    Beerus VS Sailor Galaxia

Lord Beerus

Beerus: "Well, I'm happy to see you're finally realizing the full terror of Beerus the Destroyer."
Voiced by: River Kanoff

Dragon Ball's Almighty God of Destruction

  • Always Someone Better: Beerus is many times stronger than most anyone in the Dragon Ball universe. The preview shows him effortlessly dodging Tien (one of Earth's strongest humans), Android 18 (a cybernetically-enhanced human) and Piccolo (a Namekian fused with two others of his race) as well as catching a chop from Zamasu (a Supreme Kai-in-training) and ultimately destroying him. This ended up applying to his opponent as well: for as powerful as Galaxia is (capable of matching someone who could destroy entire universes), highballing her as much as possible would still not be enough to let her match Beerus' performance on his worst days, as even while holding back he is still far more powerful than she could conceive.
  • Berserk Button: One of the easiest ways to piss off Beerus is to deny him his food, and another is to disrespect him. Sailor Galaxia pulls both off in the span of a few seconds, by first blowing up Earth along with his ice cream, and then poking him in the eye when he goes to confront her.
  • Bond One-Liner: Beerus delivers one after killing Galaxia:
  • Breaking the Bonds: When Galaxia ties him up with the Galactica Super String, he gets slung around by it for a while, but soon manages to break out from it.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: One of the most skilled and powerful beings in the Dragon Ball universe who could easily kill almost anyone he wants with just a wave of his hand. That is, when he can be made to get off his ass and do so. His introduction in the fight is just him relaxing on the beach and eating ice cream while Galaxia blows up the planet.
  • Cat Folk: He resembles a humanoid hairless cat — namely the Cornish Rex and Sphynx breeds — and takes cues from the Egyptian goddess Bastet, who had the head of a cat on a regalia-clad human body.
  • Cats Are Lazy: Wiz states that Beerus is the apotheosis of catdom laziness, noting that when he's not effortlessly annihilating solar systems, he's napping for decades.
  • Cats Are Mean: The hosts make special note of this when describing Beerus, and it fits, though their point is less that they're mean and more that they aren't completely domesticated, making them less dependent than dogs, but also more asocial.
  • Destroyer Deity: Beerus' position in the cosmic hierarchy is as Universe 7's God of Destruction, destroying ancient planets and civilizations to make way for the new... if he can be bothered with it.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Beerus is not evil and a Punch-Clock Villain at worst, though his mercurial temperament has caused him to annihilate entire planets for relatively minor slights. When he crash lands on an inhabited planet, Beerus vaporizes it out of annoyance whereas Galaxia enslaves the populace of the planet she crash lands on.
  • Hurl It into the Sun: He gets thrown into the sun midway through the fight. Being a Physical God, it barely fazes him.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Due to a combination of amusement, overwhelming power, and sheer laziness, Beerus rarely, if ever, uses his full strength in battle. Even when fighting Goku in a battle that nearly destroyed the universe, he wasn’t even close to using his full power, and it was stated that Goku boosted by Super Saiyan Blue and given a times 10 boost by Kaio-ken still wasn’t enough to match him. This is a major factor in the fight, since Galaxia at her best and given the benefit of the doubt was barely comparable to Beerus at the absolute minimum.
  • I Am the Noun: His Pre-Mortem One-Liner right before destroying Galaxia.
  • Immune to Mind Control: In a sense. God ki has been shown to be capable of resisting life-draining abilities, so when Galaxia tries to control him by taking his star seed, he just glares at her and grabs it back with little apparent effort.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Compared to his opponent, Beerus is literally just doing his job — at least, when he can be bothered — while Galaxia is an outright murderous tyrant. Most days, he's actually very affable, if very lazy, loves to eat, and spared Earth despite being due to destroy it, thanks to both its delicious food and out of gratitude for his enjoyable battles with Goku and Vegeta.
  • Lost Food Grievance: Beerus is a gourmet; he loves to eat, and tends to fly into planet-destroying rage if someone interrupts his meals. Beerus goes after Sailor Galaxia when she blows up the Earth... along with his ice cream cone just as he was about to enjoy it. His Bond One-Liner outright shows that his motive for the battle was to avenge his lost ice cream.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Compared to Goku, he's a lot thinner, but Beerus is just as powerful as you'd expect a Destroyer Deity to be. Just ask Galaxia.
  • No-Sell: One of the main factors in his victory is that he can easily shrug off, work around, or is outright immune to all of Galaxia's strongest abilities.
  • One-Hit Kill: His "Hakai" technique, which channels his destruction energy to obliterate anything in an instant, erasing both body and soul from existence. It can be resisted if the target can match the user in power, such as Galaxia.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Beerus is the second-strongest being in Universe 7 and holds the position of God of Destruction for it. His first appearance shows he's capable of destroying half a planet by casually tapping the top of a table he's sitting at. He's also far superior to Galaxia in this regard, as not only is he powerful enough to destroy his own universe (which Galaxia is similarly capable of), but not only is his universe much, much larger than Galaxia's, that's not even the scope of his full power.
  • Powers Do the Fighting: Or rather, dodging. While he hasn't fully mastered it yet, Beerus possesses Ultra Instinct — which lets his body instinctively react to an opponent's attacks independent of conscious thought — as shown off when he fought the other Gods of Destruction in a battle royale. As the battle between himself and Galaxia intensifies, he begins using it to evade her attacks and mocks her for not possessing the "instinct" needed to fight him.
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: When Galaxia gives Beerus an Eye Poke that launches him backward:
Beerus: [casually] So you have chosen death.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Beerus gives one just before blasting Galaxia and killing her:
Beerus: Now you're catching on. I AM THE IMPOSSIBLE!
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Beerus is heavily prone to mood-swings, and destroying planets for the slightest provocation. In this case, he attacks and kills Sailor Galaxia for destroying his ice-cream along with the planet, and when she snares him at one point, he shouts "No fair!" very petulantly. That said, he's a lot less Ax-Crazy than Galaxia, so he's the more sympathetic combatant.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: He's very, very lazy about it, but it's mentioned in his analysis that destroying planets and ancient civilizations is literally his job; he's normally at least somewhat affable, and loves to eat when he's not spending large amounts of time sleeping.
  • Purple Is Powerful. Beerus' skin is purple, befitting an almighty God of Destruction; the ki used in his Hakai, considered his most devastating attack, is also purple. He ultimately proves more powerful than Galaxia.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Or rather, Rapid Fire Fingerpoke, between him and Galaxia.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue compared to Sailor Galaxia's Red. Beerus' tone is far calmer compared to the very unhinged Galaxia.
  • Skewed Priorities: One of the reasons Beerus confronted Galaxia in the first place; Vaporising his ice cream when she destroyed Earth. Justified as he wouldn't bat an eye to planets being destroyed due to that being his job to do so, even Earth, but he cares about trying delicacies from planets he visits.
  • Strong and Skilled: Can effortlessly destroy planets and has millions of years of martial arts training under his attendant Whis. This plays a role in his victory as not only does he have way more experience in combat, but he is many, many times stronger than Galaxia.
  • Super-Reflexes: Although not fully mastered, his Ultra Instinct allows him to instinctively react to an opponent's attacks without needing conscious thought. This gave him an advantage against Galaxia, whose attacks had 1.5x the speed of his.
  • Super-Speed: He's fast enough to fly between galaxies by himself and just a couple of minutes, making him far faster than light.
  • Super-Toughness: Bordering on Nigh-Invulnerable. As a Physical God surpassing every other god in Universe 7, it takes a lot to actually hurt him. During the battle, he gets thrown into a sun and tanks many of Galaxia's blows and shrugs them all off. In the post-battle analysis, it's noted that since the universe spanning shockwaves caused by Goku and Beerus were the result of a physical clash, he'd have to be enduring the full force of those shockwaves.
  • Tranquil Fury: At least half of his dialogue in the fight animation reeks of this.
    Beerus: Don't you dare.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He calls out Galaxia for destroying his ice-cream. When she attacks him after that, he returns fire.
  • Worthy Opponent: The quick audio snippet from him when his episode was announced has him regard his then-unknown opponent as a "worthy foe". With the reveal of Sailor Galaxia — a fellow destroyer deity who shares Beerus' massive power and penchant for reducing everything to nothingness — it seems that he has good reason for commenting that way. During the fight itself, he even comments on this when his Hakai fails to erase her.
Beerus: Interesting. Apparently, I've found a worthy foe.

Sailor Galaxia

Sailor Galaxia: "For this fight belongs to Sailor Galaxia, the most powerful Guardian in the galaxy!"
Voiced by: Blythe Renay

The Sailor Scout of Destruction from Sailor Moon

  • Adaptational Heroism: It's noted that Galaxia in the manga was a villain of her own volition, as opposed to the anime's depiction as a Fallen Heroine who was subject to Demonic Possession.
  • Always Someone Better: On both ends. In canon, Sailor Galaxia was much stronger in raw power, easily murdering the entire gathering of Sailor Guardians and was only defeated by Sailor Moon showing her kindness. Against Beerus, while her skills are quite formidable, she is heavily outgunned by the God of Destruction.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Beerus' killing ki blast blows Sailor Galaxia's arms off, before ripping the rest of her apart and sending the rest of her remains into a black hole.
  • Ax-Crazy: Comes off just as murderously insane here as she does in her own series; complete with destroying most of the Solar System with a gleeful grin, and venomously taunting Beerus throughout as she tries to kill and eventually possess him.
  • Badass Boast: She gives one to Beerus at the start of the fight after laughing off his warning. Unfortunately for her, she couldn't back it up in the end.
Sailor Galaxia: Witness my infinite power!
  • Composite Character: Averted. As the Sailor Moon anime altered Galaxia's backstory too much, it was mostly left aside to focus on her source material in the original manga.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Galaxia grew up on a Crapsack World where she was just another nobody whose life sucked enough that she wished for it to just be over. When her Sailor powers finally awakened, she became obsessed with obtaining a place "worthy" of someone with her powers.
  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: She really shouldn't have destroyed Beerus' ice-cream and tried poking his eyes.
  • The Dreaded: As befits a Galactic Conqueror on a universal scale, Galaxia terrifies everyone she encounters. Boomstick brings up that she was so feared, that planets would sacrifice their own Sailor Scouts as offerings to her.
  • Evil Is Petty: After she and Beerus get thrown onto different planets, her reaction is to steal the Starseeds of the locals to take control of and make them kneel to her before resuming the fight.
  • Evil Laugh: Prone to bouts of vile cackling throughout the fight. In particular, she strikes a Noblewoman's Laugh pose when shrugging off Beerus's warning not to destroy a god's ice-cream.
  • Eye Poke: As a demonstration of her almighty power in the preview, she jabs Beerus in the eyes with her fingers and then blows them off like they're smoking guns.
  • Final Boss: Referred to by Wiz as Sailor Moon's greatest foe; and going by her sheer might, it isn't hard to see why.
  • First Injury Reaction: Much like in canon, she reacts to actually being hurt for the first time onscreen with Disproportionate Retribution. Galaxia starts her fight with Beerus haughtily using only a Finger Poke of Doom, which he meets in kind. They escalate this up to the degree of a finger-poke Pummel Duel until they strike each other's fingertips so hard their whole arms feel it (complete with a cosmic-level Sickening "Crunch!"). She protests this as "Ridiculous!" and immediately tries to One-Hit Kill Beerus.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: She went from a nobody on a random Crapsack World to a Galactic Conqueror with the effective power of a goddess.
  • Galactic Conqueror: She wants to rule the universe because her ego as the most powerful being in it demands she should.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: She wears a pure golden uniform. Boomstick explicitly calls her a "golden ballerina". That said, her "superiority" doesn't apply to Beerus.
  • Hero Killer: Galaxia is noted for actually murdering virtually every Sailor Guardian except for Sailor Moon.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: After being blown apart by Beerus, Galaxia is finished off by being sucked into the black hole she not only herself created from blowing up the Sun, but only a few moments earlier tried to force Beerus into.
  • Hurl It into the Sun: She does this to Beerus, but it has no effect on him.
  • Insignificant Little Blue Planet: Sailor Galaxia begins the fight by blowing up the Earth... and ends up getting Beerus's undivided attention by also destroying his ice cream cone when he was just about to enjoy it.
  • Kneel Before Zod: Her goal for the entire universe. She also does this to the inhabitants of a planet she lands on midway through her fight.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: Very shortly after her arms are torn off by Beerus' beam, the rest of her body explodes into pieces. They don't last that long, though, since they promptly end up sucked into a black hole.
  • Mugging the Monster: Destroying a God of Destruction's ice-cream, then attacking and trying to possess him — all while being very disrespectful to him — proves to be a deadly mistake in Galaxia's case.
  • Never My Fault: After her battle with Beerus ends up destroying a sun, she furiously screams, "This is YOUR fault, you stupid cat!" While technically true, it only got to that point because she instigated the fight.
  • No-Sell: When Beerus attempts to Hakai her at the same time she attempts to annihilate him, she shrugs it off and is shocked that he's able to do the same.
  • Not Enough to Bury: Even though it takes a lot to do, this is how she dies. Sailor Galaxia ends up first having her arms blown off by Beerus's final ki blast; which then tears apart the rest of her body when she can no longer block it. Finally, her remains are drawn into the black hole she reduced the Sun to earlier.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Galaxia's goal is to conquer the universe and destroy everything she dismisses as trash.
  • One-Hit Kill: Much like her opponent, she could literally destroy anything she wanted with her powers alone. That said, Beerus could resist it, much in the same way she could avoid being instantly killed by his Hakai.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Galaxia is the most powerful of the Sailor Senshi, note  and is known as the Sailor/Soldier of Destruction. Case in point, her first move in the fight is to blow up the earth. The hosts note that Sailor Moon, who is comparable in power to her, destroyed a mirror universe the same size as her home one in her canon, and further judge that she has enough power to destroy her universe several times over.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Or Rapid Fire Fingerpoke between her and Beerus to be exact.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She has red eyes, and she's the most dangerous enemy of the Sailor Guardians. That said, the golden-eyed Beerus is stronger than her.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red compared to Beerus' Blue. She's far more unhinged than Beerus, relishing the destruction she's causing throughout the fight, and taunting the God of Destruction venomously as she tries to kill — and eventually possess — him.
  • Super-Speed:
    • According to Princess Kakyuu's testimonies of her travels across the universe, Galaxia's flight speed is trillions of times faster than light.
    • It also applies to her attacks as well as Galaxia herself. She can fire off magic beams that can cross galaxies and Sailor Moon, whom she scales to, can fire off attacks that can reach the edge of the universe in four seconds. While she has greater attack speed than Beerus, his usage of Ultra Instinct helps make up for the difference.
  • This Cannot Be!: Her reaction when her Star Seed extraction fails to control Beerus is of complete shock.
    Sailor Galaxia: What!? That's impossible!
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Has no formal combat training but can effortlessly destroy planets and has an unlimited amount of destructive energy. Unfortunately for her, Beerus is far stronger than her and has millions of years of martial arts training and experience.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Obtaining the Sapphire Crystal gave Galaxia possibly unlimited potential and power, and with it the ego and vanity to conquer the rest of the universe to satisfy her.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Sailor Galaxia has the capability to extract her opponent's Star Seed (basically the equivalent of a soul), which allows her to gain control over them. She successfully uses it against two random planet inhabitants, but when she tries it against Beerus, he maintains control and grabs his own Star Seed back.

    Zuko VS Shoto Todoroki
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: Both are born to households of high prestige but have incredibly dysfunctional families where they have a tyrranical and dickish father that they don't get along with, a Missing Mom, and an evil sibling that wants to kill them.
  • Playing with Fire: Both are capable of creating and casting out flames.
  • Scars Are Forever: Both have prominent burn scars surrounding their left eyes that were given to them by one of their parents.
  • Super Breeding Program: Shoto was the product of Endeavor's efforts to produce a child with Fire and Ice quirks, with both of their strengths canceling out each of their weaknesses. While it's not mentioned in the video, Zuko (and his sister Azula) was the result of Firelord Azulon's efforts to unite his bloodline with that of Avatar Roku (Zuko's mother Ursa was Roku's granddaughter) and create a generation of exceptionally skilled firebenders.

Prince Zuko

Zuko: "Hello, Zuko here!"
Voiced by: Dante Basco

The Firebending Hunter of the Avatar, the Last Airbender

  • Ambidextrous Sprite: Averted in the sprite animation (except for one small segment of the fight). His scar doesn't swap to the other side of his face when he faces the other direction.
  • Breath Weapon: When Todoroki freezes all four of his limbs in place, Zuko blows fire out of his mouth at him.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak:
    • He's the third Avatar character following Toph and Aang. He's also the fourth in-house Nickelodeon character, following Danny Phantom earlier this season. His loss ended the winning streak for both sides.
    • There have been previous times a western animation character and and anime/manga character have faced each other in Death Battle, but the anime/manga character loses. Zuko is the first western animation character to lose such a fight.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Compared to Todoroki, Zuko was far more skilled at close range combat thanks to having faster reflexes and actual martial arts training. In the battle itself, he keeps Todoroki on the defensive when the fight was in close quarters. The hosts even mention that he could likely end the fight if he managed to keep in close distance. Unfortunately, Todoroki did have the powers and abilities to keep his distance.
  • Cosmic Plaything: Life dealt him a bad hand to say the least. His father outright called him "lucky to be born".
  • Defiant to the End: Even with all his limbs frozen, Zuko makes one last stand and breathes an utterly enormous fireball at Todoroki, right before he finishes him off with one last blast of ice.
Zuko: I'm the Fire Lord! I will win this for my honor!
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Wiz is heavily implied to have a bit of a man-crush on Zuko, with Boomstick reassuring him that it's OK; because everyone has the hots for Zuko. After Zuko's death, he's devastated; and personally wants to go out and grieve before recapping how Todoroki wins.
  • Facial Horror: Because he spoke out of turn during a war meeting, instead of fighting the officer he spoke out against, his father, Firelord Ozai, burned the left half of his face. It's also how he dies; after being impaled and then frozen from the inside by Shoto, his skull — frozen into an agonised scream — collapses in on itself from the pressure of all the ice around him.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Once Aang's rival who would go to any lengths to hunt him down for the Fire Nation, eventually becoming one of his strongest allies after a long road to redemption.
Zuko: Woah! I'm not the bad guy! At least, not anymore!
  • Heroic Second Wind: Bursts out of Todoroki's ice wall and puts enough pressure to nearly force his opponent to undergo frostbite. It's only temporary, since Todoroki quickly counters with a second wind of his own to put Zuko down for good.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: Aside from the usual technique required to firebend, Zuko is also a talented swordsman and martial artist, able to take on several earthbenders with skill alone.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: Todoroki freezes him inside and out, then shatters his head.
  • Logical Weakness: Firebending needs a steady rhythm of breathing to use, in addition to non-freezing temperatures to avoid having its flames stuffed out. Both come into play, as Todoroki's sub-zero temperatures manage to prevent Zuko using his limbs and attacking further.
  • No Body Left Behind: After having his body frozen inside and out, Todoroki shatters it and the glacier he's trapped in, reducing the Fire Lord into nothing.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: He and Todoroki both remark this about each other mid-fight.
    Zuko: He's just-
    Todoroki: -like me.
  • Not What It Looks Like: He didn't know Todoroki was standing behind him when he threw fire. As far as he was concerned, it was just another normal day practicing firebending.
  • Older Hero vs. Younger Villain: Played With. Both Zuko and Todoroki are certified heroes — despite the former's initial alignment with the tyrannical Fire Nation — but the dynamic of this is somewhat present considering that not only does Todoroki initiate the fight despite Zuko's attempts to wave it off, but Zuko is the older of the two, being older by several years. While the animation takes his appearance as a 19 year old post-Last Airbender, he survives long enough to be 91 years old by the time of Korra; making him still older in any scenario over the 16 year old Todoroki.
  • Playing with Fire: He's a firebender and Prince of the Fire Nation. Unlike Todoroki's Quirk which only emits fire, firebending allows Zuko to manipulate fire as well, which lets him effectively block and parry enemies' fire attacks with his bare hands. Though that advantage helps him, it isn't enough to overcome Todoroki.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: After Zuko finally decided to stop seeking his father's approval, he tried to join the Gaang, but they were justifiably skeptical of Zuko's sincerity. This also applies to him here, since Todoroki doesn't believe his claims of not being evil anymore.
  • Role Reprise: His voice actor from the original series, Dante Basco, voices Zuko yet again. And he doesn't have to use a pseudonym, in contrast to Ichigo and Sigma's voice actors.
  • Snipe Hunt: He and his uncle Iroh were tasked to hunt down the Avatar who had not been spotted for well over 100 years mainly to get him out of his father's sight.
  • The Unfavorite: He was this compared to his sister Azula, whom his father called lucky, while he likewise considered him "lucky to be born".
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: He doesn't bat an eye at the fact that Todoroki has control over both fire and ice. In the Avatar universe, this would be a major red flag because only the Avatar can bend more than one element.
  • Warrior Prince: Of the Fire Nation, though at the time this battle takes place, he's now the Fire Lord.

Shoto Todoroki

Shoto: "I want it too... I'll be a hero!"
Voiced by: John Van Doren

The Prodigious Son of Fire and Ice from My Hero Academia

  • Always Second Best: Shoto's father Endeavor was so driven by the desire to escape this and surpass All Might that he arranged a Quirk marriage with a woman with an ice Quirk and had kids with her until he got a child with a perfect mixture of their Quirks, which was Shoto.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: Averted in the sprite animation. Both his scar and his hair color do not swap to the other side when he faces the other direction.
  • Apologetic Attacker: His Bond One-Liner, in response to Zuko's Defiant to the End moment above:
    Todoroki: Apologies.
  • Archnemesis Dad: His father Endeavor, who put him through Training from Hell to surpass All Might. Eventually he managed to reconcile with his father and encourage him to be more genuinely heroic, but that's not the case here.
  • Battle Amongst the Flames: He ends up accidentally invoking this by deflecting one of Zuko's fire blasts into the forest they're standing in.
  • Emo Teen: Boomstick says that Shoto is an 'edgy teen', and that with the name of his technique "Heaven Piercing Ice Wall" you can 'taste the self-loathing'.
  • Facial Horror: Endeavor's treatment of his family caused his mother to suffer a mental breakdown that resulted in her pouring boiling water on the left side of his face, leaving a permanent scar over his left eye.
  • Heroic Second Wind: In response to Zuko's own, Todoroki harnesses both his flames and ice to trap Zuko into his ice wall and lead into the killing sequence.
  • An Ice Person: His right side allows him to generate ice cold enough to instantly freeze his opponent inside and out, inducing necrosis and causing the affected part to shatter. The power of his ice alone is enough to overwhelm Zuko, as the hosts state that his Heaven Piercing Ice Wall was far greater than anything Zuko's had to deal with.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Zuko is found to be the faster fighter, but it's not by that big a margin and Todoroki still handily takes the strength and durability advantages. In the fight proper, Zuko outmaneuvers Todoroki a lot, but in the end, Shoto catches him in one of his ice blasts and finishes him off with another.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Todoroki functions far better at long distance with his powerful, wide-area attacks, and could certainly keep Zuko at bay with them. However, he also did have some experience at fighting against close-range combatants like Stain, giving him experience against Zuko even if he could bypass his defenses.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: He and Zuko both remark this about each other mid-fight.
    Zuko: He's just-
    Todoroki: -like me.
  • Parental Favoritism: Was his father's favorite child... though that wasn't a good thing, considering the man forced him to engage in Training from Hell to surpass All Might.
  • Playing with Fire: He can generate extremely hot fire from the left side of his body. A temperature check shows that his flames are actually several degrees hotter than Zuko's, playing into his victory.
  • Required Secondary Powers:
    • He has resistances to fire and ice attacks, otherwise he would have been burned and/or frozen by his own attacks. This also gives him a ridiculous edge against Zuko's firebending.
    • Even the side effects of his quirks are meant to be this. It turns out that overusing his father Endeavor's fire quirk would result in his body overheating while overusing his ice quirk will give him frostbite. Using both at once however, will have them cancel each other out logically. This was why Endeavor arranged a quirk marriage with an ice quirk user in the first place, hoping that a child will be born with equal balance of both sides. Twice the power with none of the drawbacks.
  • Selective Obliviousness: He views Zuko's actions as proof that he's a villain. But the worst thing Zuko did was shoot fire at him-by accident; whilst Todoroki himself set fire to the surrounding forest deflecting Zuko's flames.
  • Suddenly Shouting: He does this to Zuko twice. Once at the start of the fight:
Zuko: No, wait! I'm not the bad guy here! I mean, not anymore!
Todoroki: Your actions say OTHERWISE! (attacks Zuko)
    • And again when he sees Zuko's firebending:
Todoroki: Fire? Like my father... I'LL PROVE I'M BETTER THAN BOTH OF YOU!
  • Temporarily Exaggerated Trait: Todoroki is usually rather calm and subdued, and his hatred of his father is more low-simmering than anything. Here, he flips out at Zuko because he thought he was shooting fire at him on purpose and his flames reminded him of Endeavor's powers.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: The fight between the two kicks off because Shoto mistook Zuko's training for a Villain attack, especially since the latter accidentally launched a burst of fire at him. Even worse, Zuko using fire to block his eye reminds him of Endeavour, further provoking him. Unfortunately for Zuko, Todoroki is not the one who dies in the ensuing fight, unlike most other instances of this trope in Death Battle.
  • Training from Hell: His father Endeavor forced Shoto through this starting from a very young age hoping for his son to surpass All Might.

    Flash VS Sonic
  • Beyond the Impossible: Both can easily break the rules of logic and reality with just their speed alone and a little bit of ingenuity.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Both are ridiculously overpowered comic book speedsters who are capable of doing many other ridiculous things beyond just moving impossibly fast.

The Flash III (Wally West)

Wally: "Dude! Soon as you finish your drink, turn yourself in!"
Trickster: "Got me again, Flash!"
Voiced by: Joshua Waters

The Fastest Flash from DC Comics.

  • Alliterative Name: Wally West.
  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: One of his powers is being able to vibrate his molecules at such a high frequency that he enters the fourth dimension, where no three-dimensional space can touch him.
  • Beyond the Impossible: He's made the concept of death die, traveled faster than instant teleportation, nearly destroyed the multiverse just by running, and outran the Speed Force itself (which is the source of his speed in the first place). And of course, defeating Archie Sonic qualifies by default.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: He says "You're too slow" to Sonic after stealing his chili dog.
  • Contrived Coincidence: President of the Flash fan club and nephew of Barry's girlfriend, he got to visit Barry's lab, which happened to be set up just like when Barry got his powers. He was then struck by a bolt of lightning and thrown into the chemicals just like Barry had been, and got access to the Speed Force. Even the hosts note the sheer amount of planet-alignment that had to go into effect to pull that one off.
  • Cutting the Knot: He runs forward in time to when Archie Sonic's Ultra form would wear off, then literally punches him out hard enough to vaporize him.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: Wiz admits that against almost anyone else, Archie Sonic would have most assuredly taken the win due to the sheer scope and vastness of his powers. Wally manages to prove himself to be one of the few exceptions.
Wiz: Against almost anybody else, Archie’s version of Sonic is practically unbeatable. But across a greater percentage of possible scenarios, Wally just happens to be the exception.
  • Energy Absorption: One of Wally's ability is to steal speed from someone else, slowing them down or stop completely. Wally does this to Sonic in the fight proper, but only hindered Sonic for a moment. This proved to be a very vital advantage to Wally, while Sonic's super forms would always replenish his speed, it didn't mean Wally lost what he stole, meaning that he would always be faster.
  • Genius Bruiser: Not only is Wally incredibly strong and fast thanks to the Speed Force, thanks to his analytical mind, he can apply the powers granted to him by the cosmic power in various ways. Wiz theorizes that this is a Required Secondary Power in order to function under the Speed Force's powers. He's proven wrong after Boomstick gains similar powers of his own.
  • Happily Married: With kids, as Boomstick notes. And he'll be returning to them after the battle.
  • Healing Factor: He has the exact same powers as his mentor Barry Allen, who once managed to regenerate his body from being turned into gas through his control of his body's molecules.
  • Intangibility: By vibrating his molecules at the precise frequency he needs, Wally can phase through solid matter and even alien energies that don't exist in his own reality, along with the power to enter the fourth dimension. It's this power that end up being the most valuable in the fight, as his ability to phase through solid matter and Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence would allow him to outlast the Nigh-Invulnerable Super and Ultra Sonic forms that he couldn't deal with otherwise, and his feats of phasing through reality-warping energies allowed him to avoid Sonic's attempts at a Cosmic Retcon.
  • Kleptomaniac Hero: He grabs Sonic's chili dog and eats it right in front of him. Sonic does not take this well.
  • Legacy Character: When Barry Allen died during the Crisis on Infinite Earths event, Wally took up the mantle of the Flash in his honor. As well, he's the second Flash to show up in Death Battle after his mentor.
  • Made of Iron: Thanks to having absolute control over every atom of his body, he can survive in the depths of a black hole by vibrating his body's molecules.
  • Megaton Punch: His strongest attack is the Infinite Mass Punch, an attack that hits with the force of a white dwarf star. It's also how he finishes off his opposition.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: When he runs through the Speed Force before re-emerging to kill Sonic, Wally's hair grows unbelievably long and turns to golden flames.
  • The Power of Love: Wally is able to keep himself grounded to reality via his connection to his family. He even calls on them to keep him from being erased by Sonic's Chaos Control and enter the Speed Force.
    Wally: Linda...Jai...Iris... HELP ME NOW!
  • Red Ones Go Faster: Scarlet Speedster, obviously.
  • Screw Destiny: Wally's impossible speed has let him break reality and fate multiple times, to the point he ran so fast that death itself was forced to die. This helped him counter Sonic's Chaos wish abilities and Plot Armor, as it meant even if fate bent to Sonic's will, Wally could still defy it either way.
  • Story-Breaker Power: He can run so fast that he can kill death, outrun the multiverse, and can No-Sell causality due to The Power of Love.
  • Strong and Skilled: A major factor in how he managed to defeat his furry foe. It's determined that with the power of the Infinite Mass Punch, Wally far outstrips Base Sonic in terms of power output, and thanks to his experience with using the Speed Force, he had the abilities necessary to outlast the Nigh-Invulnerable Super and Ultra Sonic forms.
  • Super-Reflexes: He can react to things in less than an attosecond. This gives Wally the edge in reaction time as it means Wally is at least 100 times faster than Sonic.
  • Super-Speed: Wally can run faster than light thanks to his connection to the Speed Force, a dimension of infinite kinetic energy. He's also got the endurance to keep it going for days at a time. As Boomstick puts it, he's so fast that he looks at reality, spits in its face, then gives it a swirly. He's outran Death, beat instant teleportation, and has even been deemed "The Fastest Being in the Multiverse". In the analysis proper, it's noted that due to the insane feats of speed that both combatants have, they were both considered immeasurable, ironically meaning that speed was essentially a non-factor in this battle, though the hosts note that Wally has more experience with speed feats of this magnitude.
  • Time Travel: Another requisite Flash power granted by the Speed Force, by running at just the right frequency, Wally can go back and forth in time as he pleases, even choosing exactly where he wants to end up. It's this power that ends up cinching the win for Wally, as he runs forward through time at the exact moment that Ultra Sonic runs out and hits him with the finishing blow.

Sonic Maurice Hedgehog

Sonic: "Ooh, I'd like to hang, but I gotta juice!"
Voiced by: Nicholas Andrew Louie

The Most Supersonic Sonic of All the Sonics

  • Alternate Self: Archie Sonic serves as one to previous combatant and his video game counterpart, Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • Always Someone Better: He maybe one of fiction's most broken speedsters ever created with a ridiculous amount of power at his side but unfortunately for Archie Sonic, his opponent turned out to be way more broken than he is and the Blue Blur actually ended up losing the battle.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Archie Sonic is so fast he can do things like Move in the Frozen Time, grabbing water and throwing it like a solid chunk of matter before the physics of displacement kick in, and make a run of the multiverse in a day on the Cosmic Highway.
    Wiz: It's ridiculous! It's absurd! It's unexplainable!
Boomstick: It's Sonic the freakin' Hedgehog!
  • Composite Character: In an inverse of Sonic's last appearance on the show, this incarnation of his takes after his appearances in Archie Comics' storylines, which had to be excluded in the second battle against Mario due to differing from the source material too much. This also marks the first time a character in Death Battle is specifically analyzed through an alternate continuity version of themselves. That said, this version uses both Pre- and Post-Super Genesis Wave versions of Sonic.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: At the fight's climax, Archie Sonic gets punched so hard by Wally's Infinite Mass Punch, the hedgehog's body spasms out of control and is forced to relive every second of his life while screaming in distorted agony before finally disintegrating.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He attacks and ultimately tries to Ret-Gone Wally after the Flash snatches his chili dog and eats it in front of him. He fails, however.
  • La Résistance: In this continuity, Sonic is one of the top-ranking members of the Freedom Fighters, a resistance fighting to free the planet Mobius from the reign of Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. Boomstick refers to them as Care Bear Vietcong.
  • Lost Food Grievance: While they were technically already racing each other, the fight really starts when Wally swipes one of Sonic's chili dogs.
  • Move in the Frozen Time: Archie Sonic is so fast he can move in stopped time. As in Flash Man's Time Stopper ability. Even Wiz doesn't know what to say about that.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: When in the Super and Ultra Sonic forms, Sonic is impervious to almost all damage, even able to No-Sell Enerjak's molecular manipulation. While Wally had no means of getting around this, his Time Travel powers, ability to run days on end, and own Nigh-Invulnerable nature in the form of entering higher dimensions, he could outlast these forms.
  • No Body Left Behind: Wally West punches Sonic so hard that it blows Sonic up and reduces him to pixels.
  • Plot Armor: No, really. Both Doctor Eggman and Mammoth Mogul had separately come to the same conclusion. Due to the amount of Chaos Energy he's come into contact over the years, Sonic has become a literal envoy of Chaos itself. Fate itself bends over backwards in order to ensure his victory, and Mammoth Mogul eventually realized that he can't beat him normally, needing to wait until Sonic dies in order to win. Unfortunately, Wally could counter even this level of power.
  • Reality Warper: The Chaos Force is basically this, controlling the elements, the molecules of person, even rewriting the planet itself. Ultra Sonic tries to use this to Ret-Gone Wally, but his "lightning rod" with his family keeps him tethered and allows him to stop Sonic.
  • Serious Business: As he says when Wally snatches his chili dog, "Don't mess with the hog's dogs!"
  • Stone Wall: He's no real match for Wally in his Base Form. In his Ultra form, however, he's invincible, and has powers over reality itself. Heck, him having Plot Armor is a plot point in his comics.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Wiz and Boomstick both question how it's possible for Eggman or anyone else to beat him given how overpowered he is. They also conclude that he's so overpowered that Wally is one of the only characters period that wouldn't suffer a Curbstomp Battle from Archie Sonic.
  • Super Mode: Unlike the video game version, all Sonic needs to do is gather enough Chaos Energy to access Super Sonic, which can come from anything from Power Rings to the Chaos Emeralds to even Chaos Energy from enemy attacks in a pinch. He has the even more powerful Ultra Sonic, which allows him to do things like alter the atomic structure of matter around him.
  • Super-Reflexes: He's fast enough enough to not just dodge lightning, but is able to stay dry in a rainstorm by dodging every drop before it hits him. His whole "water grabbing and throwing it as a solid" feat was done within .0000000000001 milliseconds (or 100 attoseconds). Sadly for Sonic, Wally can react at less than an attosecond, giving the DC speedster the edge here.
  • Super-Speed: Wouldn't be Sonic without it. Though this version of him is so fast that he practically defies all the laws of physics. Both he and Wally are eventually deemed to be immeasurable, moving so fast that they can't properly put it into numbers. However, an edge is given to Wally due to Sonic not having as much experience with speed feats like this.
  • Tempting Fate: He taunts Wally with his chili dog, saying, "Want a bite?" Wally takes him up on this offer, and eats the whole dog.
  • Time Travel: As noted on Wiz's notes, Sonic could Time Travel, but unlike Wally, he can't really look into the past or future and choose where to end up.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: In a sense. Compared to Wally, he has much less experience with using his speed for reality warping feats. This is what causes him to lose, as while while his power is absurd Wally has enough experience with fighting reality warping beings that he could reliably counter Sonic's abilities.

    The Seven Battle Royale

The Homelander (John Gillman)

Homelander: "Who's the real heroes? You are!"
Voiced by: Yong Yea

  • The Ace: Homelander is stated to be the best, able to fly faster than a F16 Fighting Falcon, toss a baseball into space, and survive every weapon on Earth (including nuclear bombs). As he's able to easily defeat the other members of The Seven, so his participation in the simulation is as referee. Until he decides to get involved anyways and kills the last man standing, taking the win.
  • All-American Face: He plays off this persona to the public. To United States citizens, he's a selfless, God-fearing patriot that's as American as apple pie. In reality, however...
  • An Arm and a Leg: Homelander is on the giving end of this trope, using his laser vision to remove Wiz's arm after he starts insulting him in the commentator's booth.
  • Celebrity Superhero: Homelander, and all of The Seven are employees of the Vought Corporation, and are promoted by the Corporation as celebrities so they can make money off merchandising rights. Vought also ensures that The Seven only get good publicity, even during the Death Battle with Black Noir acting as a "commentator" alongside Wiz and Boomstick..
  • Energy Weapon: Homelander can fire powerful beams of energy from his eyes to efficiently take out enemies.
  • Flight: Homelander can fly faster than a F16 Fighting Falcon.
  • Nominal Hero: Despite being a hero, Homelander mostly does publicity stunts outside of some genuinely heroic moments, such as when he and Queen Maeve left a plane of passengers to die.
  • Super-Toughness: Is outright stated to be immune to every weapon on the planet.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Homelander is a raging psychopath beneath his affable façade.
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: Homelander waits until all of his teammates are killed to snatch victory from Billy.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He casually throws away Billy's laser baby when Stormfront confronts him.

Queen Maeve (Maggie Shaw)

Queen Maeve: "Ugh. Disgusting."
Voiced by: Natalie Van Sistine

  • Action Girl: Maeve is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant with superhuman strength.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: Another meta example: Natalie Von Sistine voiced both Wonder Woman and Black Widow, both of whom won (in the case of the former, her second and third fights). Then Natalie voiced Queen Maeve who lost.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Queen Maeve is on both ends of this trope. First, she punches A-Train in half, then Billy blasts her in half.
  • The Heart: Is said to fill this role on the Seven, never leaving an innocent person behind, all while a clip of the botched rescue of Flight 37 plays on screen.
  • Strong and Skilled: Maeve is a master martial artist who supplements her technique with superhuman strength. The combination alone allowed her to outlast the rest of The Seven.
  • Super-Strength: She is the second strongest member of the Seven.
  • Super-Toughness: She has the second toughest skin on the team, and survives a building falling on her. The baby's eye beams are still too much for her however.
  • Wonder Woman Wannabe: Her design and character are clearly inspired by Wonder Woman. Fittingly, her voice actress voiced Wonder Woman in her last two fights.

A-Train (Reggie Franklin)

A-Train: "Please! Not even a threat! I got this!"
Voiced by: Conrad Haynes

  • Accidental Murder: He accidentally killed a woman by running through her and reducing her to gibs on the pavement.
  • Dented Iron: Wiz and Boomstick note that A-Train's recent ability to perform has been suffering due to his addiction to Compound V. It shows in the animation: He starts off strong, killing Deep and disarming Billy, but after a dragged out fight with Maeve and Starlight, he becomes winded and makes a fatal error charging at Maeve.
  • Jerkass: The man is a dick through and through. He spends the whole fight taunting and cursing at his opponents.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: He makes an attempt to kill Queen Maeve while blinded. She just punches the top half of his body off.
  • Super-Speed: A-Train can run faster than the speed of sound, and is the fastest of the Seven (outside of possibly Homelander in flight).

The Deep (Kevin Moskowitz)

The Deep: "There's no way us, "The Seven", the "heroes" are gonna let you walk aw-"
Voiced by: Billy Bob Thompson

  • Butt-Monkey: He has the shortest rundown in Death Battle history, which ends with Boomstick saying he sucks, with even his own teammate Black Noir nodding in agreement. Then A-Train kills The Deep before the fight starts.
  • Epic Fail: The Deep is now the single worst performer in the history of Death Battle, dying in the opening seconds of the fight. Even Michelangelo, the previous record-holder for quickest death, outlasted him.
  • Hate Sink: The hosts hammer it in that his powers are only useful underwater, but there's also the fact that he sexually assaulted Starlight. Even Black Noir, who is in the commentator's booth to ensure that Wiz and Boomstick tow the corporate line, can only nod in agreement when Boomstick states he sucks. No tears were shed when he becomes a gorey pulp on the ground.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: See his quote? It ends with A-Train splattering him.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: He gets reduced to paste by A-Train.
  • No Body Left Behind: A-Train splatters him completely.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: It's pointed out that his ability to travel deep seas means he can survive some serious pressure on his body compared to the average human, but the pressure of his best figure (2 miles below sea level) is still only a tenth of the average bullet.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Boomstick concedes that his ability to survive well below the surface of the sea means that he has to be able to survive some impressive water pressure... compared to a human.
  • Smug Super: He ridicules the idea of Billy taking them out first. Then A-Train slams into him.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Is capable of communicating with marine life.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: It's all but outright stated that his abilities are exclusively useful in or near water. On land, he's just a fairly strong human, and completely vulnerable to being splattered by A-Train.

Starlight (Annie January)

Starlight: "Big mistake!"
Voiced by: Anna Chloe Moorey

  • Dead-Hand Shot: After Billy slices a building in half to crush Starlight, she gives this.
  • Flight: Starlight is able to fly.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Is the only genuinely heroic member of the Seven, and blonde to boot.
  • Light 'em Up: Her powers allow her to absorb and then channel light as plasma.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Starlight is in absolute horror when a civilian burns to death after she sets a building on fire.
  • Super-Strength: Like the rest of the Seven, she is far stronger than the average human.
  • Super-Toughness: Her skin is extremely durable, able to handle multiple bullets with no injury. She's still far below Maeve in this category, though.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: When Billy Butcher brings part of a building down on Starlight and Maeve, Starlight can only glare at Billy in defeat with a groaning "Fuck you."
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Her powers make her very dangerous, but she has the least experience of all the fighters. Ultimately, because of the huge gap in experience, it wasn't a matter of if Starlight lost, but when.

William "Billy" Butcher

Billy: "Alright, Supercunts! Who's first?"
Voiced by: Kay Eluvian

  • Anti-Hero: He and The Boys are trying to take down Vought and The Seven, and they are more than willing to resort to lethal measures to do so as evidenced by Hughie killing Translucent.
  • Badass Normal: Billy may be powerless but he is still able to go toe to toe with Supes like Translucent all the same. This actually benefits him in this sense as due to being the only combatant to not have superpowers, he was perceived as the lowest threat to the rest of the Seven, allowing him to outlive everyone aside from Homelander and even kill both Starlight and Queen Maeve.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Diabolical." Boomstick uses this when first referring to Butcher and serves as Billy's Pre-Mortem Catchphrase before Homelander splatters him.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Billy, to compensate for not being a Supe himself, is more than willing to use anything to take them down, including a super-baby that shoots plasma beams from its eyes.
  • Country Matters: Read Billy's quote above.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The Boys research their Supes opponents and prepare to take each of them down. This is actually one of the biggest factors in his victory, as unlike most Death Battle combatants, Billy actually has prior knowledge of his opponents in-canon, allowing him to pick off most of the Seven despite being heavily outclassed otherwise.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Billy is subjected to this by Homelander right before Wiz announces his victory, getting pancaked and splattered by the Seven's leader.
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: Well, the hosts are made to present Billy and crew as criminals, but Wiz does take the time to point out that despite the name, "the Boys" serving under Butcher do include a girl among their ranks, describing them as "inclusive".
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: In a opposite case to the Seven, The Boys (sans Billy Butcher) do what they do to deal with corrupt superheroes like the Seven, only problem is that Vought plays the five of them up as cruel villains who want to kill all Supes, this is even shown by Vought making Wiz and Boomstick subtly slander The Boys in their preview.
  • Kaizo Trap: How he meets his end. After killing Starlight and Maeve, Billy celebrates his victory, but forgets in his excitement that the referee is Homelander. The same Homelander who has a vested interest in killing Billy right then and there.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: After Billy achieves victory, Homelander splatters him.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: By technicality of Homelander not being a combatant but a referee, Billy is the winner but is swiftly murdered afterwards.
  • Squashed Flat: His fate at the end of the battle by Homelander.
  • Weak, but Skilled: The clincher in his victory. Billy is, comparatively speaking, the weakest fighter in the matchup, but he makes up for it with cunning, extensive research, and being just nonthreatening enough to be ignored while he prepares his countermeasures against the Seven once they do set their sights on him.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Part of the reason Butcher lasted as long as he did is because the Seven were all too busy with fighting each other to deal with him; due to his lack of powers, they had to give him lowest priority in the battle royale, giving Butcher time to strategize and wait out the deaths of as many of his opponents as he could.

    Winter Soldier VS Red Hood
  • Back from the Dead: Both died during their sidekicking days that greatly affected the ones they were serving for before being resurrected much later in time as gun-wielding villains turned anti-heroes.
  • Dead Sidekick: Both were notable instances in comic books but not anymore.
  • Kid Sidekick: Both were once colorful young sidekicks to popular and recognizible superheroes.

Winter Soldier (James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes)

Rocket Raccoon: (while fighting back to back alongside Winter Soldier) "Yeah, come on! Get some, get some!"
Portrayed by: Tyler Tackett

Marvel's Brainwashed Assassin

  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Like Red Hood, Winter Soldier is an anti-hero who has a past record of killing. Unlike Jason, Bucky primarily killed because he was brainwashed to do so and did his best to redeem himself. Meanwhile Red Hood grew tired of Batman's no-kill policy and veered towards being killer vigilante willingly, even in his more heroic moments.
  • Alliterative Name: Technically, his full name is James Buchanan Barnes, but he's better known by his nickname of Bucky Barnes. Also applies to the actor playing him, Tyler Tackett.
  • Artificial Limbs: His trademark metal arm, given to him after his body was found in the sea missing an arm.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: After falling in battle, Bucky was revived by Russian scientists and brainwashed to become the Winter Soldier, an assassin fighting against the country he once protected proudly.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: His Bond One-Liner is this, basically treating the fact that he killed one of Gotham City's best and most brutal vigilantes in a fight as part of his job.
Bucky: This is Agent Barnes. Target... eliminated. Moving on.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Guns, knives, crowbars... He uses anything within arm's reach as a weapon. And that last one proves specially effective on Jason...
  • Composite Character: Averted. This version of Bucky doesn't have the vibranium arm of the MCU version. His arm is an unidentified alloy which Wiz suspects to be a titanium composite like Iron Man armors.
  • Crowbar Combatant: Uses a crowbar he finds lying on the ground at one point during the fight, unintentionally pressing Jason's Trauma Button — from his original death at the hands of The Joker — in the process.
  • Dissonant Serenity: He's very calm when talking to his superiors after an intense battle with Jason Todd that ended with him crushing Jason's skull. Then again, he is a trained assassin. It comes with the territory.
  • Eagleland: As the sidekick of Captain America, he was a Type 1.
  • Facepalm Of Doom: After stunning Red Hood with his self-destructing gun, Winter Soldier kills him by grabbing Jason's head with his metal hand and crushing his face in — helmet and all — with his fingers.
  • Handicapped Badass: Losing one arm didn't slow him down any, though that's partially because his Russian captors gave him a mechanical one to replace it. This also applies to him in the fight when Jason briefly disables his arm with an electronic Batarang, and he uses his organic arm to pick up a crowbar and start smacking Jason up.
  • Knife Fight: Engages in one with Jason briefly. Jason stabs him, but he shrugs it off and hits harder.
  • Military Superhero: Was one, same as Captain America.
  • Logical Weakness: His mechanical arm is vulnerable to EMPs, as Jason proves with his Batarang. He still wins, though; in no small part due to his arm having the technology to recover from said pulse.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Goes to town on Red Hood with a crowbar, and this is after his bionic arm was incapacitated.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: He never once speaks to Jason throughout their Death Battle; his only dialogue before the killing blow is a quiet "Huh" after seeing the Venom injection. Otherwise, his whole mindset is relentlessly coming after and attacking him the whole time.
  • No-Sell: He shrugs off Jason stabbing him with a knife and pulls it out afterwards.
  • Not Quite Dead: He was found in the Atlantic ocean by the Russians clinically dead, but preserved by the freezing cold waters of the Atlantic ocean he had been submerged in. They managed to resuscitate him as if his heart had just stopped and turned him into a brainwashed assassin for the Soviet Union.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: It's heavily implied that he killed eight members of the League of Assassins before going after Jason.
  • Self-Destructing Security: His guns are rigged to explode if anyone other than him tries to use them. This happens when Red Hood tries to use his own machine gun on him, leaving him open for Bucky to finish him off. As a quick Freeze-Frame Bonus, Bucky can be seen with a quick Grin of Audacity when Jason fails to shoot him, right before his gun explodes.
  • Sidekick: Became one to the one and only Captain America after accidentally discovering his true identity.
  • Silent Antagonist: Silent Hero Antagonist, in his case. He only speaks after killing Jason. Apart from that, the only sound he makes is grunting and yelling.
  • Strong and Skilled: Has had decades of experience and training from multiple sources and his metal arm and the Infinity Formula give him superhuman strength. This gave him an edge over Red Hood, having more experience and far greater strength than him.
  • Super Serum: Has been injected with the Infinity Formula, which slowed his aging and greatly increased his physical abilities. This was a significant strength advantage over Red Hood, who could only temporarily match that strength with Venom.

Red Hood (Jason Todd)

Red Hood: "Those are the heads of all your lieutenants, that took me two hours... you wanna see what I can get done in a whole evening?"
Portrayed by: Tim Neff

DC's Resurrected Robin Turned Vigilante

  • Back from the Dead: Thanks to Superboy Prime punching through the walls of reality and a dip in the Lazarus Pit, he came back to life.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": His response to the Joker's voice taunting him when he's receiving a crowbar to his cowl.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: His loss to Bucky broke a five win streak that DC had since Static's victory over Miles Morales in the Season 7 premiere.
  • Cool Helmet: Jason's cowl qualifies as this.
  • Cool Sword: He can summon twin sabers called the All-Blades to battle against supernatural opponents. However, these do not appear in the battle itself, as they can only be summoned in the presence of true evil. Since Bucky doesn't fit that criteria, they could not be used.
  • Delinquent: He was one before he met Batman and became Robin. The very first time they met was when Batman caught Jason stealing the wheels off the Batmobile.
  • Godzilla Threshold: He doesn't even touch his canister of Venom until he recovers from Bucky's crowbar beatdown, and when he does, he utters a quick "Sorry, Bruce". Unfortunately, it turns out to not be enough to turn the tide.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He thinks Batman's Thou Shalt Not Kill rule is ineffective in saving the city of Gotham, so as far as he's concerned, criminals deserve to die.
  • Hearing Voices: He hears the Joker taunting him when Bucky starts bashing him with a crowbar, prompting him to tell the Joker to shut up.
  • Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: Justified and then subverted. Jason is in the middle of eating dinner when Bucky attacks him, forcing him to go through the first stage of the fight sans helmet. Once he gets an opening, he puts it back on for the rest of the fight.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He picked up Bucky's gun and tried to shoot him with it, but thanks to the gun self-destructing when anyone other than Bucky uses it, it stuns him and left him open for his opponent to deliver the finishing blow.
  • Legacy Character: Was the second Robin and is the second Red Hood, taking over the first identity from Dick Grayson and the second identity from the man who became the Joker.
  • The Mentally Disturbed: Being beaten to death by the Joker and then resurrected with a Lazarus Pit did not do wonders for his sanity. And it shows, when he hallucinates the Joker's sneering voice after Bucky hits him with a crowbar, and furiously screams at the Joker to shut up.
  • Non-Indicative Name: In-universe, Boomstick points out that his so-called "Hood" is clearly a helmet.
  • Not Me This Time: The Death Battle starts off with Jason telling Bruce Wayne that he did not kill eight members of the League of Assassins earlier that night. He's possibly correct, if the Winter Soldier did it instead.
  • Oh, Crap!: When he realizes the Soldier is outside his restaurant, he runs for cover before the Soldier starts shooting holes in the door.
  • Power Echoes: His cowl electronically distorts his voice. Also...
  • Power Makes Your Voice Deep: When he injects himself with Venom, his growls and shouts appear even deeper than before.
  • Punch Catch: After taking Venom, he becomes strong enough to catch Winter Soldier's metal fist and twist it.
  • Red Is Violent: The Red Hood, ladies and gentlemen.
  • The Scrappy: It was discussed in-universe during his analysis that as Robin, he was hated by fans so much that they voted to have him killed off in a poll.
  • Sickening "Crunch!": His muscles give this off after he injects himself with Venom. And then his forehead does it when Bucky crushes it inside his cowl.
  • Sidekick: He was one to Batman for a time before being murdered by the Joker, resurrected, and becoming a vengeful antihero.
  • Situational Sword: While his All-Blades were brought up in his analysis, Jason ultimately never uses them since he can only summon them at the presence of pure evil, something that would be a real stretch to define Bucky as.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Having been trained by Batman himself, he is a master at this. During the fight, he is able to disappear when he is covered for a split-second by a swinging door.
  • Stop Hitting Yourself: Bucky forces his gun hand back until he shoots himself in the head in their first fight. Since he's wearing a bulletproof cowl, he shrugs it off.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Jason ends up doing this when he hears the Joker's voice taunting him in the kitchen, and due to his cowl electronically distorting his voice, it comes across as straight-up demonic.
Red Hood: Shut up... NO! SHUT UP!
  • Super Serum: Frequently uses Venom to temporarily increase his strength tenfold. While he is able to use it to match the Winter Soldier's own enhanced strength the fact that its only a temporary boost means Bucky had a serious advantage over him.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Jason loves Big Belly Burgers. He's about to tuck into one at the start of the Death Battle when Bucky shows up.
  • Trauma Button: Being hit by Bucky's crowbar causes Jason to flash back to his violent original death at the hands of The Joker, complete with the Clown Prince of Crime's voice taunting him and him screaming a Big "SHUT UP!" at Bucky as he flies into a violent rage.
Joker: (taunting sing-sing tone) Jason... oh, Jaaaaasonnnn! (deranged cackling) He's not coming for you! No one is.
Red Hood: Shut up... NO! (Joker's cackling continues) SHUT UP! (lunges at Winter Soldier)
  • Villain Has a Point: Discussed in-universe. Boomstick notes that if Batman had killed the Joker earlier, before he adopted Jason, he'd never have killed Jason in the first place.
  • Villains Out Shopping: More like Anti-Hero Having Dinner. He's returning to his restaurant hideout to tuck into a Big Belly Burger when the Soldier finds him.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Downplayed. He's trained under Batman's tutelage as Robin and with various assassin organizations following his resurrection, becoming feared crime fighter in his universe. While he became stronger from the Lazarus Pits, his main strength boost only came from a temporary dose of Venom. When faced against someone like Winter Solider, who has trained for decades longer and was permanently stronger from the Infinity Formula treatment, Red Hood was doomed to fall eventually.

    Venom VS Crona
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Both of them had pretty rough lives and lived under Abusive Parents while growing up before they gained their superpowers.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Both characters in their storylines used to start off as villains before being reformed and becoming more heroic.
  • Power Gives You Wings: At one point in the fight, they both use their powers to make wings and bring the fight into the air.
  • The Symbiote: Both are bonded and partners to dark and sentient beings that granted them superhuman abilities. Although they may not get along with each other all the time, both Eddie/Venom and Crona/Ragnarok can be scary and effective duos when necessary.

Venom (Eddie Brock)

Venom: "See us everywhere, even in your nightmares."
Voiced by: Adam Wennick

The Lethal Symbiote and Spider-Man's Best Frenemy

  • Abusive Parents: Eddie's callous and abusive father used the Sin-Eater scandal as an excuse to disown him, having blamed him for his wife's death in childbirth. He also previously forced Eddie to claim innocence over running over a child while drunk driving and rigged the trial.
  • Adaptational Villainy: In modern takes on the comics, Eddie is able to restrict Venom's taste for human brain to criminals and evil beings. While Ragnarok could qualify as evil since he's a bully to Crona, Crona themselves are an innocent trauma victim- and Venom also tries to consume their brain.
  • Alien Blood: As shown when Ragnarok injures Venom, his blood is green.
  • Black Swords Are Better: Venom is capable of manifesting Necroswords — jet-black blades capable of killing gods — from his symbiote's living abyss. He uses this to clash blades with Ragnarok.
  • Combat Tentacles: Using its shapeshifting powers, the Venom symbiote can extend tentacles to attack or restrain opponents.
  • Dark and Troubled Past:
    • The Venom symbiote was exiled by the other symbiotes, ended up bonding to a genocidal alien warrior who corrupted it with bloodlust, was sentenced to death and imprisoned by the other symbiotes, and (apparently) bonded to Deadpool. It found an ideal host with Spider-Man, but he rejected and tried to kill it.
    • As a teenager, Eddie Brock accidentally killed a child while driving under the influence and was beaten by his father until he pleaded innocent. Desperate for approval, he became a successful journalist... until he was fired from his job after his exposé interviewing the Sin-Eater serial killer was debunked by Spider-Man catching the real Sin-Eater — revealing that the man Eddie had been interviewing was a compulsive confessor. He was subsequently disowned by his father (who already hated him), divorced by his wife, and diagnosed with cancer.note  Eddie went to pray for forgiveness before committing suicide, and found the symbiote instead.
  • Defiant to the End: He manages to get one final Badass Boast in before Crona destroys him.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The Venom symbiote is an entity of living darkness whose history dates back to the beginning of the universe.
  • Fight Off the Kryptonite: Downplayed. The Venom symbiote has canonically built up a tolerance to its natural weaknesses of fire and sound from repeated exposure, but Crona via Scream Resonance is capable of unleashing sonic attacks much stronger than the levels the symbiote has shown being capable of just barely surviving, meaning said tolerance only delayed his defeat.
  • Flight: The Venom symbiote can sprout draconic wings and fly, which Venom does when Ragnarok uses True Black Dragon to manifest his own set of dragon wings.
  • Healing Factor: The Venom symbiote is capable of healing its host from injuries as severe as having their torso vaporized, although this takes time and leaves the host in a weakened state until they're fully healed. Unfortunately for Venom, Crona's Scream Resonance proved capable of overtaxing said healing.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: Venom started out as a supervillain seeking to get revenge on Spider-Man, but both Eddie and the symbiote have since oscillated between being heroic and villainous, before settling on heroic.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Venom attacks Crona and Ragnarok in the hopes of killing them and eating their brains. Both Eddie and the Symbiote end up vaporized, and their souls are eaten by Ragnarok.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Crona impales Venom right before vaporizing him at point-blank range.
  • Metronomic Man Mashing: Venom does this to Crona with his tongue, making them see Circling Birdies.
  • Monstrous Humanoid: When bonded to a humanoid host, Venom appears as a bulky humanoid monster with large white eyespots, clawed fingers and occasionally toes, fang-lined jaws, and stylized white spider-emblems on their chest and back.
  • Mugging the Monster: Sees Crona as easy prey, with their meek and cowardly personality. Unfortunately, Crona is shown to not only possess much better speed and strength feats than Venom has, but they also possessed a weapon that can make use of Venom's weakness, very loud sounds. Venom does not live this, and both Eddie and Venom gets their souls eaten for their trouble.
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: Zig-Zagged. Venom has a noticeable build and is stronger than the thinner Peter Parker, but the even-thinner Crona is physically even stronger than him.
  • No Body Left Behind: Crona and Ragnarok completely disintegrate him with Scream Resonance.
  • Off with His Head!: Clearly what Venom intended to inflict on Crona upon forming an ax blade and slamming it into their neck. Unfortunately for him, the only thing it did was cut through Crona's skin and release the black blood, followed by Crona kicking the fight into high gear.
  • Orifice Invasion: The symbiote can pull this off on a helpless victim, and if Venom wants to they can pour in so much the victim explodes. However, this possible insta-kill move was ruled to be unlikely to work against Crona as not only do they have Ragnarok living inside of them, but they can produce so much black blood from their body at a moment's notice it's unlikely the symbiote could force its way into their body long and fast enough to pull it off.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: Uses this to grab Crona's foot.
  • Religious Bruiser: Eddie was raised a devout Catholic and met the Venom symbiote while praying for forgiveness before he intended to commit suicide. In the preview, Eddie is shown praying in a church before Crona interrupts him.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: In addition to forming fangs and claws, the Venom symbiote can manifest arm-blades and even swords.
  • Super-Speed: In addition to Bullet Catch feats, the Venom symbiote was able to match up against Spider Man 2099, who in turn could catch a thrown Mjolnir, which would put Venom's maximum speeds at around the ball-park of Mach 2000. Unfortunately, this was still slower than Crona's scaled speed to Black Star, who could move around Mach 9000.
  • The Symbiote: The Venom symbiote is a member of the Klyntar, a race of amorphous black goo that bonds to host organisms.
  • To Serve Man: When the fight begins, Venom eagerly declares his intent to eat Crona and Ragnarok — especially their brains.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Venom's recent comic history has brought a set of new abilities for him to bring into Death Battle, making him this compared to his fight against Bane. Unfortunately for him, these power-ups weren't enough to surpass Crona.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: Attacking Ragnarok and Crona to have them for dinner costs Venom and Eddie both their lives.
  • Vocal Evolution: Venom's voice is noticeably less shrill compared to his last battle.
  • Winged Humanoid: After the Venom symbiote was upgraded by Knull, it became able to manifest draconic wings. When Crona and Ragnarok use True Black Dragon to fly away, Venom busts out his own wings to take the fight to the sky.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Crona's visibly younger than Eddie, and Venom is all too happy to eat their brain as well as Ragnarok's.

Crona

Crona: "Just give up, I'm tired of trying to figure out how to deal with you!"
Crona voiced by: Sarah Anne Williams
Ragnarok voiced by: John Van Doren

The Deadly Demon Sword from Soul Eater

  • Abusive Parents: Medusa used Crona as her personal test subject to create a Kishin.
  • Alien Blood: Due to Medusa experimenting on them, Crona has jet-black blood with supernatural properties.
    Venom: Your blood...
Crona: I know... [giggles mirthlessly] It's black.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Crona is referred to by Wiz with they/them pronouns. In the manga/anime, Crona's gender is never revealed either, with the possibility being a Running Gag. They're voiced by an actress here, with their high, child-like voice possibly being that of either a small boy or a small girl.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Crona always acts like they're on the verge of a full-on panic attack, and Ragnarok constantly bullying them doesn't help the image. But they're also a Tyke-Bomb raised and conditioned with the intent of becoming a Mad God, and Venom learns to his detriment pushing them too far was a fatal mistake.
  • Black Swords Are Better: Ragnarok's Full-Weapon Transformation is a jet-black broadsword fittingly called the "Black Sword". Crona also has access to three other black swords: a pair of katana manifested from Ragnarok, called Abyss of Despair & Uncleanliness; and a short rectangular blade manifested from the Black Clown, called the Darkness.
  • Bloody Murder: Thanks to their mother, Crona's blood is an Ominous Obsidian Ooze called Black Blood, which they can harden and shape in any way they chose. Ragnarok was turned into this blood and forced into Crona's bloodstream.
  • Bully and Wimp Pairing: The loud and brash Ragnarok is the Bully to the timid and tortured Crona's Wimp.
  • Call-Back: Their Pre-Mortem One-Liner is "I hate you", which were Carnage's last words in the last battle between a Klyntar Symbiote and a pink-haired anime character.
  • Circling Birdies: Crona has these after getting swung around by Venom, allowing Venom to attempt to take their head off.
  • Cowardly Lion: Crona is a constantly nervous, easy-to-frighten character (their abusive mother is to thank for that), but when Venom attacks them, they fight back and eventually kill him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Crona's mother Medusa was a Mad Scientist who regularly used her child as a guinea pig for her experiments with the plan to turn Crona into a Kishin.
  • Defends Against Their Own Kind: After becoming a Kishin, Crona killed all the rest of the Kishin.
  • Demon of Human Origin: Medusa wanted Crona to end up becoming a Kishin, or Demon-God. And she technically succeeded- but then Crona decided to kill all the other Kishin instead of joining them.
  • Dual Wielding: After growing in power from absorbing souls, Ragnarok gained the ability to manifest himself as three separate blades for Crona to wield; one in Crona's hands while the other two being held by Black Blood arms.
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: Inverted: Crona says "I hate you" to Venom, just like Carnage said to Lucy right before she bombed him into thin air, but Venom's the one who gets killed instead.
  • Flight: Using their True Black Dragon ability, Crona's Black Blood can be formed into draconic wings that allow them to fly.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Ragnarok calls Crona a "turd" right before Venom attacks them.
  • Guinea Pig Family: Was experimented on by their own mother, Medusa Gorgon.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: As noted by Boomstick, Crona has a "complicated" relationship with being either a good or bad guy, with them juggling between Medusa's and Maka's influences. Still, they ultimately chose to settle on "good guy" after deciding their friendship with Maka was the right motivation for sealing the Kishin Asura away.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Crona is deemed to be much stronger and faster than Venom and their Scream Resonance is deemed to much stronger than any sonic attack Venom was capable of enduring.
  • Living Weapon: Like many weapons in Soul Eater, Ragnarok is alive. Unlike other weapons in Soul Eater, Ragnarok was melted down into Black Blood and forcibly merged with Crona.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Most of Crona's attacks are sound based, which, after determining how loud they are, was found to be the perfect weapon to take down Venom.
  • Monstrous Humanoid: Ragnarok can manifest as a humanoid entity with a white X on its face, bulging white eyes with X-shaped pupils, and can form a large mouth with Tombstone Teeth.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Ragnarok can manifest his arms out of Crona's body to grab and hold things, and doing so is actually a critical component of their Dual Wielding where he's holding two of their three swords.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: By the end of Soul Eater, despite having a build reasonably describable as a bundle of sticks, Crona was strong enough to force the mouth of the series' Weird Moon open, a feat that would require them lifting nearly 10,000 tons. This was also far greater than anything Venom could scale to.
  • Nervous Wreck: Crona constantly appears to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Considering what their abusive mother put them through, this is justified.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Ragnarok punching Crona most likely provoked Venom's interest, since he took this to mean that Ragnarok was an evil entity he could consume with impunity. That said, Ragnarok and Crona still win.
  • No Range Like Point-Blank Range: After impaling Venom, Crona and Ragnarok vaporize him with a Scream Resonance at point-blank range.
  • Off with His Head!: Crona almost suffers this, courtesy of Venom but manages to harden their blood quick enough for them to only bleed a little Black Blood from the attack.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Crona is surprisingly calm and enraged when delivering their Pre-Mortem One-Liner to Venom.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Ragnarok briefly unleashes such a barrage on Venom during the fight.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Ragnarok is very loud, abrasive, and brazen; Crona is very meek and tortured.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Crona has pink hair and is unbelievably shy and nervous. That said, they can hold their own, as Venom finds out.
  • Slasher Smile: The battle ends with Crona sporting a nightmarish grin.
  • Soul Eating: To increase its power, Ragnarok eats the souls of people, mostly those killed by it and Crona. At the end of the battle Ragnarok eats the souls of both Eddie and the Venom symbiote.
  • Super-Scream: In the preview, Ragnarok is shown forming a mouth on his Black Sword form and using his Scream Resonance attack on Venom. It's one of Crona's major advantages on Venom, as even with Venom's built-up resistance to sonic attacks, Crona's best Scream Resonance feat surpasses the strongest sonic attack the symbiote barely survived by a factor of nearly 1000x.
  • Super-Speed: By the end of the manga, Crona could keep pace with Black Star, who is fast enough to dodge lasers and cross 20 kilometers in six microseconds, which would put their speed at nearly Mach 9000. This was much faster than even Venom's best scalable speed feat.
  • Super-Strength: Crona forced the mouth of the series' Weird Moon open, which required lifting over 10,000 tons.
  • Sword Beam: Crona can use Scream Resonance in conjecture with Ragnarok to fire purple-black waves of sonic soul energy called "Screech [X]" at their targets. Crona uses Screech Gamma midway into the fight and Screech Delta near the end.
  • The Symbiote: Crona was forcibly bonded to the Demon Weapon Ragnarok, who Medusa melted into Black Blood and injected into them. They're also bonded to the Black Clown, a powerful monster created by Medusa using the Black Blood.
  • Tranquil Fury: Crona's Pre-Mortem One-Liner absolutely drips with quiet yet indescribable anger and hostility. Considering how timid they normally are, it's a disturbing change.
    Crona: I hate you.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Crona and Ragnarok aren't as versatile as Eddie and Venom, but Crona exceeds Brock in sheer power. Unfortunately for Venom and Brock, Crona and Ragnarok exceed them by such a margin, on top of them being able to exploit Venom's Kryptonite Factor, that Venom still lost.
  • Was Once a Man: Ragnarok was originally a human capable of turning into a Living Weapon before Medusa melted him down into Black Blood and injected him into Crona.
  • Weapon Wields You: Ragnarok can move Crona's body like a puppet.

    Sabrewulf VS Jon Talbain
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Both are werewolves that can use a bit of magic in addition to their teeth, claws, and animalistic instincts.
  • Wolf Man: Both are bloodthirsty, ferocious fighting game werewolves who struggle with the physical and mental turmoils of their lycanthropy.

Konrad von Sabrewulf

Sabrewulf: "For...give me..."
Voiced by: Chris Guerrero

The Savage Wolfman of Killer Instinct

  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: With his claws, he can easily tear through solid steel.
  • Actually Not a Vampire: Obviously he's not, but Boomstick thinks so since he displays stereotypical vampiric traits, such as owning a "spooky castle", getting his powers from a mysterious artifact, having "von" in his name, and being able to summon bat-like projectiles.
  • An Arm and a Leg: On the receiving end as Jon rips one of his arms off.
  • Ax-Crazy: As a werewolf, he loses almost all of his human mind; most of what remains is a burning drive to kill anything he comes across. That being said, it's not entirely his fault, given by how horrified he is at the killing spree he's (unwillingly) in the process of committing at the beginning of the fight. This plays against Sabrewulf in the long run, as lack of control over his werewolf form in addition to having no formal combat training resulted in an uphill battle against Talbain, who had both in spades.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: After a long and brutal fight, Sabrewulf is killed by being graphically torn apart by a full red blood moon-empowered Talbain. The flesh on his arms and legs are burned off by an enormous Dragon Cannon to start with, before he's then disemboweled, has an arm clawed off — at which point he tries to crawl away while mortally wounded, only to be forcibly dragged back — and eventually dies from his head being torn off from behind in Talbain's jaws and spat out.
  • Cyborg: Part of Ultratech's attempts to give him a "cure" ended up giving him cybernetic implants in his arms, though he would tear them out himself when he finally got wise to their manipulations and left.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: His first move of the fight is to throw a corpse at Jon Talbain. He repurposes another corpse as a shield against Talbain's Dragon Cannon.
  • Off with His Head!: On the receiving end, as Jon defeats Sabrewulf by ripping his head off with his fangs.
  • Oh, Crap!: Once blood moon-enraged Jon swipes off his arm, and he starts getting overpowered.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: This one was created by getting scratched by a werewolf hand, not bitten, as is normally the case, and can spread his curse by scratching others. He can also summon flaming bats for some reason.
  • Playing with Fire: He can summon flaming bats.
  • Prophetic Names: His last name was Sabrewulf before he became a werewolf. Boomstick lampshades this.
  • Reluctant Psycho: Before the fight, Sabrewulf is seen tearing into a bunch of freshly killed victims and is none too happy about it, begging forgiveness from Jon. Unfortunately for him, Jon doesn't take kindly to him committing a massacre. The "reluctant" part is thrown away as the fight rages on, considering that when Sabrewulf does take a bite out of Talbain, he very much enjoys it:
    Sabrewulf: Say, you taste... enticing...!
  • Stronger with Age: According to ARIA, werewolves in the Killer Instinct universe only get more vicious and skilled with age while any loss in strength and speed are negligible. Unfortunately for Sabrewulf, he was Years Too Early to hope to match Jon.
  • Super-Reflexes: Sabrewulf is fast enough to react within a nanosecond through scaling with his feat of defeating Glacius in their rematch, who was able to catch the A.I. ARIA off-guard. Unfortunately for him, Jon even lowballed could move even faster than that.
  • Super-Strength: He's strong enough to tear through solid steel.
  • Super-Toughness: He can tank meteors to the face that hit with force equal to over 1.6 kilotons of TNT. While impressive, this is nowhere close to what Jon can dish out with his ki.
  • Trauma Conga Line: He got himself accidentally inflicted with lycanthropy, started uncontrollably transforming and hunting victims down to kill, became hopelessly addicted to opiates for a time in his personal quest for a cure, and then joined up with Ultratech as an enforcer in hopes they could give him a cure, only to end up getting cybernetic implants and stuck in his werewolf form indefinitely for his troubles while still naively believing they'll cure him eventually when all they wanted out of him is a tool. Even Boomstick is amazed at just how badly Sabrewulf's life sucks.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: As a werewolf, Sabrewulf possesses immense strength but completely loses any sense of reason he had as a human. This factors into his defeat as not only is Jon much stronger than him, Jon's keen and disciplined mind gave him a much greater level of precision and control as a werewolf than Sabrewulf.
  • The Von Trope Family: His full name is Baron Konrad von Sabrewulf.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: The only clothes he wears are tattered green trousers.
  • Wall Jump: He does this to reach Jon after a lantern falls and lights the floor on fire.

Jon Talbain

Jon: "Existance with humans is impossible. That is why we are called 'Darkstalkers'."
Voiced by: Brendan Blaber

The Kung-Fu Canine Darkstalker

  • Ascended Extra: Jon first appeared in DBX, where he fought Terry Bogard and won. Here, he enters Death Battle proper, and brings home a triumph to the Darkstalkers franchise.
  • Ax-Crazy: Under the full blood red moon, Jon runs the risk of becoming a ravenous beast. He's disciplined enough to keep it in check while also knowing when to let the beast within run free, as his Pre-Mortem One-Liner shows:
Talbain: I'm no monster, but tonight... I'll make an exception.
  • Big "NO!": Lets out several near the end of the fight when he realizes that being under a blood-red full moon is going to drive him mad.
  • Determinator: Not even having his intestines ripped out and choked with them like a rope is enough to put Jon down once he goes all-out.
  • Dub Name Change: His name in Japan (Gallon) is acknowledged at the start of his analysis, and at the end for Boomstick's pun.
  • Enemy Within: Fought the manifestation of his own inner beast, Dark Talbain. When on the receiving end of a combo from Sabrewulf while the red full moon is shining down on both of them, Jon alludes to his dark side by saying "...not like this!", either trying to keep himself in check or noting how Sabrewulf's own bestial behavior brings to mind Dark Talbain's own.
  • Gutted Like a Fish: On the receiving end when Sabrewulf punches through him and rips his intestines out to strangle him with. He survives.
  • Heroic Second Wind: While being strangled with his own intestines, he immolates himself and Sabrewulf with a Dragon Cannon as a last-ditch attempt to break free. He survives, while Sabrewulf is burnt enough to be vulnerable for Talbain's killing blow.
  • Ki Manipulation: His manifests in the form of his Beast Cannon, where he glows and darts around.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He is proven to be much stronger and faster than Sabrewulf.
  • Love Redeems: Downplayed, as he was never a villain and more of an Anti-Hero, but Jon struggled with his werewolf side and his feelings on humans for a long time even after his training to control his inner beast until he struck up a friendship with fellow Darkstalker Felicia, who taught him otherwise and even helped him fight and take control of his inner beast, though Boomstick (and the internet) believe their "relationship" goes a lot further than Just Friends.
  • Off with His Head!: On the giving end, as Jon uses his fangs to tear Sabrewulf's head off.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Jon Talbain's family, the Cruz, are all werewolves that transform under the light of the moon. And Jon is actually of descent from a demon dragon through his father.
  • Parental Abandonment: His mother was murdered by the demon lord Jedah Dohma, and his father Baraba was a deadbeat, as Boomstick himself puts it.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: He's of the same weight class as fellow Darkstalker Anakaris, who could sink all of Ancient Egypt below the ground. This feat would require enough ki to move 1.2 trillion tons. Either scaling to that or Q-Bee lifting a giant beehive still puts Talbain comfortably above anything Sabrewulf can dish out or take.
  • Playing with Fire: With Dragon Cannon, he can summon a giant flaming dragon.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Jon wears purple trousers, and he ultimately proves to be Sabrewulf's superior.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Jon ends the fight howling over the mutilated corpse of Sabrewulf... with his intestines hanging out in the open.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: When the blood moon emerges and his bestial side takes over. Ultimately, letting go of his control at the right moment leads to a mauling that ends with Jon biting Sabrewulf's head off.
  • Sanity Has Advantages: One major factor in his victory was that he was able to keep his bestial side in check, using it rather than letting it use him. In contrast, Sabrewulf never found a way to control his savagery.
  • Speed Echoes: Jon can move fast enough that he leaves afterimages of himself. Weaponized with his Mirage Body ES attack.
  • Strong and Skilled: As a B+ class Darkstalker, Jon possesses immense strength that should be comparable to other Darkstalkers of his class and has spent decades training with martial arts to control his instincts. This gave him a major advantage over Sabrewulf as not only was Talbain much stronger than Sabrewulf, he also had the advantage of having a controlled mind as opposed to the feral Sabrewulf.
  • Super-Speed: Can dodge bullets and boasts that he is as fast as light. He's actually even faster than that as higher ranked Darkstalkers Demitri and Morrigan can intercept Huitzil robots, who are capable of flying across the galaxy in short periods of time, and Jon is capable of keeping up with them. This meant he was much faster than Sabrewulf or anyone he could reliably be scaled to, even by Wiz's own admittance they only judged Jon as being "half" of Morrigan's speed.
  • Super-Strength: Can scale to Q-Bee who lifted a giant beehive estimated to weigh over 30 million tons. This puts his strength far beyond Sabrewulf's.
  • Technical Pacifist: Wiz and Boomstick theorize that his style of martial arts is based on Shotokan karate, a martial art based on lack of unnecessary violence. Boomstick points out that a lot of Jon's attacks seem flashy and appear to cause a ton of pain. "Rejection of unnecessary violence, my ass!"
  • This Is Unforgivable!: His response to Sabrewulf's mass butchering at the start of the battle.
Talbain: I have no forgiveness left, monster.
  • Warrior Prince: Thanks to his father being werewolf nobility.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: At the end of the fight, Sabrewulf tries to feebly crawl away from his opponent, but Jon drags him back to deliver the killing blow.

    Red VS Blue
  • Composite Character: A chronological case of this applies to Grif and Tucker as even though they got the Great Key and Grif Shot much later in the series and Tucker wouldn't get his Freelancer training from Agent Washington until even later, they would have access to all of this despite being portrayed as themselves from Season 1.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: As Boomstick states at the beginning, this episode depicts what would happen if everyone took the war as seriously as Sarge did.

Red Team

Sarge: "I'm not ordering you to go. I ain't even askin'. You do, what you gotta do Private Grif."
Grif: [sighs] "I'll go get my car keys."
Sarge: "Alright, then! Let's move!"
Reds voiced by: Matt Hullum (Sarge), Geoff Ramsey (Grif), Gus Sorola (Simmons), Dan Godwin (Donut), and Burnie Burns (Lopez)

Even Though Most of Them Don't Actually Wear Red

  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Sarge is the leader of the Red Team and is easily their best fighter. However, he fails to measure up to Tex.
  • Badass Boast: When Lopez duels Tucker, he says this:
Lopez: [translated] Idiot. You don't stand a chance against me. For I am Lopez the Heavy.
  • Big "NO!": Grif says this when Simmons dies in front of him.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Donut is the second casualty of Caboose's ricocheting sniper bullet.
  • Characterization Marches On: Wiz notes that nobody really brings up Simmons being a Cyborg anymore.
  • Deep South: Sarge speaks with a southern US accent, another of the numerous reasons why he's implied to be Boomstick's father.
  • Defiant to the End: Grif makes a suicidal charge at Tex to keep her from killing Sarge.
  • Disappeared Dad: The implication that Sarge is Boomstick's father gets brought up again, with Boomstick calling him a guy you could have a game of catch with, much to Wiz's discomfort.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Sarge's last words are something to this effect.
Sarge: Well, should've seen that coming.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Sarge, unlike his teammates, dies this way due to a grenade Tucker threw into the teleporter at the start of the fight being spat out at his feet and exploding.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Sarge is as much of a hardass as his name implies.
  • Fantastic Racism: Sarge and his immense hatred of the Blue team. Or anything blue. Boomstick thinks he probably was born hating blue.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Lopez's only mode of communication, thanks to nobody remembering to change his language setting.
  • Groin Attack: Grif has had the poor fortune of receiving a whole bunch of ball-busters over the years. Tex gives him two more during the fight.
  • Instant Costume Change: Simmons is noted to be insanely quick at changing his clothes, taking off his armor, and putting on a new set on in four seconds, a feat that makes him blisteringly fast even by Spartan standards.
  • I Shall Taunt You: To cement Church's abysmal aim, Donut proceeds to dance as Church continues missing before throwing a grenade.
  • Losing Your Head: Lopez is decapitated by Tucker via his Energy Sword. Given that he's survived as just a head before, this doesn't kill him, but it eliminates him from the fight.
  • Made of Iron: Donut was once shot through the chest, left in his locked-up armor to bleed out on the ground for over an entire year, and just got better.
  • Neck Snap: Grif dies this way, courtesy of Tex.
  • Non-Indicative Name: As Boomstick points out, most of the Red Team doesn't actually wear red.
  • Precision F-Strike: Lopez lets one out just before he's decapitated.
    "Mierda! (F**k!)"
  • Robot Soldier: Lopez is a combat android.
  • Sitcom Archnemesis: Nobody embraces the pointless conflict in Blood Gulch with more enthusiasm than Sarge, who wants nothing more than to make swiss cheese out of the Blues.
  • The Slacker: Grif is the resident layabout and Boomstick's favorite member of the team.
  • The Smart Guy: Wiz specifically calls Simmons out as a "brilliant geek" and immediately compares himself to him.
  • Super-Strength: Donut has a really impressive throwing arm, once tossing a grenade halfway across a canyon. Wiz calculated the distance as over 1500 feet long. However, he doesn't compare to how strong Tex and Caboose are.
  • Super-Speed: Simmons is theorized to be 90 times faster than the normal SPARTAN soldier, seeing as he can change his armor in mere seconds, a feat that usually takes minutes just to suit up for a normal SPARTAN. While this gives the Reds the speed advantage, it's not enough to overcome the Blues' many other advantages.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Simmons is the first casualty of the fight when Sheila blows up the Reds' Warthog. Later, Sarge is killed by the grenade Tucker threw into the teleporter at the beginning of the fight.
  • Team Killer: Attempted by Lopez when he aims for Sarge with his battle rifle twice while Sarge is busy fighting Tex. Grif catches him in the act on his first attempt and bats him aside with his Grif Shot. The second time (shown much more clearly with him moving the reticle away from Tex to Sarge) is interrupted by Tucker.
  • Undignified Death:
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Grif saves Sarge from Tex during the fight, tackling her when she was about to kill him. Sarge doesn't thank Grif at all and when Tex kills Grif shortly afterwards via Neck Snap, he just comments "'bout time."
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Lopez's fate after getting (non-lethally) decapitated isn't addressed, he just disappears after giving a warning to Sarge about Tex.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Sarge used to be part of the ODST, but was discharged because he developed a fear of heights.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Sarge tells Tex, "I wouldn't hit a lady. Good thing you're no lady!" when he's attacking her.

Blue Team

Church: "Sheila, shut 'em up."
[Sheila fires towards the Red Team]
Simmons: "Son of a bitch!"
Blues voiced by: Burnie Burns (Church), Jason Saldaña (Tucker), and Michael Malconian (Caboose)

Their Perpetual Ocean Colored Rivals

  • Artificial Intelligence: Church is actually an experimental AI made by Project Freelancer. Tex is also an AI who was split from the Alpha AI.
  • Badass Normal: Tucker isn't a super-powered Freelancer but he's typically depicted as the most competent soldier between the Reds and Blues. The hosts note that he can easily pick up the slack that would result from Tex's programming setting her up to fail.
  • Big "NO!": Church lets one out when Caboose kills Tex.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Church, Tucker, and Tex all die this way, from the same bullet.
  • Boring, but Practical: Boomstick notes that the weapons Blue Team typically carries (barring Tucker's Great Key) aren't particularly impressive, being various rifles, compared to Red Team's shotguns, rocket launchers, and an alien Grenade Launcher/BFS but they still use them effectively and they don't really need much with someone like Agent Texas on their side.
  • Broken Ace: Tex is easily the most badass of the Blue Team. Hell, she's the most badass fighter involved in this Death Battle. She's also literally programmed to fail, which mostly manifests through her personality.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Tucker. Wiz scientifically proved that he's got almost no game despite his insistence otherwise.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Tucker might be more concerned with picking up chicks despite constantly failing at it, but he's also a One-Man Army who successfully held off a company of mercenaries. During the fight itself, Tucker fights Lopez one-on-one and wins. This is a factor in the Blues' victory, as the team collectively has more training and experience than the Reds.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Considering that the AIs can only be defeated through very specific ways (EMP's or capture units) Church and Tex are locked in their physical bodies for the fight. Not that it did the Red team any favors.
  • Dumb Muscle: Caboose's strength is inversely proportional to his intelligence. And he's very strong. Boomstick refers to it as "God's way of compensating".
  • Failure Is the Only Option: Because Tex is based on the death of the Freelancer director's wife, she's literally programmed to fail. While this doesn't mean she can never win or other people can't succeed with her, it's a mental block that more or less affects everything she does. Luckily, the others were more than capable of picking up the slack for her.
  • Gone Horribly Right: After Church misses multiple shots on a mostly stationary Donut, Caboose decides to take a shot. He succeeds in killing Donut... as well as the entire rest of his team.
  • Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: Church has incredibly poor aim and could not land a single shot on Donut, resulting in him throwing his rifle on the ground in frustration.
  • Irony: Despite Church constantly feeling like he's Surrounded by Idiots, the hosts note in the Blue team's analysis that he's probably the most incompetent soldier on both teams.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: Church's last words end up being this:
    Church: Son of a bi-
  • Laser Blade: Tucker's signature weapon is an energy sword that only works for him. During the fight, he uses it to take out Lopez.
  • The Load: Church, thanks to his lack of combat experience and faulty aim, is the least effective fighter on the Blue team. In the post-match observation, he's noticeably the only member of the team that doesn't have any positives mentioned. In the fight itself, he's the only member of the team to not score any kills on the Reds... or land any hits at all. Not that the rest of the Blues needed him to win.
  • Oh, Crap!: Church's response to Caboose picking up the sniper rifle — resulting in a One-Hit Polykill that wipes out most of the Blue Team.
    Church: Caboose, NO!
  • One-Hit Polykill: Caboose fires a sniper rifle shot that, through a long series of ricochets, kills Tex, Donut, Tucker, and then finally Church.
  • One-Man Army: Tex, who's more than capable of demolishing half the Reds (and Tucker) at once. The only reason she can't single-handedly end the fight on her own is due to her programming.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: The Blue team wins... by virtue of Caboose being the only survivor on either team. Even if you consider that Church and Tex were both AIs that would simply be ejected from their bodies on death in their home series, and that Sheila could be rebuilt, Tucker's death is permanent.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Tex was based off the AI director's late wife Allison.
  • Sapient Tank: Sheila's a living tank. It's pointed out that a tank is much better than a Warthog.
  • Shoryuken: The hosts note that Tucker once did this to a cyclops as a Groin Attack.
  • Sole Survivor: By the end of the fight, only Caboose is left alive.
  • Strong and Skilled: The big reason for the Blue Team's victory is that with Tex, Caboose, and Sheila, they have enough muscle and firepower to overpower the Reds, while the intense Freelancer training from Tex and Tucker made sure they could out-think them as well.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Sheila is blown up by a plasma grenade thrown by Donut. Just like in the Season 1 finale. Unlike Tex in that season, however, Caboose is quick enough to eject before the grenade blows.
  • Super-Strength: Tex is incredibly strong, once catching a shipping crate as it was falling down on her and flipping over Sheila the living tank on another occasion. Caboose, meanwhile, is capable of lifting up Andy the Bomb, something not even Tex could do. The hosts note that this makes them far stronger than anyone on the Red team.
  • Team Killer: Caboose to a T, in the fight he ends up killing all of his teammates when he gets his hands on a sniper rifle.
  • Undignified Death: Tex, Tucker, and Church are all killed by Caboose's missed sniper round. This especially applies to Tex and Tucker as they're deemed to be the two most competent members of Blue Team and a major reason why they would triumph over Red Team.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
    • Caboose leaving the flag out is what starts the fight.
    • Church leaving his sniper rifle unguarded around Caboose gets him, Tucker and Tex killed.
  • The Voiceless: Neither Tex nor Sheila speak throughout the fight.
  • Why Am I Ticking?: Church and his team once survived a 50 megaton bomb that was inside of Church's own body. Since the Reds also survived that same bomb, it's not a factor in the overall outcome.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Church doesn't think he's an AI, he thinks he's a ghost.
  • You Are in Command Now: Church is the leader of the Blues, but only because the last one died of an allergic reaction.

    Batgirl VS Spider-Gwen
  • The Commissioner Gordon: Their respective fathers, James Gordon and George Stacy, are high ranking members of the police and are typically allies to their vigilantism and their superhero families.
  • Distaff Counterpart: Both are younger female counterparts to Batman and Spider-Man respectively. Criticized In-Universe by Boomstick when he brings up that her alias is clearly derivative of Batman's while Robin's isn't, as if women have to be defined by the men in their life.

Batgirl I (Barbara Gordon)

Livewire: "Aren't you a little out of your league?"
Batgirl: "Try me."
Voiced by: Shara Kirby

DC Comics' Vigilante Known as Batgirl

  • Badass Normal: Like most others in the Bat-Family, Barbara is a skilled martial artist. Her greatest asset to the team, though, is her tech-savviness.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In the fight preview, Batgirl is seen posting a comment on "She-Ra vs. Wonder Woman" about wanting to see "Hulk vs. Broly". A few days prior a YouTuber named "Barbara Gordon" actually posted the comment, to which another viewer named "Gwen Stacy" called the former stupid and to do "Asura vs. Broly" instead.
  • Combat Pragmatist: She hides in the shadows and throws three Batarangs at Gwen when she arrives in the Batcave. Too bad Gwen's Spider-Sense lets her dodge the Batarangs.
  • Defiant to the End: Even after being injured enough that she has to force her neural implants to continue working, and having her Utility Belt disabled, Barbara continues to attack Spider-Gwen, growling that "You...haven't won yet!"
  • Disproportionate Retribution: When Gwen appears in the Batcave, Barbara instantly attacks her, despite clearly overhearing her mention it being a teleporter fluke. When Gwen attempts to leave after acknowledging she's not wanted, Barbara instead pulls her back and tries to kill her.
  • Fiery Redhead: Barbara has long red hair that protrudes from the back of her cowl, and she instigates the fight by attacking Gwen as soon as the Spider-Woman emerges into the Batcave. She also continues to pursue her target no matter how badly the fight goes for her, at one point getting hit by a boulder and getting up on her feet a few seconds later.
  • Gadgeteer Genius; She wields a wide assortment of weapons and tools, many of which she designed herself. While her tools did give her a large number of ways to counter many of Gwen's abilities, it wasn't enough to secure a victory.
  • Genius Bruiser: Not only is she an incredibly skilled fighter, but she is also a computer genius and has designed several of her own gadgets.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: After distracting Gwen with a thrown gavel, Barbara fires a grappling hook at her. Sadly, Gwen's Spider-Sense enables her to dodge both gavel and hook, and then she grabs the grappling rope and uses it to reel Barbara in and slice her throat.
  • Jumped at the Call: She had created the Batgirl costume to surprise her father, Commissioner James Gordon, at a police costume ball, only to have Killer Moth drop in and she ended up saving the day. This inspired her to become a vigilante full-time.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Gwen has only spent a few minutes in the Batcave at the start of the battle, and she's not done anything to prove herself untrustworthy. Barbara still attacks her anyway.
  • Never a Self-Made Woman: Discussed by Boomstick. He complains about Barbara having a bat-themed codename like Batman when Dick Grayson got the independent codename of Robin. "Her individuality and identity shouldn't be anchored to the patriarchal idea that women are publicly defined by the men in their life".
  • Nightmare Face: After being slashed through the throat by Spider-Gwen, Batgirl makes a particularly horrifying one — complete with her eyes glazing over and teeth bared in an agonized grimace as dark blood spurts from her neck — before slamming into the ground and dying.
  • Powered Armor: Though a very low-key version, Barbara's bat-costume is outfitted with basically militaristic and spy gear with a great impact protection. In comparison, Batman's suit allowed him to survive a multi-block, multi-story explosion.
  • Slashed Throat: Gwen kills her by yanking Barbara toward her with her own grapple gun, growing claws from her fingers, and then slashing her through her neck arteries as she passes by.
  • Throwing Off the Disability: After spending years as the wheelchair-bound Oracle, Barbara obtained a special neural interface that allowed her to walk once more, though the chips are easily subject to electrical shock and hacking. This is what does Barbara in as a well-placed rock damages her chip just enough to take the fight out of her.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: Attacking Gwen unprovoked eventually costs Barbara her life.
  • Weak, but Skilled: While not as strong as Gwen, she has years of expert martial arts training and is adept at using a wide assortment of weapons and gadgets. The hosts note that while this did give her the means to take Gwen out, Gwen's superior strength and other abilities meant that the chances of her actually being able to land the killing blow were slim.

Marvel's Gwen Stacy, The One You Know as Spider-Gwen

  • Bond One-Liner: "Ah, now I have." Said in response to Barbara's Defiant to the End moment, after cutting her throat.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: She's both the first Spider-hero to win since Peter Parker all the way back in Season ONE and the first Spider-Man franchise character to win since Venom defeated Bane back in Season Four.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: On Earth-65, Gwen Stacy was the one who was bitten by a radioactive spider, not Peter Parker. Gwen didn't take her superpowers and heroics seriously until Peter, driven to the Despair Event Horizon, became the Lizard in order to stop his bullying and ended up succumbing to the experiment's side effects. Thanks to J. Jonah Jameson, Spider-Gwen became a fugitive and she was forced to take up the mantle of a hero.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Her attitude towards Barbara's abrasiveness.
  • Dimensional Traveler: Gwen hails from Earth-65 and can easily hop between it and Earth-616, where she attends school without worry of her secret identity getting out. This is how Gwen ends up in the Batcave.
  • Discard and Draw: After losing her powers to an evil version of Cindy Moon, she initially used special isotopes that temporarily restored her powers. She gave that up and found herself obtaining her world's version of the Venom symbiote.
  • I Am Not Shazam: invoked As Wiz and Boomstick points out, her official codename is "Spider-Woman", but the "Spider-Gwen" moniker is more well-known to fans. However, Boomstick forgets this point later on in her description.
  • I Have Many Names: On Earth-65, her heroic identity was originally "Spider-Woman" and she was dubbed "Spider-Gwen" by the media after revealing her identity. After deciding to attend university in Earth-616, she changed her codename to "Ghost-Spider".
  • I Let Gwen Stacy Die: Inverted, in her world, Gwen got bitten by the spider, and Peter Parker died instead. So his death is what drove her to be a selfless superhero.
  • In the Hood: Gwen's outfit includes a white hood to go with her white Spider mask.
  • Spider-Sense: Like most other Spiders, Gwen has the famed Spider-Sense, which warns her of danger. When she first arrives in the Bat Cave, it alerts her to three of Batgirls Batarangs. This is a major factor in her victory as it allowed her to keep up with Batgirl's skills and see most of her attacks coming.
  • Super-Toughness: Even without the Venom symbiote, Spider-Gwen is incredibly durable, scaled up to Peter himself, who survived being caught in the Daily Bugle blowing up.
  • The Symbiote: After permanently losing her original powers, she bonded with her universe's version of the Venom symbiote to regain them. While not as strong and versatile as the Earth-616 Venom symbiote, it does give her limited shapeshifting abilities. She uses it turn invisible during the fight and grow claws to finish off Batgirl.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: In the battle proper, she ends up snagging one of Batgirl's explosive Batarangs and groans "I shouldn't have done that..." before it detonates in her hand.
  • Teleportation Misfire: She arrived in the Batcave while attempting to teleport to Miles Morales.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Compared to Batgirl, Gwen is much stronger than her but lacks the years of training and wide assortment of weapons Barbara has. This gave her the win as not only is Gwen much stronger and tougher than Batgirl, but she has been able to keep up with opponents of Batgirl's skill level before with her Spider-Sense.

    Sanji VS Rock Lee
  • Badass Normal: Well, as much as these two can be considered "normal" but still in their respective worlds, Sanji lacks Devil Fruit powers or his family's genetic alterations and goes into battle with just his two feet while Rock Lee relies purely on taijutsu since he can't use any other jutsus.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Both combatants are masters of unarmed combat but only Rock Lee uses both his fists and feet in combat while Sanji relies solely on just their legs.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Their inhuman strength, speed, agility and durability are the result of intense and rigorous training, and sheer grit and determination.
  • Pirates Vs Ninjas: A battle to the death between a Straw Hat Pirate and a Konohagakure Ninja from two of the most noteworthy shounen anime.
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: Both Sanji and Lee are masters of fighting styles that grant superpowers.

Vinsmoke Sanji

Sanji: "I was looking... for a light. 'preciate it."
Voiced by: Yong Yea

The Sous-Chef of the Straw Hat Pirates Searching for the One Piece

  • An Arm and a Leg: Towards the end of the fight Lee uses the Eighth Gate to blow off one of his legs. Doesn't stop him from using his remaining leg to kick Lee in half.
  • Angry Chef: In the animation, Sanji flies into a rage when Rock Lee complains that his curry is too mild, precipitating the fight.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Sanji cooks for Lee in a formal-looking suit, and keeps it on until he puts on his raid suit for the last minute of the fight.
  • Berserk Button: Due to his past experience of starving to near-death on an island, one of the things that Sanji hates above all else is the idea of others wasting their food. Lee presses this button at the beginning of the fight, leading Sanji to attack and eventually kill him.
  • Bond One-Liner: "Looks like mild suited you best. My dish was too spicy for you."
  • Chef of Iron: An excellent cook and an extremely skilled and powerful fighter.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Sanji was the third of five children by the mad ruler of the Kingdom of Germa, Judge Vinsmoke. He forced his wife to undergo surgery to create emotionless Super Soldiers, but she drank a potion that she hoped to make someone sane, leading to Sanji's birth. He was bullied by his sociopathic siblings, though he tried to make his mother happy with his (less-than-stellar) cooking until she died and he was locked in a dungeon. He soon escaped and, with the help of his less-psychopathic sister, ended up on a ship and became a cook... until his ship crashed and he was marooned with the pirate Red-Leg Zeff, who took him in after they were rescued and trained him in Black Leg style combat.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Even acknowledging his own past traumas, Sanji still ended up attacking, and eventually murdering Rock Lee in cold blood for the crime of wanting his curry to be spicier. Granted, by the time Sanji murdered Lee, the ninja was clearly also aiming to kill, and punched off his left leg.
  • Extremity Extremist: As a chef, Sanji believes that his hands are sacred and not meant for combat, so his fighting style is based entirely around kicking. Being as Lee blew off one of his legs during the battle, his specialization likely saved his career as a chef.
  • Fragile Speedster: In comparison to Lee when using the Eighth Gate, Sanji possesses less physical strength and durability but is much faster. This factors into his victory as he could reliably evade Lee's attacks until the latter succumbed to the effects of the Eighth Gate or land the killing blow himself.
  • Handicapped Badass: Sanji loses his left leg to Lee's punches, but like his adoptive father Zeff, he doesn't let it slow him down. And then he kicks Lee clean in half.
  • Henshin Hero: Received a raid suit from his family which greatly increases his strength, speed, and durability as well as granting flight and invisibility.
  • Honor Before Reason: Sanji exclusively uses his feet in fights and never resorts to using his hands, not because he is incapable of doing so but because he believes as a chef his hands have no place in a fight and must be kept in pristine condition for cooking. He refuses to break this self-restriction even if his own life is in danger.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Sanji outclasses Lee using 7 of the 8 gates in terms of strength, speed, and durability. And even with Eighth Gate Lee being much stronger than him, he would still be unlikely to land a fatal hit on Sanji before he died from the effects of using the Eighth Gate or Sanji would land a killing blow of his own.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Unfortunately for Sanji, he ends up like his adoptive father Zeff: missing a leg. He's still better off than Lee, though.
  • Magic Plastic Surgery: One of his techniques, Parage Shot, is a series of targeted kicks to the enemy's face, which ends up completely reconstructing their looks. Lee ends up being a temporary victim of this, and his face ends up looking like Handsome Squidward for a brief moment.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: He barely reacts at all to his left leg being completely destroyed in his clash with Eighth Gate Lee; and even after killing his opponent, simply drops to his remaining leg and draws a cigarette as Lee crumbles to ashes behind him.
  • Not Quite Flight: His Sky Walk technique allows him to propel himself through the air by kicking so hard he creates dozens of miniature sonic booms beneath his feet.
  • Playing with Fire: He can use friction to set his feet on fire with his Diable Jambe technique.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Sanji has smoked since he was 9, as at the time he believed smoking made him look cool and grown-up. After finishing off his opponent, he takes the time to light up another cigarette, even while bleeding out on the ground.
  • Super-Speed: Sanji can kick fast enough that his legs catch fire from air friction and his speed is comparable to his captain, Luffy, who could dodge lasers from a Pacifista. According to the hosts the way Luffy dodged the lasers meant that he must have been moving 13 times the speed of light to do so. Since Sanji can keep up with Luffy even without using his Raid suit, that meant he could move much faster than Lee even with all his gates unlocked. This was the deciding factor, as while a high-balled Eighth Gate Lee would theoretically be stronger than him, Sanji was so fast he would be unlikely to actually hit him before either Sanji killed him or the Eighth Gate's fatal side effects did.
  • Super-Strength: Is comparable to Fujitora, who could summon meteors, the largest of which had the kinetic energy of 12 gigatons of TNT. This meant that Sanji could easily match the power of all of Lee's gates but the eighth and even then his other abilities gave him the win.
  • Values Dissonance: invoked Due to his time in the Kamabakka Kingdom, Sanji's developed a fear/hatred of crossdressers.
    Boomstick: That didn't age well.
  • Victory by Endurance: This is what cinches the match in Sanji's favor, although it's less "endurance" and more "evasion". Rock Lee's Eighth Gate makes him many times stronger than Sanji can match either in strength or durability, but Sanji's superior speed combined with his Observation Haki and the Invisibility of the Raid Suit means he's more than likely able to avoid a killing blow from even his powered-up opponent before he literally burns himself out to ashes.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: One of Sanji's defining character traits is his complete and absolute refusal to hit a woman. Luckily for Sanji, Lee isn't a woman, so he has no issue unleashing his fury on him.

Rock Lee

Might Guy/Rock Lee: "To protect and maintain one's own ninja way!"
Rock Lee: "The Third Gate! Gate of Life, open!"
Voiced by: Mark Phillips

The Hardworking Ninja Warrior from the Village of Naruto

  • All of the Other Reindeer: Rock Lee was born with a disability preventing him from using chakra and was bullied for it. While he was determined not to let that stop him, he had a problem in the form of his teammate Neji Hyūga, who was the Child Prodigy in Konoha. Thankfully, Lee found his inspiration in the form of Might Guy, who taught him taijutsu.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: His eyebrows are a prominent feature.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: His speed and strength are all from hard work and dedication to make up for being unable to use chakra.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Opening all Eight Gates makes Lee stronger than Sanji, and once he unlocks it, he's able to successfully snap off the chef's left leg. Sadly, Sanji moves fast enough to make sure he delivers the death blow instead.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: The Eight Gates greatly increases Rock Lee's speed and power at the cost of damaging his body or killing him if he opens all 8. Unfortunately Sanji was capable of matching and surpassing the first 7 gates and while the eighth gate did make him stronger than Sanji, Sanji's far greater speed meant that he was unlikely to actually be able to land a fatal blow before he expired from the 8th Gate's fatal side-effect. The hosts also note that as Lee is only theoretically capable of using it (as he's matched and exceeded his master who could), it wasn't a good argument for his victory anyway.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: After Sanji kicks him headfirst into a barrel of wine for insulting his curry, telling him to show some respect, a now-drunken Lee shouts "Res-pect?! I'm-I-I'm a paying customer! And that curry was awful!" This only enrages Sanji more.
  • Drunken Boxing: If he has even the tiniest drop of alcohol, he can use drunken boxing and fight well above his power level. And Sanji ends up kicking him headfirst into a whole barrel of booze.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Sanji finishes him off with a haki-infused kick that ends up bisecting him.
  • Large Ham: He goes on a rant about how his curry "lacks the fiery youth of true spicy curry!" before Sanji attacks him.
  • Magically Inept Fighter: Lee was born with a disability that prevents him from accessing his chakra, leaving him unable to performing the ninjutsu and genjutsu techniques other ninja are capable of. He makes up for this with incredible physical prowess and fighting skills.
  • Mighty Glacier: In comparison to Sanji, Eighth Gate Lee is much slower but far stronger and toughter. This factors into his loss as he would be unable to land a hit on Sanji before succumbing to the effects of the Eighth Gate or Sanji himself would deal a fatal hit.
  • No Body Left Behind: After Sanji cuts him in half with Anti-Manners Kick Course, Lee's torso hits the ground behind Sanji, before evaporating into ash due to the Eighth Gate.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Releasing the Eight Gates turns Lee into one, as by the Seventh Gate he's capable of launching island-destroying feats, while at the Eight Gate by scaling to Might Guy's own usage of it during the battle with Madara he should be able to unleash petatons of TNT worth of damage. Unfortunately for him, Sanji is capable of matching or even surpassing the raw power of up to the Seventh Gate, and while the Eighth Gate is many times over both Sanji's strength and durability to match in a straight fight, the fatal side-effects combined with Sanji's superior speed means it's unlikely Lee would be able to finish his opponent off before he himself expires.
  • Super-Speed: Lee is incredibly fast, especially when he starts opening his gates, and should be comparable to Naruto who dodged a lightspeed laser from Madara. However it's noted that Naruto dodged it while in Six Paths mode, a form far superior to the Eight Gates, and only barely managed to avoid it. This meant that even with all of his Gates open, Lee was unable to match Sanji's speed and as a result would most likely expire from the Eighth Gates' fatal side-effects before managing to land the decisive blows needed to win.
  • Worthy Opponent: In the fight, one of the first things Rock Lee does is say Sanji's fighting skills are as good as his cooking — though given he'd just been complaining about the latter it may have been a Stealth Insult.

    Hulk VS Broly

The Hulk (Dr. Robert Bruce Banner)

Hulk: Hulk ain't just incredible. Hulk is immortal!
Voiced by: Richard Barcenas

Marvel's Mean, Green World-Breaking Machine''

  • Abusive Parent: Bruce Banner's father was a violent, paranoid drunk of a man who frequently verbally abused the young Bruce, destroyed what he created, and regularly struck him hard enough to send him reeling; even referring to him as a "monster" when he was barely a toddler.
  • Adaptive Ability: The Hulk is able to adapt to various typically-fatal environments, such as being dismembered, burned down to the bone, and surviving the depths of space.
  • Art Evolution: His skin is a lighter shade of green and his skin is more textured and detailed than the last Death Battle he appeared in, and he wears blue denim shorts instead of his purple Magic Pants.
  • Back from the Dead: The Hulk was last seen in Season 3's Hulk vs. Doomsday, where Doomsday decapitated him after a long and violent bout. He's back again this time to fight Broly; and given what's happened since then in the comics, this bodes ill for all involved. Ultimately, though, it's Back for the Dead for Hulk, for his opponent wins yet again.
  • Badass Boast: "Hulk ain't just incredible... Hulk is immortal!"
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: His continuous demands for Broly to let loose his anger and continue fighting is what led to his demise.
  • Blood Knight: Hulk spends the fight eagerly demanding that Broly get angry and fight him. At the beginning he's disappointed in Broly's seeming weakness, but gets excited when Broly begins actually challenging him. And when their battle begins breaking planets, Hulk is ecstatic.
Hulk: YES! Show me! Break the world! BREAK EVERYTHING!
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: After reattaching his head he takes a page from the original Broly and calls himself the Devil.
  • Bring It: When Broly tells him that he's making him angry and he won't like him when he's angry, Hulk responds with a simple "Show me". He then keeps making similar demands to see more and more of Broly's power throughout the fight, which ends badly for him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The son of noted scientist Brian Banner, Bruce lived in an abusive family as Brian's paranoia lead to him regularly attacking Bruce and ultimately murdering his wife in a fit of rage. The trauma lead to Bruce developing a split personality, of a monstrous being with a child-like desire to be left alone. Bruce ultimately became a scientist himself and developed the Gamma Bomb. When he was caught in its blast, he should have died. Instead, a mysterious "Green Door" appeared, allowing Bruce's split personality to escape and giving birth to the Hulk.
Hulk: (while single-handedly demolishing an entire World War 1 battlefield) Well, if Hulk must fight — then Hulk will fight — till men learn to LEAVE HULK ALONE! That's all Hulk wants — for men to let him be!
  • Dead-Hand Shot: When he dies, his hands are shown as the last part to turn to dust.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Among Hulk's feats include facing off with multiple different Physical Gods, literal or just power-wise, and winning against many of them. Perhaps his most impressive showings are going nearly 12 hours with Umar, Dormmammu's sister and ruler of the Dark Dimension (although it wasn't quite a "fight" in the regular sense) and temporarily dispelling the smokey avatar of The One Below All, the ruler of Hell which is the source of the gamma/hell energy that gives Hulk his Resurrective Immortality.
  • From a Single Cell: The only way to truly take Hulk down for good is to completely vaporize his entire body. Otherwise, he'll eventually regenerate and probably come after you for revenge, even though some injuries might take a very long time to recover from. Unfortunately, Broly does have the power to utterly annihilate every single trace of his physical form. Even if he didn't, Wiz and Boomstick ruled that being taken out of commission for long enough that the fight is considered over would still count as a loss.
  • Gathering Steam: While the Hulk's base strength changes depending on which iteration of the Hulk is in control, his strength will constantly increase as he gets angrier, essentially meaning his strength is unlimited, though it is possible to overpower or knock him out before he reaches this point. Unfortunately for him, not only was Broly much stronger but his own seemingly limitless strength meant that he couldn't close the strength gap fast enough to overpower Broly.
  • Genius Bruiser: Some of Hulk's alternate personalities — like the Professor (Merged Hulk), Doc Green and Joe Fixit — would allow him access to an intelligence advantage. However, since the Hulks fight for control over the body, it's unlikely that Hulk could make use of that advantage. Even if he could, Hulk is not strong enough to overpower Broly.
  • Healing Factor: Hulk can regenerate from seemingly mortal wounds, such as decapitation, head-explosion, and being reduced to a skeleton. However, the latter two take so long to recover from that it would still be considered a loss, and the hosts postulate that he needs to have at least some part of his body left to regenerate from, so being completely disintegrated is enough to put him down for good.
  • Hey, You!: He calls Broly "Spiky Hair Man". Justified, because neither he nor Broly know one another's names.
  • Hulk Speak: Though he speaks more fluently than he did in the last Death Battle.
  • In a Single Bound: He can leap into orbit from the ground.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: He's positively elated as the fight wears on and Broly carries out increasingly destructive attacks against him.
  • Losing Your Head: Broly rips his head off early in the fight, though unlike his previous bout with Doomsday, it doesn't stick. Thanks to his Resurrective Immortality, the Hulk's headless body knocks Broly away, then just puts it back on.
  • Mugging the Monster: On the receiving end this time around. He goes out of his way to deliberately provoke a meditating Broly for no reason other than simple bull-headed bravado. When the fighting starts, Broly quickly closes the power gap between them and rips his head off. It evolves into Bullying a Dragon when the Hulk continues to attack and goad Broly despite this, who later proceeds to overwhelm and obliterate him so thoroughly that even his Resurrective Immortality couldn’t bring him back.
  • No-Sell: The fight begins with the Hulk getting punched in the face by Broly. He doesn't even flinch. This doesn't last long.
  • No Body Left Behind: After taking several reality-shattering headbutts from Broly, he's left fading away into dust, with his hands being the last part to vanish. It's mentioned that complete vaporization is probably the only way to permanently get rid of the Hulk, so it's a good thing Broly had the power to do that.
  • Not So Invincible After All: The Immortal Hulk is, well, immortal. He can seemingly come back to life from practically any type of mortal injury thanks to the Green Door and his extremely powerful Healing Factor. However, Broly manages to surpass this immortality by completely disintegrating his body, leaving him with nothing to regenerate from.
  • Off with His Head!: Wrathful Broly rips his head off in the middle of the fight. It only sticks for a few seconds before he just gets back up and reattaches it.
  • Planet Destroyer: Hulk is more than capable of easily destroying planets, and he and Broly destroy several planets across the galaxy during their battle.
  • Resurrective Immortality: Banner can be revived from mortal wounds thanks to the Green Door, a strange portal that opened up the day he was hit with gamma radiation. However, resurrecting can take time. Unfortunately for Hulk, there wasn't any evidence he could resurrect from absolutely nothing, like being vaporized, something Broly was more than capable of doing. Even if he could come back from that, The Maestro (an alternate timeline version of Hulk) took years to return from being reduced to a skeleton. Since the rules of Death Battle declare a victor once one combatant cannot carry on for the current battle in a timely manner, this essentially makes Broly the winner by default.
  • Sanity Has Advantages: One of his weaknesses: while theoretically the Hulk could have the intelligence edge on Broly, because the Hulks constantly fight for control, he couldn't reliably have one that was smarter than Broly on demand.
  • Smug Smiler: He has a cocky grin throughout most of the fight when he's squaring off with Broly.
  • Split Personality: Bruce Banner has multiple personality disorder, with each of his Hulk personas being a separate alter that can manifest by taking over his body. His most famous one is the childlike Savage Hulk, though he also has the crafty mafioso Joe Fixit, the vengeful Green Scar, the super-intelligent Professor Hulk and Doc Green, and sinister but protective Devil Hulk — to name a few. Unfortunately, the struggle between the multiple personalities to attain control of Hulk's body means that Hulk would be unable to have the intelligence advantage over Broly.
  • Super-Strength: He's lifted a 150 billion-ton mountain and shattered asteroids twice the size of Earth, and that's just the start. He once destroyed an entire universe with a thunderclap and matched Hyperion who could survive being crushed between two universes, and the Hulk wasn't even in his strongest form at the time. However Broly proved to be even stronger than that.
  • Super Mode: His Worldbreaker form. This form allows Hulk to destroy 120 universes based on extrapolating his feats as the Savage Hulk and the time he lasted with Umar. Unfortunately, Broly's most powerful Super Mode, Legendary Super Saiyan, can scale to Gogeta Blue, who based off Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form could already destroy the universe 3600 times over, means he can tank multiversal destruction in the million range, allowing Broly to tank the hits easily and in turn, easily destroy Hulk.
  • Super-Toughness: The Hulk is tough enough to survive attacks from universe-ending opponents, and that's without factoring in his Resurrective Immortality with the package to make him an Implacable Man. However, while Broly might have trouble dealing with it at first, it was judged he still had the tools necessary to end the Hulk.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He doesn't win the bout, but the episode makes a point of demonstrating that the already monstrously powerful Hulk has gotten much, much tougher since his last fight to the death. Case in point: Hulk vs. Doomsday had the fight end with Doomsday ripping Hulk's head off, while in Hulk vs. Broly, Broly decapitates him during the middle of the fight, with Hulk coming back like nothing ever happened.
  • Two-Faced: Has part of his face burned off by Super Saiyan Broly’s Gigantic Roar. It seems to last only a second or two before his Healing Factor kicks in and negates the damage.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Hulk is a lot more cheerful and boisterous than he was in his last Death Battle, which he spent most of enraged and stroppy.
  • Worthy Opponent: Throughout the fight, Hulk continues to egg Broly on and unleash his rage further, seemingly excited that he's found someone to fight to his absolute limit.

Broly: I’LL KILL YOU!!!

The Legendary Super Saiyan from Dragon Ball

  • Abusive Parents: Broly's father Paragus was abusive to Broly, forcing him to engage in combat despite his gentle nature and using an electric shock collar to control him.
  • Adaptive Ability: Like other Saiyans, Broly has this ability. However, due to his mutant nature Broly grows stronger not only from surviving near-death injuries, but from merely engaging in combat, with his strength growing in relation to his anger. He also is a natural in combat, able to learn at an accelerated level during a fight, which allows him to keep up with even trained fighters like Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. In the fight itself, he goes from not even flinching Hulk to being able to rip off his head in mere minutes. And by the end, he has enough power to ultimately kill him.
  • Always Someone Better: He's this to Goku, as far as raw power goes. In Dragon Ball canon, Goku needed to perform a Fusion Dance with Vegeta to become Gogeta, an entity stronger than the sum of his parts, to beat Broly at his strongest. In Death Battle, Broly manages to dispatch the Physical God-like Hulk, while Goku failed to defeat the Physical God-like Superman, thrice.
  • Anime Hair: Like fellow Saiyans Goku and Vegeta, Broly has dense, black, spiky hair. Hulk appropriately nicknames him "Spiky Hair Man".
  • Ascended Extra: Zig-zagged. He — or at least, his evil DBZ incarnation — was last seen in DBX fighting against Doomsday, and this fight has him in his canon Dragon Ball Super incarnation.
  • Barrier Warrior: His forcefield. It increases his already-impressive defences. The hosts indicate that this is an advantage Broly has over Hulk.
  • Beam Spam: His Blaster Meteor attack shoots energy blasts everywhere.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Broly ends up using Bruce Banner's famous catchphrase "You're making me angry. You won't like me when I'm angry." against the Hulk. Hulk later returns the favor by borrowing Broly's "No, The Devil." badass boast.
  • Breath Weapon: His "Gigantic Roar" attack is a powerful beam of ki fired from his mouth, or as Boomstick describes it "barfing up lasers".
  • Clothing Damage: Broly loses his armored top in the last part of the battle.
  • Composite Character: Downplayed. While the canon version of Broly from Dragon Ball Super: Broly serves as the primary source of info and is the version that will appear in the fight, feats and abilities of both the original Broly and Broly's Distaff Counterpart from Universe 6, Kale, will be included. This is because the two Brolys aren't different enough overall to warrant counting them as separate characters and Kale and Broly's Legendary Super Saiyan forms are the same transformation.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Was exiled to a harsh and desolate planet as an infant. His father then tried to raise him to be a killing machine.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The reason for Broly's insane, murderous rage? Goku cried too much when he was a baby. Thankfully, Wiz points out that this backstory got Retconned to a more serious one in his Dragon Ball Super movie.
  • Family of Choice: Broly eventually finds the loving family that his father Paragus couldn't give him in his friends Cheelai and Lemo, and a supportive mentor/rival in Goku.
  • Flight: Broly can use his ki to fly at high speeds. This is an advantage Broly has over Hulk, as it allows him to control the pacing of the battle.
  • Friend to All Living Things: He's meditating at the start of the fight when two young stags approach him. He reaches over to pet one, but the Hulk then lands behind him and scares them away. They reappear after Broly finally kills Hulk, and one of whom licks his cheek.
  • Gathering Steam: Like his opponent, Broly's strength increases as he get angrier seemingly without limit, but taking too much damage can snap him out of his rage and even force him back into weaker forms. Broly's far greater base strength meant that he could overpower the Hulk before that happened though.
  • Gentle Giant: Broly is a towering 3 meters tall (9'10), and unlike other Saiyans is a kind and gentle soul who would rather live in peace than fight. The trope name is even used by Boomstick to describe Broly. He only tends to fight when forced to by outside forces (such as Paragus, Frieza, and for this battle Hulk).
  • Healing Factor: In the popups, the original Broly has this to allow him to survive his own power exploding from within him. Super Broly isn't shown to have it but does have the Senzu Beans, which would allow him to regenerate from simlar fatal wounds.
  • I'll Kill You!: He shouts this at the Hulk word-for-word once he finally reaches his limits with the Green Goliath. And he lives up to his threats.
  • Ki Manipulation: Broly, like most characters from the Dragon Ball franchise, can manipulate his ki in a variety of ways, including in his Blaster Meteor, Eraser Cannon, Omega Blaster, and Gigantic Roar attacks. This is yet another reason why he wins. It gives Broly ranged options to attack Hulk with, weakening him enough for the kill.
  • Motivated by Fear: Given as a possible reason why Vegeta — the king, not the planet, or the prince — exiled Broly to Vampa, a hellish backwater planet that even those as strong as Saiyans can barely survive on.
  • Pent-Up Power Peril: It's pointed out that once Broly hits the highest tiers of his transformation, his body is actually taking damage from his own power and he needs to constantly expel it in order to avoid potentially explosive overload. In his original Z appearance at the end of his debut movie, his body actually ruptured after being grievously wounded from Goku's last strike because it couldn't handle his own power anymore, which he barely survived.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Broly can destroy entire planets with his Eraser Cannon alone and that's barely even scratching the surface of his strength. He's strong enough to overpower Goku, who nearly destroyed Universe 7 while fighting Beerus and is comparable to Jiren, who could shake an infinite void with his power. During his battle with Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta, they outright shattered reality. This puts his base form way above World Breaker Hulk in terms of power.
  • Planet Destroyer: Broly is more than capable of easily destroying planets, though his Super incarnation doesn't engage in this as wantonly as his DBZ incarnation. He and Hulk still destroy several planets across the galaxy during their battle.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: He falls over after killing Hulk, drained from all the wrecking he did.
  • Super Mode: He has three: Wrath Form, which utilizes the power of the Great Ape while maintaining his humanoid form; the normal Super Saiyan form; and finally his Legendary Super Saiyan form with its trademark green hair.
  • Super-Strength: Broly's strength is great enough that he can match and even surpass the likes of Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta, whom can each destroy the Dragon Ball Universe multiple times over through physical might, and match the far stronger Super Saiyan Gogeta. His strength far surpasses that of Hulk's, and he could kill Hulk before Hulk could catch up.
  • Super-Toughness: By the time he reaches Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly is strong enough to take attacks capable of putting down universes with ease. He was even able to endure direct hits from Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta, who was even stronger than him, and keep fighting. This particular trait gave him an extra edge on the Hulk, as it meant he would be more than capable of surviving his opponent's blows before ending him first.
  • Tranquil Fury: He calls out the Hulk in a low, seething growl for scaring off the stags he was playing with. He becomes less tranquil as the fight goes on.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: One of Broly's biggest weaknesses is that while he does have training, his god-like power far surpasses his actual skill with it, and the more power he puts out the more uncontrollable he gets from rage while throwing skill to the wayside. Luckily for him, his base raw power plus his possibly infinite potential for growth while enraged gave him the leg up he needed on the Hulk to cover that weakness.
  • Unstoppable Rage: After the Hulk continues to attack and goad Broly despite the latter warning him to back off, he gives in to his temper and engages him in a no holds barred brawl that annihilates an entire galaxy in the resulting crossfire, with the Hulk stone-dead and little more than atoms by the time it’s over.
  • Use Your Head: He eventually kills the Hulk in a reality-shattering headbutting contest that ends with him back on the planet Hulk met him on, holding the Green Goliath's crumbling hands.
  • Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: Subverted. Broly has golden eyes in his Wrath Form, but "sneaky" doesn't really apply to the way he fights, especially by that point.
