It is an age of heroes. From the day the Saint was first seen in newsreels back in '39 all those years ago, there have always been heroes. For decades, they've protected the world from superpowered criminals, mad scientists, nazi nitwits, alien invaders, and even the odd incursion from other dimensions. Regardless of their origins — whether they received their powers in some sort of accident, were born with their abilities, used tech to get by, or relied purely on their training and hard work — they have long vowed to protect the world and make it a better place.
However, in recent years, things have changed. In times gone by, most heroes began their careers well into adulthood, with only the occasional sidekicks being the exception. But as the decades went on, more and more young heroes began receiving their powers or beginning their careers younger and younger, often without the proper training or maturity to properly use them or not get themselves hurt. Or worse. And so a solution was reached. Founded by Saint Solutions, a series of schools for young heroes in training was established across the globe. Now, any young whippersnapper who wishes to become a hero or even just learn to control their powers goes to one of these schools. Staffed largely by experienced, older heroes, they're the best place to go for anyone who wishes to hone their skills and truly learn what it takes to become a hero.
But the best of them all is is none other than Saint Academy, located right in Super City, California. And it's President is none other than the original Superhero himself, The Saint. Blessed with great strength and speed as well as extended longevity, he still has a reputation as the world's greatest hero despite retiring long ago, but he nonetheless does his best to make the world a better place in his own way. And that includes molding brave new heroes that can help continue to protect the world in his absence. However, that also makes Saint Academy a prime target for any eager villains looking to make a name for themselves. The Lethal Legion has long sought to destroy the academy and with it the world's best and brightest symbol of hope and peace. But this year, something has changed. Something only a select few people know, including the Legion. One thing is for sure: It's going to be a hell of a year.

My Superhero Academy is a Play-by-Post game started on TV Tropes in February 2018 by kkhohoho, inspired by the likes of My Hero Academia and Avengers Academy. It's a superhero RP, set in a Superhero School (obviously) called Saint Academy. Players are students of Class 1 (though its not necessary to be a freshman). The school is open for those who want to become full-fledged superheroes and for those who just want to have a grasp on their powers. Any kind of power (or lack of powers) is welcome.

- Aborted Arc: The Tournament Arc ended rather abruptly when Scary Dogmatic Aliens (more or less) took control of some of the school equipment to try abducting a student.
- Academy of Adventure: Its supposed to be a school that just so happens to specialize in training heroes. In less than a semester, Class One has fought off an infamous supervillain team and been to Hell and back.
- Always in Class One: Yep. Class One is always right in the middle of something, so much that it has a reputation by the time Lucien transfers in.
- Can't Get Away with Nuthin': One illicit party at a pool that was forbidden—without anyone telling the students why the thing was forbidden led to mass chaos and...see Poor Communication Kills.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: A few of the students of class 1 vanished from the story, note , including; Adrian/Dr. Dissonance note , Lee Kotonote , Victornote , Andrew note , Rebecca Raleigh note and Liam note . Jack O'Leary appeared and disappeared in the Deep Forest arc.
- Combat Tentacles: Some students, such as Lucy and Hei Lin, use these as part of their powers.
- Commuting on a Bus: Rosalinda was Put on a Bus note but makes recurring appearances, notably returning the first time to immolate Matten.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Victoria gets two. One she burst into a scene rescuing Rebecca and punching out Pacifer in a single Dynamic Entry. Another during the tournament when she brought Fiona note to her knees with a single uppercut.
- The Cutie: Lucy is this to (almost) everyone. note
- Deadly Training Area: The training room. One can reserve time in it, not unlike a study room—and for this school, well it is a study room.
- Deadpan Snarker: Many of the characters have their moments, but Rosalinda tends to get in more than most. Or at least before she started advocating torture.
- Demoted to Extra: Liam made sparse appearances, and Ever Green actively dislikes him for his apparent neutrality mixed with complaining, but he kept appearing up to the Deep Forest Arc. Victoria made far less impact on the plot after her Heroic BSoD in the tournament arc, and has only made cameos in later sagas, rarely fighting any of the arc villains. Most notably she did nothing when a Wave-Motion Gun was aimed directly at her and the rest of Class 1. As of the Class's trip to the Abyss, she still hasn't recovered, and her finding out that an alternate self never cured her lycanthropy may have made her funk worse.
- Don't Go in the Woods: The forest is one of the forbidden zones. The last person who entered came out a satyr. No, they didn't go in that way. Class 1 later enters the woods with a guide and avoids the deeper parts, but Sam still leaves a catman and they barely stop a fey invasion of Earth.
- Easily Forgiven: Averted for morally questionable acts committed by some of Class 1 members, and especially Rosalinda's torture. They all face consequences of their actions. Later played straight when Mikael kills a villain and Lucy traumatizes several. Though Lucy was suffering a Split-Personality Takeover. Lucy in general rarely has anyone angry at her. Mahvash doesn't spare a thought over Lucy trying to kill her or her bad future self, but ...she's Mahvash.
- Enemy Within: Quite a few lurking around Class 1. Alexa has a mysterious voice questioning her every action and motivations; Liam has a power-hungry voice in his head that is both after Regalia's 'other half' and seems much more capable than Alexa's of provoking its host into action; and Lucy...has a feral abomination that emerges when she loses consciousness.Saint feared one would emerge in Mikael, but it never materialized. He actually got nicer when he became a demon. (See: Laurie's Logs)
- Epic Hail: When Sam notices the unfolding disaster at the outdoor pool, he leaves an ice note in the dorm lobby to alert anyone else in the dorms. Matten's and Mikael's attempt to retrieve Dr. Bozo goes rather less well.
- Evil Counterpart: Lethal Legion seem to be this to Class 1, as they all have powers that correspond to Class 1 members and they're evil.
- Expy: Many teachers and students are inspired by superheroes from DC, Marvel, and My Hero Academia.
- Five-Man Band: There are more than five students in Class 1, but the core group roughly fits: The Pool Incident
- Forbidden Zone: The school has three: the outdoor pool, the forest, and storage closest 13. Each turns out to be a portal to Another Dimension, and the pool at least brainwashes and transforms into merfolk all who enter. The 13th closet and forest are heavily implied to do the same, by the will of the powerful beings who hold sway in each area.
- For Want Of A Nail: The entire bad future branches off from Lucy feeling abandoned after fighting with Mahvash and being injured. In the main time line, Hei Lin came to her aid while Mahvash left left him to it (albeit with a kit she took from the base). In the Bad Future, she just lay not able to die from a Wound That Would Not Heal. In neither time line did Mahvash bother to explain that she said 'I don't care' in response to Lucy trying to kill her rather than the girl begging for aid, leaving it for Lucy to interpret in light of her actions.
- Gender Bender: Both Hei and Mikael are victims of this. However, this is NOT Played for Laughs.
- Good Future: After the nightmare 'Empress' Lucy dimension, Class 1 finds itself in a slightly futuristic version of their world in which Victoria has achieved fame (though not a cure to her lycanthropy); Lucy and Lin have children attending Saint Academy; and Remix is a famous DJ-hero. And despite Remix having an Album called Remix-Mahvash, the daeva pointedly does not exist in the good place, a point she doesn't vocalize about but does give her even more existential pains.
- Gotta Rescue Them All: The value the school (or Interceptor) tries to instill in students after the training exercise, in which, admittedly, not a single student checked the area for civilians (though clearly at least Liam thought about it).
- Heroic BSoD: Lucy has one after disabling a robot; though it has more to do with the way she disabled it. Has a much more crippling one after she turned into a constantly growing mass of ink. Victoria has one that all but takes her out of the field for the 3rd part of the story.
- Idiot Ball: During the Outdoor Pool incident, Rebecca (suddenly in charge) has no patience for this, particularly towards those students whose immediate reaction to transformed people was throwing them out of the water onto land, when said transformation had already saddled those people with gills. She doesn't have much patience for Heroic BSoD either as Liam found out during that very incident.
- Implacable Man: Elim note proves himself to be this in the cafeteria, his Healing Factor helping him shrug off a leg frozen and broken off, his head being put through a wall, and generally the intense attention of the students in the cafeteria while laughing and mocking the whole time. Most of the students in-universe consider him a demon (metaphorically), and the players out of universe consider him a Hate Sink who is so far, unmatched by anyone else.
- Andrew also displays similar levels of determination, although this is somewhat evened out by him being easily distracted. Although, unlike Elimnote , Andrew actually doesn't have a healing factor ( Although he does have Druid powers), he simply does not care about pain. He does feel pain, he just isn't the least bit bothered by it. He once stayed on his feet and walked after breaking his leg kicking a werewolf in the throat while said werewolf was swinging him in the air like a chain-ball mace. Talk about determination.
- MegaCorp: The Technology Corporation, or as it's commonly know, "Techcorp."
- Myth Arc: The rp is ultimately about the characters maturing as potential hero material (or not). The story is so character driven that the story arcs are better set around character growth than plot elements. As seen under Five-Man Band, the roles of the core five change with each season.
- Season 1 includes the Outdoor Pool and Lethal Legion Story Arcs, but is mostly about the class being introduced to the strange things that'll set the tone for the rest of the school year, and a few finding new abilities or finding the dark sides to their abilities, setting the stages for their later character arcs.
- Season 2 includes the Tournament Arc and Deep Woods Arcs. Class 1 settled into enduring intra-class relationships, confronted their doubts and dark sidesnote , and tested each other.
- Season 3 includes Parents' Day and an Anabasis. Secrets and feelings start coming out hard and fast, along with a brief vision of hope that doesn't include everyone.
N-Z
- Neutral Hero: Liam is often called out on this kind of behavior by his classmates, particularly Ever Green. Later, Victoria becomes this after the tournament arc and well into the Deep Forest, even with a Wave-Motion Gun pointed at her and the rest of the class.
- Not Wearing Tights: Played With. The school is called a superhero academy (as is the roleplay), but while some characters consider themselves future (and present) superheroes others think of themselves as soldiers testing new equipment, freedom fighters, or physical gods in training.
- One-Shot Character: Lee Koto first appeared in the middle of the qualifying race using Mikael as a launching pad to dart to the finish. He vanished after the incident. Jack O'Leary had some plot impact, as his gambit to manipulate a mook into a 'heroic' sacrifice fails, leaving Sam to give up and accept his fate.
- One-Steve Limit: Averted; there are Mike and Mikael, Victor and Victoria.
- Overly Long Gag: Andrew's breakfast.
- Paper-Thin Disguise Victor dons one to try and escape punishment for the miniature Robot War he lead to the students.
- Plausible Deniability: Played With. Several students declined to attend the party, but a few, like Ever Green, Matten, and Victoria did not know there was a party at all. Mikael came to get the former two after everything had gone FUBAR. Victoria managed to sleep through the whole event. In any case, the staff tell everyone they see at the party that they're in trouble. Victoria may or may not avoid the same.
- Poor Communication Kills: Spoiler
- Power Incontinence: Several students, including both local poisonous people.
- Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Two Shrinking Violets, a daeva, a girl with no hygiene, a Military Brat, a Jerk Jock, a freedom fighter who was punched across space, a Robot Girl, a Technically-Living Zombie, and a Nerd in Evil's Helmet are just some students in Class 1.
- Secret Test of Character: Dr. Bozo inflicts this on Matten—who in his defense does acts rather little like an Ideal Hero.
- Ship Tease: A lot between Hei Lin and Lucy but it gets particularly thick when Hei Lin finds a picture she painted of him, and thicker still later on when Lucy gave him a thank-you kiss for rescuing her. There's also a bit more blatant tension between Mike and Rebecca.
- Superheroes Stay Single: Mike and Rebecca seem to averting this trope very quickly, and Mike showed little intent on staying single from his introductory scene. Also, Hei Lin and Lucy (see above). Mahvash has no intention of remaining chaste for any length of time, but also considers Class 1 slim pickings between the lack of peers and peers that she likes.
- Will probably be played straight with Andrew due to the fact that he's contagious, but a subversion is possible.
- Sufficiently Analyzed Magic: The school has a magic lab and several characters extensively study magic. Mahvash spends a great deal of time in the magic lab working on her techniques and developing theories and even blends physics, chemistry, and magics in equally blended Magi Babble and Techno Babble.
- The Bus Came Back: After missing the Deep Forest camping trip, Ever Green reappears for Parents' Day, thoroughly unamused by those with parents complaining about the event. Oliver and Mike returned for Parents' Day as well. In the same arc, Omega returned with... consequences
- There Are No Therapists: Averted. The school has a therapist, Laurie.
- Thou Shalt Not Kill: The Interceptor enforces this on the students even before their first training exercise. Interestingly, the first student to break the rule is Mikael.
- Torture Is Ineffective: Rosalinda tries to get information from Yvanne by torture... which does not succeed because Yvanne doesn't give a shit.
- Thwarted Coup de Grâce: Leon manages to attract both a daeva and a newly transformed demon just before landing a finishing blow on Saint. Mikael, in particular, averts the killing blow with quite the Dynamic Entry—which he couldn't have performed with the help of his sister (part of the Lethal Legion that Leon himself had gathered).
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: From Matten's halo to Oliver's gills. About the only thing that gets interest is Rebecca's layer of grime (particularly from Ever Green, who has very good reason to keep aware of that).
- Warrior Therapist: Saint seems to have shades of this, as talked some fighting spirit into Liam after the later avoided participating in the kaiju fight in fear of his own power.
- Wham Episode: The students throw a party at the forbidden, Outdoor Pool (starting here). By the end of it, there are several casualties, at least one job loss, several Let's Get Dangerous! moments, several breakdowns and near-misses, and an epic example of Poor Communication Kills. A while later, another hits when the class crosses into another dimension after a training accident. (Yes, it was a training accident). They learn more about one of their classmates and the potential direction of the future than they may have wanted to know.
- What the Hell, Hero?: The Saint and, somewhat surprisingly, a Bad Future dwelling villain called Monarch tear into our heroes for their less than heroic behavior - including conspiring to turn someone into a girl against their will - as well as treating the Gender Bender condition as if it was nothing but a quirky or funny circumstance and nothing serious, eating a robot's heart to get back up faster, torturing their foes, Matten...being Matten, really, Sam's intense violence he seems to view as cartoonish violence. The fact a Dimension Lord supervillain objects to them is...quite the indictment.
- When Dimensions Collide: ...your most esteemed hero has to deal with eldritch beings who want nothing more than to collect as many slaves as possible in your world. And said collection comes in the form of seemingly innocuous pools, forests, and closets that bewitch those who enter them...
