"Where am I? "

The Heroine. Before the game began, Tsumugi was a high school Master Swordsman in the 21st century. She finds herself in the Sengoku period and allies herself with three kunoichi to defeat Oda Nobunaga.

  • A-Cup Angst: During her first Bubble Encounter with Hagana, she expresses jealousy over how big Hagana's boobs are compared to her own.
  • Alliterative Name: T sumugi T amaori.
  • Big Eater: Tsumugi eats quite a lot and uses her sword training to keep off the pounds.
  • Chick Magnet: Over the course of the game, even without the Album events, Tsumugi handily charms Iyo, Komimi and Hagane to her side without really trying.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Her profile notes that she’s popular with others but is unaware of it.
  • Idiot Hair: Tsumugi has a very prominent ahoge, but does not seem particularly unintelligent.
  • Heir to the Dojo: Tsumugi’s swordplay is so skilled that it is a given that she will succeed her grandfather in his dojo. Somewhat deconstructed, as Tsumugi notes that said dojo hasn't had any students in a long time, so she would have to work to find students.
  • The Heroine: Tsumugi Tamaori serves as the Audience Surrogate as well as The Protagonist for this game.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Tsumugi’s weapon is a katana.
  • Luminescent Blush: Tsumugi blushes when she performs the Devoted Heart technique with Komimi and Hagane in the trailer.
  • Master Swordsman: Tsumugi was already one before being sent back in time.
  • Mundane Utility: Tsumugi uses her sword training as a dieting method.
  • Oblivious to Love: At least according to her profile she is.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: Before the events of the game, Tsumugi was just a schoolgirl.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: Tsumugi’s Sailor Fuku serves as her main outfit.
  • Sailor Fuku: This appears to be her Iconic Outfit.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Her profile specifies that she prefers crepes above all else.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The history book that she accidentally brought with her when she traveled back in time is what convinced Nobunaga to become the Demon Lord after her learned about his death and all the wars that the world suffers over the centuries.

"I can do anything if it’s for Tsumugi Onee-sama! "

Already living in the Sengoku period, Iyo joins Tsumugi’s Battle Harem and takes up the fight against the Demon Lord.

  • Broken Pedestal: Towards Nobunaga once he decides to fuse with the Demon Lord and she starts questioning her view of him as a heroic, benevolent, if eccentric leader who only wants what's best for the world.
  • Cartoon Bomb: She's capable of carrying two different varieties of them. First she gets time bombs, which explode a short time after being placed, then she gets contact bombs that explode after being struck by an attack or thrown by Komimi.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She was orphaned by the constant fighting of the Sengoku Period, her parents being killed and her village razed until Nobunaga stumbles upon her and adopts her to become part of his ninjas.
  • First-Name Basis: Iyo calls Tsumugi “Tsumugi Onee-sama.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Iyo has low self-esteem despite her talents.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: Iyo already visually stands out, but on top of that she cannot mask her presence well.
  • Irony: Despite being a ninja, Iyo is bad at stealth.
  • Japanese Honorifics: Onee-sama can be an extremely formal way to refer to one’s older sister, but in this it is used to address an older woman you very much respect.
  • Ninja: She is a Sengoku era kunoichi.
  • Red Is Heroic: Iyo is garbed in mostly red and fights alongside the other heroes.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Iyo is adorned in a sizable scarf and is no slouch in combat.
  • Walking Armory: Iyo is covered in hidden bombs, ninja tools, and kunai. Though she can only stock a handful of them per mission, their sheer size when deployed makes you wonder how she ever stores them so discreetly.

"I do adore girls who can express their feelings so openly."

Hagane is another kunoichi, sent from a highly technologically-advanced parallel dimension to Iyo's world in order to prevent the resurrection of the Demon Lord. Aside from offering her cybernetics to aid in combat and traversal, Hagane also offers advice, emotional support, and pampering as the team's Cool Big Sis.

  • Artificial Limbs: Has this on her right arm, bionically weaponized and bigger than her other arm. Not only can it be used as a grappling hook to be able to move herself and Tsugumi across gaps, but can also be used as an Arm Cannon.
  • Artificial Limbs Are Stronger: Hagane’s arm is definitely an upgrade from a human one.
  • Bridal Carry: Hagane carries Tsumugi like this while swinging with her arm at one point.
  • Cool Big Sis: Hagane strongly gives off this impression. During her private conversations with Komimi later in the game, she explicitly says she's satisfied playing the role of an older woman who guides and supports the younger Tsumugi.
  • Cyborg: Hagane has a visibly metal arm and drinks oil. She also mentions that many other parts of her have been replaced to be mechanical.
  • The Cynic: Hagane is not an optimistic person. This is because her world have predictive algorithms so advanced they can basically accurately predict the future and the entire society is based around mitigating the effects of these inevitable events, such as preemptively transforming someone into a cyborg before organs start to fail or become diseased.
  • Eating Machine: Hagane can consume food and prefers oil. She's also quite the cook, despite the limited selection of ingredients in the underworld.
  • Extendable Arms: Hagane can extend her arm great distances, both in battle and to move around.
  • Frothy Mugs of Water: Though Hagane explicitly, literally consumes oil, because she's part machine, the game and dialog treats it no differently than her being addicted to alcohol. Tsumugi is shocked at how much Hagane can consume in a single sitting, Hagane uses it to cope with the stress of her job (similar to an alcohol addiction in real life), and she mentions waking up at noon everyday due to drinking the whole night, and then going straight back to drinking after she's awake.
  • Good Prosthetic, Evil Prosthetic: Hagane is an example of “Good Prosthetic”, using her prosthetic arm for good by assisting Tsumugi in her quest to prevent the resurrection of the Demon Lord and the subsequent destruction of Io's world and the parallel worlds that rely on it as a foundation.
  • Hidden Depths: Underneath her mature and slightly playful demeanor lies a cynical and jaded heart.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: As Tsumugi's action begins to change Hagane's cynical, fatalistic outlook in life, Hagane starts to fall in love with Tsumugi but, realizing that Tsumugi will likely have to return to her original timeline and they can never exist in the same plane, satisfies herself with playing the older sister and never telling anyone except Komimi about the truth of her feelings. While Hagane does kiss her for their ultimate Devoted Heart technique, it's not as explicit of a declaration of love as it is with Iyo and Tsumugi.
  • Kimono Fanservice: Hagane’s kimono is not at all modest. Kenshin particularly chides her about it, calling her a promiscuous woman with dubious morals whose outside matches her insides.
  • Lady Drunk: Due to the stresses of being an overworked, underappreciated cyborg ninja who always gets her budget requests denied by her employers, Hagane has taken to consuming vast sums of oil, which is analogous to alcohol. She often talks about waking up every day around noon because she'd been too busy drinking the entire night, then goes right back to drinking even more in the afternoon, which makes the use of Frothy Mugs of Water very blatant and barely disguises her substance addiction. If you perform exceptionally well in combat and get an S-rank, Hagane gleefully mentions celebrating with "vintage oil" much like how someone would bust out vintage wine to commemorate a special occasion.
  • Luminescent Blush: Averted. She is the only one not to blush when using the Devoted Heart technique in the trailer. This is likely due to her grown-up personality.
  • Shock and Awe: Hagane can electrify her arm to augment her attacks. She can either extend her arm and electrify the cable, or smash down in an area and call down lightning bolts around her for incredible damage.
  • Team Chef: Downplayed. She only cooks for Tsumugi once in the game, but with the questionable ingredients of the Underworld, Hagane proves she wasn't lying when she said she wasn't a professional chef but did know her way around a kitchen.
  • Third-Person Person: She often refers to herself as Onee-san in the Japanese dialog.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hagane is noted to specifically like oil. The game treats is as no different than alcohol, as in the safe-to-drink ethanol.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: When Tsumugi's smartphone inevitably runs out of battery, Hagane manages to recharge it by doing some intense exercise, raising her core temperature, then sticking the phone into her cleavage whereupon it successfully wirelessly recharges. One has to assume her mechanical arm just has too strong a voltage for delicate devices.
  • You Can't Fight Fate: Hagane believes so. Her universe has created a "fortune teller" of sorts that analyzes data to completely accurately predict the future, up till the point of what diseases someone will contract and the affected organs will be replaced preemptively with cyborg replacements before they have to suffer. After seeing how far Tsumugi will go to fight fate and change what Hagane's people believe to be immutable pasts and subsequent futures, Hagane begins to have hope for the future again.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: She can grab a human-sized enemy and pull them to her with her Ninja Skill, though this doesn't have much practical use.

    Komimi

"I’ll show you my Onmyōji!"

A kunoichi who has fox ears and a tail, thanks to her Divine Beast ancestry. According to herself, she can perform Onmyōji, casts spells on Tsumugi to enhance her abilities, and is generally a wellspring of knowledge about the Underworld and the supernatural. Komimi joins Tsumugi’s fight against the Demon Lord in order to claim his head for unknown reasons.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Born a rare prodigy in intelligence and power, an existence that's only once in every few thousand years, Komimi quickly found herself in the midst of a brutal power struggle in her clan that ended up distancing her from her family and any potential friends. Ultimately, she was passed on the a shinobi branch family to get her away from the power struggles and potential assassinations, though Komimi only realizes all of this in hindsight after finally meeting Tsumugi and having someone who empathizes with her loneliness and desire to belong.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Komimi is noted to a technological genius.
  • Glacier Waif: Komimi easily wields a hammer larger than herself.
  • Famous Ancestor: In her timeline, she is descended from the Divine Beast Tamamo-no-Mae, as evidenced by her fox ears and tail.
  • Friendless Background: Because she was so much more advanced, skilled, and intelligent than her peers, everyone ended up distancing themselves from her or being distanced from Komimi so she could better focus on her studies. While Komimi claims that it was all for the better, it's very easy to see past the strong, mature, aloof facade she puts up.
  • An Ice Person: Komimi can encase her hammer in an icy air. Later, she can also spin it around and create an icy tornado.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Komimi has a fox’s ears and a tail. These are a result of her descending from Tamamo-no-Mae, a fox Divine Beast.
  • Luminescent Blush: She blushes when she and Tsumugi perform the Devoted Heart technique.
  • No Sense of Direction: Without someone else, Komimi will quickly become lost. Hagane notes that Komimi was almost in tears at Honno-ji and if Hagane hadn't run into her then, she probably would have never met up with the others. This is also the in-universe justification of why Komimi is the last party member to be recruited after they get separated entering the Underworld.
  • No Social Skills: Komimi can come across as arrogant despite meaning well
  • Overly Long Name: Komimi Misakino Koya Hime Okasuga. There's a very good reason everyone is on a First-Name Basis with her.
  • Parental Abandonment: As a result of her incredible intelligence and skill that far surpassed her siblings and her parents were ill-equipped to deal with, Komimi's entire family ended up disowning her and leaving her with a temple that could better train her incredible magical capability. Komimi only realizes later on that they were just trying to protect her from the brutal power struggles of the clan, who wanted her to become the new head against the original succession order thanks to her incredible intelligence and power.
  • Pint-Size Powerhouse: She's the smallest of the protagonists and physically the strongest, able to lift and throw objects larger than she is with ease as well as swinging around her massive hammer.
  • Punny Name: “Mimi” translates into “ears”, which references her extremely prominent fox ears.
  • Science Wizard: Komimi is both a master of Onmyōji and a scientific powerhouse. Her specialty is in the Underworld and other parallel dimensions, specifically the prevention of any serious, world-ending anomalies like the Demon Lord reviving. She also is the one who casts or informs Tsumugi about spells and other supernatural goings on in the game.
  • Sweet Tooth: She adores sweets and carries a massive trove of them wherever she goes. One of Komimi's Album events is Tsumugi failing to pass her training but Komimi sneaking sweets into her pockets anyway, as a show of camaraderie to a fellow sweets-enthusiast.
  • Token Non-Human: No other character seen so far is Little Bit Beastly. Komimi explains this as her parallel dimension having Divine Beasts, sacred animals akin to gods who granted their descendants these animal features.

"Have you grown tired of living?"

The Uesugi Kenshin.

  • Animal Motifs: Kenshin is associated with dragons and utilizes them in her attacks.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Kenshin is... dense. She seeks to stop the Demon Lord from being freed, but she isn't all there upstairs and makes up nonsense reasons about Tsumugi and the others are trying to free him (like deciding that Hagane wants the Demon Lord to wake her up in the morning) while refusing to listen to their protests that they're trying to stop the Demon Lord from being awoken. Komimi explains that it's a side effect of her having died with a strong enough obsession that her soul remained in order to continue seeking it.
  • Historical Gender Flip: Kenshin was a man in real life, but a promotional trailer (jokingly) states that this game is actually the accurate representation of the warlord.
  • Red Baron: Uesugi is well known as “The Dragon of Echigo” .

  • Red Baron: Is famously known as “The Tiger of Kai” .
  • Third-Person Person: Shingen refers to herself as Shingen-chan, as especially female, children do in Japan to sound cute.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Shingen has the appearance of a child and behaves accordingly.
