Characters / Tom and Jerry Chase

Go To

A list of the various playable characters featured in Tom and Jerry Chase.

    Cats
A single cat stands up against a team of four mice to try and stop them from achieving their goals. The game sorts cats by one of three categories:

  • Chase: Good at pursuing mice, either with raw high speed or mobility skills.
  • Attack: Good at knocking out mice, either with raw high attack or powerful damaging skills.
  • Defend: Better at waiting for the mice to come to them, by camping out objectives like the cheese wedges or a mouse tied to a rocket.

Tom

One of the main characters of the franchise and also one of the first characters available to the player by default. He is classified as an Attack type.
  • Boring, but Practical: He may have average stats with no major strengths, but he's considered to be one of the stronger cats because he also has no major weaknesses either.
  • Frying Pan of Doom: His second weapon is the Frying Pan. A strong short ranged attack that does heavy damage and can bat items away. It also throws a fried egg projectile that can blind mice.
  • Invincibility Power-Up: His Raging Charge active skill grants him a short burst of invincibility at the cost of a speed penalty afterwards.
  • Jack of All Stats: As a starter character, his stats are well balanced all around, allowing him a great amount of versatility to perform in any role.
  • Michael Hackson: His S skin King of Pop dresses him up in an outfit reminiscent of the one Jackson wears in Billie Jean.
  • Mythology Gag: His B skin Dog Disguise is the disguise he wore in the 1944 short, Puttin' on the Dog.
  • You Shall Not Evade Me: His first weapon is the Mouse Grabber, a gun that shoots a hand that can grab a mouse and pull it back to him, leaving them with a stun that opens them up to a follow up attack. At level 3 it even allows for instant catches.

Butch

A black cat who often serves as a rival to Tom first seen in the 1941 short The Alley Cat. He is classified as a Defend type.
  • Foe-Tossing Charge: His Rampage skill is a shoulder tackle that demolishes anything that gets in its way, uniquely it can also move the cheese and dislodge a partially pushed cheese out of the mouse hole, being the only skill in the game capable of doing so.
  • Glass Cannon: One of the highest attacks in the game, but with extremely low HP.
  • Mythology Gag: His A Skin Tennis Aficionado is based on his appearance in the 1949 short Tennis Chumps.
  • One-Hit Kill: On top of being strong enough to do this to some of the weaker mice, his third level passive grants him a 30% chance to instantly weaken any mouse.

Topsy

A short grey cat first seen in the 1943 short Baby Puss. He is classified as a Defend type.
  • Gradual Grinder: With his clone skill being the core of his gameplay, he really needs to get it to max level where it gains the ability to remain active indefinitely until weakened by mice.
  • Me's a Crowd: His active skill Double Catdentity creates an AI controlled copy of himself that can hunt mice on its own, he's capable of swapping positions with it.

Lightning

An orange cat with super speed first seen in the 1948 short Old Rockin' Chair Tom. He is classified as a Chase type.
  • Bruce Lee Clone: His S skin Kung Fu Master dresses Lightning up in Bruce Lee's iconic yellow tracksuit from Game of Death.
  • Flash Step: His Lightning Strike ability allows him to teleport to a nearby mouse.
  • Lightning Bruiser: One of the fastest cats in the game, and his passive growths can augment his speed even further and make him resistant to speed debuffs.
  • Promoted to Playable: He was not a playable character at the game's launch, although he was still featured in the game as the host of the cat tutorials.

Cowboy Tom

Tom as a cowboy as seen in the 1950 short Texas Tom. He is classified as an Attack type.
  • Brutish Bulls: His active skill lets loose one of these to rampage about crushing mice and destroying items in its path. Cowboy Tom can make it go faster by hitting it with his whip.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: His first weapon is a Whip that does very little damage on its own, but it has a very low cooldown landing it inflicts a stacking buff on Cowboy Tom and a stacking debuff on the mouse. Once enough stacks are on the mouse, they are afflicted with a special stun that allows Cowboy Tom to instantly catch them.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: The bull on the Forest Ranch map does not become aggressive on seeing him, since he's a cowboy.
  • Mythology Gag: His S skin Hero of the West is the more elaborate cowboy outfit he wore in Texas Tom to impress Tara. His intro animation on the preparation lobby is even an exact replication of his walk up to her.

Toodles Galore

A glamorous female cat that serves as a love interest to Tom, first appearing in the 1941 short The Alley Cat. She is classified as a Defend type.
  • Acquired Poison Immunity: As she uses perfume as a weapon, she is passively immune to the Interface Screw of the perfume bottle item, and in fact instead gains the same buff from it she would her own perfume.
  • Damage Over Time: Her enchanting kiss active skill seeks out an opponent and then afflicts them with a damage over time debuff.

Guard Tom

Tom as a guard as seen in Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse. He is classified as a Chase type.

  • Ornamental Weapon: His sword features prominently in his intro animation and most of his costume illustrations, but he currently only uses it to point and aim his cannon, not as an actual weapon.
  • See the Invisible: His Spy On active ability extends his field of vision and both debuffs and removes buffs from any mice he discovers in that area of effect, including rendering invisible mice visible.

Toots

A small female cat and a recurring love interest for Tom first seen in the 1942 short Puss n' Toots. She is classified as an Attack type.
  • Mythology Gag: Her first weapon is the Wolf Pacifier Wrench (localized as Anti-Coyote Hammer) she struck Tom with in The Mouse Comes to Dinner.

Meathead

A brown cat first seen in the 1943 short Sufferin' Cats! He is classified as a Defend type.
  • Attack the Tail: While most of the longer stun animations in the game have cats hopping around like their foot was just crushed, Meathead's instead has him holding his bandaged tail as if it was crushed instead.
  • Cast From HP: While he holds his pepper shaker, he gains increased movement speed at the cost of taking continual damage from the pepper itself.
  • Damage Over Time: His Pepper Can active skill creates a cloud of pepper that does damage to anyone in it, including himself.
  • Gradual Grinder: His passives and his actives go a long way towards patching up his shortcomings, requiring a few levels to get going.
  • Mighty Glacier: Sky high HP, but nothing else about him stands out. At least not until his skills get involved.

Tara

A cowgirl who caught the eye of Cowboy Tom in the 1950 short Texas Tom. She is classified as a Chase type.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Never given a name in her original appearance. Here she is given the name Tara.
  • You Shall Not Evade Me: Her Cowgirl's Lasso weapon allows her to throw a lasso that can catch mice and pull them to her.

Musketeer Tom

Tom as a musketeer as seen in the 1952 short The Two Mouseketeers. He is classified as an Attack type.
  • Blade Spam: His Knight's Assault active skill comes in three phases; first he dashes forward with a lunging attack, then if he lands that he does a sweeping swipe that launches mice, then if he lands that he starts the blade spam; leaping up into the air and chaining sword strikes from all angles.

Cooper

The conductor of the Heavenly Express as seen in the 1949 short Heavenly Puss. He is classified as a Chase type.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: In his original appearance he barred Tom entry to Heaven due to a lifetime of tormenting mice, here he is playable as a tormentor of mice himself.
  • Gradual Grinder: His stats are low overall, requiring his passive skill level ups to patch up his shortcomings.
  • Immune to Flinching: Cooper is resistant to being stunned or knocked out while he's in Heaven, so while mice can chase after him on the escalator he leaves behind, there isn't much they can do to him there.
  • Invisibility: His Heavenly Illusion active skill gives him a unique variant of Invisiblity that can't be dispelled by normal means, but it is automatically lifted when he's in proximity of a mouse, he leaves a shadow a few seconds behind of where he is, and mice can detect when he's in the same room as them with a "!" indicator above their heads.
  • Item Caddy: His Daydream weapon can conjure up one of 3/5 random items based on skill level with a set stock that gets replenished when he returns to the Heavenly Express.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Never given a name in his original appearance. Here he is given the name Cooper.
  • The Pearly Gates: He can travel to the version of this trope as depicted in his short. A sign indicates that the Heavenly Express is closed until further notice while Cooper is busy chasing mice.
  • Squishy Wizard: His kit makes him an extremely fearsome opponent but his passive growths only address his low HP with passive regeneration, meaning he's not great in an extended fight, especially against multiple mice at once.
  • Stairway to Heaven: His Heavenly Illusion active skill can create an escalator to the Heavenly Express he can use to fast travel to any room on the map. Up to two escalators remain on the map at any time. Mice can use the escalators too, but they get limited use out of them as Cooper himself is resistant to attacks in Heaven and they can only return back to the map randomly to one of the mouse holes.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: At the Heavenly Express Cooper has available to him two unique golden rockets. If he takes a mouse up with him to Heaven and ties them onto one of the golden rockets, their souls are tied to the rocket while the mouse itself is returned to play. After 300 seconds that mouse will be automatically dispatched and nothing can be done to free them from this.

Kate

A bookish female cat who caught Tom's eye as seen in the 1952 short Smitten Kitten. She is classified as an Attack type.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Never given a name in her original appearance. Here she is given the name Kate.

Zuri

A female cat who served as Tom's love interest as seen in the 1944 short The Zoot Cat. She is classified as an Attack type.

Angel Tom

Tom's conscience modeled specifically on his appearance in Tom & Jerry (2021). He is classified as an Attack type.
  • Item Caddy: His Gravity weapon causes items on the ground to float around him. At level 2 it is capable of creating his own items if there aren't any nearby to use.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: His role as Tom's angel is to try and argue with him to not chase mice and instead try to befriend them, making it unusual for him to appear here as a chaser of mice.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: He is Tom's shoulder angel made playable.
  • Magic Music: All of his abilities are attributed to playing his harp. Even his eating animations involve him playing his harp to coax the cake/milk to fly up into his mouth.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Characters can normally be controlled with either a control stick interface or a left and right directional buttons interface. Since his Flying Free skill involves free flight, the control input will be temporarily changed to control stick even if one was using left and right buttons.
  • Orbiting Particle Shield: His Gravity weapon turns items into this.
  • Revenue-Enhancing Devices: He is notably one of the only characters who is not unlockable with gold and instead can only be purchased with diamonds. While there are technically other methods available to a free to play player to unlock him, he remains one of the harder characters to unlock without paying.

Syrus

A calico cat seen in the 1964 short The Unshrinkable Jerry Mouse. He is classified as a Chase type.
  • Age Lift: He was a kitten in his original appearance, here he's depicted as a full grown cat.
  • Animal Gender-Bender: In the real world it's highly rare for a calico to be male. This is actually alluded to in his profile which mentions other cats consider him peculiar due to his fur color.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Tied with Lightning for fastest cat in the game, and embodies the trope in a different way from him. After running continually for a short distance his passive skill kicks in accelerating him, electrifying his body, and changing both his weapon and claw attacks into dash attacks. He can catch up to a mouse super quickly, then stun them with his electricity to quickly follow up with his attacks.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Never given a name in his original appearance. Here he is given the name Syrus.
  • Ninja Run: The style of fast run he goes into.

Devil Tom

Tom's anti-conscience modeled specifically on his appearance in Tom & Jerry (2021). He is classified as an Attack type.
  • Mythology Gag: Both his active skill and his weapon are direct references to the 2021 movie; his active skill involves him using a DJ set as he did in the movie to support Tom's singing, and his weapon attacks with a train the way he used on against Angel Tom to win an argument.

Bugs Bunny

The Bugs Bunny of Looney Tunes fame. He finds himself in the world of Tom and Jerry Chase and has decided to join in on the fun. He is classified as an Attack Type.
  • Edible Ammunition: He can throw his carrots to do damage, but he can also eat them to heal himself.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: First of all, he’s not a cat in any way. Second of all, the role of the cat in the Tom and Jerry franchise is generally considered the antagonist role, which is not one Bugs Bunny is associated with.
  • Guest Fighter: The first one in Tom and Jerry Chase, a crossover with Looney Tunes.
  • Homing Projectile: His Carrot Darts will home in on whatever mouse he's declared war on.
  • Mythology Gag: When using his burrowing skill, he will occasionally get lost and go in the opposite direction the player inputs, a reference to the many times he's taken a wrong turn in Albuquerque while burrowing.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: His weapon is Carrots. It can be configured into three different modes to fit various needs.
  • This Means War!: His passive skill causes him to declare war on whichever mouse attacks him, allowing him to track down and chase them more efficiently.
  • Tunnel King: His active skill allows him to dig through the ground, allowing him to travel under walls and closed doors, and damaging mice in the process.

    Mice
A team of four mice are trying to get away with five wedges of cheese, all the while avoiding capture by the cat. The game sorts mice by one of four categories:

  • Cheese: Fast at actually pushing the cheese through the mouse holes, the main objective of the game.
  • Rescue: Fast at untying mice from rockets, often with additional skills to support the rescue effort.
  • Distract: Good at getting into a fight with the cat, keeping it busy for the other mice to do their jobs.

Jerry

One of the main characters of the franchise and also one of the first characters available to the player by default. He is classified as a Cheese type.
  • Hyperspace Mallet: His first weapon Hammer Time is a somewhat slow attack where he pulls out a 100 Ton hammer and swings it. If he manages to hit a cat with it, he crushes their feet, putting them into a long stun that will cause them to drop any mice they were holding.

  • Invisibility: His active skill Invisibility makes him invisible on demand. His second weapon is Vision Scrambler, which can make other mice in its range invisible too.
  • Mythology Gag: His A skin Super Sleuth has him dressed up in his outfit from Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes, another piece of media in which Jerry was depicted as a detective.
  • Smoke Out: His first weapon is Smoke Bomb, throwing a smoke bomb the cat cannot see through, but the mice can. At higher levels it buffs mice and debuffs cats in its area of effect, further aiding is use as a means of escape.

Robin Hood Jerry

Jerry as Robin Hood as seen in Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse. He is classified as a Cheese type.

Pirate Jerry

Jerry as a pirate as seen in Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers. He is classified as a Distract type.

  • Demolitions Expert: Not only are both of his weapons explosives, his level 3 passive grants him immunity to taking damage from all explosions.

  • Puppet Fighter: His weapon skill Mr. Rabbit pulls a rabbit out of his hat who Magician can command to perform quite a few different tasks, from carrying items to him, rescuing mice, pushing cheese or healing allies. The rabbit will continue to do whatever task is asked of it even if Magician leaves it behind, giving him quite a bit of versatility to multi task.

Pecos

Jerry's guitar playing uncle first seen in the 1953 short Pecos Pest. He is classified as an Assist type.
  • Auto-Revive: At passive level 3 he gains a once per match effect to automatically restore to full health instead of becoming weakened.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: His supportive buffs more than make up for his own shortcomings, but this does require good team coordination as he's not very effective on his own; he needs a teammate to stick around with him to support.
  • Gradual Grinder: He reaches his full support potential at level 2 of his active weapon, which requires he be at level 3 overall at earliest.
  • Magic Music: His main weapon is Best Performance, which has him play a song that heals and buffs allies in its area of effect, while damaging and debuffing allies.

Muscles

Jerry's tough cousin as seen in 1950 short Jerry's Cousin He is classified as both a Rescue and Distract type.
  • Charge Meter: He has an anger meter that builds up when a cat injures a mouse in his presence. Once it is full he automatically enters his Full-On Anger mode and becomes an extremely powerful threat to the cat.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: While he can be The Juggernaut that mops the floor with cats as depicted in his original appearance, it does take careful management of his meter and good use of his rather slow to start up attack to accomplish that.
  • Flash Step: His Daring Rescue active skill immediately warps him to any mouse in peril, knocking away items (such as mousetraps) when he lands.
  • Inflating Body Gag: Just like in his original appearance, his Sandman Punch has a preparation animation where he blows up his fist into a comically large size, after which a second input can be used to have him throw one of three different attacks.
  • Nerf: He's the only character in the Chinese server to have extensive voice acting for every thing he does. This is added specifically to address his dominance as it now makes him announce to the cat when he's become a threat to them and also when he's more vulnerable, making him a bit easier to play around.
  • Pint-Size Powerhouse: One of the strongest mice in the game. While most Distract mice focus on simply annoying the cat while being hard to hit, Muscles can straight up knock out a cat in a fight under the right conditions.
  • Promoted to Playable: Was not a playable character at launch, although he was featured in the game at launch as the host for the mouse tutorials.
  • Punched Across the Room: His Sandman Punch weapon can knock a cat away with heavy knockback in various directions determined by the player.

While there are technically other methods available to a free to play player to unlock him, he remains one of the harder characters to unlock without paying.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: His rage meter expresses one of these into gameplay mechanics, as the trigger for his rage is for him to witness the cat injuring the other mice.
  • The Stoic: He never changes his serious expression, even when taking damage or near the cat. Even when caught and tied to the rocket he at best looks annoyed rather than panicked like the other mice.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: While his direct cheese pushing ability is abysmal, he can use his Sandman Punch at level 3 and full rage to simply punch the cheese through the hole.

Michelle

A small white female mouse said to live in Toodles Galore's house. She is classified as both a Rescue and Assist type.
  • Expy: She appears to be designed as a Distaff Counterpart to Tuffy. Her Crybaby skill even seems to evoke the ending of The Milky Waif.
  • Objectshifting: Her weapon Shapeshift! allows her to copy an item into memory after which she can transform into it. She is a fully functional copy of that item while transformed, giving this skill various applications from simply tying to hide from a cat in pursuit to transforming into offensive items like the fruit platter for the other mice to use.
  • Lighter and Softer: Michelle is originated from the white version of Toots mouse who appeared in Blue Cat Blues, but everything about her has been changed, including her personality and name. Michelle's cartoon origin description explained that she was only taking on a ride with Tuffy, but left out the detail that she cheated Jerry.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Her active skill Crybaby evokes the one specifically from The Milky Waif. If she is injured by the cat she can use this skill to start crying. If an allied mouse comes to her to comfort her, they will be granted the effects of the Transformation Potion: transforming into an invincible hulk capable of doing heavy damage to the cat.

Conductor Jerry

Jerry as a concert conductor as seen in the 1950 short The Hollywood Bowl. He is classified as an Assist type.
  • Magic Music: He doesn't conduct musicians as much as he conjures music out of thin air. All of his animations in particular move with an air that his baton is more like a magic wand.
  • Stance System: His Change of Style active skill changes between two different modes. In Rhapsody mode he enhances the offenses of allies, while in Concerto mode he enhances defenses.
  • Support Party Member: His primary gimmick is two different kinds of buffs he can passively grant to himself and nearby allies.

Guardsman

One of the Mouse Queen's royal guards as seen in Tom and Jerry: Back to Oz. He is classified as a Distract type.
  • Adaptational Badass: Guardsman(s) in the original look softer and kinder, but when he/they appeared in the game, he always has a tougher expression, with more pronounced shoulders.

Nipper

Jerry's prank loving friend as seen in the 1956 short The Year of the Mouse. He is classified as both a Rescue and Assist type.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Nipper is an original name given to him in the game, but it could also be inspired by Tuffy's old name, which is Nibbles. This is evident in the pronunciation of his Chinese name (Ní bǎo), as well as his Thai name, which is actually Nibbles.

Dodo

A robot mouse Tom built in the Tom and Jerry Tales episode Hi, Robot. She is classified as both a Rescue and Distract type.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: As a robot, her level 1 passive makes her resistant to the negative effects of being in outer space or underwater in the Space Fortress and Forest Ranch maps respectively.
  • Shock and Awe: Her active skill Power Charge allows her to electrify items, giving them an extra shocking effect when used against the cat. In addition, electrified cheese will automatically get some progress done when first placed into the mouse hole.

Fairy Godmother

Jerry's fairy godmouse as seen in the 1965 short Of Feline Bondage. She is classified as both a Rescue and Assist type.
  • Forced Transformation: With enough stars, she can use her Fairy Wand to transform the cat into a giant star, limiting their mobility by making them too big to fit in places, and restricting their combat abilities.
  • Mythology Gag: One of her cheapest buffs is to make a mouse invisible. In her original short she had gifted Jerry an invisibility potion.
  • Promoted to Playable: She was not a playable character at the game's launch, although she was still featured in the game as the host of Magic Mirror gacha. Unlike other examples of this trope, her role in the game previous to being playable directly informs her gameplay as a character, with her entire gimmick revolving around characters being able to collect and use stars to make wishes on her magic mirror, which mirrors the gacha system directly.
  • Support Party Member: Not only does she collect stars she can use to buff mice or debuff the cat, but simply by existing she also allows everyone else to earn stars which they can spend for themselves at her magic mirror for wishes or fast travel.
  • Use Their Own Weapon Against Them: One of the drawbacks of the stars is the cat can also steal them from the mice with attacks and can even use their stars to make their own wishes on the magic mirror if they can access it.

Miko

Michelle's older brother, an intrepid reporter. He is classified as both an Assist and Rescue type.
  • Original Generation: Inspired by Michelle's design and color scheme, appeared as her older brother, but is original to Tom and Jerry Chase.
  • Time Rewind Mechanic: His Beautiful Moments weapon takes a photograph of everyone around him. When he uses it again, he warps everyone who had their picture taken back to where they were, effectively rewinding time back to that moment.

Celeste

A white female jerboa. She is classified as both a Rescue and Assist type.

Performer ▪ Jerry

Jerry as he appeared in the 1964 short The Cat Above and the Mouse Below. He is classified as an assist type.
  • Living on Borrowed Time: His level 3 passive allows him to return to play if dispatched in a manner similar to Angel Jerry's Auto-Revive buff, however his actions are more limited and his hp continually drains down, giving him a finite amount of time to work with.
  • Nonstandard Character Design: While most characters have their designs modified to fit in with the game's art style, with variants in particular always using the original character as the base, Performer Jerry stands out as he is explicitly rendered in the Chuck Jones era design he hails from, making him look different from every other Jerry in the game. Moreover, he is the only character with an interpunct in his name, as interpuncts are usually used between the character name and the skin name.
  • The Show Must Go On: He is extremely resistant to being taken out, with this trope constantly being cited in the flavor text of his skill descriptions as the reason why, such as his active skill Dreamy Dance in which he does a dance routine that at level 1 is resistant to being interrupted by stun, and at level 2 is immune to being interrupted at all: if his health is reduced to 0 during, he will simply keep dancing and not become weakened until the routine is finished.
