On this wiki, we like to operate by consensus. Big moves and changes need community discussion, at least to a degree. However, some tropers like to do things solo...and leave a trail of messes behind for the rest of us.
This is a thread for the community to tackle these issues together. We can ping tropers over, clean up/revert changes, and in general, make sure massive alterations don't occur in secret.
Not sure if they have sources to add it, but forgot to put a reason. Unless ~Hello Lamppost still remembers the reasoning on why it's not a Dead Unicorn Trope.

And regardless given that the trope was clearly defined before as specifically about a type of stock parody, completely redefining it without discussion does not seem okay.

Since this is not true, I corrected it. I did not ask permission because it did not occur to me that correcting an apparent honest mistake would be controversial.
However, if you would like to create a separate trope for straight examples and leave Captain Space exclusively for parodies, that's fine with me. Just please do not put back the claim that it is a Dead Unicorn Trope, because that is not true.
Your explanations are valid; maybe a straight example would do if we discuss it.

Honestly, I'd be open to TLPing a "Classic Space Hero" trope for the characters like Captain Future, but Captain Space, Defender of Earth! has always been about a fairly specific type of parody.
Okay then. Classic Space Hero sounds like a good name. Is the correct next step the YKTTW forum?
I'm planning on adding headers to all of the Works with Trope Subpages, which also feature labelnotes to add the many individual trope subpages to the headers without making the header take up too much space.

I've had the idea to do this for some time with my own design for the headers, but wanted to see what the people here thought of it. I've also asked TrueGenesis24 if I could do this, and they said yes.

So for as long as I can remember, Captain Space, Defender of Earth! was about a very specific stock parody kind of character, and there was discussion about how the subject of said parodies didn't really exist, with the actual classic space heroes being somewhat different. When I wiki-walked to it today, though, the description seems to have been rewritten to much more of a "generalized space hero" trope, it now claims it's been falsely accused of being a Dead Unicorn Trope, and a lot of those classic characters are now actually listed as examples. Looking through the history this seems to have been done quite a while back in 2020 by someone named Hello Lamppost (who's also responsible for the majority of edits in the more recent history), but there is no edit reason for what looks a lot like completely redefining the trope.
