Universe 6 (第6宇宙, Dai roku Uchū) / The Universe of Challengers (挑戦の宇宙, Chōsen no Uchū)

Universe 6 residents were the main antagonists of the Champa Saga.

Universe 6 is the twin universe of Universe 7, being the home of alternate counterparts to the Saiyans and Frieza's race, with them being more heroic than their counterparts. The Saiyans are a race of heroes, and the universe emperor, Frost, is a noble hero beloved by many of its residents. It is also known as The Universe of Challengers.

This universe is under the supervision of the God of Destruction Champa, who appropriately enough, is Beerus' twin brother.

On the multiverse scale, Universe 6 ranked 10th in mortal level quality, being the third worst.^note In the anime, they had the second-most eliminations in the tournament, with Universe 7 being #1. In the manga, they scored the most eliminations by a very long shot.

Cessation of Existence: The fourth universe to be erased^note, as of episode 118. It's undone in episode 131.
Death by Irony: Out of all the Universes eliminated from the Tournament of Power, Universe 6 may be the most ironic way of getting erased. The universe was the last universe to lose their first fighter, which was in the same episode that Universe 10 got erased. After Frost's defeat and erasure, and with Hit’s erasure essentially being the point of no return for them, the numbers kept dropping like flies, with them getting eliminated at the exact same moment as Universe 2. To cap it off, most of their fighters in the Tournament of Power are eliminated by fighters from Universe 7, their counterpart universe, the only exception being Hit, who was eliminated by Jiren from Universe 11.
Earth That Was: Earth was rendered lifeless by pointless wars between humans. It was returned to life thanks to Super Shenron.
Face Death with Dignity: When they're erased, Fuwa handles it well, with Hit remaining fully composed, Cabba bidding Vegeta good luck and Caulifla and Kale engaging in a playful 'attack' on the Namekians who accept their fate as well. Even Champa remains fully composed, giving his brother a final playfully rude gesture in a way that seems oddly affectionate for him.
Fatal Flaw: In the Tournament of Power, despite being the last universe to lose a fighter in the tournament, they also lost fighters at an extraordinarily fast rate, especially after Frost/Magetta. The big reason to this was overconfidence.
- Botamo was confident that he was unbeatable with Magetta, which quickly got offed by Kale. Then when he was up against Gohan, he didn't expect Gohan to fire out a Kamehameha from underneath and blast him out so easily.
- Dr. Rota was confident in his "abilities" that he made a huge speech about it, leaving himself open to Hermila/Prum and Vegeta. We didn't even see such skills due to it.
- Magetta was confident blocking out his weaknesses to insults through covering his ears (first through Botamo and second through rocks) that he didn't expect someone to blast rocks and insult him, incapacitating him.
- Frost was overconfident that Frieza was betraying Universe 7, that he couldn't see that it was an act to trick him. It pissed him enough to try to attack him after getting taken out, causing him an early erasure from the Tournament of Power.
- Hit was confident that he could hold Jiren in a time cage for 25 minutes. Even if Hit was able to hold Jiren in successfully, he'd be left open to other foes, like Dyspo.
- Cabba stood out from the team, only after Frieza torturing him after defeating Monna.
- Caulifla was extremely overconfident in her abilities, feeling that she was more powerful than the other Saiyans from Universe 7. She even underestimated the Pride Troopers thinking they were "wimps".
- Kale wasn't confident in her abilities until she became a Super Saiyan, and Kale's Berserker Form was extremely careless.
- Kefla had Caulifla's overconfidence, so the newfound power made her consider herself the most powerful being in the multiverse. Considering that Ultra Instinct Goku defeated her, it could mean that someone like Jiren could've taken her out easily as well.
- The Namekians from Universe 6 seem to be confident that they can take out all of Universe 7's fighters after they are the remaining two fighters left from their universe. They intentionally stayed in the shadows to fully synchronize their fusions, but because of this they were unable to help their teammates until the burden of winning was left solely to them. Finally, despite their teamwork with each other and quite literally their planet Namek, underestimating Piccolo, a fellow Namekian, proved their downfall.
The Friends Who Never Hang: The original five members of the Universe 6 team are shown to be really cooperative when it comes to fighting, but are never shown to be friends. Justified, as is implied they first met during the Universe 7 vs. Universe 6 Tournament. While Botamo and Magetta are Those Two Guys, Cabba and Hit never really interact with them or each other. Frost, ironically, is the one who interacts with everyone sans Botamo.
The Gods Must Be Lazy: The gods of Universe 6 somehow manage to take this trope further, because both the God of Destruction and Supreme Kai are lazy. Despite this, however, they are shown to be better than Universe 7 and 9 gods, but not by much.
Good Counterpart: Universe 6 Saiyan are not a race of Space Pirates who commit genocide for fun, but a race of heroic mercenaries who fight for justice. The Emperor of the Universe, Frost, is also not an evil bastard like Frieza. At least in the manga: in the anime, Frost is A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Villain with Good Publicity, while Frieza is a Card-Carrying Villain.
Hard Work Hardly Works: Barring Universe 3, Universe 6 clearly put the most amount of effort in preparation in the tournament. They deliberately designed tactics around countering their weaknesses such as pairing Botamo and Magetta together, and planned for a potara fusion as their trump card. They brought a criminalized Frost back by acknowledging his slipperiness and cunning, and even their Namekians were worked around a survival strategy by avoiding fights until the very end where their fusion powers could stabilize. Despite all this, they still were the 4th Universe to go out, and most of their members were eliminated by Universe 7.
Humongous Mecha: The Metalmen, a race of giant robot-like beings. According to the Supreme Kai, they should also exist in Universe 7.
Mirror Universe: Universe 6 is a twin Universe, where things went a little off: In the 6th Universe, the Saiyans are a peaceful race of selfless heroes, who stopped having tails long ago and never heard of the Super Saiyan transformation, while Frieza's counterpart is a planet-trading pirate, except that he puts on a friendly face to the public and is known as a great hero. On the other hand, 6th Universe humanity was apparently so warlike that they annihilated Earth long ago. Its God of Destruction, Champa, is a vulgar brute with an even shorter-temper than his jovial-and-polite twin brother Beerus, but just like him is pampered/mothered/kept-in-check by his more mature and powerful Butler/Minder Angel, whom in this case is Whis' big sister Vados, whom essentially is a Gender Flipped version of Whis.
Trauma Conga Line: U6 started out being one of the strongest of the tournament and it was the last universe who lost its first warrior. After that, they remained U7 equals, with U6 losing Magetta and Dr Rota and U7 losing Tien and Master Roshi in the same episodes. Later, Frieza ringed Frost out and that marked the point where U6 started to lose fighters like flies, with Jiren eliminating its best warrior and one of the best tournament fighters, Hit, essentially confirming that their time is near. A few episodes later, Frieza eliminates Cabba, leaving only Caulifla, Kale and the Namekians in the ring. The two Saiyan girls decide to fuse and form an extremely powerful fighter...who is defeated by Ultra Instinct Goku. Finally, Saonel and Pilina are defeated by Piccolo and Gohan, bringing about the end of Universe 6.
Two Girls to a Team: Caulifla and Kale are the only female members of Team U6 in the Tournament of Power.
Underestimating Badassery: Though Universe 6 undeniably has some very strong fighters, in the Tournament of Power, many of them so far have been eliminated in part due to underestimating whoever they are fighting. Botamo was eliminated by Gohan when he thought Gohan's punches were useless, Frost underestimated both Roshi's determination and Frieza's cunning, Cabba really badly underestimated Frieza's strength, Kefla underestimated just how strong Ultra Instinct Goku was, and Saonel and Pilina underestimated Gohan and Piccolo's own teamwork. Even Hit to some degree underestimated just how strong Jiren is when he thought he could hold him still for the rest of the Tournament of Power. As a result of this hubris, Universe 6 is the fourth universe to be erased.
Unskilled, but Strong: A key component to the universe's downfall. Majority of the fighters (with exception to Hit) are extremely powerful, but lack experience. This is especially true of their Saiyans. While they mastered Super Saiyan with relative ease at much younger ages then Goku and Vegeta, they quickly get outclassed by the more experenced Universe 7 fighters.

Beerus' twin brother and the God of Destruction of the Sixth Universe. He seeks the seven Super Dragon Balls for an unknown purpose.

The Ace: A requirement to be appointed the God of Destruction. He officially holds the title as the strongest in Universe 6 and is Beerus' equal, although he could be little weaker given his girth. Even so, he could still destroy the universe if he desired so.
Acrofatic: During his fight against Beerus in the baseball filler episode, he demonstrates surprising flexibility with high kicks and incredibly fast blows that tear the stadium apart. Of course, it makes perfect sense since he is a God of Destruction.
Adaptational Jerkass: He is much more of a Jerkass God in the Super manga compared to the anime. He is also generally more polite to Goku and Vegeta in the anime. Episode 34 shows that he's pissed when someone as evil as Frost is fighting on his team after his true personality is revealed, despite his instructions to Vados to search for the strongest warriors in Universe 6 (not the strongest warriors with moral compasses), and was about to wipe him out until Vegeta intervened.
Adaptational Nice Guy: In the anime, he planned on killing all of the Universe 6 fighters for losing and disgracing his universe. In the manga, he's only angry with Hit (and it's unknown if he even planned on killing him) and it's because Hit threw the match on purpose against Monaka.
Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better: Pretty much his main motivation when it comes to Beerus. He wants to prove he's better than him.
Ax-Crazy: It takes a fair degree of pushing his buttons to bring it out, but he also starts sharing his brother's psychosis when his team loses. He was about to kill his entire team in a rage until Zeno shows up.
Arch-Enemy: Champa and Beerus view each other as this, although in a somewhat friendly way since any real fighting between them can destroy their universes. Beerus also does care for his brother since he restores U6's Earth and advances the civilization to U7's Earth's standards so Champa can eat the food there.
- In reality it's more of a Sitcom Arch-Nemesis relationship and their last interaction before Zeno erases him is one of the most depressing points in Super.
Arc Villain: The saga encompassing the tournament against U6 and U7 is called the Champa Saga, as the tournament was his idea. Although, Champa is never fought directly by anyone but Beerus, and that was only for a few seconds before Whis and Vados stopped them.
Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Zig-zagged a bit. In episode 118, just before Universe 6 is erased, Champa seems like he's going to say goodbye to his brother Beerus, instead, he makes the akanbe gesture at him. You'd think this was subverting it, but given Champa, it's played as a last show of affection. Beerus is visibly distressed from losing him.
Becoming the Mask: Initially, he only participated in a baseball match with Beerus because he intends to steal Earth's food there, but over time his gets more and more enamored into the match due to his desire to defeat his brother to the point that after the match, he trains his team to become better at baseball in hopes to win in the rematch, completely forgetting why he even played it in the first place. Vados even lampshades this fact.
Beware the Silly Ones: Is fat to the point he tires out from walking too far and has many silly traits like his brother. At the same time, he is Beerus' equal and a fight between the two could potentially obliterate both universes. Episode 40 shows that he doesn't care about his own teammates and was going to murder all of them for losing; even Hit was freaked out.
- The Tournament of Power shows that, when threatened enough, he can be a terrifying planner: while the plan to deploy Hit and his nine brothers is Played for Laughs and fails because Hit doesn't have brothers, his first idea was to verify if his universe' strongest assassin had nine equals; in the Tournament proper he calls in Frost fully knowing how he actually is because he knows his true colors and that he can be of help, leading to the near elimination of Vegeta, sends Cabba to recruit more Saiyan and calls in two Namekians who fused with all the other Namekian warriors to become more powerful, plans for Hit's possible elimination by giving Potara earrings to Caulifla and Kale, also dealing with Kale's issues in Berserker form, and when things start to go bad and sees a glimpse of Jiren's true power instructs his warriors to eliminate all weak fighters and avoid Jiren at all costs so they'll end up winning by having more fighters when the time is up.
Big Eater: He loves to eat as much as Beerus and wants the Earth so he can eat the food there. Unlike the other big eaters in the series, Champa's eating habit shows in his weight.
Blue-and-Orange Morality: Being Beerus' twin brother and a God of Destruction, he also has an odd moral code. Overall, he treat mortals decently like sharing food with Goku and Vegeta, and felt sorry for Frost when he heard that he entered the tournament between U6 and U7 to gain his support for his charity organization. At the same time, he's extremely petty and a Sore Loser. He's willing to murder his entire team for losing to U7 during the tournament and sees his team as nothing but pawns in the game of the gods.
Brilliant, but Lazy: He is around the same power level as Beerus, but he is so lazy that he won't even destroy his own planets.
Butt-Monkey: Of all the all-powerful characters, he gets the least respect despite being a God of Destruction. Nothing seems to be going his way in the tournament, either: Vegeta alone defeated three of his five fighters and the two wins Frost did get for him turn out to be illegitimate (although Piccolo was still taking out of the tournament since Vegeta forces him to forfeit so he can fight Frost). However, he is more than confident that Hit alone can win him the entire tournament and isn't all that worried. He is right to be confident given that Hit takes down Vegeta without taking a single blow and Beerus is pushed to using his last good fighter since Monaka isn't strong at all and is only there as a Motivational Lie.
Can't Live Without You: His life is tied with the Supreme Kais of Universe 6, similar to how Beerus's life is tied with the Supreme Kai of Universe 7.
Cat Folk: Just like Beerus, he resembles a humanoid hairless cat, namely the Cornish Rex breed.
Cats Are Mean: He is very much like his brother, except lazier.
Character Development: During the Universe 6 vs. Universe 7 Tournament, Champa threatened to wipe out Hit and his team for not beating Beerus' team. By the time of the Tournament of Power, when Hit is eliminated by Jiren (and after giving a great performance), Champa only tells Hit "Good job out there. Your defeat won't be in vain". Likewise, when Cabba is eliminated by Frieza in the next episode, he doesn't get mad at him and directs his ire at Frieza for attacking Cabba while he was exhausted.
Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Surprisingly, despite literally being twins with one of the previous arc villains, he's notably different from previous Dragon Ball villains in a number of ways. For example:
- He's the first arc antagonist who has a lower stakes than world devastation since the Red Ribbon Army showed up.
- He doesn't fight, nor want to fight, Goku, something that hasn't happened since the original series.
- He's actually of a lower to, or equal to, threat level than a previous villain. Similarly to the first one, while he might be stronger than Frieza he is probably weaker than Beerus. However thanks to simply wanting to move the Earth to another dimension, he's less threatening than Frieza and all the Z villains and most of the original series villains.
- He's the first Arc villain who isn't an Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy again since the Red Ribbon Army arc. While Champa is a multiverse class fighter, being a God of Destruction, he has no particular need to prove anything in terms of martial arts skills. While he does briefly spar with Beerus, Vados and Whis put a stop to it quickly.
- He is the only arc villain so far that isn't (primarily) threatening because of either a raw power or his ability to command underlings. He does have both, but he starts the Champa saga more because of his position in the multiverse than anything else.
Cosmic Entity: Like his brother, he is a God of Destruction who could destroy the entire universe if he desired it. He is also not too concerned about the lives of mortals, given how he destroyed countless planets while searching for the Super Dragon Balls.
Deadpan Snarker: He and Beerus often communicate with each other through Snark-to-Snark Combat.
Champa: Hah, snoozy Beerus is awake for once! Guess there is such a thing as miracles.
Defiant to the End: He makes a mocking face towards Beerus as he's being erased.
Destroyer Deity: Just like his brother, he is the God of Destruction who destroys planets for the sake of cosmic balance on Universe 6. That said, however, he has shown to be lazier than Beerus, letting his assistant do the work, much to her annoyance.
Early-Bird Cameo: Shows up much earlier in the manga adaptation of Super than in the anime; while the Battle of Gods arc was going on.
Edible Theme Naming: Champagne. Yet another thing to establish him as a counterpart to Beerus.
Everyone Has Standards:
- Zig-zagged with Frost. When Vados explains she scouted Frost by promising him Champa's assistance if he wins the tournament, Champa can't help but feel bad for the poor guy knowing he has little chance of defeating all other tournament fighters, and is pretty upset to be told by Vados that he won't be supporting Frost if he loses. He also isn't happy to learn that Frost is a planet broker who cheated through his fights by poisoning his opponent. He was ready to kill Frost on the spot and didn't want the forfeit to be overturned when Vegeta wanted to fight Frost, not caring if it meant a loss for his team. He only changes his mind after Vados reminds him of his rivalry against Beerus, after which he's willing to turn a blind eye and even support Frost if he wins the tournament for him, although when Frost loses he doesn't really care (in contrast to his reactions when the other team loses) and he seemingly kicked him out of the team after this incident, as he does not participate in a baseball match afterwards.
- He's also upset when he finds out Vados offered Hit the universe-jumping travel cube if he won the tournament, even seeming unnerved by the idea of a legendary hitman and assassin possessing that. While he doesn't call off the deal due to Hit being the sole remaining member of his team and last chance to win by then, he's at least got the standards not to overlook the consequences of that action.
Evil Counterpart: Played With. He is more boorish than Beerus, but he isn't really more evil. In fact, he comes off as fairly polite and treats Goku and Vegeta with a degree of respect while Beerus treated them like dirt when he first met them. He also doesn't show Beerus' habit of blowing up planets for petty reasons and doesn't have any of his twin's Berserk Buttons. The planets he does destroy are because he's searching for the Super Dragon Balls. And the fact that he tries to destroy Frost after learning his true identity shows that he has standards, even if it's just not to embarrass him with poor sportsmanship.
Evil Is Petty: His motivation is at the end of it all simply to show up his brother and eat a lot of food. Champa was going to destroy his team for "dragging his name through the mud" as a result of losing the tournament.
Evil Twin: More like Beerus' more blunt twin since he is no more evil than Beerus unless you count the manga's Adaptational Villainy.
Evil Laugh: Gives one as he prepares to kill his entire team.
Eyelid Pull Taunt: Does this to Universe 7 before the start of the Tournament of Power. It's also the last thing he does to Beerus before he's erased.
Face Death with Dignity: For all his cowardice and bad attitude and sheer panic at the thought of being erased? When he realizes the jig is up and there's no avoiding his fate, he gives a last eyelid pull taunt to Beerus in an almost playful manner instead of freaking out as a way of saying goodbye to his brother.
Fat and Skinny: He is the fat to Beerus' skinny.
Fat Bastard: To contrast Beerus being Lean and Mean.
Vegeta: Say doesn't he kind of look like Lord Beerus?
Goku: Yah like if Lord Beerus ate another Lord Beerus.
Friendly Enemy: Despite being at odds with Goku and his friends since they side with Beerus, he is actually quite nice to them and even shares food with Goku and Vegeta. When Goku loses to Frost, he mostly demeans and mocks Beerus, not Goku who he compliments as Beerus' ace.
Greater-Scope Villain: In the Super manga Champa is portrayed as this. While Beerus causes chaos on Earth during the Battle of Gods Saga, Champa is flying around with Vados searching for the Super Dragon Balls, and giving grief to Old Kai and the Supreme Kai who don't know what he wants.
Hot-Blooded: He is even more short-tempered than Beerus and is always willing to fight him for petty reasons. That said, he rarely takes his anger out on other people or planets, unlike Beerus. Subverted in Episode 40; Champa was going to destroy his team and nothing they said could calm him down.
Hypocrite: When Hit faces Dyspo he states that he can't stand a guy who looks like Beerus, despite the fact that as Beerus' twin brother and a member of their species Dyspo looks like him too. When all the members of the Maiden Squadron have been eliminated he's also quick to mock Universe 2 for being down to three fighters, even if Universe 6 is down to two. In both cases Vados is quick to point out how hypocrital he is.
Inexplicably Awesome: Like his twin brother, he is a god among gods and nothing is really known about him. He could have been mortal at one point since Whis and Beerus have hinted several times that mortals like Goku and Vegeta can become the new Gods of Destruction. This is further supported by the appearance of Dypso in the Tournament of Power arc, as he appears to be of the same race of both Beerus and Champa but is definitely a Mortal, proving that others like Beerus and Champa exist elsewhere in the universes.
It's All About Me: Champa doesn't give a lick about teamwork or honor, ultimately this tournament is just a way to vent his Sibling Rivalry with Beerus since fighting him personally would destroy both of their universes. He even outright admits that his team are nothing but pawns in his own game.
Jerkass: Unlike Beerus, who even has moments of civility and compassion at his worst, Champa can be prick, since he wants to show up his brother. At the same time, Champa doesn't have anywhere near as many Jerkass moments compared to Beerus. His manga counterpart is another story.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While less apparent in the manga, he's much more humane with his temper despite being more volatile and much more Hot-Blooded than Beerus, doesn't take it to Ax-Crazy omnicidal mania and is positively disgusted by Frost's true colours.
Know When to Fold 'Em: Whenever the Second Time Patroller fights him in Xenoverse 2's Parallel Quests, Champa will bail out of the fight after losing enough health. He'll occasionally even admit he's impressed that the Time Patroller as the nerve to stand up to him and the power to back it up.
Laughably Evil: He's really funny when he's eating good food, and his reaction to Vados's creation of tournament field is one too. In anime, he's simply moody so far, not evil.
Lazy Bum: Tries to get Vados to do the work for him whenever he can, as by his own admission he's too lazy to do it himself. This comes back to bite him during the Universal Tournament. He was so lazy that he didn't bother to pick his own fighters, having Vados to do the work. So, he actually has no idea how powerful his own team is or what their abilities are, like him not knowing Cabba can't transform into a Super Saiyan like Goku. He also had no clue that Frost was a planet broker who only pretended to be a hero so he could buy planets on the cheap before selling them. When he yells at Vados for bringing someone like Frost, she says that he only ordered her to bring him the strongest fighters in the universe, not the strongest moral fighters in the universe who were also good people.
Make Me Wanna Shout: Shows this ability when trying to get his brother's attention, yelling loud enough the force of it almost knocks Beerus back and Goku and Vegeta think it was an attack by Beerus.
- It's even a special attack he has in Xenoverse 2.
Manchild: He is extremely childish. He holds petty contests against Beerus like who can bring the best food and is quite temperamental when he doesn't get his way. When Goku wins against his fighter during the first round of the Universal Tournament, he literally has a temper tantrum, accusing Goku of cheating by hiding his strength and using an energy attack before rolling on the floor crying. All that being said, Champa hasn't shown to be a Psychopathic Manchild like his brother, Beerus. He doesn't destroy planets for petty reasons (the ones he did destroys were during his search for the Super Dragon Balls), have nowhere near as many Berserk Buttons as Beerus, shows sympathy for others like him wanting to help Frost even if he didn't win at the tournament after hearing why he's fighting for him, and was somewhat polite to Goku and Vegeta when he meets them, while Beerus treated them like dirt (and still does to an extent).
Mysterious Past: Like his brother, nothing is known about his past. By statements made by Zeno, he wasn't born a god, but appointed to the position.
Never My Fault: Is quick to blame others (usually Vados or Beerus) for situations that result from his own lack of foresight. Vados likes to call him out on this.
No Badass to His Valet: He may be a God of Destruction capable of destroying the universe, but that doesn't stop Vados from snarking about him being overweight and lazy.
Obsessed with Food: Must be a family trait. The entire Universe 6 vs. Universe 7 tournament is about Champa wanting to move the Earth to his universe so he can eat there.
O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Both Beerus and him are terrified of Zeno and immediately humble themselves in his presence. This is saying a lot since they're both Jerkass Gods with huge egos.
Person of Mass Destruction: Like his brother, he's ungodly strong. If he and his brother ever fought, they'd destroy both universes. Just the two of them trading a couple of punches forms a Sphere of Destruction that reduces a good portion of the room they're in to ash without one energy attack being used.
Pet the Dog: After Hit is knocked out of the Tournament of Power by Jiren Champa actually congratulates him on the splendid fight he gave and notes that his sacrifice likely inspired the rest of his team to do their best for the remainder of the Tournament.
Physical God: The God of Destruction of Universe 6, and thus Beerus' equal in rank and approximate match in power. Vados jokes that he's weaker than Beerus since he's so out of shape, but that's still compared to Beerus, which puts him in a completely different league than nearly anyone else.
Pragmatic Villainy: He goes back on his death threat and decides to spare his team after Zeno shows up not because he realized he was being selfish and unreasonable, but to keep them around to represent him in the multiverse tournament Zeno has planned some time in the future.
Purple Is Powerful: His hue of purple is more of a red-violet than Beerus' blue-violet
Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Beerus' blue. But this seems to apply more to their Sibling Rivalry than anything else, as Beerus will go indiscriminately Ax-Crazy on an entire species if one member of it even so much as annoys him, while Champa, despite having maybe a vicious temper as well, doesn't turn into an Omnicidal Maniac upon being slighted and instead focuses his anger on the person who did it. He's also quick to forgive, unlike his brother who will annihilate Earth if they don't pay tribute to him, and holds even the most petty of slights as full-blown grudges.
Sibling Rivalry: It's quite clear that Beerus and Champa have this sort of thing going on between themselves. Beerus even states that the entire tournament isn't really about the Super Dragon Balls or the Earth, but two gods finding an excuse to fight. They just can't do it directly between themselves or it'll destroy their universes in the process. During the tournament he is willing to overlook and even support Frost after finding out that he's evil if he can beat the last two members of Beerus' team, after he wanting to kill Frost for disgracing his universe. His rivalry with Beerus is so strong that he's actually willing to overlook his own standards.
Smug Smiler: The first image of him has him mugging full force.
Skewed Priorities: Champa takes his rivalry with Beerus so seriously that he often put the goal of beating or humiliating Beerus above really important things such as survival. During the Tournament of Power even with the looming threat of being erased Champa still wanted above all to beat Beerus and constantly instructed his fighters to target the members of Universe 7 even when they are greatly outmatched, which played a big role in the elimination of his team and consequent erasure of his universe.
The Sociopath: From what we've seen of Champa, he seems to be the same high-functional sociopath as Beerus, although his impulse issues are not nearly as bad. He care for little outside his own wants, thinks his team are nothing but pawns to the gods, and treats Vados even worse than Beerus treats Whis. He was also ready to kill his entire team for the shame of losing to U7 and he did this all while gloating with an Evil Laugh. However, much like Beerus, being a sociopath doesn't make him necessarily evil, but gives him a complicated moral code since he does show some level of care when he hears that Frost is fighting to help children, and he's disturbed and angry when he learns that Frost is really an underground planet broker. But he then turns around and promises to support Frost if he defeats Vegeta, since he really wants to beat Beerus during the tournament, although he doesn't care when Frost loses.
Sore Loser: Does not take defeat well at all. When Botamo ends up losing in the first round he whines that it wasn't fair because Goku used energy projectiles in the match. Pretty much everyone from Beerus, the referee and even his own assistant, Vados, calls him out on his behavior and that Goku's victory was within the rules. He then rolls around crying for several seconds before Vados calms him down. Taken to the extreme in Episode 40 where instead of accepting his loss in the tournament, he decides to murder his entire team.
Stout Strength: Despite his low stamina and laziness, he's the God of Destruction of Universe 6 for a reason. For instance, he's able to fight his brother and fellow God of Destruction Beerus to a standstill. One of their clashes even threatened to destroy both of their universes!
Top God: He is the God of Destruction for Universe 6, making him the strongest being in his universe outside of Vados.
Took a Level in Kindness: Although still a bit of a Jerkass, he's softened up by the time the Tournament of Power rolls around, being more accepting of his fighters getting eliminated despite the much higher stakes involved. He's still freaking out about it, but he doesn't lash out against them.
Vocal Evolution: His voice actors from Japan, Funimation, and Latin America have something in common: Champa sounded more serious in his first appearance, but once his first encounter with Beerus happens, he started to sound more whiny and silly.
The Unfought: Despite the Tournament Arc being called the Champa Saga, he never fights the heroes. This is mostly because he has no personal dislike towards Goku and the others, and he's so far above them that he can easily defeat them, much like Beerus in the Battle of Gods Saga.
Ungrateful Bastard: Beerus wished Earth back for Champa's universe for seemingly no reason aside from hidden kindness, which Champa acknowledges and states that he owes Beerus one. Yet despite this, by the Tournament of Power, he doesn't hesitate to have his brother's universe erased just so he can beat his rival.
Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Whilst every character talks about the fact that Goku was the one who went to Zeno and reminded him about the multiverse tournament in which eight universes must fight to escape deletion, it's actually Champa that's to thank for starting the entire ruckus. He was the one who approached Beerus with the idea of a team tournament between the universes. Not only was this Goku's first encounter with beings not of the Seventh Universe, the tournament would draw the interest of Zeno so much that it gave the Omni-King the idea for the Tournament of Power in the first place. Of course, when you add the other little detail that Zeno was going to erase all eight universes anyway and the tournament actually gave them each a fighting chance, it changes the game a bit so that this fat cat, much like as noted with Goku, is actually the winning universe's Accidental Hero with this one.
Unknown Rival: Downplayed as Beerus acknowledges his rivalry with Champa but is otherwise apathetic about it. Champa on the other hand, takes the rivalry much more seriously to the point that based on the conflicts we see this far between them, he is always the one who started it first, from food fighting, to the tournament, even the baseball match.
Villainy-Free Villain: With the exception of threatening to kill his fighters when they lose the tournaments, which only happened in the anime, he's largely this during the U6 tournament. He's a unlikable prick for the most part, but he's only the antagonist in so much as he represents the other side of a tournament that Goku and Vegeta actively wanted.

Vados

Whis's sister. She is the attendant to her god the same way Whis is to Beerus.

As an angel and possibly stronger than Whis, she was quite likely Dragon Ball's most powerful character at the time of her introduction and would remain so until Zeno showed up. She still remains one of the strongest females to date by far, considering Whis' Hypercompetent Sidekick status and that Champa seems to be "Beerus, but worse".

Ambiguously Evil: Or at least affably amoral. Unlike her brother, Whis, who is a Nice Guy, she doesn't mind including sociopathic Villain with Good Publicity Frost, offering him Champa's help if he wins. She also promises Hit, Universe 6's best hitman, the Cube - the gods' transport of travelling between universes. Both events can have really bad consequences.
Action Girl: As an angel, she is among the strongest characters in all of Dragon Ball, but she doesn't get involved in fights due to the angels having the role of observers. However, she is playable in video games like Xenoverse 2, where she plays just as silly as her brother, Whis.
Adaptational Jerkass: She is more of a jerk in the manga. The most stand out example being the birthday cake incident where she set up Beerus and Champa to fight, which lead to several planets being destroyed. This incident never happened in the anime and she is actually quite civil and polite.
Almighty Janitor: She is Champa's assistant and holds no rank of any real importance that we know of. Considering her job is to babysit Champa like Whis does with Beerus, she is also likely one of the strongest characters in the series. One of her feats, she manages to fly at full speed while carrying six Super Dragon Balls that are bigger than the Earth. Vados claims to be stronger than Whis, but Whis disagrees by saying that it's been 1000 years since they last fought each other so things could've changed since then.
Blue-and-Orange Morality: Like with Beerus and Whis, Vados is shown to be quite morally gray as a character. She clearly enjoys the sight of a planet destroyed by her own hand, and was responsible for countless deaths by making Champa and Beerus fight over a silly reason. At the same time, the series never treats her as a villain, but just as someone doing her job despite how rude she may seem, and has moments where she is clearly shown to care about Champa.
Brutal Honesty: She's never shy to expresses her opinions to Champa or to remind him and others about his weight much to his embarrasment, telling Champa that he's getting too fat and pointing out how absurd Goku's question of whoever is stronger between Champa and Beerus is, since you can guess just by looking at their body shapes.
Can't Live Without You: Her life is tied to Champa's. If he were to die, she would cease to function until a replacement is selected.
Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Her job, like Whis, is to keep Champa from getting into trouble and doing too much damage. She isn't as strict as Whis, however, and lets Champa do what he wants as long as he doesn't fight Beerus.
Combo Platter Powers: She's an Almighty Janitor who is stronger than Champa by a large margin and may be stronger than Whis. She's also a Reality Warper who can create nearly unbreakable shields, create her own atmospheres, hold items in a Pocket Dimension, find almost anyone or anything in the universe using her staff, heal wounds, and can travel faster than the speed of light with ease.
Cosmic Entity: Although technically not a god, she is more powerful than Champa and have reality warping powers. She also not too concerned about the lives of mortals. It is later revealed that she's an angel.
Deadpan Snarker: When Champa complains that she didn't do a good enough job with the seating of the U7 Vs. U6 tournament, she basically states that she was living down to him (which Beerus runs with, if only to insult his brother).
The Dragon: Played With. She is Champa's servant and is Whis' equal in power, but she allows Champa to do whatever he likes and even helps him like destroying planets on his order. However, she does choose what orders she want to follow will interpret Champa's order loosely to troll him.
Distaff Counterpart: To Whis, being his sister and all.
Early-Bird Cameo: Shows up much earlier in the manga adaptation of Super than in the anime; while the Battle of Gods arc was going on.
Edible Theme Naming: Vados from Calvados, name of an apple brandy and fitting in with the alcohol theme of the Gods of Destruction and their Angels.
Evil Counterpart: Unlike Whis, she doesn't seem to be an Anti-Villain. At least in the manga. In the anime, she isn't as compassionate or as warm as Whis, but she isn't shown to be evil. That said, personally handpicking a Manipulative Bastard Galactic Conqueror with Good Publicity to join Champa's team and promising that Champa will assist him in his endeavors if they win, potentially putting at least a quadrant of her universe under the mercy of a "heroic" tyrant running a planetary real estate scam, may be a step in that direction.
Exact Words:
- When Champa yells at her for recruiting Frost, after finding out that he's a planet broker in the anime, her response is that he told her to find the strongest fighters in the universe. Not the strongest moral fighters.
- The same applies to recruiting Hit by offering the legendary hitman the ability to jump universes. Her response to Champa yelling at her for that is to remind him he told her to do whatever it took to get a strong team.
Faster-Than-Light Travel: She is just as fast as Whis who can travel the universe in under an hour. She can even maintain her speed while hauling six Super Dragon Balls, which are three times the size of Earth.
Holy Halo: Both Whis and Vados have rings around their necks like halos. It's later revealed that they're both angels.
Hypercompetent Sidekick: She does all the heavy lifting since Champa is too lazy to do anything himself, including destroying planets and picking Champa's team for the Universal Tournament.
Jerkass: In the manga, she certainly possesses a nastier streak than Whis. Her Kick the Dog moments only strengthen this claim. In the anime, she also recruited Frost knowing that he was actually a space pirate.
Kick the Dog: She destroys an unknown planet, knowing that it's not the planet Champa and she are looking for, and clearly takes pleasure in destroying it. In the Super manga, she also intentionally starts a fight between Beerus and Champa, which results in the destruction of several planets and its people. In the anime, her allowing Frost, a space pirate, and Villain with Good Publicity, to participate in Champa's tournament and perfectly knowing who he is, definitely counts. She also teases Champa about his erasure during the Universal Survival saga, which Champa's obviously doesn't react well.
Magic Staff: Has one, just like Whis, and, indeed, all angels.
Sixth Ranger: She joined Universe 7 bench after Universe 6 erasure.
Only Sane Woman: She like her brother views her job this way. She points out when Champa is being childish and irrational, but unlike Whis, is much looser about reigning Champa in. During the Universal Survival arc, when all of the Gods of Destruction turn on Goku for his role in the creation of the Tournament of Power, she points out that if it weren't for him, they would all be dead already and that Goku actually bought them time and a chance to survive.
Our Angels Are Different: Whis and Vados are a type of angel, according to U7's Supreme Kai, who only functions as long as their God of Destruction is alive.
Pet the Dog:
- She actually comes to Goku's defense when the other Gods of Destruction are disparaging him, pointing out that Goku's idea for the Tournament of Power is the only reason any of their universes have a chance to begin with. It falls on deaf ears, but it's a thoughtful gesture nonetheless.
- In the anime, for all her snarking at Champa, she gives him a bow of genuine respect just before he's erased after Universe 6's loss.
Physical God: As Whis' counterpart and sister, she is one. She can fly at her maximum speed while pulling six Super Dragon Balls, which are bigger than Earth, and has many magical abilities like creating force fields, and magic materialization.
Pocket Dimension: Vados and Whis can seemingly store endless objects into a pocket dimension using their staffs. This includes food and even people.
The Quiet One: Immediately upon Universe 6's erasure, she sits with her brother with Universe 7. However, as much commentary she provided, she has been completely silent since that point. However, she did make some brief dialogue when her sister, Marcarita asked about her seating next to Whis.
Reality Warper: She prepares a planet for the tournament by creating field, atmosphere, and food buildings. There hasn't been a reality warper of this level since Buu.
Servile Snarker: She tells Champa straight to his face that he's fat, somewhat slow, and has no sense of taste. And she makes it very clear who she thinks will win in a Beerus-Champa duel.
Sibling Rivalry: Has shades of this with Whis by claiming to be stronger, while he argues against that notion. In the anime, she makes no claim about how strong she is and shows equal respect towards Whis.
Sole Survivor: Of Universe 6 following the universe's erasure. Not so much after Universe 6 is restored after the tournament.
Statuesque Stunner: She's over seven feet tall and nearly as tall as her brother, Whis^note Champa barely comes up to her chest.
Troll: It's seems that Vados really loves trolling Champa. This gets highlighted during the Tournament of Power where Vados spends the entire time taunting Champa on the possibility of being erased. And then when all the Universe 6 warriors do in fact get eliminated, Vados immediately bails on Champa and joins her brother with Universe 7.
World's Strongest Woman: Of Universe 6. It's also quite possible that she's also stronger than Whis of all people and everyone has seen what he's capable of. Just like Whis, she can knock out Champa with a single chop to the neck.

Fuwa and his Attendant

Just like how Universe 7 has a Supreme Kai, Universe 6 has a Supreme Kai as well, named Fuwa. He's paired with his attendant as well. Fuwa is usually commentating on the battles, usually bickering with the Old Kai.

Catchphrase: Fuwa started to say "Oh dear, oh dear" a lot during the Universal Survival saga.
Champa: Stop saying that!
Can't Live Without You: Their lives are linked with Champa's.
Culture Clash: More like Universe Clash, but the Kais in Universe 7 are used to mortals chatting with them like it's nothing. In Universe 6, they find this very unusual and bizarre.
Hidden Depths: Fuwa, despite his nervous attitude all the time, has something of a hot blooded personality deep down. When he starts to shout for Kefla to win against Goku like a maniac, Beerus is freaked out by it , but Champa and Vados hardly react, implying this is something usual in him.
Beerus: Has he always been like this?!
Champa: That's just his hidden personality showing. Don't mind him!
Fat and Skinny:
- Fuwa and his Attendant are fat and skinny respectively.
- Fuwa and Champa also serve as the fat counterparts to Shin/Old Kai and Beerus.
The Gods Must Be Lazy: By his appearance, he gives off this vibe. Especially when Champa is doing things on his own time.
Minor Major Character: Doesn't really have significant screentime compared to Champa/Vados and other major Supreme Kais, such as Shin and Gowasu, despite the fact his position is the one of the most significant in his universe. He is, however, the ones to suggest fusion during the Tournament of Power, and gives his Potara earrings to Kale and Caulifla.
Nervous Wreck: Fuwa is shown to be very nervous at the time of the Tournament of Power. He also freaks out after seeing Jiren's power. Champa even tells him to shape up.
No Name Given: The Attendant name hasn't been revealed.
Not So Above It All: Despite appearing more cowardly, or at times much calmer, than Champa, during Kefla and Goku's fight Fuwa starts shouting and screaming for Kefla to kick Goku's butt right alongside Champa. Beerus is freaked out by it.
Fuwa: KEFLA! Take him out with the fighting stage!
O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The quiet Nervous Wreck who goes "Oh dear oh dear"? Well, it's quite frightening, but during the showdown between Kefla and Ultra Instinct Goku, he starts to outright shout at Kefla to win against Goku when Ultra Instinct Goku puts her in a disadvantage, something that Beerus notes is very different than what Fuwa normally sounds like.
Put on a Bus: The Attendant hasn't appeared on the Universal Survival arc, with only Fuwa appearing. This is interesting to note since Kibito and Old Kai went with Shin and Beerus to the exhibition matches (At least in the anime), but then again, they were the only universe with any assistant appearing (unless if you want to count Toppo, who serves as a bodyguard to Khai (Anime) and Belmod's disciple (manga)).
The Quiet One: Fuwa doesn't talk much, in comparison with Champa who likes to boasts and Vados who likes to snark at her boss expense. Fuwa, by comparison, just remains quiet watching the fights during the Tournament of Power. However, during the intense battle between Kefla and Ultra Instinct Goku, Fuwa outright shouts at Kefla not to lose against Goku.
Satellite Character: The Attendant doesn't have any sort of individual characterization.
Top God: Just like the Supreme Kai of Universe 6, he is the "God of Creation" of Universe 6, although he probably fears Champa as much as Shin and Old Kai fears Beerus.
Underestimating Badassery: He's quite cocky and when watching the fight between Frost and Goku, he expects Frost to decimate Goku ... until he becomes a Super Saiyan.

Universe fighters

Botamo

**Botamo (ボタモ, Botamo)**

A warrior from Universe 6, resembling a large yellow bear. He fights Goku in the tournament and is the first opponent overall.

Acrofatic: He's actually quite light on his feet for a guy his size, and uses his agility and Stone Wall ability to become briefly bounce around the arena to attack Goku.
Adaptational Badass:
- Downplayed. Both manga and anime Botamo didn't take any damage from Goku's attacks, and he's still defeated in the same way as his manga incarnation. But he doesn't even flinch from Goku's attacks in the anime, since all of Goku's damage is transferred into another dimension; while in the manga, he was repeatedly knocked around like a rubber ball.
- In the manga, it's even possible that he scored a knockout in the Tournament of Power by taking out Monna from Universe 4 (he was shown fighting against her), although she was eliminated off screen.
Anti-Climax: While his Stone Wall ability makes him a tough opponent to beat in a straight fight, in the tournament he is easily beaten by Goku once he realizes that he can just drag Botamo out of the ring with no trouble. It's zigzagged however, as manga Botamo displays speed and agility the anime version doesn't show.
Bears Are Bad News: Bear-like, and caused Goku some trouble in his round due to him sponging Goku's attacks.
Break the Haughty: After being defeated by Goku, he goes behind the sofa and cries. He gets over it rather quickly, however, to watch the next match.
Butt-Monkey: He is the first member of his team to be eliminated in the Universe 6 Tournament and the anime version of the Tournament of Power he fought in. Both times are due to relying too much on his ability to absorb attacks and not actually having a way to fight back once this weakness is exploited and both times were by members of Goku's family, first against Goku then his son Gohan. In the manga, he's able to outlast at least Dr. Rota and Frost.
The Cameo: An illusion of Botamo is summoned by Universe 4 fighter Shantza during episode 119. Ironically, he is shown fighting more as an illusion than the real deal (Who relied too much on his defenses and team work with Magetta).
Crippling Overspecialization: While a good fighter in his own right, his strategy mainly relies on using his invulnerability to wear down opponents until they're too weak to fight back or to force them out of the ring by stonewalling them. In a tournament match against Goku, he realizes that he doesn't have to beat Botamo, just throw him out of the ring, something Botamo can't prevent because Goku is far stronger. He has also relied on his ability for so long that once it proves to be ineffective, he had nothing else to rely on. He does slightly better against Vegeta in the Tournament of Power, as he's able to keep Vegeta from throwing him out, but Vegeta compensates by simply tying his arms and hoisting him overhead to carry him to the edge. If Magetta didn't jump in for the save, he would have lost.
Didn't See That Coming:
- He never considered that someone could drag and throw him out of the ring, negating his absorption ability.
- Later, he does see it coming, but then gets blindsided again as he never considered someone could just tie his arms and carry him to the edge to drop.
- Gohan pushes him out of the ring in episode 103 by punching him rapidly, the force of which lifts Botamo off the ground. As he's too large to reach Gohan with either mouth blasts or his limbs, Gohan is able to walk him to the edge and then send him flying off with a Kamehameha.
Edible Theme Naming: His name is derived from "Botamochi", a dumpling made of sweet rice coated with Azuki bean paste.
Enemy Mine: He joins members of Universe 9 and 4 in order to attack Universe 7 during the Tournament of Power.
Expy: His ability to not be hurt by any of base form Goku's attacks makes him similar to Buyon from the original Dragon Ball series. Both took direct hits from a Kamehameha and weren't affected at all. He also looks almost exactly like Winnie the Pooh, in particular the depiction used by Disney.
Fusion Dance: Parodied in the Universal Survival Arc. He rides on Auta Magetta's shoulders and covers his ears to keep him from hearing insults, calling the formation: "Bota Magetta".
Informed Attribute: His character biography in Shonen Jump states that he is very proud of his strength. It may have been how Overshadowed by Awesome he was, but he never displayed any great strength in his match and instead had to resort to his durability.
Logical Weakness: His overreliance on his nigh-invulnerability to being struck has made him exceptionally weak towards being grappled.
Nigh-Invulnerable: His special ability is to transfer damage he would've taken to another dimension, negating it. No matter what hits him, he never takes any damage himself. Though nothing is shown to overcome it, it does have its weaknesses. Piccolo and Vegeta speculate that Goku could have damaged him if he were to go all out (which goes untested), he is terrified of Champa (showing that his ability wouldn't protect him from Champa), and, in episode 100, he's sent flying when one of Kale's stray blasts explodes near him. His opponents usually result to immobilizing him then throwing him out of the ring.
No-Sell: He is able to redirect any damage he would take to another dimension. Nothing is shown to breach this defense, though there are ways of working around it.
Odd Friendship: In episode 70, Botamo works together with Magetta to catch a baseball after it's thrown over Magetta in an attempt to keep it from being caught since he can't fly. This act of teamwork suggests that they became friends after the tournament as a result of Botamo comforting Magetta after his loss to Vegeta. After Magetta saves him from being ringed out by Vegeta in the Tournament of Power, the two even team up to take the Saiyan Prince on. Pretty odd pair, a bear and a metal man.
Overshadowed by Awesome: He's suppose to be one of the strongest warriors from U6, and indeed, his character biography states that he is very proud of his strength. He is still far below Goku, who in fairness is literally a Physical God, and is beaten by him without transforming. This only goes further in regards to the other tournament participants. Both Frost and Magetta were able to force the Saiyans to transform, Cabba became an even match for Super Saiyan Vegeta after he ascended, while Hit is the most powerful member in Universe 6 who destroys Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. On the U7 side, Vegeta is almost as strong as Goku, and Monaka is hyped up to be the strongest in Universe 7, which turns out to be a lie created by Beerus to encourage Goku and Vegeta to become stronger. With the possible exceptions of Monaka, Piccolo, and Buu, Botamo is physically the weakest of the tournament participants.
Pet the Dog:
- While he is cocky and smug, he is also the only person on his team to comfort Magetta after he loses his match due to Vegeta insulting him.
- In the manga, he and Goku both bow to each other before their match, showing that despite Botamo's smug attitude, he does have some honor.
Red Is Violent: Botamo dons a bright red sleeveless shirt while being a formindable damage sponge.
Rubber Man: Downplayed. His body is balloon-like, able to stretch and compress with no apparent discomfort to Botamo. His body has enough elasticity to allow his arms to be tied into a knot without any bones breaking (assuming there are even any bones to break).
Smug Super: Whenever he smiles, it's always a smug little grin. But he's one of the five strongest warriors in his universe, so it makes perfect sense.
Stone Wall: His main ability is being able to No-Sell any kind of attack. His durability is so great that a Kamehameha from an untransformed Goku causes no damage. In the manga, Piccolo and Vegeta speculates that Goku could damage him if he transformed, but Goku intended to preserve his strength for the tournament. This is not to say that he's completely safe from harm, as he can still be manhandled or sent flying by indirect means like explosions near him. He is also shown to be afraid of Champa, showing that his durability wouldn't protect him from Champa.
Story-Breaker Power: He can transfer attacks to his body to another dimension, negating all the damage. This unique damage absorption ability can even keep him safe from Saiyan Beyond God Goku's Kamehameha. If Botamo was in a regular fight, he would certainly beat most opponents by wearing down their stamina before finishing them off. However, since he has only fought in tournament fights, his opponents are able to simply ring him out through indirect means.
Superpower Lottery: His unique damage absorption ability. He can absorb damage from Goku, including the Kamehameha. In the manga, it's suggested that Goku could have overwhelmed him if he went Super Saiyan. In the anime, Goku says he would have probably lost in a straight fight, although it was unknown if Goku simply meant that he couldn't win without transforming.
Taking You with Me: He tries this on Gohan, firing an energy blast at him before falling from the ring. Gohan just dissipates it.
Unskilled, but Strong: A unique mixture of this and Stone Wall. He was more than capable of taking Goku's attacks with no trouble, but he is far outclassed by him in combat. His strategy is to No-Sell his opponent's attacks while they run out of stamina or he can push them out of the ring, but he didn't think about being defeated by a ring out, and couldn't do anything about being thrown out of the ring by Goku, who even in base was much stronger, faster, and skilled. Goku specifically notes that he has relied on his ability for so long that he neglected his training.

A Universe 6 warrior from a race called the Metal Men who also takes part in the tournament for Champa. He fights Vegeta in the tournament and is the third opponent overall.

Adaptational Wimp: He gets a minor case of this in the Super manga. In the anime, he gives Vegeta a hard fight and nearly rings him out twice thanks to his species' ability to produced and withstand heat, having a nearly indestructible body that can withstand a Final Flash from Super Saiyan Vegeta, and can drink and spit up lava. In the manga, Vados doesn't produce a second barrier, which greatly limits Magetta since he can neither fly nor can he suffocate Vegeta with his heat. He does no real damage to Vegeta during their match and the entire fight is treated as a gag similar to the early Dragon Ball fights.
Aliens Speaking English: Averted; he seems to speak in his own language. His species language primarily seems to consist of "Choo-Poo!" In the dub, he speaks entirely in onomatopoeia for robotic sounds. He does appear to understand the japanese that the other characters speak though.
Bizarre Alien Biology: The Metal Men look like robots, but they're actually living creatures. They drink lava, can withstand high heat, and are super tough to the point of tanking energy blasts that can destroy planets. They also don't seem to have natural ki like every other character in Dragon Ball, although Magetta does have a standard Battle Aura in the anime.
Catchphrase: "Choo-po!", changed to "Chug-chug" in the English dub.
Convection, Schmonvection: Subverted. Thanks to a secondary barrier surrounding the arena, his lava attacks increase the ambient heat enough that even Vegeta begins to feel it. Naturally also justified with him being unharmed as he literally eats lava, so of course heat doesn't bother him at all.
Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: At first, he looks like your typical filler character, a weak and unimpressive fighter with a goofy design that would probably be defeated quickly by the Z fighters. When he fights Vegeta, he also appears slow and clumsy, nothing that could cause someone like Vegeta any trouble. However, Magetta turns out to be quite a strong and absurdly durable fighter that puts Vegeta in deep trouble in their fight (at least in the anime).
Exploited Immunity: He is immune to heat since he eats lava and doesn't seem to need to breathe. He uses this to heat up the ring (where the heat is trapped by Vados' second barrier) when he fights Vegeta and nearly suffocates him.
Fartillery: His species farts are evidently incredibly explosive. He's aware of this and weaponizes it, triggering an explosion that nearly ring outs Vegeta.
Flanderization: In the Universe 6 Saga, Magetta said several (incomprehensible) things besides "Choo poo!", and he did not say that phrase that often. From the baseball game onwards, he hardly says anything but "Choo poo!". This was probably done to give him a catchphrase, as well as because it was the only thing he said that could really be said or remembered by the audience.
Gathering Steam: He grows more powerful as he gets angrier, and specifically invokes this by hitting himself.
Genius Bruiser: He doesn't look like it, but he's very aware of his species' abilities and is adept at using them to give himself the advantage.
Gentle Giant: A mighty, metal living volcano with the grits to take an enraged Vegeta head-on with no fear... but hurt his feelings, and he won't take it very well. He and Botamo work out a strategy to counter this mental block by the Tournament of Power, having Botamo cover Magetta's ears so he can't hear insults.
Handicapped Badass: He is one of the very few non-Earthlings who can't fly. It doesn't stop him from giving Vegeta a hard time. He is without a doubt, the most powerful flightless character introduced. However, in the Tournament of Power, flying is prohibited (except for those with wings), so the "handicapped" part is crossed out here for him.
Home Field Advantage: One of his abilities is to superheat the environment around him. While he eats, and is filled with, molten lava, this has no effect on Magetta, but fatigues and weakens his opponent. Of note, this actually has an impact on Vegeta, who normally is unaffected by this trope being invoked by his opponent.
Humongous Mecha: The first we've seen in the series since the Pilaf Machines, at that!
Improvised Weapon: Uses a piece of his hardened lava breath as a club to great effect and comes literally within an inch of ringing Vegeta out by smacking him with it.
The Juggernaut: Magetta is Nigh-Invulnerable and strong enough to fight Gods. However, the real reason he's this trope is because of his special ability: the longer he fights and the angrier he gets, the more powerful he becomes. Once he gets going, he can be hard to stop, as Vegeta finds out. In the end, even as a Super Saiyan, Vegeta can't actually do anything more than stun him for a few moments and has to ring him out. We also got to see him trade blows with Toppo without any serious issues (who was strong enough to take on Goku during the exhibition match). Later, Frost asks Magetta to assist him in his fight with Vegeta, with the metal man absorbing the saiyan prince´s ki attacks like if they were nothing. Magetta only gets eliminated at the end due to Vegeta, again, exploiting his weakness to insults. Were not for his Weaksauce Weakness, Magetta could be virtually unstoppable and one of the top threats of the tournament.
Lightning Bruiser: Given his size, he employs brute power. Once he's angry, not only does he grow stronger, he's also a lot faster as well.
Living Lava: While his outer body is metal, his internal biology is lava and he eats the stuff.
Made of Indestructium: His metal body seems to be impervious to all attacks. Even Vegeta going all-out with his strongest attacks fails to cause even the slightest bit of damage. He and Toppo also traded blows as well without any serious consequences to the robot. That said, his durability does have its limits, as Kale was able to break apart the Bota Magetta combo in the anime, and in the manga, she knocked Magetta out while in a berserk rage.
Mechanical Lifeforms: Despite being robotic in nature, he is an actual lifeform from an entire race of beings like him, though given he was chosen in particular, it's likely his power is unique to him, or at least his mastery and degree of the power is to him.
Manchild: He's emotionally weak and loses his will to fight if insulted, something Whis only mentions after he is defeated.
Magma Man: The guy seems to be a living geothermal power plant fueled by lava. He can also use this for offense. He's also capable of hardening it into an effective club.
Mighty Glacier: As much as someone can be at the God-tier powers, anyway. He can neither fly, nor is he nimble, but he is incredibly heavy, extremely durable, and insanely strong.
Misery Trigger: Despite how tough Magetta is, he and his race are apparently very sensitive, and insulting him will result in him crying and losing the will to fight.
Nigh-Invulnerable: Literally nothing has ever been shown to physically harm him. Vegeta could neither hurt or even fatigue him during their battle, only winning by ring-out thanks to unintentionally exploiting his weakness to insults. During the Tournament of Power, he's briefly shown trading blows with Toppo, who fought Goku to a near-standstill, and shows up later no worse for wear.
Not Quite Flight: Though he can't fly like practically every other fighter, he can jump very high.
Odd Friendship: In episode 70, Botamo works together with Magetta to catch a baseball after it's thrown over Magetta in an attempt to keep it from being caught since he can't fly. This act of teamwork suggests that they became friends after the tournament as a result of Botamo comforting Magetta after his loss to Vegeta. Magetta is even the one to come to Botamo's aid against Vegeta during the Tournament of Power and even team up on him. Pretty odd pair, a bear and a metal man.
Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Magetta fought Toppo; and when he later arrived to save Botamo; showed no sign of injury or fatigue.
Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: The dub adds robotic onomatopoeia to his vocabulary in top of his normal Catchphrase.
Shout-Out: His name is a portmanteau of the mecha franchises Mazinger Z and Getter Robo.
Smarter Than You Look: Champa, and Vegeta, both mistake him for being dim, due to his nature. He's smart enough to use his heat powers to give himself a Home Field Advantage and uses a mixture of his species' natural abilities to trigger a powerful explosion that nearly ring outs Vegeta.
Superpower Lottery: His naturally hard metal body makes him immune to all of Vegeta's attacks, including the Galick Gun and Final Flash. His magma spit can even push back Vegeta's most powerful energy blasts. His ability to increase the heat of the area he's in is so great it can irritate a Saiyan Beyond God in a closed enough space, and his power increases with his anger. Because of all this, Magetta comes VERY close to defeating Super Saiyan Vegeta, nearly ringing him out twice after Vegeta knocked out Frost in a single punch. To note, he eventually gets so powerful that he's able to counter Vegeta's fully charged Final Flash and what managed to hit him only succeeded in stunning him for a few moments. To note, the last person who got hit by a fully charged Final Flash (Cell) was much stronger than Vegeta at the time and was badly wounded by a glancing blow. Vegeta ultimately only defeats him by ring out.
Super Spit: He can spit up lava powerful enough to overpower base form Vegeta with enough force to actually hurt him(though Vegeta is able to stick his hand through some of this lava without burns, the increased osmosis seems to be the only hazard brought on by the heat). Powered up more, he managed to overpower Vegeta's Super Saiyan Galick Gun.
Synthetic Voice Actor: In the English dub, he is voiced by a text-to-speech program.
Unskilled, but Strong: His first moments show exactly how uncoordinated and clumsy a fighter he is, but what comes afterwards… He also can't fly, something that most other characters in the franchise can do. Doesn't stop him from giving Vegeta trouble.
Wake-Up Call Boss: He is the first opponent to truly challenge the Saiyans. Even as a Super Saiyan, Vegeta can't physically harm him and nearly loses by ring out, twice. Vegeta is forced to destroy part of the stage in order to win, although Goku says Vegeta could have easily won if he used his god ki, to which Vegeta responds he wasn't ready to reveal it to Hit yet.
Weaksauce Weakness: Very durable and could even withstand Vegeta's Final Flash along with the punch afterwards, but he is quite sensitive emotionally. Vegeta calling him a piece of metal junk costs him the battle. He has Botamo cover his ears during the Tournament of Power, protecting him from Vegeta's insults. After Botamo is eliminated, he changes to using rocks to cover them. Vegeta destroys one of them and insults him, causing him to lose.
Wrong Context Magic: He is one of the very few fighters to not use Ki Manipulation, and powers up completely differently than others do, using anger to amplify his molten lava and geothermal power. That said, the anime shows he has the same kind of Battle Aura every other ki users has, suggesting Magetta is simply ki in a less direct manner.

A Saiyan from Universe 6 chosen by Champa to fight for him in the Universe 6 Tournament. Considered The Ace of the Sadala Defense Force and one of his race's best warriors. He fights Vegeta in the tournament and is the fourth opponent overall.

During his fight with Vegeta, he is taught how to transform into a Super Saiyan, and starts to declare Vegeta his master, which Vegeta tries to deny. He promised Vegeta to introduce him to Planet Sadala and its king one day.

The Ace: He is the ace of the Saiyan Elite Unit, the Sadala Defense Force, according to his mentor Renso. While Overshadowed by Awesome by the standards of Goku, Vegeta or Hit, he was able to go toe to toe with base form Vegeta during the tournament between both universes. Even Caulifla holds him in high regard, especially after her transformation.
Caulifla: Wow. Feels like I'm getting stronger by the second. I bet I could defeat you like this now.
Cabba: [while sweating] You're more right about that than you know.
Adaptational Badass: During the recruitment arc of the Tournament of Power, Cabba goes to enlist Caulifla's help in the upcoming tournament. In the anime, he doesn't even attempt to fight Caulifla and is made out to look weaker than both her and Kale, with the latter almost killing him after she went berserk. In the manga however, Cabba is given a far more dominant role as he easily trounces Caulifla once he turns Super Saiyan and earns her respect enough to convince to join the tournament.
- Zig-Zagged however, as during the actual tournament Cabba never manages to achieve Super Saiyan 2. However he arguably goes out in a more dignified manner, sacrificing himself to put the Potara earring on Kale's ear and throw her back into the ring before his universe's most powerful player got rung out, creating Kefla in the process.
Adaptational Curves: Downplayed Trope, but still present in the manga. Cabba in the anime is drawn as a really slender guy, following Toriyama's actual style, while Toyotarō draws him with more muscle, especially in his legs. Compare Cabba here◊ with the cover of the manga◊ (Damn, he has legs).
Adaptational Intelligence: A downplayed example. In the manga, Cabba is aware of the Saiyans having tails in the past, while in the anime, he is puzzled by the thought.
A Death in the Limelight: Non-lethal version. After being Out of Focus during the Tournament of Power, episode 112 focuses entirely on him, his promise to Vegeta of taking him to meet Planet Sadala, and trying to defeat Monna in order to protect Caulifla and Kale. Said episode also has him obtaining Super Saiyan 2. After that, however, Frieza takes him out fueled by pure sadism.
Anime Hair: Sports a hairstyle similar to Gohan's during the Buu Saga.
Badass Adorable: In short stature, kind-heart, shyness towards women and good-manners, Cabba's character design style is closer to that of an "adorable little brother" archetype from a Shoujo Anime... in power on the other hand he is blow for blow a match for Vegeta.
Beat Them at Their Own Game: The entire reason Cabba was chosen to take part in the tournament. Champa saw that Beerus had Goku and Vegeta, so he went to find some powerful Saiyans of his own.
Berserk Button: Threaten those dear to him.
- During the Tournament between Beerus and Champa, Cabba was pretty much willing to give up during his fight with Vegeta. However, Vegeta threatening to blow up Planet Sadala and kill his family was his limit, and allowed him to turn Super Saiyan.
- What made him angry enough to go Super Saiyan 2 was Monna insulting Vegeta as well as Caulifla and Kale, while also threatening to dispatch them after she dealt with him. Both Monna and Frieza's threats to attack Caulifla and Kale made him furious.
Bizarre Alien Biology: He like all Saiyans aged slower than humans, staying in their prime until they're eighty. He can also transform into a Super Mode.
Blood Knight: Although the Saiyans in U6 are not Space Pirates like their U7 counterparts, they are still considered a warrior race who loves to fight. They just use their power to protect people from evil instead of terrorizing them, much like Goku.
Broken Pedestal: He is surprised and heartbroken when he learns that Frost was Evil All Along, and used him and the other Saiyans to do his dirty work.
Bully Hunter: The Saiyans of U6 are an entire race of this. Cabba is horrified when he hears that the Saiyans in U7 used to steal planets. When Vegeta tries to justify it as natural since the Saiyans are a warrior race, Cabba counters that as a warrior race they shouldn't be stealing planets since the Saiyans in his universe fight against such people.
Didn't See That Coming: He is shocked when he sees Super Saiyan Goku during the match against Botamo. He has never heard of a Super Saiyan before, let alone seen one. He didn't even know Saiyans could transform.
Dub Name Change: Played with. His name is rendered as "Kyabe" on the Latin American Spanish dub, but that's the pronunciation of "Cabba" in the original Japanese, anyway.
Edible Theme Naming: Like other Saiyans, Cabba's name is a pun on a vegetable, "cabbage" in this case.
Fragile Speedster: Is very fast and can pack a punch, but tires easily and seemed to have a hard time against Vegeta's more brutish fighting style. One gut-punch from a Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta knocks him out entirely.
Foil: Cabba and Vegeta. Cabba is outgoing and friendly from the start, while Vegeta is a Defrosting Ice King who warms up to people gradually. Cabba appears to be a commoner, while Vegeta is a prince (technically king). Cabba is unabashed in his admiration for Vegeta's superior strength minutes after meeting them, while Vegeta only grudgingly admires Goku, and even then only after bucketloads of Character Development.
The Gift: Cabba is very powerful for a Saiyan who has no Godly ki. He is able to fight evenly with Vegeta while they are both in base form, despite Vegeta having obtained Godly ki through training with Whis. Vegeta actually admits Cabba could surpass him, and even encourages him to do so.
Golden Super Mode: Notably lacks the ability to go Super Saiyan. At first, anyway. Vegeta manages to help him awaken it during their fight. He gets Super Saiyan 2 during the Universal Survival Saga.
Cabba: This... this is Super Saiyan, the power awoken from intense anger... Vegeta... he was saying those horrible things to stir up these feelings in me. I'll remember what he taught me, and fight with everything I have!
Good Counterpart:
- Somewhat implied to be the Universe 6 version of Vegeta, given their shared fighting stance and the fact that their techniques are similar. Cabba even uses a ki blast that is basically identical in appearance to Vegeta's signature Galick Gun. That said, he does mention to Vegeta that the Saiyans' king is a very proud man who reminds him of him.
- He also qualifies as a semi-counterpart to Nappa. Both Cabba and Nappa have their names derived from "cabbage" (the English word for the former, a type of a Chinese cabbage for the latter). In the manga, Vegeta even prepares to kill Cabba with the same move he used to kill Nappa in DBZ (only he isn't really trying to kill him, but instead get Cabba angry enough to become a Super Saiyan). Not to mention that Nappa was subservient to Vegeta - the Saiyan prince - and in the anime Cabba mentions that Vegeta's pride is similar to the U6 King of the Saiyans, implying that Cabba is subservient to him. Also interesting to note is that the way Vegeta treats Cabba is completely the reverse of the way he treated Nappa: where Vegeta eventually deemed Nappa not worthy of living and killed him while they were fighting for the same cause, Vegeta actually goes out of his way to be sporting and encouraging to Cabba during their match against each other.
Heel Realization: While he was never even remotely evil, Cabba never realized he was being used for evil until the tournament by Frost. Afterwards, he tells the authorities everything about Frost's true colors, making him a wanted fugitive.
Heroic Self-Deprecation: He briefly spouts a line with this in mind (before attempting to rile up Kale), leaning more towards his inability to effectively insult others:
Cabba: I, the unworthy Cabba, shall taunt you!
The Knights Who Say "Squee!": He's a well regarded celebrity and hero throughout Universe 6, and after Beerus and Champa's tournament he looks up to Vegeta and calls him "Teacher". He also looked up to Frost before it was revealed that Frost was a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing.
Know When to Fold 'Em: He tries to surrender while Vegeta is beating him up. This makes Vegeta angrier, who berates him for giving up. Vegeta then changes tack to find his Berserk Button.
Meaningful Name: Cabba comes from the same pun as Nappa, Vegeta's bodyguard and sidekick during his Planet Trade days. Knowing the stark contrast between the two's interactions with Vegeta helps demonstrate the change in the Saiyan prince's character, as well as the difference between Universe 6 and 7's Saiyan cultures.
More Expendable Than You: He fights Monna in place of Caulifla because Caulifla and Kale stand a much better chance of winning the tournament once they're rested than he does. Which is later revealed to be due to them being the trump card via the Potara Fusion.
Muscles Are Meaningless: Has exactly no sign of muscle or toning on his entire body, but is considered to be one of the strongest warriors in Universe 6. He doesn't disappoint, except for the fact that he's unable to transform originally. Once Vegeta pretended to threaten the livelihoods of those he love, Cabba unlocked his Super Saiyan transformation in a fit of anger.
Nice Guy: Is actually rather pleasant and peaceful, gladly explaining things about Universe 6 Saiyans to Vegeta, and even agreeing to let him see the Saiyan Homeworld in Universe 6 one day. It's even difficult for him to say mean things in general, as seen when trying to make Caulifla angry enough to go Super Saiyan - Cabba can barely say the (rather mild) insults period, let alone with sincerity or actual harshness. When he's truly angry however, you can expect these traits to fly out the window, as seen against Vegeta (briefly) and Monna.
Non-Standard Character Design: Aside from his hairstyle, he physically looks quite different than just about every other Saiyan seen in the series. Despite his definite fighting prowess, he's almost completely devoid of muscle definition, far thinner the U7's Saiyans like Vegeta's brother Tarble, or Trunks and Goten who are human-hybrid children. Also notable, his eyes are in a thin design similar to Android's 17 and 18 that, while have been seen on Saiyans in the past, were never before seen on a Super Saiyan.
Odd Friendship: A Bully Hunter who is friends with the leader of a gang of delinquents. That isn't even including his relationship with Vegeta.
Older Than They Look: Cabba's age has never been clarified, but he looks to be around 10 or 12 years old. In reality, he is an adult, as he is part of the defense forces for his planet, has taken part in wars and one of the strongest fighters in his universe, and can drive a space ship, things you won't let a kid do.
Overshadowed by Awesome: One of the strongest warriors of Universe 6, and can go toe to toe with Vegeta in his base form, even after his years training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and with Whis. However, he falls behind compared to Vegeta and Goku since he can't transform even into a basic Super Saiyan until Vegeta shows him how. In the Universal Survival Saga, minutes after teaching Caulifla and Kale how to transform into Super Saiyans, both gain even more powerful forms. They didn't even know that those forms even existed. He does figure out how to access Super Saiyan 2 during the Tournament of Power, but takes heavy damage before doing so and is easy pickings for Frieza, who even against Super Saiyan 2 only felt the need to power up to his Golden form to No-Sell his attacks and ring him out.
Pint-Sized Powerhouse: He is a Saiyan who is very small in stature. He is shorter than Vegeta and is around the same height of Frost's first form. At the same time, he is also one of the strongest fighters in Universe 6, able to go toe-to-toe with Vegeta's base form and evenly matches Vegeta's Super Saiyan form after he ascends. According to Xenoverse 2, Cabba is as tall as GT Pan, who we need to remind you is only 10 years old.
Punch! Punch! Punch! Uh Oh...: After accidentally awakening Kale's Berserker form, Cabba desperately has to defend himself against her bloodthirst. At one point, after blocking Berserk Kale's furry of blows, he tries to retaliate with a strong punch into her chest. It doesn't help in the slightest, leaving him open to a fully charged counterattack.
Skilled, but Naive: Being a Saiyan, he's a natural fighting prodigy. He's even able to keep up with Vegeta before he transforms, and this is after Vegeta had trained with both Goku and Whis. However it's pretty clear he doesn't have anywhere near the battle experience that Goku or Vegeta have, not even being able to use the Super Saiyan transformation, an ascension that Goku, Vegeta and their sons learned and mastered years before they met Cabba. However, part of that is because Cabba didn't even know that such a thing as Super Saiyan even existed. Once he does, he quickly becomes one himself and is able to maintain it better than Vegeta and Gohan when they first transformed.
Superpower Lottery: He's a minor example. Although he was unable to go Super Saiyan initially, his base form is equal to Vegeta, after he has been training with Whis and trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for three years, which makes him many times stronger than the next strongest Saiyan, Gohan. After Vegeta beats him up and pushes him to his Rage Breaking Point, he ascends to Super Saiyan, and during his battle with Monna, hitting it again lets him reach Super Saiyan 2.
Suspiciously Similar Substitute:
- He bears a passing resemblance to Tarble, Vegeta's little brother from the OVA Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!, and even shares the "little brother-big brother" dynamic with Vegeta, with Cabba acting more or less like a stand-in for him in Super.
- While he still has his own quirks, during the Universal Survival saga of the anime, Cabba starts to share traits associated with Gohan. Being the mentor of a Hot-Blooded girl (Like Gohan with Videl), a rude mentor (Vegeta instead of Piccolo), and turning Super Saiyan 2, and during his Day in the Limelight, sharing some visual shots associated with Gohan in both occasions he gained a new power. Makes you wonder if he, by any chance, is Gohan's Alternate Self.
Teach Him Anger: When he asks Vegeta to teach him the Super Saiyan transformation, Vegeta threatens him and his family until his anger finally grows enough to trigger it. He tries this for Caulifla, but he's too nice and she's already short-tempered, so he resorts to a technical explanation. Both then try to repeat this tactic when teaching Kale on how to hone in on her Super Saiyan potential. The results are a bit too effective.
The Unchosen One: Gives off this impression once the other two Saiyans on his team appear: while he's certainly strong, there's nothing much special about Cabba compared to Caulifla and Kale's latent talent. Vegeta probably could have taught them how to transform as well; he simply happened to meet him first and ask about it. Even after unlocking Super Saiyan 2, he's still weaker than both Caulifla and Kale since Caulifla and Cabba both believed that she could defeat him if they both fought as Super Saiyans, and Kale is much stronger than Caulifla.
Tranquil Fury: After getting pushed to the breaking point by Monna's sadistic taunting, he proceeds to go Super Saiyan 2 and unleash a nasty Curb-Stomp Battle to her before blasting her out of the ring without uttering a single word, and with only a livid Death Glare to show that he is utterly furious.
Took a Level in Badass: Cabba is already a badass since he is able to match Vegeta's base form even after he trained with Whis for almost two years and got an additional three years of training inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. He, however, falls behind Vegeta since he can't become a Super Saiyan, not even knowing that the form existed until he saw Goku transform. After Vegeta purposely pushes him to his Rage Breaking Point he ascends and gives Super Saiyan Vegeta a run for his money. He is then one-shotted by Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta to show how much farther he can go and the levels he can achieve if he trains hard enough. In episode 112, he unlocks the Super Saiyan 2 form.
Vague Age: Cabba's age is never said during the series, but he appears to be older than he looks. By all accounts, he was considered The Ace of the Sadala Force, and is able to drive a space-ship as a soldier, things that a kid wouldn't be able to do, but by Saiyans' standards, this is unknown. Xenoverse 2's Tournament of Champa saga had many lines of dialogue from Trunks stating him as "full of potential" and young, meaning he can't be older than 16. ^note
Unstoppable Rage: Briefly when he turns Super Saiyan for the first time and in that space of time manages to keep up with Vegeta despite him being in the same transformation.
We Help the Helpless: Like all Universe 6 Saiyans, Cabba isn't a planet thief, he is a hero who saves other people from evil. He makes it a point to say that since the Saiyans are a warrior race, they should use their power to protect people, not steal planets.
Weak, but Skilled: Unlike the other Saiyans of his universe, Cabba lacks the raw power and rage that fuels Kale, while not having the same raw talent that Caulifla has. However, while he is not as strong as they, Cabba is shown to be quite skilled in combat, having the training of the Sadala Forces to help him stand against Vegeta, and other more powerful fighters. Renso even refers to him as being very skilled and he was able to do well in the Tournament of Power.
What the Hell, Hero?:
- He has this reaction when Vegeta nonchalantly reveals that the Saiyans in U7 stole a planet when they destroyed their original homeworld with in-fighting. When Vegeta says it's normal since they're a warrior race, Cabba shoots back that is exactly why they shouldn't be stealing planets.
- He has another one after he finds out that Frost has been cheating by poisoning his opponents. He then finds out this is Frost's true character.

"Combat is craft. What matters most is not raw power but the skill by which you hone it."

Universe 6's greatest hitman, who was chosen as part of Champa's team against Beerus's in the Universe 6 Tournament. He fights Vegeta and Goku in the tournament and is the last opponent overall. After the tournament, he was the main antagonist of an anime-only mini arc, where he was paid by a mysterious client to kill Goku.

The Ace: He is said to be the strongest fighter from Universe 6 and is a legendary assassin who never fails to kill his target, giving him the nickname, The Flawless Hit, and he definitely lives up to his reputation.
- He easily decimates Vegeta who was fighting as a Super Saiyan Blue without Vegeta even touching him once. He also has the ability to skip time by a fraction of a second, effectively leaving the rest of the universe standing still and allowing him to attack with impunity for brief period. He even one-ups himself by showing that he can improve while he fights, taking his Time-Skip technique to ever-increasing durations to counter Goku, and even though he lost in the end
- In the Tournament of Power, he is literally called the ace of Universe 6, and shows it by being one of the few who can hold his own against Jiren.
- He's also fought Goku three times and won the first two, actually killing Goku with a single blow in the second, only for the third to end in a draw as both fighters collapse in exhaustion.
Achilles' Heel: His Time-Skip is ineffective against those who are significantly more powerful than him. This is directly stated in the manga, and implied in the anime, with a Kaio-ken boosted Goku and Jiren breaking free of his techniques, albeit with some effort.
Adaptational Personality Change:
- Downplayed, but Hit is somewhat more cocky in the manga than he is in the anime. In the anime he is usually The Stoic who would occasionally make a small smile whenever he fights Goku. In the manga, he is far more expressive, making cocky grins and losing his composure more often when he is on the losing edge.
- In the manga he places a lot more focus on physical strength instead of fighting techniques. During the manga's version of the Tournament of Power, he even tells Goku that he believes that true power comes from honing a body's strength rather than relying on his Time-Skip to fight. This is the opposite of his anime counterpart, who believes that improving his Time-Skip techniques is the best way to counter stronger opponents.
Adaptational Wimp: In the manga, his Time-Skip is ineffective against a fully powered Super Saiyan Blue, whereas this was not the case in the anime. Likewise, he never improves his Time-Skip ability and Goku never has to use the Kaio-ken in their match. As he helpfully tells us, his power in the manga is higher than SSG but lower than SSB, while in the anime, he's strong enough to fight Goku at SSB and take hits from Goku's SSB Kaio-ken x10, but it's still his ever-improving Time-Skip that allows him to make up for the power gap. He comes back stronger in the manga's Tournament of Power, but even then, he only seems to be around Goku's "completed" SSB. In the manga equivalent of his fight against Jiren, his "Time Cage" ability also didn't really stop Jiren, as Jiren was only fighting at a small fraction of his power. By contrast in the anime, he manages to actually trap Jiren in the Time Cage for a small amount of time, and Jiren has to actually put effort in to power through it. He performed better against Jiren then Goku did in his first fight.
Adaptive Ability: Hit is able to improve his Time-Skip technique on the fly in response to whoever he's fighting. This allows to stay ahead of Goku who had started to adapt to his Time-Skip, until Goku uses his Kaio-Ken to catch up. He's also able of adapting to Jiren's fighting style enough to be able of hitting the Pride Trooper and traps him in his Time Cage despite the huge difference in power between the two, but not enough to avoid defeat at Jiren's hands.
Alien Blood: His blood is purple.
Ambiguously Evil: Standoffish, serious-faced, and initially presented and advertised as being dark and dangerous, yet the first person he seems to take issue with is Frost when he attempts to escape from the tournament after Vegeta easily beats him. At any rate, he's a confirmed mercenary and hitman so he obviously doesn't have much problem with taking lives. However, it's worth noting he doesn't try to kill Goku a second time after succeeding once, implying he likes Goku, or at least respects him.
Always Someone Better:
- He hands Vegeta a crushing defeat without even trying. This is after Vegeta beats three of the five fighters from U6.
- He is on the receiving end of this from Jiren, who defeats him and rings him out in the Tournament of Power. Hit still put up a dignified fight though.
Arc Villain: Hit counts as this in his during a two-part Breather Episode where he's hired by a mysterious employer to assassinate Goku. Somewhat averted as Goku really wanted to fight Hit, so he asked Whis to ask Vados to hire Hit.
Awesomeness by Analysis: Hit is able to break down his opponent's movements, gaining an understanding of them and formulating a plan on how to defeat them. He adapts to Goku's fighting style, even mimicking it, as Goku does the same to him. Against Dypso, he slowly figures out how the speedster is anticipating his movements and turns it to his advantage.
Badass Arm-Fold: Often seen doing this, with some games even having this as his idle animation.
Badass Boast: In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Hit will say a boast to the Time Patroller, and the ones with the Earthling and Frieza's (Frost?) clan patrollers are the most interesting.
Hit: [to an Earthling] I have lived for 1,000 years... you short-lived creatures cannot imagine the breadth of my experience.
Hit: [to a Frieza's clan patroller] You appear to be the same race as Frost. In that case, you won't last long...
- His infamous line when chosen in Xenoverse 2 is this. He says, "Time to make the donuts.", which is old slang for "Time to go to work." In other words, Hit is indirectly reminding the player that killing people is little more than a casual day job for him.
- During his fight against Dyspo, K'nsi saves his fellow Pride Trooper from a ring-out and tells him that he'll take the assassin down with him. And then Hit time-skips behind him...
Hit: The only thing you'll be taking with you is pain.
Badass Longcoat: Wears one that goes down to his knees. Unlike many examples, his actually serves a practical purpose, at least in the manga: He deliberately hides his legs from his opponent by placing his hands inside his pockets and adjusting his coat, in order to make his Time-Skip even more unpredictable.
Batman Gambit: Hit fakes powering up into a Super Mode to bait Goku into attacking him head-on. In actuality, Hit just increased the duration of his Time-Skp technique.
Beat Them at Their Own Game: He manages to do this against Goku. Part of what makes the Saiyans so powerful, especially Goku, is their ability to adapt and grow stronger as they fight. Hit proves that he too can improve in the middle of a fight by constantly improving his Time-Skip technique each time Goku adapts to it.
Beneath the Mask: Most of Universe 6 knows Hit as a Consummate Professional Killer, but get him into a situation where he actually has to put in an effort to achieve his goals, and the mask drops to reveal a Challenge Seeker who has been stuck in a Victory Is Boring rut for centuries.
Boring, but Practical: Unlike the Saiyans, the Frieza Race or most other highly-powerful combatants seen up to his introduction, Hit has no Super Mode or any way to boost his raw power, relying purely on technique and his Time-Skip ability. If he's outmatched, he simply learns to improve said technique(s) on the fly.
Breakout Character: One of the most popular characters to come out of Super which led him to get increased focus later in the series including his own two-parter arc and one of the key players in the Tournament of Power for Universe 6, being one of the biggest threats to Jiren. He's also heavily showcased in video games being among the most prominent Super characters in the roster.
Close-Range Combatant: Zigzagged. At very glance, it seems like Hit is exclusively a close range fighter, using his incredible speed and Time Skip to allow him to close distance between him and his enemy. However, Hit later demonstrates that he does have some incredibly powerful techniques that he can perform from quite a distance away, though it seems that his best fighting ability is from being up close and personal.
Combat Compliment: After disseminating Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, he notes that Vegeta was the first to take so many blows to his vitals.
Combat Pragmatist: His ability to skip time is a massive Story-Breaker Power, and is about as unfair in a fight as going for a Groin Attack. As there's nothing in the rules of either tournaments forbidding it, he exploits the crap out of it whenever possible.
The Comically Serious: While he isn't this in the anime, the manga gave him this attribute, with him falling asleep during the Tournament matches.
Confusion Fu: After realizing Dypso can sense when he tenses up his body in order to use his Time-Skip, Hit proceeds to deliberately tense up in order to fake him out.
Consummate Professional: Gives off this air. He's a legendary hitman, but is stoic and completely serious, and mostly acts like the only reason he's present is to get his reward and otherwise isn't interested in the situation. And even when he curbstomps Frost, he only did so to keep him from stealing his prize and doesn't even kill him, even though he very easily could have, rather than doing it to be a sadist. When shown on the job, he simply uses his Time-Skip to bypass everyone who isn't his mark, kills the target quickly and as painlessly as possible, and leaves.
Curb-Stomp Battle:
- His fight against Vegeta is completely one-sided in his favor with Hit effortlessly hitting Vegeta at vital points and foiling his attempts to block or dodge his attacks with his timeskip. Even when Vegeta finally manages to grab Hit's right arm after the asssassin hit his belly and tries to punch Hit's face, it's only for him to be finally knocked out after after Hit strikes one of his vital points with a stronger attack from his right hand. Hit thus faces Goku completely healthy and uninjured.
- The first "fight" between Goku and Hit where Hit isn't holding back his killing techniques ends with Goku killed with a single blow to the chest after about a minute of hitting empty air.
Curb Stomp Cushion: Truth be told, Hit had no chance of beating Jiren, as his strength far exceeds Hit's own, but Hit is able to use his abilities in such a way he's able to push Jiren to the edge and causes the other man to exert himself for the first time in the series, which ultimately results in his elimination.
Dark Is Not Evil: Hit may be a cold-hearted assassin who wears dark clothing, but he has a strong sense of honor and only seems to kill when he contracted to.
Decapitated Army: In a matter of speaking. Once Hit gets eliminated, things quickly take a turn for the worse for Universe 6, and Cabba, Kale and Caulifla soon join him on the bench.
Desperation Attack: Hit's "Time Cage" attack is good for keeping opponents still, but it requires a large amount of energy to keep the target still, and cannot attack in any way other than with the technique holding the target in the first place and even then it risks failing, which Hit himself notes is a very un-assassin thing to do.
Die or Fly: Hit is more than capable of averting Transformation Is a Free Action, but he doesn't because his opponent's newfound power will place him in a situation where he needs to better himself in order to win - and that seems to be the only thing truly capable of pushing him to do it.
Didn't See That Coming:
- Hit is shocked that Goku literally broke his Pocket Dimension that he was using to avoid Goku's attacks. This left him wide open for Goku's Kamehameha.
- He was clearly not expecting Jiren to be able to move while he had him stuck in a Time Cage. Jiren managing to flat out crush his final attack despite being semi-immobilized is the last straw before Jiren knocks him off the arena.
Don't Make Me Destroy You: When he's contracted to kill Goku, he mentions that he doesn't really want to, and that if Goku takes him up on his offer to disappear off the grid, he would fake his death for him. Goku doesn't take the offer and temporarily ends up dead.
The Dreaded: He's known as a legendary powerful hitman in his universe. Frost is completely terrified when Hit catches him trying to steal the reward treasures and the cube spaceship. Even Goku and Vegeta note that he is likely the most powerful member of his team and thus try to save their Super Saiyan Blue power for him. Champa confirms that he's a legendary assassin who he personally hand chose, and is confident he can defeat both Vegeta and Goku. His reputation is enough to where he is one of two people Jiren acknowledges as being worthy of fighting him. As soon as he eliminates Hit, he declares nobody else can match him.
Due to the Dead: Hit seems to have a code of paying respects at the graves of people he's killed. He takes a necklace from the crime boss he murders at the start of episode, and places it at what is seemingly that guy's gravestone, and when he kills Goku later in the episode he states that he'll return when they've dug his grave. It's not clarified why he would do this.
Dull Surprise: While everyone is shocked when they see Vegeta go Super Saiyan Blue on Cabba, Hit takes note of it, looks at Goku, and then closes his eyes again.
Explaining Your Power to the Enemy: Zigzagged. He won't tell anyone about his abilities and he kills his target seconds after engaging them, however, when fighting against Goku he does confirm Goku's observations about how his powers work and will even correct him if he's off.
Expy:
- Ends up having more than a few similarities to Z filler character Pikkon: An alien stronger than previous villains who met Goku in a tournament, was at first cold and standoffish, but eventually became a friendly rival. As an added bonus, Goku even used Super Saiyan Kaio-ken in his fight with Pikkon and used Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken against Hit.
- More obviously, Hit's outfit, mannerisms, and ability to briefly freeze time are all blatant references to Jotaro Kujo. It might even count as an Actor Allusion on the dub end given that Matthew Mercer voices both of them.
Final Boss: He is the final and most powerful fighter on Champa's team. Champa is so confident in Hit's ability that he fully expects him to win him the entire tournament, even after seeing Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue form.
Foil:
- Like Goku, Hit enjoys a good fight and likes to keep things fair and square during a duel; he doesn't attack Goku when he has the chance to end the match and would prefer to take on Goku's new technique head-on rather than prevent him from going through with it. Just like Goku, he also studies his opponent carefully and develops new ways to overtake his foes while in the middle of a battle, taking note of Goku doing the same to him. His stance even becomes very similar to Goku's after improving enough. In the Tournament of Power, they are both referred to as The Aces of their respective universes. However unlike Goku, Hit isn't a hero given his day job is an assassin. He's also very stoic to contrast the excitable Goku's.
- To Piccolo. Both are The Stoic strategists on their respective teams who make up for a lack of transformations and raw power with unorthodox techniques that allow them to get the upper-hand. Both encountered Goku in a tournament and ended up becoming a Worthy Opponent to him, as well as teaming up in an unlikely alliance to take on a greater threat. The foil is while both were enemies to Goku, Piccolo was a villain who later becomes somewhat of an Anti-Hero of the Good Is Not Nice variety, while Hit despite never being fully villainous isn't a hero either and remains an assassin albeit a nice one with a Code of Honor.
- Also one to Tien. Both are rivals to Goku, who encounter him in a Tournament and best him in a very close match, before coming to see him as a Worthy Opponent and giving him a Pet the Dog moment. Both Hit and Tien rely on unorthodox techniques in their combat to make up for the gap in strength they have to Goku, though unlike Tien, Hit is the genuine World's Best Warrior of his universe. Furthermore, Tien initially had desires to become an assassin, while Hit is an actual assassin. The contrast, much like Piccolo, is that Tien started off as a villain who pulled a Heel–Face Turn while Hit was never straight up evil but doesn't exactly join the good guys either and stays a Noble Demon.
The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: In the intro segment that shows off the Universe 6 fighters, he's the only one that looks at the screen (viewers) while firing a laser beam from his finger, almost as if he's firing it towards the viewer.
Friendly Rivalry: Near the end of episode 72, Hit and Goku show signs of this although, even though Goku had Whis then Vados hire Hit by proxy just so he could fight him, Hit still states he will kill him and to be careful.
Funny Background Event: During the Tournament of Power, Hit's enthusiastic wide-open smile can be seen◊ on the far-right side of the cheering Universe 6 stands in a quick reaction shot. This was prompted from seeing the Saiyan fusion, Kefla, sucker-punching Super Saiyan God Goku's face by surprise.
Gray-and-Grey Morality: Make no mistake, he's better than the war profiteering Frost, but by no means is Hit actually a hero, he's strictly a Hitman with a Heart. The best example of this would be during his rematch with Goku, who after offering to fake his death, does actually kill him, however briefly. This was even after the two had mutual respect. And further pushing this point, Hit makes it clear that despite their friendliness, if Goku ever has another target put on his head, Hit will treat him like a mark once again.
Good Counterpart:
- In a clever bit of misdirection, it seems that he's the real good or at least neutral counterpart to Frieza. Both are natural prodigies feared in their universe as the mightiest force of death. Both immediately curb stomp Vegeta, then face Goku in an encounter which represents both the introduction of a never-before-seen form of power for Goku, as well as the first time they've ever had to improve their skills. Both possess creative (for their time) abilities taking them beyond the typical DBZ Beam-O-War fighting style, purple as a color motif, and inhuman lifespan and aging patterns (Frieza entered his prime within the first eight years of his life and has retained it for decades, while Hit is over a thousand years old). However, Hit is a mercenary who does all his work himself, carries a professional attitude about his work, and only kills when the parameters of the job call for it, whereas Frieza is a real-estate tycoon who employs a galactic army and takes sadistic glee in the death and fear he causes. Hit outright states he cannot transform to improve his power, while Frieza has to transform in order to restrain it. Hit is standoffish, stoic, and is seen in dark colors, yet when presented with a challenge that forces him to improve he relishes the opportunity like a true Spirited Competitor, whereas Frieza plays himself off as cultured and polite, and is seen in light colors, when the whole time his greatest fear is being rivaled or surpassed and when it finally happens he slowly but surely loses any and all grip on sanity he ever had.
- Stepping outside manga-canonical materials and comparing Hit to a closer lookalike, he can also be seen as one to Frieza's older brother Cooler, almost to the extent that Cooler can be seen as the bridge in between the two. Like both Hit and Frieza, Cooler is a seemingly ageless natural prodigy and feared scourge of death with purple as a color motif. Like Hit, Cooler is far more measured and professional in his approach in contrast to Frieza's egocentric pretentiousness and sadism. However, Cooler still shares Frieza's traits of being an imperial tycoon with a team of subordinates, a Light Is Not Good motif and a raging hatred of superior opponents. Hit is a mercenary loner who goes by Dark Is Not Evil and welcomes a true challenge as a chance to test and better himself.
- He could also be considered one to Mercenary Tao. Both being well known and feared assassins, but whereas Tao is a Psycho for Hire who not only takes personal glee in his kills but will kill people he doesn't even need to kill simply because they're in his way or they slighted him in some way (Bora, The Tailor), Hit is very professional in his kills, treating them as nothing more than a job and only ever kills who he's hired to kill, bypassing everyone else. Hit also has a code of honor when it comes to fighting and welcomes a good challenge while Tao is a Dirty Coward who resorts to underhanded tactics the moment the fight stops going his way.
Graceful Loser: He takes his loss to Goku during their rematch in stride, vowing to kill Goku again someday before leaving.
Hard Work Hardly Works: Averted massively, as per his own admittance. He can't transform to multiply his power, so he has to use good old-fashioned hard work to get stronger.
Hero Killer: Even if his death was temporary, he manages to take out Goku.
Hitman with a Heart: Downplayed. He may be a cold, unhesitating killer, but he's also a Noble Demon with a code of honour who goes out of his way to avoid collateral damage.
Holding Back the Phlebotinum: He's unable to use his best techniques in both the Universe 6 tournament and the Tournament of Power because they're specifically assassination techniques, and killing your opponent isn't allowed. This is one reason Goku ordered a hit on himself: he wanted to fight Hit at his best, with no holds barred.
Honor Before Reason:
- Hit could have beaten Goku at several points during the fight, but deliberately allows Goku to recover or fights fairly out of respect despite Champa's insistence that he finish the fight immediately. He even decides to throw the final fight against Monaka as a sign of respect for Goku even though he knew the outcome of said action would be Champa murdering him.
- In Episode 71, he offers to let Goku live while telling whoever contracted him that he had killed him out of respect for him. Goku himself then pulls this trope by refusing and wanting to try fighting Hit as an equal. Once Goku does so, however, he doesn't hesitate to go through with the kill.
Hopeless Boss Fight: Regardless of whether Hit was one of the best fighters in the Tournament of Powers, he was still caught up in one of this during his fight with Jiren, specially when his last attack against him didn't work.
Hot-Blooded: He hides it heavily under his stoic demeanor, but ultimately Hit is excited to meet someone like Goku who can fight him all-out on equal terms.
I Am Not Left-Handed:
- After improving his Time-Skip technique the first time, Hit tells Goku the new duration. He then notes that Goku will likely adapt in the same way he did the first time and uses the technique to hit Goku with Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs, revealing that he actually increased the duration more than double what he told Goku.
- Goku takes notice near the end of their fight in Episode 40 that, due to the tournament's no-kill rule, Hit has actually been holding back during the entire match and hasn't been fighting all out in case he accidentally killed someone. Goku notes that, if he had been able to kill, Hit could have beaten him with his last attack.
- Goku trains to adapt to Hit's Time-Skip, only to be caught off-guard when Hit uses an Intangible Man technique when next they meet.
- During his fight with Jiren, once he realizes his Time-Skip ability won't do him much good, Hit pulls all stops and traps Jiren in a "cage of time", where he supposedly is left paralyzed in place. He then tries to unleash one final attack when it seems that even that won't be enough to deal with Jiren, but this still isn't enough to deal with him, and he winds up being eliminated.
Informed Ability: His killing techniques in the manga. While Hit showcases them in the anime in his rematch against Goku and in the Tournament of Power, he never once uses them in the manga despite them being implied that Hit could use them like in the anime.
Intangible Man: When he shows up to kill Goku, he reveals a technique that makes physical attacks pass right through him. Vados reveals that what Hit is really doing is using the "time" he's "skipped" with his Time-Skip technique to create a pocket universe, which partially phases him out of local time-space. The downside is that he's limited in his attacking options while doing this, and he can't keep it up forever. Once Goku figures out that Hit is "not there", he's able to break down the pocket universe and attack Hit anyway.
Knight of Cerebus: Played With. While Hit is not a villain, he is a major antagonistic force in two of 'Super' arcs. He lacks any comical trait, and in fact, when the show focuses on him, there is a Tone Shift from a lighthearted show to a noir-ish mood, very typical of cyberpunk stories.
Know When to Fold 'Em: After seeing Jiren neutralize Kale with one attack, he wisely retreats and allows Goku to handle the problem.
Later-Installment Weirdness: While there have been a fair share of enemies and allies with Confusion Fu that keeps the enemy on their toes, Hit's abilities are so distinct from what is usually encountered that he's pretty much a Puzzle Boss where it requires both strength and brains to understand both how Hit's powers work and be strong enough to counter them every time he fights his enemies.
The Leader: The unofficial one of Universe 6 during the Tournament of Power by virtue of being their World's Strongest Man. The Supreme Kai of Universe 11 notes he's both their ace and emotional support and concludes that losing him would quickly result in Universe 6 falling shortly afterwards. He was sadly proven right.
Meaningful Name:
- He's a rather serious warrior and martial artist, named Hit. He's also a legendary hitman, making this a pun on his job.
- When his name was first translated into Roman characters, it was mistranslated to "Heat", making it seem like he had a connection with Frost. Needless to say, both notions were quickly corrected.
Mundane Utility: The real purpose behind his powerful Time-Skip ability is to avoid being detected by anyone except his target.
Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Hit. His character notes even suggest the name (which is a pun on "hitman") is supposed to imply a sense of danger.
Noble Demon: Despite being a Professional Killer, he's actually quite noble and chivalrous all things considered. Hit allows Goku to recover from his heavy blow because Goku's strength and technique forced him to improve his own abilities, and he feels he owes the other fighter for that. He also avoids sniping Goku while he's preparing his ultimate technique. He also rings himself out when Monaka successfully punched him to return Goku's favor when he did the same. In Episode 71, he offers to let Goku live and walk away if he disappears. Goku refuses and temporarily dies because of it. Of the hits we've seen him do, he also avoids killing anyone but his target, using his Time-Skip to just bypass guards and civilians. He also lets his targets know they're about to die, kills them from the front, and does so quickly with a minimum of pain.
No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: Make no mistake, Hit will kill you if he's paid to do it, regardless of whether you prove a challenge or not, as he's a Professional Killer. That said, if you do prove a challenge he'll enjoy the chance to improve his skills while trying to kill you.
No-Nonsense Nemesis: Hit will not toy around with his targets, preferring to end his battles or kill his targets as efficiently as possible. At least, until he finds a worthy opponent. This is shown perfectly in episode 71 when we see him in the middle of a hit job on a local crime boss. He uses Time-Skip to bypass all the bosses' security guards and reach his target, calmly tells said target that he's hired to kill him, then promptly punches a hole through said target's chest, killing him instantly. And when he fights Goku again, he lets Goku hit him a few times to showcase his intangibly powers, then promptly punches him through the heart, killing him instantly.
Nothing Personal: Hit is a professional. There is no malice in what he does, only pragmatism and dignity. Heck, the only reason he comes after Frost was because the emperor was putting a wrench in his own arrangement with Vados. He makes this more clear than ever when he's hired to kill Goku. He'll do the job, make no mistake, but he not for a moment allows this to dampen his open fondness for the other.
Not So Above It All: During the match, once Goku starts getting the upper-hand, he starts screaming and clutching his arms presumably to power up, only to reveal that he can't power up like the Saiyans and simply improved the duration of his Time-Skip. He was only screaming like that to imitate Goku. It seems Goku's eccentric ways have rubbed off on him.
Not So Similar: To Frieza of all people when he announces to Goku and the audience that because he was so powerful, he never had to improve himself once in his life. Unlike Frieza, however, he improves on-the-fly, and is grateful to Goku for pushing him to get better.
Not So Stoic:
- He was cold and emotionless for most of the tournament, including in his fight with Vegeta. He begins to shed his stoic demeanor after he finds a Worthy Opponent in Goku. He even genuinely smiles, something several characters note.
- During the Tournament of Power, Hit remained his usual cold self for most of the tournament... until it took him to fight Jiren, and started to scream out of frustration at how useless he was against the dreaded Gray of Universe 11.
  Hit: The moment I couldn't stop him with one hit, it was all over.
Oh, Crap!:
- Has a minor one when Goku figures out his technique and manages to block his attacks and hit him. He has a major one after Goku No Sells his Time-Skip technique when using his Super Saiyan Blue/Kaioken combination. His most severe one is when he faces the prospect of his own death at the hands of Champa for losing the tournament.
- He suffers another one of these when Jiren not only quickly adapts to his Time-Skip ability, but manages to overcome his Cage of Time and move during it, despite being supposed to be frozen in time, and manage to nullify and destroy his final attack, leaving him at his mercy.
One-Hit Kill: He uses a single strike to perform assassination, shooting a beam from his fist which evidently crushes the victim's heart.
The One That Got Away: Vegeta never got to settle the score with Hit in the Tournament of Power as he had hoped. In the manga, this extends to Goku as well because the "Hit Rematch" mini-arc was anime only, and in the Tournament they decide to team up against Universe 11 much like in the anime.
Only in It for the Money: He's only involved in the tournament to get Champa's cube as Vados offered him, and otherwise doesn't seem at all interested in the other matches at all. He only does anything about Frost because he was trying to steal his prize. Later subverted when he faces off against Goku and considers him a Worthy Opponent. This sentiment was enough for Hit to throw the tournament to Monaka. He even tells Champa that he doesn't want the space cube anymore.
Out-of-Character Moment: During the Champa Arc tournament, the normally Stoic Hit goes all Screaming Warrior to power up like most characters. Subverted in that it was only for show, and he immediately points out he can't just transform to power up, but has to avert Hard Work Hardly Works.
Overshadowed by Awesome: More overpowered by awesome. Hit is practically unbeatable on paper, but Goku's talent for powering up just simply overrides every one of Hit's sequential advantages over him.
Pet the Dog: In their second fight, Hit offered Goku the opportunity to fake his death if he just disappeared off the grid. Goku, however is more focused on fighting Hit at full strength and dies as a result. Hit also states he would visit Goku's grave once it was completed.
Pocket Dimension: He has a phase ability that works by him storing the time he skips in another dimension, which he can freely enter. Once he is in this dimension he can't be hit, but he's free to attack this opponent, although it's limited. He can't stay in it forever, however, since it's limited to the time he has stored and it can be shattered by a powerful energy burst.
Power Trio: In Super Dragon Ball Heroes he forms one with Goku and Jiren as the three of them team up to fight Zamasu and later Hearts.
Pressure Point: Hit uses his Time-Skip technique to target the vital parts of his opponents, critically damaging them in the process. Hit is surprised that Vegeta is able to survive this (despite being KO'd) and he says that if Goku keeps on attacking him before finding out how to dodge his technique, Goku will die.
Professional Killer: He's a legendary hitman in his universe. When he confronts Frost about trying to steal the treasure and cube ship, Frost asks if Champa or someone from their universe hired him to kill him. According to Whis, Hit has never failed to kill a target, given him the nickname "The Flawless Hit".
Purple Is Powerful: Has purple skin, and is considered the most powerful member of the team, proving to be far more powerful than Frost and Cabba. Even without his main ability, he's still extremely powerful.
Puzzle Boss: What makes Hit so dangerous isn't his physical power, but his abilities. He has the ability to skip time and attack his opponent when they're vulnerable. He also has invisible energy attacks that can instantly stops someone's heart if they hit on top of being able to create a pocket dimension where he stores all the time he skipped, which allows him to phase through his enemy's attacks like a ghost. Every time Goku fights Hit, he spends most of the battle just trying to figure out and counter Hit's techniques.
Punny Name: His name is Hit, as of "hitman", and he is well known for killing and defeating people with just one hit.
Champa: Hit! Nice hit!
Really 700 Years Old: Hit is over 1,000 years old. He looks to be only in his mid-40s by mortal standards.
Red Baron: He is given the nickname, "The Flawless Hit", since he never fails to kill a target.
Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red eyes, and looks rather intimidating. Frost definitely fears him and for good reasons since he is the best assassin in his universe who never fails to kill a target.
Senior Sleep-Cycle: The manga humorously gives Hit this attribute, as he sleeps through most of the tournament matches. This seems to partly be a display of disinterest in the low-stakes battles, but considering that he's over 1,000 years old, he might need the shuteye for his old bones.
Shadow Archetype: Hit shares Goku's uncanny ability to adapt and evolve new techniques as a fight drags out. Initially, Hit is also completely disinterested in fighting for the sake of it, in complete contrast to Goku, but the longer the two fight, the more Hit starts to enjoy it.
Signature Move: His Time-Skip technique, which in itself is abroad label for a variety of Hit's techniques.
Single-Stroke Battle: How the result of Goku and Hit's rematch in episode 71 ends, not only is Goku unable to even touch Hit thanks to the latter's Intangible Man powers but Hit only needs to fire one of his signature killing fist attacks to crush Goku's heart and kill him.
Small Role, Big Impact: In the manga's version of the Tournament of Power. Hit gets taken out easily by Jiren in the first few minutes of the tournament, but in that brief time he manages to save CSSB Goku from getting knocked off after his initial Curb-Stomp Battle with the Gray. If Hit hadn't intervened, Jiren would have easily eliminated Goku, and would have torn through the rest of the competition with basically zero resistance without Ultra Instinct to challenge him. He would have undoubtedly been the victor which, depending on how truthful he was about his wish, would have led to the seven universes Zeno destroyed never being brought back.
Spirited Competitor: What Hit is Beneath the Mask, to the surprise of everyone in-universe. The reason for his stoic behavior is because no one in his Universe was ever able to push Hit to his limits... and then he met Goku.
Hit: Your greatness has fueled my own Goku! As you rise even higher, then by necessity so will I! I want to see where this competition goes, for my own sake! (smirks) Let's take this to its peak.
The Stoic: Rarely, if ever drops his calm, serious demeanor no matter what is going on around him. Even having a cracked glass shard fly directly at him made from Vados' barrier doesn't do so much as make him open his eyes. Once Goku gives him a good fight, he starts getting serious, and he is shown to break his stoic view, either by reacting in a surprised and/or angry manner or even smiling.
Shout-Out: His stoic attitude, coated purple appearance and time-stopping power pay tribute to Jotaro Kujo.
Stock Shōnen Rival: To a lesser degree than Vegeta and Piccolo, but Hit still checks most of the criteria. He is Goku's primary rival who notably does not join Goku's team. Hit contrasts Goku by being stoic, serious, and calculating (not unlike Piccolo), but nonetheless treats Goku as a Worthy Opponent who he respects for his strength and his drive. Goku extends the same courtesy to Hit and is eager for further battles with him to better himself.
Story-Breaker Power:
- While Hit is strong in his own right, his true power lies in his special technique. He is able to Skip Time for a fraction of a second. Since Hit has Super-Speed, even this brief period is enough for him to cause major damage that his opponents have almost no hope of defending against. There is also no limit to the amount of times he can use this technique and only has a very brief cooldown between uses. When Goku learns to counter it, Hit learns to improve the technique each time, going from .2, to .5, and beyond.
- When Goku has his rematch with Hit, he shows off his improved abilities, like having invisible energy attacks that can instantly stop someone's heart if they land. He also can create a pocket dimension where he stores all the time he skipped, allowing him to phase through attacks like a ghost. Goku only manages to overcome Hit thanks to being a combat genius who quickly learns how to counter Hit's techniques.
Superpower Lottery: While Hit is a powerful fighter in his own right, his true strength lies in his ability to skip time for a fraction of a second, allowing him to bypass attacks and damage an enemy's vitals before they can react. And if he's facing a particularly strong opponent like Goku, he can improve the duration of his Time-Skip. His rematch with Goku also shows he can store all the time he skipped in a pocket dimension which phases him out of local space-time and makes him virtually untouchable. Aside from that, Hit can fire invisible ki blasts that can instantly stop a target's heart and can phase through objects to hit opponents. Both of Goku's fights with Hit have him spending the majority of the fight trying to figure out how to counter Hit's techniques
Super-Speed: While it's not particularly focused on, Hit moves incredibly fast even for the characters of DB, as he's able to land several solid blows on his opponent in fractions of a second, and is shown to move considerably fast when he needs to. This makes his time-skip, which only lasts a fraction of a second prior to his improvement, deadly. While a fraction of a second may seem instantaneous to an ordinary human, a fraction can be much longer for someone who can move and perceive things much, much faster.
Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Downplayed, but a stoic enemy met in a tournament who pushes Goku to his limits and forces him to use Kaio-ken on top of Super Saiyan to get a win that turns from an Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy to a Friendly Rival very similarly resembles Pikkon, who himself is a Suspiciously Similar Substitute to Piccolo. But that said, Pikkon and Hit have many differences in ability and personality, the former being a Hot-Blooded Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy with Elemental Powers and Hit being The Stoic with Time Stands Still powers.
This Is Gonna Suck:
- Hit knew what was waiting for him the moment he purposefully lost the tournament to Universe 7 as a result of his new-found respect for Goku: Champa's wrath.
- As soon as Jiren breaks his final attack against him, Hit flat out admits he knew he wasn't going to stop him, and was eliminated for his trouble.
Time Master: He can skip time for a fraction of a second to dodge opponents and damage them. He decimated Vegeta with this technique, but Goku is able to figure out how it works and anticipated his attacks ahead of time, blocking before Hit's attacks could reach their target. After a while with fighting Goku, Hit is able to extend this to 0.2 of a second, then later extended it to a half of a second. He keeps improving as he continues to fight Goku. In their rematch, Hit reveals that he can store all the time he skipped in a pocket dimension, allowing him phase out of local space-time, making him almost untouchable.
Time Stands Still: Hit can skip time very briefly that gives the illusion of stopping time, allowing him to avoid attacks and counter them. For characters like Goku, they can only see him vanish, but once Goku figures this out, he's able to predict how Hit will attack. Hit improves the technique several times over the course of his fight with Goku. As shown with his fight with Jiren, his final technique allows him to trap an opponent in a field of frozen time, though a sufficiently powerful foe can force their way through it.
Took a Level in Badass:
- In the anime, in just a few minutes of fighting Goku, Hit increases his Time-Skip ability from 0.1 to 0.5, utterly demolishing Super Saiyan Blue Goku. He does it again when he manages to Time-Skip Goku when he's using his Super Saiyan Blue/Kaio-ken combo that originally overwhelmed him. During the time after the tournament, Hit learns how to create a pocket dimension where he stores all the time he uses from his Time-Skip, giving him a phase ability.
- In the manga, he doesn't level up in literal minutes like his anime counterpart, but Goku does note that he got stronger between the Champa arc and the Tournament of Power. Enough to make Goku quite nervous and push a suppressed Jiren back (without actually damaging him though), who previously was not budged by CSSB Goku's blows. Additionally, he seems to be able to use his full power at will in the tournament, while doing so in the Champa arc required him to go through a lengthy charge sequence and explicitly could only last a minute before he gassed out.
Underestimating Badassery: Played With. Hit assumed that Jiren was a dangerous foe that he needed to get rid of when the time came, but when the two came to blows, Hit made the deadly mistake of assuming he could hold Jiren for several minutes in his Desperation Attack. He's instantly proven wrong, and is soon eliminated for his troubles.
Weak, but Skilled: In a world of sledgehammers, Hit's a scalpel. While he is lacking in the power department compared to some of the heavy hitters, his skill with his Time-Skip and Pressure Point attacks means that it doesn't matter.
- When it comes to his fight against Vegeta and Goku as Super Saiyan Blue, his mastery of Time-Skip and precise damage on their vital parts allows him to easily overwhelm Vegeta and give Goku a very hard time. This is especially exemplified when he is able to hold his own against a Kaio-ken-empowered Goku with his improved Time-Skip despite being far weaker than the latter and even then, it turns out that he is holding back due to withholding his killing techniques and could possibly even win if he were allowed to use it.
- His second fight with Goku proves the above is not idle guesswork: Hit becomes the first person to kill Goku in a straight-up fight, even if it didn't stick.
- It also makes him capable of holding his own against Jiren as well, though in the end it didn't save him from being eliminated.
Weaksauce Weakness: Downplayed, but it's stated that all of Hit's time-manipulation abilities can be countered by... simply being stronger than him. It means that it would make him the opposite of Guldo, where Guldo's time manipulation worked regardless of how strong his opponents are, Hit has to be at above the level of his opponent or close to it for him to be effective, as even his pocket dimension can be countered by powering through it.
What You Are in the Dark: His decision to allow himself to be humiliatingly defeated in one punch by Universe 7's supposed "ace-in-the-hole" Monaka is the ultimate test of character for Hit that proves he truly is an honorable warrior, as Goku had correctly judged him to be during their preceding fight.
When He Smiles: Meta example - the first smirk Hit made was during his defiance of Champa, allowing Goku to power up, and revealing that Beneath the Mask he is a Not So Stoic Spirited Competitor and Challenge Seeker. To say these traits endeared him in the eyes of the Dragonball fandom is an understatement.
Willfully Weak: His performance against Goku and Vegeta in the Universe 6 Tournament arc, for all his power and how difficult he was for Goku to fight, Hit was not able to fight at full power because his strength is being able to kill his targets, not fight them. Thus, he has to hold back enough to not kill Goku or Vegeta, something that is a bit tricky for him to do. When he later fights Goku without this restraint, we see how truly deadly he is.
Worthy Opponent: Hit comes to see Goku as this after he successfully counters his Time-Skip ability and forces him to improve for the first time in his life. Goku feels the same and reveals a technique he has been creating to use against Beerus, his Super Saiyan Blue/Kaio-ken combination. If one pays attention, they'll even notice that the combat stance he chose to adopt for his final Time-Skip upgrade is a mirror of Goku's own. He respects Goku so much that when he's hired by a mysterious client to kill him, he actually offers Goku a chance to live if he goes into hiding, in contrast to his last target who was willing to offer any sort of reward in return for life with Hit coldly brushing him off before committing the deed. And when said client turns out to be GOKU HIMSELF VIA PROXY (because he really wanted to fight Hit at his best), Hit asks if there's a timetable on the assignment and states that he will take his time killing Goku, clearly indicating that he too enjoys their fights.
World's Best Warrior: He is by far the best fighter of Universe 6. His skills are so sharp that he had no one challenged him until he met Goku during the Champa Saga. During his rematch with Goku, it's easy to see why. He can kill an opponent instantly with one well-placed invisible energy shock to the heart.
World's Strongest Man: He is said to be the strongest unfused mortal fighter from Universe 6, hand chosen by Champa to win him the entire tournament, and he more than lives up to his hype. His Time-Skip technique allows him to move faster than even a Super Saiyan Blue, and he's fast enough normally to be close to that level. Furthermore, he can adapt at an incredible rate, improving his Time-Skip numerous times as Goku adapts and develop counter-strategies. Because of this, he's able to easily one-shot Frost, handily beat Vegeta at full strength, and fight Goku to a standstill despite Goku having prior knowledge of Hit's abilities and fighting style from seeing Vegeta's fight and in the anime using the Kaio-ken to make himself ten times stronger and faster as a Super Saiyan Blue. Goku notes that, if not for the tournament rules forbidding killing blows, Hit would have likely killed him with his last attack. Even more impressive given that Vegeta and Goku in Super Saiyan Blue likely surpass him in raw power, yet Hit's skill and application of power gives him just that much of an edge.

Caulifla

"Of course, I'm scared...of my infinite potential! Seeing Jiren and Son Goku fight made me certain. I'm a Saiyan too. I'm sure I can still get much, much stronger."

A Saiyan woman from Planet Sadala, and the younger sister of Renso. She is a delinquent, but also a fighting genius. She joins the Universe 6 team for the Tournament of Power. Considered a key player in the Tournament of Power for Universe 6.

The Ace: While she is not a member of Sadala's army unlike Cabba, in the manga she proves her worth as being The Dreaded, a prodigy that even the members of the Sadala army fear to mess with. During her fight with Frieza, Frieza states that she as a Super Saiyan is miles stronger than Goku was the first time he transformed, putting her on a whole different league. She, however, is still weaker than Golden Frieza, and vastly weaker than Kale.
Action Girl: One of the 14 female fighters for the Tournament of Power for Universe 6, Caulifla is a Saiyan girl with immense potential, so much she got the way to transform into Super Saiyan very easy. She, Kale, and Ribrianne are also the most promoted characters in promotional material like Dragon Ball Heroes outside of Jiren.
Adaptational Jerkass: Her softer qualities like her confidence in Kale are all but absent in the manga at first, but her caring side towards Kale shows up once Kale loses control of her powers.
- In the anime she never even speaks to Magetta. In the manga, she insults him for no reasons, almost making him forfeit the tournament.
Adaptational Wimp: Suffers this in the manga. In the anime, she was clearly made out to be stronger than Cabba in terms of raw power, and as a Super Saiyan 2 is roughly on par with a controlled Berserk Kale. In the manga, Cabba easily trounces her once he goes Super Saiyan. Caulifla also doesn't master the Super Saiyan 2 as easily as she does in the anime, and later when she fights Frieza, Frieza toys with her in his final form, and Golden Form with ease. That said her base form is much stronger than Cabba's and she gains the Super Saiyan form off screen which she mentions was rather easy to achieve. While Caulifla in the anime managed a few people, she never eliminates a single person except Gohan as Kefla. Said trope ends up being responsible for her elimination: Kefla in the manga is significantly less powerful because Caulifla herself is much weaker.
Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
- Her dynamic with Kale in the manga. In the anime, the two are the best of friends and clearly care for one another, their relationship being a student/teacher dynamic, with Kale having an implied crush on her. In the manga, while Caulifla still has a bit of respect for Kale, their relationship isn't as close as it is in the anime, with Caulifla treating her more like a subordinate while Kale sees her more as a sister. It can best be seen in how Kale was recruited into the tournament. In the anime, Caulifla made Kale's involvement a stipulation for her agreeing to fight, while in the manga she is somewhat surprised, even annoyed, that Cabba brought her along. Though once she sees how strong Kale is, she is visibly proud of her and she's greatly concerned for Kale's safety once told Kale could be destroyed by her own power.
- In the manga, her relationship with Goku is entirely omitted and they don't even interact much less fight each other during the tournament.
Ambiguously Bi: In a rarity for Dragon Ball, there are a few hints that Caulifla is attracted to men and women in the anime. She has a very deep emotional connection to Kale who she is both physically and verbally protective of. And at the same time, she brushes off Kale's jealousy of Cabba, not by claiming she isn't into guys, but by stating Cabba specifically isn't the type of guy she'd be into.
Anime Hair: An even more exaggerated spiky hairstyle than most of the Saiyan characters. If most Saiyans have pineapple hair, she has Lavos hair.
Anti-Villain: Unlike her law-serving older brother Renso, Cabba, or a good portion of her race, she's a crass, troublemaking tomboy who runs an underground group of Saiyan delinquents. That said, she's surprisingly tamed in her fighting style and behavior towards allies. Compared to the other fighters, some comprising of sadists and tricksters, Caulifla prefers the straight thrill of battle without the need for underhanded moves.
Badass Adorable: She may be the leader of a gang of delinquents, but she can look absolutely adorable when she's happy or excited. She's also extremely powerful.
Benevolent Boss: Kale, specifically, is one underling she cares deeply about in terms of her well-being, due to being her personal student. The rest of her gang, to a lesser extent, aren't blatantly mistreated by her, and they respect her back without a second thought.
Berserk Button: Don't ever harm Kale right in front of her or she will go ballistic. Universe 10 learned this the hard way. Cabba was lucky as he only got yelled at for making Kale cry.
Big Eater: Her first scene introduces her biting down on a hunk of meat. Once Cabba meets with her, she is still eating it.
Breast Expansion: Her Ultra Saiyan form includes a few cup sizes with all that muscle, and the camera even focuses on her chest when it happens just in case we didn't get the hint.
Calling Your Attacks: Crush Cannon!
Combat Pragmatist: Caulifla is a street fighter, not a refined martial artist. Thus, she has no problems fighting dirty. During her rematch with Goku, she fakes him out by pretending to fire a Ki blast only to punch Goku in the gut while he's distracted.
Curb-Stomp Battle:
- While she and Kale were giving a fatigued Goku a run for his money as a Super Saiyan 2, once he turns Super Saiyan God, it quickly becomes apparent that Caulifla is completely outmatched as it only takes a single punch and a ki blast from Super Saiyan God Goku to bring her down.
- In the manga, Frieza effortlessly toys with her, even when she goes Super Saiyan.
Determinator: Kasheral's Pride Troopers squadron having her on the ropes, forcing her to tank damage futilely to protect Kale? Jiren taking out her universe's greatest fighter, Hit, crippling their survivability? Caulifla acknowledged the dangers of both situations, but doesn't allow either to ruin her moral to fight until the end. Plus, for the sake of keeping Kale's morale up, she has to maintain this attitude.
Distaff Counterpart: Seems to be the Universe 6 equivalent to Goku.
- Both have a tendency to be very, very rude and direct, both due to having No Social Skills.
- Both are among the few members of the Saiyan race who aren't affiliated with a Galactic organization.
- They also have older brothers and are affiliated with another Saiyan who has a meek personality masking incredible power (Gohan and Kale). As a sort of Call-Back, her scene◊ holding a depowered Kale is the same as Goku holding Gohan, with a proud look on their faces.
- Likewise, both are geniuses at combat, with an ability to learn very fast. Caulifla learned the Super Saiyan 2 transformation by accident! The key difference is that while Goku was a Token Good Teammate to his Saiyan race, Caulifla is something of a Token Evil Teammate to hers.
  Caulifla: Get real. We're deciding on who's the strongest of all the universes.
  Goku: The strongest of all the universes, huh? So you're just like me.
- Like Goku, Caulifla enjoys taking on fighters that are much stronger than even her. When faced with an intimidating challenge, she approaches it with enthusiasm. This is notable, in that while most Saiyans have no issue fighting somebody of equal or lower strength (moreso lower), they tend to lose a ton of confidence when going up against someone stronger. Goku and Caulifla are the exceptions.
- Both Saiyans have No Sense of Personal Space when they are both very excited. Caulifla has a tendency to do this when she finds a new Super Saiyan transformation she never saw before, and Goku gets this when he finds out there's a strong opponent nearby or hears about them.
- Her relation with Kale is the complete opposite of Goku and the original Broly. While Broly hated Kakarot with a burning passion over simplistic motives, Kale adores Caulifla as her big sis, to overprotective terms. While Goku never gave Broly a thought, Caulifla also loves her, thinking of her as her protegee, and trying to make her know she is better than she thinks. Goku was a trigger to Broly's Unstoppable Rage, while Caulifla is the opposite to Kale, calming her down from her transformation (and Kale never tries to attack Caulifla while transformed).
  - However, her relationship with Kale can fairly be compared to the one Goku shares with the canonical version of Broly nowadays. Broly considers Goku a good friend and training partner, similar to Kale and Caulifla. Also Goku now cares about Broly and, although not as overprotective as Caulifla is of Kale, he does want to protect Broly from people like Freezer after what happened when they met. Also Goku is training Broly to control his powers similar to how Caulifa trained Kale. And by the time of "Super Hero", Broly has been shown to get emotional at seeing Goku fight which could mean he's getting more attached to Goku the more time they spend together, which mean they could eventually share a bond as strong as Caulifla and Kale have.
- Much like Vegeta unexpectedly became the teacher for Cabba during their battle, Goku ends up becoming the teacher for Caulifla when they battle.
Edible Theme Naming: Like all Saiyans, her name is taken from a vegetable, cauliflower.
Even the Girls Want Her: It is implied that her disciple Kale has feelings for her.
Fearless Fool: She tends to jump into battle, fueled by her Saiyan battle lust, and fight opponents that can be varying degrees above her.
Foil:
- To Paragus, Broly's father from the Non-Serial movies. While Broly saved Paragus when he was a baby, Paragus decided to use his power for universal conquest through mind control. Caulifla, however, treats Kale very well, encouraging her and telling her how proud she is of her.
- To Goku, they share many similarities, they are both big eaters, they both love to fight and both help another Saiyan with a meek personality and that hides incredible power (Gohan and Kale respectively).
Genki Girl: Despite her status as leader of a gang, she is quite energetic and nice to hang around, especially around Kale.
Caulifla: Go on—give it a shot! Just make your back tingle with power, and then you pop—PAH!
The Gift:
- Renso describes her as even more talented than himself, and it shows. She is able to achieve Super Saiyan without using anger, only needing Cabba to describe to her how the transformation feels in order to replicate it. She's also the first canon female Super Saiyan introduced (Kale's berserk Super Saiyan state form being shown in previews before Caulifla's introduction). She later unlocks Super Saiyan 2 by accident in order to prevent a crazed Kale from killing Cabba, and is able to master it just by seeing Goku demonstrate it. This also applies to her fighting technique.
- Though she starts out as a simple brawler that Goku can easily outmaneuver, simply seeing him exploit her weaknesses is enough to refine her technique.
Good Old Fisticuffs: Whis pointed out that Caulfila's fighting style is akin to street brawling. While she got a few scruffy hits on Goku at first, Caulifla is quickly outpaced by Goku's martial artist training and experience. It's only when she quickly adapted and evolved her combative skills to mirror Goku's own, that the two Saiyans became reasonably on par with each other.
Handshake Refusal: She slaps Goku's hand aside when he introduces himself, as they're about to engage in a battle with all the universes at stake. Goku is actually impressed, noting that she's like himself.
Impossible Hourglass Figure: Just look at her belly and waist◊.
Instant Expert: Most likely helped by already being incredibly strong, but turning Super Saiyan was fairly easy for her. In fact, she is the only Saiyan not in emotional distress prior to transforming. She even instinctively moves up to Super Saiyan 2 without any training. However, as episode 100 revealed while she can access it she cannot control it as easily, requiring a bit of help from Goku, and even then she's nowhere near the level to access Super Saiyan Blue even if she wants the transformation, as Goku states (though he also notes she might easily reach Super Saiyan 3 during the tournament at her rate).
Japanese Delinquent: Caulifla, a gang leader herself, appears to be dressed closely to a bosozoku. Her preferred pose is a yanki zuwari, or yankee squat, which is commonly seen among delinquent youths.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Caulifla has no problem proving her rude superiority towards others, as demonstrated by her initial interactions with Cabba and Goku. Yet, at the same time, she's quick to come to like them, becoming friends with Cabba after he helps her transform, and coming to see Goku as a mentor after seeing his strength.
The Knights Who Say "Squee!": She can get overly excited when it comes to learning the Super Saiyan forms. She's all over Cabba and Goku to teach her Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2, respectively. It's worth noting that, in the latter case, she was supposed to be fighting Goku at the time (not that Goku was any better about that).
Goku: Not bad. You might achieve the Super Saiyan 3 transformation at this rate.
Caulifla: (excited) There's a [Super Saiyan] three?!
Know When to Fold 'Em:
- While she was stubborn about the idea at first, Caulifla dropped her nearsighted tussle with Universe 4's Monna after being persuaded by Cabba and Kale.
- Along with Kale, Caulifla was given a pair of Potara earrings to use as a last resort against an enemy they couldn't defeat. The fact that Caulifla immediately suggested using them to Kale after taking that beating from Super Saiyan God Goku indicates that she realized rather quickly that she had absolutely no chance of defeating him in her Super Saiyan 2 state even with Kale's help, and that fusion was their only hope.
Let Me at Him!: Her general attitude towards opponents, like Monna and the Pride Troopers, after they instigated a fight against her and Kale.
Little Miss Badass: She is around Cabba's size, but she's said to be the strongest Saiyan woman in Universe 6. Once she's taught how to transform, she quickly surpasses him.
Male Gaze: When accessing the Third Grade Transformation, the camera briefly focuses on her rather nicely endowed chest. If that's not enough, her rematch against Goku has a few shots of her butt-crack/lower back dimples.
Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: She is the hot-blooded delinquent type, with the polite Cabba, who is a member of his planet's defense forces.
Mythology Gag: Caulifla's techniques share the same sound effect as the original Broly but speed up, with keeping with his inspiration to Kale. As seen here. These sounds effects are shared with Kale and Kefla.
Morality Chain: Has to be one for Kale after she nearly tries to kill Cabba when she unlocks her berserk Super Saiyan state.
Muscles Are Meaningless:
- Her thin figure is deceptively strong, which she showcases quite well during her fight with Napapa, an opponent more than twice her size as she stops him dead cold when he tries to charge her over the edge, and then lifts and slams him out of the ring. Considering she's a Saiyan it's not too surprising, as members of the race are known to possess incredible, physical strength.
- This mentality is invoked when she tries to demonstrate her Super Saiyan Grade III form against Goku, bulking up her upper body considerably. However, after Goku easily evaded and tired Caulifla out of the form, he quickly advised her that the temporary muscle mass and strength isn't worth the speed and stability cost.
Non-Standard Character Design: Like Cabba, she is pretty different from the Saiyans in Universe 7. Her eyes are similar to his, and her figure is slim, almost lacking muscle.
Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: She's one of the strongest Saiyans in Universe 6, as well one of its strongest warriors, but next to Goku and Vegeta, she's not anything special. Eventually, she gets overwhelmed and is forced to hide in a random corner of the ring with Kale to recover for some time while everyone else keeps duking it out.
No Sense of Personal Space: She tends to talk real close to people, with complaining to Cabba to his face, encouraging Kale deep close, and even gushing over Goku showing her Super Saiyan 2 form. This actually triggers jealousy in Kale due to thinking she and Cabba have something, which isn't the case.
Pet the Dog: Caulifla's a rude and violent delinquent who runs a gang, but the way she treats Kale shows a much softer side to her. She loves her student, believes she has the potential to be a great fighter, hates saying anything bad about her, and gets very protective of her when she believes Cabba goes too far with his insults towards her.
- In the manga, Adaptational Jerkass aside, Kale revealed to Cabba that Caulifla's gang members were once street urchins that she took in.
Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Tiny like Cabba, but Renso claims she's even stronger than he was before the injury. This is highlighted greatly in her brief match against the towering sumo Napapa. Despite Napapa's fighting stance taking full advantage of corner spacing and overpowering opponents with his girth, the smaller Caulifla managed to suplex him off the arena boundaries.
Purple Is Powerful: She wears baggy purple pants and is considered quite prodigiously formidable based on her older brother's voucher. It also helps that she was able to attain and maintain Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 forms within a day.
Red Is Violent: Caulifla's ki blasts, specifically her "Crush Cannon", have a ruby coloring.
Refusal of the Call: She refused Cabba's offer to join the Tournament of Power, even after Cabba told her about the stakes. She starts to consider changing her mind once she sees Cabba going Super Saiyan. After obtaining the Super Saiyan transformation, she told Cabba that she will only enter if Kale also enters.
She Is Not My Girlfriend: Caulifla had to tell Kale in her powered state that she doesn't see anything in Cabba.
Caulifla: Look, Kale. If you're actually feeling jealous, let me stop you right there! You think my standards are so low I'd be attracted to this little dweeb? Come on, you mean the universe to me! Nobody could ever come between the two of us!
Skilled, but Naive: Caulifla possesses tremendous talent and is acknowledged as being a fighting genius that is able to learn and master the various stages of Super Saiyan in a very short amount of time, obtaining both Super Saiyan 1 and Super Saiyan 2 within 48 hours. Just like Cabba, however, it's blatantly obvious that due to her lack of experience when compared to that of Goku and Vegeta, who have been Super Saiyans for at least a decade, she's very slow in realizing the disadvantages of using the different Super Saiyan forms, requiring Goku to literally spell it out for her that the bulky Super Saiyan Third Grade form she tried to use was useless because of its pitiful speed.
Goku: If you can't beat my Afterimage Technique, you'll never obtain Super Saiyan 3.
Smug Snake: Starts crossing into this territory from Smug Super as time passes on. While she's pretty strong, it becomes clear that she's overshadowed by many other fighters in the Tournament of Power. That doesn't stop her from strutting around and challenging people way out of her league.
Smug Super: She is very confident in her abilities, especially when she unlocks her Super Saiyan form. ^note As a result, she doesn't hesitate to snark positively about them or belittle her foes as being "wimps" or "losers". This is very much a common trait among Universe 7 Saiyans.
Sore Loser: When Goku eliminates Kefla and she defuses, Caulifla promises to pound Goku one day.
Spirited Competitor: Her motive for fighting in the Tournament of Power is to find out "who's the strongest in all the universes", and she's very invested in proving that point herself.
Temporary Bulk Change: Caulifla manages to access the Super Saiyan Third Grade 'form' in Episode 100, bulking up her upper body drastically in the vein of Future Trunks' usage of the form, with added Breast Expansion to boot since she's female. Just like Future Trunks, however, it sacrifices speed and stamina for power, which Goku is quick to school her on. She instead switches to Super Saiyan 2 on his recommendation.
Theme Naming: Like all Saiyans, is named after a vegetable, in this case cauliflower.
Tomboy: She follows the street gang leader archetype.
Tsundere: Subverted. Kale mistakes Caulifla as having this relationship with Cabba, triggering her transformation and causing her to try and kill him. Caulifla than explains that she just sees him as a new friend.
Vague Age: She appears to be of the similar age as Cabba, meaning she is possibly a teenager. Yet, her age is still pretty vague, and many lines have Cabba call her "miss Caulifla", which can mean either courtesy or acknowledging her as older.
Underestimating Badassery:
- She doesn't think much of the Universe 11 Pride Troopers, mocking the Universe 7 Saiyans for showing fear when they sense their power. Seeing Jiren take out Kale in one hit partially absolves her of that misconception.
- Ironically, she and Kale were on the receiving end of this by Kahseral's squadron, even after witnessing their abilities to be a tad troublesome. Caulifla and a controlled Kale managed to overpower three of the five members in Kahseral's squadron in a beam struggle, with Androids #17 and #18 taking care of rest with similar ease.
- She, as a byproduct of not being able to sense God Ki, made the mistake of underestimating Super Saiyan God Goku and (along with Kale) just assumed he changed colors. Goku is very quick to teach them that the power of Super Saiyan God is in an entirely different league than Super Saiyan 2 or even 3 as he effortlessly toys with both Kale and Caulifla, with the latter clutching her stomach in much pain after just a single punch to the gut from him.
Unskilled, but Strong: Whis states this is Caulifla's main flaw. She is more a street brawler than an actual martial artist, and in a fight with Goku, she does have trouble with the experience the latter has. That said, she's very quick to adapt.
Use Your Head: She did a flying headbutt to a metal robot from Team Universe 3. Caulifla showed no pain, while Koitsukai felt the contrary.
Worthy Opponent: She really enjoys fighting Goku, so much so that it triggers Kale's Berserk state when she thinks Goku will take her away.
Wrestler in All of Us: She managed to suplex Napapa, a Sumo Wrestler, out of the Tournament Arena when he attempted to physically pressure her into a ring-out.

A Saiyan woman from Universe 6 who is a member of Caulifla's gang, and her protégée. She is shy, but hides a monstrous potential as a Super Saiyan. She joins the Universe 6 team for the Tournament of Power.

Alongside other characters in Super like Goku Black and Jiren, Kale has a different personality between mediums. In the anime, she is a Shrinking Violet who doesn't have any faith in her skills. In the manga, she’s a stoic bodyguard who is purposely hiding her true strength to not shame Caulifla's pride.

Adaptational Badass:
- At the arc's start, Anime Kale is shown as extremely weak both physically and mentally, cowering and crying before danger and being totally impotent (so much that Goku, of all people, tells her to get lost while he's fighting Caulifla). Manga Kale, while still subservient to Caulifla, is shown to be more experienced around the same point, taking quick action to neutralize or reverse a situation, like crushing a soldier's gun to protect her unknowing boss. She is also powerful enough to outpace and pickpocket Super Saiyan Cabba, without his realization. In the tournament she easily knocks out Dercori from Universe 4 while in her base form, while in the anime, her base form was very weak and was in the receiving end of getting tortured by two Universe 10 fighters; Frieza outright says that she's stronger than Cabba or Caulifla even before she transforms in the manga, even though she's in base and they're Super Saiyans.
- Her Super Saiyan form is this in the manga. Upon accessing it the first time, she was able to ragdoll True Golden Frieza (though he claims to not have been taking her seriously) and was somewhat able to hold her own against Mastered Super Saiyan Blue Goku. This would actually put her on the same level as Top with God ki and Fused Zamasu, whereas in the anime she's only able to hold her own against an exhausted Super Saiyan God Goku (being able to deflect his attack, while Caulifla was forced to try and dodge). And then she starts to bulk up, showing that her Berserk transformation gradually gets stronger the longer she fights. Then again, in the manga, her forms' instability are not an Informed Attribute like in the anime; she can barely use that power for more than a minute or so due to Power Incontinence and quickly hits her peak and drops rapidly as her transformation destroys her own body. Fusing into Kefla remedies this, as Vados says Kefla has Kale's great power and she doesn't have any such issues, though unlike in the anime, manga Kefla doesn't seem to be any stronger than Kale alone.
- In the anime, while everyone (even including Brianne and her group, who hadn't transformed at that point) except for one unfortunate Universe 10 fighter were able to dodge all of Kale's stray blasts (and later knocking Vuon out), in the manga, fighters get eliminated left and right by Kale in her Berserker Form, including Magetta, the Universe 6 Namekians, and the remnants of Universes 4, 3 (yes, even FREAKING AGNILASA, who in the anime, was a Climax Boss before the final showdown between Universes 7 and 11), 2, and 10 (in that order). She managed to almost take out Vegeta and Top during their fight too, with Top only surviving because of Dyspo. Cabba did indeed bring a force to be reckoned with in the Tournament of Power, and that's not even before Kefla.
Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Her dynamic with Caulifla in the manga. In the anime, the two are the best of friends and clearly care for one another, their relationship being a student/teacher dynamic with Kale having an implied crush on Caulifla. In the manga, while Caulifla still has a bit of respect for Kale, their relationship isn't as close as it is in the anime, with Caulifla treating her more like a subordinate while Kale sees Caulifla more as a sister figure rather than the implied crush in the anime. It can best be seen in how Kale was recruited into the tournament. In the anime, Caulifla made Kale's involvement a stipulation for her agreeing to fight, while in the manga she is somewhat surprised, even annoyed, that Cabba brought her along.
Adaptation Personality Change: In the anime, she is a shy and insecure young girl who feels she couldn't measure to the skills of her sister figure. In the manga, she is a stoic bodyguard to Caulifla who knows she is the stronger of the two, but doesn't tell Caulifla in order to not harm her pride.
Almighty Janitor: She's a subordinate of Caulifla. That said, as opposed to everyone thinking Caulifla's the strongest Saiyan woman of Universe 6, she may prove to be even stronger thanks to her berserk Super Saiyan form.
Cabba: I came here for one strong ally, but it seems I accidentally stumbled upon another.
Alternate Identity Amnesia: Kale doesn't seem to remember her Berserk form's chaos whenever she reawakens from her exhaustion. However, she manages to overcome this trait once she mastered her Super Saiyan transformations during the Tournament Of Power.
Amazonian Beauty: Her Super Saiyan 2 and Berserker◊ forms emphasize her large, muscular, yet feminine frame.
Ambiguously Brown: Described as a "dark-skinned beauty"^note, Kale is noticeably tanned compared to the likes of Caulifla and Cabba and other Saiyans. Like Broly and Paragus, brown skin gives a mysterious, foreign look. However, like Broly, her skin gains a slightly lighter shade of melanin when she transforms into her Berserker form.
Ambiguously Gay: Or rather "Ambigiously Lesbian". She gives off some strong lesbian vibes for Caulifla, like blushing when complemented by her, being jealous of Cabba's interactions with Caulifla, and when she goes into a berserker rage it's only when Caulifla says she isn't interested in Cabba and how wonderful Kale is that she calms down. It's less ambiguous in the dub, where Kale refers to Caulifla as her "one and only". This is also less ambiguous in Legends, Kale refers to Caulifla as a "knight in shining armor".
Ambiguous Situation: Not particularly in regard to Kale herself, but rather her connection to Broly and if their respective berserker transformations are the same or not. Unique to Kale, she has a regular Super Saiyan form that makes her more muscular than normal that she can control in the anime, plus she manages to control her Berserk state, achieving a unique green Super Saiyan 2 form in the process. In contrast, Broly has a unique Wrath state representative of his great ape form. His basic Super Saiyan state is berserk too, unlike Kale in the anime, but matching her usage of the form in the manga. Though Kale's form shares Broly's background in Z as a Legendary Saiyan that appears once every 1000 years in the manga, neither Kale nor the backstory is mentioned or tied to Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
- Videogames however do make note of the connection, with Kale in FighterZ describing the Broly from Dragon Ball Z as a Berserker like her, and expressing fear over turning into either version of Broly if they win. Xenoverse 2 makes it slightly less ambiguous, with Caulifla pointing out how Broly from DBS resembles Kale, and Kale stating that DBS Broly is a Saiyan just like her in their introductory matchup, suggesting their Berserk/Full Power/Legendary states all share the same origin in addition to their appearance.
Angst Nuke: Her Berserk transformation and technique, Gigantic Shout, releases a giant radius of explosive energy upon its completion.
Awesome, but Impractical:
- Initially, her Berserk transformation sacrificed sanity for raw power, causing her to be completely indiscriminate in her rampage whenever she wasn't focused on a single target. In a survival tournament, this becomes a liability when she nearly out rings Caulifla and blasts her other teammates, Botamo and Magetta. Furthermore, because the transformation was triggered by nothing less than extreme emotional distress (particularly jealousy), Kale couldn't access it at will, and apparently didn't have time to learn the regular Super Saiyan transformation to cover for this. In the manga, she becomes a liability by accidentally knocking out Magetta and the Universe 6 Namekians, but at the same time, she becomes a risk to everyone else just as much.
- Furthermore, in the manga, she can only maintain the full output of the form for a few minutes, such is its strain. After hitting the peak her power rapidly starts dropping, and it's stated that the stress of the transformation would outright kill her if she was left alone.
- Downplayed in the anime when she later gains access to a more controlled version of the form, which she can enter/exit from it at will, yet it still takes a number on her energy, forcing her unconscious afterward. Her anime-exclusive Super Saiyan 2 form, a mastered version of her Berserker form, finally negates the power strain and exhaustion, allowing her complete control of her massive power while maintaining her sanity.
Ax-Crazy:
- The transformation into her berserker state sweeps her into a homicidal rage that can make her lash out at friend or foe.
- It gets worse when it's with Goku. She goes into a one-sighted homicidal rage and she outright wants to murder Goku. Jiren's the only one who stops Kale.
Badass Adorable: Her restrained Super Saiyan form marks her transition into becoming a more competent fighter with her Olympic athlete design and potent powers. Even Kale's base form, for how girlishly meek it normally is, puts up a small effort to combat Mechiōpu. Both forms beam with confidence once they feel they're doing something right.
Badass Boast: Managed to deliver one against Goku while teaming up with Caulifla:
Caulifla: So he's starting with red?^noteSuper Saiyan God.
Kale: Red or blue, it's all the same! Let's beat him up!
Caulifla: Well said!
Beam Spam: During her fight with Goku, she unleashes an omnidirectional barrage of ki blasts that threatens everyone on the arena and even eliminates one of them.
Berserk Button: Kale's a pretty sensitive girl who hates anyone coming between her and her mentor Caulifla.
Beware the Nice Ones: She's relatively nice compared to Caulifla on the on-set, despite her earlier dips into jealousy. She's not prone to picking fights vocally or physically and respects order. However, if one decided to harm Caulifla, they'll face a much more monstrous side of her.
Beware the Quiet Ones: Kale has been depicted as being mostly a meek introvert with a tendency to stoically observe others. However, she also has the ability to take on a Berserk, or in the manga "Legendary Saiyan" state, displaying herself as a very homicidal force of nature that in the anime she frightens and nearly kills Cabba, gives Goku a hard time, and wrecks a good portion of the Tournament Of Power arena, while in the manga she takes out most of the competition by herself, including Agnilasa, while also fending off Goku and Frieza in their strongest forms, and nearly knocking out Vegeta and Top.
The Big Gal: Among the three Saiyans within the Tournament of Power's Universe 6 team, Kale's Berserker form is easily the most powerful fighter. Disregarding the Saiyan delinquents fusion, Kefla, anyway.
Black Cloak: In the manga, she normally dons a hoodied cloak along with other members of Caulifla's gang.
Canon Immigrant: Not herself, but the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation she uses was previously exclusive to Broly from the non-serial movies. It's only labeled her Berserk state in supplementary material, but in the manga she's officially labeled the Legendary Saiyan of Universe 6, her backstory finally mirroring Broly's.
Catchphrase: Tend to discredit herself with "I'm just...", much to Caulifla's annoyance.
Caulifla: There it is! Kale's "I'm just..."! Don't worry! You can do it, Kale! You're a Saiyan too!
Character Development: Prior to the tournament, she was a worry wart, jealous Saiyan who lacked emotional control and the appetite to fight. Her trigger made her more of a destructive liability to her own team. However:
- She grows to accept or respect allies outside of Caulifla. Notably, her antagonistic relationship against Cabba softened over time, to the point where she obeyed his decision to pull Caulifla away from a potential fight against Monna, and even referred to him as "Cabba-san" (in the original Japanese version).
- She becomes less blindly subservient to Caulifla. While there is no doubt that she still deeply cares and respects her mentor, she became less afraid of calling out some of Caulifla's questionable actions, like her overconfidence, in a respectable manner. Caulifla seems to be encouraging this, as in Episode 114 she outright tells Kale that she shouldn't just follow her, but stand alongside her.
Characterization Marches On: Kale's Superpowered Evil Side, during her first appearance, did a psychotic smile and proclaimed her murderous intent with Cabba, similar to her inspiration Broly. However, this clashes with Kale's Berserker mode personality from later episodes, where is instead treated as a form of pure rage, similar to the classic Hulk
Clingy Jealous Girl: Episode 93 reveals that Kale doesn't like Cabba because she feels like he's stealing Caulifla away from her. This causes Kale to try and kill Cabba after she transforms into her berserker Super Saiyan form. She felt the same way towards Goku in Episode 100, and her rage is so bad, that she refuses to listen to anybody until Goku is out of the picture.
Cower Power: Kale tends to hide behind and hold onto Caulifla out of paranoia.
Deadpan Snarker: She managed to throw some light shade at Caulifla, of all people, over her overconfidence while Universe 6 undergoes their Darkest Hour.
Caulifla: Of course, I'm scared...of my own infinite potential!
Kale: You're super positive, aren't you?
Depending on the Artist:
- The design of her eyes depends on who is the artist at the time during the episodes. Sometimes, the eyes will look bigger, to emphasize her cute elements, but other times, they will look smaller, and make her look sort of Ugly Cute.
- Is Kale as tall as Cabba and Caulifla in her base form, or slightly taller? Depends on the artist.
- In the manga, unlike in the anime, her initial Super Saiyan form and Berserker/Full Power states look slimmer and much more feminine, as opposed to the rather obvious Broly inspired design.
Distaff Counterpart:
- Looks-wise serves as a gender-flipped, alternate universe version of pre-canon Broly. Personality-wise, she resembles Gohan a lot more. Kale is insanely talented and stronger than Cabba and Caulilfa, but she simply lacks the appetite for fighting that they have.
- Like Gohan in Dragon Ball Z, she does not seem to have the instincts of a warrior and has confidence issues, but she has monstrous potential. She goes from adorable to brutal in seconds, similar to when Gohan first went from a crybaby to brutally wounding Raditz when Goku and Piccolo were getting stomped.
Divergent Character Evolution: At first glance, Kale appears to be a carbon copy of the original Broly in the body of a girl. However, the personality of her Berserker mode is not of a Ax-Crazy psychopath that enjoys destruction like her inspiration, but is treated more like a Hulk-like Superpowered Evil Side blinded by pure rage. And even then, Kale's Character Development kicks in, making her more of a stable character than the original Broly ever was.
The Dreaded: Her Berserker form has been described to be terrifying in promotional material. Vegeta, when seeing it for the first time, call it "a sinister form" and told Goku to be careful about her. Kale's awakening as the "Legendary Saiyan" of Universe 6 brings the tournament to its final act in the manga, as Kale on her own manages to eliminate every remaining universe bar Universe 7 and Universe 11, including most of the remaining members of her own team..
Vegeta: Be careful Kakarot! That might be the Saiyans true form! ^{Translation note}
Early-Bird Cameo:
- Appears quite a bit in the Genkai Toppa×Survivor opening with the Pride Troopers (though that appearance may actually have been an even Earlier Bird Cameo for Kefla) and transforming along with Cabba and Frost, and the promotional commercial showing her base form Hulking Out before her proper appearance on the show, to the point of Wolverine Publicity.
- Her "controlled" form was shown in a Shonen magazine months before the tournament actually started, showing her alongside Jiren and Ribrianne.
Edible Theme Naming: Like all Saiyans, her name is taken from a vegetable, kale, which so happens to be a relative of broccoli, from which Broly's name is derived.
Emerald Power: Her Berserker form features green hair and a Ki aura that glows a sickly green color. In addition, her energy attacks and exhaled steam feature the same coloring.
Enemy Mine: She and Caulifla team up with Goku from Universe 7 to take on a bunch of Pride Troopers after Jiren and Toppo send them against Goku.
Face of a Thug: Kale's Kubrick Stare, appropriately, has a stoic, delinquent facade that tends to fade quickly once she becomes weak-willed and emotional. However, once she becomes a Berserker, the face is very accurate to that form's persona.
From Nobody to Nightmare: While Caulifla considers Kale to be special enough to be her personal protegee, most people barely acknowledge the seemingly weak gang lapdog unless Caulifla's around. Enter the Tournament of Power, where after getting tortured and ignored by her enthralled boss, Kale finally cracked into her Berserker state and made a fearfully destructive presence that literally reshaped the arena. This is enough to attract even the Pride Troopers, causing Jiren to quickly forced her out of her rampage, while Kahseral's squad specifically called her out as a motive for payback against Goku, Caulifla, and Kale. In the manga, Kale goes from someone whose power Caulifla couldn't recognize to the fighter with the most eliminations, who managed to fend off both Goku and Frieza, along with nearly knock out Vegeta and Top.
Good Counterpart: Though she is a member of Caulifla's gang, if what Cabba says is true about Universe 6 Saiyans, she may be this to the Non-Serial Movie villain Broly.
- Initially when she first unlocks her Berserk form, she violently attacks Cabba only, forcing Caulifla to intervene. In the midst of the Tournament of Power, her Berserk form's savagely violent persona becomes even more like Broly, targeting Goku and becoming a dreaded menace to every fighting participant in the arena.
- However, after helplessly watching an injured Caulifla stall an impending attack, Kale manages to temporarily gain control of her potent forms and assist her mentor effectively in combat. Even when she willingly accesses her Berserk form, she's less of a Wild Card liability.
- Then in the manga it's played straight again, as once Kale transforms she's effectively a mindless berserker, her backstory mirroring Broly's even more closely as her power is revealed to be a result of her being the "Legendary Saiyan" of Universe 6, but in her mindless rage state she knocks out most of her teammates.
Girly Bruiser: Her base form rocks the crop top, mini-skirt, lipstick, and earring attire with her occasional boxing style and petite frame. When she accesses her Super Saiyan forms, she upgrades into an Amazonian Beauty.
Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Her soft-spoken voice and personality, along with her traditional feminine attire, contrasts with her mentor's tomboy equivalent. That said, once she gains a confidence boost, on top of accessing her Super Saiyan forms, Kale becomes eager to fight fast and ferociously.
Graceful Loser: After failing to defeat Ultra Instinct Goku as Kefla, and accidentally destroying Fuwa's Potara Earrings in the process, Kale directly apologizes to Champa and Fuwa with a bowing, calm demeanor. Her mentor Caulifla, on the other hand, doesn't take the loss as lightly.
Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Her regular form features one overlapping her left eye, a quick clue into her meek demeanor. She still retains the hair bang in her Berserk state, but with a stark personality contrast towards a typical Universe 7 Saiyan's behavior.
Hulking Out: How her transformation into Super Saiyan is portrayed, with all of her muscles expanding and a drastic height and size increase.
If I Can't Have You…: In episode 100, after transforming, Kale tries to attack Caulifla because she thought that Goku was taking her away from Kale. She is only stopped because Jiren intervenes. It's not clear if she was going to kill or just injure her. This was a result of her losing control of her power and emotions in her transformed state, as she is normally very fond of Caulifla, and would not attack her in any other circumstance. It's not quite clear if this was the romantic version of the trope, despite Kale's implied sexuality.
Internalized Categorism: Kale's self-esteem is so low, she considers herself as "a pathetic Saiyan".
The Juggernaut:
- Her Berserker form is so stupidly powerful, she can power through a Super Saiyan Blue Kamehameha with no apparent damage.
- Her manga form is much more powerful, blindly wiping out FOUR universes one after another with no opposition whatsoever (even Agnilasa from Universe 3 got taken out easily by her), while placing a huge dent on Universe 11's numbers, which at the moment, had no fighters knocked out.
Kick the Morality Pet: Prior to the Tournament of Power, Caulifla was the only person that could calm her down when she went into her Berserk form and never directly harmed her, however when she thinks Goku stole Caulifla from her she loses complete control of herself and attacks Caulifla twice. The first time she charges at her and Goku with only Hit's Time-Skip saving Caulifla from falling out of the ring, the second time she lunges at Caulifla from behind before being one-shotted by Jiren before she could hit her.
Kubrick Stare: For a normally meek and emotional girl, she tends to stare down and observe others (that aren't Caulifla) with this look, as evident in her profile image. The expression can evolve into a Death Glare or Disapproving Look.
The Lancer: She is Caulifla's second-in-command in a gang of Saiyan punks (Saiyan Cultists in the manga) and is always by her side.
Letting Her Hair Down: She tends to sport long hair after powering down from her Super Saiyan forms, seeing as their wild hairstyles destroy Kale's hair bands every time.
Lightning Bruiser: Berserk Kale may be bigger and stronger than most Universe 6 Saiyans, but it doesn't hinder her flight speed when successfully chasing down the smaller Cabba, or keeping up with all of Goku's forms, in their battle.
Lipstick Lesbian: She's more Ambiguously Gay at this point, but her interactions with Caulifla suggest a massive crush, and she became a Super Saiyan because she thought Cabba was going to take Caulifla away from her. She becomes more butch as a Super Saiyan though, getting the musculature that rivals male bodybuilders.
Luminescent Blush: Due to being really emotional, Kale tends to do this whenever she's feeling really strongly about anything.
Magic Pants: Much like Broly, her clothing expands after transforming. It's more noticeable with her because she is much smaller before transforming and wears a shirt.
Make Me Wanna Shout:
- Her Berserker form turns her into a feral beast, making her unleash from her lungs a powerful scream, capable of destroying part of the arena of the Tournament of Power, made from the strongest metal in the multiverse.
- Her Gigantic Shout technique, from Dragon Ball Heroes, combines this with a massive expulsion of destructive energy within her radius.
Meaningful Name: Kale is a relative of broccoli, and is considered a superfood. Rather appropriate for Broly's Distaff Counterpart.
Metronomic Man Mashing: Berserker Kale delivered one to Super Saiyan 2 Goku during her assault, ragdolling him multiple times before Goku stalled her with an ineffective kick.
Mysterious Past: Unlike Cabba and Caulifla who have some background, Kale's origins are a mystery, and only Caulifla appears to know where she comes from. The manga, however, does state she and the other gang members were rescued by Caulifla and given a home, but still leave her origins quite unknown.
Morality Pet: So far Kale seems to be the only person Caulifla treats with kindness and respect. She clearly struggles with even saying bad stuff to Kale and constantly tries to get Kale to believe in herself. This, however, gets downplayed as her Berserker form is too unstable, with even Kale attacking Caulifla during their fight with Goku.
Murder the Hypotenuse: It's heavily implied her feelings for Caulifla go beyond a teacher-protegee relationship. When she finds Caulifla getting a little too close to Cabba for her liking, the jealousy is part of what triggers her transformation into her berserker form, at which point she is so overwhelmed by Unstoppable Rage that she tries to kill him. Likewise, she tries to kill Goku for doing the same.
Kale: You've taken my one and only away from me. You going to regret that Goku! I'll make you pay!
Muscles Are Meaningful: Kale's Berserk state is bulkier than Caulifla and Cabba, but is considered more powerful than Super Saiyan Cabba (who is usually the poster boy of the opposite along with Caulifla).
Mythology Gag: She is a walking Broly reference, mostly in her Berserker state.
- Her first line to Cabba is "キャベ ! まずはお前から血祭りにあげてやる" ("Cabba! Mazu ha omae kara chimatsuri ni ageteyaru!''") ("Cabba! The first of my victims will be you!") much like Broly's first line as a Legendary Super Saiyan to Goku. She also says "Energy rising... overflowing", much like her inspiration.
- She gains a sudden hatred of Goku and starts to repeat ad nauseam his name but instead of Kakarot, it's Son Goku, because she (unlike Broly) doesn't know Kakarot is Goku's actual Saiyan name.
- She No Sells Goku's Kamehameha Wave complete with a Facepalm Of Doom in her Berserker state, much like her inspiration. What makes it impressive is that Goku was in his Super Saiyan Blue state.
- In the manga it's made explicit that she's also a Legendary Saiyan, a demonic Saiyan that appears only once every 1000 years, and doomed to destroy herself and everything around her. This not only parallels Broly's backstory, but also mixes it with the legend of the Super Saiyan that was destroyed by his own power.
- Her attire is a hybrid of Z Broly's and GT Bulla's: The crop top and miniskirt are akin to Bulla's outfit, while her armbands and boots match Broly's.
Non-Standard Character Design: Like the other Universe 6 Saiyans, Kale is very slim and not muscular while untransformed. However, she also has this towards the Universe 6 Saiyans, being the only full-blooded Saiyan in the franchise without wholly black irises, instead of having very dark gray irises. She's also the only one to get taller when she transforms into a restrained Super Saiyan.
Overshadowed by Awesome: Kale learns to master her Berserk form, but once Goku goes Super Saiyan God, he wipes the floor with her.
Perpetual Frowner: Kale tends to sport a worried or annoyed frown everywhere she wanders when she's not being stoic. However, when Caulifla is around, or if she finally feels a shred of confidence, she sports a heartwarming smile.
Person of Mass Destruction: When she turns Berserk, her power starts to grow out of control, to the point she had to release energy. That energy was so powerful it was capable of destroying part of the arena, that is made of the strongest metal in the multiverse. She also No Sells Goku's Kamehameha Wave as a power-suppressed Super Saiyan Blue, meaning she is too powerful for her own good. Hit was worried she might kill someone, getting her disqualified. To top it all, her screams are powerful enough to destroy part of the arena.
Top: That much force...from her voice alone?!
Power Makes Your Voice Deep: Compared to the high-pitched, meek sounding voice of her base form, Kale's voice in her Berserk state is huskier and more sensual.
The Power of Hate: A typical trigger to unlock a Saiyan's super form, and Kale's Berserker and Super Saiyan forms are no different. Subverted with how she unlocks Super Saiyan 2, however.
The Power of Love: Her Berserk form is fueled by jealousy of those she thinks may steal Caulifla from her. She gains a controlled Super Saiyan state when Caulifla puts everything on the line to protect her, and Kale is driven to do so in turn. Later, when she goes Berserk again, Caulifla telling Kale how important she is to her, that Kale is the only one who can fight by her side, drives Kale to fully control her full power into unlocking Super Saiyan 2.
Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Minutes after transforming into her Berserk state, the mentally unstable Kale offers a familiar threat^note to Cabba with a smirk before wailing down on him relentlessly.
Prophet Eyes: Displays these in her Berserk form.
The Quiet One: She can hardly raise her voice due to being too shy. Least, when in her normal state.
"The Reason You Suck" Speech: In the Funimation dub, Berserker Kale mindlessly refers to Goku by various negative adjectives, expressing how much bottled-up disdain she projects onto him despite Goku being a complete stranger.
Kale: Goku the destroyer of lives...the ruiner...the arrogant...the parasite...the stubborn...the spineless...the vulnerable!
Red Is Violent: Her crop-top, mini skirt, and boot ankles are colored in red. When she goes berserk, she doesn't hold back when it comes to beating down on her opponents.
Reluctant Warrior: Before gaining some form of control over her latent Super Saiyan powers, Kale didn't feel capable enough to be an effective fighter, often downgrading herself as being a pathetic Saiyan.
Satellite Character: Most of Kale's interactions and motivations revolve around Caulifla, due to being the only person she's willing to work with on friendly terms. Without Caulifla to support her, Kale can slowly break down into a seemingly powerless state. Even when she becomes more confident, she is mostly just working with her sis.
Say My Name:
- In the original Japanese, after transforming into her berserker form due to Goku and Caulifla fighting, she starts to call his name ad nauseum. It's the only thing she says, being blinded by rage.
  Kale: Son Goku... Son Goku... Son Goku. Kill!
- In the Funimation dub, Berserker Kale's dialogue was slightly punched up, but she still repeatedly refers to Goku by name.
Shonen Hair: Her Berserk form's hairstyle is par for the course for her race's Super Modes: exaggerated spiky, bushy yellow hair (with a unique green tint not unlike Broly).
Shrinking Violet: She is a shy girl, having difficulty with words. It's very clear her lack of confidence and self-worth because of this was a big factor in the stress that eventually caused her transformation. This is actually similar to a mentally subdued Broly's personality before turning into a Super Saiyan.
Slipknot Ponytail: Her ponytailed hair with bangs functions this way whenever she transforms into her Berserk form.
Sleep-Mode Size: Her Super Saiyan is a restrained version of her Berserk form, looking more like a moderately taller Olympic female athlete as opposed to the latter's towering weightlifter physique.
Statuesque Stunner: Kale's Berserk form easily towers over most characters, like Cabba and Caulifla.^note, and Goku^note While Caulifla was impressed by Kale's transformation, Cabba was more focused on staying alive against her new form. When she finally fully masters her power in Episode 114, her bulked-up Berserk form metamorphoses into a near-identical appearance of her controlled form, only slightly taller and muscular, and her hair the same green as her Berserk state, as opposed to the green-tinged gold colour her Super Saiyan state had.
The Stoic: In the manga, she shows little emotion and hides her true power in order to not ruin Caulifla’s pride.
Superior Successor: If she were to get control over her immense strength, she may surpass Caulifla. In episode 100, it's made clear that she's already way more powerful than Caulifla in her transformed state, as Caulifla was evenly matched with Super Saiyan 2 Goku, while Kale smacked around suppressed Super Saiyan Blue Goku. Her only real problem is her lack of long-term control of the form. As of Episode 114, she manages to accomplish mastering her Berserk state, something that not even Broly could, or had the inclination, to do, but then gets beaten by Goku.
Super Mode: An odd one for the series, but she can transform from a meek-looking girl into a Broly-like beast! After she fully masters the Berserk form and irons out its anger issues she unlocks Super Saiyan 2, becoming less beastly and resembling a taller, more powerful green haired version of her Super Saiyan State.
Superpowered Evil Side: In the anime, in her normal form Kale is a weakling who can barely fight. Her Berserk form is just as violent and powerful as Broly's Legendary Super Saiyan form. Cabba could barely survive and Caulifla had to bail him out. She finally gets a grip on the form in episode 101, and as of episode 114, she manages to water out the negative effects on her body and mind and master the state, transforming it into a bona fide Super Mode. In the manga, this is even more prominent as when Kale awakens as the Legendary Saiyan of her universe, she ends up knocking out most of her comrades, ultimately leaving only her, Cabba, and Kale to defend Universe 6.
Super-Strength: In the manga, her Legendary Super Saiyan form is strong enough to lift Magetta and carry him in one arm, the same Magetta that not even SSJ Blue Vegeta can lift.
Suspiciously Similar Substitute:
- In SPADES A timid, quiet girl who hits a breaking point upon seeing something enraging and becomes an unstoppable monster is exactly like Broly. Specifically, the original version of Broly. Kale, upon transforming for the first time against Cabba, and then against Goku, served as a rather blatant copy of Z's Broly, performing the same moves, saying lines that the insane Saiyan said, and even having a transformation that was exactly like his. However, this is gradually subverted, Kale shows her own very distinct personality in both the anime and manga.
- As a non-threatening dark-haired girl who can change into a light-haired Blood Knight, she's the Saiyan equivalent to Lunch.
Tame Her Anger: Her Super Saiyan form is powerful but utterly uncontrollable due to the crazed fury it instills in her, so this is part of her learning to control it. She starts to gain a measure of control in episode 101. As of Episode 114 she’s mastered her berserker state and can now use its full capabilities without lapsing into an Unstoppable Rage.
Teach Her Anger: When she can't transform through a technical explanation like Caulifla, Caulifla decides to do it through anger by insulting her. That doesn't work, but her jealousy at Caulifla's perceived closeness to Cabba (and later Goku) does the trick.
Temporary Bulk Change: Once she gains control of her Super Saiyan form, she's able to deliberately bulk up to her Legendary form without losing control.
Theme Naming: Like all Saiyans, Kale is named after a vegetable.
Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's a demure, quiet girly girl to Caulifla (the gang leader who, until recently, was considered the Worlds Greatest Warrior as far as female, Universe 6 Saiyans go), and to herself (when she's going Berserk, she's a female Broly in every sense, even having similarly incredible musculature).
Took a Level in Cheerfulness: After she gains access to a more controllable Super Saiyan form, and unlocking her version of Super Saiyan 2, she becomes much more cheerful and confident in herself.
Torpedo Tits: Kale's Berserk state is able to charge an explosive ball of Ki in-between her breasts. She uses this a counterattack against Cabba and Super Saiyan 2 Goku.
Underestimating Badassery:
- Kale, even after displaying her monstrous strength as a Super Saiyan, was still marked as easy prey with Caulifla by Kahersal. She proved them wrong, big time, by ringing them out with Caulifla.
- Like Caulifla, Kale cannot sense God Ki, therefore she was unaware of what she was getting into when Goku when Super Saiyan God and even said that whether it was Blue or Red, it wouldn't matter as they were all the same. As she quickly finds out, they aren't the same as Goku goes from being on the ropes against Kale and Caulifla to toying around with them even whilst he's still recovering.
Undying Loyalty: To Caulifla. Kale has always been by her side since the day Caulifla rescued her when she was lost by a roadside and is eternally grateful.
Unstoppable Rage: She goes from meek and frightened girl to a crazed giant, trying to kill Cabba and Goku over her rage blowing jealousy of a perceived closeness with Caulifla out of proportion. However, even as her speech begins to deteriorate, she never deliberately attacks Caulifla in this state. To Kale's credit, she still did better than Caulifla and was able to deflect Goku's ki attack.
Unskilled, but Strong: When she goes Berserk, her fighting skills are sub-par as she shows during her fight with Goku. Goku can't really hurt her, but the reverse is also true and Goku is more bemused at her invulnerability than worried. Though she does force him back to his base form. This also comes into play in the manga, where the coordinated teamwork of Universe 11 nearly manages to ring her out, thanks to her movements being so easy to read.
Vague Age: Much like Caulifla and Cabba, it's unknown how old Kale really is, though she seems to be around Caulifla's age, who Cabba seems to call "miss" either out of courtesy or because she really is older than him.
Visual Pun: Once she enters her Berserk mode due to jealousy, she is literally green with envy.
With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: She goes from a shy, timid girl to a raging violent monster after turning into her Berserk form.
Wolverine Publicity: She has received quite a lot of focus in both the new opening and promotional material, which isn't shocking considering Toei Animation knows about Broly's popularity. Add the fact she is also the first revealed female Super Saiyan in canon, and you get people's attention.
The Worf Effect: Gets defeated by Jiren in the Tournament of Power very easily after easily overpowering a suppressed Super Saiyan Blue Goku, taking out a few members of the arena. However, Jiren doesn't eliminate her, merely knocking her out of her Berserk state.
World's Strongest Woman: In her transformed state, Kale is far more powerful than Caulifla. As they are the only two females representing Universe 6, Kale must be the most powerful female mortal in Universe 6 while in her transformed state.
Wrestler in All of Us: Kale's Berserk state, in her initial tournament rampage, dragged Super Saiyan 2 Goku through a series of rocks by performing a lariat on him.
Yandere: You can tell she's this when part of what triggers her Super Saiyan transformation is her jealousy upon seeing Cabba getting close to her beloved "Ane-Sama", Caulifla. Upon transforming, her first impulse is to, of course, try to kill Cabba. The same happens to Goku when Caulifla seems a little too eager to keep fighting him. She seems to better control her clingy nature by the time she gains confidence in herself.
You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Caulifla is constantly trying to convince the shy and demure Kale that she is strong, but Kale doesn't think it's true (much to Caulifla's annoyance). The self-deprecating pressure Kale always has (exemplified by her quick breakdown for, initially, failing to acquire the Super Saiyan transformation) is part of why she transforms.
Your Size May Vary: Kale's Berserk state towers over most participants in the Tournament of Power, but by how much is rather inconsistent. Caulifla, as a comparison, can either be as high as Berserker Kale's waist in one scene, but suddenly have her hair tips reaching Kale's shoulders.

A red boar who's a fighter for Universe 6.

Butt-Monkey: In episode 106, he gets knocked out by Hamira and Prum before he can fight Gohan and Piccolo. He later recovers and goes after Prum to get his revenge, only for them both to be ringed out by Vegeta. He doesn't even get a chance to show his power, and never gets to reveal his special ability.
Casting Gag: In Latin America, his voice actor Francisco Colmenero previously voiced Pumbaa, a red boar, in The Lion King (1994).
Catchphrase: "Let me show you why I, Dr. Rota, am called Doctor. My ability is-"
Explaining Your Power to the Enemy: He repeatedly tries to boast about his special ability, but gets interrupted each time.
Genius Bruiser: A doctor who is also one of the 10 most powerful beings in his universe (or at least one of the 10 most powerful beings that could be found in his universe within the 48 hours before the tournament). He never gets to show his power though, thanks to Prum, Hamira, and Vegeta. Episode 106 implies that he might not really be an actual doctor though, as he states that his (unrevealed) technique is supposed to show people why they call him Doctor Rota.
Idiot Ball: He stands right out in the open boasting of his special ability to Piccolo and Gohan. Prum and Harmira shoot him mid-speech. When he wakes up, he tracks down Prum looking for revenge and makes the same speech, while Prum was in the middle of a fight with Vegeta and Goku. Vegeta shoots him mid-speech, again, this time knocking him out of the ring. Doctor he may be, but Einstein he ain't.
Joke Character: His only purpose in the series is to pretty much be Universe 6's jabroni.
Mad Scientist: Given his spectacles, and the fact that he's called Doctor Rota, but is apparently not a normal doctor, if he's even a real doctor at all, this is likely.
Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: His ill-advised attempt to get revenge on Prum for attacking him not only got him eliminated by Vegeta, but also allowed Vegeta to eliminate Prum in the same shot by using Rota as a meat shield to avoid Prum's Energy Absorption.
Not That Kind of Doctor: It's implied that he's not a normal doctor, or even a real doctor at all, and that it's just a title, as he says that his special technique is supposed to show why people call him Doctor Rota.
Overshadowed by Awesome: He's at least powerful enough to be a part of the Universe 6 team, and was able to grapple with Prum, showing that he does indeed have some fighting prowess. He's an insect compared to Vegeta though, who rings him out with a Galick Gun in base form.
Pig Man: Looks like a red pig boar with a black mohawk.
Specs of Awesome: Wears a pair of glasses and is fighting for the Tournament of Power, so Champa (or whoever recruited him) is really confident in his abilities.
Talking Is a Free Action: Subverted. His current opponent allows him to speak, only for the ones he's not paying attention to blast him mid-speech.
The Unreveal: He states that he has a special technique, but he gets taken out before we learn what it is. He says that it's supposed to show why people call him Doctor Rota. The manga does nothing to him at all, just simply knocking him out off-screen. They do, however, state that he has some sort of magic when Champa questions him on his off-screen defeat.
We Hardly Knew Ye: Taken out before he has any chance to fight in the anime. We never got to find out why people call him Doctor Rota. In the manga, he does absolutely nothing. We don't even know how he got eliminated. He just appears at the Universe 6 bench after Frost eliminates Krillin.

Universe 6 Saiyans

General

Saiyans (サイヤ人, Saiya-jin)

The Universe 6 Saiyans are mirror counterparts to the Universe 7 Saiyans. Unlike their U7 counterparts who were remorseless Space Pirates who caused mass genocide, the U6 Saiyans are protectors of peace across the universe. They also identify themselves as a warrior race, just like the U7 Saiyans, except they see it as their duty to use their power to help people, not terrorize them.

Little is known about the U6 Saiyans except that they didn't destroy their home planet, unlike the Universe 7 Saiyans. They also evolved differently, namely they don't have tails and appear to be overall stronger than their U7 counterparts. They are more comparable to the hybrid Saiyans of U7 than the pure-blooded Saiyans.

Alternate Self: The Universe 6 counterpart of the Saiyans. Rather than being Space Pirates like the U7 Saiyans were, most of them are instead a Space Police.
Animal Motifs: Monkeys, although Downplayed since they're not born with tails. Calling them "chimpanzee" and "gorilla" is still highly offensive.
Blood Knight: Despite being Good Counterparts to the Universe 7 Saiyans, they fully identify themselves as a warrior race.
Challenge Seeker: Downplayed. Unlike the Universe 7 Saiyans they are more likely to fight more powerful opponents to protect their friends and loved ones, but they still prefer opponents who are merely strong enough to give them a workout and don't like those they know can beat them. At least they are not quite as sore losers.
Cessation of Existence: The Universe 6 Saiyans go along with the erasure of their universe. It's undone after 17 restores the Universes.
Fantastic Slurs: Just like in Universe 7, calling a Saiyan a 'monkey' or some form of primate is a major insult. Caulifla uses them in an attempt to get Kale to transform into a Super Saiyan.
Golden Super Mode: They actually never discovered the Super Saiyan transformation, despite being stronger than their counterparts, maybe due to their pacifist nature. Thanks to Vegeta, Cabba was the first Super Saiyan in the history of Universe 6, and he taught this form to many others, giving the Saiyans a proud tradition for years to come.
Good Counterpart: They are this to the Universe 7 Saiyans. While the U7 Saiyans were coldblooded mass-murderers who happily committed genocide, the U6 Saiyans devote using their power to protect people. Even Saiyans like Caulifla who are more selfish and morally questionable are nowhere near as bad as the U7 Saiyans at their worst.
Human Aliens: The Saiyans lost their tails centuries ago and their development makes them more similar to Universe 7 hybrid Saiyans than the Space Pirates that were the pure-blooded U7 Saiyans.
Japanese Delinquents: In the anime, Caulifla runs an underground gang inspired by the yankii.
Karmic Jackpot: What they are to the Universe 7 Saiyans. The Saiyans in U7 were remorseless Space Pirates who not only destroyed their own planet and stole another world, but they also helped Frieza wipe out countless civilizations to satisfy their own bloodlust. In the end, they are all but destroyed by Frieza's own hand. The U6 Saiyans, on the other hand, kept their homeworld and fight to protect the universe. For this, they are respected and revered across the universe and are thriving as a species. Furthermore, since they weren't abruptly snuffed out, their entire race has had decades to improve, so U6 Saiyans on average are more powerful than the U7 Saiyans were before their destruction.
Little Bit Beastly: Noticeably subverted. Goku and Vegeta are shocked that Cabba doesn't have a tail and Cabba doesn't know what they're talking about when they asked about it. The Saiyans from Universe 6 have evolved past the need for them.
Long-Lived: If they're similar to their U7 counterparts, they are still considered young up to their 80s and age more slowly than humans.
Noodle People: In contrast to the musclebound Saiyans of Universe 7, and almost all fighters throughout the franchise, U6 Saiyan fighters have much smaller builds, with almost no muscle definition. The stand-out exception is Kale, who goes berserk in her Super Saiyan form and bulks up significantly. Even then, she's still slim otherwise.
Planet of Hats: According to Cabba, the Saiyans in U6 are all peace-loving freedom fighters who fight to protect the innocent since it's their duty as a warrior race. This appears to be mostly true since the only morally questionable Saiyans we have seen are Caulifla and Kale who are part of a gang, yet they can't be that bad since Cabba never tries to arrest them. Renso also speaks highly of his sister.
Power Trio: Cabba, Caulifla and Kale form a Saiyan variant during the Tournament of Power. They even stick together after the tournament.
Proud Warrior Race Guy: Downplayed. Cabba proudly calls the Saiyans a warrior race and looked down on the Universe 7 Saiyans for abusing their great power to terrorize others.
So Last Season: Regarding the Universe 6 Saiyan trio, tapping into the Super Saiyan transformation.
Spell My Name With An S: Their home planet is either called Sadal, Sadla or Sadala, depending on the medium.
Super Mode: Like their U7 counterparts, they have access to the Super Saiyan transformation and its offshoots, which presumably includes the god forms.
Superpower Lottery: They have all the benefits of the Universe 7 Saiyans outside of not having the Great Ape form, since they're born without tails. Despite never having learned of the Super Saiyan transformation until the U7 Saiyans revealed it to them, once transformed they display power nearly equal to Goku and Vegeta, who have trained with those forms for years. Immediately after learning to transform, Cabba was able to put Vegeta on the defense in his rage, even though Vegeta has been training with Whis for almost two years and had an additional three years of training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Unwitting Pawn: They are this to Frost. The Saiyans and Frost's Empire worked together a number of times since they're all freedom fighters who wants to protect the citizens of Universe 6. Cabba then learns that Frost has been using them since he starts the wars that he stops so he can buy and sell the planets he ruins at a high price. Cabba reports this, putting Frost on the wanted list.
We Help the Helpless: They are practically the police of Universe 6 who fight to stop wars and bring in criminals.

King Sadala

The king of the Saiyan race on Universe 6.

Egopolis: The manga implies that, much like Planet Vegeta in Universe 7 was named after King Vegeta, he named Planet Sadala after himself.
The Ghost: Has only been mentioned by Cabba once.
Good Counterpart: Is heavily implied he is one to King Vegeta, as "a strong and proud" man brings to mind Vegeta, but the fact the planet is named after himself brings King Vegeta to mind.
The Good King: Implied, since the Saiyans are a race of heroic mercenaries.
Proud Warrior Race Guy: Cabba states that the king shares Vegeta's Saiyan pride.
Small Role, Big Impact: He has never been seen on screen, but Cabba's promise to introduce Vegeta to Planet Sadala and him one day is half of what drives Vegeta's actions for most of Super.

Caulifla's Gang/Turf

As a well-known delinquent, Caulifla has a band of followers that follow her around. In the anime, they are a band of punks, while in the manga, they are all female bandits.

Black Sheep: They are this to the other Saiyans.
- In the anime, Caulifla and Kale appear to be this since they belong to a gang instead of fighting for justice like the other Saiyans. At the same time, they don't come across as bad people since Cabba never felt the need to arrest them and Renso has nothing but good things to say about his sister.
- In the manga, Caulifla and Kale live in a poor territory of Sadala as Robin-Hood-esque bandits, and Caulifla herself is The Dreaded, with no one on the army being able to beat them until Cabba became a Super Saiyan.
Depending on the Writer: In the anime, they are a band of delinquents, inspired by the Japanese Delinquent stereotype. In the manga, they are an all-female group of bandits.
Pet the Dog: In the manga, they first appear stealing food and water from the Sadala Squad, but then are shown to share it with poor kids from the turf, meaning they aren't that bad.

Renso

A Saiyan from Planet Sadal, and the older brother of Caulifla. He was formerly the captain of Planet Sadal's Defense Squad but had to retire due to a leg injury. He trained Cabba.

Adapted Out: Renso appears to not exist in the manga version. Or at least hasn't been mentioned.
Ambiguously Brown: Compared to the lighter shade of melanin of his younger sister, Renso is quite tanned.
Career-Ending Injury: His leg injury meant the end of his time as the captain of Planet Sadal's Defense Squad.
Edible Theme Naming: Like all Saiyans, his name is taken from a vegetable, spinach in Japanese.
Good Counterpart: To Raditz. Both have siblings that are considered the black sheep of the family and alert their peers to them when they need new recruits, but Renso is brave, well-respected by his fellow Saiyans where Raditz was cowardly and considered an embarrassment to the Saiyan race.
Handicapped Badass: Prominently sports a splinted leg when Cabba requests he participate in the Tournament of Power, requiring a cane to move around.
The Hermit: Since his retirement, he lives in an isolated cabin on a place that appears to be otherwise uninhabited.
Informed Attribute: He claims to have trained Caulifla, but from what we see, she's largely Unskilled, but Strong, meaning either his traning didn't stick, or it's severely lacking.
Irony: For the claims of Universe 6 Saiyans being more advanced than Universe 7's, Renso's Career-Ending Injury shows that either a) that saiyan healing technology isn't as great as universe 6's, or b) universe 6 saiyans simply aren't as durable as those in universe 7.
Nominal Importance: Mainly just exists as a way for Cabba to end up meeting Caulifla and Kale.
Refusal of the Call: He turns down Cabba's offer of a spot on the team, as his injury would be a greater liability than any benefit his years of experience might provide.
Retired Badass: Was formerly the captain of his planet defense forces, and trained Cabba, who went toe-to-toe with a Post-God base Vegeta. That definitely qualifies.

Universe 6 Namekians

General

Namekians (ナメック星人, Namekku-seijin)

Alternate Self: The Universe 6 counterparts of the Namekians. They aren't that explored compared with the Saiyans, and it's unclear how different they are from their counterparts.
Do Not Go Gentle: Compared to their more pacifistic counterparts from Universe 7, the Universe 6 Namekians were willing to sacrifice themselves en masse to give their two chosen champions a chance of survival in the Tournament of Power. Saonel and Pirina boast that they have far greater willpower.
Early-Installment Weirdness: In Xenoverse 2. Since the Namekians were never mentioned in the Universe 6 saga of the anime, none of the Universe 6 fighters seem to recognize the Namekian Time Patrollers in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, implying they didn't exist or something else. Come the Universal Survival Arc, and two of their fighters join Universe 6 for the Tournament of Power, maybe thanks to Piccolo's presence during the Universe 6 tournament.
Frost: Wow! I must say your power intrigues me to no end. I would love to sit and hear about your homeland sometime.
- Fridge Brilliance kicks in when taking into account that Universe 6 worlds are somewhat inverted from their Universe 7 counterparts; the U6 Saiyans being heroic mercenaries as opposed to battle hungry space pirates, U6 Earth having destroyed itself, Frost being far more subtle than Freeza, etc. The Universe 6 Namekians could very well have just been keeping a low profile, as opposed to the Universe 7 Namekians who were famed as a space faring race before the cataclysm. Combined with the fact that even the Gods have overlooked the existence of some races, evidenced by Elder Kai not knowing about the Metalmen, it wouldn't be surprising that the Universe 6 inhabitants simply didn't know of U6!Namek.
Fusion Dance: Like their counterparts, the warrior-type Namekian can fuse with another to create a more powerful one. Pilina and Saonel took it further, by fusing with all of the warrior Namekians for the Tournament of Power.
Last Stand: In the anime only. Saonel and Pilina end up as the final remaining fighters for Universe 6 in the Tournament of Power after Kale and Caulifla are ringed out by Goku. Just like Universe 10's remaining fighters, it's also a showdown between Gohan and Piccolo. In the manga, they end up getting taken out by Berserker Kale.
