Transformers RWBY: The Flames Of Redemption
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Starscream in Transformers: Prime would later become one of the loyal and pragmatic Decepticons despite his constant treachery. Here, he's more in line with his vengeful Robots in Disguise(2015) version with the grudge he has against his former boss Megatron.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Megatron slices off his own left arm to better understand Yang's predicament after Adam Taurus took her arm. He gets a cybernetic limb courtesy of Atlas to replace that arm.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Soundwave is this given his status in Transformers canon. Virtually silent? Check. Deadly combatant? You bet. Dreadwing even references Knock Out's quote regarding him after witnessing Soundwave tear apart Whitley with his brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
Dreadwing: Watch out for the quiet ones... They're the ones that speak the loudest when they want to.
  • Badass Longcoat: Megatron's new outfit courtesy of Atlas gives him this as part of his wardrobe
  • Berserk Button: Megatron hates it when anyone mentions anything about making him a slave thanks to his own experiences as a slave in the Pits of Kaon and a thrall to Unicron, as Yang found out.
  • Beyond Redemption: While Megatron may believe himself to be beyond redemption thanks to his past sins, that doesn't stop himself from striving to be a better person.
  • BFG: Megatron's armor-mounted fusion cannon qualifies as one, and his Semblance allows him to summon even larger cannons out of thin air.
  • Black Knight: Played With; while Dreadwing has the aesthetic, personality-wise, he is still as honorable as he was in Transformers: Prime.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Ruby and Soundwave have this dynamic within the story.
  • Continuity Nod: Megatron quotes his old friend and enemy Optimus Prime in his fight against Harriet of the Ace Ops.
Megatron: One shall stand. One shall fall.
  • Covered in Scars: Megatron's body is pretty much covered with all the scars he got from his past battles.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Jacques Schnee is just as greedy as he was in canon, always speaking up against Ironwood's proposed policied just because they could hurt his profits. This comes back to bite him in the ass when it is revealed that he had unwittingly shared sensitive information with Arthur Watts, who is in the employ of Salem.
  • Dare to Be Badass: Megatron encourages Oscar Pine to not give up and help the others save Remnant as himself after finding him when he runs off out of fear of being assimilated by Ozpin's consciousness.
Megatron: I understand what it is like. To have your body taken from you, to have your soul overpowered by another. I felt the that same sense of hopelessness when Unicron had taken control of my body and forced my spark to endure unending suffering. But, thanks to the help of an old friend, and I learned much from that experience. Oscar, you are right to be afraid about losing yourself. It truly is a terrifying thing. But... let me ask you: you said that you wanted to help; is that right?
Oscar: What? Well... yes, I want to help, but-,
Megatron: Then do exactly that. If you run now, then you will regret it for the rest of your life. But, though you will one day merge with Ozpin's soul and become him, that day has not yet come to pass. It may come tomorrow, it may come in a year, but until that day comes, you are still you. You are still Oscar Pine. Ozpin is not in control; you are. So I ask you, Oscar Pine: what will you do now?
  • Didn't See That Coming: Nobody expected Penny, of all people, to gain the power of the Winter Maiden after its previous holder Fria died from her old age and a dagger wound from Cinder.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Adam Taurus is shot in the heart by Blake when he attempts to launch a surprise attack on Predaking instead of being impaled with Gambol Shroud.
  • Dramatic Unmask: The masked man reveals himself to be Megatronus Prime, who's none other than the Fallen, in chapter 82.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Penny is cured of the virus implanted in her by Watts thanks to Shockwave's technological expertise, averting her transformation into a human.
  • Good All Along: Shockwave reveals himself as Optimus Prime's Double Agent within Salem's forces at the Atlas council meeting, exposing Jacques Schnee's dealings with traitorous Atlesian scientist Arthur Watts and apprehending the Corrupt Corporate Executive when Jacques attempts to flee.
  • Good is Not Nice: Megatron starts off as headstrong and brusque as he was before he warms up to his comrades over time.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: It is implied that the one who sent the malevolvent Cybertronians to Remnant is none other than Unicron, if the mysterious voice is anything to go by. Thunderwing's appearance and statement of Unicron's plan to use Remnant as his new body confirms that Unicron is indeed here and up to no good.
  • Heroic RRoD: Nora overcharges her Semblance in order to break down the door to the military compound's hangar to help her allies escape after they get the info they need from the compound's database, knocking her out of commission and forcing Ruby's group to head back to the Schnee estate to heal her wounds.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Soundwave takes a hit for Ruby from Neo in Chapter 82 and is knocked into the Spacebridge portal they set up in Atlas Academy.
  • Humanity Ensues: A given for all the Cybertronians that ended up on Remnant
  • Innocently Insensitive: When Yang complains about her problems to Megatron, he offhandedly remarks that a missing limb isn't the biggest of his concerns. Yang does not take this well given that she lost her arm to Adam Taurus during the fall of Beacon.
  • Lady and Knight: Dreadwing and Weiss have this dynamic considering how Dreadwing has appointed himself as Weiss' protector.
  • Macho Masochism: Megatron decides to slice off his own arm and cauterizing the stump by himself in an attempt to understand Yang's feelings on losing her arm, never mind that he sliced off his own arm to graft the arm of a Prime onto himself to use the Forge of Solus Prime back when he was a Decepticon. He also refuses anesthetics for the procedure to attach his new cybernetic arm when the team reaches Atlas.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: Soundwave's Semblance manifests in the form of sonic blasts emitted from his mouth capable of stunning friend and foe alike. The armor he gets in Atlas remedies the friendly fire part of his ability by providing him with a means to focus his sonic shouts.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Everyone has this reaction when Salem appears at the head of a massive Grimm armada en route to Atlas. It shows up again when the Grimm are using the river flowing into Atlas to infiltrate the kingdom.
  • Mythology Gag: The following exchange when the team run into the Leviathan Grimm references Megatron's exchange with Breakdown in Transformers: War for Cybertron back when Megatron, Breakdown, and Soundwave were navigating Cybertron's subway systems.
Dreadwing: This planet certainly has more familiarities from Cybertron than what meets the eye. Such as the one who you used as an orbital gun over Cybertron.
Nora: Please tell me you're kidding...
Megatron: No, the Decepticons did indeed have a soldier that was about the same size and similar shape as the Grimm. It certainly does remind me of the Titan Trypticon. That is, before he failed his mission and I had to use his chassis as my personal flagship, the Nemesis.
Jaune: Megatron... Please tell me you're joking...
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: As skilled as Atlas' Ace Ops is, they can't hold a candle to the ex-Decepticons given that they have eons of combat experience under their belt, and as such are defeated by Megatron, Predaking, Soundwave, and Dreadwing in short order.
  • Redemption Rejection: When Predaking forgives Adam Taurus for his actions and tries to help him let go of his hate, Adam angrily rejects his offer and attempts to kill him twice before Blake shoots him.
  • Self-Imposed Exile: Megatron exiled himself from Cybertron to atone for everything he did as the leader of the Decepticons before he arrived on Remnant.
  • Ship Tease: Plenty between each member of Team RWBY and the Cybertronian they are respectively paired with.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Penny manages to escape to Vacuo alongside Teams RWBY and JNPR after they evacuate all of Mantle's citizens.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Laserbeak gains the ability to speak after Ruby unlocking his Aura, whereas he only communicated in screeches and avian vocalizations before.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Dreadwing and Predaking are understandably leery about having to work alongside Megatron given their respective histories with the former warlord. They later grow to fully trust Megatron and become Fire-Forged Friends in the process.
  • That Man Is Dead: When Raven Branwen attempts to recruit Megatron into her bandit tribe, Megatron states that he refuses to return into being the tyrant he was. Raven is not amused by Megs' response.
  • The Stoic: Soundwave and Shockwave fit the bill.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
Soundwave: YOU... Don't know... HIDDEN HERE... as if you're special... NO ONE... is... DISPOSABLE... I... FIGHT FOR OTHERS... to... HELP OTHERS... FOR... them... FIGHT... instead of... LOWER... YOURSELF... to... THROWN YOUR LIFE... for... PATHETIC REASON AS... you think... TRUE POWER... is... how you live... or your caste... alone. The only... ANIMAL... I see... before me... is you... Alone... in a hollow place that you inherited instead of making for yourself. If you truly see this as the height of your so-called power... (draws wrist blade and approaches Whitley) Then you truly are... PITIFUL...
    • Megatronus gives Cinder one on her incompetence and entitled behavior, flat-out telling her that unless she stops throwing tantrums over not getting what she wants, she's only got herself to blame if someone puts her six feet under.
Megatronus: You think that just because you suffered, you can have whatever it is that you want. But for one thing: suffering alone does not equal entitlement. And for another: your suffering is nothing compared to mine. I will endure whatever pain I must if it means being reunited with Solus again. I learned that strength alone does not decide a war. Cunning is just as important. And it's not just about what you deserve; it's about proving yourself worthy. But, as long as you continue these little failures of yours due to your shortsightedness and inability to look at the bigger picture, the only thing you'll be worthy of is a cold, empty grave, where no one will mourn you.
  • Trapped in Another World: Chapter 84 reveals that Team RWBY and their Cybertronian partners have ended up in the world of Transformers: Prime, which is currently going through the events of Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015).
  • Undying Loyalty: Dreadwing is loyal towards Weiss Schnee and is willing to protect her with his own life.
  • Villain Team-Up: Neopolitan allies herself with Steeljaw's pack in their hunt for Team RWBY after the residents of Remnant are teleported to Earth.
  • Walking Arsenal: Megatron's Semblance allows him to access all the weapons he used as a thrall to Unicron, making him qualify as this.
  • What Is This Feeling?: Megatron is not completely used to having human emotions given that he was a literal alien robotic warlord hell-bent on conquest, so he is understandably ambivalent about them. The same applies for Predaking.

Transformers RWBY: The Light Of Hope
  • A Day in the Limelight: The Light of Hope primarily focuses on Dreadwing and Predaking as they run into Weiss and Blake respectively before they meet up with Yang and Megatron
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Prima, despite being one of the 13 Primes, was racist towards Predacons and refused to aid them even when they were facing extinction, if Predaking's memories of his namesake ancestor are anything to go by.
  • Cliffhanger: Both storylines end with the moment that each pair meets Yang and Megatron in The Flames of Redemption.
  • Dragon Knight: Predaking is a dragon Faunus and is unfailingly chivalrous, polite, and honorable, making him fit this trope to a T. Overlaps with Proud Warrior Race Guy and Warrior Prince after he is crowned the new leader of the White Fang.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: When Predaking rejects Adam Taurus' offer to join the White Fang, Adam mistakes him for a bioweapon made by humans to be used against the Faunus when he states that he did not aid the human that created him.
  • Hate at First Sight: Dreadwing immediately dislikes the Atlesian upper class because they remind him too much of the Cybertronian upper classes in their vapidity and selfishness.
  • Heel–Face Turn: The Corsac brothers defect to Predaking's side after they are defeated.
  • Honor Before Reason: Predaking attempts to commit suicide after accidentally running into Blake while she was in the bathroom even though it was completely unintentional on his part. Blake manages to talk him out of it.
  • Meaningful Name: Dreadwing's alias of "Dreadwing Seeker" is a thinly-veiled allusion to his past as a member of the Decepticon's Seekers.
  • No True Scotsman: Adam views Predaking as a man-made anti-Faunus bioweapon after he misunderstands Predaking when the former Cybertronian rejects Adam's offer to join the White Fang. This leads to him attempting to tarnish Predaking's reputation among the residents of Menagerie alongside the Corsac brothers by portraying him as a "false Faunus".
  • Pretender Diss: Ilia and Adam refer to Predaking as a "weapon" and "false faunus" after inadvertently learning of Predaking's heritage as a clone. Ilia manages to grow out of it over time.
  • SummonMagic: Dreadwing's semblance allows him to temporarily summon the soul of his deceased twin brother Skyquake from Unicron's Anti-Spark to aid him in battle.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Dreadwing gives one towards all the visitors to the SDC charity event within the Schnee estate in response to a insensitive and demeaning comment that a Rich Bitch female partygoer gives regarding the Fall of Beacon and Weiss' subsequent outburst in response.
'Dreadwing: What gave any of you the right to think you are better than others?! Your heartlessness and arrogance is so damaging that it made a young woman who watched innocent people and friends perish during the Fall of Beacon lash out at your selfishness instead of showing more support to her and the lives lost! In my eyes, she is the only one who deserves to be where she is, not any of you!
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: Dreadwing still retains the chest wound he received from Megatron, necessitating a special implant from Atlas to keep it sealed with Dreadwing's aura lest he bleed out and die.
