Anime and Manga

• In Digimon Universe: App Monsters, Cameramon, as in a camera-based Appmon for recording or capturing images, and his sensitivity about the pronunciation of his name.
  Gatchmon: Who are you!?
  Cameramon: Cameramon!
  Haru: Caameramon?
  Cameramon: It's not Caameramon... CAMERA ...mon
  Haru: Caamera...

• In the anime of Sword Art Online, when Kirito first sees the name of A Lfheim Online, he pronounces it ALF-haym. Later on, his friend informs him that it's actually pronounced "ALV-haym", with the F being pronounced as a V.

Comedy

• Mike Birbiglia, who pronounces his Italian last name "Bur-big-lee-ah", was "corrected" on the proper pronunciation once after a show.
  Some Guy: You know, in Italy, it's pronounced "Beer-beel-ya".
  Mike: Yeah, well, in America, you're an asshole.
  Mike: It was a hard name to have growing up. People would call me names like "Birbiglebug" and "Birbibliography" and "Faggot". Some were more clever than others.
• Jimmy Carr had a joke where he mentioned how he read the word "chav" before actually hearing it, and thought it was pronounced "shav".
• Jarred Christmas has a bit detailing a prank he wants to play on his then-newborn daughter: Deliberately teach her to pronounce one word wrong, and hope that she never encounters that word outside the house until she's a teenager, where she embarrasses herself at a party by saying it.
• Dawn French had a bit where she would show off her new dress saying "It's by Pinay — J.C. Pinay".
• In one skit, Tim Wilson begins talking about hummus, which he pronounces "hoo-moos". After an audience member tells him that it's pronounced "hum-us", he defends himself by saying that his wife's Israeli and serves it all the time, then questions how much "hoo-moos" the audience member has eaten in his lifetime.

Comic Books

• An issue of The Batman Adventures had Commissioner Gordon seeking out a crime informant named "Wiesel". Gordon, like every other character this man had ever encountered, pronounces the name to rhyme with "weasel". He tries to tell Gordon that the accent is on the second syllable, but gets cut off.
• In the Marvel Mangaverse, Benjamin Grimm's first name is pronounced as it is in Hebrew: "Ben-ya-MEEN". Johnatha insultingly emphasizes the pronunciation with an eyeroll whenever she talks about him; maybe she's sick of being corrected.

Fan Works

• Pacific: World War II U.S. Navy Shipgirls absolutely loves making this joke in regards to Louisville. Pretty much everyone gets Louisville's name pronounced wrong, including her two older sisters Northampton and Chester. Just see yourself.
• Runaway Wind: The confusion between "χ-blade" and "keyblade" is brought up, with the characters agreeing to just call it the "X-blade" to avoid this.
• Steven Universe: Alternate Future: Black Rutile keeps pronouncing Connie's last name, Maheswaran, wrong.

Films — Animated

• In The BFG, due to their severe lack of education, the Giants frequently mispronounce words in the English language; even the BFG refers to human beings as "human beans". During the climax of the film, when Fleshlumpeater refers to the BFG as being more like a "human bean", the BFG defiantly corrects him.
• In the first Lilo & Stitch movie, one of the aliens mispronounces Earth as "Ee-Arth."
• Ralph Breaks the Internet:
  • Ralph mispronounces "Wi-Fi" as "whiffy," and then "wifey".
  • Spamley pronounces "Des Moines, Iowa" by verbalizing all letters. The "s" sounds are supposed to be silent.
  • Vanellope pronounces the word "lingerie" as "linger-ee".
• In Shrek the Third, when Shrek and Donkey are going to find the young Arthur.
  Donkey: [reading the word "Worcestershire" off the arch] War-sess-turr-shy-ree. Ooh, sounds fancy!
  Shrek: It's Worcestershire (wuss-turr-sheer).
  Donkey: Like the sauce?

Films — Live-Action

• The Abominable Dr. Phibes: "How do you pronounces this name? Phy-bees?"
• In The Dark Knight Rises, when Bruce and Selina (aka Catwoman) (portrayed by Anne Hathaway) are dancing at the masquerade ball:
  Selina: His wife's in Ibiza. She left her diamonds behind, though. Worried they might get stolen.
  Bruce: Mm. It's pronounced "I-beeth-a". You wouldn't want any of these folks realizing you're a crook, not a social climber.
• In Final Justice, nobody Geronimo meets in Malta ever says his name correctly: It's "HAY-ronnie-mo" rather than "jurr-ONNA-mo." After a certain point he gives up on correcting people.
• In Get Smart, a George W. Bush Expy President (played by James Caan) pronounces "nuclear" as "nucular". Da Chief, obviously already on edge, blows up and corrects him (as Anne Hathaway writes in big huge capital letters on a piece of paper using a purple crayon, giving the Expy President a hard time not to see Da Chief before he explodes. The message written by a female agent? "DON'T DO IT, MR. PRESIDENT, OR YOU'LL DIE!")
• In Hail, Caesar!, Hobie introduces himself to his director, whose name he thinks is "Mr. Lawrence," but then gets corrected that it's pronounced Lau-RENTZ. This gets confusing when he pronounces the name as instructed, only to again be corrected and told to address the director as "LAW-rence." (What the director means is that Hobie can address him by his first name, which is Laurence.)
• The Hateful Eight: It's never explicitly called out, but an easily missed joke late in the movie is that everyone's been mispronouncing Daisy Domergue's last name the entire time; John Ruth and everyone introduced to her by him pronounces it "Dom Er Goo", but when she finally says it herself, she pronounces it "Do Min Gray".
• The protagonist of High Anxiety addresses his mentor as Professor Little Old Man (accent on Man), and is corrected: Little-Oldman (accent on Old).
• Count DeMonet DEE-Moe-NAY, not, The Money) in History of the World Part I. When he's Distracted by the Sexy, even he has to remind himself.
• In My Cousin Vinny, Stan's upset at the mispronunciation of his name. It's -steen not -st-eye-n.
• Pirates of the Caribbean: The argument between Pintel and Ragetti over how to pronounce "Kraken". Settled with "It's a mythical creature, I can calls it what I likes."
• In the comedic slasher film Santa's Slay, when checking in at an airport, the attendant reads Santa's name as, "Mr. Satan", to which she is corrected. "Actually, it's pronounced Shuh-TAN."
• In the film Serendipity, his character continues to pronounce mignon as "minion" despite a Frenchman's protests to the contrary.
• One of the prisoners in The Shawshank Redemption is looking at The Count of Monte Cristo by "Alexandree Dumbass". He is promptly corrected.
• In The Third Man, Martins seems prone to these Accidental Misnaming moments as he keeps referring to Major Calloway as "Callahan".
  Major Calloway: That's Calloway, not "Callahan", I'm English, not Irish.
• The Woman in Red: Teddy mispronounces David Bowie's name as "Booie".

Jokes

• A joke on a greeting card had George W. Bush ask a waitress for a "quickie". After the waitress storms off in disgust, Cheney tells him it's pronounced "quiche" ("keesh").

Literature

• Arsenic and Adobo: Lila's name is pronounced "Lee-lah" instead of "Lai-lah", but she apparently gave up on correcting people.
• Discworld: It's a running gag that nobody on the disc seems to get the hang of silent letters, so you'll have an upper-class father declare that Susan's method of beating up bogeymen is very "persikological" (psychological), or Shawn Ogg wanting to tell a Rousing Speech to the townspeople to encourage them to fight the elves and "pussike" (psyche) them up.
• In the Doctor Who New Adventures novels, Chris Cwej's surname should be pronounced "Shvay", but because everyone pronounces it "Kwedge" he's decided to go along with it. In his first appearance, in Original Sin, although his new partner Roz Forrester pronounces it correctly, he corrects her.
• In Fenimore Cooper's Literary Offenses, Cooper's lack of any indication as to how his characters' names should be pronounced frustrates Twain, who takes to referring to Chingachgook as "Chicago" because the words look similar and he knows how to pronounce the latter.
• When Lewis Carroll wrote The Hunting of the Snark, he gave the following about the pronunciation of some words in "Jabberwocky":
  "As this poem is to some extent connected with the lay of the Jabberwock, let me take this opportunity of answering a question that has often been asked me, how to pronounce 'slithy toves.' The 'i' in "slithy" is long, as in 'writhe"' and 'toves' is pronounced so as to rhyme with 'groves.' Again, the first 'o' in 'borogoves' is pronounced like the 'o' in 'borrow.' I have heard people try to give it the sound of the 'o' in 'worry.' Such is Human Perversity."

Live-Action TV

• All That had the character Principle Pimpell who was always annoyed when his name was pronounced "Pimple" (he had one) and mentioned his full name, William Baines Pimpell.
• The Amanda Show: People call Drake Bell's teen mobster Tony Pajamas "Tony Pa-JAM-uhs". He's quick to correct them by saying, "Pa-JAH-muhs!"
• Are You Afraid of the Dark? has two recurring characters who play to this trope. The first (and definitely the most memorable) was Doctor Vink ("with a vvvuh, vvvuh!") who was constantly referred to as "Doctor Fink". The other (and more in line with the trope) was Sardo, who would constantly berate people for emphasizing his name's first syllable, as well as adding the honorific ("It's Sardo! No "mister", accent on the do!"). The two actually met in one episode.
• Arrested Development: Maeby convinces her prospective boyfriend, Steve Holt, that her mom is actually a man. She then buys her mother a shirt, with "Shemale" emblazoned across the chest. As her mom sees it, Maeby responds, "It's a she-mah-lay!"
• Between the Lions: No one can correctly pronounce Dr. Nitwit's name.
  "THAT'S NITWHITE!"
• In Bones, episode "Mayhem on a Cross", crime evidence was found in the possession of a Norwegian black metal band named Skalle (Norwegian for skull). Dr. Brennan keeps correcting co-workers, she insists on "Skall-eh" pronunciation, up to the point where Cam avoids using "skalle" in her sentence, she uses pronoun "they" rather. Hilarious. When asked if she speaks Norwegian, Bones claims she knows how to say "skull" in any language.
• Brooklyn Nine-Nine:

      Jake: The Skyfire Cycle: A Bridge to Jerkata.
      Terry: Nuh-uh. It's actually pronounced Jerka'A. All the T's in Skyfire are silent.
      Jake: This book sounds impossible to read.
  • Played with in the case of Boyle's adopted Latvian son Nikolaj. Whenever Jake says "Nikolaj", someone corrects him ("It's NEE-ko-lazh") even though that's exactly what Jake is saying.
  • Scully pronounces "union" like "onion", despite having been the precinct's union rep for 12 years, to Rosa's intense displeasure.
• Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Buffybot pronounces Giles as "Guy-els", with Giles bemoaning the fact that Spike didn't even bother to program his name correctly.
• Comic Strip Live was mostly just about the comics performing, but one episode had a bit where a fake member of the audience was using a camcorder (A PXL-2000 used as a prop), noting how he could see right up the host's nose while filming, and the host took a moment to talk to him. The audience member mentioned ROW-DEE-O drive, and was corrected that it was pronounced ROW-DAY-O. Then asked what he'd done recently, the audience member said he was there buying "this VI-DAY-O camera".
• In Comrade Detective, Anghel keeps referring to the American jean brand as Jor-DA-KEY, and Baciu keeps correcting him that it is pronounced Jor-DASH.
• Doctor Who:
  • "The Poison Sky": The Doctor corrects Donna when she calls the "Son-TAR-ans" "SON-ter-uhns".
  • "Vincent and the Doctor": No one in this episode knows how to pronounce "van Gogh" anywhere close to correct. Most of then use the over-exaggerated, inaccurate British pronunciation of "van Goff", when the name is actually pronounced with more of a soft "g" at the end. Kudos to Dr. Black the art expert for getting it much closer than the others.
• Farscape:
  • Grunchlk, a character in two episodes as well as the Made-For-TV movie Peacekeeper Wars. Despite stating several times that it's pronounced "GROON-shlick", the crew still pronounces it wrong; probably because they don't care for him.
  • One of Crichton's hats is his utter inability (or unwillingness) to pronounce alien names correctly. This only serves to enforce the "dumb human" stereotype many have of him, despite the fact that he's easily the smartest person on the ship (he has a degree in astrophysics and designed and built Farscape One). At least nobody tries to pronounce his name as "Kreechton", but that would require the aliens to be able to read English.
• Friends: Joey pretends to own the Porsche parked right outside their apartment building, and every time someone says Porsche, he corrects them "It's por-SHUH!"
• Fuller House: In "Best Summer Ever", while Kimmy is stuck saying "Gibbler" in a Spanish accent after Fernando's big news, he wonders if they've been saying their name wrong the whole time.
• Green Wing:
  • Guy Secretan went to Whiteleaf Public School, but call it that and face his wrath: it's pronounced Wit-lehf.
  • Also appears with the suspiciously rare sport Guyball (pronounced Gee-ball) which may or may not be completely made up by Guy.
• In Hardball, Ms. Crapper's names is pronounced 'Cray-PER', as Mikey finds out to his cost the first time he meets her and reads her name off her name-tag.
• Horrible Histories has recurring character Cliff Whitely, PR agent, who always has to remind people that his name is pronounced "White-LEE" rather than "White-LIE".
• An episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has Frank recounting his former romance with a singer by the name of Shadynasty, who he named a night club after.
  Pedestrian: [reading the sign] Shady-Nasty?
  Frank: Sha-Dynasty, asshole!
• The original pronunciation of "Jekyll" is a minor plot point in Jekyll. When Hyde is overwhelmed by Tom Jackman's memories and is trying to master them, he manages to tap into the memories of the original Dr. Jekyll. His onlookers don't believe it at first, as this seems impossible. It doesn't help that Hyde describes what he's seeing as if he was watching TV. However, when he asks who "Dr. Jee-kill" is, they realise he must really being seeing what he says he is.
• Hyacinth Bucket from Keeping Up Appearances insists that it's pronounced Boo-KAY. "The Bouquet residence! The lady of the house speaking!!" Note that her husband always pronounces it Bucket when she's not around. Well, the sisters are all named after flowers... Apparently inspired by a real-life acquaintance of Roy Clarke who insisted their surname ("Bottom") was pronounced "Bo-TOME".
• In an episode of The Late Show with David Letterman, Bono shared an anecdote regarding an encounter with Sonny Bono. The latter told him his name was pronounced "Boh-no", not "Bah-no".
• In one episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a potential victim was reported missing by her boss, named Lavender. When Benson goes to see him for an identification, he corrects her that it's "l'VAN-der", because he's not a flower.
• M*A*S*H: Sgt. Tarola is from Joliet (pronounced JOE-lee-ette), but pronounces it JOLLY-ette.^{Fun fact:} The town actually has an old law on the books making it illegal to pronounce it this way.
• Mystery Science Theater 3000:
  • Joel consistently mispronounces "Gamera" as "Gameron". You have to wonder how he managed to get that wrong, since the monster is referred to by his correct name throughout the movie and it's spelled properly on the title card.

  Servo: (as Natalie) Paul! You is a warwilf!!
  • The crew use the typical American mispronunciation of "Waiting For g'DOH" when in fact it's meant to be pronounced "Goddo", which sounds more like Gorgo anyway. Played for Laughs as something of a Genius Bonusinvoked — Servo himself corrected the mispronunciation in earlier episodes, so it's deliberate here.
• Parodied with Ohlm in Odd Squad. When Oprah introduces him to Otto in "O is Not For Over", she pronounces Ohlm's name as "Olm", as though the "h" is silent (which is the correct pronounciation of the name — "ohm" is a different word entirely). Otto then pronounces it as "Ohm", and Ohlm responds that "it's pronounced 'Ohlm'". Otto repeats the name again as "Ohm", causing Ohlm to correct him again, and then Otto pronounces it the same way Oprah did. And then Ohlm tells him that he's not pronouncing the "k", causing him to become completely confused. Apparently it runs in the family — in "Odds and Ends", Ohlm's father corrects Olympia when she pronounces the name as "Ohm", but he does so by pronouncing the name the same way she does (which may or may not be a dialogue slip-up).
• In Orange Is the New Black "Look Out for Number One", Nicky’s father and now stepmother Les and Michelle talk about how Nguyen is pronounced. Les says “Nig-oo-yen” and Michelle says it’s “Noog-yen.” The correct way is like “Wen.”
• An ad for Psych had Gus find a number for "Dr. Kissyface" on Shawn's cell phone. "It's Dr. Kissy-FAH-chay," Shawn insists. At the end of the ad, Gus has called the number in disbelief, only to hang up in embarrassment when he gets a receptionist cheerfully answer, "Dr. Kissy-FAH-chay's office".
• QI: An episode had Lee Mack genuinely mispronouncing J. K. Rowling's surname to rhyme with howling, with Stephen correcting him by saying "It's 'Rowling' like 'bowling'." Lee turns this into a running gag, suggesting that he and Adam should go "boweling" later.
• Red Dwarf, "Kryten":
  Rimmer: You always put the emphasis on "Rim" in "Rimmer". Makes me sound like a lavatory disinfectant.
  Lister: Well, what do you want me to call you? "Rim-MAIR"!?
• Scrubs:
  • A recurring doctor with a prominent goatee often gets called "Dr. Beardface". It seems like an insulting nickname, but his name is actually Dr. Beardfacé. He is, however, annoyed by having his name mispronounced.
    Beardfacé: It's "Beard-fa-SAY", dammit!
  • Keith Dudemeister's last name is from German, properly pronounced "Doo-de-MY-ster". Keith and Elliot have both said it means "Master of Dudes".
• Sesame Street had a recurring segment in the late 1990s called "Cooking by the Numbers" hosted by Ruth Buzzi in character as Chef Rutheé. At the start and end of every segment she would correct the announcer by saying her name was "Ru-thay". The exception is the number 9 segment. As Rutheé mispronounces her own name in the middle of freaking out over the overuse of lemons in her recipe, the announcer corrects her with "Ru-thay".
• Cracking the case in an episode of Sledge Hammer! requires Sledge to notice a detail about a jewelry salesman whose last name is Smith, pronounced 'Smythe'. Namely, that the people who robbed the store knew how to pronounce it without prompting, a clue that they were helping him commit insurance fraud.
• Star Trek:
  • An example on the earlier Star Trek: The Next Generation: in Doctor Pulaski's first episode, she calls Data "Data", with a short A (dah-tah). He corrects her, as it is "Data" with a long A (day-tah). She asks what the difference is. He replies "One is my name, the other is not." Which is a Development Gag, since in the original series bible, the "correct" pronunciation was the other way around.
  • Star Trek: Voyager: A humorous example: Neelix searched through the replicator's database and tried to remake a type of chili, which resulted in a few crewmen getting indigestion, which Tom had to cure. Neelix comments that next time he'll cut back on the "Ja-lopenos."
• In Storage Wars, the Harris Twins debate about the pronunciation of the words "badminton" ("bad-min-ton" or "bad-min-tuhn") and Bocce ("Bow-chee" or "Buh-chee").
• Top Gear (US): In "Cult Cars", Tanner refers to his Merkur as a "mer-cur" for most of the episode. When he gives a test drive to someone who's a fan of the car, he discovers it's actually pronounced "mare-coor".
• Whodunnit? (UK): "Death at the Top" features a suspect named Ian Cockburn, pronounced "Coburn". Host Jon Pertwee gets some humour out of panellist Patrick Mower pronouncing the surname as it is spelled.
• On the BBC's Wings, Lieutenant Gaylion's surname is pronounced GAY-lee-un. For much of the first season, Captain Triggers refers to him as gay-lion, pronouncing it as though he were a predatory cat that prefers the company of other male predatory cats.
• Wizards of Waverly Place:
  Alex: Hi, I'm Alex. What's your name?
  Paul: Paul [pronounces it as Pao-ul]
  Alex: Oh, that's a cool name! How do you spell it?
  Paul: P-A-U-L.
  Alex: [confused] ...Isn't that just Paul?
  Paul: It's Pao-ul!

Music

• When Sonny and Cher first appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, Ed mispronounced Cher's name as "Chur".
• GaMetal: In both the official bio and the music video for Revenge Of Meta Knight, it's heavily implied that Gay Metal is the one way that you cannot pronounce it.
  Jonny, in the bio: "'Well, it's not Gay Metal', I told him. Not that there is anything wrong with gay metal, ya know."
• In "You're Not in Kansas Anymore" by Jo Dee Messina: "I wanna be the first to tell you / Here we say ro-day-o^note as in Rodeo Drive, not ro-dee-o."

Podcasts

• Chapo Trap House:
  • Felix has been known to pronounce caveat as "kuh-VEET" instead of "KA-vee-aht", and Amber has ribbed him about it on at least one occasion.
  • Will has also been chastised for having pronounced zine ^note  an informal, often self-published magazine as "zyne" (rhyming with "mine") instead of "zeen".
  • Amber owns Felix again in Episode 114 for pronouncing Geocities as "jee-YAW-suh-teez" instead of "JEE-o-sit-eez".
  • In episode 119, Will pronounces armistice as "ar-MISS-tiss" instead of "ARM-iss-tiss" and is instantly reprimanded.
• At one point in Cox n' Crendor, Crendor once pronounced "scarce" as /skärs/. Jesse lost it and poked fun at that for the next few minutes.
• Talkin' Toons with Rob Paulsen:
  • Rob often pronounces Steve Blum's last name as "Bluhm" instead of "Bloom" and has to correct himself. He also caught some flak for accidentally pronouncing Aang's name as "Ong".
  • He occasionally brings up the time he met George Takei and accidentally mispronounced the last syllable of his last name, only to have George correct him. He has done this in character when doing an impression of Takei on a few occasions.

Video Games

• 3D Movie Maker: Stick Stickly isn't sure if the Chooseometer is pronounced Choose-O-Meter or Choose-ometer (like thermometer).
• Beyond: Two Souls: Jodie Holmes's Non-Human Sidekick/Poltergeist companion goes by the name Aiden; Jodie constantly pronounces it "eye-den" rather than the usual "ay-den."
• In The Curse of Monkey Island, Guybrush misreads Madame Xima's name as "Madame X-ima", making it sound like "eczema" (the skin condition). She quickly corrects him (ZEE-mah), and he sticks to the correct pronunciation after that.
• Disco Elysium: One of the loading screen tips is that the city of Revachol is pronounced "REV-a-shol." When the NPC Gary The Cryptofascist insists on pronouncing it Revakol, the protagonist suspects that it is a political signal.
• In Fallout: New Vegas, Caesar is pronounced in the Latin form "Kai-Sarr" by members of Caesar's Legion while most other characters simply call him by the Anglicanized See-Zer.
• In Mega Man 8 the characters mistakenly call Bass as the fish. Of course, it's actually BASE.
• Monkey Island
  • Tales also has every single character pronounce "La Esponja Grande" with "esponja" pronounced with a J sound (es-pon-JA). Not until the very end of the final episode does Elaine FINALLY say "Actually, it's pronounced 'es-pon-HA' with an 'H' sound at the end?"
  • And of those who pronounce the word "Caribbean" as "CA-ri-BEE-an", only Morgan pronounces it as "cuh-RIH-bee-an".

Web Animation

• Spill:
  • Cyrus gets called out on this once for saying "Re-NAY-sance", instead of "Ren-ne-SANCE". He also used to pronounce Scarlet Johansson, Scarlet Yohansson, and still says "woman" instead of "women". Quite a few more examples exist as well. Among them - Korey used to quickly pronounce Ben Affleck's name as "Ben Ah-ffleck" and the guy's mispronouncing Robert Pattinson's name all throughout the "Remember Me" review until Carlyle corrects them.
  • Korey has a tendency to mispronounce Industry as "In-DUS-try" and Mario as "Morio."

• Turn Signals on a Land Raider: "Is it 'laz'? Or 'layz'?"

Web Videos

• Foreshadowing in Demo Reel, as the family who... take Donnie in get his chosen last name wrong (it's Du-pray and they say it Du-pree). It's a sign that they're not as caring about him as they first seem.
• Done in Dragon Ball Z Abridged with Freeza and Trunks.

• On an episode of Arthur, Prunella mentions she feels like a character named Persephone in a popular new book. She pronounces it exactly as spelled saying "purse-e-phone". A nearby Mr Ratburn corrects her with "Per-seph-o-nee". She later corrects her friend Marina who was pronouncing it the same way. It should be noted the books in question are parodies of the Harry Potter series and Prunella's mispronunciation of Persephone is a reference to how a lot of people often mispronounced Hermione when the series first gained popularity.
• On Bobby's World, Bobby's family name is Generic, pronounced JEN-eh-rik and mispronounced by everyone else in the world.
• Camp Lazlo: Lumpus's name is technically pronounced "Loom-pus", but the campers constantly pronounce it how it's spelt. The only characters who use the correct pronunciation are Raj (who has an accent) and Edward.
• This was done in The Critic. Jay goes to a fast food restaurant and addresses the clerk by the name on his nametag, "Pizzaface." The clerk of course responds with, "Hey, that's Pizza-fah-CHAY!"
• Dawn of the Croods: Aaah! Valley is literally named after a scream, you can't just say "Ahh Valley", you have to scream the Ahh out. "AAAH!! Valley". The Broods don't really get this so Grug keeps correcting them.
• The Fairly OddParents!:
  • In the episode "The Five Days of F.L.A.R.G." Mark Chang and later Wanda mispronounced "appendix" as "app-pen-dix". Cosmo is the one to correct Wanda with the correct pronunciation of the word.

• In Hercules: The Animated Series, god-of-where-three-roads-meet Trivia keeps having to tell people "Actually, it's 'try-VEE-ah'." Unfortunately this is a SLIGHT slip-up — Trivia in actual mythology was female and a ROMAN goddess. Her name would have been pronounced something like "tree-wee-ah".
• Used in Kim Possible, when Ron Stoppable's father mispronounces place names in Paris. ("Let's go to the LOO-vra.")
• In Krypto the Superdog, Kevin Whitney's neighbor Andrea Sussman constantly corrects his pronunciation of her name from "and-RE-ah" to "ahn-DRAY-ah".

When a bounty hunter reads Savage's wanted poster, he mispronounces his name as "Sa-vidge (just like "savage") Oh-priss".
• An accidental instance of this happened in Superjail!, when a Littlest Cancer Patient accidentally got into Superjail, the resident pyro reads her diagnosis on her hospital bracelet and mistakes it for her name, calling her 'San-ser'.
• An episode of TaleSpin features a shifty client named Weezelle. Although he is an actual weasel, he insists that his name be properly pronounced ("wee-ZEL!", accent on the third "e") at all times. Naturally, everyone just called him "Weasel". Eventually, this annoys him so much that he refuses to do anymore work for his boss "until you call me by my correct name." His boss, mind you, is the most feared and ruthless crime lord in the city, and has probably killed people for less than that. Clearly, Weezelle's name is important to him.
• In Teen Titans (2003), when the Titans meet Kole and Gnarrk, Cyborg calls him "Narrk". Everybody corrects him that it is pronounced "Guh-narrk", much to Cyborg's confusion.
• In an episode of T.U.F.F. Puppy Dudley Puppy gets a letter from a new nemesis called the Chameleon, but he mispronounces his name as "Cham-a-lee-on" at first.
