Playable characters

    Shirakami Fubuki

Shirakami Fubuki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fubuki_7.jpg
Adaptable Gacha Mastery
Versatile Fox Spirit
Beginner ★★✩✩✩✩

  • Luck-Based Mission: Her play style. Her specials tend to have more powerful variants, but they're randomized when they appear. It's a matter of luck if you get the SSR attack or just a Yukkuri Fubuki.
  • Shotoclone: Similarly to Korone, but with a gacha twist.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Her Super Star Move and her burst have her temporarily transform into Kurokami, complete with an Evil Laugh at the beginning of the Super Star Move.

    Hoshimachi Suisei

Hoshimachi Suisei

Saikou Pressure
Stellar Stylish Idol
Advanced ★★★★✩✩

  • Meteor-Summoning Attack: Some of Suisei's attacks summon stars for attack or defense. Her Super Star Attack has her summon a comet to drop onto the opponent, a reference to the MV for her song GHOST.

    Aki Rosenthal

Aki Rosenthal

Magical Pressure From Afar
Half-Elf From Another World
Intermediate ★★★✩✩✩

  • Prehensile Hair: An odd variant, but a number of her moves involve her hitting her opponent with her detached twintails.
  • Teleport Spam: Has a large number of moves that involve teleporting, both to attack and to move.

    Inugami Korone

Inugami Korone

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/korone_4.jpg
High Endurance Brawling
Retro Fighting Dog
Beginner ★✩✩✩✩✩

  • Batter Up!: Makes use of a baseball bat in several moves, including her grab.
  • Boxing Battler: Two of her attacks involve her punching her opponent with boxing gloves, which is rather fitting as one of her hobbies is, indeed, boxing.
  • Chainsaw Good: Makes use of a chainsaw in several of her moves.
  • Finger Gun: Literally. One of her attacks is a finger gun that shoots yubis (fingers).
  • Jack of All Trades: Korone has a relatively balanced moveset that's easy for beginners. In fact, she's the one character you control in tutorials.
  • Motivation on a Stick: Her running animation has her humorously trying to get her hands on a bone, which is attached to a stick on her head.
  • Shotoclone: Korone's general playstyle is very much this, with Yubi! as her projectile, Super Koro Punch as her uppercut and DOOG as her rush attack.
  • Sneeze of Doom: Downplayed, but some of her moves involve her sneezing on her opponent, or sneezing and accidentally spraying tea on her opponent.

    Tokino Sora

Tokino Sora

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sora_98.jpg
Sonnant Seiso Setplay
Virtuous Pure Idol
Advanced ★★★★★✩

  • Assist Character: A-Chan appears to help her in several of her moves.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: One of the more difficult characters to play, but can be powerful in the right hands.
  • Laser Blade: She uses one in her VFX-Calibur move.
  • Musical Assassin: Several of her moves involve using her keyboard to send musical note mines at her opponent.

    Nakiri Ayame

Nakiri Ayame

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ayame_20.jpg
Nonstop Oni Offense
Giggling Playful Ojou
Beginner ★✩✩✩✩✩

  • Big Ball of Violence: Her Super Star Special takes the form of one as the Ayame clones pummel their target.
  • Carry a Big Stick: Some of her moves make use of a kanabo.
  • Dual Wielding: Primarily fights using her two katanas.
  • Fighting Clown: Zig-zagged. While she has a mostly standard playstyle related to her dual wielding katanas and wisp-summoning, she also attacks with a spiky bat launcher move (complete with a comical bonk sound when it hits) and a Big Ball of Violence for her Super Star move, all the while having silly walking and running animations to emphasize her cheery personality.
  • Hammer Hilt: Her standing and crouching light attacks have her strike her opponent with the hilt of one of her katanas.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: Unless she's kneeling, she keeps her katanas sheathed when not actually attacking.
  • Me's a Crowd: Her Super Star Attack has her summon clones of herself that fight amongst themselves with the foe as collateral.

    Shishiro Botan

Shishiro Botan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/botan.jpg
Tactical Space Control
Special Forces La-Lion
Intermediate ★★★✩✩✩

  • Gatling Good: Uses one in her "Get to da Choppa" move.
  • Guns Akimbo: Many of her moves have her use dual pistols to attack.
  • The Gunslinger: She fights almost exclusively with guns and explosives, with only a few moves that don't involve them. Mainly falls into the Trick Shot category due to having several moves that involve firing guns while airborne, even having a move called "MLG Trick Shot", which involves her doing a backflip and shooting her opponent with a sniper rifle while upside down.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Botan is one instance of a character who can use a midair grab while not being a dedicated grappler.
  • Short-Range Long-Range Weapon: Enforced for Competitive Balance purposes. Despite being The Gunslinger, very few of her attacks actually fire a projectile or have a hitbox beyond the gun's muzzle flare (akin to Noel Vermillion), often forcing Botan players into melee range for any sort of decent damage.
  • Throw Down the Bomblet: She can throw or roll grenades at her enemy.

    Kiryu Coco

Kiryu Coco

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/coco_17.jpg
Dragon-Style Grappling
4th Chairman of the Kiryu Clan
Intermediate ★★✩✩✩✩

  • Breath Weapon: As befitting a dragon, she has several moves where she breaths fire, both in human form and her dragon form.
  • Fighting Clown: Zigzagged. While much of her play-style is grappling and breathing fire, she also has a number of comedic moves, from stabbing her opponent with a butt-plug, to smacking them with an alarm clock, to hitting them with her breasts (with a comedic "boing" sound effect), to throwing them into a meme. As well, she casually leans on a prop and uses her tail like a chair instead of crouching, flips her opponent off while moving backwards, comically flails if her "Acrobatic Assault" move fails to connect, and has a crab-walk move called "Wide Coco" that certainly looks silly but has a surprising amount of utilitynote .
  • The Grappler: Her playstyle is called "Dragon-Style Grappling", and thus most of her special attacks are Grapple Moves.
  • One-Winged Angel: Her super attack has her transform into massive dragon (based on her appearance in the first trailer for hololive Alternative) and blast them with a powerful Breath Weapon.
  • Winged Humanoid: While Coco's human-dragon form doesn't normally have her draconic wings, here she sprouts them for her dash and jumps.

    Usada Pekora

Usada Pekora

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/is_pekora_profile.jpg
High Explosive Mischief
Usada Construction's Maniacal CEO
Intermediate ★★★✩✩✩

  • Stuff Blowing Up: As expected of her, a large chunk of her moveset has a lot of explosions.

    Kureiji Ollie

Kureiji Ollie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/is_ollie_profile.jpg
Overwhelming Infatuation
Loud, Lovestruck Zombie
Intermediate ★★★✩✩✩

  • Breaking Old Trends: She's the first playable character not part the main Japanese hololive branch. Instead, she's part of the Indonesian branch.
  • Continuity Nod: Her Super Star Attack has her turn the opponent into a marketable plushy, which she then stores in the Collection.
  • Detachment Combat: Some of her attacks involve pulling one of her arms off and hitting her opponent with it, and another involves her swinging the sword stuck in her head at her opponent... without actually removing her head from the sword.
  • Fast Tunneling: One of Ollie's Specials appears to be her tunneling through the ground in a quick teleport.
  • Harem Seeker: Several of her moves revolve around her being this, such as presenting her opponent with flowers, or getting down on one knee and proposing to them.
  • Phallic Weapon: One of her attacks is the Apex Legends Charge Rifle...firing it from in between her legs.
  • Promoted to Playable: She was the NPC who's shown with the player's collectibles at launch, now she's a fully-playable character on the roster.
  • Super-Scream: One of Ollie's Specials has her screaming at the ground to launch her enemy.
  • Toy Transmutation: Her Super Star Move has her turn her opponent into a collectible plushy, which she then keeps on her shelf. They can even be viewed in Virtual Frontier's collection modenote . Rather hilariously, not even the Final Boss of Virtual Frontier is immune to this!

  • Fighting Clown: Her assists are hilarious but are useful for containing and pressuring the opponent.

Moona Hoshinova

Star Call-In: Supernova

    Virtual Frontier NPCs

Watson Amelia (NPC)

Nanashi Mumei

Pavolia Reine

  • Healing Checkpoint: Her Café serves as this, either healing a portion of your health, refreshing your snack items or for a small price both.

Yukoku Roberu

  • The Bartender: Roberu's bar offers Snacks, and he can refill your snack uses for a small fee.
  • The One Guy: He's the only Holostars member (and therefore the only male character) to physically appear in the game. Downplayed, as several events in the Virtual Frontier have other Holostars members make text-only appearances, and a picture of Yagoo appears in some locations.

Kureiji Ollie (NPC)

    The Final Boss (SPOILERS UNMARKED
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20231106164150_1.jpg
  • All Your Powers Combined: While it takes the form of Sora most of the time, it can also turn into other idols to use their attacks, as well as use every collab in the game.
  • Final Boss: As labeled here, specifically for Virtual Frontier. The Ollie update would also make it this for the reworked arcade mode.
  • Glitch Entity: Something of an in-universe example, considering that it clearly doesn't belong in the Virtual Frontier reality.
  • The Nameless: This being is never named, its name in the bio being ERROR'd out and simply being labeled as "the boss" in battle and in the fight outro.
  • Ominous Visual Glitch: A lot of its bio is filled with errors, including its name, and it itself doesn't quite look like it belongs in the Virtual Frontier's reality.
  • The Voiceless: The only aspects of this entity that are vocalized are its myriad of collabs. It doesn't speak a single word itself.
  • You Cannot Grasp the True Form: It seems to have pulled this on the very systems of the Virtual Frontier, if the conditions are to go by. Also, it's relatively obvious that it only takes on the appearance of Sora, and isn't actually a version of her, and it also takes the forms of other characters to use their attacks.
The true nature of this opponent could not be analyzed.
