* To those who don't know his true colors, Humbert Humbert is nothing more than a typical literary scholar with a RepetitiveName. But he has a dark side he hides from society - in truth, he is a vile pedophile infatuated with "nymphets", with a capacity for crime. In particular, the events of his story showcase him finding the perfect nymphet, and the horrific abuses he inflicts on her in the name of his lust. If you asked Humbert himself, however, he would appear significantly more sympathetic - in his eyes, Dolores, or Lolita, as he prefers to call her, is a promiscuous FilleFatale, and he is perpetually at her mercy. Whether or not you believe him depends on how much stock you put in his narration.
* Humbert's ascension came about after his unceremonious death in jail, where he awakened all of a sudden, wondering if he'd obtained some kind of eternal reward for his suffering. This...wasn't the case - instead, he was informed that his story of origin had received such infamy for its MisaimedFandom and its style of narration that he had been chosen as the God of Unreliable Narrators. He didn't take this news well, insisting that his account had been perfectly accurate, and that he had been the victim in all this and didn't deserve to have his name slandered like this. It took the promise of being able to get the "truth" out there for him to calm down and accept his ascension.
* Ever since he entered the Pantheon, Humbert has not been very popular, as like-minded individuals are a minority within the deities ascended, and those who would gladly destroy him for his transgressions are much more common. This upsets him, as it makes his noble goal of sharing the truth behind his story much more difficult. In particular, he steers clear of Light Yagami, who not only detests his crimes, but finds his lack of self-awareness unsightly. The irony is lost on nobody, save for Light himself.
* The general disbelief of his tale in the Pantheon is in no small part due to the intrepid reporting of Chris Hansen. The man specialises in pedophiles, which Humbert exemplifies, and knowing of his story beforehand, it didn't take very long for him to spread the word, culminating in visiting Humbert himself and requesting he have a seat while they discussed his desires. Humbert tried his hardest to convince him that "Lolita" was the ManipulativeBitch he'd painted her as, but he wasn't having any of it, calling him out as the pathetic, predatory moral coward that he was, and making sure everyone knew it. With Humbert's plans all but ruined on arrival, he naturally detests Hansen, a feeling that is completely mutual.
* As a testament to his overwhelming unpopularity, Humbert has managed to get himself banned from two houses. The House of Pantheon/FamilyAndRelatives wants nothing to do with his twisted idea of "family", while the House of Pantheon/ChildhoodAndAdolescence declares him persona non grata lest he attempt to use its members as a ReplacementGoldfish for Dolores. Not that this stops him from trying to find substitutes in other houses.
* While not banned from the House outright, the House of Pantheon/LoveAndAffection doesn't like him very much, either. A vast majority of them see his lust for Dolores and other children as something truly heinous, and a cruel perversion of everything they stand for, and even a few of the more sympathetic members of the Hall of Pantheon/TaintedLove like Brynhild and Gabriel Belmont look down on or are disgusted by him. Of particular note:
** Flonne, the resident LoveFreak, was warned about him by Laharl and Etna, who were aware of the rumours surrounding him, but decided to pay him a visit, hoping to find good in his heart. Ditzy as she was, she actually bought into Humbert's sob story at first, and was promptly ridiculed by Etna, who saw it as a blatant load of baloney. Humbert continued to interact with her, enthralled by her purity, but with the time spent with him and the warnings from her friends, she began to notice something off about him and the way he looked at her. Realising he was a pervert, she became incredibly disturbed and cut off ties with him, much to his dismay.
** While he is naturally drawn to children, he makes an exception for Chloe von Einzbern; he doesn't find her physically unattractive, sure, but he is repulsed by how shamelessly lewd she is, far from the pure little nymphets that most girls her age should be. She's still in his strike zone, though - in his mind, she's obviously manipulating him into lusting after her, and he is utterly blameless in the fantasies that she's far too powerful for him to act on.
** Misato Katsuragi just finds him to be a horrible person, and one who represents a path she's glad she didn't go down - while she may or may not have some attraction towards Shinji, she'd never act on it in the predatory ways that Humbert specialises in, and though flattered at the attention she gets from younger males, she doesn't take advantage of it. In a sense, she can be considered Humbert's GoodCounterpart. On Humbert's part, he just views her as a disgusting whore and privately envies the natural attraction the opposite sex seems to have for her.
** He doesn't really care too much for the Kankers as individuals, but he is quite intrigued by what they represent. Looking into this perception of female-on-male abuse as more acceptable than the reverse, Humbert has latched onto this as a reason why people are so unwilling to believe all the sins that Dolores has forced him to commit with her sultry wiles.
* Having had to protect his friends from predators in his home game, Masaya Okonogi is no friend of Humbert's, especially after he caught him making eyes at Konomi Yanase. Though, it's not like Konomi would be unable to defend herself from him, being skilled at wielding the naginata, but Humbert still resents Masaya for getting in his way regardless.
** This, along with his criminal activity, general track record, and leering at many other students besides Konomi, has gotten him banned from the Vincennes Private Girls' Academy entirely. Naturally, the other ascended students have made him an enemy as well, with Tamie Nogi in particular using her influence in the school newspaper to make his depravities known.
* He isn't without his allies, however, as some other deities have found themselves able to relate to certain aspects of his character. One notable one is Patrick Bateman, who, like him, has the desire to do various evil actions to those around him, but hides it behind a well-crafted mask. They get along superficially, with Humbert's lack of overt affluence not giving Bateman much to want to kill him over, and Bateman has yet to do so on a whim yet. Humbert, naturally, remains cautious around him, but cannot resist the allure of someone to commiserate with.
* Molag Bal has taken an interest in him, viewing him as a potentially interesting perpetrator of that which he stands for, and encourages him to be more true to himself and more uninhibited with his desires. Humbert refuses on the grounds that he views himself as a flawed but still decent person, and even he can tell that obeying the orders of the "Daedric Prince of Rape" would be a blemish on the spotless record he perceives himself as having.
* Despite his specific proclivities, Humbert despises all other pedophiles in the Pantheon, believing them all to be worse than he is, and more distasteful in their actions - not unlike his views on Quilty from his work of origin. Most would view this as hypocritical, and they would be absolutely correct in doing so; most likely, the real problem he has with them is their targeting the nymphets in the Pantheon that he sees as his.
** One notable exception to this rule is Wild Hunt's Champ, who, while preying on children, does so with a similar mind to Humbert himself, as both see the children they lust after as innocent little angels whose purity must be preserved. Though, Humbert doesn't get the point of killing them, not when he can simply keep them as his and nurture them however he pleases.
* Having been a teacher in life, he applied for a teaching job at the Elysium Academy. Unsurprisingly, he was rejected. He isn't banned from the house, though.
* The name of his story, and the name he bestowed upon the young girl he preyed on, is the origin of the term "Lolicon", so people grew curious as to what might come of a meeting between him and Shotaro Kaneda, the progenitor of the term "Shotacon". One chance morning, they did meet, and due to Humbert's interest being restricted to little girls, he didn't really think much of Kaneda. Kaneda, having heard the rumours, felt much more strongly about Humbert, who found himself narrowly avoiding being trampled over by Tetsujin.
* Despite being named after his beloved "Lolita", Humbert wants nothing to do with Dorothy Haze, and considers her an insult to the real Dolores' memory. Humbert takes umbrage with her sex work, finding her to be far too tainted to use as a ReplacementGoldfish, and steers clear of her despite her actually being somewhat willing to indulge him.
* He really isn't sure what to make of Judge Claude Frollo. He recognises Frollo as a kindred spirit - a man driven to horrendous lust at the hands of a foul temptress, and these feelings drive them both to do actions others decry as horrible. But Frollo, who sees sin everywhere but within, recognises Humbert for what he is - a pitiful idiot making excuses for his own shortcomings. Frollo's refusal to buy into Humbert's rhetoric naturally sours Humbert's opinion on him. If there's one thing he agrees with the man on, it's that Esmeralda is an evil whore who deserves to die in a fiery pit.
* One of the adaptations of his tale was directed by Stanley Kubrick. Learning of his presence in the Pantheon, Humbert wanted to give the man a personal visit; while he's glad Dolores' death remained unmentioned in this version, which is a plus, he nonetheless wishes the movie was more accurate to the story that Humbert himself wrote, insisting that it was the real version of the events and should be treated as such. His attempts at contacting the man have gone dry, though, as Kubrick does not wish to associate with him in any way.
* Has found himself on the hit list of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Their group formed in the first place due to the actions of a pedophilic gym teacher, so learning of his crimes hit rather close to home for their founding members, and the fact that he's clearly learned nothing from his crimes and intends to repeat them makes him someone to be dealt with quickly before his bad luck runs out and one of the many little girls in the Pantheon is seriously harmed.
* He disagrees with the teachings of Sigmund Freud. Humbert's pedophilia stems from his childhood girlfriend dying when he was thirteen years old, with him never really getting over it. But he doesn't think it counts as a FreudianExcuse - after all, he doesn't need one, because he's not so bad a guy, see? Many psychologists both in the Pantheon and out have attempted to profile him, but still he remains utterly unaffected, not least due to most of his unsavory personality traits being unrelated to this trauma, or the possibility that he's making it all up.

* As a testament to his overwhelming unpopularity, Humbert has managed to get himself banned from two houses. Not that this stops him from trying to find substitutes in other houses.
* While not banned from the House outright, the House of Pantheon/LoveAndAffection doesn't like him very much, either.
