There are multiple work pages for fanfics that exhibit several problems. These issues tend to be glossed over and go unfixed for long periods of time. While this problem is also present with works pages for official works and not just fan-made content, it tends to get glossed over more with fanfics due to them appealing to a smaller niche compared to the wider audiences that official works have. Many of these issues include:
- Zero-Context Examples
- Grammar, ranging from spelling to punctuation
- Namespace, which is often used as FanFic, not the more appropriate Fanfic

Thanks for making this thread. A problem page I've noticed recently is Pokémon Black & White: Tale of a Legend; it has an issue with Zero-Context Examples, Example Indentation, as well as a miscapitalized namespace.
Also, the page got edited to claim that birds are dinosaurs to fit as an example of Everythings Better With Dinosaurs, which I feel is clear misuse, but changing it back would count as an edit war so I'd like to get feedback before doing anything to that example.

Yes, it's misuse. Standard issue dinosaurs are required for that trope. Birds, while technically dinosaurs, are not considered standard issue by most people. They also aren't used in the same capacity dinosaurs would be used in.
How sweet it is
I was going to fix up the funny page, but it was an unreadable mess of grammar and spelling, so had to give it a cut.
If anyone wants to fix it up, the folder below has the old contents. Get your Notepad program or anything similar ready just in case.

A common problem with fanfiction works is the lack of custom titles. And very often, the basic WikiWords under which they were created is wrong (hence the number of them in Pages In Accidentally Miscapitalised Namespaces).

Found one fanfic page that really needs a clean-up. The Death Note fanfic, Shadow Of The Valley, besides the namespace issue, is riddled with Zero-context examples. It also hasn't been updated or looked at in seven months. I'm not sure how to fix the namespace issue, but I think I could start going over and correcting the ZCE issue.
I've taken a crack at commenting out all the ZCEs, and made a sandbox for the page for when we cut and remake it with correct capitalization. It's at Sandbox.Shadow Of The Valley; feedback is welcome.

I've made Sandbox.Pokemon Blackand White Taleofa Legend and commented out all the ZCEs that I could see. To correct the capitalization on the fanfic page, is just cutting the fanfic page alone and recreating it with the correct capitalization enough? Or do I also need to do the same with the subpages?
Alright, I started adding some context to the tropes in the Sandbox.Shadow Of The Valley page. To fix the namespace issue, would it be a good idea to transfer all tropes to a sandbox, send the current version of the page to a cut-list, and recreate the page with the right namespace and re-add all the tropes from the sandbox to the new version?

StarKitsProphcy isn't too bad all things considered, but I had to comment out some ZCEs (and added some context to one) that, after checking the edit history, somehow weren't taken care of a long time ago. Plus it's also got the FanFic namespace problem

I set up a Sandbox page for StarKitsProphcy here. I'm not clear on how to fic the namespace issue, but I think making a sandbox for the page and relocating the tropes to it, then adding the original page to a cutlist might be a starting point. The page can then be remade with the proper namespace afterward.

I was going to zero out the ZCE tropes, but then I noticed that it would have left one trope at minimum, maybe two at best. I created a sandbox page for it so that it can be worked on.
Meanwhile, I'm going to add the main tropes page to a cutlist.
I've started work on Sandbox.Imperfect Metamorphosis, but it still needs a lot of work- that page is huge, and a good amount of the tropes seem to be misuse or speculative.
Alright, I've finished work on Sandbox.Imperfect Metamorphosis. Per the 3-day rule, if no one has any comments in 3 days I'm going to replace the content at Fanfic.Imperfect Metamorphosis with it. In the meantime, I'm going to take a look at the subpages.

I just checked the page. So long as it has three legitimate tropes, then the page can stay. However, it also has the namespace issue of FanFic rather than Fanfic. I'd recommend making a sandbox for it and transferring all tropes. Then delete the original page and work on the sandbox to fix the issues.

Reviving this to discuss To Trope or Not to Trope. The reviews section alone will tell you how divisive it is, and there's some obvious issues:
- The main trope page has some context and indentation issues, which is normal but only the tip of the iceberg.
- A majority of the Trivia page is just natter defending the Author, even wicking to Fan Dumb. I sent both tropes a natter PM, but time will tell if it helps.
- The YMMV page calls some things "downplayed" and "zigzagged" and doesn't really explain much about how tropes/reactions actually manifest and why.
In general though the main problem seems to be everyone focusing solely on the fact that it's an Anti-Tony, Pro-Steve fic, which is literally the one thing that keeps getting repeated everywhere. IDK about the series, but I feel like there needs to be something else to talk about... IDK. Judging by the reviews and the natter and stuff, I feel like this page might be a ticking time bomb.

The purpose of this thread will be to bring these issues forth, discuss how to fix them, and clean-up the pages so that they are more in line with the policies and rules of the wiki.
