Aizen Sousuke
- The Atoner: A lot of the Plot of the later series and Heir in particular is driven by Aizen trying to make up for the various wrongs he's done to Gin.
- Break His Heart to Save Him: Most of late phase 1 and phase 2. Most notably the Affair in CWST.
- The Casanova: And everyone knows.
- Can't Act Perverted Toward a Love Interest: Averted because Aizen likes to see Gin blush.
- Character Check: Invoked makes an active point of reminding everyone what a cold bastard he is whenever the mask slips a bit. While some of this is to protect Gin from Jac a lot of it is straight up pride. This is especially noticeable in Game and Safe Harbour when he's trying to keep Gin at arms length, Phase 2 with the affair.
- Also does this a bit in phase 3 but it's much softened by the fact that Gin knows exactly what he's doing and plays along.
- Depraved Bisexual: He’s bi-sexual and his actions towards his interests are very depraved at the start.
- Enemy Within: Jac.
- Hope Is Scary: Thanks to the situation with Jac his feelings towards actually falling in love with Gin have an element of this.
- I Hate Past Me: In Cycle Aizen grows to loathe the weak child he once was. Subverted to devastating effect later as what he's become keeps getting in the way of his relationship with Gin.
- Inelegant Blubbering: When he finally does breakdown in CF he's full-on sobbing.
- It's Not You, It's My Enemies: Lie and CWST courtesy of Jac.
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Zigzagged Starts out Deconstructed with Aizen trying to find a better partner for Gin to protect him from Jac, but Gin doesn't make it easy and Aizen can't really bring himself to go through with it. When he finally does manage to chase Gin away in CWST it breaks him. Literally no one cares not even Cherry.
- Jerkass Woobie: Deconstructed throughout Phase 1 and 2 The tension between his Jerkass Woobie tendencies and actually caring about Gin is a major plot driver.
- Justified with his backstory in Pact and Cycle and when his reasons for trying to dump Gin are revealed in Lie.
- Reconstruction in phase 3 as he starts being more honest with Gin.
- Moment of Weakness: Referenced in Can't be in there with you in a Flash Back of him begging Gin to stay with him in the hospital he blames it on painkillers.
- Lady Killer In Love: Well a bi example but trope holds.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Pretty much the point of Lethal Lunacy
- Also a after his first kill in Cycle
- No More Lies: the end of I love it doesn't stick.
- Not So Stoic: downplayed at the end of I love played very straight in CF much to Gin's shock.
- Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Practically runs on this trope but particularly in early Game where he does nothing to help Gin's misgivings by consistently playing up his Casanova traits and responding to Gin's rejections in a less than optimal manner
- Safe harbour exemplifies this.
- Also in CF when his fears loosen his tongue.
- Pillars of Moral Character: Oddly enough but a lot of the Phase 4 plot is driven by a mix On and Gimu towards Gin for standing by him through everything. Admittedly Gin is the only one he shows this towards.
- Safety in Indifference: mostly due to Jac.
- Sand In My Eyes: Inverted Gin is so used to Aizen's image that he tends to brush off any apparent show of emotion as his imagination or a misdirection without Aizen really having bother with excuses.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: On occassion when the breaking speech is working. Usually completely ineffectual.
- Start of Darkness: Pact and Cycle show how he met Jac and how the hollow subsequently breaks him. Though he wasn't exactly Incorruptible Pure Pureness to begin with.
- Stepford Snarker: Tends to get an acid tongue whenever Gin hits a little too close to home.
- Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Gin doesn't realize there's a sweet side for years.
- Troubled Abuser: Mostly on a psychological level a lot of the way he treats people is just imitating the Jac treated him. Cycle is pretty much about this shift from victim to victimizer.
Ichimaru Gin
- Act of True Love: Many times but most notably agreeing to defect with Aizen and forgiving him his With his ridiculous number of transgressions
- Be a Whore to Get Your Man: Averted Gin tries this in LW&T Ch.6 but Aizen shuts it down.
- Character Check: His insecurities still crop up routinely through series and he still blushes a bit too much. Justified in the first instance because he's with Aizen and in the later because that's standard for his [[Asexuality Orientation.]]
- Character Development: Gin learns Aizen's tricks and the art of mind games well. In CWST he shows Aizen and the reader just how well he learned.
- Cuddle Bug: Aizen doesn't seem to complain though.
- Distressed Dude: A lot of the problems especially in Phases 2 and 4 are due to Jac pulling a perpetual I Have Your Index and Aizen's subsequent always save Gin.
- Defecting for Love: Invoked in CF and the set up for Heir.
- Desperately Craves Affection: Gin hates the thought of losing Aizen and the simplest favor/gesture/compliment makes him happy.
- Fool for Love: The sheer amount of shit he goes through to be with Aizen is either pathetic, idiotic or sweet but regardless he is always this.
- In Touch with His Feminine Side: In comparison to Aizen though not weak by any means.
- Like a God to Me: His petname forr Aizen is his 'Sun', and references to the legend of Helios are made constantly.
- Living Emotional Crutch: To Aizen though only Implied in Phases 1 and 2 and Downplayed in the later timeline.
- Lust Object: To Aizen who proceeds to spend most of Phase 1 assuring anyone asking that that's all it is and succeeds in fooling no one but Gin.
- Oblivious to Love: The early chapters of Game are largely driven by his complete denial of his own feeling and oblivious or outright cynicism to Aizen's overtures. It's not entirely Undeserved.
- Single-Target Sexuality: towards Aizen.
- Tender Tears: In almost every fic in the series and no one is calling him down for it.
- Undying Loyalty: Towards Aizen from assisting in his plans, to defecting, to forgiving him. Gin will do anything for him.
- Was It All a Lie?: Various points but especially in Unlove well all of phase 2 really and when Aizen loses his memories in heir
- What's He Got That I Ain't Got?!: Concerning Kisuke in LW&T ch.6 and Momo in cwst
- Yandere: has some tendency toward this.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Once a Season at least.
Cherry
Gin's white-furred pet fox. He's had her since she was a kit.- Canine Companion: To Gin.

- Pet the Dog: When Gin Introduces Aizen to her.
Kyōka Suigetsu
Aizen's Zanpakuto Snarky, superior but they have a decent relationship. She tries to make sure he doesn't screw himself over with Complexity Addiction. A Shapeshifter she likes to use a wolf form.- Master of Illusion: As Aizens Zanpakuto it’s to be expected that he’s a master of illusion.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When she stops snarking either crap just got real, it's time to drop the hammer or Aizen's seriously hurting and she's refraining from piling on. Usually leads to Don't You Dare Pity Me! in the last instance.
- Sarcasm Mode: Constantly.
- Shipper on Deck: With Aizen and Gin Justified in that she's a reflection of Aizen and Gin's totally just a toy to him.
- Snark-to-Snark Combat: with Aizen.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: When things get bad you can tell they have a proper, welltrained Shinigami/Zanpakuto relationship. Notably in CF and in Heir during the fights with Jac.
Shinsou
Gin's Zanpakuto even snarkier than Kyouka encourages Gin to not overthink everything. Looks like a fox.- Snark-to-Snark Combat: With Gin. Downplayed it's much tamer than the Kyōka example but it's there.
- Love Makes You Dumb: To Gin. Constantly.
Matsumoto Rangiku
- All Women Are Prudes: Strictly Averted as she plies Gin for details much to his embarrassment
- Cool Big Sis: acts like this to Gin.
- Gossipy Hen: About everything but especially Gin.
- Scullery Maid: A variant of this when she takes Hisagi's shift at the resturant to spy on Gin's first date with Aizen
- Shipper on Deck: for Gin's sake. She's still wary of Aizen though.
Jac
Aizen's hollow.- Break Them by Talking: His go to weapon against Aizen. It usually fails but when he succeeds.
- Cry for the Devil: His backstory is tragic and when he finally does breakdown in the shower while trying to convince himself he isn't allowed to it hurts.
- I Have Your Index: Threatens Gin regularly to coerce Aizen.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: To Aizen all the time.
- Villains Never Lie: Doesn't really have to he can use the truth or suggestion to devastating effect.
- Tragic Villain: Was a decent king in Hueco Mundo until Shinigami killed his beloved wife and kid. After which he joined with Aizen to get his revenge.
Inoue Orihime
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Shows signs of this.
- Inelegant Blubbering: Does this after he catches Aizen with Gin.
- Hypocrite: She cheated on Aizen first. Ulquiorra calls her on this. Somewhat mitigated in that Aizen coerced her.
- The Ingenue: Played With she is as much this as in canon however she also openly Lusts for Aizen even knowing he's evil, uses and Abandons Ulq with little thought.
- Woman Scorned: When she catches Gin with Aizen.
Cifer Ulquiorra
- Extreme Door Mat: To Orihime.
- I Just Want My Beloved to Be Happy: to a pathetic extent. He deserves better.
- Love Martyr: Also to Orihime.
Hinamori Momo
- Being Evil Sucks: How she starts mistress regretting what she's done.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She knowingly comes between Aizen and Gin not that Aizen Complained.
- Females Are More Innocent: Played With in Mistress.
- Karmic Nod: She knows she isn't an innocent victim.
Tsuku
Cherry's mate and Aizen's pet fox.- Heroes Love Dogs: Villain Protagonists too apparently.
- Sleep Cute: A Tear Jerker variety when he cuddles with a hypothermic Aizen to keep him warm following the fight with Jac.
Kuchiki Byakuya
- Insecure Love Interest: To Renji.
- Uke: Suprisingly the submissive to Renjis dominant.
Abarai Renji
