- Book 1: Prince Ban and his sister Rikka Takanashi, the children of Alucard and Asagi, travel with their commander Evergreen through multiple worlds to stop princess Silica and her brother Roy Mustang from conquering their kingdom.
- Book 2: After seeing a vision of Mikan Tsumiki, Ban, Rikka, and Evergreen travel to the kingdom of ice named for the dragon Ai Hoshino. There, they meet Flamberge, whose siblings are Inosuke and Kiriha, and help her stop the tyrannical lord of fire Tiesel Bonne from the land of fire named for the dragon Kensaku Kira, who is assisted by his daughters Kiana Kaslana and Nui Harime, his general Roronoa Zoro, and the mysterious strategist Komaki Sakurai. Some time after Tiesel Bonne is defeated, Ai and Kensaku themselves choose Flamberge and Kiana, respectively, as their champions, and Komaki's warrior familiar Misaka Mikoto steps in as well.
- Book 3: After defeating Tiesel, Ban, Rikka, and Evergreen return to their kingdom where they are at war against Kaguya Otsutsuki's kingdom of the dead, whose generals are Kyo Kusanagi and Priestess. They are aided by Kaguya's daughter Aqua who told them that their lives, and that of all Askr, are in danger. After Kaguya's eventual defeat, it is revealed that Aqua is the princess of the realm of life named for the dragon Ingraham, and Kaguya's handmaid Akane Sawatari is out for revenge.
- Book 4: With Kaguya defeated, Ban, Rikka, and Evergreen find themselves in the land of dreams ruled by Amuro Ray, where they meet the fairy of sweet dreams Kusue Hakozaki. Amuro's kingdom is under attack from the land of nightmares ruled by Amuro's sister Lina Inverse, whose servants are the fairy of nightmares Kurami Zierh and the erotic dream fairy Minori Kushieda. Later on, they meet the daydream fairy Sophia. After Kurami is defeated, the fairies are transported into Lina's dream, where they meet Sho Pennywort, who serves the ruler of nothingness, Milo Yuelle.
- Book 5: The kingdom of Askr is attacked by a technologically advanced kingdom ruled by king Kikyo, whose siblings are Brief and Chika Fujiwara, the latter of which defects to Ban's side after her defeat. They then search for the forest sage Pit in order to find a way to defeat Kikyo, and are opposed by the jötnar princesses Aloy and Vanessa Enoteca, the latter of which has fallen in love with Brief.
- Book 6: Ban, Rikka, and Evergreen return to their home kingdom, where multiple villages have been closed off by darkness. Shortly after, they meet Pyra, the retainer for the god of openness Kazuma Kiryu, and are confronted by Sora, the retainer for the god of closure Sakura Kinomoto. They also encounter Silica's sister Luluco, the current leader of the Curse Directive, Embla's answer to the Order of Heroes.
- Book 7: Ban, Rikka, and Evergreen are given a vision of their defeat at the hands of the Time Master Umi Sonoda by the goddess Shinju Inui, who teams up with them to prevent that future and save her fellow goddess Fartooth from Umi's curse. In the realm of Vanaheimr, they meet the King of Vanaheimr and God of the Sea Njörðrnote , his younger sister Marie, the Goddess of the Land, and Umi Sonoda's past self Tomori Takamatsu.
- Book 8: Kanna Kamui, a member of an organization called the Healing Hands, is sent to assassinate Ban. However, after her assassination attempt fails, she joins Ban's team and tells them to save her sisters and fellow Healing Hands: the stoic Azura and the perpetually intoxicated Marulk.

- Book 2: After seeing a vision of Mami Tomoe, Noctis, Dita and Kallen travel to the kingdom of ice named for the dragon Miyuki Shiba. There, they meet Queen, whose siblings are Lucas and Nurse Joy, and help her stop the tyrannical lord of fire Jubei form the kingdom of fire named for the dragon Gelgar, who is assisted by his daughters Maya Fey and Lizbeth, his general Ulman, and the strategist Valkyrie. Some time after Jubei is defeated, Miyuki and Gelgar themselves choose Queen and Maya, respectively, as their champions, and Valkyrie's warrior familiar Persephone steps in as well.
- Book 3: After defeating Jubei, Noctis, Dita and Kallen return to their kingdom where they are at war against Enyaba's kingdom of the dead, whose generals are Alastor and Pomni. They are aided by Enyaba's daughter Sabuko who told them that their lives, and that of all Askr, are in danger. After Enyaba's eventual defeat, it is revealed that Sabuko is the princess of the realm of life named for the dragon Keiko, and Enyaba's handmaid Candace is out for revenge.
- Book 4: With Enyaba defeated, Noctis, Dita, and Kallen find themselves in the land of dreams ruled by Megatron, where they meet the fairy of sweet dreams Sage. Megatron's kingdom is under attack from the land of nightmares ruled by Megatron's sister Gumchi, whose servants are the fairy of nightmares Jeanne D'Arc and the erotic dream fairy Sekhmet. Later on, they meet the daydream fairy Para-Medic. After Jeanne D'Arc is defeated, the fairies are transported into Jeanne's dream, where they meet Karina, who serves the ruler of nothingness, Dorio.
- Book 5: The kingdom of Askr is attacked by a technologically advanced kingdom ruled by king Louis, whose siblings are Red and Anya Forger, the latter of which defects to Noctis's side after her defeat. They then search for the forest sage Kurumi in order to find a way to defeat Louis, and are opposed by the jötnar princesses Rebecca and Violet Evergarden, the latter of which has fallen in love with Red.
- Book 6: Noctis, Dita, and Kallen return to their home kingdom, where multiple villages have been closed off by darkness. Shortly after, they meet Deadly Doll Cliodhna, the retainer for the god of openness Max Morgan, and are confronted by Rohan Kishibe, the retainer for the god of closure Serif. They also encounter Lisa Lisa's sister Kirin, the current leader of the Curse Directive, Embla's answer to the Order of Heroes.
- Book 7: Noctis, Dita, and Kallen are given a vision of their defeat at the hands of the Time Master Soulweaver Lian by the goddess Parona, who teams up with them to prevent that future and save her fellow goddess Sadeena from Lian's curse. In the realm of Vanaheimr, they meet the King of Vanaheimr and God of the Sea Njörðrnote , his younger sister Shantae, the Goddess of the Land, and Soulweaver Lian's past self Strawberry Crepe Cookie.
- Book 8: Chiemi, a member of an organization called the Healing Hands, is sent to assassinate Ban. However, after her assassination attempt fails, she joins Ban's team and tells them to save her sisters and fellow Healing Hands: the stoic Ken Amada and the perpetually intoxicated Shinigami.
