Main Universe Heroes

    General

  • Alternate Self: In a loose technicality because they are the main universe superheroes, but in the Injustice universe, they are the alternates.
  • Good Counterpart: Most of them serve as this to their Regime Counterparts.
  • Non-Indicative Name: None of the superheroes from this universe appear in the sequel, making the Injustice universe the "main" universe of the franchise.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Their reaction to their Regime versions, calling out their fallen ways and aspiring to stop them.
  • Shadow Archetype: Near One-for-One opposites of their Regime versions. They represent who their counterparts were before they fell, and in turn, the Regime versions represent a morally twisted version of themselves.

    Superman

Superman / Clark Joseph Kent / Kal-El

Species: Kryptonian

Voiced by: George Newbern (games); Justin Hartley (animated film) (English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-SUPERMAN1_4204.png
You stole this planet's freedom. It's time to give it back!

The Man of Steel, and the DC Universe's greatest superhero. Born Kal-El on the distant planet Krypton, he was sent away in a rocket by his parents as an infant to avoid the planet's imminent destruction. Landing on Earth and adopted by a kindly farming couple who renamed him Clark Kent, he discovered that absorbing the yellow light of the Earth's sun gave him incredible powers. Moving to Metropolis as an adult and getting a job as a reporter for the Daily Planet, he now protects his adopted world from evil and fights for truth, justice, and the American way as Superman.

  • 11th-Hour Ranger: The main universe Superman doesn't come into the Injustice universe until the final chapter. But when he does, he absolutely floors everyone he fights.
  • The Ace: As per usual with Superman. He's regarded as the greatest and most powerful hero of them all, and that's really saying something. And he truly lives up to his reputation in the story as well, effortlessly defeating Black Adam and Sinestro, the latter without any effort; and then beating down Aquaman, Doomsday and finally, his own evil counterpart, all in quick succession. Wow.
  • Action Dad: His wife Lois is one month pregnant.
  • Adaptational Wimp: While still an 11th-Hour Ranger in animated film he actually loses to his Injustice counterpart since he was holding back while his counterpart was using all his strength.
  • Adapted Out: Subverted in the animated film as he's the only character from the normal DC universe to appear.
  • Alliterative Name: His given name and surname begin with the same sound.
  • And the Adventure Continues: His victory cutscene for all his costumes (apart from Regime Superman and Cyborg Superman) involves flying into space and rushing to answer a cry for help.
  • And This Is for...: "For truth and justice!"
  • Badass Cape: Attached by his logo, no less.
  • Battle Intro: He has the distinction of being the only character so far to have a different one for different outfits. His Primary costume has him tearing off his business suit, his Regime, Lockdown, and Cyborg Superman costume sees him reinforcing Gas Mask Mooks, and all of his remaining costumes have him flying out of the Fortress of Solitude.
  • Big Good: Of the Justice League. Oddly enough, he doesn't get much of an opportunity to demonstrate this until the end of the game. But when he does...
  • Blue Is Heroic: His costume is primarily blue and he's one of the greatest superheroes in the DC Universe.
  • Brought to You by the Letter "S": His iconic logo. His Red Son costume replaces it with the symbol of Soviet Russia.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome
Aquaman: Clark sometimes forgets he can't do everything himself.
  • Clark Kenting: Sheds it off during the Battle Intro for his primary costume.
  • Combo Platter Powers: As one might expect from the Man of Steel.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Not as a regular character trait, but it tends to show up in some of his Clash dialogue.
    Zod: Why prolong your suffering?!
Superman: I enjoy spending time with you!
  • Decomposite Character: His role of defeating his Injustice counterpart is given to a Lois Lane from a third universe, who is able to convince him to surrender after he had beaten Superman.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The story mode is intercut with Superman attempting to rescue his teammates from the Injustice universe; a sharp contrast to his Evil Counterpart. In his chapter, his first action is to organize how to take down the Regime while minimizing collateral damage. The alternate Batman even states that it's good to have him back.
  • Evil Me Scares Me:
Superman: We never know what we're truly capable of.
    • In his ending, unsettled by his fight with his Evil Counterpart, Superman ingests a Kryptonite piece that can be remotely detonated by a trigger which changes hands between each of the Justice League members, in case he ever goes down his counterpart's path. Appropriately enough, Batman has been denied a shift with the trigger.
  • Extremity Extremist: He almost exclusively uses his fists in battle.
  • A Father to His Men: He spends most of story mode trying to locate the missing Leaguers and won't allow the Flash to endanger himself in the attempt. Their safety is also his first priority when he's finally pulled into the !Injustice universe, insisting they need him before he can take on his Regime counterpart.
  • The Fettered: Discussed and lampshaded at the ending. After witnessing Regime Superman's actions, Superman admits that he could fall into the same temptations as his Regime counterpart did. The difference is that Big Blue doesn't allow himself to give in to them. During the final fight, Big Blue also invokes the A God I Am Not trope to Regime Superman.
  • First-Name Basis: With his fellows in the Justice League.
  • Flight: He doesn't even stand; he hovers just above the ground.
  • The Glasses Come Off: When he sheds his business suit during his primary costume's Battle Intro, he takes off his glasses first.
  • A God I Am Not: Superman has enough power to take on actual Gods but he sees himself as a mild mannered reporter who just happens to be Superman. Becomes "A God I Am Not and Neither Are You" to his Evil Counterpart.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Injustice universe Batman refuses to bring him in to his universe because he believes that "one Superman in this world is enough" despite the main universe heroes' insistence. He eventually relents after a speech from the main Batman (and a thorough beatdown beforehand) and transports him into his universe. This decision ends up proving beneficial as he manages to consecutively take down several of the strongest Regime members and then defeating the tyrannical Superman once and for all.
  • Heat Vision: Used liberally throughout his moveset. The story mode has a mini-game in which he deflects Black Adam's attacks with his heat vision alone.
  • The Hero: Takes over the role from both Batmen once he's brought in by the Insurgency, since he's the one to finally stop his Regime counterpart.
  • Home Base: The Fortress of Solitude, which he flies out from it in his New 52, Red Son and Godfall costume's Battle Intro.
  • Hope Bringer: Things are generally dire until he is summoned to the Regime universe. He instantly turns the tide of the battle once he arrives.
  • Ideal Hero: He's Superman, this is a given. What makes this more interesting, however, is that he is taking on a Superman whose benevolence and honor faltered badly. In the end of the story, he admits that if he was put through the same breaking like his Regime counterpart, he might react the same way. If anything, Superman knows ideal is not the same thing as perfect.
  • Instant-Win Condition: Superman spends the entire game brainstorming from behind the scenes, so it's very satisfying when, upon his arrival to the Injustice universe, he kicks everyone's asses in a single sitting.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Subverted in gameplay terms but played straight otherwise. He is said to be both "faster than a speeding bullet" and "more powerful than a locomotive", but in gameplay terms he is neither the fastest nor physically strongest character in the game, in terms of game mechanics. He's still pretty fast and strong though.
    • Indeed, while he is a decent balance of speed and strength in gameplay his actual animations really do emphasize this aspect, with powerful shockwaves from his impacts and speed-blurring visual effects that are similar to the Flash's.
    • One of his basic combos is to rush the enemy and knock them across the stage with a flurry of punches, before casually flipping them into the air with a flick of the hand. Not particularly damaging, but cool to look at.
    • Played very straight in his Super Move though. It is one of the fastest (both, in execution as well as the visual presentation once it connects) and most damaging moves in the game.
  • Meteor Move: His Supermove involves punching his opponent into the thermosphere and back.
  • Mother Russia Makes You Strong: His Red Son costume.
  • Name From Another Species: Inverted. Clark, a Kryptonian, is adopted by humans and given a human name. His original name is Kal-El.
  • Nice Guy: Naturally. He even initially expresses sympathy for his Regime counterpart's loss before acknowledging he's too far gone, and takes no offense to Insurgency Batman's warning to him in the ending.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Man of Steel after all, Superman can power through terrible punishment without looking worse for the wear. Though, in gameplay terms, that's true for everyone.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: In the end of the story, he admits that if he was put through the same breaking like his Regime counterpart, he might react the same way. He hopes the day never comes to pass, though Insurgency Batman tells him that if it does pass, he'll come hunt him down.
  • One-Man Army: Compare and contrast how much the Insurgency struggles against the regime, even with the prime universe heroes on their side; against how thoroughly Superman mops the floor with them once he enters the picture.
  • The Paragon: Superman leads by example, standing by his no killing policy and encouraging others to do the same. Notably, he is able to convince Yellow Lantern to do the right thing and surrender, turning over his yellow Power Ring.
  • Power Glows: Whenever he uses his Character Power, Superman himself is glows red, while the yellow parts of his shield shine brightly.
  • Primary-Color Champion: As always.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: In his "Godfall" costume, though that's more "morally ambiguous" than evil. Ditto for his Red Son costume borders on this, having dark shades of grey instead of black.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes glow red when using his heat vision and when initiating his Super attack. Injustice Superman shows these right before the credits roll at the end of the storyline.
  • Series Mascot: Of DC Comics, alongside Batman.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Against Regime Superman in their confrontation, as well as in their clash quotes.
Regime Superman: I saved this world!
Superman: Now I'll save it from you!

Regime Superman: You just don't get it!
    Superman: You're right, I don't.
  • Signature Move: The famous single or double-fisted flying punch, actually called a Superman punch in real life.
  • Skill Gate Characters: His heat vision, especially the aerial, is rather hard to jump over, and can do massive damage even when blocked. However, he lacks in high-skill moves, instead using the powers he has to brute force his way through.
  • Smug Super: Downplayed. About half his Clash quotes are him saying "I'm stronger than you" although this is less lording his powers than trying to get the other guy to back down without a fight, if not a statement of the fact that he won the Superpower Lottery and really is just that powerful.
Aquaman: What makes you think you'll win?
    Superman: I'm Superman!
  • Story-Breaker Power: The story mode would've been much, much shorter if the Insurgency had thought of bringing him much earlier.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: He is the bigger fish who gets summoned by the Insurgency in the final chapter of story mode and his presence instantly turns the tide of the final battle in their favor.
  • Super-Breath: Which becomes freeze breath when Enhanced.
  • Superheroes Wear Capes: One of the Trope Codifiers. He doesn't have the S symbol on the cape though.
  • Superpower Lottery: As one might expect from the Man of Steel.
  • Super-Speed: Very superficial, but it's present in some of his animations even if the attack isn't particularly fast.
  • Super-Strength: Enough to punch someone into space.
  • Two First Names: Three first names in fact as "Joseph" and "Kent" are also usable as first names.
  • Underwear of Power: His Red Son costume has a subtle case of dark grey pants with slightly lighter grey underwear. Averted otherwise, as his default costume takes after his New 52 one, which is also available, and his Man of Steel and Godfall costumes lack this aspect as well.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Lex Luthor's kidnapping Lois Lane sends him into one of these for the entirety of his S.T.A.R. Labs Missions arc, to the point that he fights other superheroes who try to calm him down.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: He's appalled when his alternate counterpart tells him that his protection punishes disobedient children and tells him that he can't decide who lives and who dies.

    Batman

Batman / Bruce Thomas Wayne

Species: Human

Voiced by: Kevin Conroy (English)note

Stay down.

As a child, wealthy philanthropist Bruce Wayne was forced to watch as his parents were gunned down right in front of him by a mugger. Resolving to do something about the rampant crime and corruption in Gotham City that took his parents' lives, he dedicated his life to achieving absolute perfection in physical fitness, martial arts skill, deductive reasoning, stealth, and gadgetry to become the Batman, the dark vigilante of the night, feared by superstitious and cowardly criminals everywhere.

    Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman / Diana of Themyscira / Diana Prince

Species: Amazon

Voiced by: Susan Eisenberg (English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-WONDER_WOMAN1_3498.png
We are to give service, help the innocent; save the lives of friend and foe. That is our way.

The princess of the Amazons from the island of Themyscira, Diana Prince was made an ambassador to Man's World when she rescued military pilot Steve Trevor and left her island to return him to his homeland. Empowered by the Greek gods and armed with her magical lasso, bracelets, tiara, sword, and shield, Diana fights evil as the Spirit of Truth to protect the virtues of love and compassion.

    The Flash

Flash / Bartholemew Henry "Barry" Allen

Species: Metahuman

Voiced by: Neal McDonough (English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/225px-THE_FLASH1_2157.png
Catch me if you can!

Barry Allen was an ordinary forensic scientist looking to solve his mother's murder and free his wrongfully accused father from prison. One day, a freak lab accident involving a lightning bolt and a shelf of chemicals altered his biology and granted him a connection to the all-powerful Speed Force, enabling him to move and think at incredible speeds, have an astounding level of control over the atoms in his body, and so much more. Using these newfound abilities, he defends Central City as The Flash, the Fastest Man Alive.

    Nightwing

Nightwing / Richard John "Dick" Grayson

Species: Human

Voiced by: Troy Baker (English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-NIGHTWING1_3548.png
Circus is leaving town.

Dick Grayson was the son of two famed circus acrobats known as the Flying Graysons. One fateful show, his parents were killed by mobsters after the circus owner refused to pay them as part of a protection racket. The young orphan was approached by Batman, who could empathize with his situation, and trained him to become his sidekick Robin, the Boy Wonder. The Dynamic Duo fought together for many years, until Dick grew up and decided to strike out on his own. Moving to the neighboring city of Blüdhaven, he established himself as the new hero Nightwing.

  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: A bird, but less overt then Robin's.
  • Badass Biker: Not only does he drive into battle on a Cool Bike, but it also features into his Supermove.
  • Badass Normal: One of the "Gadget" type characters, able to hold his own with the likes of Superman despite having only skill to rely on.
  • Badass in Distress: First of his STARS Lab mission involve getting kidnapped by Deathstroke and wakes up Strapped to an Operating Table, and has to work his way out to get out and kick his captors' asses. Doubles as a Mythology Gag on how much he got caught a lot as Robin. Also, Raven's STARS Lab mission involve getting him out of being trapped in a rubble (and that's before he teams up with Cyborg to calm a rampaging Raven down several missions later).
  • Battle Boomerang: Can throw "Wing-Dings" (bird-themed Batarangs) while jumping.
  • Bifurcated Weapon: He can combine his eskrima sticks into a staff.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Per usual, Nightwing's outfit sports blue color scheme. It also puts him in contrast to the more morally ambiguous Regime Nightwing/Damian Wayne, who wears red and sides with Regime Superman.
  • Car Fu: He doesn't ram the opponent with his motorcycle, per se, but drive-by gauntlet slashes are pretty darn close.
  • The Charmer: Some of his unique clash quotes against female opponents can be flirtatious.
  • Composite Character: Uses Tim Drake's staff alongside his escrima sticks, has a violently antagonistic sibling rivalry with Damian also like Drake. And has Tim Drake's voice.
  • Cool Bike: Used in his Battle Intro and his Supermove.
  • Demoted to Extra: Sadly, he only gets five lines in story mode.
  • Domino Mask: It's even in the shape of a bird logo.
  • Dual Wielding: Wields two electrified eskrima sticks that can combine into a staff.
  • Old Friend: To Cyborg and Raven, since all three were on the Teen Titans together.
  • Pungeon Master: Occasionally, since he's fighting with a stick.
    "Stick around! Heh, get it?"
  • Shock and Awe: His eskrima sticks are electrified, as are his gauntlets in his Supermove.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Batman.

    Cyborg

Cyborg / Victor "Vic" Stone

Species: Metahuman (human cyborg)

Voiced by: Khary Payton (English)note

Don't mess with the best.

Young football star Victor Stone was in a terrible accident that killed his mother and destroyed most of his body. His scientist father, desperate to save his son, rebuilt him using cutting-edge technology, rendering him half-man and half-machine. Joining up with the Teen Titans and later the Justice League, Cyborg uses his state-of-the-art enhancements for the good of humanity.

    Green Arrow

Green Arrow / Oliver Jonas Queen

Species: Human

Voiced by: Alan Tudyk/Stephen Amell (Arrow DLC costume only)(English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-GREEN_ARROW1_2662.png
Now that's what I call an entrance.

Star City billionaire Oliver Queen was an irreverent playboy who cared for little until he was shipwrecked on a remote island as the only survivor of a storm. Forced to survive on his own for many years, he became incredibly skilled with a bow and arrow. Upon being rescued and returning home a more humble man, he donned a high tech bow and an arsenal of differently-functioning arrows to fight crime as the Green Arrow.

    Green Lantern

Green Lantern / Harold "Hal" Jordan

Species: Human

Voiced by: Adam Baldwin/Phil LaMarr (John Stewart DLC Costume Only)(English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/225px-Greenlantern1_2545.png
Once a Green Lantern, always a Green Lantern.

Fearless test pilot Hal Jordan discovered a crashed alien spacecraft on a run one day. The dying alien, named Abin Sur, was a member of an interstellar police force known as the Green Lantern Corps, whose rings granted the wielders the power to create energy constructs out of green light, fueled by the user's own willpower. Abin Sur's ring chose Jordan as its new wielder upon his death, and Hal became the first human recruit in the history of the Corps. With his ring, he protects Space Sector 2814 from all kinds of galactic threats.

  • Ace Pilot: His backstory. His supermove references this by having it end with him creating a bunch of planes and missiles with his ring and bringing them all down on an enemy.
  • And This Is for...: One of his Clash quotes is "For the Corps!"
  • Badass Creed: His above quote qualifies. Also the Green Lantern oath.
  • The Cameo: Not him personally, but a host of his fellow Green Lanterns join him in his victory pose, including Kilowog, Tomar-Re, and Ch'p. The Guardians can also be seen in the background of his Supermove, which takes place (or projects the image of being) on Oa.
  • Carry a Big Stick: One of his constructs is some kind of spiked club/bat. He starts off his Supermove by hitting his opponent with a giant hammer construct.
  • Color Character: Green Lantern.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Just think of it this way: green = good, yellow = evil.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: John Stewart is a dead ringer for Idris Elba. His short-cropped hair, beard and facial structure are identical. This is not the first time that Idris Elba being cast as John Stewart has been discussed.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Particularly against his Regime counterpart.
  • Domino Mask: A non-essential addition to his uniform, but he likes to keep his identity secret.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Not only is he gifted amazing abilities through his Green Lantern Ring, but he's also an ace U.S. Air Force veteran with several powerful attacks that don't specifically rely on said ring.
  • Epic Flail: Lantern can construct a flail that honestly isn't very big, but it does the job.
  • Flight: One of the powers provided by his Green Lantern Ring. Like several characters, his default stance is hovering just above the ground.
  • Gatling Good: One of Lantern's default moves is to summon a giant mini-gun (possibly in reference to his career as a pilot) and firing it at his opponent.
  • Light Is Good: Green Lantern's light of willpower, after all.
  • Lock-and-Load Montage: His Battle Intro does the closest equivalent for a Green Lantern: charging up with his Power Battery.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: He creates a shield to protect him from an attack by Sinestro in one of the cutscenes.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Uses several missiles across his moveset, both as regular moves and during his Supermove.
  • Palette Swap: His alternate costume is a re-skinned version of his Sinestro Corps uniform.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Before fighting his Yellow Lantern counterpart:
"Save it, time to kick my ass!"
  • Ramming Always Works: Uses a jet engine as a flying battering ram with several of his moves. His Supermove uses buses and whole fighter planes as well.
  • Ring of Power: His Green Lantern Ring, of course.
  • Scary Black Man: John Stewart is a heroic example.
  • Shoulders of Doom: A mild case with his alternate costume/Sinestro Corps outfit.
  • The Smart Guy: It isn't long before he figures out there's a discrepancy at the Ferris Aircraft facility of the Injustice Universe.
Green Lantern: (walking down a hallway) Where did you say the [power] battery was?
Ring: Carol Ferris' office. Left at the next hallway, third door on the right.
Green Lantern: (stops, beats) It's the fourth door...
  • The Straight and Arrow Path: Green Lantern launches a number of arrow constructs when fighting a Yellow Lantern in a cutscene.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Green Lantern gives one to Yellow Lantern when they clash.
Yellow Lantern: I'll teach you fear!
Green Lantern: I'm a bad student.
  • Super-Strength: His ring allows him to execute feats of strength on par with the likes of Superman if he so wishes.
  • There Was a Door: Forcefully invoked in his throw, wherein he constructs a brick wall specifically to smash his opponent through it.
  • Tractor Beam: He can simply latch onto his opponent with his ring's light without making a restraining construct.
  • Tron Lines: Both his primary and secondary designs feature this, particularly his secondary.
  • Underwear of Power: His secondary costume has the outline of such with glowing Tron Lines.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: In their Clash quotes, Green Lantern calls out his Injustice Universe counterpart for joining up with their arch-enemy, Sinestro.
Green Lantern: How could you join Sinestro?!
Yellow Lantern: Fear's a powerful weapon.

    Shazam

Shazam / William Joseph "Billy" Batson

Species: Metahuman

Voiced by: Joey Naber (English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/225px-Shazam1_2963.png
You can't beat Earth's mightiest mortal.
Ten-year-old Billy Batson was a homeless orphan with a difficult life. Despite this, he remained a kind, pure, and innocent soul, which attracted the attention of an ancient, all-powerful wizard. Summoning Billy to the Rock of Eternity, the wizard granted his power to the boy, summoned by calling upon the name of the wizard: Shazam. Upon saying the incantation, Billy is transformed into an adult superhero gifted with the Wisdom of Solomon, the Strength of Hercules, the Stamina of Atlas, the Thunder of Zeus, the Courage of Achilles, and the Speed of Mercury. With this power, Billy fought evil as Earth's Mightiest Mortal, Captain Marvel!

...Until legal complications and brand confusion made DC change his name to "Shazam".

    Aquaman

Aquaman / Arthur Curry / King Orin of Atlantis

Species: Human/Atlantean hybrid

Voiced by: Phil LaMarr (English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/225px-Aquaman1_3617.png
I'm the King of Atlantis! I answer to no one!

Born of a human father and an Atlantean mother, Arthur Curry is the rightful ruler of the undersea kingdom of Atlantis. With his power to survive in the ocean depths; granting him incredible strength, speed, and durability even on land; his powerful Trident of Poseiden, and his ability to control sea life, Aquaman fights for both sides of his heritage, despite an undeserved reputation as a lame superhero.

  • Adaptational Badass: Not that he isn't badass in the comics, but this version can handle Shazam and Flash at the same time. Either of those would be way too much for Arthur in the comics.
  • And This Is for...: One of his Clash quotes is "For Atlantis!"
  • As You Know: So he and the player first learn how the Injustice universe came to be, he asks an Atlantian historian about Superman's rise to power.
  • Badass Boast: His above quote.
  • The Cavalry: He leads an army of giant crab-like creatures during the Battle of Stryker's Island.
  • Determinator: As evidenced in his combat trailer when initiating a Clash against characters with whom he has a history.
    Wonder Woman: Poseidon abandoned you!
Aquaman: Don't need his help here!

    Superman: You lose, Arthur!
    Aquaman: Never to you, Clark!
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: He gets a badass one against Ares before proceeding to give him a beatdown.
Ares: You presume to command me?
Aquaman: I do. And you will obey!
  • The Good King: "My rule has always been absolute. I protect my people against anyone eager to claim the sea as their own."
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has a diagonal scar across his face with his Flashpoint costume.
  • Guile Hero: The good version of Aquaman, unsure of whether he's in an altered timeline or different universe, manages to convince everybody that he's in the know and their own version of Aquaman; at least until he reads the treaty and responds how Aquaman should.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A noble protector of both land and sea.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Atlanteans are humans with a handful of fish-like qualities like breathing water and surviving oceanic pressure. Depending on the continuity Aquaman himself may have had one human parent and one Atlantean parent making him a more literal example.
    • Confirmed in Injustice 2 that Aquaman had a human parent.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Controlling sea life is lame? His army of Giant Enemy Crabs and fleet of massive Threatening Sharks would like a word with you.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: His Supermove has him skewer his opponent on the trident and hoist him/her upwards to use as chum for a Threatening Shark.
  • Kneel Before Zod: Invoked in one of his clash quotes, where he demands that his opponent "kneel before the king".
  • The Lancer: Alongside Hal Jordan in Story Mode.
  • Making a Splash: As one might expect, the King of Atlantis uses a lot of water-based magic. He can teleport sections of his trident through small pools, he can create a temporary wave-like shield, and his Supermove involves flooding the arena so a Threatening Shark can join the fray.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Wields his iconic trident.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: In his Flashpoint costume. More of a dark orange than red, actually, but the principle is the same.
  • Religious Bruiser: He worships Poseidon/Neptune, as shown both in one of his clash quotes ("Poseidon take you!") and his reference to Neptune after depleting his enemy's first health bar.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: He's the King of Atlantis and answers to no one.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: He rejects the Regime's treaty to subjugate Atlantis despite it already being accepted by the Regime universe's Aquaman.
  • Shock and Awe: He can channel electricity through his trident during his throw, while he has his opponent pinned to the floor.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: He doesn't simply speak to fish; he implants his will into their minds.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: When he first arrives at Injustice universe-Atlantis, he asks a historian for a recap of the One Earth government and plays along when the historian assumes it's for the upcoming treaty negotiations.
  • Take That!: To Regime!Flash and Regime!Shazam during their visit to Atlantis.
    "You two make sorry diplomats."
  • Threatening Shark: His Battle Intro features him swimming alongside an entourage of extremely big sharks with even larger teeth. His Supermove lets him flood the arena to feed his opponent to one.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: Averted. The game depicts him faithfully as a total badass on both land and sea, and actually played a big role in lessening general audience perception of him as a Memetic Loser stemming from his Super Friends incarnation.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He does not like his Regime self's foreign policy and eventually reprimands him for it.
"You would give away your kingdom, like a pair of worn boots, to a surface-dweller!?"

Time to bring the hammer down!

A winged warrior from the planet Thanagar, Shayera Hall, along with her Love Interest Carter Hall/Hawkman, has quite a... complicated origin and history, to say the least. Basically, winged superheroine with a mace, that's all you really need to know here.

"Watch out, Joker. This one looks kinda tough!" Really? I think you underestimate me!

Batman's eternal Arch-Enemy, a psychopathic Monster Clown with a sadistic sense of humor, a wide array of joke-based gadgets, and a keen strategic mind despite his rampant insanity. His origins are unknown and contradictory, possibly even to himself, but what is certain is that at one point he fell into a vat of chemicals that changed his appearance and erased any sort of mental restraint. The Joker loves nothing more than to spread chaos, death, and anarchy in his never-ending duel with the Dark Knight, all for the sake of a good laugh.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: He's as bleach white as always.
  • Arch-Enemy: The Joker is the Batman's nemesis, which is showcased during the climax of the first chapter, when the villain tries to detonate a nuclear bomb to obliterate Metropolis alongside the caped crusader and himself. Additionally, the Joker's own chapter begins with a vicious battle against Batman that concludes with him nearly killing the hero.
  • Ax-Crazy: As Arkham's premiere resident, He has a sick sense of humor and a penchant for bringing smiles to the faces of everyone he meets, usually through the deadliest of means.
  • Adaptational Badass: While he's no stranger to fisticuffs, typically, he's more of a schemer than a fighter. Here, on the other hand, he's more than capable of going toe to toe with the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman, in part because of the Kryptonian pill.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: As part of his iconic ensemble, he is rarely seen out of his signature purple suit, which certainly isn't cheap. He's complimented it with a Kevlar vest and shoulder plates.
  • Badass Normal: The Joker lacks superpowers, but is a "Gadget" character whose weapons are deadly enough to make him a threat.
  • Blatant Lies: One of his end round quotes is "I hit because I care."
  • Boom, Headshot!: His Supermove includes two point-blank shots: one with a revolver, the other with a rocket launcher!
  • Bright Is Not Good: He may have a very colorful appearance, is an Ax-Crazy supervillain.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: He quite visibly resembles Cesar Romero.
  • Crowbar Combatant: Many of his heavier attacks involve striking the foe with his good old crowbar.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: When the Joker is transported to the Injustice universe alongside the heroes from his own reality, he comically exclaims that "This is somehow (Batman's) fault". He turns out to be correct, as the Batman from the Insurgency summoned them to help in the fight against Superman's Regime.
  • Dark Messiah: Always the giver, he invokes this when he wind up in the Injustice Universe, attempting to rally the Joker Clan against the Regime. He took this even further in his Classic Battle ending, where he goes out of his way to create the Joker Clan in his own universe.
  • Dead Guy Puppet: He uses the cop he slew as one in his Battle Intro as one.
Cop Joker: (in a deliberately horrible Irish accent) Watch out, Joker! This one looks kinda tough!
  • Dead Person Impersonation: Harley from the Injustice universe accuses him of this when in fact he is the Joker, just not the one from her reality.
  • Death Dealer: The minigame in Chapter 4 has him throwing playing cards at Regime Nightwing.
  • Domestic Abuser: As usual, he is rough with both versions of Harley Quinn. He slaps his girlfriend in the first chapter when she speaks out of turn, and is shown happily pummeling the alternate Harley in his own chapter.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Before he was officially confirmed to be playable, his legendary bio was shown on Batman's little computer in one of the trailers.
  • Fighting Clown: Not only does he have a bunch of nasty tricks and gizmos certain to make you grin, but he's far from a physical pushover.
  • For the Evulz: The Joker has no long-term goal and only desires to bring chaos to the world. His ending shows him committing multiple acts of terrorism for no purpose other than wreaking havoc across the globe.
  • Glasgow Grin: Not only does he sport one, his special laughing gas forces one on his victims.
  • Good Counterpart: Played with. Regime Nightwing briefly wonders if he's indeed a hero when he denies being a criminal like Batman.
Joker: It’s just that Batman corrupts young minds. While I... bash them out of their skulls.
  • Graceful Loser: His defeated pose has a comparatively good-natured chuckle to it.
  • Gun And Sword: He can shoot a revolver with an offhand while wielding a knife.
  • Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist: His tourist outfit happens to be DLC.
  • Hollywood Acid: As usual, he is able to shoot a stream of the stuff from his jacket's trick flower.
  • Hyperspace Arsenal: While the ability to conceal a crowbar and pistol in his clothes is believable, there is no conceivable way for him to hide those large Joker Toxin canisters and the rocket launcher for his Supermove.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Several of his attacks have him whacking the opponent with a container of Joker Toxin.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: After defeating Insurgency Harley in the Story Mode, he acts surprisingly sweet to her. However, when the girl isn't able to defeat Luthor, he returns to mistreating her. After Luthor wins, he attempted to make up with Harley, but she tried to kill him, only for Lex to talk her down.
  • The Last Dance: He tries to invoke this when taunting Batman at the site of the nuke.
Joker: What's say we have one last dance?
  • Lean and Mean: Similar to others portrayals, he's not exactly buff.
  • Locked into Strangeness: His hair is permanently died green, thanks to a spill at Ace Chemicals.
  • Monster Clown: His white skin and green hair? Permanent thanks to a chemical spill.
  • Mythology Gag: He has scars on his face to give him the Glasgow smile and a knife in his boot, much like Heath Ledger's version.
  • Nominal Hero: Amazingly enough, he actually becomes one when he gets sucked into the Regime universe, as Superman's tyranny has caused some people to turn to him. However, none of the superheroes trust him.
  • Perpetual Smiler: He is always seen with a vicious Slasher Smile.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Once Injustice Universe Harley recognizes him after they tussle, he decided to throw her a bone.
    • Batgirl beating Harley up in the former's S.T.A.R. Labs missions also results in the Joker deciding to double-team her with the Scarecrow.
  • Pie in the Face: His Supermove opens with him temporarily blinding his opponent with a cream pie.
  • Poison Is Evil: Batman outright states that the Joker is pure evil, and the villain employs Joker Toxin in a fair portion of his moveset.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: His primary weapon is a knife, of course. Guns tend to be too quick, after all.
  • The Sociopath: His Battle Intro involves using a dead police officer as a puppet), and his victory cutscene involves setting someone on fire.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Not exactly a "teammate", but he's the only main universe villain to get transported into the Regime Universe, opposes Regime Superman on principle and becomes a Nominal Hero.
  • Unreliable Narrator: When speaking to the Joker Clan, half truths notwithstanding:
Joker: You all know what happened in the Metropolis incident. Superman killed those people! Then he tried to kill me!
  • Villainous Crush: Notably nearly all of his lash Quotes with Catwoman have him stating he has the hots for her.
  • Why Won't You Die?: One of his possible lines after depleting his opponent's first health bar is "just die already!"
  • You Have Failed Me: Joker attempts to kill Alternate Harley Quinn after she fails to defeat (Insurgency) Lex Luthor.

This'll be a blast!

A former psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane, Dr. Harleen Quinzel was assigned to perhaps their most dangerous patient, the Joker. During their sessions together, the Joker manipulated her fragile mind and seduced her over to his side. Having fallen madly in love with the Clown Prince of Crime, she became the supervillain Harley Quinn and broke Joker out of the madhouse, becoming his partner-in-crime as well as his lover... at least, from her perspective.

    Lex Luthor

Alexander Joseph "Lex" Luthor

Species: Human

Voiced by: Mark Rolston (English)note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-LEX1_4536.PNG
Must I remind you of my superiority?

The corrupt C.E.O. of LexCorp Industries and one of the richest and most powerful men in Metropolis. He has a festering hatred of aliens and superpowered beings, but none more than Superman, whom he wages battle after battle to discredit and kill out of jealousy for people's admiration of the Man of Tomorrow. Utilizing his genius mind, he has invented many weapons and machines to bring himself on an equal playing field with superbeings, most notably his powerful Warsuit, a Powered Armor fueled by Kryptonite and equipped with many countermeasures to take down Superman.

  • Alliterative Name: Lex Luthor.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Superman. He gives the Joker a nuke in the first chapter and encourages the clown prince of crime to detonate it on Metropolis, seemingly only to spite the Man of Steel.
  • Badass Normal: Beneath that Powered Armor is a human no more physically imposing than your average businessman.
  • Bald of Evil: Especially noticeable since his head is exposed while wearing his Powered Armor.
  • Big Bad: Of many different characters S.T.A.R. Labs Missions arcs, including Superman's. He was also the mastermind of the scheme to obliterate Metropolis in the main universe.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: To his Insurgency self in his Classic Battle ending.
  • Deflector Shields: Can activate an all-encompassing energy shield that protects him from a single attack. He gets a beefed up version in some S.T.A.R. Labs missions that reflects damage back at an attacker.
  • Distant Reaction Shot: The explosion from his Supermove can be seen from space.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Before he was officially confirmed as playable, he made a blink-and-you'll miss it appearance in the first teaser trailer.
  • Energy Ball: His Supermove features a huge one, charged up via Kill Sat.
  • Energy Weapon: Can call one down from his Kill Sat as a special move.
  • Evil Counterpart: Like Deathstroke he's one to Batman, being a rich and intellectually brilliant Badass Normal who is typically Crazy-Prepared.
  • Evil Genius: Right up there with Batman as one of the smartest men alive. Unfortunately, he is also a megalomaniacal maniac with little empathy for other living beings.
  • Evil Only Has to Win Once: Invoked during a clash with Superman.
    Superman: You won't win, Lex!
Lex: I only have to once.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Lex gives a nuke to the Joker so that he can achieve this status. His gambit is for the Joker to blow up Metropolis so that Lex can swoop in, console the masses, and offer to rebuild the city from a crisis he engineered himself, usurping Superman's role as the hero.
  • Insufferable Genius: His quote upon entering the arena is "Must I remind you of my superiority?"
  • Jet Pack: His Powered Armor has flight rockets on his back, gloves, and boots.
  • Kill Sat: While he can zap his opponents with one as a special move, his Supermove gets an interesting variation. Lex has the beam target himself so he can concentrate its power into an Energy Ball to personally chuck it at his opponent, the explosion from which gets a Distant Reaction Shot.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Doing a Meter Burn while calling down his orbital laser will replace it with three missiles.
  • Mighty Glacier: He's slow, packs an higher-than-average punch, but mostly makes up for his slow speed with his attack's range.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: As a result of the character design and the technicalities in the game's graphics, Luthor bears an exceptionally striking resemblance to Bruce Willis.
  • Powered Armor: He wears a bulkier rendition of his trademark armor. His victory animation has him getting out of it and walking away in his bodysuit while talking business as usual on the phone.
  • Shock and Awe: He has a technological polearm that can shoot electrical blasts. He can also lay electric mine traps.
  • Static Stun Gun: His Supermove begins with an electrified palm strike that restrains his opponent long enough for his Energy Ball to charge up.
  • Underwear of Power: His primary costume features a rare mechanical version, the lower body toned grey instead of the dominant green.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: In his Ladder ending, he would be treated as The Cape by an entire planet thanks to impersonating their Lex, who was practically The Paragon.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: Has some kind of short-range Tractor Beam that draws opponents closer.

    Catwoman

Catwoman / Selina Kyle

Species: Human

Voiced by: Grey DeLisle (English)note

You run along now. I have business to attend to.

Selina Kyle is a renowned cat burglar from Gotham City with a unique relationship with Batman. Constantly toeing the line between hero and villain, Catwoman lives life on her own terms. If she wants something, then by god she'll get it one way or another, no matter what.

  • Adaptational Villainy: Catwoman in the main DC Universe has been an Anti-Hero at the worst for several years and is consistently depicted as an ally of the Bat Family, whereas this version joins the game's version of the Legion of Doom in a plan that pits her against the Justice League. Oddly enough, her Injustice universe counterpart comes off looking better, as whilst she did join the Regime, she did it to keep her Batman safe.
  • All Women Love Shoes: One of her mid-battle taunts is "I love your shoes."
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Her cat motif incorporates razor sharp claws on her fingers and a whip that resembles a cat's tail.
  • Badass Normal: Catwoman has no superpowers, but is a skilled martial artist who was deemed dangerous enough to be recruited into Luthor's Legion of Doom.
  • Brick Joke: She gives a diamond to her cat during her Battle Intro. Her victory cutscene has her retrieving it at her Gotham apartment.
  • Cat Girl: Or "Woman," as the case may be. She's of the "cat-themed suit" variety.
  • Dark Action Girl: Considering she is with the other villains fighting the Justice League. The ultimate objective of her S.T.A.R. Labs missions arc is also to steal the Batmobile and her role in other S.T.A.R. Labs missions tend to have her in a fairly antagonistic role.
  • Dating Catwoman: Her health boost card in the iOS game features her with Batman and is called "Scary Boyfriend".
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She's pretty disgusted by both the Joker and Harley, as shown in some of her Clash Quotes with them:
Catwoman (to Harley): Have you no self-respect?
Catwoman (to The Joker making a pass at her): Go to hell by yourself!
  • Groin Attack: One of her grabs has this. This example shows said grab on Zatanna, where Catwoman plants a bladed claw firmly in her crotch.
  • Leotard of Power: Her primary costume features a slight Underwear of Power variant.
  • Night-Vision Goggles: One of her S.T.A.R. Labs missions has her fight Nightwing in the dark using her night vision goggles, although her character model doesn't actually show her wearing them.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: She has a black-furred cat, Isis, who helps her during her heists.
  • Not What I Signed on For: Implied. Catwoman is as surprised as the heroes when an alarm goes off in the Watchtower after her defeat, indicating she wasn't in on Luthor's true plan of distracting the Justice League while the Joker nukes Metropolis.
  • Pungeon Master: Her dialogue has at least a few cat puns, including the obligatory "Purrrfect".
  • Refuge in Audacity: Her ultimate objective in her S.T.A.R. Labs Missions Arc is to steal the Batmobile.
  • Spy Catsuit: She wears a form-fitting catsuit to give her maximum mobility during her missions.
  • Two First Names: "Kyle" is more commonly utilized as a first name.
  • Wolverine Claws: She has metallic cat claws attached to each finger of her gloves.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Her special ends with her doing a Frankensteiner on opponents.

    Solomon Grundy

Solomon Grundy / Cyrus Gold

Species: Zombie

Can't stop Grundy!

Notorious mobster Cyrus Gold was betrayed and murdered by his own men, his body being disposed of in Slaughter Swamp. However, the mystical energies of the swamp reanimated his body, mutated into a musclebound monster, though unable to remember anything about himself except that he was "born on a Monday". Naming himself after the nursery rhyme "Solomon Grundy", he has tussled with the heroes of the DC Universe many times with his incredible strength and inability to die for good, always returning from the swamp where he spawned from.

  • Anti-Hero: As a reference to his portrayal in "The Terror Beyond", his S.T.A.R. Labs missions have him acting heroically, with him looking for Hawkgirl, training with Batman, saving Gotham from Black Adam, and fighting way more villains than heroes.
  • Book Ends: The titles for two of his S.T.A.R. Labs Missions pay homage to his namesake poem. The first of his regular missions is titled "Born on a Monday," while the last of his Red Son missions is "Buried on Sunday."
  • The Brute: Despite his lack of finesse, he's powerful enough to give the big leagues a hard time.
  • Chained by Fashion: His primary and Red Son costumes have broken shackles around his wrists.
  • Determinator: His "Born On A Monday" ability in the iOS game allows him to recover 25% of his health after being knocked out once per match in his Regime costume, "From The Grave" on another costume increases the health gain to 50%.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's not very smart and has rather broken speech, but he can mash you something fierce if he gets his hands on you.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In the Red Son Missions, an indoctrinated Grundy dies stopping a nuke from reaching Moscow.
  • Hulk Speak: Generally communicates in broken phrases with poor grammar, mixed with Third-Person Person. Several characters (mostly Green Arrow) mock this.
  • Human Pincushion: There are a lot of knives embedded in his back, some of which he pulls out for certain attacks. His Red Son costume adds sickles to the mix.
  • Kick Them While They Are Down: Not only does Grundy have several throws for downed opponents, but his victory animation involves grabbing his opponent by the head and hurling them off-screen.
  • Made of Iron: As a zombie, Grundy has a much higher tolerance to pain and can tank most injuries. During a clash with Green Arrow, Grundy outright states that "puny arrows no hurt".
  • Mighty Glacier: As powerful as Grundy is, he's somewhat on the slow side.
  • Mother Russia Makes You Strong: His Red Son costume, even though Grundy never appeared in the original story. In the actual S.T.A.R. Labs Missions based on the miniseries, he is a capitalist creation indoctrinated by Superman.
  • The Nicknamer: Superman is either "Cape Man" or "Blue Man," Green Arrow is "Arrow Man," Hawkgirl is "Birdnose," etc.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: The brutish Cyrus Gold was killed and dumped in Slaughter Swamp in the 19th century, only for the mystical swamp to resurrect him as a super-strong, amnesiac zombie some time later.
  • Punctuated Pounding: Grundy can recite his namesake poem, throwing and slamming his opponent after each verse.
  • Rasputinian Death: The plethora of knives in his back, plus the noose around his neck, indicate that his original death was this.
  • Rise from Your Grave: Of a sort with his Battle Intro. He crawls his way out from a swampy patch in the ground, and given that he died and revived in a swamp...
  • Super-Strength: It's unclear whether it's a side effect of being a zombie or if the original Cyrus Gold was already this strong.
  • That Man Is Dead
    Hawkgirl: That's enough, Gold!
    Grundy: My name Solomon Grundy!
  • Third-Person Person: How he speaks, mixed with a good bit of Hulk Speak.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Nothing will knock Grundy down between the activation and contact of his Supermove.
  • Vocal Evolution: His voice is much louder than in Arkham City, instead sounding more like Fred Tatasciore's most well-known role, the Hulk.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: He can perform a straightjacket-inverted Tombstone piledriver.

You're easy money. I love my job.

Slade Wilson was an accomplished soldier in the American military who volunteered for a procedure that ended up increasing his strength and agility and gave him a potent healing factor. Dishonorably discharged and still thirsty for the thrill of combat, Slade became a famous mercenary and contract killer known as Deathstroke the Terminator, which ended up putting him in opposition to the Teen Titans and destroying his family, his wife even shooting out his eye when his son was gravely injured during a job of his.

Now I break your back!

Born into a life's sentence in the prison of Pena Dura, the youth known only as Bane survived by becoming the big dog in prison with his great strength, skills, and mind. Observing this, the owners of the prison picked him out for testing a dangerous new steroid named Venom. Venom boosted Bane's already impressive strength by tenfold, but at the cost of some intelligence and becoming gravely addicted to the substance. Haunted by nightmares of a batlike creature, he heard of the legend of the Batman and escaped to Gotham City to test his skill against the Caped Crusader, successfully outsmarting and breaking the Bat. Even after his recovery, Bane remains one of Batman's greatest and most dangerous foes.

  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Black Adam and Sinestro in his Classic Battle ending... until Bane's next phase.
  • The Brute: He's not only beaten Batman before, but his Venom serum makes him a match for other heroes as well.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: In his Classic Battle ending, he turns on Superman and takes control of the world with the help of Sinestro and Black Adam, intending to turn on them later.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: He's a non-meta human, but thanks to his Venom...
  • The Faceless: We never see him without his mask on.
  • Genius Bruiser: Bane's not only strong, but he's also very intelligent. His Classic Battle ending condescendingly refers to Black Adam and Sinestro as "lack(ing) intelligence."
  • Gratuitous Spanish: If he's going to say more than a single line, he's likely to start with something in Spanish.
  • Hoist Hero over Head: Of course, he has this as part of his Supermove. He also does this during his throws, but he doesn't slam his opponent on his knee there unless you hit the Meter Burn button.
  • Launcher Move: Bane does a two hit air juggle during his Supermove.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: Luchador-style at that.
  • Metronomic Man Mashing: Has a few single mashes in his moveset, with his Supermove featuring a particularly nasty one.
  • The Quiet One: He's much less talkative than many of the other characters, only speaking during clashes.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His primary costume's mask has large red eyes.
  • Screaming Warrior: He tends to yell a lot.
  • The Starscream: To Regime!Superman in his Classic Battle ending.
  • Super Serum: He's beefed up with his Venom serum and can boost himself even more mid-fight.
  • Super-Strength: Thanks to being souped up on Venom.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: His moveset is very wrestling-inspired.

    Black Adam

This will always be a world of dictators!

The ancient former champion of the wizard Shazam, Black Adam abused his power and subjugated his homeland of Kahndaq. Banished to the farthest star in the universe, Adam would return to exact his revenge upon the wizard's new champion, becoming the Arch-Enemy to him and the rest of the Marvel Family.

  • And This Is for...: One of his clash quotes is "For Kahndaq!", referencing his homeland.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Shazam. The two clash during the game's first chapter, and Shazam's S.T.A.R. Labs missions revolve around him trying to locate and defeat Black Adam.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He claims that his tyrannical method of ruling Kahndaq influenced the way Regime Superman runs things.
  • Badass Arm-Fold: His primary stance and his promotional render show him floating in the air with crossed arms, emphasizing his status as an overconfident tyrant.
  • Beware the Superman: Black Adam was elected as a champion of magic, but abused his powers and became the tyrannical ruler of Kahndaq.
  • Chest Insignia: Like Shazam, a lightning bolt.
  • Color Character: Black Adam.
  • Dark Is Evil: His uniform is a black version of Shazam's and he is that hero's Evil Counterpart.
  • Evil Counterpart: He has the exact same powers as Shazam and a similar appearance, but is an unscrupulous Anti-Villain.
  • Fallen Hero: He used to be the original wielder of the Power of Shazam, but lost his way.
  • Flight: Like many other characters with this power, he floats as his default stance.
  • Genius Bruiser: He has the Swiftness of Heru, the Strength of Amon and The Wisdom Of Zheuti.
  • It's Raining Men: His Battle Intro involves dropping into the arena from space in a bolt of lightning.
  • Kick Them While They Are Down:
    • His Supermove has him stomp on his opponent's back after throwing him/her to the ground to be fried by "SHAZAM!" lightning.
    • His victory cutscene has him stepping on his fallen opponent, taunting him/her, and channeling lightning though his body into him/her for good measure.
  • Lightning Can Do Anything: He gains his superpowers or reverts to his regular form after being struck by the "Shazam!" lightning.
  • Perma-Stubble: Black Adam is one of the game's Flying Bricks, but contrasts the clean shaven Superman and Shazam by having visible beard lines, which give him a rougher appearance and highlight that he is not one of the good guys.
  • Personal Raincloud: Played with. He creates a personal storm cloud after clearing out his opponent's first health bar, but while he is a stoic and often moody individual, it's presented more for intimidation factor than to emphasize that fact.
  • Pet the Dog: He saves Earth from raining meteors in the S.T.A.R. Labs mission "Splat."
  • Pointy Ears: Averted. Unlike most depictions of him, he lacks this inexplicable trait and instead has normal ears.
  • Power Echoes: His voice echoes in his introduction.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Older than that in fact. He was a pharaoh in Ancient Egypt.
  • Shock and Awe: He can shoot lightning out of his hands and create small balls of electricity that explode upon contact with the opponent.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: Towards Shazam.
    Shazam: You've abused your power!
    Black Adam: Silence, boy!
  • The Stoic: He tends to be a very grim and brooding fellow, with little to no sense of humor.
  • Super-Strength: He's got the strength of Amon, making him as powerful as Shazam.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: In his Classic Battle ending, Black Adam peacefully rules Kahndaq with Iris after severing ties with the rest of the world; by wiping out everything else.
  • Villainous Widow's Peak: For his primary costume.
Shazam: Wow, even your hair is evil!
  • Yellow Lightning, Blue Lightning: His gameplay features him using yellow lightning, though he uses blue lightning in story cutscenes.

Just breaking the ice.

Caught up in a freak accident, Louise Lincoln developed power over ice and snow, and developed an icy-cold personality to match, often tussling with the superhero Firestorm.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Her skin has a purplish tint to it.
  • An Ice Person: As her name implies, she can control ice and freeze people at will.
  • Badass Cape: Her primary outfit plays with this. She doesn't have a proper cape, but her sleeves have large tattered tassels that resemble small capes.
  • Cool Chair: She creates a throne of ice to sit on for her victory cutscene.
  • Cool Sword: Like Sub-Zero of Mortal Kombat fame, she can create swords made of ice for melee attacks.
  • Delinquent Hair: She has a single blue bang.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Her ending has Killer Frost calling herself the Ice Queen and freezing the Western Hemisphere.
  • Harmless Freezing: Her character trait and Flash Freeze attack freeze the opponent solid, but they can resume fighting normally after thawing.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: She can raise a large icicle from the ground to do this. Her Supermove opens up with a multiple-spiked version that impales her opponent through not only the torso, but a few limbs as well.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Seems to be going down this route in her Classic Battle ending. She freezes the entire Western Hemisphere!
  • Out of Focus: Out of all the playable characters, she is given the least ammount of attention by the game. The main universe's Killer Frost never even shows up during the story mode!
  • Purple Is Powerful: Her skin is a very light purple and indicates her powerful cryokinetic abilities.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Her entire Supermove is based around a multitude of very pointy icicles.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: In terms of abilities, appearance, and even name, she's remarkably similar to the minor Mortal Kombat character Frost, even though Killer Frost came first. Particularly notable when one remembers that both this game and Mortal Kombat were made by NetherRealm Studios.
  • The Walls Are Closing In: Invoked in her Supermove, creating spiked walls to slam into her stunned opponent.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Her hair is primarily white with a single blue streak. But as her name implies, Killer Frost is a supervillainess who won't hesitate to murder her enemies.

Formerly one of the most respected members of the Green Lantern Corps, Thaal Sinestro became obsessed with power and subjugated his homeworld of Korugar. Banished by the Guardians of the Universe to the antimatter universe of Qward, his experiments into the Emotional Spectrum led him to discover the yellow light of fear, which he forged into his own yellow ring and power battery, forming the Sinestro Corps, interstellar warriors powered by fear.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: In the mainstream comics, he still has some respect over Hal Jordan and even considers him a friend in spite of everything they went through, but in here, he's utterly disrespectful, racist, and rude to Hal, whom he regretted having been friends with. But at least he's not as bad as his Injustice counterpart, who's a psychopathic jerk and takes this trope up a notch.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: An evil alien who leads an army of intergalactic criminals. His S.T.A.R. Labs Missions also see him trying to take over the Earth.
  • Aliens of London: He's got the accent, at least.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: His skin tone is a shade of light fuchsia.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Green Lantern.
Green Lantern: To think we were friends!
Sinestro: One of my few mistakes!
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: He's the leader of the Sinestro Corps.
  • Badass Normal: His ring grants him extraordinary powers, but even without it, he's at least able to press lift his own weight.
  • Bright Is Not Good: Wields the yellow light of fear and dresses in golden yellow. He's still a bad guy in spite of this.
  • Broken Pedestal: Was the one who who initially trained Hal Jordan as a Green Lantern, before his expulsion from the Green Lantern Corps.
  • Combat Tentacles: One of his constructs is a Doctor Octopus-esque set of arms from his back. Not only do they help grab his opponent, but he can launch the limbs as projectiles.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: He does so to the Life Entity in his Classic Battle ending to gain control of the White Lantern battery.
  • Deadly Hug: He can restraint his opponents with a constricting serpentine construct.
  • Dem Bones: Some heavier attacks use a large claw-like construct that looks both somewhat skeletal and also somewhat avian.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: He can drop boulder constructs onto his opponent. His Supermove uses actual dirt via large asteroids.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Green Lantern, especially since he himself used to be one. Emphasized in his similar ring-charging Battle Intro.
  • Fallen Hero: Before his fall from grace, Sinestro was considered one of the greatest to ever wield a Green Lantern Ring.
  • Familiar: He can summon a small orb-shaped construct to assist him in combat.
  • Fantastic Racism: Against humans, as one of his Clash dialogues with Green Lantern shows. Hal even calls him out on it.
    Sinestro: Human scum!
    Green Lantern: Evil and racist!
  • Flight: One of the powers of his Qwardian Power Ring. Like many flying characters, he has a hovering default poses.
  • Forehead of Doom
    Sinestro: You're done, Green Arrow!
    Green Arrow: Think again, forehead!
  • Hand Blast: One of his ranged attacks launches a series of small energy balls from his hands.
  • Knight Templar: He believes in maintaining order through fear and his Regime universe counterpart works with them because they have a world-view similar to his own.
  • Last-Name Basis: His full name is Thaal Sinestro, but most people refer to him by his surname.
  • Lean and Mean: He has a much slimmer physique than most other characters.
  • Light 'em Up: With the yellow light of fear, that is.
  • Lock-and-Load Montage: Like Green Lantern, he does his closest equivalent and charges his ring during his Battle Intro.
  • Pet the Dog: He saves Earth from bombarding asteroids in the S.T.A.R. Labs mission "Sinestro's Might," if only to keep it intact for his own conquest.
  • Ring of Power: His Qwardian Power Ring, which is based on the fear of others instead of the user's willpower.
  • Sore Loser: He angrily slams his fist during his defeated pose.
  • Spikes of Doom: He can cause spike constructs to rise up from the floor.
  • Spikes of Villainy: His secondary costume has four spikes jutting out of his upper chest.
  • Stock Punishment: In his victory cutscene, he imprisons his opponent in a hovering, upright variation with his ring.
  • Teleporters and Transporters: He constructs one during his Supermove to take his enemy to space.
  • Tractor Beam: Used in his Supermove to crush the opponent between a pair of gigantic asteroids.
  • Villainous Widow's Peak
    Green Lantern: Nice freakin' hair.
  • Villain Team-Up: Several Classic Battle endings have him teaming up with specific individuals.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Constructs one at the end of his Supermove to blasts his opponent back to Earth.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: For all of his villainy, megalomania, and fearmongering, Sinestro does often genuinely believe he's doing the right thing.
  • You Remind Me of X: He resents Green Arrow for his reminding him of Green Lantern.

Doomsday

Species: Genetically engineered Kryptonian

I will destroy you all!

A genetically-engineered abomination from Krypton's prehistoric past, the creature known as Doomsday knows nothing more than destruction and pain. Arriving on Earth, he decimated his way through many superheroes before killing Superman. (He got better.) Nigh-unstoppable and impossibly dangerous, Doomsday's biology can adapt to nearly any situation, and every time he is killed he will return immune to whatever killed him.

  • Adaptational Intelligence: More often than not, Doomsday is depicted as a mindless brute (sometimes literally, as in having no brain) who can comprehend nothing more than destruction. Here, he seems to be at least a bit more intelligent, and can even speak, something he's never been able to do outside of this game aside from Justice League Unlimited.
  • And the Adventure Continues: As his victory cutscene. He declares "I will destroy you all!" and is then shown looking over a burning city.
  • Arch-Enemy: One to Superman.
Doomsday: I live to kill you.
  • Barbarian Longhair: In a Braid of Barbarism.
  • Beard of Evil: The Spikes of Villainy on his chin are positioned in a beard-like pattern and enhance his menacing appearance.
  • The Brute: He's big, he fights alongside the other villains, and he can easily give Superman a hard time.
  • Digging to China: His supermove has him punch the opponent repeatedly through the ground straight through the Earth's core... ending up in an ocean. Then he does the same back again.
  • The Dreaded: Though it's unclear if Doomsday ever killed Superman in this continuity, Superman still very much fears him, since it was Doomsday and not Lois Lane that Superman saw when doused with Scarecrow's Kryptonite-laced fear gas.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's incredibly strong, able to wail on Superman, but is also almost completely mindless.
  • Evil Counterpart: He's like the anti-Superman. Both come from Krypton, products of scientists, and sent to Earth for a purpose. However he was sent underground to be a Sealed Evil in a Can, forced to fight and die to become an Ultimate Lifeform and is The Dreaded to Superman's Paragon. Their supermoves reflect their inverse relation, he punches a guy through the core and back while Superman punches a guy to the atmosphere and back.
  • Final Boss: Of the console game's demo.
  • Humanoid Abomination: He was created in a lab to be the perfect living weapon. It worked.
  • Irony: He was created to kill Superman in the comics, but in Injustice gameplay Superman is his worst match-up. Even Supes' trait counters Doomsday's.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Unlike the other big characters, Doomsday has the agility and speed of smaller characters.
  • Meteor Move: His Supermove involves him repeatedly punching his opponent through the earth's core and back in what is almost an inversion of Superman's Meteor Move.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Of all the days to be named after, his is not a pleasant one.
  • No-Sell: His special ability is to temporarily boost his defense and shrug off regular attacks.
  • Obviously Evil: Spikes of Villainy, Name To Flee From, Red Eyes, and Ax-Crazy personality are all obvious indicators of Doomsday's vicious nature.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Emphasized with his victory cutscene, which has him walking through the burning ruins of a city.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Done in his Supermove, where he punches his opponent through the Earth's core. Twice.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Doomsday's eyes are red and always seething with rage.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Coming out of his skin, no less.
  • Villain Team-Up: The main version of Doomsday is unleashed on Superman and the Justice League by Luthor.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: His hair is white to match the colour of his spike protusions, and he is a deranged killing machine.
