  • 11th-Hour Superpower: Ruby found out she can turn herself into a humanoid Zinogre, complete with electrical powers!
    Crimson Lightning - Zinogre Ruby
  • An Arm and a Leg: Ruby loses her right arm during the final battle with Dark Ruby.
  • Berserk Button: Don't you dare mention you'll kill her family especially Zwei in front of her. She'll cut you down. Dark Ruby learned this the hard way.
  • Blank White Eyes: When she sees Mustard isn't just some ordinary old man.
  • Broken Tears: After a massive fight with her sister, she's left a sobbing mess in her sister's arms.
    • And then she gets a Phazon upgrade courtesy of Dimentio...
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Do not flirt with Pit in Ruby's presence. Just don't.
  • Corner of Woe: Ever since she got her hip surgery from Medic, she became prone to sulking in a corner whenever she hears the word "chainsaws".
  • Crossover Relatives: In this series, her ancestor is Bisca, Alzack, and Asuka Connell.
  • Eye Scream: Ruby viciously cut out Dark Ruby's eyes to stop her from stopping time from her Semblance.
    • Ruby almost lost her eye when Grimm Ruby pressed on them.
  • Fainting: She fainted twice before and after her hip surgery due to the Medic's questionable operation.
  • Handicapped Badass: Despite her hip injury during RWBY and the Seven Sirens, she was still able to help out during the adventure.
  • Heroic BSoD: She tends to have this whenever the Chaos Kin or Dark Ruby are mentioned.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Ruby pushes Palutena out of the way and gets struck down by the Chaos Kin. Unfortunately, it gives her some PTSD from this.
  • Hope Bringer: Ruby's speech ensures everyone who's going crazy and despairing over Salem's war that instead of giving in like what Salem wants, they should fight her. This is enough to snap people out of their funk and convince them to fight. Those from other worlds are impressed with Ruby's speech. Even Chaos Ruby who has lost all hope was inspired by her.
  • Hybrid Power: She has three different hybrid powers and DNA through a Zinogre, plant, and elephant.
  • Laughing Mad: She had been through hell time and time again for an entire year and by the time she gets dragged into another universe just to deal with another version of herself that became evil, she finally loses it.
  • Love Confession: Ruby confesses her love for Pit. Unfortunately, it was in the middle of a battle with Phosphora, much to the surprise of everyone. Pit's a bit embarrassed.
  • Obsessed with Food: Chocolate chip cookies. She later develops a liking for beef jerky.
  • Official Couple: Ruby started a relationship with Pit since RWBY Uprising. Heck, the two of them are cute together.
  • Physical Scars, Psychological Scars: The Chaos Kin and Dark Ruby gave her plenty of physical scars. Dark Ruby, meanwhile, went the extra mile.
  • Power-Up: She gains the Rose Palm thanks to Palutena.
    • Funky Kong gives her the Crescent Boomerang. It was later upgraded by Seryu. The Crescent Boomerang can now split itself in two to create an electric vortex. The Split boomerangs can also drop mini boomerang bombs that explode upon contact. Another new feature is the split boomerang transforming into fast-moving buzzsaws.
    • Her Scroll was repaired into the one-of-a-kind Rotom Scroll.
    • She gains access to the Cyan Wisp named Bolt and the ability to call upon it for assistance.
    • She obtains a magic book from Pit that allows her to summon Wolf spirits to assist her during battle. She would later unlock a spell that allows her to transform into Zinogre Ruby and granted abilities similar to a Stygian Zinogre. In RWBY: Fell Star Strikers, it was revealed that Ruby has developed Zinogre traits in animal instinct, a stronger sense of smell and hearing as a side-effect of her transformation.
    • She would later unlock a new evolution of Zinogre form called Rose Zinogre Ruby. The newly evolved form has abilities similar to Thunderlord Zinogre. She would gain the ability to create electric shields. She can launch electric thorns to electrocute enemies. She can call forth Fulgurbugs to help her charge up. This allows her to unleash powerful attacks such as lightning shockwaves and a thunderclap move. Finally, she can unleash a powerful roar capable of paralyzing a foe.
    • During Chapter 14 of Galaxy 2, Ruby gains a transformation called Chaos Phazon Ruby/Phazon Ruby due to Dimentio's manipulation, uniquely this Phazon infusion lacks the negative side effects Phazon normally does. She was even able to enter Hyper mode which she used to kill the Grimm Core for good. She would lose access to this form after using the Miracle Cure to remove the Phazon corruption from the universe. Luckily, Yukari made some changes so that Ruby could still use Phazon abilities such as Phazon power-ups and summoning Fission Metroids, known as Phazonic spells. Plus Phazon Ruby's color remains a cosmetic option for Zinogire Ruby. However, Dark Samus ensures Ruby would not be able to fully control it anymore after Galaxy 2 as a last "middle finger" even in death. As a result, Reimu had to use seals on the Phazon Spells so that Ruby could use them as a last resort, plus getting new seals after use.
    • During Christmas, Ruby received a bow from Pit called the Romulus Rose Bow. This bow has a scope feature and sliver bows with lightning powers attached to it. She later receives a replacement after it was melted by Grimm Ruby.
    • She obtains Dark Ruby's Crescent Rose thanks to Hades. She would later combine it with the broken pieces of her Crescent Rose. One of the new features is the Crescent Crossbow feature, allowing her to fire silver arrows. It can be split into two Crescent Roses, both red and blue. Crescent Rose can turn its blade into a chain blade to wrap around foes. She can also summon the weapon to her by using electricity.
    • Ruby gains a plant arm with thorns (also known as the Rose Arm) to replace her damaged arm. The arm is very durable and immune to many plant-based weaknesses. The thorns can act like a whip that can be used for grabbing and climbing. The arm can also heal nature and grow plants.]The Rose Arm also allows Ruby to create a variety of things such as a chair and bridge. She can even form a red blade made from her thorns or a fist. According to Medic, the Rose Arm also extends Ruby's natural lifespan
  • Precision F-Strike: She's rarely one to swear, which makes the moments where she does much more powerful.
    • She does say "damn" after Dark Ruby brought her to her breaking point in the Lunar Sanctum. She later told Dimentio she was tired of his bullshit.
    • During her torment, she yells this line to Grimm Ruby. This catches Chaos Ruby off guard.
Ruby: I SAID GO TO HELL, YOU BITCH!
      Chaos Ruby: Whoa!
  • Team Pet: Zwei, Scarlet (Zorua → Zoroark), Primrose (Roselia → Roserade), Grim (Houndour → Houndoom ↔ Mega Houndoom), Kubfu → Urshifu Single Strike Style, Fleur (Bulbasaur → Ivysaur → Venusaur ↔ Gigantamax Venusaur), Fuchsia (Fomantis → Lurantis), and Flutter Mane.
    • She adopted an orphaned Stygian Zinogre and named it Cerberus.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Despite having been through hell and back, she refuses to kill Cinder after everything she's done, allowing her to escape.
  • Trauma Button: Mentions of chainsaws will cause her to enter the fetal position.
    • Dark Ruby was a huge one for Ruby for nearly a year until the latter's demise.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: She gives one to Kokoro in the 16th chapter of Galaxy 2 when the young ocelot Faunus broke down in tears after reliving her traumatic memories from the Daredevil Comet incident in Haunty Halls Galaxy.
Ruby: Hey, cheer up... you're anything but things your mother put into your head. You're smart and you're brave. Look at you, you braved all those horrors in Haunty Halls and you're still standing. No one will fault you for feeling the way you do… it's quite commendable being able what you do despite all that. All of us are going through a rough time because of Dark Samus and Ridley, and we're all still standing... even you. Despite all this, you're writing songs for Sea5ons despite what happened earlier, and heck, you put your life on the line to save Blake from that eel... you're braver than you think!
Kokoro: Ruby... You're... you're braver than I am.
    Ruby: Oh? How so?
Kokoro: I mean... look at you. Despite what Dimentio did to you, you're still standing... and admittedly, you look freakishly cool with the Phazon stained on you. You... you're braver.
Ruby: You think I'm freakishly cool? Aww... (giggles) Kokoro, let me tell you something… despite all the horrors I've faced with Dark Ruby and at one point, the Chaos Kin, I'm just as scared as you right now. I might have powered up and had Byleth calm me down with my fears, but a part of me still fears Dark Ruby… I keep telling myself that I'm past it but I guess there's a part of me that's still afraid of her. I mean, then again, when you can turn yourself into a Grimm, that can be pretty scary… She pushed me to the edge and even ran away at one point, but I've learned to push through and keep going, and the one thing I can tell you, is to do the same and to keep moving forward. It might take some time but you'll get there, I can guarantee it.
    Kokoro: (smiles) Ruby...
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: Whilst also on vacation at Paradise Island in Shantae's world, she spent the majority of her adventure there during the events of RWBY and the Seven Sirens wearing nothing but a bikini and her cloak.
  • Wrecked Weapon: During the final battle with Grimm Ruby, several of her weapons get damaged or destroyed; namely Crescent Rose, Crescent Boomerang, and Romulus Rose Bow.

Paper Ruby Rose / Chaos Ruby / Chaos

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Dimentio does to her when or rioting her with into his Princess of Chaos. Even after she’s deprogrammed and no longer serving Dimentio, he claims her change of personality cannot be undone.
  • Cooldown Hug: Ruby gives one to Chaos Ruby, which helps calm her down and bring her Chaos powers back under control.
  • Entropy and Chaos Magic: Paper Ruby gains Chaos Magic as a result of being exposed to the Chaos Heart, turning into Chaos Ruby as a result.
  • Fallen Hero: The events of Super Paper RWBY utterly break Paper Ruby. While she was once the same optimistic hero she is in the main universe, she ends up becoming the bitter Chaos Ruby/Chaos. After living as a hermit for a while, she’s been reduced to raiding villages and planning to destroy Beacon and Professor Ozpin for ruining her life. While she did stop thanks to a timely communication by Ruby, she became horrified over her actions. And choose to exile herself again until she is ready to return
  • Hope Spot: When talking with the mainline Ruby while she is being tortured by their Grimm counterpart, Chaos Ruby felt hope for the first time in a long time, only for Ruby's brief death to make her lose it. Luckily, she got that hope again when Ruby was able to convince her to stop her rampage on Beacon.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She had this upon realizing she has become no different from both Dark Ruby and Dimentio.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: Surprisingly averted, despite the personality change. She and the normal Ruby end up getting along.
  • Physical Scars, Psychological Scars: Dimentio ensured that even when he was defeated, Chaos Ruby would remain broken and traumatized.
  • Power-Up: Paper Ruby was granted the ability to slow down time thanks to Bestovius.
    • Chaos Ruby could later summon and create Chaos Bahamet.
  • Rage Breaking Point: The stress she had to deal with because of the Void, combined with the previous events of the series, causes her to ultimately snap.
  • That Woman is Dead: After going into self-imposed exile, she refused to be referred to as Ruby any longer, preferring to simply be called Chaos. The only exception to this rule is her main counterpart, whom she bonded with.
  • Warrior Therapist: She serves as one to the main universe Ruby when she is feeling down during RWBY and the Seven Sirens.
  • You Are What You Hate: Ruby pointed out to her, that she is becoming the very enemies she hated in the form of Dark Ruby and Dimentio, which horrifies her.

     Weiss Schnee

Weiss Schnee / Fierce Deity Weiss / Sheikah Weiss / Corrupted Deity Weiss/ Shin Deity Weiss

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: She picked up the Fierce Deity Mask that Young Link accidentally dropped thanks to Damian, and then proceeded to kick some major ass with it. She even got a title!
Blizzard of Death - Fierce Deity Weiss
  • Adaptational Badass: Weiss is proving herself to be a pretty capable and strong fighter. It helps that she's training with Lucina. Even Winter is seeing how strong her sister is becoming. She later becomes the strongest of Team RWBY after obtaining the power of the Fierce Deity.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: After seeing how much Ruby has been put through the wringer, Weiss wishes that she could take the pain away from Ruby somehow. The universe seems to listen, as the next several stories seem to be aimed at making Weiss suffer.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Weiss saves her team and friends from having a piano dropped on top of them by Gruntilda.
  • Cooldown Hug: Meryl gives one to Weiss, which helps calm her down and revert back from her Corrupt Deity form.
  • Crossover Relatives: In this series, her ancestor is Lyon Vastia, renamed Lyon Schnee in this universe.
  • Damsel out of Distress: After being kidnapped by the Wario Bros and locked in her room, Weiss decides to bust out of her room via her window. She is completely surprised when she finds Futaba and learns that her friends came to save her.
    • She escapes her prison on DK Isle and fights her way out, getting into a tough battle with Bashmaster.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: The power of Weiss's Fierce Deity form has a risk factor to it. If the Fierce Deity should ever get influenced by both stress and negativity, Weiss will instead transform into a feral version of that transformation. The name of Weiss's dark transformation is called Corrupted Deity Weiss. In this form, Weiss acts more aggressively and brutally. She also uses fire and darkness powers instead. As pointed out by Calyrex, should Weiss's anger not subside, she will be unable to tell friends or foes apart when transformed. It is later revealed the Corrupted Deity's existence is due to a fraction of Demise's power remaining behind. There is no way to remove this dark influence. Weiss and the Fierce Deity agreed to focus on controlling this dark power to avoid a repeat of what happened.
  • Dual Wielding: With her Fierce Deity powers, she can dual-wield her rapier and greatsword with ease.
  • Handicapped Badass: Despite being confined to a wheelchair a week after Galaxy's events, she was still ready to throwdown with Bowser with her weapon drawn.
  • It's Personal: Weiss has a grudge against Eggman for this reason. When they first encountered one another in Super RWBY Galaxy, she simply saw him as another obstacle in their way like Bowser. However, as of Winter's Dusk, Weiss has such an intense vendetta for the not-so-good doctor after what he did to Atlas that she unlocked a corrupted variation of her Fierce Deity form out of pure hatred. And in WSSP: Frontiers, it seems that her main motivation for heading to the Starfall Islands is less to find the Chaos Emeralds and more to make Eggman pay for what he did.
  • Mama Bear: When the Seregios wanted to eat Azure, she proceeds to take it down with a vengeance. She also acts this way when involving Manaphy.
  • Monochromatic Eyes: When she uses her Fierce Deity power, her eyes turn completely white.
  • Near-Death Experience: She almost dies from a fatal wound inflicted by Adam and Seryu. Lucky, Calyrex was able to save her just in time.
  • Ninja: Through her Sheikah transformation, Weiss can perform a variety of ninja tricks.
  • Official Couple: She and Neptune started dating after Partners in Time.
  • Physical Scars, Psychological Scars: The experience between Adam and Seryu has left Weiss feeling both the stinging pain and fear towards the duo. At one point, she even started seeing hallucinations of the duo.
  • Powered Armor: She gains an enchanted version of Seregios’s armor from Paultena which she can call upon any time she needs it.
  • Power-Up: The Schnee Orbitars were given to her from Palutena.
    • She gets the Eiskonigen Longsword from Funky Kong. It takes her a while to get used to it.
    • She gains access to the Blue Wisp name Lapis and the ability to call upon it for assistance.
    • Her Paper-verse counterpart gains the ability to create Ice Platforms for crossing bottomless pits.
    • She and Blake learned some DQ Spells after training in the Monster Community.
    • She obtains her own Fierce Deity Transformation after putting on the Fierce Deity Mask for the first time. This form grants many exclusive abilities such as Ice Wings to fly and ice clones.
      • By combining both Myrtenaster and Eiskonigen, she can create a gigantic sliver ice sword called Khione. This sword can unleash a trail of ice before launching a massive lightning bolt attack. The Sword can transform into a Kodachi when Weiss turns into Sheikah Weiss.
    • She learned how to do her version of Skyward Strike/Thrust called Snow Strike.
    • Weiss received the ability to use Nayru's Love from Nayru and can communicate with her anytime.
    • She received the Sheikah transformation from Nayru in ATMC: Skyward Sword. She can change into form by calling upon Nayru's name. spoiler: She can create ice clones of herself through hand signs. She can turn these clones into her monster summons as well. She can use shurikens and kunai to assist her in battle. She can use ice tag and kunai for explosion effects. In this form, Weiss can use a bow to launch light arrows. Weiss can perform pressure point attacks. She can even perform an ice mist breath attack.
    • When using the Chaos Emeralds, Weiss can temporarily transform into Shin Deity Weiss. However, she can only assume this form for a certain period before reverting to her regular Super form.
  • Pretty Princess Powerhouse: Weiss is becoming this, much to Winter's surprise.
  • Promotion to Parent: She adopts an orphan baby Azure Rathalos after its mother's demise.
  • Scars Are Forever: She has three permanent scars from the shoulder to the left side of the chest as a result of her fight with Adam and Seryu. The scars also glow when she is in her Fierce Deity form.
  • Sixth Ranger: Downplayed. At times, she (together with Mine from Team ATMC) may often collaborate with or perform alongside Sea5ons during their street performances in Toad Town either as an extra member for certain songs or as a substitute member whenever one of the members of the dance crew is absent.
  • Summon Magic: Her Semblance counts as this and includes so far, Arma Gigas, Seregios, Magnamalo, Glavenus, Ursa, Sliver Lynel, and multiple Nevermores.
  • Team Mom: She serves as one for Team RWBY, always showing concern for her friends whenever they get hurt physically and mentally. This personality trait grew more when she became a mother to both Azure and Manaphy.
  • Team Pet: Frost (Snorunt → Froslass), Razor (Sneasel → Weavile), Mari (Popplio → Brionne → Primarina), Tusky (Swinub → Piloswine → Mamoswine), Calyrex, Glastrier, and Manaphy.
    • She would later find and adopt Azure (Azure Rathalos) during Super RWBY Galaxy.
    • During RWBY: Wings of Ruin, Weiss also obtains several other Monsties. They consist of Ovi (Kulu-Ya-Ku), Kuku (Yian Kut-Ku), Susan (Pukei-Pukei), Kiran (Qurupeco), Saki (Pink Rathian), Deimos (Lunagaron), Glacier (Jade Barroth), and Midas (Seregios).
      • Tragically, she later loses both Ovi and Kuku after they are killed by Adam's Glavenus. Kiran is later killed by Adam.
    • During WSSP: Frontiers, Weiss temporarily owned several of her friend's Pokémon. The reason is due to their glitched state in Cyberspace.
      • For both Kronos Island and Ares Island, Weiss used Shiny Emboar (Dahuo), Talonflame (Phoenix), and Ursaluna (Teddie) who were owned by Yang and Mine's Gorebyss (Koral).
      • For Chaos Island, Weiss picked Shadow Rider Calyrex (Combined with Blake's Spectrier), Blake's Absol (Seer), Yang's Shiny Emboar (Dahuo), Talonflame (Phoenix), and Jataro's Marowak (Callen).
  • Twisted Ankle: Not being used to the gravity on different planets, she lands wrong and sprains her ankle. The injury worsened throughout Galaxy to the point Weiss needed the ankle to be put in a cast and spend weeks in a wheelchair. Eventually it was fully healed thanks to Calyrex.
  • Unknown Rival: With Eggman. Due to his actions in Winter's Dusk, Weiss holds a burning hatred for him with a passion. Eggman, though it's unknown how he feels about her, likely doesn't share the same sentiment.

     Blake Belladonna

Blake Belladonna

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blake_6.png
  • Adaptation Personality Change: In the canon, Blake is quieter and reserved. While in this series, Blake becomes more talkative and less negative due to her interactions with the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom and Smash Mansion.
    • This allowed her to not only make peace with her parents in Partners in Time but also stand up to Sienna Khan and call her out for how her actions led to the current reputation of the White Fang in the series.
  • All Webbed Up: She gets trapped in a web by Nina and put in a trance as it absorbs her Aura before being rescued.
  • Berserk Button: When she finds out about the cat maids in Fort Francis, she got extremely pissed and Francis suffered a vicious clawing from her as a result.
    • The X-Parasite and SA-X are a huge trigger for her when the 10 SA-X show up during the final battle at BSL Station, she snaps and goes nuts on them.
  • Broken Tears:
    • She becomes a sobbing mess because of what Adam and Seryu did to Weiss in RWBY: The Crown Tundra.
    • This happens a few more times during the BSL Station Mission in times of stress
  • The Chessmaster: You got 150 Diglett all over the Isle of Armor, so what does Blake do? She asks Luigi to borrow Hoopa and she gets the Reds and Blues involved, resulting in a competition between the two.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Considering the insanity in the BSL Station, you can't blame her for being stressed out, especially what had happened that caused her to do this.
Blake: I'm trying to stay positive but... I got eaten alive by a fucking eel and before that, I was in some kind of fucking trance from a fucking spider-like Metroid! How can I stay positive over that? Because frankly... I don't even fucking know!
  • Crossover Relatives: In the series, her ancestor here is Pantherlily, who is a black panther Faunus.
  • Despair Event Horizon: After learning that ten SA-X lurking about the BSL Station, Blake absolutely loses it and is by herself, absolutely hysterical and despairing to the point where she's unwittingly tuning out Calyrex and RWY who was just checking up on her.
  • Eye Scream: When she encounters the SA-X by accident, she attempts to try and fight it, but it proceeds to overpower her rather quickly and attempts to gouge her eyes out after pinning her to a wall. Luckily, Samus gets to her in time.
  • Face Your Fears: Blake was originally afraid of dogs but she has since gotten over thanks to a quest involving a Dalmatian.
  • My Instincts Are Showing: During RWBY and the Seven Sirens, Blake has zero problems eating the Werner Werman and also gets a kick out of chasing him at the end.
  • Near-Death Experience: Blake almost drowned after getting eaten by Serris and getting rocked around inside the body. Lucky, Samus was able to save her.
  • Ninja: Her fitting style and the way she moves count as this. Becomes a full cyber ninja later on with Shadow Recon Suit.
  • Official Couple: Forms a relationship with Sun at the end of Partners in Time.
  • Oh, Crap!: She has this moment when after Ridley destroys Neo Ridley, the former tells her that he was just getting rid of the competition, and mentions that since they're not in the Smash Mansion to hold him back, he can easily dish out his raw power.
    Blake: (whimpering) Oh...
  • Power-Up: Palutena gave her the Belladonna Claws.
    • She gains access to the Violet Wisp and the ability to call upon it for assistance.
    • Funky Kong gives her the Shadow Whip.
    • Her Paper-verse Counterpart was given the ability to climb walls thanks to Bestovius.
    • She, along with Weiss, learned DQ Spells after training in the Monster Community.
    • Gambol Shroud gets upgraded with Laser and Paralyzer during SPBRR: Fusion.
      • She would later get access to her version of Spazer Beam and Plasma Beam,
      • She also gets her version of Samus's Zero Suit with unique customization.
      • Before the mission to ZDR, the Zero Suit got upgraded into a new transformation called the Shadow Recon Suit (S.R.S. for short). The new features are Blake's helmet having full communication, a radio to listen to her favorite music to relax, and a stealth mode that turns her suit pure white before blending in with her surroundings.
      • Gambol Shroud also received a huge upgrade, her blade becomes a green Energy Blade sword. The katana can now shoot energy beams, it's fully optimized as an energy blade, and at high frequency can cut through anything.
  • Precision F-Strike: While she's not one to normally curse, she sometimes lets out a curse in the heat of the moment. For example, she calls Sienna Khan a bitch.
    • She calls Adam a bastard in a very emotional moment.
    • When it's revealed that the SA-X is mimicking Samus's powers, she is understandably stressed by the news and while making a video log about this, she lets out a few F-Bombs.
  • Sanity Slippage: While Rosalina took over her video log, we see Blake curled up into a fetal position and ranting to herself while laughing. Rosalina is unsure if they can snap her out of it.
  • Scars Are Forever: She gains one nasty scar on her abdomen and lower chest courtesy of a Malicious Metroid named Nina which keeps getting harmed whenever it absorbs her aura or attacks her. She later gets a huge burn on her back and three scars from the right side of the temple, going through the nose and lips diagonally to the left cheek thanks to Ridley.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Chibi!Blake's reaction to Ruby Mega Evolving her Houndoom.
  • Team Pet: Belle (Purrloin → Liepard), Minette (Espurr → Meowstic ♀), Zeraora, Luna (Eevee → Umbreon), Spectrier, Seer (Absol), Nargacuga.
  • Traumatic Haircut: Blake's hair gets pulled hard by Serris forcing Rosalina to cut and making her hair now resemble the canon Volume 7 look. Suffice it to say that the experience left trauma for Blake.

     Yang Xiao Long

Yang Xiao Long / Firecracker

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yang_1.png
  • 11th-Hour Superpower: When Yang finally is at peace with Raven, the former unlocks something similar to Ryu's Power of Nothingness called Order of the Dragon and boy, does Ridley regret it.
    Fiery Dragoness - Shin Yang
  • Abled in the Adaptation: Yang never loses her arm due to the Vytal Festival being canceled.
  • Arch-Enemy: King K. Rool, though later subverted in the fifth chapter of Super RWBY Gaiden.
  • Battle Aura: The Hadoken
  • Berserk Button: Yang got pretty angry when Bomb!Peach blew up on Ruby.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Yang came out swinging after K. Rool thought he had killed her, then saved her friends after putting K. Rool in his place.
  • Code Name: While working with the Phantom Thieves and Investigation Team on the Roman Mission, she used the name Firecracker.
  • Composite Character: A small example. Although Yang is rather faithful to her canon counterpart, this iteration of her is a Pungeon Master, which is based on her humorously flanderized characterization from RWBY Chibi.
  • Fatal Flaw: Like in the canon show, Yang's anger has been a major weakness for her which has led to several defeats at the hands of foes she faces.
    • Another is Yang often ignores the consequences of her actions and the feelings of others, which has led to trouble for her and her friends in the process, especially her sister.
    • Cutting her hair can cause Yang to become reckless, something Sephiroth was able to exploit once.
  • Friendly Rivalry: To Tifa. They're sparring partners, but the two are always there for support if the other is feeling down.
    • She's also becoming this to K. Rool, given how their latest spar was all in good fun.
  • Official Couple: She's dating Claude as of RWBY: Superstar Saga plus Bowser's Minions.
  • Heroic BSoD: She's pretty down in the dumps when K. Rool drains her Aura. She gets better.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: During Yang's fight with Cinder, the former is so pissed off that Cinder easily takes advantage of this and impales her while she's distracted.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Bea goes into Yang hard after telling her that her anger clouds her judgment, then she goes and explains that no one would want to be around her and asks her if she had done anything that made people dislike her. Yang's face says it all when she thinks of Pit and K. Rool before Bea mentions what she didn't do to Ruby.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: Yang got pretty protective of Ruby when Sienna wanted to talk to her.
  • Precision F-Strike: She usually keeps it together, but on two occasions, she dropped the F-Bomb.
    • First moment, Dark Yang threatens a haircut on her. Yang completely loses it.
    • Second moment, when she was down and out thanks to K. Rool, he threatened to kill Ruby with his Blunderbuss until she stood down. She reluctantly stands down and aims the Blunderbuss at her. This exchange was given.
King K. Rool: Any last words, firecracker?
      Yang: ...Go fuck yourself...
King K. Rool: Ooooh, someone's got a mouth on her! Don't worry, I'll make this as nice and painful as possible.
    • She called Princess Shroob a bitch.
  • Power-Up: The Xiao Long Arm that Palutena gave her.
    • She received two Cestus gloves from Funky Kong.
    • She gains access to the Yellow Wisp and the ability to call upon it for assistance.
    • The Burning Cestus that Funky Kong gave her.
    • Her Paper-verse Counterpart gains the ability to use ARMS weapons thanks to Bestovius.
    • She learned Final Fantasy Spells that she channels through her fists.
    • She would obtain a Shin Yang transformation thanks to training from Ryu.
    • She would learn a new technique thanks to her grandpa Zhang, resulting in the Drago Blazer technique.
  • Pungeon Master: Yang has a load of bad puns, resulting in a lot of "God Dammit, Barb!" from Simmons and Church.
    • It's worse now that she's dating Claude.
      • Gloria tends to hit her a lot because of this. [[Troll Neo]] also joins in. One time, Veronica exploded on her. Literally.
  • The Resenter: Turns out many people resent Yang for many of her actions in past stories. While she might be a good guy, her actions have made some people like Pit angry at her secretly and those like K. Rool go mad crazy at her.
  • Team Pet: During the series she has received a few pets.
    • Zwei which she shares with Ruby.

Nora Valkyrie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/beacon_nora.png

  • Crossover Relatives: She is the descendant of this universe’s version of Laxus Dreyer. Due to Ozpin having been his grandfather in this continuity, this surprisingly also makes them related as well.
  • Epic Fail: She proceeds to grill the "intergalactic greenhorns" by telling them that they have to be careful in space, especially with different gravity fields. What happens in Sky Station Galaxy? Nora jumps off a fence and breaks her wrist. Those watching at the Observatory facepalm at her carelessness.
Palutena: Well, that didn't take long...
Umber: (sarcastically applauding) Way to go. Waaaay to go, Lightning Rod.

  • Power-Up: She gains the Fire Brand. Later on, Daruk helps her manipulate it.
    • She also gets the Nikos Blade.
    • In Galaxy, she gets the Red Wisp.
    • In Galaxy 2, her original weapons were upgraded by the Luminary after they were destroyed by Data Master Xehanort, becoming the Blades of Milò and the Shell of Akoúo̱ (fittingly taking inspiration from God of War).
      • The Blades can be combined into a polearm while the shield can turn into a bow which she can launch Fire Arrows from.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Goes without saying that she's still alive here long after her canon counterpart bit the dust.
  • Team Pet: Leonidas (Falinks), Spartacus (Scizor ↔ Mega Scizor), Nimue (Nidoran ♀ → Nidorina → Nidoqueen), Alpha Hisuian Sliggo→ Alpha Hisuian Goodra, and Revaroom.

  • Where I Was Born and Razed: During Winter's Dusk, during her time under Eggman's control, she was forced to give the order to fire a nuke at Argus, her hometown.

Velvet Scarlentina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/velvet_scarlatina.png
  • Adaptational Badass: Her Final Smash lets her take pictures of everyone in the vicinity and then unleashes a whole photorealistic army at them. Pit, Palutena, and Viridi were impressed as they were wondering what her Final Smash was a few chapters earlier.
  • Food Shove Gag: She had enough of Cardin's bullying, so she shoves a Super Carrot down his throat and he gains rabbit ears, much to his humiliation.
  • Invincibility Power-Up: The Invincibility Candy made her go on a sugar rush and knock anything out in her way. However, it led to a sugar crash after it wore off.

Yatsuhashi Daichi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yatsuhashi_daichi.png
  • Giant Spider: While he didn't turn into a spider, he did gain the Spider ability for a time.
  • Power-Up: Doomguy upgrades his Fulcrum into unleashing energy wave attacks when swinging it, renaming it Fulcrum Delta.
    • He also obtained cybernetic gloves called Daichi Pounch, which can launch fireballs, lightning bolts, or plasma depending on his punches. This covers Yatu's weakness in hand-to-hand combat.

Team CRDL (Cardinal)

  • As a Whole:
    • Ascended Extra: The team has appeared more often compared to the canon.
    • Big Eater: The team can easily eat through a meal platter as big as the one seen in Monster Hunter: World without much problem. However, Russel admits that it took almost him and his friends a month to get used to eating food served in large proportions after they became regulars at Meowscular Chef's canteen in Astera.
    • Butt-Monkey: This team is often put in very hilarious comical situations.
    • Heel–Face Turn: Cardin and his team eventually decided to stop being bullies and make it up to their victims.
    • Power-Up: Ever since Cardin has been given the Diablos Tyrannis Charge Blade along with the Black Diablos and White Monoblos armor sets, the rest of the team have obtained their own Monster Hunter-centric weapons and armor sets sometime after the events of Galactic Conquest. Adding to that, the team was also given Wirebugs for faster travel and Scoutflies to easily track monsters from Palutena and Viridi during the 152nd chapter of Gaiden.

  • The Atoner: After stopping his bullying ways and becoming a Reformed Bully, he seeks to be a better person along with his team.
  • Adaptational Badass: Ever since the encounter with Magnamalo, Cardin has become a more effective fighter compared to his canon self. He has become strong enough to handle powerful foes thanks to all that hard training and improvement.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: This side of his becomes noticeable after his character development. While he may appear as a hard-headed and tough-looking guy most of the time, he's a big softie deep down who cares a lot about his friends and teammates along with making a genuine effort to become a better person.
  • The Bully: He was this for most of the series but begins to slowly change after a near-death experience with Magnamalo and advice from Ozpin.
  • Bully Hunter: He was like this when he beat up a gang of anti-Faunus bullies who were harassing Kokoro Kinokoshi, a young ocelot Faunus girl. Ironically, he would become The Bully himself later on until a near-death experience forces him to change.
  • Childhood Friends: With Blanche Sniegowski.
  • Cool Big Bro: He appears as this towards his little sister, Laura, and then later to his foster younger brother, Masaru Daimon.
  • Crossover Relatives: Like his mother and little sister, Cardin's ancestor is Levy McGarden.
  • Disappeared Dad: His father, Jason Winchester, passed away from a stroke years before the story.
  • Dumbass No More: Ever since Team CRDL's near-death encounter with the Magnamalo, he slowly develops off-screen a fairly decent encyclopedic knowledge about monsters from the Monster Hunter world with Palutena and Rosalina's help so that he and the others would be more careful around them in the future.
  • Fantastic Racism: Like his canon self, Cardin started with an intense dislike towards Faunus, often mocking and pulling on the extra appendages of his fellow Faunus students, with Velvet being his favorite target. His racism also somewhat extends towards anthropomorphic animals such as Lucario, a Pokemon, along with humans and/or humanoids with extra appendages such as Pit, a winged angel. Thankfully, he grows out of this mindset after his team's encounter with the Magnamalo, and his subsequent apology towards Velvet and Jaune.
  • Karmic Jackpot: He and his friends quitting their former bullying ways for good after a near-death experience with a Magnamalo has wholeheartedly put them on the receiving end of this.
    • His past experience with the Magnamalo influenced him and his fellow team members to train harder and educate themselves with anything from Monster Hunter, which resulted in them becoming seasoned Hunters and earning respected reputations in settlements like Astera and Kamura Village in the Monster Hunter world for the support they've given them. Not to mention that they've also somewhat become one of Ozpin's top choices whenever Beacon needs to deal with a Monster Hunter-related problem.
    • Ever since he decided to take up a career in music, he has earned his way to become genuinely well-respected among his peers in Beacon after he joined Sea5ons and highly popular throughout Remnant and the Mushroom Kingdom via his guitar-playing Lakitube channel, Eagle's Strum.
      • Cardin's current romantic relationship with Chelsea ever since he befriended her after joining Sea5ons resulted in the team becoming close friends with Team ATMC.
    • Soon, his team's heroic efforts in the Phazon War, ancient Hyrule, and Hakolo Island in combination with their well-respected reputations from Astera and Kamura Village were later recognized by the Hands as they granted them invitations to join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament under both Chelsea and Jaune's recommendations by the finale of RWBY: Wings of Ruin!
  • The Leader: He's the leader of Team CRDL.
  • Online Alias: He goes by the name "Eagle's Strum" on his Lakitube channel, where he records himself performing acoustic covers of various hit songs whilst wearing a different set of clothes, keeping his head out of the camera shot, and silently strumming his guitar to the song he's currently playing to.
  • Power-Up: Cardin obtains a Black Diablos and a White Monoblos armor set along with a Diablos Tyrannis Charge Blade.
    • He also later obtains Wirebugs and Scoutflies from Palutena and Viridi.
    • Sometime after the Phazon War, he gets a terracotta gourd from Palutena that can somehow magically produce limitless amounts of sand for his Semblance.
  • Promotion to Parent: Although their mother is still alive, Cardin does his best to fulfill the role of an older brother and father figure towards his younger sister, Laura, after their father passed away.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Levy's marriage with Gajeel Redfox and their family's split bloodline also makes him and Laura related to James Ironwood, with him being their uncle and Esdeath their adoptive cousin.
  • Relationship Upgrade: After several chapters worth of claiming that they're in a platonic relationship, he and Chelsea have finally accepted their romantic feelings for each other as they became an Official Couple together by the 166th chapter of Gaiden.
  • Sand Blaster: His Semblance allows him to manipulate sand and form it into any sand-based construct he imagines.
  • Ship Tease: With Chelsea. They often go into an Implausible Deniability by stating that they're in a platonic relationship and nothing more, though by Chapter 166 in Gaiden, they have finally gone through a Relationship Upgrade whereas they're now an Official Couple together.
Cardin & Chelsea: WE'RE IN A PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP!
    Akame & Mine: LIARS!
  • Team Pet: Mako (Gible) and Rocksteady (Rhyhorn → Rhydon → Rhyperior).
    • During RWBY: Wings of Ruin, he obtained an Anjanath as a bodyguard pet for his sister Laura. He would give it the name Jana.
      • He later befriended a Scorned Magnamalo after earning its respect from a fight, naming it Nobunaga.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Becomes a much better man as the series goes on.

     Russel Thrush

Russel Thrush

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/russel_thrush_4.png
  • Barrier Warrior: His Semblance allows him to create an Aura-based barrier that can protect him and his teammates. Unfortunately for him, this leaves him vulnerable to attacks as he cannot fight back while using his Semblance.
  • Dual Wielding: Shortwings, which would be later renamed as "Twin Shortflames" after being upgraded.
  • The Lancer: Apparently, he's the second-in-command of Team CRDL.
  • Power-Up: Russel obtains Rathian S (Blademaster) armor set along with Wirebugs and Scoutflies from Palutena and Viridi.
    • His Shortwings twin daggers also get upgraded as the Twin Shortflames, with the Twin Flames Dual Blades serving as the prime template.
  • Team Pet: Treecko, Neku (Yanma → Yanmega).

     Dove Bronzewing

Dove Bronzewing

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dove_bronzewing.png
  • Infrared X-Ray Camera: His Semblance allows him to sense/detect multiple heat signatures of living organisms through obscure areas and even through long distances. This Semblance especially comes in handy whenever Sky uses his fog Semblance, essentially allowing him and his team to do hit-and-run attacks on their foes while they're being blinded in the fog.
  • Power-Up: Dove obtains Wroggi S armor set along with Wirebugs and Scoutflies from Palutena and Viridi.
    • His Halshott gun sword also gets upgraded as the Poison Barbshott, with the Poison Barb Long Sword serving as the prime template.
  • Sword and Gun: Halshott, which would be later renamed as "Poison Barbshott" after being upgraded.

     Sky Lark

Sky Lark

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sky_lark_4.png
  • Mysterious Mist: His Semblance allows him to create a large cloud of fog in a surrounding area that can blind his foes, thus making it hard for them to see him and his teammates within the generated fog. However, the generated fog has a limited range and only lasts for around 10 to 15 minutes, thus requiring Sky to act fast whenever he uses his Semblance.
  • Power-Up: Sky obtains the Legiana β armor set along with Wirebugs and Scoutflies from Palutena and Viridi.
    • His Feather's Edge halberd also gets upgraded as the Legia Frostedge, with the Legia Frostreaver Switch Axe serving as the prime template.

Beacon Academy

     Ozpin

Professor Ozpin / Ozma / Makarov Dreyar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maya_ozpin_6.jpg
Click here to see his original incarnation.
Click here to see his guild incarnation. (spoilers)

  • Badass Teacher: Ignoring his flaws at the time, Ozpin is still Headmaster of Beacon and a powerful Huntsman at that. When Dark Xena says she will kill him, Reimu points out that even with her powers and without her weapon, he'd win. Something even Dark Xena agrees thus stating she'll get power-ups to help out.
  • Composite Character: In this universe, he was Makarov from Fairy Tail in a previous life.
  • Crossover Relatives: Due to Makarov Dreyar being one of his past reincarnations, this makes him the grandfather of Laxus Dreyar.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Felt this when he learned he couldn't kill his old love Salem, thus why he didn't realize the loophole in his question. Mewtwo points this out.
  • It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time: Ozpin thought it was a good idea to get Xena out of treatment early. Mewtwo rightfully calls him out on it.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Like in canon, he has been wandering the world of Remnant for millennia trying to stop Salem.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He does his best to help those who wander into Remnant and even aids those like Jade in finding her grandparents. Willing to bend the rules a bit to help out.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Him being Laxus' grandfather also makes him an ancestor to Nora in this universe.
  • Resurrective Immortality: Due to the brother gods, whenever he is killed, his soul will enter another person’s body and merge with them.
  • Rousing Speech: From Mewtwo of all people. After the two talk it out a second time, Mewtwo tells him of the loophole of the question Ozpin asked of Salem, and how in the current era, lots of allies can help him with Salem and the Gods. Ozpin is a lot happier realizing this.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Due to the Fall of Beacon being prevented, the current version of him never gets killed by Cinder Fall, and thus he doesn’t transfer to Oscar Pine. Time will tell if he ends up dying another way or not.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He thought Xena was well enough that she wouldn't need any more treatment and set her out into the real world. This backfires big time when she gets put over the edge at times.

     Glynda Goodwitch

Professor Glynda Goodwitch

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glynda_goodwitch.png
  • Recurring Character: She has appeared more often than her canon self, usually with Ozpin.

Roman & Neo

As a Whole:
  • O.C. Stand-in: Compared to canon especially. Roman has a bigger role in the series along with Neo, often appearing as one of the main supporting antagonists or heroes depending on the story.

     Roman Torchwick

Roman Torchwick

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roman_v1.png
  • Adaptational Badass: In RWBY Super Chibi, he has a Smash Move and defeats Ruby.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: He's still a thief and an antagonist, but he also shows several positive traits that aren't present in his canon self; being more friendly, honorable, and open to others than in the original series. He also gets along very well with the non-human members of the Koopa Troop while his canon counterpart was a racist to the comparatively more humanoid Faunus.
  • Affably Evil: While an enemy to Team RWBY, he's charismatic and when he's not fighting with them, he's friendly to them.
  • Best Friend: With Neo of course. Later on, it extends to Bowser as well.
  • Honorary Uncle: To Bowser Jr.
  • Manly Tears: After Eggman exposes everything, Roman attempts to apologize to Bowser, but the latter stops him and says he believes he would have done the same if he were in his shoes, and he also mentions he's still part of the Koopa Troop. Needless to say, Roman is moved by this.
  • Revenge: He and Bowser get vengeance on Popple with Neo helping out.
  • Team Pet: Lumiere (Litwick → Lampent).
  • With a Friend and a Stranger: Is this with both Neo and Bowser.

     Neopolitan

Neopolitan / Trivia Vanille

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/neopolitan_rwby.png
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: While still an antagonist, she hangs out with Luigi whenever she isn't fighting the heroes. In general, she also shows more kindness to others compared to her canon counterpart and evolves into more of a Friendly Enemy.
  • Best Friend: With Roman of course, as well as Marnie.
  • Cool Big Sis: Bowser Jr. sees her as one and she openly embraces the role.
  • Hates Being Alone: During the events when Roman doesn't remember her, she becomes lonely. Luckily, Luigi and others help her out.
  • Odd Friendship: With Luigi and Marnie.
  • Official Couple: Victor and Neo started dating sometime after RWBY: The Hisuian Legend.
  • Parasol of Pain: She upgraded her umbrella to a shotgun umbrella that fires explosive shots.
  • The Squad: Has her squad called the Frozen Squad, which consists of Slimecicle, Blizzybody, Snowgre, Silver Sabrecat, Luminous Lampling, Silver Sabrecub, and Chillanodon.
  • Team Pet: Vanilla (Vanillite → Vanillish → Vanilluxe), Galarian Articuno, Glalie ↔ Mega Glalie, Beartic, Abomasnow.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Cinder's exposure to the world made Marnie cry, due to her having shown her hospitality and believing it all for naught and that Cinder would have murdered her when she felt better. Neo is pissed off by this and threatens to kill Cinder if she harms Luigi or lays a finger on Marnie.

The Rose-Xiao Long Family

  • As a Whole:
    • Badass Family: As Huntsmen and Huntress, all members are formidable fighters in their own right. Even Zwei is more than capable of joining in on the family’s adventures.
    • O.C. Stand-in: Beyond Ruby and Yang, this family as a whole becomes more involved within the series compared to the canon show. They also gain new family members as the story goes on, increasing with individuals such as Rosalina, Byleth, Bereto, Dorothea, Maia, and the new pets.

     Taiyang Xiao Long

Taiyang Xiao Long

    • He also has golden Dragon Claws which he regains thanks to his father Zhang.
  • Her Heart Will Go On: A male version, with Summer telling Tai to move on and possibly date other women if he wants to.
  • Official Couple: He and Rosie started dating and became official at the end of Galaxy 2. He would later marry her as of RWBY: The Hisuian Legend.
  • Playingwith Fire: In this series, Tai's Semblance is called Dragon Fire. This Semblance allows him to channel the fire of a Golden Dragon for fire attacks and send a golden aura to his allies for a power boost.
  • Power-Up: With the Grey Wisp, he can use the Quake ability.

     Zwei

Zwei

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zwei_8.png
  • Action Pet: As per canon, Zwei can go on adventures alongside his family.
  • I Will Find You: Zwei immediately found Blake who was hiding on top of Peach's Castle, thanks to the Pink Wisp.
  • Power-Up: With the Pink Wisp, he can use the Spike ability, allowing him to roll around into a ball.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: As a corgi, he looks very adorable.
  • Team Pet: He is the pet of the Xiao Long Family.

     Summer Rose

Summer Rose

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rwby_summerrose_vol_6.png
  • All for Nothing: Not only did she fail to defeat Salem, but she abandoned her family for nothing when she killed herself. She also loses her own body as well. Thus, only succeeding in causing her own family to feel emotional pain from losing her.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • She was brought back to life by Maya to give her family closure.
    • She later came back on her own due to Dark Ruby tormenting Ruby.
  • Broken Tears: In the 31st Gaiden Chapter, Summer breaks down in front of her husband after admitting she's having a hard time adjusting back to her former home.
Summer: (while sobbing into Tai's chest) It's not fair... I shouldn't have been taken from them! I wanted to be with them... I wanted to watch them grow into the beautiful young ladies that they are! I... I wanted to raise them with you!
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: Even in death, she can't hold her liquor. She took three sips of a margarita and she was already heavily drunk.
  • Crossover Relatives: In this series, her ancestor is Bisca, Alzack, and Asuka Connell.
  • Demonic Possession: During Hisuian Legend, she got possessed by Spiritomb's evil wisps. She was later freed from it.
  • Death Glare: While generally kind, she will not hesitate to use it on Taiyang and Qrow. In chapter 5 of 3D Land, she gives one to some Pokeys in the desert (causing them to back away in fear) and Klepto the Condor (causing him to turn around and fly in the other direction).
  • Disappointed in You: She lays into Yang hard over everything that she has done, including neglecting Ruby. At one point, in the heat of the moment, she mentioned that Byleth would have made a better sister than her. This later comes back to bite her hard when she meets her Grimm counterpart, who calls her out on this and her other shortcomings.
  • Fatal Flaw: Impulsiveness. Like her oldest daughter, Yang, Summer tends to rush into things or solve problems she thinks she can handle. This has led to her death and caused problems, such as unwittingly making it harder for Yang to rekindle with Raven at first. Grimm Summer made sure to call her out for this.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: Summer states that those with Silver Eyes were skilled and powerful warriors, and one look from them caused Grimm to flee. Tucker and Church then quickly ask her how she's dead if she's so skilled, with Summer admitting she bit more than she could chew in her last mission.
  • Hypocrite: She calls out Ozpin and Raven for the secrets and abandonment issues when she ironically did the very same thing with her failed secret mission to defeat Salem.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Raven did this to her when the former thought someone was just using her body and face to try to let her guard down. Summer proceeds to slap her in response.
  • Mama Bear: Dark Ruby learns this the hard way after tormenting Ruby when Summer unleashes her fury on the dark clone. While she denies it, some believe Summer has reached the point of wanting Dark Ruby to suffer now. She also has this for Oran for instance, in 3D Land, she yells at Dark Pit to put down his Silver Bow and later gives a Death Glare to some Pokeys and Klepto the Condor.
  • Morph Weapon: Summer can summon weapons that morph into the shape she wants to such during a fight such as a scythe for example.
  • My Greatest Failure: Going on the mission that killed her, leaving behind her loved ones. Stating that once she's done with taking out Dark Ruby, she'll sadly have to leave her family again.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: Despite being a ghost, she can touch her family and hold Ruby. Too bad she can also get hit and feel pain, as with what happened when a startled Maya freaked out on her.
  • Take Care of the Kids: Summer asks Rosalina to watch over them once she returns to the afterlife for good.

     Raven Branwen

Raven Branwen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raven_branwen_profile.png
  • Adaptational Heroism: Manages to reconnect with Yang and her teammates, and tries to leave the Branwen Tribe behind before it was destroyed by Maleficent.
  • The Atoner: She seeks to apologize and make up with her teammates and daughter, although it will not be an easy task to do. She eventually succeeds in her goals during the events of Galaxy 2.
  • The Bus Came Back: After being absent since DK 64 she returns in another cameo at the end of Super RWBY Galaxy.
  • Dirty Coward: Like in the canon she ran away to avoid facing Salem, a fact she was too stubborn to admit at times.
  • Mama Bear: Due to her desire to rekindle with her daughter Yang, Raven has shown this more often, especially during the times she saved her three times.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • During a heated argument with her and Summer, Raven accidentally admits that she would have killed Yang if she were the little Spring Maiden. Summer immediately calls her out on it, causing Raven to realize what she had just said.
    • After hearing her daughter rant about her actions, she realized how much she hurried her daughter.
  • Odd Friendship: She forms an unlikely bond with Goro Akechi.
  • Parental Abandonment: Just like in canon she left Yang the moment she was born and makes it clear in her one appearance so far that she doesn't care about her daughter's safety. Akechi later deduces the reason she did this was to protect them from Salem.
  • Put on a Bus: Raven vanished from the plot for a significant amount of time before returning to Galaxy.
  • Team Pet: She obtains a Hisuian Zoura with permission from her mother.

  • The Bus Came Back: Neptune returns in Partners in Time after not showing up after Super RWBY Sunshine.
  • Face Your Fears: Like in the canon series, Neptune has a deep fear of going into the water due to personal reasons that happened in the past. Fortunately as of Isle of Armor, Neptune has learned to conquer his fear and is no longer scared of the water.
  • Oh, Crap!: When he realizes he's surrounded by water in Delfino.
  • Official Couple: He and Weiss have been an official couple ever since Partners in Time.
  • Team Pet: Tank (Squirtle → Wartortle).

     Leonardo Lionheart

Professor Leonardo Lionheart

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/professor_lionheart.png
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Him stopping to help what he thinks is a beggar child ends up getting him captured as said beggar child turns out to be Aria.
  • Regretful Traitor: The fact he sold out to Salem, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Huntsmen and Huntresses, weighs very heavily on him.
  • Resignations Not Accepted: When he tries to leave, Salem sends Aria after him.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Following "Winter's Dusk" and him accidently causing Salem to send a new Grimm breed to the Mushroom Kingdom, Leo tries to run for it and start a new life. Salem, however, has no intentions of letting him go.

The Branwen Tribe

  • As a Whole:
    • Killed Off for Real: The entire tribe gets wiped out by Maleficent and transformed into Heartless.

  • Ascended Extra: Vernal's role compared to canon has slowly increased, which started after her death at the hands of Maleficent.
  • Back from the Dead: Her heart was transformed and became reborn into a Heartless while her body and soul became a Nobody reborn in Twilight Town. The Nobody would later receive the name Maia Branwen.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Her Heartless falls under Maleficent's control and is further corrupted as of Chapter 131 of Super RWBY Gaiden.
  • Passing the Torch: Raven was planning on passing the leadership of the Branwen Tribe to Vernal. Sadly, this was not to be believed due to Maleficent.

Kingdom of Atlas

Atlas Academy & Military

     James Ironwood

General James Ironwood

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/atlas_ironwood.jpg
  • Adaptational Heroism: Notably, this version of Ironwood is more rational and less stubborn than he is in the original series. He was willing to work with Bowser despite what happened in the past. He even gives out advice to Bowser Junior.
  • Boom, Headshot!: He shoots Bowser in the face after he charges at him. However, Bowser shrugs it off.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Despite Esdeath snapping him out of it, Dimentio comes along and brainwashes him to go on a rampage against Futaba and her friends. Thankfully, Esdeath, the Ace Ops, and the others stop him and the brainwashing.
  • Cool Uncle: Nesta's children are rather fond of him as their uncle.
  • Crossover Relatives: Ironwood's ancestor is Gajeel Redfox.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Sadly, compared to an experienced Bowser, Ironwood loses. He's not happy.
  • Facepalm: When he finds out what Ozpin did with Xena.
  • Knight Templar: He nearly falls into this twice due to his beliefs and Semblance. He was thankfully knocked out of this when Esdeath slapped him.
  • Morality Chain: Esdeath helps to snap him out of taking things too far.
  • Overreacting Airport Security: Considering he's part cyborg, the Piantas wouldn't let him on the plane and put him in a cell.
  • Over-the-Shoulder Carry: Likes doing this to his cousin, Nesta, mostly whenever she teases him or needs her for something "important".
  • Papa Wolf: He did show a little bit of this when he learned what Seryu did to Esdeath. Luckily, the latter was able to calm him down before he did something he'd regret.
  • Parental Substitute: He adopts Esdeath and takes care of her when she lost her parents to a Grimm attack during her youth.
  • Power-Up: Ironwood has learned several new techniques thanks to his training with Ryu, Guile, and Chun-Li. He can now perform the Burning Shoryuken and Sonic Hurricane move.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Ironwood proves he is THE Atlas General that, despite being outnumbered, he was able to hold his own against Esdeath, the Winter Ops, Winter, and Joker.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Gajeel's marriage with Levy McGarden and their family's split bloodline also makes him related to Cardin and Laura as his nephew and niece respectively along with their mother, Nesta, as his cousin.
    • It is also later revealed to be the birth father of Mercury Black, the latter who was born from a woman whom Ironwood had a one-night stand with in the past before he found Esdeath and eventually became his mother.
  • Sanity Slippage: His numerous defeats by Bowser caused him to lose his mind a bit and later Winter to his shocked as she can't stand the current him. This was later retconned to him regaining his sanity after a talk from Winter and Esdeath.
  • Team Pet: Cobalt (Duraludon).
  • Vacation Episode: Winter and Esdeath tell Ironwood he should take a vacation after nearly losing his mind, which he accepts after hearing their reasons and needing it, telling Winter to join Esdeath for the time being.

     Winter Schnee

Specialist Winter Schnee

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/beacon_winter.png
  • Curbstomp Battle: Despite Weiss telling her no, she attacked Bowser after he defeated Ironwood. It doesn't end well for her.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Let’s just say she didn’t think about what that exit she took to get out of Yoob was...
  • The Drag-Along: Dante sometimes drags Winter along into his shenanigans, much to her annoyance.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: In IF Chapter 8, this is her response to Sahlia/Blake explaining what their powers are, grabbing Qrow's flask and draining it dry (to his frustration), commenting she needed it after that horror story. She later joins Esdeath for a drink after explaining what Sahlia/Blake did to Jacques, though due to the fact she ordered a scotch, Winter isn't drunk during the raid on the Crimson Fang base.
  • The Squad: She became a member of the Winter Ops after she started working for Esdeath.
  • Summon Magic: Her Semblance allows her to summon enemies she has slain, so far are her summons from canon and Crimson Glow Valstrax.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: She feels this way around Dante.
  • Team Pet: Crystal (Vulpix → Ninetales), Victoria (Lilligant), Pheromosa.
    • Winter has befriended several Monsties of her own as revealed in RWBY: Wings of Ruin. They consist of Sasuke (Kirin), Valka (Velkhana), North (Barioth), Sakura (Mizutsune), and Karin (Shrieking Legiana).
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Whenever Dante does something dorky.
    • A minor one to Ironwood to snap him out of his near-insanity by capturing Roman and Neo. He thanks her for this which she happily accepts.
  • You Do Not Want To Know: When she came out of Yoob, she was less than thrilled.

     Penny Polendina

Penny Polendina / Tech Penny

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/atlas_penny_1.jpg
  • Big Sister Instinct: She is very protective of SAPR, her younger adoptive sister, as shown in Chibi for example.
  • Don't Make Me Destroy You: Penny made it clear she didn't want to fight R3-B7 on two separate occasions, showing how she has grown to care for her.
  • Equipment Upgrade: Dr. Light gave her immunity to water and upgraded her body so the strings on her blades don't crush her body.
    • She gets a second upgrade in the Isle of Armor which consists of her Canon Volume 7 upgrades; GPS, tracker, health scanner, health spray, and the Plasma and Ice Power-ups from the Kirby series.
    • She would gain the ability to cry and taste between the two Galaxy stories.
    • During Dread, she and SAPR would gain the ability to cool down their allies when in extremely hot areas.
    • In Darion, she and SAPR received a laser vision upgrade and revealed they have a water safety protocol to release air bubbles to help their allies breathe underwater.
    • During Super RWBY Galaxy, she was given the ability to cry.
    • Penny revealed that she and SAPR have hidden item protocols installed by Nitori.
    • Before 3D Land, she and SAPR obtained the ability to use hard light shields.
    • During WSSP: Frontiers, Penny obtained the ability to manipulate technology. This upgrade allows Penny to hack into firewalls and disable them.
      • Upon absorbing data of the Ancients' tech from the Wyvern Titan, Penny unlocks a new transformation called Tech Penny. This form allows her to control and activate technology and use it against her foes. Notably, she can deactivate and reactivate the technological weapons used by foes.
    • After Winter's Dusk, Penny was upgraded to a health system that allows her to check on the vitals of her allies.
  • Eye Beams: When equipped with the Laser power-up, she could shoot lasers out of her eyes. Her upgraded form would retain ability without power up.
  • Grand Theft Me: Pride hijacks her entire body and takes full control of it.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Galacta Knight got to her.
  • Recurring Character: Since her first appearance at Super RWBY 64, she has been shown frequently through the series, often participating in adventures.
  • Team Pet: Porygon → Porygon2 → Porygon-Z.
  • Trauma Button: Due to her near-death experience at the hands of Galacta Knight, she goes into a panic whenever that person is mentioned.

     Pietro Polendina

Dr. Pietro Polendina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pietro_6.png
  • Ascended Extra: Compared to canon, he showed up much earlier and has since had an active supporting role in the series.
  • The Cameo: He is first seen in RWBY: Isle of Armor after he and Susie fully repaired Penny.
  • Cool Old Guy: He is a very kind old man willing to help out.
  • Happily Adopted: He is a very good father to Penny, his adopted daughter, SAPR (formerly known as R3-B7), and his foster son, Nagisa Shingetsu.
  • The Mechanic: He is one of the main mechanics in the series that the heroes go to for upgrades.

The Schnee Family

  • As a Whole:
    • Crossover Relatives: In this series, the Schnee family's (barring Jacques) ancestor is Lyon Vastia, renamed Lyon Schnee in this continuity.
    • Rags to Riches: Though they initially lost their wealth, they would later regain their fortune thanks to Team JINX and their friends.
    • Riches to Rags: Their fortune was stolen by the Wario Bros which resulted in the family having a tight budget for a certain period until Wario Land: JINX It!.
    • Starting a New Life: As of Super RWBY Gaiden's first chapter, Willow and Whitley are starting new lives in Toad Town.

     Jacques Schnee

Jacques Schnee (formerly Gelé)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/31fac26e10d1e4c7379ac99863b684a1d7047191_00.jpg
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. While he was a reprehensible person in canon, this version of Jacques is notably even more blatantly cruel, petty, and spiteful than he was in the original series. He straight up believes all Faunus deserve to be enslaved or exterminated, sent the Wario Bros. to kidnap Weiss, personally tortured Seryu, and tried to murder Anthony.
  • Asshole Victim: Seen with just about everything that happens during his time in prison.
  • Butt-Monkey: Absolutely nobody in prison gives him respect and his scenes there usually show things happening at his expense.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Married Willow to become head of the Schnee Dust Company. Under his direction, the company exploited workers and enslaved them, and Jacques himself branded at least two Faunus with the company’s initials.
  • Create Your Own Villain:
    • His actions led to the likes of Adam and Seryu being corrupted and falling off the deep end, resulting in his family being targeted even while he was in jail. Bonus points for the two being given the SDC Brand and him torturing Seryu. In the process, he ended up convincing her that her human friends abandoned her, resulting in her viewing all humans as evil.
    • Exposing the actions of Aria's family resulted in her parents being killed by angry Faunus and her developing a hatred of them, becoming Remnant's most feared grave robber in the process. Plus, she ended up joining Salem and developing an unhealthy obsession with his son.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: In Chapter 35 of Super RWBY IF, Jacques gets assassinated by Maki in many alternate timelines, with his deaths ranging from quick and painless to cartoonishly violent. Though given this is Jacques we're talking about, it's pretty cathartic.
  • Didn't Think This Through: To put it bluntly, his kidnapping of Weiss was not thought through whatsoever. Namely, he didn't consider that her friends in the Mushroom Kingdom would want to come to her rescue...or that Weiss had grown strong enough to escape on her own.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: For all his faults, Jacques does not support grave robbing and finds it disrespectful to the dead. Subverted, he only did this to protect his fake image and was willing to abandon a friend to do so when he was caught doing this.
  • Fantastic Racism: He treats all Faunus like animals with no remorse, loathes them as a species, and has no problem personally branding and enslaving them.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Being revived only to be enslaved by Celestia Ludenberg.
  • Gold Digger: Hardly even loved Willow at all, marrying into the Schnee family to get control of the company. After their divorce, the Schnees (both living and dead) denounce him.
  • Hated by All: Everyone dislikes Jacques and given his Jerkass nature, it's easy to see why.
  • Ironic Hell: After spending all his life treating his servants and workers like trash, Jacques is forced by Death to serve Celeste, who will be no doubt as cruel to him as he was to them.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He is a massive asshole, but he isn't wrong when he points out to Seryu that she is acting exactly like he claims a Faunus would-namely, a feral killing machine.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After all of his heinous actions, Jacques is publicly disgraced, told off by his daughter, arrested, and locked in a cell with the brother of one of his past Faunus workers who died because of his treatment, whom the guards let wail on him. Eventually, he is killed by Seryu in Super RWBY Gaiden chapter 126 in revenge for everything he has done to the Faunus, especially her. Adding to this, Death revives him and forces him to be Celeste's butler.
  • Never My Fault: Jacques refuses to take responsibility for anything he does or has done, even when the consequences affect everyone and have resulted in the creation of several villains.
  • Recurring Character: He has made many appearances throughout the series, usually in prison when members of his family come to visit him about his past actions.

     Willow Schnee

Willow Schnee

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_12_28_at_111549_am.png

  • Alcoholic Parent: She's been this way ever since she realized her relationship with Jacques was a sham. After Weiss got falsely arrested and Jacques was on the warpath, her drinking got worse. As of RWBY: Partners in Time, she has started getting better, however.
  • Hostage Situation:
    • She was held hostage by Dark Weiss, who threatened to kill her should anyone move. Luckily, Esdeath saved her by freezing Dark Weiss.
    • This happens a second time to her when she gets taken captive by the Space Pirates during the invasion of Radiant Garden. She got saved again during Galaxy 2.
  • Mama Bear: She takes part in the Big Damn Heroes moment in Wings of Ruin after having become fed up with Adam tormenting Wiess.
  • Summon Magic: Her Semblance allows her to summon enemies she has slayed, so far are Diablos and Acidic Glavenus.
  • Team Pet: Cryogonal and Lapras.
    • She obtained both a Silver Rathalos and a Gold Rathian, named Argento and Theodora, before heading to Terga to assist her daughter and her friends.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She has become a much better mother since moving to the Mushroom Kingdom.
  • Tranquil Fury: During the Big Damn Heroes moment in Wings of Ruin chapter 19, she speaks calmly, but it's very clear she's beyond ticked at Adam for what he did to Wiess.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: He is so far seen to be a lot nicer than in the canon. Notably, he was seen happy to live with his mom and sisters in the Mushroom Kingdom at the end of Partners in Time.
  • Adaptational Badass: He unlocked his Semblance and started combat training, in contrast to his canon self.
  • Big "NO!": He said this right when Ling, Winter, and Willow were about to be hit by Regidrago's Dragon Energy Attack.
  • Catchphrase: He chants out "Let's get this party started!" usually before a Sea5ons performance.
  • Childhood Friends: With Aria. Unfortunately for him, she's an Ax-Crazy and racist Yandere who has an obsessive crush on him and is perfectly willing to kill any girl who's close to him, primarily his current girlfriend, Ling.
  • Dual Wielding: He obtains two icy blue daggers with a Dust compartment named "Boreas" and "Chione" as a gift from Ling.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Whitley's neatly combed hair becomes messy and unkempt after he gains a new outfit, Ling, much to Jacques' ire. He later dyes a single streak of his front bangs blue prior to the first chapter of Galaxy 2.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: He wears a pair of silver goggles with blue-tinted lenses above his forehead mostly for fashion.
  • I Am Not My Father: As seen in Gaiden, he makes it clear he will never be like his father and moves on from him.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's a human boy who's currently dating Ling, a deer Faunus girl.
  • The Leader: He's the leader and founder of a hip-hop and street dance crew called "Sea5ons".
  • Official Couple: He and Ling become one as of RWBY: The Crown Tundra.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: Whitley goes from wearing formal, high-class, and business-like clothing to modern casual street-style fashion, the latter of which was a new outfit given to him by his girlfriend, Ling.
  • Summon Magic: Thanks to his Semblance, he can summon any creature he has slain in the past, such as the Black Diablos and White Monoblos.
  • Taking the Bullet: He takes one to protect Ling from Seryu. Luckily, it was only his shoulder that took the brunt.
  • Team Pet:
    • Sleet (Alolan Sandshrew → Sandslash), Nina (Audino), Galarian Darmanitan, Aria (Swablu), Drilbur, Shiny Spheal.
    • He later captured a Stantler, which later evolved into Wyrdeer, as a gift for his girlfriend Ling.
    • He obtained both a Goss Harag and an Aurora Somnacanth, named Sanada and Musashi respectively, before heading to Terga to assist his sister and her friends.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Starting from Partners in Time, he slowly starts to become a better person. He has grown to the point he has grown out of his father's shadows and is supportive of his family. He also develops a friendship and later romantic relationship with a Faunus and helps form a band.

  • Hostage Situation: Klein gets captured by Space Pirates during the invasion of Radiant Garden.
  • The Medic: He knows medical skills which he uses to help take care of Weiss after her near-death experience at the hands of Seryu and Adam. Whitley mentions he is studying to be a doctor.
  • My Greatest Failure: In Partners in Time, Klein shows regret for not preventing Jacques, who was his friend in the past, from becoming the cruel and selfish man he is today, as well as the negative impact his inaction had on the Schnee family.
  • Shout-Out: Both his Monsties are named after two particular heavy-built dragons from the How to Train Your Dragon series.
  • Team Pet: Alfred (Mime Jr.).
    • He obtained both a Dodogama and a Uragaan, named Meatlug and Grump respectively, before heading to Terga to assist Weiss and her friends.
  • Undying Loyalty: He remained loyal to the Schnee Family and went with them to the Mushroom Kingdom.
  • We Used to Be Friends: He and Jacques were very close and Klein regrets preventing him from becoming the monster he is in the present.

     Ghira Belladonna

Ghira Belladonna

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ghira_belladonna.png
  • The Big Guy: Is very muscular, and while he prefers to settle things with diplomacy he is willing to resort to violence as a last resort. Best seen when he managed to terrify the crap out of some Shroobs and later got into a brawl with a Lynel while exploring Hyrule.
  • Gentle Giant: While a competent fighter, he is also willing to negotiate, as seen with Mrs. Thwomp. He also shows himself to be an understanding father (though not to his daughter’s boyfriend).
  • Heroes Fight Barehanded: Ghira can fight well this way, proving to be a deadly opponent to face.
  • The Leader: He is both the Chieftain of Menagerie and of a Lynel Pack after he ended up defeating their leader.
  • Power-Up: He would receive a Bazel α armor set and a Bazel Raider Switch Axe as a gift from Palutena.

  • Crossover Relatives: She is the descendant of Millianna here in this series.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: She's easily beaten by the King of Cool Bowser in one move.
  • My Greatest Failure: As noted by Blake, Sienna was bothered by how her actions turned Adam into a monster.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In canon, she is killed by Adam in a coup after being usurped of her position, in the series she not only lives but excommunicates Adam before he can kill her.
  • Team Pet: During RWBY: Wings of Ruin, Sienna obtained a Tetsucabra. She later named it Tetsu.

  • Best Friend: Considers Blake this, and while unable to get a relationship as she wants, Blake decides to help her out.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Not only did Ilia underestimate Snake, but she also got the biggest ass-whooping from Snake.
  • Flipping the Bird: During the interrogation, she flipped off Solid Snake.
  • Official Couple: She and Mercedes become a couple at the end of Isle of Armor.
  • Oh, Crap!: Reacts like this when she sees just how good-looking Mercedes is.
  • Power-Up: She gets the Magenta Wisp and its rhythm-like abilities.
    • She also learns to use magic thanks to Annette as seen with her Thunder Tome. She gains the ability to sense energy thanks to becoming a Unique Faunus Mage class.

The Crimson Fang

  • As a Whole:
    • Renegade Splinter Faction: It was formed by a rogue Adam Taurus after being kicked out of the White Fang by Sienna.
    • Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil: The organization has enslaved several Dragon Quest Monsters throughout the series, and brutally tortures them into servitude along with branding them.
    • The Squad: The group's troops consist of Masqueraider, Dread Dragooner, Honeyhead Horknight, Hyperpyrexion, Lava Lampling, Whackolyte, and Barbatos. Adam serves as a leader with Seryu as second-in-command before her defection. The Albain Brothers were a part of the faction until their abduction and murder by Salem's group.
    • Villain Team-Up: The Crimson Fang forms an alliance with Dry Bowser's faction thanks to Dimentio.

     Adam Taurus

Crimson Horn / Adam Taurus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/adam_taurus_v2.png
  • A Fate Worse Than Death: You'd think that his own Glavenus cutting him in half would be the end of him, but at the same time, Mine shot him with the Trophy Gun, leaving him cut in half in trophy form forever.
  • Arch-Enemy:
    • While he is still this to Blake, he also serves as one to Weiss given what the SDC company has done to him.
    • Azure also counts due to the Flying Wyvern cutting off his arm.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Gets his arm ripped off by Azure, leaving only his elbow intact.
  • Artificial Limbs: He would later replace his lost arm with a Moosifer's arm surgically attached to him.
  • Big Bad: He's the main villain for RWBY: Wings of Ruin.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Does this when Azure manages to escape on his own near the end of Chapter 18 of Wings Of Ruin.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Adam has been on the receiving end twice.
    • Master Hand easily defeats him, destroys his weapon, and then proceeds to throw him across the Mushroom Kingdom.
    • Aqua also easily defeats him, even when he's backed up by his Glavenus.
  • Dramatic Unmask: He takes off his mask to reveal his Branded eye to Weiss to show why he is after her and make her lose focus, which succeeds during the first time they fought.
  • Evil Sorcerer: He has learned magic from the enslaved Dragon Quest Monsters which he puts to great use.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: For all of his evil deeds, sexual assault is the one line Adam is not willing to cross.
  • Feel No Pain: He handled the loss of his arm remarkably well, telling Blake that pain is an old friend.
  • Hero Killer: He killed three Monsties owned by both Weiss and Kora through his Glavenus.
  • I Reject Your Reality: Adam is known to make some impressive leaps in logic to justify his crusade being noble, with him outright claiming in Winter's Dusk that the peace treaty that Peach and Sienna signed was something that the former "forced" and doesn't count as actual peace since it's not Faunus ruling over humans.
  • Killed Off for Real: While spewing out more of his delusions about how he'll make everyone suffer, he doesn't notice his Glavenus running up behind him and cutting him in half, alongside Mine turning him into a trophy, bringing an end to the amount of pain and suffering his caused the others.
  • Poisoned Weapons: His Crimson Claw can unleash different types of poison to harm his enemies.
    • One of his neurotoxin poisons can be used similar to an epileptic seizure. The more Adam uses on a foe, the more said victim loses control of the body. Some of its side effects are slack-jawed, mindless, and unable to speak.
    • One poison acts similarly to hypothermia. It can remove body heat and make the victim sluggish.
    • Adam can use another poison that tricks the user's mind into thinking every bone in their body has broken simultaneously.
    • Finally, Adam can use a paralysis poison to have a victim be unable to move for a short period.
  • Power-Up: He received the Crimson Claw weapon after a member of the Crimson Fang forged it from the remains of his sword. It can unleash fatal heavy gashes along with poison while slowly killing the opponent. The claw can also either paralyze and give a nasty burn for a slow, painful death.
    • He would later perfect different types of poison to be unleashed from his claw by the events of RWBY: Wings of Ruin.
    • He regains and repairs Wilt and Blush at some point before RWBY: Winter's Dusk.
  • Team Pet: Adam obtains a Glavenus after capturing it to have something to counter Azure.
  • Tempting Fate: In Chapter 19 of Wings of Ruin, when Willow arrives, he says "Well, if it isn't the mother. You came right into the slaughter!" only for her to say that she begs to differ and then Whitley, Kirumi and Klein arrive and Adam still says "The whole family is here… you made it too easy!", only for the group's monsters to pummel him and send him into retreat.
  • The Enemy Weapons Are Better: He tries to use Aqua's Keyblade against her. The keyword is tries.
  • There's No Kill like Overkill: His death begins with the heroes beating him to near death after he turns himself into a monster, followed by his own Glavenus slicing him in half, then Sheele turns him into a trophy, followed by Hades dragging him into the underworld.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Adam makes it clear he is willing to cross that line.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Master Hand shattered his sword.

Salem’s Faction

  • As a Whole:
    • Breaking the Fellowship: Cinder's entire faction is done. Mercury has had enough of Cinder and left to parts unknown, Emerald leaves with Esdeath, Roman, and Neo straight-up hate her and have traded her in for Bowser, and on top of that, Salem wants nothing to do with her anymore, leaving Cinder by herself. Eventually, both Hazel and Watts leave Salem as well.

     Salem

Salem

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/salem_v7.png
  • Big Bad: The Queen of the Grimm and one of the main antagonists of the series. Despite this, she has yet to do anything storywise at this time.
  • Berserk Button: Dimentio successfully pushes Paper Salem's buttons to the point she wants to murder him.
    • When he meets Main Universe Salem, he does this again by mentioning Ozma.
  • Death Glare: Has one, when a majority of her Grimm abandon her. With her unaware that it was Calasmos doing, currently.
  • Hated by All: Downplayed. While she does have her loyal subjects, many heroes and villains alike despise Salem for starting a war spanning over a millennia over what is basically a glorified divorce settlement with Ozpin.
  • Immortality: She cannot die due to being caused by the Brothers Gods, Dry Bowser discovers this when he fights her.
  • Never My Fault: Paper Salem, and her main counterpart, refuses to accept her faults, leading to her current predicament, something pointed out by her by both Ozpin and Dimentio. Not that she cares.
  • Properly Paranoid: After seeing how powerful the people of Gensokyo are and crossing the planet off of her "Worlds to Conquer" list, she also takes Pop Star off the list just to be sure. Considering how powerful Kirby is, it was a smart move.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: She receives one from Dimento on her actions and relationship with Ozpin.
  • Villain Respect: Dry Bowser earned her respect after the two fought against each other.

Salem’s Inner Circle

     Arthur Watts

Dr. Arthur Watts

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/watts_thumb_9.png
  • Adaptational Heroism: Watts isn't outright heroic, but after realizing Salem doesn't give a damn about the world being destroyed, he leaves her side and gives vital information to the heroes about Eggmans plans for Remnant.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Watts might be a villain, but even he doesn't desire the absolute deaths of millions alongside a ruined world.
  • Heel–Face Turn: As of "Winter's Dusk", he bails on Salem's plans due to them getting too intense for him, revealing to Kyoko what her plans are.
  • Honorary Uncle: He used to watch over Esdeath when she was younger who called him uncle. He immediately latches onto that and proclaims himself this even though he hasn't seen her for years and faked being dead.
  • Not What I Signed Up For: Why he leaves Salem's inner circle. While he still wants revenge on Ironwood, what Salem is planning goes well beyond what he thinks is worth it.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Downplayed for Watts. While he's not outright hated or disliked, as Esdeath appreciates him, Ironwood, Sora, and a few others make it clear they don't exactly view him in a good light, even if he has switched sides.
  • Unknown Rival: Tried to prevent Futaba from hacking into Remnant's network, though she had no idea who he was beyond a stylized image and his last initial. Likewise, she didn't realize his importance; she only learned about Salem after getting past his firewall.

     Tyrian Callows

  • Arch-Enemy: He personally serves as one for the Nightraid sisters and Yor Neves due to wiping out the Mikazuchi clan, which forced them to go into hiding and undergo a name change as a form of protection against him.
  • Ax-Crazy: Very much so.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: His fight with Edelgard ends with the latter using the Sword of Destruction to cut off his legs.
  • One-Man Army: He personally took on a group of 200 Mikazuchi clan members and wiped them all on his own, except for three survivors.
    • Subverted. It turns out that he had help from the inside in the form of a Maki Harukawa, who at that time was working for Watts as his mole while being undercover in the Mikazuchi clan.

     Hazel Rainart

Hazel Rainart

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hazel_rainart_3.png
  • Cool Uncle: He's like this towards his nieces, Mine and Kotoko, ever since he found out that he's related to them.
  • Crossover Relatives: He is the descendant of this universe’s version of Elfman and Evergreen. Mine and Kotoko are also related to Hazel through the Strauss family line.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Bails on Salem once he realizes things are going too far.
  • The Hermit: He originally lived alone after leaving Salem's Circle until Laxus recruited him.
  • Team Pet: Rocky (Primeape).

Cinder’s Faction

  • As a Whole:
    • Heel–Face Turn: All three members of the faction have been reformed since Super RWBY 3D Land, with Cinder joining the Koopa Troop both as a high-ranking member and a co-head chef of the kitchen staff of Bowser's Castle, Emerald joining forces with Esdeath as a new member of the Winter Ops, and Mercury joining Laxus Dreyar as a new member of his modern-day Thunder Tribe.

     Cinder Fall

Cinder Fall

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cinder_mugshot.png
  • Abled in the Adaptation: Due to the events that cause it to happen never happening, as well as her pulling a Heel–Face Turn, Cinder never loses one of her eyes.
  • Big Bad: It was Cinder who started the events of the fanfic series, having been the one who introduced Bowser to the Creatures of Grimm as well as giving him the idea to use them and assisting Bowser in kidnapping the Mario Bros. and Princess Peach, holding said Princess hostage to make the Mario Bros. surrender. The author tries to hide her identity throughout the story until her reveal at the end but it is very obvious that it is her. She is no longer this after being exposed by Eggman.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Cinder makes the fatal mistake of provoking Bowser in a Gaiden chapter, which resulted in her powers being sealed by a choker much to her horror.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: One of Cinder's Fatal Flaws.
    • In "Galaxy", Cinder doesn't understand why Peach tends to her wounds despite them being enemies. Additionally, she doesn't understand why Bowser doesn't want to hurt her.
    • In "Chibi", Cinder asks Roman why he and Neo have become more loyal to Bowser considering he's a failure of a villain. The idea that they don't care he tends to lose because he's a Benevolent Boss who treats them with respect instead of as pawns goes over her head.
  • Evil Gloating: Cinder loves to do this a lot.
  • Happily Adopted: She becomes a member of Bowsette and Rei's family in gratitude for their kindness.
  • Heel–Face Turn: A combination of Good Feels Good, Bowsette being kind to her, and finding a new calling as a head chef in the kitchen staff of Bowser's Castle ultimately leads Cinder to side with the heroes.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After causing problems and all her planning it gets all done by Eggman. She not only loses her two minions, but she also gets defeated by Ruby and forced to hide in Bowser's Castle with every resident there hating her except Bowsette.
  • Mundane Utility: Ever since she became a member of the kitchen staff at Bowser's Castle, she tends to use her Fall Maiden powers to help her cook a good dish.
  • Odd Friendship: She seems to have struck this kind of friendship with Edward Leboneski, a Dry Bones who works as a chef of the kitchen staff of Bowser's Castle and a footsoldier of the Koopa Troop.
  • Put on a Bus: Despite being the Big Bad she has not made an appearance since the very first story of the series, Super RWBY Sisters. Subverted when she makes her grand return at the end of the Isle of Armor, fifteen stories later, and what does she do? Fight Rosalina.
  • Supreme Chef: Cinder was shown to have really good cooking skills, enough to impress even Bowser himself, though he would not admit that easily. Even those in the Monster Community and the Mushroom Kingdom enjoy her cooking. Thanks to Bowsette, she now cooks for the King of Koopas.
  • Team Pet: She befriends a one-eyed Shiny Charizard after some difficulties. It would later become her partner and named Acnologia after one of the four Champions of Grimm.
  • Trauma Button: Having no power to access will cause Cinder to panic.

     Emerald Sustrai

Emerald Sustrai (later Ironwood)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emerald_v8.png
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Why she agrees to join Esdeath after Cinder ditches her. Esdeath was nice to her despite them being on different sides at the time and Emerald wants to repay her.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Emerald does not understand why Esdeath is being nice to her despite her secretly working against the Kingdom of Atlas. This gets elaborated on further in the Burning of Rome where Emerald is shocked that Esdeath is willing to reach out to her after Eggman exposed her and her former allies.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Following her abandonment of Cinder, Emerald joins up with the Winter Ops.
  • Happily Adopted: As of RWBY: Winter's Dusk, Esdeath has adopted Emerald as her daughter.
  • Master of Illusion: Her Semblance.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: Upon joining the Winter Ops, it takes several of them a long time to warm up to her, even if she is sincere about it. Luckily for her, she seemed to have worked hard enough over time to become a well-respected member of the group.

     Mercury Black

Mercury Black

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/52bcbda6_fe21_460b_b4c1_42bdf0b407c3.png
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Dimentio brainwashes him in the 4th chapter of Super RWBY 3D Land to make him fight the heroes.
  • Cool Big Bro: Although they may be cousins, he's been acting as nothing but a kind and caring older brother figure towards Laura, as shown when they've bonded together over lunch as a family during the 7th chapter of JINXY and the Forgotten Land.
  • Cyborg: By the 7th Grimm World, every remaining organic part in his body became fully cybernetic, save for his face, due to Dimentio and Ghirahim removing several parts of his body every time he lost to the latter.
  • From Bad to Worse: As revealed in Gaiden, shortly after leaving Cinder, he is forced to join a group led by Dry Bowser.
  • I Cannot Self-Terminate: He begs Cinder and Emerald to end him due to wanting to be free from Dry Bowser’s faction as he cannot do it.
  • Oh, Crap!: His reaction when he realizes that he's basically been gang pressed into helping Dry Bowser.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He is Ironwood’s illegitimate son he had from a one-night stand he had with a woman that soon became his mother. Suffice to say he did not take it well.
    • Given how Ironwood is related to the Winchester family through the split bloodline of Levy and Gajeel's family, this also makes him and Cardin cousins. Not to mention that this also makes him Gajeel's descendant as well.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: This is essentially his reaction when Cinder's plans get exposed and he reveals to Emerald that Cinder never cared for them.
  • Stopped Caring: When he meets up with the heroes again in Super RWBY 3D Land, he outright tells them to just beat him up since he's terrified of his new boss and wants nothing to do with him.
  • Unwilling Roboticization: The victim as throughout Super RWBY 3D Land, Dimentio and Ghirahim remove more and more of his human parts until there is almost nothing left.
