Rex
- Voiced by: Jim Fowler (English, 2007 series), Alexander Toi (English, 2019 series), Nicolas Charbonneaux-Collombet (French), Muli Shulman (Hebrew), Carlos Vitale (Spanish)
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: He gets distracted from a mission upon seeing food.
- Big Eater: Fitting for a dinosaur, he's almost always hungry.
- Emerald Power: He's green and has powers (albeit not mystical powers).
- Extreme Omnivore: Has no qualms with eating hamster snacks.
- Flanderization: His Big Eater tendencies are exaggerated in the reboot.
- Furry Reminder: In episode 8 of the reboot, Rex sees Komodo as chicken and crouches towards him. He also has the tendency to roar in the reboot, thus telling us he's a dino.
- The Leader: He's arguably the leader of the team.
- Madness Mantra: When distracted by food, he sometimes repeats its name constantly, so much so that it falls on this category. It's more Played for Laughs though.
- Not So Above It All: Despite being one of the most mature Animal Mechanicals, his hunger can get the best of him and make him act silly.
- Obsessed with Food: So much so that he will act like a toddler upon seeing food in an island.
- Psychopathic Manchild: He sometimes reverts into this upon seeing food. Just like in Madness Mantra, his reversion is always Played for Laughs.
- Super-Strength: His power.
- Third-Person Person: Rex gains this along with a very derpy face when distracted by food.
Unicorn
- Voiced by: Leah Ostry (2007 series), Rea Reily (2019 series), Maritza Rojas (Spanish)
- Blow You Away: She can do this with her horn.
- Character Catchphrase: Has one refering to each of the other Animal Mechanicals, and always says them when one of the latter starts using their special ability.
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Although Rex is not a Cloudcuckoolander per se, she, more often than not, is the one to keep him in line when he is distracted by food.
- Furry Reminder: When she laughs, she neighs like a horse, obviously telling us unicorns are like horses.
- An Ice Person: Her magic horn can create ice and snow. It can also melt the latter.
- Pink Means Feminine: A pink Girly Girl.
- Token Flyer: She's the only one who can fly.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's the girly girl to Mouse's tomboy.
- Weather Manipulation: Yet another power of her magic horn.
- Winged Unicorn: She's a unicorn that can gain wings when in Mechana-mode.
- Zebras Are Just Striped Horses: Unicorn behaves like a horse sometimes.
Komodo
- Voiced by: Shannon Lynch (2007 series), Alexander Toi (2019 series), Jesus Hernandez (Spanish)
- According to My Calculations: He tends to say saying phrases like this.
- Badass Bookworm: He's the most intelligent of the team, and knows karate.
- Butt-Monkey: There is not one episode where he doesn't get kicked around in some fashion (usually by Sasquatch), except for "The Elephant Train", "Mechana Pinball Island" and "Mechana Dancing Bear Island".
- Character Catchphrase:
- "If I am correct, and I always am..."
- "Fascinating!"
- "Fascinating creature/s!"
- "Curious!"
- "Bad idea!" (when warning Sasquatch about something)
- "Not good!"
- Circling Birdies: Anytime he's hit by something is left with circling stars and gizmos around his head.
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Often the one putting up with Sasquatch's shenanigans.
- Comedic Underwear Exposure: One of the most common silly objects in his arsenal is a pair of underwear.
- Control Freak: He became much bossier in the reboot.
- Deadpan Snarker: He tends to act like this after getting accidentally involved in Sasquatch's shenanigans.
- Fat and Skinny: The skinny to Sasquatch's fat.
- Foil: He's the complete opposite of Sasquatch, and they tend to clash both figuratively and literally.
- How Did That Get in There?: Often his reaction to whatever silly thing he finds in his tool tail.
- Informed Species: Looks more like a Chinese dragon (think Mushu) than an actual komodo dragon.
- Insufferable Genius: Downplayed. He means well to the other Animal Mechanicals but, given the opportunity, he will not hesitate to brag a little about his intelligence.
- Large Ham: He tends to act like a karate fighter for no reason, specially when using his Mechana Gizmo ability.
- Mad Libs Catchphrase:
- "I have {a} very sensitive [body part]."
- "One mighty mechana-[tool] to the rescue!"
- Mundane Made Awesome: As mentioned in Large Ham above, he acts like a karate fighter when using his Mechana ability, which is just using common tools (like a hammer, a screwdriver, a saw or a wrench).
- In "Mechana Dragonfly Island", he makes a paper airplane while doing karate moves.
- Nerd Glasses: Wears these. And he's never seen without them.
- Never Bareheaded: The eye equivalent for Komodo.
- Only Sane Man: The most levelheaded and least impulsive of the Animal Mechanicals.
- Red Is Heroic: He's red and heroic.
- Spock Speak: He usually evokes Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness. That, and he doesn't use contractions oftenly.
- Signature Sound Effect: Expect a high-pitched "boing" sound effect to appear when he's in the spotlight of a scene.
- Unnecessary Combat Roll: Whether on his normal or on his Mechana Gizmo state, he is prone to moving himself around like a karate fighter despite the situation not calling for it. That, and he tends to shout stuff like "Ee-yah!" following the same logic.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He's afraid of balloons popping, as shown in the episode "Balloon Volcano Island".
Mouse
- Voiced by: Abigail Gordon (English, 2007 series), Rea Reily (English, 2019 series), Catherine Brunet (French), Melanie HenrĂquez (Spanish)
- The Baby of the Bunch: She's the youngest Animal Mechanical.
- Character Catchphrase: She tends to say "Unicorn is the coolest!" after Unicorn transforms.
- Height Angst: She sometimes feels bad for being the smallest of the team.
- Super-Speed: Her main power.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: She can understand the gibberish of the creatures that live on the islands the team visits. She usually translates for them.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's the tomboy to Unicorn's girly girl.
Sasquatch
- Voiced by: Ian MacDougall (English, 2007 series), Alexander Toi (English, 2019 series), Gilad Kleter (Hebrew), Ali Rondon (Spanish)
- Aesop Amnesia: No matter how many times his stupid decisions or his pounding cause the mission to be derailed, he always keeps on making them.
- Big Eater: Has shades of this in the reboot.
- Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: He's a mechanical version of the second one.
- Blue Is Heroic: He's blue and heroic.
- Character Catchphrase:
- "It's pounding time!"
- "Oopsie!"
- Circling Birdies: In "Mechana Meteor Island", he briefly sees meteors circling around his head after trying to stop one by himself.
- Cloudcuckoolander: He's the silly one.
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: If Unicorn doesn't keep a hungry Rex in line, Sasquatch will be the one to do so despite being a Cloudcuckoolander all on his own.
- Fat and Skinny: The fat to Komodo's skinny.
- Foil: His lack of brains is the complete opposite of Komodo, and they tend to clash both figuratively and literally.
- Informed Species: He looks more like a ball with mechanical limbs than like a sasquatch.
- Leeroy Jenkins / The Millstone: Due to his stupidity and impulsivity, he tends to derail the Animal Mechanicals' missions.
- Lethally Stupid: In line with Aesop Amnesia above, his stupid actions most of the time endanger the creatures than inhabit the islands the team visits (e.g: making them almost fall of the Island).
- Rubber Man: His main power is this.
- Simpleton Voice: His low-pitched voice quickly sells the idea that he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He's afraid of heights.
Island Owl
- Voiced by: Lenore Zann , Maythe Guedes (Spanish)
- Ambiguous Gender: Has a feminine voice, neutral appearance, and is referred to with he/him pronouns in WildBrain prints. Generally, Island Owl is regarded as female.

- "Your destination is..."
- "Mechana can you do it?!"
