In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}A politician and a Roman Catholic priest, Jozef Tiso headed the Slovak People's Party since 1938. After the collapse of Czechoslovakia, Jozef Tiso was offered the position as the president of a 'Free', 'Independent' Slovak Republic under German influence, an offer which Tiso welcomed with open arms.

Being a priest during his early days, Tiso fought against local poverty and alcoholism in Slovakia, in which his deeds have been overshadowed by the portfolio that he built as the President of Slovakia. According to the Czechoslovak National Army in Slovakia, Jozef Tiso is brutal in terms of suppressing any types of resistance, with a dark history of collaborating with Germany in deportations of Jews.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Mach joined the Slovak People's Party at an early and came to prominence within the movement as an aide to Vojtech Tuka. Under Tuka's tutelage Mach served as editor of the party newspaper Slovák (Slovak) and Slovenská pravda (The Slovak Truth) and was appointed to the party's political committee in 1924. He belonged to the radical non-clerical wing of the Slovak People's Party, later Hlinka's Slovak People's Party. He became an influential figure on party policy, and an editorial he wrote in 1938 calling for the establishment of a paramilitary arm of the party led, with Tuka's support, to the formation of the Hlinka Guard. Mach would succeed Karol Sidor as commander of Hlinka Guard in 1939.

Known for his rabble-rousing, Mach played a leading role in orchestrating the violence that followed the collapse of Czechoslovakia in March of 1939 in his role as head of the Slovak Office of Propaganda. He served initially as Propaganda Minister, after the defeat of Britain he was appointed Minister of Interior, as well as Minister of Propaganda. With his influence he has been lobbying for concentration camps in Slovakia for the last 10 years, unsuccessful in his goals, Mach has become more disillusioned with the clerical wing than ever and is willing to defend Tuka at all cost.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}The most radical of all the radicals. A politician, attorney and a professor, Vojtech Tuka has headed the radical club of the Hlinka's Slovak People's Party since 1918. In 1923 he founded Domobrana - The Home Guard, a paramilitary group, predecessor to the Hlinka's Guard. Sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment high treason and espionage, released in 1937. He served as a martyr for the fudáci, as were members of the HSĽS dubbed. Since 1938 he supported the shift of Slovakia towards Germany and he has been serving as the Slovak Chairman of Government since 1939.

All his public speeches and people around him paint him as an extreme anti-Semite. The architect of the deal to deport Jews into Germany for money and a sympathizer of the Nazi ideology. One of his devoted followers is Alexander Mach, the leader of the Hlinka Guard. His ideal Slovakia is a Slovakia run like Nazi Germany. Privately, he would rather see Slovakia as part of Hungary again than as part of Czechoslovakia.

Rudolf Viest

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}A Czechoslovak Legionary, War Academy graduate, the first and only Slovak general of the Czechoslovak Army and the Inspector-General of Slovak Army, Rudolf Viest was one of heads of the Slovak resistance movement since his return in 1941. He fled the new Slovak State in 1939 to become the leader of the exiled Czechoslovak army, however, after the defeat of the Allies in the West he returned to Slovakia and was officially pardoned by the President to be used as a propaganda tool.

As a Czechoslovak Legionary he always felt more like a Czechoslovak than a Slovak and remained connected to people with democratic ideals. Thanks to the Minister of National Defence, a fellow resistance member, he was able to convince the party of a giant change in his view of the world and left essentially unwatched by the party as he plotted against it and the "state". According to colleagues, Viest is a just, rational and skilled man. A perfect military and democratic leader.

Ján Ursíny

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}A protestant priest and a politician, Ján Ursíny has been credited as the head of the civilian Slovak resistance. He represents the conservative liberal ideology of the resistance as the informal Democratic Party. He served as a friend to the Czechoslovak (Slovak) Minister Chairman (Prime Minister) Milan Hodža. Ursíny, however, despite his Hungarian surname, is a convinced nationalist, opposed to the fascist rule. He has a great knowledge of politics and geography, as well as a great foresight, allowing him to prepare for some situation, which might be difficult down the line.

After the end of Czechoslovakia, he was watched as a protestant priest, as the Slovak government was a clerical Catholic fascist proto-dictatorship. He was part of the resistance from the start and was great at hiding things away. As the war ended the agents watching him got break in 1942 1942, hoping to cut government spending. The government also shifted towards Christian unity at the time. This allowed him to fully engage himself with the movement and him, Dérer, Viest and Golian were considered leaders or the Insurgent National Council by 1950.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}The Secretary General of the AKEL is a true working class hero, in being a part of it for most of his life. Born in a village of less than two hundred, he personally experienced the struggle of the rural farmer. Unable to receive higher schooling without his brother's financial financial support, he realized that education, even now, was a privilege that only the well off would ever receive. Forced to move to Nicosia due to health concerns, he witnessed that healthcare, too, was something that could not be obtained without playing the game of capitalism. Finally, he toiled as both dock worker and a miner, hard labor that truly made him part of the proletariat. These experiences molded him into the man he is today, for throughout all of his struggles, he found one consistent chance at salvation: Communism.

From there, Ezekias Papaioannou became a true believer in internationalism: Battling Fascist groups politically in London, then literally in Spain. He attempted to battle against the German menace, even if if that meant fighting for his colonial overlords, and was only rejected due to the injuries he experienced in the Spanish Civil War. After Germany crushed the armies of free Europe, he returned to his homeland, intent on bringing the revolution to his own nation before anywhere else. The struggle against colonialism was long and hard, with the British he once tried to fight for arresting and imprisoning him and many others of his party. But he never stopped struggling, escaping from his jailors and continuing the battle; one he eventually won, clearly and decisively.

Now elected to rule over a now independent Cyprus, Ezekias' policies are that of anti-fascism, equality between Greek and Turk Cypriots, and above all else, bringing Marxist-Leninism to Cyprus.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Having served as the grand admiral of the Austro-Hungarian navy in the Great War, Miklós Horthy is now surrounded by enemies from all sides. After ascending to power as regent in the newly created Kingdom of Hungary, Horthy worked diligently to ensure his nation's freedom which only led him into an unstable alliance with a new Nazi Germany. During Hitler's crusade in Europe, Horthy refused to relinquish most of his Jewish population to Germany and housed many minority groups and refugees. This lack of collaboration between the two nations forced Horthy to forge his own path for the Hungarian nation in the years following the war. Whether or not he is seen as a dictator, Horthy now faces a troubling political climate where the Germans surround him and the Romanians are eyeing to strike at any moment. While Horthy might be an admiral without a fleet, only time will tell whether or not he will be a Hungarian without a nation.

As a mechanical engineer, István Horthy briefly worked in the Ford factory in Michigan, and as he returned, he secured the role of designer, soon director of the MAVAG locomotive factory. Becoming Deputy Regent in 1942, István Horthy remained a staunch critic of Nazism, often making these comments publicly.

And as the German-Soviet War started, István volunteered as a fighter pilot, serving on the Eastern Front throughout the duration of the war and earning an Iron Cross, soon becoming the Commander of the Hungarian Air Force. As a popular figure, István Horthy's political outlook is one of optimism, prepared to bring Hungary into the new century.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}The last crown prince of Austria-Hungary, Otto was active on the Austrian and European political stage from the 1930s, both by promoting the cause of Habsburg restoration and as an early proponent of European integration—being thoroughly disgusted with nationalism—and a fierce opponent of Nazism and communism. After the Anschluss, he fled Europe to the United States.

Spending the rest of his political life in America, he remained a staunch opponent of radicalism, acquiring new democratic values alongside his affirmed Pan-European ideologies. And as Otto was elected the King of Hungary, the king shall now bring these ideas with him to Budapest.

During the Soviet Republic, Szakasits was the head of the Department of the People's Commissariat on Internal Affairs, and for this, he was sentenced to prison for a brief period of time. Since then, he remained as the most influential member of the MSZDP.

Interestingly, Szakasits is also an Esperantist, and a frequent attendant of Esperanto congresses.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}A prominent leader of the National Peasant Party, Ferenc Erdei studied law at the University of Szeged. During this time, he also conducted sociological studies and made acquaintances with other intellectuals.

Erdei is loyal to the socialist ideology, and as the de-facto leader of his very own political movement, all the tools of a revolution are now under his command.

Ferenc Szálasi

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Ferenc Szálasi, born in Kassa, son of a soldier father and a Greek Catholic. After finishing primary school in his hometown, Szálasi followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the army, graduating from the military academy in 1915 when he was promoted to lieutenant. During the later advancement in his career, he became an officer of the Austro-Hungarian army and was soon transferred to the front, but he only stayed for 36 months, where he spent waiting for the war to end.

After two coups broke out in the Hungarian government, the first under the Democrats while the second was under the leadership of Bela Kun, he remained apolitical and watched from the sideline. Once again applying for military training between 1921 and 1929, he went from academy to academy with high praises, receiving promotions until 1933. By then, he was disappointed by Hungarian policies on the issue of lost territories, he published a 46-page pamphlet which advocated the return of the borders of Hungary, the so-called "Hungarianism". Since soldiers and members of the General Command had no right to interfere in politics, and all those who agreed to implement his plan were fired or regretted their decision, this led to his resignation in October 1934. After his National Socialist Party's collapse in 1937, the Arrow Cross Party was created after Germany performed the Anschluss. Szálasi was proclaimed the leader and won 30 seats in Parliament 1939, becoming one of the strongest parties in Hungary. After the outbreak of the European War, his party suffered another blow, but under amnesty after the Vienna Award in 1940, the Arrow Cross returned with German support, watched closely by the government after the end of conflict on both fronts.

In-Game Biography (Country Leader) ^{Click to Show}Mihai I, born October 25, 1921 in Sinaia, son of Carol II. Shortly after his birth, his father got into a controversial relationship with his mistress, which infuriated the Romanian political scene, and Carol had to leave the country until Mihai was declared the heir of the crown. After his grandfather Ferdinand died in July 1927, Mihai usurped the throne, but soon after, a regency was formed that would hold power until Mihai turned 18.

Shortly after the founding of the regency, at the invitation of politicians dissatisfied with the actions of the regency, Carol II returned to Romania to act on behalf of his son. Soon after, Mihai was proclaimed Crown Prince and later entered the Romanian Senate. Shortly after the Second Vienna Award, Marshal Antonescu took power launched a coup in September, and later on September 26 placed Mihai as an "ornament King" while Antonescu himself held absolute power.

After the end of the European War, Mihai continued to sit in the shadow of the politicians who maintained contacts with Germany, thus shaming the status of Romania. Mihai grew to resent this situation after a whole decade of suspicion towards the regime. Now the time has finally come, with Mihai taking the matters of the state into his own hands.

Serving as the Deputy Prime Minister, Mihai Antonescu ruled with an iron fist, carrying out the dictator's wills in Romania and appeasing the radicals by implementing radical Anti-Jewish laws.

Naturally, Mihai Antonescu became the successor shortly after Ion Antonescu's death. Although, he is now determined to maintain the regime's relevance by 'playing both sides', drastically changing his views to present himself as an enlightened centrist between moderatism and radicalism.

Gheorghe Alexianu conducted his law studies at University of Bucharest. After graduation he was for a year professor of philosophy and history at a high school in Râmnicu Vâlcea, then he attended doctoral courses at University of Bucharest and obtained the title of doctor in legal sciences. From 1927 he held the position of associate professor of public law at the Chernivtsi University, where he worked until 1938.

His bureaucratic career began on August 29, 1938, when he was appointed governor of Tinutul Suceava. But most importantly, after Romania acquired Transnistria, Ion Antonescu appointed Alexianu as the Governor of Transnistria, the position that made him into an infamous politician. With brutal efficiency, Alexianu did the bidding of the regime in Transnistria, organizing ghettos and concentration camps to place the deported Romanian and Ukrainian Jews and Gypsies. Tens of thousands died under Alexianu's supervision.

It was with this record of bloodshed that landed him the job of Deputy Prime Minister upon lon Antonescu's death and Mihai Antonescu's rise to prominence. Now as the nation's leader, there is no doubt that Alexianu might relive his bloody days as governor.

During the interwar years, Mihalache steadily climbed the political ladder, rising in political prominence.

Mihalache also became a staunch opponent of the Iron Guard, to the point where he congratulated Ion Antonescu for defeating the Iron Guard the Legionary Rebellion. But since then, Mihalache stood against the dictatorship on most matters except for Romanian irredentism.

But before this period of instability, initially Tătărescu served under multiple cabinets before becoming Prime Minister himself, and he also supported King Carol's National Renaissance Front and advocated for authoritarian rule with free trade. In the political scene, Tătărescu is regarded by most as a controversial figure, with his political ideology being extremely complicated.

But for now, as the leader of the nation once again, Tătărescu once again has the opportunity to build an everlasting legacy.

Nicholas I

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Nicholas I briefly served as one of the regent of his nephew, King Mihai I. However, his role as regent soon ended with the rise of King Carol. In later 1930 he was stripped of his titles and privileges and exiled from the Royal Court, due to King Carol II's disapproval of his marriage. In 1942 after the removal of King Carol II from the throne and King Michael's second reign, Nicholas had also been stripped of his Romanian honours and therefore started using the title of Prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen of the house to which he belonged.

Since then, he lived in exile. Until recently, when the government deicided to intervene and reinstated his royal status, ultimately leading to his return as the latest King of Romania, replacing Mihai I.

Having secured a position for himself in Romania following the nation's drift into the German sphere, the newly invigorated Iron Guard would go on to carry out barbaric pogroms in the Transnistrian Governate amidst growing anxiety from Ion Antonescu's government. Fleeing to after a botched to Germany in 1941, the new Conducător spent over a decade quietly plotting for his eventual return to Romania. Now at the helm of a shattered nation, Sima's reign of terror can finally reach the apex needed to shape Romania in his own twisted image.

Along with national hero, he has found himself with many more, less flattering titles; among them terrorist, murderer, war criminal, and butcher. And, unlike "hero", each of these is true. Pavelić has led a regime of unmatched brutality, save for perhaps Germany's Eastern European territories. The Ustashe has engaged in a horrific campaign of cleansing and expelling Serbs, Jews, and Romani from Croatia, the brutality of which Heinrich Himmler allegedly had called "ridiculous".

With the tendrils of the Ustashe going from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, it seems that there will be no end to Croatia's woes. Every day, opponents of the regime, Jews, and Serbs are executed with methods often primitive and brutal. Pavelić's rule seems endless, with the partisans being hunted to the nation's borderlands and across the border. In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}August Košutić is someone that many consider to have been born to be a politician, a man who grew up surrounded by politicians and was invariably influenced by them. Born to HSS commissioners in 1893, young August had been baptized by HSS boplized by leader and Croatian nationalist Stjepan Radić and would prove to be an incredibly intelligent child. Spending much of his chized much of his childhood reading the collective works of his ostracized godfather and mentor, he eventually married Radić's daughter and and became a highly influential Croatian politician within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Having been alienated by the Yugoslavian royal dictatorship, he reluctantly sided with the Ustaše when the Independent State of Croatia was proclaimed, he had quickly found himself nothing more than a pawn for Ante Pavelić's totalitarian grip on Croatia while going in and out of his prisons. Taking the leadership of the HSS after Maček's death in Jasenovac, Košutić would begin plotting behind closed doors with representatives of the Croatian Home Guard in the hopes of deposing the Ustaše altogether. Now finally the first democratic president of Croatia, Košutić will work tirelessly to fulfill the legacies of his late mentors.

After the German invasion of the Soviet Union, Gaži moved to Jerusalem, Istanbul, Cairo and London where he worked with the Allies to secure economic aid for Yugoslavia. After the war, he was appointed a delegate to the third session of the Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Yugoslavia on behalf of the Croatian Peasant Party. Agrarian with socialist characteristics, he is now the President of Croatia after Košutić's semi-retirement, and aims to follow the parties ideology of agrarianism, albeit with some socialist policies.

He also served as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Post, Telegraph and Telephone of Yugoslavia between 1942 and 1943. After the 6th January Dictatorship he was exiled. In Geneva, Kmiević edited and printed "Croatia", a multi-lingual newsletter reporting on Yugoslavia's brutal police regime. Longer travels in 1938 took Krnjević to Canada and the US, where many Croatian emigrants were strong supporters of the HSS. Having been nominated to the Senate, Krnjević was now able to return from Geneva, just as war broke out in Poland. Now in control of Banovina of Croatia, things seemed to be going well, until the German Invasion of Yugoslavia and the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia and the Soviet Collapse, things seemed dark for the Croat people, but with the help of the homeguard, the ustashe have been overthrown and the HSS has won the first Croatian democratic elections in recent history. Now with him as the president as a de-ustašefied Croatia, he seeks to follow the Agrarianist line his Predecessor's imagined.

While his skills have proven useful to us in the past, his loyalty the regime is questionable at best, some even accusing him of working with the denounced parties. Whatever the case, we must not let him get too much power, or else he will most likely try to overthrow the government when the time is right!

In-Game Biography (President) ^{Click to Show}Ante Vokić is a figure in the Croatian Home Guard that few expected to rise to the highest rank in the Croatian government. Born into an impoverished family in Mostar 1909, Vokić quickly became interested in the Ustaše as the rise of Croatian separatism was at its peak in pre-war Yugoslavia. Quickly joining the Independent State of Croatia when it was founded in 1941, he was tasked with founding the elite Black Legion alongside Rafael Boban and Jure Francetić, an elite militia decorated for its fierce fighting against Red Partisans and Serbian Serbian Chetniks. Returning to Zagreb in 1944 to assume the position of Chief of the Army, he slowly became disillusioned with Ustaše ideology as their multiple failures began to pile onto each other. The economic collapse, the rebellion and the lack of any real social rebellion and the lack of any real social progress would prove to be the last straw for Vokić as he began conspiring with Lorković and the moderate conservative HSS to topple the bloated regime and rebuild in their own image. Having finally pushed both the Ustaše and the HSS aside to assume dictatorial powers alongside Mladen Lorković, Vokić can finally realize his dreams of a nationalistic Croatia shaped in the image of the prestigious Home Guard.

Ex-Member of the Ustaše, the Minister of Armed Forces of Croatia, Marshal Ante Vokić is one of the more of Croatia, interasting personas in the Croatian Political Scene. Born in Mostar on 23rd of August 1909, he attended a gymnasium in Sarajevo and studied law at University of Zagreb. He ended his studies in 1929 and started working for the train service in Sarajevo. He co-founded the Croatian Academic Club Kranjčević and the newspaper Svijest (Consciousness) and participated in the HKI Napredak. Before the establishment of the Croatian state, Vokić was a member of the Ustaše branch in Zagreb. On 11 April 1941, by order of Slavko Kvaternik, he was sent to serve at the headquarters of the Ustaška Nadzorna Služba (Ustasha Surveillance Service), whose main task was to lead and build up existing Ustaša combat formations and form new ones. Later that year he was appointed Director of Train Services in Sarajevo. He was an organising commander of all Ustaša traffic brigades. An associate of Jure Francetić, he was a founding member of Crna of Cma Legija (Black Legion). In 1943 he left Sarajevo and moved to Zagreb and on October of that year he was appointed Minister of Traffic. At the suggestion of Mladen Lorković, he was promoted to the Ustaše rank of colonel rank of colonel and named minister of the Armed Forces on 29 Forces on 29 January 1944, without the approval German ambassador German ambassador Siegfried Kasche and German attache Edmund Glaise von Horstenau. The Ustaše support the creation of a Greater Croatia that would span the Drina River and extend to the border of Belgrade. The movement emphasizes the need for a racially "pure" Croatia and promotes genocide against Serbs - due to the Ustaše's beliefs grounded in anti-Serb sentiment - and Jews and Roma via Nazi racial theory, and persecution of anti-fascist or dissident Croats and Bosniaks. The Ustaše views the Bosniaks as "Muslim Croats", and as a result, Bosniaks are not persecuted on the basis of race. It was founded as a nationalist organization that sought to create an independent Croatian state. When the Ustaše came to power in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH), a quasi-protectorate puppet state established by Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany during the European war, its paramilitary wing became the Ustaše Militia. However, the Ustaše lack support among ordinary Croats and never accrued any significant support among the populace. The Ustaše regime was backed by parts of the Croat population that during the interwar period had felt oppressed in the Serb-led Yugoslavia. Most of the support it had initially gained by creating a Croat national state was lost because of the brutal practices it uses, making the resistance movements, mostly the partisans, grow more support day by day.

Upon his return to Osijek, he opened a law office and actively participated in the work of cultural societies. He became a member of the Croatian Peasant Party and was elected in 1935 and 1938 as a representative of the HSS in the National Assembly. After the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia in April 1941, he sided with the Ustaša regime and carried out the inclusion of HSS supporters in the Ustasha movement. He was appointed the grand prefect of the Great Parish of Baranja with headquarters in Osijek, and in 1943 he became the Minister of the Peasant Economy in the NDH Government, and he actively advocated the policy of religious conversion of Serbs from the Orthodox to the Catholic faith, being responsible for war crimes and genocide committed against Roma, Serbs and Jews. After the Collapse of the NDH, he fled to Buenos Aires and established the Croatian Liberation Movement there. Božidar Kavran was born in Zagreb. Since 1935, he has been active in the cultural and academic society "August Šenoa", the most famous Croatian student nationalist society in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He graduated in pharmacy in 1939. Immediately after the establishment of the NDH, Mavran was entrusted with responsible duties. In May 1943, Ante Pavelić appointed him the administrative commander of all Ustaša and deputy lineman for all Ustaša organizations. In these positions, he managed the activities of the Ustaša organizations of the NDH. After the fall of the NDH he tried to stage an uprising called "Action of April the 10th". Ribar lost his entire family during the European War: his two sons, Jurica and Ivo, and his wife, Antonija. Both Jurica and Ivo were killed in action in 1943 fighting for the Partisans, while Ribar's wife was executed by the Germans in 1944. Ivo Lola Ribar, his younger son, was in charge of the Young Communist League of Yugoslavia. He graduated from the secondary Craft School in Bjelovar, where he studied to be a shoemaker. When he was 18, he Studied to be a shoemaker. joined the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia. He was vice president of the Association of Workers' Unions for the tanning industry. He was accepted into the Communist Party of Croatia when he was 19. In 1940 he was appointed Secretary of the Municipal Committee of SKOJ for Nova Gradiška and was named a member of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party. Following the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia, Manolić was captured by the Ustaše authorities for agitation. After his release, Manolić went to Zagreb, where he agitated for the Yugoslav Partisans. He remained in Zagreb until October 1942, when he moved to the territory under partisan control. As a party agitator, he traveled across Croatia. With the dismissal of Andrija Hebrang in 1944, the whole leadership of SKOJ was dismissed as well, including Manolić, who was Organisational Secretary. After his dismissal, the Party sent him to Bjelovar. He was chosen as the leader of OZNA. Now the leader of Yugoslavia along with Bakarić, he seeks to lead Yugoslavia towards a brighter future.

After finishing primary school in 1922, he finished shoemaking and craft school, but due to lack of work he was engaged in in fishing. Already as an eighteen-year-old boy he participated in the youth and labor movement. Among the first from his region, as well as from Yugoslavia, he prepared to go to Spain, when the civil war began there. He was a fighter of the "Duro Đaković" battalion in the 120th International Brigade. He distinguished himself in many battles, especially on the fronts of Aragon, Cordoba and Teruel. In 1937, he became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. Already in 1941, he was was appointed Commander of the NOP Detachment of the Crikvenica and Novljan districts, ie the whole of Vinodol. Shortly Novijan afterwards, in January 1942, he was appointed commander of the Second Battalion "Matija Gubec", and then commander of the Fifth Battalion "Vladimir Gortan", the First Primorje-Gorski Kotar Partisan Detachment. Shortly afterwards, he became the commander of the Second Primorje-Gorski Kotar Partisan Detachment. Nikola distinguished himself in many battles. He also took part in the first major operation in Gorski Kotar and the Croatian Littoral. He fought all over Croatian Littoral, Istria, Lika...etc. Nikola almost died on July 5, 1942, on the road between the villages of Kamenjak and Grobnik, in an attack by one hundred and forty partisans, led by him, on an Italian column, luckily he managed to save himself and most of the partisans with his wit and quick thinking. Now at the head of the country after the overthrow of the tyrant Hebrang, he seeks to unite Yugoslavia, but this time as an equal, socialist federation for all peoples in it.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Jozef "Sepp" Janko was born on November 9, 1905 in the Banat village of Ernestovac under the jurisdiction of the town of Zrenjanin. After completing his undergraduate studies, he moved to Graz to study law, which he later completed successfully. After some time in politics, he became extremely pan-nationalist with strong pro-German rhetoric. On June 9, 1939, immediately after the outbreak of the European War, he was elected president of the Swabian-German Association in Yugoslavia, which he headed until the invasion of Yugoslavia.

After that, he received an offer from the German authorities as well as from Himmler to organize his bandit company called the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division Prinz Eugen, in which he was proclaimed Volksgruppenführer. After that, with Himmler's blessing, he founded the SS Ordeenstat Banat, in which he could do what he wanted and how he wanted under the patronage of the SS.

Having been jailed in 1940 for his axis sympathies, he was released from captivity by the Nazis and asked to form a Serbian civilian regime in the new rump state that emerged from the Axis partition of Yugoslavia. While nominally the prime minister of the "Government of National Salvation", A German detachment lead by Harald Turner and a delicate web of loyal Chetnik and ZBOR politicians are the only things that prevent his nation from descending into complete anarchy. As the partisans and rebellious Chetniks continue to terrorize the countryside regardless, Milan's Serbia is hardly a functioning government.

Not much is known about his past, but several significant things are known that have shaped his views as well as politics. Working in the army as a lieutenant-colonel, he was pro-British in nature, and was associated with several I agents stationed in Yugoslavia. After the outbreak of the European War, and later the attack on Yugoslavia, he joined Milan Nedić as Minister of the Interior as head of social policy and health. His motives are largely unknown, however his rule is not believed to last long as the tides of revolution creep on Belgrade's doorstep.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Born on August 12, 1891 in Belgrade, Ljotić's father was a well-known politician and consul in Greece, as well as the first man to translate Karl Marx's "Communist Manifesto" into Serbian. Dimitrije Ljotić took part in the Balkan wars, as well as the First World War fighting for Serbia. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and continued to practice law until the interwar period.

During his studies, Ljotić was introduced to the fascist ideas of Charles Maurras in Paris, whose writings enthralled the impressionable Ljotić. In 1920, he joined the People's Radical Party of Nikola Pašić, an early far-right party in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 1930 he became the deputy president of the Smederevo district and climbed through the rank, eventually meeting King Alexander and offered him a draft of his constitution that depicted an organic fascist dictatorship; A proposal that the king promptly rejected.

In the immediate wake of the king's assassination in 1934, Ljotić contacted three fascist parties in Yugoslavia, and at a joint session they merged into the United Militant Labour Organization also known as ZBOR. Immediately after the formation they were banned, and never numbered over 10,000 members. After the German invasion, he received an offer to find himself in the future Nedić's place, but refused, becoming a member of the government and got the right to organize the state's volunteer forces.

Now in charge of Serbia, he faces hard opposition from most Serbians from both the former government and the civilian populace. Something that he will have to remedy in order to survive.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Born on April 13, 1906 in the Mačva district in the village of Klenje, Strahinja Janjić was an ordinary child who frequently abused animals for fun. Too young to participate in the First World War, he joined the pre-war Yugoslav army in 1923 and by the time he was fired in 1932, he held the rank of officer. He later tried to find a job in the public sector and in the period from 1936 to 1939, he changed many jobs, where he was fired for those same sadistic tendencies.

Having been described by many mentally insane, unstable, aggressive, sadistic and pathologically disturbed, Janjić reached the position of mayor of Kragujevac in 1941, but due to his too aggressive policy and behavior, he was fired on the orders of Milan Nedić and arrested. It wasn't until the intervention of the Germans that he was released and transferred to Leskovac. After his release, the Germans assigned him to form the Belgrade secret police in 1942. Also known as the 1st Belgrade special combat detachment, or as Janjić called it, the "Serbian Gestapo".

Taught by the Germans, Janjić fantasized about overthrowing Nedić and becoming the leader of a National Socialist Serbian state.

But we know one thing for sure about this cold-blooded murderer who, together with Strahinja Janjić, participated in the creation of the 1st Belgrade Special Fighting Division. As Janjić's deputy, he personally participated in various crimes against their precieved enemies. But unlike his boss, he is more sane.

When Janjić left for Tibet, Svetozar has taken the role of Head of State until he returns from his expedition.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Born on April 26, 1893 in Ivanjica, he was left without parents at a relatively young age, as his uncle took care of him and his relatives. Dragoljub finished the first four grades of primary school, and enrolled in the Third Belgrade Gymnasium, only to later transfer to the lower military academy, from where he was transferred to the front in the Balkan wars. Mihailović stood out as a particularly brave and competent soldier in several significant operations of the first and second Balkan wars. Continuing his military education, he was eventually sent to the front against Austria-Hungary during the First World War.

After the war, he was sent to quell the Albanian uprisings in Kosovo, and was originally placed in the King's Guard, but was removed after rehearsing a gun in a full bar and saying "There is no greater Serb than me." He participated in various diplomatic and military missions in the interwar period, which gained him a considerable reputation. He was first sent to teach at military schools in Sarajevo and eventually enrolled in a French military school, where he shared a desk with Charles de Gaulle. He was later transferred to Sofia as a military attaché, but after a few years was transferred to Prague.

At the outbreak of the invasion of Yugoslavia, he retreated into the woods, and waited for the right moment to revolt. One of the few who decided to continue the fight, Dragoljub maintained contacts with Milan Aćimović and the Government of National Salvation. Now in charge of Serbia, his regime has taken on hard Serbian nationalism, and many believe that his Junta of Saint Sava may continue the status quo of old.

While in Serbia, he advocated the ideas of conservatism with indications of the liberalization of institutions, only more directed towards democratization. Taking over the government-in-exile stationed in London after the invasion, Božidar became enamoured with the democratic ideas of Great Britain and its constitutional monarchy, something that he hopes to bring to a wartorn Serbia.

Petar did not intend to give up his father's policy of policy of leading Yugoslavia and wanted to continue with the further centralization of power in Yugoslavia as well as the breakup of every separatist movement, but he was hindered in that idea by the incredible genius of his uncle and Dušan Simović later. As time passed on the occasion of unpopular moves made by Pavle with Cvetković and Maček, Petar became more and more popular, and when Pavle decided to sign the Tripartite Pact, the genius of Dušan Simović became apparent. In a bloodless coup, Peter II became the last king of Yugoslavia at the age of 17 and a half and established a very pro-British government, mixing ministers from all parties, except the + the far-right Serbian groups and Ustaše and the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. His reign did not last long and on April 6 he was force by Dušan Simović to flee to Montenegro where a plane to Greece awaited them where a plane to Jerusalem awaited them where a plane to Cairo awaited them where a plane to London awaited them while along the way he promised at press conferences that the fight would never end. After the collapse of the British and French armies after Dunkirk, Peter II remained in London, from where he coordinated his actions with Draža Mihailović, but it seemed that Serbia would never be freed from slavery again, so he i so he indulged in alcohol and depression. It slowly began to disappear as soon as it was noticed that a problem with Hitler's health broke out in Germany, and it was thought that the moment of liberation would finally come. After the successful operation of the liberal government and the Chetniks, the king was successfully returned to Serbia, where he was crowned with his old crown.

His role in the First World War is unknown, but it is assumed that he took part in it. In 1903, he was constantly elected a Member of the National Assembly. During the interwar period, he was elected Minister of Education several times, and advocated for the liberalization of institutions and education reform, making it a priority.

Promptly fleeing in the wake of the invasion of Yugoslavia, he later became a member of the government in exile. Now in charge of a democratic Yugoslavia, Trifunović has promised extensive education to reshape the nation into a truly modernized force, but whether he can accomplish this remains to be seen.

During his search for a job at an early age, he toured Czechoslovakia where he stayed for a short time at Skoda Works, then later moved to Berlin and finally returned to Austria-Hungary where he worked until his conscription into the Austro-Hungarian army. At the outbreak of the First World War, he was transferred to the Serbian front, but after unsuccessful invasions, in 1915 he was transferred to Galicia where he fought against the Rus the Russians, only to be captured and transferred to the Urals iin a labour cupio camp. Having been released during the Russian Revolution, he returned to Yugoslavia in 1918, and soon joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. Originally a propaganda minister, he soon became its commissioner in 1937, and eventually party president in 1939.

After the war broke out, his troops retreated to the forests in what became known as the partisan movement.

Josip Broz 'Tito' has now become the unquestionable ruler of Yugoslavia, the future of the Balkans remains uncertain as ever.

After the invasion of Yugoslavia, he joined Josip Broz Tito and the Communist Party in the underground partisan movement.

A staunch Stalinist and Serb nationalist, Ranković has long advocated for a solid centralized Soviet system overseen by the secret police. Now in charge of the Communist Party, he may very well see his vision go from ideas on paper into laws in practice.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Born in in Podbišće near Mojkovac on June 4, 1911, Đilas went to Belgrade after completing his undergraduate studies to study philosophy and law, eventually joining the CPY. Tito found out about him later around 1937, and a directive was issued to find Milovan Đilas and bring him to organize the sending of volunteers to Spain during its civil war. At the beginning of the Second World War, Dilas was sent to his native Montenegro, where an uprising was to take place but famously failed.

Dilas' ideology varies far from Tito's and is in conflict with anything in the hardline communist camp. A self-proclaimed democratic socialist, he has been considered by many to be the true reformist voice within the party. Something that he now wishes to bring to the new Republic.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to show}Ivan Mihailov's career reads like a travelogue of the Balkans: where the Bulgarian Nationalist Movement stayed in the confines of home territory, Mihailov's best work has been elsewhere in the Balkans, furthering national interests by means which would generally be considered a form of state terror. His domestic popularity boosted by his foreign endeavours and Long career, Ivan now sits at the top of the Bulgarian nation. A terrorist he might have been, but it cannot be denied that his methods have been effective - and Mihailov is as capable of waging peace as he is at waging war.

Mihailov's life is intertwined with the Organization he helped found, IMRO; the latter left a trail of murder and carnage across Macedonia and Serbia in the 1920s and 1930s, with the former working in the shadows to clean up the bloodwork. Kings, ministers, diplomats, and common people fell in the hundreds and thousands in the interests of the Bulgarian nation and the preservation of its people. Some of those casualties came from internal factions opposed to Mihailov's presence. After IMRO ceased operations Ivan moved from Turkey to Macedonia and back again, eventually settling in the Ohrana militia and political movement.

Mihailov split from the Ohrana in 1945 (he remains friends with its leadership, including Kalchev), but his years in the movement have taught him a valuable lesson. Fascism is vital, but its divisiveness also makes it vulnerable - to survive, Mikhailov believes, the Bulgarian state must reform along pre-determined lines. Paramount to this reform is the security of the Balkans, and so the man known as the Ambassador Of Knives has unveiled a final plan for the region around him, to gather the gamer Balkans in a tight embrace around Sofia as the core rebuilds itself. Resettlement, economic reorganisation, rebirth. No one can claim Mihailov is not ruthless, but no one can deny the size of his dreams.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to show}Andon Kalchev has been accused of letting his acquaintances define his existence, a claim he fights at every turn: by far the most controversial acquaintance of his has been his collaboration with Italy and his increasingly dogged assertion that Italian fascism fits Bulgaria like a glove. Whether this s assertion is true or false, it is undeniable that Kalchev is on very good terms with the neighbour across the Adriatic, and that his militias and government are increasingly defined by Italian advisors and training. Only a fool would ignore friends of the powerful - especially friends in powerful places themselves. And Andon now has the highest place in Bulgaria.

A product of the diaspora of the Bulgarians across the Balkan states, the Bulgarian-by-blood returned to his homeland in the wake of Greek persecution. He quickly established himself as a leading military officer of considerable promise in the 1940s, leading military assistance ventures in collaboration with Italian and German forces in Greece and Bulgarization efforts in Bulgaria-occupied territories to be integrated into the new state. His mixed successes leading anti-Jewish cleanups in the Ohrana he helped found only led him to a position of greater reliance on the Italians for aid, advice and military backup, a connection that both parties have maintained over the postbellum years.

Kalchev plans for a great modernization, a state-led reform of local industry a slow assimilation of periphery peoples into the State after the Italian model - but most ambitious of all is his plan to turn Bulgaria into a true Jewel of the Balkans through a massive increase in service-industry infrastructure. Most of the visitors he plans to attract will be Italian, which only adds to the suspicion of his critics. Even so, Kalchev is determined that his plans will work, and that Italian friendship can only benefit Bulgaria. After all, it's not like Italy will ever falter in its current strengths...

In-Game Biography ^{Click to show}Even in the halls of the UBNF Alexander Belev is a controversial figure: they call him a collaborator-in-training, a German half-breed, even a double-agent in service to the Hitlerites. Belev has always shrugged these complaints off in public, but it is certainly uncanny how his enemies and his methods of disposing of said enemies invariably seem to coincide with those of the Germans. Nevertheless, Belev has managed to work his way to the highest office in Bulgaria, and radical plans have been unveiled to reform the blood and soil of Bulgaria.

Belev, born to an Italian Dalmatian, was dogged by accusations of Jewish ancestry in his youth: his entire life has been an extended struggle again this accusation, and like most Fascists Belev is adept at defining himself in violent opposition to what he is not. In the Ministry of the Interior, Belev studied under Petra Grabowski, the pre-eminent Anti-Semite of the Bulgarian cabinet. In 1941 he began plans to introduce the Nuremberg Laws into Bulgaria, becoming a member of the SS in the process for his swift action in pushing it through the legislative chambers. He also leads the Ratniks, an organisation that has grown to a position of power and suspicion through their loyalty to the Orthodox Church and hatred of Jews.

Belev now believes that the Bulgarians are descended from Aryan intermarriage with the Southern Slavs, a marriage of Aryan racial superiority with the strength and solidarity of the Slavic people. He intends to preserve this ethnic blend through additional laws imposed on minorities, but by far his most innovative theories have concerned the Ukrainians, who are apparently descended from the same root stock as the Bulgarian people. If only language and tradition keeps a people apart, then the solution must be to destroy the barrier by the sword, to shape the two halves into a single whole by fire and fury - and Belev has no lack of either.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}At one time in his life, Konstantinos Logothetopoulos was a respected medical practitioner and professor of gynecology. In the 1920's he instructed hundreds of medical students in this art at the University of Athens, where he eventually became the school dean. Just as the Axis invasion was a great shock that took Greece by surprise, his fall from grace couldn't have been more unexpected for those who knew him as a mild-mannered doctor.

His brief tenure as prime minister of the collaborator government from 1942 and 1943 demolished any respect or fondness anyone had ever had for him. As the German and Italian forces committed one atrocity after another, Logothetopoulos' indifference towards his countrymen's suffering marked him as an obsequious pawn to foreign interests. Although he made token objections to German overreach in Greek politics, he was by and large a passive figure until he was removed from power altogether in April of 1943.

Against all odds, Logothetopoulos has wormed his way back into power following loannis Rallis' death. Now heading the Italophilic Hellenic Fascist Front (HFF), Logothetopoulos' convictions remain unchanged by the passage of of time. His loyalties now lie with Rome rather than Germania, but his role as a facilitator of imperial exploitation is the same as it ever was. His present station in life is not an enviable one. Although the general populace regards him as a loathsome traitor, he is committed to ensuring that nothing interferes with Italy hollowing out Greece's natural resources.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Bourantas is a monster of a man, even by the standards of his monstrous compatriots. After putting in years of service as an officer of the collaborator government, Bourantas rose to prominence when he became commander of the dreaded Security Battalions. The upper echelons of the Hellenic state administration regarded him with appropriate fear and trepidation from the very beginning. Despite (or perhaps because of) his and his men's well-deserved reputation for brutality towards partisans and civilians alike, the Hellenic state's leaders felt there were uses for a man of Bourantas' character. The more "respectable" fascists he answered to believed they could channel his disastrous wrath for their own purposes.

In retrospect, it was naive to think that the worst of Bourantas' excesses could be reigned in like he was a human attack dog. It was only a matter of time until they turned their bayonets on their former superiors. When Bourantas announced to his men that the time had come to "cleanse" Greece, they moved quickly without a hint of remorse or hesitation. The Italo-fascists came to know the came to know same trademark brutality that the common folk of Greece had been well-acquainted with for years. With Bourantas and his Verbands in full control of the government, the few restraints that were placed on them are gone. Nothing is off-limits anymore now that the dogs of war are running wild.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Angelos Evert has dutifully served as the chief commissioner of the Athens city police for the better part of a decade. The son of Bavarian expatriates who moved to Greece during the reign of Otto I, Evert is viewed by his peers as a quiet and unassuming bureaucrat. His placid demeanor belies an unseen craftiness. Despite his public image as a dutiful servant of the Axis powers, Evert hasn't exactly disguised his casual disinterest in fascism or his nostalgia for the deposed Greek monarchy. Other high-ranking law enforcement officers have (correctly) suspected that his loyalties lie elsewhere based on the fact that his department has reported an anomalously low number of Jews to the Gestapo over the years. He'd never say it out loud, but Evert has spent years illicitly falsifying passports for Athens' Jewish population to protect them from the Gestapo.

More than anything else, Evert's quarrels lie with the communists rather than the Jews. He's a strong believer in the cult of tradition. He believes that the old collaborator government forsook Greece's noble past for the sake of ingratiating itself to Rome and Germania. Evert hopes to restore some semblance of decency and decorum to Greek politics by reinstating the monarchy. After seeing the consequences of right and left-wing radicalism run amok (namely with the the bloody excesses of the security battalions and their dastardly Bolshevik opponents), he feels that a return to the tried and true traditions of the past is exactly what the country needs. Now that Greece has distanced itself somewhat from Germania, Evert has just the opportunity he needs to invite king Paul back to reclaim his throne.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Although first lieutenant Panos Katsareas had briefly fought in the resistance before defecting to join the dreaded security battalions, his commanding officers overlooked this unfortunate detail because they had uses for his skills. Following Germany's victory over the allied forces, Katsareas founded the National Anti-Communist Groups of Hunters (EAOK). As a subordinate organization of the SB's, the EAOK's line of work for the last decade has been to root out and crush communist dissent wherever it exists.

Following a failed attempt on his life by communist partisans in 1945, Katsareas orchestrated what is now referred to in hushed tones across the South Peloponnese as the "white terror." Men under his command swarmed the countryside putting suspected communists to the sword by the hundreds. Mass hangings of farmers accused of aiding partisans became a fixture of the terror in the popular memory. Despite his well-documented preference for monarchism over fascism, Katsareas has shown time and time again that he has no mercy for communists (or anyone he claims are communists). He seeks above all other things to restore the deposed Greek monarchy in the hopes of putting an end to the deviancy of the communists.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Born in 1901, King Paul spent many years abroad. He was crowned king by the exile government in 1947, after the former childless king died. Paul dreamt of returning Greece as her rightful king, and he accepted the offer by the Athens government in a heartbeat, without the approval of the government-in-exile.

He thought that power and a new reign awaited him, and the king's desire to rule somewhat effectively has shown, and he is eagered to function as a proper head of state.

In-Game Biography (Prisoner in the Palace) ^{Click to Show}Locked away in his Royal Palace, the government has imposed absolute control over the monarch's life. Guarded by the "Royal Guards" that are de-facto under the internal security division, his movement has greatly limited, reduced to the confines of the palace.

Rarely, the king is not allowed to greet the public unless the government explicitly stated that the king should appear. Regardless, the king is not a factor in state affairs, and the rest of his days shall be spent inside his palace.

If Evert or Katsareas is chosen to succeed Bourantas, the monarchy will be restored under Paul I.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Sergeant Major Takis Makedonas has long been regarded with wariness by his fellow security officers. Anyone who's served under him for any length of time can attest his ego and his violent temper being fixtures of their interactions with him. It's rumoured among some of his compatriots that he'd unsuccessfully attempted to join the Greek resistance as a commissioned officer before he founded the anti-communist EASAD, but no one who values their life would ever dare say it out loud in mixed company.

It's always been known that Makedonas is a strange, brutal man who's obsessed with his own vanity before all other things. It's hard to say what exactly goes on his head, but what's known for that the Axis occupation has intensified his worst tendencies. He was never a stable person to begin with, but the long years of embittered, inconclusive sparring with the partisans have encouraged him to act on his darker urges. His mounting frustration over his inability to crush the rebels for good has fueled the complexification of his delusions of grandeur. The desire for unrestrained power gesticulates in him like a malignant black root, succoured by the blood of innocents.

There are no more barriers to his deepest desires now that he holds total dominion over the entire country. No bridge is too far in Makedonas' demented quest for greatness. He will stop at nothing to see his name printed in the history books as the greatest leader Greece has ever known.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}It's not certain how, when, or where "captain" Grigoris Sourlas of the EASAD acquired his captaincy. Who it was in the collaborationist military that bestowed the rank upon him isn't known to anyone but Sourlas himself, if such a person even exists. When it comes to the nicknames the captain has acquired during his time with the security battalions, things are decidedly less ambiguous. "The bloody bandit", "the varangian," "the dire wolf," and "the land waster" are just a handful of the titles bestowed on him over the years, with the "the hangman of Demerli" being one of the oldest and most enduring. The captain first attracted such moniker in the killing fields of Thessaly, where he garnered a reputation as a man of unparalleled ruthlessness and depravity.

Despite officially being a servant of the Hellenic state, Sourlas has spent the better part of the last decade plundering Thessaly as a bandit and warlord. Large parts of the region are de facto lawless, with men under his command routinely burning down farmsteads suspect burning of harboring partisans, press-ganging hapless civilians into joining his gang, and coercing villages into paying tribute to him. Sourlas' voracious sexual appetite is infamous among his nominal superiors in security battalions. Stories of him dragging women and girls into barns during farm raids are a common fixture in any discussion concerning him.

As the newly-instated head of the security battalions and the Hellenic state, Sourlas intends to apply his methods to the entirety of Greece. Now that marshall Bourantas is out of the picture, Sourlas answers to no one but himself. He will start a fire to burn down the whole country if that's what it takes to eradicate Bolshevism from Greece for good.
