• Actor-Shared Background: Elizabeth is mixed race. Actress Kandyse McClure who played her is of Cape Coloured descent (a South African ethnic group with Black, White and Malay ancestry).
• Creator Backlash:
  • While he’s never gone into detail publicly, series creator J. Michael Straczynski has said making this series was a miserable experience due to ongoing behind-the-scenes battles with unnamed MGM executives. He’d originally planned for a five season series, but quit after two, and didn’t work in TV for a number of years after the series ended.
  • In 2012, Tricia Helfer, who appeared in the pilot, singled out Jeremiah as a show that didn't live up to her expectations and that she didn't regret leaving.
• Dawson Casting:
  • Jeremiah, Kurdy, Markus, Erin, Mr. Smith, and Lee are all supposed to be in their twenties (Kurdy is only about twenty-one, given his young age during the Big Death). All of their performers were at least thirty when the show premiered.
  • Damien from "Tripwire" was born during the Big Death, fifteen years earlier, but his actor was born 22 years before the episode was made.
• I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine: Luke Perry's former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Jason Priestley played Michael in "And the Ground, Sown with Salt".
• Real-Life Relative: In the episode Moon in Gemini, cast regular Ingrid Kavelaars' character Erin has a twin sister named Lauren, played by... her real-life twin sister Monique Kavelaars.
• Screwed by the Network: Straczynski left the show as soon as post-production wrapped. The network split season 2 in half, with the two halves airing nine months apart. Initially the second half only aired in Canada, with no announced air date in the US. No reason was ever given for the delays.
• What Could Have Been: Theo was originally envisioned as a Drag Queen before Kim Hawthorne showed up and did an Ability over Appearance audition.
