The "Workaholics": Main Trio

The Bull [Bleep] Boys, aka The O.G. Screw Crew, aka Bash Bros
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/17z8rtfz8ef61.png
Blake: "She's absolutely obsessed with the male human penis." Adam: "And that is awesome, because we have those things."
  • Ambiguously Bi: All three of the guys constantly try to sleep with women and are explicitly stated to have had sex in the past, but constantly show attraction to other men, talk about blowing each other and get erections from seeing each other's erections. Naturally, the Homoerotic Subtext goes completely over their heads.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners:
Anders: "You know we've been living together seven years? You know what that means? We're common law married!"
    Blake: "We're married!"
    Adam: "Married!"

  • Horrible Judge of Character: Let us not forget the time the trio befriended a pedophile (i.e. "To Friend A Predator").

  • Monster Clown: In "We Be Clownin'," when the trio gets jobs as children's party clowns. Though they do not start off as scary, they quickly step into Nightmare Fuel territory.
  • Mooning: In "Menergy Crisis," all three of them do it throughout the whole episode.
  • No Social Skills: The three guys act like they're in a raunchy high school movie in every social situation, up to and including funerals.
  • Power Trio: Well, there are three of them.
  • The Slacker: Practically every episode centers around the main trio trying to avoid work. Anders puts in a superficial effort in order to get on peoples' good sides, but he's just as bad.
  • Straw Misogynist: The main three can verge into this territory at times, though it's generally portrayed as being a result of them being easily influenced idiots rather than genuinely malicious towards women. They're still clearly meant to be in the wrong regardless.
    • A good example of this is in the episode "Dorm Daze," when Adam becomes deeply upset and disturbed when told that many porn actresses are victims that are being exploited.

     Adam DeMamp
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/adam_devine_new_series_6.jpg
"Snitches get...put in a body bag. Right? Because we will frickin' murder a snitch."
  • Actor-Inspired Element: Like the other main characters, a few can be spotted.
    • In "Wedding Thrashers," Blake mentions how Adam ate a "toilet doughnut." And in the episode "The Most Dangerless Game," Ders refers to this as well. In the Season 1 DVD release, there is a video in the Special Features where Adam DeVine is paid $500 from a few of the cast and crew members (notably Anders Holm, Blake Anderson, and Kyle Newacheck) to stick a donut in the toilet and eat it. He follows through.
    • In the episode "Snackers," Adam tells a story about when he went into Costco as a kid. The other two tell him how they already know the story, and Ders is able to mouth along the words with Adam as he tells it. In the This Is Important Podcast, Adam DeVine has a habit of re-telling stories and having the other three remind him that he had already told them on the podcast before.
    • The last name DeMamp originated from Adam DeVine's old fake ID from the early 2000s. His friend made it on photoshop, but was unable to make anything not already on the ID look realistic. Thus, he could only rearrange the letters and made Devin Dee Mamp. Adam DeVine discusses this on episode 102 of the podcast This Is Important.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: To Alice. While he isn't ugly, she loathes his personality.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Though Blake, Anders, and most of the men on the show could be labeled as perverts, Adam is the most perverted.
    • With a special Fetish for bodybuilder women
    • And makes a few references to incestuous thoughts and opinions
  • Ambiguously Bi: Like Blake and Anders, there are many examples of Adam being attracted to guys as well as woman. However, it likely does not occur to him that it is the same type of attraction.
    • In "Dorm Daze," Adam says this:
Adam: "I'll admit it, having a pornographic memory doesn't hurt. I cannot forget a dick."
    • In "Monstalibooyah," after Ders complains about not getting a hickey from a hot girl, Adam gets very persistent that he can give him one instead.
    • In "The Most Dangerless Game," he says this after deepthroating a corndog:
Adam: "I'd be so good at sucking- what's up?"
    • In "Termidate," Adam is reaaaaaaally into Skyler.
  • Atomic F-Bomb: In "Stop! Pajama Time," when Adam finds out he's going to be fired, he lets out a bleeped f-word that stretches into the end of that scene and the commercial break. When the show comes back from break, that's when he finishes yelling.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: He is easily distracted.
    • In "The Most Dangerless Game," he shares this interaction:
Blake: "That is, if you even have the attention span."
Adam: "Watch this. Focus of a laser. Oh, nothing will break this focus. Absolutely nothing."
Anders: "Who wants to play hide-and-seek?"
Adam: "Okay, I'll hide first. Losers!"
  • The Beard: In "Wedding Thrashers," Adam meets a beautiful young woman who asks him to a wedding as her date. It all seems too good to be true and at the end Adam begins to believe she may be his true love, but when they get to the wedding, it turns out the whole relationship was a sham. The girl was a lesbian, and wanted to make a point to her disapproving father by dating the schlubbiest, most obnoxious Manchild she could find, so that the prospect of going out with another girl would seem much better by comparison.

  • Blatant Lies: Adam tells obvious lies about his successes and sex life.
  • Bumbling Sidekick: Adam and Blake often work as this to Ders depending on how competent he is in the episode and how incompetent they are.

  • Captain Oblivious: In "In Line," Adam can't even tell the difference between people dressed up as zombies and drug addicts.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Constantly claims that he has sex with lots of women, though he eventually admits he's only had sex with five girls in college.
  • Cat Boy: I mean, technically! In "Front Yard Wrestling," he goes by the persona of "Catdam" where he dresses like a half-cat half-human character.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It is revealed in "Night at the Dudeseum" that Adam was molested as a child by the man his mom was sleeping with.
  • The Ditz: Generally shown to be the least intelligent and rational of the main characters.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Does not remember the basics of driving.
Adam: "Hey, when you said 'hit the breaks,' did you mean the left brakes or the right brakes?"
  • Dysfunctional Family: Like Blake, Adam does not have a healthy relationship with his family. His grandfather didn't even hug him as a child.
    • There is a lot of incest and incestuous behavior implied (and outright states) in reference to his family
    • And once you find out about his mom and dad in "Gramps DeMamp is Dead," it only gets weirder
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite Adam having some of the most vulgar and crude jokes in the whole show, in "Death of a Salesdude," Adam emphasizes how much he hates poop jokes.
Alice: "Fine. I will think about it. But for now, you're a floater."
Adam: "Ewww, is that a poop joke?"
    Alice: "No, of course not."
Adam: "[sigh] Okay, good, 'cause just know that I hate poop jokes."
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Anders and Blake. Though all three are constantly looking to hook up with women, they are also clearly obsessed with each other.
    • "Alice Quits" has some of the best examples of this.
    • In "Wedding Thrashers," Adam does not want to pursue a possible relationship with an attractive woman in fear it would ruin his relationship with Blake and Anders. Which sort of puts him into the Ambiguously Bi category as well.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Adam frequently brags about how cool he was back in high school, how many women he's slept with and how huge his dick is. It's obvious to everyone that he's telling very transparent lies to compensate for his insecurities. This is further proven by how easily he breaks down at the slightest insult.
  • Mistaken for Gay : Though all three of the main guys are arguably Ambiguously Bi
    • In "A Tel American Horror Story," Adam's own hallucination of Dr. Teleamericor thought Adam was throwing "vibes" his way.
    • In "The Meat Jerking Beef Boys," Anders's dad refers to him and Blake as "bisexual tweekers."
    • His grandfather ask him if he is "out the closet, yet?" in "The Worst Generation." Though he was probably only trying to insult him rather than actually thinking Adam was gay.
    • In "Friendship Anniversary," Adam drunkenly goes home with a guy from a bar. The man thinks Adam is gay and looking to hookup; Adam thinks the man is just really friendly. Later, when the main trio get back together, the man thinks the three of them are a in a polyamorous relationship.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Constantly proclaims himself to be much more macho and skilled with the ladies than he actually is.

     Anders Holmvik
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_6b5c25e1c736f4188f76aed5e27a8c48_f2c58e20_540_6.jpg
"Give me your hands. Let's play a game. It's called 'How close can you get to me without kissing me?'"
  • All Men Are Perverts: Anders tries to act like he does not fit into the trope, but he constantly proves he is Not So Above It All
  • Ambiguously Bi:
    • In "Fat Cuz," Devin says to Ders, "You're probably bi though." He does not seem annoyed with this suggestion.
    • In "The Meat Jerking Beef Boys," Anders's dad, who Anders fears and keeps his life a secret from, refers to Blake and Adam as "bisexual tweekers." To which Anders nervously asks, "What makes you say they're bisexual?"
    • In "The Lord's Force," he seems more open to the two body builders being gay than Blake and Adam.
    • However, in "In Line," Ders is very much uncomfortable and disinterested in a threesome between himself, his date, and Karl. Though, this may be more because he dislikes Karl than anything else.
    • In "Front Yard Wrestling," the trio talks about the TV show Doug. This interaction takes place that could be seen as Ders believing he'd have no shot with Patty Mayonnaise as long as Roger Klotz was around. However, knowing Ders' over-confidence and ego, it feels more likely that he is saying he'd get with Roger Klotz over Patty Mayonnaise.
Adam: "Like, nowadays, you might not go for Patty Mayonnaise."
Ders: "Not with Roger Klotz in the building."
    • In "Weed the People," Karl and Anders take turns trying to assert their sexual dominance over the other. Both getting boners because of each other. By the end of the episode, they agree that Alice's dad is the undeniably dominant one, as they both got boners from the dominance he showed over the drug dealer. It is important to note that Anders never shows shame in getting a boner because of another man. He seems more ashamed of getting a boner from specifically Karl and coming off as submissive.
    • In "Faux Chella," this interaction takes place:
Anders: "I mean, I've had anal."
      Adam: "What?"
Anders: "I've done- I've done anal to someone."
Adam: "That's not what you said, though."

  • Berserk Button: Anders hates having his name mispronounced.
Anders: It's Ahn-ders! I have an Ahn at the beginning of my name! I have a hard-ahn!
  • Bestiality Is Depraved: In "Dorm Daze," after Ders makes fun of the coast guard too many times, the coast guard recruitment team have their dog lick his butthole. He later makes several references to have actually enjoyed the act. He even suggest they get a dog for the house, to which Adam and Blake express concern and suspicion towards.
Ders: "We should definitely get a dog for the house. For, like, security and stuff. Like, not— to, like, play with."
    Blake [looking away]: "Oh."
Adam: "That dog licked your butthole didn't it?"
  • Butt-Monkey: Though all three main characters are this to an extent, Ders tends to suffer the most out of the three.
  • Fanboy: A fan boy of '80s films and Jamie Foxx
  • Guy Liner: In "In Line," he puts eyeliner on to impress a goth banker woman.
  • Hired for Their Looks: Though Alice did not outright hire Ders for his looks, she does (or tries to) use his looks for her own advantage in business situations.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Adam and Blake. Though all three are constantly looking to hook up with women, they are also clearly obsessed with each other.
    • "Alice Quits" has some of the best examples of this.
    • Though it is sort of a sad example for Anders due to him having ended up hanging out with the other two due to them ruining his swimming scholarship back in college. See "Flashback in the Day."
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: In "Ders Comes in Handy," he gets an over-the-pants-hand-job in a store.
  • Mistaken for Gay: Though all three of the main guys are arguably Ambiguously Bi
    • In "Speedo Racer," a man on Ders's old high school swim team seems to genuinely think Ders, Adam, and Blake are in a sexual relationship.
  • No Poker Face: See the episode "Always Bet On Blake."
  • Oblivious to Hints: Bad at picking up when girls are flirting with him, and when girls want him to stop flirting with them.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Gets called "Ders" more than "Anders"
    • Alice calls him "Stretch" quite a bit
    • Adam has called him "Dersy"
  • Only Sane Man: To some extent. He seems to take his job a bit more seriously than Adam and Blake, and doesn't take drugs as much. But he still does them.
    • Bizarrely, any time Anders tries to accomplish something, he ends up turning into an over-confident A-Hole, and Blake becomes the only sane man... in that he's the one who supports just skipping out on the plan to go home and smoke weed. This is used in "Old Man Ders" as Ders is wasted and on drugs for his birthday (afraid of getting older) and Blake is desperately trying to calm the situation. Adam, is never this trope, however.
  • Piss-Take Rap: Anders has a passion for rapping, but has never been shown to be that great at it.
  • Pretty Fly for a White Guy: Deconstructed. He tries to dress in a hip-hop/urban style, along with trying to speak with AAVE, a few times. It is hard to watch to say the least.
  • Pronouncing My Name for You: He's really adamant about how his name is pronounced "Awn-ders", not "Ann-ders", as it is a Norwegian name.
  • Proud Warrior Race Guy: Ders is very proud of his Norwegian heritage, and considers himself to be the successor of a very noble and manly legacy.
  • Race Fetish: Hinted to have a preference for ebony porn. Though he is more often seen trying to hookup with white women in person.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: One-sided with Karl. Ders hates him for some reason, though it does not seem to be a reciprocated feeling.
  • Social Climber: Anders is a weird case in that his lofty ambitions are almost completely countered by his own reluctance to do any real work.
  • Stress Vomit: In "The Meat Jerking Beef Boys," he does this when he wants to confess to his dad how his life really is, but his dad tells him he is proud of him first.
  • Team Dad: Anders is two years older than the other two, the most responsible of the three and frequently mentions how, tough on them as he may be, he only wants what's best for Blake and Adam.
    • Even has a "Dad Voice." See "Monstalibooyah."
Adam: "That broke away easily! I am hella strong!"
      Anders: "Bad Adam!"
      Blake: "That's the dad voice."
  • Title Drop: In "Trivia Pursuits," Ders has the honor of title dropping the series while doing a mock interview with himself.
Anders: "What are my weaknesses? Um... I'm too passionate, you know? I've been called a workaholic."

     Blake Henderson
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mv5bzmizmgy4mzgtzwm5yi00mjm1lwi1mwitmjq4mjzjzmiyyzhmxkeyxkfqcgdeqxvynjq0mzq0mja_v1.jpg
"You wanna know what happened, Ders? I forgot all that stuff, Ders!"
  • Actor-Inspired Element: In the episode "Three and a Half Men," Blake states that his dream threesome includes Olivia Munn. On the podcast This Is Important, Blake has stated that he used to be a big fan of Olivia Munn.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Blake may not be as bad as Adam, but he still lets his desire for sex drive many of his actions
  • Ambiguously Bi: There are many examples of him being attracted to guys as well as woman.
    • In "Peyote It Forward," he hallucinates an older version of himself who tells him he participates in a lot of orgies involving men and woman.
Old Blake: "We are so old it doesn't matter. You know, play it where it lies."
      Blake [smiling]: "That's- That's gross!"
Old Blake: "It's not gross. It's love."
  • Animal Lover: Has been shown to have a special love for animals in several episodes.
    • In "Piss & S**t," he lets Karl stay at their house all day because he feeds his turtles. And in the Season 1 DVD release's 'Digital Originals,' there is a short called "The Good Life" where Blake mentions how he has turtles that are in "great health."
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Though Blake isn't the standard Nice Guy, he definitely looks that way when paired with Adam and Ders. However, he still has his Hidden Badass moments (e.g. "In Line") and Jerkass moments (e.g. "Best Buds").
  • Bumbling Sidekick: Blake and Adam often work as this to Ders depending on how competent he is in the episode and how incompetent they are.

  • Can't Tie His Tie: Sort of. His tie seems to be more messed up/more poorly tied than the other two at times.
    • In "Bianca Toro," it is revealed the brown tie he always wears was tied for him seven years ago and he just never undid it.
  • Clark Kent Outfit: Blake is noticeably in shape whenever his shirt is off or the entirety of his arms are showing. As an audience member, it is surprising due to him always wearing baggy clothes and never being shown to work out, outside him talking about his pole dancing class.
  • The Comically Serious: In "The Lord's Force," when Anders keeps starting a rap circle between the trio. When it gets put on Blake, he says with complete discomfort and earnestness in his voice, "I don't want it."
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Mentions how holidays are tough for him because he is from a broken home in "Six Hours Till Hedonism II"
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Mostly due to his long curly hair, Blake was confused for Anders's wife by an older employee in "The Strike".
    • In "Always Bet On Blake," during his magic show, Blake's hair is straightened and slightly wavy, which makes him look very feminine.
  • Erudite Stoner: Blake is almost constantly high, but he also tends to be the most down to earth and kindhearted of the trio.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: In "High Art," Adam and Ders steal Blake's unburnable American flag idea to make money off of it. Which Blake gets reasonably upset about.
    • And in "Menergy Crisis," when Adam and Ders cut Blake out of their singing group
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Anders and Adam. Though all three are constantly looking to hook up with women, they are also clearly obsessed with each other.
    • "Alice Quits" has some of the best examples of this.
  • Hidden Depths: Has shown an appreciation for the arts.
    • In "Webcam Girl," he is upset about JustAnna not actually being an artist more than anything else.
    • In "High Art," he is the only one of the main three to be supportive of Karl's sculpture. Even calling it "cool."
    • In "We Be Clownin'," Blake uses his art skills as a clown. Though Adam and Ders remark on how they dislike the art he creates, they are happy parents and "dumb kids" enjoy it.
    • In "Faux Chella," all he wants to do it Water Dance.
    • In the Season 1 DVD release's Deleted Scenes, there is a scene from "Muscles I'd Like to Flex" called "Blake's Magical Canvas" where it shows Blake working on a large painting of their three wizard personas riding and having intercourse with a dragon.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: In "Menergy Crisis", his singing is so awful that it gets him kicked out the eponymous band.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Blake is by no means innocent. However, his blue eyes paired with Anders and Adam making him look like The Nice One (and his overall Pretty Boy appearance) makes him fit into this trope... barely.
  • Kubrick Stare: In "Menergy Crisis." After having an Et Tu, Brute? moment, Blake ask Alice if he could do a musical performance for the office party right before Adam and Ders try to ask. When they walk in to Alice's office, seconds too late, Blake gives them one of these.
  • Mistaken for Gay : Though all three of the main guys are arguably Ambiguously Bi
    • In "The Meat Jerking Beef Boys," Anders's dad refers to him and Adam as "bisexual tweekers."
  • Momma's Boy: Has said how his mom is his best friend, with Ders and Adam tied for second.
    • In the Season 1 DVD release's 'Digital Originals,' there is a short called "Good Life" where Blake talks about how "clutch" his mom is after referencing how she sent them cookies.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Blake is in the best shape of the three and gets naked considerably more than the other two do. His "Usher muscles" and ability to stay in good shape without having to do any exercise are both frequently commented on.
  • Nice Guy: Seemingly the nicest of the trio, though he does have his Jerkass moments like the others.
    • In "To Friend A Predator," he seems to be the only one of the main trio to be willing to actually talk to Topher about him being a pedophile
  • Ninja Run: In "DeputyDong" he does one of these
  • Nobody Touches the Hair: Cutting his hair is a big no. And he seems to be selective on who can touch his hair.
Blake: "No! No! Come on, man! I look so stupid without it!"
  • Only Sane Man: Whenever Anders isn't filling the role.
  • Pretty in Mink: Blake's bear jacket. "BITCH BETTA HAVE MY HONEY!"
  • Quirky Curls: Curly haired stoner.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Played with in "A Tel American Horror Story." He finds glasses in the office's basement and proceeds to wear them while leading the other two on a ghost hunt. He takes them off when the ghost is debunked by Bill.
  • Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace: When officiating Karl's wedding, Blake calls for objections before raising one himself.
  • Teeny Weenie: Is surprisingly adamant about the size of his penis whenever it comes up. It's apparently so small, it's compared size-wise to a "lego man" and is labeled a micropenis.
  • Undiscriminating Addict: Though all three of the guys do drugs, Blake is the Most Triumphant Example of this trope. In 'Piss & S**t', a list of drugs that are in Blake's system are read aloud:
Alice: "... marijuana, MDMA, PCP, HGN, Lipitor, Adderall, Dayquil, Nyquil— why would anyone take both? Nitrous oxide, Benzedrine, Valtrex, Flomax, Cialis, and Birth Control."
  • Will They or Won't They?: Deconstructed with Jillian. Blake has the most pleasant interactions with Jillian, often referring to her as his friend and sometimes being defensive of her. However, he is far too much of a Manchild for the consideration for the "Will they?" to be taken seriously.
    • And in "Hungry Like the Wolf Dog," he goes from Captain Oblivious to Date Rape territory. But they talk after and are okay. It can be assumed Blake had no intention to actually do anything to Jillian. He likely got caught up in his own Innocently Insensitive joke. Him being high probably made him not realize it wasn't funny till after.
    • In "Peyote it Forward," Blake hallucinates an older version of himself who tells him that him and Jillian got married... then got a divorce because he caught her having sex with Bill. After Blake snaps out of the hallucination, he angerly says to Bill, "And if you ever let my wife chorg you, I'll have your head on a stick!"
    • However, in later seasons Jillian can be noted to get quite abusive towards Blake when in any position of power (e.g. "Death of a Salesdude" and "Save the Cat").

Recurring Characters

     Alice Murphy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1698454.jpg
"And hey, if you have a problem, some of you have my cell phone number, but don't ever call it."
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking:
Alice: I'm gonna eat your balls for breakfast tomorrow, with my Grape Nuts. Then I'm gonna murder you. Then I'm gonna fire you.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: For Jillian. She usually spends her time barking orders at Jillian, but there are a few moments where she proves to care for her.
    • In "Menergy Crisis," Jillian gets stuck to an inflatable that is quickly deflating. Alice is the only one to run over to help her get detached. Even throwing her food and taking off her shoes to better help.
    • In "TAC in the Day," Jillian is revealed to have been homeless before getting a job at TelAmeriCorp. Jillian gave Alice drugs, and Alice would hang out with her on her break. When Alice gets her promotion, it is shown that Jillian now works at the office too, implying Alice gave her the job.

     Bill
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_08438bad1f2b5bb024474a8866965c50_dd148d2e_500.png
"I'm rollin' so hard right now."
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Bill normally comes across as a spineless loser, which can make you feel sorry for him at times, but is fairly regularly shown to be a disgusting pervert with troubling views of women who deserves everything that he gets.
  • Straw Loser: Bill is the only character who can consistently make the main three (and anyone else, for that matter) look good in comparison.
  • Straw Misogynist: The later episodes heavily imply that Bill, the resident Straw Loser, is a Men's Rights Activist, clearly with the intention of it being a Take That!.

     Jillian Belk
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mgid_ao_image_mtv_4.jpg
"We are definitely gonna have our cats [bleep]."
  • Beleaguered Assistant: For Alice, whose awful temper frequently makes her order her around and punish her for ridiculous things.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The meek and kind Jillian goes completely overboard when given even an iota of authority.
    • In "Snackers," Jillian was put in charge of snacks in the break room and locked everything down and distributed snacks individually (as in, individual grapes, or strictly counted numbers of chips).
  • Bumbling Sidekick: To Alice.
  • Extreme Doormat: She is defiantly this for Alice. And she is sometimes this for the main trio, but that is most likely just because she is their friend and wants to help them.
  • Hidden Badass: Has been shown to be able to handle herself on several occasions:
    • In "Man up," she is able to intimidate a Jerkass at the bar who was bothering the main trio. She was so successful in doing so that he leaves them alone after.
    • In "Hungary Like the Wolf Dog," she is able to throw a metal barrel full of beer quite a far distance.
  • Girl Next Door: Deconstructed. Jillian is attractive and approachable. She is by far one of the sweetest characters on the whole show and has a positive relationship with everyone. But she has some Suppressed Rage that comes out nearly every episode she is in.
  • Just Friends: With Blake. In "Hungary Like the Wolf Dog," it becomes obvious to the audience Jillian has at least a small crush on Blake and is excited to be alone with him. However, Blake seems to be Captain Oblivious ... until he isn't.
  • Will They or Won't They?: Deconstructed with Blake. She has the most pleasant interactions with Blake out of the whole trio. But he is far too much of a Manchild for the consideration of the "Will they?" to be taken seriously.
    • In "Hungry Like the Wolf Dog," there are several moments that show Jillian being open to a romantic interaction between the two of them, but then Blake ruining it... then him getting Date Rape -y with it. They talk after, and it can be assumed Blake had no intention to actually do anything to Jillian. He likely got caught up in his own Innocently Insensitive joke. Him being high probably made him not realize it wasn't funny till after.
    • However, in later seasons Jillian can be noted to get quite abusive towards Blake when in any position of power (e.g. "Death of a Salesdude" and "Save the Cat").
  • Written-In Absence: Jillian was stated to be busy with the National Guard to explain why she missed a few episodes in Season 5.

     Karl Hevacheck
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/workaholics2x10venicebeachshirt_e1452028215196_1024x548.jpg
"Just so we're clear, I still do deal drugs."
  • AcCENT upon the Wrong SylLABle: In one episode, Karl pronounces chaos as 'cha-hose'.
  • Actor-Inspired Element:
    • In the episode "Front Yard Wrestling," Karl is in charge of filming the wrestling matches. In real life, Kyle Newacheck directed most Workaholics episodes.
    • In "Weed the People," Karl introduces himself to Alice's dad under a fake name, Kyle Newacheck.
  • Ambiguously Bi: More just straightup bi and less ambiguous than the main trio.
    • In "In Line," he is very cool with having a threesome with Ders and Ders's date.
Karl: "Male, female, it's all the same, baby, it's skin."
    • In "Blood Drive," Ders calls Karl to get him a bag of blood to pass off as his own. And this misunderstanding takes place:
Karl: "I'm gonna take the tube, I'm gonna put it right next to my wrist, and you're gonna cut me."
Anders: "No, Karl, I- I'm hemophobic."
Karl: "Oh, my god, Ders, it's 2015. Gay dudes exist. Get over it. Cut me!"
    • In "Weed the People," Karl and Anders take turns trying to assert their sexual dominance over the other. Both getting boners because of each other. By the end of the episode, they both agree that Alice's dad is the undeniably dominant one, as they both got boners from the dominance he showed over the drug dealer.
  • Extreme Doormat: Karl lets people walk all over him at times.
    • The main three say he sometimes doesn't ask them to pay him back for the drugs he deals them.
    • In "High Art," he lets Shame talk down to him.
  • Momma's Boy: Refer to Karl's Wedding:
Karl: "Blake, I'd love for you to meet the best mommy in the entire universe, my mommy!"
  • Nice Guy: One of the nicest characters on the show.
  • Prank Gone Too Far: In "Always Bet On Blake," when Karl and Blake are holding a magic show. It eventually goes wrong for Blake when Karl pushes him into the magic knife box by threatening to touch him with his penis. While Blake is staring out one of the holes in the box, Karl pokes his eye with his penis. When Blake gets out, he is very upset and on the verge of crying. Karl clearly shows remorse and puts the show on pause and walks Blake off stage.
  • Pretty Boy: Given due to Karl being played by Kyle Newacheck.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: One-sided from Anders. Though Karl never seems to quite understand how much Ders doesn't like him.
Karl: "Oh, Ders, man. I'm glad you called, dude. I was sensing, like, some really weird vibes between us, you know, almost like we weren't friends or something."
  • Stink Snub: Has been told he smells like (and is) "trash water" several times.
    • Deconstructed in "In Line." Jenny, Ders's date, tricks Ders by putting Karl's underwear in his mouth and saying that it is hers. He says they taste like "butterscotch" and licked at them so much that they were damp after. Then later Karl gets Ders to smell his fingers under the pretense that he just had sex with Jenny. After Ders says his fingers smell good, Karl admits he just stuck them up his own butt.

"Man, that's 1,200 dollars worth of premium sex toys."
  • Ambiguously Brown:
    • He has a Spanish surname, but acts stereotypically black, Jive Turkey accent and all. The possibility of him being mixed race never seems to cross anyone's mind.
      Blake: He's black?
Adam: There's no way to tell.
  • Happily Married: Colleen and Montez are very happily married and know how to keep their sex lives interesting.
