for, and encourages him to be more true to himself and more uninhibited with his desires. Humbert refuses on the grounds that he views himself as a flawed but still decent person, and even he can tell that obeying the orders of the "Daedric Prince of Rape" would be a blemish on the spotless record he perceives himself as having.
  • Despite his specific proclivities, Humbert despises all other pedophiles in the Pantheon, believing them all to be worse than he is, and more distasteful in their actions - not unlike his views on Quilty from his work of origin. Most would view this as hypocritical, and they would be absolutely correct in doing so; most likely, the real problem he has with them is their targeting the nymphets in the Pantheon that he sees as his.
    • One notable exception to this rule is Wild Hunt's Champ, who, while preying on children, does so with a similar mind to Humbert himself, as both see the children they lust after as innocent little angels whose purity must be preserved. Though, Humbert doesn't get the point of killing them, not when he can simply keep them as his and nurture them however he pleases.
  • Having been a teacher in life, he applied for a teaching job at the Elysium Academy. Unsurprisingly, he was rejected. He isn't banned from the house, though.
  • The name of his story, and the name he bestowed upon the young girl he preyed on, is the origin of the term "Lolicon", so people grew curious as to what might come of a meeting between him and Shotaro Kaneda, the progenitor of the term "Shotacon". One chance morning, they did meet, and due to Humbert's interest being restricted to little girls, he didn't really think much of Kaneda. Kaneda, having heard the rumours, felt much more strongly about Humbert, who found himself narrowly avoiding being trampled over by Tetsujin.
  • Despite being named after his beloved "Lolita", Humbert wants nothing to do with Dorothy Haze, and considers her an insult to the real Dolores' memory. Humbert takes umbrage with her sex work, finding her to be far too tainted to use as a Replacement Goldfish, and steers clear of her despite her actually being somewhat willing to indulge him.
  • He really isn't sure what to make of Judge Claude Frollo. He recognises Frollo as a kindred spirit - a man driven to horrendous lust at the hands of a foul temptress, and these feelings drive them both to do actions others decry as horrible. But Frollo, who sees sin everywhere but within, recognises Humbert for what he is - a pitiful idiot making excuses for his own shortcomings. Frollo's refusal to buy into Humbert's rhetoric naturally sours Humbert's opinion on him. If there's one thing he agrees with the man on, it's that Esmeralda is an evil whore who deserves to die in a fiery pit.
  • One of the adaptations of his tale was directed by Stanley Kubrick. Learning of his presence in the Pantheon, Humbert wanted to give the man a personal visit; while he's glad Dolores' death remained unmentioned in this version, which is a plus, he nonetheless wishes the movie was more accurate to the story that Humbert himself wrote, insisting that it was the real version of the events and should be treated as such. His attempts at contacting the man have gone dry, though, as Kubrick does not wish to associate with him in any way.
  • Has found himself on the hit list of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Their group formed in the first place due to the actions of a pedophilic gym teacher, so learning of his crimes hit rather close to home for their founding members, and the fact that he's clearly learned nothing from his crimes and intends to repeat them makes him someone to be dealt with quickly before his bad luck runs out and one of the many little girls in the Pantheon is seriously harmed.
  • He disagrees with the teachings of Sigmund Freud. Humbert's pedophilia stems from his childhood girlfriend dying when he was thirteen years old, with him never really getting over it. But he doesn't think it counts as a Freudian Excuse - after all, he doesn't need one, because he's not so bad a guy, see? Many psychologists both in the Pantheon and out have attempted to profile him, but still he remains utterly unaffected, not least due to most of his unsavory personality traits being unrelated to this trauma, or the possibility that he's making it all up.

  • Hyde Kido is a young man who once lived an ordinary life, only to have that stripped away from him one fateful night. On that day, he was attacked by one of the mysterious creatures known as Voids. Rather than dying, he manifested an immensely powerful ability known as EXS, and was rescued by a girl, Linne, who he had met a few days earlier. Since then, he has been roped into the business of the Night Blade, and wants nothing more than to return to his normal life.
  • One of the most powerful In-Births in his world, Hyde patiently bid his time to get a spot in the Pantheon. An opportunity finally occurred when Orie noted his last name as his alias (albeit in kanji form). Thus, the student seeks out help to stop the next Hollow Night event, should it ever be brought to the Pantheon. Once he met them in the Pantheon, he immediately teamed up with Orie and Vatista to take care of the more malevolent Merkava, Carmine and Hilda. Vatista now spends much of her time in his temple, allowing rumors of a romance to run wild in the House of Love. Hyde has denied this and has specifically told Vatista not to talk about it to anyone. The revelation that he's seen her naked and the two now live together has only added fuel to the fire.
  • One day, Hyde was just minding his own business, bothering nobody else, when all of a sudden, he was attacked by Seth, who challenged him for the Insulator. Hyde was more surprised by the fact that he had ascended in the first place, and soon learned that Linne had ascended with him when she arrived on the scene. He was relieved at that, but chose to ignore her protests and battle Seth, the fight ending in a draw. Ever since, Hyde and Linne have been trying to catch up, though he still has to deal with Seth's insistence on staying by her side.
  • Despite his outgoing attitude, he sometimes wishes he doesn't have to deal with his powers and live his life as a normal boy, and as such, he found his way into the Hall of Power Mentalities, hoping to find someone who shared his plight. While he didn't find such a person in there, he did manage to at least relate to Starkiller, for their shared trait of being good at heart despite the stigma associated with their powers.
    • He was eventually directed over to the Hall of Goals, where he met Claire Bennett, who happens to represent the trope covering his exact predicament. The two of them managed to get along rather swimmingly, both of them appreciating the simple fact that they are not alone in their dilemma.
    • Once, he was approached by a handsome gentleman going by the name of Yoshikage Kira, who revealed that, much like Hyde, he is also a man seeking a quiet, normal life. They chatted for a bit, but Hyde couldn’t help feeling like something was off about him. He had a few more encounters with him, only to one day learn about all the crimes he had committed and the motive behind them. Needless to say, he was disgusted by what he’d learned, so much so that he decided then and there to find something else to bond with people over.
  • It's hard to believe, but most of Hyde's training is self-taught. Terry Bogard was interested in meeting the boy once he found out. He managed to convince Hyde to spar with him, something he was reluctant to do because of his powers. Afterwards, the Southtown handed him one of his hats to wear, something he does from time to time in private. He’s a little too self-conscious to wear it in public, but secretly he finds the headwear to be rather cool. The two also managed to bond over their shared love of Engrish, which puzzles outsiders, and even annoys them from time to time, but they don’t see any problem.
  • Ever since she saved his life, Hyde has dedicated his life to helping Linne. This bond has touched Genos, who has a similar life debt to Saitama. While Hyde isn't quite as powerful yet, Genos has been willing to train with him to get used to his powers. Hyde is somewhat grateful for this, but worries about the sheer extent of Genos’ gratitude to his master. He has since decided to keep his life debt to Linne within moderation, a notion supported by Linne herself.
  • He only pays lip service to Jackie Estacado. He may have similar powers, but has no interest in aiding him in his battles against the light. Still, Hyde isn't antagonistic towards him, recognizing that he is not inherently evil. This hasn’t stopped Jackie from trying, though, as he feels he could use an umbrakinetic of Hyde’s power to help him in his fight.
    • Chernabog on the other hand is a different story. Hyde sides with Sora, hoping to aid him in containing the being. Luckily, Chernabog isn't actively attacking the innocent, since the two are well aware of how dangerous things could get if Chernabog decided one day that it was time to get dangerous. Hyde recognises that unlike Jackie, Chernabog ‘’is’’ evil to the core, and is trying to get his fellow ascended In-Births to help him.
    • His power over darkness has earned him the unfortunate attention of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, who also wishes to have him on his side. He is more interested in studying the Insulator and its unique properties, though taking it from him by force is not out of the question, either. As Hyde has heard about him from Sora, he isn't giving into Ansem anytime soon, though he prefers to just remain out of his way lest he incur the wrath of the rest of the Xehanorts, the concept of whom he’s still wrapping his head around.
  • Samuel Rodrigues took an interest in the boy, especially in his self-taught katana skills. Fighting Hyde all but confirmed his suspicions. He could be a potent fighter with enough experience; experience that he is willing to give. Hyde is fine with the company, even if he is wary of some of the company the samurai hangs out with. He has often wondered what his own designation would be as a Wind of Destruction, at least, though he has no interest in joining. To Sam, he’s more like Raiden, anyway.
  • Heishiro Mitsurugi, on the other hand is a man he would never want to fight against. That's because he knows that the Rōnin would want to make it a fight to the death. Some claim it's for Mitsurugi's own safety; Hyde's shadow powers have the potential to erase any god out of existence, including those in the Pantheon. Hyde, knowing the fight could be lethal either way, wishes to steer clear of Mitsurugi's path.
  • Hyde was rather interested to hear the adventures of Samurai Jack, the wandering swordsman. Against Linne's guidance, he has also offered to help him return to the past to defeat Aku. As the Indulgence of Sever-Rending may be one of the few weapons that can harm the God Made of Evil, Jack finds the offer tempting, but doesn't wish to endanger the brash, inexperienced young boy, and so politely but directly rejects it whenever it comes up, much to Hyde’s dismay.
  • Stays clear of Amane's path whenever he gets the chance. Amane has taken a special interest in the boy. Usually Hyde fits the bill for boys he's attracted to, but one that can also inflict chip damage to his opponents was too enticing to ignore. Hyde adamantly pointed out that he has never paid tribute to Amane nor does he ever plan to.
  • Once asked the Investigation Team about a string of cold case disappearances in his high school. He was certain that it wasn't Hilda or her organization that was responsible, so someone else must have done it. A slew of evidence revealed the perpetrator to be Adachi. This happened to be well before his Heel–Face Turn. Despite this, Hyde hasn't forgiven the former detective for what he did, believing him to be too heinous and his motives too unforgivable. Adachi, for one, isn’t exactly begging for forgiveness, either, so the two aren’t getting along anytime soon, even when fighting together in the clash of fates.
  • The House of Friendship in general has been impressed with his commitment towards his friends. Hyde doesn't even spar with his allies for fear of harming them, as his Insulator is too dangerous and wooden swords aren’t always accessible. With that said, he is more than willing to do whatever it takes to protect them, though he’s a little squeamish when it comes to the idea of killing someone, something Linne criticises him about but doesn’t necessarily fault him for.
    • There is one member that he outright hates, however. Hyde was appalled when he found out what Felix did to his potential friends (or even his allies at the time). It took a long hard conversation from Orie to convince him the marine wasn't worth the effort. To her, sitting with no allies in the House of Friendship is the best punishment for him. Hyde has chosen to listen to her for now, but has made it clear that he won’t hesitate if Felix tries anything funny in the Pantheon.
    • He disapproves of the Hall of Tainted Friendship in general. He values his friends and the idea of friendship, and people who would taint it. He shares this sentiment with Kyo Kusanagi, himself a member of said house, and likens his partnership with Iori with Hyde's own tenuous alliance with Seth. Hyde acknowledges that he has it easy compared to Kyo, however, as he’s observed that Iori is pretty insane, while Seth is, at worst, kind of a dick.
  • Another reason he uses the codename Kido is because his first name enacts fear from those who hear it. Confused, he found out that the other Hyde in the Pantheon is a darker and edgier version of a respected scientist. Horrified by the things his namesake has done, Hyde has sworn to be the best person he can be, and so steers clear of even Dr. Jekyll, unaware of when he might turn into Mr. Hyde and not willing to find out or risk killing or being killed by him.
  • Many depend on Hyde's trickery of alias to keep their real identities a secret. Those who want to find one's true name have deemed him an enemy. Special mention goes to Light Yagami, who found out that L used a similar trick against him, making it difficult for him to distinguish fake aliases with real ones. Hyde himself is doing all he can to stay off Light's hitlist. As for L, while he does acknowledge that Hyde used a clever trick to hide his identity, he otherwise considers the boy too stupid to be of any real help to him, especially after learning he once got Distracted by the Sexy so much that he ended up spilling crucial information to Hilda.
  • He went on to participate in a battle with Ragna the Bloodedge, Yu Narukami and Ruby Rose. There, he became allies with those three as well as Aigis, Naoto Shirogane, Noel Vermillion and Blake Belladonna, though the latter was at first a little wary around him due to his similarities to Adam. In addition, Yukiko Amagi was very grateful when he saved her from eating a meal she and Noel cooked.
    • He did not make it out without any enemies, however, as the space they were in ended up threatened by Yuuki Terumi, who in his Susano'o form nearly destroyed the world they were in and threatened to destroy their homeworlds, too. Nowadays, Terumi wants Hyde dead, due to his Insulator's ability to destroy anything, including immortals like him. Recognising quite acutely that he is way out of his depth taking on a threat like Terumi, however, Hyde gives him a wide berth, and tries to stay clear out of the Dark Susano'o's path, considering him to be even worse than the likes of Hilda.

"An ordinary high school student, huh...? What I wouldn't give to live a life like that."
