Original post:

Both Blinding Bangs and Peek A Bangs have been used for any character with eye obscuring bangs. There's personality traits lists for both tropes but those rarely come into consideration in the wicks.

My solution is to disambig both tropes (Hide Your Otherness, Eyes Out of Sight, Meaningful Appearance) and split or yard new tropes based on the personality listed in the descriptions for both tropes. I didn't find many wicks for bangs that indicate shyness/aloofness, deceptiveness, or sensuality but more of those examples can be sifted out of the on page examples (I'll sort them out later).

Wick check for Blinding Bangs.

Blinding Bangs is effectively a duplicate of Eyes Out of Sight, so it can be merged instead of disambiguated.

Peek A Bangs to me looks like enough of a trope but it'd be difficult to explain, especially since it lists multiple types at once, but it can be summarized as a sign of an antisocial behavior. Not confident I can re-write the description (yard?), so if everything fails I guess the best examples can be moved to Meaningful Appearance.

Eyes Out of Sight was a new trope that was made while I was waiting to TLP these tropes. I was unsure about taking Blinding Bangs to the TRS because I think a character's who's eyes are always obscured by their is an actual trope but not that we have broader trope for that to go into I see no reason to keep Blinding Bangs the way it is now. I am fine with merging.

I don't know if Peek A Bangs can be summed in one trope. We can probably meld shyness, aloofness, and deceptiveness together but sensuality or seductiveness is another thing entirely.

I'm fine with the merge.

But for Peek A Bangs there's enough significance behind the bangs obscuring one eye that I think we should lose it as a trope. Let's send it back to TLP to hunt for examples with context. Maybe split the sensual and deceptive types from the aloof type too?

Well, regardless, it can't have the same name because it's focused the style itself and there are a lot of characters with the style just because. The trope was clearly based around the hairstyle. The personality traits seem secondary.

Hiding Behind The Bangs for shy/vulnerable/secretive (not necessarily deceptive/sly)?

I'd rather just cut. Both have ridiculously high ZCEs rates (80% of the wick check for Blinding Bangs) and they're appearance tropes, which attract misuse like the plague. We have precedence for "cut and forgot" with appearance tropes, too.

[up]I agree, except I'd rather go with disambiguating instead of doing a full-fledged cut.

People probably think Peek A Bangs has more tropable concepts than Blinding Bangs which is already covered by another trope (Eyes Out of Sight). The description already says that new concepts can be yarded though and we can move example with context from Peek A Bangs to Meaningful Appearance. It doesn't make any sense to leave Peek A Bangs alone and a rename won't be enough because the "trope" is the hairstyle.

I think people confuse Meaningful Appearance with Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance or incorrectly think it's an index, and don't want the trope to be disambiguated with it.

tbf Blinding Bangs is not 100% about personal appearance, but I think it can be redirected to Eyes Out of Sight if it already covers everything relevant.

Peek A Bangs has at least two Internal Subtropes, meaning people are likely unwilling to touch it if these aren't yarded/TLP'ed, like, right away, which isn't how TRS typically works.

(Waited an extra day to call the crowner to see if the votes stabilized) Calling crowner in favor of disambiguating Blinding Bangs. Peek A Bangs will not be disambiguated because there wasn't enough consensus (1.63) to do so.

Since we aren't disambiguating Peek A Bangs, I guess we can just remove the TRS banner and focus on Blinding Bangs then?

Yeah, that sounds good, so I removed the TRS banner from Peek A Bangs since we're narrowing this thread's scope to Blinding Bangs.

As a side note, I starred the thread since there's nothing left to do other than disambiguate Blinding Bangs (if that hasn't been done already) and dewick it.

Double posting because I disambiguated Blinding Bangs, posted a notice on the discussion page, de-indexed it (aside from Ambiguity Index), and cut the subpages.

1322 wicks to go through.

Edit from the following day: I added a to-do list to the opening post.

[up]...Were people misusing this trope to refer to hats instead of hair? I'd expect something like that with a Missing Supertrope or Missing Related Trope case, but in this case the related trope (well, related before we got rid of the hair trope) actually exists.
