Come on! Y-M-M-V! Come on! Y-M-M-V! Come on! Y-M-M-V!

Buddy Up!

  • Accidental Innuendo: Extending from the series it was based on, the Mythology Gag transformation announcement of the Kamen Rider Den-O-based Mammoth Genome ("A climax from the trunk!") actually comes off worse when one realises that mammoth/elephant trunks are usually used for spraying.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Due to him trying to eat two different family members of his host when the opportunities first presented themselves, some fans have come to view Vice less as Ikki's Enemy Within and Enemy Without and more as the Anthropomorphic Personification of Ikki's regrets for giving up his soccer career dreams in order to help with the family bathhouse, and the resentment he has towards the rest of his family for being able to live their dreams freely at his expense. This seems to be further compounded with the reveal of Kagero's existence, having been created from Daiji's feelings of jealousy towards Ikki. However, with it being revealed that Vice had manifested far before this, it doesn't seem to be the case.
      • Another possible interpretation is that Vice pretended to be "evil" on purpose in order to convince Ikki not to use him, due to being fully aware of the price the latter had to pay for using his powers. However Ikki remains unfazed due to his Chronic Hero Syndrome, which eventually led to Vice giving up on this ruse.
    • Aguilera's interest in Sakura is open to a lot of interpretation. Does she just view her as a worthy rival, does she genuinely want to be friends with her or does she want something more?
    • Olteca starts off the Only Sane Man, but becomes significantly more willing to Kick the Dog after obtaining the Giff Stamp. While his mask may just be slipping, could it be that the stamp is influencing him somehow? Later episodes, notably #20 imply that he was The Sociopath all along. So no, the Giff Stamp probably didn't influence him.
    • Kanae Motomura, a semi-prominent Deadmans follower, gets a moment in #24 when she allows Olteca to create another Gifftarian from her and says "I'm overjoyed" right before being consumed from within. Is she truly happy to offer up her life to Olteca, or is she doubting the decision she just made and trying to reassure herself?
    • How much of Daiji's Face–Heel Turn is due to him believing subservience to Giff is the right way to go and how much of it is just him blaming Ikki for "provoking" Giff and causing many deaths including Akemi?
  • Anti-Climax Boss:
    • Gigademos gets defeated comparatively easily. Akaishi in his regular Giffdemos form was able to fight off Jeanne, Aguilera and Over Demons all at once, but despite receiving an upgrade into Gigademos, all it takes Over Demons with a bit of extra training and all of its powers used to wear him down and cripple him.
    • Granted, he's still tougher than any of the villains fought before him, but for Giff, an almighty demon god built up as the Big Bad from the very beginning and shown to be virtually invincible for most of the series, you'd expect a more climactic final battle and for it to take more than a group Rider Kick to bring him down, though this might be expected when Ikki confidently states that they can stand a chance against Giff after Ultimate Revi and Vice's debut, and that Daiji submitting to him due to thinking no one can oppose him is portrayed in the wrong.
    • Juuga is even worse as despite his imposing intro, he's defeated in two episodes almost as if he's a particularly strong Monster of the Week.
  • Arc Fatigue:
    • Ikki’s amnesia arc. It starts with being vaguely hinted at by Ikki vanishing from photographs, before being revealed in full in episode 31, having been brought up out of the blue three episodes ago. The plot only vaguely reminds us it’s a thing after that in one episode, before bringing it back to the fore in the last 5 episodes. Suffice to say, there was little investment in the arc being long term.
    • The third quarter of the show has been criticized as this, with it mostly just being the villains advancing their plans while the heroes repeatedly try (and fail) to stop them. The Daiji arc in particular is repetitive and drawn out, with episodes usually consisting of a family member yelling something at Daiji to try to get him to come back to the family and him not doing that, which is repeated numerous times, and the show gives about five different reasons for why he's acting the way he is.
    • Masumi has no less than three fake out deaths, all in different episodes, before dying for real.
  • Ass Pull:
    • Many saw the reveal of George later being firmly on the side of the Igarashi siblings as his, considering he was depicted as a very shady character and had several Jerkass moments in the first two quarters of the show. The reveal in episode 43 that Masumi transferred his inner demon to him was an attempt to rectify this, though many think that it failed, as it transparently essentially exists purely to absolve George of any wrongdoing and keep him "consistent" with his sudden character change.
      • This has the side effect of making the twist of him being the Interim Villain after Giff's defeat feel like it comes out of nowhere.
    • Similarly, Vice being a Benevolent Genie whose contract inadvertently inflicts Laser-Guided Amnesia is not hinted at given his earlier behavior, where he comes off as more an Obviously Evil demon concerned only with fulfilling his hunger and little else. Especially since his contract with Ikki is to protect Ikki's family, yet in his first appearance he tries to eat Ikki's mom.
    • The producers have been upfront in the production notes for #44 that Daiji’s post-Kagero state being retconned from “becoming more ruthless” to “incomplete and weak”, and the subsequent, drawn-out arc around it, was this.
    • Speaking of Kagero, this is how most view the revelation that he was just hiding inside the Holy Wing Vistamp, despite nothing at all indicating this was possible and his death being depicted as entirely final. Adding on to this, the reconciliation between Daiji and Kagero, which was apparently what was required from Daiji all along... despite Daiji having already attempted that with Kagero and being turned down, before being forced to kill Kagero in a duel to the death that Kagero initiated. Even before the writers admitted it, most viewers could instantly tell that this was an unplanned, last-minute retcon.
    • The fact that the Gifftexes were actually revealed to be alive in a separate dimension within Giff has been criticized as out of nowhere, as it was previously established that Gifftexes that weren't defeated by the Volcano and Hashibiroko Vistamps were Killed Off for Real, with no foreshadowing regarding how they can be brought back.
    • While movie-exclusive villains affecting the main story isn't necessarily unheard of for this franchise, the fact that the George's transformation into Juuga was implied to be influenced by Chic, a character you wouldn't even be aware of unless you watched Revice's theatrical movie or the tie-in miniseries that led up to it (which both premiered two weeks before the reveal that he wasn't just going to be a movie-exclusive villain in the first place), has rubbed a few fans the wrong way. It didn't help that Chic was hastily introduced as a justification for why George acted evil at the beginning of the show, something that was already hotly debated.
  • Awesome Art: Vade from Final Stage proves in much the same manner as Xross Saber that even Palette Swaps and repaints can be this, as it takes the Jack Revice and Crimson Vail suits and adds a painstaking amount of detail to it in the form of elaborate Tron Lines and other detailing straight out of a mecha sketch. The result is a legitimately intimidating figure that feels much like an entirely-new character despite being made from a suit used for not one, but two other characters.
  • Awesome Music:
    • The opening theme, "liveDevil" by Da-iCE featuring Subaru Kimura, is a pounding, intense piece that sets a hell of a first impression for an episode.
    • "Go With the Flo", by Kentaro Maeda (Ikki), Wataru Hyuga (Daiji), and Ayaka Imoto (Sakura), a rocking track backed with plenty of brass that serves as the "theme" of the Igarashi siblings.
    • Volcano Rex's theme, "Volcano", by Kentaro Maeda (Ikki) and Subaru Kimura (Vice) is a high paced, intense number that lets the both of them flex some impressively low vocals and exciting raps. Even with the bridge slowing down to a more carnival-like tune, the song quickly kicks back into high gear.
    • "Without You", the ending theme of Kamen Rider Revice: The Mystery lets Junya Komatsu's (Hiromi) and Kentaro Maeda's (Ikki) voices shine against a beautiful pop-rock instrumental. The DEAR GAGA version is just as potent - maybe even more so - as Junya Komatsu sings alone with a powerful orchestra.
    • Kamen Rider Vail's Leitmotif: a terrifying but epic track complete with a blaring drone akin to Prowler's theme.
    • "MY DREAM", the ending theme of Revice Legacy, is a beautiful duet sung by Yukimi's actresses Kurara Emi and Sakurako Okubo.
    • "Mirage Mirror" is Live's ending theme, being a duet between Daiji and Kagero. While it's traditional for an endgame Kamen Rider song to be a duet (or a trio), there's a meta twist that the two of them are being played by the same actor.
    • #46 gives us "Cherry-ish", the theme for Invincible Jeanne form, sung by Ayaka Imoto and Miku Itou is just pure awesome, going from fun pop-rock to surprisingly hardcore rock in a heartbeat.
    • "George Karizaki no Rider System", sung by Noritaka Hamao in-character, is essentially Kamen Rider's answer to Super Sentai Hero Getter, featuring all the Rider series from 1971 to the present day.
    • "Riot in bloom", the ending theme from Girls Remix. is a fast-paced song that shows Hana Natsuki's growth from her time as Aguilera. Mei Hanakawa really gets to show off here.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Sakura Igarashi has fans split between those who consider her to be one of the most well-written and relevant female Riders in the entire franchise and a significant step up compared to the the first two entries of the Reiwa era, and detractors who, while are happy to see a female Rider given such prominent focus, believe that she stole valuable screentime that could have been used to develop Ikki and Daiji, and that Sakura ceases to be interesting herself after the two-episode arc introducing her Rider form, with her arc being largely held up by the character development she inspires in Hana. This isn't helped by how her faction WEEKEND ends up becoming the de facto good guy faction after a certain point, or the theories that her large amount of focus is due to the fact that Kinoshita wasn't allowed to make the main Rider a girl and allegations of her being a Creator's Pet.
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • However short-lived it was, Revi and Vice defeating Olteca in #20 to the point where they De-power him would still be satisfying to watch after everything he's pulled so far. Luckily his beatdown at the start #27 falls more in line with this, with it culminating in his final defeat in #28.
    • After what they've put the Igarashis through, Akaishi and Vail getting the absolute tar beaten out of them by Ultimate Revi and Vice in #41 is incredibly satisfying. This also includes Akaishi's death at the hands of Daiji and Vail's final battle with his host.
  • Common Knowledge:
    • A common misinterpretation amongst viewers was that Kagero's awakening was caused by Daiji obtaining and using the Two SiDriver. However, Kagero had been long active since earlier in episode 5, being the thief who stole the Vistamps in Fenix and giving the Lion Vistamp to its contract holder. George directly gave the inner demon the Two SiDriver when he already took over Daiji, which only served to enhance and give him a Rider form, rather than awaken him.
    • Several Filipino Facebook accounts claim that Hikaru’s Ascended Extra status is the result of Executive Meddling from his agency demanding they put one of their actors in a lead role. Aside from there being no evidence to support this, this is flawed for 3 reasons. 1) They already had an actor in a lead role, in the form of Shigeyuki Totesugi, 2) agencies have no pull over whether their actors are prominent or not and 3) Hanta Kinoshita confirmed that Hikaru’s status as an Ascended Extra was out of his own desire to do something with him, not forced upon him by anyone else.
  • Complete Monster:
    • Orteca, formerly Makoto Hatsushiba, uses Aguilera as a figurehead for the Deadmans while he leads in secret and plots to sacrifice her in the ritual to reawaken Giff. To complete the ritual, Orteca coaxes vulnerable people into merging with their inner demons to become monsters. After obtaining the Giff Stamp, Orteca begins using it to implant people with Gifftarians, which devour their hosts from the inside upon being born. Those Orteca uses the Giff Stamp on includes his own followers, as well as the best friend of Go Tamaki, as a way of punishing Tamaki for defecting. Orteca later begins directly feeding civilians to Giff in order to speed up the demon's revival, intent on merging with it to achieve his twisted dream of making the world his.
    • Vail is a sadistic demon created from Giff's cells being injected into Genta Igarashi and driven by a bloodthirsty love of killing others, whether they be humans or demons. Upon being born, Vail murdered Genta's parents and used his anger over their deaths to coax him into becoming a violent berserker, before possessing him to satiate his bloodlust. He later tricks Genta into freeing him so he can kill a group of injured soldiers. After Genta left NOAH to be with his love, Vail set fire to their bathhouse in an attempt to kill Genta's pregnant wife and two young children. Sealed inside the Demons Driver, Vail drains Hiromi's life force to break free before possessing Genta again and attempting to make him kill his three children. When Akaishi forbids him from killing the Igarashi siblings, Vail resolves to beat them within an inch of their lives instead, purely to torment Genta and satisfy his petty grudge.
    • Revice Legacy: Kamen Rider Vail prequel: Agariyama is the director of NOAH who had an untold number of kidnapped test subjects experimented on to harness Giff's cells, resulting in most of them being mutated into feral demons. When Junpei Shiranami survived the procedure, Agariyama had Vail murder his parents and used his anger over their deaths to coerce him into using the Vail Driver, resulting in him becoming mentally broken and losing his memories. When Junpei escaped and met Yukimi, Agariyama has them both captured and later orders them both executed once he deems Junpei a "failed experiment", even going so far as to personally attempt to shoot them.
  • Contested Sequel: Reception to Revice is even more varied than its predecessor Kamen Rider Saber. Fans praise Revice for having one of the strongest ensemble cast in the series, with realistic struggles, colorful personalities along with great character development citing characters such as Hiromi, Tamaki, or Hana. Its tear jerking and heart warming moments being seen as highlights of the show such as Genta and Vail's final confrontation in #42 or the final “battle” between Ikki and Vice in the finale and having one of the most unique premise in the entire series. Detractors, however, criticize Revice for dragging its feet with certain plot points especially during the final arc, having characters gaining an unreasonable amount of screentime to the point of overshadowing the titular leads such as Sakura or Hikaru, having so many poorly written and/or executed retcons such as George's arc after the defeat of Giff or Kagero's return in #44, and poorly handling its subplots (Daiji's Face–Heel Turn and the rest of the cast trying to reason with him, Ikki's memory loss) ultimately criticizing the show for not knowing what it wants to be around the second half and wasting the potential carried by its first half. Not helping matters is that Revice was also plagued with controversy and even had some of its actors criticizing its aspects .
  • Ending Fatigue: Following a fake-out death for Akaishi in episode 42, episodes 43 to 46 see repeated failed attempts to defeat Akaishi and Giff for good. After that, George becomes an Interim Villain who is defeated within two episodes, leaving another two episodes about Ikki's amnesia. Presumably at least part of this was out of a desire to have exactly 50 episodes.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Hiromi Kadota earned himself a following for being an all-around wholesome, pure-hearted dumbass and for the sincerity and raw emotion that Junya Komatsu portrays him with. He wasn't even supposed to be on the show past the first episode and yet the writers changed their minds after Komatsu gave a strong audition, making him the favorite pretty much from day one of the show's production. A character popularity poll by the Japanese website NLab Media ranks him as the absolute winner with 1845 votes out of 4528. This amounts to 40.7%, when no other character in the poll even reached 10%.
    • Lovekov quickly became popular among the fanbase due to her Moe status, to the point where she has two subreddits dedicated to her.
    • Julio is another well-loved character in the fandom despite having the smallest role of the three Deadman executives, thanks to his endearing loyalty to Aguilera, deeply sympathetic backstory, and his believable redemption arc.
    • Orteca is easily the most popular villain in the show even though he's meant to be hated and a Disc-One Final Boss, to the point where a Juuga vs Orteca special got made thanks to the positive fan reception.
  • Epileptic Trees:
    • With the evil-looking Sharp-Dressed Man near the end of the opening seeming to be Ikki, many fans came up with random theories as to what will make him end up that way if the scene were to be taken as a Spoiler Opening, the most common theory being Vice took over his body, much like Kagero with Daiji. It turns out to be far more mundane, with him simply dressing up for an interview.
    • The official website's breakdown of the Vistamps states that George adds a mysterious element called "R Factor" into Proto Vistamps retrieved from the Deadmans to make them useable for Revice. Given the opening shows George overlooking a number of Kamen Riders in stasis, many viewers deduced that if the scene were to be believed, George had actually abducted Kamen Riders to directly extract the R Factor from them, with "R" being short for "Rider".
      • This may be mitigated by the fact that #10 has Revice still managing to use a Proto Brachio Vistamp to transform into the Kamen Rider Zi-O based Brachio Genome without the R Factor, suggesting that the element may be more for fine-tuning the Vistamp for Remix use, and that the "R" is for "Remix" instead. This is seemingly confirmed the following episode with George implying that doing a Remix with a Proto Vistamp could have potentially disastrous consequences.
    • Most fans believe Evil's other Genomes are based off villainous Rider counterparts of the Riders Revice's Genomes are based off, mainly due to his Jackal Genome supposedly having its colors based off Kamen Rider Genm, while also alluding that his Bat Genome (and how Kagero interacts with his host) are references to Kamen Rider Ryuga.
    • Young Yukimi's (played by Sakurako Okubo) appearance in Revice Legacy: Kamen Rider Vail bears a startling resemblance to Misora from Kamen Rider Build; this has led fans to theorize that the two may be related.
    • Many fans have theorized that the NOAH Captain in Revice Legacy is a younger Buu-san, due to Buu-san himself stating that he was a soldier of NOAH and close to Junpei/Genta in #26, as well as the Captain himself looking reluctant at having to take Junpei and Yukimi in during Part 2. Part 3 confirms that they are indeed one and the same.
  • Evil Is Cool:
    • The Deadmans, with their flashy mariachi theming and cool designs, make for an interesting and fun lineup of villains. Aguilera is well-liked by fans for her Cute and Psycho personality, and her friendly (on her end) rivalry with Sakura, as well as for more superficial reasons. Olteca is also well-liked for being a cunning and mysterious Manipulative Bastard able to Kick the Dog while still being enjoyable to watch. Julio meanwhile has a lot of fans who enjoy him for being a lovable dork in spite of being a villain, helped by him having a sad backstory that's easy to empathize with.
    • Olteca especially seems to have become this as of becoming the second Kamen Rider Demons, using its power to easily steamroll through the Igarashi siblings.
    • Hideo Akaishi also has quite a few fans who enjoy him for how much of a deliciously hammy and effective chessmaster he is.
  • Fan-Disliked Explanation:
    • Ikki’s disappearing from photos being the result of his contract erasing the memories. Not only does the hinting not particularly imply this, but it comes off as a Voodoo Shark (why would losing memories cause you to vanish from photographic evidence of those memories?)
    • George’s earlier behaviour being the result of having his father’s Inner Demon implanted in him was decried as a weak retcon, clearly meant to absolve the writers of changing his character midway through. George's earlier explanation of Just Following Orders isn't really convincing either, and can cause inconsistency with the former.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Many fans have taken to calling the series Kamen Rider Devilman due to its Our Demons Are Different premise.
    • Revi and Vice were already collectively called "Kamen Rider Barney" due to the Tyrannosaurus Rex motif and identical color scheme.
    • Revi has been dubbed "Kamen Rider Venom" due to the mask design being evocative of the comic book character. Likewise, Vice has been dubbed "Kamen Rider Deadpool" for his Breaking the Fourth Wall tendencies.
    • Due to the suggestive design of Giff's statue as well as the Giff implant in Akaishi's hand, fans have taken to calling them the "Giffussy".
    • Hiromi Kadota has been dubbed by Japanese fans as the "Henshin Fail Uncle" due to his failure to transform in episode 1 being a major Establishing Character Moment. After being able to transform into Kamen Rider Demons 6 episodes later, he has been redubbed "Henshin Success Uncle", and has been congratulated as such. Following him being advised against transforming in #18 due to suffering Rapid Aging by repeated use of the Demons Driver, however, fans have redubbed him as "Henshin Banned Uncle", with some fans using "Henshin Banned Grandpa" due to his biological age being over 80 years old by that point.
    • The Ushijima family has been dubbed by the fandom as the "Creepy Family", due to them being Sinister Surveillance, who are cunningly spying on the Igarashis, especially Sakura.
    • The Demons Driver has been dubbed "Mr. Demons" (Demons-san) by Japanese fans after #19 reveals it's actually a sentient demon and can speak, gleefully telling Hiromi to transform so that it can feast on his life.
    • Olteca received the nickname "Superior Demons" upon gaining the Demons Driver.
    • Due to the similar red/blue coloring and polarity theming of their finishers, Giffard Rex is often referred to as Magnet States.
    • Kamen Rider Destream has been dubbed "Dadstream".
    • For Kamen Rider fans who are familiar with Formula One, Kamen Rider Evil's overall color scheme seems to invoke the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team and their cars the W11 and W12, hence the name "Mercedes-Evil". Hell, even Jackal Genome's purple coloration seems to bring to mind Lewis Hamilton's helmets during the 2020 season of F1.
  • Fanon: A number of fans have taken Kamen Rider Evil to be Kagero's "Demon form" due to his lack of a physical form outside of Daiji's body. It helps that the icons for the Igarashi family's Kamen Riders are made of a mix of the Rider and their respective inner demons' faces, and Daiji/Kagero's shared one uses Evil's face for its design. This seems to have become Ascended Fanon for the movie as, while Vice simply has recolored eyes and Lovekov has a more humanoid appearance, Kagero is just in his Rider form.
  • Fashion-Victim Villain:
    • While Julio's big sombrero is perfectly in line with the Deadmans' flamboyant mariachi style, his bowl cut is less so. However, his nerdy hairstyle may have been deliberate Foreshadowing at his origins as a shy, quiet outcast before becoming a Gifftex. Things don't get much better for him when he joins Weekend, as his new outfit makes him look more like a gang-banger rather than a member of an underground resistance.
    • Giff's true form has been accused of this, with some fans saying he looks like a Giff Junior in a pimp outfit.
  • Genius Bonus:
    • Jeanne's Hashibirokō Genome being able to separate Phase 3 Deadmen from their contract holders is a reference to the shoebill's scientific name, Balaeniceps rex, making it a Rex in name and thus possessing the same power as Volcano Rex.
    • The finisher effects for Giffard Rex resembles mitotic spindles in cell division, fitting how the stamp itself needs to be split into two to be used.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Vice peering into Hiromi's mind and seeing him internally bawling his eyes out like a baby in #10? Hilarious. Hiromi openly breaking down when the fake Wakabayashi reveals his Kill and Replace plan in #14? Absolutely heartbreaking.
    • Julio's habit of telling Aguilera to smile was initially funny, especially considering that he always got a slap from her in response and many fans have interpreted it as a stealth Take That! towards the same year's Ultra Hero who has "Smile, smile" as a catchphrase. However, it's revealed that he got this habit from his estranged friend Yosuke, and it would become Yosuke's last words in #18 when Olteca murders him right in front of Julio just as the two reach a reconciliation. When Aguilera tells him to smile by the end of the episode, all he can do is weep bitterly for Yosuke.
    • Aguilera and Sakura's habit of tracking each other down without permission is a bit hard to watch after Aguilera's actress, Mei Hanakawa, became the victim of stalking in real life and her agency did nothing about it (not even calling the police), forcing her to stay with a friend for safety and promptly leaving her agency at the end of August 2022.
  • He's Just Hiding: After Hiromi gets blasted off a cliff by Olteca, many fans speculated that he might not actually be dead, due to him not getting the proper "exit flowers bouquet" like any another exiting actor, and suspect a similar situation to Takatora Kureshima. He is later confirmed to have indeed survived by the spinoff DEAR GAGA, and then returns to the show proper at the end of #37.
  • He Really Can Act:
    • Wataru Hyuga is perfectly decent as Daiji during the first few episodes, portraying his character's frustrations and fears under a veneer of stoicism and care. When Kagero is introduced to the scene, Hyuga proves himself to be scarily good at completely embodying Kagero's tranquil sadism. He then has flip between Daiji and Kagero in a heartbeat in the following episodes after Kagero's defeat, and he does so flawlessly.
    • Junya Komatsu does perfectly well in portraying Hiromi's hardass, yet awkward demeanor throughout the first arc. #14 then has a gut-wrenching scene where it's revealed that "Wakabayashi" is actually the Chameleon Deadman and the real one was killed off during the events of the first episode. Komatsu absolutely nails Hiromi's utter desperation and heartbreak, overtaking the whole scene with raw emotion.
    • Kazuya Tanabe earned the awe of many fans with his performance when the Chameleon Deadman reveals itself as Wakabayashi, and the Chameleon Deadman itself subsequently after. He even flawlessly imitates Ayumu Kato's expressions when filming the scene of him returning to his true form.
    • Kurodo Hachijoin does an excellent job portraying Julio's sorrow over his friend's death, especially in the scene where he breaks down after being purified from his Deadman form.
    • Shigeyuki Totsugi manages to perfectly switch between a desperate, pleading father and the sadistic demon possessing him.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Kamen Rider Fourze was originally supposed to be a legacy anniversary season to celebrate the 40th anniversary, but they scrapped the idea since three seasons ago, they already did it with Kamen Rider Decade. Now, three years after the last legacy anniversary season (Kamen Rider Zi-O), Revice ends up being one for the 50th anniversary!
      • Speaking of Fourze, in the omake video series Kamen Rider x Super Sentai: Super Hero Taihen - Who’s the Culprit, Fourze susses out the killer of Decade, W and Momotaros to be Eitoku, a suit actor who played primarily secondary Riders, who wanted to escape being “Number Two”. With the arrival of Kamen Rider Jack Revice, he’s finally become a Primary Rider, without resorting to murder, only hijacking the body of the main.
    • Kamen Rider Vice brings the Artifact Title of Kamen Rider up to eleven, as not only is he another one that becomes the vehicle (a hoverbike at that) for another Kamen Rider, he isn't "masked" either, as all his forms leave his face fully exposed. Ironically he does wear a cloth face mask when he isn't transformed.
    • In the very first series, the luchador-themed Combatmen became a standard for Shocker after its Mexican branch was introduced. Now, the Deadmans, this show's antagonists, has Mexican influence as their entire motif.
    • Aguilera taking an interest in Sakura makes a lot of sense considering that her actress Mei Hanakawa originally auditioned for the role of Sakura.
    • The Rolling Vistamp has the announcement of "Knuckle Up", voiced by Vice's actor. Soon after its debut, Subaru was cast as Knuckles in the Japanese dub of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022).
    • Episode 28 features Giff slapping Aguilera with one of its "hands". When the 94th Academy Awards ceremony aired the next day, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife's alopecia condition.
    • Prior to the reveal of Sakura's Rider form, a strong rumor going around about her Rider form was that it would be themed around a fox/kitsune of some degree. While not accurate for this season, the following one would indeed have a Rider with that motif.
    • The first few episodes established that Daiji was the original candidate for using the Revice Driver. A year after the series premiere, he does indeed get to use the Revice Driver, though only due to the Two SiDriver being destroyed.
    • In Kamen Rider Outsiders, George would go on to create the Zein Driver. Kamen Rider Zein being designed after N-Daguva-Zeba is no coincidence given how George based his own Rider form on Kuuga Ultimate, and the jokes regarding his actor being born at the time of Kuuga's airing.
  • Ho Yay:
    • Aguilera seems quite interested in Sakura and invested getting her to join the Deadmans. After their first fight in #8 she even says they'll "play more later" and they share several other moments that come across as flirting. #33 adds even more moments; Sakura invites Aguilera to go on a date at an amusement park before their inevitable final duel, and the conclusion of their final battle has Aguilera outright tell Sakura she loved her, only for Sakura to tell her to drop the past tense and successfully De-power her. Later on, they take a bath together, before splashing each other, all while Lovekov continuously says "Love." Additionally, "Riot in bloom" (Hana's insert from the Girls Remix spin-off) reads a lot like a Love Confession song from Hana to Sakura. While supposedly they were written as "being like sisters", many feel that they come across as girlfriends instead—especially given that the official Kamen Rider Instagram has made posts like this and this.
  • I Am Not Shazam:
    • Viewers have a habit of mistaking that Ikki alone is Kamen Rider Revice and that the title refers to him as the only protagonist of this series. Revice is actually the portmanteau Team Title of Kamen Rider Revi and Kamen Rider Vice, and Vice is established to be as much of the protagonist as Ikki is. This isn't helped with the fact that prior to their trailer dropping, nothing was said about Vice and the only thing fans had to go with was their spot on the poster for Kamen Rider Saber + Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger Super Hero Senki and the name of Revice, though calling that Vice was the secondary Rider.
      • The Barid Rex Vistamp's transformation announcement is explicit in naming who is the Rider transforming. George is still miffed with Vice's criticism of Jackal Genome so he just defaults Vice into Rex Genome.
"Baribari up! My name is! Kamen Rider! Reva! Va! Va! Vi! Revi! Revi! Reva! Va! Va! Vi! Revi!"
      • It comes up again with the debut of the Thunder Gale Vistamp. Many assume the associated form is called "Revice Thunder Gale Genome", when actually the form is simply known as "Revice".
      • And again with the debut of the Giffard Rex Vistamp. It is also assumed that the associated form would be called "Giffard Rex Genome", when in reality the form is known as "Ultimate Revi" for Side N and "Ultimate Vice" for Side S. The transformation announcement also makes it clear that Revi and Vice are separate Riders as one team.
"Ultimate up! Afuredasu (Overflowing!) atsuki jounetsu (Hot passion!)! (Ittaizentai! Hyouri ittai! Uchuu no chikara wa mugendai!) Kamen Rider (Kamen Rider Revi!) Vice! Let's go, come on! Giffa— (Giffa—) Giffard Rex!"
    • According to the TV-Asahi website, Deadman (singular) refers to the Monster of the Week, while Deadmans (plural) refers to the antagonist cult that worships them. Due to this terminology, some fans have taken to use Deadmen as the actual plural term for the monsters.
  • I Knew It!:
    • Many fans guessed correctly that the NOAH Captain from Revice Legacy was a younger Buu-san.
    • Many fans noticed the Week Endriver Tamaki obtains in previews for episode 36 has a dripping honey-like design covering the screen and theorised it wasn't meant for him and the Buffalo Vistamp (which additionally is already based on Kamen Rider OOO), but for Hana with the Queen Bee Vistamp instead. The episode itself confirms this with Hana using it to transform into Kamen Rider Aguilera.
    • The Vail Driver receiving an upgrade to convert Kamen Rider Vail into the heroic Destream was predicted as early as its debut when fans noticed empty sockets for an attachment on the side of the unit.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Aguilera is a Cute and Psycho cult figurehead, but it's hard not to sympathize with her on some level given how she was indoctrinated into the Deadmans from childhood, and given a warped view on concepts such as love and happiness.
  • LGBT Fanbase: Kamen Rider is no stranger to Ho Yay, but the colors of Revi greatly resemble the trans flag (and later on, his upgrade form resembles the colors of the bisexual flag). Combined with Zenkaizer having a rainbow color scheme (the umbrella color of the LGBT Community), many fans have commented that this would be the LGBT Super Hero Time.
    • This is taken even farther by Aguilera's storyline, with her beginning as a flat-out antagonist, then friendly rival to Sakura, culminating in the above mentioned Love Confession.
  • Like You Would Really Do It: Hiromi, the first Kamen Rider Demons, ends up falling to what seemed to be his death. However, thanks in part to the writing conventions for most Kamen Rider shows, his Ensemble Dark Horse status, and the Demons Driver leaking the transformation call for a Kamen Rider named Over Demons, people were not convinced he died... Sure enough, it's revealed he survived but chilling in his hometown for a bit before returning to the show, though Over Demons ended up being someone else entirely.
  • Love to Hate:
    • Olteca's nonchalance while engaging in anything, be it dog kicking, mocking someone or scheming, is as loathsome as it is fun to watch. His creepy charm and obvious enjoyment of whatever atrocity he is currently committing also helps.
    • Vail is incredibly psychopathic, even for a demon, but with how unapologetically sadistic he is and the aura of intimidation he brings to almost every scene he's in, he's a very fun villain to root against. Being voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda helps a lot too.
  • Memetic Badass:
    • It's becoming increasingly common for fans to portray Genta as a Jack of All Trades badass who is far stronger than all of his children and knows more about the Vistamps than George. It's helped by his actor saying there's more to him than meets the eye in an interview and #16 revealing he has no heart, and hinting at a connection to Giff. And then in #25 Genta's badass status is proven to be completely true as he's not only revealed to be the host for Vail and ridiculously strong as the original demonic Kamen Rider, he physically resists and stops Vail before he can harm his children.
    • Lovekov's getting this treatment as well combined with Memetic Psychopath, due to sharing a cobra motif with Ouja and Evolto, two of the franchise's biggest villains. There's fanart depicting her holding the Blackhole Trigger and the Progrise Hopper Blade, or have her actually be Evolto in disguise. Even the official blog for the So-Do line of candy toys joined the action with a post featuring Lovekov's figurine holding Mumeiken Kyomu.
    • Similar to Genta, fans have take to boasting about Hiromi's badassery. A lot of this came from him being just so popular, being nicknamed "the Chad Hiromi" and variations thereof, despite his below mentioned many instances of The Worf Effect. However, once he evenly matched Holy Live in the Demons base state and knocked him out of his transformation, while still having his frail body at that, this trope came back.
  • Memetic Loser:
    • Due to continuously being manhandled whenever a new Kamen Rider appears (aside from himself as Kamen Rider Demons), there are often jokes about the various ways Hiromi Kadota gets screwed over when a new Kamen Rider appears, to the point some joke over him potentially dying being this year's Christmas tragedy for Kamen Rider.
    • Due to his reduced screen time and poor track record, many have started to see Daiji as this. People began joking that Sakura was more the show's secondary Rider, while Daiji essentially took over Hiromi's role as the show's punching bag.
  • Memetic Mutation: See here.
  • Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales: Several Latino fans loved the idea of Deadmans' Mexican theme, from the chief members having tequila Theme Naming to the foot soldiers being skeletal in appearance to invoke the Day of the Dead.
  • Moe:
    • Vice's Rider Forms are often quite adorable, with a stitching design that makes him look "fluffy." Taken up to eleven with his Kangaroo Genome form, which turns him into a tiny baby in a kangaroo costume.
    • Lovekov after her reveal has endeared her to many audiences. Vice even lampshades that her cuteness could make her surpass him in popularity.
    • Aguilera, though in a Cute and Psycho kind of way. You wouldn't assume she was a maniacal cult leader from first glance, at least.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Olteca definitely crosses the line by turning Julio's former friend Yosuke into a Gifftarian just before the two could reconcile, all while flashing a gleeful Slasher Smirk at Julio, leading Julio to devolve into becoming a Riot Deadman. After Julio is purified by Revice, Olteca further punctuates it by trying to kill the now-defenseless Julio while he's mourning his friend.
    • Vail definitely crossed it when he possessed Genta and forced him to set fire to his bathhouse in an attempt to kill his whole family, trying to murder a pregnant woman and two young children out of spite.
  • Most Wonderful Sound:
    • Just look at the Revice Driver and its stamps. It's default transformation is an absolute bop to bang your head to. Oh, and it's catchy as well.
"Rex! [stamp] Come on! R-R-R-Rex! Come on! R-R-R-Rex!" (Ikki inserts stamp on Driver before cranking it sideways) "Buddy up!!! Ohin! Shonin!note  Rolling! Going! KAMEN RIDER! Revi! Vice! Revice!!!"
    • The Demons Driver as well, thanks to the deep voice by Kenjiro Tsuda and the deep-pitched Computer Voice accompanying it.
"Deal. (Ominous Ethereal Choir) Decide Up! Deep. (FUKAKU.) Drop. (OCHIRU.) Danger. (KIKI. KAMEN.) Rider. DEMONS!"
    • The Two SiDriver has a hefty load of catchy jingles for every transformation.
      • When transforming into Kamen Rider Evil, the driver brings in dark rock and roll for a spine-chilling yet thrilling tune/rap.
"Versus Up! Madness! Hopeless! Darkness! Bat! Hehe! Kamen Rider EVIL!!! Yeah-haha!"
      • This same driver when transforming into Kamen Rider Live has a gloriously heroic sounding jingle.
"Versus Up! Precious! Trust us! Justice! Bat! Kamen Rider Li~ve~!"
      • And then we have the transformation into Holy Live.
"Wing Up! Holy Up! Wind! Wing! Winning! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy Live!"
      • And then we have the awe-inspiring transformation into EvilytyLive.
"Perfect Wing! (Daiji stamps on his driver) Confirm! (triplet techno pop jingle) Wings for the future! (Future!) Wings for the future! (Future!)" (Daiji/Kagero draws out their driver's weapon and pushes the top lever) "Fly high!" (pull the trigger) "Perfect Up!!! Hehehe-Hahaha! Kamen Rider Evilyty-Live!!!!! I'M PERFECT!!!"
    • The Libera Driver doesn't have a lot of jingles, but they make up for it by being unique, especially with a female singer.
      • When transforming into Kamen Rider Jeanne, the female vocals are a beautiful Japanese rock song powerhouse symbolizing Sakura's strength by admitting her vulnerabilities.
"Liberal Up! Ah~ Going my way! Kamen Rider Ja-Ja-Ja-Jeanne!"
      • And then we have the transformation into Invincible Jeanne, featuring faster female vocals and a beautiful pounding, jarring rock song.
"Hyper Liberal Up! We are! We are! Kamen Rider! Invincible— Ja-Ja-Ja-Ja-Ja-Ja-Jeanne!!!"
    • Hana's Week Endriver brings in a booming J-pop music vibe for its transformation.
"Subvert Up! W-ow! Just believe in myself! Kamen Rider—Ah! AGUILERAAAAA!"
    • The Destream Driver's transformation jingle, a more hopeful-sounding take on Demons' and Vail's jingle that sounds just as amazing, if not even more so:
"Contract! (fast-paced techno music) Spirit Up! Slash! Sting! Spiral! Strong! Kamen Rider Destream!"
    • Giffard Rex's jingle is the culmination of every single transformation melody into a triumphant musical masterpiece of ultimate power.
"Giffard Rex! [Ikki and Vice stamp their respective stamps on their drivers] BIG BANG! Come on! Giffard Rex!" (Ikki and Vice insert their stamps and crank them sideways) "ULTIMATE UP!!! Afuredasu (Overflowing!) atsuki jounetsu! (Hot passion!) Ittaizentai! Hyouri ittai! Uchuu no chikara wa mugendai!note  KAMEN RIDER... REVI! VICE! Let's go, come on! Giffaaa... (Giffaaa...) GIFFAAARD REEEEEXXX!!!!!!!"
    • The Chimera Driver brings some rather catchy, straight-forward rock tunes for its transformations.
      • First up, the twin Chimera transformation has a pounding melody and beat for its transformation and standby.
"Twin Chimera!" (stamp is placed on the driver's holder) "King, Dile! Come on! Chimera, Chimera, Chimera! King, Dile! Come on! Chimera, Chimera, Chimera!" (stamp is cranked sideways) "SCRAMBLE! King crab! Crocodile! Kamen Rider Chimera! CHIMERA!!!!"
      • Then there's its terrifying demonic riff to announce the tri-Chimera transformation...
"Tri-Chimera!" (Azuma places the stamp on the driver's holder) "Oc, Sai, Mukade! Come on! Chimera, Chimera, Chimera! Oc, Sai, Mukade! Come on! Chimera, Chimera, Chimera!" (Azuma cranks the stamp sideways) "SCRAMBLE! Octopus!!! Kurosai!!! Oomukade!!!note  Kamen Rider Daimon, DAIMON, DAIMOOON!!!!!"
    • The Juuga Driver's transformation jingle is a more ominous-sounding version of the Chimera Driver's pounding techno beat...
"JUUGA! (George puts in the Juuga Vistamp) Rex! Megalodon! Eagle! Mammoth! Ptera! Lion! Jackal! Kong! Kamakiri! Brachio!" (George cranks the stamp sideways) "Scramble! Tokusa no idenshi tsuyoki kokorozashi! Hazero! Hoero! Choetsuseyo!note  KAMEN...RIDER...JUUGA!!!!!! Go over..."
  • Narm:
    • As mentioned in Fashion-Victim Villain, Tamaki’s fashion sense is almost exaggeratedly nerdy, to the point of parody.
    • The Weekend uniforms have been derided for looking ridiculous, but Tamaki makes them even more ridiculous by wearing his cravat as a headband.
    • Akaishi’s performance was clearly written for a Large Ham who has moments of stoic behaviour, but the actor playing him plays most of his scenes deadly straight, with the more serious ones having him go full ham. As a result, many fail to find anything threatening about him.
    • Over Demons’ debut was likely intended as a moment of awesome, but the abruptness of it, combined with Hikaru being practically a non-entity beforehand, kills any real emotion for it.
    • Masumi Karizaki continuing to wear his mask even while switching to surgeons’ clothes just looks patently ridiculous, and detracts from the seriousness of the scene. George helping his father up when the former collapses under the stress of the operation isn't any better either, as the camera immediately pans out to reveal he's wearing crocs in the operating room.
    • Daiji getting hit in the head with a soft drink can, which is the final straw and spurs him to try to destroy the Weekend shelter. However, it actually makes a bonk sound effect, which really undermines the seriousness of the scene, and many viewers were more amazed that the unnamed civilian managed to nail such a perfect headshot from his range and angle.
    • The name of Evil and Live's combined Super Mode is "Evilytylive." It's simultaneously a bit of a mouthful, goofy sounding and comes across as total gibberish.
  • Narm Charm: The Two SiDriver may have a simple kids' phrase/counting rhyme in its transformation standby jingle, but it recites that line as frantically and creepily as possible which only adds to the horror that leads to Kamen Rider Evil's advent.
Two SiDriver: "Eenie Meenie Miney Mo! Eenie Meenie Miney Mo!"
    • Live uses the same rhyme, though in Daiji's case it's sung in a way that is both hilarious and endearing. It perfectly matches his theme of heroism.
Two SiDriver: "Eenie Meenie Miney... Mo! Eenie Meenie Miney... Mo!"
  • Platonic Writing, Romantic Reading: As indicated by several of the Les Yay entries above, many fans interpreted Sakura and Hana's relationship as romantic, despite the writers intending to write them with a sibling-like relationship. It absolutely does not help that Reika comments that they seem "sisterly-like" considering her own tendencies related to her brother. Further not helping the fumbling of the writing is merchandise with the two following Hana becoming a Kamen Rider being hard to not read as being ship like, up to the point of actual wedding rings with the duo's respective Rider symbols on it.
  • The Scrappy:
    • Hikaru Ushijima was originally an extra character until he suddenly gained focus, which many fans felt was undeserved and should've gone to other characters, with the primary ones being George and especially Tamaki. He's often negatively compared to Tamaki because his motivation was also to protect a female character, but whereas Tamaki had a touching reason for wanting to protect Hana, Hikaru did not. He's also disliked by Hiromi and George fans for taking the Demons Driver. Even his character arc after his parents' deaths did little to help things, namely because most felt it was too rushed.
    • Giff is generally disliked by fans for being an underdeveloped Generic Doomsday Villain who is never given a concrete backstory or personality, as well as having an extremely ugly kaijin form which makes him hard to take seriously as a threat even after he finally takes action. The fact that he dies after just three episodes after doing so, and rather easily at that, just adds further insult to injury, with many declaring him one of the weakest villains in the entire franchise to debate. That he ends up ahead of fan favourites like Orteca, Vail, and Akaishi doesn't help.
  • Shocking Moments:
    • #14 gives one hell of a shocker with The Reveal that not only is Commander Wakabayashi actually the Chameleon Deadman, but the latter has actually pulled a Kill and Replace on the former since Revice's first transformation.
    • #16 has a FENIX doctor present George a MRI scan of Genta's chest, showing that he somehow doesn't have a human heart. This has even more disturbing implications as earlier in that same episode, it was demonstrated that the statue of Giff itself was giving off vibrations similar to that of a heartbeat.
    • #25 has Genta transforming into Kamen Rider Vail. And that's arguably the least notable thing to take note of in this episode.
    • #42 debuts Crimson Vail and an upgraded version of Kamen Rider Vail, now rechristened Kamen Rider Destream. Though the concept of the latter had been Spoiled by the Merchandise due to eagle-eyed viewers spotting empty sockets on the Vail Driver, both forms were never really foreshadowed, teased in magazines, or subjected to a Content Leak until less than 24 hours before their official teasers were released anyways, making them quite the bombshell in a manner similar to the debut of Yodonna.
  • So Okay, It's Average: A large portion of the fanbase seems to agree that, while Revice has a strong first half and improves on its predecessors in several regards, its mediocre second half mellows it out into a fairly average season.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • The clones that the Giffard Rex form can summon look really bad. They move in a very stilted, slow way and are weirdly not very affected by light given how the suits look.
    • EviltyLive’s black stripes are clearly stickers, with one of them visibly peeling off in promo shots.
  • Tainted by the Preview:
    • Subaru Kimura's casting as the voice of Vice has not been received well by portions of the Western Kamen Rider fandom due to photoshoots from Hypnosis Mic and (since deleted) posts on his social media showing him in blackface.
    • The fact that several of the Transformation Trinkets would be based on past Riders, indicating an anniversary season. Even if it's not to the same extent, many pointed out that Kamen Rider has already had a recent legacy anniversary season in the form of Kamen Rider Zi-O. Combined with the general opinion of that season along with Kamen Rider Decade, the other Heisei anniversary season, not being that well regarded either, as well as the idea of it being too soon, many are already wary about the idea. Others pointed out that Kamen Rider Fourze, the formerly-planned 40th franchise anniversary season also was largely standalone and received better overall than both the Heisei anniversaries.
      • Not to mention that many of the trinkets seem disconnected to the Rider's themes and motifs (i.e. the Megalodon Vistamp is based on Decade but the form itself only resembles Decade's suit and doesn't give Revi any of Decade's powers).
    • There's also the fact that the belt previews show that it runs on a Magnadoodle-style system, which have been known to wear out after repeated use.
    • Revi and Vice's cameo debut was received rather poorly due to Vice's "mischievous and annoying" personality traits being represented through nothing but him farting a lot, which was viewed as both overly juvenile humor, even for a kids show, and also not even being funny. Come the series proper debut and the fart jokes are completely absent, making it clear that the Saber writers flat out didn't know what to do with Vice.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • Outside of his One-Scene Wonder and his Prequel story, Kamen Rider Vail never makes a reappearance, with his main user disappearing for a majority of the show and never once addressing both The Reveal itself or how that reveal affected his children note  outside of upgrading the Vail Driver into the Destream Driver which had a similar fate of only being used twice in the show and once in The Movie.
    • Fans seem to agree the Ushijima family needed more development and that moments such as Hikaru becoming Over Demons and Kimiko’s death in #39 would have been much more impactful if they'd received more characterization beforehand. Other's point out his parents' deaths' having been before Hikaru becomes Over Demons might have made it work a lot better by giving him more sympathy and motivation for becoming a Rider.
    • Despite being the Big Bad, Giff spends most of the series either a Sealed Evil in a Can or an Orcus on His Throne and doesn't even speak until the final stretch of episodes. His goal of killing off most of humanity as a response to their violent nature is interesting, but barely gets any development before he's destroyed for good in #46.
    • Many fans felt that Tamaki was incredibly shortchanged in regards to getting Over Demons rather than his own unique "Kamen Rider Julio" form with his Wolf Vistamp, particularly after Hana became Aguilera with her Queen Bee Vistamp. It also does not help that the official "Kamen Rider Julio" appearing in TTFC Direct Theater is simply — of all things — the Revi Rex Genome suit.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • We see in a flashback that Orteca had a physically abusive father but it's never touched upon again, even though it could have been used to expand on the show's themes about family and made Orteca into more of a foil to the Igarashis given how unlike the Igarashi siblings, Orteca grew up in an abusive household that presumably helped shape his personality as an adult.
    • The fight in #43 between Gigademos Akaishi and Hikaru lacks any real satisfaction given how little their rivalry was built up beforehand outside of Tasuke's death. It would have been much more impactful for Daiji to have been the one to fight and defeat Akaishi, rather than just showing up at the end to finish him off.
    • The show never allows for an honest clash in ideals between Ikki and Daiji after the latter's turn in #39, even though Daiji gives clear cut reasons for siding with Giff. Instead, his turn is treated as being because of his angst, rather than because he thinks submitting to Giff will lead to less deaths, and none of the protagonists make an effort to counter the reasons he gives.
    • The show's extended episode count could have been used to build on points like Sakura getting her Invincible Jeanne upgrade or Tamaki becoming Over Demons and make them feel more satisfying. Instead, both are crammed into the same episode, which leaves both with little chance to show off their new abilities as Giff is defeated right after, and the next four episodes are all focused on Ikki losing his memories and George grappling with his grief, which quickly results in both Sakura and Tamaki losing their Rider powers due to him destroying/taking their belts as Juuga.
    • Some fans feel George's arc of becoming Juuga isn't a bad concept on paper, but the fact it was thrown in at the very end of the series with little time to actual explore it kneecapped it, as well as happening long after his character development. If the arc had been done earlier in the show perhaps with Juuga being the midseason Rider would've given it a chance to breathe and let George do more as Juuga than be the antagonist for two episodes and then lose. It could also have helped make his transition to a more heroic character more organic. This is especially the case given the portion after Giff is released is considered to drag a good bit and it might have helped things along.
  • Unexpected Character:
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic:
    • Vail and Kagero are treated as lashing out purely because their respective humans, Genta and Daiji refused to accept them and get “redeemed” by said humans admitting that they were right. But considering the two of them are uncaring sociopaths who tried to kill their hosts’ family, and don’t show a shred of remorse or development past this throughout the show, both Genta and Daiji seem justified in getting rid of them.
    • George's relationship with Masumi essentially ending with him being told "he may have abandoned you and artificially implanted you with a demon, but he loved you, so it's okay". While Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You and related tropes about Parental Abuse are unfortunately common in Kamen Rider, many felt that Masumi using George as a test subject was beyond the pale and made the entire plotline hard to stomach.
  • Unfortunate Character Design: Some fans have pointed out Giff's resemblance to female genitalia. Episode 27 even reveals that it has a toothless maw right there as it swallows human victims.
  • Vanilla Protagonist: A common complaint is that Ikki suffers from not having a significant arc or major character development, with Vice, Kagerou, Hiromi, Sakura, Aguilera and Genta being seen as more interesting characters by fan polls.
  • WTH, Costuming Department?: The designs for Live and Evil's Marvelous forms from Revice Forward feature a copious amount of pink that clashes horribly with their undersuits' color schemes, eliciting this reaction from fans.
  • The Woobie:
    • Ayaka Oketani from #3-4 just wanted her mother to notice her, but her mom paid more attention to her younger sister Miharu and completely neglected Ayaka's emotional needs, causing Ayaka to have the Kong Deadman under her contract. When her mother continued to focus all her attention to Miharu and neglect, even after she'd been kidnapped, Ayaka then formed a second contract which fused her with her Deadman to its Phase 2 form and attempted to drop her sister to her death to retaliate against her mother. Thankfully, courtesy of Ikki, her mother apologized to Ayaka for having been terrible to her and stated that she loves her no matter what she is, albeit with Ayaka ending up in rehabilitation in Fenix once she turned back to normal.
    • Julio as well, in light of what we learn in #17. He was originally an introverted nerd who had a rare trading card he owned torn up by his only friend, and joined the Deadmans because they were only place he could find acceptance. And just when said friend apologizes to him, he gets turned into a Gifftarian before the two can properly reconcile.
  • Woolseyism:
    • The rhyming jingle for Revi and Vice's Rex Genome form doesn't quite flow well in a literal translation (with the two initial Japanese words, Ohin (stamping) and Shoin (approval) not rhyming well in English). Genm Subs deals with this by changing the first two words to 'Sealing, Dealing', altering the rhyming scheme slightly to make it fit and not lose it entirely.
      • By extension, because they already translated Ohin as Sealing, the Ohinbuster50 is similarly renamed as the Sealing Buster 50, in contrast to most other fansubs calling it Stamping Buster 50.
    • From the same group, Ikki and Vice's text conversations in the background of Revice's Transformation Sequence were rewritten to look like they were sent on actual phones while retaining their original meanings; Ikki's lines are largely unchanged while Vice's are much more casual and make use of text slang.
Ikki: YOU DIRTY DEVIL! YOU LIED TO ME!
Vice: what I helped out didnt I
Ikki: You tried to eat my MOM
      Vice: WTH NO I DIDNT
    • Ikki's catchphrase of Ikki ni ikuze!/"Let's do this in one-shot!"note  has been translated by at least one fansub as "It's Ikki time!"
