Go To

The thirty-fourth episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

When a village of rabbits is threatened by Robotnik, Sonic and Tails team up with Big Mike A.K.A. "Da Bearz" to run a booby-trapped gauntlet in their gigantic Road Warrior-like truck.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bad Boss: Robotnik forces the rabbit villagers to build a mountain shaped like his face in Mt. Rocky, refusing to let them take a lunch break.
  • Bannister Slide: Sonic does this while in Scratch and Grounder's castle to warn the two badniks not to get on Big Griz and Big Mike's bad sides, lest they get a beating from them.
  • Beary Funny: Big Griz and Big Mike, A.K.A. Da Bears assist Sonic in his quest to bring a food convoy truck to the rabbit village.
  • Black Knight: Scratch and Grounder summon a giant robotic knight named Sir Humongous to stop Sonic and his friends in their tracks.
  • Circling Birdies: Stars spin around Scratch and Grounder's heads when a giant trophy falls on them.
  • Chekhov's Gun: After Sonic and Big Mike return from Scratch and Grounder's interrogation chamber, Tails installs a red button on the convoy truck. Updike wants to know what it does, but Sonic tells him not to press it until he gives the signal. It is later revealed that the red button causes the convoy to transform into a dragon, which ends up being the key to defeating Sir Humongous.
  • Continuity Nod: Scratch and Grounder use the Egg-O-Matic Tunnelizer and Town Terrorizer from "Lovesick Sonic" to capture Big Mike and take him to their secret base for interrogation.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses primarly on Big Griz and Big Mike, A.K.A. Da Bearz, both of whom were previously seen in "The Robotnik Express".
  • Dreadful Dragonfly: When Big Mike refuses to tell Scratch and Grounder what he knows about their top-secret booby-traps, the badniks summon robot dragonflies to attack him. Mike easily smashes them.
  • Fire-Breathing Diner: The alligator breathes fire when Sonic feeds him some spicy chili. He propels himself back and lands on Scratch and Grounder.
  • Fun with Homophones: This exchange:
Sonic: Yo, Doc 'Botnik, don't get so hot under the collar!
Robotnik: "Hot"? What are you talking about, "Hot"? I'm freezing, frosty, and...
    Big Mike: Chili!
Robotnik: I already said I was cold, you fool, so of course I'm feeling...
    (Mike squirts chili at Robotnik)
    Robotnik: Chilly!
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Tails helps Sonic and Da Bearz fix a convoy truck to get to the rabbits' village, and also modifies it to transform into a dragon to defeat Sir Humongous.
  • Instant Mass: Just Add Water!: Scratch and Grounder have just-add-water tablets for a medieval castle and Sir Humongous, both of which they summon by tossing them into the water.
  • Mythology Gag: Before Sonic rebuilds the mountain shaped like Robotnik's face to resemble Big Griz and Big Mike's, he says to Tails, "I'm miles ahead of you, Miles! Er, I mean, Tails, old buddy!"
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: While in the swamp, the convoy truck is chased by a hungry alligator, whom Sonic fends off by feeding him some chili. The spiciness of the chili causes the alligator to propel himself back and land on Scratch and Grounder.
  • Rushmore Refacement: Robotnik forces the rabbit villagers to build a mountain shaped like his face. At the end of the episode, Sonic rebuilds the mountain to resemble Big Griz and Big Mike.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Sir Humongous flees after being torched by the convoy in its dragon form.
  • Shout-Out:
    • This episode's title is a reference to the 1981 film, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.
    • The rabbit character of Updike is a reference to John Updike, the author of the book "Rabbit, Run".
  • Squashed Flat:
    • Happens to Scratch and Grounder when the convoy truck runs over their road barrier.
    • Happens to Scratch and Grounder again when Sir Humongous steps on them while fleeing from the Convoy in its Dragon form. At the end of the episode, the flattened Scratch and Grounder are revealed to be stuck to the bottom of his right foot when they get a phone call from Robotnik.
  • Title Drop: After Updike tells Big Mike about how dangerous the Toad Warriors are and how they succeeded in wiping out the last convoy, Mike tells him, "Yeah, but this time they're up against Mad Mike, Da Bear Warrior!"
  • Transforming Vehicle: The convoy truck is able to transform into a robotic dragon-like form, which is used to chase off Sir Humongous.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: When the rabbit villagers turn against Robotnik, they chase him up the mountain shaped like his face, and he flees in his Egg-O-Matic hovercraft.
  • You Just Told Me: In the Interrogation Center, Scratch and Grounder ask Big Mike what he knows about their top-secret booby traps, but he tells them he doesn't know anything. Sonic, disguised as a WWII German interrogator, tricks the badniks into revealing to Mike what the booby traps are, and when they are finished with the interrogation, Mike tells them that he really didn't know anything about the booby-traps before, but now that they told him about them, he does.
