Emblem of the Deadmans

A demon-worshipping cult that seeks to bring out the inner demons of humans to life through the power of the mysterious Vistamps, turning them into monsters known as Deadman. Their ultimate goal is to revive the great ancestor of all demons, Giff.

    In General
  • Brains and Brawn: Julio is the enforcer, Orteca is the schemer, and Aguilera is neither.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist:
    • The Megid were very loosely organized, led by a group of three and summoned their monsters from books until a point where they were able to turn humans into monsters. The Deadmans meanwhile have a clear hierarchy and create their monsters from humans.
    • They are the stark contrast to another cult from the Showa era, the Gorgom. While Gorgom were an Ancient Conspiracy embedded in the upper echelons of Japanese society, with many powerful elites and other influential figures as members, the Deadmans are a much more subversive organization formed in modern times that primarily recruits social outcasts. Gorgom mainly relied on ancient Magitek to accomplish their goals, while the Deadmans mostly use Vistamps and other tools developed in their contemporary times. Gorgom also revered their Creation King as a god, while the Deadmans outright consider themselves devil worshippers and submit to Giff because they hold him to be the ancestor of all demons.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: The Deadmans are the main antagonists for the first half of the series, but they're finished off in #28 with the death of Orteca, allowing Giff himself to step up as the main antagonist. Their founder continues their operations within FENIX while their enforcers either defected to WEEKEND or got devoured by Giff.
  • Enemy Civil War: Following Orteca's attempt to sacrifice Aguilera to reawaken Giff, a split occurs in the Deadmans, with Orteca taking the reigns of most of the cult's followers and Aguilera and Julio going off on their own.
  • Evil Is Visceral: Most of the Phase 2 and Gifftex Deadmen have a body part/organ motif.
  • Evil Minions: The hooded worshippers who form most of the cult's low-level followers don't fight, but instead help with things like the preparations for Aguilera's wedding ceremony or by being hosts for Giff Juniors.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: The Proto Vistamps used by the cult have a deep, distorted voice.
  • Evil Wears Black: Aside from the three executives, the cult's official attire is a black cloak and monk/nun's habit.
  • Evilutionary Biologist: Their goals appear to have something to do with this. Both Aguilera and Orteca express the belief that Giff can be used to help humans evolve.
  • Four Is Death:
    • At the start of the series, the Deadmans have two of the "Gifftex" Deadman they need to revive Giff, leaving them four more to find.
    • The Deadmans also have four active members at the start of the show - Aguilera, Orteca, Julio and the Chameleon Deadman (disguised as Yujiro Wakabayashi, though this isn't revealed until later).
  • The Hedonist: They seem to preach this along with a strong dash of Straw Nihilism as a way of attracting followers. The gathering of cultists seen in #1 is essentially just a rave with demon summoning included.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: Due to how widespread the cult is, most of their members blend into society as "ordinary" citizens, while secretly using their jobs and businesses to provide support for their generals behind the scenes.
  • Homage: As a Terrible Trio comprised of a red-wearing female leader, a green-wearing Evil Genius and a blue-wearing Brute who answer to an unseen authority, the executives are a much more sinister take on the Doronbo Gang from Yatterman and other similar trios in Time Bokan.
  • Law of Chromatic Superiority: Being a Deadmans executive earns you your very own bright and uniquely-colored uniform, in contrast to the black hoods the regular members of the cult wear.
  • Leitmotif: "Gracias, Deadmans!", a sinister guitar-flute melody.
  • Mook Maker: The Giff Junior Stamps the executives carry can be used to create Giff Juniors from people, or summon a whole horde of them at once by tapping the ground.
  • Mythology Gag: Their generals are all themed after the Shocker executives from the original Kamen Rider series in some way.
  • Nebulous Evil Organisation: They're an underground cult of nebulously wide scope who create monsters in the name of mysterious plans revolving around an ancient demon god.
  • Religion of Evil: They worship an ancient god of demons and seek to bring about his return through awakening humans' own inner demons.
  • Renegade Splinter Faction: As revealed in #26, they used to be part of Noah, a government organization researching demons. However, sometime after Junpei and Masumi deserted the organization, they ran off with Giff's casket and began worshipping it.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: Every executive member represents one.
    • Envy: The Chameleon Deadman, uses his powers to steal the identity of Yujiro Wakabayashi because he dislikes his own actual appearance.
    • Greed: Amahiko Haitani, who joined the Deadmans purely to obtain more power for himself.
    • Sloth: Yasushi Kudo, who dislikes hard work and uses his Deadman powers to cheat at his career as a lawyer.
    • Lust: Aguilera, who is devoted to Giff and seeks to marry him.
    • Pride: Orteca, who views himself as superior to those around him and believes the world is his.
    • Wrath: Julio, the most passionate executive and the one quickest to anger which eventually leads to him assuming his Riot form.
    • Gluttony: Giff, who grows more powerful and closer to reawakening by devouring others.
    • The eighth sin, Despair, is held by the Deadmans founder, Hideo Akaishi, who became Giff's follower after coming to believe it was hopeless to oppose him.
  • Sigil Spam: Somewhat invoked since their symbol is on the stamps they use, so they effectively have to spam it to summon their Mooks and monsters. Their emblem is also plastered in and around their lair, and can be seen on the gem inside Giff's casket.
  • Standard Evil Organization Squad: Aguilera and her two lieutenants, who are the main lineup of villains our heroes have to contend with. Later joined by the Chameleon Deadman for a bit.
  • Supervillain Lair:
    • A saucer-shaped secret base that seems to be located underground, accessible via a secret portal found in a nightclub above-ground. #15 reveals that it's some sort of Flying Saucer that can sprout tentacles to attack.
    • After it gets destroyed, Orteca seems to have gotten a new hideout in the form of a storage room full of featureless white mannequins.

Progenitor of Demons

The lord and ancestor of all demons. His revival is said to be the main goal of the Deadmans.
  • Ancient Astronauts: Giff isn't from Earth originally and only arrived on the planet in the distant past.
  • Ancient Evil: Giff was discovered amidst ancient ruins in South America. Given how he's old enough to have given Akaishi his immortality, who claims to have lived around the time humanity first evolved into being, Giff must be hundreds of thousands of years old, at the very least.
  • Big Bad: He is the lord of all demons, and his plan is to ultimately recreate the entire human race as livestock to make more demons for his consumption. As such, he is for all intents and purposes the series' main antagonist.
  • Bright Is Not Good: Contrary to what one might expect from a demon god, Giff's true form is predominantly bright gold.
  • Combat Tentacles: Can manifest energy tendrils that can take the shape of hands.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To Storious. Both are The Man Behind the Man and ancient beings who are responsible for the birth of the monsters of their respective series. However, while Storious was a human from Earth who turned into a Megid after going into Wonder World as a devoted follower of the woman who connected the worlds, Giff is an extraterrestrial being who invaded Earth and had a cult formed around him. Storious became The Fatalist after he Goes Mad From Revelation from reading the Great Book and wants to destroy the world, Giff wants to Take Over the World in order to turn humanity into a People Farms.
  • Dark Messiah: A few, including Akaishi, believe Giff to be a being who can ultimately save the human race by reigning over them.
  • Deal with the Devil: Becoming a Gifftex involves making a contract with Giff in exchange for greater power and the ability to transform back and forth between human and Deadman form. The trade off, however, is if defeated, Giff absorbs them unless Volcano Rex's Finishing Move is used.
  • Devour the Dragon: Absorbs each of the Gifftex linked to him and Gifftarians upon their defeats. This includes Orteca after his final defeat.
  • Dimension Lord: Giff seems to control his own pocket dimension, and is capable of creating portals from it to speak to his followers.
  • Eldritch Abomination: A vaguely-humanoid being of as-of-yet unknown origin, with the power to bring humans' literal inner demons to the material plane.
  • Emotion Eater: He consumes negative emotional energy, which can be generated from humans in solid form as their "demons". As such his ultimate goal is to make Earth a submissive People Farm for them to generate an endless supply of demons for his consumption.
  • Fangs Are Evil: His true appearance has the skull of a Giff Junior, but has large tusks coming from where the two holes on the sides of the jaw would be.
  • Final Boss: Although Giff is killed off four episodes before the finale, he's the last serious threat the Riders face. Juuga's rampage only lasts for two episodes and is quickly put down, and Vice's final battle with Ikki is deliberately underwhelming since he wants Ikki to defeat him.
  • Flat Character: There isn't much more to him than being a Big Bad the Kamen Riders have to overcome. This is largely because he spends half of the series in a dormant state and when he does awaken, he doesn't have many meaningful interactions with other characters, as Akaishi and Vail do most of the villainous deeds instead.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Giff spends the first half of the series dormant, with his followers running things and leading the charge in his place. He's fully awakened in #28, but initially chooses to stay inside his own world and let Akaishi handle setting things up for his introduction and takeover of human society. Whenever Giff does intervene, it's to provide some force for Akaishi's plans. As of #43 however, Giff has stopped staying on the sidelines and directly become the Big Bad now that Akaishi is dead.
  • He Who Must Not Be Heard: He technically does speak, but in grunts and growls that aren't intelligible to the audience. His voice is eventually heard in #44 when he is talking to Vice, presumably in the demons' language.
  • Hero Killer: Aside from many named characters that end up being absorbed by him, in one episode alone, he effortlessly manages to destroy most, if not all of FENIX by disintegrating a whole group of soldiers, knock out the Riders into their untransformed states, blow up and crash the Skybase, all without actually moving from where he was standing, successfully proving how outmatched everyone still is at this point.
  • Homage: His casket's appearance is reminiscent of the speakers the Great Leader communicates through.
  • Invisible to Normals: When unleashed from his casket, it's implied that those related to Giff can only see him, as seen in #31 where Akemi, who is completely unaffilated with him, sees Akaishi supposedly talking to himself, when in actuality, he's having a conversation with Giff.
  • King Mook: His true appearance resembles a flamboyant and shiny-dressed Giff Junior.
  • Knight Templar: Believes humans to be naturally violent and chaotic, and that they need to be either ruled over or completely eradicted for there to be peace.
  • Last Words: In response to the Igarashis' riposte, before being Rider Kicked into oblivion in #46:
"Then you'd best not forget... mankind will always repeat its mistakes, time and time again!"
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Or rather, "Igarashi Siblings, I Am Your Ancestor" (well actually, he's their grandfather of a sort, since Vail is technically Giff's son); #25 reveals that Giff's cells were injected into Genta's heart, passing his genes on to them.
  • Made of Iron: Giff's casket seems to be virtually impenetrable, to the point where not even heavy arms fire can penetrate it, as seen in #26.
  • Maou the Demon King: The progenitor of the demons in the show, and one bent on dominating and ruling over humankind.
  • Meaningful Name: Giff is pronounced Gifū, which means "foster father" or "stepfather" in Japanese; this fits with the Deadmans cult referring to its members as Giff's family. #25 reveals the Igarashi siblings also inherited his genes, making Giff their father as well.
  • Monster Progenitor: Said to be the ancestor of all demons. It's eventually revealed his cells were infused into Genta/Junpei, making the Igarashi siblings and their respective demons his progeny. The Giff Stamp was also the basis for the Vistamps, which are used to call forth the Deadmen, and can be used to turn people into Gifftarians. And once he's unsealed, Giff can use the Giff Stamp on himself to create even stronger Gifftarians. He can also bestow his power onto specially selected humans and transform into monsters called Giffdemos.
  • Mook Maker: #43 shows he's capable of summoning dozens of Giff Juniors and Gifftarians at once.
  • Orcus on His Throne: For an initially unexplained reason, after his resurrection Giff has done little more than stand in his pocket dimension while occasionally receiving updates from his chief follower. Even George is surprised Giff hasn't made a move. We eventually learn the reason why: Akaishi wanted to televise his introduction and show him destroying Fenix, in order to push humanity past the Despair Event Horizon so they'll willingly subordinate themselves to him. He finally gets off his throne in #43.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Of a very different sort than the Deadmen or the inner demons of the Igarashi siblings. Giff exists entirely independent of any human hosts and is able to birth other demons from himself. Akaishi implies in #38 that Giff isn't a demon so much as an entity that ancient humans labeled as one due to having no other way to describe him, and in #41 he outright states Giff is an alien.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes glow red whenever he unleashes his powers.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He's imprisoned in a casket and reviving him is the entire goal of the Deadmans. They succeed in #28.
  • Spikes of Villainy: His casket has four jagged, screw-like horns sprouting out of the top.
  • Tragic Villain: Possibly. Akaishi seems to imply in #38 that Giff originally sought peaceful coexistence with humankind, only to be labeled as a devil and driven away.
  • Ultimate Lifeform: The Deadmans Founder and Aguilera describe Giff as a lifeform that will lead humanity to its next stage of evolution.
  • We Can Rule Together: As the Igarashi family shares his genes and are thus his kin, he offers them a place by his side in his planned new world order.
  • You Have Failed Me: Somewhat. If a candidate that Giff deems unworthy to become a Gifftex is put in front of him, Giff disintegrates them. He also absorbs Haitani, Kudo, and the Chameleon Deadman after their defeats.
  • You Killed My Father: He was the culprit behind the genocide of Baridero and Izangi's civilization, which leads them to target his descendants.

    Deadmans Founder
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deadmans_founder_ep20.png
The mysterious founder and leader of the Deadmans cult.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: If you pause while the camera flashes close to his face and look closely, you'll notice his chin looks a lot like Hideo Akaishi's. This is because he is Hideo Akaishi.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: He only appeared in one flashback prior to his true identity being revealed and he has yet to step out of the shadows in front of the heroes. His true identity and plans for Giff's casket aren't revealed until later on.
  • In the Hood: As with the regular members of the cult, he wears a black hood over his head.

Queen Bee!

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Non-lethal example in #16. She's left sobbing after Giff is seemingly destroyed and gets coldly thrown under the bus by Orteca, and this comes after the revelation she was groomed from childhood to be a sacrifice for Giff and doesn't have a true idea of what happiness is outside of that. Poor girl...
  • All for Nothing: Groomed from childhood to become Giff's wife, as an adult Aguilera learns that she's actually intended to be his sacrifice, and before she can be sacrificed the ritual is stopped by the Kamen Riders. In a fury, she uses a Proto Vistamp to become a Phase 3 Deadman, but this taints her soul and makes her unworthy to become a sacrifice to Giff, leading him to swat her away when she offers herself to him in #28.
  • The Alleged Boss: Acts more like a bratty teenager as opposed to a cult leader, with Orteca and others in the cult being the ones who direct things most of the time. Makes more sense when she turns out to be just a figurehead.
  • Ambiguously Human: It's initially unclear if she's human or a demon in human form like her subordinates, though the way she talks about "humans" implies the latter. #15 confirms that she is the former, as the ritual to revive Giff requires an "untainted vessel of evil", though that changes in #16 when she becomes a Gifftex.
  • The Atoner: Joins Weekend to make up for the sins she committed as a Deadmans member.
  • Bee Afraid: Her Deadman form has honeycomb patterns covering her right leg, with her "hair" resembling dripping honey.
  • Beehive Barrier: Has the ability to create protective barriers as the Queen Bee Deadman.
  • Bitch Slap: Her preferred method of showing displeasure if the offender is in arm's reach. As Julio or Sakura can attest to, it's basically a megaton slap. She ends up on the receiving end of one herself in #28, courtesy of Giff.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: On account of being raised by a cult, Aguilera has a very warped worldview. She cares for little else other than herself and Giff, wants people she likes to become sacrifices for her and claims to be happy without understanding what that really means.
  • Clark Kenting: Her disguise in #8 amounts to a different hairstyle and pair of glasses. Even though our main cast have encountered her in civilian clothes once before, no one finds anything suspicious about her apart from Vice.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She is hellbent on not allowing anyone to even touch Giff, as shown by how she intercepts Orteca before he can get too close.
  • Commonality Connection: She grows closer with Julio after learning his reason for joining the Deadmans, remarking that because she was betrayed by Orteca the two have something in common.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Both Aguilera and Reika Shindai/Kamen Rider Sabela are skilled Action Girls with a insect motif and originally antagonistic towards one of the heroes before joining them later in their respective shows. While Reika was fiercely devoted to her big brother and sought to prove herself strong to him, she was also initially devoted towards Isaac/Master Logos due to her initial animosity towards Touma Kamiyama until Isaac's true colors were brought to light, whereas Aguilera was indoctrinated by the Deadmans under the belief of becoming Giff's bride (whom she swore loyalty to) and serves herself as a rival to Sakura until she became disillusioned after Giff rejected her upon his revival.
  • Cooldown Hug: She's on the receiving end of one from Sakura after she saves her by voiding her Deadman contract. She repays the favor by hugging Sakura in #40 when she's upset following Daiji's betrayal.
  • Cute and Psycho: She's rather cute-looking at first glance, but this hides the fact that she's a fanatical demon-worshipper whose goal is to spread chaos through the world.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: After leaving the Deadmans and turning good, she joins Weekend and gets a black uniform.
  • De-power: Loses her Queen Bee Deadman power after Sakura destroys her contract in #33. Her Weekend Driver is also irreparably damaged by George as Juuga in #47.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She mellows out more after leaving the Deadmans and having only Julio/Tamaki to keep her company. After having her Deadman contracted nullified and joining Weekend, she basically becomes a normal girl.
  • Demoted to Dragon: After a brief stint as her own player, she throws her lot in with Orteca once again as he's the one working to revive Giff still. Though she sees them both as equals and claims not to take orders from him.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Her suffering this after the loss of her place in the Deadmans is the focus of #32-33, to the point she decides her final goal is to Face Death with Dignity at Sakura's hands. While Sakura takes Aguilera up on the fight, she chooses to break Aguilera's contract instead, and the resulting De-power plus Sakura's unwavering support lead Aguilera to find a new purpose as a member of Weekend.
  • Discard and Draw: Not long after having her Deadman contract voided, she gains the Week Endriver and uses it to transform into Kamen Rider Aguilera.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Juuga VS Orteca gives her the chance to get some payback against Orteca. She starts by revealing that his two new followers are really her plants right before giving his arm a painful twist and sending him running in a panic.
  • Easily Forgiven: Even though she was the Deadmans' "Queen of Evil" and led attacks for them not long before, she goes completely unpunished after Sakura redeems her. It's a justified case in that making her face accountability for her crimes would mean turning her over to Fenix and Akaishi in particular. Besides that, Hana has completely renounced her allegiance to the Deadmans and desires to atone, which she can't do as a captive of Fenix. However, when she and Tamaki confront and capture Orteca in #45, Hana specifically states that she intends to avert this trope by turning herself over to the authorities once everything is over. Thankfully, she doesn't end up doing so (though she nearly does, but is halted in her tracks by a rampaging Juuga), and instead gets to fully start over in Daiji's rebranded Fenix, the Blue Bird Organization, along with him, Tamaki, and Hiromi.
  • Enemy Mine:
    • She sides with Ikki and Sakura in #20 in order to gain their help in taking the Giff Stamp from Orteca.
    • In #22 however, she sides with Orteca after Sakura steals the Giff Stamp from her. Even Orteca is surprised by this development.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: She clearly feels betrayed when Sakura steals the Giff Stamp from her in #21.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones:
    • Even if she usually abuses him a lot, she truly cares for Julio/Tamaki, best shown when she saved him from Orteca's attack and tried to cheer him up in #18, even though he's been de-powered and isn't of much use to her anymore. She even goes so far as to fire him in #23 in order to protect him, as she knew he would go straight to Sakura for help.
    • While she loves Giff above all else, she can't stand seeing other cultists being turned into Gifftarians and dying, begging Orteca to stop even when it's clear he won't.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She is appalled by Orteca casually turning Kanae into a Gifftarian and him continuing to do so to other loyal worshippers sickens her to the point of begging him to stop.
  • Evil Is Petty: She goes against Kagero's intentions simply because she refuses to take orders from anyone, especially not if they annoy the heck out of her like he does. This habit of hers actually makes Julio and Orteca fear for her safety.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She comes off as cute and polite at first glance, but is relentless and ruthless both in her devotion to Giff and her willingness to force people out of her way.
  • Foil: Aguilera eventually becomes this to Hideo Akaishi over the course of her character arc. They both start out unshakably loyal to Giff, and Giff in turn eventually abandons them both; Aguilera, ultimately realizing that Giff never cared about her, renounces him completely, chooses to redeem herself as Hana Natsuki, and fully devotes herself to protecting humans from Giff and Deadmans. Akaishi, on the other hand, refuses to accept Giff's displeasure with him and becomes desperate to regain Giff's trust—ultimately sacrificing his immortality to Giff and laying waste to ARARAT himself, directly betraying his goal of ensuring Giff wouldn't wipe humanity out.
  • Friendly Enemy: From the way she talks to Sakura, you would assume Aguilera is her friendly rival rather than her nemesis on the Deadmans' side. When her contract is destroyed in #33, she drops the "enemy" part and goes firmly into "friendly".
  • Frontline General: Despite being the cult's figurehead and initially lacking a Deadman or Rider form, she goes out into the field relatively often.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: The Deadmans' "Queen of Evil", on account of her betrothal to Giff, which is further backed up by her Deadman form being a Queen Bee.
  • Good Costume Switch: After leaving the Deadmans, she switches out her fanciful red dress for a simple black collared shirt and leather jacket. She switches again to the Weekend outfit upon joining the organization.
  • A Good Way to Die:
    • When Orteca reveals she's the sixth sacrifice needed to revive Giff, Aguilera still agrees to go along with the ritual if it means bringing Giff back, and gets annoyed with Revi when he frees her.
    • Later on, after she's rejected by Giff, Aguilera decides to have one last battle against Sakura and go down with what dignity she has left. Sakura chooses to save her by destroying her contract instead.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: After leaving Orteca to control Deadmans, she's still loyal to Giff and committed to seeing his revival, to the point where she'll even still ally with Orteca if it brings her quicker to her goal. Following Giff's rejection and her contract being destroyed in #33, she accepts Sakura's long-standing offer of friendship, joins the heroes, and even becomes a member of Weekend.
  • The Heavy: She serves as the Deadmans' leader in Giff's name, sending out orders and creating Deadman from humans.
  • Homage:
    • Her red dress and white, eye-like brooch are a reference to the Great Leader of Shocker.
    • Her Deadman and Kamen Rider forms are one to Wasp Woman, the very first Kamen Rider female monster.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Her relationship with Giff is one thing, but in #22 she ditches Tamaki/Julio since he's lost all his Deadman abilities (though as it turns out, she was trying to protect him), throwing in her lot with Orteca since he has the Demons Driver now.
  • Human Sacrifice: She's really the sixth sacrifice needed to revive Giff. #15 further elaborates that she will be the only one sacrificed, with the five Gifftex merely required to provide some of their energy to power the ritual.
  • The Kirk: She alternates between being eerily calm and cheerily sadistic, making her something of a balancer between the level-headed Orteca and fiery Julio.
  • Lady in Red: Wears a fancy red dress. She wears a different red, wedding-style dress for her marriage to Giff. She has it discarded and burnt in #30.
  • Last Dance: After losing her role as Queen of the Deadmans, who dissolve not long after, and being rejected by Giff, Aguilera loses all sense of purpose now that she doesn't have a place to go to and attempts to get Sakura to kill her so she can die with what dignity she has left. Sakura talks her out of it by offering her a place to belong.
  • Last of Her Kind: After Orteca has his Deadman contract voided by Revice in #20, Aguilera becomes the only remaining Phase 3 Deadman... and then she becomes the last one to have her contract Rider Slashed to oblivion by Sakura in #33.
  • Light Is Not Good: Her Deadman form mainly white with gold accents and can launch a hailstorm of gold energy needles, but she's still firmly devoted to Giff.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: #14 reveals that she wasn't let in on the fact that she would become the sixth sacrifice.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is Spanish for "eagle's nest", which may be a reference to Shocker's emblem.
  • More than Mind Control: Part of the reason Black Satan was able to corrupt her was because she already felt distant from Sakura, after coming to believe she didn't see her as family.
  • A Mother to Her Men: She may act flippant and self-centered at times, but she cares for her followers in her own way. Though as of #16 her "men" consist of only Julio, she's still very protective of him.
  • Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Shows a terrible amount of glee when watching the chaos caused by unleashed demons. Then there's her love for an elder god.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Invoked. Giff's revival ritual requires an "untainted" soul being wed and sacrificed to him. Thus, Aguilera does not initially use a Vistamp and though she's a skilled fighter who's able to match Sakura one-on-one, she does take part in fights against the Riders. Fully subverted after she receives the Queen Bee Proto Vistamp in #16.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Inverted; she wishes to be defeated only at Sakura's hands.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Acts like an easily bored and annoyed Alpha Bitch rather a charismatic and capable cult leader. When she's trying to convince Sakura to join them, she puts on a jovial veneer that does little to hide how sinister she is.
  • Puppet Queen: She is nominally the leader of the Deadmans in place of Giff, but in practice she's a figurehead whose purpose is to be a sacrificial maiden to complete Giff's revival. In #16, Orteca outright scoffs when Vice calls Aguilera his "boss" and reveals she's "just for show".
  • Redemption Promotion: She used to be a Phase 3 Deadman. Come her High-Heel–Face Turn, she becomes a Kamen Rider and is powerful enough to kick the arse of Vail singlehandedly.
  • Redemption Rejection: Angrily refuses Sakura when she tries to persuade her to stop being a Deadman in #19, stating she's committed to Giff and no one else. She ultimately drops the "Rejection" part to go with Sakura after getting rejected by Giff in #28 and having her contract destroyed by Sakura in #33.
  • Rooting for the Empire: Inverted and In-Universe. She roots for Sakura as she becomes Jeanne and destroys the Planarian Deadman, because she thinks Sakura is cool and finds it fun to watch her. When Sakura grants her one final battle, she joins her side.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: She has a tendency to say crying sounds instead of actually making them, something even the other Deadmans riff on her for.
  • Shoo the Dog: #23 reveals the real reason she fired Tamaki: she was counting on him going to Sakura, trusting the latter to protect him.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Aguilera has her sweet moments, particularly towards Sakura, though she's still towards most other people.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: Throws away her Giff bridal gown and swaps it for a black getup in #30, symbolizing her break from the Deadmans.
  • Stepford Smiler: Tells Sakura that she found true happiness with the Deadmans. Sakura retorts that she doesn't seem truly happy at all.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: After joining Weekend, she becomes the feminine Girly Girl to Sakura's tomboy (with a girly streak).
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Other than her Heel–Face Turn, she treats Tamaki better after becoming Kamen Rider Aguilera as well, no longer abusing him, at worst only giving him Tough Love at times.
  • Tyke Bomb: #12 and #13 reveal that Aguilera was raised by the cult and selected from childhood to be Giff's bride. She claims to lead a happy life thanks to it. Her actual feelings seem to be more complicated, so she suppresses them. Even after leaving the Deadmans, her conditioning is such that she remains committed to Giff.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Proclaims herself to be Giff's fiancée and is set to wed him as a part of his revival ceremony.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: She takes an interest in Sakura after their brief fight in #6 and starts trying to persuade her to side with the Deadmans. Given her short attention span for most other things, the odd amount of patience she puts in interacting with Sakura is not a good sign. #14 revealed that she was hoping to make Sakura into the last sacrifice to revive Giff.
  • Villainous BSoD: Giff slapping and rejecting her in #28 sent her into shock. In contrast to her usual impulsiveness, she stays silent and sullenly walks away after seeing Giff reawaken without her, not even turning to look at Sakura as she shouts her name.
  • Was Once a Man: Becomes a Gifftex in #16. Her contract gets destroyed in #33.
  • Wild Card: As of #17, she's still committed to Giff, but is now rogue. After Giff rejects her in #28, she stays rogue and tries to have another fight with Sakura, before eventually turning good and joining Weekend.
  • Worthy Opponent: Comes to view Sakura as this, to the point of going out of her way to fight her. After being rejected by Giff and believing she has nothing else to live for, Aguilera goes to Sakura so she can die fighting her one last time. Sakura chooses to spare her however and they soon transition from worthy opponents to close friends.
  • You Monster!: Or in this case, "You Bastard!";note  she says this to Orteca when she learns he kept making Gifftarians even after she agreed to work for him.

Tropes exclusive to her as Kamen Rider Aguilera

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_aguileraqueenbee.png
Subvert Up! Wow! Just believe in Myself! Kamen Rider! Ah~! Aguilera!

  • Boring, but Practical: Compared to the other Transformation Trinkets, such as the Revice Driver, Two SiDriver, Demons Driver, Libera Driver and the Vail Driver, the requirements for the Week Endriver is simply just a Vistamp, and it doesn't require a user's inner demon, allowing theoretically anyone to use it, and Aguilera is no slouch in combat either.
  • Cute Bruiser: Hana Natsuki is a cute girl, even for a former Queen of Evil and Aguilera is a relatively simplistic Rider form. Doesn't stop it from being strong enough to take out Vail, a demon so powerful that Ikki and Vice need to become Revice Thunder Gale in order to fight evenly with him and who no other Rider in the series was able to defeat up until that point. She can even keep up with Holy Live as well.
  • Devious Daggers: Queen Bee Genome grants her a pair of kunai, dubbed the Needle Kunai.
  • Finishing Move: Has two types, just as with the Libera Driver:
    • "Stamping Breaks", with Aguilera raising and lowering the buckle once to perform them.
      • Queen Bee Genome: Has three variants:
      • Aguilera forms a sphere of golden honey-like energy from her hand and fires it a sustained stream at the enemy. The stream produced a shockwave of golden energy upon initially striking the enemy and continually bombards them, eventually resulting in an explosion.
      • Aguilera's leg is covered in magenta energy and surrounded by a burst of red energy. The energy covering her leg is then strengthened and accompanied by additional crimson and yellow energy. Aguilera performs a roundhouse kick, producing a trail of the energy covering her leg. The kick releases a large amount of red energy upon impact and launches the enemy away.
      • Aguilera grabs an enemy and flies into the air with them. She releases the opponent, resulting in them continuing to move forward, while she flies higher into the air by herself. Aguilera then performs a flying kick that produces waves of orange and gold energy. The opponent crashes into a building and bounces off before Aguilera's kick strikes them, producing a shockwave and smashing the enemy into the building a second time. The surrounding wall is destroyed even more as a result shortly before the enemy explodes.
    • "Stamping Destroys", with Aguilera raising the buckle, hitting the Activation Knock and lowering it again to perform them.
      • Queen Bee Genome: Has three variants:
      • Aguilera charges the Needle Kunai with energy before driving them through the enemy's feet, immobilizing them.
      • Aguilera delivers multiple Rider Slashes to the enemy with the Needle Kunai.
      • Aguilera conjures multiple energy kunai and launches them at the enemy.
      • Buffalo Genome: Aguilera levitates the OOOrang Circles, charging them with energy before hurling them at the enemy.
  • Flight: Can extend red bee wings from her back, allowing her to fly.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: The very existence of her Rider form, as well as her name, spoils Hana's Heel–Face Turn and becoming a Rider.
  • Light Is Good: Her suit is primarily white, befitting a heroic Rider.
  • Red Is Heroic: Her secondary color is a bright red, and she's a hero now.
  • Rings of Death: The OOOrang Circles, a pair of wind-and-fire wheels granted by the Kamen Rider OOO-themed Buffalo Vistamp.
  • Virtuous Bees: In contrast to her Bee Afraid Queen Bee Deadman form, her faceplate resembles a bee stinger, and she's a heroic rider.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Her official statistics show her to be even weaker than Kamen Rider Jeanne, which is due to the Week Endriver being intended to be a refined and mass-produced version of the Libera Driver. However, Hana's previous combat experience in the Deadmans make up for these deficiencies, which is enough to overwhelm Vail of all people. Granted, it was an Unspoken Plan Guarantee at the time, but it still shows how impressive her combat skills are.

    Orteca

Makoto Hatsushiba/Orteca/Daiouikanote  Deadman/Kamen Rider Demons (II)/Anomalocaris Deadman/Kamen Rider Orteca

Portrayed by: Hayata Seki (live), Shogo Teramoto (suit)
Young Orteca Portrayed by: Takeru Ishida

This world... belongs to me.

Aguilera's right-hand man, with a soft-spoken and calculating personality. In order to revive the demon worshipped by the Deadmans, he sacrifices humans with a strong ill-intent, forcing them to create monsters through using the Vistamps.

Initially using the Daiouika Proto Vistamp to transform into the Daiouika Deadman, he later steals the Demons Driver and Spider Vistamp, becoming the second Kamen Rider Demons. Following his abandonment by Vail, he fuses with Giff's casket, using the Anomalocaris Proto Vistamp to transform into the Anomalocaris Deadman.

Daiouika!
Click here to see his Anomalocaris Deadman form

  • Abusive Parents: #27 reveals his family life was anything but happy, with his father lashing out at him and abusing him after he showed himself smarter than him.
  • Ambiguously Human: The loss of his contract should have reverted him back to a human, yet he is able to use the Demons Driver without any side effects whatsoever, unlike Hiromi. Not to mention the demon within the Driver actually recognizing him as one of them...
  • Arc Villain: Is one for the show's second arc, after spending its first arc as The Dragon. He's consumed by Giff in #28, which marks the very point Giff himself takes center stage.
  • Arch-Enemy: He has quite the knack for gaining these.
    • Aguilera has a bone to pick with him for deceiving and betraying her.
    • He ends up on Julio/Tamaki's hit list due to the aforementioned betrayal, and further cements it by killing Yosuke.
    • He earns Ikki's enmity with his utter callousness in killing other humans — including his own followers — by turning them into Gifftarians. And then he further solidifies it by (seemingly) killing Hiromi.
    • His backstabbing and killing of Chigusa solidifies him as Hiromi's.
    • After his (apparent) killing of Hiromi in #21, he is now this to the other Igarashi siblings and Vice.
    • As the title suggests, "Juuga Vs Olteca" sets him up as one to George.
  • Asshole Victim: Nobody could care less about him once Giff swallows him whole, considering the atrocities he has done throughout the second-half of the series. Even after he's pulled out on the surface after Giff is vanquished, George could only relish at rubbing it in his face while in solitary confinement.
  • Bad Boss: Being one of his followers isn't a guarantee he won't use you as livestock to create Gifftarians.
  • Bastard Understudy: If his dialogue with Akaishi is any indication, he didn't plan on staying his subordinate for long. His eventual goal was to fuse with Giff himself and use his power to conquer the world.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Orteca is a very dangerous villain who causes a lot of death and suffering, and is the main antagonist for the first half of the series. However, he's far below Giff on the totem pole, and eventually every attempt made to power himself up ends up being shortlived and quickly eclipsed once Demons loses steam. He ultimately only realizes this as Giff is devouring him.
  • Birds of a Feather: The Demons Driver immediately takes a liking to his sadism, and it's implied they work together so well without any drawbacks because they both enjoy human suffering.
  • Breaking Out the Boss: A mysterious figure sets him free in Juuga VS Orteca and tasks him with stealing the Juuga Driver.
  • Breakout Character: Popular enough to get his own special shared with George and his own Rider form after it got enough fan support.
  • Character Tics: Has a tendency to lightly tug at his collar as Demons.
  • Child Prodigy: As a child he was able to do complex mathematical equations far beyond his age.
  • Clark Kenting: His disguise in Juuga VS Orteca amounts to him simply donning a slightly different hairstyle. He even uses his real name, yet is able to join Rinna's project while remaining undetected.
  • Climax Boss: Serves as this in #28, beating Live, Jeanne and Demons all at once and requiring Ikki to use the Thunder Gale Vistamp in order to defeat him.
  • Combat Tentacles: Is able to extend his tentacles and attack with them in his Deadman forms.
  • The Corrupter: Rather than force the Vistamps on the people he targets, Orteca tries to convince them to willingly embrace their inner demons.
  • Cthulhumanoid: His Deadman form, which is modelled on the Giant Squid.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He was a Child Prodigy whose intelligence led to him feeling isolated, and he was abused by his father after he proved himself smarter than him.
  • De-power: Gets his contract destroyed by Revice in #20. In the very next episode however, he gets the Demons Driver.
  • Did Not See That Coming:
    • He is caught completely flat-footed by Julio entering Riot Form and one-shotting a Gifftarian in #18.
    • He also did not expect the Demons Driver to block him from using a Triple Genomix in #24. He's further taken off guard when Vail, the demon inside of it, decides to abandon him to pursue his own agenda.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Orteca serves as the main antagonist for the first half of the series, since his superiors mostly disconnected from the plot. He's defeated just after the halfway point, before being absorbed by Giff to complete his reawakening.
  • Discard and Draw: Twice:
    • He first gains the Demons Driver after his Daiouika Deadman contract is destroyed by Revice.
    • He then uses the Anomalocaris Proto Vistamp and fuses with Giff in #28 after his partnership with the Demons Driver turns sour.
  • The Dragon: He's Aguilera's right hand and advisor who is generally the one who hands out Vistamps.
    • This position helps him subvert Aguilera later on. When Orteca reveals Aguilera's role as the true sacrifice, the other Gifftex aside from Julio are quick to acknowledge him as The Leader.
    • Later on, he's revealed to really this to the founder of the Deadmans, leading the cult and carrying out operations on his behalf.
  • Enemy Mine: In ''Battle Familia he helps the Riders stop Azuma, in exchange for time off his sentence.
  • Evil Genius: The cult's strategist, who holds the most knowledge on the nature of Vistamps and the ritual necessary to revive Giff. Granted, it's not like he would have any competition for that role anyway. He later reveals he feels he is a genius well beyond everyone around him to the point of using this as justification for his complete lack of interest or empathy for others.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: He thinks the Demons Driver was his willing ally. In truth, Vail, the demon inside of it, was only on his side as long as Vail wanted to be. Vail wasn't even letting him use the full power of it to begin with and promptly abandons him when he decides to "go home."
  • Face Death with Dignity: Even when he's defeated and about to be absorbed by Giff in episode 28, he stays as calm as he can and simply says the world must not be his after all, before becoming Giff's final sacrifice.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Orteca is a charming Bishounen with a friendly disposition that, judging by Kanae's reaction to him meeting her in person, has a few smitten fangirls in the Deadmans cult. However, beneath this exterior is a ruthless, manipulative villain willing to sacrifice anyone, even his cultists.
  • Faux Affably Evil: For a demonic cultist, Orteca seems like a pleasant enough guy to talk to. He acts amicable to the other Deadmans and it's worth noting he tries to persuade his targets to accept the Vistamps willingly rather than force them on them. Underneath all that, he is a very manipulative individual who has no qualms with sacrificing others to further his goals and can be quite spiteful, all usually with a smile on his face.
  • Freudian Excuse: The isolation and abuse from his father he suffered during his childhood are alluded to have made him the heartless person he is today. Although given what an unrepentant bastard he is, it more contextualizes his current personality rather than excuses it.
  • Fusion Dance: Merges with Giff's casket to become the Anomalocaris Deadman in #28.
  • Genius Bruiser: While he's the Deadmans' strategist, in battle whenever he has a power advantage over his opponent, his main tactic is just to hammer away at them with brute force until they're defeated.
  • Hate Sink: Out of the three Deadmans generals, Orteca is the worst among them who gleefully sacrifices and betrays his own cult members to achieve his goals. In fact, despite having a Dark and Troubled Past, all of his atrocities of creating Gifftarians didn't stop him being a hated figure.
  • Healing Factor: Possesses this in his Deadman form; it's potent enough that he's returned to normal by the end of #18 after having a large chunk of his body torn out by the Wolf Deadman Riot at the start. This is further bolstered by his fusion with Giff, allowing him to shrug off Demons Batta Genomix's Finishing Move.
  • The Heavy: Takes the ball from Aguilera after the reveal. He's the one guiding the Deadmans' operations and eventually takes a more proactive role by creating Gifftarians and gathering sacrifices for Giff.
  • Here We Go Again!: Juuga VS Orteca ends with him breaking out of custody again and getting chased by Ikki, Daiji, Sakura, Hiromi, George, Hana and Tamaki.
  • Hero Killer: Blasted Hiromi off the cliff, the previous Kamen Rider Demons by stealing the Demons Driver and performing his Finishing Move on him while the latter was untransformed. Subverted when DEAR GAGA reveals that he survived, albeit with no memories of his time with Fenix.
  • Homage: His Deadman form is one to Dr. Shinigami's kaijin form as the squid-themed Ikadevil.
  • Humans Are Morons: Developed this mindset from a young age due to his intellect, viewing everyone else as inferior to himself.
  • I Lied: In #25 he gets Aguilera to agree to be his Dragon on the condition he stops turning people into Gifftarians. Later on in the episode he's revealed to have turned at least two more people into Gifftarians, nonchalantly dismissing it when Aguilera confronts him about it.
Aguilera: What happened to our deal?!
Orteca: Deals are made to be broken.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: As a Child Prodigy he found school to be pointless and unstimulating, and his attempts to engage himself by tackling harder problems only led to him becoming more ostracized, with even his own father labeling him a freak.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Before being absorbed by Giff, his thoughts are about the time spent together with Aguilera and Julio, implying that he appreciated them, but shortly after it's revealed that he's only concerned about having failed to make the world his, in which he truly only worked together with them to rule the world.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Even after turning out to be Not Quite Dead and inadvertently set free from Giff's dimension, his former teammates are quick to recapture him under Weekend's custody, and remains imprisoned for the rest of the series. Zig-zagged in "Juuga vs Olteca", where he breaks out but is recaptured, only to break out again at the end of the special. He's last seen being chased around, so who knows how long it will last.
  • Karmic Death: Sacrifices dozens of people throughout the series, only for his fate to be becoming the final sacrifice needed to revive Giff. However, #44 revealed him to be alive within Giff's dimension.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Turns Go/Julio's best friend Yosuke into a Gifftarian solely out of spite, and then proceeds to taunt him about going after Aguilera next.
    • He still turns Chigusa into a Gifftarian, even after she'd already proved her loyalty by betraying Fenix.
    • After soundly defeating all three of the Igarashi siblings and Vice during his debut as Kamen Rider Demons, he proceeds to blast Hiromi off a cliff in front of all of them.
  • Kick Them While They're Down: After Revi and Vice turn Julio back to normal, Orteca attempts to kill the latter while he's still distraught, only for Aguilera to block the attack and force him to retreat.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Post #21 Orteca has shown his true colors and tends to be responsible for most of the show's dark moments.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Juuga VS Orteca sees him getting some well-deserved payback from Hana, who thwarts his attempt to start a new Deadmans group by having her informants join it before twisting Orteca's arm and sending him fleeing.
  • Last Words: Before his absorption by Giff in #28:
"I suppose... this world was never mine to have."
  • Like Father, Like Son: His father from what little we see had a massive superiority complex and was abusive to him. As an adult, Orteca became a narcissist who believes himself to be superior to everyone else and is both an emotionally and physically abusive boss towards his followers. It's implied that this is in part due to Orteca being a product of his father's abuse and neglect.
  • Light Is Not Good: His Daiouika Deadman form sports a white hood and mantle.
  • Longer-Than-Life Sentence: As of the final episode, he is serving a 666-year prison sentence.
  • The Man in Front of the Man: Aguilera is nominally his boss and the acting leader of the cult, but it becomes apparent that it's Orteca who actually directs most of the cult's affairs and Aguilera is just a figurehead whose purpose is to be sacrificed to complete Giff's revival, something Orteca keeps from her until the ritual is ready.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Excels at playing on people's emotions to get them to join the Deadmans to a frightening ruthless degree.
  • Master Actor: Assumes the guise of a meek nerd to persuade Rinna Sagami to create a Demons Driver and purified Daiouika Vistamp for his own use. Not even the arrival of George throws off his momentum.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is a Portmanteau of "Olmec" and "Aztec", two ancient civilizations originating from Mexico. The latter was particularly known for its practice of Human Sacrifice.
  • Mook Maker: With the Giff Stamp in hand, Orteca can create Gifftarians by simply pressing it on people.
  • Mr. Exposition: Occasionally delivers As You Know reminders about the exact workings of Deadmans' plans to Aguilera.
  • Mysterious Past: Unlike Julio and Aguilera, barely anything has been revealed about Orteca's past before joining the Deadmans. When asked by Chameleon what his goal in joining the Deadmans was, Orteca simply says to Take Over the World. His backstory is eventually revealed in #20, though even then the one he gives is vague and there's still things about him indicating that there may be more to him than meets the eye. #27 reveals more of his past, he was a genius even as a child, but his intelligence led to his father abusing him and labeling him a freak.
  • Not Quite Dead: Defeated by Revice and subsequently absorbed by Giff in episode 28. Only to turn out to be alive and just stuck in a bubble in Giff's dimension in #44.
  • One-Winged Angel: Becomes the Anomalocaris Deadman by fusing with Giff.
  • Only Sane Man: In between his boss being a Psychopathic Womanchild and Julio being overly brazen to the point of having No Social Skills, Orteca seems to be the only level-headed person among the Deadmans. He's The Sociopath but he won't Kick the Dog if it's not necessary.
  • Palette Swap: His Anomalocaris Deadman form is a recolored version of the Daiouika Deadman suit, minus the hood.
  • Parasol of Pain: Wields Paranegro, an umbrella-shaped weapon that functions as both sword and shield.
  • Path of Inspiration: Under Orteca's command, the Deadmans essentially became just a way for him to gather people to create Gifftarians from. This has the predictable result of the number of Deadmans followers running dry really quickly.
  • Poisonous Person: He can unleash toxic flames from his hands in his Deadman form.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: He'll Kick the Dog and throw people under the bus when necessary, though he generally tries to be diplomatic and get things done through persuasion rather than force. He even attempted to be on good terms with Kagero, welcoming him to the group and trying to smooth things over after Aguilera pressed the demon's Berserk Button.
  • The Remnant: Juuga VS Orteca shows he's still interested in carrying on the legacy of the Deadmans. Once he escapes from jail, he founds a new group called the "Neo Deadmans". Although he ends up being its only member, as the two former Deadmans followers he scouted to join turn out to really be Blue Bird informants.
  • Secondary Color Nemesis: He's the only Deadmans executive to wear a secondary colored uniform. He's also the most twisted out of all of them.
  • Shadow Archetype: #20 indicates he's one to the Igarashi siblings, as unlike the three of them, who were raised by loving parents and all grew up to be good people, Orteca was raised by a cruel and abusive father and turned out cruel and abusive in kind.
  • Slasher Smile: Flashes a truly sinister one in #18 right before turning Yosuke into a Gifftarian.
  • The Sociopath: A high-functioning example. He's charismatic, superficially charming and skilled at playing on people's emotions to manipulate them. At the same time, he's also incredibly cold-blooded and while he refrains from needlessly sadistic acts, he also won't hesitate to do things like sacrifice his own followers or turn someone's friend into a Gifftarian if that's an easy way to get at them. There's also the implication that this is why Demons is interested in him and doesn't drain his lifeforce, as the driver itself is also a sadistic bastard hellbent on enabling the causes of human suffering.
  • Spell My Name With An S: His name has been debated between "Olteca" and "Orteca". For a time it was thought to be "Ortega", in keeping with the Hispanic theme, until it was disproved by the official katakana spelling (カ/ka rather than ガ/ga).
  • The Spock: He's the most cool and logical member of the Deadmans.
  • The Strategist: He's the one who plans out the majority of the Deadmans' attempts to corrupt people and combat Fenix.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Unlike his teammates Orteca doesn't have any redeemable qualitiesFor context..., and he is the only one who never repents for all the crimes he committed.
  • Treacherous Advisor: To Aguilera. He advised her on the ritual to revive Giff while keeping her true role as its Human Sacrifice from her.
  • Trojan Prisoner: Allows himself to be captured in #20 so he can pass on the Giff Stamp to his boss and get his hands on the Demons Driver.
  • The Unchosen One: Initially believed that he was just fundamentally superior to Hiromi and it was his natural abilities that made him so much stronger as Demons. It doesn't take long before Vail makes it clear that no, he just let Orteca use more of his power and when Orteca stops being useful to him, he not only prevents him from using his full strength, he flat out leaves the Demons Driver.
  • Unskilled, but Strong:
    • As Kamen Rider Demons, he is very strong and capable of using multiple Genomixes, and while not an unskilled fighter relies heavily on his power and using multiple Genomixes to blitz and overwhelm his opponents. As a result, he struggles when the power gap is overcome and his opponent is more skilled than him. Holy Live shows this most directly: as he can't overwhelm Holy Live in speed and agility, he's forced to fall back on rapidly spamming attacks in his triple Genomix form and completely failing to even hit him.
    • As the Anomalocaris Deadman, he's even stronger, but almost entirely reliant on his Healing Factor and sheer toughness and even with the power boost spends the fight taking far more hits than he gives. Much like with Holy Live's debut, he's unable to so much as land a hit on Revice, with much of his attempted offense being sloppy blows.
  • Villain Decay: Zig-zagged in Juuga VS Orteca. He's as competent as he was in the main series, but is played much less seriously. The special even ends on him [[spoiler:escaping jail again and the entire main cast chasing after him in a sequence that's played entirely for humor.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: He has a disturbing number of die-hard followers, even though he sees most of them as little other than livestock to create Gifftarians from. After escaping jail, he manages to build a Revived Deadmans cult in the space of a night.
  • Villain Team-Up: With Vail after obtaining the Demons Driver and getting the devil to loan him his power. It lasts until Vail gets bored of him and leaves.
  • Villainous Breakdown:
    • While normally composed and calculating, Orteca gets furious in #27 after being bested by Holy Live, though by the time we see him again he's composed himself.
    • He has a different sort of one in #28, when he stands in stunned silence, all while trying to maintain his composure, as Giff absorbs him.
  • Villainous Friendship: He at least seems friendly enough with his boss to be able to banter with her. Subverted later when he tries to sacrifice her to reawaken Giff and scoffs at her after.
  • Was Once a Man: He was formerly a human who fused with his Deadman, becoming one of the six planned Gifftex. His contract is destroyed in #20, which reverts him back to a human.
  • Would Hit a Girl:
    • He kills Chigusa and Kanae by turning them into Gifftarians without batting an eyelid.
    • He has no qualms going all out against Aguilera and Sakura.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He has no problem using the Giff Stamp on a child, as seen in #27.

Tropes exclusive to him as Kamen Rider Demons

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_demonsspider.png
Decide Up! Deep. (Fukaku.) Drop. (Ochiru.) Danger. (Kiki. Kamen.) Rider. Demons!

  • Dark Is Evil: Unlike Hiromi, Orteca is very much a bad guy and thus Demons' fearsome design fits him a lot more.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Spider Genome: has two variations.
      • Demons coats his leg in crimson energy before unleashing a side kick, with spider legs forming from his leg and crushing the enemy.
      • Demons coats his fist in crimson energy before unleashing a powerful Rider Punch, with his arm caged in spider legs.
    • Batta + Scorpion Genomix: has two variations.
      • Demons leaps into the air, with the Ridolstinger charging with crimson energy and wrapping itself around his body and Demon Bottom Higher in a drill shape, as he unleashes a devastating Rider Kick on the enemy. Should there be adjacent enemies, they are simultaneously attacked by the Ridolstinger.
      • Demons jumps into the air and performs a flying kick, landing on the ground near the opponent. He then delivers several kicks and stabs with the Demon Ridolstinger before jumping into the air once again. Demons performs a dropkick with the Demon Ridolstinger coiled around his body, producing a dome of red energy in front of him.
  • Logical Weakness: Orteca tends to use the Batta Genomix to constantly jump and blitz his opponent with his other Genomix weaponry from out of reach without giving them a chance to counterattack. This works great against grounded foes who can't keep pace, but when facing someone agile enough to keep up, he's just spamming attacks trying to hit something. His triple Genomix fails to even hit Holy Live because he can fly with a great deal of speed and agility.
  • Power Fist: Gains the Demon Bladiors, a pair of spiked gauntlets via the Anomalocaris Proto Vistamp.
  • Power-Upgrading Deformation: Orteca tends to use two or more Genomixes at once, and the resulting combinations usually make Demons take on a more inhuman silhouette.
  • Power-Up Letdown: He's finally able to use a triple Genomix, and while it lets him take Jack Revice off guard and curbstomp him, Holy Live instantly curbstomps him by proving too fast and agile for him to land a hit on.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Demons has red and black as part of its colour scheme and Orteca is undoubtedly evil to his core.
  • Red Is Violent: Demons has red as part of its colour scheme and Orteca and the Demons Driver go all out in dealing violence on the heroic Riders plus tons of bloodshed.
  • Spider-Man Send-Up: Rather than Peter Parker, Orteca takes after Otto Octavius's Superior Spider Man incarnation, being a cephalopod-themed villain who assumes the mantle of a spider-themed hero and becoming a Superior Successor to the previous bearer. However, while Octavius turned to the side of good, Orteca remains a villain through and through.
  • Superior Successor: Orteca makes for a much more adept Demons than Hiromi did. Unlike Hiromi, who couldn't even defeat Evil and could only use one Genomix at a time, Orteca not only easily defeats Live and even Revi, Vice and Jeanne all at once, but also able to combine and use multiple Genomixes simultaneously. This is Lampshaded by Ikki, Sakura and Vice:
    Ikki: Isn't he...
    Sakura: ...a bit too strong?!
Vice: It's like his demon powers have multiplied!

Decide Up! Rise! (Noboru.) Rage! (Ikari.) Requiem! (Kanashimi.) Kamen Rider!

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Mainly fights with no weapons.
  • Combat Tentacles: He can use the tentacles on his right shoulder to attack his foes.
  • Evil Knockoff: His form is basically a green version of Juuga.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Demons Finish: Orteca covers leg in teal energy, jumps and delivers a kick as energy tentacles come around his leg and crutches enemies.
  • Giant Squid: His main form is called Kraken Genome, which is based on a giant squid.
  • The Gunslinger: A Zenrin Shooter-esque gun, granted by the Chameleon Vistamp.

Aguilera's bodyguard, with a rough and aggressive personality. Just like Orteca, he also seeks human sacrifices. In the wake of the failed revival ritual and Fenix's assault on the Deadmans' base, he follows Aguilera in leaving the cult.

Initially using the Wolf Proto Vistamp to become the Wolf Deadman, he later inherits the Demons Driver and the Kuwagata Vistamp from Hikaru, using them to transform into the second Kamen Rider Over Demons.

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: In #18, he does not hesitate to ask Sakura for her help in protecting Aguilera, despite being enemies.
  • Animal Motifs: Wolves and dogs. Julio is completely loyal to Aguilera and often tries to cheer her up, much like how a pet dog would towards their owner. At the same time, his prowess in battle and disdain for betrayal brings to mind a Savage Wolf with a strong sense of teamwork and loyalty to the pack.
  • Anti-Villain: While he's an executive of a deadly cult wanting to revive an ancient Eldritch Abomination, his backstory reveals how he was driven to becoming one, and at the end of the day is more concerned with Aguilera's welfare than taking over the world.
  • The Atoner: Like Aguilera, he joins Weekend to make up for the sins he committed as a Deadmans member.
  • The Berserker: Julio's rage and aggressiveness are ramped up in Riot Form, turning him to a force of nature rampaging through and destroying everything in his path.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Doing anything to mock or insult Aguilera is a quick way to provoke him.
    • Betrayal in any shape or form, be it towards himself or someone he cares for, is enough to earn his eternal enmity. #17 reveals how this came to be: before joining the Deadmans, he was betrayed by his best friend who ripped up his treasured trading card.
    • Anything involving Orteca is a big one, as said friend above was turned into a Gifftarian.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He pretends to be a shy, awkward new student at Sakura's dojo to get leverage on Ikki through her. However, #17 shows that the shy, awkward front he puts on was his actual personality before joining the Deadmans.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Downplayed; even as a powerless human, #36 shows that he's still competent enough to pass Weekend's entry test and briefly forces Vail back with a shoulder tackle, and the beginning of #37 shows that he can still fight off Giff Juniors for a bit while evacuating civilians.
  • The Brute: Aguilera's bodyguard and the one who most often handles the physical end of operations, such as gathering humans for Aguilera to create a Deadman from.
  • Catchphrase: If he ever sees someone feeling down (usually his boss), expect him to encourage them to "Smile!" Often times this is followed by a Dope Slap from Aguilera.
  • Conflicting Loyalty: As a Gifftex Deadman, he worships Giff, but it's shown in #14 that he's also loyal to Aguilera personally and isn't happy about having to sacrifice her to revive Giff. In the next episode, he begrudgingly goes along with the ritual when Aguilera says it's what she wants, but when the Kamen Riders crash it, he tries to free her first chance he gets.
  • De-power: Loses his Level 3 Deadman status after Revice separates him from his contract in #18. His Demons Driver is trashed by Goerge as Juuga in #47.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: A platonic example. He's completely loyal to Aguilera and constantly trying to keep her happy, even as she abuses him and scorns his efforts.
  • Dragon Their Feet: After having his Deadman contract nullified in #18, he's fired by Aguilera four episodes later as his lack of powers means he can't act as a proper "Brute" anymore. This leaves him with little place else to go, though luckily Sakura lets him stay at Happy Spa.
  • Easily Forgiven: Like Aguilera he doesn't face any true punishment after turning good despite being an executive of an evil cult. And like Aguilera it's justified for the same reasons as her.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Is fiercely protective of Aguilera, on account of her helping him when he was at his lowest.
  • Evil Is Visceral: In addition to the many mouths on his body, his Deadman form has red, blue and mauve tubes on his torso, which evoke the image of blood vessels and exposed intestines. He can activate a Finishing Move by clamping down the wolf jaws on his chest, which pumps blood-like energy into Rugir to fire a larger shot.
  • Foil: He's gradually revealed to be one to Hiromi. Both Hiromi and Tamaki were bullied in their youth, but while Hiromi joined Fenix to become the hero he needed, Tamaki sought companionship in the Deadmans cult and became the villainous Julio. Both of them are highly sensitive and emotional, but Hiromi hides his emotions under a stoic façade, while Tamaki is loud and expressive, both before and after his redemption. Fittingly, Hiromi is the first user of Kamen Rider Demons, while Tamaki is the last named character to don the Demons Driver.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: From nerdy schoolboy who liked card games to evil cult executive.
  • Good Costume Switch: He takes to wearing normal clothes instead of his Deadmans getup after he mellows out around #18, and later gets a Weekend uniform after officially joining the organisation in #37.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Gains a couple of them on his face after his clash with Orteca in #17.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: While he's become friendly with Sakura, he's still loyal to Aguilera and thus is liable to take whatever side she ends up falling on. Turns into a Heel–Face Turn once his contract is destroyed and Aguilera abandons him.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: Does a lot of legwork for the organization while walking around in his colorful outfit in broad daylight despite being a wanted inhuman terrorist.
  • Homage: His Deadman form is one to Colonel Zol's kaijin form as the wolf-themed Golden Wolf Man.
  • I Lied: Says he'll give back Sakura in exchange for a Vistamp in #3. When Daiji gives him a Vistamp, however, he swats him aside and mocks him for believing him.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Practically every time he appears post his redemption, he's crying about something to do with Aguilera. This trait disappears after Aguilera's own redemption in #33.
  • It's Personal: Has it out for Orteca as of #15, due to the latter's of Aguilera.
  • Large Ham: Seems to have a habit of screeching the last syllable of his sentences when he speaks.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: #14 reveals that he wasn't let in on the fact that Aguilera would become the sixth Gifftex sacrifice, unlike Orteca and the candidate Gifftexes.
  • The McCoy: He's the one who's most fiery and passionate about the Deadmans' goals.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • His name is pronounced like Furio, which is Spanish for "fury", befitting his personality.
    • Rugir is Spanish for "roar"/"bark".
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: His Deadman form has several mouths on everything from his knees to the sides of his head, each one with numerous bared fangs.
  • Nerd Glasses: Used to wear glasses while he was a nerdy schoolboy. He discarded them at some point after joining the Deadmans, and resumes wearing them while Clark Kenting as "Tamaki Orifu" after his return to humanity. He does have them off once he fully joins Weekend, though.
  • Nerd in Evil's Helmet: He was a nerdy introvert who liked card games before he joined the Deadmans and became a Gifftex.
  • No Social Skills: His efforts at infiltrating Sakura's dojo are hampered by the fact that he has almost no idea how to interact like a normal person. #17 reveals he was like this even before joining the Deadmans.
  • Number Two for Brains: To Aguilera. He's not exactly dumb, but his blind fanaticism, difficulty socializing and willingness to go along with Aguilera's impulses mean he's not particularly smart either.
  • One-Winged Angel: Riot Form exponentially boosts his strength and combat prowess, allowing him to one-shot a Gifftarian. He only meets his match in Revi Volcano Rex Genome.
  • Real Name as an Alias: He uses his real name whenever he goes out undercover.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Goes on one in #18 after Orteca kills Yosuke.
  • Sadistic Choice: In #3, he offers Ikki Sakura's life in exchange for all his Vistamps. Daiji goes through with it, only to realize he was lying.
  • Sdrawkcab Alias: His new alias, "Tamaki Orifu", is the syllables for "Julio/Furio" (フリオ) spelt backwards.
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: In his human form he wears a gold harness resembling a ribcage around his lower torso.
  • Spell My Name With An S: His name is spelt with a "J" in English, but pronounced with an "F"/フ (fu) in Japanese, in accordance to the Spanish pronunciation of the letter J.
  • That Man Is Dead: As of #19, he no longer answers to the name Julio.
  • Tragic Keepsake: His now-repaired trading card serves as one, given to him by Yosuke as a peace offering before Orteca turns him into a Gifftarian.
  • Undying Loyalty: Unlike most of the others in the inner circle of the Deadmans, who view Aguilera as a puppet to be sacrificed, Julio is fiercely loyal to her and protective of her wellbeing, on account of her apparently having saved him while he was at his lowest. He goes so far as to claim that Aguilera is the most important person to him in the universe in #32.
  • Unstoppable Rage: While powerful, his Riot form suppresses his higher cognitive functions, causing him to attack indiscriminately in a blind rage.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: #17 reveals that he used be a nerdy, socially-awkward kid who loved playing trading card games with his friend Yosuke. Then Yosuke tore up his card after being pressured by some bullies, leading to him turning to the Deadmans after Aguilera cheered him up.
  • Was Once a Man: Like Orteca, he is a human who became one of the Gifftex. He regains his humanity in #18.
  • Wolf Man: As the Wolf Deadman, which resembles a humanoid wolf dressed in human clothes.
  • Villainous Friendship: With Aguilera, whom he's staunchly loyal to. It starts out one-sided, but the two eventually bond.

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Tamaki prefers using his bare hands and legs in combat, in contrast to Hikaru's liberal use of Genomixes.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Giraffa Genome: The O Wingal Shade turns into a pair of giant stag beetle mandibles, which Over Demons uses to grab the enemy and crush them.
  • Japanese Beetle Brothers: His Get Over Form is themed on the giraffe stag beetle.
  • Meaningful Name: "Get!" is the Japanese slang for when one catches a stag beetle.
  • Super Mode: Get Over Form, accessed using the Giraffa Vistamp.

    Chameleon Deadman (Major Spoilers)

"Yujiro Wakabayashi"/Chameleon Deadman

Portrayed by: Ayumu Kato (live, original form), Kazuya Tanabe (live, disguise)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_chameleon_deadman_phase_2.png
Chameleon!
Click here to see his original form

A Phase 2 chameleon-themed Deadman who has been infiltrating Fenix for a while, under the guise of Commander Wakabayashi. Upon his successful retrieval of the Giff Stamp from Skybase, he is transformed into a Gifftex.
  • 24-Hour Armor: Stays transformed as the Chameleon Deadman almost all of the time, as he dislikes his real appearance.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Hiromi, being the one who killed the real Wakabayashi.
  • Ax-Crazy: His reveal has him gleefully confessing to Wakabayashi's murder to a horrified Hiromi while sporting one of the hands-down scariest faces in the show. He' also got a pretty good Joker laugh.
  • Breath Weapon: #16 has him spew out flames from his mouth in Deadman form.
  • Character Death: Like Haitani and Kudo, he disintegrates and is absorbed into Giff after his defeat by Revi.
  • Chewing the Scenery:
    • Turns it up to eleven when he reveals himself.
      "GRRRRRRRRRRAAAACIAS, DEADMANNNNNNNNNNNNS!!!"
    • Despite maintaining Wakabayashi's appearance after his Giftex evolution, he revels in being able to show his "true face" when he rejoins the Deadmans. It's amazing to see the gleeful madman who continually twists the knife into Hiromi every chance he can get after being treated to the Father to His Men stoic mask he wore during his time in Fenix.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Played for laughs when attempting to disguise himself as Vice, being caught off-guard by the real one admitting he'd like to eat Ikki's family.
  • Evil Costume Switch: Downplayed; after becoming a Gifftex, he adopts Wakabayashi's appearance, but now wearing black, signifying the fact that he no longer needs to pretend to be the Big Good of Fenix wearing white.
  • The Faceless: His true appearance is only shown in #16, and he prefers to be the Chameleon Deadman or mimic Yujiro's appearance most of the time.
  • Hero Killer: He managed to Kill and Replace Wakabayashi, who was supposed to be the Big Good, some time before the first episode had even finished.
  • Homage: To General Black/Hiruchameleon of Geldam (Gel Shocker). Both share a chameleon motif and the ability to disguise as another person. Ironically, while General Black used his kaijin form as a disguise to get close to the heroes, the Chameleon Deadman did the opposite and used a human disguise to infiltrate the good guys' side. Their deaths also contrast one other; General Black died a warrior's death after using himself as bait for a trap, with the Double Riders acknowledging him as a Worthy Opponent, while the Chameleon Deadman died after walking into a trap Hiromi set for him, and his last moments were spent throwing a tantrum.
  • I Hate Past Me: Despite regaining his human form after becoming a Gifftex, he immediately changes back into Wakabayashi's form, saying that he's not too fond of his original looks. #16 has him admit that he constantly engaged in Rage Against the Reflection back when he was a human.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Upon reverting to his true form, he starts bawling and throwing a childish tantrum, but is disintegrated mid-sentence.
  • Informed Species: Uniquely the first averted case on-screen for a Phase 2 Deadman, as he actually does look like a chameleon. The fact that he is close to evolving into a Gifftex may have something to do with this.
  • Invisibility: Can do this to infiltrate or exfiltrate.
  • Karmic Death: He pulled off a Kill and Replace scheme to impersonate Wakabayashi and is motivated by a his own true appearance. Fittingly, he died by walking into a trap Hiromi set to avenge Wakabayashi and ends up having his true face revealed in his last moments.
  • Kill and Replace: He killed the real Wakabayashi at the beginning of the series and impersonated him to infiltrate Fenix.
  • Knight of Cerebus: He is the one to kick off the show's Cerebus Syndrome.
  • Last Words: Upon his final defeat and death in #16:
"Guess this is it for me... I hate this...!"
  • Laughably Evil: His actions even when transformed tend to be funny, if a bit disturbing.
  • Master of Disguise: Has the power to transform into other people.
  • Master Actor:
    • He plays his roles so well, it took him slipping up by calling the Barid Rex Vistamp by its official name for Karizaki to even suspect that he was a Deadmans agent. Even then, the only times his identity was called into question were based on these types of memory slips (giving George the Mammoth Vistamp after the Deadmans used it to attack the promotion ceremony) rather than him acting out of character.
    • He also seems to be able to take up personas at the drop of a hat, as he perfectly mimicked Vice's mannerisms and speech pattern in the middle of a fight to the point that Ikki needed to rely on Vice's shameless confession to wanting to eat his family to tell them apart.
  • Mole in Charge: Became the commander of Fenix after killing Yujiro and disguising himself as him. This persisted until he was found out.
  • Nerd in Evil's Helmet: His true human form is that of an unassuming, dorky man.
  • No Name Given: His true name is never revealed.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: Fitting for a chameleon monster, he has one. #16 has him use his tongue as a weapon, only for Vice to slash it into bits.
  • Shapeshifter Default Form: While he does have a true human form, he seems to prefer mimicking Wakabayashi's appearance.
  • Shapeshifter Swan Song: Goes through one upon his final defeat, with him reverting to his true human appearance just before he disintegrates.
  • Villainous Breakdown: He does not take it well when his attempt to infiltrate the Igarashis is foiled in #16.
    "You... damned... BRATS!!!"
  • Walking Spoiler: It's hard to talk about the Chameleon Deadman without giving away that he was mimicking Wakabayashi.
  • Was Once a Man: He's a human who became a Gifftex, like Julio, Orteca, Haitani, and Kudo.

    Amahiko Haitani

Amahiko Haitani/Planarian Deadman (II)

Portrayed by: Shuji Kashiwabara (live)

The Corrupt Counselor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_planarian_deadman_phase_2.png
Planarian!

A counselor by trade and a recruiter for the Deadmans cult, he is the contract holder for the Planarian Deadman, and later becomes a Gifftex using that very same Proto Vistamp.

  • Big Bad Wannabe: Proclaims in his introduction that he seeks to become the next Giff, only for Aguilera to quickly rebuff him. Subsequent episodes show him to be a Dirty Coward and Smug Snake. This even carries through to his final battle, where he is easily defeated and is Killed Off for Real.
  • Butt-Monkey: Gets a whole episode dedicated to Sakura cleaning his clock and having his carefully constructed image broken to pieces by everyone around him.
  • Bishōnen Line: The base Planarian Deadman is a largely featureless blob, that then becomes a humanoid monster as a Level 2 Deadman. As a Gifftex, Haitani can switch between his human and Deadman forms at will.
  • Character Death: He is absorbed by Giff after being defeated by the Igarashi siblings.
  • Dirty Coward: An Evil Genius when it comes to manipulating people and talks up a big game, but can't throw a punch to save his life. He even wanted to save himself from becoming a Deadman before Julio took his Vistamp and did the deed for him.
  • Grew a Spine: While not for long, Amahiko's transition to Gifftex seemed to give him a confidence boost as he willingly and eagerly aided Kudo in subduing Julio after he attacks Orteca in rage when it is revealed that Aguilera was nothing more than a sacrificial figurehead for Giff's revival. He also charges into battle against Sakura with gusto and takes delight in creeping her out with his new appearance. It still doesn't end well for him.
  • Irony: The Planarian Vistamp is based on Kamen Rider Chaser, and the most famous use of Chaser's powers was to kill Tenjuro Banno/Gold Drive by cleaving them in half. No points for guessing what you can not do to actual planarians to kill them.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Preys on the vulnerabilities of his recruits in order to get them to agree to a mutual agreement, allowing them to fuse with his Deadman to create a Level 2 Deadman.
  • Mook Maker: His MO is to create Planarian Deadmen to partner with his recruits, and to then generate multiple Level 2 Deadmen should they choose to follow through on the agreement.
  • Non-Action Guy: Downplayed. He prefers to let his Deadman do the fighting, especially after they contract with a recruit, but is duped into becoming a Level 2 Deadman himself (and eventually a Gifftex) after Julio forces him into his new form. As the fight with Sakura shows, he is useless if he can't talk his way out or have someone else fight for him.
  • Psycho Psychologist: Uses his job as a psychological counselor to coerce vulnerable people into becoming hosts for Deadman.
  • Was Once a Man: He's a human who became a Gifftex, like Julio, Orteca, the Chameleon Deadman and Kudo.

    Yasushi Kudo

Portrayed by: Gamon Kaai (live), Kotaro Kaji (suit)

The Corrupt Lawyer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_sabertiger_deadman_phase_2.png
Sabertiger!

A corrupt lawyer and the contract holder for the Kangaroo Deadman. After being freed from Fenix, he becomes the Sabertiger Deadman.

  • Amoral Attorney: Used his Kangaroo Deadman to intimidate witnesses in his trials into not testifying, in order to get favorable verdicts for himself.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: As the Sabertiger Deadman, he has fangs coming out of his arms.
  • Character Death: He is absorbed by Giff after being defeated by the Igarashi siblings.
  • Discard and Draw: After being introduced as the user of the Kangaroo Proto Vistamp, he later is given the Sabertiger Proto Vistamp, which he uses even after becoming a Gifftex.
  • Eyes Do Not Belong There: Has a large eyeball within its "mouth" in his Sabertiger Deadman form.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Usually acts formal and composed even when being a sleazy lawyer. Downplayed as he still speaks in a highly coarse and insufferable manner to anyone while putting himself on a pedestal.
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: His biggest beef with Ikki is his sincere belief in this fact, and that Ikki called him out on it.
  • Homage: The Sabertiger Deadman's appearance seems to be one to Scissors Jaguar, while his Smilodon motif brings to mind Witch Smilodon/Primordial Tiger and Grand Mutant Baraom.
  • Insult of Endearment: Played with. He enjoys pushing Ikki's buttons when it comes to his concerns about his lack of empathy, and calls him Egoist-kun in their final battle.
  • Put on a Prison Bus: After he was defeated in his debut episode, he had been locked up in Fenix Skybase for rehabilitation. The Bus Came Back in #13 when the Deadmans attack Skybase and liberated him.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Angrily calls out Ikki for his lack of sympathy and being a busybody in #14. However, Vice reassures his buddy he's fine the way he is and a little egoism every now and then is fine.
  • Sixth Ranger: Briefly joins the Deadmans' roster after being freed and selected to become a Gifftex. Fittingly, this makes him the sixth and final person selected for the ritual.
  • Smug Snake: Acts all confident and assured in believing things would go in his favor, unless if there's anything that gets him caught.
  • Super-Speed: Has this ability as the Sabertiger Deadman.
  • Was Once a Man: He's a human who became a Gifftex, like Julio, Orteca, the Chameleon Deadman and Haitani.

    Kanae Motomura

Kanae Motomura

Portrayed by: Saki Kiyoi

A cultist tasked by Orteca to reassemble the Deadmans, following Fenix's raid on their base.

  • Ascended Fangirl: She's giddy at getting to meet Orteca and do something for him personally.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: She wanted to serve Orteca in any way she could. Unfortunately for her it meant becoming a host for a Gifftarian.
  • Last Words: Before being turned into a Gifftarian:
  • Mauve Shirt: She's one of the many hooded Deadmans worshippers, albeit one that's given a full name and enough characterization for us to feel bad when she's turned into a Gifftarian.
  • Middle-Management Mook: She seemed to function as Orteca's intermediary to the other Deadmans worshippers.
  • Office Lady: In her day-to-day life, her dress-up is that of an typical office lady.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She only appears in #17 and #23 before being turned into a Gifftarian in #24.

    Chigusa Yamagiri

Chigusa Yamagiri

Portrayed by: Kazusa Okuyama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/revice_ep19_production_image1_chigusa_yamagiri_pointing_guns.png
Double Agent of Deadmans

My objective looks like this.

A Fenix member who was fellow cadets with Hiromi Kadota and Tatsuhiko Tabuchi. Sent as a spy to infiltrate the Deadmans, she ends up defecting to them sincerely.
  • Actor Allusion: This isn't the first time the actress played a character for a paramilitary organization.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Has her hair cut short, emphasizing her tough and hardened personality.
  • Character Death: Gets turned into a Gifftarian in #20.
  • Double Reverse Quadruple Agent: Sent by Fenix to infiltrate the Deadmans, but flipped and became the Deadmans' spy in Fenix instead.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Poor girl got turned into a Gifftarian by Orteca after she joined him.
  • Evil Former Friend: Was formerly fellow cadets with Hiromi and Tabuchi. She seems to still care about at least Hiromi to some degree, as evidenced by her not shooting him when she had the chance.
  • Guns Akimbo: Duel wields pistols when holding both Hiromi and Tabuchi hostage.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Originally a Fenix soldier, she defected to join the Deadmans, but claims she only did so because she learned the truth behind the organisation.
  • Institutional Allegiance Concealment: Chigusa infiltrated Deadmans long before the series started. But it was in #19 that she revealed that he she turned before she met Hiromi again.
  • Last Words: After Orteca slams the Giff Stamp on her:
  • Men Use Violence, Women Use Communication: Unlike her fellow cadets, who are both formal and honest but socially inept, she can put on a friendly face and slip into people's trust with ease. Not that it would mean she is averse to violence as evidenced by her ambushing and pistol whipping Hiromi.
  • She Knows Too Much: Orteca uses the Giff Stamp on her before she can reveal the secret behind both Fenix and Deadmans to Hiromi, resulting in a Gifftarian devouring her.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Has a total screentime of two episodes before being consumed by an Gifftarian.

Soldiers

    Giff Junior
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_giff_junior.png
The foot-soldiers of the Deadmans, demons extracted and summoned by the power of the Giff Junior Vistamp. While they are not based on specific species unlike the Deadman, they bear the name of the mysterious Giff.
  • Climax Boss: The horde of them Orteca summons in #20 effectively serve as one, with Ikki and Vice busting out all the forms they've obtained previously in order to beat them.
  • Dem Bones: In contrast to the animalistic Deadman, they have a noticeable skeletal motif. Oddly enough however, despite the Deadman's strong Mexican Day of the Dead imagery, they don't have any resemblance to Calacas.
  • Homage: Their skeletal design is one to the Shocker Combatmen.
  • Mooks: The grunts used by the Deadmans. Interestingly, dialogue about them implies they're the end result of unleashing the inner demon of someone far too weak to even be considered for sacrificing to Giff.
  • Paper Master: Themed after crumpled paper balls, in contrast to the Deadman's origami.

    Gifftarians

Portrayed by: Unknown (voice)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_gifftarian.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_gifftarian_true.png
Gifftarian (TRUE)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krre_hell_gifftarian.png
Hell Gifftarian

The Deadmans' elite soldiers, summoned via the power of the original Giff Stamp.

  • Blade Below the Shoulder: They can protrude a sword called Faregud from their forearms.
  • Bright Is Not Good: The Gifftarians (TRUE) are brightly-colored in contrast to their original variant. They're also more powerful than the original, and retain the vicious sadism they're known for.
  • Dark Is Evil: Unlike the colourful Deadmen and the predominantly white Giff Juniors, Gifftarians are almost completely dark in colour. The "evil" part is demonstrated by the first Gifftarian commenting that the human it was born from was delicious, which disgusts Vice.
  • Doom Troops: The spiky, formidable look these demons have should make it clear they aren't your typical Mook.
  • Eaten Alive: The fate of anyone sacrificed to the Giff Stamp is to be completely consumed by the Gifftarian they play host to. Judging by the reaction of the first host shown on screen, it's not painless either.
  • Elite Mooks: Summoned from the more powerful Giff Stamp, and surpasses the Giff Junior grunts in terms of power, being more comparable to a Monster of the Week. Giff can also create even stronger Palette Swapped Gifftarians (TRUE) from himself, who are powerful enough that only by becoming Thunder Gale can Revice hope to take them down.
  • Fusion Dance: Fusing multiple Gifftarians together creates an even stronger "Hell Gifftarian".
  • Heads I Win, Tails You Lose: Their existence seems to be this: if they win, good for the Deadmans. If they're destroyed? Giff consumes their essence and his revival is progressed.
  • Healing Factor: They can regenerate lost limbs. Unlike most Rider characters with this power, though, it never seems to help with actually winning a fight, just with making their defeats gorier.
  • Homage: Their color scheme and status as an Elite Mook harkens back to the Gel-Shocker Combatmen, further heightened by the Gifftarians (TRUE) adding bright yellow accents to their body, similar to how Gel-Shocker Combatmen had yellow gloves and boots.
  • Human Sacrifice: They're born by sacrificing a human to the Giff Stamp, and not only are they distinct from the person they're born from, said person is Killed Off for Real and leaves no body behind after they're destroyed.
  • King Mook: The Hell Gifftarian, a specialized Gifftarian much more powerful than the regular variants and also intelligent enough to be capable of speech.
  • Knight of Cerebus: As every time a Gifftarian is born a person is Killed Off for Real and the Gifftarian will often rub it in by leaving a comment on how delicious the human it just ate was, the mood of the show darkens whenever one is created. And unlike the Deadmen and Gifftex, who can be saved, there is no bringing their hosts back from the dead.
  • Purple Is Powerful: The Giff Stamp-created Gifftarians are mostly purple and are strong Elite Mooks. The Hell Gifftarian also has a mostly purple color scheme, just like the original Gifftarians, and is powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with most of the Riders, including Holy Live.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Officially their term is spelt as "Gifftarian", but pronounced similarly to "Gift-Alien".
  • Visual Pun: They greatly resemble Moloch horridus, commonly known as "thorny devils".
  • What Happened to the Mouse?:
    • While the formation of the first was actually shown in #1 from exposition footage of the first archaeologist who discovered and used the Giff Stamp, it was never shown what happened to the Gifftarian that was created from that incident.
    • The second Gifftarian was sent crashing into a wall from the Wolf Deadman Riot's punch... and was never seen again after that. The huge splatter of purple Alien Blood it left on the wall as well as the brief shot of it lying motionless on the ground implies it was killed in one punch.
  • The Worf Effect: While the first few were dangerous and they still fare better than the Giff Juniors, they quickly become more of a threat because of killing their host off for good, and the fact that each one dying feeds Giff, rather than their actual combat ability. Their disposable nature also makes Gifftarians the victim of choice when a new character or upgrade wants to make a particularly brutal debut. Notably, Kamen Rider Geats manages to defeat some of them with his base form, while it took Revice upgrading to the Thunder Gale Vistamp to stand a chance against them.

    Deadman
Inner demons that are given life and a physical appearance when a Vistamp is used on a human, basing their forms on latent animal DNA in humans and coming out of their bodies as a contract before folding into their tangible forms.
  • The Berserker: If a Gifftex is made to fall into despair or blind fury, they may assume a "Riot Form" and go on a feral rampage, as seen with Julio.
  • Enemy Within: All of them are inner demons of humans given physical form through Vistamps.
  • Evolutionary Levels: The Deadmen have four states seen so far, Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4. Phase 1 Deadmen are bulkier and origami themed while Phase 2 Deadmen fuse with their human hosts to become more humanoid. Phase 3, or Gifftex, requires the host to make a contract with Giff. If he deems them worthy, he grants them more power and the ability to switch between their human and Phase 2 Deadman forms. Phase 4 are Deadman who literally fuse with Giff.
  • Fusion Dance: A human can fuse with their Deadman by stamping a secondary contract they create with the Vistamp, creating a Phase 2 Deadman. Aguilera believes that the fusion is permanent, but George reveals that a simple Rider Kick can separate the human from the Deadman.
  • Horns of Villainy: A common trait of Phase 2 Deadmen are multiple horns taken from a separate animal.
  • Informed Species: Phase 2 Deadmen look almost nothing like the animals they are supposed to be based off, despite retaining their abilities.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: All Deadman share one of three lower bodies; either a reptilian one, an insectoid one, or a furry mammalian one, that with the sole exception of the Type B Brachio Deadman always clashes with the animal that they're based on (e.g., the Rex Deadman has a furry lower body). This trait goes up to eleven when in their Phase 2 forms.
  • Monster of the Week: They are the monsters Revi and Vice have to contend with each episode.
  • Paper Master: They're themed after origami, due to being physically formed from the Magically-Binding Contract papers that created them.
  • Villain in a White Suit: The Gifftex (Phase 3) Deadmen appear to be wearing white clothing, as an extension of the paper motif; for example, the Wolf Deadman wears a white swallowtail jacket, whilst the Daiouika Deadman wears a white hood that resembles a raincoat.

Mammoth Deadman

A mammoth-themed Deadman created by Aguilera using the Mammoth Vistamp on an escaped convict.

Rex Deadman

A Tyrannosaurus rex-themed Deadman that was accidentally created by Hiromi Kadota when he used the Rex Vistamp on himself in an attempt to transform into Kamen Rider Revi.

Kamakiri Deadman

A praying mantis-themed Deadman created when Orteca offered the Kamakiri Vistamp to Ibata, a frustrated caddy for a pro golfer.

Megalodon Deadman

A Megalodon-themed Deadman created from the Megalodon Vistamp by disgraced pro golfer Araki after he saw the demons' power in action and was encouraged to go seek out the Deadmans cult by Vice.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: True to its namesake, the Megalodon Deadman sports a pair of sharp teeth and can fire them at will. Also, it can quickly replace the ones it fired.

Kong Deadman

The second Kong Deadman created from the same host, Ayaka Oketani, later fused with her through a secondary contract to evolve into its Phase 2 form.

  • All Webbed Up: Can fire webbing from it's mouth to immobilize opponents.

Batta Deadman

A grasshopper-themed Deadman created from a boy named Junpei when he used his newly acquired Batta Vistamp on himself.

From the Kamen Rider Saber episode When A New Page Opens.

Lion Deadman

A lion-themed Deadman created from a Bituber named Bon (real name Masao) from the Lion Vistamp which was stolen from Fenix the night earlier.

Kangaroo Deadman

A kangaroo-themed Deadman created from a corrupt defense lawyer named Yasushi Kudo from the Kangaroo Proto Vistamp, given to him by Orteca.
  • Boxing Kangaroo: Its main method of fighting.
  • Cartoon Bomb: Can summon one as an alternative attack.
  • The Conspiracy: Is working for one as The Brute; Kudo was in cahoots with a judge, helping them provide favorable verdicts to the former's clients by threatening key witnesses to not appear for hearings.
  • Stealth Pun: A kangaroo involved in some miscarriage of justice? One could say it's a kangaroo court.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Revice destroys its boxing gloves before finishing it off.

Cheetah Deadman

A cheetah-themed Deadman created from a hospital director named Koji Maezono from the Cheetah Vistamp. It first appears in its Phase 2 form, having evolved at some point offscreen.
  • Fragile Speedster: Was difficult to defeat because it could outrun nearly anything. Once it faced something that can keep up with its agility, however (like Revice's Jackal Genome), it lost pretty quickly despite being a Level 2 Deadman.
  • Super-Speed: As befitting a cheetah.

Brachio Deadman

A series of brachiosaurus-themed Deadmen created by Kagero from a trio of scammers.
  • Fusion Dance: The three Brachio Deadmen can fuse into one (Type-Union), not unlike that of Kamen Rider Zi-O Trinity.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: The last three copies made after the first was destroyed vary by their head weapons and lower bodies; one with a chainsaw neck and an animal-type lower body (Type-A), another with a cannon mouth and a reptile-type lower body (Type-B), and the last with a drill for a head and an insect-type lower body (Type-C).
  • Walking Tank: They're themed after tanks, with tank thread-like drapings on their bodies. Type-B is most explicit in the resemblence due to its cannon head.

Planarian Deadman (I)

A series of planarian-themed Deadmen created from Amahiko Haitani, a recruiter for the Deadmans, sent to partner and fuse with his chosen candidates should they agree to a Phase 2 contract with it.
  • Body of Bodies: In its level 1 form, the parts of its upper body that isn't made from paper appears to be made from thousands of the tiny insectoid faces that all Deadmen have, which it can launch as projectiles. Its level 2 form retains this trait, with faces all over the back of its head and forearms and faces where its eyes would be.
  • From a Single Cell: Or rather, from a single host. Haitani states that its Healing Factor nature allows him to endlessly generate as many of it as he needs from himself, essentially being capable of being mass-manufactured.
  • Healing Factor: Its ability to heal from attacks made defeating it a handful even for Remixed Brachio Revice and Live, in its Level 1 form.
  • Institutional Apparel: Its level 2 form appears to be wearing a white straitjacket, based on the two bound extra arms in front of its chest.

Shark and Elephant Deadmen

A pair of Deadmen created from the Shark and Elephant Proto Vistamps.
  • Cruel Elephant: The Elephant Deadman, who appropriately enough is vicious, deadly and violent.
  • Never the Obvious Suspect: Their contract holders were initially thought to be rival comedy duo "Pavlov's Dogs", only for it to be revealed that both of them actually share a contract holder, that being Mayu Tominaga.
  • Palette Swap:
    • The Shark Deadman is a red repaint of the Megalodon Deadman modified to resemble a hammerhead shark, with the insectoid lower body instead of the mammalian one.
    • The Elephant Deadman is a blue repaint of the Mammoth Deadman with the reptilian lower body instead of the insectoid one.
  • So Last Season: Both of them sharing the same contract holder should make said holder exceptionally powerful, but by the time they appear, Phase 1 Deadmen have been completely invalidated as threats by how many upgrades the Riders have gotten, with the only reason for them even standing enough of a chance to require a new upgrade being that Vice kept getting headaches.
  • Threatening Shark: The Shark Deadman, a vile, threatening shark monster.

Rafflesia Deadman

A Rafflesia flower-themed Deadman created from popular voice actor Subaru Kimura, using the Rafflesia Proto Vistamp.

  • Beware the Silly Ones: It looks and acts in a rather goofy manner, but the Rafflesia Deadman is no weakling; in addition to being empowered by Giff, its foul-smelling gas can be used to make its victims enter an illusion based on their memories, which can lead to them rampaging in reality and hurt others trying to restrain them.
  • Foul Flower: An evil Deadman themed after a Rafflesia flower. Fitting the species it's based on, it's also foul in the literal sense.
  • Gasshole: It can emit a foul-smelling gas to disorient its enemies, complete with a farting sound when it does so.
  • Homage: To the cocksumb-themed Doctor Kate from Kamen Rider Stronger.
  • Poisonous Person: It can shoot blobs of purple toxins that emit a hallucinatory mist when they burst upon impact.

  • Love Makes You Evil: Her terror at possibly losing her young son to a grave illness spurs her allegiance to the Deadmans, even forming a contract with a Planarian Deadman.
