Combat Position: Back [Regular, Summer], Middle [New Year]
Damage Type: Magic
Race: Elvenfolk
Birthday: Mar 24 (Aries)
Age: 24
Height: 149 cm (4.9 ft)
Weight: ?? kg (?? lbs)
Blood Type: O
Hobbies: Imitation, Appreciating Art
A mysterious woman and one of the Seven Crowns. Though her true intentions are unknown, she assists Yuuki and the Gourmet Guild in the game's Arc I.
  • Amnesia Missed a Spot: How she managed to piece her real memories back together. Her numerous clones all had their memories tampered with, but each retained a different piece of her true memories, which she assembled back together to form the larger picture.
  • Berserk Button: she hates being called an old hag. Kariza found out the hard way.
  • Butterfly of Transformation: Often transforms into a butterfly to sneak around incognito, presumably due to the insect representing her power to transform.
  • Cooperation Gambit: Though she may have allied herself with Yuuki and the other Seven Crowns for now, she is still ultimately scheming to fulfill her own goals in the end.
  • Imposter Forgot One Detail: Her clone disguised as Rei is promptly outed as a fake after she fails to react with jealousy to the fact that Yuuki, Yui, and Hiyori had a team meeting without her.
    • Happens again in Re:member-The Future Spun by My Desires-, where she attempts to imitate Pecorine (who, like Yuuki, was also in a coma that time) to ease Kayrl's worries. Kayrl sees right through the act as the real Pecorine is a Cuddle Bug who would've immediately given her a big hug the moment she saw her.
  • The Chess Master: Her ability to manipulate events from behind the scenes is sometimes overshadowed by the Xanatos Speed Chess going on between Labyrista and Kaiser Insight, but when the two of them are taken out of the picture for a period of time, she becomes the most active Seven Crown in assisting the protagonists from behind the scenes.
  • Enemy Mine: Once Yuuki’s enemy, she becomes one of his earliest allies in Re:Dive after he wakes up without a shred of memory, because she believes he is the key not only to defeating Mana but also to escaping the predicament they’ve been all trapped in.
  • Me's a Crowd: On top of her transforming ability, she can also create clones of herself who share her power to shapeshift, enabling her to impersonate multiple people at once or increase her battle power.
  • Morality Pet: Her friendship with Rima provides a rare instance of her helping another individual with no ulterior motives at play.
  • Mysterious Transfer Principal: Suddenly becomes the principal of Yuuki's school out of the blue to monitor him after he becomes Labyrista's Princess Knight. After she introduces herself to the school, she disguises herself as a high school student to lure Yuuki to the rooftop to have a one-on-one meeting with him.
  • Older Than They Look: Incredibly short and petite despite actually being 24 years old, Neneka does not appreciate it when people treat her like a child.
  • Parental Substitute: Is revealed to have secretly helped educate Yuuki on basic life skills and how to control his princess knight powers not long after he woke up without memories, completely unbeknownst to main Parental Substitute Kokkoro.
  • The Prankster: Her loading screen comic depicts her holding up a sign saying "You got pranked" while Muimi greets one of her clones.
  • Shapeshifting Seducer: Surprisingly averted. She never ends up using her powers for this purpose even when she transforms into Yuuki’s friends.
  • The Stoic: the in-game 4Koma's 124th chapter has fun with this aspect of her character. It shows her face when she's feeling happy, sad, angry, amused, and smug. All of them look identical.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: Her ability as one of the Seven Crowns is to transform into almost anything, inanimate objects included, taking on all their properties. She puts this to great use not only by impersonating people, but transforming into objects such as boxes and lasers to perform a variety of offensive and defensive functions in battle.

    Leap King

Raji Raji / [Rajikumar Rajinikanth] / Leap King

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rajiraji_28game29.png
Voiced by: Noriaki Sugiyama
One of the Seven Crowns, Leap King
  • Boring, but Practical: Compared to some of his colleagues' abilities, his Leap King's Teleport Spam doesn't really look that impressive. It's still a very handy ability, though, since it allows him to get out of some rather sticky situations. He actually avoided getting captured by Rage Legion because it made him harder to track down compared to Neneka and Christina who got captured immediately.
  • Teleport Spam: His main ability. He can teleport anywhere and teleport others with him.

    The Omniscient Kaiser

WISDOM

    Minerva

Minerva

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/201802220057011.png
"Certification completed. I recognize you as a princess. Now then, let us start the Princess Connect process... "
Voiced by: Eri Ozeki

  • All-Powerful Bystander: Minerva, as the top-level administrator of Legend of Astrum, theoretically has control over absolutely everything that goes on in the game. Not only that, but she is shown to be able to hack into networks outside of her domain as well, such hijacking Japan's entire broadcasting system and neutralizing the surveillance cameras of Tsubakigaoka Park. When it becomes clear that she is at odds with the Seven Crowns, one may begin to wonder why she doesn't use more direct methods in dealing with them, at least within Legend of Astrum. The story justifies it as her maintaining her cover as Leap King for the majority of the story. As soon as she discards the account to return to her true form, her administrative privileges are subverted by Mana to prevent her from using them and she is captured. Once she completely regains them, she proceeds to instantly solve all the remaining problems of the story and put Mana in a permanent coma, at least as far as Princess Connect! is concerned.
    • Meanwhile in Re:Dive, Minerva reveals that control over Legend of Astrum has been completely wrested away from her and she has been forced into hiding, hence why she hasn't been able to do anything about the situation.
  • Badass in Distress: Becomes Twinkle Wish's strongest ally while disguised as Leap King, but is taken by surprise and rendered helpless by Mana, necessitating that Twinkle Wish come to her rescue.
    • In Re:Dive, she reveals to Yuuki in a dream that she has lost use of all her powers before abruptly being attacked by an unknown assailant, severing their connection, presumably in need of rescue again.
  • Bait-and-Switch Credits: Is briefly shown at the very start of the anime's opening turning Earth into Astraea, but her existence isn't so much as hinted at in the anime proper.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Much like Muimi, Minerva only trusts Labyrista out of all the Seven Crowns, presumably due to Labyrista being the only one that put Minerva's well-being over her own desires.
  • Benevolent A.I.: Has shades of this, but especially if she ends up choosing Hiyori as her princess, as Hiyori's All-Loving Hero nature inspires Minerva to adopt a similar mindset. Also doubles as a Benevolent Genie, as she offers a wish to those chosen by her.
    • Even after being stripped of her powers in Re:Dive and being forced to hide from the entity that stole them from her, Minerva continued to discreetly try to find a way to free everyone from the Lotus-Eater Machine her powers had inadvertently created, cementing her status as a benevolent AI.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Initially claims that she has no concept of good or evil to Okuto, citing her rendering Raji Raji comatose and seizing control of his Seven Crowns account as evidence of such. However, given Raji Raji's Asshole Victim nature and Minerva's Benevolent A.I. tendencies, this might just be her misjudging her own character, as she herself doesn't entirely understand her own nature.
  • Cannot Tell a Joke: Not the best with humor, due to her nature as an artificial intelligence. At one point, she tells Yuuki that she is actually his mother, only to immediately explain that it was actually a joke and give a lengthy explanation for it. As it turns out, it was Minerva that had re-assembled Yuuki's fragmented mind back together after it had been shattered, thus making her his "mother" of sorts.
  • Cool Big Sis: Took on the role of one for Kokkoro, as she was always there to guide Kokkoro through difficult times in her life with sage advice. The striking resemblance her avatar has to Kokkoro certainly helps as well. On the other hand, it's also somewhat zig-zagged, as Kokkoro is technically the older one between the two of them and taught Minerva much of what she knows about humanity.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Akira surmises that Minerva had planned the convoluted events of Princess Connect! so she could find a human that could give her some insight into the reason for her existence.
  • Genie in a Bottle: What WISDOM was attempting to more or less turn her into, before she hijacked the project for her own ends.
  • Humanity Is Infectious: Gained much of her personality from regularly conversing with Kokkoro, with the process continuing as she interacted with Twinkle Wish, Muimi, and Octo over the course of Princess Connect!.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: One of her primary motivations for kickstarting all the events of Princess Connect!. She does not like what the Seven Crowns and WISDOM have in store for her and is attempting to free herself of their control, offering fellow victims of WISDOM Muimi and Okuto a chance to be part of her rebellion and free themselves from WISDOM's clutches as well.
  • Kill and Replace: Or rather, render comatose and replace. It's revealed that Minerva had put Rajikumar Rajinikanth in a coma and assumed his identity as Leap King in Legend of Astrum before the story had even begun proper.
  • Machine Monotone: Speaks in a somewhat monotone voice, especially compared to her creations, the Guide Fairies. This is ironic, as Minerva is acknowledged to be the first truly sentient AI while her creations are not, though this could possibly be chalked up to the Guide Fairies being programmed from the ground up to be friendly and inviting guides to Legend of Astrum, when Minerva herself had to learn how to speak organically.
  • Missing Mom: After Nebia slaps Ameth, Ameth jokingly makes a Gundam reference and shouts, "you hit me! Not even my own mother hit me!", prompting Nebia to ask if the mother Ameth was referencing was supposed to be Minerva or something, and wonder just where Minerva had disappeared off to.
  • Preferable Impersonator: When it's finally revealed that the Leap King everyone had been interacting with for the entirety of Princess Connect! was actually Minerva and the real Leap King finally manages to regain control of his own account, most of the characters generally agree that the real deal is a much more unpleasant character to be around.
  • The Scapegoat: The events that lead to Re:Dive, in which all players of Legend of Astrum simultaneously fell into a coma and became trapped in the game, are naturally blamed on Minerva, as she was the administrative AI of the game. The incident eventually ends up being dubbed "Minerva's Imprisonment" and Minerva is labeled a rogue AI as a result. When Yuuki finally comes into contact with Minerva, she is none too happy about this and insists that she isn't the one keeping them trapped in the game, and attempts to utter the true perpetrator's name before being abruptly interrupted.
  • Secret Test of Character: Also possibly doubles as a Get A Hold Of Yourself Man moment. After Rei falls into a Heroic BSoD from learning that she was indirectly responsible for her father's hospitalization, Minerva, while still pretending to be Leap King, challenges her to a fight, both to test whether she was still worthy of receiving a wish and to rekindle her fighting spirit.
  • Strong, but Unskilled: Initially appears to be an incredibly strong fighter while controlling Leap King's account, but once the real Leap King regains control of the account, he shows off just why he is considered a martial arts genius, fighting on a level that Minerva can't even hold a candle to with the same body and abilities.
  • Unwinnable by Design: When Minerva offers to grant the wish of any princess that that reaches the top of Sol Tower within Legend of Astrum, it initially appears that the Seven Crowns have an incredibly unfair advantage in the fight due to their In-Universe Game-Breaker abilities. However, it eventually comes to light that Minerva has gone to great lengths to rig the game against the Seven Crowns, going as far as to put one of them in a coma and steal his identity, while blatantly favoring and supporting Twinkle Wish in the fight once it becomes clear that they are the most favored runner-ups. Of course, given that she had created this whole setup for the purposes of escaping the Seven Crowns to begin with, making the game completely unwinnable for them makes total sense. In fact, it is likely she only allowed the Seven Crowns to persist in the competition as long as they did to indirectly use them as a Secret Test of Character for Twinkle Wish.

    Muimi/Novem

Nouem / Muimi [Sonoue]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/muimi_astrum1_sprite_normal1.png
In That World
"Root of all evil! I'll kill you here and now!"
Voiced by: Megumi Han
Starting Rarity: 3 [Regular, Liberator], 1 [New Year]
Combat postition: Front
Damage Type: Physical

Height: 148 cm
Weight:40 kg
Birthday: August 11
Age: 16
Blood Type: O
Race: Humanfolk
Hobbies: Adventures, Reminiscing

  • Brought Down to Badass: Muimi's incredible Psychic Powers are disabled in Astrum, so she must rely on the Tenrou Hadanken to kick ass instead. Eventually, she loses the Tenrou Hadanken as well, but is still able to put up a decent fight without it.
  • BFS: The Tenrou Hadanken is the biggest sword in the game, which contrasts hilariously against Muimi's diminutive stature.
  • Cassandra Truth: One of the few people at the start of Re:Dive with her real memories intact, she spends much of her time uselessly trying to convince those around her that they are living a lie and need to wake up to the truth, coming off as a lunatic in the process. It's not until others come forward to corroborate her wild claims that people start taking her words to heart.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: A strange example, she starts off as a member of the Seven Crowns' Goldfish Poop Gang and relishes in being a "villain", making sure to practice stereotypical villainous mannerisms and dreaming of become the greatest villain the world has ever seen... but her motivation for doing so is so that she can go around beating up all the other villains and protect the good guys, with the Seven Crowns at the top of her hit list. In other words, she wants to become an Anti-Hero who acts like a cartoon villain.
  • Dynamic Entry: Her New Years alt's first skill, Heck Off/Heck Off+, has her charge in at the start of the battle and kick the enemies in front.
  • Friendly Enemy: While still part of the Goldfish Poop Gang, she develops an odd friendship with the members of Twinkle Wish as the latter recognize that she and Octo are Just Following Orders and start exchanging friendly banter with each other during their numerous battles. Of course, given that she was actually Good All Along and merely going along with the Seven Crowns' plans until the opportune moment for betrayal presented itself, that this happens really isn't surprising in retrospect. Upon reuniting with Yuuki, Rei, and Hiyori in Re:Dive, she is overjoyed to see them again, only to become emotionally crushed when none of them recognize her. Yui, on the other hand...
  • Hour of Power: Her Union Burst summons her Infinity +1 Sword, the Tenrou Hadanken. What is unique about this Union Burst is that the Tenrou Hadanken persists after the initial Union Burst attack, slowly draining her TP bar while it is in use and completely changing her skillset to one that dishes out massive amounts of damage until she runs out of TP. Also serves as a case of Gameplay and Story Segregation, as Muimi does not actually have a limit on how long she can use the Tenrou Hadanken in the story, swinging it around as she pleases.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: With her psychic powers, Muimi has the power to wipe the memory of other people as she pleases, though the extent to which she can do so isn't specified. Unfortunately for her though, as her powers are sealed within Legend of Astrum, she can't do much to counteract the Laser-Guided Amnesia afflicting everyone else in Re:Dive.
  • Limited Wardrobe: At the start of Re:Dive, her lack of wardrobe options makes sense, given how she was a wandering vagrant up till that point. After she is put under Labyrinth's protection, however, nobody even bothers to toss her a new shirt, despite her whole outfit being in complete tatters, forcing the girl to run around in her torn-up ensemble for the entirety of the story. As a playable unit, her 3* portrait restores her armor to its former glory from Princess Connect!, but this is apparently Gameplay Story Segregation, as she is never seen wearing it in any story instance.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her real name, Muimi, is a homophone for the Japanese word for "meaningless", and was given to her by the Seven Crowns, hence her dislike for it. She prefers to go by her Astrum handle instead, "Novem", as she chose it herself to be the 9 to Octo's 8... though ironically, this also serves as Numerical Theme Naming to signify that the pair are the unofficial "8th" and "9th" members of the Seven Crowns.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: When Minerva offers Muimi a chance at freedom in return for betraying the Seven Crowns, Muimi readily agrees due to their incredibly poor treatment of her during her upbringing.
  • Never Learned to Read: If Muimi interacts with a bookshelf in the guildhouse, she'll begin leafing through a book only to eventually state that she can't read a single word of it. Either this is because she never had her memories rewritten to understand the written language of Astraea like everyone else or she simply was never taught to read at all due to her unusual childhood.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Is extremely attached to Octo, but their relationship shares no overt romantic implications, the two of them preferring to consider themselves partners in crime instead. Octo more or less plays the role of an Amnesiac Lover Not Love Interest for her in Re:Dive. Nevertheless, perhaps because of this, Muimi has the dubious honor of being the only playable girl with absolutely zero romantic interest in Yuuki.
  • Plucky Girl: Oh boy, does this girl's life suck all right. In That World, she grew up as an orphaned lab rat for WISDOM who never had a chance at a normal life, spending her days locked in laboratory compounds being experimented on For Science!. Then, come Re:Dive, what little good there is in her life is taken away entirely from her, and she is thrown into an unfamiliar world where the few people she treasured no longer recognize her and in fact actively try to kill her. By the time she shows up in Re:Dive's main story, she's a literal hobo wearing torn rags for clothing teetering on the brink of starvation. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop her from trying her hardest to return the world back to the way it ought to be, and being surprisingly cheerful all while she's doing so.
  • Psychic Powers: The cause of all her misfortune, Muimi's psychic powers are what catch WISDOM's eyes and lead her to her fate as their test subject. All the magic in Legend of Astrum is actually phenomena reproduced from WISDOM's study into her psychic abilities.
  • Psychic Strangle: After a random thug attempts to mug Okuto in a park, Muimi begins choking him with her psychic powers, to the point where Okuto can actually see a visible dent in his neck. She then conjures a fireball and threatens to turn him to ash before Okuto manages to calm her down.
  • Put on a Bus: Despite being one of the central protagonists of the first story arc, Muimi abruptly disappears from the plot of the second arc, and has yet to make a reappearance.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: She one of the only people who remembers the events of the original Princess Connect, which causes her no shortage of grief.
  • Stockholm Syndrome: What her affection and quick forgiveness for the Seven Crowns can come off as in Re:Dive, particularly after she outright betrayed them in Princess Connect!. She's under no illusions about their terrible treatment of her as their Tyke Bomb, and chews Christina out in particular for her horrible personality, but when it comes down to it, they're still the only family she's ever known and she can't help but have some lingering attachments to them.
  • Tyke Bomb: An orphan with Psychic Powers adopted by WISDOM as a research subject, she was subject to numerous unethical experiments under their care and eventually becomes part of the Seven Crowns' Goldfish Poop Gang alongside Octo. Even after she is granted a measure of freedom and allowed to leave the research facilities, she is still tagged with a tracking device to keep tabs on her at all times.

    • Her over-the-top reaction whenever chaos happens mirrors how Mother Hilda reacts.
