Clover

     In General
  • Amazon Brigade: Yoke aside, the party is made up of inexperienced but highly-talented female adventurers.
  • Famed In-Story: Under Yoke's leadership, Clover achieves rapid fame and success starting from Yoke one-shotting a boss using support magic, and they just keep getting more famous.

     Yoke Feldio

Well, since you all said it, guess there's no problem with me leaving the party, but before I go. Simon, FUCK YOU!!!
The leader of Clover and The One Guy, not to mention The Protagonist. In chapter 1, he has had enough of Thunder Pike treating him as "dead weight" and utterly refusing to provide him the respect he deserves, as well as proper compensation for his efforts. The party mocks his complaints, telling him they don't need him, and Simon, the leader, tells him point blank, to apologize and then it can all be written off as a joke. Yoke, enraged, cries out "Fuck YOU!!" while flipping them the bird and quits on the spot.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Yoke happily signs on, founds, and leads Clover because his three disciples, Marina, Silk, and Rain, treat him with the respect he deserves and show him gratitude for teaching them the ropes to become adventurers.
  • Chick Magnet: Women tend to gravitate to him and it's justified by his calm, kind, patient, and doting nature.
  • Deal with the Devil: When the party Clover has been captured by Persephone, the (in universe) Goddess Of Death, he signs a contract with her to hand over his soul in exchange for being spared. She technically complies, but then employs Exact Words by doing nothing to stop her guardian monsters from going after Clover.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: He quit Thunder Pike in a rage because they just couldn't resist mocking and insulting him, despite all his hard work in providing support and logistics, even having him go into a deficit because they refused to share enough of the loot and rewards for him to even pay for the materials he used to provide their potions and other consumables.
  • Flipping the Bird: He gives Thunder Pike the middle finger as he's quitting.
  • Jack of All Trades: His greatest strength as a red mage is that he can do just about anything and fill almost any role the party requires. Thunder Pike had him do odd-jobs as a handy-man that they thought beneath them, and then, because the work wasn't on-camera, stiffed him. In Clover, he's The Leader and this allows him to be as flashy as he wants while letting the girls fill the roles they fit best and covering their weaknesses.
  • A Magic Contract Comes with a Kiss: Persephone's contract with him is sealed by her kissing him in the ear, leaving a nice Power Tattoo.
  • Mercy Kill: Performs one on the monster that Simon became after the Amulet of Reincarnation turned him into a twisted mass of pain and suffering.
  • Precision F-Strike: He yells out "FUCK YOU!!" to Simon and Thunder Pike to get them to finally realize he's not joking when he said he was quitting.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Thunder Pike had been abusing and exploiting him for five years, with Simon never, ever listening to his constant warnings, lectures, and complaints. In chapter 1, he finally had enough when they not only had him go into a deficit because they refused to give him enough of a share of the rewards to buy the materials he needs to brew the potions and other consumables, but laughed at him and pointedly told him he's dead weight and a weakling, and they can do just fine without him. For some strange reason, they have the gall to be surprised that Yoke takes them at their word and quits.
  • Red Mage: His official adventuring class in the story, which tends to be looked down on.
  • Relative Button: He views the female members of his party as family, and messing with them will guarantee to piss him off.
  • Take This Job and Shove It: In chapter 1, he's had enough of Thunder Pike exploiting him and treating him like garbage, leaving him in a deficit where he can't even afford the materials needed to make the tools and consumables that their lives depend on being the last straw. Rather than listen to his complaints, like they said they would, they mock him the instant he brings up the fact that he's not getting near enough pay for his services and tell him he's a weakling they can do just fine without. Naturally, he takes them at their word and gives them a Precision F-Strike while Flipping the Bird and quits on the spot. Only Jaime ever realizes he was right to do so, and then only because she takes his place as the party's whipping boy, since she's a Support Party Member.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: He is very reluctant to kill people and always seeks other options. If he is cornered, however, he won't hesitate to leave them in a situation that would result in certain death, or worse.
  • Uncertified Expert: Since he's a Red Mage, society at large refused to take note of his achievements, throwing all the credit to Simon and Thunder Pike. Then he started leading Clover and showcased what he can do with his unique, self-made, and patented spells, in very flashy fashion.
  • Vow of Celibacy: Though Yoke is very, very interested in the girls of Clover, the reason they're content to live under the same roof as him is that the ground rules state one person, one bedroom, and never shall two be in one bed.

     Marina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/27_o_7.jpg
Master! Please lead our party just like you lead us in adventuring school!
The first of the party that Yoke meets after quitting Thunder Pike. He rescues her from a thug who goes totally ape-shit because she refused to accept the drink he was buying. The thug has to be slammed to the ground with <Gravity> magic before he stops trashing the place and making death-threats.
  • Audience Surrogate: Marina tends to be the team member that doesn't know details such as the governing organizations of the country and adventurers as well as the identity of the various VIPs. She also doesn't know other details considered common knowledge. As a result, she has to have these things explained to her for her benefit and the benefit of the audience.
  • Big Eater: In chapter 2 of the manga, she has two dozen empty plates in front of her as she's saying "I'm full. I'm delighted."
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: She's extremely naive but friendly, and thinks nothing of cuddling up next to Yoke in lingerie, glomping him, or taking her clothes off in the middle of a dungeon to wash off.
  • Magic Knight: Though her job is [Swordmage], she's a swordsman who can use a variety of spells.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: Joining up with Yoke and forming the party Clover is the best deal for both of them. Yoke gets the pay and recognition he deserves, and the rest of the party prosper under his guidance, as opposed to their previous adventuring experience where they went unappreciated and underpaid due to having professions that are normally looked down on.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Pinkish hair and a total sweetheart who wouldn't harm a fly without damn good reason.

     Silk
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3_o_19.jpg
The dark elf Ranger/Elementor.
  • Elemental Powers: As an elementor, she wields element based magic.
  • Forest Ranger: One of her jobs is Ranger and aside from having no issue being in a city, she plays the role as written, even controlling plant growth.
  • Token Non-Human: Prior to Nene joining the party, as a result of being placed with them for her reintegration into society, she was the only non-human, being a dark elf.

     Rain
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/18_o_9.jpg
That guy Veigo keeps coming at me. It wouldn't be so bad if he was actually capable, but he's not.
The priest/mage of the party. She's blue-haired and shy.
  • Shrinking Violet: She tends to be very shy and skittish. Yoke is the only guy she feels completely comfortable with.
  • Sleepy Head: She tends to be drowsy almost constantly, and it's not insomnia to blame.

     Nene
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/777c08679eab32378b9f142a316a77ab.jpg
Ahh! I'm going to be late!!!
A Cat Girl crime slave that is sent to the party Clover to explore The Very Definitely Final Dungeon as part of her criminal sentence.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Her outfit exposes her belly and she's one of the most feminine of the members or Clover.
  • Cat Girl: She's got cat's ears, tail, and claws. Helps with the agility she needs to be an effective [Thief].
  • Happiness in Slavery: Of the lesser evil variety. She's a former adventurer who was slapped into slavery as a result of some unstated crime. She's relieved to be a member of Clover because they still see her as an equal.
  • Lovable Rogue: She's a [Thief] and is just as adorable as all the other girls of Clover.
  • Made a Slave: In lieu of being locked up in a dungeon, or worse, she was enslaved and forcefully made a member of Clover to pay her debt to society as a result of some yet unstated crime.

Thunder Pike

     As a whole
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8_o_93.jpg
If you apologize now, we'll just let it go as a joke! You should be grateful we're willing to carry a dead weight like you!
  • Asshole Victim: The ultimate fate of the party (except for Jamie) being ripped to pieces (or worse for the two women) by Orcs, while horrific, it's very hard to feel sympathy for them.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: All of their attempts to replace Yoke or force him back into the party publicly blow up in their faces, gradually destroying their reputation and careers as adventurers.
  • Engineered Public Confession: Amazingly, Thunder Pike does this to themselves when they confront Clover outside the Endless Dungeon and try to steal their intel and loot under the flimsy excuse that because the teams are allies, the "superior" team is entitled to all of the rewards despite not even stepping into the dungeon. Thunder Pike had a magical webcam running the whole time, hoping that either Yoke would submit and Thunder Pike could take credit for their achievements and humiliate their rivals on a live broadcast, or that Simon would goad Yoke into attacking him and appear to be the victim of an "unprovoked" attack. This almost comes to pass when Simon starts hurling racist and sexist insults at Silk, Yoke's Dark Elf teammate and insinuating Yoke only keeps her around as a sex toy, but Silk calms Yoke with a Cooldown Hug and tells him to ignore his former teammates. The next day, Thunder Pike learns that their broadcast has caused an international incident with the Elves, utterly destroyed what little standing they had left with the guild, and will result in the revocation of their adventurer licenses, exile from the country, and even their possible execution for publicly embarrassing the King.
  • Entitled Bastard: Yoke Feldio bent over backwards on a repeated basis to provide support magic, healing potions, intel, and all sorts of logistics, but because his actions weren't camera worthy, they paid him in peanuts, putting him in a deficit. When he threatens to quit as a result, they mock him, and when they "graciously" ask him to air his complaints, interrupt him half-way and act as if they're doing him a favor by exploiting the hell out of him. Simon, especially, tells him he's only there because they used to be childhood friends, and if he apologizes, Yoke's complaint can be written off as a joke. They have the gall to be surprised that Yoke cries out "Fuck You!!" and flips them the bird as he quits.
  • Face–Heel Turn: While they were never nice people, at the start of the storyline they were a legitimate adventuring party (though mostly because of Yoke's magic and intellect) with many accomplishments. But after Yoke leaves, their fortunes take a turn for the worse very quickly, and their attempts to return to their former glory cause them to commit increasingly evil acts to try to destroy Clover and get revenge on Yoke for "abandoning" them.
  • Fantastic Racism: They believe fairy tales that Dark Elves betrayed the elven kingdom and humanity by willingly hooking up with orcs and siring an orc army, and think nothing of spouting that trash on live camera, even knowing that it's an abject insult. The fact that orcs breed by rape never enters their consciousness, until the female members find themselves on the receiving end.
  • Hate Sink: They are very, very easy to hate with their entitled attitude, laziness, abject racism, and utter insistence that they are "heroes" who can do no wrong, in spite of all the empirical evidence against them. Only Jamie manages to avoid this and even then it takes a Heel Realization by being Left for Dead that begins her Character Development.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Over the course of the story, they go from being one of the top-ranked, most famous adventuring parties in the world, to international pariahs who are rightly seen as utter failures by their fellow adventurers and the rest of the world.
  • Never My Fault: While Simon is the worst at it, all of them clearly believe they can't possibly do anything wrong, and all the setbacks they faced after they drove Yoke to quit by neglect and abuse are undeserved, no matter who calls them out on it. Jamie, the wizard, is the only one who has a Heel Realization, and then only because the rest turned on her when she ran out of magic as a result of Yoke no longer being in the party to provide the mana potions she needs.
  • Removing the Crucial Teammate: Played With, in that Yoke removed himself from the party due to their constantly exploiting and mocking him for being The Load, rather than be kicked out. When he formally quits the team, the other members simply laugh at him and claim he'll be begging to be let back into Thunder Pike in a matter of days. However, that doesn't happen when Yoke joins Clover, and suddenly Thunder Pike find themselves unable to conquer even medium-level dungeons without Yoke's support magic enhancing their abilities, his generous supply of potions to heal and replenish their mana, and his knowledge of dungeons, monsters, cooking, and basic strategy. When they attempt to replace Yoke with new hires, they learn that not only can the newbies not match Yoke's skill level, but none of them have his patience for Thunder Pike's idiocy and arrogance, and all the replacements quit after a day or two.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Their success is entirely because of Yoke being so good he is able to compensate for all of their shortcomings, but not once did they show any appreciation for his contributions. Even after he left and they do far worse without him, they still act entitled to his help.

     Simon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4_o_16.jpg
That's right. I won't let them have any achievements... Oh. Yoke is always caring about his girls. If I poke a little bit more, I can have him start a scandal on his own. I will have him socially disappear right now!
The leader of Thunder Pike. He is the most arrogant, entitled, and stupid of the bunch, but don't tell him that. As far as he's concerned, he's the smartest, most handsome, bravest, and popular man alive, a true hero who can do no wrong. Yoke should have been grateful to be exploited by the party.
  • All Take and No Give: In his mind, being his friend means you do everything humanly possible to make him look good, let him take the credit for your achievements and efforts, let him have all the glory and the vast majority of the rewards, and you should be grateful for his "generosity" in letting you eat the leftover crumbs in obscurity. If you complain about it, he's the wounded party.
  • And I Must Scream: After the orcs rip him to shreds, his cursed Medallion of Reincarnation continually revives what's left of his body into a barely-humanoid mass of flesh and tentacles straight out of AKIRA, screaming in agony and cursing Yoke's name.
  • Believing Their Own Lies: He tells anyone and everyone that Yoke left in a tiff because Yoke is an ingrate who contributed nothing to the party but wanted the majority of the rewards, instead of being grateful to be in the party at the benevolence of Simon for being a childhood friend, rather than the truth that Yoke carried the party and was forced off camera, and then paid peanuts because he was off camera. He also tells himself and anyone who will listen that his racist insults against Silk are the unvarnished truth, and that he and Yoke were in a joint party expedition into The Very Definitely Final Dungeon when this is not so. When Yoke calls him out on it, and the consequences of his racist rants literally smack him in the face, he goes after Yoke again and has his party hold Yoke's party at sword-point, after the latter just barely escaped a literal encounter with death to force Yoke to sign a magic contract stating that the assertion was true, so he can exploit Yoke's party to the end. Fortunately for Clover, the dungeon takes exception to that and sends a battalion of orcs their way. Clover escapes, thanks to being prepared. Thunder Pike, who believes preparation is a degrading waste of time, doesn't fare well.
  • Devoured by the Horde: When Clover escapes besiegement by a battalion of orcs, thanks to using the [Escape] scroll the Guild Master prepared for them in case of emergency, the scroll didn't take Thunder Pike along, seeing as the scroll only brings friendly targets, and Yoke clearly didn't think the guys who threatened his party are friends. The orcs, being orcs, literally tear him limb from limb and eat him alive, along with his other male party member. And the men were the lucky ones.
  • Did Not Think This Through:
    • Which the Guild Master calls him out on. He shouts racist and sexist insults against Silk, on camera, intending to provoke Yoke to attack him, so he can call himself the wounded party because Yoke attacked him on camera "unprovoked." First, Silk holds Yoke back so he doesn't rightly lash out. Second, Thunder Pike, as part of the rank-up to A-rank, signed a legally binding agreement that their words would carry the weight of the kingdom and bear the support of the king. They needed to be very, very careful what they said. His racist tirade ignited an international incident, and the worst case scenario would have been the execution of every current member of Thunder Pike to soothe international relations. It was that bad.
    • He stole an ultra-rare cursed artifact called the Medallion of Reincarnation, thinking it would make him immortal and untouchable in combat. Unfortunately, he never read the "fine print"; that the medallion would regenerate his body (or the pieces left of it after the orcs ripped him to bits) over and over again in increasingly painful and horrific forms, forever.
  • Entitled to Have You: Of the exploitative "friend" variety. Even after Yoke quit the party in a rage, Simon honestly believed he could boss Yoke around, sending a magical summon to "recruit" him back to the party, after learning Yoke's the leader of Clover. Yoke lampshades that this is a criminal act. When Yoke replies with a "no," he goes apoplectic and instantly challenges Yoke in public, right in the guild. Yoke responds with a scathing, but calm, "The Reason You Suck" Speech, and the rest of the guild responds with mockery to which he can't retaliate because he can't see the source even though he can hear it. He storms out of the guild swearing vengeance. What's worse, after threatening Clover and Yoke himself, as Yoke and party teleport away from the battalion of orcs, he has the gall to be shocked that Yoke doesn't see him as a friend per the magical terms of the [Escape] scroll, just before orcs grab him and literally tear him apart.
  • Fantastic Caste System: As far as Simon is concerned, the only measure of a person's worth is their Guild Rank. If you're A-rank like he is, you might be worth talking to and working together (provided it benefits him). If you're B-rank or lower, you're practically a waste of skin who should feel incredibly lucky to even be in the same room as a "great man" like him.
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • The reason Simon hated Yoke so much was that Yoke managed to be happy despite being from an unprivileged background and possessing a common class, whereas Simon was from a privileged background and had a rare Knight class. He found the very idea that Yoke could be successful and content despite his social disadvantages to be offensive.
    • Becomes a literal example after Simon's body is resurrected by a stolen artifact after the orcs tore him to pieces, turning him into a twisted mass of flesh and tentacles powered solely by his jealousy and utter hatred of Yoke.
  • Hidden Depths: Very very hidden depths in his case, but in Simon's final moments he reveals that he actually understood Yoke's potential and skill level years ago. However, his massive ego couldn't handle the idea that a "pathertic sidekick Red Mage" like Yoke could be more powerful and useful to the party than a Knight like Simon, and he was overcome by fear that if Yoke ever figured that out, he'd leave Thunder Pike and threaten their livelihood. So, Simon began verbally abusing Yoke and paying him the bare minimum for his efforts, hoping to destroy his self-esteem and keep him bound to the party and under Simon's thumb forever.
  • It's All About Me: Simon firmly believes that he is The Protagonist and that he deserves all the accolades, and resents Yoke for being a better fit for that role than he is. When Thunderpike is faced with an army of orcs, Simon tries to save his own skin at the expense of his entire team, Yoke's team, and even Yoke's plan to rescue him anyway which results in Thunderpike getting left behind to die.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Subverted. His job is [Knight] and he wears shining plate-mail, but he has absolutely none of the virtues attributed to a knight, aside from inside his own head so full of his ego that there's no room for a brain.
  • Lethally Stupid: As a direct result of refusing to ever listen to Yoke, or any other supporter he hires to handle party logistics, he repeatedly puts everyone in mortal danger on a repeated basis. Because he utterly refuses to believe he can somehow be at fault, he never corrects his behavior, even if he's called out on it in public. Lastly, he uses invisibility cloaks of dubious legality, acquired from a butt-hurt noble who has designs on Rain, to sneak past the guards at the entrance to the dungeon Yoke is exploring and interrupts the exploration at the worst possible time, holding Clover at sword point, when they desperately need to escape to deliver a warning that the dungeon is about to stampede, and refuses to believe it, insisting on forcing Yoke to sign a magical contract that would make lies true, to steal accomplishments he knows aren't his. Naturally, karma's finally had enough and comes for him, for real, and there's nobody that can (or would) help him or his party at that point.
  • Loophole Abuse: At one point, he tries to conscript Yoke back into Thunder Pike using a little-known guild rule where one party can request assistance from a member of another active party if they possess a needed skill for a specific quest. The problem is, Yoke is now a team leader in Clover, so not only is he Simon's equal (something Simon would never, ever acknowledge) and thus not required to follow his orders, but forcing a team leader to leave his party against his will is a borderline criminal offense in the guild. Mamaru, who passed on the request as per her duty, gives Yoke her full permission to tell Simon to screw off, which he promptly does.
  • Miles Gloriosus: In his head, he's the world's greatest adventurer, hero, and a daring leader that the rest of Thunder Pike should feel honored to serve under. But the truth is, he's nothing more than an egomaniacal asshole whose only skill is to rush monsters head on and slash at them with his sword, and most of his successes were due to Yoke's magical enhancement. His "leadership" skills are non-existent, he simply rushes forward with no plan and without bothering to give orders to his teammates, just expecting them to back him up or be left behind. And when things go wrong, especially once Yoke leaves the party, he will blame all his shortcomings on his teammates, never himself.
  • Narcissist: He is madly in love with and married to his own bloated ego.
  • Never My Fault: Being a complete and total narcissist, he just can't accept that he's ever at fault for anything that he says, does, or happens to him.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Although he's only a hero in his own ego-filled head, his gambit in using racist and sexist tirades against Silk, knowing it was all on camera, made exploring the dungeon Eternal Darkness far more dangerous than it had to be, for everyone. Other A-rank and even S-rank parties withdrew from the exploration because their sponsors didn't want to be associated with a kingdom that actively backs such a racist, sexist, and clearly criminal scum. The recruits who were looking to sign up with his own party withdrew their applications because they didn't want to be associated with him, making it impossible for his own party to legally or safely explore the place. Clover's party, with guild backing, and clearly the victims of Simon's acts, were the only ones left who could legit check the place out, and they wound up facing severe near-death experiences that could have been avoided if the stronger and more experienced parties were still there to help.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: The longer the storyline goes on and the worse his fortunes become, the more he behaves like a complete spoiled brat, especially whenever Yoke refuses to do what he wants and serve under him again, causing Simon to throw very public and pathetic temper tantrums when refused. His anger at Yoke quickly becomes murderous, culminating in Simon and Thunder Pike attempting to enslave and murder the members of Clover for daring to fight back against them.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: For years Simon was secretly terrified that Yoke would leave Thunder Pike if he realized his true potential as a Red Mage. Unfortunately, Simon's abusive attitude and attempts to force him to stay in the party under their control backfired when he finally got fed up and quit.
  • Smug Snake: He's got a raging and completely unjustified superiority complex, not just against Yoke, but the entirety of the party of Clover, not to mention every last support member his party hired. He walks around like he's infallible, untouchable, and unbeatable. This arrogance causes every last replacement for Yoke to quit in a rage on day one and lands him in hot water internationally, but he just can't process how that could possibly be his fault. It doesn't help that he's surrounded by yes-men who convince him and themselves he's not at fault either.
  • The Sociopath: About the only thing missing is a constant need for "entertainment" though he does have an overwhelming need to hear his name praised among the masses. All the other checkmarks are there, overblown sense of his importance and ego, utter incapability to realize he's at fault for the consequences of his actions, and constantly thinks his plans are "flawless" when they're not.
  • Sore Loser: Simon can't stand being anything other than the best. The more he fails to achieve what he thinks is his due, the more unhinged he gets.
  • Stealing the Credit: After Yoke quit the party, he took to keeping his street cred and funds going by beating up younger and less experienced parties in dungeons and stealing their accomplishments. In addition, the first thing he does when he goes into Eternal Dungeon to search for any anomalies that might indicate a stampede, he walks up to Yoke and demands all of Yoke's accomplishments and treasures, on camera, insisting they're in a joint party collaboration when it's not so. He retorts to "no" by hurling out insults against Silk's entire race to try and provoke Yoke to attack him, expecting to get the rewards in compensation. The fact that he instead sparks an international incident that at best would have his party stripped of their rank just does not compute with him.
  • They Just Dont Get It: As a result of being married to his own ego, he just can't accept that he's at fault for the bad things that happen to him, the people he abused leaving his party in a rage, and the harm he causes to his party members, fame, and reputation from his total incompetence and laziness, no matter who tells him, how he's told, or even being punched in the face and asked what the hell is wrong with his head. Even the Guild Master calling him an idiot utterly fails to register. Even after the dungeon itself attacks Thunder Pike and it brings both parties into the Orc base, he still tries to go after Yoke and that led to the death of Thunder Pike.
  • Virtue Is Weakness: He genuinely believes that Yoke actually caring about his party is a vulnerability ripe for exploitation. So he hurls racist insults at Silk to provoke Yoke and then has Barry and Camilla threaten the rest of Clover after the girls had escaped a literal encounter with death by the skin of their teeth to force Yoke to sign a magical contract proclaiming that Yoke and Simon had a pre-existing joint party cooperation and all of Yoke's accomplishments were rightfully his. Unfortunately for Simon, just before Yoke signed the dotted line, the dungeon itself apparently took exception to it, because not only did the stairwell (the only safe place) collapse, a battalion of orcs homed in on where this was taking place. Jamie cast a shield spell to give Yoke time to use the [Escape] scroll and take Clover out of the dungeon, but Thunder Pike was left behind.

     Barry
The [Warrior] of the party.
  • Devoured by the Horde: Like Simon, he gets literally torn limb from limb and eaten alive by a battalion of orcs.
  • Dumb Muscle: He does the most physical attack damage of the party, and his stupidity is second only to Simon's. After all, he's not the one who shouted racist and sexist insults on live camera and then tells himself and anyone who will listen that it's all okay because it's "true."
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He's disgustingly easy to set off. After the Guild Master has chewed them out for starting an international incident, and honestly believing they've done nothing worthy of that level of backlash, he responds to the other patrons in the bar being wary by shouting insults at them and the bar staff asking them to leave, because they're causing a disturbance, by punching the guy. It's only because Veigo Salak came in and paid their bills that they didn't wind up spending a night in jail, at best, too.
  • Facial Markings: He's illustrated with a couple of lines under his left eye. Their significance is never made clear.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: When Thunder Pike has Clover at their mercy in the Endless Dungeon, Barry cruelly suggests raping Silk as revenge for getting them in trouble with the guild, and as a threat to get Yoke to sign Simon's magical slave contract.

     Camilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7_o.jpg
Don't bother me with your disgusting sophistry. If you can't stand the party, leave.
The priestess of the party.
  • Fantastic Racism: In spite of being a priestess and raised by the church, she honestly believes that the rape-shaming fairy tales that Dark Elves willingly sired an orc army as an act of treason are true.
  • Karmic Rape: She loved to rape shame the dark elf people, claiming the stories of dark elves mating with orcs willingly is the unvarnished truth. She is last seen being carried off by a legion of orcs for breeding purposes.
  • Psychological Projection: She has an unmitigated superiority complex and loves to stare down her nose at others for any inconvenience, real or imagined. When she's brought to task for anything, she claims the one berating her is the condescending snob while she's innocent of such a trait.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: In chapter 1, Yoke turns to her for validation in his claims that he's not some "dead weight weakling" and his efforts deserve a bigger share of the rewards, at a minimum, considering she's the one who most benefits from his actions. Her response is "don't drag me into your nasty sophistry. If you don't like being in the party, shut up and leave."

     Jamie
The mage of the party.
  • Action Survivor: Although she doesn't escape with Clover, she does manage to hide her existence with the same invisibility cloak she was provided as part of Thunder Pike's infiltration to hide herself from the orc battalion, escaping notice in the chaos.
  • Caught on Tape: Does this to Thunder Pike and Veigo Salak, providing documentation of their crimes and conspiracy, and leaves it for Yoke to find.
  • Heel Realization: In chapter 1, she's one of the party members mocking Yoke the loudest. When Thunder Pike left her for dead, she realized Yoke had a point, but she stays in the party because she lacks prospects if she tries to leave.
  • Left for Dead: When she's critically injured because Simon did not bother to prepare properly on a dungeon dive, just presuming that all the work Yoke did for the party was window dressing, and their previous successes would go the same way without him, Thunder Pike flees in the face of the monsters, leaving her behind. It's only because she was rescued by the guy they hired to replace Yoke that she survived. Unfortunately, the guy quit the party in a rage immediately afterward when Simon insisted that the unmitigated disaster was his fault and demanded compensation from him.
  • Loving Bully: After Yoke and Clover save her from the Endless Dungeon, she tearfully admits that she has been in love with him for a long time. However, she couldn't openly tell him so while they were both members of Thunder Pike, because she feared the other party members would either turn the bullying on her or kick her out if she didn't join them in abusing Yoke.
  • Peer Pressure Makes You Evil: A flashback while hiding from the orc army reveals that she was pressured into bullying Yoke by the rest of the party because she was afraid they would kick her out if she didn't. The fact that she can't afford to be kicked out because her adventuring helps pay for her little brother's treatments is a major factor in this.
  • Put on a Prison Bus: After escaping Endless Dungeon, and providing evidence to Yoke of Thunder Pike's villainy, she suffers suspension and imprisonment. In gratitude for her aid, Yoke leaves a spot open for her in Clover when her sentence ends.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: Subverted. She is left behind by Clover during the orc siege only because Yoke didn't know she had a change of heart. The instant he learns of it, he leads an expedition to come to her rescue.
  • The Scapegoat:
    • After Yoke leaves Thunder Pike, she becomes the preferred target of all their blame and ridicule whenever things go wrong for the party. Their treatment makes her understand what made Yoke quit in the first place and along with their actions in general leads her to gather evidence of their crimes to give Yoke and Benwood.
    • Unfortunately for her this applies to her as a member of Thunder Pike in general as their reputations take repeated poundings with her unwillingness, more inability, to speak out or even quit the party paints her with same brush as the rest of her teammates. This comes to a head following Simon's broadcast tirade of sexual and racist remarks against Silk: despite not speaking in defense of her teammate's actions or arguing against the Guild Master, she also faces the possibility of exile or even execution for Simon sparking an international incident along with the rest of them.
    • As the Sole Survivor of Thunder Pike following events in Eternal Darkness, Jamie is the one held to task for the group's collective crimes. Fortunately, she's welcomed into Clover and promised a place once her ban on being an adventurer is lifted.
  • Trapped in Villainy: Due to lacking prospects if she tried to quit the party, she stays with Thunder Pike even after they left her to die in the face of monsters. She repeatedly tries to get Simon to stop going after Yoke, to no avail.

Adventurer's Guild

     Mamar

Oh dear. This is just unacceptable. Yoke, you can use one spell to deal with this.
The guild's top receptionist.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's a sweet, maternal woman who mentors younger adventurers like Yoke and the girls in Clover. But, if you cross her or pick fights with guild members, she won't hesitate to bring out the vicious side of her, as Simon finds out.
  • Retired Badass: She used to be a legendary adventurer in her younger days (being an elf, those "days" were decades ago), now serving as the receptionist at the guild hall.
  • Sexy Secretary: She's Benwood's secretary in addition to being a receptionist and she's very appealing.
  • Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: She may come across as a harmless secretary, but she's strong enough to silence Simon with ease.

     Benwood
The guild master.
  • Large and in Charge: He's a giant, at least a head taller than Yoke, who is pretty big himself, and at least twice as wide, and runs the guild.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He bends the rules as much as he can for Yoke because the latter is honest, hardworking, trustworthy, and reliable. He comes down on Thunder Pike because they're entitled twits with egos so big they don't have any room in their heads for brains.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: When Simon has triggered an international incident with his careless insults against the entire dark elf race to try and provoke Yoke, Benwood calls out the entire party of Thunder Spike and berates them as the idiots they are for thinking sparking an international incident is not something that they should be held to task for.
  • Scars Are Forever: He has a scar across his left eye.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Every time Simon tried to protest that his racist rants on live camera, not to mention the scathing insults against Clover, were insignificant and couldn't possibly be enough of an issue to merit dragging Thunder Pike into the guild master's office, Benwood punches Simon in the face mid sentence to try and turn Simon's brain to the "on" position and make him realize just how far up the creek he is. Simon's ego is so big that no matter how much the Guild Master punches out of him, he's always got much, much more and if there is a brain in Simon's head, it's entirely vestigial. Simon only realizes he's in trouble when Benwood tells him the king is angry and looking to exile the entire party.
  • Stepping Out for a Quick Cup of Coffee: When Yoke wants to rescue Jamie from Endless Darkness, despite it being about to be sealed off for good the next day, Benwood is convinced by Yoke's reasoning to 'rest' for the morning and oversee the sealing in the afternoon instead of as soon as possible.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: When he hears Thunder Pike's pathetic attempts to justify their behaviour towards Yoke and Clover, he openly wonders how a bunch of idiots like them could ever rise to A-rank.

Nobles

     Veigo Salak
A very, very insistent noble of unknown rank who has absolutely convinced himself that Rain is his destined romantic partner and will not stop pursuing her, no matter the cost nor setbacks, until he's hit with a supernatural restraining order, backed by Persephone, with the penalty of death if he doesn't back off.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: He's a noble of unknown rank and uses his status of nobility to try and excuse his repeated acts of villainy against Clover to try and lay claim to Rain, regardless of her many, many refusals and protests.
  • Blaming the Victim: Implied to have done it indirectly. When Simon first unleashes his racist tirade against Silk, the press held Simon to task. After Thunder Pike started being sponsored by Veigo, the press not only downplayed Simon's antics as a common human adventurer failing, but started to speculate that Yoke actively entrapped Simon by pretending the camera was off when it wasn't, as the tirade happened during a time that cameras aren't normally watching.
  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: He sponsors Thunder Pike financially for their common purpose of spiting Yoke.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Veigo and his family spent years trafficking in illegal magic artifacts that were supposed to be turned over to the Adventurer's Guild after quests, but were instead sold for a hefty profit on the black market. His providing illegal stealth armour and magical slave collars to Thunder Pike exposes the whole operation, bringing the Salaks and their generations-old merchant house down in a matter of days.
  • Determinator: In his one-sided quest to get at Rain, he pointedly does not give up. He comes at Yoke with a sword in a crowded street and is hit with debuffs to make him look like a drunk idiot. He breaks into Clover's base in the middle of the night with henchmen and gets arrested. He hires Thunder Pike to go after Clover, specifically Yoke, in [Endless Dungeon]. It's only when Yoke, who has had enough, and has signed a contract with Persephone, uses a death curse to force him to stop does he finally get the message.
  • Entitled to Have You: He is absolutely, positively convinced that he is the perfect romantic and adventuring partner for Rain, and refuses to believe a little thing like her refusal has any merit against him.
  • Fat Bastard: He's overweight and absolutely convinced Rain is his romantic partner by birthright, willing to do any act of villainy to lay hands on her. The fact that she refuses him is just her playing "hard to get."
  • Lured into a Trap: After Veigo's connection to Thunder Pike is exposed in the Endless Dungeon, Yoke and Clover set a trap for him by making him think Rain will be home alone, and Veigo eagerly takes the bait to try to kidnap and enslave her.
  • Miles Gloriosus: He loves to proclaim he's a great adventurer, and holds his father's name, who was a bold and powerful adventurer, to back it up. He himself is, at best, an E-rank, which is rather on the weak side. He can't back up his boasts, at all.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: He comes at Yoke with a sword because Clover chose Yoke to be the party leader and The One Guy, not Veigo Salak.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Like his ally Simon, Velgo is an utterly spoiled brat of a man who refuses to take no for an answer. When he breaks into Clover's home with a pair of his henchmen, his internal monologue outlines his plan to use slave collars to mind control Rain and the other girls in Clover, rape them in front of Yoke, then force Rain to murder him.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: He was planning to use mind-control collars to force the female members of Clover to have sex with him for his own sick pleasure.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: He's rich and corrupt, and thinks he can do whatever he wants to whoever he wants simply because he's a noble.
  • Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil: All his other attempts to go after Rain were just a nuisance to the entirety of Clover, but when this lout hired Thunder Pike to slap Rain with a slavery collar, illegally, in order to not only hold Silk hostage in Eternal Darkness, but so she'd be helpless if he ever commanded her to go with him, Yoke decides this guy has just renounced his right to life and hits him with an unbreakable death curse where if he goes after Rain again, for any reason, he's just going to drop dead on the spot.
  • Stalker with a Crush: He stalks Rain everywhere in order to try and force her into romantic relationships with him.
  • Stay in the Kitchen: He hounded the girls who would later become members of Clover by partying with Yoke, proclaiming they "needed a man's strength." For their part, the girls think it wouldn't have been so bad if he actually had the ability to back up his claims, but he clearly doesn't, seeing as he's officially an E-rank adventurer.

Others

     Persephone
The (in universe) Goddess of Death and the Underworld. In Eternal Darkness, she appears on one of the floors as a kindly old woman inviting Clover into her home for tea and cookies, but this is an illusion. In the blink of an eye, the tiny cottage transforms into a mansion and Yoke finds himself one step outside its boundaries, with the old lady having changed into a very buxom and dangerous woman. A moment later, she sports the appearance of a child at "twilight" capturing the party with malevolent flora. In order to escape with their lives, Yoke proposes a Deal with the Devil, which she accepts, but "night" falls and her really big monsters come out to play.
  • Deal with the Devil: In return for freeing Clover, she takes custody of Yoke's very soul and yanks it from the cycle of reincarnation.
  • Everybody Hates Hades: She rules the underworld and is both hated and feared, with good reason.
  • Exact Words: She holds true to her promise to let Clover go in exchange for Yoke's soul upon his death, but she does nothing to stop the monsters she summons "at night" from going after the party.
  • Physical God: She is an actual goddess and interacts with the world, personally.
  • Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: She first manifests as a kindly old woman in a cottage who offers the party tea and cookies if they step inside. She quickly reveals herself as The Goddess of Death when the illusion doesn't work.
