Le Petit Spirou
- Delusions of Beauty: Mr Mégot is convinced he has a dreamy body, but he's actually quite ugly.
- Laser-Guided Karma: A racist bully gets covered in soot, making him look black. Then a bunch of others racist bullies are about to beat him up.
- Spaghetti Kiss: One strip has Spirou and suzette kissing themselves after sharing a spaghetti. Spirou's grandfather then tries to do the same thing with his girlfriend, but she loses her denture before the kiss happens.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Spirou and Vertignasse's attempt at disguising themselves as an adult to watch an adult movie fails. Not because they somehow comically messed up as one would expect, it's just obvious that they are two children, one on top of the other, wearing an oversized trenchcoat, plus, Spirou still has a child voice.
- Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Ms Chiffre is in a relationship with a man much shorter than her.
Grow
- Anime Hair: In the second level of Grow RPG Sigma, the hero has spiky hair, compared to a bowl cut in the first level.
- Heel–Face Turn: In Grow RPG Sigma, after a Double Knockout, the demon decides to make peace with the hero after they both get healed by the king.
- Magic Staff
- In most of his appearences, the Sun Boy gains a magic staff. Altough the staff always has the same appearence, its effect is always different.
- In Grow Cinderella, the fairy godmother uses a magic staff to transform animals and objects.
- Villain Forgot to Level Grind: In the second level of Grow RPG Sigma, the hero is way more powerful than in the first level, while the demon has the exact same stats. Since you play as the demon here, you must make him stronger and give him a squad of monsters.
Uncle Albert's Adventures
- Art Evolution: Le Temple Perdu has a graphical overhaul compared to the first three games. Some animals look completely different.
- Art Initiates Life:
- In Magical Album, there's a folded paper containing a drawing of a frog which turns into a real one. Fabulous Voyage does the same thing with three toads.
- In Mysterious Island the player must build a pirogue by taking pictures of each parts of the pirogue from a notepad. Once every picture is correctly placed on a 3x3 grid, they turn into a real pirogue.
- Ash Face: A machine exploding on Uncle Albert causes him to exit his workshop in panic with soot all over his fate.
- Bait-and-Switch: The intro of Magical Album has Uncle Albert standing in front of the sea with some tropical island. Then, the camera backs off and reveal that the tropical background is just a picture held by children.
- Barely-Changed Dub Name: Gus, the monkey from Mysterious Island is called Gustave in the original French game
- Been There, Shaped History: A cutscene implies that Uncle Albert inspired Americans to build rocketship for space travel.
- Big Entrance: The dragon enters the screen while doing a backflip.
- Bookend: In the first cutscene of Fabulous Voyage, Uncle Albert tries to take a picture of himself with the village's children, but the camera falls before the picture is taken. In the final cutscene, Uncle Albert tries to take the same picture, with more success this time.
YMMV/MordheimCityOfTheDamned:
* Scrappy Mechanic: The fact that missions automatically end the very moment the enemy party is defeated/flees makes completing side-objectives harder very often. You will frequently down an enemy whose trinket you need to collect, only for the mission to end before you can loot their bodies. The company's Spiritual Successor, Necromunda: Underhive Wars actually fixed this by adding a bonus round once all enemies are dealt with, leaving the players free to loot.
- That One Sidequest: "Break their spirit" or "grab the enemy's idol and bring it to your wagon", one the three potential side-objectives on standard missions, is all-but-impossible, simply because the missions generally don't last long enough for you to bring back the idol to your wagon, and there's no partial credit if you "just" manage to steal it but not return it to your cart.

- Not Me This Time: In "Johnny's New Super Mega Villain", Johnny's older sisters and three of his enemies suspect him of stealing their belongings, yet he claims he’s innocent. His claims turn out to be true minutes later when the titular villain says he knew they’d suspect him.
- We Used to Be Friends: In "Johnny Daddy Day", the Test family surprise Hugh with Willy Keller, his childhood best friend. Hugh however reveals they ended up hating each after he stole Willy's girlfriend back in High School. Then Willy attacks Hugh.
- Noodle Incident: When the employee rushes to Pandory's stage, it heavily suggests Aiden isn’t his first victim.
- Artistic License – History
- During one of her university lectures, Monica states that wherever Europeans arrived, they brought slavery. This statement is not only wrong, since only some European countries were involved in the slave trade, but also seems to imply that slavery did not exist in America before the arrival of Europeans. It is rather strange that a professor of American history would not know that slavery was common among the Maya and the Aztecs.
- Batman Gambit: a recurring theme is the failure of this trope. More than one character attempted both during the series and in the flashbacks to teach or be empathetic through Tough Love, or attempted to be The Chessmaster, but apart from some specific cases, like Beth and Rip's approach with Carter, this usually leads to disastrous consequences:
- Evelyn Dutton thought that to prepare Beth to withstand the abuse she would one day endure as a woman, she had to treat her much more harshly than she had treated her other children. Too bad that shortly afterward Evelyn died in an accident for which Beth always blamed herself, thanks in part to her mother's treatment of her until the very end. As she grew up, Beth actually became capable of standing up to anyone, but she also became bitter, angry and, most importantly, she is now obsessed with never disappointing John the way she feels she disappointed her mother
- When Beth and Rip were teenagers, it was Love at First Sight, but when she tried to approach him he always kept some kind of distance between them, being him a handyman and her the rancher's daughter, therefore Beth attempted to get him jealous by flirting with other boys. Too bad Rip did not react the way she hoped for and that is why the two needed 20 years to actually become a couple.
- John decided that since Jamie was the most academically brilliant of his sons, he used his authority to make the latter study to become a lawyer, trusting that his son could become one without learning to see things differently from him. Too bad this did not happen and over time this, together with their clashing personalities, strained their relationship.
- Mia tried to push Jimmy to fight for their love by pretending to want to end things between them. Too bad that Jimmy, once in Texas, moved on and met Emily, to whom he became engaged.

- Jeremiah, Kurdy, Markus, Erin, Mr. Smith, and Lee are all supposed to be in their twenties (Kurdy is only about twenty-one, given his young age during the Big Death). All of their performers were at least thirty when the show premiered.
- How did Conspiracy Theorist Wylie learn the truth about the Valhalla Sector and their past and present atrocities?
- Did Mount Weather (which is referenced in passing, albeit not by name, in the season one finale) survive the Big Death unscathed, or were the adults inside killed like at Thunder Mountain? If they did survive, what kind of society they have is open to speculation, since they never try to help or rival Raven Rock and the Valhalla Sector.
@ Jeremiah
- In "Things Left Unsaid Part 2", Ezekiel reveals that he wasn’t at the monastery in the previous episode to spy on anyone, but because the Brothers offered him peace and solace.
@ Jeremiah
- In "Things Left Unsaid Part 2":
- Elizabeth passes away as Kurdy is holding her hand and talking about how long he has lived her. Right before that, she urged him to forgive Jeremiah, stay alive, and not feel responsible for her death rather than dwell about her own fate.
- Ezekiel tells Jeremiah that he never sleeps, and when asked if he has insomnia, replies that the problem is his memories (likely of his dead father, the end of the world, and his years searching for Jeremiah).
- The Cliffhanger Downer Ending. Jeremiah is captured by the Valhalla Sector right after locking eyes with Ezekiel as his adoptive brother is shot and presumably killed. Kurdy arrives seconds too late to save Jeremiah. Markus and the other regional leaders are captured right as they prepare to formalize their alliance and rebuild society.
@ Jeremiah
- In "Things Left Unsaid Part 2":
- Kurdy rams the truck into a Valhalla Sector Jeep that has a turret gun after realizing he won’t beat them in a fight.
- The Valhalla Sector gets a villainous moment when they interrupt the Continental Congress meeting Markus is holding at a football stand. Their soldiers rappel down from the higher stands and when some of the armed attendees fight back, the soldiers fire a missile into one of the empty stands as a warning shot, and resistance ceases.
- Mysterious Informant Wylie makes the most of his brief screen time as he lays out every Valhalla Sector secret he had uncovered and gives Jeremiah and the audience one "Eureka!" Moment after another.
@ Jeremiah
- In "Things Left Unsaid Part 2", St. Louis leader Nathan is seemingly the most prominent and influential community leader allied with Thunder Mountain and is captured by the Valhalla Sector along with Markus, Erin, Theo, and many others. He is never seen again, even when the prisoners are being rescued and then debating about their new laws.
@ Jeremiah
- In "Things Left Unsaid Part 2", remarkably accurate and knowledgeable informant Wylie is introduced right after Jeremiah learns he got his nickname due to being compared to the cartoon coyote who goes crazy chasing things he will never catch. To seemingly emphasize this, Wylie is trying to play a non-functioning handheld video game. He then tells Jeremiah this is just an act to make his enemies underestimate him, only to immediately get weird when Jeremiah touches a doll Wylie has.
@ Jeremiah
- In "Things Left Unsaid Part 2", Wylie mentions that four of the twelve previous people he told about the Valhalla Sector and the Big Death tried to do something about the villainous plan but were murdered and five more disappeared (of the other three, two killed themselves and the last leads the Brothers of the Apocalypse).
- Kelly's Heroes: Kelly is a respected lieutenant who was demoted to private and put in a Canon Fodder unit after being made The Scapegoat for a superior's mistake. He is introduced capturing a German colonel behind enemy lines and taking him back for interrogation. Upon finding gold on the colonel, Kelly force feeds him alcohol to make him tipsy and talkative, learning there is $14 million in looted gold in a nearby bank. He ignores orders to keep this quiet and recrutis his platoonmates and armored support to join him in a heist to rob the bank. He misleads all of his partners about how heavily guarded the bank is but does show some fond loyalty toward them. Despite heavy odds, Kelly leads his men to victory while suffering few casualties through a combination of coordinated strikes at the German soldiers and being willing to boldly and successfully bargain with the last guards and offer them a bribe. He and his allies then escape with the gold before the arrival of their Pointy-Haired Boss and the advancing U.S Army, while leaving behind an insulting message.
- Mean Machine: Massive is a smooth-talking suppler of contraband luxuries like chocolate and clean toilet paper. He approaches and befriends athlete turned inmate Danny Meehan, helping him navigate the prison society. He is the one to propose that Danny convince the warden to let the guards and cons play a football match against each other, Massive (the team’s manager) quickly sets out to profit off of and remains unflustered and committed even after being insulted and beaten by racist guards unhappy about his activities. He is polite and unyielding but contemptuous when a racist guard bullies him and starts beating him up. He helps plan out a campaign of dirty tricks for the final match that includes psychological warfare and smashing the bad knee of the racist guard who bullied him. The film ends with his power base and reputation among the prisoners secure as he happily joins the victory celebration.

- Piro/Marusu from Osamu Tezuka's Unico, is a young sphinx that Unico befriends in one of the manga's storylines. Marusu is very feisty and very short-tempered but also very sweet. He/She alongside the other young sphinxes are drawn more like lion cubs compared to other depictions of a sphinx. Marusu (Sphinx's Daughter/Son in the English dub) made an appearance in the 1983 film Unico in the Island of Magic where he/she helps Unico and Cheri confront Kuruku.

For Unexplained Recovery, First Law of Resurrection Anime & Manga:
- The Kindaichi Case Files: The dubiously canon sequel, Black Comedy, Gag Series and Deconstructive Parody Spin-Off Kindaichi Shounen No 1-Paku 2-Ka Shouryokou (Kindaichi Case Files: Mini-Vacations) has some dead characters from the mainline manga being revived somehow (either as living people or ghosts). The most jarring example is the culprit Ryuichi Rokusei, a.k.a. fake teacher Odagiri. He's alive and well in "The Prison Break at Ijinkan Village Incident" episode, although the spin-off's end-of-chapter note and Hajime's lampshading confirm that Rokusei actually dies from mortal injuries after being fatally shot by Kazamatsuri with a shotgun (followed by the latter's suicide) in the mainline/original manga and said case ends with none of the guest/minor characters surviving (except the figureheads' servants and cops). It's a work made by a different author that reveals the main casts' and (surviving) minor characters' aftermaths of the previous murder cases with some Character Derailment. This trope can be played with since there's a possibility that the spin-off is non-canon and/or Rokusei (and others) may actually return from Hell and other afterlives instead of being not actually dead, although it contradicts the permanent death, mundane setting of the original manga.
Rokusei: Heh, it's been a while, Kindaichi.Hajime: Rokusei! You've been shot several times but you're alive!Insp. Kenmochi: (cracks knuckles) You rude lot... Get lost... I'll send this guy flying.Hajime: Stop it! That's kind of a thing a guy who's about to lose says! You're never gonna win!(Insp. Kenmochi gets Punched Across the Room with a single hit, which he already knows it and poses the Buddha stance)Hajime: I knew it...Miyuki: The guy got him just like he (Insp. Kenmochi) imagined he would...Rokusei: You did a lot in Ijinkan (Rokkaku) Village. Now, I've returned from Hell to take my revenge on you, Kindaichi.

"No matter how bad the heroes can get or how bad the situation is, we're sure we can overcome it and get our happy endings..."Uncle Albert's Adventures
- Call-Back:
- In Fabulous Voyage:
- The game opens on the first page of Magical Album with all the bookmarks unlocked, except the page is rotting and we don't get to check the bookmarks since they are replaced once the game truly starts.
- The "archives" page contains a notepad with sketches of Uncle Albert's various inventions. One of them is the rocket ship from Magical Album.
- Before the mini-game where you must control a boat and avoid hazards, you get to see the desert page from Magical Album for a few seconds.
- Once the album is saved, you are taken back to the treasure page of Magical Album. You can even briefly see one of the statuettes.
- In Mysterious Island:
- The story focuses on the island where the treasure was hidden in Magical Album.
- In the intro of Mysterious Island, Gus travels through several places from the previous two games, the rocket ship from Magical Album even makes an appearence.
- In Le Temple Perdu:
- The first cutscene about Uncle Albert is a mix of several cutscenes from the three previous games.
- The spider during the basketball mini-game does the same sound effect from Magical Album when the fly touches the walls from the spiderweb maze.
- The last cutscene about Uncle Albert mentions Albert creating the "Boîte à bidules", referencing the spin-off game "La Boîte à bidules de l'Oncle Ernest" which came out a year earlier.
- In La Statuette Maudite:
- The first message from Uncle Albert is similar to his first message in Magical Album, with only a few different words since the plot is different.
- In Fabulous Voyage:
- Cartoon Bomb: Fabulous Voyage has a mini-game where the player must destroy crates containing classic round black bombs.
- Cave Behind the Falls: The titular Mysterious Island has a cavern behind a waterfall.
- Chromatic Arrangement: The four test tube liquids in Fabulous Voyage are blue, red, green and yellow. The blue one is a transformation potion, the red one is a potion that changes animals' colors, the green one is anti-venom and the yellow one is the Albertic acid.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Alberto doesn't appear in games taking place after Mysterious Island, while it's justified by the fact that these games happen in different places, it can feel a bit weird that he's never referenced again.
- Clothing Damage: A machine exploding on Uncle Albert causes him to exit his workshop in panic with his shirt all torn.
- Cool Mask: Uncle Albert has a collection of cool-looking mask from various contries in the world, which he got during his travels.
- Cool Plane: Le Temple Perdu has the Aero-Condor, a one-person-sized plane shaped like a condor with an Inca aesthetic. The coolness mostly comes from the plane's design.
- Cool Uncle: More of a "cool honorary uncle'', but Uncle Albert loves to tell children about his past adventures.
- Covers Always Lie: The dragon on the cover of Magical Album is orange with a blue torso and belly. In the actual game, it's fully orange.
Trivia.Schaffrillas Productions:
- Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: After his ranking video on Blue Sky was blocked for containing copyrighted music, instead of fixing the situation, James decided to deliberately keep the video blocked to the public (making it a Missing Episode in the process) as a response to those who have harassed him over his ranking of Rio 2, with his tweet announcing the decision calling them out and saying that they are responsible.
- Missing Episode: His ranking video of the Blue Sky Studios filmography was blocked due to it containing copyrighted music, with James deciding to keep it blocked as a response to viewers who have harassed him over his opinions on Rio 2.
YMMV.Peter Pan And Wendy:
- Older Than They Think: The idea of there being girls amongst the Lost Boys is not an entirely new concept, as Return To Neverland played with the idea by having Jane be a temporary member of the Lost Boys and both The New Adventures of Peter Pan and Wendy feature several girls as part of the gang.
YMMV.Grave Of The Fireflies
- True Art Is Angsty: This is undeniably Studio Ghibli's darkest and most depressing film to date, as it deals with two kids attempting to survive the end of the war on their own, only to die of malnutrition and illness by the end. It's because of this dark and somber tone, however, that it is also regarded as one of Ghibli's best and most powerful films, with it being one of three Ghibli films to achieve a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (the other two are Only Yesterday and The Tale of Princess Kaguya, which, coincidentally enough, also happen to be films directed by Isao Takahata).
YMMV.Sonic Mania:
- Fandom-Enraging Misconception: Don't claim Sonic Mania to be a "glorified fan game" unless you want to be met with the fandom's ire. While Sonic Mania was done by promoted fanboys with experience in the Sonic fan gaming community, Sonic Mania is still an official product made by professional and experienced indie developers (some of which had previous experience on the series), not by a bunch of amateur fans that Sega happened to pluck off the street. It also ignores that Sonic Team was still involved with the game's development (even if they had a more supervisory role).

- And the reason this practice angers Jon the most: overpouring a customer's drink inhibits their ability to drink responsibly at their desired pace, which is a very dangerous practice. To cap it all off, if the customer decides to drive home and gets in an accident, the bar is liable for everyone involved in the crash.
- A Lesson Learned Too Well: Before the Chunin Exams in Part 1, she had a bit of an ego, thanks to her being a wicked bright top student. While the events of the Chunin Exams have taught her not to have a swelled head, the series onward shows that she somehow got the idea that having stable self-confidence at all is a bad thing. She develops a severe case of Heroic Self-Deprecation that would bleed into many of her actions for much of the series, especially regarding Naruto and Sasuke, with nasty results. It wasn't until adulthood, after many trials, that she found that having stable self-confidence wasn't bad.
Aine
- Character Development: Aine goes from a shy and insecure high school wallflower to a confident and mature young woman, thanks to Sakuya's mutual undying love for her and the trials she is forced to endure as his woman.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: After enduring many trials throughout the story, in the "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue, she is Happily Married to a somewhat more mellow and mature Sakuya and has become a mom to their son Shion.
- Grew a Spine: Aine has trouble speaking her mind and keeping herself together in the face of adversity, especially as Sakuya's woman. With time, she learns to stand up for herself, Sakuya, and those she cares about.
- Second Love: To Sakuya, far after breaking up with his first one, Ayako. However, Ayako is more of an older ex-sex friend, while Aine is his One True Love in every single way.
- Took a Level in Badass: She goes from an insecure wallflower unable to defend herself to a brave and strong young woman. For example: She could stand up for herself by calling out Sakuya's jealous ex, Ayako, and dares to face Yoshiokanote by firing him back when he taunts her by recalling the rape despite the two of them being among the biggest names in the Japan entertainment industry.
