Marksman Heroes

    Beatrix, Dawnbreak Soldier
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_beatrix.png
"Time and tide wait for no man, nor girl."
Voiced by: Miyari Nemoto (Japanese)

Beatrix was born and grew up in Moniyan Empire, near Castle Gorge, where she lived a carefree life while her parents often traveled for trade business. One fateful trip from Eruditio had them bring various technological devices that fascinated the young Beatrix and she studied about science really hard. At the age of 16, she packed her belongings and moved to Eruditio, being accepted to the Scholars Union and becoming its top student in no time, although her much more radical and wild personality often caused distress to the Union and it caused the Leviathan Workshop under Dr. Rooney to reject her, barring Beatrix from her ultimate dream.

One day, the Scholar Union held a debate, and Beatrix raised a wild proposal to prove herself: The human body could be connected with communication terminals in order to establish a direct neurological connection with others. However, the other scientists noticed the similarity of that concept with the evils committed by Laboratory 1718 under Octavius. Beatrix was kicked out before she even finished her proposal. Angered at her unfair treatment, Beatrix returned home to Moniyan and secretly built up her project.

The project turns out to be a virtual reality game known as Survival: Nexus, something akin of an MMORPG. Beatrix successfully captures the hearts of even her detractors thanks to her offered prize of a huge sum of money. However, suddenly, Laboratory 1718 hacks into Survival: Nexus network and linked to the stolen "Iron Guardians" robots, now the robots act like how the players act and they're unwittingly causing damages to Eruditio. Beatrix refuses to let her invention used for evil, so she joins forces with the Eruditio Rangers to thwart Laboratory 1718's plot using her four personal self-made firearms: Renner the Sniper Rifle, Bennett the Bazooka, Wesker the Shotgun, and Nibiru the Sub-machine gun. Thanks to this, Beatrix finally secures an audience with Dr. Rooney, becomes his student, and stays in Eruditio again for further studies.

Beatrix is a Marksman hero who specializes Damage & Reap has a unique ability to switch between four firearms: a pair of sub-machine guns, a shotgun, a sniper rifle, and BFG a bazooka]].

  • Her passive skill is Mechanical Genius. Beatrix uses four aforementioned firearms with each different ability.
    • Sniper rifle Renner enables her to give long-range burst damage with each shot.
    • Bazooka Bennett enables her to give Area of Effect damage.
    • Shotgun Wesker enables her to give short-range burst damage
    • Sub-machine guns Nibiru enables her to give quick continuous Damage Over Time.
This passive skill also disables any critical chance for Beatrix. Instead, every 1% of critical chance is converted into 1 Physical Attack.
  • Her first skill is Masterful Gunner. It passively gives Beatrix the ability to carry two weapons at once and actively enables her to switch over between the two weapons.
  • Her second skill is Tactical Reposition. Beatrix dashes forward and fully reloads her weapons.
  • Her ultimate skill differs depending on which weapon she uses.
    • Sniper rifle will activate Renner's Apathy, which Beatrix will charge and aim the enemy from afar.
    • Bazooka will activate Bennett's Rage, which Beatrix will rain down missiles on a targeted area.
    • Shotgun will activate Wesker's Elation, which Beatrix fires on target in front of her in short range.
    • Sub-machine gun will activate Nibiru's Passion, which Beatrix will release a Gatling shot to the target in front of her.

    Brody, the Lone Star

    Bruno, Mech Protector
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_bruno.png
"Wait for it."
Voiced by: Shunsuke Mochizuki (Japanese), Masahiro Yamanaka (Japanese, Adventure)

Bruno is a kind hearted star soccer player from Eruditio. He also tends to use his soccer skills to defend the locals. He tragically lost his legs when trying to defend the brilliant scientist Dr. Rooney, and this caused him to spiral into depression. However, Dr. Rooney repaid him by giving him a synthetic, mechanical legs, enabling him to not only felt like flying while running, but also giving him an energy ball for his legs so he could still use his soccer skills not just to play, but also better defend Eruditio. As a token of gratitude for lifting back his spirits, Bruno joined the Eruditio Rangers and has been the stalwart guardian of the town ever since.

Bruno is a Marksman hero who kicks energy soccer balls to the enemy's face, keeping up a tempo to further enhance his kicks until the big finish to wipe out enemies that stick together.

  • His passive is Mecha Legs. Bruno gains extra critical hit chance everytime he deals damage with his skills. This can stack up to 10 times. He naturally gains higher attack power, but at cost of gaining less attack speed bonus from all sources.
  • His first skill is Volley Shot. Bruno enhances his next basic attack with a Powerball to deal more damage and slow them. On the next successful attack, his Powerball bounces and lands to a ground. Bruno or other allied heroes can pick up the Powerball so Bruno can do another bounce attack and reduce his second skill's cooldown by 1 second.
  • His second skill is Flying Tackle. Bruno does a sliding tackle to a direction. Enemies in his path are damaged and stunned temporarily. If he slides when the Powerball is bouncing from his first skill, Bruno immediately draws the ball to him.
  • His ultimate is Wave of the World. Bruno executes a flying kick with his ball, shooting it to a target enemy, dealing damage and knocking them back. The ball bounces to nearby enemies, dealing damage and reducing their physical defense.

  • Despair Event Horizon: Bruno never regretted saving Dr. Rooney, but as a soccer player, being rendered legless is something of a Fate Worse than Death so he's got serious reasons to be in despair. Luckily, Dr. Rooney knows just how to pull him back from it.
  • Expy: He's basically a soccer-themed Draven, since his soccer-bounce mechanic is similar to Draven's spinning blade mechanic. His ult is taken from Brand (or Lich), though. Thankfully, Bruno is a lot more forgiving compared to Draven: the ball stays on the ground for a short time in case he fails to reposition himself, his allies can pick up the ball for him, and he can manipulate the ball's bouncing direction with his sliding tackle.
  • Gratuitous English: Set the voice option to Japan and Bruno goes around with some Engrish phrases.
    On selection: "SHOWTIME!!!"
While moving: "NICE THROUGH! HEY, PASS!"
  • I Know Madden Kombat: Even before he got his mechanical legs, Bruno was known to use his soccer skills to defend the locals from harassment. It's not too hard to think about. Of course, he gets even more efficient with the mechanical legs.
  • I Owe You My Life: Downplayed. Bruno owes everything to Dr. Rooney, but he wasn't close to dying back then. It's just that without Dr. Rooney, he'd be rendered legless for the rest of his life, no longer able to personally enjoy soccer again. Death would seem preferrable for a soccer nut like him.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Marksmen usually uses arrows, guns, or thrown spears. Bruno? He kicks soccer balls to his enemies' face.
  • One-Way Visor: Wears a bright orange visor that covers his eye. It could be part of the modification given to him by Dr. Rooney.

    Claude, Master Thief

    Clint, West Justice
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_clint.png
"Chivalry is dead, and I will revive it."
Voiced by: Owen Thomas (English), Wataru Tsuyuzaki (Japanese, both main game and Adventure)

Clint was the sheriff of a town near the border with Agelta Drylands. He's a well known, beloved Sheriff with great sense of justice in addition of incredible marksmanship, protecting the town with his passion of justice. However, when stopping a bar brawl from criminals which would end in the execution of the criminals, the gang leader revealed himself as Blandy, nephew of the notorious crime lord Waldo Kane of Los Pecados, and if he died, Waldo would raze the town. Clint was unfazed and still went on with the plan to execute Blandy, but his own townspeople didn't share his bravery and to save their own hide, they blamed Clint, stripped him from his rank and drove him out of town. Blandy would betray the town anyway and his gang started razing the town... until suddenly Clint came back, driven by his own sense of justice, and wiped the floor with the gang by himself, driving them out of town. The town survivor begged for forgiveness, but while Clint forgave them, he preferred to not resume his job as a Sheriff, he rode out alone with just his donkey. It's either him finding Kane, or Kane finding him and he'll bring them to justice either way, but the town will be spared from his ensuing rampage.

Clint is a Marksman hero with the ability to rapidly burst down his enemies with his revolver fire or his backup grenade launching-rifle.

  • His passive is Double Shot. Every time Clint uses a skill, his next attack will use his rifle that penetrates enemy lines, deals extra damage and can proc Critical Hit.
  • His first skill is Quick Draw. Clint shoots 5 bullets rapidly in a fan area, hitting all enemies in area, but if there are less than 5 enemies, then some enemies will take extra bullets with reduced damage.
  • His second skill is Trapping Recoil. Clint jumps back while throwing a net/bola forward that immobilizes enemies hit, and if it hits, the skill will have its cooldown reduced.
  • His Ultimate is Grenade Bombardment. Clint fires a grenade from his rifle, exploding on the first enemy hit and slowing them. Clint can store up to 5 grenades for consecutive fire.

  • Art Evolution: He has gone multiple revamps, and he ages at every revamp. One of the jokes of the community is that Clint is the only hero allowed to age.
  • BFG: Both his revolver and rifle are outstandingly bulky.
  • For Great Justice: Whatever he does, it's because he likes to see justice prevail. He just got betrayed by his own people that he protected, he came back to help them anyway because it's just not his style to see people who can't defend themselves to suffer.
  • More Dakka: While not as extreme as newer heroes like Beatrix, Clint's play style is basically 'Unload as many shots as you can to your enemy.' He's got normal revolver shots that can be alternated with piercing rifle shots, five rapid shots, five grenade rounds, and he can unload them to his target in quick succession until said target is dead.
  • Revolvers Are Just Better: Clint has an outstanding burst damage and reach thanks to his revolver. Though his rifle outranges it, but Clint's normal attack as a marksman uses his revolver. And somehow, it's his passive-powered revolver shots that can deal the most damage thanks to the outstanding range, spammability and being able to pierce through multiple enemies.
  • Save the Day, Turn Away: The people has begged for forgiveness, and Clint actually forgives them. But he doesn't want to be their sheriff again and rides away, it's a lot more efficient and protective if he just confronts the Kane family on his own.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He's not on good terms with Claude, a thief, and would rather see him behind the bars. But since they're both after the same guy (Waldo Kane), Clint had to put that aside for now.
  • The Wild West: He's a love letter to this genre. A revolver-toting cowboy named after the chief actor that popularized the setting on wide screen? Yep, definitely.

    Granger, Death Chanter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_granger.png
"Experience the euphony of suffering."
Voiced by: Jack Dillon (English), Masanori Date (Japanese), Shohei Komatsu (Japanese, Adventure)

Granger is a Marksman hero who specializes in Burst Damage with his gun and violin case that can transform into a cannon.

  • His passive is Caprice. Granger fills his gun with six bullets at a time. The sixth bullet will always deal critical damage. However, Granger would only gain 40% of attack speed from equipment or emblems.
  • His first skill is Rhapsody. Granger shoots forward six times. Each hit of this skill reduces the cooldown of Rondo by 0.5 seconds.
  • His second skill is Rondo. Granger dashes forward and enhances his next two basic attacks by 10%-30% for 5 seconds.
  • His ultimate skill is Death Sonata. Granger turns his violin case into a rocket launcher and shoots three missiles. Each bullet gives Splash Damage.

  • BFG: His violin case is disguised as one.
  • Briefcase Blaster: As mentioned earlier, his violin case is actually a rocket launcher.
  • Dreadful Musician: His lore said that he is actually tone-deaf. Granger uses his bad music playing to distract his enemies and shoots them when they are vulnerable.
  • Firing One-Handed: He shoots with his gun with only one hand. Although, there is a noticeable recoil effect in his animation.
  • One Bullet at a Time: He is one of the two heroes in the game (the other is Beatrix) to have a visible bullet count and reload mechanism.

    Hanabi, Scarlet Flower
Voiced by: Alpha Takahashi (English), Saki Ono (Japanese), Reina Ueda (Japanese, Adventure)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_hanabi_2.png
"花火、参上!/Hanabi, sanjou!"note

A kunoichi of the Scarlet Sect of the Scarlet Shadow from the Cadia Riverlands. Hanabi is the oldest daughter of the grandmaster. She used to be the top ninja among her peers, but that status only lasted until she met Hayabusa of the Shadow Sect. At first, she dismissed him as just another face. Then, Hayabusa soundly beat her in sparring. With her pride stabbed, Hanabi constantly provoked Hayabusa into duels, only to be beaten time and time again; she could only score a few victories. From those bouts, Hanabi started to develop some feelings for Hayabusa. But she was taught not to openly express her emotions, so she refrained from confessing; at the same time, she heard Hayabusa say he'd find a "certain man" with intense hatred.

Eventually, Hayabusa's coming-of-age ceremony approaches, and Hanabi learns about his plans to leave the Cadia Riverlands. Hanabi decides to cook him a bento and confess her feelings before he's gone for good. After a lot of trial and error, the usually tomboyish Hanabi manages to create a decent bento. She rushes to follow Hayabusa in the middle of the rain, but when she gets to him, she sees Hayabusa sharing an umbrella with another of his childhood friends, Kagura. Heartbroken, Hanabi leaves without accepting Hayabusa's umbrella.

Hanabi eventually takes the position of leadership of the Scarlet Sect, and it is only then that she finds out the identity of the man Hayabusa spoke of with hatred: the rogue ninja Hanzo, who stole the sacred treasure Ame-no-Habakiri and, along the way, murdered Hayabusa's big brother. Hanabi resolves to also follow Hayabusa to apprehend Hanzo.

She eventually manages to confront Hanzo, but he is too powerful. Hanabi resolves to surrender herself to her sacred weapon, the Higanbana shuriken, in order to have a shot in winning. Her body is taken over by the weapon to fight Hanzo, but her mind wanders to discover the past owner of Higanbana and the sacrifices he made. From there, she learns that winning isn't everything, and her bitter rivalry with both Hayabusa and Kagura evaporates. Even though Hanzo escapes and Hayabusa once again has to bail her out, Hanabi finds peace in herself, knowing that she can walk her own path while moving on from her past pain.

Hanabi is a Marksman hero who may lack extreme mobility for a ninja, but makes it up with extreme team-fighting damage as she can deliver untold damage to multiple enemies continuously.

  • Her passive is Ninjutsu: Petal Barrage. Hanabi's normal attack and second skill has an ability to bounce to nearby enemies up to four times. Each bounce will deal less damage than before.
  • Her first skill is Ninjutsu: Equinox. Hanabi generates a shield and gains a brief increase in movement speed and immunity to slow or crowd control. During this period, any damage Hanabi inflict will be converted to a shield that can fill up Hanabi's missing HP.
  • Her second skill is Ninjutsu: Soul Scroll. Hanabi throws a scroll to a direction, dealing damage and slowing enemies hit with it. For each hit, Hanabi also recovers mana. With her passive, her scroll can also bounce four times.
  • Her ultimate is Forbidden Jutsu: Higanbana. Hanabi throws her particular shuriken, Higanbana, to a direction. When it hits a target, a huge higanbana flower will bloom fully, inflicting massive damage and immobilizing her target. If there are nearby enemies staying in the area of the flower, that enemy will be hit with another Higanbana damage and immobilization. One target can only be hit with the flower once.

  • Action Girl: She's capable of tearing her enemies to shreds by throwing her giant shuriken from afar.
  • Butt-Monkey: After holding a record of being an undefeated ninja, Hayabusa proceeded to repeatedly trounce her. Then, when she grew some feelings and attempted to confess, Kagura beat her to a punch. And meta-wise, because she has no immediate mobility skills, she tends to be easy pickings for chase-based heroes or those with crowd control.
  • Character Development: Hanabi perhaps has one of the most thorough character development in the game as shown with her evolving quote set which gets updated at least twice:
    • Her very first incarnation set her up as a typical ninja who's rivaling with Hayabusa, but prominently stammered about her hidden love for cute things, which could sound out of place for her character (this was after all when Moonton hasn't gotten serious in characterizing).
    • Her second incarnation removed her secret obsession on cute things, but in its place, Hanabi became slightly angrier since she realized that she's still not surpassing Hayabusa, as well as how Kagura was ahead of the race in vying for Hayabusa's attention. As such, her quotes sound 'tougher' and put up some roasting against Kagura and the Seimei Umbrella.
    • In the third incarnation, Hanabi has calmed down a lot more and stopped antagonizing Kagura or provoking Hayabusa for their rivalry, as she has finally found peace with her situation. Her quotes revolve around moving on from her past pain, taking responsibility as the Scarlet clan leader, and focusing on the current mission to apprehend Hanzo.
  • Combo: Hanabi works well with heroes that grant a shield to allies (especially Angela), because once she has any shield on (not just from her skill), she's completely crowd control-immune, therefore she can tank several crowd control skills until she runs out of shield.
  • Enmity with an Object: Because Kagura is known for her Seimei Umbrella and she seems close with Hayabusa, the person she had a crush on. Because of this Hanabi develops a hatred towards umbrellas in general. A few of her quotes refer to this and her annoyance with Kagura. At least, this lasts until her December 2022 revamp, where she ends up moving on from that.
"Umbrellas are stupid, and so is anyone using them!"
"Show me that umbrella and see what happens!"
  • Glass Cannon: Her attacks are extremely damaging and can bounce off multiple enemies. Hanabi can take on crowds of enemies at once, but unless protected, she will go down very fast... and her lack of mobility means she'll easily get caught and broken. She's close enough to a type of Mighty Glacier who trades her defense for even more attack power.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: Her specialty is that she has several AOE attacks and her normal attacks can bounce off targets, allowing her to attack multiple targets at once even with normal attacks.
  • Lady of War: Before her rework, Hanabi was an aversion. Sure, she's the 'cool' ninja, but she had a hidden angry streak unbefitting of the trope and she was driven with anger. After her rework, Hanabi is basically the cool-headed and graceful ninja warrior, having moved on from her past frustration and anger issues, who's also deadly.
  • Love Triangle: She's vying for Hayabusa's love, competing with Kagura. Hanabi knows she's on the losing side, until the revamped version of Hanabi, Hayabusa, and Kagura lore on September 2021, which making Hayabusa on the neutral side.
  • Magikarp Power: She's one of the more extreme cases of "starting out super weak but super strong in the late game". In the early game, Hanabi REALLY suffers due to her lack of mobility skills. However, if she can gather farm and survive into the late game, Hanabi can melt her opponents before they can use their mobility skills to escape her or catch her off guard.
  • Ninja: First and foremost, she's a kunoichi. Even if somehow, she has no mobility skills for a supposedly "agile" ninja.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The tomboyish, battle-oriented girl contrasting with Kagura, who is gentle and magically oriented.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: As an action-oriented tomboy ninja, Hanabi keeps her hair in a ponytail.
  • Tsundere: She keeps goading Hayabusa to fight her, but secretly develops feelings for him.

    Irithel, Jungle Heart

    Ixia, the Arclight Outlaw

    Karrie, Lost Star

    Kimmy, Jetpack Rebel

    Layla, Energy Gunner
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_layla.png
"Ready? Go!"
Voiced by: Sarah Miller-Crews (English), Rie Kugimiya (Japanese, first voiceset), Nene Hieda (Japanese, current voiceset), Rina Hidaka (Japanese, Adventure)

Born into a family of inventors in Eruditio, Layla was enamored by her grandfather's stories of adventure as an Eruditio City Guard. Because of her parents' line of work, she did not get along well with them, especially her father. While she desired a life of adventure, believing that Eruditio's technology should be used to change the world, her father warned her of the outside world's dangers but his warnings fell into deaf ears.

Layla's father gave her a Malefic Gun through her grandfather for her, which only made her desire for adventure stronger. On her 16th birthday, she slipped away from the city with the Malefic Gun, in hand. She uncovered a serial kidnapping case of several children in a remote city, but unbeknownst to her, the kidnappers were Laboratory 1718 scientists who shifted their priority from using children for experimentation, to obtaining the Leviathan technology in her gun. She was eventually released, but fell into confusion after finding out her father defected and joined the scientists from Laboratory 1718.

Only during her grandfather's deathbed she found out her father worked for the evil scientists in exchange for her freedom, and she finally understood the true depths of his father's love. She eventually set out to find Laboratory 1718 with the prototype Leviathan rifle that her father left behind, in hand.

Layla is a reap-specialty marksman who can shoot down enemies from a long distance, with her passive capitalizing this play style.

  • Her passive is Malefic Gun. Layla deals more damage to targets further away from her, up to 130% of her attack damage at a maximum of 6 yards.
  • Her first skill is Malefic Bomb. Layla shoots an energy bomb forward. Upon a successful hit, her basic attacks and Void Projectile increase in range for 3 seconds, and she gains increased movement speed that rapidly decays within 1.2 seconds (2.4 seconds if an enemy hero is hit).
  • Her second skill is Void Projectile. Layla releases an energy orb that explodes, damaging nearby enemies and applying a "Magic Mark" to the first enemy hit. If she attacks them again while the mark is active, an additional explosion will occur, damaging and stunning all enemies caught in the blast for 0.25 seconds.
  • Her ultimate is Destruction Rush. Layla shoots a large energy blast at a relatively long distance.

  • Badass Boast: In her movement voice lines, she gives a compliment... only to brag her skill after.
"Keep it up, until you're as brilliant as me!"
  • Bound and Gagged: During Ixia's introduction trailer and story, Layla plays a part as a bait for criminals, and ends up tied to a chair, her mouth is taped up and she's used as a hostage against Ixia. Thing is, Ixia acts like she doesn't care and acts like she'll happily inflict friendly-fire to the tied up Layla... and purposely missing all of them while successfully hitting the criminals.
  • Butt-Monkey: Layla's lack of mobility skills and pretty archaic skillset make her the butt of joke by many players, and she's also the go-to AI-less dummy for Hero Training, so players treat her like a punching bag. Then she gets Bound and Gagged, treated as a hostage and almost shot down on purpose by her rival, and people treat it like she's just being in her natural habitat of being a punching bag.
  • Disappeared Dad: Layla knows her mother Lilian is dead, buried, but her dad is considered MIA, where his grave doesn't even have a name on it. Unbeknownst to her (but known to the audience), her dad is actually Nolan, a rogue researcher of Eruditio researching about the multiverse and one of the masterminds of the chaos in Eruditio with the Sand Hunters causing the kidnapping of Dr. Rooney. He's alive and Layla encounters him without even knowing who he is.
  • Energy Weapon: Her Leviathan Rifle shoots blue energy projectiles.
  • Glass Cannon: Layla can hit hard thanks to her passive, but she can barely sustain damage.
  • Hit-and-Run Tactics: Land Malefic Bomb, aim at a target with Void Projectile and her basic attacks, then retreat.
  • The Law of Conservation of Detail: The impact SFX of her projectiles serve as audio cues for her passive. The further away the impact, the more resonant they are.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Layla's kit emphasizes keeping her as far as possible from enemies while she shoots from the backline. She is highly ill-suited to fight within melee range; not only she has poor defenses and low HP, her damage basically drops until she is able to reposition herself... which she has a hard time with because she has absolutely zero escape option. Fortunately, her recent buff now allows her to sidestep more easily while attacking, although shooting from the back lines is still her primary objective.
  • Nice Girl: Layla is a very positive and nice member of the Eruditio Rangers, believing in the inherent good of many people. There's a lot of former criminals she redeemed because of her niceness. This makes her a Foil to her more antiheroic rival, Ixia.
  • Power Creep: In terms of range, her ultimate is outclassed by Xavier's, whose ultimate is also a long-ranged beam which can hit enemies all the way across the map. Still, Layla's Destruction Rush benefits from her passive whereas Xavier deals fixed damage instead.
  • Retcon: She had a different backstory prior to her Project NEXT revamp.
    • Layla dreamt of being a mage who studied in the Ursula Academy of Magic, the rival institution of Eruditio.
    • Her father developed the Malefic Cannon for research rather than gifting it to her.
    • The technology used in the weapon was a Magic Stone from the Abyss, rather than the advanced Leviathan tech that was desired by scientists from Laboratory 1718.
    • Layla's driving motivation was fueled by learning the secrets of the Magic Stone in her cannon, rather than finding Laboratory 1718 to rescue her father.
  • The Rival: She's one to her fellow Aspirant Blade of Kibou Fanny, always wanting to out-compete her in being the best Aspirant.
Layla (to enemy Fanny): "I guess, she's prepared to lose."
Fanny (to enemy Layla): "Is that Layla? The competition thing just never ends, huh?"
  • Skill Gate Characters: As the first hero you'll receive, Layla is effective early on but as you rank up, she's at the mercy of assassins and other agile heroes who can easily backline her.
  • Valley Girl: She uses this kind of intonation in some of her Miss Hikari skin quotes.
Miss Hikari: "The Enders are freaking me out... with their ugliness indeed."
  • Tsundere: Her "Miss Hikari" Aspirants-themed skin gives her this personality trait.
Miss Hikari: "I told you my secret place just on a whim. Ugh, it doesn't mean anything."
  • Wolverine Publicity: While she's not the first hero nor the official mascot, both positions being held by Miya, Layla is nevertheless one of the most prominent 'poster girls' of the game. She's the first free hero you get, and she's also the one who greets you when you registered to the game the first time.

    Lesley, Deadly Sniper
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_lesley.png
"Sniper ready. Give me a target."
Voiced by: Natalie van Sistine (English), Sakie Takada (Japanese), Aki Toyosaki (Japanese, Adventure)

A daughter of a family within the Vance Household. Her whole family was killed by a rival family attack. In tears, Lesley picked up her father's heirloom rifle and killed every last one of the murderers. She's later adopted to the main family of House Vance, where she was assigned to be the bodyguard and sister figure of the heir, Harley. While Harley was always a troublemaker, his presence managed to calm Lesley. Eventually, Harley departed to travel the Land of Dawn, and when Lesley caught up to him, she discovered that he has matured. The two became known as the sibling team that slay monsters within the Land of Dawn.

Lesley is a Marksman/Assassin hero styled as a stealth sniper. She gets into favorable positions and fires deadly bullets right onto the enemy's weak spot.

  • Her passive is Lethal Shot. As long as Lesley hasn't taken any damage for 5 seconds, her next basic attack gets an extended range, extra critical chance and deals increased True Damage. Passively, this converts her Physical Penetration trait into critical hit chance, but she has a reduced maximum critical hit damage. Lesley also uses Energy for her skills, which is restored by either basic attack or Lethal Shot. The passive's cooldown is also reset if she casts a skill.
  • Her first skill is Master of Camouflage. Lesley enters stealth mode, doubling her Energy regeneration rate, giving her extra movement speed and increasing her next normal attack damage. This state ends prematurely if Lesley attacks or takes damage. Keen enemies can see her through the blur within the map.
  • Her second skill is Tactical Grenade. Lesley jumps backwards and throws a grenade that knocks enemies back and deals damage. This ability can be used to cancel her ultimate early.
  • Her ultimate is Ultimate Snipe. Lesley takes a sniping position and can search for a target. Once she gets her selected target, she fires four Lethal Shot bullets that deal massive damage each. The bullet can be blocked by other enemy heroes. Lesley can interrupt this skill either manually or by throwing a Tactical Grenade. Any spare bullets left will decrease the ultimate's cooldown. Passively, it also gives Lesley natural critical chances.

  • Berserker Tears: Lesley dropped one droplet of tear per shot against her family's murderer. For each of them, they die in one shot. Therefore, she drops one tear for one kill.
  • Cold Sniper: Downplayed. Her quotes give her a cold and professional air, but Lesley is actually pretty warm-hearted, especially when Harley is involved.
  • Cool Big Sis: The cool-headed sister figure of the former troublemaker Harley.
  • Charged Attack: Most Lesley players try to wait until her passive becomes active, before they start attacking. It's rarer to see Lesley trying to do a rapid-fire normal attack style.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Lesley became cold after the death of her parents. But after meeting Harley and his troublemaking antics, Lesley began warming up.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Her first opinion on Gusion is just "Someone she needs to seize the Heart of Anima from" and wouldn't think twice to shoot him on the head if he's not cooperating. Then, they end up having to defend themselves from an incoming group of Abyssal demons' attack, they get stranded in a cave, and they have to team up to get out alive, while also revealing about their sibling relationships and issues (Harley and Aamon, respectively). Once they get out of the cave, their attraction becomes mutual.
  • Happily Adopted: She's not part of the main Vance family unlike Harley. However, she's happy with her adoption this way.
  • Official Couple: She has a crush on Gusion, while he also had a crush on her.
  • Sibling Team: She and her brother Harley form a team of monster-slaying team known within the Land of Dawn. If they're on the same team, they get a slight increase of HP.
  • Sniper Rifle: Of course, as the token sniper character, why wouldn't Lesley be wielding a sniper rifle? It belonged to her dead father, by the way.

"Need some stitches? I can help... Hehehehe..."

Melissa is a daughter of a seamstress who came from the famed House Paxley with their talents in magic, but decided to run away with her father and living a simple life. Unfortunately, his father ran off for other reasons, leaving the mother and Melissa in poverty. Still, before passing away, her mother gave her one hand-made doll as a lucky charm. Eventually, her father returned, apologizing for leaving the two and tried to make up for his absence by bringing Melissa into a new family he eloped with.

Unfortunately, the daughter of that new family, Melissa's stepsister, was an obnoxious bully who bullied Melissa based on their economy class. At one point, she even tore Melissa's doll from her mother and mockingly offered her own 'high class' doll to replace such ugly doll. In front, Melissa accepted, but she then secretly modified the doll to look like the sister. Then she would use it as a punching bag in case she got bullied. Until one day, she discovered that somehow, there is a voodoo effect within the doll: If Melissa hit the doll, her stepsister got hit too.

Melissa got her full revenge during the day her stepsister went for a piano recital and screwed it up on purpose by utilizing the voodoo effects of her doll. She ran away from her new home, returning to her old home and then re-establishing it as something more than a seamstress store, where she would take on any jobs, and her magic doll, the one that her mother gave her and she never discarded, would be able to solve them no problem.

Business is doing good, until Melissa is visited by Yin who wants her to exorcise the evil spirit Lieh from his body for good. Melissa decides to use him as a servant, but his kindhearted nature instead screws up her business ventures and Melissa is still nowhere near exorcising Lieh. The Blood Demon Queen, Alice, then shows up in trying to bring Lieh to her side, and Melissa makes a run for it with Yin... At this point, Melissa officially becomes the second member of the Forsaken Light group and she'll be involved further in discovering the truth of the world.

  • Barrier Warrior: Unlike the average ADC Melissa has tools to manage enemys that get in her face with her ultimate, Cuddles puts a movable barrier around melissa and gives her a small defense stats boost while in the barrier, and just by learning the ultimate Melissa gains a permanent defense boost to magic and physical damage.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Played with, given that when it comes to stats Melissa's needles are above average in damage, she can spam her needles alright, but each individual needle is very strong.
  • Cute and Psycho: Very girly and likes dolls and her mother, but also makes doll metaphors while in battle as she kills her enemys.
  • Heroic BSoD: Her basic skin's full art has her shocked and crying looking at a picture of herself with her mother.
  • Living Toys: Melissa's dolls are animated through her own magic, but cuddles serves as a vessel for Melissa's mom.
  • Mama Bear: Melissa's mother controls Cuddles one of Melissas dolls, and as shown in-game, she does more damage than whatever Melissa does at the time, also she protects melissa in her ultimate.
  • Manchild: Female example, addresses herself as a good girl and hes very infantile mannerisms.
  • Ninja Run: When under the effect of a speed boost she runs like this.
  • Skip of Innocence: Her default walking animation.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Her passive gives her a damage boost towards creeps in general, minions and summons, this trope however is played with, its not like she does not care about non humans, the implication is that giving how much of a professional she is with her own summons/minions, destroying such simple creatures is no problem for her.

    Miya, Moonlight Archer

"I am the moonlight that breaks through the darkness."
Voiced by: Christina Clark (English), Miho Morisaki (Japanese), Kotori Koiwai (Japanese, Adventure)

Miya is the Elven Priestess of the Moon and sister of the Elven King Estes. She's a peace-lover, but insistent in her cred that they must fight to protect their people. She worshipped the Moon Goddess that granted the Elves a safe zone with her power, and didn't quite lose faith despite how it proved futile against the demon invasion by Thamuz and Alice, which costed her clan's Tree of Life. The second invasion is imminent, led by the Orc Balmond, and Miya takes it upon herself to defend her Azrya Woodlands with her silver bow and faith for the sleeping Moon Goddess that granted her the power to utilize moon powers to enhance her combat.

Miya, the Series Mascot herself, is a Marksman hero that utilizes the power of the moon to stealth herself and rain many arrows to destroy her oppositions.

  • Her Passive is Moon Blessing. Miya increases her attack speed in 5 stacks for 4 seconds as long as Miya hits an enemy. Once she reaches full stack, Miya summons a Moonlight Shadow, a copy of herself, to aid her attacks. The shadow does not carry attack effects, but procs critical hits.
  • Her first skill is Moon Arrow. Miya enters a state where she shoots 3 arrows instead. Her main target will suffer enhanced damage, but the other targets only receive 30% of them.
  • Her second skill is Arrow of Eclipse. Miya shoots to the sky and the arrow lands to an area to the ground, immobilizing those caught in the area while also dealing damage. The arrow then splits into multiple mini arrows, dealing minor damage to those in the area and slowing them.
  • Her Ultimate is Hidden Moonlight. Miya cleanses herself from all debuffs and enters stealth mode with improved movement speed. Once she breaks stealth, her Passive is immediately maxed out, allowing Miya to deliver her maximum potential in an instant.

  • Art Evolution: She has gone through several iterations of her art style. When she was created, she didn't even have a ponytail.
  • Our Elves Are Different: She's a combo of both Wood Elves and High Elves, living a regal lifestyle in the forests, but she's not too condescending herself
  • Long-Lived: Elves like her in general has very long lifespan.
  • Magikarp Power: Miya is generally one of the harder carries in the game. She has MINIMUM mobility (which makes her laning phase nightmarish when almost everyone has a gap closer), even her ult wouldn't do much if the enemy has non-targeted skills and can guess where she is going. However, if she's ever given time to farm and has the proper backup from her supports, don't be surprised if she starts shooting you to death in a few shots while using her bow like a machine gun.
  • Multi Shot: Moon Arrow allows her to shoot multiple enemies at once with great accuracy as a replacement of her normal attack.
  • Series Mascot: She's always the character who appeared in the Mobile Legends logo, since she is the game's oldest champion.
  • Ship Tease: Alucard once visited her Azrya Woodlands, and he ends up teaming up with Miya to repel the forces of demons. They had to separate due to species differences, but Miya has grown fond of him, developing a crush on him, but not enough to become one of the Official Couple of the series. They do get a Valentine skin pair together, though.
  • Skill Gate Characters: Aside of Layla, Miya is most likely your very first Marksman you get. And it's from her you'll learn most of the basics of marksmen, in terms of positioning and repositioning (with her ult)

    Wanwan, Agile Tiger
Voiced by: Jaclyn Castaneda (English), Akane Fujikawa (Japanese, both main game and Adventure)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlbb_wanwan.png
"Tee-hee! To me, fun is all that matters!"
Her full name is "Tang Wanwan". She is born from the Tangmen faction, known for their mastery in weapons. Her father, the leader of the faction, saw how their weapons were used by themselves for evil. So he confiscated all their weapons, disbanded the faction, and lived in solitude in the forests, raising Wanwan alone. She found a wounded Yu Zhong and nursed him back to health, befriending him as she grew up, but Yu Zhong left. Wanwan later learned his true darker nature thanks to Zilong, Baxia and Ling, and tried to appeal for Yu Zhong's humanity. But it turned out that Yu Zhong was just manipulating her innocence to keep his artifact in a safe place and used her to retrieve it, now he's able to keep his sanity while maintaining his newfound great power. Wanwan now settles in Dragon Altar as one of the Oriental Fighters, training under the Great Dragon along with Zilong, Baxia, and Ling. She has to prepare for any cases that her "old friend" is back.

Wanwan is an Archer hero specializing in swift movement, strafing on every attacks and trying to expose her target's weak points until she can unload her deadly finisher.
  • Her passive is Tiger Pace. When Wanwan damages an enemy hero, she exposes their weak spot. She deals true damage to enemies hit on their weak spot. If every of their spots have been exposed, then Wanwan deals even more extra damage on that target. Additionally, everytime Wanwan launches her normal attack (hitting or not), she dashes to a direction. The dash speed scales with her attack speed.
  • Her first skill is Swallow's Path. Wanwan shoots a swallow-shaped projectile made of daggers from her crossbow, dealing damage to enemies in the path and also activating her passive. For every half a second, one dagger returns to Wanwan, dealing lesser damage to and slowing the enemy hit by it(up to 3 times). If the same enemy is hit by two returning daggers, they are stunned.
  • Her second skill is Needles in Flowers. Wanwan removes crowd control and shoots to an area circular around her, dealing damage. This can also trigger her passive.
  • Her ultimate is Crossbow of Tang. Passively, Wanwan deals more damage against creeps, with more extra damage per each level. The ultimate can only be activated if there is an enemy hero who has their 3 weak spots exposed by Wanwan's passive. Once that's done, Wanwan leaps to the air, becoming invincible and rapidly shoots that hero with her crossbow, all the attacks also procures item effects. She shoots more based on her attack speed. If her initial target dies before the skill ends, the skill duration is extended by 1 second and Wanwan changes her target while increasing her own attack speed, regardless if they have their weak spots exposed or not.

  • Anime Chinese Girl: The token female Chinese physical fighter (albeit ranged), and her hair is kept in Odango Hair style.
  • Automatic Crossbows: The Crossbow of Tang can be put on one wrist, and it automatically shoots bolts like crazy.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She views Yin as her childhood sweetheart.
  • Covert Pervert: She looks like she's not minding about love or boys. However, one of her lines makes her express that she wants to see Ling wearing a girl's cloth, like it or not, for no apparent reason other than possibly slight fetish.
  • Dub Name Change: She's rendered as 'Kohaku' in the Japanese version, mostly because in Japanese, 'Wanwan' is the onomatopoeia of a dog barking.
  • The Four Gods: Of the Oriental Fighters, she represents the White Tiger/Báihǔ/Byakko. This is because she has tiger-ish feature within her. Her fighting style also involve multiple sidestepping, like a tiger leaping from place to place.
  • Fragile Speedster: Good luck catching Wanwan when she shoots you from afar and keeps sidestepping away from you each time she shoots. And even moreso, her ultimate has her leap to the sky to shoot you even more in blazing speed, so just when you thought you had her cornered, she still has ANOTHER way to evade you. She doesn't deal burst damage, but her continuous sustained damage is enough to rile you up and makes her a strong meta pick.
  • The Heart: Fills this role in the Oriental Fighters. Aside of being the token girl, stat-wise, despite her crossbow, Wanwan is the most inexperienced and weakest (albeit extremely skilled). But she has the greatest charisma and heart; she has the most interaction with fellow Oriental Fighters, she still tries to appease to Yu Zhong's humanity even after his betrayal and how he is never going to look back, and she also snaps Yin out of the possession of Lieh based on their pure friendship.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Despite designated as a human, apparently she has several tiger traits, including whiskers and tail.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Yu Zhong gave her a primordial spirit as a keepsake and good luck charm. It'd protect her, he said... Truth is, he just gave her because it's the safest place and he predicted that she'll retrieve it to him so he can keep his own power in check and resume his ambition rather than going back to the path of good. Wanwan is heartbroken at this realization.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She used to befriend Yu Zhong. Unfortunately, he's not the kind man she thought he was.
