Hate Sink / Hitman

Go To

Hitman is a series with some very unsavory characters. Here are the Most unlikable people that 47 has assassinated over the years. All spoilers are unmarked, so proceed with caution.

Silent assassin

Contracts

  • Campbell Sturrock, while nowhere near as unlikable as Malcolm, is still an immensely despicable person. Running a meat packing plant in Romania, he was secretly a crime boss who used his ill gotten gains to throw bondage parties while he gouges down extreme amounts of food. What really makes him odious is the fact he kidnapped a teenage girl to sell to his own brother, who proceeded to do the unspeakable with her. He decides to celebrate this Karma Houdini by throwing a party in the same slaughterhouse where the girl's mutilated corpse is festering in. When encountered, he's a repulsive hedonist who embodies the worst traits a fetishist can have, being so charmless and pathetic that killing him feels uniquely satisfying.

  • Malcolm Sturrock is quite possibly the most evil NPC to ever appear in a game who isn't a required contract. The brother of Campbell Sturrock, Malcolm used his connections to kidnap a teenage girl, torturing, dismembering, and raping her before killing her in the most horrific way imaginable. Not being satisfied with just this, he dances around her corpse, which he has converted to a shrine for her. Even though he can potentially get away with his crimes, killing him is encouraged by the game itself, with 47 still being able to obtain a silent assassin rating if he quietly eliminates the psychotic butcher.

  • Winston Beldingford takes the Dirty Old Man trope to a disturbing extreme. An aristocrat with a severe Lack of Empathy, he kidnaps other people and hunts them down for sport. While Alistair is also complicit, his alcoholism makes him come across as more humorous and harmless. Winston is also a sexual deviant, forcing much younger women to sleep in the same bed as him and spying on them when they shower. He is also implied to be a Bad Boss, frequently firing the staff he doesn't sexually assault on a whim. Needless to say, demonstrating the power of a Vorpal Pillow on his ugly face is frequently seen as a highlight of the level.

  • Albert Fournier is a Dirty Cop who covered for Richard Delahunt and Alvaro D'alvade, two men running a child prostitution ring. Despite being able to get a shot on 47, he is too cowardly to finish the job, screaming orders at other officers as he hides behind his barricades, unwilling to risk his own life yet still reap the rewards for other's courage. A Dirty Coward who only incapacitates 47 by sheer luck, even the civilians don't seem to mind if he's strangled to death in front of them.

Blood Money

  • Scoop is the secondary target, and a far worse man than Joseph Clarence, who is both overcome with remorse and suffering from a years long Humiliation Conga. Taking over an abandoned amusement park and turning it into a drug lab, Scoop torments Clarence, breaking his trophy just to be mean to him. He also has no care for his employees, coldly executing one for letting 47 get into the park. Due to it being almost impossible to complete the level without turning the park into a graveyard, Scoop serves as a climax for 47's uncharacteristic massacre, providing an easy to hate bastard in contrast to the pitiful main target.

  • Alvaro D'Alvade is one of the only targets in the series to be both a child rapist and child murderer, a crime rare even with the high amount of depraved criminals in the series. Running a child trafficking ring with Richard Delahunt, D'Alvade rapes countless boys and girls, even arranging the death of a thirteen year old girl he raped before she could testify against him. If that wasn't bad enough, he's a prima donna who treats his fellow actors like trash, with many people hating him even before his crimes were revealed. While Delahunt's final moments border on Alas, Poor Villain, D'Alvade's execution is cruel, complicated, and poetic.

  • Chad Bingham Jr. is the son of a famous politician, and the Black Sheep of his family. A violent misogynist, Jr. takes his anger out on prostitutes, sometimes disfiguring them due to his attacks. After this violence leads to the death of one of them, he finds himself being blackmailed by her pimp, Lorne De Haviland. When 47 encounters him, he's belittling waiters, guests, and strippers alike, something that can fortunately be stopped by 47 permanantly putting an end to his abuse and violence.

Absolution

  • The King of Chinatown serves to demonstrate how unlikable the targets are going to be. As the self appointed king of chinatown, he's a gang leader who uses bribery and intimidation to get what he wants. A Smug Snake who thinks he's better than he is, he berates and harrasses everyone around him. Hostile, unpleasant and impressively sleazy, he sets the stage for the Darker and Edgier tone of the game, and is the perfect person to practice the level's many death traps on.

  • Benjamin Travis is the secondary villain and Final Boss of absolution, lacking all the charm and comedic moments Blake Dexter has. Determined with creating more assassins for the agency, Travis approves the experimentation of children, suffering them to horrific torture in order to shape them into killing machines. A Bad Boss to extreme levels, Travis throws all his employees at 47 in a desperate attempt to kill him, uncaring about all the innocent lives that are lost in these attacks and too stupid to realise that these actions jeopardise the secrecy of the ICA. When he's finally confronted by an enraged 47, he locks himself up inside a tomb, letting his men do the dirty work while he cowers for his life. He's a perfect example of how amoral the ICA can be and one of the few people 47 truly hated.

  • Edward Wade is the most depraved target in the game, and one of the vilest douchebags in the franchise. He spends his free time raping and murdering prostitutes when he isn't waiting for the chance to go on a killing spree. Taking the mentally handicapped Lenny Dexter with him on a mission, Wade proceeds to shoot up an orphange, with the children only being spared because they were on a field trip at the time. Threatening his own men to participate in sadistic violence under threat of death, he then goads Lenny into killing a nun, laughing manaically as he has a nervous breakdown due to the murder. If he manages to best 47 in a duel, he implies he wishes to rape his corpse, showing that he's a vile monster with nothing charming, likable, or sympathetic about him whatsoever.

  • Dominic Osmond is Blake Dexter's best friend and every bit as cruel as him. Running a strip club with an iron fist, he extorts sex out of the terrified prostitutes, torturing and raping anyone that refuses his advances. In order to fulfil his sadistic urges, he occasionally tortures women to death on camera, showing just how little he values human life. Along with his cruelty, he's also a cruel and unpleasant boss, insulting his employees and leering over them, believing himself to be entitled to their bodies due to their occupation.

  • Warren Ashford is Blake Dexter's top scientist, and the vilest out of the lot. Obsessed with genetically modifying humans regardless of the harm it inflicts on the test subjects, he has spent decades using children as guinea pigs, leaving them with deformaties and extreme physical and mental pain. When Victoria is brought to him, he jumps at the idea to perform tests on her, caring more about her abilities than her health or safety. While Green is too tragic to fully hate and Valentine is simply a Jerkass, Ashford shows himself to be fanatical, uncaring, and a belittling and hostile boss to his employees.

  • Sheriff Clive Skurky starts off as Laughably Evil before slowly sinking into this. Abusing his powers by locking up visitors over the smallest offences, he runs a Hellhole Prison where he forces inmates to fight each other for the amusement of him and his guards. He cares more about self gratification than the wellbeing of civilians and turns a blind eye on Blake Dexter's many crimes in exchange for heavy bribes. Running away when 47 breaks out of captivity, he takes an innocent priest hostage in a desperate last ditch effort to avoid being killed, showing nothing is too low for him.

HITMAN (2016)

  • Claus Hugo Strandberg is one of the most loathsome villains in the entire franchise and for good reason. Embezzling billions of dollars For the Evulz and then blaming his victims for being conned by him, he even defrauds his own daughter for a quick buck. When busted out of custody, he immediately retreats to an embassy, making himself comfortable and enjoying the luxuries while his victims cry out for justice. He's so unwelcome that half the embassy is openly wishing for his demise. He brags about his evil deeds to everyone within an earshot, even telling his victims "fuck you" in a boastful and remorseless interview. Underneath his charming exterior is a cold sociopath with the belief he's above the law, a mistake that 47 can thankfully fix.

  • Reza Zaydan is a target alongside Strandberg, and almost as hatable as the Morally Bankrupt Banker. Wanting power even at the cost of human lives, he murders several cops to break Strandberg out of prison, hoping to use the ensuing riots to stage a False Flag Operation terrorist attack in order to set up a coup, with the end goal being him as Morocco's dictator. During the level, he's a pompous braggart nowhere near as clever or capable as he sees himself, as well as a reprehensible excuse for a human, tormenting his former friend as he tortures him over a prolonged period of time. He's a perfect example of how merely being overshadowed by a bigger Hate Sink does little to stop him from dripping with comtempt whenever he rears his ugly head.

  • Marco Abiatti is a hedonistic and amoral politician who does little to distance himself from his many criminal connections. throwing Silvio Caruso down a well when they were children as well as verbally abusing the local priest Abiatti grew up to be even worse, wanting to evict everyone from Sapienza so he could turn it into a luxury resort. Threatening and abusing everyone who doesn't bend to his will, he even can murder the priest after he refuses to help Abiatti with his Evil Plan. A Smug Snake until the bitter end, Abiatti is a man that's easy to hate and cathartic to assassinate.

  • Oybek Nabazov is not only the most evil target in the entire series, but possibly even the most unlikable. Starting cults in order to bring in vunerable and needy people, he proceeds to drive them to suicide for little more than shits and giggles. Not content with simply murdering hundreds, he wishes to kill billions, merely to sate his obsession with death. While he initially seems like a charming and friendly man, this only serves to hide the fact that he's a sadistic psychopath who seeks to cause as much devastation as possible to the most helpless people. He's also a massive hypocrite, pathetically begging for his life as soon as he's at 47's mercy.

  • Sister Yulduz, is every bit as evil as Oybek, and unlikable for different yet equally strong reasons. A greedy opportunist hoping to use a genocide to fill her own pockets, she's merely supporting Nabazov's death cult for her own selfish ends, hoping to eliminate every last member once their work is done. If Nabazov is killed before her, she attempts to escape, only caring about her own safety and profit while being utterly devoid of loyalty or empathy.

  • Gabriel Santos is a Take That! of what a Gordan Ramsay knockoff would be like if they lacked his wit, charm, and decency. A violent perfectionist, Santos frequently attacks his own staff with meat cleavers and other sharp utensils, causing them to be terrified of his violent temper. He's also mean-spirited and needlessly cruel, being nothing more than a bully who is all cynicism and no substance.

  • Etta Davis is a nurse who murdered dozens of patients before fleeing after being a suspect in the murder of a famous politician. Unable to contain her bloodlust, she murders her own family and friends, gloating about her evil deeds to oblivious soldiers who she's forced to act as her personal bodyguards. Even worse, they're only helping her due to her supposedly being scared of the person who killed the headmaster coming after her, despite being his killer. A cruel sociopath, she calmly rants on and on to the soldiers, showing absolutely no empathy and a disturbing enjoyment for her actions. Selfish, sadistic, and utterly despicable, it's no wonder the soldiers can't stand her, as well as serving as an example of how the elderly can be just as hateable and evil as their juniors.

  • Richard J. Magee is as greedy and heartless as they come. A charismatic life coach, he gains the trust of his mentally ill clients before isolating them from people who could help them, draining them of their finances, and then leaving them to fend for themselves when he's done with them, moving onto another victim. Keith, his newest victim puts all his trust into Magee, and the bastard uses it to drive a wedge between him and his family, despite being aware of how concerned for and loving they are of him. Even his charisma does little to endear him, as he throws a tantrum when Keith's lawyer disrupts his plan, resorting to blatant manipulation and name calling to repair his wounded pride.

  • Wen Ts'ai is a person that if he was anyone else, his death would feel like Disproportionate Retribution. A food critic known for his unnecessary perfectionism, he once caused a restaurant to go bankrupt because their water was a few degrees too warm. While Santos had some love for his craft and was terrified of Ts'ai, Ts'ai seeks to belittle chefs in a way that goes far beyond what even the most notorious of Caustic critics would stoop to, and destroy the reputations and businesses of all those he "critiques" out of cynical spite rather than constructive criticism. He's a cruel and fearsome man with intense pessimism who refuses to eat the food that he's supposed to be critiquing while gorging himself on Jordan Cross' cake that wasn't for him to eat.

  • Mr. Phillip Giggles is a dark and depraved bastard in a total contrast to the goofy, humorous, and inept targets that appear after Ts'ai. A Mad Artist to the extreme, his shows involve torturing animals to death as they howl in pain or hosting gladiator rings for his ravenous audience. His idea of a joke is pretending to poison one of his assistants, who he sent on a task he himself had already completed. Racist, sadistic, and deranged, he's such a douche that Diana Burnwood of all people jokes about his fortunate demise when 47 puts an end to Mr Giggles' depraved legacy.

  • Isabella Caruso is Silvio Caruso's dead mother, and the reason he's so messed up in the first place. After her husband left her, she put all her attention into her two older sons, leaving the odd and awkward Silvio to fend for himself. When those two sons got tired of her behavior and ran away, she saw Silvio as someone to control, forcing him to be utterly dependent on her and sabotaging his chances at having a normal life, such as paying a neighbour's boy to seduce Silvio's first girlfriend, just so she could "teach" Silvio that only a mother's love endures. Silvio is such a Tragic Villain due to her actions that him trying to create a bioweapon is treated as his Start of Darkness and not him murdering her in her sleep, showing just how much of an Asshole Victim she was.

  • Dexy Barat is Jordan Cross' manager and blackmailer. Discovering the truth of Hannah Highmoore's death, she decided to use it to blackmail Jordan's father Thomas Cross rather than go to the police. Obstructing justice in order to make a profit, she manipulates the emotionally unstable Jordan by purposely driving a wedge between him and his father despite Thomas wishing to help his son to stop the blackmailing from continuing. Canonically getting away with her crimes, she proves herself to be a selfish and manipulative woman, exploiting tragedy and trauma that she herself contributed to if it fills her purse. Her crimes are incredibly minor for the series, yet her behavior is so despicable it makes her come across as far worse than most of the murderers, terrorists, and warlords that populate the franchise.

HITMAN II

  • Dawood Rangan, despite being extremely Laughably Evil, manages to be notorious for his odious behavior. He sabotages his own movies to claim insurance, uses dirty tactics to underpay his overworked employees, and tries to force an artist to work for exposure (for a painting that will only be displayed in his private house.) Not only that, he sexually extorts the lead actress of his movie, trying to force her to kiss him under threat of him ruining her life, sabotages sports games to rig bets, hijacks photo shoots so he can star in them, and threatens to murder the lead actor if they ever overshadow him. Somehow, he's so awful that these happen to be his least atrocious actions. His movies are based off his past as a ruthless pirate, meaning he profits off the suffering he contributed to. He also wishes to assassinate Vanya Shah due to wanting complete control over the Mumbai slums, and he has a man dangling off his balcony, who'll he'll happily murder once he's gotten bored of tormenting him. While Wazir Kale is a complex and likable villain and Shah is almost pitiful due to her insanity, Rangan is so unbelievably dickish that he almost subverts being a Hate Sink due to being such an extreme example.

  • Athena Savalas gives Claus Strandberg a run for his money for biggest bitch in the series. She's the head of the Milton-Fitzpatrick bank and she rules it with an iron fist, firing an employee for wearing a tacky shirt. She also cares little about her clients, using tiny loopholes to siphon their life savings and assets, seeing them as playthings she can loom over from the clock tower in her office. While it could be argued that her overdemanding parents contributed to what she became, it's clear that her narcissism, cruelty, and disregard for those less fortunate than her has removed what little sympathy she could otherwise have. She's so unpleasant that the fact she's embezzling funds for Providence is easily overshadowed by her despicable behavior.

  • Captain Lhom Kwai is a fanatical follower of the North Korean influenced Khandanyang. Accepting the propaganda that he was told, he sold out his own family, happily watching as they were executed. He went on to assist the Khandanyangan government in committing genocide, becoming one of the most notorious soldiers in the entire country. A psychopath with an Undying Loyalty to a brutal dictatorship, Kwai never needed to speak a word to show how loathsome he was.

  • Vitaly Reznikov runs a Hellhole Prison in the most cowardly way possible. Getting feared inmates to do his dirty work, he murders troublesome prisoners and subjects them to inhumane conditions, caring more about having power over human lives than rehabilitating the inmates. Too weak to enforce his brutal rule himself, he gives Roman Khabko free reign of the jail, allowing the mobster to become the unofficial enforcer of the jail. A weak and pathetic man with ambitions far greater than his ability, Reznikov more than earns a place on 47's contracts list.

  • Roman Khabko is a terrifying monster in a man's body. A Ukranian born sex trafficker and mass murderer, Khabko quickly rose to power in the jail he was imprisoned in. Murdering inmates for the tiniest provocations, he quickly became The Dreaded, subjecting people to his violent outbursts for little reason. If only him and Reznikov are in the same room, he quickly strangles the warden to death before planning to flee to another country, showing himself to be a hateful sack of garbage who merely killing is a reward of it's own.

  • Anthony L. Trout, already a massive Jerkass in the first game, is somehow even worse the second time around. Being responsible for a series of friendly fire incidents, he hopes to sweep that under the rug by running for office, with his fundamentalist and anti-intelluctualism rhetoric having gone out of style over half a century ago. In the Retcon, it's revealed he uses Richard Magee to drive his political opponents to suicide in order to remove the competition, revealing just how little he values the lives of others. Crimes aside, he's an obnoxious idiot who is rude, crass, and racist to the villa staff who are nothing but hospitable to him.

  • Richard J. Magee, already a Hate Sink in his first appearance, is even more of a dick this time around. Now willing to actively drive his clients to suicide, he is far more complicit in the downwards spiral of his victims, with that as his main goal instead of just heartless greed. Magee is a perfect example that the sky is the limit when it comes to unlikability, as it's entirely possible to be even worse in his second outing.

  • Miranda Jamison is pretty much Wen Ts'ai if he was an art appraiser. Rigging prices in order to reap the rewards, her actions have driven many to suicide due to her coldly sabotaging their hard work. She quickly shows that she only values her own wellbeing, looking down on those who aren't as sophisticated or respectable as she sees herself to be. She's incredibly condescending, classist, and insufferable, being designed to get on the player's nerves as much as possible.

  • Joseph Gorski, aka The Censor is absurdly unpleasant. A serial killer who desires control over his victim's final moments, he kills mainly to reinforce his superiority complex, being so smug as to grade their struggles against his torture devices and blaming them for not putting up a good enough fight against him in which they had no way to overpower him. Encountered hinting at his plans to torture and murder the partygoers of Whittleton creek, he comes across just as creepy and pathetic as he does menacing. A Smug Snake of the highest caliber, it's made clear there's nothing cool, charming, or redeemable about him, and unlike Nabazov who was at least committed to his heinous idealogy, Gorski's worldview is just as broken as he is.

HITMAN III

  • Hush is a far cry from the honorable, affable, and well intentioned targets that have come before him. A textbook Mad Scientist, he dabbles in whatever allows him to inflict the most pain on his hapless victims. Previously being an advisor to the Khandanyangan government, as well as a human trafficker and organ harvester, Hush now works for the ICA in order to create new soldiers. This turns out to be far from his true motivation, as he uses the funds he has given to experiment on the homeless, turning them into mindless husks while he indulges in his fantasies of having godlike powers over other humans. A narcissist with no morals or limits, Hush is a psychotic weirdo beneath his Soft-Spoken Sadist shell and his crimes and actions serve to make him as unsympathetic as possible. While there's some charm and intrique around Imogen Royce, Hush exists to fill in the obigatory mad scientist role and outdo them in terms of awfulness.

  • Sully Bowden is the only elusive target without any likable or endearing traits whatsoever (as Philo Newcombe and Terrence Chesterfield are too goofy to count.) A boxer who lives for the violence, he enjoys killing and maiming his opponents, having no care for who they are outside of the ring. His Unstoppable Rage is easily triggered and despite the odd comedic moment, he's so brutish and antagonistic that you're actually rewarded with a unique scenario for beating him in a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown. Unsophisticated and unpleasant, he dwarfs almost all elusive targets in terms of sheer unlikability.
