Coitus Ensues is supposed to be when a gratuitous sex sequence stops the plot in its tracks. However, it is most often used to refer to sex scenes in general, whether it interrupts the plot or not. A Coitus Ensues Wick Check reveals that only 14% of wicks inspected were correct, and over half the wicks just refer to general sex scenes. As of this writing, I think a rename might be sufficient to fix this, but a retool or even cutting the page entirely might be necessary. We'll just have to see.

1. FandomSpecificPlot.Pokemon - The most popular set of plot points for fics related to the anime: the characters growing/being older, and Ash is/or will become a Pokémon Master (whatever the author decides that means, usually being a Pokemon Master and being one of the Pokémon Champions is treated as basically one-in-the-same). This isn't specific to any single fic plot, but most of the fanfics tied to the anime, regardless of the broader plot, rely on the conceit that the characters can/do age. Particularly any shipping fics, because the idea of 10-year-olds hooking up (frequently followed by sex, shown or implied) is a bit much even for most hardcore shippers to accept. So it will quickly be established that time has been passing as Ash engages in his adventures and the plot will go from there. In more recent non-AU fics, which usually consider the most recent seasons, Ash and the other characters will usually be somewhere around 16-19, rather than canon-declared ten. Ash becoming a Pokemon Master is so common it's usually just a given with any fic with him as the main character. Frequently it will be a major part of the plot and his goal, other times he'll have already achieved the title.

12. Characters.Battlestar Galactica 2003 - After the producers decided to keep Helo on as a character, their first question was what to do with him. The logical answer would be to pair him up with another Eight, whom he would think was Boomer but was actually a separate instance. This Cylon, who eventually chose the call sign "Athena" had a very specific mission: the humanoid Cylons had thus far been unable to conceive biological offspring, and their theory was that The Power of Love was what was missing. Athena's job, then, was to get Helo to fall for her (and then frak her, of course). A High-Heel–Face Turn was almost inevitable. She then became the first Cylon character to openly side with the humans.

If she orders it, he'll stay and be her city watchdog, but he had sworn his sword to her service and he would gladly kill her enemies. Any enemy, anywhere. The game finally comes to a head and Daenerys decides to treat herself after what must have been a hard day's ruling over a divisive populace. With a goblet of fine red in hand, and a smoldering expression on her face, she tells him to do what he does best and he strips at her command. What follows next... Well, it's not hard to guess.

OurVampiresAreDifferent.Anime And Manga - In the one-shot yaoi manga Nosferatou Kiss, vampires are living creatures that age and reproduce just like humans, except that they enjoy sleeping in coffins for some reason, possess certain supernatural powers (like levitation), and have a taste for human blood (particularly virgin blood, because it's unlikely to have venereal disease). As children, Kura (a vampire) plays hide and seek with Shuichi (his human friend) and hides in a coffin, then Shuichi promptly loses interest in the game and walks off, completing forgetting about Kura. Kura remains lying in the coffin for a decade, apparently without needing to eat, sleep, or attend to any other bodily functions. When Shuichi returns later looking for him and opens the coffin, Kura pops out, now aged into a teenager. In a bizarre twist, Kura then demonstrates to a surprised Shuichi that vampires aren't limited to drinking their victim's blood: blowjobs work just fine too.

2. YMMV.Mobile Suit Gundam Wing - Launcher of a Thousand Ships: The North American fans seemed to have a thing for Hilde. In fanfiction, she was often portrayed as being so kinky and desireable, that all the Gundam pilots (including Zechs) wanted to bang her. The now defunct "DxH Addiction" was an entire archive dedicated to such stories, with half its lemon section being reserved for her sexual escapades with Duo. The other half was for stories about the other pilots either seducing her, or being seduced by her.

The relationship starts after the sex scene, though if you turn him down or act offended he will be initially confused but then realize that he’s in a different culture now and apologize. However, it actually does serve a purpose, as this is normal dating protocol for his culture, the logic being that it’s a way of testing how much of a potential fit they are by how mutually pleasurable it was.
4. MenageA3.Tropes A To F - Coitus Ensues: Some of the sex in the comic does come rather out of the blue — notably Kiley jumping Gary and Zii's night with Angele. However, by and large, there's a bit of foreshadowing or character consistency involved. Whether Sonya and Yuki's hate-sex was foreshadowed to the point of inevitability, or completely unpredictable, might be an interesting question.

Not only does Bright Eyes refuse to go in detail about it other than saying it happened, it's a plot point because it triggers her memories of their relationship together.

Fate/Harem Antics - Vitriolic Best Buds: An omake set in a future where Rin and Luvia are dating Shirou shows that they will tone down their rivalry to this trope, this being a Harem Genre story, by "toning down" we, of course, mean that they will force him to decide who's better than the other. In bed. At the same time.
9. Comic Book/Katmandu - Coitus Ensues: Pretty common in the comic, as many characters, beginning with Liska for the biggest serial offender of this, ends up having sex for whatever excuse. It should be noted that, unlike one would think compared with other similar works using this trope, sex is normally handled in a very tasteful, through erotic, manner and avoids being the sole driving force of the story.
