- Khaos Omega uses this prominently by sending someone (usually the titular Amethyst Angel, a modified version of Galaxy Angel II's Anise Azeat) to another game's world. With a massive dose of multiverse theory on top of it, and a faction of immortal multiverse-traveling crime fighters (of whom the aforementioned Amethyst Angel is a high-ranking member, and founded by six siblings (five of whom are based on real-life people Khaos knows including third-oldest Jet being based on Khaos himself), things can go crazy insanely fast.]
- Some of Khaos' stories even include characters created by other authors, including two Christmas-themed stories that guest-star the heroes of two other Galaxy Angel fanfictions (one of which inspired Khaos' own version behind the creation of Jace Davies, along with a What If?-style one for Marty Jordan's origins), and a planned sequel to a Mario story that notably includes a pitch-black OC Boo (named Dark Moonlight) from the original.
- Some of Khaos' characters have also gone the other way:
- The sequel to the What-Ifs (this one involving Kazuya and the Rune Angels while continuing to honor the original's variances in terms of who Arnold and Tact are in relationships within each parallel universe) sees Amethyst herself appear (suggested by Khaos himself for the chapter that would become Natsume's route for Kazuya as a way to avoid the Cross Dresser episode). Amethyst was identified as a Khaos character by the other author whose lead OC prominently appeared in Khaos' Christmas special (and one of his works, along with the Natsume-eventually route of the What-Ifs, are mentioned specifically as to how Arnold Williams (the lead OC of the author behind Khaos creating Jace Davies and Marty Jordan) and William Johnson (the lead OC of the author who identified Amethyst as Khaos') made it to the Christmas party).
- Three works by former author "Witchan" featured Khaos' characters (Jet and Amethyst, plus Taylor 'Thundrana' Johnson and Georgia Millar, appear in a Mario Kart story that Khaos still references often (usually in tandem with Khaos' own sequel); Jet and Amethyst, alongside Rochelle, appear in the inspiration of a story series since fused with another author's own similarly-themed Pokemon stories (three, in particular, follow eventual Rainbow Angels Rosa Copeland, Roxanne Mazaki, and Jasmine Levesque as prostitutes though Jasmine goes out of her way to hide her being one); and Rochelle herself appears in a third where a tech malfunction by overloading leads to Rochelle creating an upgraded variant of the tech in question).
- The Mario story mentioned above, where Roy hosts a party while Bowser's out (Wendy opts out and is the one to inform the co-conspirators of a fatal flaw in how Roy got the majority of the stuff), sees Jet appear as the referee of a hardcore game of dodgeball won by the aforementioned Dark Moonlight.
- Speaking of Jet, the Koopalings (minus an uninvolved Junior and under their cartoon names), and Dark Moonlight, a prank war-themed story (also with Wendy opting out) has Jet, alongside his eldest sister Hollie and Rochelle, appear as a wild-card third 'Cyan' team; Dark Moonlight, a member of one of the two starting teams (Red, which he joined partway through), recognizes Jet by the alternate name 'Ace Skyfire'. The author of the prank war story also provided a character (Rose) to the Roy-hosted party story (Rose, Jet, and Dark Moonlight are the only three members of the first wave of 131 who do not take off immediately).

However, thanks to the interdimensional meddling of Elune's elf Chosen One and Sargeras' new lieutenant (also an elf), plus the fact there are elves in both dimensions, now Magix and Azeroth have met. Or, rather, Bloom (now Eraklyon's queen) gets suddenly stripped out from the planet while investigating a rare disease (a new Undead Plague, workings of the Burning Legion elf) that has killed thousands of citizens. And she appears in Sin'dorei territory, gets to meet Sylvanas Windrunner and Elune's Chosen One. - Shinji And Warhammer 40 K is sort of an odd example. It is not a story where the universes meet, being more of a For Want of a Nail story about Shinji getting a large amount of Warhammer 40,000 pieces and rulebooks as a child. His different (happier) childhood makes for a more dynamic protagonist and leads him to influence the rest of the cast into making things that fit the 40K ethos more than the original Evangelion series did. It's not the straightest example of a universe-to-universe crossover.
- In the Skyhold Academy Yearbook series, I Must Be Going manages to be both this trope and Self-Insert Fic. It's a crossover from the reader's point of view, being a merging of Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Princess Bride. Uncommonly for the genre, it is an amalgamation of the two universes (the characters from Bungo Stray Dogs follow the laws of the Madoka Magica universe) and the characters of the franchises don't meet eachother. The endnote implies that it is part of a larger crossover universe.
- Portalborn
is actually inspired by the Portal 2 Mod for Skyrim. In starts off using the original elements of Fall of the Space Core after pitting The Dragonborn with the weird and cooky Doug Rattmann. It gets crazy, then evolves with a mysterious and adventurous plot.
- Raquaza Master's Pokemon Squad
fanfics are supposed to combine the characters from Pokémon, KaBlam!!, Barney & Friends (Barney is going to be one of the main antagonists), Danny Phantom, Animaniacs, Sesame Street (Elmo's going to be an upcoming villain), many video games, and much, much more.
- Seanzilla115's Multi crossover stadium
, This Fanfiction community contains some of the greatest crossover stories by the greatist authors Fanfiction.Net has to offer.
- Takamachi Nanoha of 2814
is a Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Crossover with Green Lantern. Then, it started to cross over with everything by chapter 3. Written by the almost infamous Shadow Crystal Mage, so you know it's good. Now with its own page.
- To Kill A Thief
is Phantom Thief Jeanne meets Death Note.
- This fanfic
is a shared universe for the Transformers and Marvel characters. as of 2013 a standalone Marvel and an official crossover story are yet to be written, but there are plans to do so.
- These two
videos
make a sort of crossover between Lucky Star and Haruhi Suzumiya.
- While not a Fanfic, this Youtube user
makes videos which present "what if" situations dealing with television logos, which also includes gems like "What if Steven Bochco collaborated with 4K!ds Entertainment?"
.
- Due to the increased popularity of One Piece: A Smash Adventure, other users have attempted to make similar crossovers based on this. Most notable is Game2002
who basically took the same concept, this time with Touhou characters. His crossover, Touhou: Journey to the Smashing Beyond
was also a huge hit among fans.
- Operation Epic Beer Run
and And Miles To Go Before I Sleep
cross The Martian with the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Dr. Beck being one of Bucky Barnes's descendants.
Common Crossovers
- In Anime fanfiction (and sometimes in other media), a quite common way to establish a plot, especially in Peggy Sue fics, is to have a wish be granted by Belldandy or her sisters. Whether this crossover is minor or major varies between fics.
- The Avengers crossed with The Hunger Games has some surprisingly good crossovers, including the heartbreaking Embrace the Fire
and the less heartbreaking Something To Avenge
.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer has a natural crossover point in the second season episode "Halloween", in which the main characters turn into their costumes for the night. The portal Buffy jumps through in the Fifth Season finale also provides a great opportunity for Buffy to visit some other show or story, as does the presence of Reality-Warping vengeance demons.
- CatDog has even been crossed over with the anime Love Live! School Idol Project of all things on DeviantArt. Dog and Honoka Kousaka as friends, anyone?
- A favourite for many seems to be Doctor Who, due to the remarkable ease with which the Doctor can be inserted in any story just by having the TARDIS land there.
- The first well-known example is 1981's "The Doctor and the Enterprise" by Jean Airey, which crosses Doctor Who and Star Trek: The Original Series, when the Fourth Doctor's TARDIS materializes in the transporter room of the USS Enterprise on her way home at the end of her Five Year Mission.
- One of the most famous, The Man with No Name, is a Firefly / Doctor Who'' crossover, which some say should be officially added to Canon.
- Yet it VERY strangely lists one of the unofficial rules of the internet dealing with crossovers (specifically, rule ⑨
- There's also A Hero, a crossover with Puella Magi Madoka Magica which subverts most Doctor Who crossover formulas by instead inserting Dalek Sec to fix the mess.
- Another crossover that's become increasingly popular is Superwho, which combines Doctor Who with Supernatural.
- Add one more show, Sherlock, to get Superwholock, which has become quite popular on Tumblr.
- All it took was one scene where a pony had a David Tennant-like hairstyle and an hourglass on his quarter. The result is that under crossovers at FanFiction.Net, Doctor Who is the most popular thing to cross into the world of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, beating out Sonic the Hedgehog.
- Children of Time crosses Ten's era with Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century. Holmes and Watson take Martha Jones' place in Season 3 as Companions, with just a handful of episodes staying close to the original. The Eleventh Doctor is planned to make an appearance eventually...
- The Dresden Files has a lot of crossovers, including a rare crossover with Buffy that doesn't involve its "Halloween" episode. Higher Stakes: A Fanfiction of the Dresden Files
is complete. It contains spoilers for Changes and the Buffy Season 8 comics, replaces everything after Changes, and after the Buffy'' comics arc "Time of Your Life".
- Everything Is Broken is about Happy Tree Friends characters playing My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic creepypasta games that come to live and attack them.
- Gabriel Blessing
is well known for his two Fate/stay night crossovers:
- The Hill of Swords, a The Familiar of Zero crossover wherein Louise summons Shirou as her familiar. This Fan Fic revived the whole concept of "Let's have Louise summon a different person than Saito !"
- In Flight, a Sekirei crossover where Shirou discovers his Not Quite Dead mother, Takami Sahashi, and replaces Minato as the Ashikabi of the North.
- Fanfic-wise, it's almost impossible to find a fandom that doesn't have a crossover with Harry Potter.
- There are crossovers of The Land Before Time with Star Wars, Eragon, Mega Man, and, in one case, Halo. Amazingly, many find that the Star Wars/Land Before time crossover in question is actually good.
- Found the cross between Harry Potter and The Land Before Time!
- "Voldemort has found a way to go back thousands of years, to the time of the great dinosaurs"? That's not a promising opening line. There's even a Land Before Time MassiveMultiplayerCrossover series on FanFiction.net.
- Found the cross between Harry Potter and The Land Before Time!
- There is a really good one between Harry Potter and Final Fantasy VIII that starts when Harry, age 5, is magically transported to the world of FF8 and once there he becomes a fine Gunblade fighter and is somehow able to use FF8 magic and do everything one can in the game... without using Guardian Forces. He later has to go back to his own world, where an evil Dumbledore lays in waiting... See here for the prequel+ Philosopher's Stone
arc, here for the Chamber of Secrets
arc and here for the Prisoner of Azkaban
arc. It's a pity that the third arc is not finished...
- There's a small collection of Calvin and Hobbes/Harry Potter crossovers, all involving Calvin being a wizard. Give em a look.
This one is particularly good so far.
- Harry Potter in The Princess Bride. Hermione dreams the people she knows into the plot of the movie, with herself in the role of the Grandson being read the book by Dumbledore. No, really!
- One involved the plot of Pretty Little Liars being re-imagined in the Potter universe. Unlike most other crossovers, the characters of both series don't actually meet. Here it is
- Since both Harry and Edward Elric are looking for the Philosopher's Stone at some point, there's a lot of crossover fanfiction with Fullmetal Alchemist.
- Snakeskins is, without a doubt, one of the best fanfics in the whole crossover with Hetalia: Axis Powers fandom, in which the two universes are blended amazingly and England and Italy are still their immortal Nation-tan selves while they're at Hogwarts. It... sounds kinda confusing, but it's a lot simpler in context.
- Harry Potter Becomes a Communist does some crossovers with other Harry Potter fanfics. This consists of, to date, brief appearances by the Professor Quirrell from Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way from My Immortal, and Rhysenn Malfoy from The Draco Trilogy.
- There are crossovers of The Land Before Time with Star Wars, Eragon, Mega Man, and, in one case, Halo. Amazingly, many find that the Star Wars/Land Before time crossover in question is actually good.
- Highlander. You can dump Duncan or Connor or any of the other Immortals in almost any historical period; or assume, for a series set today that this or that character is Immortal; or for series set in the future, assume that someone from a 20th/21st C. series was a Highlander and hadn't lost his/her head before then. Of all the methods that Law & Order: UK fanfic writers used to revive the murdered DS Matt Devlin, revealing that he was an Immortal—as well as technically crossing over with another series in the story Declassified
by revealing that he was also Archie Kennedy—might have been the most creative.
- There are a lot of fan arts involving Kaa the Snake hypnotizing various victims. Google search "Kaa" and you'll see what the deal is.
- Two Law & Order: UK fanfics:
- One that crosses over with Highlander and Horatio Hornblower has Matt Devlin recovering from the bullet wounds he sustained and explaining to a stunned Alesha and Ronnie that he's immortal and is really Archie Kennedy of the latter series (also probably lampshading Jamie Bamber's Chronically Killed Actor status).
- Another sent Matt and Ronnie to Washington, DC to work with the NCIS team. Rather amusing considering that a) Jamie Bamber eventually began a recurring role on the show, and b) the team actually did work with British Coppers at one point.
- 4 crossovers with Looney Tunes and Winx Club have been done by looneywriter
and kidswbyungsta
. Sure enough, keeping in with the Looney Tunes style of humor, as well as adding characters from Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, and Pinky and the Brain may have helped them grow to be loved by many on FanFiction.Net.
- One author has crossed over Megas XLR with Harry Potter
, Lilo & Stitch
and Phineas & Ferb
, crossed over Phineas & Ferb with Super Sentai
and Kamen Rider
, and then combined all the previous into a Mega Crossover
.
- One of the mst prevalent type of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan fics and fan works in general. The most regular kinds are those such as Better Living Through Science and Ponies (Portal) and Turnabout Storm (Ace Attorney), where another series' characters are transported to Equestria, sometimes turning into ponies in the process, and Fusion Fics such as Fallout: Equestria (guess) and Friends of a Solar Empire (Sins of a Solar Empire).
- Another example is The Little Pony Legend, crossing over Friendship is Magic with The Legend of Korra. It's also something of a self-insert fic, as the ponies are "inserted" into Korra's plot and vice versa over the course of the seven fics present.
- It's easier to count the things that Naruto hasn't had crossovers with when it's had crossovers with The Boondocks, Duke Nukem, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Mean Girls, Godzilla, Friday the 13th and probably the strangest with Married... with Children.
- There are a few fics that cross over all the Nicktoons. One that does this along with extreme AU along with Alternate History (Vlad is now king of an Fictional Counterpart of America!) would be Chess Piece
by Neo Yi. It's filled with tons of continuity nods and has everything, from The Wild Thornberrys, Invader Zim, and Dora the Explorer to Doug, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, CatDog, and My Life as a Teenage Robot. Seriously; it is also awesome.
- Decent Pokemon/Digimon crossovers
are not that common in fanfiction, but of late some interesting new submissions have popped up.
- The Ranma ½ fandom loves to create crossovers. There exist several archives devoted to them. Particularly common are crossovers with Sailor Moon which has a sub-genre called the Fuku Fic that can involve this type of crossover, but primarily involves Ranma in a Sailor Fuku.
- Due to their popularity, it's very easy to find on deviantArt crossovers involving The Runaway Guys, mostly by ThatOneNPC. The guys have crossed over with such works as The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Portal 2, Slender, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (no really
), to name a few.
- Each of the guys themselves has been subject to individual crossover fanart. For instance, here
is fanart crossing over Chuggaaconroy with Professor Layton. (Chugga liked it, by the way.)
- Each of the guys themselves has been subject to individual crossover fanart. For instance, here
- Is there anyone Sonic the Hedgehog hasn't met yet? The blue hedgehog has had crossovers with Percy Jackson
, Godzilla
, Transformers
, Halo
, iCarly
, Gorillaz
, the Mighty Ducks
, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Strawberry Shortcake
and Tinkerbell
. Are any of these even remotely connected?
- But we all know who the big winner is...
- This
fanfiction crosses over Sonic the Hedgehog with the cast of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, in a reimagining of the plot of Sonic Generations. It goes far beyond what the original game gives, showing the author did their research. For instance, Ponyville serves as the central hub, similar to the White Void in the game, the Death Egg Robot battle in the original is replaced with Nightmare Moon and in this fanfiction, Tails fights Metal Sonic instead of Sonic, possibly a reference to Sonic the Hedgehog 4. The author has even adapted the updated canon of Friendship is Magic into the fanfic. However, how the author intends to implement alicorn Twilight is currently unknown.
- Sonic Mania & Hatsune Miku: A very well-done Game Mod of Sonic Mania that replaces the titular character with Hatsune Miku wearing a Sonic parka, amongst a few other things.
- It's crazy just how many crossovers on FanFiction.Net exist between Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros.. Sure, this may have become canon but authors were doing it way before then.
- But we all know who the big winner is...
- Spider-Man has a slew of crossovers on FanFiction.Net. This one
crossed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and this one
crossed with House are quite good.
- An author on FFnet has created a crossover
between Star Wars and Halo where the characters of Star Wars: Republic Commando (and some friends and enemies) meet Master Chief and company in the Halo universe. There is a sequel that takes place mostly in the Star Wars universe during the events of the Original Trilogy.
- Star Wars and Star Trek. The rivalry between their fanbases and The The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny makes it a bygone conclusion feature some, and for those to require at least one major battle between the United Federation of Planets and the Galactic Empire, but there are certain exceptions.
- Another good one is Unity
by notable contributor SF Debris. What is a wormhole was connected from the Delta Quadrant circa Voyager's fifth season to the Star Wars Universe circa early Return of The Jedi, (disrupting the Rebel Alliance's attempt to attack the second Death Star.) Involved every character from TNG forward-moving well into the future and exploring all the potential interactions in detail.
- To complete the trifecta of renowned Star Wars vs. Star Trek fanfics, there's StarCrossed
.
- Another good one is Unity
- At least 300 crossovers of Total Drama are available on fanfiction.net
- One writer
has written the aptly named "Total Crossover" series. They are currently working on 3 installments at the same time. The scenes with Jimmy Neutron border on Revenge Fic.
- One writer
- Rule ⑨: If it exists, there is a crossover with Touhou Project. The series even has its own article.
- One author has even crossed over (at various times) Transformers with Knight Rider
, The Real Ghostbusters
, Masters of the Universe, Sailor
Moon
, Inuyasha
, and Judge Judy
.
- Likewise, you will be able to find crossovers between Twilight and just about anything
- Not many Crossover fics have managed to be as awesome as Sherlock Holmes vs Edward Cullen
.
- Not many Crossover fics have managed to be as awesome as Sherlock Holmes vs Edward Cullen
- The longtime crossover champion for TV shows is The Witness by Michele Martin, which managed to cross Forever Knight, Highlander, The X-Files, Quantum Leap, and the Starman TV series. Believe it or not, the fic manages to keep all those balls in the air successfully, and even bring in cameos from a few other series, all while following a coherent plot and keeping the characters in character!
- Solo Endeavors
is a crossover between Super Smash Bros., Persona 5, and Punch-Out!!, focused on Jackie, a member of the band Monsta X, going to Tokyo.
