    Unreconciled Stars
  • Mona almost believes every single thing that Fischl says when they met for the first time. When the former finishes her astrological reading in a cliff, Fischl still insists that the meteorites are a result of a curse, followed by yet another lengthy fantastical rambling. At that point, the Traveler and Paimon are visibly face-palming while she speaks.
  • Part IV begins with the local Chuunibyou Fischl and her familiar Oz leaving the group to tend to the victims. Fischl appreciates the time she spent with the Traveler, Paimon, and Mona, which becomes quite apparent when both she and Oz have an Out-of-Character Moment.
Fischl: To be honest, most of the other adventurers in the Guild only ever talk to me when they wanna hear Oz's reconnaissance reports. This little journey we had... it was a great adventure. I'm just sorry that it has to end so abruptly...
Paimon: Huh? You're talking a little weirder than you normally do...
Fischl: (Yikes! What am I doing? I totally broke form...)
Oz: What mein Fräulein means to say, is... is... is that the mystical mysteries that vex and perplex are bound to be effortlessly extinguished by the advent of your commendable courage and wondrous wisdom.
Paimon: Uh... And now Oz's translation is the one that sounds all kooky.
  • How we are introduced to Scaramouche, Sixth Harbinger of the Fatui — a polite Inazuman vagrant who's left nonplussed in face of Fischl's hamtastic edgelord roleplaying, with the Traveler quietly reassuring him that she's a very sweet girl actually. Also, it's possible to comment on his hat.

    Marvelous Merchandise
  • miHoYo revived the "Marvelous Merchandise" event in 2021, which not only boasts different mechanics, but is fully in continuity with the original one - which the Traveler makes sure to remind Liben about in their very first line to him.
    Lantern Rite
  • In Part 2 of the Lantern Rite event Story Quest, the Traveler and Paimon follow a mysterious letter to meet a thief. When the thief asks why they're not wearing masks, Paimon lectures him on how they don't need disguises because they would never do anything suspicious that would warrant such things. Then she turns around and sees the Traveler wearing a Fatui mask.
Paimon: Really!? I was in the middle of my speech and everything!
    • The kicker? You have the choice to say "This getup is pretty cool though..."
    • After you kick his ass, the thief then confesses that he wasn't even an expert... he's just a newbie thief who wasn't planning for arson, but to steal the large Plausterite meant for the Mingxiao lantern... by sinking it underneath the waters so no one else can take it but himself so he can make a name in his pledge of loyalty for the treasure hoarders. Paimon isn't amused to learn that he wasn't an arsonist and that his plans had too many holes in it. And both the Traveler and Paimon decided to beat him down even more due to being irritated at the sheer idiocy of this thief.

    Invitation of Windblume
  • During the opening quest, Venti gets the Traveler and Paimon to act as his assistants in helping people with their love problems. One of these people is Albert, who, along with the rest of Barbara's fanclub, plans on building a two story tall flower statue of the Deaconess. All three of them are visibly exasperated/disturbed by this and instantly shut it down.
  • The Festive Challenges have scores you need to pass to obtain prizes, each represented by a playable character with a quote from them. Some of these can be quite amusing:
  • Because the Ballads of Breeze minigame can be played on the dime anywhere, this opens up a lot of possibilities for some unexpected Funny Background Events or even Skewed Priorities moments in Co-Op mode, like your character being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm, getting relentlessly pummled by enemies within aggro range in the middle of the play session, or the rest of your Co-Op friends fighting a boss.
  • During the event, you meet Lisa and Jean on patrol together. Apparently, Lisa has taken to electrocuting drunkards and Jean has to scold her over this.
  • When trying to help Barbara locate a stolen item, Bennett is convinced the hint to the location points to the Thousand Winds Temple and takes off. The very next scene reveals it to be near the Dawn Winery. Furthermore, he doesn't appear for the rest of the quest, completely forgotten about by all involved until the following quest, where it's revealed that he got trapped in the temple with Razor for a whole day.
  • The Traveler is eventually made "Windblume Star:" an honorary position that involves choosing a special flower that will be used as an offering to Barbatos. Upon being told this by Jean, the Traveler immediately turns to Venti (who is, after all, Barbatos in disguise) to ask him what his favorite flower is. Venti laughs at them for trying to cheat, and Jean gets visibly annoyed, before Paimon calls them out for bringing Venti's identity up in public.
  • Venti's relationship with the event in general is, unsurprisingly, somewhat awkward. He loves everything about it, but dodges any mention of Barbatos - most amusingly when Kaeya first gives the Traveler the job while at the tavern. Kaeya then goes on and on about how sacred the responsibility is and how the choice of flower must perfectly satisfy Barbatos and Mondstadt's devotion to him... meanwhile Venti, in the background, very bluntly tries to change the subject to find out where the booze is. If only Mondstadt knew its Archon enjoyed drinking a mite more than flowers.
  • Speaking of the tavern. It turns out that the stiff, cold and imposing Rosaria much prefers the tavern to her actual job and wishes the Church gave out more free time. We also find out that she's been lurking around the town on her own to weed out troublemakers, only to spook the populace and end up getting arrested herself.
  • During the event's final cutscene, we see Kaeya and Rosaria enjoying a drink at the tavern. As Kaeya reaches for a bottle of wine, Diluc picks it up to put it away. Que clearly sad and disappointed expressions on Kaeya and Rosaria's faces.

    Midsummer Island Adventure
  • Klee calls Venti "Master Tone-Deaf Bard" when they meet for the first time, and he goes along with it! Knowing only one person who would call Venti with such a nickname, the Traveler quickly looks at Paimon and thinks of her as a bad influence.
Venti: Fear not! Since you wish it so, Master Tone-Deaf Bard will lend a helping hand.
  • Even if he only appears for a very short moment, it's still amusing to realize that Dvalin can be summoned by Venti to transport people on his back.
  • After arriving at the archipelago, Barbara is intrigued at how a bard like Venti can summon one of the Four Winds. When she asks her sister about it, Jean awkwardly clears her throat before explaining that Venti is a legendary bard who can use his lyre to call forth all manner of creatures. Paimon and the Traveler are surprised that Jean can quickly play along on the spot.
  • The reason Razor isn't with Diluc and Kaeya when they're first encountered is because he saw something below when riding Dvalin and jumped into the ocean mid-flight.
  • Kaeya tries to freeze water into ice bridges in order to traverse the islands but is hindered by Diluc who, as a Pyro user, keeps melting them with his footsteps. This is actually what creates the steam Barbara sees.
    • With Kaeya and Diluc being stranded on an island together there's a lot of bickering between the two, which earlier prompted Albedo to wander off, and Paimon later on remarks how she still can't figure out whether the two care about each other or hate each other's guts.
    • A meta example: Kaeya questions why Cryo and Pyro were made to be so incompatible. Yet, from a competitive standpoint, Melt is considered one of the best Elemental Reactions in the game.
  • When Klee let's slip that she's been wondering off on her own Jean, Barbara, Paimon, and the Traveler all put their hands on their hips and give Klee a Disapproving Look.
  • According to Albedo (via an Echoing Conch), the Inverted Ruins are actually a mountain from Mondstadt thrown into the sea by Barbatos that landed upside down. One has to wonder why Venti felt the need to chuck an entire mountain into the middle of the ocean.
    • The first thing Barbatos (a.k.a. Venti) did as Archon was to blow away all the snow and ice that covered Mondstad, then carved out the mountains with wind to make the grassy plains for the people to live on. The blown away mountains are what formed the Golden Apple Archipelago.

    Moonlight Merriment
  • The Running Gag of Guoba, who normally has to be physically pushed into position when you use him in combat, just running around in the back and doing his own thing during the conversations.
    • This makes it even more hilarious when the gang discovers that Guoba is the Stove God they've been trying to learn about all this time. Even Guoba himself is surprised!
  • A discussion over dinner is interrupted when Xiangling suddenly realizes that Guoba has stolen all of Keqing's Golden Shrimp Balls, scolding him profusely while poor Keqing is wearing the expression of a kicked puppy.
  • Back at Wanmin Restaurant, there's a sudden noise from outside, and everyone runs out to see that Cloud Retainer of all people has decided to pay Liyue a visit. After briefly being extremely put out that Paimon addressed her as "the Lady Bird" instead of using her proper title, the haughty Adeptus promptly expresses her approval of the festivities, brags about the new cooking machine she invented, and declares her intent to beat out even Liyue's master chefs with the device before flying off. Later, a flustered Ganyu runs over, desperately hoping that Cloud Retainer didn't share even more embarrassing stories from her childhood.
  • Getting through the first chapter unlocks several LTMs, as explained by an Adventurers' Guild member, which basically involves a lot of finding chests and new baubles similar to the Geoculi, and even serial battles...
  • The Traveler and Paimon try to summon Xiao as a taste-tester for Xiangling's food. Specifically, Paimon tries summoning him by screaming her head off, to zero effect. Next, remembering that Xiao only promised the Traveler he'd show up when they call on him, they softly call out "Xiao, you there?" - and Xiao instantly arrives. Even funnier, as Xiao said in the Lantern Rite Event that he hears every cry for help, it's highly unlikely that he couldn't hear Paimon and just decided to ignore her.

    Shadows Amidst Snowstorms
  • At one point, the traveler was requested to paint Paimon together with Albedo. When Paimon asked the traveler to describe their expression, choices include:
"Paimon's all out of brain juice."
    "Paimon's peeved."
    Dopey but adorable.
    • When asked about what the traveler thinks of Paimon, the choices include the traveler jokingly saying one of these:
      Top quality emergency food.
      Top tier flying pet.
    • The end result is a derpy looking painting of Paimon (especially if you picked "dopey but adorable"), either sitting in a cooking pot or floating with a silly pose. Even better, the traveler looks proud of it! Here are all the possible combinations.
    • Paimon is, to put it mildly, not happy with the finished product, although she briefly composes herself to try and give an objective review.
Paimon: ...The brushwork is smooth and the composition seems professional-quality, you have no problems there, so what the heck happened with the face, huh!? Explain that stupid expression! Explain it!
    • When Albedo has to fix it up, he claims it's just a few adjustments, but he has to basically completely redo the whole thing from scratch. Though in this case, it's actually really good.

    A Study in Potions
  • "A Study in Potions" gives us the ship we never knew we needed - Timaeus and Ying'er.

Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas
  • Kichiboushi initially has a couple problems saying Paimon and the Traveler's names. The Traveler gets called "(Aunt/Uncle) Yellow Fur" and gets a little defensive about it. Paimon, meanwhile, is called "White Fur," "Byemon," or "Spymon" and goes all the way up to shrieking indignation.
  • Kichiboushi, being a bake-tanuki from Inazuma's Chinju Forest, has no concept of things like Kameras, snow, the bouyancy of ships, or cooking. Every day with him is a teaching and learning process, including the Traveler sometimes finding out they knew a bit less than they thought they did.
Kichiboushi: Mountain with snow to be cold? Or the cold mountain has snow?
Paimon: ... That's a good question, actually. What do you think snow's actually made of, Traveler?
    Option 1: Hydro, actually.
    Option 2: Cryo, actually.
  • Kaeya is up to something at the Goth Grand Hotel, which sees him ordering enough food from two different countries that Paimon and the Traveler's attempt to show off Liyue and Mondstadt cuisine to Kishiboushi requires them to seek alternatives. Paimon later speculates he's trying to make the Fatui diplomats foot a monstrous catering bill (or ambush them over dinner), but ultimately it's left up in the air.
  • One of the responses the Traveler can give to Paimon's pondering about Barbara and the Lyre der Himmel is Venti's memetic "Hehe."

    Fleeting Colors in Flight
  • Cloud Retainer is at it once again when she begins reminiscing about Ganyu as a child. Ganyu promptly tries to excuse herself, citing an urgent matter that she suddenly needed to attend to. This is in spite of the fact that she's actually on leave, and thus shouldn't have anything she needs to do. Cloud Retainer nearly catches her lie by pointing out that, with Keqing right there, she should be able to solve the matter on the spot. Ganyu responds by claiming that the matter involves Ningguang, which Keqing backs her up on by pointing out how she and Ningguang have completely different responsibilities, which creates a lot of busywork for Ganyu. Cloud Retainer is convinced, and Ganyu, thankful for Keqing's timely assistance, successfully escapes.
  • She's also incredibly peeved at Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper, mouthing off at them as "old coots" and "old fossils" in spite of also being old herself. Moon Carver is apparently too proud to take on a human form to check up on Liyue despite his concern for its welfare, and Mountain Shaper is busy looking for new things to protect his mountain with. She tells them that they're both away traveling before realizing they may have been making excuses to go run off and hang out without her.
Cloud Retainer: Wait! Surely this is not a case of two old coots in cahoots, rusing to excuse themselves that they might venture behind one's back to scurry away and go traveling together!?
  • When the Traveler and Paimon return to tell Zhongli about their experiences, they find him speaking with Yun Jin, who comments on how well connected the Traveler must be. Zhongli's response to that is likely to leave players' jaws hanging open in incredulity:
Yun Jin: Not everyone gets the privilege of meeting someone so knowledgeable and discreet as Mr. Zhongli. You are indeed well-connected, Traveler.
Zhongli: I am flattered, Ms. Yun. It is an honor for an ordinary person like myself to have met the Traveler.
    Of Drink-a-Dreaming
  • It would appear that after his nostalgia tour around Liyue, Zhongli has awakened something of a wanderlust. Paimon and the Traveler (along with a good portion of the playerbase) do a double-take when he shows up in Angel's Share, orders a cup of tea, and shares a bit of wisdom on tea and his way of enjoying it. Oh, and he still forgot his wallet. He then sends the bill to Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Just imagine Hu Tao receiving a tavern bill all the way from Monstadt.

    Hues of the Violet Garden
  • The entire concept of the Irodori Festival is basically an Anime Convention, complete with fanzine booths, international guests, themed drinks, banners with illustrations of Yae and the Shogun, and even a waitress in a Yae Miko cosplay.
  • Taking a cue from "Moonlight Merriment" we get the Running Gag of Klee running around in the background.
  • How Venti gets to Inazuma is a funny story. Originally, he was supposed to arrive with the other Mondstadt characters. However, upon noticing a wine cargo ship, he got on board of that ship instead, and spent the entire trip going there drinking up the alcohol. The Tenryou Commission then finds him in the warehouse, drunk, and the Traveler runs across Kujou Sara in the middle of interrogating him for illegal entry into Inazuma.
    • And both the Traveler and Paimon assumed that despite his hands-off approach in ruling over Mondstadt, he's still an Archon and coming to Inazuma upon hearing about a festival would be a little childish and shameless of him. Cue the above incident happening, and the Traveler would call him out for this.
    • For extra laughs at the cargo ship owner's expense, think back to Jean's Story Quest. As Diluc can attest, thirty-seven glasses is not enough to knock out Venti, yet Kujou Sara found the bard blackout drunk. Inazuman Sake must be made of some real strong stuff.
  • Yoimiya and Klee meet. While it's heartwarming that both clicked immediately, it's funny that both girls are sad about not being able to make explosives during the festival. At one point Klee suggests making money for the printing with "explosive fishing".
    • What seems like a nice gesture from Yae to publish Klee and Yoimiya for free, it turns out that the book they released along with Klee's story was from Alice, and Yae planned a marketing strategy to offer both books as a "mother-daughter collaboration."
  • How the Arataki gang got into the festival:
    • At first, Itto wanted to write a book, but the gang procrastinated so much that they neither had something to publish or money to spend there, so they decided to get the most out of a photo cardboard standee. This gathers the attention of the guards, who try to negotiate with Itto so he will let others use it.
    • One of the ways the Itto gang ended up procrastinating was getting into a MTG / Yu-Gi-Oh TCG pastiche that was apparently sweeping Inazuma. They manage to only get one line of their book done over two months. Hilariously, when they switch to making slogans and a flier they're far more productive, only to find out they don't have enough money to print them. And the reason they don't have money for the festival? They spent it all on new outfits, which ended up looking so offensive anyway that the Tenryou Commission nearly kicked them out the festival even before the mess with the photo booth.
    • Thoma manages to convince the Arataki gang to help as volunteers during the festival in exchange of the special drink they were after.
    • Credits to Max Mittelman for adlibbing his lines once again, making the English dub of Itto ten times funnier.
Itto: Oh... so, uh, Thoma, my bro, my guy, my dude, maybe I didn't explain properly. When I said two points, that's out of a total of two.
    • Unfortunately for Itto, the Traveler and Paimon find out that the special drink Itto was after had soy milk as base ingredient. Too bad Itto finds out after drinking it immediately.
  • Buyer’s Guide to the Statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder shows Sara's side as a fangirl of the Shogun.
    • The Traveler and Paimon mention that there was a rumor of Sara getting in line at night before anyone to get a limited edition figurine of the Raiden Shogun. Instead of getting offended or embarrased about it, Sara only requests that they correct the part of "figurine", since it's "a Statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder".
    • Since Sara is busy with her job at the Tenryou Commission, Miko makes sure to hire a professional to buy one for her. Sara says that said person needs to be awake from early hours and be tall enough to reach the counter of the store. Cue to Sayu being said professional. As a result, Sayu falls asleep and misses her spot at the line. Fortunately for her, the store clerks were stealing the figurines to resell them at a higher price and Sara doesn't find out that she messed up in the first place.
    • At the end of the Buyer’s Guide to the Statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder quest, Sara goes on a long rant about how exquisite the making of the statue is, as well as the long process of keeping it clean. Unbeknownst to her, from right the heck out of nowhere, Ei just strolls up right behind as she’s talking about the statue, and when alerted to her presence by the Traveler and Paimon, Sara is left completely flustered when Ei both marvels at the statue, wonders why it's so bothersome to give it that much care, and casually calls it a figurine, which Sara had spent the entire quest calling it the Statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder. Sara is so embarrassed that she denies the figurine is hers and just leaves.
    • It gets funnier when you read her character story entries. As it turns out, Sara already had five copies before the event started.
    • The fact that the Shogun of Inazuma, who effortlessly killed a Fatui Harbinger, a serpent much larger than Stormterror and Azhdaha, and nearly you if you weren't so lucky, has been made into a cutesy little desk figu... statue that people are gushing over.
  • Poor Gorou becomes the Butt-Monkey of the "Pen Pals, Book Reviews, and the Super Lucky General" quest.
    • Gorou and Kokomi arrive to Ritou to meet a pen pal of Kokomi, known only as "Fried tofu with all the frills". Turns out that this pen pal of the Hydro vision holder ends up being Yae Miko. Upon seeing her, Gorou literally runs away from her.
    • Kokomi's pen name, by the way? "Sole of the deep". As in sole, the fish.
    • Gorou then goes to buy books for Kokomi as a way to make-up for him running away from her. However, while buying these books, he ends up winning prizes related to Yae Miko by complete coincidence. These prizes include a fox plushie, a signed autograph from Yae Miko, and the "opportunity" to meet with Yae herself. Naturally, Gorou wasn't too happy with those prizes.
    • By the end of the quest, Gorou seems to have gotten away from dealing with Yae Miko. However, he then finds out that Yae has plans for him to cosplay as a female character from a popular light novel and attend a fan meeting later on.
  • The "Clash of Lone Blades" sub-event has its strongest fighter be... Taroumaru. Yes, the Shiba Inu who supposedly owns the Komore Teahouse. Granted, ninja doggos are well-established by this point and we know Taroumaru is a retired ninja, but it's still chuckle-worthy.
    • It's even more funny when you realize why he's fighting the Traveler in the event, though it would require some action to be taken beforehand. Talking to him reveals that he was in need of some mora. And why does he want mora? The subtitles underneath his boss title states, "Desposit Stolen, Teahouse Boss Enraged". Travelers who opened the Precious Chest in Komore Teahouse in the overworld would now understand that they've looted Taroumaru's belongings.

    Spices of the West
  • All characters have different reactions (like, neutral and dislike) depending on which dish players feed them in the event, and some of the 'dislike' reactions can be comical.
    • When fed with anything that has beans in it, Itto's eyes will straight up turn completely white.
    • A few characters have some choice words about a dish they dislike.
      Diluc: ...Thanks.
Fischl: Why does thou insist on raining chaos and destruction in the presence of your Prinzessin?
Oz: Mein Fraulein does not care a great deal for this dish. My apologies.
Hu Tao: Ugh, I declare this dish dead, rest in peace.
Kamisato Ayato: Here's a suggestion: Try using this dish in the hot pot game next time you play...
Raiden Shogun: Consuming this would be physically detrimental. Remove it from my presence.
Sayu: Uh oh, need an escape plan.
Yae Miko: How should I put this...There's so much room for improvement that the only way is up.

    Perilous Trail
  • In the "Realms of Guile and War" domain, your opponent will occasionally be a single buffed Cryo Slime complete with a boss's Life Meter and epithet. It's quite durable but not too dangerous, so even with a semi-built team, the fight is just the poor Slime getting thrown across the room repeatedly until it dies.

The Almighty Arataki Great and Glorious Drumalong Festival
  • Just the fact that the event has an Overly Long Name is enough to likely get some chuckles.
  • The fact alone that the festival is supposed to be in celebration of Kuki Shinobu graduating from Law School in Liyue, and Itto sent her to give flyers promoting the festival.
    • In hindsight, it's ironic that all the gifts and main attractions from the festival are directly connected to Itto's favorite things instead of what Shinobu likes, as in the one celebrating her graduation.
  • While telling the Traveler about the specifics of the festival, Itto casually mentions that the bonfire nearby is good for roasting both regular lavender melons and the annoying flying ones.
  • Exploring the event venue reveals that Itto somehow managed to rent the Ms Hina standee from the Yae Publishing House even after being scammed into buying the drum for far more money than it was worth. Aratani agreed to sign up the rental form because she found it touching that Itto reserved part of their budget just to get it.
  • Reading the nearby bulletin board reveals that several of the Inazuman cast had been invited to the event and left responses at the venue, even those from a higher social status such as Ayato (who signed his note as "TCG Buddy"), Thoma and Yae Miko. Miko, under the alias of "Ramen Buddy", even "generously" left a gift for the Arataki Gang - a free all you can eat ramen voucher that can be only used for the Fried Tofu meal deal - which neither Itto nor the rest of the gang will use out of respect for his allergies.
  • Unfortunately for the Arataki gang, the festival ended up being suspended as Itto got arrested for trespassing onto the Tenshukaku grounds in an attempt to give flyers to the Raiden Shogun.
    • It's implicit that Shinobu will put her law degree in use to get Itto out of jail again.

    Summertime Odyssey
  • When the Traveler first meets Fischl and Mona at the plaza, Fischl's Chuunibyou tendencies are out in full force. Mona is visibly frustrated that she has to play along with Fischl in public.
  • When Fischl announces that her supposed kingdom of Immernachtreich is near Mondstadt, the Traveler promptly suggests reporting it to the Knights of Favonius, causing Fischl to be taken aback while Oz hastily assures the Traveller that it would be unnecessary.
  • Fischl reveals that she got invited to explore the Golden Apple Archipelago by recounting to Klee (who then told Alice, prompting her to send the invite) about the tragic history of the Immernachtreich. Her and Oz do a public reenactment of the conversation, with Fischl repeating her own lines and Oz roleplaying as Klee. As such, Oz, who usually speaks in a Baritone of Strength, has to pitch his voice much higher to match Klee's voice, while also saying the following line:
Oz: "Really? So how do we make your homeland grow back again? Oh pwease tell me, pweeease, pweeeeeease!"
  • To accept the invite from Fischl, Paimon gets into the spirit of roleplaying and starts speaking in the same dramatic, flowery language while gesticulating. Upon Paimon's urging, the Traveler, with Mona in the back as support, also ends up roleplaying for the next 30 minutes in public, much to the amusement of the Mondstadt citizens present.
  • Paimon then complains about the role she had in the roleplay — being a clock on the wall in the royal palace. The way she delivers her lines while also moving her eyes side to side like an actual cukoo clock really sells it.
Paimon: Cukoo! It's twelve o'clock sharp in the Immernachtreich!
  • The Traveler and Paimon then head to the Angel's Share tavern where they meet Venti, Kazuha and Xinyan. During their conversation, Xinyan mentions passing by Dawn Winery Manor on the way to Mondstadt and being amazed at the sight of it, and comments that "whoever it is that lives in that place must really be lovin' life". Knowing that the owner of the manor is Diluc, the Traveler and Paimon can only muster a wry smile.
  • Kazuha ends up drunk because he mistook the fruit cocktails that Venti put out as fruit juice. The result is him being adorably sleepy and mumbling about wanting more drinks, while Venti admits his mistake with a signature "Ehe".
  • Venti couldn't join the Traveler to the Archipelago as he'd be heading to The Cat's Tail tavern for a performance. When asked about how he'll deal with his cat allergies, he says he'd just perform on the roof.
    • Return to Mondstadt after unlocking the Golden Apple Archipelago, and Venti will actually be perched on the roof of the Cat's Tail, unable to perform inside due to his cat allergies. He stays on the roof for the entire month of the event.
    • Furthermore, when the Traveler contacts him via the Dodocommunication Device, Venti can be heard sneezing and sniffling throughout the conversation as allergy medicine has no effect on him.
  • When the group meets up the next morning, Fischl declares in her usual fashion that "It is time for Retribution!", which Oz notes doesn't seem like a typical part of her vocabulary. She briefly breaks character, sheepishly admitting she overheard someonenote  in the city saying it, and when Mona uses her astrology out of curiosity...
Mona: Huh. It really is someone else's catchphrase...
  • Upon being introduced to Fischl and Mona, Xinyan compliments their appearances and immediately gets into their good graces. As a result, both girls think at the same time:
Fischl and Mona: (Oh, I like her. She can stay!)
  • Kazuha, being the Humble Hero that he is, only introduces himself as a wandering samurai, and Paimon has to hype him up, saying that "He parries blades that none have ever parried before". Mona, curious about the authenticity of Paimon's words, performs a divination on him and becomes shocked at what she finds, all the while Kazuha merely gives a knowing smile.
  • Upon finding the Dodoco-shaped teleporter (the Dodofortress) that would take the party to the islands, Mona suddenly feels nervous about entering it and has second thoughts about going.
  • Xinyan also remarks that it looks like Guoba, prompting the Traveler to give her a look of utter confusion, only for Kazuha to agree with the Guoba remark.
  • The party then squeezes into the cramped space of the Dodofortress, which results in this interaction:
Mona: Fischl! You're treading on my hair!
Fischl: I thought it was a snake!
  • Fischl takes a jab at Mona for being a bad swimmer and the two race to see who is better. Said swimming race turns into the two of them running. The joke can also be interpreted two ways from a gameplay perspective:
    • Mona's alternate sprint makes her much faster than Fischl, both on land and water, yet its infamously trickier controls somehow made Fischl catch up.
    • Mona really is a bad swimmer because she is much slower without her alternate sprint and because she shares the same stature as Fischl they share a similar speed both on foot and on water.
  • After discovering that the Fatui had been using one of the islands for their experiments, the Traveler and Paimon are eager to ensure that they wouldn't impede their vacation, with Paimon threatening to take the Cryogunner's cap if they don't leave. Surprisingly, it works.
  • The next day, the Traveler is reluctantly woken up by Paimon's panicked voice. When Paimon asks whether they want to hear the good news or bad news first, they simply stare at her for a moment before going back to bed.
  • Paimon shows the Traveler that bizarrely, they've encountered a talking squirrel and boat. In response, the Traveler opts to go back to sleep while Paimon indignantly stops them from doing so.
Paimon: No, avoidance isn't going to solve anything!
  • Through conversing with the talking squirrel and boat, the Traveler and Paimon find out that it is them that suddenly gained the ability to understand the former pair, which Paimon finds strange. To which the squirrel replied:
Squirrel: Maybe you've gained some intelligence. Congratulations.
  • Upon asked its name, the boat replies that it doesn't remember, only remembering being a part of Inazuman fleet, and offers Traveler and the others to call it whatever they like. Paimon promptly christens the boat Miitaboru, as in, meatball.
  • Fischl couldn't be happier about the strange happenings around the island, but Oz has other ideas, leading to this conversation.
Fischl: Hohoho! The servants of darkness have descended. Rejoice, for the return of the Immernachtreich is nigh!
Oz: Mein Fräulein means that this is an unexpected development, and she has never seen anything like this before.
Paimon: No, that's not even close to what she said!
Oz: My apologies. Please take that as my own opinion.
  • After witnessing the mirages appear on the islands, the group is stunned. Fischl breaks character and questions whether the Immernachtreich is real. Xinyan invites Kazuha to punch her to see whether the strange things that happened are All Just a Dream, which he respectfully declines and asks her to hit him, which Xinyan rejects because "that'll hurt real bad." Paimon stops them and offers an alternative: hitting the Traveler.
  • The talking squirrel recounts how his ancestors got stranded on the islands, causing Paimon to remark that the Immernachtreicht sounds like a kingdom of squirrels, much to Fischl and Oz's indignation. Oz even goes on to clarify that the Immernachtreich is a kingdom of night ravens.
  • Act 3 has the group explore Xinyan's domain. When they encounter a locked door, the Traveler gets the option to either suggest to Mona to use her alternate sprint and slide under the door, or suggest Kazuha to use his Elemental Skill to jump over the door. Both are fairly unamused.
Mona: Keep your nonsense to yourself, thank you very much.
    Kazuha:...Let's keep thinking this through.
  • An echo of Fischl's memories reveals to the entire party that her real name is actually Amy. After this bombshell, there's a hilariously awkward silence before Kazuha hesitantly asks Mona if her name is really "Megistus". And this part gets even better for the players who have Mona at friendship level 5 or higher — one of her voicelines reveals that "Mona Megistus, the Astrologist" is the name that she and her teacher came up with together.
Mona: ...Why are all of you giving me that look!?
Kazuha: Forgive me if this comes across as rude, but... is your surname truly Megistus?
Mona: Hmph, you think I was bluffing? My full title is and always has been "Mona Megistus, the Astrologist!"
    Kazuha: ...My apologies.
Xinyan: Don't you think that's a bit long?
Mona: Well, it's a special case. Only geniuses get titles like this.
  • Act 4 introduces two of the Immernachtreich citizens: Leon the Knight, who seems to be fond of getting stuck in a puzzle every time you meet him, and Ask-Me-For-Directions Arnold, who seems to be more occupied with (not so) subtly flirting with Mona (who doesn't recipocrate) and nearly throwing everything out the window to beg her to go out with him. Did we mention that Leon and Arnold are chess-piece-like raven statues?
  • After saving Leon for the final time, Fischl thanks him for his devotion in her usual fashion, which confuses Paimon and leads to the following:
Fischl: Is there not a single one of my lords and ladies who understood my precepts? Fools.
Oz: What mein Fräulein means to say is that you are all rather stupid.
Mona: Yeah, you didn't need to translate that!
  • We finally get to see the inside of Mona's apartment. Despite having a reputation both in and out of universe for being perpetually poor, it turns out that Mona's actually loaded, or at least makes much, much more money than initially believed, as her apartment is filled with expensive books and lavishly furnished almost to the point of luxury. A rather peeved Fischl promptly asks about all the meals and family dinners she treated Mona to, evidently having prided herself on being Mona's meal ticket until this discovery.
  • A sidequest on Fischl's island has the Traveler help out with a stage play called "Tale of the Sword-Wielding Princess". The titular princess wields the sword in exactly one scene right at the end, which the Traveler points out afterwards to the Theater Head. After the Theater Head tries to explain it, citing The Five Kasen being portrayed in four poems as an example, the Traveler can agree either by saying that sometimes the best travel buddy is called "emergency food", or by mentioning the existence of "a cavalry captain without a single horse", taking a stab at Kaeya.
  • After finishing the aforementioned quest, the players can pick up the script for the stage play. Throughout the script there are detailed notes on the scenes with the dragon, including the meticulous instructions on fire safety and handling of the props due to the dragon's size. The script only fails to account for one detail — the role of the dragon being played by a raven statue.
    • The stage play itself is amusing, to say the least. The actors are putting their all into reciting their lines and playing their character, yet as raven statues, all they can do is move around railings and rotate which results in a pathetic yet adorable performance. You also get to take a photo with the cast at the end, but it's impossible to tell who played who aside from Leon because of his helmet.

    Of Ballads and Brews
  • Klee’s throwaway line as she arrives and greets everyone reminds you just how much she gets into trouble:
Klee: They let me out for Weinelesefest!
  • On Day 2, Bennett arrives to the festival and gives Razor a Small Lamp Grass he tripped with on the way there. Klee, Paimon and the Traveler immediately question how can anyone trip with a plant, since they are not that big and glow. Bennett thinks to himself that he better not tell them that he had a few more accidents after that one.
  • Klee decides to help Razor with his brewery mission, declaring that he asked her to help him find his mommy. Razor protests that he did not say the word mommy.
  • Klee offers herself to go exploring with Bennett, which the Traveler and Paimon think is a good idea, as she can rub some of her good luck on Bennett. Worse case scenario, only Klee will be fine.
  • At one point, you must head over to the Dawn Winery to talk with Diluc… with Kaeya. Predictably, while Diluc is friendly and welcoming towards the Traveler, his mood does a one-eighty the exact second he sees Kaeya.

    Fabulous Fungus Frenzy
  • The Traveler and Paimon investigate the tournament mostly out of concern for how it could be unsafe. The instant Paimon learns about the prize money, however, she is almost begging the Traveler to participate. You can immediately call her out on this.
  • Paimon boasts to Haniyyah about how she'll come up with awesome names the Traveler and her catch. The first two fungus you catch are a Stretchy Electro Fungus and a Floating Hydro Fungus. The former actually has a neat selection to choose from. The latter, on the other hand, only has "Bongo-Head" for all three choices because Paimon can't come up with anything else because she thinks its head looks like a drum.
  • In a moment that's both awesome and hilarious, the final battle of the tournament sees the Traveler commanding four Fungi against a full squad of Fatui Skirmishers being led by Elchingen. Watching them lose to a bunch of Fungi (albeit stronger than the usual variety) is bound to have one laughing at the Fatui's incompetence.

    Akitsu Kimodameshi
  • Itto, Paimon and the Traveler attempting to scare the Arataki gang (minus Shinobu). While Itto and Paimon appear out of the bushes shouting, the Traveler appear out of the bushes with a happy look on their faces.
    • Even funnier when Paimon channels her inner Eustace by yelling "WOOGA BOOGA BOOGA!" (exclusive to the English dub) and the trio realizes that the people they tried to scare aren't from the Arataki Gang but a bunch of Youkai, prompting both sides to comically skedaddle away from each other.
  • At the end of the event, Itto and Gorou finally meet in person and start discussing fishing. Itto brags about catching an enormous fish not too long ago, and mentions that he wrote to Yae Publishing House advice column to ask Miss Hina on what to do with his catch. Gorou pensively points out that, coincidentally, he works part-time for the Yae Publishing House advice column, and that he recently got a letter about a huge fish. Itto manages to connect the dots, much to the horror of the Traveler and Paimonnote , and comes to the conclusion that... someone in Inazuma is as good at fishing as he is.

    The Exquisite Night Chimes
  • Dvorak, a traveling musician from Fontaine, tells everyone the story of his ancestor. This ancestor was once drowning, but suddenly heard wondrous music and then was saved by a strange woman, who quickly left before he could talk to her. To learn whether the woman may have been an adeptus, Ganyu takes the Traveler and Paimon to visit Cloud Retainer to ask her about it. But Cloud Retainer isn't home, and then Paimon has an idea: the Traveler should jump into the water and pretend to be drowning! Then, if there is an adeptus who likes to save drowning people, she'll show up to save the Traveler. The Traveler reluctantly goes along with it.
  • Unfortunately, they attract the wrong adeptus; the Traveler is "saved" by Xiao and Shenhe, the former demanding an explanation. Both Ganyu and the Traveler are so embarrassed that neither of them bring out a word, leaving a flustered Paimon to explain herself. Xiao then leaves in annoyance after hearing Paimon's explanation, but not before telling the Traveler not to repeat said actions, because they caused "others" a great deal of worry. Seeing how he and Shenhe were the only ones to arrive it's not particularly hard to deduce who "others" could be.
  • In the ensuing conversation between everyone who's left, Shenhe tells Ganyu that she has grown a lot of nice flowers to eat (her dietary habits have apparently not changed since her story quest), and invites Ganyu to visit her in Liyue Harbor along with Keqing for a feast. Ganyu seems to be looking forward to it, but the Traveler points out that Keqing probably won't care to munch on any flowers, and Paimon asks if this weird flower-eating thing is because they're both disciples of "that illuminated bird".
Cloud Retainer: [appearing suddenly] Hmph! Who dares refer to one not by one's adeptus title, but merely as "that illuminated bird"?
Paimon: Aaah, there it is! The illuminated bird has landed!
Cloud Retainer: Double hmph! Now she has the gall to use "it" rather than "she"! Even after being chastised once already! Huh, barely a moment has passed since we last met, and yet your impertinence has reached new heights. Very well, if you refuse to learn your lesson, one shall scold you no further.
  • Cloud Retainer thinks she knows who saved Dvorak's ancestor (who turns out to be Streetward Rambler, also known as Madam Ping), and starts her explanation by reminiscing about Guizhong, the goddess of Dust, who died in the Archon War.
Cloud Retainer: ...[E]very time an argument occurred, Guizhong would come over to watch us during our mutual lambastings. On some occasions, she would join in, and on others, she'd take one of us by the limb, and start uttering the most ridiculous nonsense.
    Paimon: What kind of nonsense?
Cloud Retainer: No kind of nonsense were we spared. Sometimes, she would brazenly opine "Ahh, why argue between yourselves when neither of you could ever hope to beat me?" Other times, she would make unsolicited suggestions such as "Once you two are done arguing, let's go to the foot of the mountain and grill some meat..." She always sought to make everyone happy, and one must say, she had quite the gift for it — no matter what nonsense she said, one never felt bothered or offended...It also helped that she never referred to one as "that illuminated bird" or "lady bird."
Paimon: You...! Come on, get over yourself!
  • Zhongli spends the Lantern Rite together with his fellow Adepti, with Zhongli cooking his Bamboo Shoot Soup for the group. Since it's a slow-cook process that needs at least half a day to be done, Zhongli uses the cooking device from Cloud Retainer to save a lot of time, which prompts Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver to comment how handy it would have been having this device when raising Shenhe, since she as a child only ate raw herbs.
  • Hu Tao holds a banquet with Zhongli and Xiao in attendance, which ends up being crashed by Venti. The first in-game interaction between Archons is a lengthy game of Zhongli and Venti pretending to be "new friends" that have only heard of each other and have definitely never met before. All while Xiao becomes increasingly uncomfortable sitting beside a pair of gods that are shooting each other overly-embellished compliments and insisting that they are both absolutely normal ordinary people that do not know each other. To top it off, between Venti's first throwaway line "you finally let me in", Zhongli making absolutely no move to greet him (after previously leaping up to greet Xiao) and Venti casually remarking how perhaps "a certain someone deliberately ignored the sound of the wind", there's the implication that Zhongli had been perfectly aware of Venti's presence from the start and tried his best to keep him out.
  • When they have a private moment to chat, Venti remarks how glad he is that there's only tea, because of how embarrassing it would be if he got drunk and told off by Zhongli, whom he "just met". Zhongli insists that he would never dare to insult one of the director's guests. Now, if one recalls his character voiceline for Venti, where he unceremoniously calls "that drunkard" a "disgrace to the arts", his previous assessment becomes one of the most hilarious Blatant Lies he has told all evening.
    • Xiao's face struggling to remain calm when he "meets" Zhongli, as it turns out that they not only know each other, they also saw each other the previous week, since Zhongli was running an errand on sesame oil for Hu Tao. An errand that took him almost a week, apparently.
    • How did Hu Tao manage to invite Xiao to the banquet? She started to yell for him at the inn until he accepted the invitation. Or as Chongyun puts it, Xiao accepted so Hu Tao would stop pestering him.
    • Not only Venti and Xingqiu knew each other from the Irodori Festival, Venti almost forgets that Xingqiu hasn't told anyone that he is Zhenyu. Venti quickly backtracks and claims that Xingqiu was a fan of Zhenyu at the event in Inazuma. Hu Tao and Xiangling don't believe it, and Chongyun just goes along with his friend.
    • When Hu Tao says that Zhongli is so cultured and refined that he could be an Adeptus in disguise, she asks Xiao if that's possible, to which Xiao prefers to play dumb. As Paimon starts to question him about this, the Traveler has to remind her to play along.
  • Appointing the guest of honour to light the incense at the end of the banquet turns into another game of hot potato as each person who is nominated is praised to high heaven to justify why they should be the one to do it by their nominator, while the nominee scrambles to find reasons to pass on the opportunity.
    • When Xiangling is nominated, Xingqiu, Chongyun and Venti clap and bow with their hands pressed together in a gesture of "please" in unison.
    • Xiangling then passes the nomination to Xingqiu, and then claps for him along with Chongyun and Venti while he protests.
    • Xiao shoots the idea down with a blunt "I refuse" before Chongyun can finish justifying nominating for the Conqueror of Demons, then passes on the nomination to the Traveler, causing everyone in the room to turn towards them. Hu Tao, Xiangling, and Venti cross their arms with smug looks on their faces, and Chongyun follows suit after seeing them do so.
    • The matter is finally settled when Paimon agrees to be the guest of honor. Exclusive to the English translation, Hu Tao warns Paimon not to burn herself... then says "If things go really wrong, here's a two-for-one coupon."
  • After the epilogue, Venti can be found on board the Alcor, chatting with Kazuha. Their conversation eventually veers towards the topic of alcohol and the Crux Fleet's strict policies regarding its consumption. Venti pleads for an exemption since his height doesn't indicate his age and he's a lot older than he looks. Kazuha notes that "there is no room for negotiation on the matter" and that he would not be able to bend the rules either, despite also being of drinking age, because he is a lightweight and thus not allowed to drink on-board as well. Venti loudly protests that he doesn't "get drunk after a few sips" and that he can hold his liquor well.
  • Since Xiangling has the night off to hang out with her friends, Hu Tao tasks Zhongli to help Guoba and Chef Mao at the restaurant. Zhongli gladly agrees to help, since this means he can hang out with Guoba as well, but tries to avoid touching any seafood.

    Fungus Mechanicus
  • In between games, you can spend some time with Kindlejoy and Bongo-Head. There are lots of things you can do with them: feed them, gesture at them in different ways, and make different sounds to see how they react. With the last one, you have the option of choosing to yell "Yaa!" like a hilichurl, sending both the fungi into a panic and causing Paimon to scold you before working to calm them down.

    Warrior's Spirit
  • The Traveler encounters two samurais dueling in the middle of the road, who proceed to attack them on the assumption that they were attempting to steal their ticket to the Warrior's Spirit Swordfighting Exhibition and do not know how to fight. After the samurais are soundly beaten, they apologize, and Paimon can be seen at the side turning her head away and folding her arms in indignation. The camera also follows up with a closer shot of her rolling her eyes.

Almighty Arataki Extraordinary and Exhilarating Extreme Beetle Brawl
  • As usual, Itto calls Paimon "Flying Lavender Melon". However, after Paimon and the Traveler join Itto in taking on Grandmaster Hanakado's team of beetle-fighters and Itto is about to put Paimon up against one of Hanakado's subordinates, he decides to call her something more fearsome than that: "Skycleaving White-Iron Lavender Melon"!
  • Itto's strategy:
Arataki Itto: [to Paimon] Sending you out first is part of my elaborate strategy, y'know! I got my inspiration from a Liyue tale that Shinobu told me! "Face their strongest with your weakest, their weakest with your average, and their average with your strongest. Then you're guaranteed to win two out of three rounds!" You may be talented, but you lack practical battle experience. With all the elite beetle battlers here, I'm afraid to say you're a small fry. By sending a dopey little melon up first, we can get one of their best fighters to waste all their strength on the low-flying fruit, hahaha! We'll make short work of them this time!
Paimon: Um. But according to your logic, if you're planning to face their leader, Grandmaster Hanakado... doesn't that make YOU our weakest fighter?
Arataki Itto: Huh!? That can't be right...
[Akira and Mamoru nod, then shake their heads]
Arataki Itto: Gah... you little twerp! I never said my strategy was EXACTLY the same as the one in the story!

    Windblume's Breath
  • Sucrose's assignment involves getting people to breathe into her test tubes. Yes, you read that correctly. What makes it even funnier? Sucrose is such a weirdo that Paimon, and just about no one else bothers to question it at all!
  • Collei and Sucrose, Genshin's resident shy girls, meet each other and can barely muster up the courage to start a conversation.
  • Cyno is off the clock for this trip, and he's actually far wackier than he lets on:
    • Cyno’s terrible jokes. Of note is everyone’s reactions to his joke about ground nuts: Tighnari and Collei both give him a side eye, Albedo stares ahead blankly, and the Traveler just looks disappointed in him. Albedo later admits that he actually enjoys Cyno's jokes, much to Tighnari's horror.
    • There’s also his insistence on roleplaying as “Cyno the Adventurer” and having Tighnari be a technological consultant and Collei a traveling musician. Clearly, he’s enjoying himself a little too much on this trip.
    • It turns out that he's on this trip to get custom card backings for his Genius Invocation TCG deck. Specifically, he's looking to commission them from Calx. An amused Albedo promptly reveals that Calx is none other than himself, at which Cyno promptly goes into fanboy mode.
    • He can later be found in the overworld at Stormterror's Lair, waiting for a glimpse of the mighty Dragon of the East so he can snap a picture as a reference for Albedo. An incredulous Mika notes how he's even set up a Kamera on a tripod for this purpose before joining him in simply staring at the sky in anticipation.
    • In Act 2, Albedo asks Tighnari and Cyno which of them is the elder one. Cyno answers by folding his arms and declaring himself the eldest in a rare moment of childishness, which Tighnari snarks at him for.
Cyno: In terms of age, I'm the eldest, of course. He just doesn't want to admit it.
Tighnari: But your mental age is younger than that. I daresay even enough to be the youngest sibling. Perhaps I could bring Collei into this happy family to be your elder sister?
Cyno: No...You will never see me admit to being the youngest sibling! Except perhaps as a last-ditch effort to turn the tables in a game of cards.

    A Parade of Providence
  • As Kareena is introducing Tighnari, Cyno, Layla, Faruzan, and Kaveh as representatives of their own Darshans for the Interdarshan Championship, each of them gets a title card and a subtitle, stating their name and their darshan. Who is representing Vahumana? The Wanderer under an alias… "Hat Guy", which gets the same title card treatment.
  • Cyno reveals that he volunteered to take part in the tournament because there's a rare TCG card included in the prize. What's so special about that card? It's holographic. What else does it do? It makes his deck look cooler.
  • Speaking of Cyno, he is still off the clock, which means his jokes are back:
Cyno: It's a pleasant surprise that you're visiting Sumeru again while I'm still on leave. When everything comes together perfectly like this, I call it the Biryani factor: because it's always rice to meat stew again.
  • When Cyno wins the second round, Nilou asks him if he wants to say something after his victory, to which Cyno uses the oportunity to dedicate his victory to Tighnari... by quoting a speech from his favorite novel "King of Invocations". When Alhaitham is asked for his opinion, he simply responds "I have no opinion on King of Invocations".
  • When the Wanderer snatches the Diadem from Layla and then damages Faruzan's robot, Faruzan snarls at him with a highly visible anger vein. The whole thing makes her look like she's about to throw a tantrum at the former Harbinger, who just laughs at her before taking off toward the finish line.
  • When Kaveh smashes the Diadem of Knowledge, Nilou reacts with a shocked gasp... while Alhaitham simply reacts with a deadpan "Oh".
  • At the end of the Event’s last quest, Kaveh asks the Traveler to give the limited edition Genius Invocation TCG card he won to Cyno, since he doesn’t know what else to do with it. Paimon is baffled by him being so casual about it, and sets off with the Traveler to personally have Kaveh give the card himself. Kaveh is stunned, and complains that he is so tired from competing and he wants to rest… And then Paimon swoops in from offscreen and grabs Kaveh by the hair, dragging him with her as he loudly complains!
  • Cyno can't believe his ears when Kaveh tells him that he wants to simply give the the limited edition Genius Invocation TCG card to him, even repeating himself to emphasize that the card is limited-edition. He then proposes to buy the card at the price that the previous limited-edition card sold for instead, to which Kaveh dismisses... until Cyno informs him that the price was 1 million Mora at the very least. Cyno is even willing to go even higher, much to Kaveh's confusion. The scene ends with Cyno doing a dramatic pose while accepting the card.
Cyno: In any case, I, Cyno, will take this precious card, and it shall join the deck of destiny!
    • This only makes the Traveler and Paimon wonder how much Cyno's salary is worth if he can afford to spend that much money in his hobby. Doubles as a Heartwarming moment, but also a bit of hypocrisy from Kaveh when he advises Cyno to not spend that much money into his hobbies to avoid getting in debt, Cyno takes it, but asks Kaveh if he's saying it from personal experiencenote .
  • After the Tournament, Nilou and Faruzan join Candace and Dehya's shopping tour, and two Akademiya students approach Faruzan to ask her to be their teacher. When Faruzan tells then that she is from the Semiotics faculty, one of them quickly backs off because she considers the subject boring, while the other stays because she wants to be Faruzan's apprentice no matter what she is teaching. Faruzan still considers it a win-win.
  • During dinner between Kaveh, Tighnari, Cyno and Collei, Kaveh starts complaining about Alhaitham being a mood-killer, what he would say if he were there, and how dare he skip dinner on the rare occasion Kaveh is able to treat them. Tighnari and Collei comment that Kaveh can't stop bringing up Alhaitham every time they go to eat together. Cyno then tells them that Alhaitham has been with them all night... because he lives rent-free in their hearts.
  • It's later revealed that not only Alhaitham was aware of the true nature of the crown, Wanderer enrolled in the tournament on Nahida's orders since she also had suspicions on Sachin's real motivations. Nahida later tells the Traveler, Paimon and Wanderer that he is still going to attend classes at the Akademiya under the penname of "Hat Guy", to Wanderer's chagrin. When Nahida asks him if he doesn't like the name, Wanderer just scoffs, but doesn't deny anything.
    • Before Nahida asks him that question, the Wanderer tells Nahida that she can stop calling him that nickname, implying he prefers being called by his actual name instead of Hat Guy. This can be extremely funny if you gave the Wanderer an Unfortunate Name for him.
  • If the Traveler chooses to not tell Kaveh about what happened to his father and Sachin's involvement with his death, it's Alhaitham who tracks him down and informs Kaveh about it. It's a rare moment of Alhaitham showing how much he cares about his roommate, and Kaveh sincerely thanking him... and it immediately returns back to their usual bickering when Alhaitham demands Kaveh repeat his gratitude a couple more of times just to troll him.
  • After the whole event, the player can go speak to Dori about the crown and, after Paimon tells her that Kaveh shattered it, Dori absolutely flips out because she was planning to buy it dirt cheap once the Akademiya decided to get rid of it. Paimon remarks on why Dori was being uncharacteristically charitable while Dori, fuming over how Kaveh destroyed the crown, intends to force him to pay his loan to her with interest.

    The Recollector's Path
  • The Traveler and Paimon are accompanying Sorush around as she is tested by various trials given to her by Zurvan. When one such trial takes them to the spot where they previously met Rashnu (in the prerequisite quest), Paimon and Sorush discuss Rashnu. Rashnu is pretty quiet and likes to sleep, but Paimon remembers that she wasn't happy when they woke her up before, and goes on to say...
Paimon: Paimon heard that the quieter someone is, the worse it gets when they get angry. Who knows what Rashnu is like when she's enraged...
Sorush: Then, should that be true, my Yasnapati is the one we should fear the most, yes?
Paimon: Huh? Oh, Paimon knows (him/her) the best. Though (Traveler) isn't one for talking, (he/she) is still super nice. Right?
Traveler: I am about to get mad for real. Rawr.
Paimon: See. Not scary at all.
    ...OR....
    Traveler: ...
Paimon: ...Okay, (Traveler), you gotta say something! The silence IS actually making Paimon nervous...

    Duel! The Summoners' Summit!
  • When the Traveler and Charlotte go to Inazuma, they run into Ei and Miko, the latter who had beaten the former in the semi-finals of the Inazuma TCG tournament. After your discussion with them, you can hear a conversation between them where Miko tells Ei how one of her editors fears she will eat him if he doesn't submit his drafts on time. Miko admits to stoking that fear to improve his productivity, and you can tell by her tone that she finds it amusing, even if she'd never carry out such a threat.
  • When Kirara and Hu Tao meet, Hu Tao asks Kirara on how flexible her company's delivery terms are (in terms of goods), much to the courier's discomfort.
Hu Tao: Say, Kirara, how flexible is your company in terms of delivering different types of goods? How about a living person? And what about someone who's more in-between alive and dead?
    Kirara: (flabbergasted) Huh?! Uh....
  • Cyno and his jokes strike again. He joins the Traveler, Paimon, Charlotte, and Kirara in trying to catch the card back thieves. They suspect that stolen card backs are inside a package Kirara is delivering, but they can't open it to see for themselves; Komaniya Express takes a dim view of their couriers opening customers' mail. Instead, they plan for Kirara to deliver the package while everybody else watches the exchange from a hiding spot nearby. She thinks that she can get the recipient to open it in front of her, at which point she'll be able to see what was inside and signal the others with her tails.
Kirara: If they turn out to be just an ordinary customer and the package doesn't contain the card backs, then I'll lower both of my tails. That'll mean you can just stay hidden. But if they turn out to be the thieves we're after, then I'll...
    Cyno: Lay down.
Charlotte: Huh? Why would she do that?
Cyno: It'd be a signal that we need to lay down the law...
  • Kirara is the only one not rendered speechless by the Cyno joke, protesting that she's not going to lie on the ground. So Cyno suggests that she uses her tails to pound her back. You know, as a signal that she's "found the backs" they're looking for. While most of the group is extremely unamused, Charlotte actually chuckles.
Charlotte: This is the first time I've met someone as creative with their words as I am! Have you ever considered a career in writing news headlines, Cyno?
  • Once the stakeout begins, Paimon points out that the recipient accepting the package way out in the middle of the desert seems pretty shady. Cyno agrees, but is willing to wait until they see Kirara "tail us what to do." Charlotte laughs, while the Traveler and Paimon say nothing and die a little more inside.
  • After it's all over, Charlotte is trying to think of a headline for her story. She begins with "Not-So-Genius Thieves Behind Mysterious Treasure-Chest Card Back Plot Finally..." but can't figure out how to finish it. Cyno chimes in with "'Got decked...' You get it, like cards...and punching?" Charlotte enthusiastically approves.

    Secret Summer Paradise
  • During the "Petrifying Gaze" play, Paimon suggests destroying the wraith props to free the Lone Hydro Eidolon from petrification, which prompts this amusing response from the narrator through an announcement speaker:
Narrator: Ahem, I want to remind you that if you destroy the surroundings here, you'll need to pay ten times the cost in compensation... Someone as wise as you should be able to find an elegant way to overcome such obstacles without using brute force!
Paimon: What kinda rule is that... How can we help the Water Droplet get over there without getting rid of those things?

    Waterborne Poetry
  • After reading everybody's riddles, Paimon decides to write one herself. Her riddle is "What's got no wings but flies in the air, never gets tired of floating up there, so full of Mora it comes out the nose, but in the sea glug glug glug down it goes!" Everybody answers Paimon as she perfectly fits the bill. Becomes a heartwarming moment as though Paimon states the answer to be the Jade Chamber, when Xingqiu suggests adding "The Traveler's companion and talkative guide, a praiseworthy presence always by their side." to it, Paimon decides to accept herself as the answer having appreciated the compliment.
  • Diona makes yet another attempt to make a terrible alcoholic beverage using Jueyun Chilis, slime condensate, and frog legs. She also has Chongyun try it when he doubts her claims of being unable to. Although uneasy at first, he does try it when he sees Xiao gulp it down. The result is him praising the drink with a sudden Motor Mouth, catching Diona off guard before the Traveler suggests to her to fix him a cold beverage to calm him down.
  • At the end of the story, when the gang reunites, Xingqiu tries to bribe Chongyun. Chongyun, however, having been sworn to secrecy over Callirhoe's identity and story...
Xingqiu: Chongyun, how about you tell me what happened on the sly? I've just remembered that I heard about a haunted house recently that you'll definitely want to check out! I'm willing to bet that even your pure-yang spirit won't be able to scare off these demons!
Chongyun: I appreciate the gesture, but no thanks. Not this time. And I'm starting to think that... maybe this pure-yang spirit isn't such a bad thing after all...
Xingqiu: Huh? What the... What's gotten into you!? Okay, that confirms it! I call shenanigans, something big definitely went down here!
  • After the event story is over, Hu Tao can be found in Liyue Harbour talking to Jifang (the boss of Wanwen Bookhouse) about publishing that book of poems... Except Hu Tao has seriously jumped the gun and is trying to convince Jifang to publish the book with only "Fifteen Tenderloin Steaks" and "Square Meals In the Basement" as her showpieces. Jifang is... Not impressed. And then the conversation caps off with...
Hu Tao: Don't you worry! I guarantee you, when this anthology comes out, it will take the world by storm! Gods and ghosts alike will weep! As a matter of fact, I heard a ghost crying on the way here. If you don't believe me, I can bring it over?
Jifang: ...There'll be no need for that.

    Graph Adversarial Technology Experiment Log
  • At the start of the event, the Traveler and Paimon run into Lepine-Pauline who immediately asks for their photo. The two figure they could charge her if the photo is for commercial use, which she is more than willing to oblige as she offers a half a million mora. Paimon's reaction to that amount is understandable, but the kicker is the Traveler imitating Paimon's expressions and movements.
  • The fact that a group of thieves managed to fool the Gardemek's image recognition by dressing up as Blubberbeasts is quite a mental image. Only...
  • After the event ends, the player can find Lepine-Pauline speaking with Charlotte and begging her for the details. Charlotte informs her that the story she based her entire project on was nothing but a work of fanfiction for The Steambird, one that was published as a False Flag Operation in conjunction with the Maison Gardiennage to trick criminals into thinking they could outwit the Gardemeks with disguises (which wouldn't work and would only make them more suspicious). Lepine-Pauline is utterly crushed because she just blew her life's savings on a misunderstanding and is so distraught that she considers attacking a Gardemek just to get sent to the Fortress of Meropide so she won't have to pay her debt. Fortunately, Charlotte offers to tell her colleagues at The Steambird about Lepine-Pauline's project, which could have extremely useful applications for the journalists. But just as Charlotte rekindles Lepine-Pauline's hopes, the inventor immediately contemplates taking out another bank loan, despite the Traveler trying to tell her not to put all her eggs in one basket again.
    • Charlotte even states that a few criminals were already arrested because of the story including "Phantom Blubberbeast", "Titanic Redcrown Finch", and "Specterman".

    Roses And Muskets
  • After the Traveler agrees to help Xavier with his film, he offers to give him/her a "big, warm hug!" The Traveler is not too keen on this idea.
  • At the end of the first day, the player can find Xavier and Chiori in front of the main fountain in the Court of Fontaine, where we get this lovely moment of snark from the seamstress:
Xavier: Ah, I see it now! What lies before me... is a whole world of hope!
Chiori: ...No, what lies before you is the fountain. I hope you can start seeing clearly, or you'll end up taking a dip in it!
  • During Chevreuse's investigation at Fleuve Cendre, she had to bribe Emerald with some Pate de Fruit in order to extract some information from her. You can ask Chevreuse to give them some Pate de Fruit too, to which Chevreuse responded by saying that she had none of it left... only to reveal that she had other snacks such as fries, fried chicken, and onion rings, which she proceeds to snack on them without giving the Traveler and Paimon a single bite, because (in her own words) eating junk food is her responsibility and basically tells the two to stick to a nutritious diet. The reactions from the two, especially the one where they are denied an opportunity, are absolutely hilarious.
  • On the last day of takes, things start to go haywire from technical issues to the record of their film suddenly disappearing (for reasons that are explained by the climax of the event), causing Furina to get increasingly exasperated.
  • In a case of Mood Whiplash, when Paimon emerges from hiding to show she caught Morris's confession on Kamera, she does so with a goofy "Hehe~!" that leaves Morris utterly dumbfounded. Then, just after Chevreuse blocks Veronique's bullet and forces her into a standoff, Paimon is left floating between them, awkwardly looking back and forth at the two gun-toting women.
  • The weapon you acquire from the event is called the "Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword". Yes, with the quote marks. It's just a cardboard claymore (albiet a rather well-made one) implied to be made by the Melusines, and its special quality is that it was enhanced to be waterproof. The refinement material is called the "Super-Duper Invincible Shining Sparkly Magic Crystal", which is... Literally just fancy-looking duct tape. The whole thing is hilarious and honestly rather adorable, and it's actually a solid weapon gameplay-wise.

Arataki Blazing Armor Beetle Battle Boot Camp!
  • While Itto and Grandmaster Hanakado are in Guyun Stone Forest, they run into a local Geovishap Hatchling named "Crystal Tornado" and send their Onikabutos at it. Said Geovishap (after an initial confusion, complete with tilting its head) knocks over the beetles just by stomping its foot from several meters away. Then, Guoba waddles up to it and says something, and the Geovishap runs away. It turns out that, in a previous encounter, Guoba bashed it on the head and it's been scared of him ever since. Itto and Hanakado think that he must have some kind of mental powers that help him with catching crabs and decide to try and learn from him. Guoba is understandably very confused.
  • When Itto finally faces Guoba, the bear uses a device made by Cloud Retainer called a Bloom Pruner which can take on the form of an Onikabuto. Itto only wins because the Bloom Pruner was using 0.1% of its full power, and even it would struggle against Crystal Tornado. Realizing the gap in power is insurmountable with his Onikabuto, Itto somehow comes to the conclusion that he needs to build some kind of Onikabuto mech for his pet beetle to pilot to even the odds. When he voices his determination to raise enough funds for the entire gang to study engineering in Liyue, Shinobu briefly asks if Itto is some kind of impostor.

Vibrant Harriers Aloft in Spring Breeze
  • While accompanying Gaming to Chenyu Vale, if the player hasn't started the Chenyu's Blessings of Sunken Jade World Quest Series, the Traveler and Paimon get sucked into Fujin's realm anyway. After returning to the overworld, Gaming expresses concern as to where they went, and Paimon just says it's hard to explain. The event then continues normally.
  • When the Traveler and Paimon go to Mount Aocang to get a kite made, they find Yaoyao and Shenhe trying to wake Ganyu up. Shenhe takes out a bottle of some minty liquid and pours it on Ganyu's horns before the others can stop her. Ganyu's reaction is adorable and hilarious.
  • When the Traveler and Paimon get to work on making their kite, they decide to make a Paimon kite. The traveler is given the choice of three different expressions for Kite Paimon with each one being a furnishing item acquired at the end of the cutscene depending on which is chosen. Each of them provides humor both in their creation and their item description.
    • Choosing the pleased expression grants "The Title of Champion Is Mine!" which everybody remarks at how confident the kite looks as if it had already won the competition. The kicker for this one is in the description which says not to fly it within any Fontainian cities during the first three days of the month.
    • Choosing the afraid expression grants "Help!!!" which Gaming finds hilarious and points out that whether the kite flies in the air or falls to the ground, the expression still fits. The description even questions why somebody like Paimon who can naturally fly would be afraid of flying.
    • Choosing the guilty expression gives "N—No Way!" which Shenhe states to be very accurate to Paimon and brings up how the Traveler was missing some meat and Paimon had a similar expression. The item description even contemplates that stealing dessert can't be the worst thing Paimon has ever done.
  • After a Jade Chamber kite from Houzhang and Jiehu flies into Xianyun's mountain, she goes to finds them. The two of them, thinking she doesn't recognize them, try to act like normal humans who have no connection to the kite only for Traveler and Paimon to reveal who they are. Of course, Xianyun reveals she Knew It All Along.
  • When escorting his father to Liyue Harbor, Gaming suddenly calls out to what he thinks are bandits. Cue Houzhang and Jiehu stepping into view, with scarves tied around their mouths in the manner of Treasure Hoarders. It's a good thing that Yip Tak has had no real experience with actual robbers, because with acting like theirs, they're not going to be winning the Furina Award for another few decades:
Houzhang (Masked Bandit 1): ...It appears that one's movements were overly conspicuous.
Jiehu (Masked Bandit 2): Enough of your musings. Focus... Focus on the matter at hand. Present your exquisite ornaments at once!
Houzhang (Masked Bandit 1): Indeed! Bring them forth readily and without protest.
  • It becomes obvious that when they are trying to show off their familial love Xianyun and Shenhe hadn't actually planned what they were going to talk about and Xianyun quickly realizes that she made a mistake in forgetting that Shenhe's way of thinking isn't exactly normal to other people. Adding to the humor is Yip Tak's reaction to their conversation. When Shenhe talks about her work at Wanmin Restaurant, she only mentions Guoba and how he doesn't talk, which gets Yip Tak to interpret this as Shenhe only having one friend who can't even talk. He does begin to express relief when Xianyun suggests performing some activities together, only to do a Spit Take when hears Shenhe's idea of fun being carry stones up and down the mountain from dawn until dusk, picking herbs to eat for dinner along the way. In the end though, the plan still works even if not in the way Xianyun intended.
  • Some funny conversations can be found by the characters that spawned in the open world once you completed the third part of the story:
    • Keqing and Xianyun can be in Liyue Harbor where Xianyun asks Keqing to distribute some tea to the Millileth for their job at keeping things secure during the festival. While this is an act of charity by the adeptus, it's mainly to get rid of the excess tea she had been suckered into buying at Yilong Wharf and had already become sick of trying to drink away. Keqing, who obviously never saw this happen, simply takes this kindness at face value, never suspecting that it's actually just Xianyun trying to save face and salvage what she can from this Money Dumb episode of hers.
    • Shenhe tries to go to work whilst wearing the fancy dress that Cloud Retainer had made for her, thinking that it won't get dirty easily because the main color of the dress is black. However, she was stopped by Xiangling, who told her that it's inappopriate. Shenhe, being Shenhe, doesn't understand why Xiangling said that and needed Ganyu's help to understand that a personalized tailor made dress isn't a suitable uniform for work.
  • During the epilogue of the event, the Traveler and Paimon witness Furina interacting with Zhongli and Hu Tao, and make a bet on whether Hu Tao has roped Furina into being one of her clients or if Zhongli is giving Furina a tour. And at first, it seems that the Traveler ends up winning the bet, and Paimon reveals that she keeps a hidden stash of mora… at the bottom of her shoe!
  • When talking about the shopping, Clorinde says that she didn't fall for the tourist market scams because who would buy so many tea boxes? It turns out that Neuvillette bought a lot of tea because buying ten boxes would be cheaper, so he gave his excess tea to Wriothesley. Apparently, Dragon Sovereigns and Adepti can't resist sales tricks.
  • When discussing how Zhongli seemed to miss meeting Neuvillette, Hu Tao remarks that she thinks the two would get along well. Given Neuvillette's identity as the Hydro Sovereign, and his animosity towards the Archons, and how Zhongli, the Geo Archon, seemed to be intentionally avoiding him... well, Zhongli's expression says it all.
    Zhongli: Is that so?
  • Neuvillette reveals that he used his free half-day for a ceramics course in Liyue, and one of the items he did was a ceramic tile with a legal codex for Wriothesley, who didn't even remember that throw-away joke he had with Clorinde. Then Neuvillette explains that this was an awkward attempt to partake in socialization with the reference, which Wriothesley responds by sarcastically saying that he is going to put it in his exhibition hall at the fortress. Another thing he made in the ceramics class is a ridiculously adorable dragon-shaped soup ladle that he gifts the Traveler.
  • In order to convince Furina to go with Navia and Clorinde back to Fontaine before it gets dark, Hu Tao whispers a scary story into Furina's ear. The former Hydro Archon's scream of terror is hilarious, as is her begging Navia and Clorinde to take her with them.

    Reciever of Friends From Afar
  • Day 1:
    • While in Liyue, Lynette apparently tried Black-Back Perch Stew, stating that the name made it sound bland only to be surprised by how spicy it was. According to Lyney, Lynette had a mouthful which made her have trouble speaking for the rest of the day (which Freminet notes isn't too different from usual). To further this point, after the trio request an order, Lynette asks the Traveler not to make the dish spicy, showing just how much the stew got to her.
    • After serving The Palace Jewels to the three House of the Hearth siblings, the trio offer the Traveler and Paimon to join them in dining on it. This being work though, Traveler and Paimon opt to be professional and let them know that the customer should dig in first. When Lynette, who thinks the sauce looks too intense, and Freminet, who thinks it necessary to wait until somebody else takes the first bite, hesitate to start, Lyney takes it upon himself to try the dish. The three like it so much that they applaud the Traveler for their cooking. Lynette especially ends up liking it as she devours the whole dish while her brothers are distracted praising the Traveler's cooking, leaving nothing left for Paimon.
  • Day 2:
    • On the second day of the event, Yanxiao complains about scholars who think they know more about cooking than him because they've read some books on the subject, specifically noting ones who complain that it's not exactly the same as the old traditional recipe they know. His spiel is interspersed with shots of Faruzan approaching.
    • It's also worth noting that this rant describes Zhongli beat for beat. Who's going to tell Yanxiao that he's badmouthing his land's Archon?
    • Her traveling companions are none other than Layla and Dori, the latter of whom requests something quick to prepare and without seafood, under the logic that the three have been at sea for a while, and that Layla looks like she's about to faint from hunger (in reality, she's just trying to keep costs down, which the Traveler and Paimon pretty much instantly see through). Yanxiao notes that these requirements essentially take out most of Wangshu Inn's menu, but he does manage to break out a recipe called "Trembling Strings and Rushing Reeds" - which, due to the precision required in its preparation, costs thirty thousand Mora.
    • During the meal, Faruzan offhandedly mentions that scholars have to master at least twenty languages before graduating from the Akademiya, which causes an Oh, Crap! reaction from Layla. Paimon comments that she forgot Faruzan was a Haravatat scholar (as Layla is from Rtawahist, the requirement might not apply to her Darshan).
  • Day 3:
    • Itto and Shinobu visit the Inn after running into Ayato. Of course, Itto still doesn't know who Ayato is in reality, to the point Shinobu is visibly tense around both.
    • To celebrate his most recent gig, Itto offers to buy lunch for everyone, opting for the cheapest dish from the menu. Unknown to everyone, said dish contains tofu as the main ingredient, something Itto is deathly allergic to. When they consider convincing Itto to order something else, it's heard from outside that Itto will declare that dish as the symbol of his friendship with Ayato, so the only solution they find is to fill Itto with appetizers and finish the dish before he can.
    • Ayato calling Itto “Bro” while still using refined vocabulary. On top of it, Itto gets emotional and excitedly agrees.
Ayato: Excellent choice, Itto. I’m no fan of culinary ostentation either. Heh… Sometimes a bro just knows, hmmm?
Itto: A bro just knows… yes, a bro just knows! Bros don’t suppose, 'cause bros just knows!
    • To distract Itto from having a bit, Shinobu tells him to respect the etiquette, something Itto knows Shinobu doesn't like to do, and then Paimon tells him a dramatic story of the dish while the other three eat as much as they can.
    • What makes this funnier is that Ayato immediately finds out about the plan and covertly helps them dispose of the dish before Itto can eat it, claiming that he wants to share it with his family in Inazuma. For once, Thoma gets some decent food instead of bizarre combinations made by Ayato.
  • Day 4:
    • When Amber, Eula and Mika all show up for a meal, the Traveler and Paimon ask them what they want, but all three tell them "anything goes". Needless to say, this exasperates both the Traveler and Yanxiao because "anything goes" is the last thing a chef wants to hear. The Traveler eventually comes up with a custom dish, though Paimon still sounds ticked off when she explains that it's just a bunch of "basic ingredients, simply cooked".

    Alchemical Ascension
  • When the Traveler and Paimon decide to pay Lisa a visit she immediately asks them to help her with her workload. Both of them figure she is just trying to pawn her work off to them. Sure enough, once they have accepted to help with the potion shop she has started, she sits down and has them do all the work.
  • When Venti and Diona come to visit, their reason is that Diona is looking for ingredients for a new cocktail with Venti joining with interest in trying it. Given that Diona is always trying to make a cocktail that tastes terrible and always fails, and the fact that the Traveler and Paimon are not even remotely surprised by him helping for alcohol, Venti knows what Diona's deal is and is taking advantage of it. Even Diona is able to figure out Venti's game.
  • Diluc arrives to the festival to find a potion that will boost productivity, reasoning that most of his customers want to get their jobs done to make the most of their nights at the taverns, so he can pair the potions with his wines. When his order is ready, Diluc decides to taste it himself. Then it comes to mind that Diluc would be more interested to use the potions as well, considering his other occupations at night.
  • Kirara and Gorou arrive at the shop upon hearing about the Traveler and Paimon running it. There, Lisa decides to formally introduce herself to them, and she even takes note of their characteristics to where she is reminded of Razor which she expresses interest in introducing them to before inviting the two of them to some tea. Kirara is more than happy to join. Gorou... clearly can't help but feel that Lisa might be Mondstat's equivilant of Yae Miko. He even further compares her to Yae Miko (and Kokomi) when the Traveler tells him that Lisa is a Guardian Mage, which he is unable to stop thinking about during the entire visit.

    Feline Fortress Furrdyssey
  • The final cat of the event is a big cat with a scar and a feisty attitude whom Paimon decides to give the name Sir Pouncelot. After bonding with the cat, Albedo arrives and reveals that Sir Pouncelot belongs to the Knights of Favonius and that Klee named the cat Sir Pouncelot. That fact that both Paimon and Klee had the same name idea is both sweet and amusing.
