Mondstadt

    Amber
  • During the gliding exam, a random Knight of Favonius calls down the Traveler and demands to see their gliding license. One of the responses? Baron Bunny ate it.
  • Amber mentions near the end of the quest that she passed her exam on the first try, but later also mentions that she always gets nervous whenever she has to take the exam again. Paimon naturally questions the contradictory claim, only for Amber to clarify that she's had to retake the exam 15 times because she keeps getting her license revoked for violating gliding regulations. Paimon notes that you should probably make sure to keep the rules in mind more than Amber does.
    Kaeya
  • Kaeya explaining that he inherited his eyepatch from his pirate grandfather and it's a solid proof that they are related by blood. When the player character still doubts him, Kaeya then likens it to how children inherit hairstyles from their parents.
  • Paimon nearly loses her mind when Kaeya reveals that his grandfather never hid pirate treasure to begin with. Meanwhile, the Traveler is facepalming because they never believed Kaeya to start with.
  • After Kaeya promises not to trick them the same way again, the Traveler can point out that this means he'll try tricking them another way. Kaeya pretends he didn't hear that part and leaves.
    Jean
  • You have to fill in for Jean's regular duties, which involve basically running errands for some people in Monsdadt, like having to find the pet cat from Cat's Tail after it wandered off.
    Traveler: Do you mean Diona?
  • The surprise party for Jean at the end of The Master's Day Off leads to several funny moments from the Mondstadt characters:
    • Kaeya pretends the Traveler organized the whole party, even though the subterfuge involved was obviously his doing, because he was embarrassed.
    • Diluc acts like he was coerced into providing his tavern for free, but drops the act partway through his "grumbling about the Knights" routine. He also provides drinks for free, which he quickly comes to regret. Venti at least goes through at least thirty seven glasses, and he's implied to not be the only one.
    • Speaking of: of all the characters who appear in the story, Venti is the only one who doesn't actually do anything to help Jean - he just happens to be around and also in need of help when the Traveler is taking care of Margaret's commission. Despite this, he crashes the surprise party anyway, and when everyone else talks about which of Jean's tasks they took care of, he loudly and gloriously... talks about how the Traveler found a missing cat instead. He then spends the rest of the party taking advantage of the open bar despite not being a Knight, getting absolutely sloshed in the process. Given that Venti is both the guardian god of Mondstadt yet looks like an underage teenager, him both blatantly freeloading and getting totally wasted Crosses the Line Twice into hilarious.
Venti: (slurring his words) I hereby declare that every son and daughter of the City of the Wind must be compelled to taste the finest of wines... HERE'S TO GOOD WINE!
    • Amber also acts in a way that makes Paimon suspect she's drunk too. In her case, she gets completely obsessed with the food the Traveler cooked, threatening them into teaching her their cooking secrets. Then she falls back into her food with - in the translation - an actual, voice acted "om nom nom!"
    • Lisa, evidently not content with flirting with the Traveler herself, blatantly tries to engineer a romantic moment with them and Jean. It works, but the moment doesn't end up romantic.
    Mona
  • At the beginning of her quest, you need to help Mr. Zhu find his lost ring, which he describes as being like a very precious heirloom of his that his mother gave him. After you find it, he thanks you profusely... right before mentioning that this is the 253rd ring his mother gave him, leaving both the Traveler and Paimon slack-jawed.
  • Mona makes the trip to Mondstadt to meet with the successor to her master's friend, and eagerly anticipates the opportunity to match wits with a rival and compare notes. Unfortunately for her, the person her astrology told her to meet? It's Klee. And what she inherited from Alice wasn't astrology.
  • After helping Klee recover the box Mona was looking for, the Traveler returns to find her reading a book out of boredom. Mona complains about how she thought the book would have astrology notes in it but it turned out to be some tacky diary, and then, upon receiving the box, she notices it's unlocked. And empty. When she frantically asks Klee what was supposed to be inside the box, Klee cheerfully reveals it to be the book Mona was reading. Mona promptly implodes from horror and embarrassment, because she wasn't supposed to read what was in the box, and having actually read said diary in depth she completely understands why. And as she's already demonstrated, it's impossible to lie to a proper astrologist, meaning her master will know she read it. So she decides she has no other choice but to hide out in Mondstadt until her master dies of old age.
    Razor
  • The quest starts with the Traveler being sent to investigate Wolvendom, and Paimon gets the idea to play tour guide:
Paimon: This whole area has been untouched for ages. Even the slimes here are huge! Like those big slimes over there right now!
(huge slimes in the back casually hop up to Paimon, seguing into a boss fight)
  • Razor also has a tendency to make up nicknames for people. Near the beginning of the quest he talks about a "Burny Girl" Who set a whole hillside on fire trying to help him catch boar. The Traveler and Paimon falsely assume this to be Amber because she is a Pyro Vison but she doesn't even know Razor. On the other hand, a certain chef was visiting Mondstadt around the same time...
    • Later stories have clarified that the girl in question was Klee. Setting a whole hillside on fire is small potatoes for her.
    Venti
  • When you discover that Little Timmie's "imaginary friend" is a ruin guard, Paimon is terrified, so the Traveler tells her to say her "favorite line" about "exploring the area ahead of us later." (What she says when you get too close to the unreleased parts of Teyvat.)
    Albedo
  • This dialogue option, and Sucrose's response:
Sucrose: Hey, aren't you the legendary Traveler? The one who repelled Stormterror?
Traveler: And I don't even charge for autographs.
    Sucrose: Ah! Thank you!
  • Rosaria is intrigued at Paimon's ability to appear and disappear at will, comparing it to how a criminal can leave the scene without a trace. Paimon is clearly offended by that analogy.
Paimon: You're so suspicious! Why is Paimon a criminal in your example?
  • In order to observe the Traveler's elemental powers in active use, Albedo asks them to fight some slimes. He also proposes that, if it's not challenging enough, that instead, they fight six Oceanids. Paimon (and the player most likely) is quick to agree to fighting the slimes.
    Klee
  • Klee calls the Abyss Mage that stole her treasure "Mr. Fluffball".
  • In the mission to find the Abyss Mage, you need to weave your way through a hall of lasers that are just high enough to be unable to jump over... but they've been arranged so that Klee can just walk under them like they're not even there.
  • When you finally catch up to the Abyss Mage, he starts gloating about how he's stolen Klee's treasure and that there's nothing they can do about it... Smash Cut to a pulled-back shot of the "treasure" blowing up right in his face:
Abyss Mage: Now what have we here - A flame symbol? Mwuahahaha...
    Eula
  • while training at Mondstadt's plaza, Eula tells the Traveler and Paimon that nobles have a distinct way of speaking. Paimon says she already learned some "unique conversation"...and then proceeds to quote Eula's signature line (note that the English VA does it more mockingly than the other languages)
Paimon: Mark my words, vengeance will be mine!!! (said haughty and mockingly)
    Eula: facepalms
  • During the training session on Dragonspine, she's one of the few to call out Paimon on uselessly floating around while the Traveler completed her challenge. One of the player's choices in defending Paimon can claim that it's her own way of fighting.
Traveler: Maybe that's just Paimon's style?

Liyue

    Xiangling
  • When the Traveler first meets Xiangling, she pulls them into a bush and gestures for them to keep quiet. The two peer up from the bushes to see a group of wild boars, prompting Xiangling to start drooling and for the Traveler to give a freaked out look at her.

    Tartaglia
  • The Traveler and Paimon meet a little boy named Teucer, who's come from Snezhnaya looking for his brother. Teucer's brother gave him a giant bag of money, which he gives to the Traveler and Paimon; Teucer was told that if he was on his own and met a nice person, to give that person the money so that they would take care of him. It's enough to make the Traveler and Paimon feel guilty about accepting so much. Right after learning that Teucer is Childe's little brother, Paimon has a change of heart:
Paimon: Cool! Suddenly, Paimon doesn't feel so bad about taking Teucer's money!
  • Also, when Childe ignores the Traveler to talk to Teucer and finally acknowledges them, Paimon (in the Japanese and Chinese versions) sarcastically calls him "big brother Childe~" with a cutesy drawl.
  • Watching Childe fumble awkwardly about with trying to maintain the charade of being "the greatest toy salesman in Liyue" to his little brother in the earlier half of his story is gut-bustingly hilarious to watch. Even funnier is how he manages to eventually make it work out in the end:
    • Showing off his skills to the Treasure Hoarders causes them to recall that their boss had some kind of debt, match it with his offer of toys for 600,000, and conclude that he was speaking in some kind of insider code.
    • In the middle of a speech to new Fatui Skirmisher recruits, he suddenly realizes Teucer is there, and the violent Rousing Speech he was giving awkwardly transitions into something more benign about business and economics, and the recruits are left scratching their heads in confusion when he claims that any disobedience would get them kicked out of his toy company. He then saves the trainwreck of a speech by offering a hands-on training session, which they immediately and eagerly eat up since fighting a Harbinger is a rare experience.
Childe': Her Majesty expects of you loyalty, ruthlessness, and meticulousness. For the trials that we face are harsh, and our enemies are like...
(Childe spots Teucer and Paimon waving at him, while the Traveler stares at him)
Childe: ...Ahem, like kites and rattle drums...Who shall become redoubtable foes of Mr. Cyclops in the marketplace of Liyue...
  • Eventually, his attempt to distract Teucer with a trip to a "Toymaking Institute" (actually a Ruin Guard research facility) inevitably ends with them all trapped inside with the only way out being a room full of hostile ruin guards. Childe and the Traveller ready themselves for a tense fight... and then Teucer pipes in, reminding them all that as far as he knows, "Mr. Cyclops" is a heroic kids toy and that this is a fun Santa-esque workshop. When he realizes that, thanks to his own lies, he'll have to somehow keep up the act and fight a whole room of threats at the same time, Childe gives a hilarious look of utter exasperation.
  • Tour of Liyue Harbor's wharf, "Paimon-style":
Paimon: Paimon is kinda the Traveler's exclusive personal tour guide, but... since this is a special occasion, Paimon can make an exception to help Teucer get to know the place. This place is Liyue's commercial hub, and it's been the biggest port in the seven nations ever since it was decided that Liyue would take on the world through trade. Other than merchant vessels, many fishing boats and industrial transports dock here to replenish their, uh, fishery supplies and daily necessie— necessities, which, thanks to the... immense... throughput capacity of the wharf... Um...
Traveler: Paimon, Teucer won't understand a word you're saying.../How about a topic kids would be interested in...
Paimon: Uh... Yeah, Paimon can't remember how the rest goes anyway...Well, guess Paimon will just have to explain this Paimon-style! So, this harbor is like Teyvat's mouth, and it's the biggest mouth you've ever seen. All the nations float their boats over the sea into the mouth. The harbor goes om-nom-nom-nom-nom and has a taste of each boat and the cargo it has on board. Then, Liyue Harbor rubs its big round belly in satisfaction, because it's all stuffed full of delicious Mora!

    Zhongli
  • The Traveler finds Zhongli in a conversation with a group of archaeologists about Rex Lapis. As in, they're lecturing him about how little he knows about Rex Lapis. You can't help but laugh as you watch Zhongli struggle to try and figure out a way to correct them without offending them.
    • The theories about the First Mora. Apparently, Mora also serves as a magical catalyst for the enhancement of weaponry, and one of them believes that the First Mora would have been the most powerful, and suggests it was used to enhance a sword and dagger, whose wielders would become people of great significance. Zhongli is noticeably dispirited when he tries to convince them that Mora was meant just as a way to measure a contract's worth, and that The First Mora was basically just another coin.
    • The fact that as Rex Lapis, he apparently built a house completely out of Mora. The archaeologists believe it had something to do with Mora's special properties. Zhongli offers a simpler answer: it was simply the material he found easiest to use.
  • Paimon suggests that the Traveler climb up the tree in Nantianmen in order to get a better look at the surroundings. Then, she suddenly remembers that she flies, meaning that she should be the one to go up the tree.
  • Jiu, the little girl that could be found next to the Dragon-Queller tree, is revealed to be Azhdaha's evil half complete with a deep, growling voice. This implies that the Traveler, Paimon, nor anyone else saw anything odd about a little girl having the voice of a grown man.

    Ganyu
  • Ganyu's status as an Almighty Janitor means that three people are assigned to her tasks while Ganyu is off running an errand, and they still can't manage to get everything done. The end of her story quests has the three secretaries begging for Ganyu to free them from her workload.
  • Cloud Retainer telling the Traveler about Ganyu's childhood to the point Ganyu gets embarrassed and runs off.
Cloud Retainer: Hehe... Little Ganyu loved when the horns on the top of her head were caressed. When one was still taking care of her, one was pestered most often to touch her horns. She was else-wise loath to sleep...
    Paimon: Whoa...
Cloud Retainer: Plump she was, back then! Why, when she stumbled while we ascended the mountain, she would roll down to the bottom like a little ball...
    Paimon: A—haha!
Cloud Retainer: ...The day Ganyu bumped into a pilgrim was the first time she saw a real human in the flesh. So fearful she was that she hid in a rock's cleft for two days and nights. One found her wailing of a monster she had seen...
    Paimon: Hahaha...
Ganyu: CLOUD RE—TAI—NER! *sigh* Forget it. It's about time for my training. I will take my leave!
Traveler: I think you upset Ganyu.../It seems you didn't read the room...
  • Uncle Tian refers to Ganyu as "Little Miss Ganyu". The Traveler is given the choice to also call her this, in which case Ganyu will glare at them and politely ask them to not call her that. (It was later changed to "Lady Ganyu", although the Traveler still has a "Little Miss Ganyu!" dialogue option.)

    Xiao

    Xianyun
  • Xianyun's quest really plays up the fact that she treats her disciples more like her children than apprentices. The whole quest starts because she feels Ganyu and Shenhe don't visit enough. After meeting them she bombards them with questions about their current health, while also passive-aggressively calling them out for not keeping her updated enough. Ganyu even has to shout at her to stop her from telling another embarrassing story about her childhood.
  • Shenhe, having been raised in the mountains with little human contact and subsequently having no understanding of dating culture, inadvertently shoots down the advances of two men who were checking her out while she was waitressing at Wanmin Restaurant.
Shenhe: What can I get for you today?
Qingji: Greetings, Miss. I was just wondering... If you'd be willing to—
Shenhe: What would you like to order?
    Qingji: Eek!
Wenliu: Two servings of Mora Meat to go. ...Good chat, bye!
  • Shenhe tells a story of how Xianyun once challenged Moon Carver to a race. After she beat him, he demanded a rematch because her wings gave her an unfair advantage. Xianyun's response was to build what basically amounted to a motorcycle, which let her easily outpace Moon Carver. However, she lost the race because she didn't account for some bumpy terrain at the end. The mental image of Xianyun crashing a motorcycle is bound to have one laughing.
  • When she tells the story of how she disguised herself as a merchant to give some pills to Yuandai, we get an image of Xianyun putting on little more than a fake mustache, a fake goatee, and a hat, while claiming she "took great care to alter [her] features and select the appropriate attire". Somehow, Yuandai not only didn't recognize Xianyun, but she also mistook the adeptus for a man!
  • After Xiao mentions that he has seen Xianyun fight in this form during the Archon War, Paimon gives her interpretation of how Xianyun might have sounded like during that period. Even The Comically Serious Xiao says it is an "impressive imitation".
Paimon: Behold the glory of one's newest invention, the Bang-Bang Continuous Fire Mechanism! Hands up in surrender, or be prepared to face the full might of the adepti!
  • After Xianyun accepts to take Shuyu as her apprentice, Paimon worries that the poor girl is going to have to move out with her to the mountains and only eat raw herbs. Xianyun not only reveals her plans to move to the city and raise Shuyu there, but she also reveals that she never forced Shenhe and Ganyu to eat herbs, it was just that getting resources so far away from the city was hard and they ended up resorting to plants rather than asking her master for food.
    • This is specially funny considering that Xianyun herself is a big foodie, and during the 2023 Lantern Rite, Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper thought about using her Supreme Cuisine Machine to fix Shenhe better food during her childhood, but never thought about borrowing it. And they only brought this up while Zhongli was using said device to cook their soup.
  • When Xianyun is selling some of her possessions so she can buy a place in Liyue Harbor, the man she's dealing with doubts the authenticity of her items and calls in an expert to appraise them. Who does he call? Zhongli. And just like how things went between Zhongli and Venti during The Exquisite Night Chimes, he and Xianyun are awkwardly praising each other while trying to keep their true identities hidden. Paimon even rolls her eyes at the exchange!
  • Speaking of the sale, the man gets slightly worried at the rapport between the two and hesitantly asks them if they're not conspiring together to scam him. Xianyun, as expected, is outraged at the suggestion, and even Zhongli sounds audibly offended. Of course, given that the poor man had just unknowingly accused the God of Contracts of trying to swindle him...

Inazuma

    Ayaka
  • When visiting a festival with Ayaka, she treats the Traveler and Paimon to a ton of Inazuma food. Shortly after, they go and visit the Prayer Plaques. Paimon's initially eager to write her wish, but backs out due to the all the food she's eaten making it hard for her to think. The Traveler just facepalms in response.

    Raiden Shogun
  • When the Traveler and Paimon learn about the problems Ei's puppet is having, Paimon suggests turning it on and off again.
  • One of the reasons you start the quest was due to the fact that the giant thunderstorm outside of Inazuma was starting to expand, causing people to start to panic. Upon talking to Ei, you find out it was just because Ei had messed up the puppet's settings:
Ei: Don't look at me like that. I've never had to tinker with the Shogun before, and she's very complicated. It's practically inevitable for something to go wrong when you start tweaking things.
Yes, that's it. I'm not making excuses. It's the truth.
  • Before they venture into the streets, Ei asks if people still use Mora. After a quick confirmation, Paimon suddenly has a flash of realization and asks if Ei doesn't have Mora "either". She doesn't; there's no need for commerce in the Plane of Euthymia, and she asks the Commissions to bring whatever she might need. Then Ei notices Paimon's odd choice of words:
Ei: ...Wait, what do you mean, "either"?
  • Although Inazuma has the technology level of feudal Japan, its Light Novels use conspicuously modern tropes, including excessively long titles, isekai stories with broken protagonists (one of which involves a guy being reincarnated into the Raiden Shogun herself), and harems where multiple beautiful women fall in love with a mediocre man. Ei is very puzzled by these stories, to say the least.
  • Due to being a Fish out of Temporal Water, Ei has no idea what a Kamera is and has a minor existential crisis upon seeing a picture of herself for the first time.
  • In Ei's second Story Quest, after the Traveler and Paimon go to Miko for help, Paimon gets a bit of praise for catching on to Yae's sarcasm.
  • During the April 2022 event "Hues of the Violet Garden", the player could acquire a likeness of Ei, referred to by Kujou Sara as "a statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder". While this flowery prose fits with Sara's utter devotion to the Shogun, it becomes amusing when everyone in the event calls it that. And whenever the item or the merchandise version of it is discussed in fan forums, it doesn't take long for all involved to begin referring to it by the full name as well, with properly capitalized words and all.

    Kokomi
  • While looking through Kokomi's private room for a book of stratagems, the Traveler and Paimon discover Kokomi's diary, where she has been recording events that either give her more energy or give her less. They see that she gets more whenever the Traveler visits Watatsumi Island. Kokomi, who is utterly mortified upon realizing what they read, demands that they hand it over.

    Arataki Itto
  • Despite his reputation as a tough gang leader capable of defeating a whole army, the Traveler and Paimon are off put when they get to know him better, discovering all his Manchild traits.
  • When the Traveler manages to throw a bean at Itto (onis are allergic to them), he inevitably has an allergic reaction, but what makes it funny is that he starts whimpering, tries to pretend he is fine before giving in and requesting a time out before he can catch up with them.
  • He asks the Traveler and Paimon to give him time to get an Onikabuto for his beetle fight against Daisuke. As in playing bug fights with a kid. Itto takes it very seriously as he lets it slip that he hasn’t won a single match yet.
Arataki Itto: Hey, it's not just some kids game, okay? It's way deeper than you think! I have taken part in more beetle fights than you would believe. At least 800 — I may have even crossed the thousand mark by this point. Anyway, after a while, you can tell a beetle's fighting potential just by looking at its shape, size, and the patterns on its body. But it's not just about all the physical stuff, oh no! Your Onikabuto's gotta be in the right headspace as well. If it's not up for a fight or doesn't have the guts, then it's game over. Haha! Boy, are you two are lucky you ran into me. When it comes to beetles, I'm the expert that the experts go to! I'll show you all you need to know.
  • Itto gets excited when he thinks he spots a whole pile of beetles nearby. As you get closer, though:
Arataki Itto: Huh? What the... Ah, no! Not Lavender Melons...! Ahem, well, even a pro like myself can make a mistake from time to time.
  • While Itto finds a small beetle, he tries to hype it, claiming that size doesn’t matter. Cue to Paimon finding a beetle twice as big, leaving Itto speechless.
  • After rescuing Takuya, Itto promises him that he’s going to take care of the blue onis while he is in jail, before the militia tells him that he while he's off the hook for Takuya's crimes, he still has to do time for attacking them earlier. Itto then says his gang will do it, only to be reminded that they were also arrested.

    Yae Miko
  • The first half of Yae's Story Quest features her being overall disinterested in the case of two brothers who summoned a spirit that possessed one of them and caused some risk. She knows the spell came from a popular new light novel and doesn't consider the possession or humans toying with spirits to be all that serious... but the second her publisher Kuroda comes to tell her that the Yae Publishing House is losing market power due to the rival book's popularity, she gets dead serious about taking the book down, barking at the Traveler and Paimon to come back. Miko can easily ignore humans playing with nasty spirits, but threaten her sales, and you're in big trouble.
  • Miko continues to be as infuriatingly frustrating as ever. At one point, when Paimon and the Traveler ask how they're going to perform an exorcism, Yae clarifies that there is no "we"- she won't be participating. Later on, when Yae tasks Paimon and the Traveler with writing a novel and they express concern, Yae reminds them that she did say "we" were going to do it, and says she hopes the Traveler has a concept of teamwork!
  • One of the light novels the Traveler can pitch based on their journey is "The Dragon and the Grand Adventure", where the protagonist arrives to a dragon attack in Mondstadt...and then the dragon turns into a beautiful girl and the protagonist and the dragon girl begin a love story. Paimon is confused while the Traveler sticks their tongue out and smiles, and when Paimon asks about the grand adventure, the Traveler clarifies that "The Grand Adventure" is the protagonist's name! Yae then gives the concept a 9/10 and approves it.
  • One of the concepts for the second chapter that the Traveler can pitch is essentially a high-school AU of Liyue Harbor, with different clubs referencing the Liyue characters, whereupon the protagonists form a band in the rock-and-roll club. The references, however, create a very odd assortment besides, including a "Culinary"note , "Architecture"note , "Funerary"note , and "Coconut Research"note  club.
  • At the end of the quest, Miko tells the Traveler to treat her to a meal, and is found the next day having already helped herself to a lavish spread of food...after having previously fed the Traveler and Paimon a basic meal. When Paimon freaks out at the audacious menu, Miko replies that it's no big deal: the book they wrote is so successful that the profit will easily pay for the exorbitant meal. Paimon realizes she and the Traveler have essentially been long-conned into buying Miko a pricey lunch throughout the entire second act, despite all of the other things going on.

    Ayato
  • While Ayato and the Traveler are waiting to see Chisato, they decide to kill some time at Tomoki's Creative Food cart, who just decided to branch out in Ritou, where Ayato tells the traveler that he is a regular customer of his novelty drinks, the new one being milk tea with different sweet toppings, like rice cakes, brown sugar, taro or fruit. Ayato then decides to order milk tea with the most bizarre ingredients ever: Lavender Melon, Seagrass and Sea Ganoderma. Paimon and the Traveler end up disgusted with any of the choices, while Ayato proudly replies that the surprise result is what makes it fun.
  • After the Traveler and Paimon leave, Thoma has a private talk with Ayato about the real situation, commenting on how perfectly everything went... except the part where he ended up with the weirdest drink he ever had, to which Ayato says that Thoma is supposed to be fond of exotic flavors. Thoma gets visibly nervous and tries to avoid giving a direct answer and quickly changes the subject.

    Kazuha
  • When the Prized Isshin Blade concedes that Kazuha works better with his usual blade, and remarks that it must be a splendid blade indeed, Kazuha interrupts with the revelation that his sword is just a random blade he bought in Liyue, and he's just had a lot of years to become in tune with it. Yes, Kazuha's weapon of choice really was the 3-star Fillet Blade that he wields in most of his story appearances. The Prized Isshin Blade is left speechless that what normally amounts to Better Off Sold for most players actually stood up to the Raiden Shogun's Musou no Hitotachi.

Sumeru

    Tighnari
  • While searching for a spot to set up camp while investigating the source of the contamination in the forest, Tighnari calls out to the Traveler that he's found a spot. When they can't locate where his voice is coming from, the camera suddenly pans up to show him looking down from a cliff, while he displays his trademark sassiness:
"Come on you big lummox, raise your head and look up!"

    Nahida
  • In Act I, when acting as "dream experts" at A Moment of Dreams, Paimon gains the title "Expert". Then after Paimon starts getting overwhelmed by requests, Paimon's title changes to "Expert?". Then after Nahida shows up, Paimon's title is removed.
  • Paimon’s story about dreaming herself as slimes:
Paimon: The first time, Paimon became an Anemo Slime. Paimon was shot by an adventurer's arrow and flew in the sky all night long.
Paimon: The second time, Paimon became a Dendro Slime. A group of kids thought Paimon was a Radish and pulled out all the grass on her head. It was super painful!
Paimon: The third time, Paimon became a Cryo Slime. In the end, Paimon was captured by a chef and turned into a smoothie.
Paimon: And the fourth time, Paimon became a powerful Geo Slime and went to take revenge on the Forest Boar that used to bully Paimon. But then the boar showed up with all its relatives, and Paimon lost again.
  • When Nahida arrives at the gathering, all people get suddenly very shy about sharing their dreams with Nahida because of her status as the Dendro Archon. Nahida then starts saying that she didn't want to spoil the mood, to which Paimon and the Traveler realize that she is sulking like a little kid.

    Alhaitham
  • One of the opening dialogues of the NPCs discussing Alhaitham's appointment as Acting Grand Sage involves one of his former professors getting mad that, as a student, Alhaitham had told him that "self-study was a better use of his time" over attending his classes, with the English dub having the professor emphasize "self-study" in a high pitched, sarcastic tone. The professor gets so agitated about it that he starts coughing.
  • Once Siraj's Hive has been shut down, Alhaitham attempts to avoid answering the Traveler and Paimon's curiosity by giving them the excuse that he's off-work. When that doesn't work, he looks at the both of them for a beat...then turns and starts leaving.
    Alhaitham: See ya.
  • Alhaitham decides to bring the Traveler and Paimon back to his house to answer their remaining questions. Who should they meet there but Kaveh, whose presence results in several comedic moments for the rest of the quest:
    • Kaveh, shocked that the typically asocial Alhaitham brought guests from outside the Akademiya back to their house, starts his conversation with the Traveler and Paimon by asking whether they were actors that Alhaitham had hired to pretend to be his friends. Paimon can only respond with a confused "Uhh...what?"
    • Seeing that Kaveh is eager to keep his co-habitation with Alhaitham a secret, Paimon cheekily suggests for some Mora for him to ensure her silence.
    • While Alhaitham was discussing with the Traveler how "humans without their humanity cannot be called humans", Kaveh interjects and casually insults Alhaitham by saying that the former would evolve into some other species in a decade, leading to the following:
Alhaitham: And what about you? Are you going to devolve into a fungus?
Kaveh: At least I'll be a fungus with empathy.
    • After learning about the hive mind experiment, Kaveh rather pointedly starts complaining that Alhaitham could have stayed indoors and helped him with housework, loudly directing to a stack of unsorted books that the former has left in the living room for quite some time. This renders Paimon speechless again and causes the room to fall into awkward silence.
    • Alhaitham then calls Kaveh out for his lack of social skills, which Kaveh counters by essentially labelling him a hypocrite. When Kaveh attempts to ask after the former's wellbeing, Alhaitham answers by annoying him about the painting he was trying to put up when they came in, causing Kaveh to storm out of the room.
    • Hearing the two of them bicker Like an Old Married Couple so much in the short duration they've been in their house has Paimon suggest to the Traveler that they leave, which Alhaitham overhears and remarks bluntly with "You whisper very loudly." Paimon can only sheepishly turn to face him.
    • Alhaitham's and Kaveh's post-quest conversation, in their usual fashion, quickly devolves from discussing about Siraj to snipping at each other on various topics, with Kaveh ultimately losing their argument.
Kaveh: Or perhaps I should say that I'm delighted to see that you have a base amount of self-awareness. If the people in the Akademiya haven't gone mad, they'd know that I'm much more suited to be a sage than you.
Alhaitham: And I suppose they'd let everyone know that your career as a sage will be as shaky as that painting?
Kaveh: Again, that's mighty rich coming from someone about to resign. In a few days, you'll be managing files again. You'll be back at rock bottom.
Alhaitham: But my salary will likely stay the same.
Kaveh: Wait, what? How come!? Why do you get special treatment!?
Alhaitham: At least I don't have to be an architectural designer who works himself to death just to get a smile from his client.
Kaveh, shaking agitatedly: Y—You...I took time out of my day to clean the living room for you, and this is the thanks I get for it!? I'd have been better off catching up on my work — I still have designs to finish.
Alhaitham: Make sure to pay back the rent you owe me. I'm going to buy some furniture with that Mora.
Kaveh: Wha... Are you trying to annoy me to death!? The decorations you buy keep getting uglier and uglier. What's the point of having a boring wood carving in your house?
Alhaitham: You'll have to blame that on my financial freedom.
Kaveh: Fine, go ahead and hide behind your financial success if you want. But if we forget Mora for a second, do you have anything of true value to boast about?
Alhaitham: I think I'd have too many choices, to be honest. You, on the other hand... can you think of any redeeming features at all?
Kaveh: Artistry, for sure! You don't know the first thing about interior design. Don't go off buying random furniture unless you take me with you!
Alhaitham: So I'll have to bring you along and then buy you drinks?
      Kaveh: Of course!
Alhaitham: But why would I do that? It would just be another form of a loan, and you'd have to pay me back eventually.
Kaveh: Can't you just be nice and not ask for the Mora back?
Alhaitham: Pretending that you're not in debt is as ridiculous as pretending you're not living in someone else's home. Word will get out sooner or later.
Kaveh: Speaking of which, your friends won't say anything, right? Tell them to keep all this a secret.
Alhaitham: There's no need to hide it so carefully — I think the truth's already out. You're such a lightweight that a few drinks at the tavern had you spilling all your beans.
Kaveh: What? ...No, it can't be...
    • Using Nahida's skill on the both of them reveal that Kaveh is internally panicking over the possibility that his Open Secret of being Alhaitham's roommate has been revealed, and wondering why he "always has (such) horrible thoughts", while Alhaitham is simply thinking about tidying up his bookshelves.

    Dehya
  • During the Quest, Dehya meets one of her mercenary friends, Harun, and after chatting for a bit, another two mercenaries, Khalaf and Hisham, appear, and Dehya lets it slip that she invited some girls to join the brigade but they quit after seeing Harun and Hisham’s stunned expressions. Khalaf, being new to the brigade, never heard of that incident, and is irked that the two never told him about the girls before. Hisham tries to escape, but Khalaf catches up with him along with Harun to give them both a dressing down. The argument is relegated to the background, but you can still see Hisham begging for forgiveness, and then the two are chased by Khalaf in the background while Dehya talks, the second time with Khalaf chasing Hisham and being chased by Harun. The contrast of Dehya talking in a serious tone about the Eremites’ tendencies to being blunt-talkers, the three mercenaries chasing after each other like children in a fight, and Paimon and the Traveler following the off-screen spectacle with their eyes looks like something out of a Looney Tunes cartoon.

Fontaine

    Lyney
  • Near the end, Charlotte is grilling both Lyney and Lynette for information regarding the Phantom Weasel case (as a second person confessed to being the Phantom Weasel turned themselves in after someone else did). It's readily apparent to Charlotte that Lyney knows more than he's letting on, but he won't talk. Then Paimon makes the mistake of letting it slip that she and the Traveler also know something about what happened the previous night. Paimon tries steering the conversation elsewhere and talks about how Lyney pulled off a trick with a flower similar to the one near the start of the quest, only this time with a Rainbow Rose. This then prompts Lynette to get mad, point out that Lyney has never given her a Rainbow Rose, and accuse her brother of valuing the Traveler and Paimon over her, making Lyney even more distressed. Though Lynette later tells them that she was putting on an act to throw Charlotte off, Lyney's reaction to the whole thing was very much real.

    Furina
  • After Furina rejected the Traveler's request to help a struggling troupe, the former Archon decided to follow the Traveler back to the Adventurer's Guild to eavesdrop on them. She quickly claims she forgot something while grocery-shopping, but the Traveler has none of it and drags her out of hiding by the arm.
  • While searching for one member of the troupe, the group encounters some Slimes. Furina gives a dramatic speech, before asking the Traveler to get rid of the Slimes themselves, reminding them that she’s just an ordinary human with no Vision nor fighting skills (yet). The Traveler can quickly lampshade that Slimes aren't that hard to beat (despite that the Slimes in question are Cryo and Hydro Slimes, which would actually be hard for Furina to handle), to which Furina begs them not to call out her bluff in order to preserve what little dignity she has.
  • When Furina substitutes for the leading actress in the play, she was under the impression that the audience would think she was simply a lookalike. But then the performers tell the audience out loud that she is the real Furina, prompting her to shout that she didn't want them to spill the beans. And this is the same girl who was once a massive Attention Whore!

    Navia
  • After a night's rest in Fleuve Cendre, Navia asks them if they slept well. Paimon replied that she dreamt of sea stars and making a pun out of it. Navia could only respond with a blank look on her face, as the Traveler asks where Paimon got that joke from. The Spanish dub makes it funnier with the Traveler saying that Cyno is a bad influence, being the only person who could come up with such a joke.
  • At the end of the Story Quest, Navia asks the Traveler if they really view her as their partner. While this is meant to be heartwarming, the Traveler can then later bring it up, which will prompt Navia to sheepishly ask them to forget she ever asked the question. It's a chuckle-worthy moment to cap off an otherwise dramatic storyline.

    Chiori
  • When Kirara shows up with Chiori's delivery, she tries to lie her way out of telling her why the shipment was delayed. However, to no one's surprise, her tails start wiggling and Kirara is forced to spill the beans. Everyone remarks at how much of a Bad Liar Kirara is.
  • When Chiori finds out that a man named Uther was responsible for sending some thugs after Kirara and her shipment, she asks Chevreuse and the Traveler to wait outside his house while she has a "chat" with him. Minutes later, right as Chevreuse tells the other two that this is likely to turn into a "rare incident", Uther is sent crashing out of his door by a very pissed Chiori. After Uther leaves, the Traveler can then remark that Chiori threw him in "Such a graceful arc..."
  • In order to get fabric for some new designs, Chiori asks the Traveler to slash apart several of her already-made outfits. After the Traveler does this, Navia then enters the boutique and, seeing the destruction, furiously demands to know who vandalized Chiori's shop. The Traveler begs her to go easy on them as Chiori explains things to Navia, who sheepishly realizes just how scary she was being. This is then swiftly followed by Charlotte showing up and declaring that she'll plaster the name of whoever wrecked Chiori's shop all over the front page of the Steambird. Both the Traveler and Chiori are exasperated by this.

    Arlecchino
  • When the Traveler is introduced to the children of the House of the Hearth, the kids want to be good hosts to them... by teaching them things like how to make poisons or assassination techniques. The Traveler and Paimon are understandably freaked out by this.
  • When Lyney and Freminet decide to keep their involvement with Clervie's ghost a secret, they seal it with a fist-bump... that Lynette gets involved in without any warning whatsoever. When asked how long she's been listening, Lynette's response is to call Lyney, Freminet, the Traveler, AND Paimon all idiots. She then pulls the Annoying Younger Sibling tactic by threatening to tell Arlecchino unless they let her join the scheme.
  • When Childe expresses envy at how Arlecchino effectively gets to be with her family all the time, while his duties usually have him abroad and away from his, the Knave wryly notes that it also means she has to deal with all of the children's squabbling and bickering. She then notes that Childe will eventually have to deal with Tonia and Teucer’s "rebellious phases", such as pulling on the Rooster’s moustache or dying their hair multiple different colours. This actually scares Childe into telling a bunch of stories about his siblings that helps the Traveler keep Arlecchino distracted, seemingly just to forget he heard it.
