Transposition F is a crossover between RWBY and Dragon Ball Z created by J-Dude2470.

Having finally gathered the Namekian Dragon Balls, Son Gohan, Krillin and Dende prepare to (grudgingly) grant Vegeta the immortality he seeks for the sake of stopping Frieza. This time, however, Frieza realizes Nail's deception earlier and arrives just as they're about to claim their wish. In the ensuing chaos, Dende panics and wishes for the dragon to send the evil megalomaniac to another planet... along with his enemies, including Bulma and a still recovering Goku.

Upon arrival, the six outworlders are scattered across the world of Remnant, each of them eventually becoming involved in the conflict between Ruby Rose and her friends against the forces of the enigmatic Salem, Queen of the Grimm. With new allies and enemies, strange powers and abilities, and two terrible beings that threaten the already fragile stability of the world, the Z Fighters and aspiring Huntsmen and Huntresses must do everything in their power to stop the coming storm...

Transposition F contains examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: Vegeta asks Weiss if her father "moonlights as a deity" after hearing him speak at length, referencing that Jacques and Beerus have the same English voice actor.
  • Adaptational Abomination: Salem canonically Was Once a Man who was cursed with immortality and tried to escape it by jumping into the Pool of Destruction, being warped by it into her current state. Here, "Salem" is a Grimm who gained sentience after a human woman fell into a pool of Destruction and was subsequently possessed, starting life as confused and impressionable before the woman's family and fiancé treated her with fear and hatred which kickstarted the entire Grimm hivemind into their war on mankind. Salem wasn't even her original name until Ozpin's first incarnation named her, and she needs to periodically take new bodies to replace the failing ones.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Chapter 3 gives us Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin and Bulma having their Auras awakened by Team RWBY in chapter 3. This is particularly notable for Bulma, who, as far as fighting is concerned, has always been The Team Normal. Goku has also had his aura unlocked by Tai, but he can't use a semblance.
    • As of chapter 20, all of Team RWBY, JNR, Sun, Oscar and Raven have learned ki, with some of them training to learn techniques like The Kaio-ken and Spirit Bomb.
    • Yang's semblance has upgraded to a state known as Sapphire Phoenix where her Aura is overloaded, giving her a larger boost in power as well as self-healing.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Raven is presented in a much more positive light. While her canon counterpart was a self-centered coward who cared little about her daughter, this version left for fear that Salem's forces will use Yang against her and kept watching over her (Yang) throughout her life. Later on, she also ends up stealing the Relic of Knowledge and sending it to Taiyang, meaning that this version never betrays the main characters to Salem and was likely doing it to draw the Witch's wrath to herself instead of Yang and her friends. While still the leader of a brutal bandit clan and something of a Social Darwinist, this Raven's still a far cry from her canon self.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Raven starts a relationship with Vegeta, at least on the surface solely to sire a child, whereas in canon she's apparently never been in another relationship aside from Tai. She also hints that she and Qrow may or may not have had a relationship in the past, mostly by the pushing of their father who believed they were the strongest of the tribe and thus should produce a worthy next heir.
    • Taiyang and Bulma are implied to slowly developing hints of a relationship. Taiyang is also revealed to have at least briefly slept with Qrow in the past, though that was also Qrow's way of getting at Raven.
    • Most notably, Blake starts a relationship with Sun, partially to give him something to live for after Frieza murders the rest of his team, while Yang is building a relationship with Krillin.
    • Salem and Ozpin/Ozma have a much less intimate past relationship than canon. Whereas canonically they were married lovers whose love was torn apart by their circumstances and failings into bitter enemies fighting for the world's fate, here that never happened. Salem instead is a Grimm who gained sentience from possessing a human woman that existed long before the cataclysm that destroyed Remnant, while Ozpin was born after the cataclysm and his original incarnation was the wizard (who was incidentially one of the last who could still use magic) who bestowed his magic on the original Four Maidens. Salem came to him after that seeking to fool him into undoing the magical seal keeping the Four Relics locked away from her grip, and in the struggle that followed after he did so and she fatally wounded him he managed to take the Relics away (and gaining his curse of Resurrective Immortality in the process of touching the divine objects) and hide them before he succumbed to injury and revived for the first time, starting his eternal mission of keeping the Relics safe.
  • Adaptational Romance Downgrade:
    • As part of Vegeta and Raven, Tai and Bulma, Blake and Sun, and Yang and Krillin starting relationships of varying degrees of seriousness, the canonical couplings of Vegeta/Bulma, Blake/Yang, and (possibly) Krillin/Android 18 haven't developed or at least will develop in a much different way.
    • A big part of the change to the backstory of the Fusion Fic is that Ozpin/Ozma and Salem were not married at all. In fact, Salem was never even human and existed long before Ozpin, whose original first incarnation was the wizard from the tale of the Four Maidens.
  • The Apprentice: In exchange for unlocking his Aura, Vegeta agrees to train Weiss in Ki Manipulation.
  • An Arm and a Leg: During the Battle of Haven, Adam chops off most of Sun's tail and Hazel gets his right arm blown off courtesy of Jaune jamming an exposed electrical cable into the Fire Dust crystal currently stuck into said arm and making it explode. Shortly afterwards, Frieza crushes and rips off Yang's prosthetic arm, expressing some annoyance someone beat him to the punch there but making it clear he'd happily rip off her other flesh-and-blood limbs too before he's interrupted.
  • Attack Reflector: As revealed in a flashback from Qrow, this is how Cinder got horribly maimed during her fight with Ruby. She tried to blast her with a full-powered magic fire blast only for Ruby's Silver Eye magic constructs to reflect it back at her. The result horribly burned her face and effectively made her arm melt off.
  • Ate His Gun: One of the Vacuo Minutemen who's been reassigned to the "trials" (read, public firing squad executions) of fellow Vacuo citizens eventually can't take it anymore and turns his gun on himself. Frieza simply tells someone nearby to add his surname to "the list", implicitly so that any family members can be punished in turn for his "dereliction of duty".
  • Bait the Dog: As Frieza's rage threatens to hit boiling point when he realizes that Remnant is in an entirely separate galaxy from the greater part of his space empire, he suddenly seems to calm down and politely, even jovially, interacts with a little Vacuo girl who innocently asks him to show her parents mercy for apparent crimes that would lead to execution and telling him that being angry doesn't mean you need to be mean to other people. Frieza compliments her on her innocent loyalty and promises that he'll lift her from her woes. He then swiftly kills her with a blow to the chest such that she doesn't even register it happened before dying, and then allows the girl's grieving and furious mother to leave as a Cruel Mercy.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Frieza and Salem are the main threats of the story.
  • Bilingual Bonus: In the story, Namekian is phonetically spelled as Icelandic, thus making instances of it being used translatable. See Wham Line below.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: As the Remnant gang are beginning to be trained by the Z Fighters, Goku decides to confront Ruby's lack of hand-to-hand skills directly. When Ruby awkwardly tries to copy his fighting stance, he laughs and points out that she needs to use what comes naturally to her, telling her she simply needs to take the instincts she developed from using Crescent Rose and apply them to fighting bare-handed. He uses their following spar to bait her into building her confidence, hesitating and leaving openings for her to exploit for dodging, throwing, blocking, and striking back. As Qrow notes watching from the sidelines, while Ruby's skill level is still novice, Goku's lesson has gotten over her biggest barrier of self-doubt and has left her eager to learn more rather than trying to deny its necessity.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Nora wets herself in fear after just barely avoiding getting sliced apart by one of Frieza's Death Beams. While she's embarrassed by it, no one else blames her for her reaction.
  • Call-Back: The first thing Bulma does in Remnant is hitting Sun (a boy with a monkey tall) with her car. This is exactly how she meets Goku and her first scene in manga and anime. She even lampshades this:
Bulma (thought): I am having the weirdest case of deja vu ...
  • Cruel Mercy: Frieza decides to spare the heroes' lives at Haven after Krillin manages to temporarily blind him and everyone who hadn't already been evacuated back to Tai's home by Raven's portal Semblance hides in the forest where he can't explicitly see them or find them without his Scouter, but in true Frieza fashion he proclaims that others will pay the price for this "mercy" and makes a show of blowing up what's left of Mistral. Even worse, just before he leaves it's made clear he does see Ruby in the forest, but is too satisfied savoring in her despair and guilt to finish her off.
  • Culture Clash: Bulma is rather surprised at the discrimination the Faunus suffer from, as animal folk back on Earth are rarely, if ever a victim of such, even mentioning that the King of Nations is a terrier.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Upon arriving on Remnant, Gohan is transported right in the middle of Team RNJR's fight against the Nuckelavee and proceeds to eliminate the Grimm with barely an effort.
    • Krillin casually takes out a group of the Branwen bandits menacing a gas station with only token help from Yang.
    • Frieza's first "fight" with the heroes at Haven isn't much of one. He easily kills Ilia, Neptune, Sage, and Scarlet with no effort, and even when Vegeta steps up and proves he's a match for his first form, he simply activates his second form, at which point it takes everything from Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan just to keep him occupied while the other RWBY characters are all but leaves against a hurricane. By the end, the only reason they're alive is because Frieza decides to inflict Cruel Mercy in response to Krillin blinding him with Solar Flare and the rest hiding in the forest, blowing up what's left of Mistral as a "price" for being allowed to live.
    • The army of Grimm squatting in the ruins of Beacon versus the Z Fighters and the Remnant heroes post their training and unlocking their Ki. The only Grimm that can give them anything resembling trouble is the Wyvern, and even then Ruby is still able to kill it with one sustained Silver Eye blast.
  • Death by Adaptation: The Branwen Tribe, minus Raven and Vernal, are destroyed by Frieza, as revealed in chapter 13. He also kills Ilia, Team SSSN (minus Sun) and Winter Schnee in chapter 14.
  • Die or Fly:
    • Ruby unlocks her ability to utilize Ki by going inside the gravity chamber and cranking it to 100x gravity, determined to unlock her power or die trying since she can't accept that despite all the lessons she and the Remnant crew have received from the Z Fighters, they're still no closer to finally unleashing their hidden power, and every day Frieza tightens his grip and kills more innocent people with them helpless to stop him.
    • In the very next chapter, Vegeta "inspired" by Ruby's actions takes Weiss and forces her face-first into a nearby lake with his foot on the back of her head, telling her to unlock her power or drown, since otherwise she'll just be dead weight in the fight against Frieza. She succeeds, and shortly afterwards Raven throws herself to the bottom of the lake to invoke this herself to unlock her own Ki. Luckily after this, Bulma develops a device that will help put the Remnantians "in the zone" to let them unlock their Ki without such life-threatening actions.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation:
    • Adam Taurus is killed by Ilia, who throws back a sack full of explosives he was trying to use to destroy Haven Academy and kill the main characters, instead of his canonical death being stabbed by Blake and Yang. He also dies much earlier than canon as a result.
    • Tock died being shot through the heart by Cinder in the backstory, rather than being beheaded by Maria as in canon.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap:
    • As having the Z Fighters operating at full power would render any challenge moot, particularly for Team RWBY and their allies, the story has them use only a fraction of it in order to blend in among the locals and avoid detection by Frieza, who still has his scouter in this version. This changes somewhat when Frieza attacks at Haven, where Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan are forced to go all-out just to survive and protect their weaker allies, and Frieza's scouter ends up destroyed.
    • As he's still heavily wounded from his fight against Ginyu since his recovery in the healing pod was disrupted, Goku is unable to move upon arriving on Remnant and must expend several days resting before his Saiyan Healing Factor can give him a full recovery. This prevents him from getting involved in the major conflicts of the story for a good while.
  • Fusion Fic: The world of Remnant exists within the Dragon Ball Z universe, with Aura and Semblances revealed as types of Ki.
  • Gender Bender Angst: Ginyu goes through this sometime after stealing the Winter Maiden's body, mostly because he was originally intending to trade up for a stronger male body as the soonest possibility only to be told by Salem's group the Maidens are the strongest beings on Remnant, plus the Maiden's powers are useful to Frieza's new goals of also collecting the Relics so he can't just abandon his new body. Not helping is that powers or not, there are certain traits about this body that he's having a hard time adjusting to, such as how it's lactose intolerant, suffering from women's periods, and the fact that it's attracted to men and not women. It takes a "pep talk" with Frieza, who finds himself in the awkward position of trying to assuage Ginyu's worries without his usual threats, before Ginyu resolves to embrace his newfound female identity.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: This is how Frieza kills Neptune. Even worse, because the ki attack cauterized the wound, the victim has a few seconds to live suffering through the pain and shock before expiring, much to the heroes' horror.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Ilia throws Blake out of the way of an enraged Frieza, dying in her place.
  • Human Aliens: The main characters are baffled over the fact there's two planets inhabited by humans, despite neither Remnant nor the Earth having ever developed interstellar travel, as far as we know. Well, not in the present-day, as it turns out.
  • I Can't Sense Their Presence: Ki-sensing doesn't work on Creatures of Grimm, which is assumed to be because they are The Soulless, nor does it work on Maidens, with Krillin expressing surprise that he can't sense Raven's power despite her clearly being one of the strongest people on Remnant. Nor can they sense Ruby's energy when she's using her Silver Eyes. It's revealed this is due to all of these powers having magical and especially divine origins.
  • Invincible Villain:
    • Frieza is leagues above everybody else and can shrug off pretty much anything send his way. This is best exemplified when he takes over the City of Vacuo in less than a day.
    • Salem's Resurrective Immortality makes it impossible to truly stop her, only delay her. It's telling she's the first person who can claim to have beaten Frieza, specifically through Victory by Endurance.
  • Magic A Is Magic A: Aura and Semblances are revealed to be forms of Ki, which is divided as follow:
  • Mundane Utility: The Multiform technique, while not really practical for direct combat, is shown to have multiple others uses, such as allowing Krillin to work as a one-man contractor to pay the bills, high-level masturbation and orgy potential, and most notably letting Oscar and Ozpin work separately from each other.
  • No Body Left Behind: Ilia is exploded by Frieza to the point the only thing left of her is the rapidly fading blood vapor, much of which ends up covering Blake.
  • Outside-Context Problem:
    • From Remnant's side, no one was prepared for aliens to just pop up out of nowhere with powers capable of wiping out mountains with flicks of their wrists.
    • For the Earthlings, Saiyans, and even Frieza, magic is something almost completely out of left field due to its different properties from ki, with it serving as a great equalizer even in the face of their otherwise greater might. It's to the point ki-sensing can't detect magic at all, which can catch them off-guard. For example, Vegeta looks at Cinder and views her as having not much greater power than a Saibaman, and proceeds to insult and goad her into taking the first strike against him. A furious Cinder proceeds to unload a full magic blast of her Maiden power on him, and quite contrary to his belief he'd No-Sell it he's sent flying and screaming away in an explosion.
  • Papa Wolf: Taiyang is very protective of his daughters, especially Ruby given how much she's like Summer. He doesn't hesitate to all but lay out Qrow with a punch to the face for convincing Ruby to go to Mistral to join the fight against Salem, he blows his top at both Krillin and especially Goku for knowingly allowing Neo to hide out on the property when she had plans to kill Ruby for revenge, and he was willing to use Neo's suicide order on her for her intent at separate points to kill his daughters despite everyone else's surprise and shock at seeing Neo choke.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: The Battle of Haven. See Wham Episode below.
  • Real Men Eat Meat: Vegeta is rather insistent that if he's having a meal, it better have some form of animal life included. At one point when the gang is eating some grilled cheese sandwiches, he stalks off to find some meat. Ruby has to stop him from eating Zwei and he settles for some squirrel meat.
  • Sink or Swim Mentor:
    • While fighting a Queen Lancer, Weiss almost falls off the ship and asks Vegeta for help. She's coldly refused and told that if she can't deal with this on her own then she's unworthy of his training. He later threatens to kill her like his last partner if she ever shows that kind of "weakness" again. Weiss isn't very impressed by his attitude and retorts that's not how teams work, nor is she convinced by his belief that a leader should stand alone. Later, incensed and drawing from Ruby's own example of forcing herself to unlock her Yuu-Ki in the gravity chamber or dying, he resorts to forcing Weiss underwater and telling her to unlock her Yuu-Ki to force him off or drown in order to reach the next level of her training.
    • This was Raven's justification for not intervening when Yang "fought" Adam and lost her arm. When Raven previously saved Yang from being killed by Neo on the train, she had hoped that the loss would have served as a wake-up call for Yang to double-down on her training and correct the mistakes that led to her to being taken down (that mainly being her temper getting the better of her), but Yang didn't seem to learn anything from that fight or try to better herself. As a result, Raven resolved to not intervene against Adam in the hopes this time whatever injuries Yang took would force her to reevaluate herself, which she points out did indeed happen. When Yang brings up that Adam could have chopped off her head instead of a limb, Raven admits she's knew that was a risk but justified it to herself by claiming that she can't coddle Yang forever and "delay the inevitable" if Yang refused to learn, and at least against Adam Raven could definitely avenge her.
  • The Soulless: The Grimm possess no soul and, as stated by Gohan and Vegeta, cannot be sensed by Ki users. Instead, they're technically born from the essence of a God of Destruction, meaning most non-divine beings can't truly sense them.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Blake, Sun and Bulma manage to infiltrate the White Fang's headquarters and save Sienna Khan from Adam's coup.
  • Take Over the World: Stranded on another galaxy and too far from his empire to simply fly back, Frieza sets out to turn Remnant into another one of his "colonies" and have its inhabitants develop FTL in order to leave the planet as soon as possible.
  • Taking the Bullet: Ilia pushes Blake out of the way of Frieza's grasp, ending up caught instead and promptly exploded.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Once, there was a time that the Creatures of Grimm didn't hunt down humanity. In their original state as beings born from the essence of Destruction that took form by absorbing and possessing unfortunate wildlife that fell into the pool, they were no different from animals that just wanted to live on their own, but the sheer wrongness of their presence and appearance made them feared and hated by humanity and even other animals as demons and monsters. The tipping point was when a human woman accidentally fell into the pool and emerged, the newly-sapient Grimm struggled to properly convey its confusing feelings and ended up killing its host's father who was a king, which caused an uproar that lead to horrible attacks and insults that tipped the woman, who in the future would be known as "Salem", over the edge and through her connection with the rest of the Grimm prompted them to begin their genocidal campaign against humanity.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Vegeta, as usual and especially considering this is still him in during the Frieza Saga. He may have formed an alliance with the Z Fighters and taken Weiss as his apprentice (and by extension allying himself with her friends), but he's still the same egotistical, merciless warrior who's only in it for himself, mainly working with them because Frieza is just that much worse and too powerful for him to beat alone.
  • Victory by Endurance: In Chapter 17, Salem takes a page out of Doctor Strange's book and uses her powers to trap Frieza in her realm. She then allows Frieza to attack her and uses her Complete Immortality to No-Sell everything he tries to throw at her. After Frieza's had enough, she threatens to keep him imprisoned within her realm until he starves to death unless he accepts her proposal for a Villain Team-Up. Frieza acquiesces and begrudgingly compliments her as a Worthy Opponent.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: An example of a villain being interested in another villain. Frieza finds himself growing rather intrigued by Cinder, particularly her drive to grow stronger, her desire to dominate, and her burning passion for revenge, as it all rather reminds him of himself in a way and more importantly qualities he rather likes among his minions.
  • We Can Rule Together: Raven really wants Yang to join the Branwen Tribe as her heir, partially because she sees how strong she is, and partially because what buried maternal instincts she still has don't want to see Yang go off and die fighting a Hopeless War against the Grimm and Salem. This gets under Vernal's skin, who is envious of Raven's obvious affection for Yang and annoyed at Yang's unwillingness to actually take it.
  • We Have Become Complacent: Vegeta theorizes that this is the reason why the people of Remnant have never been able to awaken Yuu-Ki. While the threat of the Grimm persists in the present day, several factors such as the advent of new technologies (particularly that of weapons), the discovery and application of Dust, and, unknowingly to most people, protection from the Maidens have all allowed humanity to prosper and to more easily deal with their ancient enemy. It also created a "standard" for Huntsmen and Huntresses that led to their abilities stagnating and to them never unlocking or even realizing about the full extent of their Ki.
  • Wham Episode: Chapter 14: Right after the main characters have scored a decisive victory against Salem's forces, Frieza shows up and proceeds to murder multiple characters (see Death by Adaptation above), wreck what little was left of Haven Academy, and turn the entire City of Haven into a smoldering crater, killing thousands. The only consolation is that Frieza's scouter has been destroyed (meaning no more holding back for the Z Fighters) and the Relic of Knowledge secured.
  • Wham Line: Dende's wish to Porunga, when translated from Icelandic (see Bilingual Bonus above), heavily implies that Remnant is the homeplanet of all humans, including those on Earth:
Dende: I wish they would all go back to the place the humans came from!
  • Wham Shot:
    • The end of chapter 5 reveals that Ginyu (still in the body of a frog) has also been transported to Remnant and he ends up crossing paths with the Winter Maiden. He then steals her body by taking advantage of her ability to understand animals, and proceeds to kill her and inherit her Maiden's power, as the suddenness and strangeness of it all made it impossible for her to think of someone other than the Body Snatcher before dying.
    • At the end of Chapter 13 and just as the lengthy battle for the Relic of Knowledge seems over, Frieza shows up at Haven Academy.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Frieza mangles Crescent Rose at Haven when Ruby tries to use it to stop him from killing Sun to the point it's more or less useless as a weapon. Luckily for her, she's able to get it reforged later on.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: After an epic struggle to save Haven Academy from the White Fang's bombing attempt and stop Cinder and company from getting their hands on the Relic of Knowledge, complete with several characters getting heroic moments, Frieza shows up ready to murder Vegeta, Gohan and Krillin for getting him stranded on Remnant, and the resulting clash sees multiple named characters dead, the disarmed bombs triggering anyway from the shockwaves of Frieza and Vegeta's fighting that, coupled with some prior sabotage by Watts, causes half of the city to fall off the mountain, and finally Frieza himself blasting what's left of the greatest city of the Kingdom of Mistral to dust as a Cruel Mercy for "sparing" the remaining heroes' lives.
