• Here lies 108 — Its death was very mystical.^note Was meant to be references to the number's significance in various Eastern religions, particularly Buddhism, but was used to denote any time the number appeared.
• Here lies 1-Up Sampo — A lack of Infinite 1-Ups led to a quick Game Over.^note Unclear name, since not everyone will get the mythological reference.
• Here lies 20% Cooler — Wasn't awesome enough to prevent its hopes from being Rainbow Dashed.^note "Cooler" could be used to refer to temperature, something that could be measured, while the trope refers to things that can't be measured.
• Here lies Abandoned by the Cavalry — Changed its mind about living.^note The old name suggested the opposite of what the trope meant.
• Here lies Abandoned Warehouse District — It was conveniently empty when we held its funeral.^note Trope was broader than warehouses, groups of buildings, or groups of warehouses.
• Here lies Abandon Ship — Threw itself overboard with its one true love.^note Was mistaken for abandoning maritime ships instead of abandoning a pairing because new canon information invalidated it. The old name was then retooled to cover the mistaken meaning.

• Here lies Absolute Cleavage — Was cut open from neck to navel.^note "Absolute" was too ambiguous, leading to the trope being used for any visible cleavage.

• Aesop Ju-Jitsu ga koko ni nemuru — It ignored our lesson about bad trope names, and got badly beaten in a ju-jitsu tournament.^note Unclear name. Renamed in the same thread that cut "We Haven't Learned Anything Yet" since the tropes were confused with one another.
• Here lies AFGNCAAP — Its funeral was pretty featureless.^note The acronym ("Ageless-Faceless-Gender-Neutral-Culturally-Ambiguous-Adventure-Person") was hard to remember.
• Here lies Air in a G-String — Strangled to death with her own violin strings.^note The old name didn't convey the trope's meaning, so it was renamed to Elegant Classical Musician.

• Edó psémata The Alexander — He may have been competent as a Young Conqueror, but he wasn't that great of a person.^note Trope-Namer Syndrome, leading to an unclear name.
• Here lies The Alkazar — People still allude to his death to this very day.^note Was named after an example from Futurama, but was too obscure even among the show's viewers. In addition, the character's name was spelled wrong.
• Here lies All Adult Animation Is South Park — We expected Kenny to die, but this death was much more of a shock.^note The old name and definition invited complaining about vulgar adult animation, so it was reworked to describe the genre itself instead of an audience reaction to said genre.
• Here lie All-Devouring Black Hole Loan Sharks — Murdered by even more ruthless Loan Sharks.^note A reference to Pikmin 2 that was long, unwieldy, and difficult to remember.
• Here lies All My Circuits — Suffered irreparable damage after soap got caught in its circuits.^note The old name required familiarity with Futurama.

The trope was renamed, with the old name getting a lifetime membership at the Permanent Red Link Club.

• Here lie Ambiguously Autistic and its successor, Ambiguous Disorder — Fans have diagnosed their issues as Ax Craziness.^note Initially renamed to cover other symptoms, but it has attracted speculative troping and diagnoses. It has since been renamed, redefined, and made YMMV.
• Here lies Amelia Bedelia — Her literal mind got her into lethal trouble.^note Shared its name with a book series.
• Here lies America Wins the War — It got killed in action while fighting for America in World War II.^note Was renamed to clarify that the war in question is World War II.

• Anime In-Laws ga koko ni nemuru — They were awful, Love-Obstructing Parents.^note Renamed because the trope isn't Japan-exclusive, let alone anime-exclusive, and because it misused the term "in-law" to refer to the parents of unmarried couples.
• Here lies Anything's Awesome with Announcers — Ended up as ham for the audience.^note A member of the deprecated "Everything's Better with X" snowclone family that had a unique but confusing name, which didn't specify which kind of announcer.
• Here lies Appeal to Libido — Was buried in its flip-flops.^note The former title was too misleading.
• Here lies The Apple Falls Far — Plummetted off a bridge.^note Had nothing to do with apples and was mistaken for the idiom about Generation Xerox.
• Here lies Appropriate Conversation Interruption — It's astonishing that it survived as long as it did.^note Wasn't considered quite descriptive enough and was renamed for clarity.

• Here lies Artistic License - Basic Training — Died in the military.^note Was renamed from "You Fail Basic Training Forever", but the old name failed to specify what sort of training and the trope covered more than just basic training anyway.
• Here lie Audience Reaction Tropes — One day, the Audience Reactions found something to react to — they weren't tropes at all.^note Audience Reactions used to be labeled as tropes, but they have since been classified as a subset of Not a Trope. The reason for this is that tropes are conventions that are intentionally used in works, while Audience Reactions exist solely with works' audiences (In-Universe examples notwithstanding).
• Here lies Author Existence Failure — He died during the production of this sent- ^note Suffered misuse, especially examples from creators who died after their work was released. The trope was renamed to the more indicative Died During Production.
• Here lie Authority Equals Asskicking, Authority Grants Asskicking, and Asskicking Equals Authority — Had their asses kicked out of the leadership role.^note Names were too similar to each other, which led to misuse. Even renaming Authority Equals Asskicking to Authority Grants Asskicking didn't clear up misuse, so it was renamed again to Rank Scales with Asskicking while the old names were disambiguated.
• Hic iacet Ave Machina — It is now worshipped by its surviving followers.^note Renamed for clarity, since the former name wasn't readily apparent on the trope's subject.
• Here lies Awkward Ability — Its cover was blown.^note Was mistaken for the power itself being awkward rather than its cover-blowing properties.
• Here lies Badass Abnormal — Wasn't empowered enough to survive the nuclear disaster that destroyed its home.^note The old name made it sound like the trope was the opposite of what it was intended to convey.
• Here lies Badass Angster — He died of a broken heart.^note Old name didn't specify that the trope was about characters conflicted about their destiny and their loved ones after someone close to them died, so it was renamed to make it more clear it was a mix of past and future events affecting the character rather than just the former.
• Here lies Badass Damsel — Got herself out of distress and ran away to her new life.^note Was renamed to be more clearly linked to Damsel in Distress.
• Aquí yace Badass Spaniard — He wasn't that badass, but he was one dashing hombre.^note Renamed partially because it attracted the sort of problematic examples that Badass Tropes see, despite it not actually being a Badass trope, and partially because it can apply to someone from any Spanish-speaking country rather than just Spain.
• Here lies Bad Blue Lighting — Died an unnatural death.^note The old name sounded too negative.
• Here lie Bad Dreams — Their past came back to haunt them in their dreams.^note Was frequently used when someone simply has a bad dream, so it was renamed for clarity.
• Here lies Bad Writing Index — Wrote itself into a pitfall.^note Originally renamed from "Bad Writing" to stem complaining, only to continue attracting complaining alongside edit warring. The index got renamed to something less negative-sounding, along with being locked so the index could be curated.
• Here lies Baigar Is the Antidote — Its failure to cure the poison was improbable.^note Was an obscure reference to Case Closed and was renamed quicky after launch.
• Here lies Baleful Polymorph — Forced to assume the form of a corpse.^note Was intended for harmful shapeshifting caused by another. However, not many readers would understand the word "baleful" and applied it to cases that barely hinder the victim. The trope was broadened, and a rename was in order.
• Here lies The Barney — Lynched by a invoked Periphery Hatedom.^note Was named after Barney the Dinosaur, but was confused with other characters named Barney, whether or not they were hated by their respective works' Periphery Demographic. It was also an Audience Reaction instead of a character trope.
• Here lies Base Breaker — Its character was disputed.^note Used interchangeably with Broken Base, so it was renamed to make clear it specifically applied to characters.
• Here lies Battle Royale with Cheese — The climax was very cheesy.^note Meant to refer to climactic battle resurrections, hence the new name, but was often misused to refer to Narm-filled battles.
• Here lies The Baxter — Died from exhaustion running for the love of its life.^note Suffered from Trope-Namer Syndrome and shared its name with a film.
• Here lies Because I'm Jonesy — It had a bad confrontation with its poser.
• Here lies Bechdel's Rule — Got an F on The Bechdel Test.^note Mistaken as a "rule" for works, which led tropers to praise works that passed the test and bash those that didn't.

• Here lies Bee Afraid — Was stung to death by a Scary Stinging Swarm.^note It was confused for the current definition of Bee Afraid, which is any dangerous or antagonistic bees.
• Here lies Beetle Mania — The Beetle Maniac decided to get back to where they once belonged, which happens to be a grave.^note Renamed to make it more clear that it's a character trope.
• Here lies Belly Buttonless — Died at sea in a navel accident.^note The trope was expanded to cover any unusual birth that results in having no navel (rather than only covering clones), and at the same time it was renamed to be more specific.
• Here lies Belly Dancer — The weather was too sultry for her.^note Belly-dancing chairs, so it was renamed to clarify the Fanservice aspect of the character archetype. The original name was then disambiguated and moved to the UsefulNotes.Belly Dancing page.

• Here lies BFM — Scrapped in favor of a more epic movie.^note An incomprehensible snowclone of BFG.
• Here lie Bibles from the Dead — Someone tried to scam their mourners.^note The old name was unclear and rarely used.
• Here lies Big Damn Gunship — No one managed to rescue it.^note Misused to mean "large gunship".
• Here lie Big Damn Villains — Killed as part of the bad guys' dirty work.^note A bad snowclone of Big Damn Heroes that people confused for Villainous Rescue.
• Here lies Bigger Bad — It was eclipsed by the Greater-Scope Villain.^note Used overly broadly and in place of more fitting tropes (The Man Behind the Man, Predecessor Villain, Villainous Legacy). Renamed to better fit the intended definition of a threat more powerful/dangerous than the Big Bad that was also non-directly involved in driving the plot.
• Hic iacet Biggus Dickus — Beaten to his love interest by someone even bigger.^note Named for a joke in Monty Python's Life of Brian, which led people to mistake the trope for Real Joke Name.
• Here lies Big Name Fan — The fandom no longer considers them a very important person.^note Due to misuse for famous people who were fans, it was moved to YMMV and renamed to be more obviously about people famous within a fandom.
• Here lies Billy Elliot Plot — Crushed by his gender normative parents' desires against his will.^note The old name required familiarity with Billy Elliot to understand, so the trope was renamed for clarity.
• Here lies Biological Mash-Up — A lab accident left the two beings stuck in one body.^note Was frequently confused with Mix-and-Match Critters.
• Here lies Bird Run — A nasty encounter with an airplane ruffled its feathers.^note Renamed to more clearly indicate the pose the trope applies to.
• Here lies Black and White Beauty — Killed by ravens and elephants.^note The old name was too unclear.
• Here lies Black Best Friend — Turns out they were a token friend at best. ^note Attracted Zero-Context Examples and was misused to refer to any friend being black.
• Here lies Black Mesa Commute — Shot during a scenic tour.^note Suffered from Trope-Namer Syndrome and the reference was lost even to many familiar with Half-Life.
• Here lies Bleached Underpants — The laundry process was censored before release.^note Was misused for creators who previously did NSFW works unrelated to their SFW works, when it was supposed to refer to clean versions of otherwise pornographic works. Thus, the definition was reworked and a rename was in order.
• Here lie Blood Brothers — They swore to die together.^note Was renamed to clarify that it involves two unrelated characters making an oath to forge a brotherly bond with each other.
• Blue Bishōnen Ghetto ga koko ni nemuru — Was replaced by a Cast Full of Pretty Boys.^note A poor snowclone of Pink Bishōujo Ghetto, itself renamed to Improbably Female Cast, which implied that it was a direct Spear Counterpart to that trope.
• Here lies Bonnie and Clyde — Shot dead in a standoff with a fellow Outlaw Couple.^note Shared its name with a film and frequently got misused to refer to the actual couple regardless of context.
• Here lies Bonus Level of Hell — It was too bad to go to heaven but too good to go to hell, so it got sent to Planet Heck.^note The title implied that it was exclusive to bonus levels, which wasn't true, and it was confused for That One Level.
• Here lie Boobytrap Car and its successor, Car Bomb — Spontaneous external combustion.^note Was launched under the wrong name (the former) and didn't specify that the trope was for car bombs actually going off, not just threats of ones (from the latter).
• Here lies The Boo Radley — He was just misunderstood.^note Trope-Namer Syndrome, and a massive spoiler to those who hadn't finished the associated work.
• Here lie Boring Invincible Hero and Boring Invincible Villain — Both the Invincible Hero and the Invincible Villain learned how to be entertaining.^note Renamed because the word "boring" in the old names provoked complaining. They initially stuck around as redirects before they were cut, as with the You Fail X Forever redirects for Artistic License's subtropes.
• Here lie Bosom Buddies — Dragged out of their disguises.^note Collided with the series of the same name.
• Here lies Bottle Fairy — She received an intervention.^note Easily confused with Genie in a Bottle, the anime titled Bottle Fairy, or the bottled fairies from The Legend of Zelda. When that wasn't happening, it was misused as "a woman who drinks alcohol."
• Here lies Bowel Existence Failure — Is now a dead body because it foolishly removed its own intestines.^note Was a bad snowclone of the now-renamed Author Existence Failure.
• Here lie Brainy Specs — Was exposed as a fraud since the glasses were just for show.^note Was supposed to be about characters wearing glasses to look smart even if they don't need them, but were misused for characters who are smart and wear them. The latter concept was made into Smart People Wear Glasses.
• Here lies Breaking-Point Swearing — Tried to Kill and Replace the Precision F-Strike, only to be killed itself.^note A short-lived rename of Precision F-Strike that was instituted to curb its tendency to attract misuse. However, the rename backfired as it opened up a whole new can of worms regarding misuse and Trope Decay. In the end, it was decided to go back to the original name, and Breaking-Point Swearing was cut entirely.
• Here lies Breathe on the Fan — The Funny Fan Voice it made wasn't funny enough.^note Breathy chairs, was renamed into a humor trope where characters distort their voices by talking into a fan.
• Here lies Bring My Brown Pants — Buried in its red jacket.^note It was confused for the current definition of Bring My Brown Pants, which is characters wetting or soiling themselves from fear, so it got renamed to the more relevant part of the joke.

• Here lies Bucket of Ears — Buried deeper underground for hearing too much.^note Was an obscure reference to Coupling that led to examples being misused for references to the former Trope Namer.
• Here lies Bugs Bunny — Met with some tricky karma during rabbit season. ^note Trope-Namer Syndrome; attracted more wicks for the character (who has his own page) than the actual trope.

• Here lies But You Screw One Goat — Its bestiality was depraved enough for it to receive the death penalty.^note Misleading name — the trope-naming phrase refers to Never Live It Down more so than Bestiality Is Depraved.
• Here lies Buxom is Better — We had to find a new beauty standard after it was smothered to death.^note Was misused for buxom women existing rather than buxom women being considered more attractive in-universe.

The concept of stereotypically polite Canadians was split off into a TLP draft and eventually launched as Courteous Canadian, while Crass Canuck was made to cover stereotypically rude ones.
• Here lies Capulet Counterpart — Shot dead for defecting.^note Not everyone understood the reference, since Romeo and Juliet is associated with many other tropes.
• Here lies Cardinal Wolsey — Due to time constraints, his funeral was only shown in one scene.^note Non-indicative name due to Trope-Namer Syndrome.
• Here lies The Casey Effect — Was Down to the Last Play, but didn't make the winning score.^note Was named after Casey at the Bat, but it didn't have always to do with baseball while the character doesn't always lose in the last play.
