The ninth installment of the Canadian spin-off of the franchise. This season saw a lot of changes to the spin-off. Most noticeably, the show got a new set of sponsors, and the tasks seemed themed around the sponsors. Despite this, the tasks, while lopsided towards "search and find", were at the very least seen as an improvement over the tasks from the previous season due to being more difficult and having the Product Placement toned down over the course of the season. The cast itself was well-received due to having both likable personalities and competitive teams there to win. This resulted in the most well-liked final 3 in the Canadian version, several Shocking Eliminations, and a lot of suspense with the numerous mistakes, big moves, and alliance shifts throughout the season. The biggest improvement was the editing style. After two poorly edited seasons in a row, the producers clearly learned from their mistakes. The villains of the season were far more fairly portrayed, with their attitude being accepted as gameplay while still acknowledging them as the villains. Additionally, they went far and beyond to really mess with the viewers on who the winner would be after back-to-back obvious ones by giving numerous teams winner edits and Fauxshadowing the downfall of the eventual winners, making their win far less obvious despite having one of the highest finishing averages of all time. These winners are additionally one of the more well-liked winners of the franchise. While it was obvious the show still has issues to fix, such as the lack of international travel and excessive Product Placement, it was seen as a step in the right direction.

Ty & Kat

Dating couple from Alberta.
  • The Ace: Having won the most legs at 5 out of all the teams this is to be expected.
  • Call It Karma: What they say when they beat Derek and Jaspal.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: With Tyler's PTSD from the Humboldt crash and feeling like he let his girlfriend down due to struggling on the penultimate leg due to Ben and Anwar's This Is a Competition mentality nearly getting them eliminated. They prove why they're the strongest team by surviving to the final and winning the race.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: These two seem to have gotten this treatment from the other teams after Derek and Jaspal's elimination. To be fair, it's less "The Friend Nobody Likes" and more "The Friend People Feel Threatened By".
  • The Smart Girl: Kat. While Ty is no fool, Kat generally is the one solving the mental tasks, and even got the Math better than most teams in the Turbine challenge.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted with Tyler from Tyler and Kayleen.
  • Survivor's Guilt: Ty admits to having this from the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

Tyler & Kayleen

Dating couple from Comox Valley, British Columbia.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Tyler is clearly still suffering from trauma from his accident and frustration due to his physical and mental limitations. He credits Kayleen for having his back since his accident and pushing him when he needs it most.
  • Heroic BSoD: Tyler had a meltdown during the alien language roadblock, due to a concussion he had suffered.
  • Last of Their Kind: The last British Columbian team in the race.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted with Tyler from Ty & Kat.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Tyler plays up his amputee status to get the Express Pass, it works.

Ben & Anwar

Friends from Manitoba.
  • Playing Both Sides: In the final 5 they have an alliance with both the top of the pack (Ty & Kat, Tyler & Kayleen) and the bottom of the pack (Justin & Jermaine, Deven & Amanda) with both sides wanting to work with them. They eventually pick a side, siding with the other teams lying to Ty and Kat, in an attempt to get them eliminated.
  • Properly Paranoid: They spent the second half of the race afraid that if Ty & Kat made the finale they would win, they were right.
  • The Social Expert: They are easily able to forge bonds with every team to make it so everyone wants to be in the finale with them.

Eliminated

Deven & Amanda

Dating couple from Quebec.
  • The Generic Guy: Compared to the lively cast, they don't draw much attention to themselves, dealing with pretty normal issues such as relationship woes and trying not to place last...

Jermaine & Justin

Drag queens and friends from Ontario; while they were cast in a similar vein as Oswald & Danny, Anthony & James, and Pako & Mori, they had nothing in common with those teams aside from being Camp Gay. They quickly earned the ire of the fanbase for complaining when things got the least bit difficult and frequently quitting these tasks. They would then proceed to get by on lucky breaks such as non-elimination legs or the mechanics surrounding the Pass. Even the editors couldn't hide this, despite their best efforts to put on a positive facade. Despite their incompetence, they would make the final five and even be in first place for the first half of the leg. After getting lost on the way to the Pass, they would struggle even more on the meat pie obstacle course, putting them so far behind that even Ben & Anwar and Deven & Amanda hitting both traffic and several wrong turns wasn't enough to save them, and their luck finally ran out, sending them home in 5th place.
  • Born Lucky: The two have outlasted more deserving teams despite never running and quitting tasks at the drop of a hat due to a non-elimination leg, a cake-walk Speed Bump, and Gracie & Lily getting lost then Passed. They even found the sand dollar in the infamous Sand Castle rehash on the first one.
  • Broken Aesop: They frequently preach to the audience about being "authentically and unapologetically themselves". This holds very little traction due to their behavior on the course, whining and quitting when things get tough, which is more indicative of their need to focus on self-improvement rather than embracing themselves.
  • Camp Gay: Both are very flamboyant, hyper, and call each other "girl".
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Jermaine escaped from the Bahamas, where drag queens were frequently murdered on their way home.
  • Non-Action Guy: Neither partner is particularly good as they frequently blow leads due to their insistence on walking instead of running in a competitive season, but Justin more so. He quit two challenges, resulting in a 6 hour penalty and a burnt Assist.
  • The Load: Jermaine considers Justin to be this, due to Justin frequently giving up and joking asks if he can sign up for The Amazing Race Canada Solo edition. Ironically according to some outside sources, they are both this frequently considering quitting.
  • Stepford Smiler: The dealer from the Poker Face-Off revealed on Reddit that their positivity and talks of having fun are 100% fake. He called them two of the hardest people to teach he's ever had and they kept talking about quitting every time they lost a hand.

Derek & Jaspal

Friends from British Columbia.
  • Big Bad: Considered to be the most villainous team due to their Arrogance and affably laughably evil attitude.
  • Cassandra Truth: They knew their Sitcom Archnemesis Ty & Kat would likely win the race if they made it to the final three. They couldn't have been proven more right.
  • Death by Irony: They were the most cutthroat team of the season, and didn't want to help the strongest teams of the season. They edn up being eliminated because the weakest team of the season refused to help them.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Gracie & Lily. Neither team holds any resentment towards the other, but the two make their rivalry no secret. Their rivalry with Ty and Kat on the other hand....
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Extremely salty towards Ty and Kat for not giving them an express pass, and formed a (short lived) alliance to beat them. However, they (Ty and Kat) are a genuine threat team with four first place (the most of any team so far) finishes under their belts and generally never finishing below 3rd.
  • Large Ham: Both make a huge spectacle of their time in the limelight.
  • Laughably Evil: They are arrogant and aggressive racers, but their Large Ham status and rivalry with Gracie & Lily make them amusing to watch.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: They helped Jermaine and Justin during the Waterpark roadblock and were "rewarded" for their helpful attitude by having them pass them. What's worse about this is that they tried to get a favour back and Jermaine and Justin basically say Shut Up, Hannibal!.
  • Pet the Dog: Genuinely help the struggling Gracie (as much as they can, anyway) during the Guru ingredients roadblock when it serves them little to no advantage other than making genuine friends out of their rivals.

Gracie & Lily

Friends.
  • Kill the Cutie: A nonlethal variant by Jon when they place last in the fifth leg due to being genuinely pleasant if a bit competitive young ladies.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: They were a huge threat when they were eliminated, having always gotten in the top 4, however, due to being passed by Ben & Anwar, they couldn't catch up especially after Gracie passing the pass board and not doing well in the waterlogged Guru Ingredients challenge.
  • Failed a Spot Check: What led to their elimination. Had they stopped at the pass board before Ben & Anwar, they would have still been in the race and Jermaine and Justin would have gone home.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Derek & Jaspal. Neither team holds any resentment towards the other, but the two make their rivalry no secret.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite their hippie/influencer type appearance, they are one of the most intelligent teams of the season, and Gracie even studied astrophysics.
  • The Smart Girl: They are both detail-oriented and intelligent, allowing them to place at the top of the standings. That is, until Leg 5 where they are eliminated due to Ben & Anwar using a Pass on them due to failing a spot check when it came to finding the Taco food truck. While they come close due to Jermaine and Justin losing their car key, they aren't able to recover from this and are eliminated in 7th place.

Shayla & Joel

Siblings from Alberta.
  • Death by Irony: The final straw in their elimination is Joel going overboard on his paddleboat. This is similar to how Hahn met his end, who Joel is playing in the upcoming live action series.

Allie & Eddie

Married long lost lovers from British Columbia.
  • Dumb Jock: Eddie is in tremendous shape, but made a myriad of mental errors, which were only hampered by being unable to think straight under stress.
  • Fatal Flaw: While a very ambitious team, their inability to think straight under stress is what cost them.
  • First Girl Wins: They dated when they were younger, and Eddie viewed her as The One That Got Away. Needless to say, she didn't stay that way.

Gail & Gisele

Friends and pro-wrestlers. Gisele is the first trans woman in an English speaking version. note
  • Dumb Jock: Gisele is in good shape, but made several mental mistakes, including being unable to figure out that the flags next to her are where the answer is located and being unable to remember any orders.
  • The Millstone: Gisele is the sole cause of their elimination with her repeated mental errors.
