Characters / Azur Lane Eastern Radiance

Go To

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/china.png

Ship Prefix: ROC (Taiwan)/PRAN (People's Republic of China)/None (Qing Empire) About the prefixes

Representing the Republic of China Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy, the Eastern Radiancenote  mostly consists of light ships which seem to focus on offense just like Sakura Empire ships, reflecting Imperial Japanese occupation of China during World War II and the Japanese origins of the Ning Hais, as well as China's historical difficulties in acquiring heavy warships in the 20th century. As China was one of the Allied Nations during the war, the Eastern Radiance is part of the Azur Lane alliance.

While often rather weak individually, in the right teams Eastern Radiance ships can be difficult to stop, and they place a tremendous emphasis on being fielded together, far in excess of any other faction. Nearly every cruiser has some kind of bonus to being fielded with other Empery ships, the Ning Hai-class and Yat Sen have specific bonuses to being fielded as a unit, and the An Shan destroyers also have generally synergistic first skills. The other notable thing about them as a whole, as noted below, is that they tend to vary wildly in playstyle between classes; this is a gameplay reflection of the fairly chaotic history of China's navy prior to the 21st century. This is the faction where you will, without irony, find 19th-century protected cruisers fighting right alongside guided missile destroyers.

Faction-wide Tropes

  • Anachronism Stew: As of the Chinese New Year 2022 Event, the Dragon Empery represents the most extreme example of this trope in Azur Lane, as their faction now consists of both the oldest (Hai Chi, a protected cruiser from the 19th century who was built and commissioned by the Qing Empire) and newest (although Centaur was built later than any other ship in-game, An Shan and Chang Chun's retrofits are explicitly their Missile Destroyer rebuilds from the 1970s, while every other ship in the game is clearly using their World War Two design: for instance, the Essex-class don't have jets or angled flight decks, New Jersey lacks anti-ship missiles, etc.) ships in the game. In fact, this is an Enforced Trope when trying to run a full Dragon Empery Fleet, the backline for which requires retrofitted An Shan and Chang Chun to be deployed with Chen Hai, a ship from the Warlord Era that was long scrapped by the time the An Shan-class entered Chinese service.
  • Artistic License – History: The Dragon Empery is presented in-game as a single, unified faction. However, the girls that form their roster historically served a wide variety of different Chinese governments: most of the light cruisers served under Chiang Kai-Shek's Republic, the An Shan-class were some of the first naval vessels for the People's Republic, Chen Hai was operated by Chinese Warlord Zhang Zuolin, and Hai Chi & Hai Tien were Qing Empire ships, with Tien sunk in an accident before she could serve any other government. This is likely due to a mixture of World War II-era China having very few naval vessels to work with and Manjuu/Yostar attempting to sidestep any sort of controversies involving what remains a contentious period of Chinese history.
  • Dub Name Change: As mentioned above, the English version uses Dragon Empery as the name for this faction. However......
  • Spell My Name With An S:
    • The faction name is subject to this in World of Warships, which uses Eastern Radiance in all versions of the game, including the North American and European servers, that are subject to the second round of the Azur Lane collaboration. Even before that, Prinz Eugen's 2018 New Years' skin has a line where "Eastern Radiance" is used, while one of the books in Z23's Eyecatch in the Rye outfit is titled Eastern Radiance Battleships.
    • There is a further, slightly unique problem for this faction specifically - because they are the Chinese stand-in, and because the game's primary audience is Chinese, when the faction name is listed in promotional trailers and whatnot... the faction's name used to be only ever given in hanzi. Unlike everyone else, including the Sakura Empire, this faction's name was, for ages, never given an anglo-romanization to go along with the hanzi, and thus we were left with only licensed translations and personal interpretation of the hanzi to determine the faction's intended English name. It wasn't until the Chinese server's 3rd anniversary that official sources in China itself finally began using "Dragon Empery" the same way the English client had been for some time prior.

Destroyers (DD)

     The Anshan-class
For the Russian version of the class, see Azur Lane North Union under Gnevny-class.

  • Balance Buff: When they were first introduced, the sisters were reasonably competent gun destroyers with a neat gimmick of cross-buffing each other. However, fielding all four at once wasn't possible, and they tended to get out-performed by gold-rarity ships even when cross-buffing. Flash forward to Lunar New Year 2022, and both An Shan and Chang Chun get their retrofits that turn them into, as noted, their 1970s-era DDG forms. This not only features a colossal buff to their gunnery (to reflect the updated turrets and fire control they got, giving them an additional Main Gun Mount in gameplay which is still buffed by Seal of the Four Gods), but they gained the ability to equip Missile projectiles, which not only behave like super-torpedoes in the vanguard but enable them to fight like battleships in the main fleet. It was, arguably, the most dramatic retrofit-based buff in the game's history to that point, and it made the girls immediately meta-relevant to any fleet composition and started the discussion of full or near-full DE fleets actually being viable (since being placed in the main fleet meant Chang Chun, in particular, could now buff the Ning Hai-class "Great Wall of China" or other vanguards, and both Fu Shun and Tai Yuan could now be fielded alongside the other two, with An Shan still buffing them from the rear if need be, and even without retrofits Shun and Yuan getting all the buffs meant even they could be more relevant).
  • Discard and Draw: The DDG retrofit isn't a pure improvement as on top of losing the ability to equip normal torpedoes and reducing the figurative mount by one, the ship's gun efficiency goes from 150% (the previous retrofit nodes do raise it to 160-170%) to 100%.
  • The Four Gods: They're meant to embody them with their designs having some sort of the beast's traits on them. Their Japanese skill activation lines also invoke them. This gets really obvious with their retrofits.
  • Irony: As ships, they often had stalemates with American ships. As KANSEN, they fight alongside them.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: In a way that would make the IB jade green with envy. An Shan and Chang Chun are the first ships in the game's entire history who can alternate between the vanguard and main fleets, with their gameplay changing accordingly. As vanguards, they behave like "traditional" destroyers, albeit exceptionally strong ones, and their missiles behave like extremely fast, tracking torpedoes. As mains, they behave more like battleships, with their missile volleys behaving like arcing battleship volleys while still possessing their potent gunnery for anything that gets too close. Their buff skills are also modified by their retrofits to apply to all ships in the fleet, not just the vanguard.
  • New Meat:
    • While not lacking combat ability, their lives as ships was without battle, making their joining the player's fleet the first time in battle. (This makes it a little ironic that they're the first ships to get guided missiles in the wider Azur Lane fleet.)
    • This also led to Ulrich von Hutten being stunned to find them in the Gneisenau META singularity, since not only had she (or any IB) not heard that they possessed missile technology, but had no idea the girls even knew how to reach the place they were or had enough experience fighting to defend themselves.
  • Red Baron: The Four Devas, fitting their motifs.
  • Siblings in Crime: Fu Shun and Chang Chun work together to smuggle things. Some of Fu Shun and Tai Yuan's lines imply Yuan's involved, too, but is dragged into it by her sisters, rather than being a willing participant. Chang Chun's involvement could be summed up as her being naive. (Maybe.)
  • Stance System: As DD Gs, their row can be switched for 200 coins each, each with their own stat tweaks with backline losing some evade but gain some Hit points.

An Shan (101)*

"Destroyer, An Shan, reporting for duty! I shall protect my sisters and you, Commander!"

  • Animal Motif: The Azure Dragon, shown by the horns on her head, her long ponytail, and the blue caplet she wears. Her green hair color probably also counts, as the Azure Dragon is known by the name Green Dragon as well.
  • Covert Pervert: Her problem isn't that the Commander is groping her, she's fine with it. It's the possibility of her sisters seeing them she's worried about.
  • The Leader: Is the most serious of them, though this boils down to trying to stop Fu Shun's trouble-making and trying to help Tai Yuan be braver. Her support skill is even named "An Shan Lead Ship" which boosts her and her sisters's accuracy, firepower, and evasion. She does take a more obvious squadron leader role in her and Chang Chun's brief appearance in Tower of Transcendence, however.
  • Not So Above It All: In "Fu Shun's Great Adventure," she chastises Fu Shun messing around like usual (this time with an old broken game console), but it's revealed that it belonged to An Shan in the first place, still featuring her high score.

Chang Chun (103)*

"Destroyer Chang Chun has arrived〜 I'm not particularly sensitive to the cold, it's just that thick clothes are warm and comfy."

  • Animal Motif: The White Tiger, shown by her cat-eared hood in the same colors.
  • Coat Full of Contraband: Her lines imply that she uses her coat to hide things for Fu Shun.
  • Historical In-Joke: As a reference to her originally being a Soviet ship, her Mutual Assistance support skill provides buffs to both Dragon Empery and Northern Union ships.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: She is most definitely not hiding the stuff Fu Shun secretly bought.

Fu Shun (102)*

"Destroyer Fu Shun, reporting in! Uhh... where's Chang Chun? She was clearly behind me just a minute ago..."

  • Animal Motif: The Crimson Bird, shown by the small red wings on her legs and red twintails resembling feathery wings.
  • Critical Hit Class: Her "Rezkiy Assualt" skill boosts her critical hit rate.
  • Historical In-Joke: A subtle one in the in-game one-panel comic Grounded, but Not Forgotten, where it framed Fu Shun blowing to the sky strapped to her fireworks while her sisters watched. In real life, of all the four An Shans, only Fu Shun was scrapped while the other three either became museum ships (An Shan, Chang Chun) or a training ship (Tai Yuan)
  • The Prankster: She tries to pull some pretty extreme pranks (one involves a rocket).
  • Shout-Out: Her lines contain a number of references to Dragon Ball Z, including mentioning her power level, and that this isn't even her final form.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Several.
    • She's just scratching her back. She's definitely not hiding anything.
    • She didn't break anything. All the windows in the academy were broken by evil spirits... probably.

Tai Yuan (104)*

"De-destroyer Tai Yuan has arrived... Have you seen my sisters around, commander?"

  • Animal Motif: The Black Tortoise/White Snake, shown by a small snake on her leg and her rigging being akin to a shell.
  • Badass Bookworm: She's a destroyer who reads a lot, to the point that she remarks that she finds the "Nuclear Physics Hypothesis" to be an interesting book.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: While pretty to begin with, she becomes much more so in her Lunar New Year skin, which she made herself.
  • Status Buff: Gets one in a full (6 ship) fleet.

Light Cruisers (CL)

  • Magikarp Power: Twice over. These ships really need full investment to see their worth:
    • Before retrofit, the Ning Hai-class ships are unremarkable cruisers with paper-thin defenses, even with their skill buffs. Their remodel and added skill increase their effectiveness to a considerable degree.
    • Even after remodeling a Ning Hai class ship, their individual value isn't too high, but by putting the sisters in a team, their general damage increases and add in Yat Sen, and you end up with a frontline that at least is very hard to take down in most cases if not also being able to dish out some decent damage.
    • The newer Chao Ho-class ships follow this trend. While they do not have retrofits and thus do not need quite as much investment as the Ning Hai-class, they nonetheless require significant skill book investment due to their poor stats and efficiencies.

     The Ning Hai-class

  • Glass Cannon: After retrofit, they each have three skills that, in the right situation, can give them a Firepower stat that rivals battleships. However, they have no defensive abilities, as well as some of the lowest health of any light cruisers.
  • Historical In-Joke: The noticeable difference in their chest size references how Ning Hai was historically the more top heavy of the two ships due to the floatplane hangar and other equipment that Ping Hai lacked.
  • I Know Kung Fu: Their poses often have them in a kung-fu-like pose.
  • Moveset Clone: Downplayed. While their skills are identical and most of their stats are the same, Ning Hai has a notable 32 extra Anti-Air stat at all levels (in addition to relatively-minor buffed stats in 32 extra HP, 2 speed, and 4 Luck).
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Meat buns, both sisters like them very much.

"You're the Commander? I will be coaching you from now on. You will perform your tasks proper-… A baozi! (Clears throat) A-a meat bun? Th-thanks, I'll have one."

  • Gold Digger: Seems very mindful of money, and insists on her sister seeking a rich guy than a good one.
  • Miser Advisor: Tries to control the base's finances, but use of Meat Buns hinders that.

"Commander? My sister told me we should search for a commander who can support us. You can do that, right, Commander?"

  • Big Sister Worship: Thinks highly of her sister, following her every word. Some of her lines heavily imply her sister is attempting to control her. Her Pledge line has her making a choice of her own (being with the commander) for once.
  • The Ditz: Not particularly bright, with a key example of how she flubs her introduction line.
  • Gold Digger: Defied - Her lines show that in spite of her sister's efforts, she likes the commander for who he is than his money.

     The Yat Sen-class

Yat Sen

Yat Sen(Retrofit)

ID: No. 257
Rarity: Elite
Artist: kishiyo

"This moment has finally come......I'm Yat Sen from the First Fleet of the Eastern Radiance, please allow me to serve you again."
  • Cool Big Sister: Considers herself this to her fellow ships.
  • Fanservice Pack: Her cup size goes up a few letters in her retrofit.
  • Historical In-Joke: She makes a number of references to her having to leave her sisters, and promising not to leave the commander. This refers to the fact that, after having been sunk, she was salvaged by the Japanese and used as a training ship, before being returned to the ROCN after the war.
  • Stone Wall: You wouldn't think so just looking at her stats, but post-retrofit Yat Sen becomes surprisingly resiliant. Her skills reduce any incoming damage by a hefty 25% for her and grant her a bonus 30% Evasion, while her unique aux gear grants her over 500 additional HP and a 5% of HP shield for five battles every sortie.
  • Support Party Member: Buffs the Ning Hai ships' stats, partially reinforced by her own terrible stats — she has the lowest raw HP and second-lowest Firepower of all light cruisers in the game, though she has high anti-air.

     The Chao Ho-class

  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: The only ships in the game that can equip light cruiser guns, destroyer guns, and torpedoes all at the same time. The light cruiser gun also gets a Main Gun Mount +1 upgrade. Between all that and their guaranteed timed barrage, their ability to fill the screen with hurt is hard to match. However, they have a laughably low firepower stat and weapon efficiencies to keep them from being too busted. Three surface weapon slots also means they completely lack the ability to equip Anti-Air Guns.
  • Moveset Clone: Just like the Ning Hai class, downplayed. They both have identical weapon loadouts and efficiencies, Firepower, Torpedo, Accuracy, Evasion, Speed, and even Luck (the most common way Manjuu averts this trope with ships of the same class). However, Chao Ho's second skill boosts Anti-Sub Warfare, while Ying Swei's boosts Anti-Air. Chao Ho also has a bit more HP and a bit less Anti-Air than her sister.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Chao Ho's red to Ying Swei's blue.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang:
  • Sibling Team: Downplayed since the full effects of their second skills trigger just by having any other Dragon Empery ship sortied. While you can certainly use them as a sibling team, their skill is more flexible than their predecessors'.

"I'm Chao Ho, lead ship of the Chao Ho-class cruisers! Don't you forget it! Oh, and no matter what Ying Swei says, don't let her trick you into thinking I'm the little sister!"

  • Book Dumb: To the extent she has a hard time remembering her own service record and technical specs.
  • Childish Older Sibling: Significantly easier to annoy than Ying Swei, and gets easily frustrated with having to remember her own history or deal with public relations. She gets quite annoyed when people consider her the little sister as a result, especially when Ying Swei does nothing but encourage it by claiming she is the older sister.Historical Context
  • Combat Hand Fan: A rather large one, with a gun battery attached to it.
  • Dancing Royalty: While reading and writing are not her strong suits, she mentions working on her dance routine a few times.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Attempts to do this when a battle starts, but flubs her line and just verbally stumbles into just yelling at her opponent to die.
  • Tsundere: Right up there with Hammann and Admiral Hipper.
Chao Ho: H-how long are you going to keep dawdling around in front of me? Can you just sit down and get your work done?! Eh? ...What the heck are you saying?! It's not like I really care what you're doing or anything...!
  • Sibling Rivalry: One-sided on her part. Even then, it's less about being a rival to her sister and more about her not wanting to be compared unfavorably to her by others.

    The Hai Chi Class

  • Older Than They Look: Both Hai Chi and Hai Tien are this considering they were laid down under the Qing Dynasty.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Hai Chi wears red and is the more active of the pair, while Hai Tien wears blue and is more reserved.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Hai Chi is bubbly, dark-haired and confident, while Hai Tien is reserved, white haired and prefers to stay inside.

  • Historical In-Joke: Her love of taking trips references her lengthy travel record around the world, since she made stops in America, Mexico and Cuba and was the first Imperial Chinese ship in American waters.
  • Peking Opera: She's a fan, and several of her voice lines make reference to it.
  • Tsurime Eyes: In contrast to her sister.

"Pleased to meet you, Commander. I am Hai Tien of the Dragon Empery. As a newcomer who knows not the customs of this place, please bear with me should I make any blunders."

  • Born Unlucky: She was only active for five years until she ran into a rocky outcropping and had to be scuttled. She references this in one of her voice lines.
"There's not much to say about my past except perhaps... that fate was unkind to me."
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She wears a single white thigh high stocking on her right leg.
  • Love at First Sight: Her appearance in A Bump in the Rainy Night implies this, with one of the desicions leading the Commander to discover a misplaced book of poetry she wrote, which includes lovey-dovey lines such as 'The lady in white's heart has belonged to this person since the day they first met. Alas, she lacks the courage to profess this love of hers...'
  • Meaningful Appearance: Her hair is white but with black at the tips, likely to invoke the image of a paintbrush.
  • Tareme Eyes: In contrast to her sister.

     The Harbin-class

"The name's Harbin, Dragon Empery light cruiser. You're the Commander of this joint? Hrmm... I like the look in your eyes, and your bod's not half-bad either... Good stuff! From now on, you're rollin' with me!"

The personification of the People's Liberation Army Navy light cruiser Harbin, who was added as part of the fifth Research ship collaboration with World of Warships. She is the first Dragon Empery shipgirl to be released with a base rarity of Super Rare/Priority and the first of her faction to be added in Priority Research.

  • Animal-Eared Headband: Sports one in her Union Between Sea and Sky summer skin.
  • Artistic License – History: The design used to create Harbin originated from the "MK-6" specifications of a World War II Soviet anti-air cruiser project, which comprised of four proposals starting with "MK-3." In World of Warships, she represents a completed form that is used by the PLAN.
  • Badass Longcoat: Wears a large coat with fur lining on the front and intricate floral art on the inside. It also holds her ship rigging.
  • Blood Knight: Her love of fighting is made apparent with how many lines bring it up and is hard-pressed to back down if her defeat lines are any indication. Even in her summer skin she responds to being touched by asking the Commander if they want to water-wrestle.
  • Boobs-and-Butt Pose: Union Between Sea and Sky presents Harbin's incredible figure at a 3/4 body angle.
  • Costume Evolution: An unlisted change in the Spring Breeze Leisure rerun update on February 2023 included updated rigging art for Harbin. The ornamental pieces of her coat are now instead full-blown ship rigging mounting her twin 130mm Model 1938 guns and torpedo launchers.
  • Gathering Steam: Part of Harbin's offensive skill, Blazing Battledance, is a 20% chance on taking damage to gain up to 4% Firepower and Anti-Air and up to 5% Torpedo with a stack limit of three.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Might be her second-favorite thing next to fighting. Whether it's with the Commander or other shipgirls, Harbin is down to spend time in banquets, having drinks, and otherwise having a good time.
  • Love at First Sight: Though not explicitly mentioned, she does appear to be attracted to the Commander enough to take ownership of them upon acquisition. Even if it was only platonic at first, her feelings are cemented by her pre-Oath love line.
  • Parasol of Pain: An oil-paper umbrella that holds the anti-air guns for Harbin's rigging: a 37mm quad gun on a 46-K mount. She swings it at her opponents in her attack animation.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: Comments on the Commander having guts for touching her chest. Punchable guts.
  • Smoke Out: Harbin's support skill, Impactful Torpedoes, ties a three-second smokescreen adding up to 35% Evasion and decreased damage taken by aircraft to her torpedo launches. After those three seconds end, she launches a second salvo that triggers the same smokescreen.

Battlecruisers (CC/BC)

     The Huan Ch'ang class

"I am Huan Ch'ang, battlecruiser of the Dragon Empery. Though the past cannot be rewritten... Kun above, Kan below – success in all things to come... Heehee. I took this opportunity to divine the future, and I see only good things to come."

  • Artistic License – Military: As the real life Huan Ch'ang never came to fruition, she is the loose interpretation of a 1913 schematic detailing features for a 28,000-ton battlecruiser complete with 10 × 14 in. guns, 16 × 6 in. guns, and 5 × 22 in. underwater torpedoes. It is likely that her design was heavily inspired by British battlecruisers of the time.
  • Cool Mask: Her face is almost constantly obscured by a mask, which changes based on her mood. This is a reference to the ancient Chinese Bian Lian, a performance art of Sichuan opera which actors can rapidly change between expressive and vividly colored masks with a flick of a fan and/or a shake of the head.
  • Fortune Teller: She is a skilled diviner, with much of her daily routine being plotted out by reading fortunes.
  • Sweet Tooth: She is extremely fond of sweet foods as indicated by the extremely sweet osmanthus wine she shares with the Commander. In her post-Oath lines, she notes that her idea of the proper level of sweetness should be an entire can of sugar at the bare minimum.

Light Aircraft Carriers (CVL)

    The Chen Hai class

"So you're the brains behind the operation here, huh? ...Hehe, I finally get to meet the legendary Commander face-to-face. It's an honor to be able to work with you. I trust you'll live up to your lofty expectations?"

  • Always Someone Better: She compares herself to other "real" aircraft carriers and says she has a long way to go.
  • Animal Motifs: Peacocks, since her art includes a shawl that resembles the tail feathers of one.
  • Dragon Lady: Compared to the other ships in her faction, she comes off as this. Several of her dialogues depict her as seductive or controlling toward commander.
"War isn't fair. Backstab your enemy. Think two or three steps ahead of them, read their every move. Then... BAM! Victory comes just like that. Hehe."
"My eyes look a bit scary when I'm thinking about something? ...How do you know that isn't just one of my many faces?"
  • Hidden Depths: In her base skin, when saying her Disappointed dialogue, Chen Hai has a weeping face that only appears in this instance. It seems she genuinely has 'lofty expectation' of Commander as mentioned in her Acquisition dialogue. Generally speaking, she has a sincere side beyond her Dragon Lady and The Gadfly attitude, as seen in her advices to the commander and her lecturing of Hai Chi (first for the latter's inappropriate words and latter on being diligent about organizing the festival) in Great Lunar New Year Photoshoot event. Part of her reason to suggest the photoshoot is to promote the image of Dragon Empery. Even her more domineering dialogues have the context of guidance, and sometimes she outright asks commander to improve and be responsible.
"Don't forget to finish up your missions. When it comes back to bite you in the ass, it'll already be too late."
"How's the port supposed to run when the decisionmaker's seat is vacant? C'mon, sit down already."
  • Identical Stranger: Chen Hai practically look's identical to Peter Strasser from Iron Blood.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Chen Hai has an impressive chest and equally impressive legs, and none of her skins make any attempt to hide it.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Not her name, but her classiffication - she is nominally a light carrier (CVL), but she's actually a seaplane tender (AV). As such, the only planes she can equip are seaplanes (and hence her self-comparison to "real" carriers), and she can only launch 1 per slot while fleet and light carriers generally get two or three planes per slot.
  • Oral Fixation: It's a bit hard to see, but she has part of her necklace in her mouth in her default skin.
  • The Gadfly: She has a propensity for humour, as seen in her joking banter with Pennsylvania in Great Lunar New Year Photoshoot event and her Valentine gift. Her Special Touch dialogues are also voiced in a joking manner, despite their somewhat threatening wording.
"This lively Valentine's Day seems to have added some excitement and enthusiasm to an otherwise peaceful port. As for me, I suppose I'll watch things unfold from a safe distance, hehe. By the way, these Western-style chocolates are for you."
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: She speaks her somewhat menacing Special Touch dialogue in a lighthearted manner. Maybe a Downplayed Trope, as she had similar attitude when lecturing Hai Chi, but when she saw Hai Chi failed to catch the message, she immediately turned the page, indicating that this can be a prank to incite reaction from the other party.
  • The Strategist: She often gives advice to the commander in her dialogues. She is also the foremost mind behind The Great Lunar New Year Photoshoot event, successfully advertising the beauty of Chinese garden to other camps. She even has a skill named Cunning Stratagem.
  • Vapor Wear: In her uncensored art it's obvious she's not wearing any panties due to the very high cut of her dress. Same with her Vestibule of Wonders skin where the uncensored version makes it clear she's not wearing a bra.

  • Art Initiates Life: In her base skin, a scroll is floating above her head with the illustration of tree branches coming out of the paper.
  • Chinese Vampire: She wears a very skimpy Jiangshi costume in her Lunar New Year's skin.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She says she doesn't like spicy foods in one of her secretary lines, specifically in reference to mapo tofu.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Like Chen Hai, she is actually a seaplane tender, not a light carrier. This is why she can only equip seaplanes.
  • Nonstandard Character Design: While her features are pretty standard for an AL character, her rigging noticeably stands out compared to other carriers or even Chen Hai. This is because she was converted from an Austro-Hungarian merchant ship that wound up stranded in China in WWI.

"I am Ting An of the Dragon Empery's First Fleet. I once served as a seaplane tender before being converted into a transport ship. Outside of that... Oh, I wonder if little Yat Sen is here? I'm sure that girl must've grown a lot since I last saw her. Heehee~"

  • Buxom Beauty Standard: As of now, clearly boasts the largest pair of breasts for the Dragon Empery Faction. The censored version of her Tender White Jade noticeably reduces them.
  • Friendly Shopkeeper: She aspires to be one after the war is over.
  • Intrepid Merchant: Many of her lines have to do with establishing new trade routes.
  • Stripperific: In her base outfit, where the covering on her chest is visibly straining to keep her contained. Downplayed in the censored version of her art which covers her more.
  • Vapor Wear: It’s obvious that she’s not wearing a bra or panties in her base skin. One of her lines regarding this is how breezy her outfit is.
