Jiwoo's house
Seo Jiwoo
The main protagonist of the webtoon. Jiwoo is an Ordinary High-School Student as well as a Kind Hearted Cat Lover. At the start of the story, he lives in fear of his unusual powers. Until a chance encounter with a stray cat opens a whole new world before him...
- The Ace: Slowly turns into this as the plot progresses. His performance at the World Awakeners Academy convinces witnesses that he has far surpassed their top 10 students. By the time he spars with the rookies of Frame, he is recognised as the strongest Awakener among his peers. Even some of the Top 10 World Rankers express surprise at Jiwoo's rapid growth, especially when it hasn't been one year since he started training.
- The Apprentice: To Kayden, one of the world's most powerful Awakeners. Since many powerful Awakeners unsuccessfully sought to become Kayden's apprentice, Jiwoo is subject to envy and resentment.
- Badass in Distress: When some criminals from Frame kidnap Jiwoo and torture him for information about Kayden's whereabouts and Force Control. When Jiwoo refuses to disclose, they shatter his core and injure his arms. Although Kayden tracks the culprits and executes them, Jiwoo remains in critical condition, unable to continue as an Awakener. Fortunately, Kartein heals Jiwoo's core and restores him to his original fighting condition.
- Blood Knight: The only trait he shares with his mentor, Kayden. Like Kayden, Jiwoo begins to challenge anyone stronger than him, even if he is exhausted.
- Boring, but Practical: Roist comments that Jiwoo's attack pattern is rather simple- just strike the opponent with super speed. But Jiwoo's overwhelming speed is difficult to endure for almost any rookie.
- Combo Platter Powers: So far, Jiwoo has Super-Speed and electricity powers. He can heal his own wounds thanks to the Force Control method he learnt from Kartein. He also gains Super-Toughness after inheriting Pluton's Force Control. A lot of Awakeners have the misconception that Jiwoo has the ability to control animals (actually Kayden and Kartein in disguise).
- Curb-Stomp Battle: He delivers this to three Frame rookies in three consecutive bouts. These rookies were among the six who crushed the top 10 students of the World Awakeners Academy.
- Determinator: He will fight stronger opponents to protect his friends. He won't refuse any challenges, no matter how dangerous, because he intends to uphold the honour of Kayden.
- Famed In-Story: The revelation that he is Kayden's apprentice made him famous in the world of Awakeners, for better or worse.
- Finishing Move: His Max Speed. Jiwoo suddenly rushes towards his opponent at maximum speed and punches them with all his power.
- Friendless Background: Having to hid his Awakened powers for most of his life, Jiwoo did not make any friends and had to change his house every year. This changes after discovering that he is an Awakener and meets other Awakeners of his age.
- Instant Expert: It doesn't take long for Jiwoo to quickly learn the basics of any new technique and employ them in actual combat. Many Awakeners express surprise at Jiwoo's rapid progress within one year. Nevertheless, he trains rigorously everyday. He still has a long way to go before he can fight a top 100 world ranker on equal terms.
- Kind Hearted Cat Lover: The first friend Jiwoo ever made was a street cat. Many years later, he makes it his hobby to feed street cats with snacks and treats. This is also how Jiwoo meets Kayden for the first time.
- Magnetic Hero: Jiwoo's kindness amidst power-hungry Awakeners makes him this. As the story progresses, many of his peers become friendly towards him for his unwavering kindness.
- Nice Guy: Jiwoo's distinguishing trait. He is friendly towards everyone and has a strong sense of morality. He is not interested in playing politics and cares about being a strong combatant.
- Shock and Awe: Gains electric attributes after practicing Kayden's Force Control.
- Super-Speed: Jiwoo's innate Awakened ability. He can move at incredible speeds for a few seconds. As he continues to train, Jiwoo is able to use his speed for extended periods in combat.
- Talented, but Trained: Jiwoo is quite talented, capable of picking up any Force Control or any other technique within minutes. However, he trains for hours everyday. Kayden trained Jiwoo to practice Force Control even in his sleep.
- Weak, but Skilled: Jiwoo's overall power does not exceed his peers, but thanks to Kayden's training, he can channel his power with maximum efficiency. Thus, he can overpower most opponents.
Kayden
One of the main protagonists of the webcomic. Kayden "Break" is one of the world's most powerful Awakeners, infamous for single-handedly destroying entire Awakened organisations and crushing any Awakener. After sustaining debilitating injuries, he is forced to transform into a fat cat. As time passes, Kayden becomes Jiwoo's master, training the youngster to become a powerful Awakener. Eventually, Kayden becomes one of the top 10 World Rankers.
- The Ace: Despite having no background, Kayden single-handedly defeated many World Rankers and crushed entire organisations. He became strong to the point that no one accepted his challenges. Even the top 10 World Rankers are wary of Kayden. Kayden has an impeccable battle sense, being able to develop techniques to efficiently channel his power and analysing the techniques of other Awakeners.
- Because You Were Nice to Me: One of the reasons he gradually accepted Jiwoo as his apprentice- the latter did not approach Kayden out of hunger for power. He was genuinely concerned for Kayden's wellbeing, and did not expect anything from him.
- Big Damn Heroes: Tends to pull these whenever Jiwoo and his friends are in trouble. He also shows up when Frame leads an assault on the World Awakeners Academy and forces Andrei. one of the top 10 World Rankers, to retreat. This earns him a lot of respect from the people he saved.
- Bishōnen: Kayden is noted to be an attractive man. He finds the attention rather annoying.
- Blood Knight: Kayden lives to fight. He trained almost every hour of the day, invented new techniques, and travelled the world, challenging any Awakener that piqued his interest. Although he has slowed down due to his injuries, it doesn't make him any less dangerous.
- Embarrassing Nickname: He goes by "Casein Nitrate" in his feline form.
- Famed In-Story: In Jiyoung's words, Kayden is a big-shot in the world of Awakeners and his name carries significant influence. He is either admired, hated, or dreaded by other Awakeners for his superior prowess in combat.
- Forced Transformation: Due to his injuries, Kayden can't maintain his human form for long and is forced to revert to his cat form.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Kayden is notorious for his short temper. However, he is pretty nice to Jiwoo and has mellowed down a bit.
- Holding Back the Phlebotinum: If Kayden ever recovered from his injuries, he would easily defeat any antagonist in the story.
- I Work Alone: Kayden staunchly refuses to work for any organisation or accept any apprentices. However, he made an exception for Jiwoo and took him as his apprentice.
- Insufferable Genius: Kayden loves to praise himself for his outstanding talent and easily succumbs to Jiwoo's flattery. For all his egotism, Kayden takes his training seriously and has far more combat experience than the top 10 World Rankers.
- Invincible Hero: Kayden has never lost a battle. That said, he got injured when he was attacked by three of the top 10 world rankers after he challenged them.
- Kind Hearted Cat Lover: Becomes one after staying at Jiwoo's place for a long time.
- The Mentor: To Jiwoo. Kayden is an effective teacher, designing new techniques to complement Jiwoo's Super-Speed.
- Mysterious Past: No one knows about Kayden's origins. According to
Word of God, Kayden does not know his own birthday. It is implied that Kayden is an orphan. - Person of Mass Destruction: As someone whose power rivals one of the top 10 world rankers, Kayden is capable of wreaking havoc with his electricity powers. Even in his weakened state, he can instantly raze an entire skyscraper with a single lightning bolt.
- One-Man Army: In the past, he single-handedly destroyed entire Awakener organisations by hunting down the top brass one-by-one.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He murdered Dran after learning that the latter tortured and crippled Jiwoo. The moment it is revealed to all that Kang Supil was the mastermind behind Jiwoo's torture, Kayden wastes no time electrocuting the wretch to death with an enormous lightning bolt.
- Shock and Awe: He made a name for electrical attribute. After witnessing Kayden's incredible prowess, many Awakeners attempted to use the electrical attribute.
- Strong and Skilled: Kayden trained himself to channel his power in the most efficient manner. It is for this reason that even the top 10 rankers are vary of Kayden. One of the rankers, Sufri, suspects that Kayden's battle sense might exceed even the top 10.
- Taught by Experience: Kayden is entirely self-taught. He never underwent formal training and he developed his own Force Control and techniques.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: With Kartein.
- Worf Had the Flu: Due to his injuries, Kayden is unable to us his full powers. However, he is still more than a match for any World Ranker.
- World's Strongest Man: Kayden is often believed to have the power of a top 10 World Ranker. When Kartein temporarily restores Kayden to his prime condition, the latter easily annihilates Astra, one of the top 10 World Rankers. In the aftermath, he becomes one of the top 10 World Rankers.
Kartein
The world's best doctor, renowned for being selective about his patients. Kartein ends up moving to South Korea and becoming fellow housemates with Kayden and Jiwoo.
- The Ace: In terms of healing ability, Kartein far surpasses the top 10 World Rankers. As the world's best doctor, he receives VIP treatment wherever he goes.
- Badass in Distress: Is held hostage by Astra, one of the top 10 World Rankers. Fortunately, Kayden arrives and electrocutes Astra to death.
- Beyond the Impossible: It is impossible to heal the broken core of an Awakener. However, Kartein managed to heal Jiwoo's core and restore the teenager to fighting condition.
- Casting a Shadow: Kartein possesses a second Force Control Method, which lets him manifest giant bat wings of dark and purple energy. He tends to sneakily kill opponents by summoning an abyss beneath their feet. He killed the traitorous Professor Andrea when she attempted to kill Jiwoo.
- Dork Knight: He is a top 50 world ranker and the world's best doctor. He is also obsessed with being a cat and researching the transformation technique.
- Healing Hands: Kartein's signature ability. He honed his healing skills to such an extent that he far surpasses the top 10 rankers in that regard. Many prominent Awakeners would do anything to access his exclusive skills.
- Insufferable Genius: Like Kayden, Kartein loves to praise himself for his outstanding talent. Kayden often exploits Kartein's ego and dupes him into doing whatever he wants.
- Kind Hearted Cat Lover: Becomes teary eyed at the thought of leaving Jiwoo's house because he has grown fond of the cats.
- Logical Weakness: The reason Kartein is so selective about his patients is because his healing powers leave him vulnerable for a while. This would make him an easy target for dangerous Awakeners.
- Minored in Ass-Kicking: Kartein specialises in the medical field, but he is certainly no slouch when it comes to fighting. He prefers to keep his combat abilities hidden.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: With Kayden.
- World's Most Handsome Man: Kartein is officially ranked #1 among best-looking Awakeners.
Pluton
The newest member to move into Seo Jiwoo's house. Pluton is one of the top 50 World Rankers and a rival of Kayden. His durability is rumoured to exceed that of even the world's top 10 Awakeners. Although Pluton intends to defeat Kayden, he chooses to protect his rival instead so that the latter can fully recover from his injuries.
- Badass Boast: Boasts that there is no one better than him in terms of defence. He is right...
- Bait-and-Switch: At first, Pluton seems to be another rival who harbours a grudge against Kayden. Instead, he offers to protect Jiwoo and Kayden until the latter returns to his prime condition. Kayden accepts Pluton's offer.
- Because You Were Nice to Me: One of Pluton's reasons for passing his Force Control to Jiwoo.
- The Big Guy: Pluton has a massive stature compared to Kayden or Kartein.
- Blood Knight: Pluton goes around challenging Awakeners, but not to the same extent as Kayden.
- Bodyguarding a Badass: He is the self-appointed guardian of Kayden and Jiwoo. He intends to keep rival Awakeners at bay so that Kayden can gradually return to his prime, and Pluton can fight Kayden on fair terms.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Pluton has a strange opinion that Kayden admires him but chose to avoid fighting him out of fear. The truth is Pluton used to unilaterally decide the date and place of the duel without Kayden's knowledge. Kayden himself gets pissed on hearing Pluton's claims and electrocutes him- although Pluton shrugs it off.
- Honor Before Reason: In a world where Awakeners would stoop to underhanded means to secure any advantage, Pluton maintains a sense of honor. Although he intends to defeat Kayden in a duel, he does not wish to take advantage of Kayden's injuries. What Pluton desires is a perfect victory over Kayden, and will not tolerate any other Awakener trying to get in the way of his ambition. For that reason, Pluton chooses to protect Kayden and Jiwoo.
- No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: Pluton's ambition is to score a perfect victory against Kayden. He won't challenge Kayden when the latter is injured.
- Personality Powers: After learning Kayden's transformation technique, Pluton can turn into a small-legged dog. Pluton's personality is as straightforward as a dog. He protects Jiwoo's house. He is often at odds with Kayden and Kartein, who can turn into cats.
- Super-Toughness: Pluton is rumoured to possess the most durable body known to Awakeners. He can easily shrug off a direct attack from Kayden (although Kayden was severely exhausted from his fight with Astra at that time.)
Shinhwa
The most powerful Awakener's organisation in South Korea. Its members specialise in wind powers. Yoo Jiyoung
The young chairwoman of Shinhwa and the strongest Awakener in South Korea. She is the elder sister of Yoo Jisuk. Jiyoung is Jiwoo's sponsor to help him adjust being an Awakener,
- The Ace: She is hailed as an outstanding prodigy who became the #1 Awakener of South Korea at a young age. Even Kayden and Kartein acknowledge her strength. Jiyoung defeated many international rankers who challenged her and her strength is said to be on par with the top 50 world rankers.
- Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Yoo Jiyoung is a reserved and dignified young lady with many admirers.
- Big Good: She strives to be this, as the strongest Awakener of South Korea.
- Blow You Away: She specialises in wind powers.
- Kuudere: Despite her cold and reserved demeanour, Jiyoung tends to blush whenever Jiwoo starts complimenting her.
- Lady of War: Yoo Jiyoung is drop-dead gorgeous and is one of the most powerful Awakeners in the world.
- The Mentor: She sometimes spars with Jiwoo to train him for upcoming battles.
- Rank Scales with Asskicking: She is the chairwoman of Shinhwa, as well as its most powerful member. Although she hasn't officially entered the world rankings, her strength is said to be on par with the top 50 world rankers. Jiyoung personally defeated Vatore and Gain, two of the top 50 world rankers.
- Young and in Charge: Kayden comments that Jiyoung is only a few years older than Jiwoo and she is already at such a high position. It is revealed that Jiyoung became the leader of Shinhwa at an early age when she and Jisuk were orphaned.
Yoo Jisuk
Jiyoung's younger brother, and one of the most talented Awakeners of his generation. He is one of Jiwoo's best friends alongside Subin and Wooin.
- Absurd Phobia: Jisuk is terrified of Jiwoo's pets, which can talk (actually Kayden, Kartein, and Pluton in disguise.)
- The Ace: While not as talented as his sister, Jisuk is strong for his age. His prowess is at least on par with one of the top 10 students of the World Awakeners Academy.
- Blow You Away: Like all members of Shinhwa, Jisuk specialises in wind powers.
- The Gadfly: Loves to tease Jiyoung and Subin, which subjects him to hilarious beatdowns.
- Kind Hearted Cat Lover: He adopts Jiwoo's hobby of feeding stray cats. However, Jisuk is convinced that he can discover an Awakened cat like Jiwoo''s Casein Nitrate.
- My Sister Is Off-Limits: He becomes furious at the idea of Jiyoung marrying Jurion Patrick and claims that she is dating Jiwoo.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: With Lee Subin. It is a Running Gag for Jisuk to pick fights with her.
Goo Inhyuk
A high ranking Awakener of Shinhwa and Jiyoung's right hand man.
- Blow You Away: As a member of Shinhwa, he has wind-based powers.
- Dork Knight: Goo Inhyuk is one of the top 20 rankers of South Korea. He is also obsessed with cats, forming silly leaps of logic regarding them.
- The Gadfly: Often pokes fun at Park Seongha of the Union.
- Kind Hearted Cat Lover: He is obsessed with cats.
- Nice Guy: He was genuinely concerned for Jiwoo, back when the latter had just discovered that he was an Awakener.
Baekdu
One of the prominent Awakener's organisations in South Korea. Its members specialise in controlling gravity. Kang Dusik
The former head of Baekdu and one of the top 50 world rankers alongside Han Seongik.
- Asshole Victim: He tortured Jiwoo after accusing him of being a spy (without any evidence). Kayden murders Dusik when the latter conspired to leak information about him and Jiwoo.
- Bullying a Dragon: Attempted to screw over Kayden. It didn't end well...
- Evil Old Folks: He is a nasty jerk. He doesn't bother learning the name of his grandson and tries to murder Jiwoo when the latter refused to join Baekdu. He is also a snob who looks down on unaffiliated Awakeners.
- Join or Die: Attempts to recruit Jiwoo after the latter defeated Sucheon. When Jiwoo refuses, Dusik attempts to crush him to death. Fortunately, Kayden appears.
- Like Father, Like Son: Dusik and his son, Supil, are abusive jerks who just don't know when to stop. Both of them are killed by Kayden.
Kang Supil
Kang Dusik's eldest son, Sucheon's father, and the chairman of Baekdu. Until his brother, Suman takes over.
- Abusive Parents: He is cruel towards his only son, Sucheon, who is afraid of disappointing his father. Upon learning that Sucheon lost to Jiwoo, Supil is livid and subjects Sucheon to abusive training.
- Bullying a Dragon: He was already on bad terms with Kayden, but he went too far when he helped criminals from Frame enter South Korea and have Jiwoo's core crippled. Kayden electrocutes Supil to death, while Kartein restores Jiwoo back to his fighting condition.
- Cain and Abel: The Cain to his younger brother, Suman.
- Kick the Dog: After witnessing Sucheon lose to Jiwoo in a rematch, Supil leaks information about Kayden and Jiwoo to criminal Awakeners. He is all too happy upon learning that Jiwoo's core was crippled.
- Too Dumb to Live: Provoking Kayden, who is infamous for wiping out entire Awakener organisations and someone whose power rivals the top 10 World Rankers.
Kang Suman
The younger brother of Kang Supil and the vice chairman of Baekdu. He takes over as the chairman after Kayden murdered Supil.
- Big Damn Heroes: Suman was the first to locate Jiwoo and rescue him from Dran and Amyeong.
- Cain and Abel: The Abel to Supil's Cain.
- Defector from Decadence: Suman finally rebels against his brother, Supil, when the latter went too far by collaborating with criminals to undermine rival Awakener groups in South Korea. He exposes Supil to other Awakener groups. Suman doesn't bear a grudge against Kayden for killing his brother.
- Klingon Promotion: Becomes the chairman of Baekdu after Supil's death.
- Nice Guy: Suman is one of the nicest Awakeners around, ready to lend a helping hand. Even after Baekdu's reputation drops due to Supil's crimes, Suman's good attitude causes Jiyoung to fight Vatore on his behalf.
- Parental Substitute: Becomes one to his nephew, Sucheon, after Supil was killed by Kayden. As a parental figure, Suman is better than Supil ever was.
- White Sheep: The only good-natured person of his family.
Kang Sucheon
The son of Kang Supil and the student representative of Baekdu.
- The Ace: He is a member of the Four (the four prominent South Korean Awakeners of the young generation), alongside Shinhwa's Yoo Jisuk, the Union's Lee Subin, and Baekho's Choi Gangseok.
- Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He mercilessly bullies unaffiliated Awakeners. He doesn't take it kindly after he loses to Seo Jiwoo, twice.
- Butt-Monkey: After losing twice to Jiwoo, Sucheon becomes the butt of Jisuk and Subin's jokes.
- Gravity Master: Like all members of Baekdu, he specialises in controlling gravity.
- Jerkass: He takes sadistic pleasure in tormenting opponents.
- Perpetual Frowner: Always has a scowl on his face.
- The Rival: Is envious of Jiwoo's progress and works hard to catch up. That said, Sucheon no longer antagonises Jiwoo.
- Token Evil Teammate: Played for Laughs. Jisuk and Subin tease Sucheon, calling him a villain.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Sucheon desperately seeks the approval of his father and fears disappointing him.
The Awakener's Union
A South Korean organisation on par with Shinhwa. Its members specialise in generating and controlling ice The President
The leader of the Union and Lee Subin's grandfather.
- My Greatest Failure: Blames himself for not being strong enough to protect his children from traitors.
- Outliving One's Offspring: His children died when they were backstabbed by traitors who were promised a powerful Force Control. Since then, he has been raising his only granddaughter.
- Took A Level In Cynicism: The deaths of his children at the hands of their trusted friends caused the president to become cynical about friendships. However, he changes his view after he received thorough medical treatment thanks to the efforts of Subin's friends.
- Your Days Are Numbered: He has only three years left due to sustaining life-threatening injuries. This is no longer the case after he receives medical treatment from Dr. Delein and Kartein.
Lee Subin
The granddaughter of the President of the Union and one of the most talented Awakeners of South Korea's young generation.
- The Ace: One of the four rising prodigies among South Korea's young generation of Awakeners, alongside Yoo Jisuk, Choi Gangseok, and Kang Sucheon. She excels in academics as well.
- Broken Tears: She starts crying after learning that her grandfather, her only family, has only a few years left to live. Fortunately, this is no longer the case after Kartein treats her grandfather.
- Precocious Crush: She develops one on Kayden and Kartein, daydreaming about romancing such handsome men. Jisuk is grossed out.
- Raised by Grandparents: Subin lost her parents at a young age. Since then, she has been raised by her grandfather and trained by employees of the Union.
- Tomboy: She has short hair, has many piercings in her ears and lower lip, and excels in fighting.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: It is a Running Gag for her to pick fights with Jisuk.
Park Seongha
A high-ranking member of the Union.
- Absurd Phobia: He is nervous around cats.
- Sitcom Archnemesis: With Inhyuk.
- Stronger Than They Look: Park Seongha is implied to be as strong as a top 100 world ranker.
Korean Awakened Academy
A newly-established educational facility to train young Awakeners in South Korea. Han Seongik
The principal of the academy. He used to be the #1 Awakener of South Korea until he retired from Baekho and ceded his position as Korea's top Awakener to Yoo Jiyoung.
- Badass in a Nice Suit: He is usually seen wearing an immaculate grey suit over a white shirt.
- Stronger with Age: Old age and retirement hasn't slowed him down. Han Seongik reveals that he retired to focus on his training, while Kayden remarks that the principal has become stronger than before.
- The Mentor: He trained the current chairman of Baekho. Later, upon noticing Jiwoo's growth, Han Seongik teaches him a force control method he developed on his own to help the youngster hone his close combat technique.
- Noodle Incident: He once fought Kayden. Although the outcome is unclear, Han Seongik was impressed by Kayden's prowess and decided to retire to become even stronger.
Other Unaffiliated Awakeners
Dr. Delein
A sinister professor who is kept in custody of the Awakener's Union. He is Wooin's foster father and mentor.
- Characterization Marches On: Dr. Delein is introduced as a nasty scientist who conducts harmful experiments on cats. He would hit Wooin sometimes whenever he lost his temper. After his capture, Dr. Delein becomes more subdued in personality, and is often seen encouraging Wooin in his journey as an Awakener.
- Healing Hands: Delein is proficient in Telekinesis, and healing isn't even his speciality. Yet, he is regarded as one of the best doctors in the world due to a lifetime of research. Even Kartein acknowledges Delein's medical expertise.
- Hidden Depths: Delein's daughter was not an Awakener and she died due to a disease. Believing that his daughter could have survived had she been an Awakener, Delein conducted experiments for artificial Awakening. Though he wasn't successful in the end, Delein acquired extensive medical expertise due to years of research.
- He treated Jiwoo's arms and restored their function when he was persuaded by Wooin. He also treated Subin's grandfather at Wooin's request.
- Morality Pet: Although Dr. Delein is not the ideal parental figure, he genuinely cares for his foster son, Wooin.
- Parental Substitute: He adopted Wooin after discovering that the child was an Awakener and trained him to perform telekinesis.
Wooin
Dr. Delein's apprentice and the classmate of Jiwoo and Jisuk. The Awakened Union sponsored him after they arrested Dr. Delein.
- The Ace: Having been systematically trained by Dr. Delein since childhood, Wooin is proficient in performing Telekinesis. Many instructors at the Korean Awakener Academy are astonished by Wooin's fighting capabilities despite being an unaffiliated Awakener.
- Best Friend: With Jiwoo, Jisuk, and Subin.
- Kind Hearted Cat Lover: He used to secretly set cats free by faking their deaths to save them from Dr. Delein's experiments. After Delein's arrest, Wooin often feeds stray cats along with Jiwoo and Jisuk.
- The Stoic: Wooin rarely shows emotions.

Vatore
A top 50 world ranker. Vatore holds a grudge against Kayden for scarring his face.
- The Fighting Narcissist: He is proud of his good-looks and sense of fashion. It is also the reason why he hates Kayden when the latter put a scar on his face.
- Hypocrite: Vatore challenged Kayden upon learning that he was injured. After losing to Jiyoung, Vatore expects that Kayden wouldn't take advantage of his injured condition.
- Oh, Crap!: After realizing that Jiyoung's strength is on the level of a top 50 world ranker.
- Scars Are Forever: After his loss against Kayden, there is a large scar that runs across the left side of Vatore's face. Vatore attempts to convince Kartein to heal his scar but the latter turns him down.
World Awakeners Academy
An international educational facility for training young Awakeners from prestigious families and organisations. It is run by the World Awakened Union and has a long history. The campus is situated in an undisclosed country. Arthur Bryan
An up-and-coming Awakener from the Bryan family, one of the world's most prestigious Awakened families. He is considered to be one of the best rookies of the younger generation.
- The Ace: Is one of the top 10 students of the World Awakeners Academy.
- An Arm and a Leg: He loses his right arm during his fight against Duke.
- The Bully: Like all his fellow classmates, Arthur makes unpleasant remarks about the Korean Awakened Academy in an attempt to provoke the students. He and his friends lynch the unaffiliated Korean students.
- Only Friend: After Jiwoo, Wooin, Jisuk, Subin, Gangseok, and Sucheon arrive at the World Awakened Academy as guests, Arthur is the only one who is friendly towards them.
Duke Grane (Spoilers)
A prodigy of the Grane family and one of the strongest students at the World Awakened Academy, one of the top 10 students.
- Beam Spam: His main ability is emitting energy beams that impale opponents. After betraying the Academy, he switches to Schnauder's ability to lacerate the enemy with energy beams.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Duke appears to be a friendly and soft-spoken guy at first. He begins to show his true colours after he betrayed the academy and joined Frame.
- Cheaters Never Prosper: He cheated during his third fight against Jiwoo, and still lost.
- Dirty Coward: Roist accuses Duke of this, chiding him for attempting exploit Jiwoo's exhausted condition.
- Double Agent: He joined Frame five years ago, but it was only after their assault that he openly betrayed the World Awakened Academy and formally joined the other organisation. Duke wanted to be trained by Schnauder, one of the top 10 world rankers.
- Evil Gloating: Duke starts gloating when he has an injured Jiwoo at his mercy and beats him mercilessly. Unfortunately for him, Jiwoo catches him off-guard and beats him, winning the bout.
- In the Back: He stabs Cain Luterain in the back to avoid being exposed as a traitor. Unfortunately, Jiwoo discovers Duke's treachery and the latter flees.
- Karmic Butt-Monkey: Duke gave up his positions in the prestigious Grane family and the World Awakeners Academy to become the apprentice of Frame's Schnauder, one of the top 10 world rankers. He literally backstabbed one of his friends and betrayed all his other friends in the top 10 by leaking their information to Frame's rookies. However, Schnauder does not care for him, and his senior, Roist, views him as an embarrassment. Duke loses to a weakened Jiwoo in front of the Frame rookies despite cheating. To further rub salt in the wound, the Frame rookies cheer for Jiwoo instead of Duke. Roist respects Jiwoo, while Schnauder deems him to be far more talented than Duke.
- The Paragon Always Rebels: Duke was the rising prodigy of the Grane family and one of the top 10 strongest students of the World Awakened Academy. He betrayed the Academy to join Frame and leaked all the secrets of the other top 10 students to the rookies. Subsequently, the top 10 students miserably lost to Frame, with many of them crippled and one of them dead.
- The Rival: To Jiwoo.
- Sore Loser: He does not take his losses against Jiwoo well.
- Super-Speed: His secondary power he gained after training. However, it is not as good as Jiwoo's speed.
Frame
An international criminal Awakeners organisation that is at odds with the World Awakeners Union. It is said that the Frame subjects its rookies to a merciless training regime and very few survive the training. Andrei
One of the top 10 world rankers.
- Dirty Coward: He won't hesitate to use underhanded tricks to bring down Kayden. Yet, he fled both times when he faced Kayden in combat.
- Space Master: One of Andrei's moves is spatial distortion.
- Would Hurt a Child: He tortured Jiwoo until Kayden intervened.
Schnauder
One of the top 10 world rankers. He is the mentor of Roist and Duke Grane.
- Absurd Cutting Power: Schnauder specialises in long-ranged attacks aimed to lacerate his opponents.
- The Big Guy: He is a tall and muscular man.
- Cruel Mercy: He decides not to kill Duke because he deems Jiwoo to be inherently more gifted than his apprentice.
- Rugged Scar: He has many on his body and face.
Suffrey Basseterre
One of the top 10 world rankers. Her apprentice is Muse.
- Women Are Wiser: Among the three strongest rankers of Frame, Suffrey is the most rational and cautious member. She is the only one who recognises the threat of provoking Kayden.
Earthquake
One of the top 50 world rankers and an underling of Andrei.
- An Arm and a Leg: Loses his right arm to Kayden.
- Asshole Victim: He kept bullying Jiwoo and went as far as to sabotage his fight with Duke. He even instigated Duke to frame Jiwoo for murder. Kayden purposely targets Earthquake during his fight with Andrei. While everyone is busy watching Kayden and Andrei's battle, Kartein takes the opportunity to sneakily finish off a barely conscious Earthquake.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: When Kayden fights Andrei, he intentionally strikes Earthquake with lightning, twice. The first attack cuts off Earthquake's right arm, while the second attack electrocutes him, rendering the Awakener unconscious. Then Kartein, the world's best doctor of all people, makes him disappear.
