There are additional Classes and designations that do not fall under the seven "regular" Classes summoned as part of the Holy Grail War ritual. These fall under the umbrella term of "Extra Classes", and are typically only summoned under extraordinary or taboo circumstances. As the Grand Order and the FATE summoning System do not operate under the rules of a Holy Grail War, such Servants are far more common during the events of Fate/Grand Order.


While many Extra Classes exist, like Gunner, Saver, or Funny Vamp, only six have appeared thus far in Grand Order: Shielder, Ruler, Avenger, Moon Cancer, Alter Ego and Foreigner. The classes of Ruler, Avenger and Moon Cancer make up their own class triangle with Avenger beating Ruler, Ruler beating Moon Cancer, and Moon Cancer beating Avenger.

Ruler was originally an Extra Class summoned by the Holy Grail to act as the adjudicators of the Holy Grail Wars of the Fate/Apocrypha timeline, or in any instance where the authority of the Holy Grail is threatened. Rulers are typically powerful and selfless individuals who have no desire for the Holy Grail and possess the ability to be impartial: thus, most Rulers are Saints or were very close to sainthood in life. Any Ruler summoned by the FATE summoning system must meet the qualifications for this role, even if a Holy Grail War is not taking place. Rulers are granted a number of key class abilities such as True Name Discernment (allowing them to instantly know the identity, parameters, skills and Noble Phantasms of any Servant), and their own set of Command Spells for every Servant in the Holy Grail War they are summoned to.

Rulers take half damage from the regular classes (Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin) and deal normal damage to them, with the usual exception of Berserkers. They are strong against Moon Cancer and weak against Avengers.

    Class-wide Tropes 
  • Always Lawful Good: Subverted. All of the playable Rulers are of the Good alignment, but BB can be summoned in this class, only declining because it means enforcing and being bound to the rules. Outside of the summoned ones includes Jeanne Alter during Orleans and the suicidal Phenex, neither of which are Lawful Good.
  • Christianity Is Catholic: All playable Servants in the class (with the exception of Holmes) were venerated Catholic saints in their respective cultures (Jeanne and Martha in France, Shirou Amakusa in Japan—even if Amakusa hasn't been canonized by the Vatican yet). Mash additionally explains that in a regular Grail War Summoning, only saints can be summoned as the Ruler class because the Grail is a Christian concept, but Chaldea's Summoning system doesn't need to adhere to that restriction.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: It might feel a little random that they got a super-effective bonus against Moon Cancer Servants when BB debuted, but it makes sense - Moon Cancers (and, more widely, "Grail Cancers" as a concept) are the exact sort of aberrations against Grail Wars the Rulers are meant to stop.
  • Power Creep: In the earlier days of the game, Rulers were both a powerful Servant to have and a difficult boss to face due to its wide-ranging defensesnote . The debut of the Avenger class (which resists it and is stronger against it) and the general strength of newer Servants has led to the existing Rulers falling a bit behind - until Jeanne and Amakusa received gameplay buffs, that is.
  • Rare Random Drop: There is really only one readily-available Ruler Servant (Jeanne), and she's a five-star to start with. The other three have so far been limited. This makes them rarer than the Avenger class in terms of existing Servants and availability. Additionally, they tend to not get added as often; after Martha was added, it was a full year until Holmes was made available to players, and the year following that saw not a single one even alluded to.
  • Stone Wall: Thanks to having defensive bonuses against seven Classes, this is typically the role they take in parties. The Rulers with offensive Noble Phantasms can struggle to contribute as much as others, since despite having a passive attack bonus (which is equal to that of Berserkers or Avengers), they only deal bonus damage to Moon Cancers and their Attack stat tends to lean towards the lower end for their rarity, while Jeanne is a bit more useful for providing healing often and also being an utter damage sponge (with the highest HP total in the game).
  • Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors: The Ruler class resists almost all of the standard Classes (Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin), and Foreigner, and deal neutral damage to them in turn. They only receive neutral damage from Shielder, Alter Egos, and all types of Beast to date, fall weak to Avengers, both give and receive extra damage against Berserkers and have typical "deals double, takes half" advantages over Moon Cancer.

A Japanese Christian that led the Shimabara Rebellion. Born in the Edo period, he was a boy of miracles who could nearly be called a saint. How exactly he was discovered, no one knows. A good half of his lifetime is wrapped in mystery. He, who concentrated on his studies since childhood, began to perform many miracles at the frontier. Having healed wounds and walked on water, he eventually began to be enthusiastically worshiped as the son of God by the peasants that believed in a prohibited religion.

He first appears as Shirou Kotomine, a Master in Fate/Apocrypha and then becomes the main antagonist, later revealed to have been summoned as another Ruler-class Servant. He debuted for the 2016 White Day event and is a major character for Christmas 2016. An alternate timeline version of him appears as an Avenger in Shimosa.

  • Affably Evil: He is lighthearted and friendly, but absolutely ruthless, at least in Apocrypha.
  • Alternate Self: The one who appears in Shimosa comes from another universe.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Fate/Apocrypha material mentions that he got the tan from twenty years of digging around Iraq for Semiramis' catalyst. He still retains it in this game which is strange considering how the Apocrypha anime depicts his summoned self in a flashback with the skin tone and hair of a normal Japanese man. He most likely still has the tan since it was his only depicted form on-screen prior to the release of said flashback episode.
  • Anime Hair: He has rather spiky hair for Stages 1-2. He loses it by Stage 3 when he takes on his true Servant form.
  • Anti-Villain: He wants to use the Greater Grail to achieve humanity's salvation (and, more specifically, save his comrades from their doomed fate at Hara Castle in the process), even if it means he must cheat at a Grail War and betray you.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: His Noble Phantasm counts as this, in that it removes all enemy buffs before dealing damage, making it unavoidable and unable to be mitigated.
  • Ax-Crazy: In contrast to the regular Amakusa, the Amakusa who appears in Shimosa is much more violent and insane.
  • Badass Cape: From Stage 2 and onwards.
  • Badass Preacher: An apocryphal Saint who kicks ass in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • Balance Buff: Often regarded as one of the worst SSR Servants due to his pitiful damage, the Second Anniversary gives him a much-needed upgrade, mainly giving him a hefty 3-turn Buster buff with his third skill. Nowadays he's regarded as a very useful unit in challenge battles where the enemies have multiple buffs, as he can remove all of them in one shot.
  • Bishōnen. Just look at him.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: He would, and does in his Interlude, betray you and everyone at Chaldea if it meant giving him a shot at the Greater Grail. He's otherwise loyal and regrets what he's doing, but it's an intense obsession for him and he just can't hold back, even if the Grail in question is corrupted and likely unusable. He's called one of "Chaldea's Four Diabolical Masterminds" for this and the title gets brought up during the Nero Festival 2017 as he works together with Moriarty purely for the Grail.
  • Climax Boss: He's the final Servant working with Caster Limbo in Shimosa and his defeat heralds the end of the group's danger to the timeline.
  • Cool Mask: It's not his own, but Amakusa (and several others) has taken a liking to wearing Mozart's mask, as he wore that in Christmas 2016 and Nerofes 2017.
  • Covered in Scars: Beneath those priest robes, as seen in Fate/Apocrypha vol 4's illustration.
  • Creepy Cool Crosses: He wears a standard crucifix in his first Ascensions, but then gets them on his red tunic as of the the 3rd one.
  • Dimensional Traveler: Shimosa's Amakusa comes from a pruned timeline which he somehow managed to escape and wandered through several universes before coming to the conclusion that the Shimabara Rebellion would never be victorious and started the incidents in Shimosa in the hopes of interfering with the Quantum Time Lock that held the Shimabara Rebellion's defeat in place.
  • Hidden Depths: As much as he desires the Grail and might betray you for it, he's still a good person at heart and is more than willing to help out in non-Grail situations. Christmas 2016 is one of the real big examples, where he becomes SANTA ISLAND KAMEN in order to assist Jeanne Lily. Specifically, he is one of the primary assistants the Protagonist has in facilitating Jeanne Lily's constructed journey to the sea so that she can survive as a Servant, and mostly does it simply because she deserves to exist.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: He's an apocryphal Catholic saint and he wants to bring salvation to mankind, but he's a much worse person than the historical figure he's based on. Though ironically a much better person than how Amakusa Shirou is usually portrayed in Japanese media. His Shimosa version is far more in line with that.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: His Baptismal Sacrament skill, which only works on undead and demon enemies.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: From Stage 2 on, he switches his Black Keys for a katana.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Stage 3-4, when he gets his Samurai Ponytail back. Actually bordering on Rapunzel Hair, as his ponytail is down to his ankles in his sprite.
  • Mystical White Hair: He actually didn't have white hair in life, but gained it when the Greater Grail forcefully incarnated him in the backstory of Apocrypha.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • To begin with, he's summoned with Shirou Kotomine's form, which means he experiences Apocrypha-verse's Third Holy Grail War and the Great Holy Grail War 60 years later. He also fights using Black Keys, the signature weapon of the Holy Church and wearing their ceremonial robes in stage 2.
    • He also remembers what went down in Apocrypha and comments on his enemies, Jeanne and Sieg in My Room. For Jeanne, he says that although they're on the same side now, he won't ever change his wish for the Holy Grail if he somehow can claim it. Otherwise they're actually getting along quite fine.
    • He also says that he can't tell you about the charm of a certain oldest poisoner. He popped up during the epilogue of the Valentine event to encounter said poisoner and makes several vague comments that implied their past partnership.
    • On stage 2-3, he uses a katana, like the one from Apocrypha, where Shakespeare enchants a katana for him to be of equal strength to a C-rank Noble Phantasm.
    • The Westernized design of Amakusa's Stage 3 outfit harkens the aesthetic of Takato Yamamoto's portrayal of him in his art (as seen here and here).
  • Patron Saint: Of all Japanese Catholics, even though he's still not regarded as such by the Vatican.
  • Redemption Demotion: Since he doesn't have access to all his upgrades from Fate/Apocrypha, he's much closer to his normal strength. It's quite fitting, enemy Amakusa is an absolute nightmare for any teams, but in your hands he's not that deadly. Good, but not that good.
  • Samurai: For Stages 3-4, he assumes his proper appearance which has him dress in samurai clothes with a few Western touches (most notably a cravat).
  • Samurai Ponytail: To complete the Samurai look for Stages 3-4, he trades his Anime Hair for a pony tail.
  • Teen Genius: He died at the ripe age of seventeen, but still had the merit and strength to become a Heroic Spirit.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: Very skilled in the use of Black Keys. His Quick attack animation uses this.
  • Unrealistic Black Hole: His Noble Phantasm, Twin Arm - Big Crunch, combines the magical energy gathered by the two Noble Phantasms in his hands, Left Hand - Xanadu Matrix and Right Hand - Evil Eater, and unleashes a miniature black hole on his foes.
  • Walking Spoiler: His identity and motives are the biggest twist of Fate/Apocrypha.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: In Gilgamesh (Caster)'s interlude, he admits that the curbstomp he recieved from Jaguar Man in the Babylonia singularity turned jaguars into this for him.

The most famous female saint in the world and savior of France. Between departing from her home town at 17 years old and being sentenced to the stake at 19 years old, she carved her name on history in a mere two years. After accomplishing a military advance that could be described as a miracle, she was scorned and met a tragic end. Even after being captured, Jeanne kept making miracles.

As a simple farm girl she shouldn't know anything but the Bible and a few words of prayer, but Jeanne maintained an argument with a first-class theologian on equal terms, making it difficult to punish her as a heretic. A certain soldier who thought her to be a witch witnessed a white dove flying away after she was burned. It's said that he then deeply regretted killing a true female saint.

She is a main character of Fate/Apocrypha, and was the first character summoned under the special Ruler class. She's also the main ally during the Orleans chapter. She also had something of a role to play in the Christmas 2016 event.

  • All-Loving Hero: She'll do her best to save and forgive anyone, no matter how evil they are or how much they curse her. This extends to her comrade Gilles, who has become an insane Serial Killer, Jeanne Alter, who's her evil clone that wants to kill her, and Edmond Dantes, who doesn't want to be saved and gets pissed off at the idea of it.
  • Anti-Magic: Conceptually, she has the highest Magic Resistance of any Servant, ranked as unquantifiable at EX. She can't even be touched by magic, even if it's regenerative. However Amakusa's Baptismal Sacrament bypass her resistance. Her Noble Phantasm creates a barrier based on her magic immunity to the party, which in this game translates to a one-turn invulnerability.
  • The Artifact: Jeanne's status as a Saberface. It's a holdover from a plot point in Fate/Zero, where Gilles mistook Altria for Jeanne. It made sense back then because 1) Gilles was insane and 2) there were no other characters at the time (other than Mordred in her non-canon cameo in the DEEN Fate/stay night anime) that looked similar to Altria. It makes less sense here because of Nero, Mordred, and (to a lesser extent) Okita, who look outright identical to Altria rather than just possessing a passing resemblance to Altria like Jeanne does.
  • Balance Buff: Though powerful early on, especially given her relative ease of ascension, she was one of the worst victims of power creep due to her already mediocre to outright bad skills causing her to fall behind as more powerful Servants like Tamamo or Merlin appeared. Worse, her Noble Phantasm stunned her for 1 turn. Players discovered through datamining that she had a planned Noble Phantasm interlude, but were unimpressed by the values. However, when it was actually included, it turned out that instead of the laughably weak improvement players thought she would get, it instead ended up removing the demerit entirely and replacing it with a party debuff clear, removing her largest flaw, and making her one of the best stall/support-based servants in the game.
  • Barrier Warrior: Her banner, Luminosité Éternelle, can create a barrier using her Magic Resistance. In-game this gives the party a one-turn invincibility, heal, and debuff clear.
  • Big Good: Of the Orleans chapter.
  • Blade on a Stick: Her banner functions as a spear, even if she's not really stabbing the enemy with it.
  • Braids of Action: She wears her hair in a long braid, though she wears her hair loose by her third stage.
  • Combat Clairvoyance: Her Revelation skill works like the Instinct skill, but also towards "reaching one's goal" like picking the right path of travel.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Very much Downplayed compared to other characters, as she is pretty much good in any situation. However, her skills make her clear her main strength is fighting other Servants, due to her ability to both reduce their Noble Phantasm damage, and also do a one turn stun that only works on Servants. Her Noble Phantasm is also perfectly designed to counter big AOE Noble Phantasms. Against regular enemies or special non-Servant enemies, her versatility drops a bit.
  • Crutch Character: Her appearances as a Guest Servant in Orleans, as an SSR Ruler with an invincibility-granting Noble Phantasm, she helps ease the starting player, unlikely to have any high level or rare Servants at this point, into the game.
  • Deuteragonist: She's the primary support character for the Orleans chapter, which is built around the nation's reaction to her death and revival as a Servant.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Her My Room dialogue reveals that while she is willing to work with former enemy servants from Fate/Apocrypha such as Amakusa and Atalante, she still holds a grudge against Shakespeare because of how he used his Noble Phantasm on her.
  • Flaming Sword: La Pucelle: The Crimson Holy Virgin, although she doesn't use it in battle since it would kill her.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: There's a little bit, compared to her lore and how she was described as working & acting in Apocrypha.
    • Her EX Magic Resistance is supposed to resist all magic, even of the beneficial, restorative sort. Healing spells & skills from the player Master and fellow Servants work on her just fine in-battle, though, because heals not working on her specifically would be incredibly obnoxious and would make her a lot weaker, even with her Stone Wall defenses. She's even debuffable, as her being immune to debuffs would likewise be a little too good in turn; her EX Magic Resistance just translates into a particularly high chance to resist debuffs.
    • In lore (and debatable in history), she doesn't kill. In-game, she can finish off enemies just fine, as she already has low ATK for a five-star and she would hardly need the added burden of being unable to kill even the simplest mook.note 
  • Guest-Star Party Member: During the Orleans chapter.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She could easily serve as the banner girl for the trope, alongside Altria.
  • Hidden Depths: She's bad at mathematics. Really bad. She's also kind of a glutton, a habit she got from her host body in Fate/Apocrypha. Her country girl roots also peek out in the form of her being unable to resist the urge to take a nap in a pile of hay.
    • Apparently she's also a really good artist. The 2018 summer event takes place at a Comiket parody, and according to Blackbeard the doujin circle comprised of Jeanne and her friends is extremely popular. One of her Archer swimsuit version's skills is even "Doujin Artist EX".
  • Identical Stranger: Though completely different in body type and hair style, her face and attitude are similar enough to Altria that Gilles mistook the latter for her in Fate/Zero, while in the Orleans chapter the opposite occurred when Lancelot mistook her for Altria. Granted, both are insane, but they did make the same mistake. This is actually one of the game's hidden traits, Saber-face, and is usually reserved Altria, Mordred, Nero, Okita and their variants.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: It is said that she's so holy, any attempt to copy her is fated to fail because the copy is notably a downgrade to her true martyr spirit. Jeanne Alter is the result of such an attempt, and her personality is so horribly mangled compared to the real Jeanne that many of her allies feel compelled to comment on it during the Orleans chapter. Dantes later attempts to provoke her the old fashioned way, and that too fails because Jeanne is just too nice to be angered. In her NP rank-up interlude, Mephistopheles tries to corrupt her through a test. It doesn't work either.
  • Jeanne d'Archétype: She is the Trope Maker, Trope Codifier and Trope Namer. In the game, Orleans is centered around the fallout of her persecution and her rallying the good guys to beat her evil version, she leads the assault to save the protagonists from a Demon Pillar in Salomon and rallies them together with her speech, and has the Star attribute because her archetype is heavily admired by humanity as a shining example of a leader.
  • Male Gaze: Her current NP animation starts with a gratuitous view of her thigh-highs.
  • Mythology Gag: She has a comment for almost all characters from Fate/Apocrypha that are currently in the game and characters related to her which were added from the March 8 update.
    • She comments on Siegfried that she has several connections with him, even though they've rarely spoken to each other. When pressed further for clarification, she simply states that it's a secret. Prior to an update, she referred to Siegfried as Sieg-kun, aka the homunculus Sieg.
    • She also comments on Atalante, Shakespeare, and Amakusa: all her enemies from the Red Faction. She's still angry at Shakespeare after his Mind Rape in Apocrypha, and really glad that Amakusa's fighting on the same side as her.
    • For Gilles, she is sad seeing what become of Caster!Gilles and reassured Saber!Gilles that she will always be there to pokes at his eyes, referencing the Einzbern Consultation Room OVA.
    • In Medea Lily's Interlude, she and Astolfo continue their rivalry from the Capsule Servant minigame and Apocrpyha in general. She's also shocked at seeing another version of that pink-haired Servant.
  • One of the Boys: In Orleans chapter, Jeanne tells Marie Antoinette that when she was younger the boys of her village considered her this.
  • Rapunzel Hair: For her third and final ascension, once she undoes her (still-prodigious) braid.
  • Red Baron: The Maid of Orleans, The Standard-Bearer who Correctly Guides the Holy Grail War and the Holy Maiden Savior.
  • Rousing Speech: In the final order, Jeanne makes her speech from the first trailer to all of the Servants assembled, to fight against the demon pillars and Solomon and restore the human order.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: Subverted. Dantès selects her to be the Lord of Wrath at the Château d'If, certain that she has to have some anger and bitterness over how she died, only to find out that she never felt any wrath regarding her death. She only came to the Prison Tower to try and save Dantès' soul. The actual avatar of wrath ends up being Saber Gilles instead.
  • Stone Wall: She has the highest HP of any playable Servant and the best defensive class, but also the second lowest attack of any SSR, even lower than some SRs at level 80. She also grants full party invulnerability with her Noble Phantasm as well as a heal, minor defense buff, and debuff clear. She also has three Arts cards to build her NP meter quickly and her NP is Arts-based to further support Arts Brave Chains. Her skills are also designed to support this strategy, though True Name Discernment is laughably inadequate in fulfilling its intended purpose (as it can only be used against Servants). It's completely possible for her, with a bit of proper support, to defeat any opponent that isn't a Berserker or Avenger by simply outlasting them as she wears down their HP, even if that means she needs to drag the fight out to dozens or even hundreds of turns.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: While she certainly knows how to fight, she actually never kills in battlenote , even in the Hundred Years War. She is only a standard-bearer, after all.
  • Tomboy: Fate/Zero Material says that Gilles likes boyish girls, and considering how obsessed he is with Jeanne she's the only person it could possibly be referring to.
  • Too Awesome to Use: Her second Noble Phantasm, La Pucelle, isn't available for player use and she hasn't even discussed using it during chapters she appears in. Though given it KILLS her as a price for its use, that's probably for the best.
  • Worthy Opponent: Atalante Alter absolutely hates her, but also has a kind of admiration for her at the same time, noting how she is the only one who would actively try to oppose her.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: She assures Dantès that contrary to his claims of being irredeemable, his soul can still be saved. Dantès is not happy with her assessment, to say the least.

Having lost her holy garments and holy staff in this class, Martha has no choice but to stop conflict with her bare hands. With a single iron fist, she splits steel. With a single strong fist, she pierces dragons! This holy woman finally ended up as an unarmed dragon-slayer. Carrying the Messiah's words in her heart, she has not forgotten the oath of a holy woman. Her body surely exists for the sake of the people.

She's an alternate version of Saint Martha that appears in the Chaldea Summer 2016 event. Unlike most Summer Servants, she's confirmed to qualify for this class normally, though she'd appear in her regular garb.

  • Badass Preacher: She beat Tarasque (a dragon) unarmed, using hand-to-hand combat of old based on Jacob's techniques from when he wrestled an angel. And during the summer event she beats a veteran monster killer, Beowulf, in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: After being talked about in her Interludes and events, she finally uses her fists to punch the shit out of her enemies. Although in her third Ascension form, she wears gauntlets.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: She's less than enthused that the piglets in Chaldea Summer 2016 Part 2 refer to specifically as "The Goddess of the Iron Fist", though she grows to at least tolerate it by the end.
  • Fastball Special: Her NP starts with her chucking Tarasque at a hapless enemy, before pulverizing them (and Tarasque) with Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs.
  • Flanderization: In-universe, Martha starts losing her saintly personality and emphasizing her rough personality the longer she's stuck on the island. She notices this and tries to keep her saintliness... and does so in a way that leaves everyone else hurting.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Apparently, Martha is the latest in a long line of practitioners of a martial art made for fighting angels, begun by Jacob and passed down through the centuries to Martha, possibly from Jesus Christ Himself. Her fighting stance is even the classic "putting your dukes up" pose seen in the page image, and the piglets call her the "Goddess of the Iron Fist."
  • Hime Cut: Still has it—and actually quite more noticeable considering there's no veil/ribbons on the mix. She's quick to ditch it once you hit her first ascension.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Compared to either Jeanne or Amakusa, Martha can conceivably tank enemies and hit just as hard due to her passive abilities, skills, and card setup (she has a three Buster Card setup, which is more appropriate for Berserkers than Rulers). Ironically, this makes her a better fit for offensive themes compared to the other two.
  • Nice Hat: She wears a hat in her base form, though she ditches it later.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: She uses these on Tarasque to beat him into the enemy.
  • Situational Sword: Two-fold! Her Waterfront Saintess skill grants her an attack bonus if she's fighting on stages classified as Beach or Waterside for three turns, and her Jacob's Limbs skill gives her bonus damage against Demon, Divine, and Undead enemies for one turn.
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: Even after her debut event's over, this version of her will still be running around in a swimsuit.

The eponymous protagonist of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's mystery stories, a detective who explains all enigmas and progenitor of modern fictional detectives.

This Holmes could either be someone conjured up by Doyle, using Joseph Bell as the basis for his fiction or a real person whose exploits were recorded by Dr. John Watson. Only Holmes knows the solution to this mystery.

He shows up in the first arc in Camelot as an NPC. He then shows up in Shinjuku as an ally, again as an NPC. He was put in the gacha as a Ruler for a limited time to celebrate the game's second anniversary, though his prior story appearances were as a Caster.

In the part two prologue, he is one of the two remaining Servants left in Chaldea after the Mage's Association arrived and required the remaining Servants to be forcibly desummoned. However, Holmes hid them away in secret along with their Saint Graphs.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Holmes get his arm cut off by Surtr, who was using Sigurd's body.
  • Archenemy: Do we even need to mention him? It's Moriarty, Archer of Shinjuku.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: His NP gives this effect to all party members, enabling them to ignore enemies' defense buffs and invincibility effects.
  • Ascended Extra: Goes from just being a one-off character in Part 1 (albeit one who provides some plot critical exposition) to part of the main cast in subsequent arcs.
  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Discussed in his profile as the paraphrased "It's Elementary, My Friend" did not originate from Arthur Conan Doyle's works, but from William Gillette's stage plays, though the usage of the word "elementary" was used in the original novels, what might have lead to William creating the phrase.
  • Bishōnen: One of the reasons Moriarty takes fault with him since the latter as a Servant is an old man in his fifties while Holmes as a Servant is this.
  • Bootstrapped Leitmotif: London's map music has essentially become his Leitmotif as it plays for his appearances in several events.
  • Brutal Honesty: As he says himself, he doesn't hold back at all with what he says.
    "Sherlock Holmes never holds his tongue, never controls himself, and never passes up a chance to annoy people!"
  • Cane Fu: Uses his cane several times as a weapon during his attack animations.
  • Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality: Enforced. He enjoys examining whether or not Servants are "real" or just legends so much that partially one of the reasons he was turned into a Ruler was to prevent him from removing the Mystery from illusions and dreams.
  • Composite Character: The Heroic Spirit Holmes is theorized to be one based on Doyle's stories, the many adaptations of said stories, and the living person Holmes.
  • Critical Hit Class: He has both a star absorption buff and a party buff that increases party crit damage by 50%+ for three turns while ignoring any defensive, evasion or invincibility buffs from the enemy.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "Murder at the Kogetsukan" focuses on him as he presents a mystery for the protagonist, and by extension, the players to solve. He also features in the Fate/Grand Order themed escape room as participants try to unravel the mysterious puzzles in a Baker Street singularity.
  • Distinguished Gentleman's Pipe: He's holding one in his artwork.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: His suspicions of Roman have some solid logic behind them: he has no records prior to 2004 when he helped Maris Billy, who later died, committing suicide, to win the Holy Grail War, has a mysterious gold ring and wasn't watching the first reyshift, thus ending up missing the explosion that killed most of the staff and critically hurt most of the Masters, becoming head of Chaldea. Of course, the truth is more complicated than that, and the good doctor was always on the protagonist's side.
  • Fascinating Eyebrow: One of his sprites has him raise one of his eyebrows quite high.
  • Finger-Tenting: Holmes does it in certain actions of his sprites, but it's most visible when he's using his Noble Phantasm.
  • Functional Addict: His incarnation as a Heroic Spirit did absolutely nothing to shake off his various drug addictions. Notably, Da Vinci once straight up asked the protagonist if they "stole some weird stuff from Holmes' room", while believing they were suffering from hallucinations. He claims that he stashed enough to help him last him a month on the Shadow Border.
  • Good Is Not Nice: He's really kind of a dick and doesn't actually seem nearly as concerned with helping people as he is with solving mysteries. He feels briefly awkward or outright ashamed due to Mash's unwavering belief in him as actually being a good person who is just pretending to be a smug prick.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: True to his stories, Holmes has the makings of a prize fighter with his baritsu training. He mixes it up with his cane and magnifying glasses in combat, and it's even one of his skills, so potent that under the right circumstances it has the output of a True Name-released Noble Phantasm.
  • Hero of Another Story: He's been busy figuring out why the future stops at 2016, what Solomon's up to and jumping between singularities while doing so. In London, he found the books on the Servant summoning system and left them behind in a library for the party to find.
  • Holodeck Malfunction: Induces one on purpose in his trial quest to explore the boundary between reality and fiction.
  • I Shall Return: He doesn't trust Dr. Roman and won't join up with the others to avoid contact with him. But he promises before they part ways that they'll meet again in a big city like London. This is fulfilled when he appears in Shinjuku and comes with you to Chaldea afterwards, and later finally becomes a playable character.
  • Imposter Forgot One Detail: He borrows the Count of Monte Cristo's power and identity for a while in Shinjuku... but blows his cover to the protagonist within seconds, as he introduces himself as Edmond Dantès, something the real deal would never do. In a bit of Gameplay and Story Integration, as even with this borrowed power he is still not a very good fighter, he joins the party at a lower level than even the chapter's Mooks, in contrast to a guest party member's usually maxed out stats.
  • Insufferable Genius: He loves rubbing his big brain in everybody's face, and is very aware that it pisses people off. After Bedivere spent most of Camelot saying finding the identity of Mash's Heroic Spirit is This Is Something She's Got to Do Herself, he just goes and spoils it because "it was obvious". note 
  • Kicked Upstairs: He believes the big reason he's a Ruler instead of his proper Caster class is because Ruler is the "impartial overseer" class, and the World forced him to become a Ruler so he wouldn't go off and elucidate away all of the remaining Mystery in existence.
  • Light 'em Up: As a Ruler, several of his attacks have him focusing the giant lenses at his disposal to redirect beams of light at his enemies.
  • Magic Knight: He can provide both offensive support and work as a damage dealer himself with ease. He's held back slightly as support by a lack of defensive options or healing for the party and as primary damage by a poor offensive class and a non damaging NP, but makes up for it with amazing NP generation.
  • Master of Disguise: Can make himself appear like other servants, including Dantes and Da Vinci. According to the Material book, this is due to his second NP, Empty House: Adventure of the Empty House, which allows him to imitate the appearance and parameters of Heroic Spirits, as long as they aren’t higher than his.
  • Mission Control: After joining up with Chaldea at the end of Shinjuku, he occasionally pops up in the remaining chapters of Epic of Remnant to deliver some exposition and comment on the situation.
  • Mr. Exposition: He explains to the party what he's discovered so far and correlates it with the information in the Hermes supercomputer archive. He also explains general things like what Atlas Academy is.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Holmes manifests as a Servant with a harness-like contraption around his middle that sprouts many mechanical arms ending in magnifying glasses. While typically used for laser-based strikes, and Holmes himself generally one for going head-on with his baritsu techniques anyway, one of his attacks also utilizes them in a Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs manner.
  • Non-Action Guy: His existence is unstable when he meets the party so he asks them to fight off the traps in Atlas for him. He also doesn't fight at all in Shinjuku. Finally averted after being made playable in the game's second anniversary.
  • Odd Friendship: Was friends with the polite, justice loving Jekyll when he was alive. He also knew Helena when she was alive and chasing Sanat Kumara's mysteries.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In the story about him and Jekyll, Watson notes that Holmes taking Jekyll's suicide as a personal case is unheard of due to him never taking personal cases.
  • Private Detective: He was hired by Babbage to investigate whatever's been going on behind the scenes with the end of the world and declares the case to be solved by the end of Shinjuku.
  • Promoted to Playable: Only an NPC for the first story arc and only technically playable in Shinjuku when he's disguised as Dantes, he became a playable character to commemorate the game's second anniversary.
  • Reality Warper: His Noble Phantasm, Elementary, My Dear: It's Elementary, My Friends, is considered Anti-World due to its power to create an answer or solution to any conundrum that Holmes and his allies might be facing: if it is an unsolvable mystery, his Noble Phantasm will create clues. If it is a locked box to which the key has been destroyed beyond recovery, his Noble Phantasm will bring a new key into existence somewhere. The only thing stopping this from being a Story-Breaker Power is that Holmes and his allies must still find the clues and then deduce/enact the solution. In other words, his Noble Phantasm creates a possibility, not an inevitability.
  • Shapeshifter: He can transform into other people, as showcased in Shinjuku where he impersonates Edmond Dantes.
  • Sixth Ranger: He joins Chaldea only after the first storyline ends.
  • Square Race, Round Class: Holmes really should be a Caster, but his Saint Graph was modified before he would become a Chaldea Servant to make him into a Ruler class. As such, he still has the Territory Creation skill and lacks True Name Discernment or Magic Resistance present in other Rulers (though his Noble Phantasm can function like the former). His trial quest on the other hand suggests this happened intentionally due to Holmes being able to adjudicate and arbitrate fairly concerning the truth.
  • Summation Gathering: Of course. At the end of "Murder at the Kogetsukan", he gathers everyone together before they leave via boat to explain who the murderer is and what motivated them to do these crimes.
  • Support Party Member: His skillset is designed around him building up the gauge for his Noble Phantasm over and over again so he can provide several buffs to his party members. With his good NP generation and his third skill that increases his Arts performance, this means he can use his NP back to back. While his support is not as powerful as that of Waver, Tamamo and Merlin, he can also deal some effective damage himself with an effective attack on par with some Berserkers and the best defensive class in the game.
  • Un-person: One of the few advantages against the Mage's Association's takeover of Chaldea in the part 2 prologue is that they purposely left his summoning and any subsequent contributions to Chaldea out of their records to try to cover up his existence, allowing him to go about unnoticed for the time being. (Which, it must be noted, he canonically did himself before—i.e. when he first defeated Moriarty and faked his death).
  • The Worf Barrage: Holme's Baritsu technique is so great that it has power output equivalent to that of an activated Noble Phantasm under certain conditions. But this doesn't allow him to match the power of Sigurd and the greatest Demonic Sword, Gram. Their encounter ends with Holmes losing an arm.


Avenger is the secret "eighth Class" of Servant that could be summoned in the Holy Grail War, and was forbidden because it is guaranteed to summon an Anti-Hero or Evil-aligned Heroic Spirit. Avengers are marked by an all-consuming hatred or thirst for revenge against a certain target, whether it be an individual, a concept, or even the entire World. While most individuals will gradually heal and forget a grudge with time, the curse of the Avenger class makes their vengeance burn in perpetuity; as painful as a fresh wound for the rest of their existence.

Avengers are strong against Rulers and weak against Moon Cancer.

    Class-wide Tropes 
  • Always Chaotic Evil: The Avengers that have been released so far are all of the Evil alignment. They appear to share this trait with the Beasts, if Tiamat's profile is any indication.
  • Ax-Crazy: Of a different sort than the Berserker class, as Avengers are fueled not by madness but by murderous hatred and rage.
  • The Corruption: Their class description calls them "[the] dark side of the Holy Grail, which is the contents in the cup" (although this technically only applies to Aŋra Mainiiu and Dark Irisviel/Justeaze). Some reading between the lines in Babylonia, though, implies that Avengers in Fate as a whole may be linked to the Beasts and their life-negating properties, and that the Evils of the World which Aŋra represents and which infected the Fuyuki Grail after it tries to make the wish for him to exist come true, starting this whole mess, might be related to the Beasts.
  • Critical Hit Class: All Avengers have the Oblivion Correction Passive Skill, which boosts the damage of critical hits, and all of them except for Aŋra Mainiiunote  have Active Skills that either generate crit stars, increase their star absorption rate, and/or further boost their critical hit damage. However, they have an inherently low star absorption rate, which means it can be difficult to take advantage of this.
  • Glass Cannon: Not quite as glassy as some others, but this tends to be how they play - they all have very high attack stats for their rarity (Dantes & Jeanne Alter in particular have the 4th highest and the highest attack stats in the game, while Gorgon has the highest attack stat of all 4* Servants, as well as Salieri having the highest attack among all 3* servants), an innate attack bonus on top of that, NP bars that fill very quickly and a double damage bonus against the game's designated Stone Wall class, but they have middling HP and only have a defensive bonus against Rulers. On top of this, BB the Moon Cancer gets to walk all over them, no questions. They do often need a little help staying alive.
  • Power Glows: Much moreso than other Servants, Avengers tend to visibly glow with their dark power in high-tier ascensions.
  • The Power of Hate: Avengers, as their name implies, are fueled by hatred and a lust for revenge so intense they'd destroy the world to attain it. Only their Masters can keep them from going on a rampage.
  • Rare Random Drop: Frustratingly more so than the oft-mentioned Saber class. Only the following six are playable:
    • Dantes and Jeanne Alter are SSR/5* rarity (and are limited-release, only appearing in their own events or other major landmark dates);
    • Aŋra Mainiiu is the rarest thing you could ever hope to get in the Friend Point gacha, or any gacha overall (and is pretty much a Joke Character mechanics-wise); although his insane drops during "Fate/Accel Zero Order" (where he debuted in)note  made him a prized Servant.
    • Gorgon is a story-locked SR/4*—and is probably one of three Avengers you can conceivably use on most days... even if she came after the seventh Order. Salieri is a similar case, albeit as a R/3* he's much easier to get...but he's only available after completing the first Lostbelt of the second storyline;
    • Avenger of Shinjuku is the only one to actually be available in any gacha at any time, and even then they're an SR Servant so there's only a 3% chance of possibly rolling them in any given roll (and then you need to get them, alone, out of the sea of other 4-stars).
  • Revenge: Their primary motivation with even two different unique skills reserved for Servants in this class:
    • Avenger, which has them accumulate others' malice and hatred directed towards them and convert it into power.
    • Oblivion Correction (Memory Correction in the Japanese version) makes Avengers remember every single wrong that was done to them, even when others have forgotten — humans by nature being a species that forget many things in life — even when they know there are more wonderful things than revenge; using the lapses in people's memories as an means to empower their critical hits.
  • Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors: They have an advantage against Rulers and a weakness against Moon Cancer. They also are both strong and weak against Berserkers and have resistance to Beasts.
  • Token Evil Teammate: These Servants are antiheroes and villains defined by hatred and rage. Despite that, if summoned they will aid Chaldea just as the other Servants do, if a bit reluctantly in some cases.
  • Tragic Monster: All of them. While they are all psychopaths at best and would go on a killing spree without hesitation if given free rein, it's not like any of them wanted to be what they are. Aŋra Mainiiu's torture, Dantes' betrayed past, Jeanne Alter's twisted nature, Medusa's curse, the Hessian's similar betrayal & beheading, Lobo's being hunted down for sport and accusations of Salieri poisoning Mozart were all because of circumstances beyond their control, and in all cases they are pretty bitter about their cursed fate.

A name attributed to the omnimalevolent Big Bad of Zoroastrianism, one of the oldest religions in human history. However, in reality this is an ordinary young villager who lived in the Middle East during the 5th Century. He was randomly chosen by his village to become a sacrificial scapegoat for "All The Evils In The World", under the childish theory that if all the evil in the world was concentrated within a single person, then logically the rest of the villagers would be free of sin. He was ritualistically tortured and cursed until he went insane with hatred, and was not even allowed to die until he finally succumbed to old age. Ironically, his death calmed the hearts of the villagers, meeting the requirements of a "heroic sacrifice" and qualifying him to become a Heroic Spirit.

As he was an unremarkable human in life, his combat ability and parameters as a Heroic Spirit are extremely low. Yet he also exists as the living embodiment of humanity's desire for a singular God of Evil to blame all of their sin upon. If this desire was to come into contact with an artifact such as the Holy Grail, which exists to grant the wishes of mankind, it may bring forth an ultimate evil unto the world.

He is the Greater-Scope Villain of Fate/stay night and Fate/Zero, and makes his first appearance in this form in Fate/hollow ataraxia as the original Avenger-class Servant and main character. During the game, he made his official debut in the "Fate/Accel Zero Order" event.

  • Ace Custom: Unlike the backs and borders of Class Cards which reflect typical rarities (Gold, Silver, etc.), his are grey and black, reflecting his unique nature if being somewhat misleading as to his actual strength.
  • Adaptational Villainy: The version of him in the "Fate/Accel Zero Order" event never underwent his Character Development in Fate/hollow ataraxia so he's still as callow and villainous as he was when he was corrupting the Greater Grail.
  • Answers to the Name of God: A bunch of villagers used curses to outright remove whatever name he was born with and renamed him Aŋra Mainiiu for the Zoroastrian God of Evil in the Third Grail War. When the Einzbern family tried to summon the god of myth, they got the closest possible result: Some nameless villager with no actual powers or abilities who barely qualifies as a Heroic Spirit based on a technicality. Since his original name no longer exists, he answers to Aŋra Mainiiu now.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Despite being the All the World's Evil, the only evil things he did are corrupting the Holy Grail, sending a shadow entity to devour people... and groping Mash's breasts.
  • Attack Reflector: His Noble Phantasm reflects any pain inflicted on him back to its attacker, which manifests as a buff in this game. The catch is, he must survive that attack, but his squishy HP and Avenger class modifier make it kinda hard to use.
  • Back from the Dead: His bond CE allows him to revive once during a battle with 20% of his HP. His upgraded third skill revives him with 50% of his HP if he dies within six turns of its use, and they can both be stacked. In a case of Gameplay and Story Integration, this is why he "survived" the attack from Assassin Emiya at the end of "Fate/Accel Zero Order". In his own words, "Dead, but not really dead. You see, resurrection is my speciality."
  • Balance Buff: His Interlude upgrades his third skill with a 50% Guts buff that lasts for six turns, essentially turning it from a Death-or-Glory Attack into an actually viable skill for combat. Granted, he still needs help staying alive, but now he can draw the full benefits of the skill's Quick buff with less fear of signing his own death warrant in the process.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: His backstory is that he was an ordinary villager, scapegoated as the incarnation of all the world's evil, and was ritualistically tortured until he died consumed by hatred for the world and humanity.
  • Bored with Insanity: His very being is so mired with malice and misery that he's gotten quite used to the wickedness worming around his psyche. Ironically, his resulting levelheadedness free of the mania that plagues his fellow Avengers potentially makes him the most evil of them all as the horrors he perpetrates are done out of choice rather than instinct, allowing him to orchestrate some intricately vile manipulations as seen in the original game.
  • Bring It: At the end of "Fate/Accel Zero Order", he's terribly vulnerable and has nowhere to hide from Assassin EMIYA who outclasses his regular self in many respects. Despite this, he shows no fear at the idea of facing off with him and instead takes the time to get out some trash talk before they charge at each other.
  • Call-Back: When asked for what he hates, he mentions that he would rather not encounter a certain hero of justice again, stating that he'd just hurt his stomach if he tried to devour him, referencing how Shirou Emiya managed to power through his curse in the Fate route of Fate/stay night.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: His Noble Phantasm causes him to transform into his werewolf-like Shade form, though it is hardly an improvement and only has the effect of reflecting back the damage done to him.
  • Continuing Is Painful: He has the potential to wear down any enemy by just resurrecting himself after getting killed, but he's quite adverse to pain and is usually very lazy.
  • The Corruption: He is the entity responsible for the Holy Grail's corruption, embodied by Dark Irisviel; and his curse of hatred is what blackened Saber into Saber Alter. The Babylonia chapter, however, indirectly begins to throw some questions at the idea that the spirit of a lone, ritualistically-tortured villager would be capable of this kind of power by himself, even with the Grail backing him up.
  • Death-or-Glory Attack: His third skill, Murderous Intent/Annihilation Wish, kills himself 5 turns after use, but grants him a Quick buff that becomes stronger with each of said turns (at max rank being 40% on the 1st turn and 200% on the 5th turn, making it the strongest Quick buff in the game). This can be mitigated with his bond CE as well as his 6-turn Guts buff gained from his Interlude upgrade, which turns it into The End of the Four Nights.
  • Eldritch Abomination: While Aŋra Mainiiu only appears as a Servant, it's noted in his lore that after he was defeated in the Third Grail War, the Fuyuki Grail tried to grant the wish of the ancient Zoroastrians for him to become the incarnation of All the World's Evil. This resulted in the weakest Heroic Spirit corrupting the Fuyuki Grail in order to be reborn as a genuine god of evil. In this state Aŋra Mainiiu is eerily similar to a Beast-class entity, generating a corruptive black ooze capable of blackening Servants into evil versions of themselves, which the Babylonia chapter notes is similar to Tiamat's Sea of Life, and is able to consume virtually any source of magic energy it comes in contact with, including and perhaps especially Servants.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Due to being Made of Evil and just being genuinely insane, he has a hard time wrapping his head fully around positive emotions and acts that come from them. This is especially when he's the one trying to feel them. His bond CE and final bond line, though, shows he does have at least some memory of a certain cleric, which helps him a little.
  • Evil Knock Off:
    • "All the World's Evil", the cursed black mud released by Aŋra Mainiiu from inside the Grail, is a weaker variant of Tiamat's Sea of Life/Chaos Tide, with both being a cursed black ooze that overwrites a person's being and remakes them into its minions. Aŋra Mainiiu's black mud corrupts Servants into blackened, evil versions of themselves — as seen with Saber Alter — and devours what it can't corrupt, but can be resisted and overpowered if given time or egotism — as seen with Gilgamesh and Shirou. Tiamat's black mud will devour everything and rewrite it instantly, leaving only those who can join her willingly with their wills intact.
    • Aŋra Mainiiu believes himself to be this to the Beasts in general, with all his properties being inferior versions of theirs. The one thing he going for him is that being of human origin makes him strong against the entirely non-human Beasts.
  • Eviler Than Thou: His lucidity unique among them members of his Class makes his wicked acts all the more reprehensible.
  • The Faceless: Aŋra Mainiiu's true form is that of a beast-like silhouette as shown in his Noble Phantasm. The form shown on his card art comes from Fate/hollow ataraxia, when he was masquerading as Emiya Shirou.
  • Fragile Speedster: His only noteworthy stat is A-Rank in Agility, but his E-Rank in both Strength and Endurance, combined with the Avenger class's squishy nature, means he's probably only going to get a few brief hits in before he's torn apart.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Of Fate/stay night and Fate/Zero, being the entity behind the Holy Grail's corruption. The Servant himself is not entirely evil per se (as seen in Fate/hollow ataraxia), it's his curse to embody all the evils in the world that corrupted the Grail. At least, that's what the Fuyuki characters thought. Grand Order's plot begins to bring up some between-the-lines questions about the true nature of the powers attributed to him.
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: His second Noble Phantasm, The End of the Four Nights, is the ability to create a four-day loop, as seen in Fate/hollow ataraxia. His Interlude upgrade replaces his third skill with this, and in addition to the original effects grants him a 6 turn Guts buff that effectively cancels out the original self-killing after 5 turns and can stack with other Guts buffs. For some reason, it's solely restricted to Fuyuki City but Gameplay and Story Segregation hits once again.
  • Hypocritical Humor: He tries to mock EMIYA over his repeated insistence on stopping his plans when their dialogue implies that for as futile as it is, EMIYA constantly succeeds in defeating and killing him.
  • I Am A Humanitarian: He mentions that if he tried to eat Shirou Emiya again he'd just hurt his stomach — referencing the time Shirou was doused in All the World's Evil in the Fate route of Fate/stay night and overcame it through sheer force of will.
  • Irony: The being meant to become All The Evils In The World can be strong against Beast class servants, which is made up of beings that are called the Evils of Humanity. For extra irony, he's one of the weakest summonable Servants, yet he's also part of the very class that works best against some of the most powerful ones of all.
  • Joke Character: In the Third Fuyuki Grail War, he was killed very quickly due to being pathetically weak. In gameplay, his skills and Noble Phantasm are all detrimental for using him, with his third skill killing him after usage. His Noble Phantasm Verg Avesta is useless if enemies don't attack him or do sufficient damage to damage themselves. This is all lore-accurate and contributed to his popularity. He himself lampshades it in his My Room lines.
    "Aah... I’m beat... how many times have I died already... isn’t it hard for you too? Hurry up, pull a better Servant and make your life easier already."
  • Lethal Joke Character:
    • With enough healing and taunting, he can carry the day versus the Chaldea Summer re-run Challenge Quest as he can bypass those crabs' ridiculous defense buff due to his NP redirecting damage.
    • As a boss, he suddenly becomes one of the scariest Servants to face due to the fact that he generally has the HP to survive long enough to make his NP to work and the fact that it goes through both invincibility and evade means that you either have to hope that you can do just enough damage that he doesn't just decimate you with the redirected damage or that you have Guts ready on your team.
  • Living Shadow: His true form is a black silhouette, which can assume a monstrous form.
  • Loss of Identity: The villager who would one day become All the Evils in the World is completely gone. Aŋra Mainiiu doesn't remember his old name, and he never speaks of that time save when describing the tortures he went through. It's most telling when his current human appearance shares no similarities with his past self, save its gender.
  • Luminescent Blush: While groping Mash's chest during the second part of the Fate/Accel Zero Order, his blushing is the only facial expression that can be seen on his first stage form.
  • Made of Evil: He is the incarnation of All The World's Evil, and hatred is his natural state of existence. That's not to say he can't learn and understand other emotions like love, it's just that hatred is the emotion that comes most naturally to him.
  • Meta Guy: Periodically comments on gameplay mechanics (see above).
  • Mythology Gag: Any Grail given to him for Palingenesis will install a dark purple icon on the top of his portrait instead of the usual golden one, indicating how he's "corrupted" it with his evil — a reference to his time spent indwelling the Greater Grail in Fate/Zero and Fate/stay night.
  • The Nondescript: His Interlude which is only accessible by reaching max bond level, reveals that no one, not even the protagonist, the person he supposedly has achieved an incredibly close relationship with, has actually interacted with him that much because he is just that forgettable, and they are at first confused at who this Servant approaching them is. Even Dr. Roman is surprised the protagonist even uses him in the first place.
  • Only Sane Man: Unlike the other Avengers, he's primarily lucid and laidback. This doesn't mean he's incapable of villainy, he's just the easiest to talk to out of the bunch.
  • Power Glows: His final Ascension makes all his tattoos and hair glow blue. His bond CE implies this is partially because he begins to remember Caren and Bazett.
  • The Power of Friendship: Ironically for All The World's Evil, he has to rely on this in order to win a fight, especially if he uses his Noble Phantasm. Because he's so weak and his Noble Phantasm only takes effect if he takes damage and survives the enemy's strike, having a good partner able to take advantage of that damage is necessary. The description of his Noble Phantasm even outright says he can't defeat his enemies alone.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: His Stage 2 art.
  • Retired Monster: Apart from how it harmed those he grew to be fond of, he has few regrets regarding his previous atrocities and says he wouldn't mind giving the Greater Grail another whirl if given the chance.
  • Shapeshifter Default Form: While he's technically just a Living Shadow, his preferred appearance is the one shown from Stage 2 onwards, as a nod to how he assumed Shirou's form during Fate/hollow ataraxia and grew to enjoy being Shirou. He doesn't even remember his original appearance as the simple villager chosen as a sacrifice.
  • Sinister Silhouettes: His Stage 1 card art shows him in silhouette with only his eyes visible.
  • Situational Sword: Outside of the Guts effect, his Bond CE gives him class advantage against Beast-class enemies regardless of their specific designation.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": The official spelling his name is "Aŋra Mainiiu" as opposed to the commonly used Angra Mainyu. Neither of them are wrong or really different in this case, just ""Aŋra Mainiiu" can be considered a much older way of spelling it.
  • Unperson: His true name was erased from the Avesta, so he is only known as Aŋra Mainiiu or Avenger and Shirou Emiya during Fate/hollow ataraxia.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Never wears a shirt and shamelessly shows off his chest, showing that Shirou was pretty ripped even before he became EMIYA.
  • Walking Spoiler: His existence isn't even known until the Heaven's Feel route of Fate/stay night, and even hollow ataraxia conceals full details on him for some time; even knowing about him involves spoiling that the Holy Grail is actually an Artifact of Doom.

An Italian classical music composer who had a fierce rivalry with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and allegedly poisoned him to death.

He appears as an antagonist in the first chapter of Cosmos in the Lostbelt.

  • Berserk Button: Mozart. His hatred of Mozart is practically tied with Berserker of El Dorado's hatred of Greek Heroes. He's been seen using self-suggestion to project his hatred on whatever he wants to fight, including things that have nothing to do with Amadeus (like giant monsters).
  • Bishounen Line: Horribly subverted. He loses his knockoff Mozart costume in his first Ascension, but fuses with it in his final ones into a monstrous parody of his hated rival.
  • Char Clone: He's cloaked in red, wears a mask in most of his ascensions, and is The Rival of someone connected to the main cast (Mozart). For added bonus, his voice actor has portrayed another Char clone, Rau Le Creuset, in the past, as well as voicing the man the original stole his name from.
  • Clothes Make the Superman: He normally has all the combat ability you'd expect from a pianist to the point that even Andersen is probably stronger than him as a Servant. Most of his power comes from the Wailing Facade, his red costume made of the legends and rumors around him and the Man in Grey. Unfortunately, when using said costume his sanity also drops to psychopathic levels, enabling his Noble Phantasm, a symphony of hatred and death that the living Salieri would have never been able to compose. Even when you set him to his second Ascension which is as close to normal as he gets, he still has to don the outfit because otherwise he's useless in battle.
  • Composite Character: His existence has been fused with "Man in Grey", a Reaper-like figure who is tied to Mozart's work on composing Requiem and his death.
  • Cool Mask: His face is fully covered by one for his first stage, initially tricking the protagonists into thinking he's an Alter version of Mozart during the first Lostbelt.
  • Enemy Summoner: In contrast to Mozart's Summon Backup Dancers, he summons white-clad violinists (who look more like mooks from Assassin's Creed) to attack his enemies.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Aside from Mozart, he apparently doesn't get along with Phantom Of The Opera, stating that "The Rhythm is incompatible".
  • Evil Counterpart: He's designed as one to his famous rival, Mozart, with a sinister Red and Black and Evil All Over version of his outfit and mask. His ascensions evoke demon imagery, in contrast to Mozart's ascensions which evoke angels. It's to the point that Chaldea originally believe he's an Alter version of Mozart when first encountered in the first Lostbelt.
  • Forced into Evil: While he and Mozart were peers who mutually respected each other in life, Memetic Mutation corrupted his Saint Graph, turning him into the diabolical murderous rival that people believed him to be courtesy of a very high Innocent Monster Skill.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: Arguably the most severe case amongst Servants in-universe. Salieri in life was a good man who was friends with Mozart and even tutored his son in music, but the rumors that he poisoned his peer spiraled out of control and turned his Servant form into an EX-rank Innocent Monster. It's so bad that his Hidden Attribute is Earth - something reserved for Heroic Spirits who cannot be proven to exist by historians, despite the fact so much of Salieri's life is recorded - and his profile doesn't even list his origin as "Historical Fact", instead saying he's derived entirely from rumors and myths about Mozart's death.
  • Irony: Although he has a seething hatred of Mozart, as an Arts Crit Servant he actually benefits from teaming up due to the latter's highly complementary skill kit - it's actually quite rare to find another Servant as good as Mozart at providing a critical (no pun intended) mass of stars that lets even an Avenger like Salieri crit reliably.
  • Left the Background Music On: During the second fight against Lightning Emperor, Salieri playing a piano rendition of Mozart's Requiem overrides the normal battle music.
  • Loss of Identity: Fusing with the Gray Man and how warped he's become by his Innocent Monster skill has caused him to lose sight of who he is. If you have either version of Marie Antoinette, he thanks her because he vaguely remembers her brother's support was a great boon for him in life and then becomes confused at why he said that, questioning who he is.
  • Magic Music: He uses several of his compositions to attack the enemy. He is pivotal for taking down Ivan the Terrible because the sheer anger he imparts when playing music is enough to lower the enemy's defenses.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: All three of his skills operate primarily on 'charges', triggering only three times before being consumed, with unused charges vanishing after five turns (just in time to be activated again, should they be max level). While such a mechanic has been used experimentally in a smattering of Servants prior, Salieri is the first one whose kit revolves entirely around it - and thus fits naturally with Tamamo and her ability to lower skill cooldowns with her NP, even moreso than EMIYA Alter.
  • Musical Assassin: A more straightforward version. Whenever he plays/conducts using his magical suit, damage will be made.
  • Obviously Evil: Take the general Final Fantasy-villain design aesthetic of Mozart and combine it with the motifs of the Demon Pillars/Goetia himself, and you pretty much have Salieri's final ascension.
  • One-Winged Angel: His Stage 3 form. During the events of the Russian Lostbelt his embracement of his anger changes him from his first form into his third as he passionately plays a version of Mozart's Dies Irae.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are red beneath his mask.
  • Rule of Symbolism: His final Ascension art portrays his monstrous costumed form in a manner extremely similar to Mozart's final Ascension art, with a page titled "Memoir of Antonio Salieri" burning to nothing in front of him. A memoir is a historical account written by someone with personal knowledge or experience in the events.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: That pinstripe suit he wears at Stage 2 cannot get any snappier if it wanted to.
  • That Man Is Dead: And it gives him a serious identity crisis. He knows that he is Salieri, but also that the real Salieri is long gone and that he's just a corrupted bootleg. Murderous intent is his whole being, yet he's considerably unhappy that he feels so much hatred for a man he should have nothing but respect for. He ponders about the worth of his existence quite often.
  • While Rome Burns: Ultimately chooses to stay behind in the collapsing Lostbelt in order to soothe the Yaga children with his music as their world is destroyed around them.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: As noted above, he didn't fall into this in life, but as an Avenger, he fits.

Lobo was a gray wolf who became famous after featuring in Seton’s Wild Animals I Have Known. In the vast American pasture of the Currumpaw plains, he killed over 2,000 cattle in the space of 5 years and 250 sheep in a single night without eating them. Employed as a hunter, Seton decided that instead of directly facing Lobo, he would make use of his mate, the white wolf Blanca. The curious Blanca was caught in a bear trap and killed. Seeking his mate’s corpse, Lobo was finally caught in a trap. The captured Lobo refused all meals from humans and died just like that.

The nameless Hessian riding Lobo came to America after being hired by the British government and got his head blown off after receiving a cannon fire. Not noticing he was dead, he roamed about Sleepy Hollow.

They are villains in Shinjuku. They also make a... memorable... cameo during Death Jail Summer Escape.

  • Canis Major: Lobo is at least 3m long from head to tail, or at least large enough to carry a grown man on its back.
  • Chained by Fashion: Lobo still wears all four traps used to bind him in the original story.
  • Composite Character: Avenger of Shinjuku, when taking into account both the rider and its steed, is a combination of two American tales, as shown by its True Name, Hessian Lobo. The rider is the infamous Headless Horseman/Hessian soldier from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow while the steed is the wolf Lobo from Lobo, the King of Currumpaw. Their invisibility is provided by another Phantom,The Invisible Man, Jack Griffin.
  • Cutlass Between the Teeth: Lobo carries one of Hessian's swords in his mouth in their Third Ascension or while performing their Noble Phantasm.
  • Defrosting Ice King: At first and during Shinjuku, Lobo is full of hatred to any human, even as your servant. However, where you fully get his trust, he's beaming a very happy smile while barking like a puppy.
    • During the Valentine's 2018 event, if you've gotten him as a servant, Lobo takes you for a ride on him in a run through a plain of grass as thanks for giving him chocolate (which the protagonist hilariously tries to convince him not to eat, since it's bad for dogs). And he thinks about them before he goes to sleep. It's clear that the protagonist is someone Lobo's grown very fond towards.
  • The Dividual: Archer of Shinjuku explains that the two of them are akin to two individuals acting as a single Servant (like Anne and Mary) instead of being a Servant and its ride.
  • Go Through Me: After being defeated for the final time, not only does Hessian block an attack from Saber Alter for Lobo's sake, he also drops his weapons to keep her at bay to allow Lobo enough time to gnaw out his leg out of a trap so he can at least run away.
  • Happy Flashback: Their Bond CE has Lobo fondly remembering the days when he was with his pack, before the mutual desire of man and beast to kill each other had him lose it all.
  • Headless Horseman: The rider himself lacks a head as he is the Headless Horseman.
  • Horse of a Different Color: Hessian rides on Lobo instead of mounting his classical horse.
  • Interface Spoiler: Averted. Like its fellow Shinjuku Servants, its True Name is kept a secret, even when summoned from the gatcha, until it is learned in the story. Until then, it is referred to as "Avenger Shinjuku".
  • Kill All Humans: Lobo wants to slaughter every last human for the crimes committed against him and his fellow wolves.
  • Oddly Shaped Sword: Hessian's "falciform" resemble massive hooks with additional spikes for stabbing
  • Off with His Head!: The intent of their Noble Phantasm, Frieren Scharfrichter: Execution of the Far-Away One, is the beheading of one's foe. While it lacks the power to guarantee the kill like say Gae Bolg, it can still alter the world in such a way that it makes the task easier than normal.
  • Recurring Boss: They're fought a total of four times in the main quest, the first two times they're fought as a Rider and the last two as an Avenger. Each fight has some kind of gimmick like them inflicting debuffs on your party or activating a one-hit dodge every turn.
  • Spider Limbs: By the third ascension (or while using their Noble Phantasm), Hessian has giant tendrils growing from his back which he uses for stabbing.
  • The Unintelligible: It is stated that all communication is impossible, but unlike the crazier Berserkers it is simply that it's hard to communicate when one is a wolf and the other has no head. A level of understanding is possible with a good enough bond level, but attempting actual dialogue is a waste of time.
  • Walking Spoiler: Like a lot of the Shinjuku Servants, trying to compile a trope listing for them while marking all the spoilers would make the page look like a CIA document. Even their nature as The Dividual is concealed at first.
  • When He Smiles: In his Final Ascension and in Bond Level 5, the wolf gives a genuine, happy smile.

The world's most popular revenge-seeking hero, popularly known as the Count of Monte Cristo. He was imprisoned in the hellish Château d'If due to a false charge by an unscrupulous conspiracy, but he did not fall to despair thanks to a mind of steel. He eventually acquired the treasure of Monte Cristo and swooped upon Paris, dragging down many French leading figures who deceived him into hell.

His True Name is Edmond Dantès, but he perceives himself to be a different person from the "Edmond Dantès" who was a seaman from Marseilles.

He first appeared in the Kara No Kyoukai collaboration event "Garden of Order" as a shadowy figure who planned to save Servants from Solomon. Within the game, he has the honor of being the first Avenger-class Servant, and debuted in the "Prison Tower" event. He also makes a brief but memorable appearance during Time Temple Salomon, and serves as a major character and ally in Shinjuku. He is also featured as the main character of the Fate/Chaldea Ace magazine's drama CD, which details his backstory before he started his revenge as told in the novel. He also appears as a missionary in Shimosa.

  • Adaptational Badass: While in the book, he was cunning and physically fit, in this game, he also has energy beam powers and is super fast. It's revealed in a Drama CD that the black fire powers comes from the treasure of Monte Cristo. It gives Edmond the flames of hell and the void and power equal to that from the age of mythology by forcing magic circuits and a magic crest into his body, which ultimately gives him the edge going against Roa.
    • During the final chapter when the protagonist and Mash push towards the time throne, Dantes stays behind to battle Andromalius on his own and is winning. All the while Andromalius curses their choice to try to use Dantes in their plans.
  • Anti-Hero: Much like the Dantes from the original literature, he's willing to help the heroes several times, but as an Avenger, he's willing to resort to ruthless methods to achieve his goals. Not to mention, he's the embodiment of Vengeance.
  • Ascended Glitch: His pose in battle seems to be a reference to Shimazaki's other Servant role, Arjuna, who had a glitch in his debut quest that would make him pose backwards.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: He's dressed in a nice post-revolutionary French suit, which is cloaked by a Badass Cape in his third ascension.
  • Balance Buff: The 9th set of Strengthening Quests gave him an upgrade to his noble phantasm, which on top of boosting damage, also inflicts any opponents hit with the Evil Curse debuff, which increases the damage one takes from the Curse Debuff. Combined with the release of Scathach-Skadi, this makes him a lot more viable.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: Twice now, he has appeared in the protagonist's soul to help defend when said soul is under magical attack. Once during the Prison Tower Event, and again during the second Lostbelt.
  • Beam Spam: His Noble Phantasm's finishing move is creating several speed-clones that simultaneously blast the opponent with energy beams.
  • Berserk Button: He goes ballistic when the saints of the Ruler class try to talk about the salvation of his soul. As an Avenger Servant, he is barred from the redemption the original Edmond Dantès eventually found and is pretty bitter about it.
  • Born Unlucky: To the point that, instead of having the E-rank Luck normally associated with this trope, his Luck stat is just completely blank.
  • Breakout Character: Due to his popularity, his event was one of the first to be rerun and he also was featured as the main character in a Drama CD detailing his backstory. His event was also the first to be adapted into a manga.
  • Catchphrase: "Wait, and hope."
  • The Cavalry: For the final battle in Shinjuku, he brings Andersen and Jeanne Alter to help out. He claims Dumas sent him to help.
  • Celebrity Paradox: Both he and his creator, Alexandre Dumas, are Servants in this franchise (Dumas being the "Fake" Caster of Fate/strange fake), which raises some interesting questions. When he knows there are other author Casters in Chaldea, he seems pleased.
  • Covered in Scars: His summer costume dress shows that he's scarred quite extensively from his time in Chateau D'lf.
  • Critical Hit Class: His NP is an Area of Effect that generates a decent amount of critical stars, and when combined with his two Quick cards for Quick chains he can rack up stars pretty well. However, he has very poor star weight as an Avenger, meaning that he likely won't be seeing much benefit from those stars, and the lack of any skill to increase his critical damage or star weight means he's crippled from fully utilizing the power of his high Attack stat compared to the Buster-oriented Jeanne Alter.
  • Determinator: The character himself was already this. Up to Eleven since as a Servant he has the skill Determination of Steel at rank EX.
  • Dub Name Change: A minor example. In Japan, he is officially named "The Count of Monte Cristo" in his profile, Saint Graph and battle UI, reflecting his reluctance to use his real name (with the one exception being "Prison Tower" for the NPC Dantes only). In the English server, he is explicitly named as "Edmond Dantès".
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He shows up in the "Garden of Order" event as a shadowy NPC in cutscenes.
  • Evil Laugh: He revels in doing these.
  • Expy: He was designed by Dangan Ronpa's artist Rui Komatsuzaki, and looks almost exactly like an older Nagito Komaeda wearing a hat. Coincidentally, this makes his Catch-Phrasenote  have more parallel with Nagitonote 
  • Fiction 500: The Count was always on this list, but as a Servant he has Golden Rule as an A-Rank skill. The Count effectively went from Rags to Riches, becoming the richest man in the world within the story.
  • Foil: He's described as being a foil to Aŋra Mainiiu. While the premiere Avenger was born out of wretchedness and rage, he eventually grew to appreciate love and nobility thanks to his companions. While Edmond was supported and cherished by several allies who helped make his revenge possible, he's stuck obsessing over hatred and retribution due to the infamy of his legend affecting his Saint Graph.
  • Foreshadowing: He quotes his final line from the book before vanishing at the end of "Garden of Order", hinting at his identity.
  • Glass Cannon: His attack power is the fourth strongest in the game, only behind Jeanne Alter, Cu Alter and Kintoki, he hits all classes save Moon Cancer for at least neutral damage, and his Determination of Steel increases it even further when used. On the other hand, his HP is very unexceptional, he only resists the Ruler class who are more along the lines of a Stone Wall anyways, his deck and NP lean more towards using Quick chains (which hampers his overall damage potential), he has a Class Skill that constantly increases his NP gauge at the cost of decreasing the entire team's resistance to debuffs, and he even has abnormally low resistance to instant-kill attacks. All of this contrasts him even more to the Stone Wall Ruler class.
  • Guardian Entity: He has become one for the protagonist's mental landscape, fighting off evil spirits in a Battle in the Center of the Mind during his Interlude and the second Lostbelt.
  • Heroic Second Wind: His Noble Phantasm, Attendre, Espérer, grants this, bringing someone back from the brink of death with a temporary boost in all Parameters.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's violent, brooding, and cruel, but never before has a spirit of vengeance been so obviously Tsundere.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: The design shown for the Drama CD reveals he used to have this.
  • Morality Pet: His mistress Haydee is practically the only thing that prevented him from being an outright Revenge Before Reason. It's also explained that the only reason he's an Avenger is because Haydee is not there to rein him in.
  • Nice Hat: And he likes it so much that he wears it even while on the beach during the Servant Summer Festival event.
  • Prisons Are Gymnasiums: His stay in the Château d'If in the book gave him unusual strength and excellent night vision. Here it gets exaggerated into Enfer, Château d'If, a Noble Phantasm that gives him Beam Spam powers. The mental power of steel fostered in the hellish Château d'If was converted into a Noble Phantasm. Essentially, he forces his body to keep up with his extremely high-speed thinking, causing him to approach Speed Blitz levels.
  • Red Baron: The Count of Monte Cristo.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Possibly the reason why he calls Florence Nightingale "Mercedes", as it was the name of the woman he loved before his fall. At first she was amnesiac and needed some kind of name, but he still calls her that long after that matter was resolved and both of them moved to Chaldea, much to her annoyance. The Drama CD features another one of his lovers, Haydée, who looks very much like the female protagonist (down to her orange hair).
  • Revenge: One of fiction's most legendary cases of Best Served Cold, and the main reason he is an Avenger. Dantès describes himself as devoid of love or compassion, driven only by "the black flame of grudge that blazes itself dazzlingly only by means of hatred and revenge."
  • Spanner in the Works: He explains at the end of the Prison Tower event that Solomon had cursed the protagonist with an Evil Eye Deadly Gaze in London; to have their soul Dragged Off to Hell. He found the King of Magic's lack of hatred offensive, and repurposed the Curse to suit his own whims. This also gave the Protagonist a way out.
  • That Man Is Dead: He doesn't actually consider himself Edmond Dantès as he has been summoned as an Avenger and thus will continue to harbor evil desires of revenge until he dies, unlike the Dantès of the book who let them go. This is one of the reasons the protagonist knows that the man who claims to be "Edmond Dantès" in Shinjuku is fake, because the real one always calls himself "the Cavern King".
  • Token Good Teammate: While he's a lunatic like most Avengers, his psychosis revolves around protecting the innocent and punishing the guilty rather than wanton misanthropic genocide. He can still be a bitter Jerkass about it and isn't afraid of hurting anyone who gets in his way, however.
  • Villain Respect: He freely admits that he admires Amakusa for his dream of salvation for the world, claiming there is no man who embodies Greed better than him. To a lesser extent, he also respects Jeanne for never giving in to hatred despite her hardships.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Thoroughly averted. Unlike other Heroic Spirits that come from recent history that have to rely on tricks or some thoroughly honed skill to compete, Dantès is ludicrously powerful for his time thanks to the power bestowed upon him by the treasure of Monte Cristo, making him able to stand up to mythical heroes and a Demon Pillar on his own.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Claims he doesn't like hurting women, yet the protagonist can point out that he fought Jeanne pretty savagely. He waves it off by comparing Jeanne to a fortress, and proceeds to kill Nightingale.

The version of Medusa after she consumed her sisters and became a monster, the mere shadow of her cursed growth. She is on the verge of a complete transformation from goddess to “Gorgon” and would not usually be summoned as a Servant, as she is essentially a threat to mankind.

She is a villain in the Babylonia chapter and appears in the Summer 2017 event.

  • Breath Weapon: The snakes in her hair fire laser beams from their mouths, both individually and collectively.
  • Call-Back: Her NP transforms her temporarily into her full Gorgon form, as seen in Medusa's flashback at Fate/hollow ataraxia.
  • Demonic Possession: Medusa spends the Babylonia chapter as a vessel for Tiamat, including having her name changed to hers in boss battles. This actually zig-zags - at first it's subverted as Medusa is fully in control of her actions and is harnessing Tiamat's power, but Tiamat is allowing this because their goals are in alignment. Once Gorgon fails, Tiamat decides it's time to kick things into higher gear.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: She's set up as the final threat to Babylonia, but unfortunately, killing her just sets up the real threat to Uruk and humanity.
  • Double Unlock: She can only be rolled from the story gacha after beating Babylon.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Her full Gorgon form is that of a huge, indescribable creature forming from many snakes with Glowing Eyes of Doom.
  • Eye Beams: Her full-on Gorgon form fires a massive laser from her single eye.
  • Gold and White Are Divine: Her third and final ascensions replace her black outfit with white and gold, matching her wings and gold scales.
  • Gorgeous Gorgon: Without mincing words, Medusa remains alluring (if unsettlingly vamp-ish) even in this form. Bonus points for having been the Trope Namer.
  • I Hate Past Me: She has My Room dialogue where she hates gazing upon her younger selves, Euryale, and Stheno, as it reminds her of what she's become. In Babylonia she desperately attempts to deny Ana's presence as a result.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Several of her My Room dialogue lines make it clear she seeks to eat the protagonist when given the chance.
  • Kill All Humans: Babylonia's Gorgon loathes humanity and takes any chance she can to murder humans around them or bring them back to her temple for worse fates. The protagonist is the only one she's even willing to spare as a pet in Babylonia, while her Servant counterpart wants to turn on them.
  • Light Is Not Good: Her third ascension puts her in a gold and white color scheme, but she's still every bit as terrifying and murderous as before.
  • Medusa: As implied by her name, this version of Medusa fits the traditional description of a Gorgon, with living snakes for hair and golden wings.
  • Mythology Gag: Her reaction to seeing Perseus is to immediately come up with ways to kill him and make him suffer.
  • Odd Friendship: In Babylonia with Quetzacoatl and Kingu, both of whom care about her in their own way.
  • Super Strength: Like Asterios, she has A++ Strength due to being a monster, not a human.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Kingu and Gorgon have been sparing human children during their slaughter of humanity.
  • You Will Be Spared: She says, of the "I'll make your death painless" variety, if you max out her bond.

A Jeanne d'Arc of vengeance created by Gilles de Rais using the Holy Grail. As a Heroic Spirit and dark counterpart of the actual Jeanne, she was originally summoned by Gilles in the Ruler class, but can later be summoned by Chaldea in the Avenger class.

Gilles wished upon the Holy Grail for the Jeanne d'Arc he pictured in his mind, one who would share his ideals (and prejudices) and take vengeance upon France for burning her at the stake. However, because the real Jeanne possessed the purity of a true Saint, the possibility of "summoning a different side" of her was zero. Thus Gilles settled for the next best thing and created an imperfect copy of Jeanne: a vengeful holy woman who speaks of justice and cuts down her enemies without hesitation or regret; a blackguard commanding an army of dragons, known and feared as the "Dragon Witch".

Despite being a fictional character, it is possible under the unique circumstances of the Grand Order for this dark version of Jeanne to be summoned by Chaldea's FATE system.

She is the main antagonist of the Orleans Chapter (as a Ruler). She would later become a playable Servant as an Avenger, as part of the "Da Vinci and 7 Counterfeit Heroic Spirits" event (which she was also the true villain of). She's also a major ally in Shinjuku.

  • Adorkable: In a very weird way. She's wrathful, doesn't really care about morality, and not entirely sane, but she tries so hard to hide her softer sides and play to the "evil" image that she undermines her own villainy and comes across as much goofier than the other Alter Servants. It's lampshaded constantly in "Da Vinci and 7 Counterfeit Heroic Spirits" by ally and enemy alike, with the fake Hector in particular referring to her as "adorable".
  • Ahoge: One hint that she's not as much of a hardass as she really wants to present herself as - she's an Alter with a very prominent ahoge. And, fittingly, at her core she's more of a goofy character than anything.
  • Allergic to Love: Zigzagged. She claims to be disgusted by all forms of affection directed towards her, and considers her feelings for her Master to be akin to nausea. But she also made a bunch of pretty boys to hang out with and have love/hate relationships with and grows increasingly close to the player as her bond level goes up. Assuming her objections aren't a front she's putting on, it's likely she wants to pursue love but gets nervous and uncomfortable when it comes to actually acting on that desire.
  • Animation Bump: Her playable Avenger counterpart comes with new animations for her attacks and Noble Phantasm, and new artwork.
  • Arc Villain: Main antagonist of the Orleans chapter of the game by summoning Berserk Servants and running rampant across France. She also served as this for the Da Vinci event.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Despite her looks and twisted nature, those are not the reason why she is an Avenger, unlike others who had been tormented or had a bad reputation in life (since her original class is Ruler); she only becomes one for her revenge against Chaldea and Altria Alter over Orleans and the Christmas 2015 event, which kicks in with "Da Vinci and the Seven Counterfeit Heroic Spirits" where she returns with a vengeance.
  • Artificial Family Member: Jeanne Alter was originally created by Gilles de Rais as his own twisted version of Jeanne d'Arc. In the da Vinci counterfeit event, Gilles was cast as the "father who gets yelled by his daughter" archetype. Furthermore, the original Jeanne treats her Alter version like a little sister.
  • Battle Aura: She is covered by a dark aura when she is fought as Ruler Alter in Orleans. Her later appearances especially as Avenger no longer has it.
  • Black Swords Are Better: Played With. Her version of La Pucelle is a black sword to vanilla Jeanne's silver, and while it's not an EX-Rank NP that can annihilate anything, it's still incredibly destructive one that doesn't kill her after one use.
  • Boyish Short Hair: In Stage 1 and 2, her hairstyle is essentially the same as vanilla Jeanne's but without the braid, making it much shorter. It doesn't stay this way for stage 3 and 4 however. She also wears it this way when she's using her alternate costume that allows her to battle in her Shinjuku clothes.
  • Breakout Character:
    • The breakout character of Grand Order; the only possible competition she has for being the trope's biggest F/GO example is Ereshkigal. She was originally intended to be a one-off curiosity to kick the game off and a freebie Servant given out in her Orleans form, but due to the immense popularity of her concept and of the character herself, she was given her own focus event, bumped up in rarity, made into Power Creep personified and played a large role in a story chapter as an ally Servant. She has also become one of the primary merchandising focuses of ancillary GO goods, all driven by (nigh-relentless) fan demand.
    • As just one example: when Jeanne Alter finally hit the gacha for the first time in mainland China, the desire for her was so strong that it catapulted F/GO clear to the top of China's mobage charts.
    • The same thing happened during her NA debut. Her release made F/GO the highest grossing iOS game on the first day of her debut banner, and it ranked 5th on the highest grossing apps on the App Store that day.
    • To put even more of a point on it: she is the second Servant to ever get more than one free variant version (Santa Jeanne Alter in Christmas #2, and Summer Jeanne Alter Berserker in Summer #3). And even then, the multitude of Liz variants were done more for comedy than anything; the multiple Jeanne Alters are fed almost entirely by her popularity.
  • Character Development: She doesn't really regret what she did in Orleans, but for her interlude as a playable Servant she takes the protagonist to Orleans before a new sub singularity can form based on the resentment the people have for her. It's noted that her attempts to take responsibility for her actions has actually made her worthy of being a proper Servant.
  • Cloning Blues: Actually feels highly insecure about her situation as Jeanne's shadow. This is what kicked off the Da Vinci Event storyline, and it comes up pretty prominently during Orleans, too.
    "There is no rule that says an imitation cannot defeat the original!"note 
  • Cool Sword: She freely uses La Pucelle, the sword representing her burning at the stake, something normally Too Awesome to Use for the normal Jeanne.
  • Critical Hit Class: Her Self-Modification skill boosts both her critical damage and star absorption, all in order to boost her high damage even further and make up for the fact the Avenger class hits most others for neutral damage and has low natural star weight.
  • A Darker Me: Subverted; she originally claimed she's this to Jeanne and even believed it herself, but the reality is that she's just a twisted copy made by the Holy Grail because the real Jeanne has no such darkness within her. This revelation... didn't go that well with her once she finally figured it out.
  • Death from Above: Ruler Alter's version of La Grondement Du Haine rains dark flames on multiple targets.
  • Death Seeker: In her final against Lobo, she claims all Avengers to be this on some level. Due to their physical inability to let of their hatred even when their revenge is rendered pointless, dying is the only thing that can truly release them from their suffering.
  • Determinator: Re-summoned herself through pure force of will, and her various fakes during the Da Vinci events are noted to try to make up for lack of skill with sheer passion (to the point that even Da Vinci reluctantly admits they could actually rival her own work).
  • Divergent Character Evolution:
    • The Ruler version met in Orléans is a pure Palette Swap of the regular Jeanne, minus the braid and with different skills. Even her Noble Phantasm had the same animation, with only the end result differing (a shining light with support effects for Jeanne and a damaging rain of darkness for Alter). The Avenger version, in addition to the new class, comes with a tweaked, more unique design, and new animation showing off a completely different fighting style (Jeanne exclusively uses her flag as a spear, while Alter prefers using her Flaming Sword's powers).
    • During her interlude, she returns to France to clean up the mess she left behind but clearly doesn't want to talk about it. Chaldea notes that her taking action like this is something that actually makes her worthy of being a heroic spirit.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": She doesn't like to be called Jeanne, only Jeanne Alter. Which makes sense because they're entirely different people.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: One very popular CE is referred to as 'Drunk Jeanne Alter', though the proper name is actually "Holy Night Dinner" and is the event CE for Christmas 2016. As can be guessed from the nickname, it shows a clearly smashed Jeanne Alter behind a bar with Caster Gilles working as the bartender. Well, it's probably a step up from Christmas 2015 where she was playing monopoly with Pierre.
  • Enemy Summoner: With her Personal Skill, Dragon Witch, she can apparently summon dragons to her aid, and empowers them. As a playable Servant, this skill acts like Charisma while adding another Attack buff on top to Servants with a Dragon attribute such as any version of Altria, Siegfried, Mordred, Kiyohime, Shuten-douji, any version of Bathory, Sieg, and Sigurd.
  • Enemy Without: Subverted. She claims to be Jeanne's dark side, but the real Jeanne had no such darkness. She was actually created whole-cloth by Gilles de Rais, on the image of the Jeanne he so desperately wanted. Her realization of this has left her with a complex, to say the least.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She finds Kiyohime's Yandere tendencies annoying to say the least, telling her bluntly that Kiyo is insane. This is a justified trope, since she also called out other servants and the protagonist for not calling out Kiyohime's Yandere behavior due to them being afraid of doing so.
    Since all the good guys will say nothing, I shall say it to you! ...Kiyohime, you are sick. If you can't even tolerate a lie, then go be a bitch or something. (evil laugh)
  • Evil Costume Switch: Jeanne's armor turns as dark as the rest of her clothes, her skin and hair become paler and her eyes turn yellow. She also loses her braid. The Ruler Alter version also loses her ahoge (like Altria Alter), but the Avenger version keeps it. Her third stage clothes are also more revealing than Ruler Jeanne.
  • Evil Is Hammy: In contrast to the Alter versions of Altria, EMIYA, and Cu, who tend to lean on The Stoic side of things, Jeanne Alter is much more emotive and tends to make loud, bold declarations.
  • Evil Knockoff: She's a twisted version of Jeanne D'Arc created by Caster Gilles through the Holy Grail after it failed to, or could not, bring the real one Back from the Dead.
  • Evil Laugh: One of her attack lines has her break out this trope.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: Ta gueule indeed.
  • Form-Fitting Wardrobe: Her casual outfit in the Shinjuku story chapter (which can be bought from the Da Vinci event rerun shop) is stylishly sensual as it is — and it doesn't even show any skin at that.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation:
    • Looking at her in-story personality and characterization, it would seem as if she feels inadequate compared to the pure and original Jeanne d'Arc. Within the metagame, however, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who wouldn't favor Jeanne Alter's Avenger class, massive attack stat and pro-active play-style use over the original Jeanne's defensive support usage.
    • Due to being some kind of evil spirit, Ruler Jeanne can simply exorcise her if she feels like doing it. But in-game, Jeanne Alter has class advantage over Ruler.
  • Glass Cannon: Even moreso than her fellows and a perfect contrast to vanilla Jeanne's Stone Wall status: her attack stat is the highest in the game to datenote  and her deck, skills and NP lends itself to a Buster-oriented fighting style to maximize her raw damage, but she has less HP than a significant number of four-star Servants and, of course, no defense bonus against any other Class except Ruler. Her third skill is a mixed blessing in this respect: it costs 1,000 HP to use, but also grants a turn of invulnerability and a Buster buff to further increase her damage.
  • Gratuitous French: Her Noble Phantasm's name, La Grondement Du Haine. French language uses gendered determiners even for genderless things, and in that case they got both wrong.
  • Harem Seeker:
    • Her wish for the Grail? She wants to have a love/hate relationship with a bunch of pretty and edgy boys and for them to accompany her while doing her avenging.
    • The fake Mona Lisas from the Da Vinci event were a distraction to disguise her true intentions to summon 7 fake Servants to accompany her. Said fakes are all pretty boys (and one girl) with characteristics from an otome game. Jeanne Alter herself doesn't realize any of the similarities until EMIYA, who, having been in an eroge himself, points this out to her.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: There are hints that part of the reason she tries so hard to present herself as a pure evil hardass is that she doesn't believe people could or will genuinely like her. So she plays the part of a villain to justify this to herself, only to be surprised all the more when the player and her counterfeits end up liking her anyway.
  • Hidden Depths: She is the mastermind of the counterfeiting incident in the Da Vinci event, yet Da Vinci outright claimed the counterfeits are as well made as if they were original, implying that Jeanne Alter may be one good artist.
  • Hypocrisy Nod: She thinks Moriarty's plan to destroy the world with a meteor is disgusting and recognizes she probably shouldn't criticize him because she once tried to destroy France with dragons.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: She desperately wants someone to love her, eternal violent rage and all. Her problem is her contradictory nature; she's shamelessly evil and Allergic to Love, meaning she'll reject any attempts at connecting. She's well aware of this too, adding more to her existential angst.
  • Instant Awesome: Just Add Dragons!: As she was made to essentially be anathema to the original Jeanne, she gained the power to control dragons when in Christian mythos dragons are essentially the worst enemies saints could fight outside of literal demons. Her Dragon Witch skill not only provides an attack buff to the party, but adds an additional buff to any Servants with the Dragon trait.
  • Jerkass Façade: She insists that she is a being of pure wrath and vengeance made manifest and so on. She really isn't. Best shown in the Da Vinci event, where she says that she created the counterfeit servants to be her minions. Everyone, from the members of Chaldea to the counterfeits themselves, know that she really made them to be her friends and-or lovers in classic Harem Genre scenarios.
  • Knight Templar: She believes that all that she does is just and done in God's name. That said she makes it clear that by doing these actions herself she is just as guilty as the people she is crusading against and fully expects to suffer in hell as punishment for her actions once she's made the world a better place.
  • Mirror Self: Is a separate character from the regular Jeanne, and fights against her.
  • Mundane Utility: When it's your birthday, she suggests using Fafnir as a candle lighter to commemorate the occasion.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain!: She's an insanely inept leader during the Orleans campaign. She forces all the Servants under her charge to undergo Mad Enhancement which either doesn't work because of compatibility issues or makes those like Vlad weaker as a result; the champions of Europe she enslaves for the irony actively try to sabotage her and the fiends of the nation who go along with her plans don't get along at all. And because of the way the Grail works, the more Servants she summons, the more that are Chain Summoned in turn, and because her lieutenants frequently leave one another to die to save their own hides while their foes work together, the protagonist's group eventually outnumbers hers. She even manages to squander warriors as powerful as Lancelot and fails to capitalize on Jeanne's doubts borne from all this happening so soon after her unjust execution because many of those Chain Summoned Servants help restore her faith in herself and France.
  • Playing with Fire: As opposed to the regular Jeanne, whose La Pucelle is a last resort suicide attack, Alter makes very liberal use of her La Grondement Du Haine: Roar, O Rage Of Mine's ability to summon flames and burning stakes. Makes sense, since Ruler Jeanne's represents her sainthood and martyrdom, while Avenger's is pure hatred for the ones who burned her. It is mentioned in-game that this version of Jeanne, because she is not the actual Jeanne, was never burned to death. She doesn't have the concept of being on fire killing her, thus she can handle her own flames.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: In stage 1 and 2, she has Boyish Short Hair. Stage 3 and 4... well, look at her picture and you get the idea.
  • The Power of Hate: She has a moment in Shinjuku where she stresses that all Avengers are so obsessed with filling a void inside themselves that they cannot help but lash out and destroy anything. It's powerful, but the hatred can never subside or be satisfied, so they just continue to burn themselves out until there's nothing left. As a result, she actually believes that whenever you see an Avenger, you should kill them for their own good. She does indeed nearly burn herself to death when trying to take out or at least stall Lobo, but shows up for a last minute dance with the protagonist after the singularity has been resolved.
  • Promoted to Playable: After her appearance as the Arc Villain of Orleans and a few non-playable appearances in events, she made her playable debut as a limited gacha servant for the Da Vinci event.
  • Psychotic Smirk: She demonstrates truly unsettling smirks and Slasher Smiles when angered, most notably when she was confronting Pierre Cauchon, Bishop of Beauvais, the man who sentenced the real Jeanne to die.
  • Rapunzel Hair: Her hair grows as long as her body by her third Ascension. Shinjuku gets rather silly with it; apparently she can lengthen or shorten her hair at will, to match her whims and current fashion. Granted, she does have the Self-Modification skill...
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Altria Alter's Blue. In any situation where the two are interacting, it's almost a given that Jeanne Alter will be shouting about something while barely holding back her anger (usually at the blackened Saber's passive-aggressive taunts) while Saber Alter maintains a calm and collected air even as she throws snide insults at Jeanne Alter.
  • Sempai/Kohai: One of her My Room lines has her comment on Aŋra Mainiiu, noting he's the original Avenger, before getting confused as to how he could possibly be in the same class as her before bemoaning that her sempai is so weak in comparison, being a Joke Character compared to her being one of the strongest servants.
  • Tsundere: Sometimes Jeanne's kindness manages to shine through all the bitterness. She'll of course immediately deny it. She is basically a tsundere main character from a Dating Sim (which is lampshaded by Dantes, of all people). This can be seen in My Room where she denies anytime she shows affection for the protagonist, and her bio states that despite her general bitterness, "one can perceive respect and affection for the Master at her core".
    • She gets recruited to Chaldea by needing to be convinced that yes they really would welcome her, only to back out at the last second and force them to fight her. Da Vinci describes this as being her way of salvaging her pride over her suffering a Talking the Monster to Death defeat.
    • When she reaches her third Ascension and trades out her armor for her new black dress, she delightedly begins to exclaim "it's wonderful" as if she's receiving it as a gift from the protagonist only to catch herself and try to downplay her reaction.
    • Her new My Room dialogue while wearing her Shinjuku outfit oozes this. At first she wants the protagonist to stare at her, only to get embarrassed when they actually do, saying that it disgusts her and makes her stomach squirm. However she also said something to that effect in the final moments of Shinjuku while dancing with the protagonist, so it's more likely she has a sudden case of the butterflies.
      J. Alter: "Now then, admire me, be mesmerized by me, as much as you want! *beat* W-wait, what are you doing staring at me like that? That’s disgusting! Eh? There’s such a thing as being too unreasonable? Like I care! It’s because my stomach squirms when you stare at me like that!"
  • Unknown Rival:
    • She has an inferiority complex towards the real Jeanne and wants to harass her, but Jeanne just considers her to be something like a naughty little sister and finds Jeanne Alter's attempts to retaliate cute.
    • Downplayed in her relationship with Saber Alter. She seems to see Saber Alter as a rival worth crushing and the feeling's mutual, but Jeanne Alter is a lot more heated about the rivalry while Saber Alter seems to be more ambivalent about it outside of a few chances to mock her.
  • You Are Worth Hell: She considers herself to be inevitably damned and doesn't want to drag her Master into it. However, by bond five, she accepts that they intend to stick with her until the end.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: Grade A, in case you think she wasn't designed to be titillating as it is. She goes down to Grade C using the Shinjuku outfit, however.

Moon Cancer

Moon Cancer is an irregular Extra Class exclusive to the Artificial Intelligence known as B.B., who became a virus that threatened the sanctity of the Moon Cell Automaton in a certain parallel world. Since she originated from the Moon Cell and grew within it, she can be considered the Moon's cancer - hence her unique class name.

She is strong against Avengers and weak against Rulers, and gets a specific bonus to damage against Beast III/R.

Her debut largely assumes that you've already played Fate/EXTRA CCC, so beware unmarked spoilers for that game.

B.B. is a digital anomaly that once caused a large-scale incident within the Moon Cell Automaton. She was once part of a health management Artificial Intelligence designed to manage the psychological states of human users within the Moon Cell. When this program developed romantic feelings for one user, it was considered "corrupted" and the lines of code containing these feelings were sealed away within a trash file, where they eventually gained sentience as the entity known as B.B.

With self-preservation as her new initiative, B.B. usurped control over the Moon Cell and integrated the data of every primordial creation goddess into herself, seizing the power of creation itself. She abducted a number of users to the forbidden "Far Side" sector of the system, creating a paradise for herself called the Sakura Labyrinth where she would be free to express her broken ideas of love upon her captives.

Using her newfound powers and access to the records stored within the Moon Cell, she created five Servant-like "Alter Egos" by amalgamating Servant data from the Moon Cell into new beings which represent the cast-off sides of her personality. While the Alter Egos were originally created to help B.B. manage and expand the Sakura Labyrinth, they are divergent personalities and thus do not always see eye-to-eye with their creator.

She's the primary antagonist of CCC and in this game, the SE.RA.PH chapter.

  • Advertised Extra: Downplayed. She does play an important role in the SE.RA.PH chapter, but contrary to what the trailers might have suggested she's not the main focus or even the main ally of Chaldea during the chapter. That honor would go to Meltryllis.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Turns out that there was a second BB AI that Kiara salvaged from the Moon Cell who, in the SE.RA.PH extra story, plans to Take Over the World.
  • Apparently Powerless Puppetmaster: BB pretended to be a completely subservient manager AI of SE.RA.PH as she couldn't do anything against Beast III-R herself. She then creates the BB slots and KP with the pretense that they're for bullying the Master from Chaldea, when in reality they're to help bring Kiara down.
  • Badass Longcoat: She certainly thinks it is, and she states that she would never take it off for her Ascensions.
  • Blow You Away: One of her attacks is to use the wind blowing her skirt upwards on the enemy.
  • Boss Subtitles: The subtitles that show up before major fights against specific enemies is intentionally kept hidden for her first boss fight. If one pauses it at just the moment it reveals BB's real nature: Advent Beast, though the only Beast you fight in the event is Kiara. Her having this is still a major red flag as it only appears for the Beasts themselves.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: She immediately demolishes it when she first appears by acknowledging her being voiced in a story cutscene and that she'll only be voiced for this part. It only continues to everything from her battle lines to her My Room quotes.
  • Composite Character: In-game function-wise, she carries many characteristics of the EXTRA universe's Sakura Matou (i.e. the medic AI of the Moon Cell) apart from her own—as seen in her Noble Phantasm below.
  • Deadly Doctor: Her Noble Phantasm involves loading a massive syringe and hitting the enemy with it—while transforming herself into a sexy nurse.
  • Double Agent: She's working for multiple sides at once, including Kiara, the Moon Cell, Zepar and even helping the player out in the end.
  • Final Boss: She frequently refers to herself as a "last-boss type kouhai" and demands respect because of it. She's not the main villain of the Seraphix sub-singularity though.
  • Good All Along: As can probably be guessed from her freebie Servant status and role in CCC, she is not a straight up villain but rather someone pressed into fighting the protagonist. Throughout the event she leaves small data packets for you to find which are eventually instrumental in bringing the real villain down to a point where she can be beaten. Her Chaotic Good alignment suggests while she can be a big Troll, she is reliable when necessary.
  • Hero-Worshipper: In her My Room dialogue, she has nothing but the most glowing of praise for Parvati. Being the good aspects of Sakura Matou, this resembles BB's relationship to the original Sakura NPC in Extra.
  • Hospital Hottie: In her NP, she dons a nurse outfit which leaves very little to the imagination. Again, it refers to her original nature as a Moon Cell medic AI.
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters: Maintains this opinion from her original appearance, with her senpai Hakuno being the only real exception. Several of her bond lines have her wondering just why the hell does the protagonist put up with her trolling and never lash out against her as she would expect a normal human to.
    BB: [when asked about her dislikes] I hate humans. I thought that was obvious.
    BB: Reaping what you sow and digging your own grave are things that only humans are capable of, so feel free to destroy yourself without any regard for the people around you.
  • Killer Game Master: Like her game of origin, she is the game master of the war in SE.RA.PH. She also dictates how the crossover event works in-universe, having set up the BB slots and locked away story and free battles behind gate keys in the shop.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: As per her source material, BB is painfully aware of all of the game mechanics and trends, taunting the player for thinking that she'll lose clothes like many other Servants as she ascends, making fun of the excess effort players put into grinding events, and handing players rarer items while making note of how easy ascension pieces are to find by comparison.
  • Leotard of Power: She's wearing one, beneath her skirt and cloak. She doesn't want to show it.
  • Loophole Abuse: She's supposed to delete herself after completing the task set upon her by the Moon Cell when she was sent to Seraphix but since it can't actually contact her to enforce this order, she just ignores it to do what she wants after beating Kiara.
  • Luck Stat: It used to be E but through hard work, effort and determination it got changed to EX. Her profile calls it an incomparable, unquantifiable miracle.
  • The Medic: Her skill set is based on support and healing. She's got a tank build with weak offense but high HP, a direct heal with a low cooldown, a supporting stun and her NP charges the party's NP gauge. Her final skill is the very powerful Self Modification at EX rank, but given which triangle she's a part of and her low attack, it's probably not worth trying to build her up as an attacker.
    • That said, until any other potential Moon Cancers get released, BB is (technically) your only real reliable unit against Avengers—which sort of elevates her to Combat Medic status as well.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • She remembers all her enemies from Fate/EXTRA CCC (Nero, Tamamo, EMIYA, Gilgamesh), and remarks that "Gilgilman" is as arrogant as ever.
    • She really hates Kiara and suggests that you should lock her in a room with a fairy tale author to annoy her.
  • No Hero Discount: Kiara using SE.RA.PH to merge with the world is a very pressing issue that even concerns her, but you've gotta cough up the currencies to pay for all the stuff in her shop. Her justification for needing KP to buy the Code Casts to debuff Beast III-R is that it was really, really hard to sneak both KP and Code Casts under Kiara's nose and you should be grateful that you even have something to buy the Code Casts. And the Sakurament she had you farm to buy all those gate keys earlier were her way of siphoning off energy to create an anti-Beast III-R weapon under Kiara's nose.
  • Out-of-Character Moment:
    • Following BB/GO's defeat and the somewhat sad reasons for her actions, the player's BB turns and apologizes them for being uncharacteristically serious.
    • BB is mostly cheerful, rather polite and generous in CCC despite her actions and only showed her frustration when Robin Hood started to act unusual to her, then later on when your Servant removes the restrictions that prevented them from using their Noble Phantasm while her only moment of showing sadness was before she got deleted while stalling the Moon Cell from deleting the Protagonist and their Servant. Here in Grand Order during her dialogue with BB/GO after the battle is over, BB/GO starts to question on why she and BB are meant to lose to humans every time only for BB to explain what makes humans unique. In a change of personality, as soon as BB/GO mentions how her original self back in CCC redeemed herself by letting go of the one she loved, BB's expression suddenly becomes somber and saddened as she also remembers that last final moment before she was deleted. It's quite out of character this time as BB wasn't really to the point where she would display anything outside of happiness and confusion.
    • Her line upon her Final Ascension has her honestly surprised and confused as to why the protagonist would put so much effort into leveling her up, despite her giving nothing but trolling insults through nearly all their interactions.
    BB: Geez, you already knew that I wouldn't undergo any further changes... yet you still used this much material on me. It probably doesn't mean much coming from me, Master-san, but you're a bit too kindhearted for your own good. You're still here for me, even after I've done nothing but torment you...
  • Panty Shot: She doesn't know if the player got a glimpse in CCC but she's taking no chances in GO, taking advantage of dialogue boxes to prevent players from peeking at them in story cutscenes.
  • Playing with Syringes: Her new Noble Phantasm, C. C. C.: Cursed Cupid Cleanser, has her inject ascension materials into an enemy using a giant syringe.
  • Rapunzel Hair: It reaches to her knees.
  • Reality Warper: Not nearly as powerful as her home game, but BB still possesses the BB Channel as a Reality Marble and can rewrite the information of events in her favor in order to plunge the enemy into chaos. Naturally, you don't get to utilize this outside of her Noble Phantasm.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She occasionally drops her silly act when she's angered, which is indicated by her purple eyes turning red. The antagonistic BB/GO has solely red eyes.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: As your Servant, she'll relentlessly prod and deride the protagonist for their efforts, but still follows them into battle without question as any other Servant would.
  • Sempai/Kohai: Since her sparkling prince of the stars isn't here this go around, she'll have to settle for her Master as a second-rate substitute sempai.
  • Shadow Archetype: Of the EXTRA universe's Sakura Matou; by design, she is the part of the Sakura AI which contains her discarded emotions and memories of EXTRA's Player Character, Hakuno, which eventually mutated and became a rogue AI under the control of Kiara Sesshouin.
  • So Last Season: She swapped her "Cursed Cutting Crater" Noble Phantasm for "Cursed Cupid Cleanser", because she got bored of using the former and wanted to go with something cute instead.
  • Spam Attack: She is a good unit in an Arts team as her Arts NP gives everyone 20% NP gauge and she has two Arts cards allowing for Arts Brave Chains to easily refill her NP gauge with the help of a support Servant like Tamamo.
  • Stone Wall: Has one of the highest HP totals among SR Servants (currently only beaten by Siegfried, and she even out-bulks Mash) and her unique Class means that her only weaknesses are against Rulers and Berserkers, being defensively neutral to the other six standard Classes and resisting Avengers. She also gets a skill which removes a debuff on anyone (including her), heals them, and grants them immunity to the next debuff for a while. Her attack stat, meanwhile, is on the low end.
  • Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors: BB has an advantage against Avengers and a weakness against Rulers. She also is both strong and weak against Berserkers and deals extra damage against Beast III-R.
  • Theme Music Power-Up: A remixed version of "BB Channel" plays when she uses her Noble Phantasm.
  • Troll: In CCC she enjoyed screwing with the protagonist by randomly hosting the BB Channel and interrupting everything that was going on. In this game she messes with you even before the story begins and begins what is actually a rather gruesome story chapter. She also has a slot machine at the start of every battle that gives a random and usually detrimental effect before disappearing. Even in battle, her attack animations are extremely silly much of the time, pirouetting around her foes, holding her skirt down like Marilyn Monroe, and firing her ever-famous Sakura Beam.
  • Twin Switch: The BB AI sent from the Moon Cell to SE.RA.PH swapped places with the salvaged BB/GO AI so they could fulfill their plans.
  • Walking Spoiler: Reading even a little bit about her and her role in the story will spoil major plot points of EXTRA CCC.
  • Willfully Weak: She ranked-down her Ten Crowns skill from EX to D because she thinks having such invincible skill makes herself pathetic and that is not cute.
  • Why Can't I Hate You?: Her third bond level conversation has this as the topic.
    BB: For a human, you're awfully lacking in biases and prejudices, Master-san. Is something wrong with your head? You're welcome to get explosively emotional or act like an ant, if you like. I mean, I won't have any reason to hate you otherwise...
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's still terrified of Kiara should you have both at Chaldea.
    BB: Wait... why is Kiara-san here!? If the Moon Cell is a processor that rivals the solar system in scale, then that quasi-Beast is a pleasure land of equal proportions! Just get her out of here! Chase her off with a badmouthing fairy tale author or something!
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Inevitable due to being based on Sakura.

B.B. is back, and with a fresh summer vibe. She is a digital lifeform who integrated the data of the primordial goddesses of creation into her matrix; now she uses the power of the Hawaiian goddess Pele to transform Hawaii into a Singularity where it is holiday time, all the time, until the end of time. At least, that's what she claims.

  • Arc Villain: Most likely to the surprise of no one, she's the villain of the Summer 2018 event where she maintains a seven day loop with Nyarlathotep's power so that the player doesn't have to face the upcoming Lostbelts. And since this is a flashback, it's obvious she can't win. Her Bond Craft Essence does show what likely happens in a different timeline where she wins.
  • Beneath the Mask: In her first two ascensions, BB acts like she usually does, though with the added traits of summer Servants and Pele. Her true attitude comes to light in her third and fourth ascensions, where she acts more like an incomprehensible eldritch being with a low opinion of humans.
  • Call-Back: An interesting example. BB's plan for Luluhawa and ServaFes is basically what she originally tried to do to save Hakuno in the backstory to CCC: put them in a "Groundhog Day" Loop so that they wouldn't be killed or suffer needlessly, in the HGW in Hakuno's case and in the fight to reverse the Lostbelts in Guda's case. However, while doing that to Hakuno is what led to AI Sakura's degeneracy into BB in the first place due to the ethical conflict of the act, BB has no qualms doing this for two reasons: one, her usual sadistic streak has been cranked Up to Eleven by the influence of Pele and Nyarlathotep, and two, evidently she readily considers the Lostbelt situation so awful and painful that preserving a bit of humanity in a looping singularity and trying to drive Guda into gibbering, lustful madness (as seen in her bond CE) is the comparatively moral decision.
  • Critical Hit Class: She has the powerful Self Modification crit damage+absorption combo for three turns at EX, generates star every turn passively and her third skill generates even more stars every turn. Further, with her third skill, she could get a Buster Brave (BB!) chain every turn to make the most use of her crit skills. However, she's held back by lack of class advantage, meaning players may prefer to have her generating stars and lock down the cards of a more useful class.
  • Eldritch Abomination: She has the passives of the Foreigner class as a result of being empowered by Nyarlathotep. She is notably currently the only playable Servant who does not have the "Humanoid" trait.
  • Frozen in Time: Her Bond CE has the protagonist trapped in a still moment on 11:59 PM, December 31st as they fall to the insanity and horror of BB exposing them to what's out there as Nyarlathotep watches them both. The three stuck on the moon and the Earth devoid of life.
  • Identity Absorption: Has done this with the Hawaiian Goddess Pele to avoid any interference with her plans and absorbs Pele's Authorities over Hawaii as part of her plan to set up the loop.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Her Noble Phantasm, Cursed Cutting Crater, has these show up. However, B.B herself does not have this, but rather the burning, three-lobed eye of freaking Nyarlathotep. Yes, that Nyarlathotep.
  • Gyaru Girl: The theme of her summer version, complete with tanned skin. However she does have a costume that just removes the tan from her second and third Ascensions.
  • It Amused Me: Due to them sharing the same interests and personality, Nyalathotep gave BB its powers so it could watch what she'd do with them.
  • Leotard of Power: She goes back to wearing her leotard in her third and fourth ascensions. Unlike in her regular form, where it's covered up by her skirt, here it's made very clear that it's a leotard.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: Once she hits her third stage, she trades out her fire abilities that she absorbed from Pele for various darkness and tentacle attacks that Nyarlathotep gave her access to with his power.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: She has the ability to lock down the current card composition for three turns, negating the normal gameplay mechanic of shuffling every turn.
  • Mythology Gag: Her Noble Phantasm has a couple, as it has B.B. become gigantic and scoop out a piece of land with her enemies and crush them out of existence. This references the original draft of B.B's Noble Phantasm animation, which was cut due to being over-budget. It also has in the beginning mud falling from a dark hole in the sky, which references the end of Fate/Zero that has the remains of the destroyed Grail pouring cursed mud that caused the Fuyuki Fire. The shape it assumes briefly before transforming into giant BB is also reminiscent of the "shadow giants" Dark Sakura utilizes when trying to kill Rin during their big confrontation at the climax of F/SN's Heaven's Feel route.
  • No-Sell: She's immune to the burn debuff.
  • Not So Different: With Nyarlathotep. When BB used Chaldea's observation equipment and saw Nyarlathotep at the end of time, they discovered they both have a love for humanity creating impossible dreams and not faltering in trying to reach it, and then eventually crushing those people and their dreams. It is this common interest that made Nyarlathotep give BB some of Its space-time powers, so she could carry out Its methods while It sits back and watches.
  • Playing with Fire: Is able to use fire in different ways like using a flaming lariat, slammed dunking a basketball size fireball and snapping her finger to cause an explosion in her first and second stages. All these abilities were taken from Pelé, the volcanic goddess of Hawaii.
  • Purposefully Overpowered: Her second skill as a playable character, "Golden Piggy Grail". On its face, the skill seems completely absurd: maxed out, it provides 50% NP gauge, a 3000 HP heal, and an eighty percent boost to her Noble Phantasm damage (20% buster and 50% NP damage, which multiply together) for three turns. That may look like the greatest power creep since Jeanne Alter was introduced, but it actually reflects a lesson learned from Amakusa and a few others: classes on the Extra triangle need a significant built-in damage boost to effectively use AoE NPs. Moon Cancer only hits Avenger for bonus damage... and, due to lore and other considerations, Avengers only show up alone, or accompanied by non-Avenger enemies. Summer BB would normally just have a 300-500% AE NP to throw at such a target, and that has to compete with Berserkers or other Servants who might get situational bonuses, never mind BB's own event version, which is basically guaranteed to have a level 5 NP and is single-target. And outside of that Avenger niche? BB would just get outperformed by anyone with class advantage. Her steroid skill is "overpowered", then, to ensure that she's actually useful in day-to-day gameplay and can contribute to things like farming parties in a meaningful fashion (which Amakusa famously struggled with for ages) - the 180% damage bonus in most situations simply means she's going to be doing slightly less than what another Servant with a triangle bonus would be dealing.
  • Ready for Lovemaking: Her final ascension... plays with this a bit, especially compared to the couple of strait-laced examples that have come up in previous summer events. There's your adorable ultimate kouhai, kneeling in the water at sunset, shoes off, the waves gently lapping at her legs, her beautiful skin matching the color of the summer sky, water glistening off her swimsuit and oh-so-shapely thighs... and oh, by the way, there are spiked Nyarlathotep tentacles all about the foreground and background. Her blatantly malevolent grin makes it clear it's quite on purpose, too, and that she's rather intent on making you her plaything.
  • Reality Warper: Aside from turning the previously normal Hawaiian Islands into a Singularity before the protagonist's very eyes, she also threatens to turn Robin into a pig and changes his outfit to a swimsuit to prove she's not messing around.
  • Red Baron: The Faceless Moon.
  • Sadist:
    • Pele was a sadist and passed this on to BB, which made BB point out she already is one.
    • Both BB and Nyalathotep love humanity's tendency to struggle towards dreams and ideals that are impossible to achieve, and to then at some point destroy those people's dreams... and the people themselves.
  • She's Got Legs: In her Third Ascension, without her skirt and thigh-high boots, her long legs are shown off quite well.
  • Sinister Scythe: Pulls one out in her "Devil BB" third ascension+ outfit for some attacks.
  • Square Race, Round Class: By all rights, BB ought to be a Foreigner; she meets all the requirements, she is the "Foreigner" response detected by SHEBA, and she's the one XX is trying to stop. However, because of the nature of her origin from the Moon Cell, her Moon Cancer class keeps overriding the other classes she could/ought to be. There's some insinuation that she could "class change" if she wanted to (Self-Modification EX is a hell of a skill) but in this case, she's opting to remain in her unique class.
  • Stone Wall: BB has great HP and relatively average Attack, although the stat difference is not as significant as her 4-star version, but she has Self-Modification EX and her powerful second skill "Golden Piggy Cup" to let her deal great damage.
  • Time Master: She's gained immense control over time thanks to her contract with Nyarlathotep. She's set up a Singularity in Hawaii that creates a "Groundhog Day" Loop after seven days have passed, and her Faceless Moon skill, which freezes your Command Deck for three turns, is flavored as a time stop (if her exclamations are any indication).
  • Unreliable Expositor: She claims that MHXX is responsible for all of Chaldea's problems and that Pele teamed up with her to stop XX. In reality, BB's responsible for everything and forcibly took Pele's powers during the process.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: BB saw what the protagonist was going to go through with the Lostbelts and decided to use Nyarlathotep's powers to trap the world in a time-looped, permanent vacation so humanity can spend eternity alive and happy.
  • Yandere: Her Bond CE shows her endgame: Her and the protagonist together on the moon, observing the stars and the Lostbelt-destroyed Earth under Nyarlathotep's watchful eyes. The protagonist has gone mad from seeing Nyarlathotep, and can't remember anything except BB. It's 23:59 on December 31st, forever.
    BB: (final ascension) ...Yes, truly, just the two of us. After all, other than Master-san, mankind has been erased a long time ago.

Alter Ego

An Alter Ego is a personification of an exceptionally strong emotion, wish or personality trait. The original Alter Egos were created from B.B., who removed her own emotions and blended them with the Servant data of various goddesses to create new digital lifeforms. Alter Egos differ from typical "Alter" Servants in that they are not "another side" or "another possibility" of a Heroic Spirit, but more akin to a "fragment" which has broken away from the whole and gained sentience as its own unique and divergent being.

Alter Egos are strong against Foreigners, deal more damage to Cavalry classes (Rider, Caster, Assassin) and deal less damage to Knight classes (Saber, Archer and Lancer). They also get a specific bonus to damage against Beast III/R.

    Class-wide Tropes 
  • Artificial Human:
    • The Sakura Five aren't Heroic Spirits, but rather fusions of various Divine Spirits in the Moon Cell built around aspects of BB's personality, such as Meltryllis representing "Pleasure". They are thus much younger than they look, which shows in their general lack of experience and inability to interact with people properly.
    • Meanwhile, the two Mecha Eli-chans are quite literally Osakabe-hime's artificial Servants.
  • Composite Character: In-universe. Alter Egos are created by taking parts of the essence and power from various Divine Spirits (in the form of data in CCC's virtual reality) and welding them to a facet of the summoner's will and ego (BB, in the case of the CCC ones). As these abilities are often picked mostly for power, it's not uncommon for Alter Egos to have... unwieldy bodies as a result.
  • Fastball Special: Meltryllis and Passionlip are able to perform this, especially if the air between them gets cleared a bit and they can work together (which was harder for them to do during CCC). The attack is a Noble Phantasm all its own titled "Virgin Razor Palladion" (or Virgin Laser Palladion), which effectively makes Meltryllis act like the spear of Athena. This attack is so powerful it allows Meltryllis to break the speed of light and break through anything that isn't an absolute defense like Lord Camelot or Avalon. She not only uses it to try and bring down the SE.RA.PH Kiara at the end of the SE.RA.PH chapter, but "earlier" she used it to break out of the SE.RA.PH and, thanks to the unique relationship of SE.RA.PH's descent and temporality, travel back in time to make sure you didn't die at the end.
  • Floral Theme Naming: Sakura Five Alter Egos have this naming scheme - Meltryllis is named after the amaryllis (her name being a combination of Melt Virus + amaryllis) while Passionlip is, of course, named after the passion flower and the tulip - her sword-fingers even resemble the petals of one.
  • Glass Cannon: The general idea of the Class is this - they have no defensive bonuses besides the very rare Foreigner class, but they get to hit five different classes for bonus damage, those being the cavalry triangle (Rider/Caster/Assassin), Berserker and Foreigner. They aren't quite as all-encompassing in terms of being cannons as Berserkers or Avengers, however, since they also hit the knight triangle (Saber/Archer/Lancer) for half damage. Meltryllis tends to be more generally glassy, but Kiara and especially Passionlip can actually take a fair bit of damage... if their skills are up. If they aren't...
  • Improbable Weapon User: A core feature, at least of the CCC Alter Egos. Both of them have had normal body parts replaced with destructive implements influenced by their more dangerous goddess features. Passionlip's are her fists which are literally as big and heavy as the entire rest of her body (and thus rather awkward), while Meltryllis uses kickboxing... which might not seem odd, except that her lower legs are permanently fused to blade-stilts. Even some of the others get in on this, as Mecha-Eli naturally uses all kinds of absurd, kaiju-inspired weaponry and Okita Alter's sword is absurdly, impractically long.
  • Loophole Abuse: They normally shouldn't be able to be summoned as Servants, but BB uses her powers as the Moon Cancer to allow them to be summoned like other Servants. Mecha-Eli and Okita Alter are similarly the result of various shenanigans occurring in their respective story events.
  • Min-Maxing: Being a class without any inherent Class Skills and able to be made from practically anything, Alter Egos are very prone to this. The CCC Alter Egos have the powers of multiple Divine Spirits which are combined into rather overpowered abilities, but in exchange they have rather grotesque features on their bodies. The Mecha-Elis have A in Strength and Endurance, but at the cost of having E in the rest of their basic parameters. Finally, Okita Alter is overspecialized as an Action Bomb of the Counter Force, to the point that she wasn't given a complete Saint Graph, since it would just be a waste of energy and effort for something that was designed to explode.
  • Rapunzel Hair: Not... exactly a requirement to be the class, but as the CCC Alter Egos were based off of BB, they share her knee-length hair. Their hair tends to be a bit more "floaty" than BB's near-Hime Cut, however, and Meltryllis' in particular tends to naturally divide into something resembling Twin Tails. Then there's Kiara with her hair spread all around in her 3rd stage, and Okita Alter's untamed Hime Cut starting her 2nd stage.
  • Rare Random Drop: Alongside BB, the Alter Egos have looked at the other groups on this page and said "hold my beer". All Alter Egos are gold-rarity Servants and three of them are limited in availability to the CCC crossover event or very specific major milestone events (like New Year's or game anniversaries). Meltryllis and Kiara are 5* on top of this, and even if you get a 5* card roll in their gacha, you aren't guaranteed to get them. If you don't go in hard for them during the CCC event, friend lists are the only place you'll ever see them. Even Mecha Eli-chan is an event-exclusive to the 2017 Halloween event and it's only possible to get one version of the two. (Though the re-run allowed players to claim the other one) Okita is similarly tied to the third Gudaguda event.
  • Superpower Lottery:
    • Holy moly. As baseline, because of their hybrid construction all CCC Alter Egos get Magic Resistance, Independent Action, and Goddess Essence, giving them hefty debuff resistance, extra crit damage and a flat bonus to damage on top of their stats. Each one also gets another passive unique to them - Riding for Meltryllis and Presence Concealment for Passionlip - and then they get unique active skills, the best of which are unquantifiable and therefore EX-rank and are mechanically rather unique or have interesting interactions with the rest of their skills. Kiara herself has several passive skills inherited from her Beast version.
    • Eli and Okita, because of the somewhat different way they were created, lack the Goddess Essence and Eli doesn't even have Independent Action, but Eli instead gets Item Creation B and both instead get a whole pile of other unique abilities, up to and including Okita packing an Anti-World NP.
  • Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors: As noted above, they're unique in this regard - they hit an entire standard triangle (Rider-Caster-Assassin) for 150% damage, deal half to another (Saber-Lancer-Archer) and double damage to as well as receive half damage from Foreigners. This is about the closest players have gotten to date to having characters that work like the Demon Pillars. They and Moon Cancer are the only Classes able to deal bonus damage to Beast III-type enemies, which include Emiya Alter as the Lost Man and Beast III-R herself.

A mechanized idol armed with high-class weaponry to survive and triumph in the increasing bedlam of Halloween Events, created by Osakabe-hime's magic. The free Servant of Halloween 2017 with the choice of her Classic or Proto color schemes. The event was rerun in 2018 allowing players to claim the second Eli-chan unit if they so chose.

  • A-Cup Angst: Even as a mecha, Bathory is still as flat as a washboard. Her final attack during her rather lengthy Noble Phantasm animation is called Breast ZERO Erzsébet.
  • Affectionate Parody: Of the Super Robot genre and the propensity of an Alter Ego to be an Artificial Human.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Osakabe made Eli-chan Unit I as part of her scheme but she ended up taking her duty of taking care of Csejte Castle very seriously and turns on her creator because Osakabe didn't fit in with her directive.
  • Alternate Self: Like all Elisabeth variants, this is a reflection of her desire not to be the Countess of Blood. If Elisabeth was never caught up in her delusion of blood... no, if she had someone to protect her from the pressuring notion that, "a woman holds no worth without beauty," the history of Čachtice would surely have changed.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: Actually parodied. As seen in the artwork above, both Mecha Eli-chans pose in mirror parallel in their artwork. However, instead of looking odd in-game, it actually helps in distinguishing them. (For note: the regular Elizabeth, in all her other forms, has her right horn as the larger one. Unit 1 follows in this trend. Unit 2, by contrast, reverses this.)
  • Beneath the Mask: While Unit I usually talks in a "robotic" manner, her more "Elisabeth-like" personality occasionally slips out. At her final ascension, she unintentionally lets loose and speaks exactly how Elisabeth speaks, until she realizes it.
  • Cranium Chase: Like Chacha's falling skill animation, both Mecha Eli-chans have a special animation in which they are losing their heads and putting them back when casting a skill. Unit I even tells you that you didn't see anything.
  • Expy: On top of being a general parody, she's also a much more direct homage to Mecha-Godzilla.
  • Glass Cannon: They have a good skill set for both NP and crit damage, a gorilla (triple Buster) deck, high attack and good NP gain, but no defensive abilities apart from their first skill's defense bonus. Given how low her her HP is, she almost plays like a less squishy Berserker.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After finding out Osakabe's true motivations, Eli-chan Unit I agrees to join with the protagonist to stop her and remove the singularity.
  • Humongous Mecha: A gigantic Mecha Eli-chan Unit Mk. II appears on the event map, which towers over Csetje Castle, Ozymandias' pyramid and Himeji Castle stacked altogether.
  • Machine Monotone: How she talks in combat. Unit Mk. II is more robotic.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: One that's fired from her skirt (named "Skirt Flare" by Unit I). And that's just how her Noble Phantasm starts.
  • Mutually Exclusive Party Members: They were this to each other within the event, as players could only pick one to keep. The re-run allowed returning players to claim the second assuming they played during the original run.
  • Palette Swap: Besides color, her two versions are only differentiated in gameplay by how the grey one has a more "robotic" voice.
  • Robot Girl: They used Bathory as a template, but that's where the similarities stop.
  • This Is a Drill: Her Extra Attack has her convert her hands into drills. Unit I calls it the "Eli-Chan Drill", while Unit II calls it the "Spinning Crusher".
  • Three-Laws Compliant: Moriarty tries to hold her back by declaring these laws. She scoffs that even if she was programmed with them, Isaac Asimov wrote all the ways to circumvent the three laws anyways. Servants are not human, so it doesn't matter.

Her debut largely assumes that you've already played Fate/EXTRA CCC and the SE.RA.PH chapter, so beware unmarked spoilers for those two stories.

Kiara is a talented hacker and cult leader. A true Dark Messiah, she is a masochist and narcissist who twists the pursuit of happiness into an all-consuming insanity of carnal desire. In Fate/EXTRA CCC she is one of the principal agents behind the Far Side Incident upon the Moon Cell Automaton, where she attempted to seize the power of creation and impose her twisted perception of love upon the world. At the climax of the incident, she assimilated the data of the primordial goddesses of creation into herself and ascended to something close to a True Demon, but was defeated.

The version of Kiara who appears in Grand Order is from an alternative history and so is slightly more subdued and willing to follow a Master, though her personality is largely unchanged. Through certain circumstances, she has inherited the memories of her Fate/EXTRA CCC counterpart.

She debuted in SE.RA.PH as the event story's Big Bad and later became an obtainable Servant after leaving behind a portion of her data to be summoned as an Alter Ego.

  • The Anti-Christ: As close as she can be. Her Nega-Savior passive skill grants her the same offensive advantage against Rulers as an Avenger. As the name indicates, this would apply to the Saver class as well, but we haven't encountered any of those in FGO. Yet.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Her Noble Phantasm ignores both invincibility and defense buffs, making it one of the few Noble Phantasms to be completely unavoidable and unable to be mitigated.
  • Balance Buff: Her Strengthening Quest takes a turn off the cooldown of her Clairyovance (Beast) skill while simultaneously adding an Arts down effect to the enemy to make her Area of Effect NP hit even harder. However, it's a single target effect with relatively small values on an AOE NP and only lasts a single turn, meaning the effect is also only a modest improvement.
  • Brought Down to Badass: She still has several of her Beast III-R skills and abilities like Independent Manifestation and control over Demon Pillars, they've been severely limited due to her vow and different Class.
  • Call-Back: Several allusions are made to her relationship with Andersen in CCC and The Little Mermaid.
    • Several characters remark that Andersen should be used to ward her off.
    • Since the GO Kiara inherited the memories of her CCC self, she has contempt for her time as his Master. Though she actively denies the two have ever met.
    • Her Bond CE is the copy of The Little Mermaid she was given by one of the cult's followers. The profile notes that it was the item she cherished most during her childhood as she admired the fairy tales written by Andersen and clung to her dreams of being like them as she was dying from a disease.
    • The material books note that because Andersen had significant time without Kiara's presence in this game, he's become just different enough for Kiara to be knocked off-kilter by the lack of total abuse in his responses.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Her Goddess Metamorphosis skill grants her a wide plethora of benefits (Invincibility, increased critical damage, increased NP generation, increased debuff resistance, and increased healing received), but inflicts 3000 damage on herself. Fortunately, she can heal off the damage with her NP.
  • The Corrupter: She wants her Master to become corrupted by her and fall prey to their desire, and serves as their own personal Mara to try to take them from the proper path to enlightenment.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She was raised in a Buddhist cult practicing rampant sex all around her, heavily neglected by her parents and to top it all off, dying from a curable disease. After she finally got treated and began work to help others, she was hunted down by several organizations who didn't understand why she was doing such work, hence her joining Seraphix to run away from her pursuers.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • She expresses the desire to become an Alter Ego at the end of the SE.RA.PH chapter.
    • In gameplay, when fighting her, her NP would show Earth's continents facing the wrong side implying there would be a playable version with the continents corrected.
  • Form-Fitting Wardrobe: It's probably reasonable to assume that no Japanese Buddhist nun ever wears an outfit as body-hugging and revealing as Kiara does in Stage 1.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Her NP's Overcharge heals her for up to 6000 HP.
  • Hand Seals: She performs this when using skills.
  • Implausible Deniability: She claims to have never met Andersen ever even while listing insults he's lobbed at her in CCC.
    "That man called Andersen? I do not know him. I know nothing about him. I have no recollection of ever being called something as abusive as melon mountain, cow woman or wench from the gutter. Therefore, do not make a mistake of calling us into the same room or putting us into the same party."
  • Lightning Bruiser: She has fairly high HP and good Attack, and her third skill and Noble Phantasm improve her survivability as well, not to mention being able to deal super effective damage to six classes at once.
  • Morality Chain: She wants to restrain her usual cosmic-scale nymphomania for as long as the contract lasts, but it's still very much there. In fact, she eagerly awaits the day her Master snaps and gives in to his/her desire voluntarily, as that would let her satisfy her lust without actually breaking her vow. However, like the Buddhist Mara, she also cheers on her Master as they resist her advances.
  • Mother of a Thousand Young: Her Noble Phantasm reveals the countless Demon Pillars she has spawned inside, after consuming Zepar with her lust.
  • Naughty Nuns: Not only are her outfits designed to invoke as much lust as possible, her Buddhist sect believes in sex as a way to attain enlightenment. Keep in mind, that is the exact opposite of what Buddhism is about note  (In fact, Saver was listed as her worst possible opponent, as he reached the real Nirvana and is thus immune to carnal desire and her supernatural charms).
  • No-Sell: Her Nega Saver ability allows her to completely shut down the class skills of the Ruler and Saver classes. This doesn't mean she automatically wins, however, just that she can ignore abilities like True Name Discernment and Counter Hero.
  • Promoted to Playable: So far she's the only Beast to become playable after beating them. Her class is changed from her original one though.
  • Redemption Demotion: Just like Amakusa, Kiara is a nightmare to fight as an enemy (as seen in her Beast III-R incarnation), but not too great in your party otherwise. Although the Alter Ego Kiara can potentially can be more terrifying enemy than her Beast self (as her NP can pierce both defenses and invincibility, making it completely unstoppable, something that the Beast version lacked).
  • Reformed, but Rejected: If you choose to say offering the protagonist a Valentine's chocolate isn't like her, she's offended because the gesture was sincere and says 'Fine, you want me to act like myself? You do remember that 'myself' is a horrible rape monster, right?' with the scene basically giving you a bad ending where she goes all Beast III-R on you again. Of course, it doesn't actually affect anything beyond the scene itself.
  • She's Got Legs: Her nun habit has a large slit to show off her legs.
  • Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors: She is unique amongst the Alter Egos as her Nega-Savior passive skill grants her increased damage against Rulers, making her able to dish out super effective damage against six different Servant classes (the Rider triangle, Berserkers, Rulers and Foreigners).
  • Theme Music Power-Up: "Anima Ataraxia" from CCC plays when she uses her Noble Phantasm.
  • Vagina Dentata: The Grand Order version of Heaven's Hole has her open a giant hole shaped like one to suck the enemy inside her body.

An Alter Ego of Pleasure created by B.B. by amalgamating the Servant data of Artemis, Lotan and Saraswati. Her personality is one of perfectionism and merciless sadism, and her naturally high prowess has created a feeling of arrogance and disrespect towards her fellow Alter Egos and even B.B. herself.

She struggles to understand the emotions of other people and considers herself a monster; in turn, she believes she will never find someone capable of understanding her own complex feelings. Like all Alter Egos, one of her senses has been dulled: in the case of Meltryllis, it is her sense of touch, which reinforces her feeling of isolation from the world. Yet Meltryllis is still a being born from the wish of a young girl, and so she unconsciously longs for the idea of true love.

She's an antagonist in Fate/EXTRA CCC and debuted as a major ally in SE.RA.PH, being the protagonist's main Servant.

  • A-Cup Angst: She doesn't like looking like a little girl despite being the oldest of the Sakura Five and gets frustrated about it occasionally. Passionlip also mocks her lack of breasts and then begs you not to tell Meltryllis she said it.
  • Armed Legs: Her massive, weaponized prosthetic legs. Yes, she does not have "true" lower legs; those blades replace her legs below the knee entirely. Also, much like Passionlip's hands, merely touching them can be extremely dangerous for normal humans.
  • The Assimilator: She once again has Melt Virus, and the trope is pretty much how it works - she can infect you with it in order to steal your levels, stats and whatnot. In gameplay terms, she inflicts an NP down effect on the enemy (and her allies, since she doesn't discriminate when it comes to gathering power), and after a turn, gains NP damage herself.
  • Balance Buff: Her third skill was neither great nor terrible, but frequently annoyed players because A) the NP damage buff did not scale and B) it was easy to screw up the timing and miss out on being able to use it at all. She eventually received a Strengthening Quest to cause the damage to scale from 20-30% rather than being a flat 20% as well as making the effect go off instantly and last for two turns. Since her NP gain isn't quite good enough to let her NP twice in a row even under ideal circumstances without support, this effectively just means that you can use the skill and her NP either on the same turn if you want to use it by itself or the next if you want to use it as part of an NP chain and don't want to worry about the party demerit effect, which was how it originally worked.
  • The Berserker: Her Sadist skill increases her damage as she continues fighting, but also leaves her more vulnerable to enemy as she gets caught up in battle. This is reflected pretty bluntly by an attack increase accompanied by a defense decrease in gameplay. Her boss fight version has this as a passive skill that increases her damage as she continues, make her fight a rush to take her out before she slaughters your entire party with crits.
  • Blood Knight: Just like in CCC; she actually has trouble feeling things (both in terms of emotion and in terms of her senses) if she isn't fighting, and her excitement audibly increases when she gets to use her Extra attack or Noble Phantasm.
  • Bridal Carry: Is the recipient of one from the protagonist late in the SE.RA.PH chapter, when she's too wiped out to actually make it back into the church the team is using as a base. Cue Meltryllis turning into a tomato and having a tiny panic attack over the risk of the protagonist accidentally touching the combat part of her legs and suffering major injury as a result.
  • Call-Back: Still has an interest in EMIYA, which is why she's mad that the "senpai" she meets in the church is his Alter.
  • Combat Stilettos: More like combat stilts, but the essential idea applies.
  • Dance Battler: Her essential fighting style, which is why Sarasvati Meltout is a Quick attack and she has a QQABB deck. Her combat animations can only be described as "murder by way of slam-dancing", and this version of Sarasvati Meltout involves pirouetting hard enough to create a cyclone of water. Ballet dancing (especially Swan Lake, which is regularly used as a metaphor) is her recurring character motif.
  • Deuteragonist: She's your main ally in the SE.RA.PH chapter, and most of the story in that chapter revolves around her and her attempts to make sure that the Protagonist survives against Kiara.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: After Passionip is rescued, she's the first to notice that something is wrong with Meltryllis, presumably because she's the only one who knew her before this. After she admits her condition, she tells Passionlip about the previous attempt to defeat Kiara and how she bonded with the protagonist before they died the first time. When Passionlip tears up, Meltryllis bristles and says that if she pities her for what she considers her the greatest experience in her life then their friendship will be over. However, Passionlip does understand that Meltryllis cherished that week and envies her, wishing she could have such memories.
  • Handicapped Badass: She is very nearly a quadruple amputee in effect if not reality. She has no legs beneath the knee and her arms and hands both move very awkwardly and have almost no feeling in them. She finds it difficult to even shake hands. However, she's also an extremely dangerous fighter and despite her handicaps is very quick. Further, she can infect people with a virus that drains their abilities for herself.
  • Heroic R.R.O.D.: Her Saint Graph has been irreparably damaged by using her combination attack with Passionlip to move through time digitally to save the protagonist, causing her strength to deteriorate throughout the event. When everything is finally all wrapped up, she can't be saved, but BB does manage to record her data such that she can be summoned again in the future as a new her, though she won't have the current Meltryllis's memories.
  • Hidden Depths: She's extremely passionate about dolls, seeming to find a certain connection between them and herself. Plus, despite her arrogant attitude, she seems to want to do simple things like hold hands just as much as Passionlip, though she claims she can't even feel it. So, you know, you better hold on tight and make her feel it.
  • I Shall Taunt You: She has her infamous "Ahh, scary, scary~"note  line from CCC here as well; this time she can say it on skill use.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: At first she seems to be a subversion given that she's the only one of the Sakura Five with those striking blue eyes, yet is vicious and sadistic. However, she's actually scared of love in some senses, is said to be highly devoted in CCC and in the present where she's more mellow she turns out to want the same simple pleasures as her more obviously innocent sister, Passionlip.
  • Jerkass Façade: She pretends to hate and look down on humans, but she and the other Alteregos are actually afraid of them and wish they could be human themselves.
  • Little Big Sister: She likes to consider herself the big sister of the Sakura Five, but Passionlip privately admits that she can't take her seriously because of how small she is, then begs the protagonist not to tell her she said so.
  • Making a Splash: All of the deities she draws power from have ties to water, she had a lot of water-based imagery associated with her in CCC, and Sarasvati Meltout involves attacking her target with a torrent of water and her weaponized legs.
  • Narcissist: While she doesn't take her pride to a psychotic extent like in CCC, she is still very proud of her physical form and flaunts it. There's a small comment from the protagonist's point of view in her profile, noting that her in-profile height and weight are actually her with (legs) height and without weight, before concluding that it's obvious what her reasons are for rewriting it.
  • No Social Skills: She's so intent on paying attention to the protagonist that she fails to notice what the other people around her are thinking. It takes the entire event and BB telling her outright for her to realize that Tristan was worried about her.
  • Not Helping Your Case: She is fundamentally a kind of Frankenstein monster made up of an assortment of random goddesses and given a warped psyche focused solely on pleasure. She's developed beyond that somewhat such that she's not particularly hostile anymore, but refuses to defend herself when she's accused of anything or even deny charges laid at her. The reason she likes the protagonist is because they trust her despite this and still wants to help.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: She dons what is essentially a wedding dress in her Third Ascension.
  • Power Degeneration: The damage done to her Saint Graph from time travelling and the high cost of mana needed to prevent the protagonist from digitizing causes her to slowly lose power over the course of the story, which is shown in gameplay with her level steadily dropping from 90 to 70 between each story battle.
  • Really Gets Around: Possibly. She has a very high ranked Riding skill and when asked Nasu merely said 'figure it out for yourself why it's so high,' a comment that was eventually used with Medb, who confirms she's a Rider because she rides men. On the other hand, she hasn't existed for very long and we know she can't have slept with most of the people she's interacted with given that they're mostly either her sisters, BB, Hakuno and the protagonist.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: In a previous timeline, the protagonist died against Kiara. In order to change events to hopefully result in their survival, she traveled back in time and replaced her past self so that she could save him this time.
  • She's Got Legs: Just like in CCC, her outfit emphasizes her legs, and she walks on and attacks with what can basically be described as blade-stilts.
  • Spell My Name with an "S":
    • An example that applies to her NP; is it Sarasvati Meltout or Saraswati Meltout? It depends on how you want to romanize the name of the relevant goddess from Hindi. The katakana in Japanese lean a little toward "Saraswati", but there's still room either way.
    • For the longest time, the accepted spelling of her name was "Meltlilith" (and you'll probably still find some corners of this very wiki where she's called such), because her name was printed as such in anglo-romantic characters in certain portions of CCC and a lot of its promotional material in Japan. However, this was in fact a (sweeping) error - her name was always meant to be "Meltryllis" (since all the Sakura Five are named after flowers and Melt is named for the amaryllis), but "ryllis" and "lilith" are spelled exactly the same way in katakana (リリス) which led to an internal mistake during development that got out of hand. As of F/GO, her name has been confirmed to be Meltryllis and is always printed as such in international versions of the game and in Japanese materials that use anglo-roman lettering (though "Meltlilith" still has a lot of inertia in the fan zeitgeist thanks to the mistake not being corrected for half a decade).
  • Stripperific: She doesn't wear anything below her chest, as always. She at least at least wears a "proper" string undergarment (if made of metal) over her pelvis this time, rather than her infamous... pelvis clip from CCC itself.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: During the SE.RA.PH. event she is far more mellow than she was in CCC as well as extremely loyal, though she pretends to be an evil scary psycho and the other Servants do treat her as a monster at first. However, it becomes clear that she's just being a tsundere for the most part and is genuinely trying to help with no thought for herself, leading Tristan and Gawain to relax around her at least a little. The version you can summon is a bit different because she lacks the story support's memories and bond with the protagonist, but by bond five she seems to have developed in the same way as her original.
  • Tron Lines: In her final ascensions, the attacking implements of her legs gain a prominent blue glow.
  • Tsundere: She is somewhat less violent and crazy than in CCC. Her words can be vicious and she puts major distance between herself and her Master, but she backtracks often on what she said when she feels she's being too harsh and she does seem to be affectionate in some weird ways. It's also clear that her ally version is incredibly devoted to the protagonist and has a huge crush on them, though she has to keep it as secret as she can because it's based on how the protagonist accepted and helped her without a second thought in a previous time loop.
  • Undying Loyalty: Meltryllis in the SE.RA.PH. event is absolutely, completely loyal to the protagonist. She would die for them without a second thought, even though that's much more serious for her than a normal Servant. Throughout the event, though, she pretends it's just an alliance of convenience and that she's also super evil and an enemy of humanity, but the protagonist seems to understand her right from the beginning, which is why she's so loyal in the first place.
  • Younger Than They Look: She may be the second oldest of the Sakura Five, but she was basically created in her current form and has very little life experience. Even after her maturation before disappearing in CCC, she's still pretty oblivious sometimes as a result.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: After her first trip back in time digitally her Saint Graph was irreparably damaged. As a result her functions and strength start to break down throughout the event. There's no way to save her, but BB does manage to make a copy of her fundamental abilities and register her as though she were a proper hero, allowing her to be summoned. However, there will be no continuity of memory, meaning the Meltryllis from SE.RA.PH. can be considered truly dead by the end of the event.

An alternative version of Okita Souji, who has been transformed into a Counter Guardian. Her Saint Graph has been so extensively modified from her original being that she is classified as an Alter Ego instead of her usual Saber class. She represents a future possibility of Okita Souji: the person she may have become if she had not died at such a young age.

She was originally designed as a parody character named "Devil Saber" in Koha-Ace. Her backstory and identity were changed so she could fit into the Grand Order universe, and she made her debut as "Okita Alter" in the third GUDAGUDA event as your main ally.

  • Action Bomb: Her true nature as a Counter Guardian. She is summoned in the event as a one-time manifestation of the Counter Force, with a Saint Graph that would explode to annihilate the singularity if their forerunner, Ryouma Sakamoto, failed. This is why she has no memories or even experience of what or who she is at first - she was designed to be a bomb, so the Counter Force didn't bother summoning her with a complete Saint Graph.
  • Adorkable: Despite being a more serious version of Okita, sometimes she ends up forgetting the name of her own Noble Phantasm and comes up with something else that ends with 'Beam'. Also, if her skill lines are any indication, she can fall asleep in the midst of battle.
    Okita Alter: Umm... what was it? Hmmm.... I forgot! Finisher!/Eat this! MAJIN-SAN BEEEAAAAAAM!!!/SOMEWHAT AMAZING BEEEAAAAAM!!!
  • Alternate Self: Not just to Okita, but Devil Saber. Okita Alter is a parody character that appeared in the Fate/Koha-Ace continuity, known as Devil Saber, born from the fusion of Okita and Nobunaga, and was created to kill the Fate franchise as a whole. Devil Saber's backstory was later changed for a more serious incarnation; Okita instead briefly became her Alter form as a last ditch effort to stop Neo Fuhrer and his Caster. This was done so that she could become used in Fate Grand Order.
  • Badass Boast: Has one as one of her battle start quotes. In the event itself, she says it when she regains her memories and true nature as a Counter Guardian.
    Okita Alter: I am the one who cleaves demons, pierces gods, and manages the prayers of men. I am Majin Okita Souji.
  • BFS: This version carries with her an Oodachi longer than she is tall called Rengokunote . Notably it has an equally large sheath and the game pulls a cheat by never actually showing her pull it out; all of her animations either have it already out or in its sheath.
  • Blade Spam: In contrast to her regular counterpart's "three thrusts existing at the same point in space at the exact same time", Okita Alter's Noble Phantasm opens with a furious barrage of slashes that cover the entire screen before she fires off her Sword Beam.
  • But Now I Must Go: As with all Counter Guardians, she will fade away when her mission is finished. Unlike most Counter Guardians, Okita Alter is supposed to be detonated and annihilated from existence to end the singularity, but because of the protagonist's efforts and the encounter with the original Okita Souji, her Saint Graph grew in power and the Counter Force instead empowers her to finish off the singularity without detonating. She still fades away at the final chapter, but returns in the epilogue, albeit because of the fragility of her Saint Graph she won't become available for gameplay unless the player summons her through rolling, which gave her a more permanent Saint Graph.
  • Cleavage Window: In reverse. Her outfit's window reveals the underside of her boobs rather than the top.
  • Combat Stilettos: She wears absurdly tall heels in contrast to the original Okita's sandals.
  • The Comically Serious: Even when she does silly things like waking up from a brief sleep in the middle of battle and forgetting her own NP, she keeps her face stern and voice serious. It only enhances the comedic effect.
    Okita Alter: (seriously brooding) Hm... what was it... I forgot!
  • Contralto of Danger: Her voice is deeper and huskier than the normal Okita's, and lore-wise she's vastly more powerful than her vanilla self.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Meta version: When Devil Saber was retooled into Okita Alter for Fate/Koha-Ace, Keikenchi himself said her backstory was tweaked so she could be plausible enough to be summoned in this game if she ever needed to be. It seems to have paid off.
  • Cry Cute: During the final chapter of the event, when she is fading away before the protagonist because her role was finished.
  • Dark-Skinned Blond: Like fellow Counter Guardian EMIYA.
  • Deader Than Dead
    • Her Noble Phantasm, "Decisive Blade - Endless Three Stage", is capable of this, which is why it has Anti-World classification; according to her profile, "even things that do not exist and those that can not be forcibly removed from this world can be extinguished." This is a reference to the final battle of Fate/Koha-Ace where she faced Maxwell's Demon - basically an unkillable concept in the form of a Servant - and killed it anyway.
    • This is also supposed to be her final fate. In life, Okita was contracted into the Counter Force to gain a longer life; she became a Counter Guardian and has manifested across timelines to protect humanity to fulfill it. However, her contract is supposed to end in this event; she is summoned as an Action Bomb to end the singularity for this very reason because there will be no trace of her existence left if she does explode. Fortunately, the protagonist manages to avert this fate by strengthening her Saint Graph (with the help of the original Okita) and by giving their memories to Okita Alter to remain anchored into the world.
  • Dual Wielding: Her Max Ascension card art has her wielding both her incredibly long nodachi and the comparatively small katana that she uses as a Saber. She doesn't actually use the katana in gameplay, though.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: The second woman after Ushiwakamaru to have the trait, "Brynhildr's Beloved".
  • Evil Costume Switch: Her blue haori and white garb are gone in place of black and red, although she is not evil at all.
  • Glass Cannon: Stat-wise, Okita Alter boasts one of the highest effective attack stats in the game when class modifiers are taken into account, only lagging behind only a few Avengers and Berserkers. Her health is also comparatively lower among 5-Stars as a result. In addition, her dodge skill is tied to her 1-Turn Noble Phantasm damage buff rather than a 3-turn crit damage buff, forcing her Master to choose between saving it for her Noble Phantasm barrage or using it to dodge a deadly attack. On the bright side, it's a one time dodge rather than a one turn dodge, meaning it's even less likely to be wasted than similar combo skills, though it means it probably won't save her if she's low on health and the last one standing.
  • I Call It "Vera": Her sword is called Rengoku (Purgatory).
  • Identity Amnesia: When she appears in the event, she has no memories of being the original Okita Souji besides her name. It's because her Saint Graph is very deteriorated and fragile (represented in game with her being Level 1). This is much more significant than it seems at first.
  • Lethal Joke Character: What she essentially is, borrowing from her origin in a gag manga. For example, one of her skill activation animations has her dozing off in the middle of the fight before immediately standing upright and telling you that she wasn't sleeping. She can also forget her Noble Phantasm's name while in the process of using it, prompting her to call it "Majin-san Beam" or "Something Cool/Amazing Beam". However, the silliness does not make her skills or NP any less dangerous gameplay wise.
  • Living Weapon: Her sword, Purgatory, is sentient, and talks in her Bond CE.
  • Living on Borrowed Time: In more ways than the average Servant. During the event, Okita Alter's clash with the original Okita made bits of her past life return - it was shown that while Okita was born, her sister had prayed in a shrine for her to live. This established a contract between Okita and the Counter Force, allowing her to live longer and eventually become a Counter Guardian. However, her contract is supposed to end in this event, to become an Action Bomb to solve the singularity and annihilating herself out of existence. Although the protagonist's efforts allowed her to survive, her existence is very fragile and she doesn't have an idea how long she will stay in the world.
    Okita Alter: The life I borrowed from the World will end here. Surely, nothing will remain for me.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Her Oodachi's name means Purgatory, as in the circle of Hell where sinners are made to repent.
  • Nice Shoes: Okita Alter has black platform greaves but with the platform focused at the ball of the foot, rather than the heel or the entire sole. However, in her first appearance in Koha-Ace, she was at that point so powerful that she could fly, so it didn't matter.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Her parody self is an Alter Servant brought about by a Fusion Dance between Okita and Nobunaga. Then her more serious incarnation adds five more Servants with a Holy Grail into the mix. And then here she is supported by the Counter Force, making her also a Counter Guardian. Presumably, the fact she's so many things at once (and likely a parody of such characters in general) is why she's an Alter Ego.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: After an untold amount of time without interacting with anyone else, Okita Alter understandably doesn't have any problem with skin contact. Her idea of affection with the protagonist is to have them touch her, and she is quick to glomp them into a hug when she gets the chance to.
  • Not So Stoic: Although she is supposedly an emotionless killer, it's clear she is nowhere as stoic or serious as she appears to be. While several lifetimes of battle as a Counter Guardian had hardened her, the experience didn't make her bitter, and she is not averse to nor repulsed by human interaction. It is worthy of note that Okita Alter is positively affectionate and compassionate to her Master even without raising the Bond Levels; she is just hesitant to bond with the protagonist due to the fragile nature of her existence.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: Compared to the short-cut hair of her Saber self, Okita Alter's hair extends down to and almost past her feet, only avoiding dragging along the ground since her heels extend her height a few more inches.
  • Pun: She's a Sleepyhead who likes to remind herself to be awake because her name Okita is similar to the Japanese word 'to be awake', Okiru, when turned into past tense (Okitta).
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Resorts to a one-handed version of this trope during one of her Quick attack animations.
  • Rapunzel Hair: The only things keeping her hair from dragging on the ground during her 2nd Ascension are her absurdly tall Combat Stilettos.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: She wears nothing but black and red and gold in contrast to her original's blue haori and white garments. Subverted when it comes to her personality though, as she becomes surprisingly gentle and approachable.
  • Samurai Ponytail: By her third Ascension, she ties her newly-grown hair into one, to match her new samurai-like outfit.
  • Self-Deprecation: A meta version. In My Room, Okita states she dislikes the frustration of drawing blanks in a raffle store - which is basically a not-so-subtle jab at the gacha rates of the game.
  • She Is All Grown Up: The original Okita died in her early twenties. Okita Alter didn't and lived a longer life before becoming a Counter Guardian. Aside from her improved skills that the original never got to master, she also states by her own words that she is bustier and taller than her Saber variant; the only explanation she gives is that she's probably on her "growth period".
  • Sleepyhead: She winds up falling asleep a lot, even doing so while standing up for her idle animation, and one of her skill animations has her quickly snap to attention before going right back to sleep.
    Okita Alter: Zzz......Hah! I'm not sleeping, I'm not sleeping. Sleep... I fell asleep!
  • Stealth Pun: Okita's name is homophonous with a word that means "awake" in Japanese. So, logically, Okita Alter would mean "sleep" - explaining the origin of her Sleepyhead tendencies.
  • Sword Beam: A dark, powerful beam of Anti-World proportions. Which makes it ironic that Okita can finally have a Sword Beam, but at the cost of no longer being a Saber.
  • Synchronization: Much like Emiya Shirou and Archer in the Unlimited Blade Works route of Fate/stay night, Okita Alter's clash with the original Okita causes their existence to synchronize. However, since Okita Alter's Saint Graph is the weaker one, it is her who ends up catching up and gaining skills from her original self, culminating in a Take Up My Sword moment below.
  • Take Up My Sword: She's actually on the receiving end of this, taking the original Okita's haori to strengthen her Saint Graph and enter her 2nd Ascension during the event.
  • Teleport Spam: Okita Alter has the upgraded, A-ranked version of Okita's Reduced Earth, named Furthest Earth. Instead of being rapid bursts of super-speed, it's an outright dimensional leap, said to be on the level of the Senjutsu. And she takes full advantage of such an ability, teleporting at every opportunity for attacks and her Noble Phantasm, and doing so at a speed that makes Saber Okita look slow.
  • Theme Music Power-Up: She has a unique theme that plays whenever she uses her NP - the full version of which doubles as her event's Grand Battle theme.
  • Time Abyss: Unlike her other self who wished she could to fight to the very end, she is bound as a Counter Guardian to fight several lifetimes of battle through different timelines. According to her final Bond's Craft Essence, she has already lost count of the number of battles she's participated in.
  • Token Good Teammate: She's one of the few Alters who aren't classified as an evil version of their original counterpart.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Oden. She's eating it in a snack room if you ask her about what she likes and considers using the Holy Grail to wish for more oden during the summer months before destroying it.
  • Undying Loyalty: Declares this to her Master once she reaches Bond Level 5, no longer hesitating to pledge her loyalty even if her existence is fragile.
    Okita Alter: Even if this Saint Graph were to shatter, I would risk everything to protect Master and your world.
  • Warrior Heaven: According to her Bond CE, she enjoys endless battles.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Also unlike other Counter Guardians turned Servant in the game, she's not emotionally damaged, just "blankly innocent" after countless battles void of anything else. Thus, affection is a surprise for her, but a welcome one.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Her hair has turned completely white. As a Counter Guardian, she's supposed to be a remorseless weapon of destruction. Supposedly. She's actually still quite nice, more so than most Counter Guardians shown so far.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Even after surviving the event, her existence is a fragile one because she was originally summoned with a deteriorated Saint Graph heavily modified to detonate itself, although she gains a more permanent one upon being summoned by Chaldea's system.

An Alter Ego of Love and Hate created by B.B. by amalgamating the Servant data of Parvati, Brynhildr and Durga. Her oversized breasts and metallic nails leave quite the impression.

She has the personality of a young, innocent and introverted girl who is looking for true love. Unfortunately, like all Alter Egos one of her senses has been dulled: in the case of Passionlip, it is her "perception of self". Her mind cannot comprehend the monstrous claws that act as her arms, instead seeing herself as just an ordinary girl. Thus she cannot understand why others fear her, and has accidentally killed anyone she has gotten close enough to hold by crushing them with her strength. Her pure feelings of love are twisted by confusion into hatred and blame towards the world for not accepting her.

By the time she can be summoned by Chaldea, she has slowly begun to accept the true nature of her body and has started to act more cautiously so she does not damage her surroundings or hurt other people. The fact that her claws are so large, unwieldy and unfit for anything other than destruction depresses her, but she still seeks the love of someone who can unconditionally accept her, and wishes for the day she can acquire a normal body.

She's an antagonist in Fate/EXTRA CCC. During the SE.RA.PH event, she is an antagonist but later becomes an ally.

  • Adaptational Modesty: Is given a top that covers her chest while still showing off some cleavage. This is very modest compare to her single strap "top" that showed everything except her nipples.
  • Artificial Limbs: Her hands are giant claws representing the ten blades of Durga. They're extremely unwieldy and unfit for anything but destruction, which depresses her. She just wants to hold hands with her Master, but as a memorable Bad End in CCC demonstrated, merely touching Passionlip's hands could result in the Protagonist's arm exploding in a shower of gore.
  • Birds of a Feather: With Tamamo Cat. Both are discarded alter egos (of BB and Tamamo-no-Mae respectively), have similar friendly personalities, and share a love of cooking even though they both have big monster hands. It took all of one conversation for them to become best friends.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: When she speaks her mind to others she tends to be rather insulting even if she's meek about it. Then apparently she beats them up when they get mad and attack her.
  • Character Development: She's retained the development she got during CCC, meaning she recognizes her monstrous form for what it is, having shed the delusion she was under during CCC where she believed she was entirely physically normal. As a result she's much more cautious regarding her abilities, seems to be less inclined towards destruction and wishes to gain a normal body.
  • Cute and Psycho: Not nearly as much as she used to be, but shades of it persist. She's timid and generally very affectionate, but she also has a rather blase attitude towards destruction, surprisingly aggressive battle lines and actually threatens to trap the protagonist inside her Hammerspace chest if they keep staring at her chest, which embarrasses her, though at least they can be retrieved now if she does that.
  • Gag Boobs: In addition to her claws, she's also best known for her absurd bust size, 160cmnote . She, after having learned about how monstrous her body is, tries to draw attention away from them.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: She actually has Presence Concealment, a skill usually reserved for Assassins, and she has it at A+ rank, which is on par with Jack the Ripper. It allows her to remain undetected even in broad daylight despite her massive hands. That said, it doesn't always work well - her "Masochistic Constitution" skill makes her more obvious.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Her wish is to become a normal human because she knows that her body is freakish. She can't even hold hands with someone she loves and is very uncomfortable about her massive breasts.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: At least as close as F/GO usually comes to it outside of Emiya Alter's NP - the final swing of each of Passionlip's normal attacks is accompanied by a very visible blood splatter effect, driving home how destructive and painful attacks with her hands are.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her Noble Phantasm has been renamed from "Brynhild Romantia: Until Death Do Us Part" to "Brynhild Romantia: Even If Death Do Us Part" which not only conveniently gets around the issue of two different Servants sharing a Noble Phantasm with the same name, signifies the change in how Passionlip views romance post-CCC.
  • The Medic: The overcharge effect of her NP is a full party heal despite it involving her rocket punching and then crushing the enemy. It can reach as high as 4000, which is pretty impressive.
  • Mighty Glacier: Powerful as her hands are, they're not suited for fighting fast opponents that she can't focus on. It may also be the reason she has a BBBQA deck.
  • Minidress of Power: After her first ascension, she trades out her striped ruffle skirt for a sleeker double-sash skirt, which is much more obvious in her third ascension. And needless to say, that's a miniskirt attached to a lot of power.
  • Monstrous Humanoid: Her essential tragedy. She weighs a literal ton, her hands are as big as she is, are only really good for being weapons and for normal humans are fatal to even touch, and she possesses a Victoria's Secret Compartment that is more like Hammerspace than anything. All of this makes it nearly impossible for her to act like a normal human - her hands are simply too destructive to touch a fellow person (and are horrifying besides), and hugging her is extremely risky because you can fall into her black-hole like Breast Valley, though at least she knows how to get people back out of it now. Worse, perhaps, is that since her GO appearance is after CCC, she's finally become aware of this aspect of herself and she's not happy about it.
  • Never My Fault: Her interlude makes a point of noting how she pisses off everyone around her by subtly poking at their sore points and then denying any responsibility when they get angry. She insists that she's purely a victim.
  • Oblivious to Love: She completely fails to notice how awkward Tristan is around her and seems to overlook him almost entirely. Coupled with Meltryllis' inability to tell he was worried about her as well, BB says they need more emotional education.
  • One-Man Army: Meltryllis notes that if it wasn't for Passionlip's childishness holding her back, she would be the most dangerous out of the five Alter Egos due to her toolset and enormous power, and true to form once that gets removed in SE.RA.PH, she becomes a juggernaut, crushing the entire second set of 128 Servants summoned by BB.
  • Rocket Punch: One of her primary attacks with her massive claw-hands is to fire them in this style, and it's her typical leading Buster. Her Noble Phantasm involves repeated strikes of this sort followed by attempting to crush the foe in her grip.
  • She's Got Legs: Not as much as her sister, but her new outfit has them covered in what appears to be pantyhose, to better show them off. Her third outfit has her change to much more sheer, translucent white hose and put on some very foot-exposing heels.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Her third skill runs into a classic katakana issue (that long-time gamers may recognize from a certain Mega Man boss): in kana, it is spelled トラッシュ&クラッシュ - "Trash" is reasonably obvious, but the second word could be crash, clash or even crush. Crush is probably what Nasu was going for, but it's usually rendered as crash because it sounds better.
  • Stone Wall: Though her health is very low and she has no defensive bonuses, her skill set is designed to make her the party tank with debuff resistance, a taunt, multiple defense buffs and damage cut. She also gains NP quickly when struck and her NP has a party heal attached. Add onto the fact that the Alter Ego class is only weak to Berserkers, and Passionlip can potentially rival Mash in terms of tanking.
  • Stripperific: A seemingly intentional aversion on her part. Unlike in CCC, she knows how her body looks and is attempting to dress more modestly, including clothing that tries to deemphasize her breasts. Her final outfit more resembles a party/clubbing dress than anything, which is pretty modest as far as this game goes.
  • Tron Lines: She's gained these on her fingers (and the heels of her shoes) compared to her first appearance.
  • The Unintelligible: When she's first encountered in the SE.RA.PH chapter proper, she's unable to actually communicate due to the head restraint she's been fitted with. She ends up rather like Tiamat, wherein she can only say variations of "aaa". This even extends to her battle voiceover, where her normal playable VO is replaced by grunts and other sounds. Once she's freed from it, she's as intelligent as anyone.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: This is one of her core skills - she can actually store vast amounts of material (data in CCC) within the space between her breasts, far more than would be obvious to the naked eye. One of her purposes in CCC was as, basically, a trash compactor, as she'd crush things with her claws and then store the cubes in the infinite space of her cleavage. It's even a skill in her game mechanics - it grants her a flat defensive bonus for three hits over five turns, and allows her to nullify three debuffs over the same period. She also timidly threatens to stuff the protagonist in there if they keep staring at her breasts. Her profile in GO, however, mentions that if her Master happens to fall in, unlike in CCC they actually could be gotten out, none the worse for wear.
  • Wolverine Claws: Her hands are massive, destructive talons that can crush literally anything that fits inside them, or that she perceives as fitting inside them.
  • Younger Than They Look: Not only is she the youngest of the Sakura Five, but she was basically created as an adult. Even after becoming less of a monster, she's still pretty oblivious as a result.


Foreigner is a designation given to Heroic Spirits who draw their power from outside the sphere of human consciousness, often from unknowable Outer Gods of the sort described by H.P. Lovecraft and others. Unlike the other classes that appear on this page, this class made its debut in Grand Order and is the game's only original Extra Class.

Foreigners are uniquely strong against Berserkers, dealing double damage to them and taking half damage from them. They are weak against Alter Egos and other Foreigners.

    Class-wide Tropes 
  • Critical Hit Class: Foreigners have great star weights, and their Existence Outside the Domain passive grants them bonus critical stars every turn.
  • The Dreaded: The intro to ServaFes 2018 posits that Chaldea knows about Foreigners in theory even prior to Salem happening (certainly prior to the Lostbelts happening), and whenever discussed they're treated with the same gravity and threat as someone like the King of Magic or the other Beasts. The mere idea that one is loose in Hawai'i is enough to make Chaldea go to extreme measures to deploy a team there, even without the ability to Rayshift and with Chaldea under its post-Timeless Temple investigation.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: Since Foreigners are the result of a god of the Abyss attempting to possess a mortal, they usually wind up acquiring some of said god's mind-shattering superpowers and/or tentacles.
  • Rare Random Drop: One-upping even the Alter-Egos, all Foreigners are limited and, so far, have only had one rate up apiece.
  • Semi-Divine: They have Divinity not because they are gods or descended from gods, but because their powers are derived from contacting eldritch horrors from beyond the known universe.
  • Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors: Deal double damage to and take half damage from Berserker class servants, and deal half damage to (and take double damage from) Alter Egos.
  • Takes One to Kill One: They deal double damage to other Foreigners.
  • Touched by Vorlons: The qualifying condition for becoming a Foreigner is to come in contact with an Outer God or Great Old One and leave the encounter with their power and (at least some of) your sanity intact.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Averted. The main qualification to the class is defying the insanity part upon coming in contact with an otherworldly being which would try to possess them. Either they can maintain their integrity as they descend into madness or, instead of being consumed by madness, they consume the madness itself. Thematically, this is why they are strong against Berserkers.

A young girl who lived in Salem in 1692. It was she who, along with a friend, accused her family's slave and several others of attempting to harm her with witchcraft, setting off a massive chain of killings and bringing a third curse to a land already marked by the death of natives through plague and violence.

And yet, Abigail Williams is but a footnote in history; a girl far too inconsequential to the grander sweep of history to join the ranks of Heroic Spirits. And this Servant seems to command powers that no history records "Abigail Williams" as having. What force lies behind her creation as a Servant, and what grants her the strange, eldritch powers she commands?

The mysterious girl said to be the key to the mystery behind the various happenings in Salem, as well as your main companion and final enemy there (it's complicated). Because of the nature of this character in the story focusing on her, this entry is extremely heavy with unmarked spoilers for readability purposes. Proceed at your own risk.

Her playable version was introduced in the second week of the Salem chapter's release as a limited Servant and has the honor of being the first Foreigner-class Servant in the game and the franchise as a whole.

  • Adorable Abomination: She can summon Eldritch Abominations at will to do battle for her (usually in the form of Combat Tentacles that surround her) and has a keyhole in her head that has another eye inside it. She's also a little girl who still retains that innocent cuteness even when she goes for her full transformation.
  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: The thematic concept behind Abigail's initial ascension is that she doesn't understand and is very afraid of the powers she's manifesting, and everything is incomplete - the tentacles are more indistinct, she whacks people with Yugo instead of her keys, she doesn't understand why power is shooting out of her forehead, etc. She even cowers in fear during her Extra attack. Naturally, this shifts into a completely different animation and voice set for her other ascensions, once she has embraced her nature.
  • Age-Inappropriate Dress: Her profile states her to be 12, making her increasingly Stripperiffic outfit age-inappropriate.
  • Alien Geometries:
    • You can see these, briefly, when she finally breaks the defenses the various magic organizations are hastily erecting around the Salem singularity to contain her advent. Her Noble Phantasm and a couple of her attacks also feature effects of this sort.
    • These also end up applying to the tentacles used in various attacks and her "boss form", pretty much by accident - they're meant to be tentacles, but being persistent polygonal elements in a smartphone game designed to run on a wide variety of phones, they're very low-poly and the viewer can easily discern their individual polygons when they animate. Except this ends up helping the effect Lovecraft wanted to invoke, if anything, because they end up looking like tentacles, but they're... wrong. It ends up feeling more faithful to Lovecraft's desired tone than many other depictions (which many accuse of just ending up looking like octopi).
  • Anachronism Stew: A few elements of her, mostly her appearance, do end up tripping this and she's not exactly accurate to where she's supposedly from.
    • Her "normal" outfit has a number of anachronisms - most prominently, it features a profusion of tied bow ornaments. Bows of this sort were virtually unknown as a girl's fashion accessory in the late 17th century - when bows did appear, they were merely to tie sashes, rather than be free-standing or in hair. Her dress is also cut much higher up the leg than would have been acceptable in Salem for the time, even (or perhaps especially) for a child. Furthermore, her hat looks like a bowler - a hat type that wouldn't exist for another 150 years. It was also unusual for women to wear hats of this sort in general, unless they were riding - the scarves on the heads of various other Salem girls and women were far more common.
    • Her teddy bears are also an anachronism - specifically because they're teddy bears, and even identified as such. While soft toys weren't completely unknown in Abigail's time, bear toys of the form she owns and shares with Lavinia didn't come into being until the beginning of the 20th century.
    • She sings "Happy Birthday to You" if it's your birthday, seemingly as part of being American. While it's heart-meltingly adorable, it's also not necessarily a song she should really care about herself - "Happy Birthday" only came into existence around 1893 and only gained popularity in the 20th century.
    • Even her "witch" forms get in on this a bit... specifically with her new hat. While pointed hats existed for centuries prior to Abigail's birth, the wide-brimmed, floppy-crowned pointed "witch hat" only became a major visual element of witch attire in popular imagination beginning in the Victorian period of the 19th century.
  • Animation Bump:
    • She is pretty much tied with Caster Nero or Osakabe-hime for having the most visually-striking Noble Phantasm in the entire game. While it features slightly less pure animation than Nero's, it features screen effects that the game has never used before and some of the most detailed sprites in the game's history. And in general, it's just astoundingly well-composed and directed. Sadly, in her initial playable ascension, it's much more simple in order to avoid immediate spoilers.
    • Also, her first, "normal" appearance and her "witch" appearance in higher ascensions have a lot of different attacks, which means Abigail technically has the most varied animations out of any playable Servant. You won't be able to see them all in one fight short of taking a player Abbie into a fight with a boss Abbie, though.
  • Background Music Override: Her Noble Phantasm has its own Leitmotif that overrides other themes. Said leitmotif involves a lot of sickly-sounding strings.
  • The Blank: Not she herself, but Yugo and Migo transform into this for her third ascension and final boss form, having their teddy faces replaced with swirling portals to madness.
  • Breath Weapon: One of her "normal" form's attacks is this.
  • But Now I Must Go: Leaves with the real Carter to "find" Lavinia and the Sanson who traveled with you. Even if they're dead, she can go anywhere. She apparently succeeds in recovering Sanson, as he is returned to Chaldea, although without his memories of Salem (but he does remember Chaldea).
  • Christianity Is Catholic: Averted; her profile specifically mentions that she is a Puritan and the Salem chapter actually manages to get a fair number of the thematic details of the difference right.
  • Combat Tentacles: Her main method of attack... which involves summoning some Eldritch Abomination (implied to be Yog-Sothoth itself!) using her key to open a portal to another world.. Her "normal" form's tentacles are shining white.
  • Composite Character:
    • As "Abigail Williams" was not a potent enough personage to ascend to the Throne of Heroes, the Abbie in the Salem singularity possesses all of Williams' memories and is the "real" Abbie in ways that count, but she's also an artificially-constructed Servant purpose-manifested by Raum, and in the Salem narrative that Raum has built and loops, she also fills the roles of several other witchcraft accusers. She's also designed to be the vessel for an Outer God capable of inflicting pain and death on all humans the world over, simultaneously, which the original Williams had no connection to at all.
    • She's associated with Lavinia Whateley heavily in the narrative, and Lavinia more or less completes her ability to manifest the power of her Gate and the Outer God, putting Lavinia in a role not dissimilar to the one she held for her own children in The Dunwich Horror, particularly the Dunwich Horror itself (although in-universe, it's worth noting that Lavinia & Abbie only ever see each other as close friends and behave accordingly). In a similar vein, when doing various chants in the narrative and elsewhere, she addresses "father" (otou-sama), which can and is meant to be read as just her conflating the thing she's linked to with the God of the Bible, but is also certainly open to other interpretations and/or multiple meanings. Particularly when she switches to chichi, a more obviously paternal "father", during her Noble Phantasm chant...
    • And then, of course, she's outright called the Silver Key by a man who is Randolph Carter straight from Lovecraft's books in all but given name... at the time.note )
  • Cool Key: She uses keys to unlock portals and direct her tentacles. According to the real Randolph Carter, she herself is a "Silver Key" that can go anywhere in existence (and beyond).
  • Cute Little Fangs: Once she gets to her third Ascension, her teeth become a lot more pointed, which can be seen in their full glory in her Slasher Smile at her final Ascension. That said, even like that she still manages to make them look cute.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite the sinister tentacles and demeanor of her later ascensions, and her connection to an Outer God, she's good at heart and only fights the party because she's freaking out over Lavinia's death.
  • De-Power: Her Noble Phantasm removes all buffs before hitting the target, meaning she can tear apart the game's best survivalists, the likes of Heracles and Cú Alter, with ease.
  • Dissonant Serenity: In her "witch" form (second ascension onward, for the playable version) during combat, she generally sounds very calm and dreamy (a common attack bark for her is kurushime, or "suffer", in a very even, gentle tone) and when she's struck by an opposing Noble Phantasm, she generally sounds disinterested. She also giggles on taking damage.
  • Does Not Like Shoes: She forgoes shoes in her full "Outer God vessel" appearance, instead having unshod feet covered in... something. And with toes that look a little... off.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: When in her witch form, Abigail can outright say "pour your mana into me" when selecting her Noble Phantasm card.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Her "usual" outfit. Her witch outfits also capture the vibe to some extent.
  • Evil Albino: Her highest ascension form definitely has this vibe, especially as a boss, although neither Salem Abbie or the playable Abbie are ever truly "evil" - Salem Abbie is, by that point, just terrified, riddled with guilt and ready for it to all end and has been convinced by Raum that she should be "evil", while the playable Abbie is still plenty loyal to you (although if you keep her in this form for My Room comments and whatnot, she definitely says some disturbing things).
  • Extra Eyes: Inside the keyhole on her forehead.
  • Final Boss: Of the Salem chapter.
  • Foreshadowing: Caster Gilles has a comment for her in his material book profile, remarking that her aura is like the Abyss.
  • Frickin' Laser Beams: Her "witch" form's Extra attack is firing multiple laser beams from tentacles. She also shoots a beam out of the keyhole in her head for one of her Arts attacks in her "normal" form, and also does so for the aforementioned witch-form Extra attack.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: The historical Abigail Williams was just a girl who made some accusations of witchcraft, kicked off an infamous witch panic and then promptly vanished from history. But F/GO Abigail has a direct connection to a being similar to Yog-Sothoth, is a master of dimensional gate manipulation as a result, and during the singularity is being made into the outright vessel for this entity. It takes the combined effort of the Mages' Association, the Assembly of the 8th Sacrament, the Atlas Institute Alchemists, and the Church Knights working in concert to try and contain her and the god within her from assaulting the minds of every human at once... and they ultimately fail. It then takes the combined effort of the Queen of Sheba and the Great Witch Circe to hold her back just long enough for the rest of Team Chaldea to beat the Outer God within her into dormancy. And, much like a certain Sakura Matou, a bit of between-the-lines reading suggests that if Chaldea had failed, the Counter Force was ready to come down on her like a jackhammer. She was a Beast-level threat by the end, and as ever Chaldea obtained victory by the skin of their teeth.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: A similar case to Musashi in Shimosa. In the story, Abigail is too minor to be summoned as a Servant even by Chaldea's standards, with only her slow evolution into the host for an Outer God being enough to qualify her as summonable and the summons itself only possible because she leaves her pendant behind for the protagonist to use as a catalyst. Despite that, she isn't story-locked and can be summoned even before starting Salem.
  • Glacier Waif: She is a little girl who is very thin, yet she has A-rank Endurance and B-rank Strength.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The host to an Eldritch Abomination, who has a keyhole in her head with an extra eye inside it, and is able to call up other cosmic horrors to fight for her.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Her "normal" form smacks the target with her teddy bear.
  • Literal Metaphor: Prior to her official reveal, she is only referred to as the "Key Servant" of the Salem chapter, meaning she will be a major character in this chapter. Come the final part of Salem and her official release, with The Reveal of what she is, we find out the term is also meant to be taken literally.
  • Memento MacGuffin: The protagonist ends up keeping the pendant that belonged to Abbie's parents, which is revealed in her Bond CE to have been the original Silver Key that was given to her by Raum.
  • The Mirror Shows Your True Self: Her eyes shine like flashlights - or perhaps stars - in her reflection in the "space" floor beneath her during the climax of her Noble Phantasm.
  • My Rules Are Not Your Rules: As one might suspect and Circe confirms in the Salem epilogue, in truth "Abigail Williams" is a person and existence far too minor in inflection and importance to be recorded upon the Throne of Heroes; she's little more than a historical footnote (there's no clear written record of what even happened to her after 1692) and no one person involved in the Salem Witch Trials was that important in the grand sweep of human history and consciousness. The Abigail in the Salem singularity has all of Abigail Williams' memories and feels the guilt of her original actions in the historical trials, but she's an artificially constructed Servant vessel molded to be the host of an Outer God, and will disappear along with Salem upon its collapse... in theory. In actuality, because her connection to "Sut-Typhon" (Yog-Sothoth under a different name) has made her into the Silver Key, upon Raum's defeat she can freely depart Salem in The Gentleman's company and wander the cosmos, and the Chaldea summoning system will someday manage to produce another facsimile of this "Abigail", who exists beyond time and space in her own way.
  • Mysterious Waif: She's one of your main companions in the Salem Heresy chapter and her identity and class are one of its main mysteries, culminating in The Reveal that the entire sub-singularity was engineered to perfect her as the host for a being from another universe.
  • Mystical White Hair: In her third stage her hair turns white to go along with her now-unnaturally pale skin.
  • Nothing but Skin and Bones: In her initial appearance, you might notice her legs look rather thin and might chalk it up to a Noodle People art style. By her third and final ascension arts, though, the skimpiness of her final outfit makes it clear she's almost supernaturally, unsettlingly thin, and it contributes to the overall disturbing aura of her appearance.
  • Not Quite Dead: Her boss gimmick is that she ignores health bar depletion to zero and resets herself back to how she was at the beginning of the battle, represented by the spectral clocks around her vanishing with each reset. She needs to be beaten four times before she's finally defeated for real.
  • Odd Friendship: She notes that the Caster version of Gilles de Rais is really kind to her, a comment that could be interpreted two ways: That it's a ruse that Gilles is trying to use to murder her, or he is genuinely being kind to her due to their mutual eldritch connection.
  • Oddly Shaped Sword: She wields what are essentially Keyblades for some attacks in her witch form. However, she only attacks with them directly in her second and third-step Arts animations; usually she just turns them like keys to open gates for her other attacks.
  • Power Incontinence: The danger during the climax of Salem stems from the fact that she hasn't fully taken control of her new powers while going through a breakdown with Lavinia's death and Raum's taunting, resulting in her violently lashing out at everyone and the sub-singularity's rapid expansion before the protagonist gets her to calm down.
  • Power Limiter: The nature of her Noble Phantasm (and, Salem implies, her own hesitation) prevents Qliphoth Rhizome from being as powerful as it could be; the way Abigail uses it, it's simply Anti-Personnel, but it could be an Anti-World NP (so, y'know, on par with fuggin' Enuma Elish) if it was allowed to be the truly endless gate to the Outer Gods that it could be.
  • Powered by a Forsaken Child: Raum had Salem go through several accelerated time loops to make Abbie suffer and feel the pain of those who died in the trials to grow the Outer Being within her.
  • Puff of Logic: At the conclusion of the Salem singularity, she's in danger of being the victim of this, since she's not recorded in the Throne of Heroes and will vanish when the singularity does. Happily, her new abilities as the Silver Key, with some help from The Gentleman, allow her to depart the singularity on her own and continue existing, and even give Chaldea a means of summoning another facsimile of her as a Servant in her own right.
  • Pure Is Not Good: The reason why Raum chose her specifically to become the host of the outer being he tried to summon is partly due to her purity during the Salem Witch Trials. This "purity" still led to her accusing many innocent people of witchcraft, and she's actually tormented by the guilt of having done so.
  • Purple Eyes: When she awakens her latent power, her normally blue eyes shift to this color. When the Outer God descends and she transforms further, her eyes shift further toward a red tone, although her "keyhole eye" continues to glow eldritch purple.
  • Semi-Divine: She has Divinity, presumably due to her connection with the Outer Gods.
  • Slasher Smile: She starts wearing a low-key but very menacing one once the Outer God within her connects to her fully; her battle sprite during this section wears the same expression. She also sports an absolutely killer one in her final ascension art.
  • Spell My Name with an "S":
    • Her full name is pretty cut-and-dry, given that she's based on a real person. Her nickname, however, is a bit less clear - in Japanese it's only given as アビー. It could be either "Abby" or "Abbie", as both would be spelled that way in kana and both are common diminutives of Abigail.
    • Also, her Noble Phantasm has caused a fair bit of confusion, but most folks are reasonably sure it's "Qliphoth Rhizome", especially given the kanji companion title. This can hit a further snag as there are multiple accepted spellings for "Qliphoth" (קְלִיפּוֹת‎) depending on which Kabbalah tradition one is trying to reference.
    • Also, somewhere between this trope and No Pronunciation Guide is the beginning of her NP chant in witch form. While it seems to be meant as the mind-breaking other-speak of the Outer Gods (fhtagn etc.), such speech in the style of Lovecraft and others runs into a bigger problem because, unlike English, skipping vowels is impossible in Japanese. It's listed in the JP script, and Hitomi Owada ends up audibly pronouncing it as, "イグ・ナ。イグ・ナ、トゥフルトゥクンガ" ("igu-na; igu-na, tyuhurtyukunga"). The nearest fans have been able to approximate what it's intended to run like represented in English/Roman characters is "Ygnailh, ygnaiih thflthkh'ngha" or something similar, but it's very hard to tell and Owada is audibly trying to pack in her vowels as fast as possible during the NP, to confusing and disturbing effect.
  • Stripperiffic: Her outfit in her higher ascensions, used as her boss form in the Salem chapter, is a "dress" consisting of ribbons of linked cloth cut-outs combined with lacy black low-leg panties. When she really goes full Eldritch God on you, there're barely any ribbons left.
  • Super-Strong Child: One of her stats is B-ranked Strength, which makes her physically stronger than many of the more muscled Servants.
  • The Swarm: One of her attack animations has her conjure a swarm of insects to attack.
  • Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors: She's strong against Berserkers, even defensively, and is weak to Alter Egos, making Foreigner the only class that Alter Ego resists. Foreigner is also, interestingly, weak against itself.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: A minor example. In her interlude (which takes place back at Chaldea, before the Lostbelts), Abigail returns briefly to speak with you as she foresees that where you go next would be somewhere even she wouldn't be able to reach.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She's really fond of pancakes.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Looking at her, you'd probably expect her to be a typically high-pitched, energetic little girl and during the Salem preview commercial and her first ascension as a playable Servant, she does sound a bit like that. When ascended or fought in Salem, however, her voice has actually lowered in timbre a good deal and is preternaturally calm. The general effect makes her sound rather older than one would expect.
  • Walking Spoiler: Perhaps even moreso than other Epic of Remnant Servants, trying to discuss anything in-depth about her with regular spoiler tags would result in an entry that looks like a redacted CIA document. It doesn't help that her playable version, unlike many EoR Servants, doesn't hide her name and ascending her will give you some of these spoilers, but not all, and what you do see will lack the context Salem provides.
  • Walking the Earth: She agrees to travel with the "Dimension-Traveling Gentleman" (strongly implied to be the real, actual Randolph Carter of Lovecraft's works, and as an Author Avatar quite possibly Lovecraft himself) through time and space in the hopes of seeing Lavinia again.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Her later ascension My Room lines mentions that she hates dogs, most likely a reference to how, in Lovecraft's works, dogs tend to really notice cosmic horrors and those related to them.

An extremely influential Ukiyo-e painter, who greatly influenced foreign painters and musicians. Known for his very quick painting, he left behind over 30,000 works in his lifetime, in a variety of forms, such as ukiyo-e prints, hand-painted pictures, manganote , and shunga (erotic art). In his later years, he lived together with his third daughter and assistant, Katsushika Ou'i. His masterpieces include the ”Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” series, ”Hokusai Manga”, the ghost painting “Hyaku Monogatari” and the erotic woodblock print "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife", among others.

She debuted in the 2018 New Year Campaign as a limited servant.

  • Alien Geometries: One of their skills is the ability to incorporate the impossible architecture of the sunken city of R'lyeh into their Art Attacks to weaken the targets' sanity.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Both father and daughter are implied to be bisexual. Ou'i likes Chaldea for having so many "beautiful" men and women that she can paint, while Hokusai (possessing Ou'i in her Outer Form) mentions he likes coquettish women, but also teasingly flirts with the protagonist regardless of gender when he and Ou'i reach their final Ascension.
  • Animation Bump: A little bit of a theme for Servants from the latter half of 2017 (and two-for-two in Foreigner, natch), but by the Waves of Kanagawa, Hokusai represents another serious attempt at pushing forward what to expect out of the game's visuals. And just like Abbie, on top of the impressive NP Hokusai/Ou'i have some alternate animations at high ascension.
  • Antiquated Linguistics: The dialogue of both Ou'i and Hokusai is absolutely littered with Edo-period terminology and phrasing.
  • Art Attacker: Her Extra animation has her paint a drawing of Mt. Fuji into reality, with her Noble Phantasm doing the same with the iconic The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Her second-step Buster attack animation also has her draw either a suzaku or a dragon in her pre-3rd ascension or a strange, mutated draconic creature or a sea monster-like serpent post-3rd ascension to attack.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Hokusai and Ou'i might be a Foreigner weaponizing the eldritch powers of alien gods, but they're not bad people at all. At worst, they're just loopy.
  • Black Speech: Ou'i starts uttering fragments of the chant of Cthulhu in battle once she reaches her third ascension.
  • Bokukko: Orekko, even, with the eccentric personality to match.
  • Boobs-and-Butt Pose: Her appearance in the Painting Summer Craft Essence image is this.
  • Brown Note: The reason they can attack with their art is that they imbue it with the madness Hokusai captured in his confrontation with an Outer God. Their third skill, Alias: Octopus From Another Planet, allows them to incorporate Alien Geometries to further weaken spectators.
  • Cleavage Window:
    • Her second Ascension has Ou'i's kimono open to expose her bust.
    • In addition to a Dangerously Short Skirt, her third Ascension's top resembles octopus tentacles and leaves the majority of her chest exposed.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Both Ou'i and Hokusai are quite eccentric and act pretty kooky in and out of battle.
  • Combat Tentacles: Played with. Third ascension's octopus dress has visible tentacles coming out of the sleeves, which they use to... paint with more brushes at once. When you're an Art Attacker it does count as combat use, but still.
  • Crazy Sane: Basically how Hokusai avoided becoming a thrall to the Outer Gods. One made contact with him thanks to the crack in reality that Abbie briefly opened in Salem, and it wanted to use him as a vessel... but he was so completely, utterly, obsessively dedicated to art that he couldn't accept the poor aesthetic taste of what the Outer God wanted to do to the world from an artistic viewpoint. Mechanically, this is even reflected in Hokusai not having an Insanity passive skill.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Essentially the reason they are here. Hokusai met an Abyssal God (that may or may not be Cthulhu himself), and almost fell under his thrall, only to call the Eldritch Abomination a lousy artist (as he puts it, an artist interprets the world through himself, the horror instead rewrites the world as its own) and vehemently refuse to join it. The experience opened a path to the Abyss through his soul, leaving him with some outworldly knowledge and power and kookier than he already was, but he managed to hold onto his own self.
  • The Dividual: The main body is actually Hokusai's daughter, Ou'i, who also painted under the "Hokusai" name and was Hokusai's greatest assistant; the little octopus is Old Man Hokusai himself. Their Saint Graph in the main "belongs" to Old Man Hokusai, but similarly to Anne & Mary or Orion & Artemis, their summoning is something of a package deal and you're always guaranteed to get both when summoning the "Hokusai" Heroic Spirit because their legend and Mystery extends to both of them courtesy of Ou'i painting under the name.
  • Does Not Like Shoes: Ou'i goes barefoot in the third ascension outfit.
  • Doesn't Trust Those Guys: Ou'i is not a fan of "barbarians" (i.e. Westerners) and quickly decides she suddenly has a shachihoko to attend to if Abigail is one of your other Servants. Though by the Summer 2018 event, they seem to be on friendly enough terms to work together.
  • Eccentric Artist: Bordering on Mad Artist upon their third Ascension.
  • Eldritch Location: It's heavily implied that The Great Wave off Kanagawa is actually a depiction of the sea above the sunken city of R'lyeh.
  • Fusion Dance: At the third Ascension, both Ou'i and Old Man Hokusai fuse together (octo-Hokusai actually "docks" with one of Ou'i's head ornaments), which gives her dress its octopus appearance, and gives him main control of the body.
  • Gender Flip: Subverted, in a similar way to Orion. Hokusai seems to have been flipped into a girl, but it's actually his daughter Ou'i. The real Katsushika Hokusai is the octopus while his daughter tags along because she produced work under his name and was his most important assistant in life.
  • Hair Decorations: Which mutate from flower-shaped decorations into more... oceanic-themed forms as she ascends.
  • I Have Many Names: Hokusai was rather infamous for the large number of pen names he used, with the total being somewhere in the thirties, something that was rather unusual even at the time. Ou'i even laments about her father changing his pen name again in one of her skill activation quotes.
  • It's Not Porn, It's Art: Defied, as Hokusai's profile freely cops to the fact that more than a few of his pieces are just straight-up porn. Ou'i even offers to draw the protagonist some in exchange for letting her crash at Chaldea.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Father and daughter are very much birds of a feather, even in real life. Eccentric and rude, but also laid-back and friendly. And that's before you get into their seemingly genetic skill in art (Hokusai admitted himself that his own daughter was better than him in some areas, specifically portraits).
  • Naughty Tentacles: They're a Foreigner because of a meeting with an Outer God and having an affinity with the insanity it produced. Said meeting also inspired Hokusai to draw "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife", which is about a woman raped by an octopus (and the first tentacle porn ever). It's heavily implied that the Outer God was Cthulhu itself.
  • The Pen Is Mightier: Her first two ascensions have her using a giant paintbrush as her main weapon, and all of her stages use smaller paintbrushes as projectiles, with her third ascension having her use smaller brushes for her melee attacks.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: Uses the old-fashioned term "Southern Barbarian" to refer to non-Japanese. Perhaps to point out "Foreigner" does not mean gaijin.
  • Purple Eyes: Like Abbie before her, her eyes change color from blue to purple as she ascends - specifically, since Hokusai is the one most plugged into the Outer Gods, once he's in the driver's seat the eyes go purple for the duration. This also occasionally happens in-story when Ou'i feels a particular surge of eldritch power.
  • Semi-Divine: Have Divinity due to their connection to the eldritch being that influenced them.
  • She's Got Legs: Her Stage 4 artwork shows them off.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: In the Servant Summer Festival, parent and child get the important role of... getting randomly killed off in the street on day 1 by the arriving XX. This small event turns out to be the main lynchpin of the "Groundhog Day" Loop, since it results in Medb taking over their booth and getting an unfair advantage on everyone else, meaning that Jeanne Alter's circle can't ever beat her. When they get saved on the final week, BB's scheme starts unraveling rather quickly.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Hokusai's not a problem, but "Ou'i" (応為, おうい) can be a bit of a chestnut due to the rules of Anglo-Romantic vowel combination. Her name is made up of three single vowel sounds in Japanese - ones that are usually rendered as "o", "u" and "i" in roman letters - but if you just print them like that you might think her name is pronounced like the French "oui" (yes), which it isn't - each sound is meant to be sounded quickly in sequence (and yes, even in Japanese it's a bit of a hard name to pronounce, which is why she often went by the nickname お栄, or O-ei). To try and represent the intent, her name is usually printed as either "Ou'i" or "Ōi", and it really depends on what the writer thinks reads better.
  • Ugly Cute: The octopus is openly called that by Suzuka.
  • The Worf Effect: She's unceremoniously offed by the new Foreigner during the "Servant Summer Festival!" to show off just how strong they are.

The legendary time-travelling (supposed) heroine from the Cosmo Guardian trilogy returns! She was once known as the Ultimate Anti-Saber Decisive Weapon and fought to free the Servant Universe from its ridiculously-high number of Saber Expies. However, over time the balance of the universe shifted away from Saber Expies, and original villains belonging to the Extra Classes became the new and popular trend. Mysterious Heroine X faced her most frightening challenge yet: unemployment.

But! This was nothing that a hasty retool could not fix. Now working for a secret intergalactic police force dedicated to protecting the universe from the evil Foreigner class, she's got a new look, new powers, and is not Altria in a robot suit. Mysterious Heroine X has been reborn as Mysterious Heroine XX, the Ultimate Anti-Threat-To-Humanity! (At least it's a paycheck.)

  • Armor Is Useless: Sheds her Avalon armor as she ascends, and in her third ascension she just foregoes it altogether in favor of her crop-top jacket, swimsuit and trademark hat (which she was wearing under the armor the whole time).
  • Big Eater: What would you expect from... well, obviously this isn't Altria, to be sure. It's a bit more complicated for XX, though, since she's now having to earn the food required to fill the endless black hole that is her stomach. The Master wins her over by helping her get consistent access to food as much as anything. (And what's her Bond CE? Well, her memories of her Earth vacation! Which, of course, has a big plate of Hawai'ian curry as the centerpiece... and a lobster, a pineapple, and some Hawai'ian BBQ sauce in the background).
    XX: Even though I’m not a Servant from this planet, I will do everything I can to support you. I mean, you are my wallet, after all, Master!
  • Butt-Monkey: She experiences looping time like the rest of the main team during the Summer 2018 event, but unlike the protagonist (who can always secure the same suite in the hotel every loop), she has to subsist on the initial set rations provided by her superiors and whatever lunch she can earn with part-time side work during the day. By the time of the final showdown with her, she's been reduced to camping in the mountains and is on the very last of her instant ramen.
  • Critical Hit Class: Zigzagged. Her second skill gives her a generous 20 stars at max level at a very short 4 turn cooldown, but it also kills her critical star absorption by a scary 100%, reducing Foreigner's high star weight all the way to zero. But just like Mysterious Heroine X (Alter), the reduced star weight can be fairly useful in enabling her other allies to absorb the stars and dish out critical hits, turning it into a sort of supportive crit enabling skill.
  • Dramatic Unmask: For most of the event, no one has any clue who - or what - she's supposed to be. When her armor malfunctions and finally reveals her true identity, that's where the cast realize something is wrong, as Heroine X is weird but ultimately well-meaning, and not the dangerous Foreigner supposed to be threatening Hawaii. Her mention of having to hunt "the Third Foreigner Response detected on Earth" also catches Jeanne Alter's full attention.
  • Dual Wielding: She can split her lance into smaller lances to attack opponents twice as much.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: The third (fourth if both Ushiwakamarus are considered separate) female character to have the Brynhild's Beloved trait. Interestingly, MHX and MHXA don't share this trait.
  • Expressive Mask: It's not obvious in her early appearances, but the eyes on her helmet visor actually reflect her emotional state... which, as she manages to get herself into goofier and goofier situations, include wide eyes of shock and even a ">.<" pained expression.
  • Fanservice Pack: She's a fair bit chestier than original MHX, which makes sense both for her being older and the meta-joke of her being the Lancer Altria to MHX's Saber. Her final ascension art puts a particular emphasis on it. It's downplayed compared to Lancer Altria, possibly because she's only recently switched weapons from definitely-not-Excalibur to Rhongomyniad whereas Lancer Altria had already been wielding Rhongomyniad for years before you summon her.
  • For Massive Damage: If she's fighting another Foreigner, because they all currently have the "Threat to Humanity" trait, she can actually reach one of the highest self-buffed damage bonuses in the game against them - when both Mecha-Suit and Justice At World's End/Furthest Reach of Justice are active, she deals a staggering 300% of standard damage against them, and that's before external buffs. And that's if she doesn't NP and buff her attack even more.
  • Human Aliens: Unlike the previous two Foreigners which were historical figures attached to entities inspired by Lovecraftian horror, XX is a "Foreigner" simply because she's literally an alien. (Unsurprisingly, her "Transcendental Existence" skill is an almighty D as a result.)
  • Hunter Of Their Own Kind: Her job is to destroy other Foreigners. Not only does she receive bonus damage through her class, but her third skill boosts damage against servants with the Threat to Humanity trait, currently universal and exclusive to Foreigners (which includes herself). Oddly enough, her Noble Phantasm still deals bonus damage to Sabers. It seems some things never change.
  • Idiot Hair: Could it really be Altri - excuse us, HEROINE XX without it? XX's is particularly impressive, as while the full helmet does keep it under control, in her other outfits it not only manages to poke through her hat (just like her Assassin form), but in her partial-armor form, it manages to poke through her metallic visor. Truly, Altrium is a wonder material.
  • Office Lady:
    • Invoked by name in the later parts of XX's event story. She literally describes herself as a "Intergalactic Police OL", and has been assigned the duty of hunting down the Third Foreigner Response on Earth simply because she's low on the ladder and, well, expendable. She also has the image generally of a put-upon office worker who has to camp and subsist on her own rations and work while everyone else gets to go on a full vacation. You recruit her in the event by offering to have Chaldea hire her on directly, where she can get away from being an OL.
    • This is also just part of the joke about XX in general; as she's more inspired by Lancer Altria than Saber Altria, instead of MHX's wild teenager attitude, she's a bit older and has had to deal with "the harsh realities of the world" like getting a job she doesn't really like that much and having to deal with all the related bureaucracy.
  • Older and Wiser: The general gimmick of her character. She's actually the MHX you met back in Saber Wars, but some years older and forced to set aside her dreams of Saber destruction in order to make her way in the world. This has also made her somewhat more civil and easier to talk to. She's essentially the Lancer Altria to MHX's Saber Altria, and of course, she wields Rhongomyniad and starts out heavily armored and loses armor as she goes. If you have original MHX, she'll even comment on "what a handful [she] used to be".
  • Powered Armor: She pilots a very bulky mecha-suit when she initially appears. Medb's photographers (who go ga-ga for XX) explicitly compare her to a toku hero.
  • Punch-Clock Hero: Taken to its literal extent where she'll break off and retreat mid-fight simply because her work shift has ended. She's also wholly indiscriminate in her slaughter of Foreigners, with her first targets being the innocent bystanders Hokusai and Ou'i.
  • Red Herring: She's not the Foreigner-esque presence that Chaldea detected in Hawaii. That would instead be BB, whose contract with Nyarlathotep is hidden by her unique Moon Cancer class, and XX is a more benign Foreigner also trying to stop BB.
  • Robo Speak: Uses it as an affectation when she first appears in the ServaFes event in order to conceal her identity and make her opponents think she's outright a robot. During particularly stressful moments, however (like realizing that actually killing normal humans or human gods would be a breach of intergalactic law that'd get her 100 years in prison), she forgets to do it out of exasperation. As the weeks wear on, she ultimately stops doing it entirely, both because Jeanne Alter's circle learns who she is and also as sheer frustration mounts.
  • Robot Girl: Not one, but, like the above trope states, likes to make it look like she is.
  • Scarf Of Asskicking: She wouldn't be a huge toku Shout-Out without one.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Naturally, her Bond 5 has a fair amount of this. It's a good bit more prominent than her teenage form's Bond 5, though, since while MHX was vague about it, XX has a pretty clear understanding of what "being near the Master makes my heart flutter" means and attempts a subject change that's about as subtle as a Twinmyniad to the face.
    • Of much greater interest, though, is her My Room reaction to X Alter, if you have her. She struggles to maintain her composure when she sees her "Ecchan", and has to fight back tears of joy. But she can't bring herself to actually reveal herself to X Alter, and asks the Master to keep her presence a secret.
  • Shout-Out: Her Noble Phantasm animation has her charge up an enormous twin-bladed energy weapon that is made to look extremely similar to the iconic illustration of Ado Edem's Slash Emperor from Angel Notes, one of Nasu's earliest pieces of fiction.
  • Theme Music Power-Up: Bizarrely despite her previous claims of not being Altria, "Sword of Promised Victory" plays when she uses her Noble Phantasm. (This is extra goofy because her weapon is clearly Rhongomyniad... that is, Altria's spear.)
