The Main Duo

    Maggie Davis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maggie_davis.jpg
Played by: Emanuela Rei

American girl from Portland. A creative and free-spirited girl who is often considerd "weird". Maggie wants to be a stylist, but also loves music.

  • The Ace: During school projects, she's always the one who comes up with the idea that allows the group to get excellent grades. Whenever she is absent, all the others are lost without her.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: A messy and disorganized Cloudcuckoolander with many flaws, but still the best student in the Fashion Academy. She is also a very competent Singer-Songwriter and guitarist in her band.
  • Character Catchphrase:
    • Maggie says "Gozy!" when she finds something cool. It's a word invented by her which comes from "go crazy". Although, other characters also start using this line throughout the show.
    • Her Verbal Tic "ONE... TWO... THREE... FOUR..." and so on, when she's frustrated.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Is often obsessively jealous when there is another girl who is interested in Jacques.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Maggie has many tics (like the obsessive counting when she's nervous), fantasies, and weird quirks. She also talks to a giant doll.
  • The Ditherer: Spends most of season 2 unable to decide if she loves Jacques or Andrew.
  • The Fashionista: While not sophisticated like Bianca, Maggie is known for her creativity, and her main goal is becoming a stylist.
  • Fiery Redhead: She has red hair, and is often moody and short-tempered.
  • Genki Girl: When Maggie is in her happy mood, she tends to be enthusiastic and excitable, something that Bianca finds annoying.
  • Granola Girl: She cares about animal rights and environment.
  • Ms. Imagination: She regularly has Imagine Spots, even when she's talking to other people, and they often result in her Acting Out a Daydream.
  • Nervous Wreck: Every time there is an exam or a stressful situation, she freaks out. At least, until she finds a way to solve her problems.
  • Nice Girl: Compared to Bianca, at least. Maggie is genuinely friendly, but her neurosis and frustration often get in the way.
  • Not So Above It All: She is supposed to be the "nice one" of the titular duo, but many times she can be as rude and abrasive as Bianca.
  • Tsundere: She is a caring girl who usually tries to be friendly, but other characters often annoy her, especially Bianca or Jacques.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Zig-zagged. In some episodes, she is considered "the girl who sees the good in everyone and everything", in contrast to Bianca being The Cynic. Sometimes she really is, but we also see her being angry and pessimistic in many situations, so it can be an Informed Attribute.

    Bianca Lussi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bianca_lussi.jpg
Played by: Giorgia Boni

Spoiled Italian girl from Lake Como, and the daughter of a powerful businessman in the fashion industry. She secretly wants to become a singer.

  • Break the Haughty: She's a Spoiled Brat in the first two seasons, but in season 3, she can't depend on her father's money anymore and starts working in the local cafeteria to be financially independent. At first, she's not happy about it, but that experience quickly makes her become humble, mature, and polite to everyone, almost completely losing her arrogance and shallowness.
  • Character Development: Starts out as a Villain Protagonist in the pilot. After the pilot, she evolves into a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, but still keeps her Spoiled Brat tendencies until the end of season 2. In season 3, she becomes a Nice Girl.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Often called "The Frosty Ice Queen". While still being standoffish, she softens up over time thanks to her friends (especially Maggie) and her love interest Quinn. In season 2, she is back to be an Ice Queen after finding out that Maggie is her sister, but eventually learns to accept her. In season 3, she is nice most of the time, and is no longer a snob.
  • Dude Magnet: In the main cast, she has Quinn, Leo, and Felipe after her. When she wants to find a partner for a party, many boys show up for the "audition".
  • The Fashionista: A Deconstructed Trope. Bianca takes pride in being elegant and owning hundreds of pairs of shoes, but has no interest in working in the fashion industry like her father. It's her father who is forcing her to attend the Fashion Academy.
  • Freudian Excuse: Her father is not supportive of her singing talent (initially), so she has to hide it from everyone. She also has a Missing Mom.
  • Hidden Depths: Bianca has many of them that she tries to hide from other people initially: her talent for singing, her daddy issues, and her Hidden Heart of Gold.
  • It's All About Me: "I love being me!"
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Due to her Missing Mom and neglectful dad, she spends more time with her maid. Her father gets better, though.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: A rich, vain, and egocentric Spoiled Brat, but also has a nicer side. After her Character Development, she learns to value her friends, especially Maggie. In season 3, the "bitch" part almost completely disappears.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Her surname Lussi is Italian for "luxuries". Because she's rich, of course. She even has a poodle named Luxy!
    • Her name Bianca is Italian for "white", which fits her nickname "Frosty Snow Queen" (changed to "Frosty Ice Queen" in the English dub).
  • Never My Fault: When something goes wrong, she frequently blames Maggie and tells her "As usual it's all your fault!" or "I was happy with my life before meeting you!".
  • Rich Bitch: A prissy girl who often treats people with disdain because they are not as rich and "classy" as her.
  • Spoiled Brat: She even keeps a maid hidden in her room to make her do the cleaning. In season 3, she is not spoiled anymore, and learns to work and be financially independent.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: In season 3, she becomes a nice Class Princess, to the point that she has a more pleasant attitude than Maggie. In a season 3 episode, she even refers to her past behavior as "my snob phase".
  • With Friends Like These...: She insults and belittles Maggie a lot, although she also has many genuinely sweet moments with her.

Other Students

     Jacques Bertrand
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jacques_bertrand.jpg
Played by: Sergio Ruggeri

A cool and popular student who is half French and half Italian. Loved by many girls, including Maggie.

  • Cannot Spit It Out: The endless Ship Tease between he and Maggie starts in early season 1, but they only hook up at the end of season 2. They are both too proud to reveal their feelings for a long time.
  • Chick Magnet: He can get any girl he wants, and he knows it. Even Nausica was attracted to him initially.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: The "crazy" part is downplayed due to his usual stoicism. But he is visibly jealous when Maggie is around Andrew.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Lazy, apathetic, selfish, and initially dismissive of Maggie. But despite his flaws, he is truly a nice person.
  • Mellow Fellow: Jacques is always calm and collected, unlike the other characters.
  • Only Sane Man: A Mellow Fellow surrounded by eccentric, moody, and hammy characters. He shares this role with Quinn.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Jacques is more of a selfish Lazy Bum in early episoses. He later becomes completely devoted to Maggie, although they still have issues in season 3.
  • Unrequited Love Switcheroo: Initially, Maggie has a crush on him but he considers her too weird for him. In season 2 and 3, he only has eyes for her, even when Maggie has another boyfriend.

     Quinn O'Connor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quinn2.jpg
Played by: Luca Murphy

Scottish nice guy who likes photography. He falls in love with Bianca.

  • Better as Friends: He breaks up with Bianca in the middle of season 2 but they remain Amicable Exes. In season 3, he realizes he's still in love with her.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: A kind and patient guy who loves Bianca, but she makes him angry a few times.
  • The Defroster: Mainly with Bianca, but he has been this to all the meaner female characters:
    • He is able to partially defrost resident Ice Queen Bianca and bring out her sweeter side.
    • In season 2, he does the same with scary goth Susan, his Second Love, making her able to smile.
    • In a platonic way, his nice words to Nausica near the end of the series is what convinces her to have a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Nice Guy: He is kind, caring, and helpful to his friends, and also to his girlfriends (Bianca and Susan).
  • Only Sane Man: Quinn is wise and reasonable compared to everyone else, which is also lampshaded.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: Has secret feelings for Bianca in most of season 1 and most of season 3. Averted in season 2, as they are dating in the first half, and Amicable Exes in the second half.

    Eduard Zonte
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/edu2.jpg
Played by: Sergio Melone

Aspiring model from Greece. Not smart at all.

  • Brainless Beauty: Completely brainless. But despite being handsome, the "beauty" part is downplayed because of the goofy faces he makes all the time.
  • Camp Straight: He likes fashion and has flamboyant mannerisms, but at the end of season 2, he admits that he is in love with Yuki.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: He hardly ever says anything that makes sense.
  • Dumb and Drummer: The resident idiot Eduard is the drummer of the MoodBoards, Maggie and Bianca's band.
  • Dumb Muscle: More muscle than brain. He reguarly does abs workout.
  • Genius Ditz: Is apparently a good drummer enough to be part of the MoodBoards.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: Because of his lack of intelligence, he is literally incapable of being malicious.
  • Lovable Coward: He is scared of many things, sometimes to the point of fainting.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Since the other MoodBoards (Maggie, Bianca, Jacques, Quinn) are more serious characters, he's the only comic relief of the band, due to being The Ditz.

    Nausica Bianchetti
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nausica2.jpg
Played by: Federica Corti

Italian girl from Milan. Very devious, mean, and arrogant, she is the most disliked in the main group.

  • Alpha Bitch: A power-hungry girl who likes to think of herself as a "queen bee", and enjoys being cruel to everyone. Except that she has no talent or popularity at all, and gets mad after finding out that she is second-to-last in the school's popularity list.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Despite being the most antagonistic character, she becomes nice in the last two episodes, at the end of season 3. Even before that, there are a few hints that she's not evil deep down.
  • Freudian Excuse: It's later revealed that Nausica is such a Competition Freak because she grew up with an abusive mother, a famous woman who has always criticized Nausica for being "ugly" and talentless. Even Bianca feels sorry for Nausica after meeting her mother.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Nobody likes her, but the main cast keeps her around because she is part of their class group.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Very antagonistic towards Maggie and Bianca because she's jealous of their talent and popularity.
  • Heel–Face Turn: At the end of the show, she realizes that she doesn't want to lose her friends, and decides to become a better person. Luckily for her, everyone forgives her.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: As she admits in season 3, Nausica tries hard to be the most cruel, because she is not good at anything else. She even feels threatened when she learns about another girl who is even more cruel than her.
  • Jerkass: She actually makes Bianca look nice. Nausica is always shrill and obnoxious to everyone, although she turns into a Jerk with a Heart of Gold at the end of the series.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: She treats people badly and has a terrible attitude, but is also a comically pathetic Small Name, Big Ego who tends to fail at almost everything, and rarely things go well for her, most of the time.
  • Mirror Character: To Bianca. Both are pretentious mean girls with parental issues. But unlike Nausica, Bianca has friends, talent, and popularity, so she gets her Character Development much more quickly. For Nausica, it takes the entire series to realize that she also has friends if she wants to.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: She sees herself as the best, even though she has no talent, and everyone treats her as a nuisance. Deconstructed, as her ego is later revaled to be Inferiority Superiority Complex.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: The season 1 finale ends with her being a complete Sore Loser against the main duo. In the season 2 finale and especially the season 3 finale, she has a happy ending along with everyone else. Justified, since she has more Hidden Depths after the first season.
  • Token Evil Teammate: In the main group. She treats everyone badly, and even becomes an antagonist in several episodes.

     Yuki Abe
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuki_05.jpg
Played by: Tiffany Zhou

Japanese girl who is not very smart. A very close friend of Eduard, and also attracted to him.

  • Asian Airhead: Yuki is Japanese and one of the two dumbest characters.
  • The Ditz: Shares this role with Eduard. They are both morons, and they get along because of this.
  • Genki Girl: She is perky and happy-go-lucky, probably even more than Maggie.
  • Innocent Beta Bitch: Sometimes to Nausica. She is not mean at all, just a ditz who is manipulated by Alpha Bitch Nausica into going along with her plans.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: Like Eduard, she is a completely idiotic and completely innocent character.
  • Nice Girl: The nicest female character in the first two seasons, because of her naïveté and innocence.
  • Pair the Dumb Ones: She is a ditz who has a crush on the other dumb character, Eduard. While they are usually just friends, at the end of season 2, it's revealed that Eduard likes her too.
  • Put on a Bus: After season 2, she moves back to Japan.

     Leonardo "Leo" García
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leo_10.jpg

  • Advertised Extra: Appears in the season 1 opening credits, despite being a Satellite Character who has very few lines.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Part of the main group of students in season 1, but much more Out of Focus than everyone else. He disappears in season 2 without explanation.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Has a (very shallow) crush on Bianca initially, but she can't stand him.
  • Romantic False Lead: He asks Quinn to help him win Bianca's heart. This is what makes Quinn realize that he has feelings for her.
  • Satellite Character: Often seen following Nausica, but he rarely says or does anything.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: He thinks of himself as a cool guy because he has money. Nobody takes him seriously and is mostly ignored by everyone.

    Eloise Gale
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eloise4.jpg
Played by: Maria Luisa De Crescenzo

A nerdy nice girl from England, who likes technology. Only appears in season 3.

  • Bungling Inventor: Her inventions usually malfunction. Even in the opening, we see her experiment blowing up in her face.
  • Celibate Heroine: The only character who is never attracted to or romantically interested in anyone.
  • Contrasting Replacement Character: Eloise, a science-loving genius, is introduced in season 3 to replace Asian Airhead Yuki.
  • Ditzy Genius: Despite being extremely smart and knowledgeable, there's always something wrong with her inventions.
  • Nice Girl: The nicest on the show. She is always friendly to everyone, even the idiotic Eduard and the obnoxious Nausica. She actually cheers after being paired with Nausica for a school project (with Nausica sarcastically replying that she's happy too).
  • Odd Friendship: Usually hangs out with Eduard or with Nausica, and she genuinely likes both. Nausica obviously doesn't treat her like a friend, but Eloise doesn't mind.
  • Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Often uses long scientific words that leave everyone else confused.
  • Teen Genius: A brilliant girl who knows a lot about science.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: In season 2, he acts very polite and charming to Maggie, but is willing to play dirty just to win the Battle of the Bands.

  • Promoted to Love Interest: Minor characater in season 1, Love Interest to Maggie in season 2.
  • Promotion to Opening Titles: In season 2, he is promoted to the opening cast, along with his band members Felipe and Susan.
  • Romantic False Lead: Romantically involved with Maggie, just to keep Maggie and Jacques apart until the end of the season. He even ends up derailed so that Maggie can break up with him.
  • Second Love: After Jacques, he is the second guy Maggie falls in love with. Zig-zagged, as she dates Andrew before Jacques, since the latter hides his feelings for a long time.

     Felipe Ramirez
Played by: Paolo Fantoni

Bass player of the CoolGhost who ends up falling for Bianca. He comes from Argentina.

  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Slightly arrogant and cocky initially, which causes quite a few arguments with Bianca, but he genuinely loves her.
