Darksilvania
To help with the Fakémon Month designs and with chatting about the Pokémon franchise, Crafty solicits the help of Darksilvania. He has many years of experience with designing Fakémon, but almost none when it comes to handling Crafty and Nurse's bickering throughout the month. Nonetheless, he is happy to be a part of the show and is eager to talk about everything he enjoys and finds questionable about his favorite franchise.
- Evil All Along: With the Fakémon starters complete by "Super fighting monsters! MEGAMON," Darksilvania departs the castle with the fire starter, Embull. While Darksilvania has been cordial with them throughout his visit, Nurse questions whether Crafty should have allowed him to possess that kind of power. The show proves her concerns right when it cuts to him ravaging a city with his Fakémon.[Having made his choice, Darksilvania leaves the castle.]
Crafty: These past four episodes have left me absolutely chuffed! Kids these days... They grow up so fast!
Nurse: ... You realize that you're just letting that person roam around—unsupervised—with an extremely dangerous, fire-breathing monster?!
Crafty: Oh, please. What's the worst that could happen?
[As it turns out, the worst did happen. The show cuts to a ruined city in flames, with Darksilvania riding his fully-raised, mega-evolved starter in the center of the chaos.]
Darksilvania: IDIOTS! PAY TRIBUTE TO YOUR NEWFOUND KING! YOU PEASANTS WILL OBEY ME!! - Nice Mean And In Between: For the entirety of Fakémon Month, Darksilvania is very pleasant and eager to participate in the show, but he's also stuck having to ease Crafty and Nurse's bickering. Crafty is as egotistical as he's been throughout Season 2 so far, putting his opinion above his cohosts and even getting on Darksilvania's case for talking too much in "A Fresh Starter." Nurse, meanwhile, reacts strongly to Crafty's foolishness, losing her temper with him a lot. But she also treats Darksilvania more cordially than Crafty, trying to stay calm by actively engaging with him about the Pokémon franchise.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Darksilvania made his own pose set for the episodes in which he appears, leading to some stylistic differences between his and the show's typical art style. The most notable difference is that his pose set uses blended shading, whereas the Dr. Crafty art style uses hard shading.
- Talking with Signs: Uniquely, Darksilvania doesn't talk, using text boxes in the style of Pokémon Red and Blue to speak instead. Each one of them is heralded with the game's classic beeping noise. Crafty admits in "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped" that this beeping quickly got on his nerves. Though Dark made the sketch for the episode's artwork, he doesn't physically reappear, something that Crafty is thankful for.
Professor Merry
The first guest host to appear on the Patreon-sponsored episodes. She's overjoyed to be in the episode, even bringing her own script for it. Although, Crafty would come to eventually regret this decision...She's also the only guest host so far to have a second episode, returning from orbit for more fanfics.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Becomes this in her second appearance towards the end when Crafty reveals Molly invited him visual novel style for a brunch date.
- Endearingly Dorky: She often gets this way over her dedication to the script she wrote for her friend Molly, though as the episode progresses, she starts to get a little too dedicated to it.
- Gorgeous Gorgon: She notably has eels for hair, not that it distracts from her good looks at all.
- I Have My Ways: Her reaction to being asked how she got into Crafty's secret lair. Disgustilda advised her to use a spoon to dig her way in.
- Made of Iron: Near the end of the episode, she ends up blown skyward by an explosion from her fanfic-writing machine. Despite staying up there for a long time, Molly makes note that she'll be fine when she comes back down. This turns out to be true, as she returns for a second Patreon episode by falling from orbit and through the roof, and is no worse for wear despite it, eager to get back to business.
- Mad Scientist: Both she and her friend Molly are scientists, and the "Mad" part comes from her obsession for writing fan-fiction.
- Our Mermaids Are Different: Well for starters, she's also part Gorgon.
- Self-Insert Fic: What Molly reveals Merry's script really is: just a glorified Fan Fic with Molly shoehorned into multiple scenarios.
- Shipper on Deck: States as much in her second episode where the focus of her commissioned pieces is shipping Nurse Worse with her own assistant, Nurse Millie. ...which turns out to have a grain of truth in them after all when the two nurses meet in person. In turn, she is utterly flabbergasted at Crafty's utter cluelessness at her attempts at arousing him with pieces of the Nurses in swimwear.
- Side Effects Include...: She decides to list off the side-effects of Evil Laughing... and it goes on for a very, very long time!
- Transparent Closet: She accidentally makes a Freudian Slip calling Molly her girlfriend, but later backtracks and simply refers to her as just a fellow scientist. Crafty calls her out on this in her second appearance after she delights at the sight of her chibi and her hopes of getting "Milly to snuggle with her."
The Patsy
- Early-Bird Cameo: The patsy makes his first physical appearance on the show in "Socializing is Arcane" during a Cutaway Gag, where he briefly reflects on the various toys on his dresser that have been removed from their packaging.Crafty: You know, I'm really curious what the old fandom was like before this newer iteration [of My Little Pony].
Nurse: Oh! I can talk about that no problem!
Crafty: Oh? You were into the old one while I'm into the new one? I'm interested to hear your input.
Nurse: O-oh, well, um... Back in the old fandom, people were really nice and would come together to be creative with one another. There would be dolls that artists would bake, and they'd act as bases, letting other artists come up with really incredible designs.
Crafty: Oh wow! That sounds so... wholesome. You'd never see a guy do the same thing with his transformers. Gotta keep them in mint condition, I guess. 'Cause I mean, who wants to play with kids toys, am I right?
[There's a cut to the Patsy editing the show in his room. He perks up at Crafty's question, then looks back concernedly at the various unboxed toys atop his dresser.]
The Patsy: What have I been doing with my life?
[Nurse and Crafty return after a Dr. Crafty-themed transition. Both of them look a little confused.]
Nurse: ... Do you ever worry that we get too meta on our show?
Others
Junkrat
- Art Initiates Life: This Junkrat is a notable instance of Crafty's art coming to life. Sometime after "A Lovely Day for Meihem," where the Junkrat artwork is drawn, Junkrat comes to life in time for "The Monster, the Sniper, and the CLOD."
- Black Comedy Cannibalism: He is willing and eager to eat other humans. When a group of Crafty's now-sentient art finds themselves in their creator's storage in "The Monster, the Sniper and the CLOD," it is Junkrat who suggests eating each other. Subsequent appearances show that he comes out on top, securing his honorary spot in the castle.
- Extreme Omnivore: Junkrat will eat just about anything put in front of him, especially if it's alive. A common sight in his storage room are piles of skulls and uneaten bits of characters that fell before him. It's especially prominent in "Charablanca" and "Original Episode; Do Not Steal."
- Non-Standard Character Design: This Junkrat, despite initially being drawn up by Crafty, eventually settles into being his in-game model, even swapping between various skins when appropriate. He remains this way well into Season 4, even up to his untimely death at the hands of Metal Crafty in "Original Episode; Do Not Steal."
Zombie Minions
The writers, editors, and additional artists of Crafty's videos. They're zombified versions of Paladin Taim, RJ Grid, Nero, and Whyboy of ToonGrin, ToxicSoul77, Katy Johnson, the real Crafty, and SkittlezJuice.- Amazing Technicolor Population: Katy has pink skin, which is quite an unusual color for the undead.
- Artificial Limbs: RJ has a metal claw for a left arm.
- Author Avatar: Zombie Crafty is the zombified avatar of the show's creator and Crafty's VA, though he is seldom used since Crafty fulfills a similar purpose.
- Butt-Monkey: Unless they directly threaten to attack the doctor, they get no respect from Crafty as employees.
- The Cameo: They briefly appear in Part 4 of "I Need a Hero Academia," where they're seen standing in a doorway watching the action unfold.
- Celebrity Paradox: Katy and ToxicSoul77 are the voices of Pepper and Messibelle, yet they also exist as zombies in-universe.
- Fan Disservice: Katy's shirt exposes her abdomen... or what's left of it, as all that remains of her torso is her spine and pelvis.
- Frankenstein's Monster: SkittlezJuice has more in common with the likes of Nurse and Screw than a typical zombie. She has a giant head-bolt, multicolored stitched skin, and no exposed bones, unlike her decaying zombie coworkers.
- Flesh-Eating Zombie: According to AskFM, the zombies eat some of the fan-art characters Crafty keeps in storage.
- Glowing Eyelights of Undeath: The ToonGrin zombies have these.
- Killed Off for Real: To symbolize Paladin Taim's permanent departure from the show, his zombie self is unceremoniously shot dead in the Season 3 update video.
- Put on a Bus:
- During the transition between seasons 2 and 3, Paladin Taim was fired from the show. Katy and her zombie persona took his place.
- RJ Grid has also stepped down as editor, though on much friendlier terms.
- Reused Character Design: Zombie Crafty borrows his poses and some design cues from Crafty, seeing as they have the same VA.
- Revenant Zombie: They're intelligent enough to use the software and grammar required to do their jobs.
- Satellite Character: Their only defining characteristic is that they write and edit the show. They don't have much of a presence on the show besides that.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Whenever Crafty tries to take advantage of them, they usually respond by spewing several (somehow grammatically correct) profanities.
- Suddenly Speaking: After all the cameos the zombies made, Episode 51 finally gives a speaking moment to Nero... though how he can talk when he's missing a jaw is anyone's guess.
- Those Two Guys: Nero and Whyboy are commonly seen together. This is because the writers they're based on host their own show: ToonGrin. They speak for the other zombies and their displeasure of working under Crafty, calling him out more viciously than the main characters could ever hope. Nero, in particular, delights in attacking Crafty's appearance under his breath.
- Who Writes This Crap?!: This is their preferred method of getting back at Crafty: by making him say embarrassing things they write in the script.
Crafty Fan Characters
#10: Glister
- Evil Living Flames: He is, in fact, a living grease fire, and as such must wear the proper gear to keep from burning the things he handles. He attempted to be his own supervillain before approaching Crafty, but because that effort went down the drain, he's resigned to being a grumpy janitor instead.
#9: Gale Dullahan
- Headless Horseman: In mythology, dullahans are typically depicted on horseback; Gale pays homage to that with her cart in the shape of an armored horse.
- Losing Your Head: As a dullahan, Gale's head is naturally detached from her body. It's far from an inconvenience for her, though she does invite puns about it during her introduction. And much to Crafty's chagrin, Gale plays along.Crafty: All right, who's next...?
Gale: Gale Dullahan at your service, Doctor!
Messi: Ahh!! Head's up!
Crafty: .. Really?
Gale: Oops! Aheheh, got a little ahead of myself there!
Crafty: Oh god, it's spreading! - Makeover Fairy: She demonstrates her talents as a stylist in "Crafty Fan Characters" by summoning Nurse (dressed in only a towel) and dressing her up in the Greaserized Sandy outfit from "Grease Frightening" in only a few seconds. Though Nurse herself is left in a dizzied state, it's enough for Crafty and Messi to promptly hire her.
#8: Maidbot
When Crafty's lab became littered with garbage before the fourth Patreon-sponsored episode, Dr. Crafty needed some help to clean it up, as Nurse, Messibelle, and Pepper were at the club.
- Ascended Extra: She was originally #8 on Top Ten Dr. Crafty Fan Characters, and since then had a cameo in Top Ten Disney Characters, and then she got her own Patreon-sponsored episode.
- The Quiet One: She is capable of speaking, but has only had one line of dialogue so far.
- Robot Maid: She's fully equipped with vacuums, lasers, air fresheners, and a trash compactor. Shame the Doctor didn't actually install the trash compactor.
- Super-Powered Robot Meter Maids: Without the "Meter" part. Lasers aren't exactly necessary for a robot maid.
#7: Duke Crocodile
- Ascended Extra: Duke is one of the lucky fan characters to have some occasional appearances past "Crafty Fan Characters!" He first makes a reappearance in "The BIG Problem", working security alongside Scout so Big the Cat won't sneak into the castle. Because Duke gets distracted by his cousin, Vector the Crocodile, Big sneaks in anyway.
- Beautiful Singing Voice: He performs a surprisingly good rendition of Ave Maria to wrap up "The BIG Problem", right before getting knocked unconscious by Metal Crafty.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: After being inducted into Crafty industries, the hulking Duke is lumped with the dinky Scout to form Crafty's duo of security guards.
- Let's Get Dangerous!: While a Kindhearted Simpleton, Duke is still not to be trifled with; he'll quickly demonstrate how effective he is at security despite his faults. In "Crawling in my Legendary Skin," Duke and Scout brutalize the castle's Junkrat and his accompanying fellow Overwatch characters. Before the camera cuts away when the carnage begins, Duke throws himself into the fight with the same dopey smile that he always wears.
- Never Smile at a Crocodile: Duke's friendly demeanor belies a force to be reckoned with, something that is occasionally hinted at throughout his appearances.
- In his debut, "Crafty Fan Characters," Duke invites himself into the castle in search of a job, inspired to do so thanks to a self-made "Help Wanted" sign. Crafty and Messi quickly realize that they can't make Duke leave, with Messi warning aloud that he'd try to eat them if they tried. To illustrate her point, Duke suddenly remarks that Messibelle would make for a tasty jelly for toast, eyeing her with hungry intent. Thankfully, Crafty has Duke sit off-camera until he can think of a job for him before he does anything.
- In "The BIG Problem," Duke gets too distracted telling his cousin, a visiting Vector the Crocodile, a joke, and he lets Big the Cat sneak into the castle unnoticed. When Big appears in the castle's Salon, Stylene has to remind Crafty that he needs to be careful about how he reprimands Duke.Crafty: When I get my hands on Duke...
Stylene: ... They'll be quickly bitten off? - When some Overwatch characters led by (the newly revived) Junkrat drop by the castle for Halloween candy in "Crawling in My Legendary Skin," it's Scout and Duke who greet them at the door. It ends with the visitors facing a brutal death (though they revive just before the episode closes out).
#6: Mabell
- Amazonian Beauty: Building strength is Mabell's specialty, and she is designed to be rather cute. She's among the lady Fan Characters who accompany Messi to a strip club in "Disney Characters."
- Minnesota Nice: Her accent and overall pleasant attitude hark back to Midwestern Americans. That being said, she's a bit overeager to get started on lifting.
- Our Minotaurs Are Different: While identified as a minotaur, the bovine aspects of her design are toned down significantly (her head isn't that of a cow's, for example), rooting her firmly in Cute Monster Girl territory.
#5: Slivia Mason
- Gorgeous Gorgon: She has a number of huge snakes for hair that help her out with her deliveries, though no one's frightened in the least. If anything, the literal number of mouths to feed gives Messi reason enough to vouch for her.
- Mercury's Wings: She has a pair of wings on her roller skates, assisting her in her speedy deliveries.
#4: Frankie
- Frankenstein's Monster: She's made of hilariously mismatched body parts, particularly the oversized arms.
- Large Ham: Frankie approaches her work with extreme bravado, being very loud and overly dramatic whether entering or leaving.
- Magical Girl: Frankie declares herself as a magical girl in her introduction during "Crafty Fan Characters." She has the boastful approach and desire to snuff out evil of one as well.
- Top-Heavy Guy: Most of her body mass is just her huge musclebound arms.
#3: Serena
- Ascended Extra: Out of all the fan characters so far, she's had the most appearances, owing to her intense crush on Messibelle, which she is completely unaware of.
- Girl Friday: Serena successfully applies as Crafty Industries chief secretary, noting how unorganized Crafty's business is on her arrival in "Crafty Fan Characters!" However, in subsequent appearances, it's extremely rare for her to be performing her duties, as she's far too busy trying to win Messi's heart.
- Interspecies Romance: She desperately tries to strike up a romance with Messi, but it remains a one-sided affair.
- Our Fairies Are Different: She's listed as a phalene, and is modeled after the luna moth species.
#2: Rob Otto
- Humongous Mecha: Rob is mainly tasked with constructing huge mechs in the Crafty Crewmates' images.
- His first project is a Crafty mech, first shown in "Crafty Fan Characters" in a brief cutaway. He stops to marvel at his work, declaring that his creation's "morphing time will soon come."
- In "I Need a Hero Academia" Part 2, Screw thumbs through her tablet for information on the Crew's castle. She briefly passes over a notable easter egg: Rob's blueprints for Nurse, Pepper, Messi, and Crystelle's own mechs, in addition to Crafty's.
#1: Scout the Werepup
- Angry Guard Dog: Scout applies to become a guard dog for Crafty Industries in "Crafty Fan Characters," and she has the temper to match. Messi learns of that attitude firsthand after she remarks on Scout's stature. Crafty, however, gives Scout a good scratch behind the ears and softens her mood instantaneously.
- Ascended Extra: Along with a non-speaking cameo with the other ladies of the first Top 10 Fan Characters in "Disney Characters," she makes another appearance in "The BIG Problem", working security alongside Duke Crocodile in a vain attempt to keep Big the Cat away from the episode.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: She gets paired with Duke Crocodile as a two-man security guard team. The differences between Scout's tiny size and Duke's massive stature is obvious, but both of them prove to be equally threatening in "Crawling in My Legendary Skin" against some trick-or-treating Overwatch characters.
- Our Werewolves Are Different: Her human form never appears in the show proper. However, the reference sheet provided for her in "Crafty Fan Characters" reveals that she has an alternate, far more feral, werewolf form that stands more than three times larger than her original tiny size.
#10: Faera
- Our Nymphs Are Different: She identifies as a swamp dryad, with an outfit made from palm tree bark.
- The Ferry Man: Faera applies to help guide people through the swamps to Crafty Castle. Unfortunately, prior to Faera's arrival, Disgustilda made things difficult by introducing sharks to the area.
#9: Mina Conda
- New-Age Retro Hippie: Mina has a lax attitude and demeanor, almost dissonantly so. It leads Crafty to ask if she's high on anything.
- Snake People: Mina is a very large blue snake woman. Unlike some depictions of snake people, she's not at all sinister; all she wants to do is to help soothe the castle residents.
#8: Emit
- Scary Scarecrow: Emit is far from a terrifying sort. He's actually rather friendly, though with an extreme case of pyrophobia—merely mentioning fire sends him into a panicked frenzy.
#7: Bernard Cockatrice
- Basilisk and Cockatrice: Bernard Cockatrice is exactly what his surname implies. Fortunately, he seems to lack the petrifying gaze of his mythological inspirations.
#6: Lila Honey-Trap
- Man-Eating Plant: Lila is closely modeled after the Venus Fly Trap, but she thankfully shows no interest in eating anyone.
- The Chanteuse: She applies to be a lounge singer in "Crafty Idol" to help relax the castle residents; Messi even suggests that she work closely with Mina.
#5: Felicia
- Doting Grandparent: Felicia acts as an affectionate grandma for just about anyone. She dotes upon others by knitting sweaters for them — even Disgustilda.Crafty: S-so! Ahem... What are you hoping to do for Crafty Productions?
Felicia: Ohhh, I'm just a simple old sheep who makes lots and lots of sweaters. So if anyone is ever cold in your drafty castle, I'll be more than happy to make a special sweater to warm your bodies and your hearts.
Messi: Can you be our grandma? Like... All of our grandmas?
Disgustilda: MINE, TOO!
Crafty: I'm fairly certain you already are a grandma.
Felicia: Awww, here!
[Felicia starts tossing sweaters left and right.]
Felicia: You get a sweater! And you get a sweater! And you get a sweater!! Everyone gets a sweater!! - Sweet Sheep: Felicia is a very docile sort; she just wishes to knit fluffy sweaters from her own wool to help others feel comfortable.
#4: Arigeta Kuroko
- Hero Antagonist: Arigeta wishes to serve as a hero who fights Crafty so he'll actually have a hero to fight, as opposed to him strictly fighting other villains. It's left ambiguous whether she recognizes Crafty's villainy as an act, however.
#3: Mortimer
- Unstoppable Mailman: Not even death has slowed down his delivery services one bit. He even brings this up as a selling point in "Crafty Idol."
#2: Florence
- Something about a Rose: Roses form the primary motif of her design, with one on her chest becoming something of a mood indicator.
#1: Vinessa
- Man-Eating Plant: Not only does she have Venus-Fly Traps for hair buns, but she also applies to help increase the ferocity of the plant monsters in Crafty's garden.
