One of the ten playable schools in Blue Archive. Suspended due to an incident related to the prologue and the Sanctum Tower, it is one of the smallest schools with eight students. It was originally an elite school, armed with the most advanced equipment in Kivotos. Unlike Valkyrie Police Academy, SRT was given special authority by the GSC president, allowing them to mobilize anywhere, at any time, to respond to crime. However, following the disappearance of the GSC president, the school became unmanageable, after which a movement within the GSC began to shut down the school.

The General Student Council eventually decided to shut down the school and the decision to merge SRT with Valkyrie was made. However, not all students were satisfied with the decision and refused to transfer, RABBIT Squad in particular holding a public protest within Kousagi Park while continuing to live there.

Reporting! SRT deals with these tropes:

  • Always Need What You Gave Up: SRT Academy was disbanded because without the GSC President to vouch for them and Valkyrie Police Academy filling the void, SRT was deemed a meaningless waste of funds. The castaways end up solving massive terrorist problems for Kivotos. The Dramatic Irony is that Kaya, the Chief of Defense, who was the primary advocate of the school's dissolution, and Ogata Kanna, the one running Valkyrie's operations, were actually key figures in terrorist plots; in other words, they became the very thing SRT was founded to stop in the first place. Kaya was almost certainly aware of this, not only sabotaging the GSC's security but also keeping SRT's defunct FOX team in her pocket for when she made her move.
  • Animal-Motif Team: The two squads introduced so far are RABBIT, whose members wear something evocative of rabbits, and FOX, where all of its members are Fox Folk.
  • Child Soldiers: All SRT students are considered soldiers.
  • Elites Are More Glamorous: Its students use state-of-the-art technology along with training that has produced the likes of FOX Platoon, which successfully arrested Wakamo herself. During Volume 4 Chapter 1, RABBIT Squad also demonstrates their effectiveness by repelling the Public Security Bureau's forces without much difficulty until Sensei steps in. This becomes a sore point discussed by Ogata Kanna of the contrasting underequipped, ever-outmatched Valkyrie students that drove her to make a Deal with the Devil.
  • Impartial Purpose-Driven Faction: Before Schale came to be, SRT Special Academy was the premier counterterrorist school with the notable authority of the GSC President to mobilize in any school district where others politically cannot. This brand of justice is what drew Miyako to the Academy as it is neutral compared to other policing groups beholden to their respective districts.
  • Interface Spoiler: Obtaining any of the RABBIT Squad students will show that leveling up their skills require Valkyrie Blu-Rays and Tech Notes; this gets an in-universe lampshade by the squad and Fubuki in Volume F, Chapter 1, where it's stated that the squad are using textbooks and other stuff that are borrowed from Valkyrie. This implies that their protest does not succeed in reopening the SRT Academy, at least not in the near future after they are introduced.
  • Military School: Natch, given it's driven towards counterterrorism. A lot of SRT training, doctrine and technology is no different from that of actual militaries.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: After the GSC made the decision to close SRT, some of its members rebelled and attacked the Sanctum Tower, injuring many GSC members. As a result, when Sensei attempts to gain support for reinstating SRT, nobody in the GSC is willing to back them up. Worse, FOX Squad blames RABBIT Squad for ruining SRT's reputation with their protest, which destroyed any chances of the members of FOX having a future in Kivotos. Of course, given that it was FOX Squad who rebelled and attacked GSC, they may have been doing it under Kaya's orders.

RABBIT Squad

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rabbit_squad.jpg
L - R: , Miyako, Miyu, Saki, Moe
Four first-year high school girls who are staying in Usagi Park to protest the shutdown of their schol due to GSC President's dissapearance.

They are the main focus club in Main Scenario Volume 4: Rabbit of Caerbannog.
    Associated Tropes
  • Adult Hater: When met in person, the entire squad is immediately distrusting of Sensei's intentions right off the bat during the start of Volume 4, Chapter 1. It takes the better part of the entire chapter for the squad to go from barely tolerating them to... well, at least listening to them. By the end of V4C2, they all finally take up Sensei's offer to shower in Schale's bathrooms.
  • Animal-Motif Team: The squad members all wear rabbit-eared headbands (helmet in Saki's case) and rabbit-themed accessories. Miyako in particular seems to reference rabbits the most, liking rabbits and comparing herself to one in her relationship stories.
  • Character Development: At the start of Volume 4, RABBIT Squad is initially very distrustful of the Sensei and too proud to accept their charity. By the end of V4C2, RABBIT Squad has gotten comfortable enough around Sensei that they have no issue making use of Schale's facilities when they need them.
  • A Day in the Limelight: After V4C2, they get a summer event, Special Summer Mission! RABBIT Squad and the Mystery of the Missing Shrimp, where they investigate a port over missing shipments of shrimp. At the same time, they're also characters in the Getting Over It-inspired web game, Climbing High! SRT-Style Bouldering.
  • Despair Event Horizon: In V4C1 Episode 11, their camp suffers from a heavy downpour, flooding the park and damaging what equipment they have. Miyako is the only one to try to salvage it while everyone else has given up from the constant hardship thus far. Then in comes Sensei, who helps Miyako clear the drainage ditch. The other teammates are inspired then to help, ultimately stopping the flooding and continuing their demonstration.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: The group as a whole reject all outside offers to transfer from SRT to Valkyrie for easier lives as they see it, including Sensei's own, although they gradually come to accept their teacher.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: When they first appear in V4C1 Episode 2, there is no team spirit between them; Saki blames other members for her problems, Miyako's orders are ignored frequently, and Moe tells Kirino she is sick of being with the other members. However, as the story progresses, they forge a strong bond among themselves.
  • Leitmotif: Usagi Flap, even if it became more associated with Aris in the ears of the player base (much to the chagrin of composer Nor). They get Up to 21°C in the Summer SRT event to make up for it.
  • Mushroom Samba: While playing Climbing High! SRT-Style Bouldering, the part before the end of the stage features platforming on mushrooms. The epilogue video explains that the entire event is a dream Miyu, Miyako, and Saki were going through after eating some suspicious mushrooms.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: During V4C2, it is revealed that the origin of RABBIT Squad’s name can be traced to a Trinity novel about a group of knights on a quest for the Holy Grail. The knights try to enter a cave guarded by a rabbit, and it rips out their throats. Eventually, the knights throw a grenade at the rabbit, and it ends up in little bits.
Miyako: I was wondering why we had been named after a cute, harmless animal. SRT was supposed to be the symbol of discipline and justice, not fuzzy paws and floppy ears. She didn't answer in the way I expected at all. Instead, she recited a quote from that novel. "The rabbit is not to be underestimated for its docile and adorable appearance. Proud and territorial, the rabbit becomes a fearsome beast that can fend off even brave knights when provoked."
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The four of them have little common ground other than being on the same team and pushing towards the same goal, otherwise spending half the time at each other's throats. Despite this their superior weaponry and actual military training gives them a significant edge against the other schools; it takes Sensei stepping in to stop them. When Sensei starts siding with them and helps clean up their act, RABBIT tears through any opposition like a chainsaw through butter.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Hot-Blooded Saki and Ice Queen Miyako respectively.
  • Riches to Rags: The main crux of Volume 4, Chapter 1; with SRT Academy closed down, their bank accounts have been frozen and they reject transferring to Valkyrie or any sort of help Sensei wants to provide, forcing them to camp out in Kousagi Park and live with whatever they already have. With the glaring lack of daily necessities like food and bathing supplies though, they have resorted to eating expired bento boxes, bathing in drum cans and scrounging for equipment since then.
  • Saving the Orphanage: The squad camps out in Usagi Park as a demonstration against their academy closing down.
  • Ship Tease: Implied with Miyu, Miyako, and Saki in the epilogue of Climbing High! SRT-Style Bouldering. All of them wake up dreaming of Sensei calling to them; Moe wonders why they seemed happy, to which Miyu says she remembers seeing Sensei—all three quickly refuse to elaborate when Moe asks about it.

The (unofficial) leader and rock of RABBIT Squad. Compared to her teammates at least, she's the most goal-focused of the lot.

  • Animal Motif: Besides her rabbit-themed accessories, she likes petting rabbits and makes a comparison of her loneliness to rabbits in her relationship stories. Her Meaningful Name is also a reference: "Tsukiyuki" (月雪) means "snow moon" and "Miyako" (ミヤコ) means "beautiful night child", which not only alludes to her silvery-white hair but also the Moon Rabbit in Asian culture.
  • Casual Kink: Heavily implied in her Swimsuit's 2nd bond episode. She and Sensei go out on a boat to sea to simulate a rescue operation for a bound hostage (Sensei) on a boat... except she realizes there's no enemies to fight. She changes the mission to escape and escort, but leaves Sensei tied up, just giving them an unnecessarily glad smile as she tells them it's to simulate real life.
  • Defeat Means Respect: Despite her vitriol against Sensei at the start, she admits that her own leadership skills are lacking compared to theirs after RABBIT Squad was defeated by them and the Community Safety Bureau during V4C1 Episode 2.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Compared to her Hot-Blooded teammates in Saki and Moe, and Shrinking Violet Miyu, Miyako treats Sensei very stiffly from the start, bluntly refusing their offers of help. It's only until V4C1 Ep. 11 when Sensei helps her fix the waterlogged camp that she is touched and lightens up as the rest of the platoon does, even thinking they would have been better suited to lead the Valkyrie Academy break-in during Ep. 17-18.
  • For Great Justice: She believes in this, having joined SRT because of its impartiality in doling out justice compared to other security organizations loyal to their own districts.
Miyako: Justice is the principle of being right and in accordance with reason. [...] Only SRT Special Academy has exercised the justice that it itself believes in, unaffected by any relationships with other schools or issues of profit.
  • The Leader: Of RABBIT Squad, though for the first chapters it's mostly a self-appointed role, as the others all point out that they're all first-years and openly question why they should listen to her. This changes during the raid on Valkyrie Academy, after the team gets trapped in the vault they were raiding. At Sensei's urging, they all decide to turn toward Miyako and listen to her plan. Once it proves successful, they're more willing to listen to her orders in the future, giving Miyako more respect.
  • Ship Tease: She's notably sweet on Sensei, coming a very long way from hating adults like them after the events of Volume 4.
    • One of her regular variant's bond level up lines is her saying she'll follow any order Sensei gives.
    • One of her regular lobby lines upon reaching a high bond level is to mention about how bunnies can die of loneliness, clearly using it as an excuse to cling to Sensei.
    • For her Swimsuit variant:
      • When RABBIT Squad are picking out swimsuits for their covert mission, Miyako very specifically picks out a very cute looking one, which Saki immediately questions. While Miyako claims that it serves to better blend in with civilians, it's implied the real reason she did so was in an effort to impress Sensei.
      • One lobby line has her say she's been waiting for Sensei. When asked whether she got cold waiting, it's fine because the wait for Sensei is well worth seeing them again.
      • In her Relationship Stories, she spends time together with Sensei, clearly comfortable being around them. In the 3rd episode though, there is one suggestive moment of them finding bunnies on an island, where, cut off from the mainland by periodical tides blocking the path there, they've settled down and had babies. Undertones aside, Miyako says that she'd be fine being somewhere unknown with someone she trusts, like Sensei.
  • The Stoic: Tends to be quite buttoned down, serious, and goal-focused compared to her teammates, to the point that Moe teases her for not lightening up more.
  • Stone Wall:
    • She takes the Tank position as a Striker student, although she's underwhelming in terms of survivability when compared to the likes of Tsubaki, Hoshino, and Haruka; Miyako has high evasion and HP, her 3-cost EX Skill stuns a single enemy and has a passive that boosts defense when using her EX, her Normal Skill fires off a claymore for damage, and a Passive that boosts HP—all this only really suits her for Hod's Total Assault where inflicting Crowd Control is a must.
    • Her Swimsuit variant has traded damage reduction for more evasion (her Normal Skill amplifies this more) and HP, with her 2-cost EX skill reduces critical damage resistance to an enemy and increasing cost regeneration after dodging a number of hits—her kit not just being great for Gregorius' Total Assault where debuffs are needed to damage the boss, but also on other contents where Cost cycling or EX Skill on bosses are needed, making sure she is not against enemies weak to her heavy armor.
  • Took a Level in Idealism: While she's always held to her ideals of justice, V4C2 sees her take a hit and try to compromise, only for a talk with Sensei reaffirm those ideals to another level. She even shows as much to her squadmates in V4C2E20 that she declares that there won't be a backup plan in the fight against FOX Squad because they won't need it to succeed; the faith put in their abilities is so infectious that no one questions it.

The most vocal member of RABBIT Squad, tending to stick to her training to the inflexible letter.

  • By-the-Book Cop: She puts a lot of stock in her training and SRT rules... which is usually followed by her running into issues once theory meets an unkind reality. Examples include finding a spade-mortar in her Relationship Story useless, and trying her hand at leading in V4C1 Episode 7 to 8, only to fail when she's overwhelmed by all the obstacles piling up.
Moe: She's got the theory down perfect, but when it comes to actually putting things into practice, she can't do anything right.
  • Death from Above: Her EX Skill has her rappel in from a helicopter, firing off a barrage and throwing a few grenades at a small point on the ground.
  • Designated Point Man: This is her role in RABBIT Squad, as she is always the one to lead the charge and draw fire away from Miyako and Miyu.
  • Did Not Think This Through: She tends to be a victim of this, as she'll come up with some grand plan that sounds great on paper but quickly falls apart in practice, such as her obsession with the Awesome, but Impractical 37mm Spade Mortar or trying to figure out the most efficient way to catch fish and somehow choosing the most impractical methods first such as trying to use her bare hands or explosives.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: She exudes this attitude against Sensei for the start of Volume 4 Chapter 1 before mellowing out a bit.
  • Fatal Flaw: Pride, mixed with some impulsiveness; she puts a lot of stock in being an SRT student like Miyako does and is good at her job, but this is hampered by her inflexibility and inexperience as V4C1 Episodes 2-3note  and 7-8note  show. She eventually does dial this back a bit once Miyako properly steps up as The Leader.
  • Flare Gun: Or flare signal to be exact. In her swimsuit variant, while her EX Skill animation uses it to view the deep seas, when actually used, she throws it to the enemy to reduce their attack, defense and critical resistance to an enemy. Useful against Gregorius and bosses that need defense downs.
  • Hypocritical Humor: During her interrogation with Kanna, Saki cited Valkyrie's lack of discipline as her reason for refusing to be transferred to Valkyrie. When Kanna points out Saki allowed Moe to waste all their ammunition in a defensive battle where ammo is scarce, Saki admits she thought it would be cool to see the explosion.
Saki: I kind of thought it would be cool to see it all explode at once. In training, we're always graded on how much ammo we conserve...
  • Never Bareheaded: Most of Saki's screentime depicts her wearing her helmet. Even when she's in the safe and secure premises of Schale HQ on a hot summer day, she won't take it off until she determines her mission is over. The only other time she's shown not wearing it is during her interrogation by Valkyrie Police Academy.
  • Number Two: She's not exactly content with staying as in the Platoon, being the first to point out that Miyako only appointed herself as one at the start of Volume 4. When she does take the reins for Operation Carrot (read: the mission to steal abandoned oil drums to use as bathtubs), her indecisiveness keeps her from adapting to the mounting problems of the mission, forcing her to defer back to Miyako. Later events of the Volume eventually give her newfound respect for Miyako.
  • Reliably Unreliable Guns: During Saki's L2D scene, she finds and attempts to restore a 37mm Spade Mortar (A mortar fitted with a foldable shovel head at its base for support). Ultimately the mortar proves underpowered and its shovel is next-to-useless due to the weapon's cumbersome nature. By the scene's end she ultimately abandons it.
  • Stone Wall: As the pointwoman of the team, Saki is expected to take the most hits and as a result wears the heaviest armor out of the squad to allow her to withstand pretty heavy punishment. However, this isn't the case with her playable versons, with Miyako instead taking on the Tank role.
  • Tsundere: Develops this attitude towards Sensei, post-Heel–Face Turn. By V4C2 she eventually shows her more amiable side, especially in her summer variant.

The very stealthy sniper of the squad, so unwillingly stealthy that she passes by anyone's notice and has given her issues in self-esteem.

  • Apologizes a Lot: Much like Haruka of Problem Solver 68, Miyu's low self-esteem has her apologizing almost all the time for just about anything she perceives is her fault, though not nearly as frantically as Haruka tends to do.
  • Blessed with Suck: Her lack of presence makes her a really good sniper, but it's also responsible for her grievances in trying to get people to notice her.
Miyu (1st Relationship Story): I was left behind one night... because the [SRT training] instructor left without realizing I was still in the training area... That time it got dark, and it even started raining... But, no one noticed me, or gave me any orders... [...] So gradually I was forgotten... like pebbles on the side of the road, unnoticed by anyone...
  • Feathered Fiend: When her swimsuit alternate uses her EX Skill, she catches a fish but is attacked by a flock of seagulls. Poor Miyu has no choice but to throw away the fish she caught.
  • Garbage Hideout: When she uses her EX Skill. Although, given how much she puts herself down over her lack of presence to the point she thinks that nobody might miss her, this is likely her way of showing how she's easily dismissed as trash, or how down in the dumps she is because of it, or both.
  • Hidden Depths: The event where she debuts her Swimsuit variant shows her to have a natural talent for fishing, helped by her lack of presence.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills:
    • Her third Relationship Story has her practicing her sniping skills, landing a shot on a target 1 kilometer away (1,150m according to her exact calculations). Her concentration gets to a point where she barely registers the animals swarming her, mistaking them for Sensei getting frisky while she aims until Sensei tells her.
    • During preparations for the raid on Shiro & Kuro in the Final Volume, Miyu casually mentions 35 km per hour-winds—which is hurricane force!—won't be a problem for her. Hina is impressed at how Miyu can snipe in such hostile conditions at twice the distance of her rifle's effective range, and Miyako offhandedly mentions that Miyu was able to hit a target at 1,980 metersnote .
  • Shrinking Violet: She's very shy and reluctant to speak up, having very little self-esteem from years of being ignored by a lot of people.
  • The Sneaky Guy: Not completely by her own choice, but Miyu is incredibly inconspicuous to the point that she's ignored by most people—heck, even automatic doors don't register her in her first bond story. While this does make her an excellent sniper and scout, it's also left her feeling very shy and almost shattered her self-esteem, because she rarely gets talked to even when she tries to interact with others.
  • Target Spotter: Serves this role to the squad as well, being the one to call in grid coordinates so that Moe can bombard them from afar.

The squad's operator and artillery user. Has an unapologetic thing for explosions.

  • Big Red Button: In her relationship stories, Moe talks about how she can't resist breaking taboos, such as pushing big conspicuous buttons she isn't supposed to. For example, she presses an emergency delete button that wipes out all of Schale's server data despite knowing exactly what would happen. Even her EX Skill animation shows her hitting a literal big red button to launch a volley of missiles.
  • Bomb Throwing Anarchist: She doesn't do this actively, but when interrogated by Kirino in V4C1, Individual Circumstances, she reveals her reason for joining SRT was to see how well its latest technology can raise hell. Kirino notes that Moe once shot up a shopping district before joining SRT; Kivotos probably would have had another Wakamo had Moe not.
Kirino: Kazekura-san, do you mean to say that the citizens' safety means nothing to you!?
    Moe: Yeah.
  • Cutting the Knot: In RABBIT Squad's first battle against FOX Squad, Niko shuts down the main elevator, correctly deducing that Moe won't be able to use her hacking expertise to unlock it. What Niko doesn't take into account though, is that Moe is also an explosives expert and is perfectly willing to just blow up the elevator doors, which is exactly what she does.
  • Didn't Think This Through: The V4C1 Episode 2 has her enthusiastically destroying a passing broadcast drone, using all of the squad's remaining artillery ammunition to make as large an explosion as possible... which comes back to bite them all in the ass when they need it for later operations like the assault on Valkyrie to expose the Academy's corruption.
  • Forbidden Fruit: Never put Moe and a Big Red Button (or anything that'll lead to any kind of destruction) within her reach. Her mind will tell her no, but every other part of her wants to see how beautifully—and messily—the dominoes fall, consequences be damned.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Uses up the entirety of her remaining artillery ammo supply to destroy a single broadcast drone.
  • Mad Bomber: She's got a certain fascination with explosions, to the point of seeming arousal at the prospect of creating a huge 'fireworks' display by using all the RABBIT Squad's artillery ammo. Her EX skill also reflects this, which involves launching barrage of missiles onto opponents in addition to burn damage.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: She is extremely fascinated with acts of destruction and terrorism, to the point that she appears to get aroused by the thought of spreading mass destruction and bombing cities into piles of ashes.
  • Wrench Wench: She serves as the squad's operator, mechanic and Playful Hacker all at once, so far having operated plenty of gadgets such as the squad's radio, a remote-controlled car and drones (especially those outfitted with missiles).

FOX Squad

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fox_platoon.png
L - R: Kurumi, Yukino, Niko, Otogi
    Associated Tropes
  • Achilles' Heel:
    • In their fight against RABBIT Squad, FOX Squad’s skills can be disabled by inflicting Crowd Control effects (such as stuns from Miyako, Moe, and Saki’s skills) onto Yukino, which upon her gauge being filled-up will disable ALL of FOX’s skills for a few seconds.
    • In addition, all of FOX Squad have Heavy armor while all of RABBIT Squad inflict Piercing damage, which means RABBIT Squad's attacks are highly effective against them.
  • Always Someone Better: When RABBIT Squad tracks them down, under the impression they're Kaiser-affiliated thugs using stolen SRT gear. FOX easily subdues the team.
  • Animal-Motif Team: Like their juniors in RABBIT Squad, FOX is all made up of Fox Folk, except they have actual animal features rather than just symbolic accessories.
  • Badass Crew: While they haven't been seen in action for the start of SRT's first story chapter, you know they're a name to watch out for as the students who arrested Wakamo of the Seven Prisoners on their own. The second chapter proper introduces their first operation to stop a major secret nuke plot by Kaiser, and their appearances in combat since then make clear the difference in experience between them and RABBIT Squad.
  • Became Their Own Antithesis: They've gone from protectors of the peace as top agents of the premier counterterrorist outfit in Kivotos to becoming terrorists themselves in the present day, attacking and sabotaging public facilities in False Flag Operations to ruin the GSC's reputation and allow Kaya to take over.
  • Broken Pedestal: All RABBIT Squad members have admired FOX Squad as their idols. But when they join their senpais in V4C2, Yukino orders Miyako to help with a terrorist attack. Miyako and her squadmates refuse and leave them.
  • Captain Smooth and Sergeant Rough: Respectively, Niko, a peppy member of the squad, and her cold leader, Yukino.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Part and parcel of them being professional is to have plans no matter the situation. A crowning example of this is in V4C2 Ep. 23, where they give RABBIT Squad a voice recording of Kaya rambling about her plans dating back to FOX's first mission under her, including recordings in the present, which implies they've been preparing to stop Kaya ever since the first time they betrayed their code of conduct.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Downplayed in the way they are not really evil and their standard does not stop them from committing terrorist attack under Kaya’s order, but when they find out that Kaya has sabotaged Sensei’s supply of convenient store bento, Niko, Kurumi and Otogi personally visit starving Sensei to deliver some inarizushi for their dinner.
  • Friendly Enemy: Despite technically on the opposite side, most member of Fox Squad (with exception of Yukino) are quite friendly and trust Sensei even when they just met. This is in contract to Rabbit Squad who despite Sensei’s ally initially distrust Sensei.
  • Insult of Endearment: One thing that members of Fox Squad agree on, is that Sensei is "as weird as they say.".
  • Irony: Thanks to their actions during V4C2, they and Kaya are now sitting in the same prison they once sent Wakamo to while she gets to roam free and help Sensei.
  • Man Behind the Man: Kaya is the one directing FOX Squad in their mutual goal to bring down SCHALE and allow her to take over the GSC as its President.
  • Silly Rabbit, Idealism Is for Kids!: Very appropriate given that this trope comes up related to their counterparts in RABBIT Squad.
    • All of them express this sentiment throughout V4C2, most notably Niko, Kurumi, and Otogi visiting Sensei and lambasting them for immediately eating their inarizushi since it could've been a poisoned gift on Kaya's behalf. They go so far as citing the Prisoner's Dilemma and answer that a mutual betrayal would be most beneficial—which makes them all the more surprised when Sensei is unmoved by this, countering that trust is more rewarding than suspicion.
    • In V4C2E20, their pessimism combined with being Crazy-Prepared plays a huge role in their defeat against RABBIT Squad. The first flag is raised when Kurumi worries that the rabbits will dodge Otogi's covering shot, followed by Yukino acknowledging the possibility of their defeat and ordering their retreat should it happen. By contrast, Miyako tells everyone that there's no backup plan because she has full faith in her squadmates succeeding no matter what. In the battle proper, Saki sows doubts in Kurumi by implying Otogi not taking shots at her means she's already been taken down by Miyu, which terrifies Kurumi into calling her sniper only to find she's holding back just as Kurumi told her to... giving Saki her opening to gun her counterpart down; Otogi is then downed by Miyu sneaking up on her, who could have only been detected by Niko, except she's guarding the elevator as per Yukino's worst-case scenario insurance; finally, as an inversion, Niko cut off power for the elevator to the control room, putting too much faith in Moe's hacking skills that she neglected her propensity for explosions, having no countermeasures or squadmates left to stop the incoming explosives.
  • The Unfettered: There's nothing they won't do to get SRT back. If it means working for Kaya and betraying their oaths by attacking the very infrastructure they once protected to slander the GSC, they'll do it.
  • Villainous Valor: In their final battle against RABBIT Squad, Yukino arranges for the rest of FOX Squad to evacuate in case their plan to hold off RABBIT Squad fails and she's forced to manually detonate Kaiser's thermobaric warhead. However, her squadmates have already predicted this and instead stay by Yukino's side so they can stage a Last Stand against RABBIT Squad.

The calm and cool leader of FOX Squad. She is known to be amongst SRT’s top students, though in the present, she leads her squad in sinister operations…
  • The Ace: Yukino is described as being the best of the best in all of Kivotos, basically being peerless in the field of special operations.
  • Blind Obedience: Enforced. Her rationale for continuing to attack public facilities and threaten innocents at Kaya's behest is that FOX are simply weapons who do as they're told and "a weapon that hesitates to strike is a useless one". It's also deconstructed, with Yukino's unquestioning obedience allowing Kaya to string her along with empty promises of restoring SRT some day, which Yukino won't ever question while continuing to serve loyally. Ultimately, it just gets her and FOX Squad arrested and thrown in the same prison as their boss.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Appeals to Miyako with this to get her to accept working under FOX against the GSC and SCHALE by offering to take the burden of leadership from her.
Yukino: Circumstance burdened you with responsibility you should never have had to bear. We're simply taking it back off your shoulders.
Yukino: You won't have to make such difficult decisions anymore.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Arguably her worst character flaw along with her Blind Obedience. She's willing to put her trust in Kaya of all people simply because she says she can reinstate SRT, even though it's blatantly obvious to anyone who spends 5 minutes with her that she's never going to do that. Combined with her unquestioning submission, Yukino passively allows Kaya to lead her squad down the road to becoming the very terrorist threats they once fought against.
  • The Leader: Of FOX Squad.
  • Mook Commander: In FOX Squad’s fight against Rabbit Squad, Yukino periodically buffs the rest of her squad, each buff tailored for their roles: Kurumi gets damage resistance, Niko’s healing is increased, and Otogi gets an attack boost.
  • Motive Decay: The start of V4C2 Ep. 1 has a Flashback two years ago of when SRT was just coming into the public eye, finishing a mission to destroy Kaiser's illegal weaponry, then Yukino declassifying the entire thing to a reporter on the scene; despite the reporter questioning the risk of doing so, the squad leader doesn't bat an eye and declares it's part of keeping the justice. Cut to present day, and she has the squad paving the way for Kaya's takeover of the GSC by disabling public facilities, which would lead to citizens blaming the directors on Rin's side responsible for maintaining them and weakening her position... but, as Niko points out, it has grave consequences for innocent civilians who need them too. Even then, Yukino dismissively answers it's not up to "weapons" like themselves to consider.
  • A Mother to Her Men: She may not show it, but she values her squadmates and juniors. Before she could detonate the warhead in Kousagi station, she has her squadmates leave for the surface to avoid the explosion, though they come back for her anyway. Even afterwards, Miyako calls her bluff to take RABBIT Squad with herself because someone who cares for SRT's future wouldn't destroy that future in her juniors.
  • Recursive Ammo: In FOX Squad’s fight against Rabbit Platoon, she regularly deploys a disc that releases a ring of explosives around it that detonate after a short period.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: She has black hair, red eyes, gloves, headphones and schoolbag, and is morally compromised enough to lead an attack on the GSC and run operations no different from terrorism to instate a cruel despot, and even detonate a bomb that could have resulted in death. She's at least a more sympathetic example than a certain adult who qualifies too, and eventually has a Heel–Face Turn by V4C2's end.
  • Schmuck Bait: Yukino only follows Kaya due to her promise to reinstate SRT. However, it seems pretty clear to everybody except Yukino that Kaya has no intention of doing so and just keeps giving half hearted excuses as long as she can keep stringing Yukino and FOX Squad along with vague promises.
  • The Stoic: Rarely emotes strongly and is always calm.
  • When She Smiles: Perhaps the first time we ever see a big smile from her is when she does so in V4C2E22, as she raises her hands in surrender to RABBIT and Sensei after the latter gives a talk on growing as a person before taking responsibility. In a way, it's the first time in a while she could let her burdens be taken over by other reliable people and feel relief at last.

  • Early-Bird Cameo: First appears in V4C1 at Episode 13, running an inarizushi stall, though she's referred to there as a 'Street Stall Part-Timer.' It's not until the chapter's end that her real name is revealed.
  • Most Definitely Not a Villain: Niko's first physical appearance has her running an inarizushi stall... while still wearing her full SRT uniform, complete with combat rigging and an armband, which alone should be enough to raise a few red flags. And as it turns out, she and her team are working for Kaya to destroy Schale.
  • Number Two: Takes this role to her squad leader, Yukino, notably being the only one to explicitly question the squad's goals, especially when their work in V4C2 Ep. 1 disables key facilities that not only soils the General Student Council's image, but also seriously impedes the lives of civilians who need said facilities.
  • Super-Senses: She apparently has enough spatial awareness that she can overcome Miyu's natural tendency to avoid notice.
  • Team Mom: Moe explicitly describes her as one as she's very kind, patient, provides inarizushi lunches to all the SRT squads, and acts as the emotional rock of SRT.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Inarizushi, as befitting a foxgirl. She's introduced making and selling them during V4C1 Ep. 13, then suggests bringing some for an impromptu welcoming party with RABBIT Platoon in V4C2 Ep. 1.

  • Blinded by the Light: Her shield is equipped with strobe lights that can quickly blind her enemies in front of her, as seen in RABBIT Squad’s fight with her.
  • Designated Point Man: This is the role she fulfills for FOX, hence her heavy riot shield.
  • Indy Ploy: She is very quick-witted and can often come up with responses to unexpected situations very quickly, making her the perfect Designated Point Man.

  • Drone Deployer: In FOX Squad’s fight against RABBIT Squad, Otogi can deploy quad-drones that debuff a target by weakening their attack or defence.
  • Foil: To fellow sniper Miyu, who can (unwillingly) erase her presence to the point only Niko could notice her, whereas Otogi makes her presence felt over a large area no matter what.
  • Friendly Sniper: As opposed to Miyu, Otogi is very warm and outgoing yet still excels at being FOX Squad's sniper.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: A rare weaponized example. When RABBIT Squad discusses Otogi's role as a sniper, they remark that she could make her presence known in a room; though a sniper getting their position revealed is disadvantageous in theory, Otogi makes this an advantage by putting psychological pressure on her enemies fearing a shot from her.
