Played by: Andrea Arru

The leader and central character. An outspoken boy at school, but not with the best home life.

  • Big Man on Campus: He's athletic, the most popular with girls, and the leader of his group of friends. He's no longer this in season 2, since he and all his friends of Marina Piccola are outcasts at the new school.
  • Book Dumb: Not very good at school, and only a slightly better student than his friend Giulio.
  • Bully Hunter: Pietro stands up for his friends when they get bullied, either by Matteo in season 1 or by Katia in season 2.
  • Chick Magnet: Arianna, Livia, Bianca, and Isabel were all interested in him at different points. However, Bianca gets over him quickly after she learns about his history with Livia.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: He pines after Livia in season 1 (though in a moderate way, without being a clingy Abhorrent Admirer like Giulio with Arianna), as he likes her since the first episode, even when she's dating Matteo. Even more so in the first half of season 2, when Livia is angry at him after their argument in the season 1 finale, and Pietro wants to win her back.
  • High-School Hustler: Or a "middle school hustler". He's rebellious against authority figures, to the point that the principal blames him even when Pietro is innocent or has good intentions.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: He has blue eyes, despite his rebellious streak, he’s very good guy at heart.
  • KidAnova: He's in the middle school, and has kissed four different girls in two seasons, so all the female protagonists except Monica.
  • Lovable Jock: Pietro plays basketball, sees his friends as family, and is strongly against bullying.
  • Nice Guy: He may be stubborn and critical at times, but he's always ready to support his friends and tries to keep all of them together. He only dislikes mean people; in one of his first scenes in the pilot, he defends a classmate against bullies.

    Livia Mancini

Click here to see her in Season 2
Played by: Flavia Leone

The other central character and Pietro's Love Interest. A very responsible girl who has a "Miss Perfect" reputation.

  • Academic Athlete: In season 1, she gets good grades and wins sports competitions, since people want her to be "Little Miss Perfect". Averted in season 2, when she gets bad grades and is not an athlete anymore.
  • Brainy Brunette: She has brown hair and is a good student. However, in season 2, despite being still intelligent, she's less serious and mature than before, and has trouble with her academic performance.
  • Class Princess: In season one, Livia has good grades, is a triathlete who wins sports competitions, both the Jerk Jock and the Lovable Jock are in love with her, and she's the most popular girl in the class. She's also kind and a good friend to everyone, and is still a humble girl who wears plain clothes and doesn't care about popularity.
  • Dude Magnet: Other than Pietro and Matteo fighting over her, she's voted most popular girl by most boys in the class.
  • Everyone Has Standards: In the middle of season 2, Livia comes to her senses when she realizes how much a horrible person Katia is, so she ends her friendship with her.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Livia changes hairstyle when she changes attitude. In season 1, she usually wears a Tomboyish Ponytail when she's the obedient girl, and Letting Her Hair Down when she doesn't want to follow the rules anymore. In season 2, she dyes her hair blue because she's more rebellious.
  • Fallen Princess: She's repeatedly described as "Miss Perfect" in season 1. In season 2, nobody calls her this way anymore, due to her bad grades, wrong choices, and becoming more troubled and distant from her friends.
  • Former Friend of Alpha Bitch: To Katia.
  • Girliness Upgrade: In season 1, she practices sports and wears plain clothes. In season 2, she stops practicing sports, and has more girly interests due to hanging out with Katia.
  • Girl Next Door: In season 1, she's very down-to-earth, in both clothes and personality, and also a good friend to her classmates.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: A huge flaw of Livia. She dates the Jerk Jock in season 1, and befriends the Alpha Bitch in season 2. They both pretend to be nice in front of her, and Livia is the only one who doesn't realize that they are bullies to other people.
  • Mature Younger Sibling: Her older sister Elisa is much more selfish and immature than her. That's why her parents expect more from Livia.
  • Nice Girl: Despite her being uptight, she’s very reliable and a friendly person, and she’s also good friends with her classmates.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Downplayed. In season 1, she's a dedicated triathlete, but it's more to live up to the high standards people expect from her, rather than true passion. In fact, she's no longer this in season 2.
  • The Perfectionist: Deconstructed. In season 1, she always tries to be the flawless "Miss Perfect", but it's just because her parents want her to be this way. She secretly would like to have more fun.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: She's the reliable Girl Next Door in season 1, but in season 2 she starts being hostile to Pietro, neglecting her old friends, and shoplifting with two new classmates. She gets better in the second half of season 2.

    Isabel Diop

Played by: Sofia Nicolini

An athletic and determined girl who is Monica's best friend.

  • Break the Cutie: At the end of season two, she breaks down crying for hours after Pietro leaves her for Livia.
  • Did Not Get The Guy: After her relationship with all the guys, she ends up alone after Pietro breaks up with her.
  • Dude Magnet: She has attracted Lamberto, Michele, Roby, and eventually Pietro. The only guy who didn't like her back was Daniele, because of Incompatible Orientation.
  • Incompatible Orientation: In one of the early episodes, Isabel has a crush on Daniele, who was still in the closet. When he comes out, Isabel is very supportive and tries to help him as a friend.
  • Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places: She is a romantic girl who tries to find the best boy for her many times, although Pietro is the only she has genuinely loved. She ends up alone.
  • Lovable Jock: Isabel is a sporty girl and, excluding her rudeness in the pilot, she's very friendly and caring to other people.
  • Nice Girl: Of the four original girls, she's the most consistently friendly and easygoing throughout the two seasons, compared to the way Monica and Arianna act in season 1 and the way Livia acts in season 2. Isabel is always there for her friends.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: She plays basketball with the boys, and is the best player of the team.
  • Romantic Runner-Up: She falls in love with love with Pietro in season 2 and they date for a while, but eventually Pietro ends up with Livia, his First Love since the first episode.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: Throughout two seasons, she shows interest in many boys. In order: Daniele, Lamberto, Michele, Roby, and Pietro.
  • Token Minority: While her race is never brought up, she is the only mixed-race black girl in the show.
  • You Go, Girl!: It's stated that she plays basketball better than all the boys. In season 2, she still helps Pietro with the training.

    Giulio Paccagnini

Click here to see him in Season 2
Played by: Liam Nicolosi

Pietro's best friend and resident class clown.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: In season 1, he has a huge crush on Arianna, who sees him as an an annoying loser and rejects him for most of the season. However, Arianna eventually warms up to him as she defrosts, they have a brief relationship, and decide to be Amicable Exes in season 2.
  • Book Dumb: He's stated to be the worst student in the class. Oddly enough in season 2, he's a slightly better student (if still mediocre) and has better grades than both Pietro and Livia.
  • Class Clown: He likes to act like a goofball and do silly stuff to get the attention of his classmates.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He becomes jealous of Monica's new boyfriend Manuel in season 2, when he starts to realize he has a crush on her.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: He pursues Arianna in the first half of season one. She's very rude to him but he keeps praising her and trying to get her attention.
  • Extreme Doormat: He keeps sucking up to Arianna whenever she rejected his advances.
  • High-School Hustler: Even more than his friend Pietro, since he often comes up with ridiculous schemes at school.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be an annoying jerk, especially to Monica in season 1, but deep down he's not that bad, especially compared to other worse bullies in the series.
  • "L" Is for "Dyslexia": He is diagnosed with dyslexia in one episode. He eventually meets a specialist doctor to find a different study method.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: He's the wackiest and most comical of the main characters, especially in season 1. Less often in season 2, since the entire season is more serious than the first.
  • The Prankster: He likes pranks and practical jokes, but as seen above, more often in season 1. It's brought back in one episode of season 2.

    Monica Piovani
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/monica_piovani_season1.png
Click here to see her in Season 2
Played by: Federica Franzellitti

A smart but opinionated girl who is Isabel's best friend.

  • Academic Alpha Bitch: She's known for being an academic nerd, and can be just as bitchy and snobby as Arianna for most of season 1.
  • Book Smart: Is very studious and has the best grades in the class, even beating "Little Miss Perfect" Livia.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Monica initially only wants Isabel as her friend, and gets angry if Isabel hangs out with other people. She gradually becomes a good friend to the rest of the class, including her former enemy Giulio.
  • Fat Best Friend: To Isabel, although her weight is never brought up in the series. While Monica is outspoken, she is also insecure deep down, especially for being considered a bookish geek, and her unpopularity with boys. By season 2, she's Formerly Fat.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: To Giulio, they start off as enemies at first but they become friends. They start dating at the end of season 2.
  • Innocently Insensitive: To Giulio, after she starts suspecting that he has dyslexia. She genuinely wants to help him, but ends up embarrassing him in front of the entire class.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: In season 1, she's bossy to Isabel and cold to everyone else (especially Giulio) but at the end of the day, she cares about Isabel and her heart is in the right place.
  • Most Writers Are Writers: In season 2, we learn that her favorite subject is literature and that she wants to become a writer.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Like Ariana, she becomes warm and a very good friend to the rest of the class.

    Daniele Parisi

Click here to see him in Season 2
Played by: Biagio Venditti

A nice and reasonable boy who comes out of the closet in early episodes.

  • Crazy Jealous Guy: In season 2, he's clearly jealous of Mirko's relationship with Bianca, because he still can't see Mirko only as a friend.
  • Gay Best Friend: Downplayed. While he's gay and a good friend to the girls, especially Livia and Isabel, he also plays basketball with the boys in season 1.
  • Hidden Depths: His interest in dancing revealed in season 2, which is later added to the character because his actor Biagio Venditti also likes dancing.
  • Nice Guy: The nicest of the boys, and one of the nicest characters overall, along with Bianca. He's pretty much the only classmate described by Pietro in a positive way in the first episode.
  • Only Sane Man: Despite a few mistakes, he's the most reasonable of the main characters.
  • Straight Gay: He's an average boy who just happens to be gay. Isabel even has a crush on him before he comes out.

    Mirko Valenti
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mirko_valenti_season1.png
Click here to see him in Season 2
Played by: Pietro Sparvoli

A shy and moody boy who comes from Rome.

  • Ambiguously Bi: In season 1, Mirko seems to like Daniele's kiss but later denies his feelings for him and claims he's not interested. In early season 2, he likes Bianca and starts dating her, but it's hinted that there's still something with Daniele. At the end of the season, it's no longer ambiguous: his attraction to Bianca was genuine, but Daniele is the one he loves.
  • Defrosting Ice King: He's very cold to Daniele in the first half of season 1, after learning about Daniele's feelings for him. He eventually ends up accepting Daniele as his best friend. They start dating at the end of season 2.
  • Fictional Fan, Real Celebrity: He's a fan of Tancredi, who is a real singer who performed the season 1 theme song. Mirko even interacts with Tancredi, who appears As Himself in two episodes.
  • Kick the Dog: The way he treats Daniele after the latter confesses his feelings to him. He starts ignoring him and avoiding him, until they make peace during the school trip.
  • The Quiet One: He rarely talks for most of season 1. He gets better after befriending his classmates, eventually.

    Arianna Rinaldi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arianna_rinaldi_season1.png
Click here to see her in Season 2
Played by: Francesca La Cava
The vain pretty girl of the class who looks down on her classmates.
  • Break the Haughty: Starting in season two, she loses her popularity, and starts to suffer from the bullying and harassment from Katia.
  • Butt-Monkey: In season 2, her main storyline is being repeatedly humiliated by bullies. This is not Played for Laughs at all, and she really has a hard time for most of the season, even with the support of her friends.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She is initially mean and hostile to her Abhorrent Admirer Giulio, who has a huge crush on her. She gradually starts to warm up to Giulio and even considers the idea of dating him. They break up in season 2, but stay friends.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: She’s blonde, pretty and the most popular girl at school. In the first episode, she gets angry when she's ranked second in a popularity list of the girls in the class (after Livia), made by the boys, because she wanted to be first. This changes at her new school, where she's no longer popular and gets bullied by Katia and Sara.
  • Extreme Doormat: During Katia and Sara’s tormenting of Arianna, Arianna keeps letting them roll all over them. Up until in the second half of season two, Arianna and her other friends reports both Katia and Sara’s bullying to the principal.
  • Fallen Princess: In season 1, Arianna is the confident cool girl always followed by a Girl Posse. In season 2, she's an insecure Butt-Monkey bullied by a much meaner Alpha Bitch at the new school. However, Season 1 Arianna was hated by all the main characters (except Giulio), while in season 2 all her friends are protective of her.
  • Freudian Excuse: She has a very controlling mother who refuses to listen to her, which explains Arianna's mean attitude before she finds true friends.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Arianna starts out as a vain and stuck-up Alpha Bitch who hates most of the core cast (except for Big Man on Campus Pietro, whom she has a crush on) and only hangs out with her Girl Posse. She later Took a Level in Kindness and learns to appreciate her classmatess.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Near the end of season 1, to the point that she writes an essay about the importance of friendship with her classmates that she used to hate.

    Bianca Laremi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bianca_laremi.png
Played by: Fiamma Parente

Giulio's bright and friendly cousin who meets the other protagonists in Marina Grande (season 2).

  • Ambiguously Bi: During her conversation with Livia, she states that she's into girls, but she kissed Pietro and later becomes attracted to Mirko.
  • Broken Ace: She's wise, musically talented, a good student, can give advice to everyone, and everyone adores her. However, in her A Day in the Limelight episode, we learn that she never had friends before moving to the island (due to her family always traveling), has anxiety issues, and struggles when she has her own problems.
  • Girl Next Door: She's a wholesome and approachable girl who has known her cousin Giulio and possibly Pietro for a long time.
  • Happily Adopted: Bianca is adopted by lesbian mothers who are very loving and supportive of her, and are easily among the best parents in the show.
  • Nice Girl: Probably the sweetest girl in the cast. She immediately befriends her cousin Giulio and his friends at the new school.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Introduced in season 2 as Giulio's cousin and she apparently also knew Giulio's friend Pietro when she was a child. She's never mentioned in season 1.
  • Romantic Runner-Up: She dates Mirko but at the end of season 2, Mirko is revealed to be bisexual and attracted to Daniele, so he breaks up with her.

Other Students

     Michele Pastore
Played by: Massimo Pio Giunto

A classmate and friend of the protagonists.

  • Last-Minute Hookup: Isabel accepts to date him in a random scene of the season 1 finale. At the start of season 2, Pietro's narration reveals that their date didn't work.
  • Out of Focus: While never a major character, he has his own scenes and personality in season 1. In season 2, he's a Living Prop who hangs out with the protagonists in the group scenes and very rarely talks.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: He's a secondary characters who mostly appears to be a goofy loser for quick gags.

     Silverio Mancini
Played by: Lorenzo Nicolò

Livia's cousin. Another classmate and friend of the protagonists.

  • Big Sister Worship: Technically they should be the same age, but Silverio admires his cousin Livia like a sister and Pietro calling him her number one fan.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • He is good with dogs, he instantly distinguished a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog from a real wolf and became friends with the animal after giving it food.
    • He disliked Matteo as his cousin's boyfriend and he is not afraid to tell him to his face.
  • Informed Attractiveness: It's Played for Laughs. In the first episode, he's voted "the best-looking boy" by the girls of the class. However, that ranking was supposed to be a complete joke to punish the boys, and no girl was actually attracted to Silverio.
  • Out of Focus: In season 2, just like Michele. While never a major character, he has his own scenes and personality in season 1. In season 2, he's a background character who has even less lines than Michele.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Like Michele, he's a secondary characters who provides quick gags.

     Lucia
Played by: Marta Latino

One of Arianna's best friends in season 1.

  • Beta Bitch: Out of two girls in Arianna's Girl Posse, she gets slightly more characterization. And while Arianna is the leader of the popular girls, Lucia is later implied to be a Toxic Friend Influence for Arianna, rather than the other way around.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: She and Carlotta (Arianna's other friend) are no longer in Arianna's class in season 2, and disappear without explanation.
  • The Rival: To Livia, as they both compete in the triathlon races, which we see in a few episodes.

    Matteo
Played by: Alessandro Laffi

Livia's boyfriend in season 1.

  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: He disappears in season two with no explanation. Justified, since he's one year older than the protagonists, and should be no longer in middle school by season 2.
  • Hate Sink: He's probably the main antagonist in season 1, and the viewers are clearly meant to dislike him every time he appears.
  • Jerk Jock: A basketball player and a bully, although he puts up a nice façade in front of Livia. His friends and classmates also seem to be this, but Matteo is the worst.
  • Karma Houdini: Downplayed, since he loses Livia and ends up humiliated a few times. However, in the last episode of season 1, he intentionally ruins Livia's relationship with Pietro, causing their break-up... that's the last time he appears.
  • Romantic False Lead: In the Love Triangle with Livia and Pietro. It's obvious since the beginning that Matteo is a jerk and Livia is not happy with him at all. She seems uncomfortable even when they are dating.

    Katia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/katiad.jpg
Played by: Emily Shaqiri

Livia's new "friend" at Marina Grande. Katia's mother and Pietro's father are currently dating.

  • Alpha Bitch: The "cool girl" of the new school, and she's nasty and shallow bully who is seen fat-shaming and blackmailing Arianna. Despite being supposedly popular, she mostly hangs out only with Sara, Livia, and later Roby. Livia, however, decides to stay away from her in the middle of season 2.
  • Evil Former Friend: To Livia.
  • False Friend: To Livia and Sara. She teaches Livia how to shoplift, and then leaves Livia alone in the shop when the latter gets caught. She's also very mean to Sara when they are alone.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: She has some issues, due to being completely neglected by her parents after their divorce. This doesn't justify the horrible way she treats Arianna.
  • Hate Sink: She is the most unlikable and a horrible person to be around with. You could hate her even more when she and Sara start bullying, harassing and blackmailing Arianna.
  • Irrational Hatred: To Arianna, she has no real reason to bully her in such an obsessive way.
  • Jerkass to One: She's passive-aggressive to everyone, but outright cruel to Arianna. She also physically attacks Livia after the latter ends her friendship with her.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: In the first half of season 2, she's a cruel bully but her Freudian Excuse is mentioned often, she has a heart to heart talk with Sara about how much her home life makes her suffer, and she's left alone at Christmas after Sara calls her out on her bad behavior. All this suggests a potential Jerkass Realization in the future but it never happens: in the second half of season 2, she keeps being a cruel bully and her Freudian Excuse is not brought up again.
  • Lack of Empathy: She doesn’t shows any remorse of her actions, especially bullying and humiliating Arianna.
  • Not Named in Opening Credits: Being an antagonist, she doesn't appear in the opening credits and never breaks the fourth wall like the protagonists. But the closing credits treat Katia's actress as a member of the main cast (even being listed ahead of Bianca's actress) and she's always with the main cast in season 2's promotional materials.
  • Replacement Flat Character: Arianna was the snotty Alpha Bitch in season 1, before her Character Development. In season 2, Katia is introduced as the new Alpha Bitch and she's much worse than Arianna ever was.

    Sara
Played by: Martina Frosini

Katia's best friend.

  • Beta Bitch: Always following Katia, and she takes part in Katia's bullying of Arianna.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Bullying Arianna along with Katia is not a problem for her. However, she appears nervous and concerned in the scene where Katia beats up Livia. Then she tells Livia a weak "You asked for it" in an unconvinced tone, and reluctantly follows Katia when she goes away, impying that she's scared of her.
  • Extreme Doormat: She's more passive than Katia, who frequently insults Sara and calls her useless, especially whey they are alone.
  • Grew a Spine: After being mistreated by Katia many times, Sara eventually calls her out on it and leaves Katia alone at Christmas. Subverted, as she goes back to be Katia's lackey after that episode.

    Roby
Played by: Gabriele Taurisano

Pietro's new teammate in season 2 who has a crush on Isabel.

  • Fallen Hero: In the second half of season two, he started to fall into this.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Even though Roby was the one who helped Pietro with basketball at first, Pietro ends up becoming a better player than him, and Roby's girlfriend Isabel also leaves him for Pietro. After that, Roby becomes resentful and antagonistic towards Pietro and his friends.
  • Lovable Jock: He's a basketball player who is extremely friendly and helpful to his new teammate Pietro. Sadly, he's no longer likable after Isabel dumps him for Pietro.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: He's always called Roby, his real name is never mentioned but we can assume it's short for Roberto.
  • Romantic False Lead: An odd example. Most of season 2 is about building up the Pietro/Isabel relationship, with Roby being clearly a brief Love Interest to Isabel, before she realizes her feelings for Pietro. But in the season 2 finale, Isabel herself turns out to be a Romantic False Lead because Pietro was meant to be with his First Love Livia all along.
  • Token Good Teammate: He initially seems the only nice student at Marina Grande, but it's subverted after Isabel breaks up with him.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: He starts off as Nice Guy but after his break-up with Isabel, he becomes mean and revengeful, even teaming up with Katia.
