* AteHisGun: One of the Vacuo Minutemen who's been reassigned to the "trials" (read, public firing squad executions) of fellow Vacuo citizens eventually can't take it anymore and turns his gun on himself. [[LackOfEmpathy Frieza]] simply tells someone nearby to add his surname to "the list", implicitly so that any family members can be punished in turn for his "dereliction of duty".
* BaitTheDog: As Frieza's rage threatens to hit boiling point when he realizes that Remnant is in an entirely separate ''galaxy'' from the greater part of his space empire, he suddenly seems to calm down and politely, even jovially, interacts with a little Vacuo girl who innocently asks him to show her parents mercy for apparent crimes [[spoiler:that would lead to execution]] and telling him that being angry doesn't mean you need to be mean to other people. Frieza compliments her on her innocent loyalty and promises that he'll lift her from her woes. [[spoiler:He then swiftly kills her with a blow to the chest such that she doesn't even register it happened before dying, and then allows the girl's grieving and furious mother to leave as a CruelMercy.]]

* AdaptationalAbomination: [[spoiler:Salem canonically WasOnceAMan who was cursed with immortality and tried to escape it by jumping into the Pool of Destruction, being warped by it into her current state. Here, "Salem" is a Grimm who gained sentience after a human woman fell into a pool of Destruction and was subsequently possessed, starting life as confused and impressionable before the woman's family and fiancé treated her with fear and hatred [[ThenLetMeBeEvil which kickstarted the entire Grimm hivemind into their war on mankind]]. Salem wasn't even her original name until Ozpin's first incarnation named her, and she needs to periodically [[PossessionBurnout take new bodies to replace the failing ones]].]]

** [[spoiler:Salem and Ozpin/Ozma]] have a much less intimate past relationship than canon. [[spoiler:Whereas canonically they were married lovers whose love was torn apart by their circumstances and failings into bitter enemies fighting for the world's fate, here that never happened. Salem instead is a [[AdaptationalAbomination Grimm who gained sentience from possessing a human woman]] that existed long before the cataclysm that destroyed Remnant, while Ozpin was born after the cataclysm and his original incarnation was the wizard (who was incidentially [[LastOfHisKind one of the last who could still use magic]]) who bestowed his magic on the original Four Maidens. Salem came to him after that seeking to fool him into undoing the magical seal keeping the Four Relics locked away from her grip, and in the struggle that followed after he did so and she fatally wounded him he managed to take the Relics away (and gaining his curse of ResurrectiveImmortality in the process of touching the divine objects) and hide them before he succumbed to injury and revived for the first time, starting his eternal mission of keeping the Relics safe.]]
* AdaptationalRomanceDowngrade:
** [[spoiler:As part of Vegeta and Raven, Tai and Bulma, Blake and Sun, and Yang and Krillin starting relationships of varying degrees of seriousness, the canonical couplings of Vegeta/Bulma, Blake/Yang, and (possibly) Krillin/Android 18 haven't developed or at least will develop in a much different way.]]
** A big part of the change to the backstory of the FusionFic is that [[spoiler:Ozpin/Ozma and Salem were ''not'' married at all. In fact, Salem was [[AdaptationalAbomination never even human]] and existed long before Ozpin, whose original first incarnation was the wizard from the tale of the Four Maidens.]]

Added DiffLines:

* ThenLetMeBeEvil: Once, there was a time that the Creatures of Grimm didn't hunt down humanity. [[spoiler:In their original state as beings born from the essence of Destruction that took form by absorbing and possessing unfortunate wildlife that fell into the pool, they were no different from animals that just wanted to live on their own, but the sheer ''wrongness'' of their presence and appearance made them feared and hated by humanity and even other animals as demons and monsters. The tipping point was when a human woman accidentally fell into the pool and emerged, the newly-sapient Grimm struggled to properly convey its confusing feelings and ended up killing its host's father who was a king, which caused an uproar that lead to horrible attacks and insults that tipped the woman, who in the future would be known as "Salem", over the edge and through her connection with the rest of the Grimm prompted them to begin their genocidal campaign against humanity.]]

** [[spoiler:Raven starts a relationship with Vegeta, at least on the surface solely to sire a child, whereas in canon she's apparently never been in another relationship aside from Tai. She also hints that she and Qrow may or may not have had a relationship in the past, mostly by the pushing of their [[AbusiveParent father]] who believed they were the strongest of the tribe and thus should produce a worthy next heir.]]
** [[spoiler:Taiyang and Bulma are implied to slowly developing hints of a relationship. Taiyang is also revealed to have at least briefly slept with Qrow in the past, though that was also [[OperationJealousy Qrow's way of getting at Raven]].]]
** [[spoiler:Most notably, Blake starts a relationship with Sun, partially to give him something to live for after Frieza murders the rest of his team, while Yang is building a relationship with Krillin.]]

* AttackReflector: As revealed in a flashback from Qrow, this is how Cinder got horribly maimed during her fight with Ruby. She tried to blast her with a full-powered magic fire blast only for Ruby's Silver Eye magic constructs to reflect it back at her. The result horribly burned her face and effectively made her arm ''melt off''.

* CruelMercy: [[spoiler:Frieza decides to spare the heroes' lives at Haven after Krillin manages to temporarily blind him and everyone who hadn't already been evacuated back to Tai's home by Raven's portal Semblance hides in the forest where he can't explicitly see them or find them without his Scouter, but in true [[{{Sadist}} Frieza]] fashion he proclaims that others will pay the price for this "mercy" and makes a show of blowing up what's left of Mistral. * MundaneUtility: The Multiform technique, while not really practical for direct combat, is shown to have multiple others uses, such as allowing Krillin to work as a one-man contractor to pay the bills, [[spoiler:[[PowerPerversionPotential high-level masturbation and orgy potential]]]], and most notably letting [[TwoBeingsOneBody Oscar and Ozpin]] work separately from each other.

** Ruby unlocks her ability to utilize Ki [[spoiler:by going inside the gravity chamber and cranking it to 100x gravity, determined to unlock her power or die trying since she can't accept that despite all the lessons she and the Remnant crew have received from the Z Fighters, they're still no closer to finally unleashing their hidden power, and every day Frieza tightens his grip and kills more innocent people with them helpless to stop him.]]
** In the very next chapter, [[spoiler:[[SinkOrSwimMentor Vegeta]] "inspired" by Ruby's actions takes Weiss and forces her face-first into a nearby lake with his foot on the back of her head, telling her to unlock her power or drown, since otherwise she'll just be dead weight in the fight against Frieza. She succeeds, and shortly afterwards Raven throws herself to the bottom of the lake to invoke this herself to unlock her own Ki.]] Luckily after this, Bulma develops a device that will help put the Remnantians "in the zone" to let them unlock their Ki without such life-threatening actions.

* ICantSenseTheirPresence: Ki-sensing doesn't work on Creatures of Grimm, which is assumed to be because they are TheSoulless, nor does it work on Maidens, with Krillin expressing surprise that he can't sense Raven's power despite her clearly being one of the strongest people on Remnant. [[spoiler:Nor can they sense Ruby's energy when she's using her Silver Eyes. It's revealed this is due to all of these powers having magical and especially ''divine'' origins.]]

** From Remnant's side, no one was prepared for aliens to just pop up out of nowhere with powers capable of wiping out mountains with a flick of their wrists.
** For the Earthlings, Saiyans, and even Frieza, magic is something almost completely out of left field due to its different properties from ki, with it serving as a great equalizer even in the face of their otherwise greater might. For example, Vegeta looks at Cinder and views her as having not much greater power than a Saibaman, and proceeds to insult and [[UnderestimatingBadassery goad her into taking the first strike against him]]. A furious Cinder proceeds to unload a full magic blast of her Maiden power on him, and quite contrary to his belief he'd NoSell it he's sent flying and ''screaming'' away in an explosion.

He doesn't hesitate to all but lay out Qrow with a punch to the face for convincing Ruby to go to Mistral to join the fight against Salem, [[spoiler:he blows his top at both Krillin and especially Goku for knowingly allowing Neo to hide out on the property when she had plans to kill Ruby for revenge, and he was willing to use Neo's suicide order on her for her intent at separate points to kill his daughters despite everyone else's surprise and shock at seeing Neo choke.]]

* BoxingLessonsForSuperman: As the Remnant gang are beginning to be trained by the Z Fighters, Goku decides to confront Ruby's lack of hand-to-hand skills directly. When Ruby awkwardly tries to copy his fighting stance, he laughs and points out that she needs to use what comes naturally to ''her'', telling her she simply needs to take the instincts she developed from using Crescent Rose and apply them to fighting bare-handed. He uses their following spar to bait her into building her confidence, hesitating and leaving openings for her to exploit for dodging, throwing, blocking, and striking back. As Qrow notes watching from the sidelines, while Ruby's skill level is still novice, Goku's lesson has gotten over her biggest barrier of self-doubt and has left her ''eager'' to learn more rather than trying to deny its necessity.

Not helping is that powers or not, there are certain traits about this body that he's having a hard time adjusting to, such as how it's lactose intolerant, suffering from women's periods, and the fact that it's attracted to men and not women.
