    Original post
As EMMM currently stands, it's Chairs. "Moai exist" isn't a trope, as Tropes Needing TRS justly points out. However, my Moai Check was an attempt to determine how people were actually using it, and the results were varied. For the 54 examples contained within 50 wicks, we have:
  • Moai-based character: 11/54, 20.4%
  • Moai statues exist: 6/54, 11.1%
  • ZCEs: 6/54, 11.1%
  • Sentient Moai: 5/54, 9.3%
  • Pothole for island itself: 5/54, 9.3%
  • Origin of Moai statues: 5/54, 9.3%
  • Moai as decorations: 4/54, 7.4%
  • Plot/game-relevant Moai statue: 4/54, 7.4%
  • Moai-shaped thing: 3/54, 5.5%
  • Other: 3/54, 5.5%
  • Moai-shaped architecture: 2/54, 3.7%

What to do with this? Well, for starters, I would make a UsefulNotes.Rapa Nui (with redirect UsefulNotes.Easter Island) page because wicking to a trope isn't the move for non-tropey location references. Beyond this, perhaps the trope can be repurposed into "characters that are Moai statues or based on them," since those together would comprise almost 30% of my examples.

Wick check:

This is a wick check for Eenie Meenie Miny Moai, which per Tropes Needing TRS is Chairs.

  1. Main.Hollywood Natives: LEGO: Since the 1980s, LEGO has released themed building sets, and one of the earliest was the "Pirates" series. In 1994 a new series was released as an expansion: "Islanders." Surely it would be fun to supplement the pirates' naval adventures on the high seas with adventures on the archipelagos between those seas, perhaps trading or fighting with the native inhabitants. Unfortunately the titular islanders were designed primarily around a blend of Maori and Caribbean stereotypes. The islanders wore grass skirts, face paint and masks. They carried spears, decorated with bones, and built architecture featuring large Moai-esque statues. Being LEGO of the time, there was little in the way of character or story, except that the islander's leader was named "King Quextil" or "King Kahuka." There are no 18th-century pirates around to object to a fantasy based on them, but real island-dwelling (Polynesian or Caribbean) people might be uneasy about their image being remixed or caricatured this way. Something like "Islanders" probably would not be repeated by the more-cosmopolitan LEGO of today. Moai decorations

Opened. A useful note would be a good idea, though I wonder if the rest can be saved.

I like the idea of UsefulNotes.Rapa Nui, which can also mention the film of the same name.

Question, can Useful Notes pages get a Referenced by... page? Because if so, I think that could be a solution for dealing with the "thing inspired by Moai" wicks

[up]No, but we could still list usage in fiction on the main page.

Anyway, move to Useful Notes. I also tagged the page.

There's definitely room for a trope about Moai-like characters and statues, at least.

[up]Maybe we could split off the "Moai-based character" and "Sentient Moai" categories into a new trope, then (I don't see the need to have them separate from each other because Tropes Are Flexible means it shouldn't make much of a difference in whether the characters are sentient Moai or Moai-based in some other way).

Move to Useful Notes, but not sure what tropability is there aside Living Statue.

[up]Yeah, with a Useful Notes move that lists the appearance of Moai in media at the bottom and examples of actual Moai coming to life as Living Statue, I think all of the bases are covered

Some of the examples are allusions to the design of Moais in fantastical worlds where Easter Island doesn't even exist, like Nosepass in Pokémon. I feel like that may be tropeworthy, similar to how T. Rexpy is a trope and Tyrannosaurus rex is a useful note.

Let's just move to Useful Notes without doing any splits, per what was said about Living Statue.

I had an idea for splitting this into two different potential tropes:

  • Mighty Moai, moai as things that can walk around and/or fire weapons (which is similar in concept to Weaponized Landmark, though that in this context would limit itself to depictions of Easter Island itself)
  • Easter Moailand, a place full of moai figures (which may vary in appearance) for whatever reason ("I like Easter Island.")

[up]That would be a great idea!

There can be UsefulNotes.Rapa Nui, Mighty Moai, and Easter Moailand with Eenie Meenie Miny Moai being a disambig page.

[up][up]We can't do those splits unless there are already enough examples to do it, and since it doesn't seem like there are enough, we'll have to skip those in favor of sending them to the Trope Idea Salvage Yard (which is a free action, so you can add them now instead of waiting for the thread) and focus on proposals that can already be done using the page's current wicks (which is mainly moving to Useful Notes).

[up] On the contrary, I would say only a small subset of the wicks would get moved to UN (unless you're gathering instances of media that feature Moai statues). There's a chunk that'd get moved to Alternate Landmark History ("Origin of Moai statues" wick check section) and Living Statue ("Sentient Moai" section).

[up]I never said otherwise, and I've dealt with enough Useful Notes moves to know how to deal with wicks for those projects (plus, the fact that I'm part of the staff should have indicated that I already knew better than to namespace every single wick, and even well before then I've removed cases of Useful Notes being misused as tropes in example lists).

I was referring to how moving to Useful Notes is probably going to be what we'll end up doing, and that the splits that were suggested aren't possible because there aren't enough examples to do them without starting with scratch.

I wasn't intending to undermine your authority or knowledge, Gaston. Admittedly, this is my first time dealing with a UN move, so I should be taking a backseat (and also because it's not my project anymore now that it's entered TRS). I was honestly just anxious about the wicks for Alternate Landmark History getting swept aside, as the examples fitting there are textbook, and also that the language of "move" worried me because I didn't think there was much salvageable from EMMM's page. My apologies.

For what it's worth, I was already thinking of calling the Useful Notes page UsefulNotes.Moai or UsefulNotes.Rapa Nui (the name we go with depending on the page's scope) and turning Main.Eenie Meenie Miny Moai into a disambiguation page between that page, Alternate Landmark History, and Living Statue.

Edit: Landmark of Lore being another thing for the disambiguation page, since it's mentioned on UsefulNotes.Chile (which in turn doesn't appear to have much text about the island, so I don't know if there's much we can borrow from that page).

The disambiguation page's contents wouldn't be set in stone. We're just discussing what to put on it when it's first made so it has more than one page listed from the beginning.

Concerns have been raised that Eenie Meenie Miny Moai is not a trope, and simply involves any instance of a Moai. What should be done? Options are not mutually exclusive.
