Danganronpa

  • As a Whole:
    • Adaptational Badass: Several of the characters count as this as they have been shown taking on powerful foes like Fawful, Ridley, etc.

Class 78 & Future Foundation - 14th Branch

     Makoto Naegi

Makoto Naegi

Ultimate Lucky Student / Ultimate Hope

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naegi_future.png
  • Idiot Hair: Has an ahoge as part of his main feature.
  • Last Episode, New Character: He does not make a proper appearance until the final chapter of Bowser's Inside Story.
  • The Leader: He's the current head of the Future Foundation after Kazuo Tengan (who died in the final Killing Game) and Kyosuke Munakata (who left the Future Foundation and went on a Self-Imposed Exile after the events of the anime) were out of the picture.
  • Pet the Dog: On two occasions:
    • Due to their heroic actions in past stories, Makoto decides that the members of Class 77-B have finished atoning for what they did as the Remnants of Despair and are free to leave Jabberwock Island.
    • He and Kyoko also do the same thing with the Warriors of Hope by placing them under rehabilitation via therapy with Bereto and placement in foster care with new loving families.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Towards Kyoko before they eventually confirmed they were dating.

     Kyoko Kirigiri

Kyoko Kirigiri

Ultimate Detective

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kirigiri_future.png
  • Born Detective: It's in her lineage and her title after all. Her specialty is homicide, having started at the age of thirteen.
  • Deadpan Snarker: As seen in her first appearance after turning the tables on a mugger...
Kyoko: Consider a career change, sir. Clearly, you're not good at this one.
  • Did We Just Have Tea with Cthulhu?: Due to her many close scares, she and Death are actually friendly with each other, to the point where he admits he looks forward to seeing her again. This later extends to other reaper figures, such as Morpho Knight and the Reaper.
  • Did Not See That Coming: Kyoko easily enters the Death Egg, finds a Chaos Emerald, and proceeds to nab it in the belief she got one over Eggman... unfortunately, Eggman easily anticipated this and trapped her. Then proceeds to send her to her seeming death in an explosion.
  • The Gadfly: She's not above teasing Bowser from time to time, such as when they met Kuzzle and suggested puzzles would be good for him. Starlow isn't immune from this either.
  • Hand Cannon: Is seen wielding a Megaphone Hacking Gun as her primary weapon.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: Towards Makoto. Everyone Can See It.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Aoi
  • Oh, Crap!: Kyoko has this moment when she underestimates Bowser's strength to pull an entire island toward the mainland.
    • Has another moment like this when Bowser both falls into the trap Fawful set for them with the buffet, and when Bowser sets off a large storage of Bob-ombs as it's about to blow.
  • Odd Friendship: Seems to be forming one of these with Bowser of all people, after seeing that he's not a complete villain at heart.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: She, along with Aoi, proceed to beat the living crap out of Trolls and Boss Trolls while barely having a scratch on both of them.
  • Not So Above It All: She enjoys watching Junko take a beating while playing Mario Party as much as Aoi does, even offering the latter popcorn.
  • Not So Stoic: Begins cheering once she learns that Taka and Hifumi have been found, finally completing Class 78 once again.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: She says this to the Elite Trio right before she sets Bowser free and the latter clobbers them.
Kyoko: You feared us... but what you should fear is the one who you have betrayed.
    • She gives out another one to Heartless Bowser in the last chapter of Inside Story, after he proclaims he'll kill her first when it's just her and Bowser standing.
Kyoko: I've looked Death in the eyes on numerous occasions. And every time, I've survived that encounter. Put simply, I won't die easily.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Clearly the Blue to Aoi's Red, both in a metaphorical and almost literal sense. Can also be seen as the Blue to Bowser's Red during Inside Story.
  • Walking Tech Bane: Her Megaphone Hacking Gun is very effective against machinery and other gadgets, as shown when she shot Fawful's ray gun.

     Aoi Asahina

Aoi Asahina

Ultimate Swimming Pro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/asahina_future.png
  • Action Girl: Easily the more physical one between her and Kyoko.
  • Badass Normal: Out of all the Ultimates that have appeared in the stories so far, Aoi's abilities primarily revolve around her physical prowess, which is more than enough to keep up with the others.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Bowser and co. goes into Bowser's vault, everyone is amazed at how rich Bowser is. Aoi, meanwhile, goes straight to thinking of how many doughnuts you can buy.
  • Clothing Damage: As a result of getting in front of Kyoko to protect her from the massive Bob-omb explosion, Aoi changes into a tank top and short shorts for the rest of the journey.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Kyoko and Sakura.
  • Making a Splash: In her attempt at copying Terry's fighting style, Aoi ends up learning how to control water.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: She, along with her partner, proceed to beat the living crap out of Trolls and Boss Trolls with barely even having a scratch.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Swimming isn't the only sport she's participated in, having participated in a total of six different sports clubs, and clearly shows her physical prowess.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: When she and Kyoko are ambushed, Aoi takes it in stride.
Aoi: Aw, Kiri... let's put it this way. We're not in a room surrounded by monsters. These monsters are in a room with us.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Clearly the Red to Kyoko's Blue, both in a metaphorical and almost literal sense.
  • Taking the Bullet: More like taking a massive Bob-omb blast for Kyoko at the end of Chapter 7 of Inside Story.
  • Tears of Joy: When she finally reunites with Sakura.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Doughnuts, just like always. This is what clues Kyoko in that they've walked into a trap set by Fawful after she's already stuffed from half a normal-sized doughnut.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/byakuya_togami_7.jpg

     Sayaka Maizono

  • Locked Out of the Loop: She's the only member of the class not to know Chihiro is a boy.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Although she may have somewhat forgiven Leon for killing her back at the Killing Game at Hope's Peak Academy, both of them are currently rather awkward around each other as they haven't moved on from that past horrid experience yet.
  • Regretful Traitor: She feels remorse for betraying Makoto, but isn’t willing to talk to him about it even while knowing he would forgive her.

     Leon Kuwata

Leon Kuwata

Ultimate Baseball Star

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuwata_art.png
  • Back from the Dead: The Universe Reset brought him and his other fellow deceased Class 78 classmates back to life.

  • Back from the Dead: Using Alter Ego and a robotic body, Makoto and Aoi manage to bring him back to life.
  • Easily Forgiven: He's pretty forgiving of Mondo for killing him. Helps that Mondo was extremely regretful and that his death was an accident.
  • Power-Up: He gets the Splash-o-Matic from Sheldon at Ammo Knights after he and the others arrive at Splatsville in the 2nd chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians.
  • The Smart Guy: He's not the "Ultimate Programmer" for nothing. He’s been trying to help Futaba fix Remnant’s network after Eggman hi-jacked it.

     Mondo Owada

Mondo Owada

     Celestia Ludenberg

Celestia "Celeste" Ludenberg / Taeko Yasuhiro

Ultimate Gambler

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/celeste_art.png

  • Back from the Dead: The Universe Reset brought her and her other deceased Class 78 classmates back to life.
  • Badass Normal: Manages to get through Dracula's castle unharmed without any powers.
  • Bad Boss: She treats her servants cruelly. If it were anyone other than Jacques Schnee, she'd be considered a lot worse.
  • Didn't Think This Through: She attempts to kill Chiaki...with Hajime standing less than five feet away from them. Cue Hajime going to Izuru and laying her out in about five seconds.
  • Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: Manages to trick Dracula into making her a vampire, giving her what she's always wanted.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: It doesn't take much to piss her off.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite being completely unrepentant about what she did in the Killing Game, Celeste got everything she ever wanted.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: She finds Dracula's castle and all the monsters within to be completely awesome.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: To Dracula and Death, and she has no intention of leaving either.
  • Token Evil Teammate: With Junko undergoing Heel–Face Brainwashing, she has become the cruelest member of Class 78, right down to being the only person with no regrets as to what she did during the Killing Game.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: How she reacts to learning that Death not only didn't claim Kyoko's soul as she ordered but also got her flowers and is getting ready to play a game of cards with her.

     Kiyotaka Ishimaru

Kiyotaka Ishimaru

Class 77-B

     Hajime Hinata

Hajime Hinata / Izuru Kamukura

Ultimate ??? / Ultimate Hope

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hajime_hinata.png
Click here to see his alter ego, Izuru Kamukura.
  • Idiot Hair: Like his fellow Danganronpa protagonists, he has an ahoge as part of his main feature.
  • Non-Action Guy: He admits that he's more of a support guy, which is why he relies on Izuru Kamukura to do most of the fighting in his stead.
  • Official Couple: Once he discovers that Chiaki is alive, he wastes no time asking her out. She accepts.
  • Super Mode: Izuru Kamukura now serves as a powerful alter ego that he can call on if things get hairy.

     Ibuki Mioda

Ibuki Mioda

Ultimate Musician

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ibuki_mioda.png
  • Ascended Extra: She has since joined Nan in the Author's Notes, taking the fourth wall breaking to an entirely new level.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: As the author likes to provide background music for his stories, Ibuki says this line when the Shroobs invade Jabberwock Island.
Ibuki: Let's see how they like Ibuki providing the background music!
    • Later during Galactic Conquest Prime, chapter 4, when a Luma asks where she came from and says "Nope! Don't need to hear that!", she says that she came from Spike Chunsoft.
    • It's also shown she's reading MAJC: The Great Cave Offensive on her phone at the same time the readers are as shown when she makes two cameos during said story demanding to know how the Squeaks taking the Beast Fossil while leaving the Fish Fossil for Team MAJC is 50/50 due to the Beast Fossil having more value and when Doc brings one of the Hydra parts to Daroach and he does the 50/50 line again. This notably confuses Weiss and in Galactic Conquest Prime, Ibuki shows Weiss her phone to see what she is yelling about. She also gets surprised when Galacta Knight shows up to save Team JINXY.
  • Cloudcuckoolander
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Completely flattens Digga-Leg even after the Daredevil Comet shows up in orbit.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: She got into a fight with the freaking Icon Of Sin and LIVED.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She appeared along with several other classmates of hers fending off a Shroob invasion during the events of Partners in Time.
  • Equipment Upgrade: She upgraded her guitar to produce actual electricity. The kicker? She upgraded it from Doom Guy's weapon upgrades.
  • Fire-Breathing Weapon: Chapter 199 of Chibi shows her guitar shooting fire... for some reason. She uses it to set the author's friend on fire after the latter spooks her and the author.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Allows herself to be stabbed and impaled repeatedly to save Chiaki, and is killed as a result. Thankfully, she was revived shortly, therefore.
  • I Will Find You: Was sent on a quest by Gundam to go find Sonia, who went missing, and is determined to find her. As of Chapter 13 in Bowser's Inside Story, she has succeeded in this.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: She was on the receiving end of Ridley's razor-sharp tail. However, despite being heavily wounded by this, she laughs it off and proceeds to verbally flip him off by telling him that Doom Guy hits harder than HIM.
    • She would later endure this again in 3D Land, while saving Chiaki from her booby-trapped cell. She shrugs it off, even as it takes a serious toll on her and eventually kills her.
  • Medium Awareness / No Fourth Wall: The Fourth Wall doesn't exist for Ibuki. She hangs out with Nan in the Author's Notes as of Chibi Chapter 184, whereas she talks directly to Nan and the readers during the stories directly references previous stories, and reads MAJC: The Great Cave Offensive on her phone during downtime during Galactic Conquest Prime. She also joins Nan in the author's notes for "Sora's Adventure in Rogueport Remake" starting with Chapter 25.
  • Phrase Catcher: "It's Ibuki. Don't question it", which is generally said whenever she does something weird or breaks the fourth wall.
  • Power-Up: In Galactic Conquest Prime:
    • She uses a Spin Drill to turn herself into a humanoid Excadrill and is not only able to dig through the ground but also use Drill Run, Drill Rush and after growing to a massive size via Mega Mushroom, Horn Drill while calling "GIGA DRILL BREAKEEEER"!.
    • In Fluffy Bluff Galaxy, she uses a Cloud Flower to turn herself into Shantae.
    • In Hightail Falls Galaxy, she uses a Dash Pepper to turn herself into a humanoid Arcanine.
    • In Haunty Halls Galaxy, she uses a Bulb Berry to turn herself into a humanoid Lanturn.
  • Super-Senses: Hearing, in her case, befitting of the Ultimate Musician. Even in the middle of a fight, Ibuki can pick up on far-away sounds to give herself an edge. More faint noises require silence around her to focus.
    • She shows this off when she hears quiet sobbing coming from Rosalina.
  • Third-Person Person: Ibuki refers to herself in the third person. The Toad Brigade finds this a bit weird.
  • Those Two Guys: Hangs around with Deadpool after the events of Forbidden Land due to being fellow Fourth Wall breakers, particularly in the author's notes.

     Chiaki Nanami

Chiaki Nanami

Ultimate Gamer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chiaki_nanami.png
  • Ascended Fangirl: As she happily discovers, she now has a chance to fight alongside her favorite video game characters.
  • Back from the Dead: Twofold. She is revived by the universe reset and then gets further revived after managing to escape the underworld.
  • Brought Down to Badass: When Dimentio got rid of her gaming powers, Chiaki was still able to hold her own against Dimentio. Until Dimentio triggered her PTSD...
  • Catchphrase: "Game on!"
  • Cool Ship: Built a Galaga-themed X-wing Starfighter during the Phazon War.
  • De Powered: In ATMC: Skyward Sword Chapter 9, she gets hit with this when Dimentio uses his new ability to shut down her abilities, making her a normal girl. Luckily, it had a limited time as the Oathkeeper reappeared in her hand. Unluckily, she was put in the ER thanks to Dimentio.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: How she's introduced in Wings of Ruin following a meet-up with Twilight Chiaki, resulting in her getting extremely hung over.
  • Dumb Struck: In an alternate timeline, her falling into despair messed her up so much that she stopped talking altogether, though uses a device to communicate with her friends.
  • Embarrassing Tattoo: Subverted. After getting drunk on sake, Chiaki discovers that she has a tattoo on her back. She's worried it's embarrassing, but she quite likes the result once she sees what it is (a G-Max Butterfree going across her back).
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Due to having died years ago, she’s been spending a lot of time trying to catch up on modern video game culture.
  • Flat "What": She utters this when she realizes that Hestu's reward for collecting all 900 Korok Seeds was just a massive joke.
  • Gamer Girl: Her talent.
  • Genre Savvy: Being the "Ultimate Gamer", this is to be expected. Upon arriving in the Mushroom Kingdom shortly after her revival, she recognized the Phazon and managed to almost immediately deduce what was going on.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Refuses to swear even while being brutally tortured, other than telling her captor to go to hell.
  • Imagine Spot: Her imagination kicks into overdrive whenever Kirby gets one of his copy abilities upgraded, such as burning Popstar to the ground with Volcano Fire, or blowing up Popstar when she thinks Crash turns into a Hydrogen Bomb.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Chiaki is unfortunately on the receiving end of Junko's sword impaling her through her gut. Luckily, she gets better.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Played for Laughs. Chiaki instantly regrets giving Haru all the Demoman grenade launchers, considering how unusually cheerful she was when she took them all.
Chiaki: Why do I feel like I created a monster?
  • Official Couple: Once they reunite, Hajime asks Chiaki out and it's hinted they've hit the fourth base.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: To say that Chiaki doesn't have a high opinion of her Twilight counterpart would be a HUGE understatement. After seeing how far Twilight Chiaki has fallen, Chiaki quickly grows to despise her alternate self. To the point that, during a drunken rant while on a date with Hajime, she calls Twilight Chiaki an embarrassment to every Chiaki in the infinite multiverse.
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: Her knowledge of video games comes to her advantage when using the Gamer Fighter Style still.
  • Power-Up: Chiaki obtains Dimentio’s Chaos Magic after defeating him in Mario Party.
  • Precision F-Strike: Two instances during her fight with her Twilight counterpart were enough to make her swear.
Twilight Chiaki: Don't you EVER call me a villain, you understand me? I. Am. A. Hero.
Chiaki: If you're a hero... you're doing a shitty job.
    *later*
    Chiaki: You know what, Chiaki?
    Twilight Chiaki: What's that?
    Chiaki: ... You're a fucking bitch.
  • Sleep Cute: After exhausting herself in fighting Phantoon, Chiaki falls asleep on Mikan's lap.
  • Squee:
    • Her reaction is when she realizes that several of her favorite video game characters are real.
    • Also her reaction to Ibuki giving her a Super Smash Bros. invite.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: When she learns that she and Luigi are trapped in the Grimm World made by Grimm Ruby, she realizes there's no way out and decides to call for backup while proceeding to give everything she's got against Grimm Ruby.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Perhaps one of the most notable cases out of her series. Chiaki not only is skilled at video games, but she uses this knowledge to her advantage in combat and can summon items from various games.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's hard to talk about Chiaki without bringing up several other spoilers from the series, such as the Universe Reset and the Phazon War.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Due to how she died in canon, Chiaki is afraid of mazes.

     Hiyoko Saionji

Hiyoko Saionji

Ultimate Traditional Dancer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hiyoko_saionji.png
  • Bystander Syndrome: Defied. She did not want to fall into this is why, despite being traumatized from her first adventure, Hiyoko heads back into space to help fight Dark Samus and Ridley.
  • Combat Hand Fan: While heading to the Isle of Armor, she shows off some Tessans to Byleth. She mentions that she's gonna be using these on Dark Ruby. They can even function as a straight-up Attack Reflector.
  • Dance Battler: Shown to have incorporated her title of "Ultimate Traditional Dancer" into her fighting style, first shown off against Ruby in the first chapter of Super RWBY Galaxy.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Has her moments of being a smartass, such as commenting on Byleth's chest size, and then this all within the same scene.
Hiyoko: C'mon, are we just gonna stand around and wait for an exposition dump while this dark bitch is probably hunting Ruby down as we speak? Let's move!
  • Enraged by Idiocy: She lost it after Tucker kept flirting with her and went on a massive tirade against the Reds and Blues, excluding Caboose. This nearly causes her to pull a Rage Quit, but is talked down from it.
  • Equipment Upgrade: Throughout Galaxy, Hiyoko picks up multiple powerups that change her appearance and grant her additional abilities. She even gets power-ups that aren't in the original Galaxy game, such as the Penguin Suit and Rock Mushroom.
  • Here We Go Again!: Hiyoko lampshades this when she's caught in the crossfire over Bowser's invasion in the first chapter of Super RWBY Galaxy.
Hiyoko: Why do I always get caught up in these bullshit "wrong place, wrong time" moments?!
  • He's Back!: After the last Galaxy adventure left her shaken up and swearing off space travel, she comes back swinging in Galaxy 2 to take initiative against the Phazon threat.
  • Odd Friendship: Despite her grievances with the Blood Gulch crew, she's rather fond of Caboose.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Tex manages to lay out JNPR rather quickly and she's the only one left in the field.
  • Reformed Bully: Hiyoko tells Byleth she used to be a bully, as seen in her home series, but now only reserves her 'inner bitch' for those who deserve it.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She doesn't want to talk about what happened on Jabberwock Island that caused her to have a change of heart, but claims to have taken time to try and better herself. Those who have seen her game will know exactly what happened.

     Sonia Nevermind

Princess Sonia Nevermind

Ultimate Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonia_nevermind.png
  • Badass Teacher: Being a princess with militaristic experience, she serves as this towards Team LAFF and Logue ever since the 4th chapter of Forgotten Land after the kids learned about her background with militaristic experience and asked her if she could become their teacher for combat training, to which she gladly accepts.
  • Beyond the Impossible: We're not exactly sure how she managed to do it, but she managed to escape a certain foggy realm where death is not an escape.
  • Cool Teacher: She's very competent when it comes to teaching a group of little kids basic combat. It's no wonder why Team LAFF and Logue highly looked up to her as their mentor during JINXY and the Forgotten Land, even going as far as to address her as "Sonia-sensei".
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She appeared along with several other classmates of hers fending off a Shroob invasion during the events of Partners in Time.
  • Expecting Someone Taller: She mentions that she was expecting Master Chief to be taller, unaware that she was talking to Chiaki.
  • Implied Love Interest: She and Gundham are extremely close and happen to share several interests, but whether they are just close friends or a couple has yet to be revealed. At the beginning of JINXY and the Forgotten Land, they appear to be on a double date with the confirmed couple in the form of Hajime and Chiaki, but nothing is confirmed... yet.
  • Irony: While stuck in the Fog, the Entity made her a killer. Sonia was one of the survivors of her Killing Game, meaning she fits better as a member of the other team.
  • Lethal Chef: In an attempt to cure Chiaki of her hangover, she makes a soup for her... or rather winds up making a soup so bad that one sip is enough to knock someone out, as poor Yusuke learned.
  • Mama Bear: Other than being their mentor, she's also a protective guardian toward the kids in JINXY and the Forgotten Land.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Her love for the horror genre speaks for itself.
  • Royal Rapier: Her weapon is a rapier that she wields to great effect.
  • Super-Strength: Has been shown to pull off incredible feats of strength as a result of her time as one of The Entity's killers, such as being able to lift the Giga Carrot and throw a Choomba.

     Kazuichi Soda

Kazuichi Soda

Ultimate Mechanic

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kazuichi_soda.png
  • Mr. Fixit: Befitting his title as the "Ultimate Mechanic", Kazuichi takes it upon himself to handle equipment for the heroes.
  • Non-Action Guy: He admits that he's not much of a fighter when talking with the heroes in Toad Square during Inside Story.

     Mikan Tsumiki

Mikan Tsumiki

Ultimate Nurse

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mikan_tsumiki.png
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Downplayed, as it's just her voice, but she helps Ibuki find Rosalina at the end of SPBRR: Fusion before making her proper debut in Galactic Conquest Prime.
  • Foil: Her to the Medic. Both are extremely talented doctors who are considered by everyone around them to be geniuses in their field. The difference is that Mikan is content to simply heal people while the Medic would rather experiment to see what he can come up with in terms of treatments.
  • Hospital Hottie: Apparently, a lot of Toad Town residents will get themselves injured so they can go see her. While Captain Toad doesn't do this, he does admit that he finds her attractive as well.
  • How Is That Even Possible?: Her reaction when Medic gives her Filo's notes that show that Filo indeed only got a stomach bug after eating Phazon.
  • I Hate Past Me: Mikan hates how much of a submissive coward she used to be and part of the reason she joins Hiyoko on her second visit to space is that she wants to prove she can be brave, both to the others, but also mainly to herself.
  • The Medic: Fitting her talent as the "Ultimate Nurse".
  • Sanity Has Advantages: The reason everyone primarily relies on her to serve as their medic despite others having better healing powers or technology? She's the only one who isn't insane.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In-game, she can barely form a sentence without breaking into tears. Here, she's brave enough to go into space to fight the Phazon infection head-on.

     Mahiru Koizumi

Mahiru Koizumi

Ultimate Photographer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mahiru_koizumi.png
  • A Day in the Limelight: After being in the background for the most part, Mahiru finally gets her moment to shine in RWBY: Wings of Ruin.
  • Camera Fiend: She's the Ultimate Photographer for a reason. Part of the reason she joins the group in Wings of Ruin is for all the photo ops.
  • Friendly Sniper: Mahiru takes up sniping in Wings of Ruin.
  • Team Pet: During RWBY: Wings of Ruin, Mahiru obtains a Basarios, later named Basalt.
  • Workplace-Acquired Abilities: As it turns out, Mahiru's talent for photography makes her a crack shot with a sniper rifle.

     Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu

Ultimate Yakuza

     Peko Pekoyama

Peko Pekoyama

Ultimate Swordswoman

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peko_pekoyama.png
  • A Day in the Limelight: She gets some love in Gaiden Chapter 98 where she's seen effortlessly beating the hell out of Dark Samus.
  • Badass Normal: Unlike most people Dark Samus has battled, Peko has no special powers or anything. She just happens to be really good with a sword.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Dark Samus egged her on to unleash her full potential with her sword. This proves to be quite the mistake as Peko effortlessly destroys her.
  • Implied Love Interest: She and Fuyuhiko are devoted to each other, but it's unclear what exactly the relationship is.
  • Master Swordswoman: Her talent.
  • Willfully Weak: Due to actions she took in her home series, Peko rarely unsheathes her blade when fighting. When Dark Samus eggs her on, their fight goes from even to a Curb-Stomp Battle rather quickly.

     Nagito Komaeda

Nagito Komaeda

Ultimate Lucky Student

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nagito_komaeda.png
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He has chilled out considerably compared to how he was in the Killing Game, now simply being a little eccentric.

     Teruteru Hanamura

Teruteru Hanamura

Ultimate Cook

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/teruteru_hanamura.png
  • Commonality Connection: He hits it off with fellow horndog Tucker almost as soon as they meet, with Tucker even calling him a brother.
  • Supreme Chef: True to his talent, Teruteru is an amazing cook.

     Akane Owari

Akane Owari

Ultimate Gymnast

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akane_owari.png
  • Big Eater: Akane will eat just about anything put in front of her, including rotten food and Shroobs.
  • Blood Knight: Akane loves fighting almost as much as she loves eating.
  • Dumb Muscle: She's not the brightest, but Akane is a powerful fighter.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: Akane isn't that bright, but she's got a big heart, to the point she was perfectly willing to give Ruby a ride on her shoulders during Seven Sirens just so Ruby could join the group in exploring the island without hurting herself further.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Her only real plan when it comes to fighting is to "hit something as hard as possible".
  • Noodle Incident: She visited Vegas at one point.

     Nekomaru Nidai

Nekomaru Nidai

Ultimate Team Manager

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nekomaru_nidai.png
  • Blood Knight: Much like Akane, he loves a good brawl.
  • The Juggernaut: His method of fighting involves using his strength and speed to plow directly at the enemy. Considering his size, it works very well.
  • Large Ham: He doesn't have much of an indoor voice.

     Gundham Tanaka

Gundham Tanaka

Ultimate Breeder

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gundham_tanaka.png
  • The Beastmaster: Being the "Ultimate Breeder", he can tame just about any animal, down to the Four Dark Devas of Destruction and then later the Beast Pack, who acts as his minions/soldiers.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Gundham is certainly eccentric, but make no mistake, he's very good at what he does and is one of the best fighters of Class 77-B.
  • Chuunibyou: Gundham acts exactly like an anime villain, though Elfilin doesn't get why.
  • Implied Love Interest: He and Sonia are extremely close and happen to share several interests, but whether they are just close friends or a couple has yet to be revealed. At the beginning of JINXY and the Forgotten Land, they appear to be on a double date with the confirmed couple in the form of Hajime and Chiaki, but nothing is confirmed... yet.
  • Large Ham: He has no indoor voice whenever his trademark eccentric theatrics come into play.

Ultra Despair Girls

     Komaru Naegi

Komaru Naegi

Ultimate Little Sister of Hope

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/komaru_naegi_3.jpg
  • Badass Cape: She now wears a black-colored cloak decorated with gold buttons as part of the new outfit she got in Splatsville.
  • Idiot Hair: Like her brother and the other Danganronpa protagonists, she has an ahoge as part of her main feature.
  • Morality Pet: She's Genocide Jack's, being pretty much the only person who can get the serial killer to behave.
  • Power-Up: She gets the Luna Blaster from Sheldon at Ammo Knights after she and the others arrive at Splatsville in the 2nd chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians.

     Toko Fukawa & Genocide Jack
Tropes applying to both:
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Both personas have a massive crush on Byakuya even though he not only doesn't reciprocate their feelings but outright insults them.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: After a brief shopping trip in Splatsville with Komaru, both personas now wear a set of comfortable and neater clothes as opposed to the old ragged sailor uniform they wore before.

Toko Fukawa

Ultimate Writing Prodigy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toko_fukawa.jpg
  • Deadpan Snarker: Pretty much every comment out of Toko's mouth that isn't gushing about Byakuya is some sort of snarky comment or insult.
  • Power-Up: She gets the N-ZAP '85 from Sheldon at Ammo Knights after she and the others arrive at Splatsville in the 2nd chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians.

Genocide Jack

Ultimate Murderous Fiend

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/genocide_jack.jpg
  • Ax-Crazy: The talent says it all.
  • Blood Knight: Jack loves fighting and killing.
  • Power-Up: She gets two Splanata Wipers from Sheldon at Ammo Knights after she and the others arrive at Splatsville in the 2nd chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians. Not to mention that Komaru traded in some of her scissors for them.

Despair Sisters / Hope Sisters

  • As a Whole:
    • Heel–Face Turn: Both were rather cruel figures in their home series, but after their respective resurrections, they’ve become much more mellow.
    • Starting a New Life: The sisters decided to start over on the good path after coming back to life and making amends with each other.
     Junko Enoshima

  • Ascended Extra: Originally a Chibi-exclusive character.
  • The Atoner: After her dip in the Lethe River, Junko has devoted her time to trying to track down her past victims. She also promises to be a better sister to Mukuro and a good role model to the Warriors of Hope.
  • Back from the Dead: The Universe Reset brought her back to life.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": How she reacts to Mr. Grizz's We Can Rule Together offer.
  • Butt-Monkey: In Chibi.
  • Do I Really Sound Like That?: During her nightmare of herself as the Phazon Queen, she thinks to herself if that's what her laugh of UPUPUPUPU! sounds like upon hearing Phazon!Junko deliver it.
  • Heel–Face Brainwashing: A dip in the Lethe River causes her to realize what a horrible person she is. Eggman later taunts her with this.
  • I Hate Past Me: Junko has made it clear that she hates the person she used to be, to the point where getting a nightmare of herself as the Phazon Queen drives her to tears and causes her to request Bowser to kill her if she ever relapses.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After the Lethe River causes her to forget why she loved despair so much, Junko is left horrified by what she did to her world.
  • Power-Up: She gets the Octobrush from Sheldon at Ammo Knights after she and the others arrive at Splatsville in the 2nd chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians.
  • Self-Imposed Exile: She chooses this path after parting ways with Chiaki after arriving in the Mushroom Kingdom.

     Mukuro Ikusaba

Mukuro Ikusaba

Ultimate Soldier

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mukuro_ikusaba.png
  • Back from the Dead: Mukuro was revived by Universe Reset, much like her classmates.
  • Badass Normal: Has no powers, yet was able to hold her own against pretty much all of the Galactic Federation's foot soldiers armed with only a knife.
  • Faking the Dead: She and Weiss pretended to be dead to catch Bradley off guard.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Went on this during SPBRR: Promised Day due to wanting revenge on her sister for killing her.
  • Tears of Joy: Sheds them after Junko gives her a Platonic Declaration of Love.
  • World's Best Warrior: Her talent is the Ultimate Soldier, and while she's naturally not the best anymore (since she lacks the powers of some other heroes and villains), she's still very good at fighting.

Zero

     Yasuke Matsuda

Yasuke Matsuda

Ultimate Neurologist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yasuke_matsuda_6.jpg
  • Aloof Big Brother: Let's say that he and his younger half-brother, Damian Desmond, don't see each other eye-to-eye a lot. Granted, Damian did mock his late birth mother simply for being a Faunus, so his current attitude towards him is quite understandable.
  • Alternate Self: This Yasuke was born on Remnant.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: In chapter 215 of Gaiden, he reveals his backstory to Junko and it is not pretty. His mother ended up contracting a mental disease that slowly destroyed her mind, preventing her from realizing who he and his father were. While Yasuke did try to bond with his mother, she was verbally and physically abusive to him, not realizing she was harming her son. Yasuke became a neurologist in hopes of curing her, only for his mother to still pass away. His dad, who, during everything, opted to hide in his study and liquor, wasted almost no time remarrying after this, leaving Yasuke pretty much alone in the world.
  • Dead Alternate Counterpart: Inverted. Of course, the Yasuke Matsuda that Junko and Kyoko knew was already dead in their home world. However, this Yasuke is alive and well.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can come off as an aloof, surly, and sharp-tongued asshole most of the time, but he still means well. As such, given his talent as the "Ultimate Neurologist" and occupation as a doctor at the Mushroom City Hospital, he does his best to take good care of his patients while also not shying away from sharing medical advice with other fellow medical professionals (i.e. Mikan) from time to time.
    • While he wasn't wrong to be very angry at Damian after he made scathing racist insults towards his late birth mother, he admits the fact that he might've gone a bit too far when he scared a little boy who didn't know any better straight by getting a bit too physical with him and also shooting him with death threats.
  • You Are Too Late: Right when he thought he could cure his mother's illness, his father revealed to him that she had died.

Warriors of Hope & Future Foundation - 15th Branch

     As a Whole
  • Abusive Parents: Not them, but all of them were abused in different ways by their birth parents, which is what Monaca used to convince them to kill all the adults in Towa City.
  • Age Lift: All of them are now young teenagers (13 to 14) in the SRS instead of preteens (10 to 12).
  • Happily Adopted: Other than being granted parole and community for their past crimes at Towa City by the Future Foundation along with rehabilitation via mandatory therapy with Bereto, Kyoko, and Makoto had also made arrangements for all of the Warriors of Hope (sans Monaca) to be put under adoption into new families via foster care.
    • Masaru with Nesta and the Winchester family.
    • Jataro with Sojiro and the Sakura family.
    • Kotoko for Mine and the Strauss family.
    • Nagisa with Pietro and the Polendina family.
  • Hitchhiker Heroes: The group originally started with just Masaru, Nagisa, Jataro, and Kotoko after Monoca left... but then came along Kokoro and the Pine Twins.
  • Karmic Jackpot: This applies wholeheartedly to the group as being put under rehabilitation by the Future Foundation.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: Thanks to Komaru, Makoto, and Kyoko, they are given a second chance for a better life at Remnant and the Mushroom Kingdom. Not to mention they're now also working with the Future Foundation under the newly-formed 15th Branch.
  • Shed the Family Name: All four of them ditched their old family names in favor of the family names of their new foster families, mostly as a way for them to disconnect themselves from their deceased abusive birth parents and embrace their new family lives.
  • Starting a New Life: Ever since the 185th chapter of Gaiden, the four remaining members decided to restart fresh through their new respective foster families at Remnant and the Mushroom Kingdom after being sentenced to rehabilitation by the Future Foundation via foster care and mandatory therapy with Bereto.

  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Has a pair of thick eyebrows that rivals Kiyotaka's.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: Downplayed. While he has no problem interacting with girls in a normal conversation, he becomes a bit of a dorky stuttering mess when things start to get remotely romantic or intimate. This was demonstrated in Chapter 187 of Super RWBY Gaiden where he often exhibits a Luminescent Blush whenever Kokoro's near him after he developed a crush on the ocelot Faunus during their first meeting together at Toad Park in said Gaiden chapter.
  • Chastity Couple: Downplayed. While he and Kokoro may be a couple, most of their physical intimacy doesn't go beyond hugging, Holding Hands, and even kissing given how they're still quite young.
  • Crush Blush: He somewhat gets easily flustered whenever he's near Kokoro or his crush on her is brought up.
  • Fiery Redhead: Generally speaking, Masaru is a young red-haired teenager with an attitude.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Despite his current efforts to atone and become a better person, he often thinks to himself that he'll never be fully able to forgive himself for his past atrocities at Towa City as much as he fears the thought of leaving Nesta crushed if ever he comes clean with her about the full details of his dark past. Fortunately, he soon starts to get better when he realizes that she would never even think any less of him once he finally told the truth to his whole foster family in the 198th chapter of Gaiden.
  • Humble Hero: Initially dubbing himself a "Hero" due to the Warriors of Hope's former goal to eliminate "Demons" and establish a kid-only paradise in Towa City, inspired by their shared traumatic experiences with abusive birth parents, he has evolved into a true embodiment of his role. Presently, he selflessly safeguards his loved ones without expecting anything in return, displaying thoughtfulness and introspection as he actively supports his friends. He consistently strives for personal growth, embodying the essence of a genuine hero.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Amidst his Heroic Self-Deprecation, he frequently deems himself unworthy of affection from a girl as kindhearted as Kokoro due to his past as a former terrorist and mass murderer. However, he gradually overcomes these thoughts during and after the events of ATMC: Skyward Sword.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's a human boy currently dating Kokoro, an ocelot Faunus girl.
  • The Leader: He became the leader (... or de facto leader at least) of the Warriors of Hope for real after Monaca left.
  • Never Bareheaded: He is very rarely seen without his headphones.
  • Official Couple: He and Kokoro officially become this at the end of the 223rd chapter of Gaiden.
  • Opposites Attract: He's a loud and outgoing boy dating Kokoro, a calm and reserved girl.
  • Pointless Band-Aid: Masaru wears a small bandage underneath his left eye and another above his right knee. He later removes them in Chapter 187 of Super RWBY Gaiden after getting a new outfit at Coconut Mall.
  • Power-Up: He would obtain a Flameblade and a Meteor Rod in the armory of the Smash Mansion during the first chapter of ATMC: Skyward Sword.
    • He would later get the Rod of Elements from Wizzro as a make-up gift after his Meteor Rod was lost and stolen by him as one of the components to make said weapon.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's the hot-blooded, reckless, and loud Red Oni to Nagisa's level-headed, intelligent, and mature Blue Oni.
  • "Shut Up" Kiss: He gives this one Kokoro in Chapter 233 of Gaiden when the ocelot Faunus attempted to finally confess her feelings to him but was left as a rambling mess. And right after when he tries to explain himself for what he just did, she gives one back to him.
  • Team Pet: Touya (Charcadet).
  • Tears of Joy: Sheds them after being relieved to hear that Nesta still doesn't think any less of him as her foster son when he finally opened up to her and the rest of the Winchester family (including Ironwood, Esdeath, and Korekiyo) about his dark past in the 198th chapter of Gaiden.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He may still be an energetic loudmouth, but he now acts like a much kinder and more compassionate boy than he was before after Nesta took him in.
  • Twice Shy: He and Kokoro have a crush on each other... but both are too flustered even to work up the courage to admit their feelings. This later gets slowly subverted however as the two of them start to feel comfortable with each other during their adventure in ancient Hyrule at ATMC: Skyward Sword.

  • Beautiful All Along: No matter how many times Jataro thinks he's ugly or that he hides half of his face with a face mask for that reason, his peers will never deny the truth that he's just a normal young teenage boy with a cute-looking face. While reluctant about it, he's somewhat willing to take small steps in accepting his true self when he allows Sojiro to remove his mask so that he can see his real face.
    • Although it is implied that he's very much aware of how adorable he looks but is a bit too shy about it as much as he wears the face mask to hide half of it whenever he's out in public.
  • Cool Mask: To replace the old stitched leather mask that he lost in Towa City, Jataro now wears a simple face mask which he uses to cover half of his face whenever he's out in public. Unlike before, Jataro can now remove his mask on his own accord whenever he feels comfortable enough to show his true face around certain people, namely his friends and his new foster father, Sojiro Sakura.
    • He later gets rid of the mask for good in the final chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians after he returns home.
  • He Cleans Up Nicely: Ever since the 187th chapter of Super RWBY Gaiden, he now wears neater and presentable clothes that fit him well as opposed to the dirty, baggy, and loose-fitting clothing he used to wear back then because of his neglectful and abusive birth mother.
  • Power-Up: During the first chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians, he is blessed with Hephaistos, a toolkit consisting of a steel hammer and a bundle of explosive iron nails which were crafted by and loosely named after the Greek smith god himself.
  • Shrinking Violet: Although not as strong as before, Jataro's still a bit rather shy and awkward when engaging in positive interactions with other people. Luckily, he's somewhat willing to take small steps to grow out of this after Sojiro takes him in as his foster son.
  • Team Chef: He's usually the one in charge of doing most of the cooking for the Warriors of Hope. Even better, he's also a borderline Supreme Chef because of how delicious the food he prepares is.
  • Team Pet: Kenzo (Dodrio), Callen (Marowak).

     Kotoko Utsugi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kotoko_utsugi_illustration.jpg
Click here to see her new look.
Artwork courtesy of darkrebellion04 on DeviantArt.
  • Badass Adorable: She may be an adorable cutie, but this girl isn't afraid to throw down with her bare hands or call out her Pokémon for battle when things get really serious.
  • Best Friend: Crossing over with Interspecies Friendship, she's best friends with Kokoro Kinokoshi, an ocelot Faunus.
  • Blessed with Suck: Her superpower, Athena's Valor, can be considered as this to some degree. For the most part, this grants her enhanced mobility and the strength to hit like a truck... but at the cost of either spraining her limbs or worse, breaking her bones. She can safely handle the stress of using Athena's Valor by limiting her full strength to 20%.
    • Eventually, she was able to hit up from 25 to 30% after the creation of the "Escalation" technique.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has pink-colored hair and eyes.
  • Fangirl: She's a big fan of Iono and her livestreams.
  • Former Child Star: Used to be a famous child actress back in Towa City. Unlike most examples though... she was still quite young when she "retired" from her career. Not to mention that some of the negative effects still linger within her.
    • Despite this, however, this doesn't stop her from putting her acting skills to good use.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Like Nagisa, she acknowledges the harsh reality that the Warriors of Hope's past atrocities in Towa City were never justified, regardless of the tragic or understandable aspects of their abusive backgrounds. She firmly believes that these actions did not make them any better than the "Demons" who had a very negative impact on their lives.
  • Girly Bruiser: Let's see here... Loves girly and cute things? Check. Has pink and white as her primary color scheme? Check. A big fan of sweets? Check. A talented actress who can easily put up a deceiving front? Check. A hotheaded fighter who's proficient at martial arts? Check. Has a similar superpower that's nearly strong enough to rival Izuku Midoriya's One For All? Check. Likes exercising and working out at the gym? Check. A skilled and aspiring Pokémon Trainer? Check.
  • Headbutt of Love: She briefly shares one with Masaru in the 187th chapter of Super RWBY Gaiden. When the former Li'l Ultimate P.E. expressed his fears about how the Winchesters and Kokoro would react if ever he decided to come clean about his past crimes in the Killing Game of Towa City, Kotoko responds to this by gently touching her forehead with Masaru's and also giving him a warm Cooldown Hug as she reassures her friend that his foster family and crush will surely understand him once he feels like he's ready to cross that bridge while also reminding him that the Warriors of Hope will always have his back whenever he needs them.
  • Pink Is Feminine: She's super girly and has pink as part of her primary color scheme, which Mine highly approves.
  • Power-Up: With Kokoro and Palutena's help, she is blessed with Athena's Valor during the first chapter of ATMC: Skyward Sword, which was given to her by the titular Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare herself.
    • In addition, she also learned tai chi and mixed martial arts with Mine's guidance beforehand.
  • Sibling Team: Despite not being blood-related, Kotoko and Mine are sisters who work together as the tech producers of both Sea5ons and Epiphany, with the latter acting as the assistant of the position.
  • Shipper on Deck: Ever since the 187th chapter of Super RWBY Gaiden, she became this for Masaru and Kokoro after noticing how the former developed a crush on the latter and gets somewhat easily flustered whenever he's near her. As such, she often teases Masaru about it and even advises him to try taking Kokoro out on a date one day.
  • Shout-Out: Her Pokémon are named after three characters from the Creed (2015) movie trilogy, namely Adonis Creed, the trilogy's main protagonist, Bianca Taylor-Creed, Adonis' fiancé-turned-wife, and then Amara Creed, Adonis and Bianca's daughter.
  • Smurfette Principle: Was the only female member of the Warriors of Hope after Monaca left... until Kokoro and Mabel later joined in.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Her being adopted into/put under foster care with a rich family certainly has its perks. As such, there was one instance wherein she had no qualms about offering to treat her friends out for pancakes at Cafe Cirrostratus for early dinner and paying for their meals using her family's wealth.
  • Team Pet: Adonis (Machop → Machoke → Machamp), Bianca (Clefairy), and Amara (Eevee).
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Shares this dynamic with her best friend, Kokoro. While both girls are feminine in terms of appearances, Kotoko is an extroverted, hotheaded, and passionate girl who is proficient in martial arts and loves engaging in Pokémon Battles, while Kokoro is an introverted, demure, and level-headed girl who loves singing, playing the piano, and baking sweets.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Downplayed. While she may be proficient at martial arts and act as the "Fighter" in the Warriors of Hope, Kotoko prefers wearing feminine clothing as much as she still greatly enjoys doing girly things like fawning over stuff she finds "adorbs" and spending some of her time trying to look cute.
  • Took a Level in Badass: She now certainly lives up to her role as the "Fighter" in the Warriors of Hope after she learned from Mine different types of martial arts such as tai chi and MMA. The power of her natural fighting abilities then gets doubled after being blessed with a portion of Athena's godly fighting spirit in the form of Athena's Valor.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: While still retaining her playful and mischievous streak, she noticeably had become a much kinder and compassionate girl than she was before ever since the final Killing Game ended along with being put under foster care with Mine's family by the Future Foundation.
  • Trauma Button: The word "gentle", which she developed when her biological abusive mother forced her into child prostitution as a way to boost her former career as a child actress, leaving her emotionally traumatized from all the sexual abuse she forced herself to endure as a result. Luckily for her, she's currently working her way to move past this with Mine's help.
    • As of the 246th chapter of Super RWBY Gaiden, she no longer freaks out whenever she hears "gentle" no thanks to therapy with Bereto and Mine's help. However, some of that trauma lingers as the word later becomes a bit of a Berserk Button for her instead.

  • Anime Hair: His devil horn-like hair spikes defy all laws of gravity and logic.
  • Badass Longcoat: He wears a long white tailcoat with cerulean inner linings as part of his new outfit.
  • Brutal Honesty: While he didn't mean to come off as this, he wasn't wrong when he bluntly pointed out to Mabel her mistake of not thinking through the obvious idea of simply moving her and Dipper's 13th birthday party to a different date instead when nobody in Gravity Falls was available to come on the actual day itself.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has blue-colored hair and eyes.
  • The Face: While he may be the vice leader, he's usually the one in charge of doing most of the talking for his friends.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Nagisa acknowledges that while the Warriors of Hope's initial goal for an "adult-free paradise" in Towa City, during Monaca's involvement, might be understandable, it doesn't justify their actions. He highlights the unjustifiable murder of numerous innocent adults and the forced brainwashing of countless children, with Kotoko concurring, who emphasizes that their past actions don't make them any better than the horrible "Demons" who negatively impacted their lives.
  • The Lancer: The vice leader of the Warriors of Hope.
  • Marshmallow Hell: He was on the receiving end of this from Miu after Pietro introduced him to her during his visit to his pharmacy in Mantle.
  • Not Worth Killing: He, Masaru, and Jataro felt that launching a nuclear missile into space meant to kill Monaca as payback for everything that she did to them in the past isn't worth their time anymore, yet Kotoko on the other hand thinks otherwise.
  • Power-Up: He would obtain an Ancient Spear in the armory of the Smash Mansion during the first chapter of CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's the level-headed, intelligent, and mature Blue Oni to Masaru's hot-blooded, reckless, and loud Red Oni.
  • Shout-Out: The jacket he currently wears appears as the same one Blake Belladonna wore in Volumes 4 to 7 but with cerulean inner linings instead of dark purple.
  • Team Dad: Being the most level-headed and mature member of the Warriors of Hope, Nagisa retains his role as the group's resident mediator and "babysitter" alongside Kokoro, who tends to act as the new resident Team Mom.
  • Team Pet: Ratatosk (Pachirisu), Arctozolt.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: While still rather calm and a bit strict, Nagisa has noticeably become a much happier boy than he was before ever since he was put under foster care with Dr. Pietro Polendina's family by the Future Foundation.
  • Wise Beyond His Years: Needless to say he's quite intelligent and mature for a young teenager.

V3 Students

  • As a Whole:
    • Adaptational Backstory Change: In canon, all of them were (apparently) in-universe Danganronpa fans who wanted to be a part of it and were led to believe they were Ultimate students via Brainwashing. Here, all of them are Remnant natives with natural talents.
    • Adaptational Badass: Many of them have Semblances here when canon showed they were normal humans.

     Shuichi Saihara

Shuichi Saihara Neves

Ultimate Detective

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saihara.png
  • Crime Reconstruction: His Semblance, Recap, allows him to recreate a crime scene that happened within the past 48 hours.
  • Crossover Relatives: Both he and Kokichi are the sons of Yuri here, which also makes them the nephews of their father's older sister, Yor, and the cousins of her adoptive children, Chelsea and Kokoro.
  • Idiot Hair: Like Kaede and the other Danganronpa protagonists, he has an ahoge as part of his main feature.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's the calm, mature, yet somewhat shy Blue Oni Straight Man to his brother Kokichi's energetic, goofy, and chaotic Red.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He and Kokichi are brothers here unlike in canon where the two of them are just classmates.

     Kaede Akamatsu

  • Idiot Hair: Like her fellow Danganronpa protagonists, she has an ahoge as part of her main feature.
  • Music Magic: Her Semblance, Melodius Symphony, counts as this. Depending on the type of music she plays, she can generate special musical notes that could either calm down negative emotions, heal wounds, give someone a temporary power boost, or cause explosions.

     Angie Yonaga

Angie Yonaga

  • Cloudcuckoolander: Like her canon self, she has an odd sense of perks, abilities, and motives.
  • Honorary Aunt: She happily becomes this towards Nagisa after Pietro introduces his foster son to her.
  • Mad Scientist: In a comical sense, she is a great inventor but has an eccentric nature.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In canon, she and Keebo are classmates with hints of feelings towards each other. Here, Miu is for all intentions and purposes, Keebo's mother, being the one who created him.

     Kirumi Tojo

Kirumi Tojo

Ultimate Maid

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tojo.png
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Far less stoic than in canon, as well as less utterly devoted to the idea of being a servant to others.
  • Age Lift: In canon, she was a teenager. Here, she's heavily implied to be an adult since she worked for the Schnees when Weiss and Whitley were children.
  • Almighty Janitor: An extremely talented maid who was one of the only people willing to stand up to Jacques back when she worked for him.
  • Ascended Extra: In canon, she's an early death. Here, she was not only the first V3 character to appear, she's also appeared the most so far.
  • Crossover Relatives: She is Klein Sieben's niece here.
  • Glowing Eyes: When using her Semblance, her eyes glow green.
  • Honorary Aunt: Whitley and Weiss consider her one and she certainly hasn't objected to the idea.
  • Morph Weapon: Her feather duster can transform into a staff for combat.
  • Team Pet: She obtained both an Aknosam and a Radobaan, named Pallysol and Ankou respectively, before heading to Terga to assist Weiss and her friends.

     Kokichi Ouma

Kokichi Ouma Neves

Ultimate Supreme Leader

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ouma_4.png
  • Action Bomb: The clones spawned from his Semblance explode.
  • Adaptational Heroism: While he's still a prankster, he's directly working with the heroes and never implies himself to be a villain like he did in the game.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Kokichi seems to take nothing seriously, yet when push comes to shove, he's a very effective fighter and trickster.
  • Crossover Relatives: Both he and Shuichi are the sons of Yuri here, which also makes them the nephews of their father's older sister, Yor, and the cousins of her adoptive children, Chelsea and Kokoro.
  • The Gadfly: Absolutely loves to get a rise out of anyone just for a quick laugh.
  • Groin Attack: His preferred method of dealing with villains.
  • Master of Illusion: Part of what his Semblance allows him to do is cover the area in shadow and then make a clone of himself, which he can detonate like a bomb.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's the energetic, goofy, and chaotic Red Oni prankster to Shuichi's calm, mature, yet somewhat shy Blue.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He and Shuichi are brothers here unlike in canon where the two of them are just classmates.
  • Worth It: He eagerly declares this after Maki punches him due to making a sexual innuendo after she stops him from telling the kids about what a one-night stand is.

     Maki Harukawa

Maki Harukawa (formerly Mikazuchi)

Ultimate Assassin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maki_2_0.png
  • Becoming the Mask: Zig-zagged. Despite being a double agent of Night Raid and eventually helping Tyrian kill off the guild, she genuinely enjoyed her time there along with getting along with some of the members of the Mikazuchi clan. It's no wonder why Akame and Kurome took the truth behind her past allegiance hard...
  • Death Seeker: Ever since her involvement in Night Raid's destruction, she desires a death to make up for her sins.
  • The Mole: She was a former member of the Night Raid guild and a one-time double agent for Salem's Inner Circle, the latter of which she regretted eventually.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She had this moment upon realizing her mistake in helping Tyrian destroy Night Raid.
  • My Greatest Failure: Maki deeply regrets her actions on Night Raid's destruction.
  • The Paralyzer: Her Semblance, Bloodcurdle, grants her the ability to release a blood red-colored oppressive Aura that gives off a Killing Intent, which causes her foes within a 4.5-meter radius to become intimidated and nearly paralyzed with fear.

     Rantaro Amami

Rantaro Amami

Ultimate Adventurer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amami.png
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Gives a massive one to Daedalus, which forces him to realize that what Amon did to his father wasn't entirely Iris' fault and that he was unfairly branding her as a scapegoat this whole time:
"Daedelus, let me ask you something. Are you truly mad at Iris or are you still mad at Amon for what he did to your father's legs and you're just redirecting your anger to Iris because that asshole disappeared?"
  • Cool Sword: Rantaro's sword can unleash Greek-like Wings attachments that can fly around and shoot lasers.
  • Childhood Friends: He and Iris Icaria grew up together on the same island of Lemnos.
  • Mellow Fellow: Like his canon self, he's pretty much an approachable, laid-back, and soft-spoken guy anyone can easily get along with.
  • Searching for the Lost Relative: One of Rantaro's goals is to look for his lost adoptive younger sister, who went missing after Amon attacked Lemnos island.
  • Wall Crawl: Rantaro's Semblance allows him to climb on any surface. He can use it even when jumping to avoid attacks.

     Tenko Chabashira

Tenko Chabashira

Ultimate Aikido Master

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tenko.png
  • Adaptational Intelligence: In canon, Tenko wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed as her thoughts are often disorganized, being more brawns than brains. Here, she was somehow smart enough to be able to figure out who the Phantom Thieves were upon meeting Makoto Niijima for the first time.
  • Does Not Like Men: Her distaste for men is the result of every boy she met in the past being a terrible person.
  • Meditation Power Up: Her Semblance, Calm Mind, allows her to boost her attack and defense by simply taking a deep breath to calm herself during a fight.

     Tsumugi Shirogane

Tsumugi Shirogane

Ultimate Cosplayer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsumigi_6.png
  • Adaptational Heroism: In canon, she's a Loony Fan of Danganronpa and is the Mastermind of the Killing Game, pretty much making her the Big Bad. Here, she's just a simple cosplayer who simply wants to make people smile and a fairly successful business owner who runs an apparel and tailoring boutique in Vale.
  • Master of Disguise: As per her talent, Tsumugi is great at costumes, to the point where she's able to pass herself off as the male Goku in her introduction chapter.
  • Power Copying: Her Semblance allows her to copy the powers of whoever she happens to be dressed as.

     Gonta Gokuhara

Gonta Gokuhara-Moss

Ultimate Entomologist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gonta.png
  • Adaptation Species Change: Given that Oran's his brother, he's implied to be some type of Faunus. In WSSP: Frontiers, he is revealed to be a wolf Faunus with his wolf ears hidden underneath his hair.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He shows up to help defend Ruby against Donovan when the latter tries to kill her.
  • Cool Big Bro: He's Oran's older brother and he seems to hold Gonta in the same regard as people like Ruby.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Gonta uses a customized butterfly net weapon called Pan's Multinet. Pan's Multinet has four different forms he can access through several buttons.
    • The first button is the butterfly net, the base form of Pan's Multinet.
    • The second button can transform Pan's Multinet into a chainsaw.
    • The Thirid button can transform Pan' Multinet into a cannon that can fire dust, which depends on the type of dust Gonta uses.
    • The final button can transform Gonta's weapon into a hammer form.
  • Pest Controller: His Semblance, Bugs Control, allows him to command bugs to assist him. He can even command Bug Type Pokémon, but it has a 50% chance of working due to their intelligence.
  • Survivor's Guilt: Because he wasn't in his home village when it was attacked due to a fight with his parents, he feels guilty as he feels like he could have saved other people. Learning Oran's still alive eases him a little.
  • You No Take Candle: How he talks.

Misc.

Top: Monosuke, bottom: Monodam, left: Monophanie, right: Monokid, middle: Monotaro.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In this universe, they were created by Caboose and were designed by Junko, who was feeling lonely in her exile.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Unlike their canon counterparts, the Monokubs are merely mischievous yet otherwise harmless robots playing hide and seek with their creator.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Red for Monotaro, pink for Monophanie, blue for Monokid, yellow for Monosuke, and green for Monodam.
