  • In All the President's Men, the reporters Woodward and Bernstein are in one scene called "Woodstein".
  • Barbie:
    • Those who ship Barbie and Gloria tend to call them "Glorbie" or "Glarbie".
    • In the Friendly Fandoms between Barbie and Oppenheimer, on top of being a portmanteau title for the film, many fans also use "Barbenheimer" for the Crossover Ship between Barbie and Oppenheimer.
  • In The Bourne Series fandom, there's "Nicson" for Jason Bourne and Nicky Parsons.
  • Camp Rock: Canon pairings Shane/Mitchie and Dana/Nate are called "Smitchie" and "Date" respectively. There are also non-canon ones like "Naitlyn" (Nate/Caitlyn), "Nitchie" (Nate/Mitchie), and "Maitlyn" (Mitchie/Caitlyn). There are also the crossover ones with Wizards of Waverly Place such as "Malex" (Mitchie/Alex Russo) and "Nalex" (Nate/Alex).
  • Carol: Carese or Belivaird for the Official Couple of Carol/Therese. Belivaird, based on their last names, is the more common of the two.
  • Among the fandom for Cinderella (2015), the pairing between Ella and Prince Kit is called "Kitella".
  • DC Extended Universe: There are of course the ones brought over from the comics, like SuperBat for Clark/Bruce, Clois for Clark/Lois, and WonderBat for Diana/Bruce. However, there’s also WonderTrev for Diana/Steve, Vicroman or Zsaszmask for Victor Zsasz/Roman Sionis, WonderCheetah for Diana/Barbara, and Flashborg for Barry/Victor Stone.
  • Descendants 3 has a canon example with Jane and Carlos: for her birthday, Carlos gives her a necklace that reads "Jarlos", and she loves it.
  • The Devil Wears Prada has Mirandy (Miranda/Andy) for the lead character and her boss. There is also Seremily (Serena/Emily).
  • Do Revenge:
    • Shippers on Tumblr have taken to referring to the Eleanor/Drea ship as "Dreanor" or "Dreleanor".
    • "Gabbinor" for Gabbi/Eleanor.
  • Enola Holmes: The Enola Holmes/Viscount Tewkesbury ship is called "Holmesbury" by fans.
  • J. K. Rowling herself came up with ship names for the two main couples of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: 'Newtina' for Newt Scamander/Porpentina "Tina" Goldstein, and 'Jaqueenie' for Jacob Kowalski/Queenie Goldstein.
  • For a Few Dollars More: Manco/Mortimer = Mancomer, which is rather on the nose.
  • Ghostbusters:
  • The Good, the Bad and the Ugly gives us the twisted Foe Yay Shipping that is "Blonco" for Blondie/Tuco.
  • Harry Potter actors Evanna Lynch and Chris Rankin had a twitter thread where they reflected that the ship name for Luna Lovegood/Percy Weasley would be "Lunacy".
  • High School Musical: Troyella (Troy Bolton/Gabriella Montez), Ryella (Ryan Evans/Gabriella Montez), Chyan (Chad/Ryan) and Troypay (Troy Bolton/Sharpay Evans).
  • The Hobbit:
    • A heartwarming moment between Bilbo and Thorin, involving a Man Hug and the sentence "I have never been so wrong in all my life," spawned a veritable army of Thorin/Bilbo fangirls who immediately dubbed the pairing "Thilbo", "Bagginshield", or, most properly, "Thilbo Bagginshield".
    • Since Sherlock and The Hobbit have two leading actors in common, and since those actors' characters on Sherlock are commonly shipped together, "Smaugbo" (Bilbo/Smaug) is also a disturbingly common ship.
    • Kili/Tauriel has the portmanteau name of "Kiliel".
  • It (2017): The popular pairing of Richie/Eddie is known as "Reddie".
  • Jack the Giant Slayer has the highly clever name of "Elmonterey Jack" for Jack/Elmont.
  • The Legend of Johnny Lingo has a song titled "Tamahana" (Tama/Mahana) by Te Vaka.
  • Mad Max: Fury Road has "Maxiosa" for Max/Furiosa and "Nuxable" for Nux/Capable, the two biggest ships in the fandom.
  • Maleficent has the name "Maleval" for Maleficent/Diaval and "Malora" for Maleficent/Aurora, respectively.
  • Marvel Cinematic Universe: In addition to the standard sorts of examples of this trope that are comprised of the various characters' civilian identities and actual names, the fandom has a large number of alternate ship names based off of the heroes' superhero callsigns or some other distinguishing feature.
    • Fans have come up with three nicknames for the Clint Barton (Hawkeye)/Natasha Romanov (Black Widow) pairing: Clintasha, BlackEye, and BlackHawk.
    • The Thor films have Lokane for Loki/Jane, Larcy for Loki/Darcy, Thorki for Loki/Thor, and TaserTricks for Darcy Lewis/Loki. Thor: Ragnarok added Frostmaster for Loki/the Grandmaster, Thorkyrie for Thor/Valkyrie, and Valoki/Valki/Lokyrie for Valkyrie/Loki.
    • The Captain America films have Steggy for Steve/Peggy, Stony for Steve/Tony, Stucky for Steve/Bucky, Romanogers for Steve/Natasha (based on their last names), Captain Falcon or FreeBird for Steve/Sam, and WinterFalcon for Bucky/Sam.
    • The Tony/Pepper pairing in the Iron Man films is dubbed "Pepperony". Adding Steve turns it into "Pepperstony" and adding Bruce instead turns it into "Dr. Pepperony" instead (from "Dr. Pepper" for Bruce/Pepper).
    • Some threesomes get awesome names: Tony/Steve/Bruce is known as the Stark Spangled Banner, and Loki/Pepper/Tony as Froz3nPizza (based on Loki's frost giant heritage and Pepper/Tony's "Pepperony" ship name).
    • The introduction of Black Panther brought with it "T'Chucky" or "Winter Panther" (T'Challa/Bucky), "Nat'challa" (T'Challa/Natasha), and "T'Cham" (T'Challa/Sam).
    • Guardians of the Galaxy: "Starmora" for Peter Quill/Star-Lord and Gamora and "Meredu" for Meredith Quill and Yondu (which mind you, not only do they never interact in canon, she has died of cancer before Yondu even enters the story).
    • Spider-Man: Homecoming: "Spideychelle" for Peter Parker and Michelle "MJ" Jones.
    • Avengers: Infinity War: IronStrange for Tony Stark/Dr. Strange.
    • Ant-Man and the Wasp: "Langdyne" or "Scope" for Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne. "Van Dang" is also seen.
    • Captain Marvel (2019): "Danbeau" for Carol Danvers and Maria Rambeau, and Valkarol for Valkyrie and Carol Danvers, who have yet to interact.
    • When it became apparent to the fandom that in the comics, Bucky interacts with way more Marvel superheroes than he gets to in the MCU and under friendlier circumstances, several kink memes gave birth to a lot of pairings involving Bucky, each with their own superhero callsign-based combination name. Examples include WinterIron (Bucky/Tony), WinterWidow (Bucky/Natasha), WinterHawk (Bucky/Clint), WinterHulk (Bucky/Bruce), and so on.
  • The Matrix has "Neotrin" for Official Couple Neo and Trinity, though "Trineo" also shows up sometimes.
  • Mission: Impossible Film Series fans like to refer to Ethan Hunt and his team's tech expert, Benji Dunn, collectively as "Benthan" on sites like Tumblr.
  • Legendary's MonsterVerse (and possibly the wider Godzilla franchise) has apparently resulted in Mothzilla or MosuGoji for Godzilla/Mothra, and Rodorah for Rodan/King Ghidorah.
  • Night at the Museum:
    • Fans like to refer to the Jedediah/Octavius ship as "Jedtavius".
    • Fans refer to the relationship between Larry Daley and Amelia Earhart as "LarMelia".
  • Pirates of the Caribbean has Willabeth (Will/Elizabeth), Sparrabeth (Jack/Elizabeth), Barbossabeth(Barbossa/Elizabeth). Sparbossa (Jack/Barbossa), Sparrington (Jack/Norrington), Norribeth (Norrington/Elizabeth), Davybeth (Davy Jones/Elizabeth), Beckabeth (Elizabeth/Beckett), Dalypso (Davy Jones/Calypso), Speckett (Jack/Beckett), Turrowton (Jack/Will/James), Meckett (Mercer/Beckett), Sparrangelica (Jack/Angelica), and Gillington (Norrington/Lt. Gillette), Beckington (Beckett/Norrington), and Turrow (Jack/Will).
    • There's a fanfic out there that refers to Will/Jack as "a Blirate" (blacksmith/pirate). If Jack was shipped with Will and Elizabeth, would that make him a Birate?
    • One of the few relatively common ships from back in the day that didn't have a portmanteau name was Groves/Gillette, Norrington's Those Two Guys, who got paired up in the background of a lot of Sparrington fics.
  • "Dastamina" refers to the pairing of Prince Dastan and Princess Tamina in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
  • "Pavigi" has already popped up for Pavi/Luigi in the Repo! The Genetic Opera fandom, not to mention "Grilo" (Graverobber/Shilo) and Shathan (Shilo/Nathan).
  • Resident Evil Film Series has "Clairice" or "Aberfield" for Claire Redfield/Alice Abernathy. Some fans combine them into "Clairice Aberfield".
  • Fans of The School for Good and Evil (2022) who ship Professor Dovey and Lady Lesso together on Tumblr, quickly took to calling them a combination of their last names, "Dovesso".
  • The Scream franchise has a bunch of these all the way back to the 1996 original. There's "Stuilly" for Stu/Billy, "Sidly" for Sidney/Billy, and "Gewey" for Gale/Dewey, which are the most popular ones overall. The 2022 film also introduces a new one in the form of "Tamber" for Tara/Amber.
  • Star Wars:
    • The original trilogy has "Skysolo" for Luke Skywalker/Han Solo.
    • The prequel trilogy has "Anidala" (Anakin/Padme Amidala) and "Obidala" (Obi-Wan/Padme Amidala).
    • The sequel trilogy has "Finnrey" for Finn/Rey, "Reylo" for Kylo/Rey, "Kylux" for Kylo/Hux, "Reyux" for Rey/Hux, "Reylux" for Rey/Kylo/Hux, "Finnrose" for Finn/Rose, and "Damerey" for Poe Dameron/Rey.
  • Happens In-Universe in Stingray Sam after two male scientists invent Homosexual Reproduction. This leads to yet another Big-Lipped Alligator Moment from our heroes, as they sing of this miraculous invention and all the ensuing names.
    Fredrick and Edward had a son named Fredward, Max and Clark had a son named Mark, Aldo and Rex had a son named Alex, Bob and Ringo had a son named Bingo, Zack and Deke had a son named Zeke...
  • Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street: Sweenett, Toddett, and Todvet for Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett. Yes, it exists. So does Swucy for Sweeney and Lucy, and Tobett for Toby and Mrs. Lovett.
  • Victor Frankenstein: "Igorstein" for Igor/Victor.
  • X-Men Film Series:
    • "Rogan" for Rogue/Logan, by far the most popular pairing of the original trilogy.
    • X-Men: First Class:
      • After its release, there was a deluge—or tsunami, if you prefer—of "Cherik" (Charles/Erik) fanfics, to the point where it would be impossible to read every one of them in a single lifetime. It even managed to supplant "Rogan" as the favourite couple of the film series—just look at the difference in the sheer number of stories on Archive of Our Own for proof.
      • "Beastique" for Beast/Mystique.
    • X-Men: Days of Future Past:
      • There has been a small, but noticeable increase in "Xavierine" (Xavier/Wolverine) shippers thanks to James McAvoy and Hugh Jackman sharing a lot of screentime together. It's a Mentor Ship that works both ways because Logan counsels the younger Charles in this movie, but Professor X is Wolverine's mentor in the original trilogy.
      • One doesn't even have to choose between Cherik and Xavierine; there is "Cherigan" for Charles/Erik/Logan.
    • X-Men: Apocalypse:
      • "Charpocalypse" for Charles/Apocalypse, although it should be noted that the shippers are more likely to use the Mr. Fanservice Oscar Isaac-looking version of En Sabah Nur for their fanfics than his creepy blue form.
      • Angel/Devil Shipping in form of "Nightangel," or Nightcrawler/Angel.
      • "Nightsilver" for Nightcrawler/Quicksilver.
