When I Was Your Age... Real Life

  • Among various improvisational games, there is the game "Back in my day . . ." This game uses this trope as a joke. With a given category, and a certain amount of wordplay, improve actors consider a joke for that category. An example would be "Back in my day before . . . stairs." A person could come out and say, "Back in my day before stairs . . . people didn't look at me blankly when I made a bad joke."

Judging Amy

  • Double Standard: Averted in the season 4 episode "Roses & Truth" where Amy has a case of a high school student who slept with his teacher and got her pregnant. At first the boy was charged with rape as the teacher alleged he forced himself on her. The boy's defense, however, showed that the teacher was the sexual predator by bringing in another victim to discuss his relationship with the teacher. It was treated with the seriousness it deserved [[spoiler:and even the teacher's husband looked at her with disgust when he heard the second victim's claims]].

  • Exact Words: In "Roses & Truth" the prosecution is objecting to a surprise witness the defense showed up with feeling they deliberately withheld the name to prevent possible discrediting. Amy gets the prosecution to agree that it was the act of possibly hiding the witness he didn't like rather than hearing from the witness that angers him, giving her no objection to hearing the witness on the stand.

Changes

*GenreBlindness: Harry cannot believe that [[spoiler:the White Council is actually talking about making peace with the Reds, led by Cristos' faction. The Merlin, however, isn't blind. He's invoking blindness. If the Reds want to lull them into thinking peace is at hand, then he and the other Senior Council members (save Cristos) will feign interest and appear to accept it, fully anticipating the knife in the back and be prepared to have an even larger knife to use themselves.]]

* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Because [[spoiler:Wizard Cristos is entertaining peace talks with the Red Court and because the Merlin thinks this is a prelude to draw them into a false sense of complacency and wants the Reds to think the ruse is working, the Merlin orders Harry to not try and save the child]]. Harry ignores this order and does what he will anyway]].

* EvilDetectingDog: Mouse is still very active in this book. First he is aware of and uneasy about [[spoiler:the Leansidhe's presence in Harry's home]]. Later he growls when Susan's vampire side is becoming too much for her and she is almost out of control]].

* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Half-vampires like Martin and Susan get the perks of the evil Red Court, including longevity, super strength, and other enhanced senses. The downside is a drive to drink human blood. The more they use their dark side the greater the urge for blood. [[spoiler:Lea notes they were using it more than they realized if they were passed out like were from her binding method]].

* TheDarkSideWillMakeYouForget: Averted. [[spoiler: After Susan kills Martin and becomes a true Red Court monster without a soul, she retains enough of her humanity to allow Harry to sacrifice her to save her daughter]].
.
* HeroicBSOD: For a short time after Harry got Susan't call, he was in this mode. He couldn't put the phone on the receiver and barely made it to Mac's. It was only because [[spoiler:Mac ''speaking'' to him with ''full grammar'']] did he start to move out of it, past his anger and into TranquilFury.

* INeedAFreakingDrink:
** Soon after Harry gets Susan's bombshell, he decides he needs one and goes to see Mac. He chooses whiskey. Whe Mac learns the reasons, he poured himself one too..
** The Wardens have the Worry Room. It is a well protected bar inside the HQ meant for one place: for old crust wardens to get drunk while being frustrated at the idealism and optimisim of the younger generations. In particular, the ones (like Harry) who are more forgiving of first time offenders and want leniency. It is a place for them to release their anger and frustrations. [[spoiler:After seeing Arianna in Edinburgh, Anastasia takes Harry there to cool down]].

* RightBehindMe: While in Edinburgh, Harry starts making a crack about the Merlin, who [[spoiler:appears from a secret passageway behind a picture]].

* CarryABigStick: Susan used the sturdy leg of a well-made metal table as one.
* ImprovisedWeapon: During [[spoiler:the Red Court's attack on the FBI HQ]] Susan, lacking any fire arms or blades, goes to a sturdy metal table and rips a leg off to make a nice club.

* ShaveAndAHaircut: Harry uses the first half as a signal [[spoiler:to Agent Tilly he isn't one of the attackers attacking the FBI HQ as the an might just shoot if Harry opens the door with just a simple knock]].
Grave Peril
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Harry faces a choice: [[spoiler:allow Susan to be taken away by Bianca, likely turned into a full monster, and walk away with peace and staying in the safety of the laws of the supernatural world or save his beloved and make one final act of violating Sacred Hospitality he previously violated and set off a war]]. Harry takes the later.

  • Reasonable Authority Figure: When Harry told Luccio about Morgan hounding him and trying to push Harry into trying to kill him and then kill Harry in "self-defense" Luccio makes it clear not only didn't she know, but she is furious about this and believes Harry despite the little evidence he has.

* OnlytheChosenMayWield: A Warden's blade is made so only the Wizard it was crafted for could draw out its power. [[spoiler:For this reason, when Morgan sees Anastasia Luccio in the body of a 20-something woman wielding her blade and drawing on its power, he knows she is truly his Captain]].

* TemptingFate: In "The French Connection Job" when they have the mark's attention and focus, Nate says, "Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we're good to go." Cut to some people the mark angered about to enter the restaurant and cause trouble.

* ManBitesMan: Hardison bites a mook in "The French Connection Job." He even warns the guy he would.

FridgeBrilliance: To review a few facts. One, Mouse has undefined Holy Powers. Two, Anduriel is scared of Mouse' power and doesn't like to challenge him. Three, [[spoiler:a being of significant enough Power, like Queen Mab, can block Anduriel's spying powers]]. Now, back in changes Mouse [[spoiler:sat at the entrance to Mac's focusing on the threshold like Mab did here. It makes sense now that he was keeping Anduriel out of the area to help keep Harry safe and secrets secret.]]

Frozen the movie exists in the series
And it is someone's Long Con gambit to change Mab into a nicer person. Consider how Odin can shift into a Kringle mask now because of his connection to Santa Claus. If in the next 200-400 years, Ice Queen Elsa, a Physical God-Tier powerhouse, becomes the predominant figure the Ice Queens and how the original Snow Queen was a cold, distant figure but with some kindness in her heart is very Mab-like already, then Elsa usurping the primary spot will change Mab in time.

Hi, Lituanian1996.

For starters, this is not a thread for requesting edits while you cannot do it. This is a workshop to improve writing.

This is usually recommended for those whose primary language isn't English. Unfortunately, too many editors ignore this section and go straight up to editing articles without checking. This is unfair to the reader, who will question the quality of the article, and unfair to your fellow editors, who end up having to repair mistakes that aren't theirs.

The resulting lack of communication on this thread is more often than not a swift suspension from the moderators if the inconsistency is inherent in a large part of your edits.

To help improve your English, start by putting a few sentences that need checking here and we'll let you know what can be corrected.

String Theory

Swiss Bank Account

''Series/{{Castle}}'': The VictimOfTheWeek of "The Greater Good" episode was a share trader that was in involved in a shady deal that involved 25 mil being funnelled through an anonymous account at the Suisse Federal Bank.

Fire, Ice, Lightning

Three of the four original factions for ''TabletopGame/IronKingdoms'' had weapons and spells based on the elemental trio. The Protectorate of Menoth uses fire as part of its BurnTheWitch[=/=]ChurchMilitant theme, Khador uses ice as part of being a FantasyCounterpartCulture to Russia and Cygar uses lightning since it is advanced enough to harness electricity. The other faction, Cryx favours acid.

Electromagnetic Ghosts

The only way ghosts in ''Series/WitchesOfEastEnd'' can interact with the living world is by manipulating electricity such as causing static on screens, flickering lights or causing power surges because they are "PureEnergy". Otherwise they are intangible and only visible to witches.

Disgusting Public Toilet

''WesternAnimation/TheClevelandShow'': In the "Field of Streams" episode, Cleveland goes to gas station toilet that is covered in human waste. What makes it even worse is that there isn't any toilet paper, forcing him to use his own socks to clean himself. Opening Shout-Out

''WesternAnimation/AmericanDad'': In the "Honey, I'm Homeland" episode, Stan is in a rush and tells Klaus to "Get ready to flip me my car keys with your tail, like you do every morning", something he does in the opening credits.

Suffer the Slings

Slings in ''TabletopGame/{{Mordheim}}'' have similar stats to short bows but with a special rule allowing them to be fired twice if the unit wielding it does not move in the same turn. A popular tactic for the [[RodentsOfUnusualSize Skaven]] warband is to arm a whole lot of cheap units with slings for a ZergRush.

Sinister Scythe

''WesternAnimation/BatmanGothamKnight'': [[ScaryScarecrows Scarecrow]] and his gang of escaped [[BedlamHouse Arkham]] inmates and CrazyHomelessPeople wield scythes and sickles in the "In Darkness Dwells" segment.

Insane Proprietor

''WesternAnimation/{{Grojband}}'' "[=DreamReaver=] Part 1": Inverted with 3D Dave from 3D Dave's TV Store, Peaceville's most mentally stable home electronics store. The store where prices may seem crazy at first but actually results in a modest profit while still offering bargains.
