    Batman VS Iron Man

    Goku Black VS Reverse-Flash
  • Ax-Crazy: The analysis for both characters certainly do not hide how utterly insane they both are.
  • Evil Counterpart: Both villains possess extremely similar but corrupted powers, personalities, identities, and appearances to their most hated enemies, Son Goku and Barry Allen, respectively.
  • Evil Is Petty: Both villains antagonize their arch nemeses either for a petty reason or in petty ways, with Goku Black having stolen Goku's body essentially because Goku beat him in a fight, and Reverse-Flash making it his life's goal to systematically make the Flash's life a living hell.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Both of them are monstrous individuals pitted in a fight to the death.
  • Hate Sink: Both are extremely hated, violent, unpleasant, sociopathic, sadistic, narcissistic, petty, arrogant, deviously overconfident, and mass-murdering monsters with a long laundry list of despicable and inexcusable atrocities and have absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
  • Paradox Person: Thanks to Black's Time Ring, Thawne's Negative Speed Force, and some Timey-Wimey Ball bullshit, both villains are this case where they themselves and other versions of them still existing out there at some other point in time are protected from massive changes to their personal timeline. Even if they are killed or erased from existence, there is always another version of Black and Thawne that still exists and could come back at any point in time.
  • Time-Traveling Jerkass: Both hail from the future and have the means to travel to different timelines where they are always seeking to wreak as much havoc and suffering as possible.
  • Why Won't You Die?: A unique variant in that both demand to know why the other isn't dead after they both kill each other's past selves the first time.
Goku Black & Reverse-Flash: (after both kill each other's past selves and realise they're still alive) WHY AREN'T YOU DEAD?!

Goku Black (Zamasu)

Goku Black: "You've been running around making messes for too long and now I'm going to choke the life from you. I can't wait to watch you die."

The Body-Stealing Arbiter of Divine Justice

  • Achilles' Heel: Unlike Thawne, who exists outside of time naturally, Goku Black relies on his Time Ring to both provide him immunity to the effects of changing time and the ability to travel through it himself, leading to his final death after he loses it. Thawne even lampshades this as a Pre-Mortem One-Liner:
    Reverse-Flash: Sorry, was that important?
  • Adaptive Ability: Due to Goku's body, he possesses a Saiyan's natural ability to recover from injuries and near-death to get even stronger.
  • All for Nothing: Despite all the notable feats to his name, up to and including merging with another version of Zamasu to become an even more powerful being that merged with The Multiverse, in the end all of Black's efforts came to nothing when Zeno wiped out the whole timeline, proving that he was always destined to lose to someone who would always be stronger than him.
  • Always Someone Better: Goku Black may be a living paradox and an outright god, but even he meets his match against the Reverse-Flash, who far exceeds him in speed, power, and temporal invincibility.
  • Ascended Extra: After his fight with Black Adam in DBX Season 2, Black comes back for his first proper Death Battle.
  • Asshole Victim: Goku Black suffers one of the most horrific deaths this show has seen, which is really saying something, but given he's a self-centered genocidal bastard who killed those innocent civilians alone (before getting into the atrocities he commited in his home series), you can only feel so sorry for him. Bonus points for getting smoked by one of those mortals he hates so much.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: He is the first Dragon Ball character to lose since Goku's second loss to Superman back in Season 2.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Thawne steals and destroys his Time Ring which removes his immunity to paradoxes, another Thawne phases through his internal organs and slams him face-first into the ground, he gets dragged across the entire planet multiple times over and reducing most of the front half of his body to the bonenote , and culminating in Thawne hurling him into the Sun with enough force that it explodes.
  • Death by Irony: In his canon, Wiz muses on the irony of Zamasu, a god who sought to eliminate mortals for "divine justice", ultimately stealing the body and identity of one of the strongest mortals in existence to help in his plan before ultimately being slain by Zeno to stop his rampage.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Boomstick accuses Zamasu of this, pointing out that by taking over Goku's body, he's gone from an immortal god to a very mortal Saiyan.
  • Excuse Me While I Multitask: Black does this at the start of the fight, obliterating mortals while drinking tea.
  • Fusion Dance: Fused Zamasu, which is the result of Goku Black and another version of Zamasu (this one with Complete Immortality) fusing via the Potara Earrings, which was so powerful he was able to merge with The Multiverse itself and ultimately could only be defeated by destroying an entire timeline. This form doesn't appear in the fight itself, but it is mentioned briefly in both Black's analysis and the post-fight analysis brings it up again to drive home that this form wouldn't necessarily have been an ace in the hole against Thawne even if it was included, citing how Thawne was on record on having destroyed several timelines on his own.
  • God in Human Form: To carry out his genocide against all mortals, Zamasu — for all intents and purposes a god — stole the body of the mortal Saiyan Goku in order to take advantage of his enormous power and ability to temporarily transform into a Super Saiyan God.
  • Grand Theft Me: Goku Black is the result of the Kai Zamasu using the Super Dragon Balls to wish and steal Goku’s powerful Saiyan body for himself.
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: Wiz points this mindset out as a key difference between Goku and Black, Goku strives to improve himself and to break any limits thrown his way, whereas Zamasu was more than willing to take a shortcut and steal Goku's body rather than push himself to that level of power on his own. This is a major point against him, as while the real Goku could theoretically reach a similar level of power to Thawne with enough time and effort, Black lacks the drive necessary to actually put in the effort. Indeed, this plays into his defeat, as where Thawne earned his Paradox Person status through personal mastery of the Negative Speed Force, whereas Zamasu simply stole a ring to achieve the same thing, meaning that once Thawne stole the ring from him, he was left completely vulnerable to the latter's machinations.
  • Hero Killer: Zamasu assassinated his own mentor as step one of his plans. He then stole Goku's body, and then KILLED the now useless Goku trapped in his original body and Chichi and Goten, as step two.
  • Humans Are Bastards: Goku Black believes that all mortals are disgusting and primitive creatures who are incapable of evolving beyond their base instincts.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: As a Goku, he can charge and fire off the Black Kamehameha.
  • Karmic Death: He's killed by Thawne who not only proves as far above him as the former was above Dragon Ball Super's heroes, but also started out as a mortal before becoming a Paradox Person.
  • Ki Manipulation: Like many Dragon Ball characters, Black can utilize his godly ki for all sorts of techniques such as firing ki blasts and the Black Kamehameha, teleport anywhere with Instant Transmission, create energy blades and scythes, flight, etc.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: His past self:
Black: Mortals! Sinners! Prepare for divine— (Reverse-Flash splatters him)
  • Laser Blade: He can mold his ki into one called the "God Split Cut", create the longer "Azure Dragon Sword", and can create a Sinister Scythe version called the "Sickle of Sorrow".
  • Logical Weakness: The Time Ring grants Black his Paradox Person status, so remove it from his person, remove his "temporal immortality". This weakness gets brutally exploited by Thawne and how he was finally able to kill Black at the end of the fight.
  • Lost Food Grievance: He starts attacking Thawne after the latter breaks his teacup.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: Reverse-Flash goes back in time and splatters Black's past self. Present Black is unaffected due to his Time Ring.
  • Make a Wish: Goku Black exists due to Zamasu using the Super Dragon Balls to switch bodies with Goku. Boomstick questions why he didn't just use the Super Dragon Balls to wish all the mortals dead, but assumes it's because Zamasu wanted to enjoy himself in his mission.
  • Me's a Crowd: He's able to spawn clones of himself by slicing holes in reality with the Sickle of Sorrow. It doesn't factor in his win since Eobard's paradoxical nature allows him to sic an infinite number of alternate selves from the Negative Speed Force to cancel out the clones.
  • Mortality Ensues: When Zamasu stole Goku's body, he gave up the Long-Lived nature of his old Kai body, not to mention he didn't wish for Complete Immortality. This was pointed out to actually be a weakness Reverse-Flash could exploit, as once the Time Ring was out of the picture Goku's body would be especially vulnerable to Thawne's Rapid Aging powers.
  • Neck Lift: After using the Divine Lasso's spikes explosion to knock Thawne into the air, Black catches and grabs him by the throat and then slams him down through the Earth.
  • No Body Left Behind: One of the past Blacks suffers this fate courtesy of Reverse-Flash vibrating his molecules to the point he comes apart on the atomic level. The actual Black would later be subjected to this as well after being thrown into the Sun.
  • Non-Indicative Name: His Black Kamehameha (at least while in Super Saiyan Rosé) and his Azure Dragon Sword are both pink, not the colors they're named after. Boomstick wonders if this means Black, and by extension Goku himself, is in fact colorblind.
  • Oh, Crap!: He has one at the end of the fight when he realized Thawne stole and destroyed his Time Ring.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Goku Black has all the power of the real Goku, who was stronger than during his fight against Beerus, where he was strong enough to nearly destroy Universe 7 (which is at least 9 times larger than our own and possibly even 13 times larger), and none of his morality or restraint. Adding on the Super Saiyan Rosé form's possible 50x boost, Black could in theory destroy our universe at least 650 times over. In fact, it could be even higher since Goku Black's body has gone through additional training with Whis and got some power boosts from fighting with Universe 6 though it's unknown how much those boosts are. However, this still paled in comparison to Thawne possibly managing to destroying our universe at a billion times over and could scale to the race between Barry Allen and Wally West, which almost destroyed the DC Multiverse.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: He's quite proud of the Super Saiyan Rosé form, color and all, and even takes the time to gloat about it to Thawne while throttling him.
Black: What do you think of this color? Is it not beautiful?
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Besides the Goku Black name, he has his own Super Saiyan form unique to him, Super Saiyan Rosé.
  • Ring of Power: The Time Ring is a divine item that provides Black with the ability to travel through time without consequences, even following after others who time travel, and exist outside the timeline so that even if something should happen that could Ret-Gone him, he'll be protected from the changes. However, this only applies as long as the Ring is in his possession, and Thawne removing and destroying it allows him to finally finish Black off.
  • Smug Super: Goku Black befitting his identity as a self-assured god has an ego the size of the universe, and he has the power to blow up said universe on a whim to justify himself. He spends most of the fight completely confident and tooting his own horn, which seems to have been the main reason Thawne picked a fight with him since he didn't like how smug Black was.
  • Super Mode: Goku Black's counterpart to Goku's blue-haired Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form — which Wiz estimates boosts the power of his universe-threatening Super Saiyan God form by at least 50 times — is the pink-haired Super Saiyan Rosé form. Thawne is intimidated enough by it that he decides initially to just time-travel and kill Black at the very start of the fight before he uses it, and kills two past Blacks using the form before they can even see him coming before he finally engages the real Black head-on.
  • Super-Speed: Thanks to taking over Goku’s body, Goku Black can scale to the clash between Goku and Beerus, whose clash produced shockwaves that traveled at about 242 quadrillion times the speed of light with additional speed increases thanks to Goku's body being older than when Goku clashed with Beerus. However, Reverse-Flash scales to Wally West, whose speeds are in the incalculable feats. This means Black would lose, since Eobard could disable his Ret-Gone-immunity by removing his time ring before he could disable Eobard's Ret-Gone immunity.
  • Super-Strength: As he possesses the body of Goku post-Battle of Gods, which absorbed the power of the Super Saiyan God form and could trade blows with Beerus to create shockwaves capable of threatening Universe 7, he's definitely got this.
  • Super-Toughness: Scaling to Goku means he must be able to survive attacks that can destroy the universe at least 9 times over, with added multipliers since Goku has gotten stronger past that point. However, this toughness is useless as Reverse-Flash has ways to bypass it, such as aging him to death, getting his internal organs destroyed by his intangibility or in the case of the fight, turned into roadkill at supersonic speed followed by being thrown into the sun.
  • Teleportation: As Goku Black, Zamasu has access to the Instant Transmission technique, which allows him to teleport to any ki signatures instantly. However, this wouldn't be enough to win, since Thawne is equal to Wally West, who has managed to beat instant teleportation.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Tea is listed as one of his likes, and in the fight itself Black shows up to casually slaughter mortals while drinking tea, and it's Thawne knocking the teacup out of his hands that sets his murderous sights on the speedster.

Reverse-Flash I/Professor Zoom (Eobard Thawne)

The Flash: "Still think you can take me?"
Reverse-Flash: "Even death can't catch me."

DC's Psychopathic Speedster Fanboy

  • Accidental Hero: He only intended to kill his enemy Goku Black, but in traveling to the beginning of the fight and killing him he accidentally stops him from massacring a bunch of civilians. Though he does end up also accidentally destroying the Earth...
  • Ascended Fanboy: For a time, he managed to be this to his hero Barry...up until Barry realized that Thawne was engaging in Engineered Heroics and broke it off. When Thawne tried to clean up his act and go back to the past to show Barry he had turned over a new leaf, he realized that Barry already had a full life without giving him a second thought and more importantly that he was destined to be Barry's arch-nemesis.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: The main reason why he won against his opponent is that he is far more likely to figure out how does Goku Black's temporal invincibility work and how to counter it first thanks to his far greater understanding on how time-travel works because in spite of his other advanatges, all would be meaningless if he couldn't correctly deduce and disable his opponent's Paradox Person status.
  • Badass Bookworm: He's a scientist from the 25th century who managed to replicate the Flash's powers through experimenting on his suit.
  • Badass Fingersnap: He can create shockwaves by just snapping his fingers. He doesn't do that in the fight but instead, does that to send himself back in time.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: With his victory, DC's losing streak that started with Winter Soldier vs Red Hood comes to an end.
  • Brought Down to Normal: His ultimate (current) fate in his canon is losing his status as a Paradox Person and losing his memories to become the Nice Guy he used to be before his obsessions consumed him. Due to the nature of comics, however, Boomstick expresses doubt that it will stick.
  • Cutting the Knot: Like fellow DC characters before him such as Green Lantern and Wally West when they appeared in a Death Battle, he used time travel to kill their opponent at their most vulnerable at some point in the fight. While he managed to do it, Goku Black's Paradox Person status means that this tactic wouldn't work and that he'll just come back later on.
  • The Dark Side: Unlike other DC speedsters, Thawne draws his abilities from the Negative Speed Force.
  • Die Laughing: The first past Thawne Goku Black kills is in the middle of laughing at the death of Black's own past self when he bites it.
  • Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: When Thawne back in time to kill Black's past self, his own past self joins in on the laughter at watching the kill...up until Black shows up to cut him apart.
  • Evil Is Petty: Thawne is the epitome of this trope. The description of his preview doesn't even bother to sugarcoat it. His first move in the fight is to knock Black’s teacup out of his hands.
  • Evil Laugh: The first past Reverse-Flash does this with the main Reverse-Flash before he dies. The third Reverse-Flash does this as he sets up the statue that will impale Quicksilver.
  • Flipping the Bird: He does this to Black before killing him.
  • Frame-Up: He deliberately set up the statue that impaled Quicksilver so Barry would take the blame.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Already unstable from realizing Barry had a fulfilling life without him, Thawne snapped upon learning that he was the mysterious "greatest villain of Barry Allen, destined to die at his hands".
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Black cuts two past versions of Eobard in half with his Sickle of Sorrow. Present Eobard is unaffected.
  • Human Shield: Eobard uses a random bystander to block several of Black’s energy blasts, invokedthen throws said bystander's mutilated remains at him.
  • Hurl It into the Sun: He finishes off Black by throwing him into the Sun so hard that it goes supernova.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: On the giving end. Thawne does this to Black twice. The first time, he does it to a past Black before he could use Instant Transmission back to Earth after punching his past self back hard to Earth, although this doesn't kill the current Black due to his Time Ring. The second time, although it doesn't kill him, is what allows Thawne (or rather, his alternate self) to finish him off by wiping the floor with him and then throwing him into the sun.
  • Intangibility: He can vibrate his molecules to phase through solid objects, usually using this ability to destroy a person's vital organs or scramble their molecules. This ability is an advantage against his opponent as he can use this power to completely phase through Black's attacks and bypass his durability to inflict fatal damage.
  • Kick the Dog: It's revealed in the fight that it was he who set up the samurai statue for Quicksilver to get impaled on, for seemingly no reason other than to spoil the race and waste Barry's time when he wanted to save a falling girl.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Pun aside, he's actually this compared to his opponent. While Eobard's a horrifying villain who will do everything in his power to torment Barry Allen and everyone around him and even destroy timelines, he's nowhere near the intentional Omnicidal Maniac or mortal hater that is Black. He is even seen minding his own business at the start of the fight... which is yes, tormenting Barry by tricking him into killing Quicksilver. That said, he DOES destroy Earth while killing Black.
  • Loony Fan: Was originally one of Barry Allen, until he learned he was destined to become Barry’s greatest enemy.
  • No Body Left Behind: One of his past selves gets completely vaporized by a point-blank Black Kamehameha. Present Thawne is unaffected.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • When Black blows up the city with a Black Kamehameha, he goes, "Yikes!" before having to outrun the explosion. He yells, "Oh shit!" when he narrowly dodges Black's scythe.
    • He has two non-verbal ones as well, the first being when he realizes Black managed to follow him through time, and the second for one of his past selves right before he gets vaporized by a point-blank Black Kamehameha.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Thawne uses the full power of the Negative Speed Force with no restraint to achieve cataclysmic levels of destruction. The full extent of this potential can be seen in how he's destroyed entire timelines and generated enough energy to hold back the destruction of the entire DC universe, which is over 100 trillion light-years in diameter. For comparison's sake, that's over one billion times larger than the real universe, and over 70 million times larger than even the largest estimate of Universe 7. And as an added note, he could scale to the race between Wally West and Barry Allen, whose race almost destroyed the DC Multiverse. This was a major factor in his victory, as even high-balling Goku Black at over hundreds or even thousands of times stronger than Battle of Gods-era Goku, he still couldn't match up to that.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Said after destroying Black's Time Ring:
    Reverse-Flash: Sorry, was that important?
  • Rapid Aging: Reverse-Flash could do this to anyone he touches via the Negative Speed Force, aging them 80 years in a few seconds. This is one of the ways he could reliably kill Black once the Time Ring was removed, as Goku's mortal body (unlike Zamasu's original divine one) only has a lifespan not much better than a human's, even if Saiyan biology allows them to fight at near full-power even into their elderly years.
  • Slasher Smile: Thawne gives Black a huge shit-eating grin right after he destroys Black's Time Ring, allowing Thawne to kill him for good.
  • Strong and Skilled: Why he wins this battle because not only he is far faster and possesses far more destructive power than his opponent, he also has far more skill and experience with time travel and has the smarts to figure out on how to permanently kill his opponent.
  • Super-Speed: He can keep up and even move faster than other speedsters like Barry Allen and Wally West, and for reference, Wally can cross the entire universe faster than instant teleportation. He's proven to be much faster than his opponent being able to land his attacks first, outrun his opponent's attacks and Instant Transmission, and once he was able to figure out how to counter his opponent temporal invincibility, he would be fast enough to remove it without him noticing until its too late.
  • Super-Toughness: He can tank the Infinite Mass Punch to the face, which hits with the force of an exploding star, with at worst just being knocked out for a time. In the fight, he survives being punched through the Earth and the Moon twice no worse for wear. He also survived being hit by Barry Allen while he had the entire speed force absorbed into himnote . This is factor in his win, as it means Thawne's physical durability is far beyond what even Infinite Zamasu is capable of reaching, let alone Goku Black.
  • Time Master: As a part of being a speedster, he could time travel at will and rob someone else's time and age them rapidly in mere seconds. It got to the point where he became a living paradox, free to do whatever he wanted to time with no consequences. This is a factor in his win because not only his time-traveling powers are superior and less restrictive, he has a much better understanding of time and how it works, allowing him figure out Goku Black's reliance on the Time Ring and destroy it.
  • Troll: Thawne's raison d'être is to make Barry Allen as miserable as possible — not out of hatred, but a twisted desire to be close to him — and he delights in pulling sadistic "pranks" on his nemesis and his loved ones. He's introduced smugly gloating that he was the one who caused the Flash's race with Quicksilver to end in the latter's death, and through the fight, he constantly tries to get a rise out of Black - accepting Black's demand that he stand still, just so he can show off his Intangibility, and giving a shit-eating grin as he destroys Goku Black's Time Ring while asking whether it was important, and Flipping the Bird as he phases out and lets an alternate version of himself Wipe The Floor With Black.
  • The Unfettered: Unlike Barry, Eobard makes full use of the more destructive aspects of his abilities, such as vibrating his body through solid objects which he uses on people.
  • Unfortunate Names: "Eobard" is probably a common name in the 25th century, but Boomstick still thinks it's "the dumbest f**king first name I've ever heard in my life."
  • Villains Out Shopping: He's seen in the beginning enjoying a newspaper... while also gloating about having a hand in Quicksilver's death.
  • We Have Reserves: This is one of his major advantages in the fight; thanks to his innate connection to the Negative Speed Force, he can send an infinite number of his alternate selves to die at Black's hand until he can find a way to destroy the Time Ring.
  • Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: "Eobard" in Boomstick's opinion is the dumbest first name he has heard in his time in Death Battle. And he's heard names like "Geese".
  • Wipe the Floor with You: How he kills Black; he does so by running around the entire planet multiple times with Super-Speed.
  • Yandere: One of the ways he tried to use time travel to improve his life was by repeatedly going back in time and killing every boyfriend his crush ever had until he was the only option left. He doesn’t take it well when she still isn’t interested in him. It’s this that causes Boomstick to call him a monster. He is also obsessed with Barry, using his powers to travel through time and do everything he can to make Barry's life hell... All so Barry will come after him and thus spend time with him.

    Macho Man VS Kool-Aid Man
  • Character Catchphrase: Both of them have, "Oh Yeah!" Kool-Aid Man also uses it as a Pre-Mortem One-Liner.
  • Friendly Rivalry: The two of them act friendly to each other after the battle has ended, with Randy telling Kool-Aid Man to fight him the same time next week, implying that the two of them have fought before and will fight again.
  • Mascot: Kool-Aid Man is, obviously, Kool-Aid's mascot, and Randy was a spokesman for another food product, Slim Jims.
  • Memetic Badass: invoked The main theme of the fight, similar to Chuck Norris vs Segata Sanshiro, with analysis taking all the fighter’s official appearances as canon, including roles they played or parodies they appeared in.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage

Macho Man Randy Savage: "Oh, the Macho Man is the cream and I'm always rising to the top!"
Voiced by: Anthony Sardinha
  • Back from the Dead: After his death, Kool-Aid Man uses his Kool-Aid to revive him good as new.
  • Composite Character: Similarly to Chuck Norris back in Season 2, Randy is a composite of his real-life self, his depictions in WWE lore, his time as Slim Jim's mascot, and characters he played as such as Rasslor from Dexter's Laboratory and Bonesaw McGraw from Spider-Man.
  • Fragile Speedster: He's much faster than the Kool-Aid Man but isn't as physically strong or tough. This factored into his defeat as he lacked the means to put the Kool-Aid Man down for good (removing the Kool-Aid from Kool-Aid's pitcher wouldn't do anything as he can exist without Kool-Aid inside and could always just summon more) as well as lacking any resistance to Kool-Aid Man's Kool-Aid manipulation.
  • Graceful Loser: After being revived by Kool-Aid Man, Randy simply asks him for a rematch at the same time next week. Kool-Aid Man agrees.
  • I Am Not Your Father: He gets mistaken by Boomstick as his father due to matching Ringmaster's description of him. He quickly verifies when he returns from the dead that he is not.
  • Kill It Through Its Stomach: He tries to drink all the Kool-Aid Man's kool-aid, only for the Kool-Aid man to control it and make it erupt out of him to kill him.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: In addition to being a wrestler, when he eats a Slim Jim, he can teleport and summon tornadoes and lightning storms.
  • Leitmotif: Pomp and Circumstance; due to the fact that it's a public domain song, this makes him the very first combatant to have a theme of his play during his analysis section since Death Battle switched to using non-licensed songs since Season 4.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: When discussing his role as Rasslor from Dexter's Laboratory, Wiz lampshades how it is out of character for someone like Randy Savage to be a Planet Destroyer.
  • Percussive Maintenance: Randy can revive fallen allies to peak physical condition by performing the Elbow Drop on them.
  • Posthumous Character: While Randy is not the first combatant to have this apply to before the episode was revealed, he is the first real-life combatant to have this apply to, having died of a heart attack in 2011.
  • Power-Up Food: By eating a Slim Jim, he manifests all kinds of crazy powers. In the fight, he uses one to summon lightning.
  • Signature Move: Randy has one in his Elbow Drop, which he has used to win 70% of all his matches as well as revive fellow wrestler Hulk Hogan in a match.
  • Super-Speed: Randy (as Rasslor) defeated Major Glory, who was calculated as being 33x the speed of light. This makes him faster than the Kool-Aid Man but it wasn't enough to overcome his other advantages.
  • Super-Strength: Randy managed to bench-press over 300 pounds and had torn apart a straitjacket he was wearing, and that's not getting to the fact that he fought both Spider-Man and Chuck Norris, the latter of whom was strong enough to push the Earth downwards by just doing push-ups. This pales in comparison to the Kool-Aid Man breaking the sun.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Randy has the ability to turn his fingers into snakes.

The Kool-Aid Man

The Kool-Aid Man: "Oh yeah! Did somebody say thirsty?"
Voiced by: Tom Schalk
  • Back from the Dead: The Kool-Aid from Kool-Aid Man's body can be used to resurrect the dead, which he does to Randy after killing him at the end of their battle.
  • Green Thumb: Kool-Aid Man's tears and his Kool-Aid can cause this effect.
  • Mighty Glacier: He's slower than Randy but much stronger and tougher. This factors into his victory as he could take anything Randy could dish out while Randy would be vulnerable to a few of Kool-Aid Man's techniques, particularly his Kool-Aid manipulation.
  • Oh, Crap!: He has this reaction when Randy drinks all of the Kool-Aid in his pitcher before busting free.
  • Reality Warper: He can teleport, travel to a Kool-Aid dimension, summon walls, telekinetically control all types of Kool-Aid, and alter matter, having once turned several mountains and even the entire planet into Kool-Aid.
  • Stout Strength: Despite weighing 11,000 pounds and being made of glass and Kool-Aid, Kool-Aid Man is remarkably strong and durable, being able to bust down barriers of any material and even the sun.
  • Super-Speed: He can launch himself fast enough to spin the moon. He's slower than Randy but his other advantages meant he would still win.
  • There Was a Door: One of his most iconic abilities is the power to seemingly burst through any barrier, no matter if it's made of wood, brick, steel, concrete or even the hulls of spaceships.
  • Xanatos Speed Chess: He drags Macho Man into a Kool-Aid dimension and uses the wonky physics to trap Macho Man inside of himself. When Macho escapes by drinking the Kool-Aid, Kool-Aid Man manipulates the drink to impale him with an internal geyser of Kool-Aid.

    DIO VS Alucard
  • Ascended Extra: Both DIO and Alucard return from their DBX in Season 3 to go at it with each other again in the main show.
  • Ax-Crazy: While one (Alucard) is undoubtedly more moral than the other (DIO), both vampires are truly violent and vicious to their very cores, relishing fighting strong opponents and the resulting bloodshed.
  • Foil: Despite their similarities, DIO and Alucard have a lot of opposing distinctions between them.
    • DIO completely rejected his humanity in exchange for his vampire powers and sees himself as a superior, unkillable being and that humans are nothing but inferior creatures to easily prey and toy with. Alucard on the other hand despises all vampires who threw away their humanity (including himself) while also actively hunting them, sees the beauty in mortality, and ultimately wishes to be slain by a worthy human.
    • Both are strongly associated with priests, but in opposite manners: Enrico Pucci is DIO's best friend and most loyal follower due to his plan to achieve heaven, while Alexander Anderson is rivals with Alucard and hunts him for being an unholy being, with Alucard welcoming him as a challenger.
    • DIO has a holy theme: massive god-complex, has a son that defeated a man whose name translates to "Devil", wants to create Heaven, worshipped by a priest, and his name literally translates into "God" in Italian. Likewise, Alucard has a demonic theme: serves the Hellsing Organization, his greatest rival is a priest, and his world's vampires (including himself) are demonic beings.
  • Healing Factor: Their regenerative powers make them incredibly hard to kill, and typically give them a huge advantage against their opponents.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Both are two of anime's most bloodthirsty, scary and popular vampires, who vastly differ from what is expected from the usual depictions of said creatures in fiction.

Dio Brando/DIO

Dio: "You thought your first kiss would be JoJo, but it was I, Dio!"
Voiced by: Tom Schalk

The Everlasting Adversary of the Joestar Bloodline

  • And Show It to You: How Dio manages to defeat Alucard. After Alucard unleashes Level 0, Dio uses The World's Time Stop to get behind Alucard, punch a hole in his chest, and grab his heart, squeezing it until it explodes upon his arm reaching out the other side of Alucard.
  • Anti-Regeneration: Dio's sheer strength and speed allows him to burn through Alucard's soul-based regeneration at an alarmingly fast rate in a one-on-one fight or take out entire swathes of his armynote  should Alucard unleash Level 0. Wiz even notes that the means by which Alucard summons his army, that is, in a massive river of blood, actually hands a significant advantage to Dio since the JoJo universe's brand of vampire actually ingests blood through suckers on their fingertips rather than their fangs. And boy, does Dio ever like to use his hands when fighting.
  • Badass Boast: Upon rocketing himself up towards Alucard while he activated Level 0, Dio proceeds to honor Alucard's title as the King of Vampires, while declaring himself as above the status of kings.
Dio: Face me, Vampire King! BOW TO YOUR NEW GOOOOOOD!
  • The Bad Guy Wins: He's a straight, monstrously evil villain to Alucard's Anti-Hero, and ultimately wins the fight. And as if to rub salt in the wound, Alucard's canon ultimate desire was to be killed by a human instead of a monster, but DIO is as vile and inhuman as they come.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: He infamously murdered Jonathan's dog Danny as one of the many ways to make his life hell during his original plan to usurp the Joestar fortune. Boomstick cheers for Jonathan as he beats up Dio for thisnote , calling Dio a "creepy dog murderer".
  • Cain and Abel: After being adopted into the Joestar family, Dio developed a deep hatred of his brother Jonathan "JoJo" Joestar; who foiled his plot to assassinate Jonathan's father and usurp the family fortune for himself. Dio proceeded to try to make Jonathan's life as miserable as possible before turning himself into a pseudo-vampire with the Stone Mask. And even before all of that, Dio was willing to use such "alpha wolf" tactics on Jonathan such as beating him up, molesting his girlfriend, and burning his dog alive.
  • Car Fu: DIO's most memetic trick is flattening his opponent with a steamroller and punching it until it explodes. In the fight he uses this in retaliation for being Baskerville's chew toy, though it doesn't affect Alucard much.
  • Catch and Return: Dio does this at the start by catching one of Alucard's bullets with The World and flicking it back at him.
  • The Coats Are Off: After getting hit by the initial blood wave of Alucard's Level 0, DIO somehow changes from wearing his iconic yellow jacket to losing itnote .
  • Conservation of Ninjutsu: While Alucard suddenly has an army of 3 million zombie souls in an ocean of blood due to his Restriction Level 0, most of the zombies only have the power relative to a human while only a small percentage were actually vampires (and far weaker than Dio or Alucard themselves), meaning Dio could effortlessly rip through all of them given enough time while simultaneously healing any damage due to the deluge of blood since JoJo vampires primarily drink blood through fingertip-based suckers instead of fangs.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Pretty much all of Dio's issues can be traced back to how he was born a "penniless street rat in the slums of Victorian London" humiliated by poverty and abused by his alcoholic father, which made him obsessed with clawing his way up to power by any means necessary out of resentment and "small-dick energy"note .
  • Discard and Draw: Played with. After replacing his body from neck-down with Jonathan's and gaining his Stand The World, DIO noticeably ceased to use nearly all of his vampiric abilities, but it's noted in a pop-up note that there's nothing in canon that explicitly states he lost the ability to use them, especially after draining Joseph Joestar's blood during his fight with Jotaro Kujo to empower himself fullynote . Thus, Dio in the fight makes full use of both his vampiric powers and The World.
  • Evil Is Petty: Dio doesn't need much of an excuse to be dickish to others. He tormented Jonathan for much of their early years simply out of jealousy and a desire to prove himself "better". And then there was the time he zombified a mother and let her eat her baby just for kicks.
  • Eye Beams: Dio can fire fluids from his eyes at high enough pressures and speeds to split clouds in the sky, a feat which would put them at capable of unleashing over 10 megatons of TNT. The sheer destructive output behind the Space Ripper Stingy Eyes could easily wipe out Alucard's army in just one go.
  • Fangs Are Evil: He gained these after becoming a vampire, though he doesn't use them to feed on blood (JoJo vampires actually do that with their fingers), so it seems they're really just there to show how evil he is.
  • Fighting Spirit: After being pierced with a special arrow, Dio manifested one of these, which in his own canon, is known as a Stand. Dio's Stand is called The World, which posesses incredible physical abilities and the power to stop time. Given that Alucard isn't a Stand User and his Third Eye, while capable of seeing long distances and perceiving his surroundings better, hasn't shown a capability to see invisible foes (let alone metaphysical ones), it's unlikely he could detect or damage The World, a factor that plays into DIO's eventual triumph.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Dio's analysis starts by stating how he, the man who is responsible for the destruction of the universe, starts out as a street rat living in the slums of London.
  • Genius Bruiser: In addition to his superhuman strength, he has a massive personal library and a legitimate law degree, and even once outsmarted genius tactician Joseph Joestar.
  • A God Am I: DIO calls himself as such when he launches himself towards Alucard, telling him to bow before his new godnote .
  • Hate Sink: Boomstick outright says that though they have seen a lot of "pieces of shit" on the show, DIO takes the cake. Keep in mind that only two episodes ago they had Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, who elicited a similar reaction.
  • Healing Factor: One of the most powerful abilities Dio's transformation into a vampire gave him was this, allowing him to recover from being shot multiple times, burnt alive, de-limbed, decapitated, bisected, stabbed through the head, punched through the chest on three separate occasions, and would include (by the feats of another Stone Mask vampire Straizo) blown to pieces by a bunch of grenades, though he does need to consume blood to jumpstart it. Luckily for him, Alucard had no shortage of blood to drain, especially once Level 0 came into play and there are oceans of blood to drink.
  • Hero Killer: In canon, he kills Dire, Jonathan Joestar, Kakyoin Noriaki, and Joseph Joestarnote . The fight here ends with Dio killing the antiheroic Alucard.
  • An Ice Person: Through vaporizing the moisture in his own body, Dio can instantly freeze anything he touches. He uses this to freeze Alucard's guns and arms to shatter them, but Alucard doesn't let this bother him.
  • Kiai: "MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA!"note
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He doesn't actually die from it, but it's hard not to chuckle at DIO getting chewed up by Baskerville and screaming his head off when you consider his long list of evil deeds includes killing Jonathan's dog Danny by burning him alive.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Dio is strong enough to throw steamrollers around like they're nothing, durable enough to survive and regenerate from bisection and decapitation, and faster than light. This factors into his victory as he's much faster and stronger than Alucard, fast and strong enough that he could kill Alucard millions of times over, making him use up all the souls he has to revive himself and while Dio's Healing Factor is inferior to Alucard's, he's still capable of recovering from whatever Alucard could throw at him.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Dio has several hard counters to Alucard's abilities. His ability to absorb blood from the fingertips makes Alucard's Level 0 the equivalent of handing out a win as not only does it create a giant pool of blood that Dio can heal himself from but it speeds up Alucard's demise as Dio's Space Ripper Stingy Eyes have enough power to kill all the familiars in one fell swoop. Additionally, Alucard's blessed bullets are ineffective as not only are JoJo's Bizarre Adventure not weak to silver and anything holy but Dio's durability and Healing Factor are that much more powerful than the likes of Alexander Anderson's. Furthermore, Alucard's Victory by Endurance tactic is turned on its head as Dio is just that much stronger, faster and tougher than Alucard and has The World by his side. Alucard's Third Eye is not foolproof, as it has to be consciously activated and has notably failed against the far weaker Tubalcain Alhambra, making it useless against Dio's unparalleled More than Mind Control, as Dio can just hypnotize Alucard, ask him about his powers, and force him to eject out his souls. And lastly, Dio can just Freeze Alucard on contact.
  • Mind Control: Two different types. He can hypnotize people just by looking them in the eyes, and he can transform his hair follicles into "flesh buds" that do the same but with more fatal consequences if the mind control attempts to be undone.
  • My Death Is Only The Beginning: Despite being killed by Jotaro in Part 3 of the series, DIO's will would be carried out by his closest subordinate and friend Enrico Pucci in Part 6 to create the Stand Made in Heaven, which allowed him to kill the Joestars (including Jotaro), reset the universe, and create the "Heaven" DIO so desirednote .
  • Necromancer: He can turn people into zombies and command them, though didn't seem to have any preference for it after coming back from his 100-year hiatus and gaining his Stand.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: He tries to pull off his memetic "...but it was I, Dio!" on Alucard, but ends up stumbling over it when he sees to his shock Alucard just casually shook off the damage.
  • Oh, Crap!: Twice, the first time realizing his knife barrage failed before getting mauled by Baskerville, and the second time (shared with The World itself) when he witnesses Level 0 be unleashed.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: As a vampire, DIO has strength, speed, and durability beyond what a normal human can achieve, drinks blood using his fingers rather than his fangs, and has several decidedly un-vampire-like abilities, such as freezing people on contact and Eye Beams made of pressurized liquid. He's also impervious to holy weapons unlike stereotypical vampires, so Alucard's guns were just as effective on him as any other gun would be, which is to say minimal at best.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: Dio's main weapon of choice aside from The World are sets of knives which when combined with the aforementioned Stand allow Dio to unleash them in excessive numbers. He especially likes to do this while his opponent is frozen in time and so has very little time (no pun intended) to react and defend themselves once the time-stop ends.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Like most humanoid Stands, the World can rapidly punch people to death really hard and really fast. After crushing his heart, DIO has The World finish his now-mortal opponent by blitzing him with heavy punches, the final blow reducing Alucard to a literal rain of blood.
  • Shadow Archetype: Both of them gave up their humanity to become vampires but whereas Alucard regrets his decision, Dio was perfectly fine with discarding his humanity for power.
  • Super-Speed: Dio and The World are comparable in speed to Silver Chariot, who the Death Battle researchers calculate is about 1500 times faster than light. This is vastly faster than Alucard, whose best speed feat is about 500 times slower than light.
  • Super-Strength: The World's strength is comparable to Stone Free, which could destroy meteorites pulled from orbit onto Earth. The meteorites' size and speed would have kinetic energy equal to 441 kilotons of TNT. This made Dio 40,000 times stronger than Alucard's best known durability feat.
  • Teeny Weenie: One of Boomstick's insults towards DIO during the rundown is that his quest for revenge was fueled by "small dick energy".
  • Time Stands Still: Dio's signature ability is using The World to freeze time, a power that increases in strength every time it's used. By the time he died after he was powered up on Joseph Joestar's blood, his time stop had reached 11 seconds and was increasing at a rate of 2 seconds per usage. It's a deciding factor in his favor, as Alucard had no actual counter to it.
  • Torso with a View: During the analysis, Boomstick mentions how Dio had three holes punched through his chest throughout the series and managed to recover from all three occurrences, and in canon, this is infamously how he managed to kill Kakyoin. In the battle itself, Dio kills Alucard with this method, reaching into his chest in order to grab his heart out through the back end and squeeze it into dust.
  • Villain Respect: Alucard puts up such an intense fight that DIO, considered a pinnacle of narcissism and selfishness, refers to him as the Vampire King, albeit he calls himself his god right after.
  • Weakened by the Light: One of Dio's biggest weaknesses is that direct sunlight or abilities derived from it can instantly disintegrate any part of his body it touches. Luckily for Dio, Alucard had no way of knowing this weakness off the bat, much less be prepared to take advantage of it since Dio's sheer speed and power meant it was unlikely he could last long enough for the sun to rise. And even then, as shown in a pop-up note, Dio could simply play long-range in the shade since his Stand does not share such a weakness.
  • What the Hell Are You?: Shouts this at Alucard when he unleashes Level 0.

Alucard (Vlad III Dracula)

Alucard: "I'm a dog? Then you're dog food."
Voiced by: Curtis Arnott

Undying Enforcer of the Hellsing Organization
  • Animalistic Abomination: Baskerville is a demonic dog familiar made from Alucard's shadow-substance covered in Extra Eyes that he tends to use to make people dog food. Alucard can only summon it at Level 1 and down. In the fight animation, Baskerville gets several good chomps on a screaming and horrified DIO, who only manages to escape being torn to shreds via a well-timed use of The World, though the after-analysis notes it's actually doubtful if Baskerville could have legitimately injured Dio given his Super-Toughness.
  • Anti-Regeneration: Subverted. The Casull and Jackal in particular were designed to be capable of nullifying a vampire's Healing Factor by virtue of blessed silver bullets and, in the latter's case, sheer destructive power to the point even a non-vampire couldn't heal easy from it. However, not only is DIO not vulnerable to silver or holy objects, but his durability and Healing Factor are far greater than even Alexander Anderson's, the man who Alucard had the Jackal created to deal with when the Casull proved ineffective, so really they couldn't stop him.
  • Attack on the Heart: His Achilles' Heel as upon unleashing Level 0, Alucard's Healing Factor is nerfed to the point that having his heart crushed is enough to kill him for good. Dio ends up doing just that, ensuring that his next death would be his last.
  • Death Seeker: It's explained while Alucard hunts monsters, he allows his foes to tear him to shreds first because deep down he hates himself and what he's become. Ultimately, Alucard's greatest hope is to one day be killed by a valiant human. Too bad DIO denied him that by killing him.
  • Discard and Draw:
    • At Restriction Level 0, Alucard unleashes the full power of the millions of souls he's absorbed over his centuries of unlife, all at once. However, since his Healing Factor works by consuming one of his souls to bring him back whenever he's killed, releasing them all in this way leaves him unable to regenerate. This proves to be Alucard's undoing as Dio is so powerful, he could defeat all those souls before taking out Alucard himself.
    • Consuming Schrödinger's soul gives Alucard the ability to manipulate his quantum state, effectively making him omnipresent and immortal. However, since being assimilated into Alucard's army of souls causes Death of Personality, and Schrödinger must be able to recognize his own existence in order to survive, this caused Alucard to vanish, and he had to destroy every single one of his souls in order to come back to life and enjoy the benefits of this ability. Since having access to Schrödinger's powers means no longer having the power to regenerate (which would be redundant) or use lost souls, he was not allowed to use it for this fight, and even if he did, at best it would result in a stalemate.
  • Dracula: Alucard's true identity is the real Dracula, AKA Vlad the Impaler, with his current alias just being a Sdrawkcab Name. He's the second combatant on the show to be an incarnation of Dracula, the first being from Castlevania.
  • Facial Horror: After getting hit by Dio's Catch and Return, half of Alucard's face is skinless for a moment before his Healing Factor kicks in.
  • Feed It with Fire: While Alucard's Level 0 army of 3 million is nothing to scoff at, the fact that it was made up of flesh-and-blood zombies meant that Dio had more than enough blood to stay in peak condition while wiping them out.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Alucard's pre-fight breakdown notes that he absorbed the souls of Tubalcain Alhambra and Rip van Winkle — two of Millennium's elite vampire soldiers — giving him access to the former's magic playing cards and the latter's magic sniper rifle with homing bullets when he unleashes Restraint Level 0... but neither of them show up in his fight against DIO. Not that either one of them would have turn the tides in Alucard's favor since they were nothing comparible to DIO.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Alucard's trump card is Restriction Level 0, which he will only use against the most dire of monstrous opponents that allows him to unleash all of his stored souls in an ocean of blood to overwhelm his enemy in sheer numbers. While Dio certainly met that threshold, the hosts explain each soul only has the power equivalent to a normal human being, so whether Dio was slaughtering all the souls in a mob or forcing Alucard to consume them one-by-one, the results of the fight would have eventually been the same regardless.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Alucard doesn't dodge a single attack of Dio's, but regens from them lickety split.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Dio rips him in half early on. This being Alucard, it doesn't stick.
  • Hand Cannon: His trademark twin guns Casull and Jackal, which were designed specifically to kill the supernatural and regenerators, and are so heavy and unwieldy that no normal human can hope to wield them. The Jackal in particular is 13 inches long and weighs 35 pounds.
  • Healing Factor: One of his greatest abilities, Alucard is practically impossible to kill. Getting blasted into swiss cheese, blown to pieces, or even reduced to nothing more than a puddle of blood don't bother him, he can just regenerate back to normal lickety-split. This healing factor is powered by the souls of those whose blood he drank, of which he has millions. Boomstick says that Alucard's regeneration is a whole new level of bullshit, which says a lot considering they've had the likes of Deadpool, Majin Buu, Wolverine, Dante, Hulk, Doomsday, Venom, Vergil, Carnage, Ghost Rider, Lobo, and even his own opponent Dio. While his healing factor was deemed superior, it ultimately didn't matter as Dio could kill his many souls in a short amount of time, or simply crush his heart while he's vulnerable.
  • Horrifying the Horror: In the animation's first half, it's pretty clear after Alucard goes Level 0, Dio is absolutely unnerved by Alucard's bizarre abilities.
  • Holy Burns Evil: Alucard's Casull is loaded with holy bullets to one-shot the undead and nullify their healing factor if they survive. The Jackal has similar holy bullets, but it's main purpose is in how the sheer power behind the gun and its bullets nullifies regeneration more than the ammo itself as shown when used on the regenerating-but-not-undead Alexander Anderson. Since Dio is a different kind of vampire altogether, however, they worked just as well as normal bullets on him, and his regeneration is a cut above even the type of regenerators the Jackal was meant to deal with.
  • Humanoid Abomination: While he has a humanoid form with blood and organs, he is made up of an ethereal shadow-like substance that he can morph any way he wants.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Alucard targets DIO as his next meal to feed on. In the end, his quarry becomes the one to kill him.
  • Hunter of His Own Kind: Alucard is a vampire who hunts down other vampires out of hatred and projected self-loathing. He needs no better reason to try and kill Dio simply because he saw him feeding on some hapless victim.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: With his Third Eye, Alucard can hit a bullseye on a target from a kilometer away with the Casull or Jackal.
  • Intangibility: Alucard can become intangible, allowing him to walk through walls. While it could give Dio himself trouble, as Stands like The World have been able to interact with intangible beings it wouldn't help him long.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: Dio finally gets rid of Alucard with a Stand Rush from The World, which causes him to violently explode into a shower of blood.
  • Master of Illusion: Alucard can create powerful illusions to fool his opponents. He uses this to psyche out Dio during the fight by taking his knives and then attacking him from behind with Baskerville.
  • Mind Control: Alucard can take control of anyone by making eye contact.
  • Mind over Matter: He can telekinetically control anything from launched human bodies, to battleships, to an ocean of blood from 3 million people (which would require kinetic energy worth .65 tons of TNT).
  • No Body Left Behind: Dio splatters him completely.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: He's the most powerful guy in his universe by an absurd margin, but Dio is just that much more powerful than him he couldn't win.
  • Out of the Inferno: One of the most impressive feats to Alucard's name is emerging from the burning wreckage of an exploded SR-71 Blackbird that he crashed into an aircraft carrier at full speed (Mach 3.2), meaning it had to have impacted with at least the kinetic energy of 11 tons of TNT, and by measuring the actual explosion could easily be up to 50 tons (though he likely regenerated from that).
  • Power Floats: One of Alucard's abilities is to float above the ground.
  • Precision F-Strike: Delivers one during the fight as a reference to a certain abridged series that Curtis Arnott voiced him in:
    Alucard: A real fucking vampire!
  • Punch! Punch! Punch! Uh Oh...: Deconstructed. Alucard's usual strategy of fighting is to tank an opponent's blows with his Healing Factor before striking once they've exhausted themselves and shitting themselves in terror. It works when he's the strongest fighter in his universe, but not so much against someone far more powerful than him, as while Dio is noticeably unnerved, he persevered until he finally does land the kill.
  • Red Baron: Known as the "No-Life King" and "Bird of Hermes".
  • Rasputinian Death: Given his absurd Healing Factor, Alucard can take enough punishment to kill a normal human millions of times over. Throughout the fight itself, he's torn in half, stabbed with a Flechette Storm, crushed under a steamroller before it blows up, smacked around and then impaled by a massive clock hand, has his arms frozen and ripped off, and finally has his heart crushed before Dio finishes him off by punching his body apart.
  • Stone Wall: Compared to Dio, he's much weaker and slower but his Healing Factor is more potent and he can use one of the three million souls he's consumed to revive himself whenever he's killed. This factors into his defeat as Dio is capable of overwhelming Alucard into using all of the souls he has through sheer speed and power.
  • Super-Reflexes: He performed a Bullet Catch with his teeth on Rip van Winkle's magic bullets, which could move at Mach 1504. While impressive, Alucard's speed/reflexes is measurable in magnitudes of speed of sound while The World can move in magnitudes of the speed of light.
  • Third Eye: Alucard has a third eye that allows him to see great distances, see through illusions, and predict his opponent’s movements. Boomstick even describes it as being "like the Sharingan". However, as it's never shown the ability to See the Invisible, it wouldn't have done much good in detecting The World.
  • Victory by Endurance: Alucard's bread and butter in the majority of his fights is to simply take everything his opponents can throw at him until they simply tire themselves out for him to capitalize. Unfortunately, this does not work on Dio simply due to Alucard being unable to match, let alone surpass, Dio in strength, speed or durability, while the latter can restore his vitality from the former's blood, eventually leaving him vulnerable and killable.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Due to his body being made up of an ethereal, shadow-like substance, Alucard can change his form any way he wants at will, including forming it into massive hellhounds as well as taking the form of a young girl (given the fan-nickname "Girlycard").
  • Wrecked Weapon: The Casull and Jackal get frozen and shattered to pieces (along with Alucard's arms) by Dio's flash-freeze.
  • Your Magic's No Good Here: Alucard has specialized holy weapons that are specifically made to stop the regenerative properties of vampires... however, Dio is not technically a vampire (not in the same sense as in Alucard's universe), therefore his weapons end up being dead weight in the fight.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: When Alucard drinks the blood of someone to fatality, he takes their soul. These souls become familiars that Alucard can summon to aid him in battle or sacrifice whenever he takes what would be considered "fatal" damage. This doesn't help him, as Dio was capable of killing him once for every one of those souls before Alucard could kill him once.

    Akuma VS Shao Kahn
  • Blood Knight: Both relish in brutal, bloodsport combat and tend to kill those who prove to be a challenge.
  • SNK Boss: Both are notorious, aggressive, and most monstrously brutal final bosses in Fighting Games.
  • World's Strongest Man: They are considered to be one of the most strongest and dangerous fighters of their franchises no thanks to the extreme amount of power at their disposal, relentless tenacity and might, and soul destroying abilities.

Akuma

Akuma: "Metsu!"
Voiced by: Philip Sacramento

Street Fighter's Supreme Master of the Fist

  • An Arm and a Leg: Ends up getting his left arm torn off by Shao Kahn before he's finished off.
  • Back for the Dead: His return was not as successful as his first battle, as he died by the hands of Shao Kahn this time.
  • Beard of Barbarism: Some of the clips used in Akuma's preview show him with his appearance from Street Fighter V, where he sports an unkempt beard and Barbarian Longhair that give him a leonine appearance.
  • Berserk Button: He sees fighting as a sacred religion that must be respected above all else. If anyone were to disrespect fighting though, then he will murder that person as disrespectfully as possible.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: Akuma embracing the Satsui no Hado — resulting in him becoming a nascent Demon of Human Origin — turned his sclerae black and his irises red.
  • Blood Knight: Even before embracing the Satsui no Hado, Akuma sought to increase his strength and power through causing death and destruction — one of the reasons why he sought to master the Satsui no Hado, which amplified his bloodlust until he was corrupted into a barely-human monster.
  • Cain and Abel: Has a massive rivalry with his brother Goken due to their opposed views in martial arts. Where while Goken rejected the violent nature of the Ansatsuken fighting style and developed a non-lethal variant, Akuma embraced it and further refined the Ansatsuken while combining it with the Satsui no Hado, to the point that he killed their master Gotetsu as proof of the style's superiority.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: As Oni, he gets his arm torn off, punted to the ground hard, have his face used as a heavy springboard for Shao Kahn's hammer, before having his head smashed in by his hammer. Oni's screams of pain only adds to the cruelty.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Despite being completely outmatched in terms of speed and power output, as Oni, Akuma was able to land several good hits in, gave Shao Kahn a Torso with a View, and almost killed him with the Shun Goku Satsu, just being stopped right at the last punch.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Despite his horrible acts of murder and a fighting style that revolves around killing as quickly as possible, he sees fighting as a religion and respecting it is more important than anything to him, even holding himself to a code of honor because of it. This includes never harming a baby, and sparing anyone who has an unfair disadvantage against him, or if someone respects fighting just as much as he does, or he feels that someone can improve.
  • Hades Shaded: As a child, Akuma possessed fair skin, but after embracing the Satsui no Hado his skin turned a tanned brown to go with his crimson hair. As the demon Oni, his skin turns a bluish dark grey.
  • Head Crushing: How he dies in this battle, with Shao Kahn slamming the Wrath Hammer on his head while he was down in a Gory Discretion Shot, crushing it like a grape.
  • Ki Manipulation: Akuma's primary ranged attack is the Gohadoken, a Hadoken augmented by the Satsui no Hado into a flaming purple orb of ki. He can also use the Kongou Kokuretsuzan, a downward punch which creates an explosion of purple ki powerful enough to destroy an island.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: While he is a ruthless warrior who killed his own brother, he has a code of honor and keeps his promises, as well as seeking to mold Ryu into his perfect opponent by having him embrace his Superpowered Evil Side. His opponent on the other hand is an evil Multiversal Conqueror and a dirty fighter who will cheat when an opportunity presents itself.
  • Morality-Guided Attack: Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu or Raging Demon, his Signature Move, works best on evil opponents as it uses the sins of the victim to attack their soul directly. While the hosts confirm that it would be able to kill Shao, the Kahn's reflexes would allow him to react quick enough to avoid dying one thousand deaths and counter Akuma.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: When Oni shows up, he subjects Shao to this, allowing the ruler of Outworld little opportunity to retaliate before getting a hole punched through his chest. Though Shao did manage to turn it around on Oni during the Shun Goku Satsu.
  • Oh, Crap!: As Oni, he gets a brief one when Shao Kahn reflects one of his Gohadokens back into his face, but his biggest is when Kahn tears off his arm.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Akuma is strong enough to casually sink islands simply by punching them, and even blast apart large meteors. Sadly, that was not enough to win, as Shao Kahn could scale to Blaze, a being who threatened multiple realms (worlds) at once, way more than anything Akuma has shown or scaled to.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Attempts a simple one as Oni. Shao Kahn doesn't let him get the killing blow though.
    "DIE!"
  • Power Echoes: When he becomes Oni, Akuma's voice gains a noticeable echo.
  • Super-Strength: He is of comparable strength to Hakan who can throw E. Honda into space so that he could destroy a giant meteor; a feat requiring over 500 trillion tons of TNT. He also scales to Mike Haggar who can piledrive people so hard it creates an explosion visible from space which requires 123.56 teratons of TNT. However, this pales in comparison to Shao Kahn's power.
  • Super-Speed: He is fast enough to get the drop on M. Bison who can dodge a laser beam fired from a satellite at speeds of Mach 5633.59. Shao Kahn is proved to be much faster with his relativistic reaction speeds.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: He has both his Shin Akuma form, effectively being Akuma unleashing all his power, and Oni, a form that represents the Satsui No Hado itself that activates when Akuma completely gives into it.
  • Superior Successor: Akuma killed his master Gotetsu and took up his beads as a trophy.
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: Uses the original form of the Ansatsuken, or "Assassination Fist", a combination of karate, judo and kempo into a unique style meant to kill your opponents as fast as possible; and also lets him use Ki Manipulation to fire powerful energy blasts. This is on top of the Satsui no Hado, "Surge of Murderous Intent", the literal manifestation of killing intent, which greatly amplifies his strength and the power of his ki blasts.
  • Took a Level in Badass: It has been a decade since his last appearance and Akuma has beefed up since then, gaining his more powerful Shin and Oni super forms for this battle. However, it's still not enough power to defeat Shao Kahn.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: When Akuma turned into Oni, he lost the top half of his gi.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Part of his code of honor is that he would never hurt a baby.

Shao Kahn

Shao Kahn: "I am Kahn of Outworld. Vacate my throne. Or I'll soak these sands with your blood!"
Voiced by: Gianni Matragrano

Konqueror of Mortal Kombat

  • Attack Reflector: His energy barrier can reflect projectiles, which he uses to reflect one of Oni's Gohadokens right back into his face.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In the original Mortal Kombat timeline ending in Armageddon, Shao Kahn triumphed in the battle of good vs evil and defeated Blaze, achieving nigh-unstoppable power that forced Raiden to pull a Cosmic Retcon via time manipulation to Set Right What Once Went Wrong. And, of course, he kills Akuma, who is admittedly, the Lesser of Two Evils.
  • Bond One-Liner: "Flawless. Victory."
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: Not only continuing Mortal Kombat's winning streak against Street Fighter, but he ends the losing streak his series has had since Johnny Cage vs Captain Falcon. The last time a Mortal Kombat character won was back in Season 4 when Sub Zero defeated Glacius. Also on a meta level, as this is the first time a character voiced by Gianni Matragrano wins.
  • Carry a Big Stick: He has his Wrath Hammer, which is used to smash kombatants to pieces during Fatalities. He deals a similar Fatality to Akuma by smashing his skull to pieces with it.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Unlike Akuma who despite his faults, is honorable in fights, Shao has no problems playing dirty in a fight, only caring about winning.
  • Composite Character: Averted. Unlike the time he fought Bison, his Mortal Kombat: Annihilation incarnations's dragon form and his Mortal Kombat: Conquest incarnation's sword don't come up at all, not even for Take Thats like last time.
  • Green and Mean: His magic tends to glow green, and he's a murderous Multiversal Conqueror.
  • History Repeats: Just like Shao Kahn's first appearance in the show, his opponent is a Street Fighter character with a super mode who interrupts his match and he kills them, involving his hammer in dealing the final hit on them.
  • Irony: His Bond One-Liner is also a line from Mortal Kombat but is only said if the winner took no damage in the fight. Shao says this despite the fact that he took multiple hits from Akuma and suffered a Torso with a View courtesy of Oni.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: He utilizes both martial arts and magic in combat.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He is proven to be much faster and more powerful than Akuma even in his Oni form. His superior speed also meant that he could evade Akuma's Raging Demon, a move that could destroy his soul.
  • Mind over Matter: Shao Kahn can levitate his foes with magic, which he often uses to render a foe helpless as he wails on them hard enough to send them flying and pulls them back in to repeat the process before they recover. He subjects Akuma to a rather brutal smackdown of this combined with his Wrath Hammer, though Akuma manages to get out of it with the Asura Senku.
  • Multiversal Conqueror: His ultimate goal is to konquer every realm in existence and merge it with Outworld. He actually achieved the power to reach this goal at the end of Armageddon, forcing Raiden to pull off a Cosmic Retcon just to give the forces of good a chance to fight back.
  • Only a Flesh Wound: Much like in Mortal Kombat 9, Shao Kahn shrugs off getting a hole punching right into his chest. Only unlike 9, he's back on his feet within seconds of the wound being inflicted and ready to resume the fight.
  • Physical God: Shao Kahn is strong enough to have repeatedly defeated Raiden as well as be considered a worthy threat against the Elder Gods themselves, and in the original timeline he defeated Blaze, the fire Elemental who in his own ending was capable of destroying all the realms on his own. This was the major factor in his victory, as the sheer destructive power that Shao Kahn could scale against trumped even the best showings of Oni.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Drops one when he counters the last hit of the Raging Demon before he rips off Oni's arm, his hammer nails his foe in the head, and then Kahn himself finishes Oni off with one last head strike.
"Feel the wrath of Shao Kahn!"
  • Punch Catch: Akuma tries to finish him off with the Raging Demon, but after taking a pummeling, he catches Akuma's last punch before getting the upper hand and killing him.
  • Reality Warper: When he invades a realm, he transforms it into a part of Outworld. The energy required to do this means that Shao Kahn's power is beyond anything Akuma is capable of.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Supernatural Powers!: When he failed to achieve the consecutive 10-wins streak necessary to annex Earthrealm as per the rules of Mortal Kombat set down by the Elder Gods thanks to Liu Kang, Shao Kahn just said "screw it" and launched the invasion anyways.
  • Sorcerous Overlord: As the ruler of Outworld, Shao Kahn possesses multiple magical powers such as telekinesis, barriers to reflect projectiles, portals, fireballs from his mouth, and most noticeably the ability to manipulate and take souls.
  • Super-Reflexes: He can match Raiden who is as fast as lightning. He can also react to the Elder Goddess Cetrion who can fire a laser from orbit at around 2% the speed of light. This put Kahn's reaction speeds far above Akuma's own and this also meant that he could dodge the Raging Demon.
  • Torso with a View: Akuma punches a hole through his chest, but he survives, having done a similar feat when Liu Kang punched through his chest in his own canon.
  • Treacherous Advisor: He was originally the Dragon King Onaga's right-hand man... until he poisoned and disposed of Onaga to take the throne of Outrealm for himself.
  • Unholy Matrimony: It's briefly mentioned how he earned a "traitorous MILF" for a wife in the form of Sindel after conquering Edenia.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Shao Kahn can do this as one of his abilities. He tries this on Akuma but since Akuma burst out of Necalli’s body when he tried eating his soul, it wouldn’t have done much.

    Korra VS Storm
  • Elemental Powers: Both combatants are heroic women who are able to manipulate their surroundings environment and are considered to be one of the strongest elemental manipulators of their worlds.
  • Fantastic Racism: Both experience it due to their superhuman abilities and try to find balance and unity between the two sides: the regular humans and the people with special powers.

Avatar Korra

Tahno: "Come on, little girl. Give me your best shot."
[Korra waterbends Tahno in the face, knocking him out]
Korra: "Chump."
Voiced by: Amanda Julina Gonzalez

The Master of All Four Elements

  • Blow You Away: Korra is able to use Airbending to freely manipulate wind, though this didn't come naturally to her due to her fierce temper and lack of patience.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Korra dies to a unique application of this trope, with Storm using her powers to blast Korra's brains out through the back of her skull.
  • Child Prodigy: By the time she was three, Korra was already able to use Waterbending, Firebending, and Earthbending.
Korra: I'm the Avatar! You gotta deal with it!
  • Deader than Dead: The fight ends with Korra dying in the Avatar state, which as mentioned in her analysis breaks the Avatar Spirit's cycle of reincarnation.
  • Death Cry Echo: Korra's final scream echoes out when Storm kills her.
  • De-power: With Energybending, Korra can take away another person’s bending. Unfortunately for her, Storm’s abilities were genetic rather than spiritual, meaning she couldn’t use it to take her powers away.
  • Dies Wide Open: Korra's eyes remained open and blank when Storm killed her.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Korra can use Earthbending to freely manipulate the earth, letting her levitate boulders, rip fissures into the ground, and create stone pillars and spikes.
  • Elemental Powers: As the Avatar, Korra can bend all four elements and has even mastered metalbending. This did give her a slight advantage in the fight, as she had control over forces that Storm couldn’t manipulate, but it wasn’t enough to turn the fight in her favor.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Korra figures out that Storm is far more powerful than any Bender she's ever faced, but her world doesn't have Mutants, so she ends up assuming she's an elemental Spirit.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: Korra can use Metalbending to freely manipulate metal, reshaping it at-will to do things like create weapons and armor.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: While a good person seeking to make the world a better place, Korra can be brash, impatient, and hotheaded, with her short fuse often getting her into trouble. Her fight with Storm starts because she takes offense to the latter calling her out on this.
  • Heroic Host: As the Avatar, Korra is bonded to a powerful light spirit known as Raava, the true identity of the Avatar Spirit.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Via the Avatar State, Korra can redirect lightning cast at her back to the caster thanks to being the reincarnation of Aang who has done so with Ozai's own lightning. In the fight, she's both the giver and the receiver of this trope. She gives the trope to Storm by doing lightning redirection using her own lightning storm. However, Storm then turn it on her by taking back the lightning and then returning it via her brain, causing her to die wide open.
  • Legacy Character: Korra is the reincarnation of and direct successor to the previous Avatar, Aang, having been born in the Northern Water Tribe and trained since childhood to use her powers. She is also the second avatar to appear on the show, after Aang.
  • Making a Splash: Korra is able to use Waterbending to freely manipulate water, letting her create Combat Tentacles, ice constructs, and massive waves.
  • Playing with Fire: Korra's fierce temper makes her a natural at Firebending, letting her shoot fireballs, breathe flames like a dragon, and even project jets of flame from her feet to fly like a rocket.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: "I know what you are, spirit of storms." However, Storm quickly bust free from her imprisonment and blast a hole in her brain with lightning, killing Korra before she has the chance to impale Storm with an icicle.
  • Reincarnation: Korra is the incarnation of the Avatar Spirit and reincarnation of Aang and all other prior Avatars, granting her access to their abilities when she enters the Avatar State... at least prior to her being separated from Raava by her evil uncle Unalaq and the dark spirit Vaatu, destroying her connection to them and requiring her to restart the cycle when she reconnects with Raava. This new reincarnation line comes to an end with her thanks to Storm killing Korra while she was in the Avatar State.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: It's noted in her analysis that Korra's life-or-death battles against the likes of Amon, Unalaq, and Vaatu all shook her confidence, but it was her near-death experience against the anarchist airbender Zaheer that left her with a nasty case of PTSD that took her years to work through.
  • Smug Super: Unlike her previous incarnation Aang, who hated the responsibility of being the Avatar at first, Korra loved the powers that came with it. Korra is also this compared to Storm as while Ororo is refined in her mannerisms, Korra wasn't above messing with Storm at the start of the fight, even having a cheeky grin during part of it.
  • Super Mode: The Avatar State not only boosts her powers, but also lets her draw from the experience of her past reincarnations. It has the risk of permanently ending the Avatar cycle if the user dies while using it. Despite the mode's power boost and knowledge gained, it wasn't enough to beat her opponent and dies while in it, ending the cycle.
  • Super-Reflexes: She can scale to characters like Amon, Zuko, and Iroh, who all either dodged or caught lightning, putting her at around Mach 200. However, Storm not only could fly at Mach 4000, she could also dodge beams of light.

Storm (Ororo Munroe)

Storm: "Testing me, hmm? It's time you remember why they call me Storm!"

The X-Men's Goddess of the... Storms... Weather

  • Blow You Away: Storm can create hurricane-force winds with her powers, letting her fly at-will, and can even remove the air from a person's lungs to suffocate them.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Kills Korra with a unique variation of this, using electricity to blow the top of her head off and brains out of her skull.
  • A God Am I: From the time she ran away from her life as a street thief to being recruited into the X-Men, Ororo spent her adolescence being worshiped as a storm goddess by her mother's ancestral people.
  • Heroic BSoD: When Korra knocks her into the spirit world, she is surrounded by innumerable spirits spitting racist, anti-Mutant comments at her. She is overwhelmed and falls to her knees in despair. Fortunately, she snaps out of it by the time Korra catches up to her.
  • The High Queen: Her analysis mentions how she was worshiped as a queen by a mutant group called the Morlocks, and eventually she became queen of Wakanda by marrying T'Challa, the Black Panther.
  • An Ice Person: Storm can create blizzards at-will, and even flash-freeze lava.
  • Long-Range Fighter: While no slouch in close quarters combat, Storm’s weather abilities are much more suited for attacking from a distance. The range and power of her attacks meant she had plenty of ways to keep Korra at a distance.
  • Making a Splash: Storm's weather manipulation allows her to create massive tidal waves at will.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Storm is powerful enough to create planet-spanning storms, her lightning can generate enough energy to restart an artificial sun, and she matched Polaris who is powerful enough to blow holes that can go into the Earth’s core. This is the decisive factor in her victory, as Storm had far more power at her disposal than even Korra in her Avatar State, or any of Korra's past lives.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: "Hahaha.... Exactly!"note
  • Semantic Superpower: She can control any phenomena remotely related to weather, including solar winds or the atmospheres of alien planets or alternate dimensions. This ability is a factor in her win because even putting her in the spirit world wouldn’t have hampered her for long before she adapted to the new environment.
  • Shock and Awe: With her ability to control and manipulate the weather, Storm is able to generate powerful lightning strikes to attack her opponent. She can even manipulate the electric charges found in a person’s brain. This is also how she kills Korra, via an electric Boom, Headshot!.
  • Strong and Skilled: Aside from her overwhelming power over weather, Storm is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat having once beaten Callisto, who has mastered every martial art known to man, and even beat Cyclops while she was depowered. This gave her an edge against her opponent, whose fighting style relies on a bit of close quarters combat and martial arts to begin with.
  • Super-Reflexes: She can dodge beams of light. Combined with her Super-Speed, she has far better reactions than her opponent, who can only scale to dodging lightning.
  • Super-Speed: She once flew fast enough to reach the edge of Earth's atmosphere from ground level in just a few seconds, putting her flight speed at 4000x the speed of sound. Combined with her Super-Reflexes, she's proven to be 20x faster than her opponent.
  • Trauma Button: Storm, despite all her powers, suffers from claustrophobia thanks to the plane crash that killed her parents leaving her trapped beneath rubble for days. Wiz and Boomstick do point out that while Korra could have exploited this by trapping her in rocks if she knew, Storm could've easily busted free.
  • Weather Manipulation: Storm is able to manipulate the weather to control the winds, conjure rainstorms, create lightning, create hurricanes, and can create storms large enough to cover the planet. Her control over weather is so precise she can create mists to hide in and instantly create ice at temperatures cold enough to freeze lava.
  • Worthy Opponent: She gives respect to Korra for the fight after killing her:
    Storm: You fought nobly, Avatar.

    Madara VS Aizen
  • Godhood Seeker: They both ultimately desire to find and control ancient, god-like powers and use it for their own nefarious purposes.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Both combatants are scheming master manipulators who orchestrated catastrophic events from behind the scenes just to further their own agenda.
  • Master of Illusion: Both combatants have extremely powerful illusionary abilities as one of their main and most devastating powers.

Madara Uchiha

Madara: "Now the real fun begins!"
Voiced by: Nicholas Andrew Louie

The Legendary Messianic Shinobi from Naruto

  • Ambiguously Gay: Boomstick describes Madara and Hashirama Senju's relationship as both a bromance and "ninja Romeo and Juliet".
  • Anti-Regeneration: Madara's Truth-Seeking Balls can bypass regeneration. This is a key factor in his victory, as he can bypass Aizen's Healing Factor but not the other way around.
  • Attack Reflector: Madara wields an armored gunbai war-fan that he can use to return attacks to sender.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • As part of his plan for world peace, Madara used a time-delayed Izanagi (a Sharingan technique that alters reality to undo fatal damage to its user at the cost of their eyesight) to cheat death after being killed by Hashirama during their final duel. He uses it in the fight to negate Aizen's killing blow.
    • Madara ultimately died of old age, but as part of his gambit to Take Over the World he saw to it that he would be resurrected. This is even referenced in the title of his preview.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: Madara is a bloodthirsty megalomaniac with aspirations of world conquest, and as an Edo Tensei zombie he possesses black sclera — with him beginning the fight in his undead state.
  • Blood Knight: Having grown up a child soldier during a period of constant war, battle was all Madara knew and peaceful co-operation between the different ninja clans didn't sit well with him, ultimately leading him to turn against his rival-turned-friend. During the battle against Aizen, he begins laughing while revelling in their fight.
Madara: I love it! The thrill of battle! The pounding of my heart! The taste of my own blood! I LOVE IT!
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: Madara is the first Naruto combatant to win since Might Guy back in Season 6 after two consecutive losses in Season 7. He is also the first Sharingan user to win his fight after the two previous users who appeared, Sasuke and Kakashi, lost in their respective fights.
  • Combat Hand Fan: Madara wields one capable of reflecting ninjutsu attacks. He uses it to match blows with Aizen's sword earlier in the fight, but he loses shortly after briefly falling afoul of Aizen's illusions.
  • Godhood Seeker: To enact his plan for world peace, Madara sought to obtain the power of the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the demigod son of the celestial being Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. To do so, he obtained the Rinnegan and tasked Obito Uchiha with resurrecting him once the Ten-Tailed Beast was reformed so that he could became its Jinchūriki, effectively making him a Deity of Human Origin.
  • Green Thumb: Madara can rapidly grow and manipulate plants using Wood Release jutsu, letting him create giant flowers and whole forests' worth of trees in a few seconds.
  • Guardian Entity: Madara can use his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan to conjure the Perfect Susanoo, a chakra construct that can go from a skeletal torso to a spectral tengu samurai. He first uses the torso with one arm, then upgrades to torso and two arms, briefly uses the Complete Susanoo as he's being sealed in the Hadō #90 - Kurohitsugi both to protect him from the space-time distortion and summon a meteor, and finally unleashes the full Perfect Susanoo to match Aizen's monstrous Hōgyoku Final Fusion.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: When Aizen asks him "You Can See Me?", Madara replies with "I can see everything." Aizen responds by Flash Stepping directly behind him, catching him off guard despite Madara using his Sharingan to try and track him.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Madara is a literal One-Man Army who can tank a beating from all nine Tailed Beasts and defeat all five Kage — including the Raikage A, who can move at light-speed — simultaneously by himself. Compared to Aizen, his speed and Healing Factor are around the same, and he edges out on destructive potential. One of the reasons for his victory were his Truth-Seeking Balls which could damage spirits like Aizen.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Unlike previous examples, it's heavily debatable which one of them are the lesser of two evils. Both have done many monstrous deeds, yet it seems to barely be in Madara's favor. Madara was a man consumed by his clan's hatred, but was a Well-Intentioned Extremist that sought peace, albeit through force. Aizen however, was a traitor to the Soul Society that sought ultimate power for his own desire to stand at the top (his reasons for helping Ichigo against Yhwach were never truly explained, and he willingly went back to imprisonment afterwards).
  • Magical Eye: Madara possesses the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, which allows him to predict movements, see down to the cellular level, sense the flow of chakra, and summon his Perfect Susanoo. His preview shows he also possesses the Rinnegan, an upgrade to the Sharingan with its own array of powers.
  • Man of Kryptonite: He is proven to have several counters to Aizen's abilities. Madara's Rinnegan could let him see Aizen and let him absorb and negate the latter's spiritual energy attacks and barriers. Additionally, Madara's Sharingan could let him break free of Aizen's illusions. Lastly, his Truth-Seeking Balls have also been shown to harm spirits and keep them from regenerating.
  • Meteor-Summoning Attack: One of Madara's most devastating moves allows him to call down meteors from space. He tries it on Aizen, but as Aizen scales to fighters who can destroy meteors themselves, he slices it in half and they tear it into even more chunks during the latter half of the fight.
  • No Body Left Behind: How he seems to die near the end of the fight after Aizen hits him with a point-blank Ultrafragor. Unfortunately for Aizen, it was in fact an illusion and allows Madara to set up his own killing blow.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Aizen uses Flash Step against him, Madara attempts to track his movement with his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan only for Aizen to appear right behind him. Madara is noticeably alarmed and quickly puts distance between himself and his opponent. A later case happens for one of his Wood Clones after a Truth-Seeking Ball it tossed missed one of Goryūtenmetsu's dragons before it chomped down on the clone. His most noticeable is when Aizen punches a hole through his chest from behind after catching him with an illusion, though luckily for Madara Aizen was caught in an illusion of his own.
  • One-Man Army: Madara can easily best armies of shinobi and even five other one-man armies — the Five Kage of the Major Hidden Villages — singlehandedly.
  • Playing with Fire: Can generate powerful gouts of flame from his mouth.
  • Power Nullifier:
    • It was ruled that, since the Sharingan and Rinnegan can be used to counter genjutsu as powerful as Itachi Uchiha's Tsukuyomi, Madara would be able to use his eyes to counter Aizen's Complete Hypnosis.
    • The Rinnegan's Preta Path was ruled to be able to absorb Aizen's Kido, letting Madara counter Aizen's most-powerful spells and empower himself at the same time.
    • As the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki, Madara manifests a set of black orbs called Truth-Seeking Balls, which can nullify any ninjutsu not infused with Natural Energy. It was ruled that these would enable him to nullify Aizen's Hōgyoku-granted Complete Immortality, granting him the victory.
  • Reality Warper: Madara can use Izanagi — one of the most-powerful Sharingan techniques — to negate fatal attacks and even resurrect himself by warping reality, albeit at the cost of one of his eyes.
  • Reincarnation: Madara is a reincarnation of the demigod Indra Ōtsutsuki‎, inheriting his powerful chakra and megalomania.
  • See the Invisible: His special eyes could see invisible spirits in canon, allowing him to see Aizen.
  • Start X to Stop X: Madara's big plan to end all wars forever basically boiled down to "start the biggest war in history in order to achieve an Assimilation Plot".
  • Summon Magic: During his climactic final battle against Hashirama Senju, glimpsed in his preview, Madara summoned Kurama the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox — the same entity later sealed in Naruto Uzumaki — and seized control of it using his Sharingan, forcing it to serve as an Olympus Mons-class Beast of Battle. During the fight itself, he summons the Ten-Tails and absorbs it to become its Jinchūriki.
  • Super Mode: By becoming the Jinchūriki of the Ten-Tailed Beast, Madara attained the power of the Sage of Six Paths — effectively transforming his body into that of an Ōtsutsuki‎. This immensely augmented his physical abilities and the power of his jutsu, and proved key to his victory against the similarly-augmented Aizen.
  • Unwitting Pawn: For all his scheming, Madara's plot for world peace was derailed at the moment of his victory by Black Zetsu, who revealed it had been manipulating him all along and used his body as a vessel to resurrect its creator, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.
  • Worthy Opponent: Madara is pretty hyped to be fighting to his limit against Aizen, laughing like a mad scientist as they face off in their strongest forms. When the fight is over, he acknowledges that the fight was "A wonderful dance."

Sōsuke Aizen

Aizen: "No one has ever stood at the top, neither you nor me. From now on, I alone will stand at the top."

The Soul Reaper Who Stood Upon the Heavens from Bleach

  • Ambiguous Situation: It's noted in Aizen's pre-fight breakdown that the circumstances of his loss against Ichigo and return in the final arc are unclear. Ichigo and Urahara speculate that Aizen was rejected by the Hōgyoku and stripped of his massive amount of power by it out of a subconscious desire to be normal... but Aizen returns more powerful than ever in the final arc. Lacking a clear explanation from the manga, Wiz speculates that Aizen only appeared to be more powerful than normal due to the sealing chair he was bound to having the unintended effect of compressing and amplifying his reiatsu, but Boomstick dismisses this — pointing out that he was still able to hold his own against Soul-King Yhwach after the sealing chair was destroyed.
  • Blood Knight: One of Aizen's subconscious motives for being a Godhood Seeker was the desire to find someone equal to or greater than himself in strength. While both he and Madara are trading blows in their One-Winged Angel and Super Mode states, Aizen starts laughing maniacally while reveling in having finally found a Worthy Opponent.
  • Breath Weapon: The fanged jaws on Aizen's wings in his Final Fusion form are able to spit purple energy bullets called Fragor, which create massive explosions when they detonate. They can also release an even stronger variant called Ultrafragor which surrounds the target before detonating. Aizen uses both in the fight with him attempting to finish off Madara with Ultrafragor.
  • Complete Immortality: After merging with the Hōgyoku, Aizen was made completely immortal — to the point of being able to rapidly regenerate from attacks as powerful as Ichigo's Mugetsu and Soul-King Yhwach — who can warp reality — punching a hole through his chest. However, it was ruled that Six Paths Madara's Truth-Seeking Balls would be capable of nullifying this in the same way they nullify the regeneration of Edo Tensei zombies, rendering Aizen vulnerable to being killed permanently. In the fight he was still vocalizing even after being reduced to a head until Madara destroyed it.
  • Cool Sword: As a Soul Reaper, Aizen possesses a Zanpakutō called Kyōka Suigetsu, the Shikai of which allows him to ensnare anyone who lays eyes on it and gives him complete control of their senses.
  • Death by Irony: Aizen attempts to end the fight very quickly at the start by ripping apart Madara piece by piece, which is exactly how Madara kills him for real at the end.
  • Flash Step: Aizen is skilled at the use of Shunpo, a Soul Reaper technique that lets the user move faster than the eye can follow. He uses it against Madara, outpacing even his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan's ability to track movement.
  • Godhood Seeker: Not satisfied with his already massive amount of power, Aizen spent centuries researching Hollowfication in order to find a way to transcend his existence as a mere Soul Reaper and attain godhood, and created the Hōgyoku — a purportedly wish-granting orb capable of facilitating that process. Implanting the Hōgyoku into himself allowed Aizen to ultimately become a transcendental being on par with the Soul-King, effectively making him a Deity of Human Origin.
  • Invisible to Normals: As a Soul Reaper, he cannot be seen by humans without spiritual awareness. He is surprised that Madara can see him with his special eyes.
  • Karmic Death: Aizen relied a great deal on illusions to turn battles in his favor. How does he meet his end? By getting trapped in an illusion by Madara.
  • Mad Scientist: As part of his pursuit of godhood, Aizen conducted experiments on Hollows and the Hollowfication process, with the group of Soul Reapers later known as the Visored being among his test-subjects.
  • Magic Knight: Or magic samurai, in this case. Aizen is not only skilled in zanjutsu — a form of kenjutsu centered around Zanpakutō, but is a master of kidō — a selection of combat and defensive incantations. He can use these spells to do things like bend light around himself to turn invisible with Bakudō #26 - Kyokkō, fire building-dwarfing blasts of lightning with Hadō #63 - Raikōhō, and summon energy-dragons with Hadō #99 - Goryūtenmetsu. His signature move is Hadō #90 - Kurohitsugi, which encases the target in a box of darkness that distorts space-time to tear its victims apart.
  • Master of Illusion: Aizen's Zanpakutō, Kyōka Suigetsu, puts those who witness its blade upon release under "complete hypnosis", giving him complete control of their five senses with near perfect illusions his victims are helpless against. One of its greatest feats in particular is trapping the Visored in its illusions for over a century without the group even being the slightest bit aware. However, it was ruled that Madara could use his Magical Eye to counteract Aizen's illusions, and that Aizen — who was caught off-guard by Shinji Hirako's perspective-flipping shikai — has no such defences against Madara's genjutsu.
  • Monstrous Humanoid: Aizen's Final Fusion form, obtained by merging with the Hōgyoku, is a humanoid Hollow-like monster with three holes in its chest, a fanged skull-like face with three eyes, clawed hands and feet, a Blade Below the Shoulder, and six wings with eyes and fanged jaws.
  • Not So Stoic: Aizen is genuinely caught off guard by Madara's use of Wood Release, and after transforming into his monstrous form starts laughing maniacally in delight at having found a worthy opponent.
  • One-Winged Angel: In order to attain godhood, Aizen implanted the Hōgyoku into himself, causing him to undergo a series of metamorphoses before crossing the Bishōnen Line after seemingly being depowered. During the battle, Aizen transforms into his butterfly-winged Fourth Fusion and monstrous Final Fusion forms.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Drops one as he uses Ultrafragor to obliterate Madara at the end of the fight. Unfortunately for him, he was caught in Madara's own illusion.
"Nothing escapes my illusions, human. Know your place."
  • Purely Aesthetic Glasses: Aizen wears glasses as part of his benevolent guise, lending to his scholarly aesthetic, but discards them as part of the reveal that he's an Evil Genius. He starts the matchup against Madara with his hair down and glasses on, but quickly discards the latter when getting ready to fight.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: His glasses have this effect before he discards them and starts to fight Madara.
  • Super-Strength: With his later power-ups, Aizen can destroy mountains as a side-effect of his sword swings, and his ascendant state should make him stronger than Kenpachi, who destroyed a massive meteor that would come out at 43.6 petatons of TNT. During the fight itself, he slices Madara's summoned meteor in two with a single stroke.
  • Walking Wasteland: Aizen's reiatsu — his spiritual energy — is so potent that he can vaporize weaker beings just by getting too close to them.
  • You Can See Me?: Aizen is surprised that Madara can see him, saying the trope verbatim, before quickly sweeping his hair back and discarding his glasses in preparation to fight.

    Saitama VS Popeye
  • Bald Head of Toughness: Both combatants are the baldest brawlers out there who also happen to be most ridiculously overpowered and totally unbeatable characters across fiction.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Both combatants are comical characters: Saitama is a Super Loser while Popeye is the granddaddy of the Zany Cartoon. But as Wiz notes, "their unassuming exteriors belie impossible strength."
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Being two incredibly overpowered Blood Knight's who don't take danger very seriously, they're pretty happy to chat to each other while fighting.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower:
    • Desiring to become the world's strongest superhero, Saitama began an intense workout routine that ended up making him so ridiculously powerful he can casually one-shot almost any opponent — to his horror, since 1) he lost all his hair in the process, and 2) he's a Blood Knight without any worthy opponents.
    • Even without spinach, Popeye possesses strength beyond a normal human. Eating spinach effectively turns him into a god.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: They tend to be pretty goofy, comical, and unassuming characters but when push comes to shove, they will pull out their punches very, very hard.
  • Groin Attack: In the fight, both of them perform a combination of this and Cross Counter, while we can see both feel the hit, it doesn't stop either much.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Who knew a somewhat basic (but very dangerous) workout routine and healthy eating would lead to powers that far exceeded what any human would ever achieve?

Saitama

Saitama: "I guess that takes care of that."

The One-Punch Man

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Saitama's training regimen would likely be both ineffective and dangerous: 100 push-ups and sit-ups would not give him much upper-body strength, while 100 squats and a 10km run would destroy his leg muscles, as doing this daily would not give them any time to heal and grow. His strength actually comes from breaking his limiter, as he genuinely believed that it was a good way to exercise and kept going on with it even as he destroyed his own body.
  • Bald Head of Toughness: Saitama's official hero name, the Caped Baldy, is in reference to him having lost all his hair as a result of his Training from Hell, which led to him becoming the World's Strongest Man.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Saitama pushed himself to become the strongest person in the world and succeeded, but found that he had become so mind-bogglingly strong that he simply couldn't find any satisfaction in fighting. In the fight proper, he does indeed find the serious fight he's been dying for, unfortunately, that is exactly what it took for him to get it, not that he minds though.
  • Bittersweet Ending: He loses to Popeye but finally gets the thing he's been pining for his whole career, a genuine fight.
  • Blood Knight: Saitama's greatest desire is to fight someone who won't go down in one punch. Unfortunately, due to him being the World's Strongest Man he has yet to find one who could survive more than one serious punch from him, and even casual punches are usually more-than-enough to One-Hit Kill most enemies. He finally finds his true battle with Popeye and couldn't be happier.
  • Boring, but Practical: Saitama lacks many unique powers, and his attacks are named hilariously underwhelming things like "Normal Punch" or "Consecutive Normal Punches". That being said, those normal punches practically One-Hit Kill anything they hit.
  • Death by Irony: He's the titular character of his home series, as his title states, he can defeat anyone with a single punch. So, guess what happens to him at the end of his battle against Popeye.
  • Death Cry Echo: Saitama's final scream before being turned into eggs has this effect.
  • Determinator: The true source of his power is his immense mental resilience. Although his training regimen was both harmful and inefficient, he kept forcing himself to go through with it out of sheer force of will until he "broke his limiter" and surpassed his ordinary physical Cap, granting him access to a level of power far above what an ordinary human should be able to reach.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Saitama's official hero name, "Caped Baldy", is this.
  • Forced Transformation: Ends up being turned into a bunch of eggs from Popeye's final punch, with one of them having his face on it.
  • Go Out with a Smile: Subverted. He is joyous to have a real fight again and goes into the final Punch Clash ecstatic, but he still shows fear (and screams in pain) as the damage goes up his arm and he realizes he is about to die.
  • Graceful Loser: While he loses the fight, he's absolutely thrilled to finally face an opponent that can make him go all out. His last thoughts are even a thank you to Popeye for the fight.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Saitama is fast enough to block near-light speed attacks easily and strong enough to defeat even the most powerful enemies in one punch.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Inverted: Saitama's standard moves are simply called Normal (insert action here) and the same applies to his Serious Series moves. But that doesn't change the fact that even a Normal Punch is still a One-Hit Kill.
  • One-Hit Kill: Saitama is so comically overpowered that he can beat almost any opponent with a casual punch. It should be noted however that this isn't some magical superpower. This is only because of the vast strength difference between him and the rest of his universe. It's noted that even if Saitama were powerful enough to inflict this on Popeye, Popeye's cartoon physics would let him come back from it, no problem.
Saitama: All it took was one punch... DAMN IIIIIIIIIT!!!!
  • Perpetual Frowner: Always has a frown or a neutral expression on his face, and even when he does smile, it isn't very emotive. Saitama starts to smile for real once he felt the thrill of a serious fight again in his battle against Popeye.
  • Pre-Explosion Glow: Downplayed in that he didn't explode but light pours out of Saitama's eyes and mouth in his last moments.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Saitama is able to punch fast enough for his fists to blueshift, a phenomenon that happens when an object approaches light speed.
  • Super-Strength: Saitama redefines the phrase, considering he can blast through mountains and meteors without even trying. When he puts a little effort into his strikes, he can deflect blasts capable of destroying the Earth. By using generous estimates, the hosts note that a theoretical truly Serious Punch from Saitama could hit with enough force to destroy Uranus (heh) four times over, and even then they fully admit that might not be close to his full potential, since by Saitama's own admittance he's never had to increase his strength any further than current.
  • Super-Toughness: Verges into Nigh-Invulnerability. Saitama can survive the ravages of the vacuum of space, being kicked into the moon from earth, and swim naked in magma, even squirting some out of his hands like a squirt gun to block an attack.
  • Training from Hell: "100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10 kilometer run every day, with no breaks or air conditioning!" Saitama's training regimen seems relatively lenient at first, but Wiz points out that the "no breaks or air conditioning" clause is what turns it into this trope - at least for your average salaryman. A sane workout routine involves making your body suffer and then letting it recover via hydration, sustenance, and rest; Saitama's workout routine excises the "let it recover" step in favour of, as Boomstick puts it, "ripping himself to shreds over and over and over".
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Saitama is completely unfazed by Popeye reviving himself with spinach, giving the same reaction to it as he did for Boros.
  • When He Smiles: Near the end of the fight, he gives a genuine one as he's finally experiencing the thrill of a serious fight once again after so long.
  • World's Strongest Man: Saitama is hands down the strongest being in his universe. And said universe includes a colossal giant who can stomp city-sized craters into the ground, an esper who can pull down meteors from outer space, and a monster who ripped a continent out of the Earth’s surface and started lifting it into space, and Saitama’s stronger than all of them without even trying. To put it in perspective, one of the few times he actually bothered to use his Serious Punch (which involves him putting a little effort into his strike) was in order to counter Lord Boros' Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon. However, this is deconstructed by the hosts, who note that aside from the existential crisis it caused Saitama, because he's so far above everyone else that he's never had any real incentive to fully maximize his infinite potential when most can't even keep up when he's not trying.
  • Worthy Opponent: Saitama is very happy to finally fight an opponent who gives him a proper fight, even if it costs him his life in the process.
Saitama: I never thought it would happen. A serious fight. I found it!

Popeye

Popeye: "I'm Popeye the Sailor Man~!" (toots his pipe)
Voiced by: Liam Swan

The Sailor Man

  • Blasé Boast: His response to Saitama joyously asking how he got so strong is a joyful and casual "I eats me spinach!".
  • Blood Knight: As the fight goes on, Popeye is clearly having a blast and enjoying it as much as Saitama is.
  • Bond One-Liner: "He took a big gamble, but now he is scrambled, I'm Popeye the Sailor Man~!" *toot toot*
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: His response to seeing Saitama's punch coming at him?
Popeye: (looking at the kanji on Saitama's fist) Hmm, I can'ts read that-!
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?:
    • He's shrugged off reality itself being turned off by his universe's version of God, the Big Jeep, just by eating his spinach, and then proceeded to force the Big Jeep to bring the universe back by challenging him to an arm-wrestling contest and winning.
    • He later would break the fourth wall to punch out his own animator, meaning that as Broomstick puts it, "he's fought two different versions of God and kicked both their asses".
  • Disappeared Dad: His father, Poopdeck Pappy, ran off on Popeye because he was so gosh-darned ugly.
  • Dreadful Musician: Boomstick thinks so of Popeye's singing voice, likening it to "Angry Cat Sex".
  • Everyone Has Standards: While his fist is something to be feared, Popeye is not a brute and will only ever fight those who clearly deserve his wrath. Or who scoffs at his spinach, like Saitama did.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: The reason Popeye decides to fight Saitama to the death? Because Saitama referred to Popeye's brand of spinach as "crap".
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: An in-universe example in that a spinach-empowered Popeye is capable of beating up his own animator.
  • From a Single Cell: Exaggerated, in that he doesn't even need that single cell to regenerate. Even if he's reduced to absolute nothingness, the nothing that used to be Popeye can just eat a can of spinach to bring him back into existence.
  • The Gloves Come Off: After jumping off the sun at Saitama, Popeye utters a single line that makes it clear he's done holding back:
Popeye: "That's all I can stands, 'cause I can't stands NO MORE!"
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: He briefly sports these when he counters Saitama's death punch.
  • Gonk: While his in-universe ugliness was enough for his father to abandon him, it really comes to the forefront for the audience when his fight with Saitama breaks into 3D animation.
  • Happily Adopted: When Pappy abandoned Popeye, he was taken in by Whaler Joe, who inspired Popeye to join the Navy.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Popeye's Toon Physics abilities prompt Boomstick to label him a "spinach-eating Lovecraftian abomination". Considering how he's a shapeshifting Reality Warper who can survive his existence being turned off, it's not unreasonable to describe him as such.
  • I Am What I Am: Says this word-by-word (in his own way) when asked of his identity by Saitama.
Popeye: "I yam what I yam..." (inflates his left arm)"...and that's all what I yam!"
  • Ludicrous Gibs: Reduced to that shortly after the start of the fight when punched by Saitama. Not that it slows him down; he reassembled himself after eating that can of spinach.
  • Mistaken for Aliens: Mistaken for Monster, actually, but it's implied Saitama doesn't see Popeye as human (he even calls him a "weird spinach mascot" near the end), judging by how easily he uses lethal force on him. Given Popeye's a weird-looking cartoon character with arms the size of artillery shells who emerged from the label of a spinach can, it's actually more difficult to argue that Popeye is human; Boomstick even calls him "Basically a spinach-eating Lovecraftian nightmare"
  • Motor Mouth: True to character, he mutters something under his breath faster than what the viewer can understand during the battle.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: When Popeye eats a can of spinach, he becomes impervious to any and all harm, to the point when even The Big Guy attempted to erase all of existence, Popeye basically ignored it. It's also worth noting that it's not some special kind of spinach either, any kind would do, even if it's from a young child watching Popeye's cartoon.
  • Oh, Crap!: Popeye has this reaction when Saitama throws a huge chunk of the ocean above him. So much so that he has both of his eyes open at the sight of it.
  • Older Is Better: The oldest fighter the series has covered up to this point, and also one of the strongest, thanks to how cartoons at the time rarely grounded themselves in reality.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: Having debuted near the end of The Roaring '20s, some aspects of his character haven't aged well, to say the least. Many of his cartoons from around the World War II era consisted of him beating up racial caricatures. Case in point, Wiz awkwardly changes the subject while explaining his "punch things into smaller things" trick right before a scene of his punch turning Native Americans into buffalo nickels.
  • Power-Up Food: His tried and true spinach, which gives him all his greatest feats of strength and Toon Physics. And any kind of spinach will do, even from our world. Hell, he explicitly credits it when Saitama asks how Popeye can keep up with him:
Saitama: Amazing, this is amazing! How did you get so strong?
    Popeye: I eats me spinach!
  • Reality Warper: Popeye is synonymous with this ability. Capable of punching objects and living beings into whatever he wants, like a bull into freshly cut meat, anchors into fishing hooks and so on. He could tear open his own animation strip and he could also knock out the very animator who's drawing him. This ability proved to be very vital for Popeye, as even if he was deemed weaker than Saitama, his ability to transform him into an object was deem capable of, ironically, defeat the One-Punch Man with one punch, since Saitama has never shown any resistance to said reality warping attacks, and this is before Popeye even eats spinach.
  • Returning War Vet: Popeye enlisted in the navy and is a veteran of World War II, fighting racist caricatures of the Imperial Japanese navy... as well as other offensive stereotypes and caricatures. He's also worked in a variety of non-military professions like construction work, frequently vying with his rival Bluto for the affections of Olive Oyl. No matter the situation, Popeye always finds a reason to put his fighting skills and/or Toon Physics-endowed Super-Strength to use.
  • Rubber Man: Being a rubberhose cartoon character, Popeye’s entire body is malleable and can be bent or stretched anyway he wishes. This helps him against Saitama, and he even gets stretched like a rubber band, allowing him to rebound and punch Saitama.
  • Signature Laugh: "Ag-ag-ag-ag-ag!" Laughs this way numerous times during the battle, including a particularly deep and ominous version right before he and Saitama have a Punch Parry during the 3D segment.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Popeye is rarely seen without his corncob pipe, which he can use as an improvised flamethrower thanks to Toon Physics.
  • Super-Strength: Popeye is strong enough to pull a canyon shut, punch a man so hard he flies around the whole world or changes its tilt upon landing, or hit a strength test game so hard that the weight flies up so high it gives the the sun a black eye.
  • Toon Physics: As a Toon Force user Popeye can warp reality, such as blowing fire from his pipe and punching people and objects into smaller components, such as punching a giant fish into smaller fishes or an anchor into a pile of fish hooks. Or Saitama into a bunch of eggs.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: During the 3D portion of the fight, Popeye is completely topless until it returns to 2D.
  • Worthy Opponent: It isn't to the same extent that Saitama eventually sees him as, but after Saitama is Punched Across the Room by Popeye and crashes through the store wall, Popeye sounds actually impressed that Saitama doesn't have a single scratch on him after that.
