A character sheet for the fanfic series The Other Side.
Trolls
Pop Trolls
Snack Pack
The current Queen of Pop Village and the main protagonist of the series. She is also the successor of ruler of the Pop Trolls from her mother Queen Peony. For the tropes present for Poppy in the films, click here.
- The Ace: In the same vein as Taking a Level in Badass, Poppy becomes this during her secondary trip to the Space Between. Training in martial arts, swordplay, gunplay, and archery in addition to her newfound powers, Poppy evolves from a kindhearted Badass Pacifist to a ruthless Blood Knight and even more powerful Physical God.
- Action Girl: Poppy gradually transforms into this over the course of The Other Side Of The Storm. With the proper training, she becomes highly adept at guns, swords, bows and arrows, and even her bare hands.
- Adaptational Badass: Compared to her movie counterpart, this version of Poppy is more than willing to partake into a fight or two in order to save the day. It is Justified during The Other Side, when it becomes clear that the fate of the Troll Kingdom is at stake and Queen Barb isn't going to give up without a fight, prompting her and the rest of the group to fight fire with fire. And then there's the matter of her being imbued with the power of the Strings...
- Anti-Hero: On the flip side of Taking a Level in Badass, Poppy becomes comfortable with resorting to more questionable methods to get the job done.
- Apologetic Attacker: She starts off as this, and then she lets adrenaline get the best of her...
- Badass Normal: Zig-zags between this and Empowered Badass Normal. Over the course of The Other Side Of The Storm, Poppy must to learn how to fight back, defend herself, and build up the proper combat skills when in battle in addition to flawlessly control her newfound powers.
- Big Damn Heroes: In the final battle of The Other Side Of The Storm, a superpowered Poppy arrives as the combined efforts of the Party Crashers, the Chanty Trolls, and the Siren Trolls manage to overwhelm the heroes and corner them while holding CJ Suki and Priscilla hostage. She utterly wipes the floor with them.
- Blood Knight: In a stark contrast to her Badass Pacifist days. When Poppy does get into a fight or confrontation with the enemy, she is surprised to enjoy the challenge and adrenaline rush that comes with it. Naturally, this worries many of her friends and allies.
- Cool Sword: They soon become Poppy's preferred weapons...and she carries a LOT of them:
- A Roman Gladius.
- A Model 1832 Foot Artillery Sword.
- A Baselard Short Sword.
- A Viking / Carolingian Sword.
- A Chinese Jian.
- A Japanese Katana and Wakizashi.
- The Sword of Protection, given to her in the future by an older Adora.
- Death Faked for You: In one of the many alternate universes, Poppy did destroy the Strings and still ended up badly burned but did not die. Instead, she fell into a coma that lasted a few weeks, during which Pop Village and the rest of the Troll Tribes descended further into chaos. Believing that she failed as Queen despite others stating otherwise, Poppy decides to have Dr. Plum Plimsy fake her death so she can become a vigilante nomad.
- Disney Death: Deconstructed. After temporarily dying after destroying the Strings and being subsequently resurrected in The Other Side, Poppy is understandably traumatized at facing death, contracting a form of PTSD as a result.
- The Dreaded: Surprisingly enough, you would never expect a Troll like her to become this.
- Future Badass: In one of the many alternative futures, she's the leader of an allied resistance against an oppressive evil.
- The Gunslinger: As she becomes an expert in firearms, Poppy combines elements of The Quick Draw, The Trick Shot, The Woo, and occasionally The Vaporizer.
- Gun Fu: Although she is no stranger to using guns before, Poppy mainly used handguns to wound her enemies. Her current journey in the Space Between involves her training in proper firearms tactics from experienced gunslingers, reminiscent of famous sport shooter Taran Butler (best known for his work in John Wick: Chapter 2, The Fate of the Furious, the first seasons of S.W.A.T. (2017) and Altered Carbon, and Black Panther).
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Downplayed as she does guns alongside her swords but seems to prefer the latter.
- Improvised Weapon: A Justified case, in which one of the martial art styles Poppy is being trained in is Arnis/Eskrima/Kali, a Filipino Martial Art that emphasizes weapon-based fighting, particularly with swords, knives, sticks, blades in general, and other improvised weapons.
- Knight in Sour Armor: In one of the many alternate universes, Poppy is a nomad vigilante bounty hunter who hunts down various criminals with a ruthless demeanor but still believes in the good of the people.
- Lightning Bruiser: After proper training, Poppy becomes incredibly fast, strong, and agile to the point where she can go toe-to-toe with the more violent Party Crashers and the Chanty Trolls and the Siren Trolls.
- One-Woman Army: She gradually becomes this over the course of The Other Side Of The Storm. As revealed in one of the many alternate universes, she already is this, working as a violent vigilante who manages to make work of a child-abusing pimp and his henchmen in quick order. The song of the same name even appears on her soundtrack that her fights are set to. In the final battle between the Trolls and the Party Crasher/Chanty/Siren Troll alliance, she manages to wipe out the majority of them, freaking out Serina and Kiri and impressing Bash a little.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: Even more so than her canon self. As mentioned above, she personally wipes out the majority of the Party Crasher/Chanty/Siren Troll alliance in the second installment.
- Stepford Smiler: After temporarily dying after destroying the Strings, Poppy is understandably somber. However, she would never admit this directly, instead placing her attention to making TrollsTopia a reality. Predictably, this worries Branch and causes her to "Glitch" out.
- Story-Breaker Power: Literally described as such, word-for-word, by Major Tom when it is revealed by Turner that Poppy is imbued with the power of all six of the Strings.
- Superpower Lottery: Again, literally described as such, word-for-word, by Major Tom when it is revealed by Turner that Poppy is imbued with the power of all six of the Strings.
- That Man Is Dead: A variant. The Snack Pack believed that the old Poppy died after she destroyed the Strings during the climax of The Other Side. Since then, she's been more solemn and reclusive, keeping to herself and making not many public appearances except during celebratory parties and tribe leader meetings.
- Took a Level in Badass: Her entire character arc over the course of The Other Side Of The Storm consists of this. Her gaining the powers of the Six Strings is a retroactive example.
The love interest of Poppy and expert survivalist of Pop Village.
- Adaptational Badass: In canon, his skills in fighting extend to just his hair, his remote Gary and sticks. Here, it extends to conventional weapons such as swords, knives, and firearms.
- Deuteragonist: Much like his parent films, Branch serves as this to Poppy. For example, in The Other Side Of The Storm, he has his own subplot in leading the rest of the Troll Tribes to safety, first by sheltering them in his bunker and then traveling to the Folk Rock Kingdom.
- Jaw Drop: He does this in the final chapter of The Other Side Of The Storm. Specifically during the victory celebration, where he sees Poppy in a new white bikini, which is practically foreign to him and the Trolls supporting cast. Queen Peony calmly closes his mouth for him, stating that "horseflies are still a thing".
- Luminescent Blush: He elicits this in the final chapter of The Other Side Of The Storm. Specifically, during the victory celebration, he becomes glowing hot red when Poppy arrives on the scene with a new bikini, which he (and most of the supporting cast from the Trolls universe) has never seen before. It only increases when an arriving Raya states to Mirabel that the pink bikini she almost chose would make her appear nude.
- Nose Bleed: Discussed at first. During the epilogue of The Other Side Of The Storm, Branch is stunned to see Poppy in a bikini, but the nosebleed doesn't happen there. Instead, it is when Poppy kisses him for being a good luck charmnote that his noses finally bleeds as he faints in bliss.
One of Poppy's closest friends.
- Ascended Extra: Compared to her role in the first Trolls and World Tour (which excised her completely), she has a substantially larger role here alongside her niece CJ.
- Mama Bear: Technically she's more of an Aunt, but her reaction to seeing her niece CJ in danger during the climax of The Other Side is to gun down the Party Crashers who endangered her in the first place.
- Promoted to Love Interest: In addition to her Ascended Extra status, DJ also becomes this towards King Trollex, whom she bonds with over their similar interests.
A pair of formerly conjoined Pop Troll twins who are fashionistas to the core.
- Adaptational Badass: Both twins are hit with this trope, but Chenille is the most prominent example. In the climax of The Other Side, after Bash cuts their hair and separates them, she dual-wields two machetes before charging into battle, unleashing a terrifying war cry while doing so.
- Attempted Rape: Both twins suffer from this at the hands of the Party Crashers. The first time is Satin, who manages to fend off her attackers before blowing them up along with herself. The second time is Chenille, who manages to fend off her attackers before an newly superpowered Satin arrives and saves her.
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Despite the Sibling Rivalry below, Chenille is worried that, because of their continuous fighting, Satin will never know how much Chenille loves her as her sister. In Chapter 15, Chenille is distraught when it becomes clear Satin is fatally wounded while protecting her and the others from the Party Crashers. The latter apologizes to the former for her past mistreatment of her and gives her a Dare to Be Badass speech before apparently dying.
- Conjoined Twins: While they start off playing the trope straight like in the original franchise, it's later subverted. Bash cuts the part of their hair that holds them together during the climax of The Other Side, and they remain separated throughout the fanfics ever since then.
- Disney Death: In Chapter 15. When Satin dies protecting Chenille and the rest of the Troll Tribes from the pursuing Party Crashers, her body and consciousness are transported to the Space Between.
- Heroic Sacrifice: In Chapter 15. When the Party Crashers invade Branch’s bunker and pursue the Troll Tribes through the tunnels, Chenille tries to pull this when saving a young Funk Troll girl, but Satin instead get them both out to safety at the cost of her own. Satin is fatally wounded while fighting them off, but she manages to activate the failsafe explosives, killing a good chunk of the Party Crashers in the process.
- It's All My Fault: Chenille develops this mindset in Chapter 14. She blames herself for Poppy’s death during The Other Side, even if she was resurrected and again after the events of Chapter 15 after Satin dies protecting her and the rest of the Troll Tribes from the pursuing Party Crashers.
- Promoted to Love Interest: Chenille has become this to Prince D, a feeling that the latter reciprocates.
- Sibling Rivalry: During her talk with Prince D in Chapter 14, Chenille has repeatedly dubbed Satin as the braver, more daring, and more social of the two, which has damaged her own self-esteem to an extent. Because she spent much of her time following her commands, she tries to step out of her shadow, which has led to a recent fight between them.
- Strange Minds Think Alike: In the fourteenth chapter, prior to her conversation with Prince D, Chenille hurls a pair of scissors at the doorway of the room she is in, barely missing his face by an inch and prompting her to apologize. Satin does the exact same thing in the Space Between during the eighteenth chapter, this time with an actual knife; she too apologizes to the poor Pop Troll who barely missed the blade by an inch.
Once a calm, positive Pop Troll who approached everything with a Zen-like wisdom, a personal betrayal (made by himself) and subsequent near-death experience has led Creek to defect from the rest of his kind and live as a cynical, violent Bounty Hunter.
- Adaptational Badass: He was a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing and Dirty Coward in his parent film. Here, upon his survival and working with the likes of Queen Barb, he is an experienced Bounty Hunter who manages to wipe the floor with an entire group of Party Crashers.
- Color Failure: For the most part, he has lost the majority of his colors after deserting the Pop Tribe.
- Eye Scream: In the time that passed between Trolls and Trolls World Tour, he has an eyepatch on his left eye.
- Heel–Face Revolving Door: After defecting from the Pop Trolls, he becomes a Bounty Hunter who eventually comes in the service of Queen Barb. However, while his main intentions are unknown, this job is eventually revealed as a ruse to warn Poppy about Barb's plan to use the Six Strings.
- Took a Level in Cynic: Following his betrayal of the Pop Trolls, he was forced to become a Bounty Hunter where he became grey and developed a more cynical worldview.
A Pop Troll / Maker Troll talent (and favorite hobby) is art and she is a skilled painter in doing representational, expressionist, and abstract paintings. She's also always covered in paint.
- Adaptational Badass: This variant of Harper is far more proactive in the action scenes than her canon counterpart, often wielding a shotgun during them.
- Ascended Extra: While barely making much of an appearance in the first movie and TrollsTopia, she did have more of a presence in The Beat Goes On!, the predecessor series to the latter succeeding series. However, this series gives her a more active role, such as The Other Side where she teams up with Mandy Sparkledust, Moxie Drewdrop, and Aspen Heitz to inflitrate the Rock Trolls.
- Promoted to Love Interest: In the parent series, not much is known about her love life due to making sporadic appearances. Here, she is the love interest of Archer Pastry / Kaboom. Needless to say, the general reaction essentially boils down to a Flat "What" or "No. Just… No" Reaction, both Played for Laughs.
The long-lost older sister of Queen Poppy and the leader of the Putt-Putt Trolls.
- Action Girl: She proves to be this in The Other Side Of The Storm, first by fighting a shotgun-wielding Chenille and a knife-wielding Prince D with a bow-and-arrow and then a knife of her own, and then in the final battle, where she takes down numerous enemies with her aforementioned bow-and-arrow.
- The Chief's Daughter: Same as her sister Poppy.
- Fantastic Racism: Downplayed, but still present.
- Genki Girl: Like her sister and canon variant, she can be very hyperactive.
- Nice Girl: She is this much like her sister and canon variant.
- Promoted to Love Interest: Here, she is the ex-girlfriend of Prince D.
- The Sixth Ranger: Shows up before the final battle in The Other Side of the Storm.
Original Pop Trolls
The former Queen of Pop Village and Queen Poppy's deceased mother. She is the High Queen of the Space Between and a prominent character in The Other Side and its sequels. She originally belongs to Tumblr user glushiez.
- Ascended Extra: After playing a Small Role, Big Impact in The Other Side, Peony becomes this in The Other Side Of The Storm, helping her daughter Poppy control her newfound powers and abilities in time to save her tribe and the others from the combined villainous forces of the Party Crashers, the Chanty Trolls, and the Siren Trolls.
- All-Loving Hero: She sees the best in everyone and gives the villains a second chance. This is a Downplayed Trope, however, because she is not naive and can differentiate between good and evil. If one does press her Berserk Button one too many times, she can inflict a Fate Worse than Death upon them.
- Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Following the climax of The Other Side (Chapter 43), Peony reacts to Poppy's Big Damn Kiss with Branch with screams of delight, saying that her daughter has found a man.
- Berserk Button: Threatening her family and subjects is one surefire way to royally piss herself off.
- Big Good: She serves as this role for the series.
- Canon Foreigner: She has no counterpart in the main Trolls franchise.
- Good Parents: She remains kind, calm, and affable towards Poppy during their interactions in the Space Between.
- The High Queen: Literally seen and described as such. A high-standing member of royalty, she sympathizes with her subjects and helps them through thick and thin while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Mama Bear: To Poppy. When she first arrives in the Space Between, Peony tells her that she vowed not to let any harm come to her family or her subjects, even in death.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: She listens to any concerns her subjects have and works to resolve them in a rational manner.
- Spirit Advisor: To Poppy again. Although not technically deceased, she serves as a wise mentor and guide to her daughter during her time in the Space Between.
- Strong Family Resemblance: She shares this with her daughter Poppy.
Poppy and Branch's daughter from the future.
- Action Girl: She was trained by her mother in the exact same style.
- Generation Xerox: Ruby takes an equal amount from both of her parents. Personality-wise, she takes Poppy's The Pollyanna and All-Loving Hero personality with Branch's Crazy-Prepared and Gadgeteer Genius know-how. Appearance-wise, she has Poppy's pink complexion and nose and Branch's blue eyes and hair with purple tints.
- Nice Girl: Affable, compassionate, kindhearted, and loyal to a fault. However, this does not make her soft.
- Queer Character, Queer Actor: Much like her actress, Ruby is bisexual, being in a former relationship with a K-Pop Troll named Daisy and a current relationship with a Rock Troll named Luke.
Original Rock Trolls
The former King of Volcano Rock City who was a mentor of King Thrash.
- Hot-Blooded: Despite being an overall Nice Guy, he has his moments of a Hair-Trigger Temper in between, much like his actor. However, it's mostly out of concern for his people.
- Named After Somebody Famous: He is named after David Bowie.
The aid of King Bowie who often has a sardonic (but not cynical) outlook on life.
- All Love Is Unrequited: He may or may not have a small crush on Poppy, due to him making googly eyes at her. Of course, he also knows that Branch is the one for her.
- Deadpan Snarker: As par the course.
- Named After Somebody Famous: Not an actual person per se, but Major Tom is a fictional astronaut referenced in four of David Bowie's songs, most notably Space Oddity.
The younger cousin of Val Thundershock and the daughter of Mal Shredder and Ballad Bill, a Pop Troll. She belongs to MasterClass60.
- Action Girl: She was trained by her older cousin Val in order to defend herself when she was grown.
- Babysitter Friendship: While accompanying DJ Suki and King Trollex on their trip around the different subgenre kingdoms, Melody serves as the caretaker towards the younger Trolls who snuck away with them.
- Big Sister Instinct: Crossing over into Cool Big Sis, she serves as this role towards the younger Trolls.
- Cute Bruiser: Make no mistake, Melody is undoubtedly a Nice Girl and an All-Loving Hero, but she is not above using her weapons, fists, mind, and anything else she can get her hands on to stay one step ahead of the bad guys.
- Master Archer: Despite the below case, she is an efficient crack shot with a bow and arrow.
- She-Fu: Overlapping with Waif-Fu, but Melody is a Downplayed example in the sense that she knows when to resort to alternative methods while dealing with larger and stronger opponents.
- The Straight and Arrow Path: She constantly switches between the recurve bow and the crossbow, depending on the current situation. However, she sticks mainly to the former.
The mother of Melody Song and the lover/unofficial wife of Ballad Bill. She belongs to MasterClass60.
- Action Mom: Having a daughter in the form of Melody did not stop her from overseeing her childhood development and getting back into the action when a crazy turn of events threaten her life. As such, she opens up Chapter 5 by opening fire with a FN M249 SAW on the Chanty Trolls' ship when they attack Volcano Rock City.
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: She shares this with her late husband Ballad Bill.
- Unresolved Sexual Tension: Unfortunately, before an official wedding could take place, Ballad Bill dies saving the lives of fellow Trolls.
- Mama Bear: Again, to her daughter Melody. In Chapter 5, after the Chanty Trolls begin invading Volcano Rock City, she holds down the fort with the biggest gun she has to let Melody escape with DJ's group to find the last Magical Musical Troll.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Luke is a kindhearted individual who loves his girlfriend, her family, and pretty much everyone and anyone he befriends. So God help you when you push his Berserk Button, which is threatening those he cares about.
- Understanding Boyfriend: He takes the time to listen to Ruby and help her solve most of her problems.
Funk Trolls
Original Funk Trolls
The former King of Vibe City, the husband of Queen Aretha, and the father of Queen Essence.
- Hip-Hop: Despite being a Funk Troll, James actually qualifies as Hip-Hop. It also serves as an explanation to where his grandson Prince D got his tastes from.
- Named After Somebody Famous: He is named after James Brown, nicknamed the "Godfather of Soul".
The former Queen of Vibe City, the wife of King James, and the mother of Queen Essence.
- Action Girl: Though not to the extent of her husband, Aretha becomes James's equal during their crime-fighting days.
- Named After Somebody Famous: She is named after Aretha Franklin, nicknamed the "Queen of Soul", "Lady Soul", and "Sister Re".
- Expy: He seems to be one of Erik Killmonger.
- Hip-Hop: Much like King James, he views himself as Hip-Hop. However, he represents the "gangsta rap" era of the late 1990s, whereas King James represents the "bling / jiggy / shiny suit" era of the early 1990s.
- I Have Many Names: And Kira, Starr, Beth, Sophia, Jennifer, and Darling are among them.
- Meaningful Name: Her two names allude to jazz musician Cassandra Wilson and funk musician Cynthia Robinson.
- R&B: She is a fan of the quiet storm genre.
- Queer Character, Queer Actor: She is played by queer actress Kiersey Clemons, while two of her main color palette is lavender and white (the main colors of the chevon queer flag).
Country Trolls
Original Country Trolls
The former Sheriff of Lonesome Flats and the husband of Mayor Dolly as well as the father of Delta Dawn.
- Good Parents: Zig-Zagged. While he was strict on Delta when she was younger, he and Dolly merely wished for her not to make the same mistakes they made when she becomes the ruler of Lonesome Flats. Also, it's clear Delta does look back on them with fond memories.
- Named After Somebody Famous: He is named after John Fogerty.
- Papa Wolf: To Delta Dawn and, by extension, his grandniece Clampers.
The former Mayor of Lonesome Flats and the wife of Sheriff John as well as the mother of Delta Dawn.
- Good Parents: Zig-Zagged. While she was strict on Delta when she was younger, she and John merely wished for her not to make the same mistakes they made when she becomes the ruler of Lonesome Flats. Also, it's clear Delta does look back on them with fond memories.
- Mama Bear: To Delta Dawn and, by extension, her grandniece Clampers.
- Named After Somebody Famous: She is named after Dolly Parton. This is also a Shout-Out to Hello, Dolly! and its 1969 film adaptation of the same name starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, which was referenced in World Tour in a Freeze-Frame Bonus.
The former Sheriff before John who was once a Bounty Hunter and the uncle of Delta Dawn.
- Cool Old Guy: Overlaps with Cool Uncle. He often listens more to Delta than her parents should, but he respects John and Dolly enough to get them to work their issues together.
- Cool Uncle: Overlaps with Cool Old Guy. He encourages her niece Delta's wishes to become the future Sheriff of Lonesome Flats, even training her to become a Gunslinger like him.
- Guile Hero: He's more than willing to use his mind and wits to get out of a tight situation.
- The Gunslinger: He was this in his past life, carrying a pair of guns in the form of a Colt MK IV Series 70 and a Colt Commander.
A Country Troll with a Dark and Troubled Past.
- The Cynic: She has a downbeat outlook on life, and her knowledge of Ancient Troll History didn't help matters.
- The Gunslinger: And a pretty darn good one at that.
- I Work Alone: She's managed to survive on her own for a long time due to this mentality.
- Named After Somebody Famous: She is named after Olivia Newton-John. Also counts as Meaningful Name when you learn that Newton-John was a Country / Folk musician who underwent a Genre Shift into Hard Rock and Pop. In Olivia's case, it's the reverse; she was a Pop Troll before defecting to Country.
- Punch-Clock Hero: She is hired by Poppy in true Magnificent Seven fashion for, among other reasons, the sake of money. She eventually grows out of this.
- Shotguns Are Just Better: She carries a Mossberg 500 Cruiser and a SIG SG 552 for personal missions and a Marlin Model 1895SBL with a shiny nickel finish for professional missions.
- Vigilante Man: She is a renegade Bounty Hunter who hunts down despicable criminals who are far worse than herself.
- With Friends Like These...: The reason why she's the person she is today. She was framed for a crime she didn't commit because of her past, and nobody defended her...not even her best friends. When the true culprit was exposed, it was too little too late, and she was presumed dead by many, not knowing that she defected to the Country Trolls.
Classical Trolls
Original Classical Trolls
The former Conductor of the Classical Trolls.
- British Stuffiness: Downplayed, but present. He is mildly uptight, but he has no problem lightening up on occasion. He just has a "problem" of knowing when to take it down a notch.
- Named After Somebody Famous: He is named after Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
- Punny Name: As mentioned above, his name is a Portmanteau of "Troll" and "Tchaikovsky".
- Quintessential British Gentleman: Prim, proper, and cordial to a T.
- Stiff Upper Lip: Even in the face of danger, he maintains a calm demeanor.
The Conductor of the Romantic Trolls, a successor to the Classical Trolls.
- Named After Somebody Famous: She is named after Clara Schumann.
The Composer of the Romantic Trolls, a successor to the Classical Trolls.
- Named After Somebody Famous: She is named after Cecile Chaminade.
Techno Trolls
Original Techno Trolls
The former Governess of Techno Reef.
- Hidden Depths: The reason for her Shipper on Deck status for many characters is because she herself was in love once. The Troll in question was not Techno, and her parents forbid the relationship because of it, to the point where they arranged a marriage just to prevent her from making "a rash decision". Unfortunately, the idea worked a little too well, causing Nina to have doubts about the relationship and love in general. This led her to become a cold-hearted, ruthless, and efficient ruler, discarding any motions of love until the day she dies. She has held on to this regret in the Space Between and is making amends by becoming The Matchmaker to potential couples.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Not just herself, but her parents as well. She's horrified at becoming the Ice Queen after her parents convince her that Love Hurts, while her parents themselves are ashamed of letting their daughter become The Unfettered during her reign as the Techno Queen.
- Named After Somebody Famous: Word of God has stated this was unintentional at first, but has since decided to roll with it. Nina shares her name with Nina Boldt / NINA, a German singer-songwriter who specializes in Synthwave Electronic Music.
- The One That Got Away: Nina laments that she never got to reconcile with her potential significant other due to the Arranged Marriage and her own insecurities.
- Shipper on Deck: It's Downplayed at the most, but she supports her successor (King Trollex)'s growing relationship with DJ Suki.
A pair of Techno Trolls who are boyfriend and girlfriend. Lotus is a Thrill Seeker who identifies as Electronic Rock; Dipsy is a Friend to All Living Things who identifies with Latin Pop. They are complete opposites, but they somehow make the relationship work. They are both owned by Tumblr user snail-noodle.
Both:
- Actor Allusion: Downplayed compared to other examples.
- For Lotus: He can play the guitar and enjoys spicy food/Italian food, much like his actor.
- For Dipsy: She is a night owl who enjoys pizza, ice cream, and anything with chocolate, much like her actress. She also spends her free time as an inventor, a nod to her actress's past famous roles for Disney.
- Foil: To Poppy and Branch.
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: To each other. Dipsy plays this trope straight, while Lotus is a Gender Flipped example.
- Understanding Boyfriend: To each other. Lotus played this trope straight, while Dipsi is a Gender Flipped example.
Lotus:
- Hidden Heart of Gold: Despite his somewhat intimidating appearance, he's actually a really sweet guy. Just remember to tell them that you're uncomfortable or he'll never take the hint.
- Nice Guy: He's kind, amicable, and reasonable with Dipsi and their friends.
- Post-Kiss Catatonia: Suffered from this during their first date, which was essentially the Techno Troll version of Prom Night.
Dipsy
- Nice Girl: She's gentle, goodhearted, and understanding with Lotus and their friends.
- Pacifist: She prefers more diplomatic situations compared to Lotus.
- Shrinking Violet: She was this before she met Lotus, who taught her how to loosen up a little more.
Another Techno Troll couple who are also the best friends of Lotus and Dipsy. They also belong to Tumblr user raindrop-righteous.
Both
- Beta Couple: To their friends Lotus & Dipsy.
- Foil: Again, to their friends Lotus & Dipsy.
- Only Sane Man: Their behavior is considerably more well-adjusted to action-packed situations compared to Lotus and Dipsy.
King Trollex's parents in an alternate universe. They once again belong to Tumblr user raindrop-righteous.
Both
- Battle Couple: When they were both of age to join their Royal Guard, they acted like this on the battlefield.
- Good Parents: To King Trollex.
- Happily Married: With the exception of the occasional trivial argument.
- Papa Wolf: To King Trollex and also Princess Gemini, his alternate younger sister/daughter.
- Puppy Love: In a homage to Luca, they both met at a young age during a time where Techno was considered the most fearsome of the Troll Tribes.
- Slap-Slap-Kiss: They showed hints of this during their teenage years.
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: To each other in a male variant.
The best friend of Gemini. She belongs to Tumblr user purple-eyesgreydragon.
- Author Avatar: She is the "Trollsona" of purple-eyesgreydragon herself.
The Bounty Hunters
Evelyn
A Swing Troll who, after emerging from self-imposed exile after 70 years, becomes a close acquaintance of Poppy, who also regards her as such. More professional than her and Chaz (who she professionally dislikes), Evelyn learns how to loosen up and have fun once in a while thanks to the efforts of the one and only poppy Pop Queen.
- Fish out of Temporal Water: Downplayed. Because she spends many of her years in exile, Evelyn has trouble at first not knowing the history of the Troll Tribes with the exception of their establishment and separation. However, when she does meet Poppy and the rest of her group, she can adapt fairly quickly...especially when it comes to battle.
- Lady of War: Evelyn maintains elegance and finesse when in combat as a Cold Sniper or a Combat Pragmatist. It is one of the reasons she bonds with Tanya Zhao.
- Nice Girl: Gentle and kindhearted to the core, Evelyn is only strict and dedicated when it comes to getting the job first before "having fun".
- Only Sane Woman: She most assumes this role in comparison to Poppy and Charleston.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: Tresillo, along with Wani, is the first to be transformed into a Rock Zombie, complete with glowing red eyes.
- Say My Name: Marimba and Tambora, along with the rest of the Latin Trolls, scream "TRESILLO!" as he is forcibly transformed into a Rock Zombie, courtesy of the Ultimate Power Chord.
- Taking the Bullet: Upon seeing that Marimba and Tambora are about to be hit by the Ultimate Power Chord, Tresillo doesn't hesitate to jump in the line of fire.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: Wani, along with Tresillo, is the first to be transformed into a Rock Zombie, complete with glowing red eyes.
- Say My Name: The rest of the K-Pop Gang scream "WANI!" as she is forcibly transformed into a Rock Zombie, courtesy of the Ultimate Power Chord.
- Taking the Bullet: Uponing seeing that Ari, Kim-Petit, Gomdori, and Baby Bun are about to be hit by the Ultimate Power Chord, Wani doesn't hesitate to jump in the line of fire.
Other Trolls
A group of Trolls who are essentially crime-fighters who protect their kingdom as well as others in the service of royalty and altruism.

Amy
A highly proficient if somewhat self-centered member of the Lost Trolls.
- Attention Whore: Downplayed, but Amy has a tendency to get involved in businesses other than her own with the purpose of getting off the thrill of the drama that comes with it.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Amy is a self-obsessed, self-proclaimed Drama Queen...but God help you if you threaten her friends, her loved ones, or even herself.
- Dance Battler: Justified. Amy was trained as a ballet dancer before her affiliation with the Lost Trolls, so she tends to add her own spin to her fighting tactics.
A subgenre Troll Tribe that the Reggaeton Trolls are associated with. Like the Dragon Trolls below, they first originated in the story Lost by SuperNova CO.
As A Whole
- Adaptation Name Change: They were called the Samba Trolls in Lost. Here, they are called the Latin Trolls because, as Word of God claims, they wished to keep all genres of Latin Music united despite the Orphaned Etymology.
Diogo
- Taking the Bullet: Literally. Diogo soars in and tackles Poppy out of the way of gunfire in Chapter 36 of The Other Side. He manages to survive.
Selena
- Affectionate Nickname: Selena states that her friends (Poppy included) call her "Ramona".
- Expy: Word of God states that Selena is a stand-in of, appropriately, Selena. This is also counts as an Actor Allusion, because J-Lo is essentially playing Selena again.
- Nice Girl: Both in life and in death.
- Older Than They Look: Despite looking Poppy's age, Word of God states that Selena is actually older than her if only by a slight margin.
- Shipper on Deck: She fully supports Poppy's relationship with Branch and even has the time to give her advice.
A group of assorted Trolls who turned to a life of crime and piracy.
Captain Blue
The Captain of the current generation of the Chanty Trolls.
- Dark and Troubled Past: In Chapter 3, we learn about more about the Captain in depth. To wit:
- Her parents never wanted as a baby and left her at an orphanage.
- When she was 4, she lost her virginity.
- When she was 7, she became a sex worker.
- When she was 10, she became a Sex Slave for a Sultan.
- When she was 15, she became a Pirate obsessed with Revenge.
- Leitmotif: One of her main ones is "Maneater".
- Ms. Fanservice: Deliberately invoked and crossing over with The Vamp.
- Rape as Drama: As mentioned above, she lost her virginity at the age of 4, became a prostitute at the age of 7, and became a Sex Slave at the age of 10.
- Two Voices, One Character: She achieves this through a voice modulator.
A group of dragon-like Trolls that the K-Pop Trolls are associated with. Like the Latin Trolls, they first originated in the story Lost by SuperNova CO.
As A Whole
- Dragons Are Divine: The members of royalty in particular are depicted as powerful and elegant.
- Fantasy Counterpart Culture: The land of the Dragon Trolls blends various cultures of Asia as a whole, with various actors/actresses of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian/Pakistani, Iranian, Indonesian, Egyptian /Afghan, and Filpino descent representing their respective factions.
- Our Dragons Are Different: They are not explicitly dragons in a sense, but they do exhibit dragon-like characteristics and behavior for the most part.
The Royal Family
Sun Lien:
- "I Am" Song: Overlapping with the "I Am Great!" Song, Sun Lien's is Ultraluminary by Phillipa Soo.
An offshoot of the Hard Rock Trolls, the Folk Rock Trolls eventually formed a kingdom of their own. It consists of the British Folk Rock Trolls, the Celtic Rock Trolls, the Folk Metal Trolls, the Folk Punk Trolls, the Indie Folk Trolls, and the Medieval Folk Rock Trolls.
Eric
The King of the Folk Rock Trolls and the Captain of the Royal Guard.
- Actor Allusion: He shares numerous similarities to Stoick, as they're both Made of Iron Brave Scots.
- More Dakka: He firmly believes in this trope if it means it would hold back the enemy long enough to give the citizens a chance to escape. That being said, he usually conserves their ammuninition and waits until the proper moment to let loose.
Zoe
One of the many young Folk Rock Trolls.
- Action Girl: Her official introduction in Chapter 5 reveals thar she received firearms training from her father.
- Cold Sniper: One of her weapons is a Winchester Model 70.
Annabeth
One of the many young Folk Rock Trolls.
- Shotguns Are Just Better: One of her weapons is a Mossberg 500 Persuader.
Maya
One of the many Folk Rock Trolls. She is a member of the Royal Guard and in an "open marriage" with Amber.
- Blood Knight: While on the side of good, Maya can be utterly ruthless in battle.
- Butch Lesbian: Downplayed. Maya is a Royal Guard member and usually clad in unfeminine attire, but she fits the Tomboy persona far more, as she does get in touch with her feminine side once in a while, but it's usually at the request of Amber.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She can be smug and abrasive, but it's merely a facade for her true personality and she does treat her King with nothing but respect. Plus, she will do anything for her "girlfriend" Amber.
- Queer Character, Queer Actor: Much like her actress, Maya is lesbian in an open relationship with Amber, who is bisexual.
A group of powerful Trolls who wielded the music of the six main Tribes. They went extinct a long time ago, with the exception of one...
Agatha / Aggie
The last Magical Musical Troll and the person who DJ Suki's group are sent to find.
- Last of Their Kind: She is the last of the Magical Musical Trolls.
- Nice Girl: She is very kindhearted and open-minded.
- Official Couple: With King Trollex in her home universe.
The ancestors of the current Troll Tribe Leaders. According to Word of God, many of them (if not all) are Canon Foreigners, are given Adaptational Villainy, and are the type of Trolls designed to root against.
In General:
- Abusive Parents: Many of them share this trait, often planting negative ideas in the minds of their offspring as a means to remain on top of their rivals. Their abuse can be very effective to the point where the offspring themselves could grow to be ''exactly'' like them.
- Asshole Victim: To the extreme. Many of their downfalls can be contributed to their own arrogance, weapons, or backstabbing henchmen, whom they often treat with equal disdain.
- Evil Colonialist: And not just the Pop Trolls, either. Every tribe was this to each other, hoping to convert the rest of the Tribes into their respective musical genre, an idea that was provoked by Pop themselves.
- Fantastic Racism: As with the above, every tribe harbored a kind of prejudice towards the other, but Pop's was the most blatant.
- Smug Snake: Many of them are far too arrogant for their own good.
- Villainous Legacy: Although they are long gone, their impact on the Trolls universe is long-felt.
A pair of Subgenre Trolls who both originated in the story Trolls World Tour - Real Harmony Takes Lots Of Voices by TU4QU0I53T4IAN6L3. Despite playing relatively small roles in the story overall, their contribution is nonetheless prominent.
Both
- Adaptational Job Change: The original story had no prior mention of them being Bounty Hunters.
- Friend to All Children: But both have their own methods of "babysitting" said children.
Bastille
- Alternative Rock: Or rather, Indie Alternative.
- I Work Alone: Downplayed. He has no problem working alongside Charleston.
- Expy: Of Deadshot, albeit tamer but no less competent.
- Noble Demon: Downplayed in the sense that he isn't a villain by any means, but despite his aloof nature, he has a set of codes he follows and believes in the concept of loyalty.
- Only Sane Man: Compared to Charleston, this is a given considering his job.
- The Stoic: He maintains a calm, grace, and professional demeanor during his missions, even under pressure.
Charleston
- Beware the Silly Ones: As mentioned below under Bunny-Ears Lawyer, Charleston can be far from harmless when someone decides to make fun of her friends, threaten her newfound family, or insult her background or Swing in general.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Despite her absolutely insane, absent-minded, and overall Cloudcuckoolander nature, Charleston is actually a competent counterspy, an incredible infiltrator, and a fantastic fighter. In fact, she can be incredibly dangerous when deciding to give a shit.
- Crazy Is Cool: Her antics are so absurd and outrageous that they tend to work in favor of the heroes.
- Dance Battler: She can regular dance and tap dance. As such, she incorporates elements from both to more often not distract and disorient her enemies.
- Large Ham: Believe us, she has her moments to shine, often out-hamming the others.
Bash
The leader of the malicious and mischievous Party Crashers and a recurring villain in The Other Side series.- Adaptational Villainy: In Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, his worst crimes are invading Pop Village and trying to feed Mr Dinkles to a mammoth. Here, he is a sociopath who has undergone Sanity Slippage and is perfectly fine with killing, looting and in some cases raping Trolls and his people alike.
- Mook Lieutenant: Plays this role in The Other Side and The Other Side Of The Storm.
- Sanity Slippage: Has undergone one between The Other Side and The Other Side Of The Storm.
- Villain Respect: In The Other Side Of The Storm, following the final battle where a superpowered Poppy manages to kill many of the villains, Bash is left in awe but taunts her to fight him on equal footing...without her powers. Unsurprisingly, this goes as well as one would expect.
Velvet & Venner
A group of people from the Multiverse who originated from different movies, animated series, and other properties and ended up in the Space Between at a crucial moment in their respective media.
Adora & Catra
Both
Mirabel Madrigal
A member of the Familia Madrigal, a (quite literally) magical family. Specifically, she is the youngest daughter of Julieta and Agustín Madrigal and the youngest sister of Isabela and Luisa Madrigal. After she dies saving the candle that gives the family their gifts, she ends up in the Space Between and teams up with Queen Poppy in a bid to return home.
- Adaptational Badass: In her parent film, Mirabel leans close to an Action Survivor type; she isn't much of a fighter, but she is scrappy and able to navigate rather treacherous areas of Casita when trying to learn what's causing the magic to fade, including going into her Tio Bruno's abandoned room (full of stairs and falling sand with holes in the platform at the top) and successfully getting the candle from the window in a quickly falling-apart Casita towards the end with nothing but her wits and agility. Here, she leans closer to an Action Girl as she undergoes accelerated combat training, wields a shotgun, and even receives powers from a superpowered Poppy herself.
- Ambiguously Bi: She develops a crush on Raya from The Other Side Of The Storm onward, but she also gushes over her alternate love interest Matías from Finding Paradise (which exists as "Earth-220510").
- Best Friend: She becomes this to Poppy over the course of The Other Side Of The Storm, exchanging advice and witty remarks with each other while being the first to lend a helping hand in any dire situation. Poppy even refers to her as this when, upon arriving in TrollsTopia, Mirabel attempts to downplay herself as no one important.
- I Choose to Stay: It's revealed that in The Other Side Of The Storm: Part 2, Mirabel could've traveled back home at any time, but she chose to stay in the Space Between for the time being for the sake of her family.
- In Love with Your Carnage: Crossing over with Love at First Sight, Mirabel falls for Raya upon witnessing her cutting through the training dummies with little effort in Chapter 10.
- The Lancer: As her best friend Poppy is The Leader, she serves as this with the Interdimensional Friend Squad.
- Not So Above It All: In Chapter 21 of The Other Side Of The Storm, she is one of two members of the Interdimensional Friends Squad (the other being Ruby) to actually enjoy Velvet and Veneer's single "Watch Me Work".
- Overshadowed by Awesome: She feels this way about the rest of her magical family to the point where she tries to feel okay with her lack of powers, but she feels like she is not able to contribute much to the family or to the town because of her lack of them. This lessens upon her arrival in the Space Between, where she gets a job as a fashionista/seamstress for the people of Latin City, and disappears when she meets Poppy.
- Plucky Girl: Her indomitable spirit, unfailing compassion, and willingness to adventure are not just trademark attributes of this archetype, but also her greatest strengths. It is one of the reasons why she bonds with Poppy.
- Shipper on Deck: She supports Mei's relationship with Alberto and Miles' relationship with Ruby.
Raya
A fierce and virtuous warrior princess of the Heart Tribe from the land of Kumandra who has been training to become a Guardian of the Dragon Gem, the one magical artifact that can protect them all from the malevolent Druun. To save her father from petrification and restore peace to Kumandra, she embarks on a search for the Last Dragon to help her reclaim and reunite the pieces of the Dragon Gem. After she manages to achieve her goal at the cost of her own life, she ends up in the Space Between and regains the desire to return home after an extended period of time.
- Action Girl: One of the best examples in Poppy's new group of friends. Ever since she was a young girl, she has been trained in hand-to-hand combat, swordplay, and even arnis sticks by her father Benja. She hones these skills when she trains with Miss Shinobu Kocho and joins Poppy in the final battle against the Party Crashers, the Chanty Trolls, and the Siren Trolls.
- Cool Big Sis: Just as she became this to Boun and Noi in the living world, she becomes this to Mei Lee as well in the Space Between, seeing as she is also a psuedo-mentor to her during their training sessions and calls her "Mei-Mei".
- The Tease: Surprisingly, she serves as this to Mirabel after deducing her crush on her despite having no current interest in a romantic relationship (claiming it to be too soon). She even calls her crush on her "sweet and flattering".
- Took a Level in Cheerfulness: It's downplayed, but she is far more lighthearted here than in her parent film pre-Character Development, becoming a kind and overprotective Cool Big Sis to Mei and teases Mirabel about her crush on her.
- Whip Sword: Her main weapon is a sword that converts into a segmented bullwhip, initially belonging to her father. She acquires an alternate version of this in the Space Between.
Meilin "Mei" Lee
A 13-year-old confident and overachieving middle school student who transforms into a giant red panda whenever she is in a state of extreme emotion. While initially horrified and cautious over this inherited power, Mei ultimately comes to accept her new ability and engages in a fight with her mother over her decision to keep it out. After a trip in the astral plane leads to a reconciliation with her, Mei ends up in the Space Between as she learns to properly hone her transformation powers.
- Adaptational Badass: Already a reluctant Action Girl in her parent film, Mei Takes a Level in Badass through her training in the Space Between. She also possesses pyrokinesis and sizeshifting abilities, something that was actually considered during its pre-production phase.
- Affectionate Nickname: Raya and Alberto refers to her as "Mei-Mei".
- Bespectacled Cutie: Just as in her human form, Mei wears glasses in her Troll form and is a sweet, kindhearted character.
- Nice Girl: Mei is a Cute Clumsy Girl and All-Loving Hero rolled into one.
- Promoted to Love Interest: She is now the girlfriend of Alberto Scorfano.
Miles Morales
A 15-year-old teenager from Brooklyn, New York and the city's defender as the one and only "Spider-Man". One day of average do-gooding sees Miles confronted by The Spot, a villain who can travel the vast Multiverse, and pulled into an adventure by his friend Gwen Stacy, who has joined a large community of interdimensional Spider-People called the Spider-Society, who have neglected to let him join the elite team due to circumstances they are strangely reluctant to disclose until their leader Miguel O'Hara reveals them: Each of the Spider-People's stories throughout the multiverse entails "Canon Events", such as the deaths of a parental figure or police captain close to them as well as other strings of events that define a Spider-Man; and straying from these events threatens reality and may cause that universe to collapse, which in turn will collapse the entire multiverse as a consequence.
Upon realizing one of these Canon Events is The Spot murdering his father Jefferson Davis, the future police captain in his dimension, he rushes to prevent this from happening but is unfortunately too late. Not only has his father been murdered, but his mother Rio as well in addition to his entire universe collapsing. In a rage, a despondent Miles overpowers and kills The Spot before he is transported to the Space Between in a moment of clarity.
- Big Brother Instinct: He plays this role in The Other Side Of The Storm: Part 2, calming a hyperventilating Skye when she has a panic attack and assuaging her fears of unable to getting back home to her dimension or choosing to stay and supposedly abandoning her friends and family.
- Kid Hero: A teenager who gained the powers and abilities of a radioactive spider, which he retains upon his arrival in the Space Between.
- Not His Sled: Unlike in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, where he ended up in Earth-42 (the home of the spider that gave him his powers and abilities) instead of Earth-1610B (his home dimension), Miles ends up traveling to the latter dimension only to find it on the verge of collapsing courtesy of The Spot, who had just murdered his parents. Enraged, with the unwitting assistance of the Spider-Society, he does lure him into a trap on Earth-42, where he overpowers and kill him in an act of revenge.
- Promoted to Love Interest: In his parent films, he had plenty of Ship Tease with Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Gwen Stacy (the both of them were in a relationship in the comics), but the events of Across The Spider-Verse was enough to consider Gwen not telling him that he was the "original Anomaly" an act of betrayal on her part. Here, he instead finds a literal Replacement Goldfish in the form of a teenage kraken.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng
A teenage girl and aspiring fashion designer who lives with her parents over a successful bakery in Paris, France. At school, Marinette Dupain-Cheng is friendly, kindhearted, and modest with a knack for leadership, and is well-liked by most of her classmates and peers. When danger threatens Paris, Marinette rushes to the rescue, using her magic earrings to transform into the Miraculous Ladybug! As Ladybug, she's much more confident and assured. She's a clever and skilled fighter but is still working out some ethical knots, like where lies the line between personal and superhero life.
After the manipulative Lila Rossi manages to turn her own friends and family against her, Marinette is at a crossroads on what to do next when she receives a call from a mysterious individual who claims that the Multiverse is in dire need of her assistance; in addition, they claim to know the identity of Ladybug, her partner Cat Noir, and their enemy Hawk Moth. With her present allies compromised and running out of time, she recruits a new team under the individual's guidance and works to prevent Lila from claiming one more victory.
Afterwards, Marinette is transported to the Space Between to continue her training and expand her knowledge of the Multiverse.
- Action Girl: As the main heroine in her parent series, she has defeated countless enemies across her career with nothing but her yo-yo, quick thinking, and acrobatic martial arts.
- Batman Grabs a Gun: This variant of Marinette is surprisingly not adverse to use various firearms, even Dual Wielding a pistol with her signature yo-yo. However, this is a justified example when concerning the Party Crasher/Chanty/Siren Troll alliance.
- Promoted to Love Interest: Her main love interest in her parent series is Adrien Agreste. In the story where this version originates from, when it becomes apparent that he will make no attempt to stand up to Lila for her, she begins to gravitate to Camilo Madrigal instead when he proves that he will stand beside her against Lila.
Mr. Wolf
A pickpocket grey wolf who is the charismatic, smooth-talking leader of the titular Bad Guys. After a heist gone wrong lands him and his gang consisting of Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr. Piranha, and Ms. Tarantula in jail, they're given a chance to be set free if they decide to be good. Mr. Wolf then hatches a new scheme that might just save them from the slammer: what if they go good to keep being bad? However, after a series of events leads them to believe Good Feels Good, the gang tries to right a wrong brought upon a supposed ally.
However, despite the mission being a success, Wolf is mortally wounded in the process and is transported to the Space Between. He ultimately ends up in TrollsTopia before Queen Peony invites him to expand his knowledge on the vast Multiverse.
- Adaptational Badass: In his parent film, Wolf more or less takes on the role of the Badass Driver of the Bad Guys. This variant partakes in more fight scenes thanks to his combat training in the Space Between, and he even carries a pistol.
- Badass in a Nice Suit
- The Big Bad Wolf: He invokes this when first meeting a confused Satin upon her arrival in the Space Between.
- The Charmer
- Gentleman Thief
- Noble Wolf: Following up on his genuine Heel–Face Turn in his parent film, he fully displays the more heroic wolf tropes: he's loyal, brave, protective, and determined.
- Odd Friendship: He forms one with Satin when she arrives in the Space Between following her Heroic Sacrifice, often engaging in Snark-to-Snark Combat with her and even proclaiming himself as her "in-house therapist".
- Parental Substitute: While not present, Wolf becomes this to Mei the moment they meet when the latter first arrives in the Space Between.
- Sharp-Dressed Man
Ruby Gillman
A 15-year-old formerly awkward and shy high school junior who is a mathlete and tutor with an interest in marine life. Her organized life becomes disrupted upon accidentally activating her hidden royal Kraken abilities. She is eventually transported to the Space Between after defeating her nemesis in battle; while she seems eager to get back home, she's also content with the new life she has made for herself in the new dimension.
- Affectionate Nickname: Miles refers to her as "Ruby-Doo", a nickname given to her by her best friend Margot in her universe. Alberto calls her this as well, but it's Played for Laughs.
- All-Loving Hero: Ruby sees the best in everyone and will give the villains a second chance, even if said villain reject it. A downplayed example, considering that she is willing to blow up a building with several Party Crashers, Chanty Trolls, and Siren Trolls inside; of course, given that two of the groups are violent and murderous and one of them had recently backstabbed their own Captain, this is understandable.
- Badass Adorable
- Cool Big Sis: Plays this role towards the younger members of the team, specifically Alberto Scorfano and his girlfriend Mei Lee.
- Hellbent For Leather: In the Space Between, she wears a leather jacket above her normal outfit, complemented by a pair of black shades.
- Ink-Suit Actor: Ruby looks very much like her voice actor if she was a sea monster.
- Interspecies Romance: Downplayed for the fact that they were both Trolls in the Space Between. Ruby in the real world is a kraken warrior princess who can transform into a kaiju kraken, Miles is an academy student with the powers and abilities of a radioactive spider.
- Kaiju: She becomes one in her true form, much like her mother and grandmother before her. She keeps this form even as a Techno Troll.
- Nice Girl: She is very friendly, welcoming, and supportive towards her family and friends. She also idolizes and respects Queen Poppy.
- Promoted to Love Interest: Her parent film sees her undergo a Relationship Upgrade with Connor. Here, she is the love interest of Miles Morales.
- Purple Is Powerful: Ruby's Giant Kraken form changes her skin tone from light blue to purple. This form shown to quite formidable, thanks to its extreme size and incredible abilities.
- Relationship Upgrade: Not with Connor in her parent film, but rather Miles Morales.
- Shrinking Violet: Ruby's former prominent personality trait. She doesn't try to draw attention to her inherent weirdness as a sea creature posing as a human, and her parent film shows her undergoing Character Development to become a more confident heroine. The Other Side Of The Storm sees her progressing in that direction, but she occasionally lapses into this whenever her new boyfriend is around.

Princess Sofia I
The daughter of a shoe-saleswoman named Miranda Cordova, who became a queen when she married King Roland II; thus, she becomes a princess in turn. Sofia Balthazar is a kind, thoughtful, and loving young girl who is always willing to help and whose biggest trait is her belief in the good in others, even if some (or even they themselves) don't see it.
After she saves the Ever-Realm and the Mystic Isles from the villainous Vor following their imprisonment in the Amulet by the latter, Sofia is transported to the Space Between and taken under the wing of Queen Peony, the overseer of the vast Multiverse who allows her to continue her training and expand her knowledge of the various universes beyond her own. She forms a close bond with her mentor Esteban Flores, a relative of one of her close friends Elena.
- All-Loving Hero: In addition to being kind, caring, and polite, Sofia's primary trait (as mentioned above) is her tendency to see the best in others even if some people (or the others themselves) don't. Even when she founds out about Esteban's role in the invasion of Avalor, she recognizes that he feels immense guilt and often encourages him to become a better person.
- Badass Adorable
- Badass Bookworm
- Brainy Brunette
- Class Princess
- Friend to All Living Things
- Humble Hero
- Innocent Blue Eyes
- Kid Hero
- The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Sofia is the official protector of the Ever-Realm, and even she idolizes the other Trolls who were legendary heroes before their arrival in the Space Between, namely Queen Poppy, her mother Queen Peony, Shinobu Kocho, and Princess Peach, the latter of whom acts as a Cool Big Sis to her.
- Nice Girl
- Princess Classic
- Tomboy Princess
Chancellor Esteban Flores
The Chancellor of Avalor and the older maternal cousin of Crown Princess Elena Castillo Flores and her younger sister Isabel. While he can be egotistical and pushy at times, Esteban is committed to doing what he thinks is best for Avalor... even if that means trying to prove Elena is still too young to rule.
After being torn between his desire for power and his love for his family, Esteban finally performs one last selfless act, performing a Heroic Sacrifice to protect Elena from a petrification spell performed by Cahu, one of the four members of the villainous Four Shades Of Awesome. His selfless act results in his arrival in the Space Between, where a sympathetic Queen Peony appoints him as a royal advisor and allows him to continue his training and expand his knowledge of the vast Multiverse. In the process, he forms a close bond with his new apprentice, a young princess by the name of Sofia Balthazar.
- The Atoner: In his parent series, Esteban pulls a Heel–Face Turn and makes a vow to spend the rest of his life making up for what he had done...if Queen Elena will allow him. Here, he dies protecting Elena before said Heel–Face Turn could be cemented and, rationalizing that Elena and the rest of his family is safe through his Heroic Sacrifice, decides to spend the rest of his life in the Space Between and make good on that vow by helping and mentoring Princess Sofia.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold
- Parental Substitute: He takes on this role to Princess Sofia during their time in the Space Between, a feeling that is reciprocated by the latter. He often remarks that Sofia shares a few similarities with his younger cousin Isabel and often serves as his Morality Pet.
- Pride
- Red Is Heroic
- Teleportation
Princess Peach
- The Ace
- Action Girl: This variant is less of a Damsel in Distress like her video game counterpart and more of a proactive hero like her film counterpart.
- Benevolent Boss:
- Cool Big Sis: This variant becomes this towards Sofia Balthazar during her time in the Space Between, due to them being an example of Princess Classic.
- Damsel out of Distress
- Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak
- Humble Hero
- Kicking Ass in All Her Finery
- Nice Girl: This variant shares this trait with her film and video game counterparts, remaining kind, sweet, and gentle despite her Adaptational Badass and Xenafication treatment.
- One-Woman Army:
- Pretty Princess Powerhouse: While retaining much of her Princess Classic characterization, such as a kind and generous personality and her choice of fashion being pink, puffy dresses, she is far more of an Action Girl compared to more traditional depictions of her, a trait shared in her film variant.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: This variant is one of the royal members ruling over TrollsTopia in The Other Side Of The Storm, maintaining her idealistic and protective nature with her new subjects just as she did in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Queen Angella
- Barrier Warrior
- British Stuffiness

Lady Bone Demon
An ancient, powerful, and terrifying foe from the past of the Monkey King. After being freed from her tomb by the Demon Bull King family, the pieces are put in place for her to finally enact her plans to "erase the memories of the world". Upon her defeat, however, she is transported to the Space Between and given a clean slate, becoming a bit more kindhearted and humble through her subconscious efforts to change and better herself.
- Adaptational Heroism: During her time in the Space Between, she eventually undergoes this, becoming a valuable ally of Queen Poppy when aiding her in the final battle of The Other Side Of The Storm.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: She is more affable and cordial when she meets and befriends Queen Poppy, even willing to poke fun at her old reputation.
- Bad Powers, Good People: A result of her Heel–Face Turn, but downplayed in the sense that she rarely uses them in the present day. Her list of powers/abilities include corruption, power absorption, and even bone constructs, but she is an ally of Queen Poppy through and through.
Twilight Sparkle
The bearer of the Element Of Magic and a smart, studious unicorn from Canterlot and the (estranged) apprentice of Princess Celestia, one of the rulers of the kingdom of Equestria.
After the Changeling Queen—disguised as Princess Cadance—manipulates the events leading up to the Royal Wedding and turns the rest of her friends and allies (including her older brother, the groom) against her, she meets and befriends Sam Summers, a human being with a dark and troubled past who ends up escaping to Equestria by chance. On the day of the Royal Wedding, an invasion by a mysterious unicorn leads the both of them on a journey with new and old allies alike to defeat their enemies and save the day.
Afterwards, Twilight and Sunset are transported to the Space Between to continue their training and expand their knowledge of the vast Multiverse.
- Adaptational Sexuality: The canon version of Twilight's sexuality is never confirmed, but in Equestria Girls, she shows attraction to a teenage boy (Flash Sentry) and even blushes at the sight of his Pegasus counterpart. Here, she is bisexual and polyamorous, dating Flash Sentry (a male Pegasus) and Sunset Shimmer (a female human turned Unicorn).
- Affectionate Nickname: Sunset calls her "T-Sparks", which Mirabel eventually adopts as well.
- Badass Bookworm: This variant shares this trait with her canon variant; she is not only talented at magic, but perfectly capable and willing to lead a charge. With her warm, comforting, and endearingly dorky side of her, this can also cross into Cute Bookworm.
- Beam Spam: Much like her mainstream variant, she can fire beams of destructive magic at enemies practically at will, as demonstated in the Final Battle against the Party Crasher/Chanty/Siren Troll alliance.
- Polyamory: This version of Twilight is in a relationship with Sunset Shimmer and Flash Sentry.
Sunset Shimmer
A human teenage girl by the name of Sam Summers who finds her life upended and reputation damaged by an anonymous user on social media by the name of "Anon-A-Miss". When she runs afoul of an angry mob of vengeful classmates, she stumbles upon and into a magical portal in a haste to escape from them. Discovering an equally magical kingdom primarily populated by equally magical equines and other animals, Sam realizes it also serves as a parallel universe to her own. With that in mind, she decides to make use of her new lease on life and help her new friend, a studious unicorn by the name of Twilight Sparkle, save Equestria from a force of evil, dubbing herself "Sunset Shimmer".
Afterwards, Sunset and Twilight are transported to the Space Between to continue their training and expand their knowledge of the vast Multiverse.
- Adaptation Name Change: The story in which she made her first appearance, "The Elements Of Harmony", names her Sam Summers, reflecting her Adaptation Species Change as a normal, ordinary human being. She adopts the name Sunset Shimmer later on over the course of that story.
- Alternate Species Counterpart: While averted in the main series, the Sunset here is a human counterpart of the Sunset seen in Equestria Girls. This is also a case of Adaptation Species Change, as this Sunset is mentioned to be a regular human being with a normal name who was magically transported to Equestria through circumstance rather than originating from Equestria, as revealed in The Other Side of The Storm: Part 2.
- Polyamory: This version of Sunset is in a relationship with both Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry.
Flash Sentry
A disgraced Pegasus and former Royal Guard who finds himself turning to a life of crime to support himself and his loved ones. When an enemy of Equestria launches an invasion on Canterlot and thus threatens his livelihood, he is forced to stand by the ponies who abandoned him to save the kingdom he left behind.
Afterwards, Flash is transported to the Space Between to continue his training and expand his knowledge of the vast Multiverse.
- Polyamory: This version of Flash is in a relationship with both Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer.
- Satellite Love Interest: Played for Laughs for the most part. When Ruby is flustered and offended that her own Satellite Love Interest Connor is subjected to many a Ron the Death Eater / Death by Adaptation treatment due to his "flat, nonexistent" personality just so she can paired up romantically with her Big Bad Friend Arch-Enemy Chelsea, Flash notes that he can relate, stating the relationship between Twilight and Sunset (his own romantic partners) is far more popular than his own with either of them.
Nimona
Alberto Scorfano
A young sea monster who is enthusiastic to explore the human world and thus has some experience being on the surface. He is a cocky, mischievous, and sarcastic individual, but also a free-spirited, expressive and gregarious boy who is "all about having fun". Despite his cheerful and outgoing nature, he secretly hates living alone, as it is revealed that his only parent figure abandoned him in an island tower, leading him to feel lonely and insecure until he meets Luca Paguro, a fellow sea monster who is curious about life above the sea.
After he is mortally wounded defending Luca and their new friend Guilia Marcovaldo from the ruthless and snobbish bully Ercole Visconti, Alberto ends up in the Space Between and grows accustomed to the modern and futuristic kingdom that is TrollsTopia as he expands his knowledge of the vast Multiverse. He ultimately falls in love with a young human girl named Mei Lee, who has the ability to transform into a giant panda whenever she experiences a particular strong emotion.
- Adaptational Badass: He is this compared to the depiction in his parent film due to the training he receives in the Space Between.
- Battle Couple: He and Mei act as this when in battle.
- Promoted to Love Interest: He serves as the love interest to Mei Lee here, unlike in his parent film.
- Puppy Love: He and Mei fell in love with each other during their time in the Space Between. This also crosses into Sickeningly Sweethearts.
Skye
A young Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix) that serves as the aerial dog of the search-and-rescue group known as the PAW Patrol. Quite energetic in her own right, Skye takes to the air in her helicopter, if not with her glider-pack. The PAW Patrol can be assured that she'll be their eyes in the sky.
After she supposedly dies at the climax of PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, in which she performed a Heroic Sacrifice to save her friends and all of Adventure City, she ends up in the Space Between and under the care of Queen Poppy, who recruits her into her group of special interdimensional individuals to protect the Multiverse.
- Ascended Extra: She briefly appeared in the epilogue of The Other Side Of The Storm as a New Arrival in the Space Between. It's been said that she will play a bigger part in The Other Side Of The Storm: Part 2.
- Genki Girl: This version retains this characteristic, mostly demonstrated by her adorable little giggle-barks and tendency to perform backflips.
- Immediate Sequel: This version of Skye comes from the climax of PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, where she performed her Heroic Sacrifice.
Isabela Madrigal
The oldest daughter of Julieta and Agustín Madrigal, and the eldest of all the grandchildren in the Familia Madrigal. Her gift lets her psychically grow a wide variety of plants, mostly flowers. After a turbulent argument between her Abuela Alma and youngest hermana Mirabel results in the collapse of Casita and the subsequent death of her youngest hermana, Isabela is left devastated and regretful that she never got the chance to apologize and reconcile with her. A full year later, Mirabel herself appears alive and well, claiming to be residing in an alternate universe that exists out of space and time while...subsequently inviting them to a wedding. While caught off guard by this unexpected turn of events, she takes the invitation as a chance to reforge a bond with Mirabel.
- Big Sister Instinct: When she discovers that her youngest sister (whom she believed to be dead for a full year) is actually still alive, Isabela makes it an effort to protect Mirabel from any harm. In the fourth chapter, although she has no idea who the Party Crashers are, she immediately conjures up a pair of vines meant to protect her and the rest of the family when it becomes clear that a fight involving them is breaking out.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Just like her canon counterpart, Isabela was jealous that her young sister had no Gift to call her own; that meant she had no pressure or expectations she had to meet or become the "golden child". She ultimately grew out of this after "What Else Can I Do?" resulted in her being kinder towards Mirabel and then becoming horrified and saddened when she believes her jealousy got her killed.
- However, she leans into this again during The Other Side Of The Storm: Part 2, but this time, it is directed towards Poppy when Mirabel says the latter is not just her best friend, but like a sister to her.
- Interspecies Friendship: Downplayed. While she assumes a Troll form in the Trolls universe, Isabela (a human) strikes up a friendship with Meadow Spriggs (a Pop Troll) due to their shared interest in botany.
- Survivor's Guilt: She is revealed to be suffering from this following the death of Mirabel a year prior, which she blames herself for. When Mirabel appears before her a full year later, she initially denies it before Mirabel calms her down and says her death was not her fault.
Antonio Madrigal
The youngest son of Pepa and Félix Madrigal, who is given the gift of speaking to and understanding animals. After being left disheartened by the death of his cousin a year prior, he is overjoyed to learn Mirabel has actually been alive a year later.
- Big Sister Worship: Like in his parent film, Antonio looks up to Mirabel like an older sister, to the point where he was the most devastated/affected by her death and the most joyous when it's revealed she survived.
- Secret-Keeper: In regards to Mirabel's survival and presence, Antonio serves as this along with Abuela Alma.

Gwen Stacy
A teenaged girl who was bitten by a radioactive spider and has been fighting crime as Spider-Woman for the past two years. The daughter of a police captain, she is a successful superhero in her own right, but is nonetheless haunted by her failure to save the life of her best friend, Peter Parker. It is this failure that drives her into the arms of the Spider-Society, a large community of inter-dimensional Spider-People that she feels it is where she belongs. However, she learns that the Spider-Society refuses to let her best friend Miles Morales join, a decision attributed to the simple fact that he was never meant to be a Spider-Man to begin with. In her efforts to protect him, she only succeeds in not just betraying his trust, but also setting a chain reaction that results in the deaths of his parents, Jefferson and Rio Morales, and the villainous Spot, in addition to the collapse of his home dimension Earth-1610B. Horrified and guilt-ridden by her actions and inaction, Gwen resolves to make things right with Miles, regardless of the consequences.
- Action Girl: This is a given as her tenure as Spider-Woman and then as a (former) member of the Spider-Society.
- The Atoner: Following the deaths of Miles' parents and the collapse of his home dimension, Gwen resolves to make amends with Miles.
- Dance Battler: She shows shades of this with her fluid and supple movements reminiscent of Ballet during her fight scenes, while her shoes resemble a a pair of blue-green ballet slippers as part of her costume.
- Genre Motif: Rock, as fitting her background as a drummer. The version introduced in the third chapter of The Other Side Of The Storm: Part 2 has her transformed into a Rock Troll.
- It's All My Fault: As in Across The Spider-Verse, she regrets not telling Miles the truth about her activities with the Spider Society, as he wouldn't have tried to follow her otherwise and learned everything the hard way. In addition, she comes to blame herself for causing a chain reaction that leads to the deaths of his parents, the Spot, and the collapse of Earth-1610B.
